Aviles/ Plaza de España

Mentioned on

Plaza de España is a charming square in Aviles, surrounded by impressive buildings like the Town Hall and Palacio de Ferrera. The cobbled streets leading from the square showcase the best-preserved medieval city in Asturias. Visitors can enjoy the kindness of locals, delicious food, and lively medieval fairs with music, costumes, dances, and stalls. The square's garage house provides easy access to this picturesque spot.
Drizzle all day long, enjoying the raining walk in the old city. Most of the shop having break from 2pm and reopen at 5pm.

Really good atmosphere and architecture.

Great place to catch a bite to eat, possibly with a beer or a wine. A busy square near lots of shops with good ice cream parlours. Nicely paved and kept. Good for socialising and central for accessing surrounding parks and other landmarks.

(Translated by Google) I was surprised by Avilés. Its historic center is very well preserved. Like many, I had been told that Avilés was an industrial city, but I was wrong. Its historic center is worth seeing. A good atmosphere for drinks, food, and strolling through its streets...and of course, the Niemeyer Center. (Original) Me sorprendió Avilés.

Park
Nature & Parks
Parque de Ferrera, located in Aviles, is the town's largest and one of the most beautifully landscaped parks in Asturias. Originally a private palace garden belonging to the Palacio de Ferrera, it was transformed into a public park after being sold to the municipality by the Marquises of Ferrera.
A beautiful large park in the heart of Avilés. We strolled through it most days during our 3 week visit.
Kenneth H — Google review
Ferrera Park also known as the park of the Marquise (of Ferrera) it is a real jewel and an amazing park. It was part of the palace of the Marquise of Ferrera (currently a Hotel) and it was opened to the public in 1976 after being purchased by the Council of Aviles. It has 5 entries and it closes at 11pm. The park has a trail for exercise very popular, a pond very popular with seagulls, specially during rainy days and a zone for kids. The park deserves better maintenance though as you can see for the old posts, bins... It seems a lot of trees have been lost due to storms and not sure if they have ever been replaced. There is a fountain from 1887. It is an amazing space with a lot of potential if it was managed a bit better.
JR S — Google review
Lovely gardens near the historic centre of Avilés. It has a well kept French style garden with a few stone benches under a vine covered pergola and flower beds (pets are not allowed in this section) and a much larger English style park, very peaceful and with many paths where dogs are allowed. Easy to park close by.
Inma A — Google review
Such a beautiful and well kept park in the heart of Aviles, was lucky enough to even remotely (and ever so peacefully) work from there for a few afternoon. And stroll through the park almost every day on each visit to Aviles. Really you doing so too when around 🙂 Update AUG 2022: still “the” perfect place to Work from abroad in Aviles for the digital nomad estyle
Ruben A — Google review
Beautiful park and gardens, great sports equipment for the older kids in the party who really enjoyed this aspect. Lots of places to sit and relax and public toilet facilities too.
A G — Google review
Excellent park that's free to enter. Nice little pond in the middle eith ducks and geese. Lots of fixtures for the kids to play on, and even access to a garden area with lots of pretty flowers & fountains. Multiple access points makes it really easy to navigate, and branch off exploring another part of the city.
Jake M — Google review
Nice park in the center of Avelis. It has a small lake with beautiful birds. There is a nice area for children to play as well. Worth a stop to relax and enjoy the nature.

Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Centre

Mentioned on
5 lists
Cultural center
Auditorium
The Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Centre in Aviles is a futuristic complex that has become a hub for art and culture in Asturias. Designed by renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer, the center's striking colors and seductive curves make it one of the most original attractions in the region. Visitors can explore art exhibits, enjoy cultural performances, attend fairs, concerts, conventions, and conferences within this contemporary architectural masterpiece.
Centro Niemeyer is an architectural gem in Avilés. I highly recommend visiting if you’re interested in modern architecture and cultural spaces. It was designed by the legendary Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and is the only building he created in Spain. The structure reflects his iconic style with bold forms, flowing curves and a sense of light and openness. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go inside because there was a private event that day, but on regular days you can visit the interior with a guided tour. A must-see for architecture lovers and anyone looking for a unique experience in northern Spain.
Mariia G — Google review
Lovely hidden place but the hours on google could be updated. Also - dogs/ pets cannot go inside and there’s a hook provided in front of the info centre but it’s on the straight sun and no water provided - I would get that done in the shade and with some water facility ;-)) The Goya exhibition was really nice, Tokyo blues …. Hmmm … also large part of complex could be used better ✌️✌️
Natália — Google review
The complex showcases his signature style—bold geometric shapes, sweeping curves, and a masterful use of light and open space. An unmissable destination for architecture enthusiasts and those seeking a distinctive cultural experience in northern Spain.
Mostafa A — Google review
A place that is worth a visit if you are interested in architecture. The guided tours (daily at 12:30 and 17:00) are a good option to visit the complex and have some information about the site architecture and the city. It lasts around 45 min. It is a good place to start a visit to Aviles as it is connected to the city centre (just 10 min. walk).
Pedro T — Google review
Modernist architecture with outdoor and indoor exhibitions and shows (€free and chargeable). Cafe. Restaurant (closed during my daytime visit). Toilets. I walked into the town after my visit via two footbridges over the river.
Jon — Google review
Really nice architecture, designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and his only work in Spain. The centre itself is very impressive from an architecture point of view but sadly since its opening it has been covered in scandals for its bad management and the bad use of public money by the former management. The restaurants in the space, specially in the tower were not very lucky either and the Tower is closed these days. These days there are some exhibitions but not to the level of the building. This is a good example of how just a good infrastructure without a good management doesn’t add much value.
JR S — Google review
Incredible experience visiting Avila and this center. The museum was spectacular and so intriguing. I was impressed by the architecture and design of the area. This day was quite cloudy and breezy, definitely worth visiting if you are near the area. Asturias is beautiful!
Gabby J — Google review
Went only to see the exterior of the buildings. Did not have time enjoy cultural center activities. I wish they would maintain the exterior just a bit more. It must be hard to keep it pristine near the coastline as it is located.

Iglesia San Nicolás de Bari is a stunning church located between Plaza de Espana and Calle Galiana. Originally part of a Franciscan monastery dating back to the 13th century, it was situated near the medieval city walls. The monastery, which housed monks until the 19th century, still stands as a picturesque gem in a beautiful square with colorful buildings. Visitors can witness processions during Easter and experience the historical ambiance inside the church.

In the following ten years they were occupied by the Poor Clares of Oviedo. In 1848, it became the seat of the parish of San Nicolás de Bari. In 1936, due to the Civil War, the church was violently occupied by the forces of the Popular Front, immediately proceeding to loot the objects of worship and burn the altarpieces and images. Parque del Muelle is a small public park in Aviles, known for its lush greenery and relaxing atmosphere. The park is home to the famous sculpture of Pedro Menendez, a renowned sailor and founder of the first city in the United States, San Agustin. Visitors can also admire the sculpture of La Foca within the park. Despite nearby construction, the park remains clean and pleasant, offering a peaceful environment for leisurely strolls or simply unwinding amidst nature.
Beautiful park, reminds me of parks from the Dominican Republic.

Interesting park that knew better times. It doesn’t have big green spaces, it was more a park for walking. There are a couple of interesting statues, including local hero Pedro Menendez, and a nice bandstand. It was the main park of the city until the bigger and greener Park of Ferrera was opened in the 70s. The park was built in the previous harbour, where the sea used to be.

Palacio de Camposagrado

Mentioned on
3 lists
Historical landmark
Palacio de Camposagrado, a 17th-century Baroque palace located in Aviles, Asturias, is a significant piece of civil architecture. Originally the residence of the Marquis of Camposagrado, it boasts two distinct facades - one facing the reclaimed Parque del Muelle and another serving as a defensive facade.
(Translated by Google) It is possibly the building that impresses me the most in the city of Avilés. Located in Camposagrado Square, the Camposagrado Palace is a magnificent palace representative of Asturian baroque architecture from the 17th century, the work of Aviles architect Francisco Menéndez Camina. Its two main facades were built in the 17th century. The one that faces the Plaza de Camposagrado was designed and built between 1693 and 1696. In the construction, where the baroque style with profuse decoration is evident, the two towers stand out, with a higher height than the rest of the building and the coat of arms of family weapons on the central balcony. From the interior, the monumental stone staircase stands out, since the building was renovated to house homes on the upper floors and shops on the ground floors, so all the interior elements disappeared. Today it houses the Higher School of Art of the Principality of Asturias, dependent on the Department of Education and Science of the Principality of Asturias. Access is currently restricted.

Baroque palace with a square floor plan, originally austere in decoration, residence of the Marquis of Camposagrado (1661). Two facades, between the Parque del Muelle - reclaimed from the estuary - and the Plaza de Camposagrado. The façade of the pier (N.) merged with the old wall of Avilés and a palace from the 16th century. (Translated by Google) The problem with people not knowing which part of the theater they're buying tickets from because they only want the cheapest one ("general admission," at the very top) is their problem. Otherwise, the theater is beautiful, and its staff is super attentive and friendly. The women who usher are already familiar faces, and I'd even say hello to them on the street, or if I bump into them somewhere else while working, as I did at the Niemeyer. I wish everyone would appreciate the cultural offerings we have in La Villina. Sidrería Tierra Astur Avilés offers a traditional and hearty feast of Asturian cuisine, including Tortos de Maiz con Picadillo y Huevos, a delicious dish made with corn bread, pork, paprika, and eggs. The restaurant is known for its extensive menu featuring a variety of regional dishes that are both tasty and generous in portion size. The unique atmosphere and friendly staff create an unforgettable dining experience.
We visited this Asturian restaurant for the second time, after our first experience in Oviedo, and once again, everything was excellent. The food was delicious,we tried new dishes, all rich in flavor and tradition. Alongside our meal, we enjoyed traditional Asturian apple cider, poured in the authentic local style, which added to the experience. The staff was welcoming and attentive, making us feel at ease throughout our visit. The atmosphere was warm and true to the region’s character. We left completely satisfied and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good food and great service.

The food was nice, though the portions were quite large. Even though the restaurant was busy, the service was good. The lady who served us was friendly and attentive. It's quite a noisy place. It's clearly a popular place, so we wanted to give it a try.

Reminds me of an American theme restaurant. Very busy noisy with surly waiters. More interested in turning over tables than genuine service. We both ordered varieties of a popular Asurian dish " Cochopo" . Would have been good if the waiter could have advised us this is normally a shared dish. They were huge. His response when we asked why didn't he tell us this is a shared dish was , well you can take whats left home. Which we did. We did enjoy our meal. Won't be returning.

It was our first time in Asturias and Tierra Astur was the perfect introduction. We ordered “Chorizo a la Sidra” (chorizo in cider), a local cheese board and “Fabada Asturiana” (traditional bean stew), all rich in flavor and truly delicious. We shared two bottles of cider, poured at the table in the traditional way, which was fun and unique to watch. For dessert we had frixuelos, the perfect sweet ending. The food and service were excellent, the atmosphere lively and authentic. A bit noisy for our taste, but overall a wonderful evening.

This place was a real GEM! The atmosphere was incredible, cider barrels were used as decor and bottles as you walked in. They pour your cider for you in the traditional way, and the food was incredible! The menu was well done with pictures so you knew what you were getting. Live music on Thursday night added to the atmosphere. It was crowded in the bar as we were leaving, but it was nice at our table

Found this historic restaurant while searching for authentic places to eat with traditional Spanish meals. Was given a table in a quiet room, which was a perfect start. Then came the appetizers, including anchovies, cheese, and jamon, all of which were beautifully presented. Next came the main meals, cod expertly cooked and a chuleton with the correct amount of salt. Wine list is extensive and contains many worthy bottles. I selected a Rioja, which was a marvelous addition to the meal. Friendly and capable service made the meal flow at a pleasant pace. Other tables around the restaurant were populated by locals, providing the right kind of ambiance. What a marvelous experience!

Fine dining restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Avilés, Restaurante Yume is a culinary gem that has revitalized the local dining scene with its innovative approach to cuisine. This restaurant stands out for its ever-evolving menu, which beautifully marries Asian influences with classic Spanish dishes. Guests are encouraged to trust the knowledgeable staff who can guide them through a selection of surprise courses tailored to their tastes and dietary needs. The seasonal ingredients used ensure each dish bursts with flavor and freshness, making every visit unique.
Close to perfection! Firstly, this restaurant is in an awesome setting, being in the tower of the Oscar Niemeyer Centre in Aviles. It has spectacular views in every direction. Secondly, the staff are awesome. They make the dining experience a joy. Thirdly, the food is incredible. Every dish seems to out-do the last. The first dessert with its apple and lavender flavours was an absolute favourite and I don't have a sweet tooth. Finally the matching wines were an absolute highlight. Favourites were the Ribera del Duero red and the Galician albarino. This place definitely comes recommended!

HAUTE CUISINE WORTHY OF A MICHELIN STAR. Yume doesn't have a menu. You're served a series of surprise dishes. Which and how many depends on your appetite, preferences and allergies. We had two starters, followed by meat and fish. Every single dish was outstanding. Yume's concept is to offer creative interpretations of classic Spanish cuisine, such as revuelto de gambas, costillas and arroz. The ingredients are seasonal, locally sourced and of high quality. Every three months, the "menu" changes. The prices are surprisingly low: we paid only €35 per person for a superb five-course meal. Overall, Yume is a great restaurant for special occasions.
M H — Google review
We reserved a table at the Yume restaurant in July for 26 September 2024 at 21:00. The reservation was confirmed to me in writing on 14 July 2024. A credit card is required to make the reservation (no show policy). The terms and conditions also state that you can only arrive a maximum of 15 minutes late. At 21:00, we were standing in front of the entrance door of the Yume, the outside lights were not switched on and the automatic glass door did not open. Staff and guests could be seen through the door. Attempts to draw attention to us were unsuccessful, as was a phone call to the restaurant. Sometime after 21:15, a guest left Yume and we finally had the opportunity to enter the restaurant. The staff reacted very surprised. I pointed out to the staff member that we had a reservation and had been standing outside the door in the dark and cold for more than 15 minutes and that this was unacceptable. In the meantime, the restaurant manager, Mrs Miranda, came in and, without even getting an overview, she very resolutely pointed out to us that we should have called before to confirm the reservation, claiming that she had called us and that she didn't have our credit card number at all. None of this was true. There was no effort to apologise, only unjustified accusations against the guests. We would have loved to enjoy the culinary experience of a meal at Yume, but after such unprofessional behaviour from the restaurant staff and the restaurant manager, we felt so unwelcome that we left Yume. We have never been treated to such unfriendly and unprofessional behaviour in a Michelin Guide restaurant anywhere in the world, regardless of category. We are happy to provide our reservation confirmation from Yume.

We booked for lunch on a Tuesday, unaware that the exhibitions in the art centre were closed (note). We ordered the tasting menu and had an absolutely amazing experience. The waitress explained that they pride themselves on using the whole of a product, including skins, using dehydration and rehydration technics. The vision, expertise and skills used executing these dishes is nothing short of amazing. Coupled with the fact that the service matched the above, in a wonderful setting made for an outstanding experience. We travelled across Northern Spain for the first 2 weeks of June, seeing other towns and sampling other restaurants, which for the most part were very good, but nothing came close to the Yume experience. We look forward to booking again the next time we are in the area. Thank you...😉

2 stars since the food was very good, the rest was a bad experience. 1. We arrive with door closed and we had to call to enter. No excuses 2. Nobody takes the coats or jackets 3. we sit at a low table for a drink where we are served a sparkling white wine, without explanation and the wine is warm (not drinkable) 4. we are asked to join in the kitchen for the first dish. Eating standing with the coats and bags was not the best experience. And a kid in the kitchen at a table looking at instagram and not saying hello. 5. We get back at the table we are served wines (we asked for a menu with wines for each plate). No explanation on wines, when the owner tries an explanation is just completely wrong. 6. when a napkin falls on the floor the waiter asks if it is fine to put it back on the table or if she should change it... really? 7. During the entire experience the music was extremely loud (style reggaeton) The food is good, the place is nice however a lot of work is needed to make it a nice experience.

All dishes are treated with good taste and quality; the attention is good; and the place is nice although as it is not very big it is better to book. I encourage everyone to try it because every time I went it was always good. (Original) Excelente restaurante con muy buena relación calidad/precio. It is located in the heart of the Sabugo neighborhood, the old fishing neighborhood, and occupies a small, charming building that combines modernity and classicism in an almost perfect way. Their food is tasty, recognizable, with an extraordinary product quality and from which they manage to bring out all the flavor. Its winery and the encyclopedic knowledge of Gerardo, its owner, stand out. Find different wines, different cavas and even proposals for champagne or sweet wines of unusual quality. Their proposals for drinks, sitting on their terrace in front of the Sabugo Church, which dates back to the 13th century, is a true experience. And if you stay for lunch or dinner later, complete experience. Friendly and very professional team, available at all times to make your trip unbeatable. Restaurante Alkasbah

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Aviles, Restaurante Alkasbah stands out as a beloved dining destination, celebrated for its unique take on Arabic cuisine. While it may not serve traditional local dishes, Alkasbah impresses with its high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation. Diners rave about specialties like the flavorful paseela, Moroccan ceviche, hearty couscous, and crispy falafel—perfect for those seeking something different.
This place is great! The man working was very attentive, friendly, and managed almost a full restaurant by himself with ease. Each dish we tried was amazing and the decor is also very stylish! We would definitely come back!!

Moroccan restaurant in the heart of Aviles, offering fusion moroccan cuisine. The portions are not abundant and it is quite pricey to be honest. The decoration is nice and service attentive, but won’t repeat.
Raúl B — Google review
The place has a really good atmosphere, well furnished, 10 out of 10. There were a few Vegetarian but also Vegan options. The falafel dish (7 falafel balls on a salad) was really good, cost 8.9eur. The pita (which was a bit dry) was also billed at 1.4eur/ piece when served with the hummus. This was surprising because the hummus already cost 8.4eur. The M'Yasara was a bit overpriced at 15.6eur. The waiter was very kind. The bill and drinks took a bit long to arrive. I definitely recommend the place!

Not the biggest fan of North African cuisine in general BUT, and partly influenced by that didn't have great (personal) expectations when my friends suggested it. Went along with it and in all fairness Alkasbah has blown me away and reopened doors I had left near closed. The flavours of all the well prepared and deeply seasoned dishes were superb and we'll balanced, portions ever so generous and the service / hospitality one of the kindest and most genuine I have experienced in recent years. Must go when in Aviles!! Top on all fronts!

had a wonderful experience, food was delicious and everyone was so nice and looking after us more than we could imagine (got the chefs treatment ;)) loved the variety of vegetarian options :)) - unfortunately they don’t have payment with card :( (only bizum or cash)

We went to this restaurant for my 71st birthday yesterday. We ordered our meal and two beers. Middle Eastern flat bread arrived without any dios. My husband asked for a dip for the bread. The waiter went away and brought us nothing. Meanwhile my husband's first course arrives which sat there getting coldas he was waiting for mine to come. It didn't. I reminsed the waiter that We had asked for a dip. He said it would cost extra. I said that was fine. Then he announced that he was refusing us service. We offered to pay for the beers but he did not want that. The waiter/owner apologías to my husband which we both understood that he meant it was a pity he was with me! That is ofensive. I can't explain his un profesional behaviour unless it was racism. I am an Australian and my husband is Colombiana. Perhaps he does not want to serve foreigners. I can't comments on the food because we didn't get any. So if you enjoy bad services and ofensive behaviour, this is the place for you.

The food was good even though went for the vegetarian so not much option but the hospitality surpassed everything and Moracan tea was excellent. I hope they add hiney instead of Sugar.

Parrilla - Sidrería Los Sauces

$$$$cheap
Bar & grill
The dining experience at the bar & grill Parrilla - Sidrería Los Sauces is exceptional. The cuisine is outstanding, and the establishment itself has an impressive ambiance. The staff members are highly attentive and go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. This restaurant should not be missed when visiting Asturias, as it is considered a must-visit location. Many people have had a fantastic time here, with large groups enjoying their meals together.
Most excellent steak in all of Spain. We arrived at the last minutes of service and we're excellently treated. The steak was perfectly cooked. The BBQ pit is to dream of. The three of us ate, and drank for less that £80.

David M — Google review
First of all, the food here is pretty good, except the Lunch Menu that is a bit of a ripoff. The service is bad as it gets, rude and careless waiters. The place has an excellent playground for children but if you plan to visit with children you'll be probably put off by the compulsory charge, if you want to feed your child, of €6 for "half menu". I do agree that some people take advantage of the usually large portions served at some restaurants, but having a compulsory charge with an explicit message on the menu, stating that "you aren't allowed to feed your child from your plate" it's quite extreme and to be honest, simply rude. After all I know what my child eats and if the food is plenty, why shouldn't I feed my child from my plate? It is true that many places are quite generous to offer you a dish and cutlery free of charge for this purpose, some places even bring dessert free of charge too for the child. I wouldn't be complaining if there was a "cutlery charge", but explicitly saying you're not allowed to feed your child from your leftovers, having to pay €6 for a small menu, not getting bread for the small menu and no small cutlery, besides being surrounded by boards that say "it is prohibited to consume any food or drink. Not purchased in the restaurant" it's unpleasant and inappropriate. If the playground is the edge that gives this restaurant some reputation... then they should rethink the restaurant business.

Restaurante Casa Alvarín

Restaurant
Restaurante Casa Alvarin offers amazing cuisine and sidra, creating a delightful evening experience. The Spanish food, such as jamon, fresh fish, and tortilla e patata, is exceptional. The restaurant is a hidden gem that is definitely worth visiting. It provides an authentic local experience with an abundance of hearty Asturian and Spanish classics. Cider flows freely throughout the establishment, complementing the rich flavors of the dishes served.
You can hardly go more local than this. Cider flowing all over, and full of rich and hearty Asturian and Spanish classics. Highly worth a visit

Objectively the best restaurant in Asturias, very good food, the best ambiente, and when I asked the barman to give me a bottle of sidre to try to open it with the "chigre" (special opener), he didn't even charge me for a bottle. Love you guys, thank you 💘

This restaurant might be really good for Many people but I don’t like it in personal because I did t get what I want or what I expected and my choice was very narrow so I cannot blame the restaurant. The service was great and it is like a family business. Hidden restaurant in the street. But if you want to give a try for non spicy and simple blend food this might be a good shot to try.

Transportation in Aviles

Getting around Aviles can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Asturias Airport

Airport
Asturias Airport is a small regional airport in northern Spain, serving the picturesque region of Asturias. While it mostly accommodates low-cost airlines, there are also connections to major cities by the national carrier. During low season, security clearance is efficient due to fewer passengers. However, in summer, it can get crowded like larger airports. The airport offers convenient passport checks and an excellent bus service to nearby towns.
Small, user friendly, helpful staff . Car hire very easy to locate with a very short walk from arrivals. No big shops, but duty free available, as well as magazines, small gifts and travel accessories. Nice restaurant and a couple of coffee/ drinks bars. Fast and efficient check in and security facilities.
Steve B — Google review
Asturias airport impresses with its efficient layout and helpful staff. The check-in process was smooth, and security measures were well-organized. The airport's ambiance is welcoming, with various dining and shopping options. However, the restroom experience fell short. While most facilities were clean, one sink had noticeable hair, which detracted from the overall cleanliness. Addressing this cleanliness issue would significantly enhance the passenger experience.
Mithun M — Google review
Asturias Airport left me with a very pleasant impression. It is compact and convenient, easy to find your way around. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the service is quick. Everything is clean and well-organized, and security checks go smoothly without unnecessary hassle. There is also a café where you can enjoy something tasty before your flight. An excellent airport to start or finish your trip comfortably!

A rather small but nice airport that serves the region of Asturias in Spain. As being a small regional airport most flights are from low cost airlines though the national carrier does serve few connections to the main cities too. If you are lucky enough to travel during the low season, the security clearance is extremely effective due to low passenger numbers. During the summer months they can get overwhelmed like the bigger airports. The airport has a good number of car rental firms located by the arrival hall at the top of the building. Though a few companies such as Hertz are located outside the terminal by the roundabout at an airport hotel. A 5 minute walk from arrivals. The terminal has a very small duty free shop that sells a limited range. Other shops are rather limited so don't expect to do any significant airport shopping. The parking is easy and right outside the airport, the fees, considering it's right outside are not bad at all. Cheap when compared to UK based airports. There are trolleys for carrying luggage from the car park, which do not need a coin to operate though they are often by the airport rather than by the car park, so may need to come to the airport to pick one up if departing. One thing to note is that the trolleys do not have brakes. Overall a nice little airport.

This airport close at 2am and reopen at 4am. Do you see this schedule on Google map ? No. Do you see this written anywhere in the airport (entrance door for example)? No ! So when you arrive with a flight at 1am and your next flight is at 6am, if the hotels nearby are fully booked, you will be kicked out of the airport no matter what at 2am whatever rain, show, babies etc.... explanation: "security reason ". Is it true that having no people in the entrance of the airport is more safe between 2am and 4am ? People who are in the airport are not homeless people squating airport, they are transiting from a Spanish company to another one for example. A big thank you to the airport management (M. Pedro Ruiz Cotilla if you like to search him on linkedin) for such an organization and nice customer experience! Even in developing countries I have never seen this. If you miss électricité to charge your laptop or mobile please feel free to enjoy the vending machine plug available on the top of it...
Christopher — Google review
this lovely little airport is the gateway to the stunning Costa Verde, good range of services and well connected to the motorway network in Northern Spain. The departure lounge can feel a little congested when more than two flight departures coincide though
Ignacio P — Google review
Nice small airport, easy passport check, no fuss, excellent bus service to towns around the area. Bars, shops and duty free like any other airports. Asturias is beautiful.
Jake N — Google review
Easy, innexpensive and clean. Would be a 5 star small airport if there was a sidewalk to the car rental, instead of a dirt path.
