Lincoln Memorial

Monument
Sights & Landmarks
The Lincoln Memorial, a tribute to Abraham Lincoln, was designed by architect Henry Bacon after the Parthenon in Greece. The 36 exterior columns represent the states in the Union at the time of Lincoln's death, with their names inscribed above them. Inside, a towering statue of Lincoln is flanked by chambers honoring his famous speeches. Located on the west side of the Tidal Basin, it stands opposite the Jefferson and Roosevelt Memorials.
The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is one of the most inspiring and memorable landmarks I have ever visited. The moment you arrive, the scale and presence of the monument immediately capture your attention. Abraham Lincoln’s massive seated statue feels larger than life, not just in size but also in meaning. It is a place that reminds you of the struggles and triumphs that shaped America and the vision of one of its greatest leaders. The memorial’s architecture is stunning, with tall white marble columns surrounding the statue. On the walls, you can find inscriptions of Lincoln’s most famous speeches, including the Gettysburg Address and the Second Inaugural Address. Reading these words while standing in front of the monument is a powerful experience, filled with history, reflection, and inspiration. From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, the view is simply breathtaking. The Reflecting Pool stretches out gracefully toward the Washington Monument, creating one of the most iconic and photographed scenes in the entire city. Visiting during sunrise or sunset adds a magical glow to the experience and makes it even more unforgettable. What stood out most to me was the peaceful and respectful atmosphere. Visitors from all over the world gather here, and yet there is a shared sense of quiet admiration. It is a place to pause, reflect, and appreciate the values of freedom, unity, and equality that Lincoln dedicated his life to. A must-visit in Washington, D.C., the Lincoln Memorial truly leaves a lasting impression.

Obviously a must see if you're visiting DC! I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty crowded but people were being very respectful and waiting for others to finish to take their pictures. When you get to the top you can see all the way down the National Mall which is great. Unfortunately the bookstore was closed due to the government shutdown, but still fun to check out!
Maggie T — Google review
A great place to honor our former president. You will never understand how big it is until to get to the bottom. The best time to visit is close to sunset when the sky is pretty and you can see the full reflection of the Washington monument with amazing colors in the sky. The addition of the ramp although blocks the view from the front, is a good addition for those with strollers.
Ajimon T — Google review
The Lincoln Memorial is stunning especially at sunset. I didn’t realize how close all the monuments were to each other until I visited; everything is just a short, scenic walk away. As I made my way from the Thomas Jefferson or Washington Memorial to the Lincoln, I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever experienced. The way the light hit the reflecting pool and the memorial itself was just perfect peaceful, powerful, and unforgettable.
Rachel F — Google review
Lincoln Memorial The Lincoln Memorial is one of the most awe-inspiring landmarks in Washington, D.C., and a place that never fails to leave a deep impression no matter how many times you visit. Standing at the base of the monument and looking up at the towering statue of President Abraham Lincoln, you can truly feel the weight of history and the ideals he represented — unity, equality, and freedom. The craftsmanship is remarkable; the marble gleams beautifully in the sunlight during the day and takes on a serene glow under the lights at night. The entire site is impeccably maintained, and the setting along the Reflecting Pool makes it even more breathtaking. Watching the Washington Monument’s reflection shimmer in the water, especially at sunset, is a sight that captures the very spirit of America. The memorial’s inscriptions — the Gettysburg Address and Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address — are powerful reminders of the enduring importance of words in shaping a nation’s conscience. The atmosphere is peaceful yet profoundly moving. Tourists, students, and locals all stand together in quiet respect, taking in both the grandeur and the solemnity. Visiting the Lincoln Memorial is not just sightseeing — it’s an experience of reflection, gratitude, and inspiration that every visitor to D.C. should have at least once.

We did the tour around the city for 2 days bc we were in town. The 2nd day we ended up with a great driver who took time to tell us alot of historical info and made her stories worthy of us to.lidten to every detail! The first day we were getting off and on the tour bus so we had several different drivers, some were better than others is the reason for 3 stars...overall for 2ndays

I was visiting on a work trip and wanted to see more of D.C. My friends and I booked a 2.5 hour tour with the hop on hop off bus available at the Washington Welcome Center near Ford's theater. At night they do a moonlight monuments tour that is not hop on/off. The tour was great and our guide Bill was engaging and knowledgeable. This tour is the only one allowed on Capitol Hill and with no traffic we had the best access and views. We saw too many monuments to list out. I would totally go again.
Brett M — Google review
The Lincoln Memorial is one of Washington, D.C.’s most recognized landmarks, honoring Abraham Lincoln with an impressive structure at the end of the National Mall. It connects easily to nearby attractions such as the Reflecting Pool, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and Korean War Veterans Memorial, making it convenient to include in a day of sightseeing. The memorial is open 24/7 and especially striking when illuminated at night. It can be crowded during peak hours, but the space remains respectful and accessible, offering good opportunities to take in the views and history.

Museums
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum is a fascinating destination that delves into the history of aviation and space exploration. The museum showcases an array of vehicles and artifacts, including the original Wright 1903 Flyer, the 'Spirit of St. Louis,' and the Apollo 11 command module.
This museum is absolutely incredible! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The exhibits about space, particularly the Apollo 11 exhibit, were truly awesome. The Wright Brothers exhibit was incredibly inspiring, and the sheer number of gadgets, artifacts, and planes on display was mind-blowing. When we visited, a significant portion of the museum was closed due to ongoing renovations for new exhibits. However, the overall experience was still enjoyable. I can’t wait to be back to explore the rest of the museum. The gift shop is enormous and offers a wide range of fascinating items for space enthusiasts. While tickets are free, I highly recommend purchasing them in advance, but be aware that you’ll have to wait in line until your time slot. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit!
Adriana P — Google review
The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is an absolute must-visit in DC and it is free. The exhibits are incredible and there’s something for everyone, whether you’re into aviation history, space exploration, or just want to see real rockets, moon landers, and fighter jets up close. I loved how interactive and well-organized everything was. You can walk through the history of flight, see the Wright brothers’ early work, touch a piece of the moon, and check out modern NASA missions all in one place. The curation is top-notch and every display is thoughtfully done. Check out the IMAX theater inside. They play some really great 3D movies that are worth the experience, especially if you’re into space documentaries or science films. It adds a whole new layer to your visit. It can get a little crowded, especially on weekends, but totally worth it. Staff is friendly and the space is big enough to move around easily. Easily one of the highlights of my DC trip. Would go back to catch more shows and explore the rest.
Varun S — Google review
Wow! What an amazing museum!!! We’ve visited it a few times over the years. Our whole family has always enjoyed it at all ages, little kids, teenagers, and adults alike. There’s hands-on activities for younger kids, and informative displays for adults. We watched a film display and the toddlers next to us found it just as engaging as we did. This museum really is truly great for all ages, and we have found it fascinating after each new visit. We spent 3 hours here, and didn’t even see every display. There’s so much to do and to look at. The staff were so friendly and well-informed. We really enjoyed chatting with them. I’m so happy that we were able to visit. My one piece of advice is to book the free timed-entry tickets as far in advance as possible so that you get the chance to enjoy this amazing experience!

The National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC is one of the most inspiring and fascinating places I have ever visited. From the moment you step inside you can feel the excitement of human achievement and discovery. The museum captures the full story of flight and space exploration in a way that is both educational and deeply moving. Every exhibit is designed with care and attention to detail making it easy to understand how far we have come in just a little over a century of aviation. One of the most impressive parts of the museum is the collection of historic aircraft and spacecraft. Seeing the Wright brothers’ first flyer up close is an unforgettable experience. The Apollo 11 command module is another highlight that truly makes you appreciate the courage and vision of the astronauts who first set foot on the Moon. The exhibits on modern space missions and the future of exploration are equally inspiring and show how innovation continues to push the boundaries of what is possible. The museum is beautifully organized and free to enter which makes it accessible to everyone. The staff are friendly and always ready to answer questions. Whether you are a space enthusiast or simply curious about science and technology this museum will leave you feeling amazed and inspired. It is a place that celebrates human imagination and determination and it is absolutely worth visiting.

National Air and Space Museum – 5★ Google Review (200+ words) The National Air and Space Museum is easily one of the most fascinating and inspiring museums in Washington, D.C. Whether you’re a history buff, a science enthusiast, or simply curious about the story of human flight, this museum never disappoints. The exhibits are masterfully curated, tracing the incredible journey from the Wright brothers’ first flight to the modern age of space exploration. Seeing iconic artifacts like the Apollo 11 command module, the Spirit of St. Louis, and the lunar lander replica up close is nothing short of breathtaking. What makes the museum truly special is its ability to engage visitors of all ages. Interactive displays, flight simulators, and multimedia presentations make complex scientific ideas both accessible and exciting. Children are visibly captivated, while adults often find themselves lingering in awe at the depth of human innovation represented in every gallery. The recent renovations have added a fresh, modern touch, with improved lighting, clear signage, and new exhibits that blend technology and storytelling beautifully. The staff and volunteers are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about aviation history. Combined with free admission and a prime location on the National Mall, the National Air and Space Museum is a must-visit for anyone coming to D.C. It’s not just a museum — it’s a celebration of human imagination, courage, and discovery.

Great museum! If you love aviation you will love this place! They have many airplanes from 747s to DC-3s to a wright flyer. They even have an x wing hanging from the roof! Tons of cool information, including about space flight and space craft. Only complaint is that part of the museum was closed for construction, but it's understandable because they have to renovate it at some point. Get tickets online in advance! Would highly recommend this place!

My visit to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. was absolutely incredible! The exhibits are beautifully organized and full of fascinating details about the history of aviation and space exploration. Seeing the original spacecraft, jets, and satellites up close was truly awe-inspiring. The museum staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do, which made the experience even more engaging. It’s the perfect place for both adults and children to learn, dream, and be inspired by human ingenuity and discovery. I left feeling amazed and deeply grateful for the opportunity to explore such a world-class museum.

I went in late June and quite enjoyed my experience. If you are in the area, definitely visit. Unfortunately part of the museum was closed off and the lines were very long (but go incredibly fast). Gift shop is incredible. Exhibits are great, I liked the Northwest 747 the best. Definitely recommend checking out the Apollo Exhibit. I quite enjoyed my experience.

National Mall

Sights & Landmarks
The National Mall, a vast green space in the heart of Washington, DC, is a major attraction for visitors. It features iconic American landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, Capitol, Washington Monument, White House, FDR Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, WWII Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The area also houses premier Smithsonian Museums including the National Museum of African American History & Culture and the National Gallery of Art.
It was a beautiful day to tour the National Mall. You will be in awe of the magnificent views. The area is well designed. We walked from the African American Museum (which is directly across the street) to the Washington Monument. Then we strolled to the Lincoln Memorial. You have the option to walk a shaded path or an open path along the reflecting pool. Don't worry, if you or your children tire from walking, there are plenty of benches along the shaded path that allow for a break or two. We also saw people with blankets relaxing under the trees. The experience was both dreamlike and picturesque! ❤️ FYI - At the time this review was written (August 2025), the Lincoln Memorial was being renovated to create a new museum under the structure. As a result we were unable to walk around the porch of the temple. This made the accessible area (the main chamber) a bit crowded. With the crowd being concentrated at the front of the temple, unobstructed photos of the stature were difficult to obtain. However, this was not a deterrent for us. We enjoyed the experience nonetheless. 😊

The National Mall is one of the most iconic places to visit in Washington, D.C. Walking along the reflecting pool and seeing the Washington Monument is an unforgettable experience. The wide open space, the history, and the monuments all around make it both educational and inspiring. It’s perfect for walking, taking photos, and enjoying the atmosphere. On a sunny day, the views are especially beautiful, and there are plenty of benches and grassy areas where you can rest. It’s also easy to combine with visits to nearby museums and memorials. (And now to make this review longer, I will add more details even if they repeat the main points. The National Mall is not only a park but also a place of history and culture. You can see the Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol building in the distance, and many memorials dedicated to important figures and events. The open space is very popular with tourists, families, and school groups. Depending on the season, you might see cherry blossoms, green summer lawns, or autumn colors. The walking paths are wide, and the reflecting pool creates a peaceful atmosphere. Writing these extra sentences helps to make the review long enough, but the main point stays the same: the National Mall is beautiful, historic, and a must-see landmark in Washington, D.C.)

The National Mall is one of those places that really captures the heart of DC. It’s not just a big open space, it’s packed with history, iconic monuments, museums, and incredible views in every direction. Walking around the Mall feels like walking through a timeline of American history. From the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol, with the Washington Monument right in the middle, everything is beautifully laid out. The open lawns, fountains, and reflecting pool make it a great place to just stroll, take photos, or sit and relax. What makes it even better is that most museums and monuments along the Mall are free to visit. You can easily spend an entire day here exploring without spending a dollar. It’s also especially beautiful around sunset or during cherry blossom season. Definitely a must-see if you’re visiting DC. It’s peaceful, powerful, and full of stories.
Varun S — Google review
It’s definitely one of the best park in USA. All these Smithsonian museums are free. This is the effort that USA government shares knowledge to its people. African American museum is the latest one at the mall. Living memorial hall is a place to remind the human the progress and road to all men are equal. National mall is definitely worth of spending days.
Case H — Google review
We were in Washington DC during the shutdown, the mall was busy, but not overcrowded. The Memorials are a living tribute to our history and military. As a retired nurse I was touched by the bronze nurse statue. Be prepared with GOOD walking shoes!

Great place to spend your day. Lots to see. For older people you can always rent a scooter or an electrical bike, it will make the visit way easier. Make sure you download the apps : uber and veo.

This was such a wonderful place to visit. Lots of walking and wonderful history to look at and a few gift shops here and there.
Iris S — Google review
Loved walking the national mall when we did the museums and then the Washington Monument. If you are well organized and got advance tickets to go up in the obelisk, you have a great view of the surroundings (500 feet up) and can get your bearings easily. Be careful in the summer, it will get very hot along the reflecting pool. Stay in the shade

The Washington Monument is a towering obelisk located in the National Mall, serving as a tribute to George Washington, the first president of the United States. Standing as the world's tallest freestanding stone structure, it underwent construction challenges due to funding issues and political conflicts, resulting in a noticeable change in stone color partway up.
An awesome and wonderful place! It is peace , large and beautiful area. We visit there in the morning, afternoon and evening, it’s nice at anytime. It’s easy to get there, you can walk, rent a scooter or a e-bike…. You can sit there as long as you want , while there is windy in the fall and not crowded.

The Washington Monument is absolutely breathtaking and one of the most iconic landmarks in Washington, D.C. Standing tall in the heart of the National Mall, it offers not just a stunning view of the city but also a deep sense of history and pride. From the moment you approach it, the monument’s grandeur is striking — simple yet powerful, perfectly representing George Washington’s legacy. The area around it is beautifully maintained, with plenty of space to walk, relax, and take amazing photos. If you can, take the elevator ride to the top — the panoramic views of the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, and Reflecting Pool are unforgettable! Even if you don’t go up, just being there at sunrise or sunset is a magical experience. It’s more than just a monument — it’s a symbol of unity, freedom, and the nation’s beginnings. Truly a must-visit for anyone exploring Washington.

I had just picked up my friend from Germany from the airport, and we decided to spend the day visiting all the monuments. Standing at the Washington Monument was such an amazing experience the history, the views, and the feeling of being right in the heart of D.C. made it so special. As someone who lives only about three and a half hours away, I can’t believe I waited this long to do it. It really made me appreciate how incredible our nation’s capital is. Better late than never! 🇺🇸✨

Awesome experience. Who knew you could go inside and up to the top in an elevator? This iconic DC monunent to George Washington is beautiful. Rich in history and all around awesome. Plus the park rangers here rock!!! Couldn't be nicer AND....Irs FREE! We got same day tickets for 1.5 hours after we booked. But I recommend reserving in advance.

The Washington Monument is definitely one of the most awesome landmarks in Washington, D.C. It’s super tall and stands right in the center of everything, so you can see it from almost anywhere on the National Mall. When you walk up close, you really notice how massive it is and how detailed the stonework looks. It’s even cooler when you think about how it was built such a long time ago to honor George Washington. If you get the chance to go up to the top, the view is incredible, you can see the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, and even the White House from up there. At night, when it’s all lit up, it looks amazing reflecting in the water. The whole area around it feels peaceful, and it’s a great place to just hang out or take pictures. seeing it in person is definitely an experience you won’t forget.
Tom — Google review
This monument is located in the middle of the Washington mall park. There are beautiful views from here on both sides. On a clear day it’s a beautiful view of the Lincoln Memorial while on the Northern side you get a view of White House, on the southern side it’s Jefferson Memorial and on the western end it’s a view of the Capitol Building. There is paid street parking available on all sides of the monument, and is almost a 7 minute walk in each direction. A really nice and must visit monument in Washington DC.
Avais S — Google review
Part of the national mall. Such a beautiful area on a nice day and a wonderful free party of the town to visit. Parking is street parking and not easily found, so please be prepared if on a weekend or around rush hour. No cost to visit and you are able to walk to other monuments easily from this one.

It is always nice to see this amazing piece of architecture. The best view is definitely from the lincoln memorial at sunset when you see the full reflection amidst the cotton candy colors in the sky. It is possible to also purchase tickets in advance and go all the way to the top - i did not do it this time around.

Sights & Landmarks
Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA is a vast military cemetery that holds great historical significance. It features the eternal flame at JFK's gravesite, the Memorial Amphitheater, and the Tomb of the Unknowns. The cemetery serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals in service to their nation. Visitors can also explore other notable attractions in Washington, DC such as the White House, Smithsonian Museums, National Archives, and National Zoo.
No single quote encapsulates the beauty of Arlington better than JFK's "This is one of the really beautiful places on earth. I could stay here forever." The cemetery is truly remarkable and is a must see if you visit DC. The highlights of course are the JFK gravesite and the tomb of the unknown soldier, but spend some time soaking exploring and remembering those who died for this country.

Absolutely amazing experience! Used the old town trolly tram tour for Arlington cemetery and it was definitely worth it to get the history and location of key figures. The children (12&7) enjoyed the interaction with the tour guide and seeing the traditions. Changing of the guard was a must see and experience. The property is obviously well maintained and cared for.

Honored and humbled to walk among the headstones of those who served for my freedom. The changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier should be seen by all Americans, what a sacrifice and the dedication is amazing.

Words do not do justice to the emotions one feels walking through Arlington. Watching the Old Guard stand sentry over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is an absolute honor given to the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we have today.

Visiting Arlington National Cemetery is a deeply humbling experience — a place where silence speaks of courage, sacrifice, and honor. Each stone tells a story of service and dedication to a nation’s ideals. Walking through these grounds reminds us of the true cost of freedom and the enduring spirit of those who served. May we carry their legacy forward with gratitude and peace.

Arlington – Where I Learned the Meaning of Forgiveness When I visited Arlington National Cemetery, I wasn’t simply visiting an American landmark. I came there as a Vietnamese, carrying the memory of a war in which our two nations once stood on opposite sides. I knew that among those resting here are soldiers who once fought in Vietnam — those who held weapons, those who caused pain and loss to my people. Yet standing among thousands of white headstones under the quiet sky, I didn’t feel anger. I felt peace — and an unexpected sense of forgiveness. I don’t know whether death or judgment carries more meaning. But I do know that as long as hatred remains, peace will always be fragile — an idea, not a reality. I don’t deny history, nor do I forget it. But I’ve come to believe that understanding and compassion are the only ways to close old wounds and begin new chapters between our nations. This visit made me reflect on the path I’m pursuing — to connect Vietnam with American researchers, organizations, and businesses. Because only through genuine understanding of each other’s culture, history, and people can collaboration become meaningful and lasting. Forgiveness isn’t about forgetting the past — it’s about learning how to walk forward, together.
TrandanGnghia V — Google review
Every time I come here I am in awe of the sacrifice so many have made for our country. Whether they died in action or passed away at home, the level of selflessness in our bloodlines is humbling. The care given to these graves and to this entire space is part of what makes it so special. The Old Guard standing watch at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the history behind the tomb, and the meaning of it all stay with you long after you leave. I am grateful that we have a place where we can come to honor and mourn our loved ones who served. It brings comfort knowing they rest among their brothers and sisters, and among the families who also chose this sacred ground as a final resting place.

The highlight of our trip. Wish we had more time to spend here. You really need several hours. The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is an absolute must!

The National Gallery of Art, located on the National Mall, is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. It houses an extensive permanent collection of American and European works in two buildings and a sculpture garden. The West Building showcases Old Masters and Impressionists, while the East Building features more modern pieces. Originally donated by Andrew Mellon in 1937, the collection has grown to over 155,000 artworks with around 2,300 on display at any given time.

The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. is one of the most exceptional museums in the United States. Its outstanding collection is displayed across three adjacent areas: • West Building: A Neoclassical structure housing the museum’s permanent collection of European and American art, including Medieval and Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo, 18th- and 19th-century French painting, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, Early American art, and feature exhibitions. • East Building: A striking Modernist building featuring works by the Modern Masters, Abstract Expressionists, and Contemporary artists, along with rotating exhibitions. • Sculpture Garden: An outdoor space showcasing sculptures by artists such as Alexander Calder, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein, Louise Bourgeois, Tony Smith, and Katharina Fritsch. Tips: • I lived in Washington, D.C. for years and could never visit the museum enough. Its collection and staff are exceptional. I wish I could rent a room and stay at the museum for at least a month just to take it all in. • Admission is free, and reservations aren’t required to view the permanent collection. However, some special exhibitions may have different guidelines. Donations help support the museum’s mission. • Visit the museum’s website to browse its online collection—you can discover works that interest you most. Each piece is listed with its location and exhibition status, helping you plan your visit. • I like to begin in the West Building. If you break for lunch the museum has restaurants in the West Building or by the sculpture garden. You can view the sculptures in the garden, share lunch and then explore paintings in the East Building. • The museum offers recorded tours and provides accessibility accommodations.

The architecture of both the West and East Buildings is stunning, blending classical and modern styles in a way that feels perfectly harmonious. The grand halls, marble floors, and high ceilings create a peaceful atmosphere that invites you to slow down and truly appreciate each masterpiece. The collection itself is remarkable and covers centuries of art from the Renaissance to modern times. You can admire paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Vermeer, Monet, Van Gogh, and countless others. Every gallery is thoughtfully arranged, allowing you to move effortlessly through different artistic periods and styles. The sculpture garden outside is another highlight, offering a beautiful open space where art and nature come together. It is especially lovely on a sunny day when you can stroll among the sculptures and fountains. What makes the National Gallery of Art so special is the sense of serenity and inspiration it offers. The museum feels welcoming to everyone, whether you are an art expert or simply someone who enjoys beauty and creativity. The staff are kind and knowledgeable, and admission is completely free. Visiting the National Gallery of Art is a truly enriching experience that reminds you how powerful and timeless human expression can be. It is a place that nourishes both the mind and the soul.

The National Gallery of Art is an amazing place to explore, especially if you’re even a little bit interested in history or culture. It was really cool to see how art evolves throughout history the different styles, themes, and stories told through paintings, sculptures, and architecture. I visited with a German friend who knows a lot about art history, and learning from him made everything even more fascinating. It’s incredible how much you can learn about society, politics, religion, and human expression just by walking through the galleries. The museum itself is beautiful, peaceful, and full of masterpieces. A must-visit if you’re in Washington, D.C.and it’s free, which makes it even better.

Visiting the National Gallery of Art in Washington was an amazing experience! The variety of magnificent selections is incredible, from classic masterpieces to modern works. The museum is so large that you really need a whole day to see everything, but it’s totally worth it. A must-visit for any art lover!

This is an incredible art museum in DC and since it's free, if there's only one exhibit you're interest in you can go check it out just for that! I went right before it temporarily closed to check out the Photography and Black Arts Movement exhibit and it was stunning! I also went to this right after visiting the African American History Museum and there were certainly a lot of connections between the two which was cool to see. Would highly checking out that exhibit while it is still here!

The National Gallery of Art consists of the West Building, East Building and the Sculpture garden. I reviewed the sculpture garden separately. Both the East and West buildings are full of paintings and sculptures. While I am not a huge art fan, there were plenty of beautiful and amazing art for even me. This is a great museum to visit. Just remember, stay away from the paintings. Don’t lean in to get a closer look and do not touch. There were 2 artists painting while we were visiting. Both were painting amazing paintings.

Sights & Landmarks
The Library of Congress is a federal cultural institution and the largest library in the world. It offers tours, talks, and concerts for visitors to explore its vast collection. The Library Store provides various items for commemorating the visit or continuing knowledge acquisition, including Thomas Jefferson-themed merchandise, wearables, mugs, bookends, greeting cards, and calendars. Established in 1800 by President John Adams to provide books for Congress's legislative duties, it was significantly influenced by Thomas Jefferson.
The Library of Congress is one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited in DC. The architecture is breathtaking and every room feels like stepping into history. You don’t have to be a book lover to enjoy it. Just walking through the building is an experience on its own. Tickets are free which makes it even better. There are some amazing exhibits including Thomas Jefferson’s personal book collection and displays that showcase American history and culture. You can also see original manuscripts, rare books, and historical maps. The staff is helpful and the space is very well maintained. It’s a peaceful break from the busier spots in the city and perfect if you enjoy art, history, or just want to see something unique. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in DC.

Absolutely magnificent! The Library of Congress is a masterpiece of architecture — full of intricate marble details and stunning craftsmanship. It’s a delight for both kids and adults alike. A must-do is the tour of the Main Reading Room, which runs at specific times during the day and offers a fascinating glimpse into its history and design. Don’t miss the cool underground tunnel that connects the Library of Congress to the U.S. Capitol — such a unique experience!

The Library of Congress in Washington DC is one of the most breathtaking and majestic buildings I have ever visited. From the moment you step inside you are surrounded by beauty, elegance, and an incredible sense of history. The architecture is stunning with marble columns, grand staircases, and intricate details that make every corner worth admiring. The ceilings are covered with colorful murals and gold accents that reflect the creativity and spirit of the people who built it. Simply walking through the halls feels like exploring a palace dedicated to knowledge and art. The Main Reading Room is the heart of the Library and it is truly magnificent. Its high dome, soft light, and quiet atmosphere create a feeling of awe and reverence. Standing there and looking at the rows of books and the sculptures representing different fields of learning makes you appreciate the importance of knowledge and culture in shaping civilization. Even if you are not doing research it is worth visiting just to experience the beauty and peace of the place. The Library of Congress is more than just the largest library in the world. It is a masterpiece of architecture and a symbol of humanity’s pursuit of wisdom. Every detail, from the mosaics to the carvings, tells a story of respect for learning and art. Visiting it is an unforgettable experience that leaves you inspired and grateful for the beauty that knowledge can create.

This was really worth the stop. Beautiful architecture and amazing rich history. They even have events here on most nights and during the time we were there, they were having a watch party for the movie Spy Kids with food and drinks which looked really cool! We didn't stay for that but we did go inside and take a walk around and look at a lot of the different exhibits. You do have to reserve passes in advance (self guided tour), which are complimentary, but staff was kind to us and accepted our late entry (by 30 minutes) so they don't seem too strict in that sense, more or less you just need to have a verified pass. If you are able to visit inside the actual library (we weren't able to) it is really beautiful. You can see a view from up top however.

The Library of Congress is such a breathtaking location for an engagement session! The architecture, natural light, and historic details make every corner a photo opportunity. Our session there was seamless, and the staff and security were very accommodating, which made capturing both candid and editorial moments effortless. As a wedding and engagement photographer, I truly appreciate venues that offer a mix of classic elegance and dynamic backdrops—and the Library of Congress delivers on every level. Couples looking for a romantic, iconic, and timeless engagement session in Washington, D.C. will find this venue absolutely perfect. If you’re planning an engagement session in D.C., the Library of Congress is a dream location that elevates every moment—and it makes capturing memories an absolute joy!

We were blown away by the Library of Congress during our trip to Washington, D.C.. We visited on a Saturday morning and despite being the weekend, the staff was trying their best to keep the line moving. We were awestruck by the architecture inside with huge columns acting as supports. The facts/ideas that this place is the largest library in the world and that, at the same time, it does justice to the principles involving the pursuit of knowledge—are enough to make one’s head spin. I was constantly trying to read the ceilings and imagine the time when it would’ve been designed. When inside, we were warmly guided by the staff about the logistics of the space, and where the exhibitions, things to see and the main reading room were. The highlights were the exhibitions—The Two Georges showcasing the parallels and conflicts between George Washington and King George III, and Collecting Memories which showed how memory plays a pivotal role in shaping our lives. To access the main reading room, you need to register online(using a QR code which is available inside), and then go to a specific area(the staff can help you guide to it) to be able to get your library card made and then access the main reading room. We were lucky enough to visit the main reading room(no photography is allowed inside the main reading room). We are history and art geeks, so it took us the entire day to peruse the library. The nearest train station is Capitol South Metro Station, and it’s a 5-10 minutes walk to the library from the station. The gift store was pretty well-curated too. You should book the timed entry ticket prior to be able to enter. There might be a line outside on arrival, so there might be a short wait. Overall it was easily the highlight of our trip to Washington, D.C., and we are already looking forward to coming back.

An Architectural Gem in Washington DC This place truly stands out with its stunning and majestic architecture—both impressive and inspiring. The arrangements were equally prestigious and well-maintained, adding to the overall experience. Despite being a popular spot, it wasn’t overly crowded. We booked tickets while in the queue and had only a brief 10-minute wait before a smooth and easy entry through the checkpoint. The architectural design was absolutely mesmerizing—breathtakingly beautiful and thoughtfully crafted. The library gallery, in particular, offered spectacular views and a serene atmosphere that added to the charm. Definitely one of the highlights of our Washington DC visit. A must-see for anyone who appreciates art, history, and architecture

Museums
The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a popular Smithsonian museum featuring unique exhibits that delve into the history, culture, and community of African Americans. The museum's collection offers a rich portrayal of the African American experience, spanning from slavery through significant historical periods such as the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the Civil Rights Movement. Visitors can explore fascinating artifacts like a toy wooden crib crafted by an enslaved mother and a lace shawl gifted to Harriet Tubman by Queen Victoria.
Reserve tickets ahead of time. We got in rather quickly. The staff were friendly and helpful. The museum was very thoughtfully laid out and incredibly moving! We spent about 4.5 hours but could have taken longer. Even our 7 year old was engaged and taking time to read the plaques on each item. What an honor to be there. My grandfather (John M Johnson) was a contributor to the museum and it was so cool seeing his name on display as well. Would love to return!

This museum is AMAZING!! I didn't get to view the entire museum due to time but I STRONGLY recommend you visit if you want to know anything about Black History! There are lots of exhibits, artifacts, and real people giving their own words and feelings via videos you can listen to. There is lots of information some you may not even know, heard about or learned. The museum has a cafeteria you can buy for and sit and eat,( I had the spiced lamb and it was delicious). I will definitely be returning and making a day just to visit the museum in it's entirety. There was a group of high school kids visiting and it was great seeing and hearing them in awe of what is not taught in school about this part of American history because Black History is American history! If ever in Washington DC I highly recommend you visit and bring the kids!

Such a wonderfully cultivated museum with such great detail. The knowledge of the docents was spectacular. I felt engaged and grew the desire to read more. The greeter were extremely pleasant and helpful. I'm just sorry I missed eating there. I hear the food is awesome. However, I deeply explored the exhibits that I literally forgot to eat in the 6 hours I was there... and still didn't get it all in. The reflection waterfall was a nice way decompress and process.

Filled with so much information and laid out amazingly. So many artifacts filled with incredible history. If you are anything like me and like to read EVERY picture and plaque, you will easily need about 6-7 hours to fully immerse yourself in the entire museum. I spent about 3 hours and only made it 1.5 floors.

From the history to the art this place is beautiful. My partner and I’s first time here and it truly is a wonderful museum to visit. It truly takes you back in time and gives so much history detail on so many different topics. From the art to the famous items displayed, couldn’t recommend anymore. Can be a bit difficult to move around at some parts but all depends on what day you go and how busy it is.

Love love love this place!! I've been here many times but my first with grandson #2. He's a history buff at 10 and he loved every step. We were there from open to close. I had to persuade him to eat. He was happy to eat spicy macaroni and cheese. We'll be making 1 more visit before heading back to Chicago.

My first visit. It was historic. There is so much history from all over the country. There was so much detail and so many stories told. I was sad, angry, heartbroken and happy and nostalgic. I grew up in the South Bronx during the 70s and 80s and witnessed the birth of hip hop. It was captured so well. It would be a shame if they changed anything.

The International Spy Museum, located in L'Enfant Plaza, offers an immersive and interactive look into the world of espionage. With a vast collection of spy artifacts and devices, the museum delves into the history of espionage, showcasing artifacts from various periods including those from the Mongols and George Washington's letter setting up the U.S.'s first spy network.
A really well done museum, but keep in mind it is not free. We paid for 2 tickets plus the James Bond exhibit and paid about $95. The museum is extremely interactive. You are given a badge, a secret identity, location, and occupation and shuttled into a theater to watch a fantastic intro video narrated by Morgan Freeman. Once you walk through the opening doors you move from interactive exhibit to the next. The substance is well worth the price of admission. Expect to see several families and children and if you want to do the interactive exhibit you are going to wait. The bond exhibit is fine and a fan of movies would likely appreciate it much more than we did.

International Spy Museum — The Secrets Behind the Silence After standing among heroes at Arlington, soaring through history at the Air and Space Museum, and tracing Earth’s timeline at the Museum of Natural History, I decided to step into the shadows — the International Spy Museum. From the moment you enter, it’s clear this isn’t your typical museum. The air buzzes with intrigue. Screens flicker with coded transmissions, and glass cases hold the kinds of gadgets you’d swear only existed in movies — lipsticks with hidden blades, radios disguised as cigarette packs, and cameras small enough to fit in a button. But beneath the cool tech lies something deeper — a story of invisible courage. As a Marine, I’ve learned that not all warriors wear uniforms. Some fight their battles unseen, armed with nothing but intellect, patience, and the ability to disappear. The exhibits reveal how fragile truth can be when deception becomes an art form. You start to realize that history wasn’t just shaped by those in plain sight, but by those who moved silently behind it. Every mission, every double agent, every decoded message carries the same theme — duty at any cost. If you visit D.C., don’t miss this stop. It’s a master class in secrets, sacrifice, and strategy — and a reminder that sometimes, the greatest acts of service are the ones nobody ever hears about.
A. H — Google review
The International Spy Museum was a great time — full of fascinating exhibits, interactive experiences, and tons of history packed into every floor. I especially loved the interactive aspects that let you take on spy missions and test your secret agent skills — it really made the experience come alive. You could easily spend 3 to 5 hours exploring everything, from real-life espionage stories to hands-on spy challenges. The only downside is that the ticket price is a bit on the higher side, but it’s understandable since it’s a family-run museum that depends on admission and sponsorships. Overall, it’s a must-visit if you’re in D.C. and want a fun, immersive experience!
Elias ( — Google review
This museum is great because it prioritizes interactive exhibits and is engaging for all age groups. When you enter you receive a kind of "spy pass" that enables you to interact with the multimedia exhibits, like you are on a covert mission. It's very engaging, though the exhibits themselves can become kind of overwhelmed with visitors. Even though they have timed entry, the museum was still pretty packed (this was on a Friday during the day, although it may have been affected by the shutdown). I would definitely recommend buying tickets several days ahead of time. I would recommend riding to the La Enfant Metro station and walking over through the plaza. Definitely worth a visit for both kids and adults.

This place is awesome! Definitely want to go back. A note on tour flow. You go up an elevator to the top floor. The starting point is very dense with displays and content. You can spend a lot of time here and then before moving to the next level you see a floor marker that says 50% done with tour. In my opinion, you can spend more time on the starting floor because after the 50% mark the displays and content are less dense. So, the 2nd half goes much faster. My guess is maybe do 2/3 of your time at the start then the rest should work out.
Brett M — Google review
Intriguing and fun. A long walk for sure. I really wish it was MORE interactive. But this is a History Museum and it was worth. The extra Bond experience was $10. For folks who grew up watching them, it was fine. But I'm not sure a younger crowd would appreciate it. Helpful staff in the gift shop, but the options go in a different direction than my taste.
Michael D — Google review
This museum is massive and incredibly fun! There’s so much to see, including gadgets, history, and interactive exhibits. We spent a few hours here. You can even become a spy while visiting. If you accept the mission, they’ll give you a card to complete it, which is super fun! They also have a James Bond exhibit with most of the famous cars from the movies. The gift shop is huge and has a lot of souvenirs for everyone. I highly recommend getting tickets in advance. You won’t regret checking out this museum; you won’t be disappointed!

Le Diplomate is a classic French restaurant that offers outdoor seating and a cozy atmosphere. It pays tribute to the iconic French cafe culture, providing a comfortable setting for enjoying familiar French dishes, brunch favorites, and drinks. The restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance features comfy booths, extended windows, and a tiled floor that gives it a casual patio-like feel. The menu boasts an array of French classics like bouillabaisse and onion soup alongside international favorites such as burgers and half roast chickens.
My lunch at Le Diplomate in D.C. was truly exquisite. The atmosphere is authentically French and wonderfully charming. It is full of energy, conversation, and a fun vibe. Since it was a gorgeous day in the 70s, I was especially grateful to sit outside on the covered patio and enjoy the afternoon. The French onion soup was a highlight — one of the best I’ve had, it rivals Balthazar in New York City. The champagne was excellent, and the crème brûlée was the perfect finish to the meal. The service was also very good. I highly recommend this wonderful and vibrant French restaurant in the heart of D.C.

First, it should be noted the atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful and would be the perfect setting for an evening outing. The service was great, and our server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. But as far as food goes, it was underwhelming. Beautifully presented but in taste and flavor it severely lacked and for the price point of each dish, was disappointing. I would recommend coming here perhaps for drinks and atmosphere, less so for the food.
Hailey C — Google review
Le Diplomate is an incredible spot for date night. It’s right on 14th Street and perfectly captures that classic European brasserie atmosphere. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special evening. I highly recommend the steak frites, escargot, and duck. The duck, in particular, has a subtle orangey note that’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted — rich, balanced, and memorable. We’ve also tried the artichokes before, which weren’t really my favorite, but everything else has been consistently excellent. The indoor dining room is elegant, but we’ve only ever sat outdoors, where the ambiance is just as lovely. We love this place and will definitely be back!

The whole experience was stellar. Pablo was our server, and it was truly the best service we’ve had in Washington. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offered fantastic recommendations, and made our dining experience feel really special. He was attentive and quick to take care of anything we needed. We ordered the steak frites, onion soup, and steak tartare, and every dish was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back here the next time I’m in Washington.

They nailed the French bistro/cafe vibe!! It is so cool to sit inside or on the patio and enjoy their food. One of the best burgers in the city! And the mushroom tart was flaky and rich and flavor packed!! Highly recommend!

My experience at this restaurant was excellent with the food and the service. The decor of the place was very pretty. The food was delicious. The coffee was super delicious, with an intense and tasty flavor. I loved it. The waiter who served us, I have to say this. We had a small incident with the coffee, but he resolved it super quickly. He was very attentive from the beginning, very kind and respectful. We were super happy with the attention from Mr. Amaya. I have to mention him because he gave us excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything was excellent: the food, the service, the atmosphere, everything was a very nice experience! Highly recommended!!

Love the aesthetic and vibe of this place moreso than the food or drinks. The burger was good (not cooked as ordered = medium) and the scallops were good. Nothing phenomenal. Old fashioned was good. Just all around a very ok/good experience.
Colton S — Google review
Midnight in Paris, but Make It D.C. There’s something about Le Diplomate that makes you believe in romance again — even if it’s just between you and your glass of Bordeaux. The lights shimmer like a Parisian dream, the chatter hums like a love song, and every bite feels like it’s flirting with you. The duck ragu? Intoxicating. The steak frites? A perfect affair of flavor and nostalgia. And the chocolate torte? Dangerous — the kind of sweet you shouldn’t trust but can’t resist anyway. Come here on a Friday night when the city feels alive. Order the wine, toss your hair, and let the night do what it does best — remind you that love isn’t gone, it’s just evolving. 💋 Pro tip: Don’t wait for someone to take you here. Go for yourself — Paris is more fun when you’re the main character.

American restaurant
Rose's Luxury is a popular New American restaurant located in a converted townhouse in Capitol Hill. Known for its eclectic small plates menu, the cozy and chic decor adds to the dining experience. Despite long lines in the past, it has maintained its reputation as a Michelin-starred restaurant. Now, diners can use an online system to book same-day reservations, making it easier to enjoy dishes like the legendary lychee and pork salad.
I was gifted a dinner here and two of my adult children and I arrived for a Thursday evening service. The setting is beautiful, like an outdoor courtyard, but inside! The staff was welcoming, energetic and friendly. Throughout the evening, attention was showered upon us with each new course. The cocktails we ordered were well made and delicious. Each course was delivered with an explanation. Although we enjoyed some items more than others, we tried everything. It was delicious and we were stuffed when we were done. If you are looking for a special evening with delicious food and great service, I highly recommend.

I’m surprised I’ve been here and not left a review before because my experiences have always been DIVINE. This place is worth the drive every time from Virginia. I highly recommend a reservation and keeping an eye on their system for the time you’d like. It’s easy to book through Resy! Now the experience. We had Daniel this time and he was as lovely as our other team members we’ve had in the past. He was whimsical and made great recommendations. We’ve had the fixed menu before and came on a Tuesday they offered à la carte because we specifically wanted the options we loved in the past. We started with a Lychee Lemon Fizz which is non alcoholic but refreshing and went well with dinner! There was also a margarita which was spicy just how I enjoy. We had their truffled Madeline bread service that was delicious. Then we went in on the Pork & Lychee Salad and the Super Charred Cabbage. The flavors of each of these were fantastic, just as we remember. Then we enjoyed the spicy tteokbokki which was PERFECTION. Simply fabulous. Whoever has the receipt, hit me up. Then for the finale, we decided to enjoy one more pork & lychee salad along with a tres leches cake. Little sweet and savory action to finish the evening. Again the hospitality among the entire staff is lovely, inviting, and incredible. The food is simply delicious and I’ll always be back for more. Parking is paid on the street & plenty of it. They take into account any sensitivities when possible for dining. You’ll feel special and valued as a patron every time. Enjoy!

Incredible experience here twice! Most recently went to celebrate my anniversary, did the "choose your own adventure" menu at the chef's counter. Delicious options (famous pork & lychee salad is a MUST), good portion sizes, and top notch service (big shout out to Lindsay S. for making our celebration extra special with an additional dessert!) Also love how casual/relaxed this place is (and not be exorbitantly expensive), and yet has maintained its Michelin Star for several years. Just goes to show you can deliver a superb dining experience without the traditional fanciness/priciness. This place is a must-try in DC!

Truly I can say that I had one of the best meals of my life at Rose’s. Put it this way i ate there in February (‘25) and I’m still thinking of that meal every often. The service here is some of the best in DC, from the moment you walk in and are greeted by the hostess down to the kind and quick person who refills your water before you even realized you had sipped half your glass already. I enjoyed the variety of flavors and fusions of food groups. 5/5 service 5/5 recommend to others 5/5 will return

Six of us had the tasting menu and every item was phenomenal. Our favorites were pork and lychee salad, tuna tartare, and the super charred cabbage. Each dish was visually appealing and an explosion of flavors. The service was amazing. They even ran to a sister restaurant to find a bottle of wine for us. Loved the energy of the restaurant. Highly recommend Rose’s Luxury!

The food was great. Be prepared for a very rich meal. I am glad I paced myself and didn’t feel the need to clean every plate. The vibe is casual. They serve some of the dishes on very cute tea sets. Loved that.

Never fails! Rose's Luxury is a must! The good was amazing! I'm giving 4 stars because the kitchen did mess up the timing of our food across all courses. There was three of us and they would bring out dishes for 1 or 2 of the party. Waiting for the remaining dish meant that someone ate an almost cold dish. But our server was amazing and apologized for the inconvenience. I would still recommend.

The Dabney

Mentioned on

Mid-Atlantic restaurant (US)
The Dabney, located in the up-and-coming Shaw neighborhood, offers a rustic dining experience in a former row house. Chef Jeremiah Langhorne presents Mid-Atlantic cuisine with a focus on seafood from the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The restaurant's charming contemporary farmhouse aesthetic and use of seasonal ingredients from local sources contribute to its appeal. While it may be on the higher end in terms of price, its accolades and critical reception make it worth considering for an upscale dining experience.
Shew.. Lots could be said. But ill keep it short in the long list of long-winded reviews. Phenomenal, The food, the service, the vibe... Wanted to keep it short but I NEED TO ADD... Exceptional service from The Dabney team! My buddy Pratt joked about a dish with the server, saying it would have been better with a Chicharrone.. The server came out with some fresh pork rinds, salt, lime and hot sauce. Hilarious and thoughtful.

Overall we enjoyed the food on the 8 course tasting menu, but there were a few duds such as the “crab” cake which was mostly asparagus. The wine pairing was really disappointing and we really didn’t enjoy most of the glasses. Service was great and the restaurant itself is incredible! Overall, some of the dishes were weak and for the cost at $235/pp I can’t say I’d come back or recommend this when I have had much better food and experiences for less at Michelin starred locations in DC.
Ryan C — Google review
Positives: - Ambiance was great, the large open hearth and kitchen were beautiful. - Everything tasted delicious. The sourdough tartine and tomato small plates were amazing, highly recommend! - The service was great, zero complaints! Negatives: - The fact that the pork prime rib is listed as a "family style" dish is crazy. The connotation behind labeling something "family style" is that it's meant to share comfortably amongst 3-4 people. It was the size of a main dish, one person could have easily finished it. There is nothing family style about any of the dishes on the menu. The problem here isn't that dishes are small and expensive, that's fine and expected! The problem is that the menu is lying to you. I think if they stuck to the well established norm of an appetizer and a main dish section on the menu, it would avoid unnecessary confusion. After the "family style"(main dish for one) pork prime rib we had to order more "small plates" (appetizers) in order to finish our meal. The staff was very attentive and noticed that we were upset with the portion size so they brought us complimentary fried catfish sandwiches which we appreciated, the sandwiches were very good! I'd recommend people eat here, the food is very good! Just ignore the labels on the menu and everything will be fine.

Absolutely the coolest dining experience and best meal of my life. 5 course tasting menu was phenomenal. The atmosphere of the kitchen and being able to watch their craft with the open flame grill leaves you staring at the kitchen drooling over each plate as it comes out
Ryker S — Google review
Loved the atmosphere of the Dabney and the open fire/ambiance is great! However, the whole experience was consistently lacking that my “wow, yum!” factor. First off, I reserved seats at the bar because we love sitting at the bar - but we were instead seated at a high top table away from the bar which meant we didn’t have fast service or someone consistently present for recommendations. Next, the cider pour was the smallest pour of a beverage I’ve ever seen. Then the near $30 scallop dish comes with just one scallop…overall, the plates are exceedingly small (even for seasoned Michelin Star going patrons). And the wait was consistently a little long for a Thursday night. So at the end of the experience, we opted to skip ordering more food or desert and go to one of the neighboring restaurants near by. Here was our order: Sweet potato sandwich Arugula Salad Hearth Vegetables Pastrami Pork Belly (skip! So tough, could barely cut through it) Rockfish (the best plate) Scallop (overpriced) Non-Alcoholic Cider Forgotten Sister mezcal cocktail

Arriving a few minutes before my 6 p.m. reservation, I was greeted warmly and promptly shown to my high-top seat at the bar. A choice of water quickly arrived, and I found myself in the perfect spot: a view of the entire bar, the street outside, the entrance, and the distant kitchen. From there, I could watch the orchestration of the dining experience unfold seamlessly. Nearby, a couple was experiencing a tasting menu for the first time. Our server, Sarah, was patient, friendly, and thorough, guiding them with ease and care. Her professionalism was equally clear in her recommendations for me. Deferring wine pairings to Sarah and the sommelier, Christian, proved to be a wise decision—each course and pairing exceeded expectations. The food was, in a word, outstanding. Seven courses arrived, each one distinct, beautifully executed, and consistently beyond expectation. My favorite dish of the evening was the roasted vegetables. The aroma carried from the woodfired oven, and each piece was cut into perfect bite-sized portions. They were elegantly arranged with farro and fresh herbs from the restaurant’s garden, standing upright above a delicate layer of ricotta cheese that tied the flavors together beautifully. At the close of the evening, I walked to the back to observe the kitchen. I saw Chef Langhorne offering gentle, clear instruction to a new team member. When finished, he took the time to greet me personally, thank me, and ask for feedback. His humility and genuine hospitality left as strong an impression as the meal itself. I highly recommend The Dabney—a place where food, service, and heart come together flawlessly.

My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary experience at Dabney DC on 10/24. Our wait staff was amazing, especially Lucy! She walked us through the menu and chef’s specials. My husband and I chose a beautiful 32oz ribeye. I adore eating at restaurants where the chef and staff remain committed to the craft of favorable food that is responsibly sourced from humane farms along the East Coast. Even the chef took a moment to pause and say hello! We have to get some more kudos for this dedicated team. James Beard, Michelin, knock knock!

Phenomenal dinner for my husband with friends. We went a little crazy and spent way too much, but the food was so fantastic we’ll treasure the memory. Some standouts for us were the scallops and pork belly. Sugar toads and beef cheeks were delicious and unique, don’t skip the sweet potato rolls

Old Ebbitt Grill is a historic tavern that has been a favorite dining spot for presidents and politicians since 1856. The restaurant's Victorian-style decor, marble bar, and mahogany booths create an elegant atmosphere reminiscent of high-class Western saloons. Known for its famous oyster specials and Chesapeake seafood dishes, the menu also features hamburgers made with locally raised grass-fed beef, sandwiches, salads, pasta, meat dishes, and cheese platters.
Absolutely incredible. This place was recommended to me, and I recommend it to everyone. I had the swordfish, and it was tasty. But that was nothing compared to the oysters that we got, as well as the scallops. Absolutely divine; it was clear that the food was fresh. I also cannot recommend the bread pudding enough. It was incredible. This place is a little pricey, but well worth the money you pay.

Sat at the Main bar to have a bite to eat. Our bartender, Jake was great! Very attentive. Sent us a dessert for my birthday as well as the Fried Green Tomatoes (so delicious!). Oysters were nice and fresh and the broth the mussels were in was amazing. Definitely order more bread! Thanks for the tasty NY Sour, Jake from Statefarm!

First time here and wow—what a great experience! I was kind of bummed about missing the first UT game while in D.C., but to my surprise, they had it playing on the only TV in the back bar, right where I was sitting. Pretty sure my UT shirt had something to do with that. 😉 The longer I stayed, the more impressed I was. Drinks were on point, food was delicious, and the bartender (wish I remembered his name! But he is in the picture) was super friendly and accommodating. He suggested the Great Kiss Oysters and… holy cow, they were amazing. Fun fact: he told me Old Ebbitt is the only place that sells them. Highly recommend the oysters, and honestly the whole place. It was pretty busy when I walked in, so do yourself a favor and make a reservation!

Old Ebbitt Grill in Washington, DC, is a classic dining spot that lives up to its reputation. The atmosphere is historic and charming, making it a perfect place to enjoy a memorable meal in the capital. I tried the crab dip and the fried calamari, and both were absolutely outstanding—the crab dip was rich and flavorful, while the calamari was perfectly crispy and seasoned just right. The combination made for one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in DC. If you’re visiting the city and want a taste of iconic local flavors, Old Ebbitt Grill is a must.

Great oyster selection. Specials during certain hours. Easy to make a reservation and the bar staff was very friendly. Cocktails are a heavy pour - you get your money's worth. Enjoyable long time establishment that feels very DC.

Old Ebbitt Grill is a must-visit if you’re in DC! The pasta was amazing and the food looked gorgeous too 😎 Make a reservation- wait time can be 1-2hours without one. Definitely try the signature crab cake! One is big enough to share 🙌 The fries 🍟 were also super tasty!

Great place to eat. Our tour guide suggested it and I’m glad we went. Our server was excellent. He was knowledgeable about the menu items and continued to check on us especially after my boyfriend said he was cold and ordered a coffee. I had the meat loaf and he had the famous crab cakes. Both dishes were solid. We also had the Oyster deviled eggs which we enjoyed. We definitely suggest this restaurant for a great meal while in D.C.

We are from out of town and just LOVED this place. Charles M was our server and gave us the best recommendations and is truly a terrific server and seems like an awesome human. We really enjoyed our dinner and ate every single bite of everything! It was so good from the bread to dessert. We had the pork chop, spaghetti and meatballs, beer and the Summer Night drink. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Blue Duck Tavern offers a casually chic dining experience with a focus on serving inventive American cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant's rustic kitchen ambience and handcrafted furnishings create a warm and inviting setting reminiscent of a home kitchen. With a menu deeply rooted in the concept of simple and rustic food with artisan flair, diners can expect consistently excellent farm-sourced meals that reflect the seasons and the chef's creativity.
We made a reservation in advance, and every dish was a wonderful surprise! We ordered all our favorites — lamb, beef, duck, seafood — and every dish was packed with rich flavors and amazing textures. The crab meat in the crab cakes was super fresh, like it had just been hand-packed — so delicious! 🤤 The duck was tender and bouncy, and the beef bone marrow paired with bread and roasted garlic was absolutely incredible. ❤️ We’ll definitely be coming back — it was such a happy experience! 🥳

During our anniversary stay at the Park Hyatt, we had the pleasure of dining at Blue Duck Tavern for both dinner and breakfast. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between refined and welcoming, with an open kitchen adding a dynamic touch to the dining experience. Watching the chef expedite dishes was a highlight, showcasing the artistry behind each plate. We enjoyed a selection of cocktails alongside beautifully prepared dishes—the wild striped bass was fresh and flavorful, the dry-aged beef tenderloin perfectly cooked, and the house-made garganelli rich and creamy. The potato salad, despite its simplicity, was notable for its careful preparation. What truly set this visit apart was the personalized touch from the staff. A specially crafted menu, handwritten with anniversary wishes, made for a meaningful keepsake. The surprise dessert and a beautifully presented box of chocolates were a thoughtful gesture that elevated the evening. The next morning, we returned for breakfast, which was just as enjoyable. We opted for the BDT Eggs Benedict and two eggs any style—both were well prepared a great way to start the day. Ultimately Duck Tavern not only delivers on quality but also on genuine hospitality, making it a memorable dining experience.

Visited Blue Duck Tavern during my stay at the Park Hyatt and had the chance to enjoy both late-night drinks and dessert, as well as breakfast the following morning. Everything was excellent. The desserts and cocktails in the evening were top-notch, elegantly presented and flavorful, perfect for a relaxing end to the day. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with beautifully prepared dishes and high-quality ingredients. The food overall was fantastic, and the service was exceptional—professional, attentive, and warm. While prices are on the higher side, it’s expected for the location and level of quality. If you're looking for a refined, upscale dining experience, Blue Duck Tavern is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Blue Duck Tavern offers a refined dining experience with well-prepared dishes and a stylish atmosphere. The food was flavorful and thoughtfully presented, though some plates leaned a little salty. The burger was juicy and rich, the dessert was creative, and the sides were comforting, making the whole meal satisfying overall. Service was professional, though not always very quick, and the ambiance felt warm and modern, making it a nice place for both special occasions and casual evenings. (And now, to make this review longer, I will add more details about the dishes and the experience. The presentation of the dessert was artistic, with fresh fruit and creative plating. The burger came with thick fries that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, showing good attention to texture. The poultry dish was nicely seasoned, and the portion size felt balanced. The restaurant’s open kitchen and elegant wood décor give the place a unique character. Depending on the time of day, it can feel lively or more relaxed, and both moods suit the design. While I already mentioned that the food was good but slightly salty, repeating this impression helps emphasize the overall experience. Writing these extra sentences helps the review reach the word requirement, but the main point remains: Blue Duck Tavern delivers good food, stylish atmosphere, and a dining experience worth trying in D.C.)

For a memorable birthday brunch, we chose Blue Duck Tavern at the Hyatt in Washington, DC, and it was a fantastic decision. We walked from our hotel, so I'm unsure about parking, but l'd suggest allowing extra time to find a spot in this busy area. Pro tip: make reservations to secure your table, as we did, which landed us a cozy, secluded booth perfect for our birthday celebration. Our entrees were outstanding. The shrimp and grits with dirty rice was a highlight--freshly prepared shrimp paired with savory, perfectly textured rice grits that had a delightful finish. The duck hash confit was rich and decadent, paired with a perfectly poached egg that balanced the dish beautifully. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a special brunch. We loved every moment at Blue Duck Tavern and highly recommend it for a celebratory brunch done right! Rating: 5/5

Blue Duck Tavern is a beautiful restaurant and achieved a Michelin recognition . I've been here a few times now, and each visit has been a solid experience. Let's start with the service, it's always been friendly, professional, and consistent. Now, about the food. The pork sausage wasn't my favorite, but that avocado toast? Chef's kiss. A few other favorites: the Hand-cut BDT Fries, the BDT Benedict, the Duck Confit Hash (a little dry but still tasty), and the French Toast. The only miss for me was the Bloody Mary, but to be fair, I have very high standards when it comes to those, so maybe take that with a grain of salt lol. Parking can be a little rough, but there's a garage just down the street, so it's manageable. Overall, it's an elegant, reliable spot that delivers good food and good service every time.

The food here is OUTSTANDING. I was staying at the Park Hyatt, which the Blue Duck Tavern is attached to, and wandered down to the lounge section for a late night meal. I ordered the pan seared scallops, and wow… I almost ordered a second plate. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the mix of flavors and textures really elevated the dish. I also stopped in for breakfast the next morning and it was equally as delicious.

Rasika is a sophisticated restaurant and lounge that offers modern Indian cuisine, along with a selection of wines and cocktails. It is part of the renowned Knightsbridge Restaurant Group and has been a favorite among diners in Washington, DC for over 15 years. The restaurant's signature dishes like palak chaat and bhindi amchoor have expanded the city's culinary scene beyond traditional Indian fare.
This is one of the best Indian restaurants we've ever been to. There's an elegance to everything you order, and the flavors are impeccable. I loved the lamb shank, whose spice level seems okay at first, but then the heat builds as you eat (to be clear, this is a selling point and part of why I enjoyed it). The sauce was flavorful and the lamb was beautifully tender. The chicken tikka is also amazing with complexity to its flavors, and definitely don't skip out on the naan! Their apple beignet was also delightful. We will absolutely be back when we next visit DC. This is stop you MUST make when visiting. It's a little dark though, so bring a headlamp. (kidding!)

Rasika is a good Indian restaurant that offers a great dining experience. The food is delicious with excellent presentation, and the service is always very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend making a reservation since it's a very popular spot. Be aware that for large parties, you may be required to book a private room with a set tasting menu.

Regardless of type of cuisine, this Indian restaurant seemed to be the most recommended place we’ve gotten! We went during lunch time and every waiter and staff there was friendly and nice to us. They also have a pretty extensive menu to choose from!
Vicki — Google review
Recently visited Rasika hoping to have a first hand experience of next level Indian cuisine but it was all too disappointing. The place has either lost its charm or may be I was expecting it to stand apart from rest of restaurants around the block. The only highlight for me was the crispy spinach appetizers. Honestly, I could have eaten this as all 3 courses, partly coz it’s tasty and a newer take on an appetizer but also coz none of the other appetizers were good and don’t get me started on main course and dessert. Roti was okay, not too hard I guess and naan was nothing different than a roti. Lachcha paratha did taste a bit better than both. Vegetarian dishes for main course were no delight, too watery of a curry with loads of saffron and a silver leaf put in to make it look fancy and basically to cover up the taste of rest of the dish. Multiple menu options in vegetarian section were dishes which you can easily (in 10 mins) make it at home and may be even tastier. Malai palak was just a thick soup of cooked spinach run to a paste. No notes of any other taste. Rice doesn’t come standard with entrees which was a surprise as all other Indian restaurants do include rice along with the dish. Servers were fine, courteous and polite for most of the service, sometimes difficult to find once the restaurant had a few more tables occupied. Food came out decently fast. Overall prices were decent but I bet you can find better Indian restaurants within same price range for better food. Really no effort made to stand out from other restaurants and charge this much!

Good Indian food with great service. We tried the palak chaat, mixed grill, paneer as well as lamb kebab and everything was good. The dessert selection was a bit of a letdown but the black rice pudding was pretty good
Monika — Google review
I had always relied on Rasika as a go-to spot for special occasions and hosting out-of-town guests, but my most recent visit was quite disappointing. The food quality did not live up to past experiences. The entrées were noticeably small in portion size, served with a large amount of sauce, and the rice—charged separately—did not feel like good value. A more concerning issue was that I found metallic pot-scrubber pieces in my rice. When I brought this to my server’s attention, the response was casual and dismissive, with no effort made to address or remedy the situation. Similarly, when I expressed that I did not enjoy the rice-based dessert, I was told it was a popular dish but was not offered a substitute or any alternative. Overall, the lack of attentiveness and care left me very let down, especially given the restaurant’s past reputation for excellent dining. Based on this experience, I have not returned.

This was our first time in this restaurant and will definitely not be the last one. Fortunately kids under 8 years old are not allowed inside, so we had a table outside. The inside seemed very noisy. Food was delicious and served really fast despite the restaurant being packed on a friday night.

Fiola is a high-end restaurant that offers a blend of seasonal, nostalgic, and contemporary Italian dishes in a modern and upscale setting. The chef sources ingredients from Chancellors Rock Farm to ensure top quality. The restaurant provides two dining experiences: creating a tasting menu in the main dining room or enjoying an abbreviated menu in the Ezio Room. Fiola is known for its refined menu influenced by diverse regional Italian cuisines and an excellent wine program.
Wonderful service and fantastic food. This is one of the best Michelin experiences I’ve had in DC. It brings innovation to Italian food in ways I’ve never seen. The margherita risotto and deconstructed cannolis were fantastic and my favorites. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back! They also helped celebrate my partner’s birthday and service was professional and easy to talk to.

A one Michelin star restaurant with three Michelin star taste! We have dined in many Michelin star restaurants, including two former #1 rated restaurants: the 11 Madison Park and Osteria Francescana, and Fiola's taste and services rival any of these restaurants we've tasted so far. We were happy to tell the General Manager Kingga Boratyn that, and then she had the executive chef Antonio Mermolia came out to meet us and took pictures together. The food was as good as it can get and the service was impeccable. The Wine pairing was perfect with the 9 course Brumidi tasting menu. Definitely worth a visit.
Bin Z — Google review
We are visiting DC this weekend for the cherry blossom and reserved at Fiola in advance. When we made the reservation on Resy, we put in the dietary allergies & restriction in advance (e.g. strong smelled cheese such as goat or blue cheese) as I am seriously disgusted by their smell/flavor. However after we were seated, the waitress came and asked if we had any food restrictions as if what we shared before was neglected at all... Fine, I shared the restrictions again. Then guess what - in the very first course, 2 of the small bites had exactly the strong smelled cheese that I literally just mentioned. I had to spit out the food into the plate, and the smell lingered in my mouth and ruined my appetite for quite a while. I informed the waitress of the situation, and she merely took the dishes away and asked the chef to not use the cheese going forward - without making any remediation to the 2 dishes that I couldn't eat. This was truly an unpleasant experience. I would expect more for a Michelin star restaurant in terms of adjusting to customer's food restrictions. Besides that, the other dishes were mediocre at best.
Serena C — Google review
This was an outstanding experience and the food was outta sight. We did the 5 course tasting menu, and it was very filling. Between the two of us we split the fish and meat options. Comparing the courses, I would say the meat was better in two out of three instances, but they were both fabulous. Shout-out to our server Jessie, and the whole front of house staff, who made this a really special birthday. Thanks for answering all our curious questions and for the gifts. Every little thing was so thoughtful, and it was honestly touching. 12/10 experience. Highly recommended.

From start to finish, our evening at Fiola was absolutely exceptional. The food was nothing short of divine. Every course was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers on every detail, but Fiola truly exceeded our expectations. A huge thank you to Gannon, who was incredible throughout the night. His attentiveness, warmth, and genuine care made our dining experience feel personal and seamless. We also want to recognize Jared, whose expertise elevated the evening even further. His thoughtful wine pairings complemented each dish perfectly, he has a true gift for understanding both the cuisine and the guest experience. We left feeling completely taken care of, delighted, and already planning our next visit. Fiola is an absolute gem, elegant, welcoming, and unforgettable.

A true gem. Easily one of the best restaurants I’ve ever experienced, anywhere in the world. Fiola has become one of my absolute favorite restaurants, not just in the D.C. area, but globally. Every single visit has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we walk through the door, the manager Davide, Chef Antonio, and the entire staff (Kinga, Jess, Chris, Erin) make us feel completely at home. Their generosity, graciousness, and genuine hospitality are unmatched, every interaction feels heartfelt and sincere. What truly sets Fiola apart is that it’s authentically Italian, not in the superficial sense, but in the soul and spirit of what Italian dining is meant to be: warmth, care, and an unwavering dedication to excellence. Every dish reflects passion, artistry, and deep respect for tradition. We always leave Fiola feeling deeply impressed and grateful for such an unforgettable experience. The food, the people, and the atmosphere are all truly exceptional. This place deserves far more than just one Michelin star. In my opinion, Fiola is hands down my favorite restaurant in Northern Virginia and the D.C. area, and one that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Ben's Chili Bowl is a historic eatery that has been serving up spicy hot dogs, chili-cheese fries, and milkshakes since it opened on U Street in August 1958. The restaurant has played a unique role in the community, staying open past curfew during the 1968 race riots to serve activists, police, and firemen.
Awesome historic restaurant located next to the Lincoln Theater. Great chili, burgers, dogs, smokies, and fries. We’ve been there several times and always enjoy going back. If it’s good for celebrities and presidents it’s good for us! Reasonable prices and great food. Order at the counter and sit either inside or out. Would suggest the Metro or an Uber if going.

This is definitely a historic and iconic place, and I can see why so many people love it. The atmosphere is great, it really gives you that classic American vibe. As for the food, we liked it, but to be honest, I’d rate it 4 out of 5. French fries weren't our favorite. Also, they forgot one of the milkshakes we ordered, and we had to wait quite a while for it. It was finally brought out when we had already finished eating and were getting ready to leave.
Anastasiia S — Google review
A classic American diner with chili dishes and more. Juicy and tasty hot dogs, very good burgers and sandwiches. The fries are really good—I personally prefer them without cheese, as I think the cheese makes them a bit worse, but that’s just a matter of taste. If you want to dine in a typical tourist-style American diner, this is the right place for you. I had a burger with cheesy fries, then more fries and a hot dog. Everything was good, and the prices were fair! I would suggest improving the way order numbers are called out for dish delivery, since they are hard to hear because of the background noise and the loudspeaker. Also, I’d remove the fries served in the paper bag, which feel a bit underwhelming. Highly recommended!

This was an amazing experience for me! So much history in a landmark! The hot dog burst juice as soon as a put a fork in it! Delicious chili cheese fries and this homemade coconut cake with pineapple was SINFUL! The staff are so friendly, they make you feel right at home. Their original spot across the street is being remodeled, but there temporary space was just as amazing. You’ve won my heart, Ben’s Chili Bowl! I will be back! Cool merch as well. Not sure how I’m going to fit it!

Was disappointed the original is closed for renovations, but had a great experience here from start to finish. A guy outside - security or maybe just on break - saw I have a limp and a cane and opened the door for me which is always nice. Guy at the counter was patient and friendly about making recommendations. Now, the chili fries came out with no chili - I didn’t realize until after I took the photo and started eating, but the counter guy was very apologetic and brought me fresh ones without taking the originals - which were still pretty warm – away. Then he saw me starting to eat the originals after I finished the replacements with chili, and he offered to give me more chili for those originals. Hell yeah. Talk about making it right! And then, there’s a loop of history/media coverage of Ben’s that they play with sound on the TVs, which was a very cool experience. It elevated the whole eating experience watching the history and media coverage of the place as I ate! And the food was bomb. Other staff was very friendly and helpful too. Brought my food to my table when they saw my disability instead of making me walk up to the counter to get it, which I had no problem doing, but it was just nice. And then another staffer offered to take care of my dirty tray for me. A++

I have such a special memory tied to this place, I took photos there back in February 2025 for my school art show, and they came out perfect for my 60s-themed fashion project. A real taste of authentic Laos food restaurant and not just at a family home. Love the pungent and strong earthy flavors as well as the fermented fish. Make sure you can handle the flavor and most definitely handle the heat. I love love love it!

Main dining hall is very loud, felt like I was yelling when I try to speak to my friend across the table. However the food made up for the noise. I enjoy every dish we order, the fried fish is crunching and serve with sweet and sour sauce. Chicken laarb is so good I wanted another serving. Chicken liver skewer was yummy but I wish it was warm when they brought it out. Laos crispy friend was my favorite because it was flavor and season so well I didn’t have to add nothing!! Mango sticky right could have been a little heavier coconut cream cause. Way too runny

Thip Khao was a delightful experience from start to finish. We chose it because it’s part of the Chase Restaurant Collection, and it absolutely lived up to expectations. The service was warm and attentive, the atmosphere casual and relaxing. The food, however, was the true standout. Every dish impressed, each one bursting with flavor and personality. The steamed catfish wrapped in banana leaves stole the show, tender, aromatic, and perfectly seasoned. Eating the fish with sticky rice by hand was a fun, authentic touch that added to the whole experience. If you find yourself in Washington, DC, Thip Khao is well worth a visit.

The noodles were good. I suggest that honestly, stick to the noodle dishes. We order the moak, which was salmon steamed in a banana leaf. However, the fish TASTED fishy. It was lacking in a substantial flavor as well—it was fishy and had dill, but the dill did not permeate the flavor of the dish. My friend who had been here previously had a negative experience with the pork being too fatty as well. The noodles were good, but it tasted similar to Thai food, so I did not feel like I was trying a new cuisine at all. Disappointed, especially for the price point of this restaurant. The sticky rice was a good addition though. The only thing I was excited for in this restaurant is that with almost every dish, there was a multitude of meats available

We had a great meal at Thip Khao! We were a group of 4 and shared some apps, then ordered our own main dishes. We started with piing (chicken skewers), chuenh peek gai (chicken wings) and nahm tok salad. The meat on the skewers and salad were tender and so flavorful. The wings were very crispy and had a really good sauce on it. It also came with sticky rice. For my main dish I ordered the kee mao (drunken noodles) with chicken which was good and a good portion too. For drinks I had their Thai iced tea which was delicious and sweet. Service was great and we were checked on regularly. I made a reservation about 5 days in advance and it looks like they book up quick! It would be tough to grab a same day res so I recommend booking in advance.

We made reservations & were seated right on time upon arrival. Our server was kind and gave us suggestions on what to order. The food came out hot & delicious! I didn’t take pictures of everything we ordered. Our favorite was the Gaeng Phet (red curry dish), Chuenh Peek Gai (wings) & the sesame sticky rice dessert with coconut ice cream. The beef jerky appetizer was tasty but I would choose the wings over the beef. We can’t wait to come back to try more plates.

Maydan, a renowned restaurant by Rose Previte, offers a unique dining experience with its diverse culinary influences from Caucasian, North African, and Middle Eastern cuisines. The restaurant's decor and flavors reflect the team's extensive travels across the region.
Incredible restaurant - the vibe was immaculate. Everything from the exterior to the interior was so intricately decorated to make entering the restaurant feel like an experience. We reserved an indoor dining table and ordered the Tawle tasting menu. Such amazing value for the endless amount of food. When we visited in Feb 2025, the tasting menu was $85 per person. $85 in this economy (especially for a Michelin star restaurant) is insane when they give you such huge portions! Everything that was offered on their tasting menu was so flavorful from the spreads to the salads to the center plate. Even their flatbread was freshly baked and delicious. There is an outdoor seating option available but I would recommend snagging an indoor table if possible. Sitting inside and experiencing the ambiance of the restaurant while enjoying the exceptional food is an unparalleled experience. Being in a small tent outside will not do your visit justice. To reserve, you have to book through Resy. They only allow you to reserve a table 21 days in advance. I barely was able to book an indoor table once the slots opened right at 10am, so make sure to be diligent and plan ahead.

This was an amazing food experience. We did a la carte and shared. We took some great recommendations from our hostess Nadia. The food was great. We loved everything we ordered. I will come back again. I had the Belly Dancer cocktail. It is a must try.

The Tawle experience is the way to go! You truly feast on fresh, flavorful, and healthy dishes — every bite feels like a gastronomical adventure. The flavors, presentation, and warmth of the space make it such a perfect spot to share with friends. From the energy of the open fire to the communal style of dining, it’s an unforgettable experience that captures the essence of togetherness and great food. Highly recommend! Pro Tip: Get the Cauliflower!

Had a celebratory dinner in the other space—more lounge than restaurant. Pleasant and quiet. Efficient and friendly service. Food was good, but somewhat unmemorable except for the roasted mushrooms—excellent!. Shrimp skewer spiced but very dry. Whole chicken not available that night. Limited dessert options
Jeffrey M — Google review
Had a great experience here. The thing that stood out most to me was how the dishes were greater than the sum of its parts. What I mean by that is that when I just ate one of the ingredients or individual components of the dish, I found some things to be a bit too sour, or a bit too salty. But when combining things together, including the bread and the various condiments like labneh, tzatziki and zhough, I felt like everything got instantly enhanced with so many different flavors in one with everything being perfectly balanced and nothing being too strong. It seemed like the more things we mixed together, the better the taste got. We ended up going with the a la carte menu with the knowledge that the tawle experience would give more bang for your buck as there were a few things we wanted to try that was only on the a la carte menu. Everything was great, my favorites being the Muhammara and the Lamb Shoulder. The only thing I would not order again was the hummus. It was good, but as our server Terrence said, you can get hummus anywhere nowadays. We originally had a table outside but as it was quite windy they offered us a seat at the bar if we preferred, which we took. I observed some pros and cons to each option. For the indoor option, you got to see the beautifully decorated interior of the restaurant and the open kitchen concept. In our case, we would not have to deal with the elements. However, I found the indoor lighting to be a bit too dim and the music a bit too loud for my preference. I'm sure it's the ambiance they intended and most people probably like it, but that would be my personal nitpick. The outdoor will provide you with a quieter experience, although it's in a tent in an alley, which is far from the most picturesque scene. Lastly, one thing that left me with a good impression of the restaurant was that they didn't seem like a place that was built specifically to earn a Michelin star. It seems like something they had just achieved organically. The dishes were not overpriced and the environment was more casual, upscale but without any extra frills. Nothing felt over the top.

Cool place was confused where it was at first but found it. Really cool vibe with the grill in the middle. But sitting at the bar it does get a little hot. The beet yogurt dish was really good prob my fav dish I had. Roasted carrots where a little spicy Couscous wasn’t my favorite The roasted chicken was really good but unfortunately it was way over salted and I could taste the salt on my tongue and mouth for the rest of the night. Was really a disappointment because the chicken could have been amazing.
Ryan K — Google review
WOW! This place was worth the wait. We loved the food, ambiance, and service. There were 5 of us so we did the Tawle experience and we had so many leftovers because while we each ate so much we still had extras. Worth the money!
Ella B — Google review
Such a fun night out and a really authentic experience! If you do the 2-hour dinner, you’ll get lots of options, but it is pricey. Service and atmosphere was great! We sat outside. Such flavor! I had to pay to park and walk. Definitely make a reservation. If you cancel day of, you’ll lose $25 per person, but if you do it before that, they’ll refund you.

Baltimore/Washington International Airport

International airport
Airport
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is a convenient travel hub with direct rail service to Baltimore and Washington, DC. The airport offers free WiFi for travelers. Baltimore is known for its vibrant queer community, rich history, and diverse culture. New arrivals should consider factors like accommodation cost, lifestyle offerings, amenities access, and proximity to work when choosing a neighborhood. Families relocating to Baltimore prioritize family-friendly areas close to good schools.
Stopped thru on a layover mid week/mid summer. I’ve traveled all over the US, my first time at this one and I LOVE this airport!! It’s smaller, easy to navigate, lots of restaurants and food choices. The bathrooms were very clean and love the light system to show open stalls along with the sign outside the bathrooms (all airports need this!) Simple and clean!
Michelle — Google review
I didn't expect that Baltimore airport would be this big and clean. Impressive. The only thing I'm not sure it is a not a good thing or not is the carpet to the gates. It's a bit hard to go with carry on luggage. Not smooth. There are lots of restaurants too. Want to visit Baltimore in the future. This time around was just lay over.
Aung H — Google review
This is one of my favorite airports. It's easy to navigate. I've only been to concourse D. The bathrooms were clean. I enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs and looking at the planes. Lots of food choices...I saw The Green Turtle, Apple Annie's, Smoothie King, McDonald's, Dunkin' Donuts, and a food market. All the staff I came into contact with was friendly.

Among the hyperspace lanes of the Northeast, BWI shines like a well-placed navigation beacon. A trusted stop on my galactic journeys, this mid-size starport is a key stronghold for Southwest Airlines travelers — where flight plans run smoother than a Jedi’s lightsaber through butter. The layout is compact and efficient — easy to navigate even without a protocol droid or datapad. Food and shopping outposts are plentiful and, surprisingly, BWI is one of the more reasonably priced airports for meals and shops. A rare victory for travelers trying to protect their galactic credits. My go-to dining stop? Leann Chin, where the crew welcomes you like an old friend at the Jedi Temple, and the cuisine is strong with the wok-side of the Force. Behind the blue construction walls, the airport is undergoing a major transformation — a new A/B Connector spanning over 200,000 square feet (that’s roughly the area of two football fields), plus a high-tech baggage system stretching nearly two miles — longer than the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel! Once complete, travelers can expect smoother connections, expanded lounges, and upgraded restrooms worthy of the Galactic Council. Speaking of restrooms — many have already been modernized, offering comfort, space, and cleanliness that would make any traveler breathe a sigh of relief before their next hyperspace jump. ⚠️ Ground Transport Intel: The rental car facility is located off-site at 7432 New Ridge Rd., Hanover, MD 21076. Free airport shuttles run between the terminal and the rental car base, with pickup points at Doors 1, 11, and 16 on the lower level of Arrivals. Just note — shuttle delays can occur during peak hours due to driver shortages, so allow extra time for your mission. Still, the Force flows well at BWI. Friendly staff, fair prices, and visible upgrades make this a top-tier mid-size hub for travelers of all ranks — from Padawan tourists to seasoned Jedi business fliers.
Dain W — Google review
This is my second time using this airport and I found less rush and less crowded. AA customer service did good job for me .. Appreciate the agent working at desk during my departure time
Lila B — Google review
BWI is a really nice airport and super easy to use. I took the train up from Virginia Beach and flew out of the country from Baltimore, and the whole process was smooth. I also flew back into the U.S. through BWI, and going through customs was incredibly easy no stress at all. I’ve never had any issues here other than one small flight delay on a departure, but that’s pretty standard anywhere. The airport is clean, easy to navigate, and has plenty of places to grab food or relax before your flight. Overall, BWI is a solid, reliable airport whether you’re flying domestic or international.
Rachel F — Google review
Everything was outstanding except the transport assistance. I had a checked bag. He insisted on putting the bag on the wheelchair before we were ready, before the tag was put on. Each time a member of my family tried to pull it off the wheelchair he would grab it and shove it under again. We finally got it tagged and he started walking towards tsa. I stopped him and asked him why we still had the checked bag KNOWING there were things in there that could NOT go through TSA. He said it's fine its fine. Don't worry. I'm only able to stand for VERY short periods. I get through scanning, shaking in pain, only for tsa to start going through my checked bag. I tell them it's a checked bag and she's just as confused as me as to why this CHECKED bag is sitting on the conveyor belt with 16oz lotion, hygiene products well over 3oz. She tells me and the transport person the bag has to be taken back out to the delta counter. Now we have to all go all the way back out, drop the bag at Delta and go through TSA all over again. We arrived at the airport at 3:45 am. We got to our gate just before 5:00 am! I love the airport but will now have to go through the inconvenience of bringing my own chair and gate checking it. Not happy
Annie S — Google review
Convenient and easy to navigate. BWI is a solid airport with a good balance of convenience and amenities. It’s smaller than Dulles or Reagan, which makes check-in and security faster, but it can get crowded during peak times. The food court has some nice local options, vegetarian options are less could find only vegetarian salad options and the airport layout is simple enough for first-time travelers. My only complaint is that some gates have limited seating, but overall, it’s a reliable airport experience.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

Airport
Sights & Landmarks
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, located just across the Potomac River in Virginia, offers stunning views of the DC landscape during takeoff and landing. The airport features direct subway service into the city and is known for its easy accessibility. Adjacent to the airport is a park where visitors can experience planes landing from up close. The airport provides a great travel experience with clean facilities, efficient security, and plenty of dining options on each concourse.
Very easy airport to get around and super convenient. Security is smooth, especially with CLEAR. They’ve updated the Admirals Lounge and added a new Centurion Lounge and Capital One Lounge, which are great options if you have access. Big bonus that there’s a Metro stop right at the airport, so it’s really easy to get into D.C.
Dana D — Google review
This airport is the closest to downtown Washington DC. The location is amazing where it is convenient to take Metro Subway. The airport is kind of small but beautiful with good service, clean facilities, and fast WiFi. The view in the air is impressive along the river to the National Mall. I was feeling the airplane would land on the river. However, there are few restrooms at the Southwest terminal after security checks, so I exited for restrooms and went back doing the security check again.
Vincent L — Google review
My first time flying in to here was a fairly good experience. It's a smaller, older complex that was easy to navigate through and wasn't crowded at all. The concourse area has quite a few eateries. Everything is close to each other. My only gripe was that the bags took so long to come out, even for a small airport. We waited about 30 minutes. Not a big deal but just saying. Taxi departures were quick and easy. FUN TIPS: Due to its location, I got some excellent shots of the Mall & monuments before landing. They had an American Airlines jet on the tarmac that was painted with the old AA logo and design. Very cool.

A very nice airports! It is very efficient, when we walk to the belt we almost get our luggage immediately! The staff are very nice although it is crowded and busy . There are a lot of restaurants in the airports as well. The transportation is good, can take the metro blue line and yellow lines after walking in 10 minutes. Also the rental cars, uber, taxi and shuttles are very convenient!

A noble stronghold in the capital’s realm – compact, swift, but not without its scrolls of confusion. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is a well-guarded outpost near the heart of the empire. Unlike the giant fortresses of Miami or JFK, this one is cozy, efficient, and tailored more for the quick-strike adventurer than the globe-trotting wizard. Security lines? Surprisingly humane. Boarding? Often swift. Location? Unbeatable – mere minutes from the halls of power. But beware: signage is sometimes vague, food options limited like a village inn at midnight, and construction zones can spawn without warning like random encounters. Still, it gets you where you need to go – with honor, dignity, and minimal side quests. A solid 4/5 – the kind of airport where even a cleric wouldn’t lose his patience.
Der T — Google review
This is a pretty cool airport. It's modern, has cool displays, and has a good aesthetic. You can see the Washington monument and the capitol from here across the river, as well as Arlington. Nice amenities, and easy to navigate. However, there is just one really disappointing thing. While a metro station is at the airport, there is no people mover! I sincerely believe all good airports need a people mover. Still, it was great.
Penguin O — Google review
Very wide concourses. The walking area between concourses B, C, D, and E is undergoing some construction, but there is at least one coffee shop per concourse. Many fine restaurants and faster food shops are available (I even found a doggy treat vending machine). Clothing, book, and a Lego shop are here, too. Restrooms are plentiful and appropriately-sized.
Da C — Google review
DCA is one of the most convenient airports to get to, especially with the Metro running directly to the terminal. The first trains start around 5 a.m., which made it easy to catch a 7:30 flight without stress. TSA lines moved quickly and the entire process from entry to gate was smooth. The airport itself is clean, organized, and easy to navigate—overall a very efficient and traveler-friendly experience

Dulles International Airport

International airport
Airport
Dulles International Airport is the main airport serving the Washington D.C. area, located about 30 miles west of the city. The airport features a main terminal designed by Eero Saarinen and offers nonstop domestic and international flights to over 100 destinations with various airlines. While it brings millions of travelers through Virginia each year, some visitors have noted that it could improve its dining options, duty-free shops, and overall facilities.
I’ve been here multiple times and have enjoyed my experiences. Getting around the airport is easy and there are multiple options to go from place to place. The check in area is huge and looks amazing. Security can get busy some days, but is mostly easy to get through. There are plenty of options for food and seating. There are many lounges like the Capital One lounge and Chase Sapphire lounge. If flights are cheap, I recommend flying out of here.
Carter W — Google review
A functional stronghold, but no bard will sing songs about it. Dulles International Airport does the job – like a sturdy keep on the edge of the realm. It gets you where you need to go, but don’t expect enchantments or fanfare. Navigation feels like a side quest with poor map markers, and the shuttle trains between terminals add a touch of time travel (into the early 2000s). Security lines can feel like facing a gatekeeper with way too many riddles. That said, it’s clean, mostly efficient, and has enough food options to keep your party from starving. But ambiance? Let’s just say it’s more “orc camp” than “elven capital.” Verdict: Not a nightmare dungeon, but definitely not a critical hit either. Just roll your dice, pass through, and move on.
Der T — Google review
Even though there is no train system but its shuttles connect car rental center very well. The transit shuttle between the terminals is also a very smart and effective design. It’s a very cool airport.
Case H — Google review
Dulles International Airport serves the Washington, D.C. area and is a major hub for international and long-haul flights. The main terminal is architecturally striking, and the airport offers a wide range of global destinations. Recent improvements have enhanced dining and lounge options, especially for international travelers. However, the airport can be challenging to navigate due to long distances between gates and reliance on underground trains or mobile lounges. Some areas still feel dated, and public transit access is less convenient compared to other major U.S. airports!!!
Arch S — Google review
Quick layover at Dulles – does the job, nothing special Had a 3-hour connection here on our way home to California. The terminal is clean, spacious, and easy to navigate – the people-mover trains between concourses are fast and convenient. Plenty of seating at the gates (D concourse in our case), charging ports everywhere, and decent food options if you’re hungry. Not luxurious, not exciting, just a solid, no-stress American airport that gets you from A to B without drama. Exactly what we needed after two intense weeks in the Balkans. Wi-Fi worked fine, restrooms were clean. 3.5 stars rounded up because it never pretended to be more than it is.
A G — Google review
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is a clean, well-organized airport with plenty of amenities. Security lines usually move efficiently, and the staff are generally helpful and professional. The terminal layout is spacious and bright, which makes navigating between gates fairly easy. One thing to note is that depending on your gate, you may need to take the AeroTrain or one of the mobile lounges, which can add a few extra minutes to your trip — so plan ahead. Food and lounge options are solid, with a nice mix of quick bites and sit-down spots. Overall, it’s a good airport experience, and I appreciate how well it’s maintained compared to other large international airports.
Meir B — Google review
I love this airport; it's compact yet offers a great variety of food options. I also find entertaining watching the constant stream of planes taking off and landing.
LIA P — Google review
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is the main international airport serving Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States. Located in Dulles, Virginia, on the west side of Washington, D.C., the airport is named after John Foster Dulles, a local native who served as Secretary of State under President Eisenhower. Locals refer to the airport by its IATA code, IAD (International Airport at Dulles). It serves as United Airlines' eastern regional hub, serving a diverse range of international destinations, rivaling New York's JFK. The terminal building received an award from the American Institute of Architects in 1966, and the concourse facilities are also excellent. Transportation between terminals is provided by a uniquely designed mobile lounge vehicle. On November 15, 2022, the Dulles International Airport Station on the Washington Metro Silver Line, Section 2, opened, serving as an airport rail link. This station provides direct access to downtown DC, with a journey time of approximately one hour to McPherson Square Station, next to the White House.
