Mahattamangkalaram Temple (Wat Hat Yai Nai)

Mentioned on

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Mahattamangkalaram Temple (Wat Hat Yai Nai) is a remarkable open-air temple in Hat Yai, featuring one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in the world. The 35-meter long statue, crafted in the 1970s, is a sight to behold as you enter the temple grounds. It's a peaceful attraction amidst the bustling city and is popular among multi-generation families. You may also encounter school children paying their respects in their uniforms during afternoon visits.
Wat Ha Ya Nai is a small but remarkable temple, mainly known for its giant reclining Buddha statue. The sheer size of the statue is impressive and makes for great photo opportunities. The temple grounds are peaceful, and the visit was quick—less than 15 minutes was enough for taking pictures and offering prayers. It’s a nice stop if you’re in the area, especially if you appreciate Buddhist architecture and cultural sites. While not a large temple complex, its highlight is definitely worth a short visit.
NextHorizon W — Google review
Every Buddhist Temple has a history of it's own and is often rich in the architecture as seen in the construction of the temple. There is a huge sleeping Buddha which was constructed in the temple grounds. Peaceful and serene surroundings even to the beings in the animal kingdom. Entrance / parking is free as in most temples and maintenance of the temples may come from your contributions regardless of currency. If you wish to go the extra mile, try offering Dana (robes, requisites, cooked food etc).
YC L — Google review
This is said to be the third largest reclining Buddha in all of Thailand — it’s truly magnificent! If you’ve never been here, I would definitely recommend a visit. There’s also an entrance at the back where you can pay respects to various deities. One of the staff aunties even speaks Chinese and was very friendly. I’d absolutely recommend this place to everyone!
Wei K — Google review
Wat Hatyai Nai (Hat Yai Yue Temple), also known as the Hatyai Reclining Buddha Temple, is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province, Thailand. It is renowned for its colossal reclining Buddha statue, Phra Phuttha Mahathamongkhon, which measures 35 meters and is considered the third largest reclining Buddha in the world. The temple's architecture blends traditional and modern Thai elements, and its interior is exquisitely decorated with murals depicting stories from the Buddha's life and teachings, offering visitors a tranquil atmosphere for meditation and contemplation.
Jony — Google review
I visited Mahattamangkalaram Temple, also known as Wat Hat Yai Nai, during my trip to Hatyai, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable stops of my journey. This temple is home to one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in Thailand, measuring about 35 meters long and 15 meters high. Seeing it in person was truly breathtaking — photos don’t do justice to its size and presence. The environment here is very quiet and peaceful, which made the visit even more special. It’s the kind of place where you naturally slow down, take a deep breath, and just enjoy the calm surroundings. The reclining Buddha is housed under a huge pavilion, and there is even a prayer area inside the base of the statue where visitors can pay their respects or take a moment for reflection. It felt meaningful to step inside and experience this side of Thai Buddhist culture. I also found it interesting that the temple is located right next to a local school and a wet market. While walking around, I could hear the sounds of daily life — children playing at school, vendors chatting at the market — which gave the whole place a unique charm. It feels very connected to the local community rather than just being a tourist attraction. I learned that this reclining Buddha was built in the early 1970s and was later officially named by King Rama IX. Once a year during Songkran, locals gather here to apply gold leaf to the heart of the Buddha, which is considered very auspicious. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Mahattamangkalaram Temple if you are in Hatyai. It’s free to enter, easy to reach, and offers a peaceful atmosphere plus a chance to see one of Thailand’s largest reclining Buddhas up close. A beautiful and meaningful stop on any Hatyai itinerary.
Zen Y — Google review
One of the important temple in Hatyai. The sleeping Buddha statue is huge. I felt peace and serenity during my visit.
Alan Y — Google review
Visited Mahattamangkalaram Temple (Wat Hat Yai Nai) during our trip. The temple holds cultural significance and is known for housing one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in Thailand. However, there's not much else to do around the area. The temple’s exterior and paintings appear faded and could benefit from some maintenance and restoration to preserve its beauty. The visit can be completed in about 30 minutes. It’s an okay spot for a quick cultural stop, especially if you haven’t been before. Suitable for a one-time visit to appreciate its historical and spiritual value.

ASEAN Night Bazaar Hatyai

Mentioned on
14 lists
Night market
Shopping
ASEAN Night Bazaar Hatyai is a bustling covered market that attracts both locals and tourists, offering a wide array of clothing, souvenirs, and classic Thai dishes. Spread over two floors, this night market is particularly popular among Muslim travelers. The ground floor features stalls selling affordable clothes, shoes, watches, and beauty products like facial masks with samples for testing. While prices may be higher compared to other markets in the area, visitors can still try their hand at bargaining.
This place have lots stalls selling garments, parking lots are plenty, but due to the crowd, parking lots are quite hard to find. There is a small food court on top of the place, offer some local food with reasonable price. But i strongly recommend the organizer make some improvement on ventilation of the market as it is so hot in there.
Alphonse E — Google review
Variety of items and food for tourists. Located very close to Greenway market so you can enjoy shopping at the 2 places next to each other. Note that it's open in the evening and closed on Monday so check carefully before coming.
Ben W — Google review
Food - 5 stars. Cin Cao drink is soooo good & refreshing although it's milky? The tom yum from the yellow shop is the best tom yum we've had thus far (from a night market standard). The kerabu kaki ayam from the red shop is also good & the auntie who makes it is super sweet as well. Price wise - Very reasonable. Souvenir - Souvenir prices here are ok. It's not very cheap but not that expensive either. Recommended for the keychains / shirts / fridge magnets / typical souvenir with Hatyai or Thailand stamped on it hahah But for the inhalers (brand names), I think u can find cheaper elsewhere? For example I got 2 inhalers for 150B but I could get 6 for 180B from 7E. Clothes - The pricing here is a hit or miss. I would say it's kind of pricey for an okay-ish quality garments? But they are pretty generous with the discounts if you seem interested browsing their items haha Payment Method - For the food I think all places accept cash & QR. But for the clothes, some of them only accept cash although most of them accept QR payments. No card payments here.
Shary J — Google review
Masya Allah, Subhanallah… you will be spoiled for choice here, as there are so many things that can be bought as long as you have the money.☺️ There are a lot of choices to choose from, some good quality and some not, so be careful and inspect thoroughly the stuff that you want to buy. Price is reasonable, but if you’re good at bargaining perhaps you can get a good price. The food upstairs is also great, many to choose from, so much so you don’t know what to choose, cos’ one can only eat as much. ☺️ Food is mostly halal. The place gets very crowded on weekends. So please be careful and take care of your handbags and wallets. Also make sure the small children are safe and closely guarded under watchful eyes. Happy shopping and enjoy the food too.
Rahmah R — Google review
Food here is 💯! Must-try: Chin Cao (ask for less sugar, manih potong kaki), tendon soup, fried mussel and seafood kerabu makcik kalut (ask for less spicy). Visited on a Sunday night — not too crowded.
Hidayah I — Google review
Many clothes and medicine selling with avarage same price, got food at upstairs and ground floor but difficult to find empty spaces, all full.. Suggest find place and reserved by our member 1st then others can one by one buy, food just nearest. Many tuk tuk waiting outside the market, better bargain, sometimes some of them put highly prices, better go by group its more cheaper.

ASEAN Night Bazaar in Hatyai is one of the more popular night markets in the city, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a lively evening activity. I visited the market after dinner and had a great time walking around and exploring the variety of stalls. The environment here is well organized, with stalls neatly arranged, making it easy to navigate even when the crowd gets larger. Compared to some other night markets that can feel messy or overwhelming, ASEAN Night Bazaar is more structured, which makes the shopping experience smoother and more enjoyable. There are plenty of stalls offering a wide range of products, from clothing, shoes, and accessories to souvenirs and small household items. If you enjoy browsing for fashion or picking up a few affordable items, this market is a good place to do so. The prices are reasonable, and with a little bargaining, you can often get even better deals. Of course, no night market visit is complete without trying some food. Although I had already eaten dinner, I noticed that there were many food stalls offering different types of dishes. What’s nice is that the food here is Muslim-friendly, making it an excellent choice for Malay friends or anyone looking for halal options. Portions match the price, and from what I tried, the taste was not bad at all — simple, flavorful, and satisfying for street food. Overall, ASEAN Night Bazaar is a great place to spend an evening in Hatyai. Even if you don’t plan to shop a lot, it’s fun just to walk around, soak in the atmosphere, and maybe enjoy a few snacks. If you’re traveling with friends or family, especially Malay friends, this is a highly recommended spot for shopping and food in a Muslim-friendly environment.

Kim Yong Market

Flea & Street Markets
Kim Yong Market is a bustling and no-nonsense marketplace in Hat Yai, Thailand. It offers a wide variety of goods, including imported snacks, dried fruits, souvenirs, fresh produce, seafood, and street food. The market is known for its vibrant atmosphere and is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to explore the diverse range of products available. Additionally, it's located near several dining options where visitors can enjoy delicious Malaysian and Southern Thai cuisine after their shopping spree at the market.
My first time visiting this local market in Hat Yai and I am also a first time visitor to Hat Yai. It was certainly a worthwhile adventure for me seeing the roadside stalls selling flowers, fresh produce and meats etcetera, and seeing the same mix of stalls in the New Kimyong Market or Kim Yong Marketplace two-level building - where the upper flow hosts stalls selling clothes and electrical and electronic products. That said, I prefer window shopping at the roadside of Kim Yong as the corridors in the two-level building were very poorly ventilated. I highly recommend a visit here if you are visiting Hat Yai.
Edtayjb — Google review
Medium-sized local market that sells a wide variety of items. The first floor where tourists usually visit are filled with stalls that sells nuts and other dried foods. I recommend to visit their second floor too, they have a wider range of stores from electronics to antiques. Otherwise the market doesn't offer too much to see, a short visit will suffice.
Yuhng Y — Google review
Kim Yong Market is one of the most famous markets in Hatyai, so I decided to check it out during my trip. It’s definitely a place full of energy, but I have to admit my experience here was quite mixed. The market itself is very busy, with narrow lanes packed with stalls selling everything from local snacks, dried fruits, nuts, clothes, accessories, and more. The environment feels a bit cramped, especially when it gets crowded, so be prepared to squeeze through the lanes and move along with the flow of people. The prices here are reasonable, but not necessarily the cheapest. If you enjoy bargaining, this is the place to practice your negotiation skills — you can usually get a better deal if you ask politely. One thing that stood out to me was the attitude of the stall owners and staff. Many of them are very aggressive in trying to get your attention. Some will call out to you repeatedly, encourage you to taste their nuts or snacks, and push for a sale. While I appreciated the friendliness of a few stall owners who stayed cheerful even when I didn’t buy anything, there were also some who showed a “black face” or looked unhappy when I didn’t purchase after trying. This made the experience a little uncomfortable at times. Overall, I would say Kim Yong Market is worth a quick visit if you are nearby and want to see what a busy local market feels like, but it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. The experience is moderate — interesting to walk through once, but I wouldn’t call it a must-visit. If you go, just be prepared for the crowds, the pushy sales tactics, and take your time to explore and bargain politely for the best experience.
Zen Y — Google review
Kim Yong Market is one of those places you have to visit when in Hatyai! It’s lively, colorful, and full of local goodies. One of the must-tries here is Kaitod Meena — their fried chicken is super crispy and flavorful! But be prepared to queue because it’s really popular. There’s no proper place to sit and eat, so it’s best to take away and enjoy your food somewhere nearby. Aside from food, the market also sells a wide variety of nuts, dried fruits, and snacks — perfect for souvenirs or munching on while exploring. Overall, a fun and authentic local market experience — crowded but worth every minute!
Nadira F — Google review
Kim Yong Market is one of the main attractions in Hatyai. It is named after the wealthy original landowner. In the building, there are many stalls selling all kinds of nuts, dried fruits, sweets, tidbits, clothes, souvenirs, etc. The road beside the market is an interesting place to visit in the morning, from 6.00am to about 11.00am. Makeshift stalls, pushcarts and small eating shops line the whole length of the road. Fresh flowers, vegetables, fruits, local breakfast foods including noodles, rice, dumplings, cakes and desserts are sold. It is a place not to miss in Hatyai.
CS C — Google review
Morning fresh market outside is good for strolling to observe the locals' way of life, food and culture. Plenty of fruits, snacks and variety of local dishes eg. Malay, halal, Thai, Chinese. If you ride the train and get out from the station, the market is only 15 minutes walk away. Note that many sellers speak Malay, Thai, Chinese, reflecting how diverse the locals and visitors are. Also not too far apart are Santisuk and Lee Gardens markets but they are not open at the same timing so check first before coming.
Ben W — Google review
A must-visit market in Hatyai! Kim Yong Market offers a wide range of local snacks, imported goods, dried foods, nuts, chocolates, and fresh fruits at very affordable prices. It’s the perfect place to buy souvenirs and snacks to bring home. The atmosphere is lively and vibrant, with friendly vendors and lots of great deals. I love how easy it is to walk around, and the morning vibes are especially nice. Don’t forget to try the local street food around the market too! Highly recommended for both first-time and returning visitors.
Azah F — Google review
Whenever I visit Hatyai, I always make sure to spend one morning at Kim Yong Market to buy souvenirs like nuts, snacks, and more. 🛍️ The prices are very reasonable, and I believe this morning market is also a favorite spot for many older folks – my mom is definitely one of them 🤭. Tip: The earlier you come, the better! 🌞

Greenway Night Market is a lively and colorful marketplace with various stalls offering trendy fashion items, accessories, and delicious snacks. It's a popular spot in Hat Yai where locals and tourists can explore the latest fashion trends while indulging in local delicacies. The market provides an exciting shopping experience with its vibrant atmosphere and diverse offerings. Additionally, it's conveniently located within the city, making it easily accessible for visitors to enjoy an evening of shopping and dining.
A nice place for night shopping. there is a food court in here as well, they have variety of food here, halal food is available too. Shopping area are wide & open, but some time could be hard to drive here as too crowded & parking lots are full.

Walked to this place after dinner. Well space stalls and a variety of options. Food is one section and others another section. Good atmosphere. Friendly sales and lots of little things. Items are well priced too. Quite many items non negotiable, guess they might really be at value alr? Can feel free to look. Feel that it's Slightly smaller than ASEAN Night Bazaar but the variety is more varied.
Will — Google review
Not so crowded but still a lot of patrons. Food are separated at Greenway Food Station and clothes and souveniers at Greenway Street Life. Some sell bundle clothes like a flea market, manicure and pedicure stations are full at 2 rows. Beautiful clothes. Need to buy card in order to buy food here. There are places to dine in at the side and upper floor at the food station.

Visited Greenway Night Market in Hatyai and had a really enjoyable experience! This night market is one of the must-visit spots in Hatyai, and I can see why so many people recommend it. It’s lively, colorful, and full of energy — perfect if you love exploring local food and shopping stalls. The staff at most stalls were friendly and attentive. They were patient even when the place got busy, and it was easy to communicate with them when ordering food or asking about prices. This made the whole experience much smoother and more pleasant. The environment can be quite crowded, especially on weekends, but it still feels comfortable to walk around. The stalls are arranged in an organized way, so you can take your time to browse without feeling too rushed or stuck in a jam. It has that fun night market vibe without being too chaotic. Prices are acceptable and fair for a tourist area. Some food stalls offer really good deals with generous portions, which makes it worth trying different items. The food taste overall is average — not the very best I’ve had in Thailand, but definitely good enough to enjoy while exploring the market. Besides food, there are also lots of stalls selling clothes, accessories, and souvenirs. I managed to find some good bargains and was happy with my purchases. A highlight of my visit was meeting a Thai KOL at her food stall — she was super friendly and even let me take a quick photo with her, which made the visit extra memorable. Personally, I prefer Greenway Night Market over ASEAN Night Bazaar. Greenway has more variety, especially when it comes to non-halal food options, so there’s more to explore and try. Overall, it’s a fun spot to spend an evening, enjoy some food, shop for deals, and soak in the lively Hatyai atmosphere. Definitely worth adding to your itinerary!

Last week I was in Hatyai for a short holiday with a few of my friends who have not been to Hatyai before. Since this was our first trip out of our country, Malaysia, we were all pretty excited n were looking out for some bargain shopping as we were loaded with Thai baht ! Our tour guide took us to this place once we landed in Hatyai. It was already 6.30 pm n dinner time for us. It was free n easy shopping n dinner was on our own. Wow! This night market was huge n the whole market place was tented n with a roof . So even if it rained , you can still shop n eat at your leisure being protected from the rain. It was also brightly lit up n the whole place was swamped by mostly foreign n local tourists. But I find that the clothes they sell cater mainly to the young n fashionable, not so much for the seniors nor elderly. I was amazed by the goods available on sale. Whatever you want, you can easily get it here. But there are no branded nor luxury items here. They cater to the lower n middle income group. They sell fashionable shirts, blouses , shorts, hot pants n long pants , shawls , dresses n children’s clothes. Plenty of different types of socks - long n short ones - are sold here. Most of the stalls situated close to one another sell similar wares n goods n so they are neck to neck competitors. All types of gents’ n ladies’ shoes, slippers n sandals are plentiful here. This place is full of Thai souvenirs n ladies’ accessories n makeup products. Then the next section are the food n drink stalls selling local Thai cuisine. A lot of choices here. We have to change our Thai baht to coupons before we can buy our dinner at the stalls. I find this is a very good system as any unused coupon can be changed back to Thai baht for us. Some of my friends ate rice with the Thai pig trotters n they said it’s super delicious. I ate the Thai sticky mango rice which was superbly yummy. With that , we left this place n headed back to our hotel.

Trendy, clean, and fun! Greenway Night Market is one of the best night markets in Hatyai. It has a great mix of affordable clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories, mostly targeted at young adults and teenagers. The market layout is clean and well-organized, making it comfortable to walk around and browse. The food court area is also a highlight, so many local Thai snacks, drinks, and halal-friendly options. There's live music, chill vibes, and plenty of seats to enjoy your food. A perfect place to shop and relax at night! Highly recommended if you're looking for fashion items or just want to enjoy the night scene in Hatyai.

Lots of girls' stuff, snacks, and plenty of food including halal, Malay and Thai food. Located not far from Asean night market so you have 2 night markets to enjoy located next to each other. Note that it's closed on Monday and open only in the evening so check first before coming.
Ben W — Google review
We arrived rather early, and the sellers in the bazaar were still setting up their stalls/ stores. Some had not even opened their stores yet. Just like the Asean Night Bazaar, this bazaar is also huge, with lots of things that you can imagine being sold here. Since we were early, we decided to sit around for a while, and watched the busy sellers setting up their stalls. After a while, we decided to walk to the Asean Night Bazaar, which is not too far from this Greenway Night Market.

Wat Chue Chang, located in Hat Yai city, is a symbol of the Chinese community's influence in the area. The temple features beautiful architecture and intricate detailing, with a distinctive green gate that makes it a local landmark. While under renovation during some visits, the temple boasts colorful decorations on its walls and tiles, making it a great spot for photos. Its unique style combines Chinese influences with traditional Thai design elements.
Such a beautiful temple to visit. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to see the Chinese deities, wonderful architecture, and seamless symmetry. I would 100% come back. Mind blowing! 🤯

Very nice and scenic temple located in the middle of the hustle city. Walkable from town and I really enjoyed walking here. I’m not going inside the temple because I’m wearing short pants and I feel bad if I do because this is religious place for Buddhist. Surely will visit again to explore the interior 😎

Nice and big temple in the middle of Hat Yai! A guy there was so nice to tell me that I can go up to the 4th floor. There are a lot of interesting rooms with nice decoration and ornaments. On the rooftop there was something like a ceremony ongoing, which tourists were welcome to watch. At the entrance you can donate something to keep this wonderful temple in good condition. Recommend coming here!

Visited 合艾慈善寺 (Wat Chue Chang) during my trip to Hatyai, and it turned out to be a memorable experience. This is a very unique Chinese temple that stands out for its architecture and peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal place for both visitors and devotees who wish to spend some quiet moments in prayer and reflection. The staff here are friendly and helpful, always willing to guide or provide assistance if you have questions about the temple or its facilities. Their welcoming nature adds to the overall positive impression of this spiritual site. The environment is very comfortable, peaceful, and clean, creating a calming space for praying and meditation. Even though the temple is currently undergoing renovation and expansion, it does not disturb the visitors. Instead, it is quite inspiring to see how the temple is continuing to grow, with more Buddhas and structures being added, showing the dedication and vision of the community supporting it. One of the most fascinating features of Wat Chue Chang is its walls built with mosaic designs, which give the temple a distinctive charm compared to other temples in Hatyai. The colorful and detailed work adds beauty and uniqueness to the overall structure, making it a wonderful spot not just for praying but also for appreciating cultural and artistic craftsmanship. Another highlight is the impressive view from the top of the temple. After climbing up, you are rewarded with a beautiful panorama of Hatyai city and its surroundings. It’s a great spot to pause, take photos, and soak in the tranquil atmosphere while enjoying the scenery. The temple is also accessible with no entrance fee, which makes it an open and welcoming place for everyone, whether you come for spiritual reasons or simply to admire its design and views. Overall, Wat Chue Chang is a special temple worth visiting in Hatyai. Its unique mosaic walls, peaceful atmosphere, ongoing expansion, and scenic view from the top all make it a rewarding stop for both tourists and devotees.

Cable Car Hat Yai City

Mentioned on
+3 other lists
Cable Car Hat Yai City offers a unique experience with its surrounding area featuring a massive golden Buddha statue at the main entrance. While the cable car may not always be operational, visitors can walk or drive to the top for stunning views of the city and enjoy strong winds. The one-way trip provides picturesque views from the hillside to Hatyai city. Additionally, visitors can take a short but steep walk up to the top when maintenance is ongoing.
The Hatyai Cable Car is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something relaxing yet memorable in Hat Yai. Although the ride itself is not very long, the view from above makes it special. You get a clear panorama of the city, the surrounding greenery, and the famous Golden Buddha statue at the Municipal Park. On a clear day, the scenery is breathtaking and a great spot for photos. The cable car is well maintained, and the ride feels safe and comfortable. Ticket prices are reasonable, making it good value for both families and solo travelers. The experience is peaceful and gives you a different perspective of the city compared to the busy streets and markets below. I recommend going in the morning or late afternoon, when the weather is cooler and visibility is better. Sunset can be especially beautiful if you’re lucky with the timing. It’s also less crowded during these times, so you can enjoy the ride without rushing. Overall, this is not the most dramatic cable car ride in Thailand, but it is a simple, pleasant activity that adds variety to your trip. Definitely worth trying at least once when in Hat Yai.

Visited the Hatyai Municipal Park cable car expecting a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst moments of our trip. The ticket counter staff showed a very poor attitude—she was on her phone the entire time, even when we stood right in front of her and called out several times. Instead of attending to us, she rudely gestured for us to wait while continuing her personal call. Only after she was done, she processed our tickets. We were told we could board the cable car immediately, and there was no queue. However, despite empty gondolas available, we were made to wait 5–10 minutes. I had mentioned to the staff that I needed to take a video for my YouTube channel and preferred an empty gondola, especially since it was a weekday and the place was not crowded. Instead of being accommodating, they tried to push me to pay 1,600 baht for a private ride, which is absurd. When a gondola arrived, they insisted I board with a large family (5 adults, 3 children) despite there being clearly not enough space. I explained it would be uncomfortable and not feasible, yet the staff kept insisting it was “sufficient.” It felt like a money-grabbing tactic rather than good customer service. When I finally asked for a cancellation and refund, the same staff at the ticket counter showed no apology or courtesy and even displayed her arrogant attitude proudly on camera. It was clear she had no intention of providing a good guest experience. The ride itself is very short—around 10 minutes both ways—and costs 200 baht per person. Frankly, the view from the park itself is just as good, if not better. Definitely not worth the hassle or the money. Not recommended at all. Save your time and skip this attraction if you value decent service and honest treatment.

I have been here before to see the top view of the city at night. The atmosphere was pleasant and there were many people. This time, I came in the afternoon. The sun was hot and there were fewer people, but the view was very clear. You could see all the way to a long mountain range.

As a first-time taking the Hat Yai Cable Car was a fantastic experience and a great introduction to the area. The ride itself was very affordable and offered surprisingly good, panoramic views of the city and surrounding green hills. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the short journey smooth and enjoyable. I particularly loved visiting the Four-Faced Brahma Shrine at the top, which is adorned with countless elephant statues—big and small—that people leave as offerings. It’s a beautifully unique cultural sight and easily one of the highlights of the municipal park.

Very short ride but can still get our kid excited. Nothing much to see on the other side, just another temple. The ticket lady had some attitude problem!
Zahara Z — Google review
I was looking forward to taking the cable car, but I didn’t realize it was such a short ride. Dual pricing for foreigners is 200 Baht instead of 100 and I don’t think it’s worth it. The view is nice from the park. If you haven’t been on a cable car, it may be worth it. I’ve been on some spectacular ones, so I will pass.
Alain S — Google review
Terrible experience and extremely poor customer service. Our group had 6 people, yet one staff insisted that we must be 8 to take the cable car — otherwise, we had to queue again. This makes absolutely no sense, as I saw many other groups of 4 and 6 going up without any issue. It was clear the rules were applied unfairly and only to us. The staff’s attitude was rude, unhelpful, and completely unprofessional. Instead of assisting visitors, they were more interested in making things difficult. We paid 200 THB per person for a short and disappointing ride, only to be treated like we did something wrong. This kind of behavior gives a terrible image to the place and to Thailand’s tourism in general. There should be proper training for the staff and clear, consistent rules for all visitors — not selective enforcement that feels like a scam because they ask me to add 400baht if i want to ride with 6 people. I would not recommend this place at all. Totally disappointing and not worth the money.
Umar K — Google review
Be careful with this place. The staff enforce rules randomly and treat visitors unfairly. We were six people and were told we couldn’t ride unless there were eight, even though other groups of four or six went up right before us. It makes no sense and feels dishonest. For 200 THB per person, you expect at least decent service — but instead, we got rude behavior and zero respect. Very disappointing experience. Definitely not recommended for tourists. This place needs serious improvement in staff training and attitude.

Santisuk Market is a bustling and vibrant market located within walking distance from Hatyai town center. It offers a wide range of products, including clothing, electronics, housewares, and street food. Visitors can explore stalls selling electronic goods, apparel, cosmetics, leather products, souvenirs, local dried products, and snacks. The market is popular among families as it provides an opportunity to shop for clothing, accessories, toys, and fresh produce while also indulging in local street food.
My advice, for more halal food here, because there are many tourists from Malaysia and Indonesia. Always success for santisuk market.

The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum in Hat Yai is a contemporary museum offering a diverse range of exhibits. It is located within the Songkhla University compound and features three floors dedicated to Earth Study, Diversity of Life, and Ecosystem. The museum boasts an impressive collection of zoological and geological samples, stuffed animals, marine dioramas, dinosaur exhibits, human evolution displays, and geological formations.
A place for you and your family to spend time together learn about the nature, solar system, dinosaurs etc. Worth to visit, just take grab car to this museum. This place is well kept and air conditioned too. It is located in the Prince of Songkla University, on the west part of the Faculty of Science.

The museum is located in the university, accessible via grab. 20bht entrance fee and a small gift shop. The building has a spiral design, it starts with displays on cosmogenesis and slowly works its way up through the Cambrian all the way to the Holocene. There are many small fossils of trilobites, bivalves and fish. The displays are simple and engaging. There is a wealth of information and every effort made to make it fun for children and adults. This museum is full experience and obviously a labour of love by its designers and curators. Even the toilet stalls are labelled and informative. One of the best natural history museums i've visited in the region.

This museum located at university compound consists of 3 floors namely Earth Study, Diversity of Life and Ecosystem. There's many rare finds in their exhibition. Neat display with educational information. The amount of animal specimens in this museum is impressive. However the exhibition description mostly in Thai language, only some has English translation. I hope they can add English translation to all descriptions so that foreigners can understand. Ticket is cheap and worth it. Local or foreigner all same price 30baht (adult ticket). Open Tuesdays to Saturdays 9am-4pm. Close on Sundays and public holiday.

Very good museum for family, especially with children. Take note that to purchase merchandice, no foreign QR nor charge cards are accepted at time of posting. All transactions are to be done via cash or Thai QR (Promptpay, but not TnG compatible) only. There is a Promptpay QR at counter, however the receptionist was very reluctant for me to use it for the entrance ticket. Ticket price: Adult - 30 Baht Child - 20 Baht >60yo - FOC

This is Natural History museum so there's a lot of animal history, human history, and earth history. Came during Children's day so museum full with kids decorations. Lovely. And the entrance fee is free so basically it's our luck. There's a lot of informatiom that we can't read because it's written in thai and no 2nd language. But google lens saved us 😂😂 although we didn't really do it one by one. There's a lot of kisa so we kinda go through it.

I always take a walk or jogging at this place. Fresh air in early morning. Convenient road, fully cover with a lot of trees like you're under nature blanket. The place is really safe even you are the woman who wanna walk alone. Sometimes, I went around 5pm and finished about 7 or 8pm. But still somebody walking there. If you plan to visit Hatyai, i recommended to visit this good view point in Hatyai as well.

Great view. Went there twice during my trip back in August 2025. The view was breathtaking! It is part of a big municipal park. So you can walk down the hill after enjoying the sunset and enjoy the view.

Kho Hong Mountain, located within the Hat Yai Municipal Park, is a natural gem that showcases the beauty of Thailand's southern landscape. Its lush greenery, breathtaking views, and serene environment make it a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. One of the highlights of Kho Hong Mountain is the opportunity for outdoor activities. Hiking trails wind up to the peak, offering a moderate challenge for nature enthusiasts and providing spectacular panoramic views of Hat Yai and the surrounding area. on the top there is also Buddhist temple with the Golden Buddha Statue seen even from very far distance. Another appealing aspect of Kho Hong Mountain is the sense of tranquility it offers. The park is well-maintained, with picnic areas and sculptures that contribute to a relaxing atmosphere. It's a great spot for families and friends to gather, unwind, and enjoy nature together. In my opinion, Kho Hong Mountain is not only a natural wonder but also an important part of Hat Yai's community. It encourages an appreciation for the environment, promotes physical activity, and fosters a sense of unity. As urbanization continues to expand, having such green spaces is essential for enhancing quality of life and preserving the natural beauty of the region.

Visited Kho Hong Mountain Vista Point during my trip to Hatyai, and it turned out to be one of the most peaceful and scenic spots I visited. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a nice view of the city while escaping the hustle and bustle, this is definitely worth the stop. The staff at the area were friendly and helpful, making visitors feel welcome. They were approachable and willing to give directions or provide some basic information about the place. Even though it’s mainly a vista point, their presence made the visit smooth and safe. The environment here is very calm and relaxing. As you reach the top, the surroundings become quieter, and you immediately feel a sense of peace. It’s a nice place to sit down, slow down, and simply enjoy the moment. For those who like photography, it’s a great opportunity to capture some beautiful shots of Hatyai city from above. The view from Kho Hong Mountain is stunning. You can see Hatyai from a different perspective, with a wide panoramic view that looks especially nice during the early morning or late afternoon when the light is soft and the weather is cooler. It’s a perfect spot to take in the scenery and reflect. There is no entrance fee, and although there is no food or drink service here, the experience is more about enjoying the tranquility and the natural beauty. Overall, Kho Hong Mountain Vista Point is a great place to visit if you want to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and one of the best views of Hatyai. It’s ideal for travelers who appreciate quiet moments, nature, and scenic lookouts. Highly recommended for a quick stop during your trip, especially if you want to enjoy the sunset or sunrise over the city.

The food service very quick after ordered, guess most of the food is already ready cooked made, just re-heated. The seafood tom yum is nice but soup is a bit warm, not enough hot. The kailan salty fish is nice, others food is okay but seem like the standard is poorer than last visit. Maybe change Chief? The staff who order is impatient waiting, but overall the dine in experience is acceptable. This is the place to have food with reasonable price. All price listed in the menu. Chokdee Dim Sum

Dim sum restaurant
Chokdee Dim Sum is a laid-back restaurant in Hat Yai that serves delicious dim sum for breakfast and dinner. Located in the bustling urban area where Thailand and Malaysia meet, this eatery offers an unpretentious atmosphere. With its affordable prices, it's a great spot to enjoy authentic dim sum dishes. If you're looking for a casual dining experience with tasty food, Chokdee Dim Sum is definitely worth a visit during your time in Hat Yai.
Amazing dimsum place, definitely not overhyped. There's still quite a queue even at 10am. You order by taking a table number and a tray from the stuff, and pick any dimsum you want from their wide range of selection. They will steam it and sent it to your table. They have multiple stores with seating area around the block, some seatings stores are opposite the road. They also have a bakkutteh store which I highly recommend to give it a try. The soup is a bit different from what we usually have in Malaysia, but still very delicious. Best part is definitely their pork cuts inside, super tender and soft, literally melts in your mouth. Highly recommend getting more of their Thai specialty dimsum instead of classic ones you usually see in Malaysia for a more unique experience. Some highlights includes the steam cob and meat dimsum, various types of siewmai, and glutinous rice chicken. Their har gao is a flop tho, dry and tasteless, can skip it. Recommended.

This place offers variety of Chinese style dim sum & Bak Kut Teh (Chinese clay pot sup with pork). Pricing wise is reasonable, but some time it might crowded with tourists from other province & Malaysia. Parking are plenty, park free at roadside, but beware! do not park at red white line or against the traffic as your car will be locked by traffic police & unlocking fee is whooping 1000baht!! They have another hall opposite their outlet, customer can take seat at either side & order food they want.

If you’re visiting Hatyai, Chokdee Dim Sum is definitely one of those breakfast spots that locals and tourists alike recommend, so I decided to give it a try. It was a good experience overall, and I can see why it’s so popular. The staff here are friendly and attentive, even though the place was quite busy during breakfast hours. Service was quick, and they patiently guided me through the dim sum selection process, which is a nice touch if it’s your first time there. There are two dining areas – the main store and a newer, more spacious dining area just opposite. I chose to sit in the main store, as it is closer to the dim sum counter and has a more authentic, bustling atmosphere. The main store feels a bit more “classic,” while the newer section seems to cater to larger groups and tourists. The price is reasonable and in line with what you would expect for a well-known dim sum place. The portions are small, but they match the price, which makes it easy to order and try a variety of dishes without wasting food. Taste-wise, the dim sum itself was decent – I would say it was just ordinary compared to other places I have tried, but still enjoyable. I also ordered their Bah Kut Teh, which was slightly salty for my liking, though taste can be very subjective and others might find it just right. Overall, Chokdee Dim Sum is a nice breakfast experience if you are in Hatyai. The variety of dishes, reasonable pricing, and lively atmosphere make it worth a visit. Just be sure to go early, as the place can get really crowded during peak hours.

Bustling old school dimsum place right in the middle of the city. A must have for breakfast! Also, their thai tea is one of the best in the city. Very affordable price.

Since 1996, this beloved spot has been serving up mountains of delicious, affordable dim sum. The experience is part of the fun: just pick your favourites from the counter, and the staff steams them on the spot, delivering each one piping hot to your table. Don't let the crowds scare you away! Their efficient system means you'll be seated in no time, ready to dig into classic dim sum or their famous Bak Kut Teh. With three locations, it’s easier than ever to get a taste of this local legend.

What's great? Loved the you tiao with Kaya dip the most. Got 2 sets of it. Yam bun is so nicely oozing out! Amazing place with nice decorations. Get a seat number slip from the main shop, then cross the road to choose your steam dim sum from another shop, then cross back. No need to go over, if you do not want steamed stuff. Very crowded, but moves very fast. Visit again? Yes! What's to improve? Bak kut teh and steam pork ribs are ok. Not fantastic.

I have come across several establishments in Hat Yai, such as Bansuan Coffee, The Basil, Billin Cafe Bistro, and many others. However, one restaurant that stands out is Homeless Bar & Grill. This particular bar and grill has been highly recommended for its remarkable food quality. If you are seeking Western cuisine in Hat Yai, then this place is a must-visit. Their pork ribs are particularly impressive and can be considered among the finest I have tasted recently.
This restaurant offers an excellent dining experience. Food: The food was absolutely delicious and bursting with flavor—truly a standout. We had dinner at a lovely restaurant called Homeless House. The smoked pork ribs came highly recommended, so we had to give them a try—and they certainly didn’t disappoint. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the sauce was the perfect complement. We also tried the halibut and chicken wings, which was equally delicious. I had a fizzy peach drink, which was refreshing. I’m already looking forward to returning and sampling more of their menu. Plus the atmosphere and interior is cozy vibes with live acoustic singer.

Nice halal place to eat at Hat Yai. Need to purchase the coupon first. 100THB, that acts like a "currency" within the eatery. The staffs can speak fluent Malay. Service are fast. The Nasi Kerabu is the killer. You can also try their Roti Canai.

A Great Spot for Breakfast! There’s a huge variety of breakfast options available – from roti canai, maggi, cakoi, satay, nasi kerabu to mixed rice and more. One unique thing is the token system: you need to change cash to tokens at the counter first, and then use those tokens to purchase your food.

Clean place with delicious food right in the heart of Hat Yai city. A great variety of halal options to choose from — including Laksa Siam, noodles, roti canai, nasi kerabu, and even crispy pau goreng. Perfect spot for breakfast. Highly recommended!

I recently dined at this delightful restaurant and had an amazing experience. The food was simply outstanding, bursting with flavors that left a lasting impression. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, each prepared to perfection. It was a pleasant surprise to see many tourists from Malaysia enjoying their meals. I also had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people from Indonesia and Brunei, which added to the overall enjoyable atmosphere. This place is definitely a must-visit for anyone looking to savor some delicious food and meet interesting people from different cultures.

There are plenty to choose from the menu items, and it's based more on Malaysian food. However, the food does not hit the mark for someone that eats Malaysian food daily. Best to avoid those menu items and instead opt for Thai based menu items which tastes authentic. The prices here are reasonable, with all menu items with prices stated. Special mention to the tempura squid which was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The atmosphere is OK, somewhat dated but maintained clean.

This shop uses a coupon system, you need to buy coupons first before getting your food, and you can get a cashback for any unused ones. We came early for breakfast. Since there aren’t many breakfast options in the area, I imagine it gets quite crowded during peak hours, especially because the space is small. The food we tried was generally good, but I want to highlight one unpleasant experience. At the chakoi section, I was about to take a plate when the staff in charge suddenly raised her voice at me, telling me to buy a coupon first. It was quite rude and unnecessary. Luckily, I was too hungry to walk away, otherwise, I would have. Good food, but customer service needs improvement.

Wide range of food and varieties. Given 2 charcoal stoves. One for Mookata and for BBQ. Can choose to cook ourselves or ask them to cook, especially the larger items like fish and crabs. The seafood is fresh. The salt grilled fish was delicious. Just the environment was very hot due to heat from the stoves. But that is expected I guess. Not all areas can be installed with fans. Still enjoyed the meal.

Too many options of what to eat from their fresh seafood, fishballs section, meats, ready to eat food, their desserts and more. Overall food here is very good and delicious. The seafood is fresh. U can either cook yourself or ask them to cook for you. There are some you can make to order just have to let them know your table. Their drinks also have many options. Service is also very good. Just that if u are not local, u may need to go by ehailing as it’s quite far from the main city. Recommend to try. We all came out full and happy.

No time limit, you can eat from 4pm to 11pm Extensive selection of seafood, dessert, vegetables and meat. You get to choose the cooking style for the seafood you have chosen. The waitress cleaned up the table and refilled the food on time. Not air-conditioned but the place has good ventilation.

Visited what I’d call the best seafood mookata spot I’ve tried in Hat Yai, and it was an unforgettable experience. At around 500+ baht per person, the price is slightly higher than most local barbecue places, but I personally feel it’s worth every baht for the quality and variety offered. The seafood selection was outstanding — fresh river prawns, squid, clams, and fish, all prepared perfectly for grilling. What makes this place unique is a special section where you can hand over your chosen raw ingredients for the staff to cook according to your preferred style, which adds a personal touch to the meal. I focused mainly on the seafood, which was flavorful and fresh, while my companion sampled the meat and felt it wasn’t quite on par with the seafood. Still, for anyone craving a satisfying seafood mookata experience in Hat Yai, this spot is definitely a must-try.

Quite extensive seafood if early. If late, also still well stocked. But place quite large -about 100 tables so getting to the raw food material to cook is quite a way to go if not seated towards center.

The tender and flavorful chicken, perfectly cooked rice, and delicious complimentary soup make it a favorite among locals and tourists. Despite the relatively higher prices, the legendary quality of the food justifies the cost. The family-run eatery offers a chill atmosphere with a vintage aroma, making it a great place to visit.
Had one of most tender steam chicken in HatYai. Half Kampong Chicken B390/plate sharing. For whole chicken for 6pax B780. The meat is soft & tender 😋 and home made chilli is awesome to go with the chicken. Try their soup, it’s simply heart warming, not too salty…just pure broiled chicken essence !!!

Mui Kee is one of the oldest and most famous restaurants for chicken rice dishes. The taste of chicken and rice is superb. The chicken is tender and the rice is perfectly flavored and cooked. The soup is also good. The price is quite high compared to the others. But considering it’s legendary and quality, they deserve this price. The atmosphere around the shop is so chill and you can smell the vintage aroma. Good place to visit.

Owners originally from Hainan China. Very friendly and speks good Chinese. However as tender as the chicken meat was, and though the rice was flavoured, it just mixed the spot for me. The rice came with a dark coloured chilli sauce that was more vinegarry than spicy. I dont know where to put my finger on it, or if was just a tradirional type of condiment. However, I didnt enjoy it. The shop has an old time charm though.

An amazing family-run chicken rice shop. Chicken is super tender and juicy (even the chicken breast is really tender)! Rice is fragrant. The complimentary chicken soup/broth is good as well. If you fancy, you can also try the chicken liver and gizzard. One of my must-eat eateries in Hat Yai. Shops can get pretty busy on weekend. The boss and boss lady can speak Chinese.

Order the 1-person portion which came up to 80Baht if I did not remember wrongly. As you can see, I was served the boneless thigh. The meat was delicious and tender. The tangy chilli sauce really compliment the meat well. Rice was equally good as well. Highly recommended as well!

Bon Khao Restaurant is situated at Hatyai Municipal Park, offering a stunning view of the city and a perfect spot to watch the sunset. The restaurant has been around for quite some time and is known for its deep-fried pork knuckle. While it may be slightly pricier, the food is considered acceptable with fast service. The open-air dining area provides a picturesque setting, making it ideal for enjoying a meal or capturing memorable photographs.
Love the atmosphere of this restaurant: the views, the natural surroundings, the decorations. Especially when the sun dipped into the hills, it gave us a great chills. Their staff were very friendly and polite, and they also have a singer performing live on the little stage. Not only that, their foods were seriously great with reasonable price.

Great hill view of city. Outdoor sitting available to enjoy hillside views but can be humid and mosquito also. But they do put stand fans around to reduce the evening heat. Pork leg just nice, flaky. Steam lime fish just enough sour and not spicy since we request no chillies. Prawns with petai was the best dish very flavourful. Kerabu mango also very good. Service were very polite. You can even enjoy live singing at night.

A nice uphill dining place. Located within the forest reserve. Food serve is nice with reasonable price. Skip "pandan chicken" ..not very memorable. Cashew nut stir fried with chicken is a good try. Fried fish cake is also recommended. Nice view of the city and bay. If you dont mind mosquito..do come around evening to look at the sun set view. Need to arrange for transport to go uphill and down.

Super satisfied with our meal here. Every dish we ordered was beyond delicious, packed with local herbs and flavour. They are generous with the ingredients and the portion is big. A Taste of Authentic Thailand at Somtamchaba! Somtamchaba is an absolute gem for anyone craving truly authentic Thai food with perfectly well-balanced flavors. Every dish we tried was a testament to their culinary skill, hitting all the right notes of sweet, sour, spicy, and salty. The salt-grilled ruby fish was a standout – perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. It reached another level when enjoyed with the "ulam" cashew leaves. And don't even get me started on the Tom Yum; it was simply fantastic, a vibrant explosion of classic Thai tastes. If you're looking for an unforgettable and genuinely authentic Thai dining experience, look no further than Somtamchaba. You won't be disappointed!

Fast service restaurant serving variety of Thai food. Everything here was fresh, rich in flavour and came in a decent portion. The glass noodles with prawn had a good “wok hey” and prawns were fresh and sweet. Raw oysters were huge and fresh! The salt baked fish was fun to eat with the raw vegetables, noodles and sauces. Would recommend to use chicken wings for the grilled chicken in order for every corner to have a good crisp and more crunchy elements should be incorporated into the somtam.

The airport has not changed at all in the past 6 years, and the shops inside have not changed much either. The entire airport is very small, exit from the west gate and enter from the east gate. You will go through the security check directly at the entrance, and you will have to take out all the items in your pockets, especially liquid and metal items, and go through the machine. Although the airport is small, there are plenty of toilets. There are three toilets on each of the two floors, and they are all on one side (north). There are many shops and choices in the arrival hall on the first floor. The self-service check-in machines are also on the first floor. The departure hall on the second floor, domestic departures are on the east side, and international departures are on the west end. You must take off your shoes for international departures, and there is a special security shoe box. The inspection is quite strict (cumbersome), and electronic devices must be taken out for security inspection separately. My full backpack was manually inspected again because of the moxibustion treatment box, and later it was checked separately and passed. It is best to take out such wooden and metal items and go through security inspection separately. However, there was no trouble on the way out of Kuala Lumpur. Also, there are no shops in the international terminal, not even small stores. And the space is very small, everyone is crowded together, and there are not many seats. But it is still easy to find a seat, fortunately many people like to queue up in advance. About transportation: (for example: airport - central festival) From the airport to downtown Hat Yai: Public transportation includes minibus, 9:00-14:00, 60b per person. For airport taxis, one car costs 240-300b. You can call a taxi by app, you can use grab, bolt, maxim, indrive, lineman. I use indrive, which is the most cost-effective, about 150b. From downtown Hat Yai to the airport: Public transportation minibus is taken at Hat Yai bus terminal, which is very close to Central Festival and Asean Night Market, 8:30-13:30, 60b per person. But after 14:00, you can share a car there, buy a ticket at the minibus window, 100b per person, ordinary private car, depart on the hour. I haven't tried taking a taxi, no idea. Indrive is about 145b. The journey takes about 20-25 minutes. 🎬2024.12.22/2025.1.11/1.13/1.19

Just your average, small airport. Nothing to brag about. Place was clean. Not a lot of food options and definaltey no healthy options. Airlines didn’t let you check in early (only 1.5 hours before flight). A LOT of security as well - have to put your bags through a scanner on your way in, when you check in for your flight and another to get to the gate. Seemed rather excessive to me. Foot massage place before you get on your plane was wonderful although the woman who did mine was sick and I ended up getting sick later on from her.

I arrived here yesterday afternoon from Singapore. I am a first time visitor to Hat Yai. Unfortunately the airline that I flew with - Scoot - did not unload its passengers using an air-bridge. Instead, my fellow passengers and I had to take a long walk from the aircraft to the immigration area of the arrival hall. And there, most of us were unaware that Thailand had already implemented the Thailand Digital Arrival Card, so there was much fuss in completing it at the several kiosks made available in the immigration area. No fault of the Thai authorities as my fellow passengers and I should have checked before hand - although, it would have been helpful if Scoot had informed passengers on checkin in Singapore. Anyway, the immigration officers at the kiosks were very helpful and that was a lot of help. By the way, nice airport.

Surprised to see a food and drinks stall, duty free shop and a Thai products shop in the departure hall besides the toilet. This is such a good thing especially for fliers waiting for boarding. Outside the departure hall, there are quite a number of eateries, shops etc

A basic International airport and very basic at that. Having said that do not underestimate it's efficiency. The arrival and departure areas are small. Getting an ehailing cab during peak hours can be really difficult and we had to rely on the Taxi-o-meter which however refused to ply by the metre and used prices of their choice. Wait time was about 15 minutes. The arrival and departure areas are kinda shared and almost next to each other. The same shops cater to arriving and departing passengers. Yes one can find Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Cafe Amazon and a small Thai restaurant. One can also find the airport kopitiam tucked in a corner and gloony looking. There is a pretty useful 7-11 just outside the arrival area outside the airport say 80 metres away. Otherwise the airport is efficient, staff are good, security is strict, you gotta take off your shoes and watches. Immigration officers were friendly and awesome. No food or drinks in the departure lounge. So fill your stomachs before entering departure area if your hungry.

Trang Airport

Domestic airport
Trang Airport, located approximately 7 kilometers south of Trang city, is a small yet convenient airport served by three airlines. The passenger building can accommodate 300 passengers per hour and offers facilities such as shops, cafes, and restaurants. Travelers can easily access transportation to the city and tourist attractions from the airport.
Trang Airport is a small regional airport with limited facilities. It has a departure hall that can accommodate boarding for only 2 aircraft at a time. There are no jet bridges, so passengers must walk across the tarmac and step up onto the stairs to board the aircraft. This setup might appeal to aviation enthusiasts, as it offers a close-up view of the aircraft and a great opportunity for photos. The parking area at the airport is moderately sized, but during times when more than two flights operate simultaneously, parking might become challenging. In such cases, visitors may need to park along the roadside and walk a considerable distance to the terminal. Inside the terminal, there are 2 small souvenir shops and a local restaurant. All the establishments are well-decorated and clean, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The terminal building itself is also well-maintained, reflecting excellent management. Hopefully, the new terminal currently under construction will be completed and operational soon.

This airport quite strictly with rules and regulation ; for homemade stired fried curry which freez as ice is not allow to carry on . You can bring it by loading bag only ; like Dried Namprik or Krua Kring .The officer at the airport said the rules and regulations had changed a long time ago. I admitted that I wasn’t aware of it, as I always froze the food, placed it in a proper container, and carried it on with no issue before. However , if compare with another main province for traveling like Chaingmai , this kind of thing will be more easy . Especially for the local product that sales at airport also contain like Nam Prik Noom at Chiang Mai why they are allow to curry on the plan ,no need to loaing cuz the texture also not dried. This kind of things always the question in my mind all the time because same country but differant province and different treat. The only thing that I feel good is Air Asia Team Member ; They are very polite and professional .

Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Alor Setar may not be the busiest hub in Malaysia, but as a frequent traveler across Southeast Asia, I’ve found it surprisingly pleasant for what it is—a small regional airport that does its job well. The terminal is compact, which means you don’t waste time walking long distances or dealing with endless queues. Check-in and security are usually smooth and efficient, a welcome contrast to the congestion I often encounter in larger airports like Kuala Lumpur or Penang. The facilities are modest, but functional. There are a few eateries and convenience shops, enough for a quick bite or a coffee before boarding, though the options can feel limited if you’re used to the wide range available in bigger airports. Wi-Fi is available and generally reliable, which helps if you’re catching up on emails before a short flight. The staff here deserve a mention—they’re friendly, approachable, and embody the laid-back northern Malaysian hospitality. One of the best aspects is how stress-free arrivals and departures are. Baggage claim is fast, and getting a taxi or Grab is rarely a hassle. The airport’s proximity to Alor Setar city also makes it convenient, especially for business trips or quick weekend getaways to Langkawi via connecting flights. Of course, frequent flyers used to premium lounges and extensive retail might find it underwhelming. But Sultan Abdul Halim Airport delivers exactly what regional airports should: simplicity, efficiency, and a calm travel experience.

Beautiful airport at surrounding by paddy fields. Clean at all area. Toilets, surau, departure & arrival hall etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. From airlines staff, Malaysia Airport , security, F&B as well as janitors. Kedah Hospitality was great! Efficient service at departure floor. But baggage handling at arrival very poor. Conveyor belt very slow and didn’t concern for priority bag event though with tag. Need to improve

AOR (Alor Setar Airport) is a small, local airport offering a pleasant and straightforward experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making for a comfortable atmosphere. Access to the airport is easy, with clear signage to guide travelers through. One of the highlights of AOR is its stunning views of nearby paddy fields, adding a touch of natural beauty to the journey. Overall, it's a convenient and hassle-free airport, ideal for those flying locally.

I was here on Thursday about 2pm. Was empty. Clean. A few eateries like Old town white coffee, Starbucks, snacking kiosk like waffle and drinks Massage chairs available to use but need to insert RM notes OR the machine will make noise and disturb others & ATM Agrobank Machine available. Toilets are clean. Person from the air Asia counter is very friendly.

My honest review It's soo bad on their management systems. How could there be no one to check in during the business time. Especially related to those flights, do making sure those flights work properly according to their supposedly schedule. If fly at 3, then fly at three not at two. I do sound ridiculous, but it's my family that you mistreated on.

Love their coffee at the boarding gate. Cheap & delicious 🤤 give it a try nasi lemak + coffee + curry puff. Many seatings. The server is friendly & kind! 🥰 Only RM 8/$2!

It's a small airport where u get off the plane of the 1st floor of the building walk àbout 600m( there is an escalator going down) n u will reach the area to collect ur bags... There is 2 conveyor belt systems in the airport so u won't get lost. The customs officials r still laid back and polite so u can walk thru with minimum hassle.

Super smooth experience at Langkawi Airport! Arrived, cleared immigration, picked up bags and was outside in under 5 minutes. Very efficient and well-organised. There’s a decent selection of shops after arrivals for snacks, souvenirs or essentials. Parking and pick-up are quick and easy with clear signage. Great first welcome to the island — stress-free and convenient!

Langkawi International Airport is a clean, modern, and well-maintained airport that makes traveling in and out of Langkawi very convenient. The airport is not too big, so it’s easy to navigate, with clear signage and efficient check-in and security processes. There are plenty of shops, cafés, and duty-free outlets, making it a pleasant place to spend time before your flight. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, and baggage claim is smooth. A good first impression for visitors and a comfortable departure point for travelers.

My experience at Langkawi Airport was excellent from start to finish. One of the features I really appreciated was the luggage drop counter — if you check in online, there's no need to wait in the long lines. You can simply go straight to the baggage drop area. This system is so efficient, and honestly, I haven’t seen it in many other countries. A big thumbs up for that! I also spent some time in the airport lounge, which was a perfect way to relax before my flight. The open buffet offered a great selection of food and drinks, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Overall, everything at the airport was smooth, clean, and well-organized. I really love Malaysia, and Langkawi Airport left a great impression on me. Highly recommended!

Today I arrived at Langkawi International Airport from Kuala Lumpur, and it was my first visit to this amazing island. The airport is small but very clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. The atmosphere is calm, and the surrounding scenery is stunning-you can feel the island vibes as soon as you land. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything from baggage claim to exit was smooth. I also took some great photos and videos-it’s truly a beautiful gateway to Langkawi! Highly recommended for a comfortable travel experience.

Fairly small but compact airport Arrivals: once you step out of the plane, it’s a quick walk to the entrances. Baggage claim was a bit hectic, there aren’t many belts so everyone is trying to get their baggage all at once. There are several stores and restaurants inside. Once you exit, there is only one lane coming and exiting the airport. Departures: same entry at exit, but the door next to it. Check in was simple, there is only one small area with all the gates, there was an express Burger King, small bathroom, a store to purchase some items and 1 coffee shop. Once it’s time to board, you are led outside to your plane. The airport was clean and staff were nice.

Beautiful and well-maintained airport! ✈️ The design is modern yet reflects the island’s tropical charm. Easy check-in, friendly staff, and smooth arrival and departure experience. A great first impression of Langkawi and a lovely way to end the trip too! 🌴

A nice airport with many national and some international destinations. A great place to arrive and begin your journey and from there visit many islands in Malaysia and Thailand, such as Koh Lipe.
