Amanohashidate

Mentioned on
10 lists
Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Amanohashidate is a 3.6km sandbar renowned for its stunning scenery, beaches, and countless pine trees. The area surrounding Amanohashidate offers an extensive pass valid for unlimited rides on various modes of transportation including trains and buses. Yosano Town and Kyotango City are known for Tango Chirimen, while Miyazu City boasts attractions divided by Amanohashidate.
A small amusement park-ish kind of a place with a great view! The lore and legend of the place is great so be sure to do the custom of looking at the islands through your legs because apparently it brings good luck! The view is amazing and very romantic. The town beneath it is small but it has lots of stores and local stuff for you to check out. The chair lift ride is actually fun, especially going down as you can see the view of the islands. Overall its a fun place to visit even with kids. If you want a less crowded attraction to go to then this one should be on your list.
HapiTravels — Google review
Amanohashidate truly lives up to its name — “the bridge to heaven.” Stretching gracefully across the blue waters of Miyazu Bay, this 3.6-kilometer sandbar lined with thousands of pine trees feels like something out of a painting. Whether you walk, cycle, or view it from above, every angle offers a sense of calm and wonder. From the southern hill, the view from Amanohashidate View Land is breathtaking — the sandbar appears like a floating path connecting sky and sea. Locals say to look at it upside down through your legs (matanozoki) to see it as a “bridge to heaven,” and it’s easy to see why. The rotating bridge adds a charming touch, gracefully turning to let boats pass, symbolizing the gentle pace of life here. A speed boat ride beneath it adds a spark of excitement, giving a fresh perspective of the pine-covered stretch and the surrounding mountains. Quiet temples like Chion-ji, cozy cafes, and the peaceful rhythm of the sea make Amanohashidate not just a scenic spot, but a place that soothes the soul.
Basavaraj Y — Google review
Small town, very quiet. Everything is closed around 4pm. Taking the chairlift to see the amazing view of the famous sandbar. Rent a bike to bike across the park, make a few stops to take in the fresh ocean breeze and dip your feet in the cool water. Such a relaxing place to spend for a vacation. Highly recommended since it's only 2 hours train ride from Kyoto. However, that would take us away from the overly crowded city vibes of Kyoto.
H N — Google review
I went with my baby and toddler, absolutely worth the visit. We arrived at 2:30pm which is quite late for this location since the attractions close at 5pm. There is not enough time to enjoy and walk around the place if you arrive after 12pm. You can put your baby or toddler on your lap and ride the chair lift up the hill. We took a ride drom kyoto straight to amanohashidate station costing a fortune for 3 adults and 1 child reserved seats (36400 yen) round trip.
WW — Google review
I went for a day trip. I would like to say don’t double think about visiting the city, go there and don’t think about it. The city alone is amazing and calm for a walk. You will feel the peaceful vip on the street. There is a nice beach there so prepare for it if you wish to get wet. You can rent a bicycle and drive throw the island.
Ink — Google review
LOVED it, I very highly recommend going here. The views were amazing and there are many activities to do as well. There’s a tiny cafe for quick refreshments too. Definitely take the cable chair up and down, it’s safe and a great experience.
Sumedha S — Google review
A quaint little village of 15,000 people that must bulge at the seams in holiday times. We got the chair lift to the museumesque amusement park. Played around like kids. Took a stroll over the bridge to a beautiful beach and ended with a nice lunch.
Brett C — Google review
If you’re coming with your family and just want a relaxing walk to see a traditional Japanese village, this place is nice to visit. But for young and energetic couples, it might be a bit boring.

Amanohashidate Kasamatsu Park

Mentioned on

Park
Nature & Parks
Observation deck
Amanohashidate Kasamatsu Park offers a stunning panoramic view of a natural sand bar and pine trees from its sleek wooden observation deck. Visitors can reach the park by taking a chairlift or monorail from Amanohashidate Station. On the northern side, guests can enjoy the sight of boats sailing past while walking among beautiful pine trees before taking a cable car or chair lift to Kasamatsu Park.
Loved the place. So different from the cities. Quiet, quaint streets. Autumn colors made it even more beautiful. The boat ride on the lake was beautiful. With seagulls gliding above head. What was upsetting were the tourists feeding the gulls with crackers! The agency provided a lovely lunch. What a surprise.
Pam O — Google review
Amazing views! No need to spend $$ for the lift (though looks fun), it's easy stairs to walk up if you have the stamina. It closes at 5pm, and if you come later (for sunset) you might be completely alone.
Jakub T — Google review
It’s a long ride from Osaka, but it’s worth it. It’s beautiful and it’s much calmer than the city. The weather was so so, but we still enjoyed nice views and everything was well organised. I opted for the chair lift up and down, I believe you get a better view of the scenery. The observatory at the top is wonderful, and there is a restaurant up there but also many options down by the lift entrance. I also enjoyed going for a walk on the sandbank, it’s beautiful with all the pines and the water on both sides. If you can come, don’t miss the opportunity.
André M — Google review
Fun experience with an amazing view! Took the single chair ride to go up and down, the ride takes about 7 minutes and lets you relax and enjoy the environment around you. There is no seatbelt, so be careful if you are scared of heights! Once up at the platform, the view is stunning and you get multiple different platforms to take pictures on. There is also a clay throwing ring that you can give a try, but it is very hard to hit it. Overall, great experience for just 800 yen!
YooksTea — Google review
Breath taking scenery with good weather. Clear views of the whole area and also not too crowded perhaps because i went in the early morning.
Janice K — Google review
♡ Chair/Cable rides free unlimited for those with pass tickets ♡ Up on top, they have connected walk way up to the mountains and bus stop as well. With souvenir shop and small snack stalls. This government-operated park is less like an amusement type like the opposite one.
Pun N — Google review
Seems like less people come here and should visit both sides to see the different views. It’s beautiful both ways.
Paul Y — Google review
We loved this whole experience!! We enjoyed the chairlifts up and down to the Incredible observation deck! They have a cool gift shop and a few food places! You get to pose the Matanozoki!! We visited twice in two days!! Very fun 🤩 and beautiful place!

Theme park
Amanohashidate Viewland is a must-visit destination near Amanohashidate, offering convenient access to the seaside summit via monorail and chairlift. Visitors can enjoy classic theme park rides and breathtaking views of the sandbar from multiple viewing points. The facility also features an amusement center with fun activities for both children and adults.
So much fun!! well the admission cost did not come with any of the rides at the top of the hill, I really enjoyed the chairlift and had so much fun on that. I’d say you probably only need around 45 minutes to an hour here, but I did spend two hours just looking around even though it was small because it’s so beautiful.
Julia S — Google review
Had a great experience. It is a must visit place and you will be out of the world. Visit during summer for best experience of clear water swimming, beautiful sunset, illumination at night (after 7p.m) can carry tent but no barbecue. Take a chair lift while going & coming back to View land for best experience.
Rushikesh G — Google review
Good place to get the picture but nothing much I recommend for tourists. That picture is worth 1000 yen going up the mountain. If you enjoy small scale carnival style rides, you probably will spend more time there. They got puddin and some present you can buy, but that’s pretty much it. Pay attention to the monorail time table, it goes up specific interval and if you miss that you will need to wait 30-ish minutes for next. Of course you can choose the lift but folks might be afraid of such gondola style way up.
Frederick — Google review
We did a daytrip to Amanohashidate and Ine on our vacation in Osaka. We were blessed with good weather and the places we visited were not crowded that day. We rode the monorail up to the viewdeck and the chair lift going down. We had a family photo with the breathtaking view of the sandbar for a fee. My daughters also did the lucky pottery throwing. There were a lot of things to do at Viewland. Ride the cycle-car, view Amanohashidate upside down from between your legs, walk at the viewing sky path and some children activities. We really had fun. Please note and make sure to check the weather before you go on this trip so you will enjoy it more.
Travel T — Google review
Came here as part of our roadtrip around Japan. One of the wonder spots, and a very nice, little amusement park, clean, quiet and well priced, the chair lift was also really fun and nice to use. And the views were lovely!
Conor M — Google review
The sky lift was definitely an experience for me being scared of heights and no seatbelts lol. Beautiful view and cute things to do at the top such as peddling a coaster type bike, merry go round, shooting etc.
Lucid V — Google review
Viewland – A Cute Amusement Park with Amazing Views! What a great idea to have a mini amusement park at the top of a hill, where both kids and adults can enjoy themselves! It was so much fun that I completely missed seeing the sandbar… Guess I’ll just have to come back another time!
Shelby C — Google review
Great view, but the short cycle track was quite a scam. You can get the same type of views at the viewing platform. I loved the chair lift up to the Viewland though.

Chionji Temple

Chionji Temple is a serene and less crowded temple complex located near Amano-Hashidate in Kyoto. It is famous for its monthly flea market and features a massive wooden gateway and shrine. The temple enshrines the Buddha of wisdom and compassion, Manjushri, making it a place where people come to seek wisdom. The architecture of the temple is ancient and worth admiring, similar to many other renowned temples in Kyoto.
Very beautiful temple. Very small but the only one I saw that had like a 360° path around the prayer area. You Can also find 3 different stamps there (if you ibterested in callecting stamps). There was no queue to get the goshuin. It was 500¥. And the people could also speak a little bit English. It was very friendly and relaxing to walk around even with the amount of tourists
Isabelle B — Google review
This temple is at the southern end of Amanohashidate. The Legendary Dragon God Dance The annual festival of Manjusri Bodhisattva, which originates from the origins of the Nine Worlds. On the day of the festival, Manjusri Bodhisattva is unveiled to the public, and the evening begins with a votive dance and a large number of monks chant sutras (Manjushri Festival) will be held. In addition, a maritime picture scroll (Dragon Dance) and sea fireworks will light up the summer night sky.
Kam G — Google review
Chionji Temple is a Buddhist temple near the entrance of the Amanohashidate sandbar. People visit this temple to pray for academic success and to pass their exams. There is a two story pagoda on the temple ground and can be seen after entering the massive gate. This is also one of the places to see in Amanohashidate.
Travel T — Google review
Such a beautiful temple made even better which it's location so close to the water. If you're collecting stamps, this shrine has 3. (The cat one is located at the information centre).
Krystal R — Google review
Great historical Buddhist temple in Japan. Entrance gate "Sanmon" and Many-Jeweled Pagoda "Tahoto" are impressive!
Monk 1 — Google review
A quiet and less touristy temple away from the crowded Kyoto city. The architecture is ancient and worth appreciating as many other famous temple and shrine in Kyoto although it is not as huge.
Lee I — Google review
Beautiful temple with very good maintenance. Love it.
Henry S — Google review
A beautiful temple to explore when in Amanohashidate! 🏯🌲 There are charms to purchase, fans which are hung from the trees, stamps, temple cats, etc, etc,

Motoise Kono Shrine

Mentioned on
3 lists
Shinto shrine
Sights & Landmarks
Motoise Kono Jinja is a significant shrine complex located in the Tango region of northern Kyoto. It holds great historical and cultural importance, as it was once dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu Omikami before she was enshrined at Ise Jingu. The shrine features a variety of smaller shrines within its tree-lined gardens, each built in different architectural styles to honor various deities.
A beautiful shrine right by the boat pier. Definitely worth a walk to check this place out.
C N — Google review
Local religious center. It's shrine protecting the peninsula. Amazing amulet designs could be found here.
Jason H — Google review
Strange nighttime art exhibit at Japan's second most important shrine You couldn't pick a better spot for a shrine. Motoise Kono shrine is located on the Kasamatsu side of the Amanohashidate land bridge (not the train station side). If you walk across the 3.6km land bridge you'll be right at it. The name "Moto Ise" means "former Ise." The most famous shrine in Japan is the Ise Jingu Grand Shrine in Mie. And this one came before it, hence the "moto." In fact this area has two "moto Ise" shrines because Amaterasu (the Sun Goddess in Shintoism) started out in Amanohashidate, and worked her way south through Kyoto prefecture before eventually settling in the warmer climate of Mie (or so the story goes). This shrine is beautifully maintained and you can see the special 5-colors balls on the bannister around the shrine (distinct two only two shrines in Japan, this one and, yep you guessed it, Ise Jingu). While the shrine grounds aren't actually that big, it is in a convenient location and you can continue through to the quaint street behind it that leads to the cable car and chair lift for Kasamatsu Park. For people here without a car, all of this is really easily doable from Amanohashidate station. To get to Moto Ise Kono Shrine from Amanohashidate station you can walk the 50minutes across the land bridge, rent a bike (for only a few hundred yen) and get across quicker, or take a sightseeing boat (or 60-minute jet boat if you are in a hurry to get your shrine fix). The area is really fun. And if you plan on eating in the area, I highly recommend the restaurants on the Kasamatsu (Moto Ise Kono Shrine) side over the Amanohashidate Station side. I went at night during a special event that ran through the fall, where sound and visual artists layered some beautiful visuals over the Shrine and grounds and played ambient sounds. It made the whole place feel like it was underwater. Really cool. They tend to have night exhibitions in the summer and fall. If you go during that time, check out to see what's going on at night. The reason I gave this 4-stars instead of 5 is because, though the shrine is beautiful and the grounds are quite nice, it's not that expansive. I think if I was really into Shintoism, this would have been a deeper experience, but I still think it's worth 4-stars because there are lots of other things to do in the area as well, this is just one of the nice places to stop for a while.
Jesse E — Google review
Nice huge shrine. But no photos inside. We walked thru to take chair lift to the left of it.
Paul Y — Google review
The first shrine in Japan and that is why this the best power spot to bring luck. All the Gods are here in this shrine.
Kentaro M — Google review
Great Shinto shrine in Japan. Also known as Ichinomiya shrine of Tango province. This shrine has sacred atmosphere.
Monk 1 — Google review
Nice shrine and area. A lot of tourists visit here on the weekends.
Dr. T — Google review
Nice enough shrine. Nothing spectacular. No photos allowed inside main shrine for those who are interested

Nariaiji Temple

Mentioned on
3 lists
Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Nariaiji Temple is a historic Buddhist temple known for its observatory platform that provides stunning views of the Amanohashidate sandbar. The temple grounds are adorned with depictions of Shuten-doji, and visitors can marvel at the enshrined statues of red and blue oni in the main hall. Additionally, Nariaiji Temple houses sake bottles and cups linked to the legend of Shuten-doji.
Naraiji Temple is definitely worth a visit, packed with history and lots of interesting pockets of facts to discover, like the gates that leads to the temple that has various non-native animals carved into it which is unusual as well as the serene temple that also accepts handwritten sutra contributions for the building of new temple grounds! There is a shuttle bus from the tram station, and there will be a small 500 yen fee for entry. Enjoy the amazing views and peaceful environment while basking in the rich background of Naraiji Temple <3
James A — Google review
There's a dedicated mini bus ride to this temple on top of the mountain. It comes with a ticket bundle sold at the gate. It's worth the time if you're already up the hill cart enjoying the view. A peaceful corner away from the crowded tourists.
Jason H — Google review
A peaceful retreat that’s best for healing and finding peace! A must visit when visiting Kasamatsu park! Just make sure you take note of the bus schedule to and from the temple, because bus trips are limited, or you’ll walk 40 minutes back to Kasamatsu park.
Doyzkie B — Google review
Great historical Buddhist temple in Japan! The view of "Ama no Hashidate" is very impressive!!
Monk 1 — Google review
Beautiful serene temple complex with a gorgeous pagoda, in a forest on top on the mountain. There is a beautiful calm vibe up here, and amazing views from the lookout area. 500 yen per person entry.
Crina B — Google review
Took the bus up and have 40min before the last bus down, so I didn't manage to walk up to the observatory. It is a shrine at the top of the mountain at aminohashidate, where you get a vantage view. No photos are allowed in the shrine though.
Piano G — Google review
A nice temple with good views, but somehow not crawling with tourists. A very friendly old guy greeted us at the ticket gate. The drive up was a bit sketchy (maybe why it's very quiet compared to other locations around Amanohashidate).
Chris F — Google review
If you get the pass from the train station it will include the mountain bus to the temple. It's a quick ride and the temple is very impressive.

The area provides essential facilities such as change rooms, warm water showers, toilets, first aid room, and cafes. A beautiful path surrounded by green/blue pines offers an enjoyable walk with informative boards along the way.
We went here during the summer and it was not to crowded at that time. The view is from the beach is pretty magnificent and like all the place in Japan it is very clean and well maintained. it just a 5 minutes walk from the amanohashidate station.

Very nice, sandy beach! The weather around this time of the year is still suitable for swimming and the water was very warm. Sadly lost my ring in the water :( If anyone finds a Jujutsu Kaisen Nanami ring there, please let me know, i am very sad about it :(( A lot of fish, they will swarm at your feet!
YooksTea — Google review
Great place to visit - but very touristy. The water under the bridges getting to the sand islands is crystal clear - stupid signs saying dont swim there! Same on the beaches - danger rocks! Hmmmm....very risk adverse... pity as it is a very scenic spot.
Johninjapan — Google review
Almost crying 😢 Swimming is dangerous. It's better to pitch a tent. The clouds and sky are so pretty~
Platinum G — Google review
This has become my new favorite beach in Kansai and let me tell you why: 1. Plenty of toilets that also function as changing rooms 2. Free showers 3. Garbage bins that are regularly maintained 4. Pine trees that shade you from the heat 5. Beautiful blue-green waters As a long-time resident of Osaka and Hyogo, I have always been on the lookout for beaches I can easily get to using public transportation. Suma Beach in Kobe has earned its reputation as a “dirty” beach littered with cans of beer and all the mess that comes with beach-goers. The nearby Asagiri Beach in Hyogo is quite nicer and also accessible by train, but it is relatively quite exposed to the heat of the sun. Showers are also coin-operated ones. Takeno Beach in Hyogo is easy to get to if you take the express train, but from the station it is about 15-20 minutes on foot. The beachfront is also exposed. To get shade from the seasonally operated rest houses, you have to pay 800 yen. Showers are also paid for. The water here is the cleanest and the sand the finest at least in the Hyogo area. Now, the water in Amanohashidate Beach is not as clean, and an assortment of rocks will greet your feet in the water (I highly recommend aqua shoes!) But what makes this place so lovable is the availability and abundance of free facilities (showers, toilets, and natural shade from the well-maintained pine trees). When I tried jogging in the morning to catch the sunrise, I saw an old lady driving a small compact car collecting the trash from the bins and cleaning the toilets. It is also quite close to the nearest station, onsen (Chie-no-yu and Amanohashidate Hotel), tourist information center, and bus stop. And if you’re done swimming, you can enjoy a quick and easy run amongst the pine trees. There are temples, shrines, and observation decks. There is also a turning bridge (the first of its kind that I have ever seen so far) that makes way for tour boats that come and go.
Jendell K — Google review
One of the best views in my Japan trip. The town is very charming.
Karla U — Google review
Beautiful path surrounded by "Aomatsu" (green/blue pines). It's worth a little walk even if you don't cross it. There are many boards with interesting information, please take a look at them! I don't know if it's a beach where you can have a bath, but the day I went, it didn't look like so, which is a shame! Don't forget to visit the Amanohashidate shrine, like I did...

Wineries & Vineyards
Amanohashidate Winery is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. The winery offers a youthful yet well-crafted selection of wines with a perfect balance of freshness and acidity. Situated between Amanohashidate and Ine, the winery boasts a stunning location overlooking vineyards and the bay. Visitors can enjoy complimentary use of the patio with tables and chairs while sampling their diverse wine selection, including exclusive vineyard varieties.
Anyone who loves their wine, should pay this place a visit! They do have a vineyard and makes their wine at location! Was fortunate to be here in Autumn to purchase their new wine which was released in 2023 - Akane Blush. It falls between dry and sweet which makes it easy to drink! Also had vanilla soft serve. Yup, there's only one flavour here folks! Gotta eat it despite the 12 degrees celsius weather!
Brandon Y — Google review
What better way to enjoy your wine than drinking it while enjoying the view of the absolutely gorgeous nature around you Since driving is impossible afterwards, I recommend biking to the other end of the Amanohashidate station and then taking a ferry back
Coffeetoast — Google review
TLDR; Wine is youthful but well made with nice freshness and acidity balance. Essential stop on the road between amano and ine. Its incomprehensible to me why this place is not full of five star reviews. There is literally nothing not to like: Gorgeous location overlooking the vineyards and bay. Free to use patio with tables and chairs. No admission fee or anything like that A good selection of their wines, including some vineyard exclusives, for 100-200 yen a sample. Extremely inexpensive, delicious white wine soft serve. Chance to try some Japanese grape varieties you won’t find elsewhere. Attached restaurant with amazing panoramic views Etc etc etc

The location is mesmerising and lunch buffet is amazing, I would highly recommend! *But* for a winery the wines do not reach their mark! The wife and I ordered two rose wines and two reds to enjoy with our lunch. Unfortunately the flavours where not as expected.

This winery has really good wines, unfortunately they stopped doing wine tasting. The location is quite far from the nearest train station. Recommended for people with car or people who can bike there

大衆食堂 富田屋

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Tondaya is a lively restaurant located in the small town of Miyazu, offering a variety of dishes at reasonable prices. The menu includes fresh seafood, with special mentions for the sashimi and grill hiramasa. Despite some mixed reviews about service, it's known for its excellent customer service and English-translated menu. Visitors recommend trying the hotpots during winter and appreciate the restaurant's local Japanese style. However, be prepared for long lines and limited parking.
Very delicious food and very friendly staff! Absolutely worth a visit. Good pricing.
Rico S — Google review
This izakaya-style restaurant has good food at reasonable prices. But they do not have an English menu and the daily specials are on the board. Hence, you need to be able to use google translate or have pictures to show what you want to order. We had the grilled beef with onions, crab soup, clams and squid. All were amazing with rice. Their sets were value for money too. The premises is small with wooden odd-shaped tables so that’s not very conducive for lingering. But it’s definitely a place to go have a good meal. Just opposite Miyazu train station.
Irene P — Google review
This restaurant is right outside Miyazu station. There seem to be no foreigners except us, which is a good thing. Do bear in mind that service is not the fastest due to the age of the staff so please treat them with care! The food was really good though! Would recommend the yakiniku set meal, which came with pickles and soup.
X W — Google review
This is probably the most value for money and well patronized restaurant in the whole of Miyazu. Free flow of hot tea. Unagi rice bowl 👍 Stir fried chicken liver 👍 Fish in soy sauce 👍 Tempura rice bowl 👍 Crispy and just fried. Assorted sashimi 👍 Undon soup 👍 Lots of onions and soup was very fragrant. Katsu rice 🫲 Unusual that they served it with tomato sauce but nevertheless delicious. Beef rice bowl 🫲 Too much fat meat. Curry rice 🫲 Very fragrant curry but too little meat. Toufu soup 🫲 Yakiniku rice bowl 🫲 Some meat was charred.
Victor N — Google review
Local izakaya restaurant with very warm and comfy decoration. Food is nice and reasonably priced. Definitely will visit again! Recommend to come in before 6pm and make reservation. Parking is convenient as opposite the street.
William O — Google review
Food was nice, service a bit soso. I understand maybe the people from the country side is a bit more impatient when you don’t know what to chose but in corona times service staff shut be more easy going on my opinion. All the fish we tasted was very nice, special mention to the sashimi and the grill hiramasa. Price are moderate. I may come back on the winter time for the hotpots.

It is the only lively place in the small, quiet town of Miyazu. You can enjoy a variety of dishes at very reasonable prices. It's a great restaurant for a light lunch or dinner with drinks. It's a restaurant I'd like to go to again, with excellent customer service, good taste, and reasonable prices.

It was the only restaurant open that was close to the station. We had to wait for more than half an hour, but the food was overall delicious, so it was worth the wait. Everyone in our group was satisfied with their orders. The place has a nostalgic vibe ( it feels like you were in an old Japanese movie) .

Hashidate Chaya

Restaurant
Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant
Soba noodle shop
Hashidate Chaya offers a unique outdoor dining experience with charcoal grills provided for guests to cook their own food. The menu features fresh and delicious options, including great oysters and a delightful crab rice soup perfect for the chilly season. The friendly staff are on hand to assist with opening oysters, and the restaurant provides a pleasant atmosphere where diners can enjoy the sound of waves while savoring their meals.
We stopped by a restaurant, Hashidate Chaya, and deduced that clams might be the local specialty, so we all opted for clam udon. We counted them; each of us had 11 clams, the soup was super fresh and umami but I thought the udon wasn't as good as those I had before in Kyoto and Osaka.

I’m not really a clam person and was unsure if I could stomach it, but I got the no 1 the clam on rice set with soup, seaweed, pickles, & soba. Oh it was really good!!! Then I later ate the sausage (frank) and that was delicious! The matcha cream was smooth and yummy too!!

It was announced that the store would open at 10 o'clock, but the store was closed because it was the off-season. After taking a walk around Amanohashida, I was able to have a meal around 10:30. The local food, Asari Don (clam rice bowl), was warm and very flavorful. I was able to have a delicious meal at a reasonable price. The female waitress was very friendly, but the male waiter's attitude towards customers, who seemed to be throwing food, was very disappointing.

Outside dinning experience with grill. They provided the charcoal grill for you and you just go pick/order your food at the counter +pay there. The food is fresh most of the things are good and tasty except soba noodle. The oysters was great with grill. If you don’t know how to open it, the restaurant could do it for you. The price is not bad but not cheap, still affordable.
Naree S — Google review
It's famous for the Asari don but honestly it's overpriced and not good. The lala clams (Asari) were not strong in flavour making the don a very mild taste. I would recommend the things that you can barbeque! We had the chance to barbeque it ourselves but not sure if it's the same for everyone as we were the only customers there. The barbeque ingredients were good and fresh. Also the place seemed smaller than the pictures in Google maps. (Not a knock on it)

Kujikara Ramen

Permanently Closed
$$$$affordable
Ramen restaurant
Kujikara Ramen is an adorable local noodle shop that offers a mouthwatering and concentrated soup. Unlike traditional ramen, their noodles are thick and straight rather than curly. The restaurant's convenient location near other shops, the parking area, and the entrance to Amanohashidate makes it an ideal lunch spot for those in the area. However, be prepared for crowds during peak hours as the small space tends to fill up quickly.
Both the pork and chicken ramen options are absolutely delicious, and incredibly good value for money. You can either sit outside or in the little dining room upstairs.

I had the sushi and kaiseki set for lunch. It's more voluminous than it looks, which was perfect for me as a man, but it might seem too voluminous for older women. However, all of the dishes were delicately and carefully prepared to bring out the flavor of the ingredients themselves, and the taste was elegant and gentle, so I think I was able to finish all of the dishes. 310 Amanohashidate

$$$$affordable
Japanese restaurant
The restaurant 310 Amanohashidate in Amanohashidate offers exquisite gourmet cuisine at affordable prices. Its unique selling point is being one of the few places open for dinner after 5 pm in town. The establishment, owned by a couple, impresses customers with its impeccable presentation, delectable flavors, and charming atmosphere. Visitors are highly encouraged to try this restaurant when in the area as it provides a truly delightful dining experience.
Tucked away in the quiet charm of Amanohashidate, 310 was an unexpected highlight of our trip. We managed to secure a table for the same evening simply by dropping in just 10 minutes before their 6:00 PM opening — a lucky stroke that set the tone for a memorable night. The meal began with a beautifully presented amuse-bouche: fried eggplant topped with miso alongside a small bite of minced pork — simple yet full of depth. Next came a duo of handmade dim sum — duck and squid — delicate and silky in texture. While masterfully crafted, I found myself wishing for a touch of acidity to brighten the flavors and offer that familiar balance so often found in Asian cuisine. We continued with steamed seasonal vegetables, paired with a savory and well-balanced bagna cauda, followed by a flavorful pork rillette served with freshly baked house bread — rich, rustic, and immensely satisfying. The finale? Japanese BBQ pork ribs that were fall-off-the-bone tender, glazed with a sauce that struck just the right chord between smoky and sweet. What truly left a lasting impression, though, was the restaurant's atmosphere — minimalist, warm, and quietly elegant. It's rare to find such attention to detail and culinary ambition in such a secluded area. The couple behind this venture clearly has both passion and talent; I look forward to seeing how they grow in the years to come. Bravo — and keep going. P.S. The ceramicware, all handmade by a small Kyoto artisan, added a beautiful and thoughtful finishing touch.

We stumbled upon this cozy gem during our Amanohashidate visit while on an Osaka trip, and ended up dining here thanks to our evening train schedule. The restaurant opens at 6pm, and we were their first customer—partly because we were a bit nervous about catching our 7:05pm train. The menu mentioned that food takes at least 30 minutes to prepare, but we decided to try our luck. To our surprise and relief, all our dishes were served right on time, and we made it to the station without rushing. Most importantly—the food was absolutely worth it. We had the assorted sashimi, steamed fish with sake and garlic, and grilled pork spareribs with Japanese BBQ sauce. Every ingredient was fresh, and the seasoning was perfectly balanced. You can truly taste the heart and soul in every dish—simple ingredients, cooked with sincerity and skill. If I ever come back to Amanohashidate, I’ll definitely return to this restaurant.

310 is a hidden gem, owned and operated by a talented chef and her husband. The care and passion they put into the food and atmosphere truly shine through. While the restaurant did get a little busy for a staff of two, the service remained warm and attentive, and it added to the cozy, personal feel of the place. The food was excellent across the board—I tried a wide variety of dishes and loved every one. Highlights included the seasonal vegetables salad, homemade pickles, potato salad, and the namul avocado with salted kelp, all bursting with freshness and flavor. The fried spring rolls with shrimp and blue cheese were unique and delicious, while the steamed vegetables with heshiko bagna cauda showcased a creative twist. Other standouts were the shumai, perfectly crispy fried chicken wings, and the comforting deep-fried tofu in dashi soup. The kakuni was rich and tender, and the grilled fish rounded out the meal beautifully. Overall, 310 delivers a truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a thoughtful, chef-driven restaurant with heart.

The cuisine is a modern take on local dishes, reimagined in a more progressive way. You’ll still find classics like dumplings or spicy chicken, but they’re served with a fresh twist. Portions are European-sized, which is a nice change if you’re used to smaller plates in Japan. Also worth mentioning, the staff speaks English really well, which makes the whole experience even smoother.

Amanohashidate Ama Terrace

The Amanohashidate Ama Terrace restaurant is conveniently situated in Kasamatsu Park, accessible via a cable car lift. Its first floor accommodates the Amaterasu café, where visitors can relish light meals like hamburgers and dumplings while enjoying the breathtaking view through its glass windows. Guests can also browse through the souvenir shop on this level. Although some may find the menu selection limited, the overall taste of their dishes is highly enjoyable.
The only restaurant located at the top of the cable car ride. Place is clean, comfortable and service was great! The old folks working the place were really friendly and welcoming :) Food was top notch as well. Had the black curry myself and the burger steak was juicy <3 The other food options did not disappoint as well; the sashimi and ebi curry options were all of quality and very enjoyable. At each table there is a small fortune telling machine you can play for 100 yen. Its pretty fun and just for laughs but it was quite accurate for me on some areas so that's cool. The view is without a doubt one of the nicer ones of the area with the addition of the comfort of aircon and shelter from the weather. Come support AmaTerrace and enjoy a good lunch here!

Udon Perfection, no exaggeration. Food 5-stars, location 5-stars, price 5-stars. Suginoya's udon is famous in Japan, especially their black chikuwa tempura udon set. To give an example of how popular it is: I went for lunch on a Wednesday in mid-February during the "state of emergency." I arrived at 12:50 and snagged the very last order of black chikuwa. Even on a weekday in February Suginoya sold out of their signature dish by 1 p.m. And it was incredible. Everything is locally made. The chef trained in the udon mecca of Japan and came back to Amanohashidate to pair his udon skills with the local black chikuwa (the chikuwa/mochi and udon set is a big deal in Japan). The tempura was among the best I've had, and came with two long slices of black chikuwa, two pieces of mochi tempura, and one piece of chicken tempura. The volume of food was almost too much for me, and the price was an unbelievably cheap 900 yen, especially considering that this udon is praised by udon connoisseurs and chefs across the country. I am someone who usually prefers soba to udon, but this udon was flawless. Suginoya is a must-go restaurant, and I didn't even mention the fact that it's location is impeccable, located on the far side of one of Japan's Three Scenic Views, Amanohashidate, as well as a short stroll from Moto Ise Kono Shrine and the Kasamatsu Park cable car (that will also take you to Nariaiji Temple).

(Translated by Google) Visited around 12:00 on Sunday during Golden Week. I was prepared for the restaurant to be full, but I was able to enter without having to wait. I was guided to a seat on the second floor and sat down. The female clerk immediately brought water and towels. I had decided to order in advance based on information online, so I ordered right away and the food came out in about 10 minutes. I ordered the omelet rice happy set, and I thought it would be a decent amount considering the price of 1,500 yen, but I was surprised that the omelet rice was much smaller than I expected and the amount was comparable to a child's lunch. The taste is as expected and I think it's worth the price. The B set that my wife ordered was a decent amount and seemed worth the price. For the same price of 1,500 yen, I think the B set is better value for money. There were already customers waiting around the time we were eating. Perhaps because it was getting busy, the staff on the second floor started to show a bit of an arrogant attitude...they hurriedly cleared away the empty plates of groups still eating and served them, and asked customers who had come to the second floor seats, ``Did you ask me to go downstairs?'' ” I called the extension over and over again to check, and I guess it didn’t feel good to be around for a while. ? Also, the parking lot is small and quite difficult to park, so when we left the parking lot, the person parked next to us couldn't get out, so they waited for us to come out, and the customers had to move their cars while leaving. If you are coming to the store by car, we recommend a light vehicle. Please note that these are just my personal opinions and impressions.

There are seats on the first floor, so I'm sure they will be considerate. It seems that they offer a limited number of service sets at lunchtime. It seemed to have reached the limit when I visited, so I ordered the Happy Set. Happy Set ¥1,500- After-meal coffee is only iced, but +¥100- Payment is ¥1,600 including tax- Contents of the Happy Set -Hamburg steak (safe and high quality with no doping of meat juice) -Adult spaghetti with demi-glace sauce -Sliced ham -Fried shrimp with tartar sauce -Omurice with plenty of ketchup -Fukujinzuke is nostalgic -Salad (shredded cabbage, mashed potatoes, sliced cucumber, tomato) is a light palate cleanser Each dish was delicious, so I wished I had some rice to cleanse my palate. But the amount was satisfactory! Thank you for the meal. At the register, the cashier offered me some candy and an unlimited point card, and I was touched by the way they wanted to provide as much service as possible ❤️.

(Translated by Google) I stopped by while on a tour. If you're driving to the restaurant, the road just ahead is narrow, so you might wonder if you're really on the right road. There's a monthly parking lot next to the restaurant with space for five cars. The restaurant is blazingly air-conditioned, making you feel rejuvenated! lol In these days of eco-friendliness, many restaurants are setting the temperature higher, but I'm grateful for the temperature setting, which helped to revitalize my body after feeling faint from the heat! (I won't say what temperature it was, but it was a pretty bold setting! 👍) The restaurant's exterior has a nostalgic feel to it, which really raised my expectations! I went there just before noon on a weekday, and there were no customers yet. I thought maybe it wasn't that popular, but I was shown to the second floor, and it quickly filled up and there were customers waiting, so I recommend going early. The menu overall has a classic Western-style feel, making it hard to decide what to choose. 🤤 I ordered the Omurice Happy Set. The omurice has a nostalgic flavor, with old-fashioned ketchup rice wrapped in a thinly fried omelet. The hamburger steak seemed like a side dish, but it was incredibly soft and delicious! I'm a big eater, so I would have liked a larger portion, but my friend seemed satisfied with the portion. The interior is a cross between a coffee shop and a restaurant, but it feels like there are more seats inside than it looks from the outside. The staff were very friendly, and I enjoyed my meal! Maybe it's just me, but I recommend the window seats up the stairs to the second floor, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the building across the street!

The customer service is with a smile, but before they finish their food, they guide the next waiting customer to the side of the table where the customers are eating, and as soon as a seat becomes available, they will guide the next customer. announced. The tongue stew was not soft and you could not cut it with a knife without some force, but when I put it in my mouth it was not as hard or stringy as I expected. I ordered tongue stew as a single item with B lunch, but to be honest, the taste was different from my preference. I think the service lunch price of 800 yen is a good deal. Even if the taste is different from your preference, the price is reasonable and it's probably the best. I think so. I had the daily lunch special. The presentation was outstanding. I thought the price was reasonable too, so I ordered it. Hmmmm... The omelet rice and the accompanying spaghetti were a bit disappointing?? I prefer the frozen omelet rice from the co-op. For the food alone, I'd give it two stars, but for the atmosphere and appearance, I'd give it three stars in total... I don't think I'll be visiting again. Udon noodle restaurant
Went to the shop as our last lunch in Miyazu before returning to Osaka and it was awesome. The udon, soup and ingredients are all delicious!

Their udon is made in house. Very freshly made and yummy udon. We ordered Niku Udon and Miso Nabe (added extra beef) the soup of Niku udon is so refreshing and delicious. The nabe is also very unique, different from we have eaten but very authentically delicious. This meal really made our day. The staffs were also very helpful and friendly.

The best zaru udon, homemade. Tempura are great, big and well garnished. The soup is delicious also. Veggies are tasty and fresh. Recommend 100%!!

The atmosphere was nice. They gave us tea when we walked in to warm up our hearts. The udon was very tasty. We got the vegetable tempura, black vinegar, egg and chicken udon. All great options!

Amazing food recommended by some of the residents. Kind staff and English menu available though we have been advised about limited seating and hours.

(Translated by Google) There were about three groups waiting when the restaurant opened just before 11:00. It seems like it's best to go right when it opens. I ordered a simple Shishiko Udon. They were very efficient, so my food came surprisingly quickly. The broth was really delicious. I'd love to come again 😊 (Original) 11:00前のオープンには3組くらい待ちがありました。 オープンを狙う方が良さそうです。 シンプルにしっぽくうどんを注文。 手際もいいので案外すぐきました。 出汁がとっても美味しかったです。 また来たいと思います😊

(Translated by Google) 25.10Revisited after a long time. I ordered chilled vegetable tempura. I realized later that I had ordered the same thing as before. My memory is deteriorating rapidly. I feel so pathetic. The tempura was crispy and fragrant, with the savory smell of oil tickling my nose. You can eat it as is, or dunk it in the cold soup. You can savor the deliciousness of tempura both ways. Of course, the udon and broth were a great match, and the combination of the noodles and broth was exquisite. I was able to enjoy the same delicious udon as before. Thank you for the meal. I'll come again. I ordered a bowl with kakiage (tempura). The batter was crispy and the meat was firm and juicy. The broth was clean, and the chewy noodles clung to it just right. However, as it's a popular restaurant, it can fill up depending on the time of day, so it's best to arrive early. It's easy to drop in on while sightseeing, and it's a restaurant you'll want to visit again and again. Osaka Itami Airport

International airport
Osaka International Airport is a hub for domestic flights and offers convenient rail service to Kyoto, Kobe, and other areas in Osaka. Nearby accommodations include Guest House Yadomaru, located just 500 meters from Tempozan Ferris Wheel, and Hotel Royal Classic Osaka in the city center. The airport provides easy access via monorail with clean facilities, fast internet, diverse shopping options, and a variety of dining choices available for travelers.
I was really impressed with Osaka airport in Tokyo, also known as Itami airport for its service, shopping, and decor. From its cute airplane mascot stuffed animals to the colourful moss mural, it brought life to the airport, which can be cold and lifeless. The shopping had interesting stores with great gift option, wonderful food, including soul satisfying noodle soup and ramen, to lovely treats. Gaming chairs at long tables and the sheer variety of seating and tables options was also a lovely touch and greatly appreciated. I was also shocked to see staff physically catching the luggage on the conveyor belt so the bags didn’t drop and get damaged. A woman was there right away when the conveyor belt started and caught the bags until another associate came to take over. That just doesn’t happen nowadays and it shows how much the staff cares. I also appreciated the Halloween decorations and the real plants that made the airport a living place. The Itami airport is not just a place to get on a plane, but a lovely way to explore and experience Japan as well!

Check in and baggage drop-off was a breeze. It is empty. Security was really fast with no line ups. Lots of food options and seating. Washrooms very clean. Faculties for kids and babies.

Convenient for the north side of Osaka, compact, clean, efficient. In fun facts, although the airport retains the “international” in its name, it serves only domestic routes. And Itami is of course in Hyogo rather than Osaka; the airport is on the border and has land in both jurisdictions. Competes with the bullet train.
Timothy P — Google review
It is one of the safest and cleanest domestic airports in Japan. Although it may have physical limitations and selected food and souvenir items, its restaurants and restrooms are good enough to ease the burdens of long travel. We look forward to flying in more domestic flights in the future.

We fly from Itami airport to Narita airport. The check in and luggage process were smooth and good, JAL counters were in North gate. There are some shops and restaurants before and after the security check. Very convenient and not so crowded. Plenty of sitting area to have some snacks from vending machines and souvenir shops. Access to Itami airport is quite easy and convenient. We use Midosuji subway to Senri-Chuo and change to Osaka Monorail. Hassle-free and all within 1000 yen.
