Flea & Street Markets
Mercado Central de San Pedro is a lively covered market offering a variety of goods such as produce, meat, clothing, souvenirs, snacks, and fresh juices. Before visiting the market, you can explore the bohemian area of San Blas with its cobbled streets and Inca history. The neighborhood is known for its local artisans creating beautiful crafts sold at the Santurantikuy fair.
I ate such delicious healthy local food here cooked by the Indigenous women everyday during my week-long stay. I don’t understand why many tourists don’t eat here! Lunch with generous portions of a soup and entre for 8 soles or $2.5. Highly recommend and please tip them if you can even if it’s not expected :)
Indraneel D — Google review
It's not just tourists who eat and shops here, the locals do too. They've got local stuff, food, fresh produce, drinks, souvenirs, and even pisco. I love chicken soup, and a bunch of places sell it, but only the one on the corner is packed. It's so good, with a savory broth and juicy chicken. There are also lots of fresh fruit juice stands, and they're all good. They squeeze it fresh, no ice, no sugar, it's so fresh and delicious. You should check out this market before 10 am, otherwise, it'll be super crowded.
SPICY — Google review
Sprawling marketplace offering a large variety of everything from local arts and crafts to juices and smoothies. Great spot for people watching. Make sure to do some good natured negotiating before buying, it's expected and it can be a lot of fun!
Pablo P — Google review
A colorful and authentic local market! The San Pedro Market is a must-visit in Cusco. It’s full of life, colors, and amazing local products. You can find everything here — fresh fruits, local food, handmade crafts, and souvenirs. The atmosphere is lively and authentic, giving you a real taste of Peruvian culture. It’s also a great place to try traditional dishes and interact with friendly local vendors. Walking through the aisles is an experience full of scents, sounds, and smiles. A true gem in the heart of Cusco !
Aymen C — Google review
This is a fresh market with a wide variety of local souvenirs and food at very affordable prices. If you're looking to buy souvenirs to take home, this is the place to stop. Even on your way to the market, you'll find locals selling goods along the roadside at very reasonable prices.
Ran B — Google review
Our tour guide took us here and introduced us to some native fresh fruit and get to try few of them on the spot. Great experience. This is a genuine market place for the locals but also mixes in few tourists groups. It very humbling to see how hard people work here and how lucky we are.
Jesse L — Google review
Visit the local market for shopping. You can find quinoa, spices, small handbags, Sal de los Incas (Peruvian salt), and Peruvian cologne like Florida Water. They also offer mini souvenir sizes of the salt and cologne—perfect for gifts.
E.Sezen T — Google review
What an amazing cultural experience we had just walking around and visiting the meany vendors. From souvenirs, to Peruvian chocolates, and even food there is something for everyone. We felt very safe despite the crowds. The people for the most part were very friendly and willing to strike up deals.

Qorikancha

Mentioned on

Museum
Place of worship
Qorikancha, also known as the 'Court of Gold,' is a significant Inca ruin located in Peru. It was originally built to honor the sun god and was adorned with pure gold, including walls, altars, and life-size statues of plants and animals. However, much of its wealth was looted during the Spanish conquest.
Very neat place to check out. The history is fascinating and worth learning about. There is great art work and some incredible woodworking. If you like history of religion there is a lot of it. My favorite part of it is the amazing architecture.
Michael H — Google review
The most important temple of the Inca empire, partially destroyed to build the church. The museum goes over the history but also has paintings of the Cusco school (amongst others). On the balconies you get nice views of the city, or you can climb up the bell tower to get even better ones.
Bruno V — Google review
The site primarily features pre-Inca stonework and a church, presenting a compelling juxtaposition of historical periods. The experience extends beyond the interior, encompassing the exterior as well. We recommend visiting the top tower for panoramic views and the artifacts bell. The entrance fee is approximately ten Soles. Ascending to the summit via the narrow stairway offers a memorable experience.
SPICY — Google review
What a beautiful museum/heritage site. So much to learn! Please note: entry is not included in the boleto turístico (only the Museo del Sitio Q, which is not worth it). But for this site, it's 20 soles well spent. Allow for at least 90 minutes if you don't want to rush.
Eugenio C — Google review
An amazing place full of history and beauty! The Temple of the Sun in Cusco, also known as Qorikancha, is one of the most impressive sites I visited in Peru. The combination of ancient Inca architecture and Spanish colonial influence is truly fascinating. You can really feel the spirit of the Inca civilization in every stone. The museum inside offers interesting information about the culture and beliefs of the Incas. A beautiful and peaceful place that you shouldn’t miss when visiting Cusco!
Aymen C — Google review
Such a beautiful museum. So much Inca history and views were amazing. Im glad I paid 5 soles which is less than 2 us dollars to go upstairs to see the bells and views. Don't skip that part. It's worth your time!
Stephanie B — Google review
Qorikancha is one of the most historically significant sites in all of Peru. It was once the dazzling Inca Temple of the Sun, famously covered in gold. Today, you witness an incredible architectural fusion: the Spanish Santo Domingo Convent built directly on the top of the original, perfectly fitted Inca stone walls. The most amazing part is seeing how the Inca walls survived every major earthquake, while the Spanish structures did not. It is a powerful testament to Inca engineering genius and a must-see for understanding the depth of Cusco's history. Truly unforgettable.
Michal R — Google review
Lovely, Old Spanish European style, very beautiful!! If you like Guided tour you should order one but the place is not that big and I had more fun without

Cusco Cathedral

Mentioned on
13 lists
Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Cusco Cathedral, constructed in the 16th and 17th centuries, is a grand structure adorned with colonial paintings. The cathedral was built over many years by various architects and masters, using stones from the Sacsayhuaman complex. It houses impressive pieces of art including 256 silver items and a silver monstrance embellished with pearls, rubies, amethysts, sapphires, and topazes.
If you’re visiting this cathedral you might as well pay 2.5 euro extra to visit San Cristobal and the archbishop’s museum, the inca museum and some other places. The former has a bell tower with a nice view of Cusco and the latter has quite a few impressive pieces of art. No pictures allowed here.
Bruno V — Google review
Nice church but the unique thing to see here is the last supper painting depicting cuy (guinea pig) as the main course, a one of a kind treasure by Marcos Zapata..
Gary M — Google review
A catherdal built in the 16th century though it was restored after the 1671 earthquake. It has many paintings throughout. Crypts can be found inside. The have many places showing joesph holding baby Jesus instead of Mary. They also have the grandparents of Mary. A uneso recognized site as seen by the blue and white symbol outside.
Craig B — Google review
Lovely church. The sad part is they charge to enter, but you can not take any photos inside.
Roger G — Google review
Beautiful cathedral that you can visit in about half an hour without a guide. There is not much to read to learn about the place unfortunately. You got to notice the wigs they put to the statues!
Philippe — Google review
It was a good experience to see what the Spanish colonization did to the aboriginal people's places. The architecture is nice from the outside and inside as well. The highlight of the whole cathedral is the picture inside where Pizzaro is represented as the person who ruined the Inca culture. Thank you 🇵🇪
Ales T — Google review
Wonderful histories! Don't miss the Last Supper with guinea pig on the table and countless examples of syncretistic art... Especially in the original side chapel Madonnas and the "black" Jesus chapel and story of it's annual use and relation to the earthquakes in 1650 & 1950. I LOVED the actual car covered completely in silver still used in Corpus Christi parades.
Jim M — Google review
40 soles entrance fee for the cathedral ( most churches around the world are 100% free) and we are not allowed to take a picture. This whole town feels like one big tourist scam, no wonder most people recommend only 2 days in here.

Plaza San Blas

Mentioned on
12 lists
Park
Plaza San Blas is located in Cusco's artisan quarter and is home to a variety of workshops and galleries such as Galeria Arte Olave and Museo Taller Hilario Mendivil, offering an array of striking artifacts, sculptures, religious images, ceramics, and earthenware. The plaza features a small artificial waterfall and picturesque stairs leading to a charming spot for photos with the city and mountains in the background.
The square is pleasant, but it’s not in itself a “must-see,” but the neighborhood is! It feels more authentic, with nice stores and plenty of restaurants nearby that are worth visiting. If you have a couple of days in Cusco, definitely stop by and walk up the hill to the neighborhood overlooking the city.
Ole S — Google review
This plaza should be regarded as the 'entry' to the San Blas neighborhood, which I think is one of the best in Cusco. The immediate area boasts numerous art galleries and excellent restaurants. I wish I had discovered this area sooner, as there were many other places I wanted to try out nearby. This neighborhood is not to be missed during your time in Cusco.
Keith M — Google review
A Gem of History, Coffee, and Color Stepping into this area feels like walking through a beautifully preserved storybook. It's a place bursting with character, offering a truly diverse experience that appeals to history buffs, coffee lovers, and anyone who appreciates vibrant, picturesque streets. The city is full of varied historical sites and diverse circuits (or tours), ensuring there's always something new to discover, whether it's an ancient ruin, a bustling local market, or a hidden architectural marvel. The blend of past and present is seamless and captivating. But what truly sets it apart are the charming, colorful, and ancient alleyways. Wandering through these narrow streets is a delight. The buildings, painted in a beautiful spectrum of hues, provide endless opportunities for stunning photos and a sense of tranquility away from the main thoroughfares. And, of course, the coffee shops are exceptional. Dotted throughout the ancient lanes, you'll find cozy havens serving up fantastic brews. They are perfect spots to relax, soak in the atmosphere, and watch the world go by. In summary: If you are looking for a destination that offers a rich tapestry of history, a thriving coffee scene, and some of the most beautiful, colorful, and enchanting streets you'll ever see, this place is an absolute must-visit. I hope this captures the essence of what you were looking for! Do you want to try and translate this back into Farsi or would you like to add anything else to the review?
Shahram A — Google review
Lovely, colorful place! No traffic (finally!) and the narrow streets give South of France vibe. Plenty of street art and pretty little shops. A must if you enjoy this style 😊
Miky V — Google review
Nice garden place, there are artists that sell their arts in some days, if I’m not wrong in Saturday, there is a beautiful church near by and the waterfall is beautiful 🙏🏻
Guy S — Google review
This is a great little plaza to sit and people watch. We love when they have little markets and musicians/entertainers on. But it’s equally as lovely to sit and watch the world go by near the water feature.
Our F — Google review
There's a bunch of shops, restaurants, and massage places. If you're near Plaza de Armas, it's a bit of a hike with a steep hill, and it might be rough the first couple of days because of the altitude.
SPICY — Google review
Nice little area to walk around, I came here to find local art. All of the places are selling the exact same art for too much in my opinion. We found one store selling pieces for 25% less. But when I got back to Lima they sold the exact same art for half the price. Don’t be fooled that the “artists” are local. Maybe you will find one or two unique pieces. But trust me when I say every place has the same pieces. Even the people out on the street with their small portfolios are selling the exact same art.

Cusco Planetarium

Planetarium

Nestled near Sacsayhuaman, the Cusco Planetarium offers a unique experience in the hills of Cusco. Unlike traditional planetariums, this one delves into the astronomical knowledge of the ancient Incas. The facility is run by Ana, Roberto, and their uncle Professor Garces, an experienced astronomy expert. The planetarium is designed with deep respect for Incan beliefs and features a dome camouflaged as a traditional local structure.
We had a great time! The girls who work here really love what they do, and you can feel it. Their storytelling was fun and engaging — almost theatrical at times! They joked a lot, and our whole group was laughing throughout the experience . The only thing I’d mention is that some parts were a bit hard to follow in English — maybe because of the astronomical terms. But that’s just a small thing. Overall, it was a really fun and unique experience. Totally worth visiting! 🌌✨
Viki D — Google review
I found it a bit expensive, maybe it's just subjective, but I think it could be a bit cheaper. It's a very cool trip, they pick you up (and return you to) the city centre, you get a theoretical presentation about Inca geography, astronomy, and agriculture at first, followed by a virtual sky presentation in the dome, and finally, using real telescopes, you try (this is dependent on the weather) to find and observe some star constellation, and the planets of Mars and Jupiter. Cool and alternative trip compared to everything else offered around, and you learn a lot of interesting stuff!
Stefan P — Google review
Family run business, and great vibes all around. The staff were super excited to greet us and give a great performance and explanation about the constellations and Incan history. I definitely learned a lot and it gave me a greater appreciation for the stars up in the sky✨
Payton — Google review
Very insightful and funny presentation! I really enjoyed it. The views of the Moon, other planets, and Sirius were stunning! I was also impressed by the interior of the dome. We were even provided with blankets to keep warm. The staff (Family) was very kind and funny!
Claudia C — Google review
One of the best experiences I’ve had in Cusco. The team was engaging and made it fun, big Star Wars fans too! I highly recommend checking it out especially if you’re coming from the northern hemisphere. We saw Orion’s Belt, Big Dipper upside down like wow.
Tony O — Google review
We had a group of six people do a tour and it was amazing!! The company was very responsive when setting up the tour and communicated well. They arranged for transportation and it was a short drive from Cusco. When we arrived they gave us blankets and a short presentation. Then we went and saw a planetarium show in a tent. Finally we got to look through the telescopes at several stars and planets and the moon. It was such a great experience and we highly recommend it. The people that work there are very nice and knowledgeable. They are funny and you can tell they are really excited about astrology. We are all so glad we made this part of our trip.
Jessica W — Google review
A worthwhile experience of you are interested in how the Incans interpreted the sky. The people working were very passionate and excited to share their knowledge

A good size museum with a lot of interesting history and artefacts. If you spend time here, reading the plentiful information boards, you will learn a lot about the Incan mythology and religion, along with learning about the pre-Incan civilizations, that were around for much longer than the Incas.

Also, if you can, visit the museum slightly later in the afternoon so maybe you can capture the moon over the court yard. Beautiful house of history, too!

Visitors can immerse themselves in the city's culture by browsing through various shops and markets along the way. Hi there Plaza de Armas is the beating heart of Cusco — vibrant, historic, and full of life day and night. Surrounded by stunning colonial architecture and the majestic cathedral, it’s the perfect spot to feel the city’s rhythm. You can sit on a bench and people-watch for hours, enjoy a pisco sour on one of the balconies, or just take in the mountain air and lively energy. Musicians, locals, and travelers all mix together here, giving it that timeless Andean charm. Don't go for the day trips they sell here, not of those are just typical holiday scheme sales trips. Flowers trees and a fountain in the center. The day i went theyvhad free musical entertainment.

Saqsaywaman is an awe-inspiring archaeological site located just north of Cusco, Peru. This ancient Inca fortress is renowned for its impressive stone walls, constructed with remarkable precision and without the use of mortar. The site features a complex layout that includes residential areas, temples, roads, and aqueducts, showcasing the advanced engineering prowess of the Incas.
3rd time here and just as incredible each time. The stone work is insane. Neat to see they found tunnels and you can see them working to uncover them. Great views from here and so historic. Really need to check it out.
Michael H — Google review
A place you should visit if you visit Cusco. My guide told us this was a sacred place. Huge rocks were used for construction. It can sustain earthquakes. One of the biggest rock could be over 180 tons.
Yung-chin C — Google review
This site is an absolute must-see when visiting Cusco. The scale and precision of the stonework here are simply mind-blowing. Seeing the massive stones, fitted together without mortar, is a powerful testament to the advanced engineering skills of the Inca Empire. The zig-zag walls are architecturally unique and the history is palpable. The views of Cusco from this hill are also spectacular. Be prepared for the altitude, take your time, and enjoy this incredible piece of history!
Michal R — Google review
Saqsaywaman has truly captured my heart, surpassing my expectations even more than Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu. The site offers an unparalleled opportunity to study pre-Inca stonework up close, with masterful craftsmanship on full display. I was impressed by the ease of access and the relative lack of tourists, which allowed for a more intimate experience. The site's cleanliness and maintenance are also noteworthy, reflecting the dedication of the local authorities. For a unique perspective, I highly recommend taking a horseback ride around the perimeter, which revealed additional Inca structures and ruins that are often overlooked by visitors. This experience added a new layer of depth to my understanding and appreciation of the site's history and architecture
SPICY — Google review
Saqsaywaman is one of the most amazing archaeological sites I’ve ever visited — and easily one of the greatest mysteries of the ancient world. Standing before the massive stone walls (thought to represent the teeth of a puma), each block perfectly fitted together without mortar, it’s impossible not to wonder how the Inca or whoever built it moved and shaped stones weighing up to 100 tons with such precision. The stones lock together like a puzzle, surviving centuries of earthquakes that have toppled many other structures in Cusco.
Alex B — Google review
Be prepared! It is high up and you should take regular breaks. Otherwise it's a beautiful place to visit. You will get approached on the way by people offering tours and an inclusive ticket but honestly the math didn't quite make sense. Go to the official entrance in the wood booth. Lots of different routes, good place to take photos and nice views over the city. Be sure to visit the village after that is up the hill to the right for food, gifts and ice cream.
Alex C — Google review
Impressive historical site! We didn’t go inside Sacsayhuamán, but we walked around the outside area, and it was still amazing. The massive Inca stone walls are incredible to see up close — you can really feel the history and power of this ancient place. The view over Cusco from the site is also beautiful, and the atmosphere is calm and full of meaning. Even just exploring the exterior is worth it if you love history and culture !
Aymen C — Google review
Unreal place to visit, we were left jaw to the floor for most of the day. If you are into ancient history, here is a must visit. We spent around 5 and half hours here and could have quite possibly spent longer looking at big rocks!

I'm giving it 3 stars solely because they charged me a "cover" charge per head. That just felt dirty when I got the bill and saw this extra charge. I would have happily paid more for our meals and drinks, rather than see this type of surcharge on my bill. It just felt cheap, dirty, and as if I was being taken advantage of at it came after the meal with the check with no mention of it prior to seating.

I really wanted to like Cicciolina but it fell short for me. Alpaca starter was only 4 slices of Alpaca. Squid ink was okay nothing spectacular. Ossobucco sauce was way too sweet and the walnuts in the dumplings were rancid. Service was excellent, ambience was cozy and the lemongrass ginger drink was good but the sweetness could be toned down a bit.

Food, service, and atmosphere were great here! Worth stopping by while you are in Cusco. My first time trying the guinea pig gyoza. I think it tastes like a rabbit. It was not bad.

This is the best restaurant we had in Peru. We totally te moment the Alpaca meat and the new dessert. The service is simply perfect. The music and the atmosphere fits the quality of the food.

Easily the best meal I’ve had in Cuzco! The scallops and quail egg tapas were incredible and so was the seafood risotto. I’ve thought about it every night since and may have to return!

May be my new favourite restaurante in Cuzco! Food is very good, service was ok. A little dark and noisy, but the place is smallish and it’s clear they put food quality high on their priorities. I highly recommend it!

Stunning! This place is second to none! Honestly my main dish felt like it was made in heaven and. It has ruined me for all future meals, hahaha. The atmosphere is very special, if you are in Cusco this is a must!

Pachapapa is a charming restaurant located in Cusco, celebrated for its rustic atmosphere and traditional Andean decor. The courtyard offers a delightful dining experience with parasols and greenery during the day, while evenings are enlivened by candlelight and local musicians. The menu features meat-oriented dishes such as cuy chactado, kankacho, and pizzas topped with local ingredients like smoked trout.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Pachapapa! The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. What made the evening even more special was our waiter, David. He was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome, offering great recommendations that we loved. His service was exceptional and really enhanced our dining experience. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Pachapapa, especially with David as your waiter!

Fun dining experience. Called in advance to reserve the Guinea pig. The meat tasted special but it did need some efforts to have the very first bite. It came with potato, salads and corns as sides. Salad was also good, refreshing and dressing was special. Bread/buns were made home, fresh and a bit sweet. Overall a nice place in Cusco.

We went to Pachapapa four times during our six-day stay in Cusco, and every visit was amazing. Each time we ordered different dishes, and we loved every one of them. The service was excellent every time too. Panchita was wonderful, and the rest of the team was just as kind and attentive, even though I don’t remember everyone’s names. The outdoor area has such a unique and cozy vibe, and the other rooms are charming with details like a wood-fired stove. We tried several other restaurants in Cusco, but none had the same authentic feel or flavor. The alpaca meat was delicious, and we also loved the beef ribs, empanadas, ceviche, and quinoa soup. Definitely come here hungry — everything is worth trying!

This was a recommendation from our concierge at JW Marriott. We are glad that we tried cuy here. You have to wait 1hr after you order cuy because they need time to roast it in the oven. Beto, our waiter was nice and helpful explaining where they source their cuy. They get their guinea pigs from sacred valley. All the appetizers were freshly made. I especially enjoyed the corn dish. The restaurant is nestled in Plaza San Blas which is peaceful without many tourists. The house baked bread they serve before the meal is comforting: they have perfect texture and density. I personally thought having an outdoor oven for the bread added more local touch to the atmosphere.

Visited twice during our stay here in Cusco. Each time was pleasant and friendly. The food was great, we had the trout, the seco, the konkachu, and the ossobucco all from their courtyardside stone oven. They great you with some complimentary bread and accompanying salsa. Eat within the courtyard if you can and try their selections of wine or pisco. Gareth, was great, very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu!

This set the bar very high for Peru. After eating Peruvian cuisine in many Latin American countries, my first mainland experience far exceeded them. The food was fantastic, with fresh ingredients and very intentional flavors, including with the house cocktails. The location had a great, natural atmosphere too. But what stood out even more was the service from Gareth. He was amiable, informative about the food, and a joy overall. We look forward to our second visit this trip!

Cutest local authentic Peruvian spot with amazing pisco cocktails, one of the best homely ceviches I’ve ever had in my life, it melts in your mouth and has both fresh and dry corn to add to texture of the dish, with beautiful live harpest serenading us during our meal, with amazing service from Gareth!!

Restaurant
Limo is a restaurant that offers a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, blending fresh ingredients with traditional cooking techniques. Located in an old colonial residence overlooking the Plaza de Armas of Cusco, it provides a stylish terrace dining experience.
First night in Cusco and first bite to eat and we sat at the bar. I didn’t know what to expect but I was wowed and amazed. I ordered the Ice tea Limo made by Piero and it was exquisite the blend of the tea with the berries was perfect. Ronald our waiter was attentive and caring as well as quick. The sushi was so fresh and the sauce was delicious. Julio the chef also made us a dish that blew my mind. Everything here was absolutely delicious and I would definitely come again. The people here want you to try their delicious food and they do not disappoint. If you are ever in Cusco this is a must on the list.

This is a nice space. I went here on a recommendation, and I had high expectations. They were mostly met, but I live in Asia and have had ‘real’ Japanese food for 30 years. This was an interpretation of the food, and I thought some of their flavor combinations missed the mark a little. Still, it is a high-quality place and worth a visit.

I heard that Peru had some Peruvian Japanese fusion restaurants and decided to give one of these places a try and it was pretty good! They were able to accommodate my vegetarian wife by making a custom sushi roll. The server, Jhan was super nice and spoke English well. Overall it was a good experience!

One of the top 10 meals of my life! Was incredibly delicious, a gorgeous view over the main Square and the service by Jorge was friendly and impeccable. Cannot recommend this restaurant more than I am. Adding to this review because we returned two days later to have another meal at Limo. This time we were served by Juan and again impeccable service. We tried a few new dishes and everything was superb. I don’t think it’s possible to go wrong at this restaurant. Highly recommend it.

Went here for lunch on my first day in cusco. It’s conveniently located right on plaza de armas with large windows looking out on the plaza. I had the passion fruit salmon ceviche which was one of the best things I’ve ever had. I also got a maki roll which was good, but a little sweeter than it needed to be. I’d definitely return for the ceviche

Great breakfast spot. Good portions and delicious. Went several times because my significant other really liked the food. Good variety that suited both of us. Must try the mocha (add a shot of Kahlúa to spice it up). The Alpaca sandwich was phenomenal!

Great service. Stopped in late morning locking just to grab a coffee and something small. Wife had the oatmeal which was packed with fruits. I had the Ham and cheese sandwich which was enough for two people with basically 1 1/2 sandwiches. Everything tasted great, no complaints.

I went to Jacks twice while in Cusco, both times for breakfast/brunch and both times were spectacular! I had a smoothie and basic egg/toast breakfast the first visit, and Helios rancheros and a latte the second visit. Staff are very friendly and service is prompt, even if you are a group (5) and walk in. The interior is very cute and clean, and there are a lot of shops just up the hill.

Great restaurant to have brunch all day. I ordered a pumpkin soup and a granola yogurt. Ingredients were fresh and of high quality. Both were very tasty. Would definetly recommend.

This café fully deserves its reputation. It is cozy, well designed, and managed professionally. I tried the alpaca burger for the first time and loved it. The fries and sauces were delicious, and the fresh lemonade was the perfect drink to go with the meal. The staff were friendly and service was quick and well organized. Prices are fair for the quality you receive. I would gladly return and recommend the alpaca burger to anyone visiting Cusco.

Oh my goodness the reviews don’t lie this place is amazing, we are stuffed and it all tasted incredible. We would highly recommend I am vegan GF and there were plenty of options. I’m so glad we found you x

I had the smoked trout sandwich and it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. The bread is light and made in-house. The flavor of the trout was fantastic, and it was perfectly balanced with a layer of house-made garlic spiced cream cheese, a drizzle of balsamic, generous portions of avocado, and some capers. I could eat that regularly! The coffee was quite good as well. The layout is so cute and bright, but the WiFi cut out and did not come back on, so possibly not an ideal location for working.
AM — Google review
Interior of the restaurant is grand and bright. Came here for breakfast and the food was meh. I had the alpaca filet combo which was tough and dry. The fried rings were hard and salty. I did like the cappuccino with chocolate powder on top. I was unable to finish the entire meal and the price for breakfast is much higher than other spots around.

This is a must visit as they got the most tasty ceviche everrr! The staffs are kind and well-trained, capable of explaining and offering recommendations. We ordered two main dishes: one beef cheek and another duck rice, both are great! I personally think it’s a bit heavy though, and the beef cheek would be better if less salty. But overall, very nice ambiance and just that ceviche alone is well worth the visit. In our case, we had a detailed tour around the museum part then we had lunch here. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience at this famous restaurant. Very diverse menu with unique dishes. Cocktails were superb and the food was fantastic, with big portions. Excellent service, our waiter Pablo made sure we had the best of times. Very busy but vibrant ambience. Strongly recommended, a must go. Very reasonably priced too.

From one of the forefathers of Lima gastronomy, only in Cusco! It was pretty solid overall. They really love to try to push wine here, but I suggest you go for a cocktail. Just look at how incredible mine looked! Easily best part of my meal. In fact, I’d recommend going here mainly for the drinks. Not so much for the food. It was just ok and for the price you can get much better bang for your buck elsewhere. I also thought Gaston y Astrid (in Lima) was far better.

During our 6 nights in Cusco we tried 6 different restaurants. Chicha is clearly the best of them for the quality of the food, nice ambiance and outstanding service. They are able to make the traditional Peruvian dishes delicious with great seasonings and cooking to perfection. The only thing I suggest they do better is to add their wines in the drinks menu. They have many bottles of wine in their cellar but do not list them. They should.
Kiu S — Google review
We stopped here for lunch as we wanted some chicken soup. The Abuello (grandma’s) chicken soup was delicious! We also had the traditional chichamora (purple) Peruvian non alcohol drink. Yummy!!! In reviewing the menu, it looked so good we decided to come back for dinner. We were not disappointed!!! We shared the empanadas, a trout fish and the tortellini dish. OMG! Some of THE BEST food we have all had in a restaurant (and we come from San Francisco and Columbus, Ohio). This place deserves a 5.0 in our book! We will be back (for a 3rd and, mauve, a 4th time ). 😝

If you’re looking for a place to try la comida cusceña I highly recommend. The service by Milcom was really lovely. He recommended me some beautiful dishes and warned they come quite big. It’s a bit difficult if you by your own and want to try many things. I’ve tried trout ceviche, great. Then chupe sagrado, lovely combination from the area but not completely my personal flavors. But the star for me was ravioli with lamb and pumpkin. Incredible!!

I went for my birthday and had a fantastic experience. They basically serve traditional Andean Peruvian food, but elevated to its best possible state. They're not trying to reinvent the wheel, but they are perfecting it. I ordered the panceta, and it was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy, and the crust was perfectly crisp and crunchy. For dessert, I ordered the churros, and they were fantastic too. To drink I had the chicha morada and it was delicious. For my complementary birthday dessert, they brought out some profiteroles with ice cream. SO good! The place was beautiful and the atmosphere was lively but not loud. The service was impeccable. The staff were all very helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Walked in with a crew of twelve, walked out with stories and sauce-streaked plates. Chicha isn’t your dusty backpacker haunt or a quick bite before the Sacred Valley. This is where Peruvian pride dresses up and throws a damn good party. The steak? Swimming in a peppercorn sauce that demanded bread just to mop it up. The rotisserie chicken was the sleeper hit—juicy, fiery with that ají-forward marinade, riding shotgun with a vibrant cucumber salad and fluffy rice. Drinks? Oh yes. Pisco sours that hit with citrus and foam like a warm slap. A Chilcano that kept things crisp. A bottle (or three) of Intipalka Malbec from Ica sealed the deal—proof that Peru’s wine game isn’t just playing in the minor leagues anymore. Yes, it’s upscale. Yes, it’s pricey. But the service is smooth, and the food has real soul. A rare combo. Would return in a heartbeat. 📍 Location: Central Cusco 🍽 Dishes tried: Steak, rotisserie chicken, salads 🍷 Drinks: Pisco sour, chilcano, Ica Malbec 💰 Pricey but worth it

Clean. Nice service. A bit slow for the amount of customers. English speaking and English menu. Kind of boutiquey. All utensils are metal. Ceramic plates and glass cups. Cool recycled bottle chandeliers above the bar. Great Juices. Recommend the Pepper Corn juice. The French toast is very good. It has a special syrup. Good price, 4 people with entries and drinks was just $40

Easily one of the best meals in Peru (and I didn't even have a main course). I love this place. The service was just right. The server I had knew the menu well and had great suggestions. I really like the relax ambience and the music matches the mood of the place, something a lot of restaurants miss. The food is very good. I had the mango ceviche and fried Peruvian cheese. Both very good. I also had a chilcano, also very good. This is my last meal in Cusco and I wish I had another day in this city so I can have lunch in this place.

Food was good, but a little expensive for the size. And I’ve had better ceviches in Cusco. I’d recommend if you’re not so hungry, because the dishes are small. Also, the staff wasn’t helpful, the girl seemed stressed and didn’t care to ask if we understood Spanish.

Peruvian Food Fatigue: A Love Story" I think I've reached peak Peru – my taste buds are numb, and my enthusiasm for even the most iconic dishes has waned. After days of ceviche, lomo saltado, and papas rellenas, everything starts to blend together. It's like my palate is saying, "Déjà vu, we've been here before... and before... and before." If we were here on day one, I'd be singing a different tune – "This is the best food ever! The flavors, the spices, the textures!" But after a culinary marathon, my senses are crying out for something new. Sorry, Inca grill, I know I'm supposed to be in love with your food, but I think I've reached food coma level 10. Maybe a break from all the ají amarillo and potatoes is in order? Can I just have a plain salad or something?

Tourist trap: expensive and completely disappointing. The service is glacial, the bill is huge and the food is largely inedible. We have started with a salad and soup which were decent, but were extremely disappointed with the pepper steak, which was almost rare (not medium). When returned to the kitchen, they didn't cook it at all and simply slapped some more source onto it. We chose this place as we were hungry, didn't want to walk far and they had gluten free options clearly marked, but really regretted the experience.

Dining at Morena in Cusco was an absolute highlight of my trip! From the moment I walked in, the team made me feel genuinely welcomed with warm smiles and attentive service that never felt rushed or forced. Every member of the staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, informed about the menu, and always had what we needed. Their knowledge of the dishes and recommendations made the experience even more special. The food itself was outstanding—vibrant, fresh, and beautifully presented. Each dish felt like a modern twist on Peruvian tradition, full of bold flavors that showcased the best of local ingredients. The portions were generous without losing refinement, and every bite was layered with taste and texture. Whether it was the ceviche, the perfectly grilled meats, or the creative cocktails, everything exceeded expectations. High quality meal with generous servings at an affordable price! We liked everything we ordered - the seafood rice was definitely the standout. Ossobuco was also perfectly cooked with the meat falling off the bone and incredibly tender, but would note that this dish is a little heavy and salty. Great ambiance - loved all the lighting fixtures and greenery inside, and service was lovely. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Cusco. Reservations are a must.

I loved absolutely everything about Morena Peruvian kitchen. I took a chance by walking in without a reservation and got a spot at the bar pretty quickly. The server was so nice and helped me pick out my meal. The drink special of the day was a fruiting pisco drink with passion fruit. The bartender demonstrated how to make the entire drink using super fresh ingredients. The scallop explosion were little delicious mouth fireworks of flavor. The alpaca risotto was cooked perfectly and was super tasty. The risotto was tiny cubed potato’s which surprised me, especially bc I was expecting rice. It was good, but I’m not a potato persons, so I would have preferred rice risotto. It start to pour outside which I could see from the windows overlooking plaza de armas. So, I got the chocolate desert which comes in a cocoa pod. It was very yummy, not overly sweet, and paired great with an espresso. The team allowed me to wait out the rain and let me fully enjoy my delicious meal. One of my main highlights from this trip. The bathroom was super clean and has plenty of tissue paper and great soap

Morena came highly recommended on the forums I looked at prior to booking our vacation. The location is fabulous as it faces the city center. The staff was friendly enough however, when I booked our reservation, I specifically stated we were celebrating our honeymoon. We were originally seated at a table away from the windows and view, but within a few minutes a window table opened up. When my husband asked for us to be moved to a window table our waiter didn’t even ask the hostess, my husband then went downstairs to speak to the hostess that gave him a hard time, but eventually moved us. When we changed tables, we also changed waiters the second waiter was lovely. The octopus was delicious and the beef tartar was good. I got the gnocchi which was OK. My husband got the seafood pasta. Both the Pisco sour and the Pisco punch were very good. We didn’t have dessert. The view was fantastic, but there are also a few other fine dining restaurants that I’m sure have the same view and maybe better service

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Morena Peruvian Kitchen – Cusco (Plaza de Armas) We stopped in for lunch at Morena Peruvian Kitchen, right on the Plaza de Armas, and it was absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is bright and modern with a perfect view of the square — a great spot to relax and enjoy the energy of Cusco. I had the alpaca steak, which was cooked perfectly — tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. It’s definitely on the pricier side for Peru, but it’s worth every sol for the quality, presentation, and service. For dessert, we tried the affogato, a creative twist made with mini churros, ice cream, and a shot of espresso you pour over the top. It was the perfect finish to an incredible meal. Service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and fast without being rushed. All around, a great place for lunch and a must-try for anyone visiting Cusco’s Plaza de Armas.

I stopped by Morena on my last night in Cusco for a solo date and didn’t have a reservation, so I grabbed a seat at the bar for a drink. The waiter made me a special cocktail right in front of me, and after that, they were kind enough to move me to a table , such a thoughtful touch. I ordered an appetizer that was like a Peruvian twist on egg rolls … crispy, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Between the warm decor, kind service, and how everything was presented, it felt like the perfect little send-off dinner. I’m just a foodie who enjoys discovering cozy spots like this and sharing them with my internet friends … come hang out with me on TikTok @foxy.appetite and IG @foxyappetite.

Vegan restaurant
Green Point Vegan Restaurant in Peru offers a unique experience for both vegans and non-vegans. The restaurant is known for its passion for vegan cooking, offering cooking classes to spread knowledge and enable students to implement what they have learned in their daily lives. It's a popular spot among travelers, serving creative and rich dishes that impress diners with the variety of ingredients used.
Wow, what a cool place, and the inside is gorgeous! The menu is super detailed and tells a story. We got six dishes to share, and the flavors were awesome and unique. The presentation was on point. They used the same veggies in different marinades for some dishes, which was pretty cool. The kimchi dish and veggie sushi were our faves. The veggie tacos, roasted mushrooms, ceviche, and sweet potatoes were all really good too. The service was great, and we had a blast! Plus, the music was excellent.

Our favorite restaurant in Cusco — and maybe anywhere! We absolutely loved Green Point Vegan. I had the pizza and my husband had the mushroom tacos, and both dishes were incredible — packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and perfectly prepared. Every bite felt fresh and thoughtfully crafted. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, and the staff made us feel so welcome. We’ve eaten at many great places during our travels, but this meal truly stands out as one of the best we’ve ever had. A must-visit in Cusco!

These guys.... you can call it the best vegan restaurant of Cusco; but even that doesn't do it justice. It's one of the best restaurants in town, always in a continuous quest of innovation and experimentation to find the highest quality and healthiest ingredients to create the most amazing dishes with. All organic, from regenerative agricultural projects; perfect to nourish body and soul. I have been going here ever since their beginnings and it's just incredible how every time I come back to Cusco, they have improved their menu and dishes, and their whole infrastructure. Truly one of Cusco's best restaurants and one of the very few with an open air atmosphere. We will continue coming back to enjoy the best food and all the innovations!!

This is insane. This is crazy. As I dived into my gigantic grilled oyster mushroom after finishing the ceviche sushi, I thought to myself. “How do they survive? Giving this huge portion?” Looking at the whole plate of oyster mushroom, there underneath them hides two halves of Peruvian purple yellow potato, looking like a big heirloom tomato! I took a first bite into the perfectly grilled potato, my face changed and eyes closed to enjoy the produce. Crazy. The environment, the clever menu that’s filled with warmth and love for the local food, the way they treat food. Mashallah! Now I remember that earlier, the lady next to me ordered the lentil falafel curry and warned me the portion was big so don’t order it unless you’re really hungry. Now that’s coming together. This the 3rd farm-to-table restaurant in Cuzco I’ve visited in two days and I can only say this is beyond expectation. Don’t be like me, ordering two dishes alone. But come back again and again, like I will do for sure.

This is the best little vegan place in Cusco. We love everything about it. The service is outstanding—every server was super attentive, kind, welcoming and polite. The drinks were delicious. The food was tasty especially the pizza! The decor and atmosphere are a stand-out. There are beautiful plants and flowers everywhere. The mural art work is excellent. We love love love it here!!

Where to start! The menu is incredibly well thought out and varied. The food is exceptionally delicious, the chefs clearly have a deep understanding of what flavours complement each other. The front of house staff were so welcoming and knew the menu very well helping us decide what to have. Camilo served us and since this was our first day in Peru it was especially nice to see such a helpful friendly face. And this is all before I even mention the beautifully calming decor! We will be back!

Beautiful ambiance, creative plating, and food full of flavor. I loved how unique everything felt, from the artistic drinks to the main dishes. They even make their own craft beers, whisky, and vodka — definitely worth trying! Special thanks to Camilo for the excellent service and to Kevin, the manager, for his warm and welcome presence and even giving me a tour of the distillery/brewery. Dining here solo was a wonderful and memorable experience. An absolute, "don't leave without trying this place in Cusco."

Love the coffee with soy milk. I got one cappuccino and another latte. Bryan provided fantastic service, he was so friendly and checked on us perfectly. I loved the food and his great smile! I will definitely be coming back.

Airport
Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, also known as Cusco Airport, is the main gateway to the city of Cusco in Peru. It is the second most important airport in Peru after Lima Airport and serves millions of national and international passengers annually. Travelers from around the world arrive at this airport to begin their journeys in Cusco, which can be easily accessed by plane, train, or car.
Smallish airport which makes it easy to get in and out. Bag claim was efficient as I had my bag within 5 minutes of arrival and out of the airport to catch my Uber. The place was clean and stuff friendly

I arrived at Cusco International Airport from Cancun during my South America trip, and I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the experience was. The airport is compact but efficient, with clear signage and helpful staff. Baggage claim was quick, and I appreciated how easy it was to get transportation into the city. The views upon landing were absolutely stunning—flying into Cusco is truly a unique experience surrounded by the Andes. While the facilities are a bit basic and the airport can get crowded, everything was clean and well-managed. A great first impression of Peru!

For a small airport it’s exceptionally well run! We arrived and departed with Latam. The airport has a little chapel and also a small but well attended Lounge, with good and freshly prepared food options, fruits, drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. It is attended and well maintained, with clean seating areas, food service areas and restrooms are large. We enjoyed our time on very comfortable seating. It is accessible by a wide ramp to accommodate special needs. Thank you, Cusco!

So the airport is fine and the process to check in and get though security was fine. But I have to ding them cause the bathrooms are terrible. Like bad bad. I’m traveling with kids and my daughter did not have a clean place to use the bathroom. There is food and other stores in the terminal which is nice

Small but efficient, just minutes from Cusco. It’s clean and easy to navigate, but gets crowded with limited food and seating. Expect occasional delays due to altitude. Use official taxis and arrive early.
Marwan — Google review
The service is very limited, and the immigration line was long and slow. The taxis are not very well regulated. But for Machu Picchu, this is the only choice!
Qihua M — Google review
Nice airport. Easy to move through. Nice staff lots of seating. Shout out to LATAM
Tony D — Google review
Landing in Cusco is an absolute thrill for any aviation lover, with the plane banking steeply right over the mountains and then the city, as the airport is practically in the middle of the city, surrounded by houses and buildings on all sides. Once you land you can quickly collect your bags and be on your way in no time (except for the constant traffic jam to get out of the parking lot, for taxies, as well). For departures, the check-in and security are quick thanks to very efficient staff, but the main problem is that when the airport is busy there are not enough chairs for everybody in the departure lounge and you might have to wander around and look at the few shops for much longer than you'd want to. There is a small lounge on the lower floor, but that's about it and you have to pay to get in (unless you have free access to airport lounges). They are building a much larger airport up on the mountains that will accomodate direct international flights, but that's probably still years away from completion.
