Nestled in the heart of Taiwan, Changhua Confucius Temple is an 18th-century gem that seamlessly blends traditional Taiwanese culture with natural beauty and historical whispers. The temple features nine historic stone monuments and offers a tranquil atmosphere, making it a rare find for international visitors. The architecture reflects Zhangzhou style and differs slightly from Tainan Confucian Temple. Despite being almost demolished in the past, this place offers a spectacular view of the low-lying areas of Changhua city.

A quiet spot even in the bustling area of Changhua city. Peaceful and solemn. Loved the traditional architectures. Glad to know about the specialities and traditional skills of locals. Free entry. Free brochure. Restroom available.

Free historical and cultural spot.
Micke L — Google review
The Confucius Temple in Changhua was almost a national first-class monument that was demolished to cover shopping malls. It was built in 1726, 4 years of the Qing Dynasty Yongzheng. The architecture of Zhangzhou style is slightly different from that of Tainan Confucian Temple. During the Japanese occupation period, it was the seat of the Changhua Public School of the "National Language Center". In 1906, part of the wall door was demolished in the "urban correction plan". In 1971, the Taiwan Provincial Government and Changhua County Government once planned to demolish the Confucian Temple and sell land to cover shopping malls. Later it was demolished for renovation due to local opposition. In 1983, it was designated as a national monument.

Sights & Landmarks
Nanyao Temple, situated 2km south of Changhua train station, is a significant stop on the Matsu Pilgrimage. The temple's unique character is evident in its central hall, adorned with Doric columns, baroque-style decor, and Japanese shrines. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty period, this historic site showcases a fusion of Fujianese, Western, and Japanese architectural styles.
Great local temple. Built in 1738, it's nearly 300 years old. Awesome local culture and photo opportunities.
Mark — Google review
Closed for renovations for the last two years. According to locals, the temple won't reopen until the end of 2025 at the earliest.
Jim F — Google review
Great architecture, calm and cool place.

Nanyao Temple is a Mazu temple in Changhua city. It was built in the 18th century during the Qing Dynasty and it's a place where generations of locals have come to seek good fortune and receive the blessings of Mazu. It is one of the temples where the Dajia Mazu make the annual pilgrimage during March of the lunar calendar.
Alex K — Google review
Nanyao Palace is a historic site in Changhua County, dating back to 1738 at the earliest. In terms of architecture, it can be said to be one of the most solemn and gorgeous temples in Changhua City. The architectural pattern is four towers and four halls, using three architectural styles. The Sanchuan Hall and the Main Hall at the front are traditional Chinese-style buildings. The Bagua algae well on the ceiling of the Sanchuan Hall at the main entrance is very stylish. It is stacked up by a bucket arch without using any nails. Dragon. The Guanyin Hall behind the main hall is one of the most distinctive temples in Taiwan. It is also the oldest building in Nanyao Palace, which combines the styles of Fujian, Western and Japanese. The last apse is a three-story building, made of concrete. It was completed in 1973 in a modern antique style. You can go to the third floor of the apse to enjoy the beauty of the entire temple. The height of the four halls has gradually increased from the beginning to the end, and the pattern is rigorous and beautiful. The whole can be said to be Taiwan's architectural gem.

Bagua Mountain Skywalk is a 1,004-meter-long elevated walking path that winds through the treetops, offering scenic views of Changhua and the surrounding nature. It connects the main site of the Great Buddha of Baguashan to nearby attractions and is part of the popular Baguashan Scenic Area. Visitors can drive up to the mountain top or take a beautiful trail leading up to it.
Absolutely amazing place. A great look out of Changhua city, no matter it's day view or night view. Worth a visit when you in Changhua.
Gastronomicrice — Google review
A super scenic stroll from the Cultural & creative park + Changhua Arts Center to Baguashan, there are many plants 🌱 critters and viewing spots you can find along the way. The route also cuts through the baseball ⚾️ field where you can observe others practicing. A great breather and fresh air away from the town hustle.
Amos S — Google review
Nice pleasant walk beside trees, away from traffic. Though, must be a bit too hot during summer.
Ryuhei H — Google review
It's an elevated walkway that links various of Bagua Mountain. It is a novel idea that helps reduce congestion on existing roads and pathways, but I do not recommend it. There is no shelter and the flooring is slippery. Not suitable for young children on prams or the elderly.
Alvin L — Google review
The so-called "Sky path" is a long extended passage around the hills. It gives a nice view of Changhua city on the way.
Matthew S — Google review
Pretty good view of the ChangHwa city. It's free too. Went during Dec so wasn't too hot or too cold. Plenty of places to walk and look at things for free. Simply experience the temple culture of Taiwan. The toilet are those temporary ones. Brig your own tissues. Otherwise, you can buy some packets for cheap. Got 2 for $10 NTD. But can't guarantee that's always there.
Genevieve E — Google review
The skypath is 1KM long and is the longest in Taiwan. However you could not see much scenery from the skypath, mostly trees and plants as it was not that high.

Mt. Bagua

Scenic spot
Baguashan is a picturesque hill known for its iconic 24-meter Buddha statue and a charming pedestrian skybridge nestled amidst the lush trees. The Baguashan Skywalk offers stunning views of the verdant canopy, while the literature trail beckons visitors to explore the ecological beauty. Additionally, travelers can immerse themselves in culture at the Changhua Arts Museum or rejuvenate at the Spring of Youth.
Every visit to the Buddha statues brings in inner peace. And when it is a huge statue with hardly any crowd, you tend to be dwarfed. But the visit was wonderful. Impressive statue with great photo opportunities. Easy parking and plenty to look at. The statue itself was amazing but loads of other items around as well. Some super views over the city. It was one of scenic spots in Changhua for visitors. The attraction was giant Buddha statue on top of the mountain. Clean place and comfortable environment. We took a taxi from Changhua Station to come there due to little bit inconvenient location.
Harshit P — Google review
The tourist town of Mount Baqua has changed a lot, there are lots of people selling around the area, paid parking is also available, toilets are also available but they are a bit dirty (sorry), near Mount Baqua there are also attractions such as watching hellish torture in the monastery which is quite exciting, the road to the monastery is steep and lots of stairs...😅, but when you get to the 3rd floor inside the monastery it is very dark... if I may suggest, on the footpath in the attraction, give directions or a small footpath light because suddenly it goes straight there is a wooden ladder and I almost fell between the boundary of the ladder and the footpath.. there was also a bucket beside it (which I think might be for collecting raindrops that seep in) which should be removed if it is no longer used.. but I understand because the ticket keeper is also an elderly person.. the ticket price is still affordable..🙏🏻
Lidia L — Google review
Public place where you can visit and be with nature. Can see one of the biggest Buddha in Taiwan and located in Changhua, Taiwan. Parking lots available and vendors of food are there. Favor in a road and great view around Changhua when your upthere.
Jeny T — Google review
This place is quite breathtaking and offers a panoramic view of the city. It has a big statue of buddha, several canopies around the area. Near the canopy walk, there's a massage lady who offers great massage.
Cyril M — Google review
I've been here so many times whenever I want to jog together with my besties. The scenery will really amazed anyone who comes here and there are lots of senior citizens who also come to this place to do some physical exercise.
Leonor E — Google review
Really nice place to visit. We stop by on our way from Taipei to Alishan. Navigated by Google Maps. There are few things to see here and not just the Buddha statue. We explore the place more than an hour. You can find some restaurants in 10 minutes driving or even less than that. Take into consideration that you need to pay for the parking. However, it was very cheap. Enjoy your time!
Hezi B — Google review
Can see the beautiful city of Changhua from this place. You need to wear a long sleeves or trousers so that it could protect from being bitten by the mosquito or other small insect.. This is not that much relaxing place 😕.
Ombahadur T — Google review
Beautiful spot. Any trip to Changhua needs a visit to Baguashan. You can wander around the Buddah and surrounding temple buildings as well as the gardens and wider area. Great gift shop on the ground floor to the right of the Buddah. Several stalls selling street food such as dried squid, tea eggs etc. There's a great view over Changhua from the main lookout - you can see as far as Lugang and the coast on a clear day. Further back there is a fish pond and if you keep exploring you'll find the aeroplanes, steps down the waterfall and the sports centre. There are clean toilet facilities, a visitor centre by the main arch and plenty of spots to park your scooter. I'd recommend walking up the back steps from near the university. Can get busy, but not overly so, just people taking photos. A great place to come watch fireworks on New Years Eve. 5 stars, though my only warning is that at night, there are stray dogs lurking in the crevices ;)

Lukang Folk Arts Museum

Museums
The Lukang Folk Arts Museum is housed in a grand mansion dating back to 1919, showcasing thousands of cultural artifacts from the Ming and Qing Dynasty. The well-preserved rooms offer a glimpse into the lives of wealthy families from the past, with antique furniture and traditional household items on display. Visitors can explore the exquisite collection, including clothing, furniture, and everyday objects while enjoying the fine garden that surrounds the museum.
A fantastic museum! Enjoyed the exhibition a lot, especially the rooms on the second floor. Also, the garden is very quiet and peaceful. The only problem was that some signs had no translation into English, but otherwise it is one of the best places I‘ve visited in Lukang 🫶🏽

Really interesting museum, lots of cultural stuff in there and great views around. Some rooms upstairs spooked me a little bit tho 👻😅
Kate Z — Google review
This architecture has 108 years of history. Not crowded but you will need to get tickets to enter.
Eileen ( — Google review
To peek into how a wealthy family in a century lived. Only the outer structure and couple rooms inside you do see the heyday of this family. Majority the items on display are from that age but may not be necessary from this wealthy family. It a popular location to take wedding photos, because we saw a newly wedded couple are in full blown wedding dress posting and shooting away. Not photos allowed inside the building, only outside in the yard and hallways.
Steven C — Google review
Simply a an amazing museum. Great display of Taiwanese culture and heritage. Thanks to one of the top 5 richest family in Taiwan. This is an excellent museum. I had a great time here. The architecture is a combination of East and West. Perfectly blended and outstanding. Highly recommend for all ages.

A very well preserved old residence built during the Japanese occupation period, that has now been converted into a folk arts museum. You will find many artefacts of Taiwanese folk art as well as objects of every day living of the olden days. A place suitable for adults and children, and for both Taiwanese and tourists. There is a nice cafe in the garden as well. Ticket can be purchased at the entrance.
Alex C — Google review
Love love love this place. This is definitely the highlight of my trip to Lukang. I believe this property used to belong to a very wealthy family, so we got to see what life was like in the past for these families through the fancy stuff (back then) that is left here. The bedrooms, the office, the kitchen…. are still all here and the past just seemed so vivid when I walked through the property.

Legendary Taiwanese family Ku's(辜) origin house place. Like other families, Ku built it after his career was so success, and reputation was know by the Japanese Emperor around 1915. By 1919, the main building was accomplished, use as Ku family's economic, politic, and military center. you will find rich people how to live 100 years ago, and you will find out the living is much better in the 21st century, even a common ordinary people like you.

彰化老担阿璋肉圓

$$$$cheap
Taiwanese restaurant
Restaurant
When in Changhua, make sure to visit 彰化阿璋肉圓 for a taste of their famous meatball. Unlike the typical meatballs found abroad, this one features a chewy glutinous skin enveloping the flavorful meat, served with a generous amount of gravy. The addition of bamboo shoots and small mushrooms provides a delightful crunch without being too oily. This local favorite has even been featured in movies and is known for its budget-friendly prices.
If you are in Changhwa to try the local fare, you really got to stop by this shop to try the famous meatball. It’s a different type from what’s usually seen abroad, cos the meat is enveloped in a glutinous type of skin that’s very chewy. With a generous serving of gravy, the meatball can be very filling. There’s also some bamboo shoots and a small mushroom in the meatball, making it crunchy and not too oily. The shop was featured in a popular TW film in 2013, and the President was at the shop to try before. So it’s perpetually full of customers popping for a snack. You should order a soup to go along with the meatball. I ordered a gongwan (small meatball) soup that’s cheap and delicious!
Leon T — Google review
Popular Ba Wan Taiwanese meatball store in Changhua. Must try traditional dish when visiting Changhua. Flavourful but the meatball I got wasn't cooked through and was too chewy. Plenty more seats with aircon across the street. More comfortable. Clean toilet. Free soup provided to customers.
Kai ( — Google review
This dish is entirely new to me. I was told it's meatball and I was expecting round meatballs, but it was completely different. A bit starchy but the gravy was nicely flavoured with tender meat, and patronised by someone famous.

陶板屋 彰化東民店

$$$$affordable
Japanese restaurant
If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, look no further than 陶板屋 彰化東民店. This charming restaurant has been on my radar for quite some time, and I was thrilled to finally visit it thanks to a friend's invitation. It turned out to be the perfect occasion as we celebrated a birthday, complete with complimentary cake and memorable photos printed for us. Having not visited in several years, I was pleasantly surprised that the quality of food and service remained exceptional.
Excellent service, tasty food, and pleasant environment. Complimentary cake and photo for birthday guest. We ordered the garlic steak, duck, and salmon. All of them are very good. Especially the duck is so well cooked. The steamed egg custard are so soft and full of flavors!
S H — Google review
It was my pleasure to be invited to this restaurant by a good friend. In fact, this has been a restaurant saved in my Google Maps for quite some time. I've been looking forward to eating at this restaurant for a while. As it turns out, this was my birthday month, and I was able to get a free piece of cake as well as a picture taken of the occasion. They printed four copies, one for each of us. I thought this was a very nice touch, in addition to the discount that was applied to my meal Food: the selection is really great, and there is a diversity of different types of food available. I was very happy with what I ordered, and everything was very fresh and tasty. The people I ate with ordered other dishes and they were equally satisfied with what they had ordered. The only one who played I had was that the soldier I ordered was extremely sour. Embarrassingly, I had to spit it up on the table as it really was too much to handle. The server told me that I should have probably started more, but I still think it was a bit too sour to begin with. However, I was very happy that the server was able to substitute the drink for me and provide me with a latte instead. As mentioned, I received a free birthday cake. The amount of food was also quite impressive. There were a couple of dishes that I had to give to one of my friends, and one that I had to take away since I could not finish. I was definitely completely full after having one of the sad meals. And it should be noted that I do have a big appetite! Service: the service was quite good. They were very attentive and took care of our plates as soon as we finish each course. The servers were fairly young, and they may have banged the dishes together a few times, but they were most certainly doing their best! I also was able to have a picture taken to celebrate the birthday. In fact, the server responsible for taking the photograph was also able to send it to my friend via iPhone connection, so we are both the digital version of the physical version. I did not expect this, and I found this to be a really wonderful way to celebrate a special meal among four friends Atmosphere: this is an elegant establishment, and the seating is very comfortable and aesthetics are very lovely. It is certainly most comfortable and relaxing place. We never felt rushed at any point, and we took our time to chat and enjoy our meals together. Other: there's not much parking directly close to the restaurant, but around the corner, there is an underground parking lot that is only about 5 to 10 minute walk away. I consider this to be quite convenient, given the congestion and traffic situation in this neighborhood. Overall, I would suggest going here with friends. Originally, I had saved this place in my Google Maps as a place I wanted to visit alone or as a takeaway restaurant. However, after visiting, I would say that it would be better to go with friends and to enjoy and relish the experience! I will keep the photograph from that meal as a precious memento, as one of my dear friends will be away for a little while. Thanks to all the staff for their attentive service. Since my friend treated us to the meal, I cannot come in as the prices. However, I my meal was discounted as July is my birth month. Definitely a place that I can recommend, and make sure to have a reservation in advance.

Authentic Changhua local food - deep fried Bahwan (Taiwanese meatball) that you must try! Small for NTD 50, large for NTD 100 with scallops. Expect to long wait in line though… the owner seems to me intentionally slow down the cooking process🤔 Even the dog falls asleep xD

Noodle shop
Chinese noodle restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a unique culinary experience, look no further than Cat-Rat Noodle in Changhwa City. This charming eatery offers a delightful twist on traditional noodles, reminiscent of Dandan noodles but with its own distinct flair. The signature dry noodles are a must-try, paired perfectly with their flavorful braised pork knuckles and deliciously tender duck necks that have garnered quite the reputation among locals and visitors alike.
Friendly staff. Must try the signature noodles (dry) and the delicious braised pork knuckles! Will come back again as the taste is great and price is reasonable.

The soup base is really good and it is free refills. Got the combo noodles, but I think I would just order the mushroom meatballs instead. Is not bad.
Emi C — Google review
I tried the noodles there, but they were quite normal, nothing special. However, the price is cheap.
Jacky J — Google review
ordinary noodles, not even average; but the soup tastes good, not savory, not oily. meatball is chewy and filled with few (tiny) pieces of mushroom, guess it’s the highlight of this cuisine. by the way, it is very considerate of the owner to separate the soup and noodles for take-away ;) overall, the food is overpriced and not as good as expectation. maybe that’s the traditional memory of the locals, worth a try anyway!
Joe S — Google review
Very tasty noodles that is visited by many celebrities. The owner is friendly and takes cares of her guest needs.

Pizza Rock 搖滾披薩彰化店 Changhua

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a delightful pizza experience in Taiwan, look no further than Pizza Rock Changhua. This charming eatery is renowned for its thin crust Italian-style pizzas that are both delicious and satisfying without leaving you feeling overly stuffed. Each pizza is crafted with care and baked in specialized ovens, ensuring an even cook that results in perfectly crispy edges and a hot, flavorful center.
I was about to order pizza hut until my partner suggested this place, and I’m so glad that he did. I’m from Europe and we’re pretty proud when it comes to pizza, but wow, Pizza Rock gets everything right. The staff were all polite and friendly, and we were lucky enough to visit while the owners were there themselves, who were also very nice. The service was everything you could hope for and the dining area is cosy and inviting. The food itself is impressive and I know I’m going to be thinking about that buffalo dipping sauce for a few days to come! The thickness of the pizza crust was great and cooked to perfection. You absolutely have to try their buffalo wings too! I will definitely be visiting the Taipei branch after the holidays. Pizza Rocks actually rocks!
Natasha — Google review
Great service, great food, my go-to place for pizza in Taiwan. Hate the feeling of bloatedness after eating pizza? Pizza Rock offers thin crust Italian style pizza, with reasonable pricing, you can choose medium or large size pizzas. The pizzas are made fresh, baked in their specialized ovens that cook evenly - you won’t find unnecessarily burnt bits, but hot and crispy edged pizzas cooked to perfection, satisfying every bite making you crave for more! There are multiple chains across Taiwan, and they all have standardized quality. Today the crust was just a bit too thin, but it was still delicious. Don’t hesitate to order a portion of their buffalo wings - I don’t know what they put in it, but it’s the best I’ve ever had, and I always order them!

Loved Pizza Rock!! They have so many delicious options. My pulled pork pizza was NT$209. They also have salads, nachos, and desserts. Would definitely recommend. They have an employee that speaks English, too. Thanks, Pizza Rock!
Rebecca S — Google review
As a senior student who just released from heavy schoolwork, I feel very satisfied with the atmosphere surrounding the dining place and a variety of options to choose. I will definitely come back again !
Ian W — Google review
So-so. When I first started coming here 2 1/2 years ago, the flavor of the cheese, tomato sauce, and crust was authentic. It was pretty close to tasting like a New York City pizza. (I'm from NYC.) In the past year, the crust has gotten flatter, dryer, and has lost some of it's taste. It also weighs heavier in your stomach. The tomato sauce and cheese are also not as flavorful, as though they've switched their formula. In the dining area, they always play classic rock 'n roll music, which adds to the experience of being in a traditional American pizza restaurant. On my last visit, they were playing a very bad pop song on repeat the entire time. This is unacceptable. At least play other songs! I think this will be my last visit to Pizza Rock. The taste and quality of the pizza do not justify its price.
Lu D — Google review
The best Pizza ever😋 Love the other dishes also.😍 The staff is very accommodating and good in English.😉
Maricris D — Google review
Often understocked so closes early, even when they have enough ingredients they close hours before other pizza restaurants in Changhua. Go to Pizza Hut or Dominoes instead. Edit: in reply to the owners comment, you fail to prepare the right amount of ingredients on a regular basis. You also close two hours earlier than Pizza Hut (who are currently doing a two for one offer).
Heggy C — Google review
Pizza Rock is by far the best pizza I have come across in Taiwan. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and there is a nice variety of pizza, paninis, salads, and calzones. I appreciate that they carry Dr. Pepper, root beer and ginger ale, sodas that are hard to find elsewhere in Taiwan. If you are craving great pizza and a nice restaurant atmosphere, then pizza rock is the best.

Great coffee, good bread and pretty good brunch. Very stylish restaurant with fairly friendly staff. Lost a star because I thought the beef breakfast was over priced and not that tasty but I’ll go back and try some other menu items.

Definitely the worst Red Velvet Cake I've ever had in Taiwan and it's 180 twd! (With that price I can buy a pretty delectable French mouse cake in Taichung.) They cheap out on the cream cheese frosting, it's overwhelmingly sweet with no tanginess (Kinda taste like fondant.) Just another overrated place on Instagram.

Highly recommend this place. The food was absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients. I had to order more bread & coffee as they tasted so nice. The staff was also accommodating and the shop was clean.

Just ordered this for delivery. I knew the oatly latte was a little expensive compared to other places, but I was disappointed to see it arrive in a small cup (I guess 12 ounces, maybe 10), but then I feel downright tricked when I open it up and it's half full. You have to be kidding. Yes, I understand the foam will dissipate, but this is a joke. Oh, and the second cold oatmilk latte (no ice) is about 4/5 full. Bowl I ordered is also small and is just vegetables on white rice. I am so happy to pay a little extra for extra good food, but this ain't it.

阿章爌肉飯 筒仔米糕 is a renowned eatery in Changhua County, known for its understated counter-service and delectable rice cakes, soups, and other bites. This popular spot offers braised pork over rice, a must-try dish in the area. While primarily open for dinner due to staffing constraints, they do have a single Bento option available during lunchtime.
The food is delicious. The soy-stewed pork with rice has three type to choose. The fat , medium and lean you can choose. If you only have two people to dine in. I think that Dried radish and Pickled Mustard Cabbage can order small serve.

I am not a fan of fatty food but my opinion is that the pork knuckle here are the best, it is very tasty and you do not really feel the greasiness of the fat at all. The price of the food are considered at the lower side. Will definitely come back to this place again if given the chance

阿章爌肉飯筒仔米糕 is one of the most famous spots for braised pork over rice in Changhua County and I used to visit it at least once a week when i worked in the neighborhood. There is only one Bento option on the lunch menu and dine-in is only available for dinner due to staffing. We got a bento with stewed cabbage to-go and shared it with a group of two. The portion was good with reasonable price and the taste was decent. However, the pork was a little dry and too salty in our opinion.

Not the best but not bad at all. Their rice cake is my favorite.

What happen to this place?! I wonder. Got there before 12 at noon. First of all, not allow to dine in coz they don’t have enough staff (weird but acceptable). Secondly, the MAIN reason for leaving a review!! The dishes are COLD, both side dishes and the meat. Why would you serve cold stuff to the clients?! I’m simply disappointed. And yes, I kindly asked if they can recycle the paper meal box for me after finishing it nearby at the sidewalk…. It’s a nope Used to love 阿章 but I’ll think twice next time.

溪湖阿秀羊肉爐

Hot pot restaurant
This restaurant in Xihu, known as 溪湖阿秀羊肉爐, offers a simple dining space where they serve delicious lamb hot pots. It is popular among locals and foreigners alike, with a constant stream of customers waiting both inside and outside the restaurant. The tender goat meat, fragrant herbal broth, fresh vegetables, and silky sesame oil wheat noodles make for a satisfying meal.
As pretty much the only foreigner regularly visiting this restaurant in Chang Hua, they now know my name when I walk in to put myself on the waiting list. It's a huge place with people spilling outside while waiting for a table and the food is always excellent. The goat meat is tender and juicy, the herbal broth fragrant, the vegetables fresh and crispy, and the side of sesame oil wheat noodles are satisfyingly silky. This time I ordered the pork and water chestnut balls and they were wonderful.

One of the best lamb hot claypot in Chunghua! There are varieties of meat parts to choose from. You could have them stir fried or cooked in the hot pot. Gets very busy in the winter seasons. Great choice for a reunion or family gathering. Parking is rather difficult around this part of town; there is a parking lot at the rear of the market.

黑肉麵

Noodle shop
Deli
The noodle shop 黑肉麵 offers excellent pork chop noodles and rice dishes. The pork meat is incredibly tender and soft, easily falling apart when picked up with chopsticks. It is highly recommended to visit this place whenever possible, as the food is truly delicious. However, it may be challenging to order if you don't know any Chinese. In such cases, one can always seek assistance from others or observe what fellow diners are ordering.
Excellent pork chop noodles/rice. The pork meat just falls apart when you pick it up with chopsticks because it is so tender and soft. Anytime I am back, I will make an effort to eat there. (Translated by Google) This old restaurant in Changhua, where I grew up as a snack, used to have big chunks of pork ribs that were tender and tasty. Later, the price gradually increased, and the quality of the meat became less stable. Even the chicken rolls seemed to have become thinner and dry, so Changhua people eat it. It is a kind of delicious food in memories. I hope this memory will not become more and more out of tune⋯⋯🥺 (Original)

(Translated by Google) The environment has improved, but it cannot be used inside, only take-out. I can no longer hear the friendly old aunties shouting for food orders one after another. In the past, the ribs had a multi-layered texture and had the essence of being slow-cooked, but now they are extremely salty and you can’t taste the aroma of the ribs. The side dishes are very common and the rice is not big. Steamed egg soup used to have a broth that was similar to the essence of stew, and the eggs would also emit aroma. Now, it is completely salty and contains too much MSG. I miss the taste of the past and will never come back. Has the chef and owner changed?

TASTy Changhua Siwei Branch

$$$$affordable
Steak house
Western restaurant
TASTy Changhua Siwei Branch offers a delightful dining experience that is both affordable and satisfying. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a solo meal, the restaurant impresses with its fresh, perfectly cooked dishes. The steak, for instance, is expertly prepared to your desired doneness—a rarity in Taiwan! With set menus available at reasonable prices, you can enjoy a full course meal complete with appetizers, main courses, desserts, and drinks without breaking the bank.
I had a wonderful experience here. I went for my birthday (alone, but happy). Food: the food was very delicious, fresh, and cooked perfectly. Considering the price, the amount and the portion size was actually very good. I have a big appetite but I left full. I asked for the state to be cooked medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Sometimes in Taiwan this is not the case, but in this restaurant the steak was cooked exactly to order. All the dishes were also very delicious. There is a great variety in terms of selections for the set menu. I really enjoyed the French onion soup. Service: from the moment I entered the door, the service was outstanding. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and led me to my seat. I do recommend making a reservation, as it became very busy after I had conceded. Even offering me extra bread or refills. The staff for extremely attentive in that they cleared the dishes almost immediately after I finished, and had the next course ready very quickly. As I was eating alone, the pace was perfect for my meal. I noticed that for other customers, those who were tiding with others and perhaps chatting, the service was also catered to their temple. As such, I do believe that the staff was very well versed in how to match the needs of different customers. I was quite impressed that, due to my birthday, I was provided with the free photograph. There was even a crown to wear, which was a little bit embarrassing, but it was all fun. Some of the stuff even use some English to communicate. For some dishes, they even provided some advice on how to best eat it, or would utensils to use. Every single staff member was equally professional, polite, even enthusiastic and friendly. Overall, I was left with a very positive impression and will definitely be back again. Atmosphere: there are a variety of tables for different parties. For example, as a single person, I was seated at a smaller table. As others came in, they were also seated in appropriate places. The ambiance was fairly nice, mostly quiet and peaceful. Others: since I came by scooter, there was a parking spot available. However, after I left I noticed that there were not that many places available. The location is in a small alley, so it may be inconvenient for those driving cars. This is something to consider before coming. Overall, I do recommend making a reservation as their online reservation platform is very user-friendly and I was able to make a reservation within only half an hour or so. Very convenient! Overall, I will definitely be back again!

Chiayi Airport

Domestic airport
Airport
Chiayi Airport (CYI) is the closest airport to Chiayi, offering domestic flights from Taipei and Kaohsiung. Upon arrival, travelers can easily access their destination in Chiayi by taxi or bus. The airport is known for its friendly staff and a range of free services at the help desk, including umbrellas, weather updates, and transportation arrangements. Despite being small and compact, the airport is well-maintained and provides a pleasant experience for visitors.
A great experience every time. From the parking lot attendant (extremely welcoming and friendly, opened the gate for me immediately and the cost is only NT20 per day for scooters or NT100 per day for cars. The Uni Air staff was extraordinarily friendly, accommodating, informative, and helpful with every request. There's a help desk which offers a staggering number of free services (free umbrellas if needed, weather and fight updates, arrangements for transportation, etc.). The security checkpoint is handled in a very professional manner, and very efficiently. The safety and security is outstanding, with triple checks of identity and boarding passes. Uni Air offers an APP which allows you to book and pay very conveniently online. As we took the bus to the plane, a man in a wheelchair was brought on. They really took great care of him. Taichung International Airport

International airport
Transportation
Taichung International Airport is located in a city with a population of 2.8 million, making it the third largest in Taiwan. To reach the airport from Taoyuan International Airport, passengers can take a shuttle bus to THSR Taoyuan Station, then transfer to THSR Taichung Station and finally take Nantou Bus to Qingjing Farm. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and costs around NT$262 per person.
⭐⭐⭐I have taken a flight to Kinmen once before. The airport in Taichung has domestic and international flights✈️✈️✈️. Most of them take international flights to the outer islands of Taiwan and the international terminal. The airport lobby is clean and bright, and you can feel the care taken by the airport staff in maintaining it. To get to the bus station or take a taxi, you need to walk to the parking lot outside the terminal. The currency exchange bank, ambulance station and other facilities next to the lobby are quite complete. There are restaurants and convenience stores inside such as Laerfu, so there are not many choices for the whole family. 🏝️🏝️🏝️ At present, the routes of Taichung Airport are gradually expanding, and the ticket counters of international airlines have even been moved to the side of domestic flights. More routes and flights should be added in the future. However, the current external transportation at the airport is not convenient. In addition to driving, picking up and dropping off, and taking taxis, the only public transportation is buses, and it is far from the city. It may not improve until the MRT is opened in the future.
K E — Google review
Small and nothing special. Transport going to the hotels and other places is kind of unpredictable and inconvenient. I wish there will be improvements on my next visit.
Sir G — Google review
This was my first visit to Taichung International Airport. It wasn’t a huge airport like Taoyuan but it was bright, clean, functional as well as spacious. There were lots of seats for waiting passengers. Counters were near and information boards were always updated with flight details promptly. There were 2 atriums, one for Domestic flights and the other for International flights. We were taking Uniair to Kinmen and counters were very neat. Counter staff were also very polite and experienced. Washrooms were spotless, spacious.
Tiffy K — Google review
It is a convenient and compact airport with free wifi . There is only one restaurant/café once you go through customs and a few duty free shops. There's also a play area for kids and a few nice spots to sit down while waiting for boarding.
E K — Google review
Too many luxurious duty free in the transit zone and too few eateries, no convenience store. However, there are plenty of AC and USB sockets for charging, nice WiFi, functional restrooms. And most importantly, it's clean.
György A — Google review
Nice new international terminal, the domestic one is very dated, but has more food options. Small size and efficient staff means it's easy to use, and for Taichung residents the convenience is worth it. Also a viable option for foreign tourists if there are cheaper flights into Taichung, with airlines like Tigerair, T'Way and VietJet starting RMQ flights this year. There are new airport express buses running through the city (King Bus 國光客運 A1, A, A3, 100NTD) as well as the cheaper 302 from Taichung Train Station down the express lane on Taiwan Blvd. The international departures area has good duty free shopping, rest areas, and play areas and library for kids. But there is only one restaurant. The food is good but would have expected much more.
Brodie H — Google review
Nice airport, not too crowded. It is very convenient to travel from 台灣大道 by the 302 bus.
Ekkachai K — Google review
I arrived here on Feb 20, 2017 and departed here on Feb 24, 2017. I paid the cheapest fare from Hong Kong to Taiwan if I landed here. Although the airport looks nice, there is no rail link and public buses to city centre or railway stations run infrequently!
