Bodegón Fueguino

$$$$affordable
Argentinian restaurant
Bodegón Fueguino is a charming restaurant located in the Fueguino neighborhood on the outskirts of Ushuaia. The pioneer house, with its mustard-yellow facade, exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere. The ebullient owner, Sergio Otero, adds to the lively ambiance as he bustles around making suggestions and revving up his staff. The menu features specialties such as picadas, lamb dishes, and seafood offerings at moderate prices.
Cannot recommend this place enough. Food was DELICIOUS, one of the best meals I've had in south america and it was so reasonably priced compared to everything else in Ushuaia/patagonia in general. It gets very busy but staff were still super friendly despite working very hard!
Sarah B — Google review
Very popular place during dinner time with what looks like a line often. The food was good, got the lamb and it was tender for most of it and quite good with good portions of food. Left feeling quite full afterwards. Would recommend lunch where it can be busy but no real wait time.
Steven L — Google review
Loved this place so much that we visited it twice in a day! and probably will come back twice the next few days. We ordered their cordero, in different plates, and it was delicious in the different ways. The service is great and prices are very reasonable, but If you asked me, their pricing it’s a steal! Tip: come late for lunch or dinner (13:00 to 14:00) or after 21:30 til 23:00 and the lines will be shorter, if any. At least during their winter.
Remy C — Google review
During my stay in Ushuaia, I have visited this particular restaurant three times and I have really enjoyed the food and service! The Lentil Stew and the Lamb in Orange/ Honey sauce is amazing! The staff are super friendly and attentive too. However, I was fortunate to walk in midday and in the evening waiting times can range from 40-50 minutes but worth the wait! Highly recommend and my thanks to the staff and chefs of this wonderful restaurant! 😊
Garhing C — Google review
We are the lentil stew and the lamb chops with the honey and orange sauce, both were very good
Saar R — Google review
Very nice culinary experience . They don’t do reservations and you must be a bit ahead of opening hour as it can be a line before opening . Service was very good , fast and food delicious
Pop A — Google review
In the evenings this place has a super long line to get in. For lunch on a Sunday I only had to wait an hour. Now I know why- amazing food and ambiance, decent prices and great service.
Adam R — Google review
Everything was perfect, just one thing, you have to be ready to wait outdoor a long time before to have a table. We was wainting for more than one hours and we was there at the opening It’s a constant little hubbub inside but that’s also what makes the place lively. It didn't bother us, it's not super strong either, but if you hate that, this might not be the best restaurant for you. Also, the lamb and the wine was super nice !

La Cantina Fueguina De Freddy

$$$$expensive
Seafood restaurant
La Cantina Fueguina De Freddy is a delightful seafood and Argentine cuisine restaurant nestled in the heart of Ushuaia, Argentina. Renowned for its exceptional service, particularly from the friendly waiter Jorge, this eatery offers an array of standout dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Guests rave about the hot king crab, the unique 'paella del fin del mundo,' and delectable options like grilled trout stuffed with cheese and bacon or gratin scallops.
Okay, despite other reviews…this place is phenomenal. I had no issues and the crab was off the chart. The food was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and hospitality. They responded to everything I had requested and with friendly response. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ushuaia!!!
Urmil P — Google review
The pumpkin soup was just right for my taste. The king crab was well seasoned and meaty. The seafood paella was not satisfying. I would not recommend it. The staff was really friendly and diligent. It is located in the center of Ushuaia town, so it is easy to find.
Hyekyung K — Google review
Very good food, king crab is super delicious and hyper expensive. If you dine late or with a more than 4 people, better to reserve a table in advance.
Ashod M — Google review
I made reservation for over a month and half requesting fresh king crabs. When I arrive I was told there are no crabs even they had 4 in the tank. I was told those are for other reservations. They apparently leave the crabs as bait or display to attract customers. We paid over 91000 pesos for lunch for two. Two king crab soup with very few crab pieces. One ravioli seafood. Mixed seafood king crab. One beer and one water bottle. We were forced to add tip to the bill. Approximately 91us$ for a poorly served lunch. It is a big tourist trap.
Doug P — Google review
This was a recommended choice from a local. I really enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. I had a trout that was tasty with rice. It was a great choice. My friend had a tagliatelle with seafood, that was amazing. The server was so nice and helpful. Always smiling. I would like to come back again.
Charline H — Google review
For me the Merluza, sea bass, was the best piece of fish I have ever had. My husband had the trout and both were cooked absolutely perfectly, were light and flaky and melted in your mouth. Everything including the butter for the bread and the sides were amazing. We’re glad we listened to the waiter to try the chocolate covered Calafate ice cream. On our one month trip, this is one of the top meals we had. Perfect.
Niloofar H — Google review
Not a long wait for delicious crabs! Size was massive and freshness and how they were prepared was reasonable for the price. Comfortable restaurant with a casual setting.
D. L — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit at this seafood restaurant. We would definitely recommend to go for the signature dish, the king crab (centolla). We tried a large one for two. As side dishes we had yellow rice and French fries. For sure it’s a little bit of work to get the tasty white meat out if the shell. But with a big scissor, fork and knife it was doable quite easily. The centolla for two costs us around 80 euro. 🦀

Tante Sara - Café & Bar

Mentioned on
1 list
$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Tante Sara - Café & Bar is a long-standing establishment in Ushuaia, known for its classic signature dishes that combine the best pasta with fresh seafood from the Beagle Channel. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and serves dishes throughout the day, from breakfast to dinner. Their menu features standout items like crab raviolins, black sea fruit spaghetti, and a bacon-wrapped trout dish. Tante Sara is also renowned for its pastry and confectionery offerings.
Tante Sara is a fantastic spot for a delicious meal in Ushuaia! I ordered a Croque Madame, fries with bacon, and a coffee, and everything was absolutely delicious. The sandwich was perfectly balanced, the fries were crispy and flavorful, and the coffee was just what I needed for a relaxing break. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is fast and friendly, and the central location makes it a great choice. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality and experience are absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!
Fotograful C — Google review
We sat at the bar and ordered a croissant, fries to share, a margarita and a caiparinha. The bartender took 10 minutes to make the 2 drinks. He’d start, then start chatting or do something else then come back and continue. In the end, he made my caiparinha with lemons instead of lime and it was shaken. I’m so confused. It doesn’t even taste right. The croissant was stale - I suspect it has been sitting there all day or days. The fries arrived 20 minutes after we ordered it. It is 6pm on a Thursday and the bar is empty. I would not recommend this bar at all.
Mark H — Google review
First meal very good and well presented chicken quesadillas. The woman at the next table had French toast it too was presented well and looked yummy. So I came back the next day for breakfast. Yep it was as good as it looked.
Noodengr3 T — Google review
Very good service. I liked their Napolitan schnitzel. We shared this dish. I had Mate cocido the herb infusion typical of Argentina. Vety good alfajores.
Roberto M — Google review
Great service, good atmosphere, food tastes good but somewhat plain. I ordered their speciality Tante Sara schnitzel and this was one of the largest single servings I ever eat. My partner ordered continental breakfast and was disappointed with taste and size of the portion.
Andrii K — Google review
We had breakfast here 3 times. Each meal we had was amazing. The take away bakery items were great to fill us through the day as well. Great coffee, space and service.
Elle H — Google review
Looking for brunch or a quick bite with some coffee? This would be a good place to go. This coffee shop's location is great. It's located on the main tourist street and easily accessible. There isn't anything special about this place, but I'd say the price is reasonable and the food wouldn't disppoint you. I'd recommend this place as a brunch or a place to grab a quick bite before starting your tour day! Tips: Downstairs may get pretty busy. If you enjoy a quiet tea time, I'd consider finding a table in the second floor.
Jong W — Google review
Stopped by for a quick lunch and it was nice. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling too well so I actually didn't eat much of my food, but I ordered a lemonade and the burrito, both of which were solid. The lemonade is insanely pulpy, like it has more pulp than anything I've ever had in my life, but I liked it. Just a warning for those who aren't a fan of pulp. The burrito was good, but again I didn't eat much of it. The bread basket was also good.

El Viejo Marino

$$$$expensive
Argentinian restaurant
El Viejo Marino is a popular seafood restaurant in Ushuaia known for its delicious king crab dishes. It's recommended to arrive early as there is often a line forming before the doors open at 7pm. Despite being slightly cheaper than other crab restaurants in town, it offers fresh and tasty options that are well worth the wait. The star dish at El Viejo Marino is the spider crab, and many locals flock to this spot due to its great prices and quality seafood.
This place was recommended by many locals we spoke with. We were also warned to get there early because the Chinese tourists love this place and fill it up completely at open doors time. We had to stand in line and wait about :45 minutes outside. The weather was perfect and the people in line were mostly tourists from the cruise ships. We grabbed some beers and enjoyed conversation until a spot opened. It’s all business inside. We were there for the crab experience. It was huge! Plenty of crab for two people. I only wish I asked for some melted butter, they don’t serve it that way. It was great without the butter though! It’s an excellent experience and I recommend you show up early! Come out and support these local restaurants!
Mark J — Google review
After reading the reviews, we gathered that it will be better for us to have lunch instead of early dinner here because of its popularity! We wanted to eat the whole king crab here and thus we came to queue at 10.45am before it opened for lunch. Was lucky to be the first customer of the day and we even saw them carrying the fresh crabs into the shop! The king crabs quickly sold out while we’re slowly enjoying our freshly steamed king crab. They’re really sweet and fresh and would highly recommend El Viejo! 🦀
CN O — Google review
Fantastic local waterfront spot where fresh seafood is the star of the show. We particularly enjoyed the centolla (large fresh crabs available to crack open yourself; we chose the meat-only option) and black hake. The stir-fried seafood appetizer and centolla stew were also winners. We went 2 consecutive days for dinner and were lucky to have no wait for a table. Service is no-nonsense but friendly, attentive and efficient (they remembered us from the day before and welcomed us back). No frills place but great value for the price with generous portions. The natural taste of the seafood shines through. Highly recommended.
Kathy P — Google review
Really delicious king crab fresh from the sea in front of Ushuaia. This is definitely an expensive restaurant (not unlike most of Ushuaia) but well worth it if you can swing it. 160k pesos for one large crab - serves to. In March 2025. The place gets extremely busy at night so I would recommend going for lunch. Bottles of wine very inexpensive at around 8k pesos for torrentes. The vibe and service are modest and unexciting but you’re going for the food.
Alex L — Google review
The food here was good although the pink sauce that comes with a lot of the dishes is goopy and not particularly attractive. Service is friendly but a little indifferent. Atmosphere a little run down. The merluza negra, however, was delicious.
Hugh B — Google review
Guys, this was a great find 🥳. The menu is posted on the window, so you can see the options. This is one of the restaurants directly across from the harbor ⚓️, so the seafood can't be much fresher 🌊. I treated myself to a $40 (40,000 pesos) bowl of soup 🍲 and I don't regret it a bit. My tour guide had recommended several places, and she had mentioned that this place served the local crab centolla 🦀 in a tomato sauce. I thought that might be strange, but this was sooo good. The tomato base did not cover the fresh taste of the crab and shrimp at all. Delicious! They served a basket of warm bread with a tasty garlic aoli which went great with the soup. I literally cleaned the bowl 🥣. I did not have beer or wine 🍺🍷,but I did see another group take out their corked bottle. This is a very modest appearing place. There is a charming nautical window on the inside door. There is one small step in from the street, but otherwise the floor is level for walking. The seating is pretty limited and there is a sign requesting visitors not to bring in large luggage, so drop your suitcases off first. There is no wifi to connect with. None of my servers seem to speak English, so I'm glad to have the translator downloaded on my phone. I hope you make it to Ushuaia, and that at least one of your meals is here. #shelivesontheroad #shesharestheroad #jamieinargentina #jamieinternationallyknown #Ushuaia

This is our second time to Ushuaia and we were so excited to come back and eat the whole crab here. Our first experience on our last trip in 2019 was very good - rustic but the crab was delicious and inexpensive around $30 USD. On this trip we were equally excited to return and enjoy the fresh king crab! We knew to arrive early as there os always a line - by the way the restaurant is closed on Sundays. Sadly, on this night they were “out of crab” even tho we were the first to be seated. It was also now listed as $160 USD (feeds 2)- whoa thats a jump in pricing!! Ok disappointing but we were happy to try the baked king crab with Parmesan. My husband and I both ordered it. After the first few bites we both had pieces of shell in our meal. Ok it happens, its crab…we kept going. Halfway thru the meal we had to stop eating. The excessive amount of shell fragments (some the size of a dime) was inexcusable. We called over the waitress as well as the manager and explained what the issue was. And kindly noted they may want to let the kitchen staff know so this wasn’t a repeat process. Unfortunately, we received no apology, no other acknowledgment and no reduction in the price of our meal. That sealed the deal for us and we will not be back.
Robert E — Google review
So lucky to be able to dine as the day before was closed due to public holiday. It's a simple restaurant. Had the seafood stew which was so generous with servings of scallops, mussels, prawns and some crab bits. Went very well with the bread provided and also probably one of the most affordable meal in Ushuaia. Went during lunch right after they opened so was able to get a table easily.

Parrilla La Estancia

Grill
Parrilla La Estancia is a must-visit for meat lovers in Argentina. This traditional restaurant offers perfectly cooked beef cuts and the authentic Fuegian lamb, slow-cooked over a wood-burning fireplace. The quick and friendly service adds to the experience, although it can get crowded. While some find the prices slightly adjusted on the English menu, locals highly recommend this spot for its amazing food and drinks.
Good service, really good food, plenty of wines to choose from. They really know how to make a steak here! The beef is good and they grill it just right. Other dishes are tasty as well. Yet, the prices are decent. Strongly recommend this place. This restaurant is where locals also eat. It is not a tourist trap!
Patt — Google review
I was so excited to try the Patagonian lamb. The food here wasn’t up to expectation. The lamb was not bad, there are pieces that are very tender but overall not that impressive. The prices are quite high and the service is lacking. The waiter makes sure to add the tip at the end and they don’t ever understand English for you to tell them not to add it. Paid $60 USD for lamb ribs that barely has much meat.
Hussein A — Google review
I visited La Estancia to try Patagonian lamb. If I remember correctly, they operate from 12:00 to 15:00, close in the afternoon, and reopen from 19:00 to midnight. The staff were not particularly friendly — especially an older gentleman who seemed almost annoyed when I asked about an item on the menu. The place itself is nice, and the meat I received was of good quality. It was my first time trying Patagonian lamb, but I personally found it rather bland and lacking in seasoning; it felt like they had simply cooked the lamb over fire without much preparation. As Turks, we are used to preparing lamb with more finesse and richer seasoning. This one felt quite plain, and when the light lamb aroma combined with the lack of salt and spices, it became something I didn’t enjoy. Of course, this is entirely a matter of personal taste and culinary background. That said, for those who want to try Patagonian lamb, this restaurant could be a good option. Prices are on the higher side, and considering the taste–price balance, I’d say it’s a bit overpriced. Overall, a passable experience.
Öner B — Google review
I ordered my steak medium- after 3 times, always well done, I was given a steak very very bloody (far beyond what is acceptable). The staff was not at all helpful or in any way supportive. Nevertheless some friends of mine had perfect steaks, but what happened to me should never ever happen in such a place with this reputation
Andreas M — Google review
Horrible expirence, the lamb was super dry, and the meat not so good also. Got robbed in 88,000 peso that’s absolutely not worth it. You can feel the neet was cooked in the morning and they just warm it. The drinks also cost too much.
Adi Z — Google review
Pretty average meat, some of it was a bit overcooked. But the price is good since they offer unlimited for a set price. Service is really kind and welcoming and the wine is good.
Lawrence H — Google review
I don't know if it was because we came at 23 (30 min before the service finish), but we weren't satisfied with food. The beef was like rubber and the fish was nothing special, I can cook better at home...
Anastasia L — Google review
While the food was good, I don't think it warranted the price. I wouldn't discard it as they have some great lamb, but I would search for other options first. They have pasta and other meats for people who don't want lamb.

María Lola Restó

Argentinian restaurant
María Lola Restó is a popular dining spot in Ushuaia, offering a modern and diverse menu inspired by Argentine and Patagonian cuisine. The restaurant specializes in seafood dishes, with the Fuegian trout risotto being a standout option. Situated in the heart of Ushuaia, María Lola provides breathtaking views, making it an ideal choice for couples seeking a special dining experience.
Hands-down, this was a near perfect meal. The only reason I downgraded service was because they were busy and probably could use one more server. But the staff was friendly, accommodating, the view amazing, the food, hot and fresh. The presentation lovely. The wine delicious. The seafood pasta with King Crab was divine, so much seafood I could hardly eat the dish. The pasta was super fresh. My dining companion had the Merluza Negra, also equally delicious. We followed the Chef’s pairing recommendation and ordered Savignon Blanc, that perfectly paired with our meals.

Came for dinner here and we had an incredible experience! Food was really delicious!! On top of the view and the service, wow, all elements for a really enjoyable evening. We had the classic bife and the lomo sureño and it was delicious! Highly recommend.
Fabiana S — Google review
Expensive place to eat out! But seems in line with ushuaia rates.. the dining scene is more elevated and seems more line fine dining. I had mussels with parsley which was really tasty and a medium rare malbec steak which was juicy but sweet? Wasnt the biggest fan of the sweet sauce.
Shruti P — Google review
Maria Lola resto is reasonably convenient from the main street. I would not consider it simple to access if you had a mobility issue as it's up a steep drive. The service staff was efficient and courteous. The only fish I could find that was reasonable local and fresh was the Sea Bass. The Sea Bass was somewhat plain although a very good portion size. No vegetables included, a very small portion of crab and two baby squid. Overall a plain meal lacking any depth of flavour. Too bad it lacked flavour as the portion size was generous. Salad was fresh and well prepared while the squid appeared rubbery and previously frozen. Overall a fair meal but a bit expensive . Reservations suggested. This rating considers food quality, price and service.

We came for a late lunch and it was nice that the restaurant wasn't busy. We got a lovely table with a view of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel. The food was great. I got a seafood dish with fish, shrimp and crab meat. My husband got a steak served with mashed potatoes. The steak was actually cooked medium rare and not overdone. The dessert was delicious. We were also able to leave the tip with our credit card which was great since we didn't have cash. Highly recommend, especially for tourists like us without Argentine Pesos.
Elizabeth C — Google review
Definitely the fanciest restaurant we have eaten at in Ushuaia. Pricy, portions are relatively small (especially the entrees) but the food is definitely really good. Service is very fast. Great views overlooking the port. Menu has English translations. Reservations recommended, although it is not as busy during the early afternoon hours.

Tia Elvira is a renowned restaurant in Ushuaia, established in 1978 by the Sigel family. It offers a blend of Argentine and German culinary influences, providing visitors with top-quality seafood dishes. The restaurant's specialty is the centolla from the Beagle Channel, known for its impeccable presentation. Situated along the Beagle Channel, Tia Elvira provides stunning views and an inviting ambiance adorned with maritime decor.
I don’t know what everyone is talking about with the $400 price. I had a vegetable and Rico cannelloni, a bottle of water, and the tiramisu and the total came to $33.03, including the gratuity. The food was tasty, but the tiramisu had a little too much liquor for me. Otherwise, I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Raana M — Google review
I ordered the arroz con mariscos (mixed seafood with rice). The clams, squid, shrimp and mussels were not fresh. The squid was so hard it’s not even chewable. Only the scallops was edible. For the quality of their food, their prices are exorbitant. Interior is cozy and service is prompt.
Amy T — Google review
The original plan was to have king crab here. But it is way more expensive than El Viejo Marino next door. The grilled trout was good. Met a team of people who released three king crabs into the sea. Great people and great cause!
Venus 6 — Google review
The food was okay and the crabs 🦀 expensive. The old fashioned decor was reminiscent of fishing days past and collectibles gave it a unique touch. It doesn’t open for dinner until 7pm since it closes between lunch and dinner.
Lindsay C — Google review
Fantastic, I had the crab Parmesan and my colleague had the garlic crab, both were delicious. We also had the crab empanadas which were the best I have ever had, they could have easily been the main course. The setting is wonderful and the server could not have been better. Highly recommended
David H — Google review
Came here to eat fresh centolla. The centolla appeared fresh but the meat, for whatever reason, did not seem that fresh. Some pieces were still stuck on to the shell. And the price is extremely high. We got one entree, 3 soups, one centolla, and some appetizers and wine and our bill was nearly $400 USD. Tread carefully!
Lawrence H — Google review
Able to get in for last order while out cruise arrived and allow us get off at 10pm. We have 3 king 🦀 for 6 ppl and 1 white wine. It's yummy and end our Antarctica trip with perfect ending.
April L — Google review
This is a higher class seafood restaurant — you can expect to pay about 33% more. The service is excellent and there will be seating vs others close by where if you’re not there at opening then you’re waiting for everyone to finish eating dinner before you get to start. We got the Parmesan King Crab, which was delightful since we didn’t have to remove the meat from the crab! Delicious too. As was the Merluza Negra with tomato fish sauce. It’s not the best value but it’s still delicious!

It prides itself on using the freshest local ingredients and offers an impressive selection of Argentine wines. While it may be relatively expensive, the food is considered worth the price by many patrons.
We had seafood tasting menu- it included a beet soup, king crab, scallop ceviche and paper baked sea bass plus wine pairing with the meal. Everything was tasty just the beet soup is a little salty to our taste. Nice view of the Beagle channel, great service. A good choice if you want a romantic, nice dinner at ushuaia.

An exceptional seafood dinner! The service, food, and atmosphere were all wonderful. I recommend everything we ordered: scallop ceviche, king crab, hake, dulce de leche crepe, and lemon ice cream with champagne sauce. This restaurant is worth a stop if you're in Ushuaia!

Unforgettable dinner at Kaupè! We ate divinely: dishes prepared with top-quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. The scallops were seared flawlessly, delicate and flavorful, while the cod was delicious and rich in taste. The service was excellent: attentive, friendly, and very professional, which made the evening even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ushuaia: a true journey into the flavors of Southern Patagonia.

Delightful dinner at Kaupe. We had their tasting menu which was great value that included half a bottle of white wine, a champagne and a desert sparkling wine too. Plus coffee. Great views. Lovely service. High end restaurant.

Amazing restaurant! The Crab Kaupe was so good we directly ordered a second portion 👌 but also all other fish and seafood dishes are excellent!

Perhaps the best restaurant in Ushuaia. Nicely decorated and very nice staff. We had the king crab and scallops as an appetizer. For main course the Rib Eye without bone. For dessert the crepe with fruit and lime ice cream with warm champagne sauce. All this was of very good quality and very tasty. Can highly recommend this restaurant as a tourist.

Wonderful experience and a must try when in Ushuaia! We tried the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was fantastic. The food is well thought out, delicious, and true to the region. Expensive, no questions about that. We're talking about USD 100 per person, including a wine bottle. That said, possibly the best restaurant my partner and I have ever been to. Even when comparing to Michelin-starred restaurants in South America or Europe, Kalma comes out on top. The attention to detail, the creativity in every dish, and the flawless execution make it an unforgettable experience. If you’re in Ushuaia and want a meal that is truly world-class, this is the place.

Excellent restaurant, best for celebrations or to have a surprising and unique culinary experience whilst travelling. The food is of Michelin star quality and the attention to detail given in the food and service is fabulous. The folks who attended us were very kind. The food is unique, a lot of fusion options with local produces. On top of what we ordered, we were given bread and final dessert for tasting( sorry don't know any names). We tried the lamb, beef and risotto for main course, salmon appetizer, and thee desserts. The cashew cream dessert, the white chocolate and the seaweed based one were all great.

We stopped here on a cruise and we were not disappointed! The food was incredible. They started us off with this welcome soup, which I wanted to keep eating more of. Then we had risotto and I added the fish to it and it melted like butter. The steak was the best steak that we’ve had in Argentina so far. If you’re visiting Ushuaia you have to visit this place! You won’t be disappointed

Really liked this place. We were fortunate to walk in and meet the chef before being seated. He told us a little about his vision for the food and about the restaurant. Our experience was good and I would say that this is fine dining compared to the restaurants we tried closer to the strip. Service was great and the experience was top notch. My main meal was the fish soup that was apparently caught by the chef that morning, and my spouse had the lamb. Both were delicious! If we had more time, we would have tried the set menus but that will have to wait until our next visit

This is one of the best restaurants we have been to in the Southern part of South America! If you are a foodie it is a must visit. The chef is using local ingredients and making dishes you would not expect in remote Ushuaia. It is pricey but well worth the experience!

Dining at Kalma was an exceptional experience. The food was of the highest quality — beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and full of refined flavors. We had fish, which was prepared to absolute perfection, using only local ingredients and fantastic combinations of spices unique to the Patagonian region. The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable, and the staff were exceptionally courteous, professional, and attentive. And the desserts — simply out of this world. Every detail, from the service to the culinary presentation, reflected true excellence. A truly outstanding restaurant that deserves the highest praise.

Really excellent fish dishes. Service and the chef himself were very friendly but sometimes struggled to explain every dish. Also, the paper menu did not correspond to the actual menu being served (e.g., there was no king crab). Somewhat bland ice cream in the desert was a small letdown. Still, all in all well worth the visit.

Paso Garibaldi

$$$$affordable
Argentinian restaurant
Restaurant
Paso Garibaldi is a must-visit spot in the Ushuaia area. The breathtaking views of Lago Escondido from the top are truly awe-inspiring, with snow-capped peaks and pristine landscapes. As you descend through the old roads, you'll be immersed in nature at its best.
This restaurant was outstanding from start to finish. The meal began with delicious bread that set the tone for the rest of the experience. The soup of the day—a beetroot soup—was bursting with amazing flavor. The chicken curry risotto was unlike anything I’ve tried before, truly unique and memorable. For dessert, the almond orange cake was perfectly executed, one of the rare places that gets it just right. The service was also excellent; we had no issues at all, unlike what some other reviewers mentioned. I’d recommend this place wholeheartedly, even on my deathbed!

Changed our entire impression of Argentinian food, absolute amazing food that is cooked and prepared with love and passion. We tried Don Julio and El Preferido in BA but they have nothing on this. Recommend the Hake Fish and Lamb Ravioli, or anything on the menu for the matter.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The vibe is both cozy and stylish—perfect for a night out or a casual dinner. The food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell they put real thought and creativity into the menu—there’s a unique twist to everything, making it a truly original culinary experience. The service was just as impressive. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they’re serving. You really feel taken care of without being rushed. To top it all off, the location is fantastic—easy to get to, with plenty to explore nearby. If you’re looking for a place that delivers on all fronts—great food, great service, originality, and atmosphere—this is it. Highly recommend!

Still sitting here and have a Pisco! Absolutely the best dinner we had during our stay in Ushuaia! The Risotto with Crab and the beef was absolutely on taste. The derive team is stunning and very helpful! We will come again before finally leaving for home! 👍👍👍👍👍

Wow! This place is fantastic! We have been staying in town for several days and gone to the best rated restaurants but this is the best - by far! The staff were incredible, especially the woman who greeted and served us, she was very friendly and genuine. The large sideroom is so cozy with wood and large windows. There was a wonderful singer and guitar player which only added to the evening. Everything we ordered was truly delicious but the highlights were definitely the black hake(fish) which we had two different ways, the pumpkin sage and hazelnut risotto and the awesome crab ceviche. To top it off, the chocolate volcano and the berry crumble were excellent. Everything about this restaurant was phenomenal and we would recommend it to anyone.

The best restaurant I have visited on this, my second trip to South America. The team are very friendly, the wine and gin excellent and the food sublime. I went twice in the week I stayed in Ushuaia and have recommended it to others I have met.

Food: I had the trout fish ravioli and it was sooooo good and I wasn't even a ravioli person. The trout filling was delicious and fresh, the the cream sauce with leak and herb was seasoned perfectly. The shrimp was slightly overcooked than what I'd have preferred but I'm also very picky about shrimp 😅 The mixed bean appetizer they served with bread was also surprisingly tasty. Service: The waiter was very friendly and patient. Atmosphere: I went for an early dinner at 7pm so it was probably quieter, and the atmosphere was very cozy and lovely. I also liked that it's not located on the main street although it's not too far away. I'm actually planning to return in the next few days and try more dishes!

Only restraunt in Ushuaia we returned to. Great cooking and inventive menu. Deserts were good and everything had great service. Tried risotto, seafood, ravioli and meat dishes and everything was good.
