Art museum
The Kenosha Public Museum, established in 1933 and opened to the public in 1936, is a modern facility located at Kenosha's lakefront. It features a diverse range of exhibits and collections, including mammoth skeletons like the Hebior and Schaefer mammoths. The museum also houses the Wisconsin Story exhibit, showcasing the history of Native Americans in Wisconsin.
My daughter and I are visiting Kenosha for Christmas. This is a wonderful museum and a must visit if you are in the area. It's small but mighty with beautiful exhibits ranging from natural, science, and art. It's free admission (donation suggested) so it's a great place to visit if you are on a budget or need to pass an hour or two. There's also a great view of the lake. We loved all the animals dressed up in their Christmas gear. Their little hats and scarves were too funny. The Christmas train was lovely.
Valerie — Google review
Great museum, peaceful and quiet. However, we've been there a few times, and on 2 occasions, we we're followed around by a staff member. Other families weren't followed, but we've noticed the trend. Saturdays are great, right outside is the Kenosha harbor market. Great family time!
Daisy — Google review
Absolutely loved our visit to the museum. The exhibits were fabulous and our kids didn’t want to leave! Definitely would recommended!
Ben S — Google review
It's a wonderful free educational museum
Angie L — Google review
Always such a great place to visit. Beautiful museum in a gorgeous setting, enjoy the views of the lake.
Bobby R — Google review
Such a precious place for both adults and kids. Spent 4 hours easily. So realistic exhibits and feel like you walk into the village and life of Native Indians. 2nd floor has unique curiosity collections and realistic animal exhibits. There was also art exhibits going on on the 2nd floor when we visited. 2nd floor also has some miniature carved art works. Little gift shop has interesting global collections. Loved the curiosity play area/classroom set up. Materials are arranged in cabinets that can be used to make stories or plays. Haven’t seen such set up anywhere else before. Fully enjoyed the visit.
Loges — Google review
This free 2 storey museum will take you on a journey from the big bang to modern times. Plenty of reading material along with reconstructed exhibits from the timeline of earth's entire existence. The bottom floor has a gift shop and a huge kids playroom.
Brittany — Google review
Well maintained public museum. No parking fees or entry fees just a little donation would do (again not mandatory). Clean and nice . Felt good that small kids and families are having a informative outing along with fun 😊

Dinosaur Discovery Museum

Mentioned on
10 lists
Natural history museum
Museums
The Dinosaur Discovery Museum in Kenosha, Wisconsin is a small but fascinating museum that explores the connection between dinosaurs and modern birds. Housed in a historic landmark building, it boasts the largest collection of skeletal casts of meat-eating dinosaurs in the country. The museum features permanent and traveling exhibits, including an interactive display called Little Clint: The Story of a Baby Dinosaur. Visitors can expect to see popular dinosaur skeletons like T.Rex, allosaurus, and acro.
Loved it. I've been to bigger displays but few with a specialty and a great display. The volunteers were friendly and knew their stuff. The building itself is interesting, as the original post office and moved from its original location. Great place to spend a half hour or hour. The downstairs work area is small and there's space for kids with toys and activities. I especially liked the kids costumes upstairs to get them involved.
Derek D — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit here! It’s free/donation based and really welcoming staff. The skeletons they have are so great to see, signs are well written. The basement with the lab and kids activity area was great as well. My son could have stayed and played all day!
Kyla W — Google review
We've been to the Dinosaur Discovery Museum twice now, and my 5 and 3 year olds love it! The interactive play spaces are great for their age. It takes you through all of the steps a paleontologist would take on a dig. You have the big dinosaur fossils to look at and little spaces to touch them. Downstairs is more open, imaginative play area, coloring, Books, and you can look in on what the staff are currently working on! $3 suggested donation is a very reasonable cost.
Kari S — Google review
Very small free museum with one main gallery and a discovery room downstairs with puzzles and places for kids to play. If you need to get out of your house with a small child in the middle of winter and looking for a place to burn an hour, it is worth a visit. The building has clean bathrooms and the staff are friendly.
J P — Google review
The exhibit is amazing! My daughter was fascinated by the presentation! There is a working paleontology lab there as well. The staff was helpful and very pleasant!
John M — Google review
Impressive one-room museum! I was worried by some reviews it would be small. Well.. it’s small but packed!! Our toddler LOVED it and it was just the right size and time amount for him! Donations accepted instead of tickets, but surprisingly a lot here to enjoy, when the Chicago Field Museum seems like a lot, and this was focused primarily on just dinosaurs!(Which is what drew us the most!) We enjoyed walking through the large room a few times taking our time, then enjoying the front entrance area where there are some kid-friendly activities - costumers/puzzles/ hands-on exhibits. Downstairs (basement) there is an official dinosaur lab and an open toy/play area! Also a dig box for fossils! Very pleasantly surprised coming from about an hour away-drive. Our little Dino-lover LOVED it!
Ashley S — Google review
This museum is AWESOME! First, when you pull on to the brick road you're immediately transported to a different world! There was ample free parking on a Thursday afternoon. The building itself used to be a beautiful post office, converted to a beautiful museum. I love the architecture! When you go inside, you will see an interactive area, specifically designed for children. There is the grand room filled with molds and bones of dinosaurs! There were many informational signs - I learned a lot! The museum itself is tiny, but they truly maximize the space! I love that they have a scavenger hunt available! When you walk downstairs, there is a Dinosaur themed play area, with a window to showcase one of their current projects! We saw the skull of a triceratops, which appeared to be worked on! We loved reading a book and playing with Dinosaur themed toys before heading to the Public Museum just down the road! We explored the entire museum in about 1 hour - perfect for a 3 year old adventurer! We will return again soon!

This was ok to stop and walk around in recommend more with kids especially downstairs. Staff were informative,

Civil War Museum

Mentioned on
10 lists
War museum
Museums
The Civil War Museum in Kenosha is a part of the museum campus on the Lake Michigan shoreline. It showcases the history of Civil War soldiers from the upper Midwest region through relics and exhibits. The museum was built simultaneously with a new natural history museum and a building to house it, all while excavating for mammoths on local farmland.
This museum focuses on Union Soldiers from this region, and tells their story with life-size dioramas, talking mannequins, and a well made short film - Seeing the Elephant.
Danny — Google review
Excellent museum with a focus on the roll of the upper Midwestern states. Plenty of artifacts, many assigned to specific Midwestern soldiers and their stories. Cool life-size dioramas with mannequins dressed in period clothing. Will take no less than two hours to get through it all. Definitely get a map at the front desk or you will get lost. The ten-minute film, narrated by Bill Curtis, is excellent except for the fact that it’s presented in-the-round, which requires you to be constantly turning around to see what’s happening. It would be a much better experience if it was presented on a wide screen with seats, theater style. Very difficult to watch for those of us with limited mobility and a crick in our neck. That said, go visit this museum.
Kathleen D — Google review
Amazing place! Visiting the area from Florida and came across this gem. Museum is very well put together and alot of information. Was laid out perfect and we all enjoyed our time here
Scott Z — Google review
A great place to learn about history. The displays are very interesting and well put together and the Docents are very knowledgeable and friendly and encourage questions. It’s very pretty around Christmas time as well.

History helps you to understand present & future better.! Instant thought to get into the museum turned out to be a best decision of the day.! 360° theatre was nice experience in Lower level 1. There is lot to read great stuffs. You will enjoy if you’re interested in history + current affairs.! Entry Ticket price is $9/adult. Kids free. My 3 yo lil one enjoyed kids history room on upper level 1. Lot fun stuffs to see & feel mid 19th century life. Miniature home of Abe Lincoln was catchy to us. Got some good stuffs in gift shop. Spent around 1 hour in Civil War Museum first floor & 30 minutes at kids history room second floor. Perks: nice overview of calm Lake Michigan 😍

Amazing experience, it was much bigger than I expected and had tons of information and artifacts to see. Took about 3 hours if you plan on reading a lot of the information. Free for children 15 and under and 9 dollars for adults. They have a good sized gift shop full of books and souvenirs. Finally the staff were very kind and helpful. I will be coming back in the future.

Mars Cheese Castle

Mentioned on
2 lists
Cheese shop
Bakery
Mars Cheese Castle is a renowned cheese shop and bakery in Kenosha, known for its assortment of meats, spreads, and small souvenir store. Kenosha itself is famous for the Mars Cheese Castle and other attractions like the Bristol Renaissance Faire and its electric streetcar. The castle offers a unique bloody mary recipe dating back to the early 1980s that promises a flavorful journey with two different kinds of heat in every sip.
Mars Cheese Castle is a must-stop for anyone traveling through Wisconsin with even a passing interest in local flavor. The selection of Wisconsin-themed gifts is impressively broad—from fun, quirky souvenirs and t-shirts to authentic local goods that make for perfect take-home gifts or personal treats. The store is beautifully laid out and makes it easy to explore both the novelty and the genuinely artisanal. What truly blew me away, though, were the cheese curls. I’m not claiming they’re the best in the world—I haven’t tried every cheese curl out there—but they are, without question, the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly crunchy, bold in flavor, and oddly addictive. The staff here also deserves high marks. Friendly, efficient, and happy to share recommendations without being pushy, they added a sense of warmth to the experience that made the stop feel more like a visit to a local institution than a tourist trap. Highly recommended.
Tony S — Google review
I don't enough words to explain how awesome this place is. An incredible variety of not only cheeses but so many other things: candy, shirts, snacks, condiments, goofy stuff, cards and stickers, beer and alcohol, fresh bakery items. In addition, they have a bar area and a little restaurant. I got the "classic "grilled cheese, which had actual cheddar cheese in it, not American, and when I did the cheese pull, it was about 2 feet long, which was cool. It came with fries that were perfect and I ordered a side of bacon, which was thick and crispy, just how I like it. You can have your picture taken with a cow, a mouse and on a throne! Fun place, even if you don't like cheese!
Leslie S — Google review
A fun stop, but I wish they would have all of the local products labeled. Many of the things they have (like the jams and the jellies and crackers) are from other areas of the country. I’m from a town where we produce a lot of local products, and so the stores label them. Even the grocery stores! Because I really want to shop local. It’s Clear the beer was local, But I would’ve loved all of the local cheeses to have been labeled as such. And if they had other local products, just put a big sign up that says “local” because I really want to support local farmers etc. All that said, this is a lot of fun (As you can see from the photos). They also had a pretty amazing wine selection, and they had some local beverages as well, and again, it would’ve been great if they had a big sign up that said “buy local!” They had a mix-and-match for the local beer. Which I love! So we brought home a mixed six pack. We also brought home some of the cheese that they had offered for tasting, which seemed very local. And I love that they have the cheese to taste as well. Restrooms were clean. My husband had a Reuben and he said the pastrami was good, but they didn’t have it on the correct bread. A Reuben should be on rye bread. They had an alternative.
Lockie H — Google review
Mars Cheese Castle was founded in October 1947 by Mario Ventura Sr. and Martha Ventura in a renovated old school building in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. The name "Mars" comes from Mario's first name (Mario ≈ Mars) and Ventura's mother's Italian concept of a castle, so "Cheese Castle" also implies both "castle" and "cheese kingdom." Initially a small cheese shop, it expanded and relocated (the original shop was rebuilt after a fire in 1957). It wasn't until 2011, during the reconstruction along Interstate 94, that the current, more castle-like location was built. It has become an iconic roadside attraction and symbol of Wisconsin cheese culture. 💫 The atmosphere: The exterior resembles a small castle, and the large sign is easily visible from the highway. Upon entering, the aroma of cheese, bread, and sausage is breathtaking, instantly making you feel like you've arrived in "cheese lover's paradise." 🧀 Must-see Highlights: • Over 700 cheese varieties! In every flavor and shape, you'll be constantly thinking, "I want to try that too!" "That looks so special!" • Restaurant + Bar Area: Sit down with a Wisconsin beer and a Reuben sandwich or cheese bread – it feels like a little luxury during your trip. • Gift Area: Perfect for giving family and friends some "only-in-Wisconsin" souvenirs. 📸 Photo Tip: The castle exterior + the cheese display area + the bar stools – this three-way combination is a must! Remember to choose a sunny day; the reflections off the cheese display windows are beautiful. ⚠️ Weekends can be crowded, so leaving early might be easier. While cheese lovers will love it, if your group isn't a cheese fan, you can order hot food or drinks from the restaurant so everyone can find something they like. Remember to bring cooler or freezer bags when buying cheese, especially if it's summer or a long drive.
Sianna L — Google review
We went to the Cheese Castle on our way to where we were going for a business trip. There are so many types of cheese and beef sticks for sale inside of the store, you could spend hours in there finding new different kinds. There are also a lot of cool decorations inside of the place, and the gift shop is nice too
M-L O — Google review
Awesome place to get a variety of Wisconsin cheeses. I chose to stick with cheese from MARS CHEESE CASTLE since that's where we were shopping. They had a few cheese samples out to try and each one was delicious. More than just cheese: lots of other grocery items, ice cream, souvenirs, etc. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy but not overcrowded. Checked out in under five minutes. All employees were pleasant and helpful. A must-see if you're headed to Kenosha!
MaryLou H — Google review
Impromptu stop while in Wisconsin. I’ve been coming here for years. My favorite place for cheese. Such a huge variety. I always try something different. That’s what’s to cool about Mars. They always have different samples of cheese to try. Or if not already available, they will give you a slice of cheese you are wanting to taste. Yummy 😋 😋 Today’s purchase was Smoked Mozzarella, Bellavitano Cheese, Sartori Sharp Cheddar, Havarti, and the all time famous WI String Cheese 🧀. Such a cool spot. It also has a deli and a bar- restaurant. A nice selection of specialty beers and sodas too. A must check out right off interstate 🛣️.
Andi D — Google review
Fabulous cheese shop, tavern and restaurant. Easy to get to. Lots for kids and adults. Cute merchandise. Seems like hundreds of cheese options. Cheese and bakery samples. Great selection of local beers and liquors. We ate at the cafe. Cheese curds and chili were delicious!

Historical society
The Kenosha History Center, situated on the harbor of Kenosha, is a museum dedicated to showcasing the rich history of Kenosha County. Managed by the Kenosha County Historical Society, it consists of two buildings: one focusing on the county's history and the other housing the Southport Light Station Museum, a restored lightkeeper's home and lighthouse.
Free admission free parking very well done historical displays takes you you back in time . There is a small gift shop and even a lighthouse open next door. Great way to spend an educational quiet afternoon. Price for lighthouse to see the top is $10. Great view to take in
DeMaster T — Google review
I wanted to go see the lighthouse but it was closed until May so he took a tour. Having lived here all my life and being a history buff I still learned a lot here! My daughters were even impressed; everybody knows the cool history of Nash and AMC.. put so much more came out of this little town! I mean I did know about the typewriter and the QWERTY keyboard but no idea about Simmons mattresses. And a few other things go there yourself and find out

visited a few weeks ago to kill some time before my next stop in the area. nice place to walk around. organized exhibits, many interactive. they have a penny presser machine so bring your change!! volunteer tim (sorry, that might be the wrong name) was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. he offered additional material to help expand my knowledge of the area and provided information on guided walking tours- even going so far as to print details out for me! appreciated the kindness & unexpected stellar service from staff. for a free museum i have 0 complaints.

This is one of the best local history museums I have ever been to. The curator is an amazing person that makes you want to get into all of the exhibits. It’s a great layout and the rotating sections make you want to go back more and more.

Great museum to visit, nice old historic stuff, great people working there. Some of the exhibitions have barcode to be able to watch instantly. I really enjoyed the place.

This is a very nice little museum. I never knew that existed until we stumbled into it. I was there with two of my sons and we all love museums, so this find was a little treasure ready to be discovered. Since I am a photographer, I always take a lot of photos and this place was no exception. Enjoy the pictures.

Amazing place to learn about the history of Kenosha from the 1850s through the late 20th century. It's small but we spent over an hour inside and planning on going back again to see and learn about things that we missed or skipped over. Very nice gift shop. Went in the afternoon on a Tuesday, no wait and only a few other people there.
Ava B — Google review
We were in the area for the lighthouse and stumbled onto the Center. What a find! Great artifacts and stories from the area, and even a few locally produced cars and engines on display from AMC and Nash. The wall of nostalgic toys was a memory trip. Highly recommend a visit!

Kenosha (Southport) Light Station

Mentioned on
8 lists
Maritime museum
Museums
Nestled in Simmons Island Park, the Southport Light Station Museum is a charming piece of history that dates back to the 1860s. This beautifully restored lighthouse and keeper's residence offers visitors a glimpse into Kenosha's maritime past through its engaging exhibits on local fishing and shipping. Standing at 55 feet tall, guests can ascend the 72 steps to enjoy breathtaking views from the top while learning about the significance of this site as Kenosha’s third lighthouse tower.
VISITED SUNDAY OCTOBER 6, 2024. I love light houses. They are spectacular land marks that represent amazing, meaningful history. This was my 2nd visit and learned much more about this light house visiting the museum and getting an enlightened info from the museum docent who sadly his name evades me. I couldn’t believe his memory bank was full of facts and stories to share. To top off, he mentioned a ship that my father-in-law used to talk about when he lived, brought shivers down my spine as well as tears. Include a visit here when you are in the area.

Wonderful experience!!! Full of history and great stories!!! Our guide was TOP NOTCH!!! He said he has been doing this 15 years!!! They are lucky to have him!!! He was easy to listen to and had fantastic stories!!!! we need to ho back just to listen to more!!!!

The Kenosha History Center has done a great job restoring this 1866 lighthouse and Lighthouse Keeper’s house (open from mid-May through October). We climbed to the top of this 55-foot lighthouse and learned details of the history from the highly intelligent, knowledgeable, and personable tour guide, who also built some of the ship models in the museum. Conversing with him about history and music (since we are also musicians) was the highlight of our day! We also had a delicious lunch across the street at the Yacht Club restaurant, which is open to the public.
J Z — Google review
On August 17, 2024, my friends and I made a point of visiting this site. The lighthouse was nice and the museum was informative and the displays were nice. The grounds were nicely kept. After that, the rest of the experience was not ideal. The”assistant keeper” and “principal keeper” were not friendly. Didn’t even greet us or even acknowledge us when we walked into the keeper’s quarters. I work at a lighthouse as a historical interpreter/museum educator and was very disappointed in the interaction and lack thereof. As for Ron, the “principal keeper”, his information was not right and even went as far as to make me feel degraded for the knowledge of historical lighthouse operations. Very happy I got my stamp cause I’m not coming back here and will only recommend it to those needing the stamps.
Lawson M — Google review
You don't even know how much you don't know about lighthouses! Sure, I climbed the 72 steps to the top of the lighthouse. Yes, the views were amazing & I took plenty pictures. An , of course, I now want my own lighthouse! The unexpected treasure was the history & explanation of how lighthouses function. The 'keeper' was a plethora of information, which, he shared willingly.
Andre P — Google review
We had the opportunity to visit this very interesting museum on 9/8. Docent / Caretaker Ron was extremely knowledgeable regarding lighthouses and ships all around the Great Lakes. Climbing to the top of the tower added perspective on the important work performed by caretakers long before gps existed. Informational displays in the house itself were well done. The admission is no charge (with a contribution appreciated). There is a charge of $10 to climb the tower.
Ken W — Google review
Amazing! Ron told us the history of the location and provided excellent background into the development of the Fresnel lense. Fascinating and a great example in the museum! The upper level was a history lesson in shipwrecks, notably the Wisconsin. Don't miss out on walking up the 55' tower either (small fee).
Bikes W — Google review
The place is stunning. Really enjoyed reading the history of the lighthouse and location. The choice of brick was superb. Unfortunately the pictures I took are not very good because of the time of day. Would have liked to gotten better ones with the sun directly on the front.

Went to Planets and Pancakes the other day and it was such an ethereal experience! We pulled up at 3am and it was a tad spooky! There wasn’t any signage really but we followed the red lights into the middle of the main field to the conservatory. Once we came upon the observatory we saw a handful of people milling about. I think it might have been better if they had someone that was hosting: maybe welcoming people and explaining what was happening. I wasn’t sure who was in charge, but there were a handful of people that seemed to know what we were looking for. That being said, it was friendly enough and they had a supply of zero gravity chairs for star viewing. They have multiple telescopes all of amazing quality: one specializes in seeing planets, another targets a star’s exact coordinates! After an hour of being out there in the chilly morning air; I started to wonder when they might initiate the pancakes. We wandered to the main building and noticed two children manning the griddle. I was a tad grumpy at 4:30am and started to wonder when we would get the pancakes we were awaiting. The kids seemed confused as to what was happening, but got along fine after some goading from the adult I can only assume was in charge of them. The pancakes ended up being a cute menagerie of stars and planets that were different colors! They also provided maple syrup that had been tapped from the local trees. While I loved our evening/morning, part of me felt underwhelmed by what was offered for forty dollars between my partner and me. I do understand they need to raise money though so I know it goes to a good cause.

A truly gorgeous and underrated place. I definitely recommend spraying yourself with bug spray and bringing a hat, cuz the wilderness can and will kick your butt. It's a good walk even for those who never hike, and it's wonderful to visit year round. Please donate, as this place is non-profit and relies on donations.

This is a little gem in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I wish I found it sooner. Beautiful trails with Halloween accents since it's October. Well preserved forest with multiple signed trails. We did not explore the entire place, but we plan to go back very soon.

This place is beautiful. I plan on attending a night hike sometime this summer. Great place to bring the kids and let them see a one room school house. The owners are amazing for keeping up with the place. Beautiful flowers growing, a great place to have weddings, very peaceful and clean. I would recommend anyone come and enjoy the scenery. Make sure to bring cash so you can give a donation as they do not charge to enter.

I absolutely love places like this. The old buildings amongst the idyllic landscape are absolutely amazing, and allow you to go and explore at your own leisure, well kept and respected by most patrons. If you're looking to walk or jog around, or you need a place to take photos this place is the ticket

Laura is great to work with! I enjoyed coordinating a wedding here last weekend. It's a gorgeous venue! I want to come back, both for business and on my own simply to explore.

Put this in your GPS now even if you can't go right away, if you love hiking and nature this is the place to be visiting! My visit was limited to a small portion of this nature sanctuary due to severe weather and other things. This place is kept tidy, as you enter the drive from the street it feels like you're imposing on someone's property. The driveway is maybe 1/4 mile and there's a small parking lot. There seems to be some sort of indoor facilities, I suspect a gift and information shop, but I hadn't entered. There are plenty of signs indicating which trails you're going to and there are maps and brochures by the building that you pass on the way. I stepped on the trail to be welcomed by a bunch of mosquitos but I pushed on, the trail is well-kept and clean and the fauna is amazing. On this hot day in the 90s I anticipated the mosquitos would be much worse, and as I was wondering why they weren't I caught a glimpse of damselflies all over the place. Since they eat mosquito larvae it seems they were doing their part to keep this park in balance. The sights that I came upon were amazing and I can see why professional photographers would setup professional shoots for clients here. There are benches for resting or just to enjoy the nature around you. I saw a lot of options for the trails and some were themed such as the flower one. I enjoyed going alongside the river, hearing the water moving along the rocks. I sometimes have bad luck with wildlife and once again I heard more than I saw, and I saw more than I could shoot. This hideaway is a hidden gem that I never knew about despite living in Kenosha for many years, and I will definitely be coming back often. I plan to explore every part of this sanctuary & arboretum. Please be mindful and respectful of ongoing restoration projects.

Stunning historical landmark along Lake Michigan. Went here for a tour, and I don't regret it. I love that they offer tours and keep this beautiful piece of history open to preserve their memories and significance in Kenosha. I highly recommend checking out!

Update: Unfortunately we cannot add new reviews, but I toured the mansion today. Durkee Mansion: I was met by three lovely ladies and had a great conversation with them. I have an interest for old solid structures and I love mansions. I'm attaching pictures although some of them could be better. Review on music venues: I enjoyed some of the venues that played here this past summer and the setting is nice. During events, parking can be difficult but in my experience getting there a little early helps a lot. I missed the Suffrage Jazz event this year.

I had my wedding at the Kemper Center this past weekend, and I have to say, the chapel is absolutely stunning! It was smaller, so we were able to use Ambrose Hall which was gorgeous as well, over looking the lake. Every single guest we had made comment about the beauty of the building. Lots of great memories from this day! And I must say include, the new executive director was SO nice! I wish he could have worked with us on the wedding, what a great guy! All in all, book them! It was such a beautiful day!! 😍😍😍

We have only been outside of the building, but it is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained and it’s a great place to take photographs. My son loves walking around and looking for rocks here.

There are so many offerings here. Beautiful lake front path to walk, charming building's colorful flower gardens and a soccer field. Was not in the building this visit but the artist studios have been an eclectic mix of medias in the past.

Kemper's Lakeside Lounge hosts musical events on the shore of Lake Michigan. Good truck in the parking lot, full bar inside, and a wonderful evening sitting on your lawn chair with friends.

Farmers' market
Kenosha HarborMarket is a vibrant European-style market located in downtown Kenosha, hosting over 150 vendors each week during the outdoor season. It offers a wide variety of fresh organic produce, meats, cheeses, and flowers, as well as delicious prepared foods and beverages. Established in 2003, it is known for its top-quality goods and homemade products. In the summer, visitors can enjoy live music and special events while shopping for local goods at the harbor.
07/13/2024: I visited the market again today. We purchased a few things and tried some new food while we were there. Great place to find just about anything. If you don't see anything you like, at least you got out and got some sun and exercise. Check out the lakefront and parks while you're there.

Local at its best! So much variety. If in the area, definitely add this to your plans. Just don't forget to bring bags to carry all the amazing finds!
Wendy K — Google review
Such an awesome market!! It has a little of everything. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd like to find - wholesome, inviting, all the sights & smells - makes you smile before you even set foot in it! The people are friendly & the prices are so much better than the grocery stores - especially considering you're getting healthy produce not sprayed with who knows what. Definitely worth the drive from Racine!
Tamara D — Google review
Dozens of vendors selling all kinds of stuff. No junk here, like sham-wows or Ginsu Knives, but not everything is local. Great lakeside outdoor venue. Perfect for a summer day.
Mark D — Google review
This market is huge, took a long time to walk from one end to the other and back again, and such a variety of things! There are jewelry and textile artists and other makers, besides produce and cheeses and meats, and lots of tempting food trucks and stands, including a surprising number of gluten free options. Street parking was fairly easy, and the lake breeze was refreshing on the very hot summer day we were there. I appreciate that this market is open until 2:00, since many close at noon, so you can take your time browsing.
Kristin D — Google review
The Kenosha Harbor market was super busy, had lots of great booths and food. I loved the variety of food trucks. Wasn’t a ton of fruits and veggies that I saw, but I suspect that will change as we approach summer. 💜

Interesting market with lots of individual vendors and artisans. Not as many actual produce vendors as I expected, lots of food choices. This is a great setting on the water and people were really nice. We plan to go back again this season!

Museums
Located in the historic Monroe Building on Michigan Avenue, the Pritzker Military Museum & Library is a captivating institution dedicated to preserving and educating visitors about US military history. The museum houses an extensive collection of artifacts, films, books, and photographs that showcase key moments in history. From WWII propaganda posters to letters from soldiers at war, the museum offers a comprehensive look at America's military past.
Very clean and well organized. How often do you get a library and a museum at the same place?? I enjoyed my visit there saw a lot of display of the ww1 crafts and badges and read some of the history being displayed on the wall. You get to watch the video about the history on the TV on 3rd floor. So after my museum tour I came back to 2nd floor to study my books got 2 in one! But I think 3rd floor is more quiet if you choose to study and the library/museum is not free you will have to pay $5
Sarah R — Google review
I enjoyed going here! We luckily went here when they had free admission (it was July 3rd). The exhibits were nice, and I hope to see more introduced soon.
Kirsten B — Google review
This place has a lot of guts* calling themselves a museum and charging an admission fee. There is literally near nothing to see. If you want to visit, just walk around the building. You're missing nothing going inside.
Travis G — Google review
A very small museum which currently focuses on the career of famed cartoonist Bill Mauldin. It has works ranging from his early schooling in the 1930s all the way through to the 90s. There is also an alcove dedicated to medal of honor recipients. Sad that most of the blurbs about how they earned the honor end with "he sacrificed his Iife in service to his country"... Still, interesting and not to touristy. Worth a look for the military history buff.
Brian E — Google review
It's $5 but it should be free. What IS there is interesting but I don't think there should be a charge.
Ben — Google review
I was very excited to go to this museum to research more about my grandfather and great grandfather. Unfortunately it was a really really small war museum. I upgraded at the counter to get the membership to use the library and there were only 4 shelves of war books on location. It does come with a digital access and I guess in Wisconsin they have a larger library they can loan their books to a reciprocal library.
T-M B — Google review
A very nice little museum. I came specifically to see the trench art, but enjoyed the entire collection.

Wonderful museum devoted to those who serve...a real inspiration! Located directly across the street from the Art Institute of Chicago, in one of Chicago's many historic and beautiful buildings. I just saw the POW exhibit, Life Behind the Wire. This is such an important exhibit to see...a whole lot to really take in. We can't and won't ever forget the individuals who sacrificed their own freedom and lives so we can be free!

If you're in Kenosha, Wisconsin, don't miss out on The Spot Drive-In, a beloved late-night drive-up eatery that has been serving up mouthwatering burgers and homemade root beer since 1945. This nostalgic spot is perfect for those craving classic American fast food with a twist. You can indulge in an array of deep-fried delights, from crispy fries to rich milkshakes and even refreshing orange soda.
Our waitress was awesome. The food was awesome! As a fellow small business we love to support other local businesses around! We at Color cocktail factory could not say more positive words about this awesome drive in! The crispy shrimp were so fresh and hot and the cheeseburger was delicious! Keep up the great work!

Once again I found another great spot to eat after a car show. My favorite thing about this place is that the servers bring the food to your car and hook it to your window like the old days. The food was delicious, the server was very nice and their homemade root beer was great.

Quick service taking our order. Burgers came shortly. They and the spicy green beans were very good. Waitress was very personable. Place would be excellent to visit on a summer evening when the car cruising is happening. Watch out if you're using Google maps to locate it as it gives confusing directions.

The Spot has great food and is a fun place to stop in sit in your car if you like and eat.The double cheeseburgers were a big hit today!!! Very tasty and delicious 😋 Lot's of item's to choose from including large ice cream menu. The food is fresh and tasty 😋 We highly recommend!!

We stooped in late one night after work. This place was definitely a cool experience. No inside seating, walk up window or the will come to your car and hand a tray on your window. They dont take cards and there is a creepy closet with an ATM inside. Staff was very friendly and told us all about the menu. The good: homemade root beer and orange soda was absolutely 💯 delicious. We also had shakes for dessert which was on point! The bad[ish[, the burgers and fries are really nothing to write home about sadly. They are greasy ive had to much to drink burgers. If I was out partying all night this burger would be an awesome end to the night. Overall I would give it a 6 outta 10 because of the vibe and the root beer.

A Kenosha Drive-In Gem: The Spot Shines Bright! If you're craving a true slice of retro Americana with top-notch eats and unbeatable service, look no further than The Spot Drive-In in Kenosha. Tucked away in the heart of town, this classic spot delivers everything a drive-in should—and then some—leaving us utterly hooked after our latest visit. We rolled up hungry for the basics: juicy cheeseburgers and crispy fries. Let me tell you, those burgers are a revelation—grilled to perfection with melty cheese that oozes just right, fresh toppings that pop with flavor, and a bun that's toasted to golden glory. No soggy disappointments here; every bite is a symphony of savory bliss. The fries? Golden, hot, and seasoned like they've got a secret family recipe—crunchy on the outside, fluffy within, and impossible to stop munching. But the real magic happened when our carhop, a total rockstar named (okay, I didn't catch her name, but she deserves a raise), caught wind of our cherry soda dreams. Apparently, they weren't on the menu that day, but she sweet-talked the kitchen crew into whipping up a couple anyway. Fresh, fizzy, and bursting with that tart-sweet cherry kick—straight out of a '50s soda fountain fantasy. It's that kind of personal touch that turns a meal into a memory. And honestly? How folks still flock to that other burger drive-in across town is beyond me. Bland patties, limp fries, and zero charm—it's like comparing a Polaroid to a pixelated screensaver. The Spot isn't just better; it's in a league of its own, blending nostalgia with flawless execution every time. Roll in soon, tip your carhop generously, and thank me later. Five stars, no question—Kenosha's crown jewel! 🌟🍔

The food is always great. You just have to get past the meanest waitress lady ever who has been there for a million years yet never seen crack a smile. All other waitresses are awesome. The mean older lady is one of the rudest people I’ve encountered. If you have thick skin go for it and push through because the food is good.

Phenomenal food. People aren't kidding about trying the French onion soup, it is great. My boyfriend absolutely loved it. I think I would prefer if the cheese were gooey. I had the bisque soup and loved it. Main courses were the aji tuna poke bowl (special of the day) and a burger. We loved our meals. Dessert was meh (peanut butter cheesecake and carrot cake). Service was great. We reserved online, and when we got there our table was ready and we were seated promptly. The server was friendly, knowledgeable and checked on us every now and then. I would come back. We would skip dessert next time (although you don't need it after the meal... We were full, but we wanted to try the whole experience of the restaurant). The only downside to this restaurant is how SMALL it is. Definitely get a reservation, it gets busy. And be prepared to be seated a foot away from another table. Oh, and the drink was way better than I expected (apple pie mule); it was refreshing and not overly sweet.

Able to get a table for 2 w/o a reservation thankfully on a Saturday night. Service was attentive, waitress was amazing. Sweet & great recommendations. We went with the Grilled Octopus as a starter, main courses of hailbut & lamb Delicious. Great cocktails as well! first time, won't be the last ❤️

Our service was absolutely incredible! The waitress was such a sweetheart and all of the staff worked collaboratively to make sure plates were cleaned and glasses were filled without any prompting even on a busy Friday evening. Each dish was deeply satisfying and our entrees were well-flavored and tender. If they have the French Onion soup special it's worth getting!

One word…. DELICIOUS!!! We went to Wine Knot with some friends of ours. My wife and I had been to Wine Knot a number of times. As a matter of fact it was where we had our first date. Our friend had never been there. We made reservations… highly recommended to do that. It was a Friday night and pretty crowded. We had a great table. The service was incredible. We had the BEST waitress ever! Very attentive, fast, and friendly. Our food was delicious. I believe we ordered way too much, but we didn’t care. Deviled Eggs and Spinach Artichoke Dip for appetizers. French Onion Soup and Wedge Salad for the second course. Our entrees were Grouper with tater tots (one of the specials), a Cheeseburger, and Pot Roast. Everything was perfect. We were way too full to eat any dessert. We highly recommend Wine Knot Bar and Bistro!

House of Gerhard

German restaurant
House of Gerhard is a charming old-world eatery that has been serving up German and American favorites, along with imported and domestic beers, since 1966. Located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, this European-themed restaurant has garnered recognition as the 2009 Wisconsin Restaurateur of the Year. With its warm and friendly atmosphere, it offers a diverse menu featuring German platters, schnitzels, pot roast, beef rouladen, and more.
If you're in Kenosha and hungry, House of Gerhard is where you need to be. The service is top-tier fast and friendly, and they keep the beer coming without you even having to ask. Now, let’s talk food. The Sauerbraten? Absolute perfection; tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The brats and wurst were spot on, with plenty of sauerkraut on the side. The Hofbrau was cold, crisp, and hit the spot, and their bar’s got some awesome beer steins that give the place some real character. Pro tip: Make a reservation. This place gets packed, and for good reason. Great food, great service, and a laid-back vibe. I’ll definitely be back, Prost 🍺😎
Joe K — Google review
If you're considering The House of Gerhard based on its reputation as the "best" German restaurant in town, don't be fooled. It's only the best because it’s the only German restaurant here—and that’s not saying much. Five of us were severely disappointed. Multiple people ordered the Schnitzel, one of their so-called specialties. The breading was as hard as cement, and the meat was so dry and tough it was nearly impossible to cut, let alone chew. It’s clear that meat wasn’t freshly prepared, and if it was "fried in butter," it must’ve been during a previous lifetime because none of us could tell. One person ordered the White Fish - It was overcooked, flavorless, dry, and very disappointing. At $30 a plate, you’d expect quality, or at least food you can chew. Instead, we got overpriced, inedible meals. Drinks, thankfully, were great (props to the bartender 😉), but the service was just average. Bottom Line: Don’t believe the hype. If you're after a good meal, you’ll want to look elsewhere. The prices here are high, and the food quality is LOW. The only reason I gave this place 1 ⭐️, is because 0 isn’t an option.

Food was excellent. Had the cordon Bleu schnitzel. Service was great as well. She found us a great bottle of wine which matched what we were looking for. Prices are reasonable atmoshere is authentic. I would highly recommend eating here! You will NOT be disappointed. ———- Original Review: One of my favorite places to eat in Kenosha. The service is always incredible. Super friendly, helpful, and fast. Our waitress was great! The food at House of Gerhard is delicious every single time I go there. There is no way you can complain about not getting enough food. The salads, the soups, bread…. everything is delicious! I had the Bavarian Pot Roast with red cabbage and mashed potatoes and gravy. The pot roast was so tender, I didn’t even need a knife to cut it. I love going to the House of Gerhard. I can’t wait to back again.

The scallops were large, perfectly cooked and the best I've ever had! Baked French onion soup was outstanding! Salmon was prepared as requested. Sides were pickled red beets (like my mom used to make) and spaetzel. Homemade rolls and paté, and muffins. We enjoyed our personalized service. Our server was fun and helpful. This will be our "go to place" for future celebrations! Fun German atmosphere!

Always have a wonderful experience here. It can be a bit loud because of the size of the room, but a nice atmosphere, good service, and delicious food.

The food is great. I really enjoyed the appetizers. I'd say don't go on a busy day but I don't know what day that would be for them. I booked a reservation for 5 on a Monday evening at 6p.m. and it was packed. I appreciated that they accomodated our extra guest. The seating is quite cramped the way the tables are shaped and placed. There was an extremely large group that came in so we waited a rather long time for our drinks. It was extremely loud and overstimulating. So, I do not recommend to those that are overwhelmed easily. Over all, we enjoyed our first experience as it was new. I can't say we would return unless to eat outside at their patio.

Eclectic restaurant
Sazzy B is a vibrant restaurant and bar located in Kenosha, offering a taste of big city dining without the need to travel to Chicago. The sophisticated dining room features brick walls and elegant lighting, providing the perfect setting for enjoying intricate dishes like bourbon salmon and prosciutto-wrapped duck, paired with imaginative cocktails such as cucumber-basil martinis.
We love getting drinks and doing our date nights here. My husband especially loves their old fashions and me their espresso martinis. Recently went for our anniversary and the arugula salad was amazing, my husband had the pork chop which he always loves. Along with that they gave us our first round of drinks free for our anniversary. Such a sweet gesture. Their food, service and atmosphere never fails. Have always loved this place.
Rachea C — Google review
This was a mixed experience. We did Saturday night drinks and they were the best drinks between Chicago and Milwaukee so we decided to come back for brunch. They don't have any savory options for someone who only eats chicken/turkey, but can't really dock them for that. It'd be nice if they had a bigger variety of non-pork or egg dishes, but this isn't Milwaukee so it's understandable. Service was a bit slow even though the restaurant was slow, but that happens. Can't rush brunch. The drinks were great. We never got the beignets we ordered to share as an appetizer. Cocktails: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ All their drinks are amazing and creative Brunch burger: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was really good. The flavors of the burger and bacon overpowered the aoili so I didn't really taste that, but fortunately the burger itself was good enough that it was fine. I'd go heavier on the aoili if you want people to taste it Hashbrowns: ⭐⭐ These were burnt and dry. No real flavor to them. Ceasar salad: ⭐⭐⭐ Dressing was good. A little mayonnaisey but it goes away quickly. Not too garlicky. The fried croutons are an interesting choice. I'm not sure what frying them brings to the table that baking doesn't, but it just made them really hard. My wife had to bury them under the lettuce for 5 minutes to soften so she could even spear one with a fork. The frying seems like a buzzword gimmick because it doesn't add any beneficial flavors
Richard M — Google review
The Steak and crispy brussels were my favorite. They were crispy, sweet, and savory. The portion was perfect for 2 people. The hummus board was very good. I enjoyed the hummus and it too had a sweetness without being cloyingly sweet. I would have preferred kalamata to green olives. The portion was perfect for 2. The beehive salad was also very good. I preferred to add some hummus from the board instead of the dressing though.

My wife and I wanted a drink and talk. She had a blueberry martini and I had a tom Collins. Great drinks friendly staff. We came at shift change and couldn't pay immediately. We were in no hurry. Enjoyed our drink for 45 minutes or more. When we were going to leave i was surprised they didn't ask me to pay as I was sitting outside. When we payed he just smiled and said he had faith in the community and knew we would be responsible. Felt good in these times.

I can't believe it took me this long to try Sazzy B. Absolutely AMAZING!! My wife and I tried this place for the first time and we were blown away! Tom N was our server, he was very kind and professional 10/10 service. My wife ordered the 3 Cheese Truffle Cavatappi with an egg on top and she loved every bite of it. I ordered the Smash Burger and I am not exaggerating when I say, it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Cooked to perfection, with a crispy, caramelized exterior, yet the interior was still pink and packed with juicy flavor. The gruyere crisp is definitely a nice touch as well. Normally I don't mention sides, but the Truffle waffle fries were perfectly crispy and delicious! I'm telling you, this food is so good, there are zero chances of it becoming leftovers, 10/10 HIGHLY recommend.

One word. WOW! We hadn’t been to Sazzy B in a few years. It turns out that was a huge mistake. We need to go more often! The food and service were incredible. Our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He was a huge help picking out food and drinks. The food was delicious! We all liked everything we ordered. I loved my Moroccan Salmon and my wife loved her Italian Sausage Penne Pasta (I got to eat her leftovers for lunch the next day). We went with some friends and decided we need to go back to Sazzy B again soon. I highly recommend you go too!

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. It was a bit loud. We had two appetizers: the burrata cheese and the calamari. Those were good. The main courses were so so. We had gnocchi and the pork chop. The gnocchi was really gummy and the pork chop was dry. The service was good. Waitress was very attentive.

Mars Cheese Castle

Cheese shop

We went to the Cheese Castle on our way to where we were going for a business trip. There are so many types of cheese and beef sticks for sale inside of the store, you could spend hours in there finding new different kinds. There are also a lot of cool decorations inside of the place, and the gift shop is nice too

Diner
Franks Diner, an iconic lunch car joint established in 1926, is a historic landmark and the oldest operating diner in the United States. This cash-only eatery offers a menu of classic American fare, including juicy burgers, freshly baked bread, sweet and savory pancakes, fluffy omelets, meatloaf, and their renowned Garbage Plate. The restaurant also serves breakfast specials on weekends and homemade lunch plates alongside a variety of beverages and house-roasted coffee.
Great vibes, plenty of selection, good food, big portions. Tight inside the train car but still comfortable. The pancakes were probably the best I’ve ever had. The loaf of bread is huge! The biggest surprise was their many awards for best Soup, so I’ll try that next time. The waitstaff has personality and are true professionals. Waitress Paris was spunky and helpful.

This is a super cool little diner that has to be experienced. It's an old train car so the space is really limited, but totally worth the effort to squeeze yourself in to here. They have a larger table in the back that our group of six was able to sit at. The food is all typical diner food but everything was very tasty. I highly recommend trying their homemade bread, preferably in their French toast dish if you can! Our kids really like the Mickey mouse pancakes. Prices are affordable by today's standards as well.

Visiting from Melbourne Australia, came here with my family after seeing a facebook ad about it’s 99th anniversary. This is a super cool little diner that has to be experienced. It's an old train car so the space is tight but totally worth the effort to squeeze yourself in to here. They have a larger table in the back that our group of five was able to sit at. The food is all typical diner food but everything was very tasty. I highly recommend trying their homemade bread, preferably in their French toast dish if you can! The pancakes were probably the best I’ve ever had and it is huge!! I also the the stuffer Omelette and their hash browns are just perfect! Cluld not recommend it highly enough! What a great experience it is to go to this place! It is obviously a very unique diner, so that’s worth it alone and the staffs are super friendly, Prices are affordable by today's standards as well.

My first trip here. Waited about 45 minutes for a table of four. Reservations taken only for six or more. They are known for Frank's Famous Garbage Plate: a very large breakfast plate. However, we had lunch: the Wow burger, mini corn dogs, tuna melt, Spam sandwich, side of homemade hash, tavern fries, and their homemade bread. I wasn't keen on trying the Spam sandwich-I left that to the others in our group! Everything was tasty, staff very polite and they worked well together, like a well oiled machine. Atmosphere is great. Look up its history, it's worth a few minutes divergence. While waited for our table, we walked around the corner to "Tavern on 6th" for scrumptious Bloody Marys. Frank's Diner is a very nostalgic place to eat, especially knowing the history and how the building got to be....feels like you're transported through time.

Went on a Sunday just before noon, be prepared for a wait, but the food is great. Service is kinda lacking, but that's because they're serving the rest of this busy diner. Definitely order their cinnamon roll! Best one I've tasted yet, deliciously cinnamony, soft, and warm. HUGE homemade toast, you get your money's worth.

Do it. Just do it. Franks is the bomb! Tasty food - super unique feel (expect some friendly sass from staff). Cinnamon roll is the best. Mimosas are wonderful. Garbage plate with corned beef and all the fixins - yum yum yum. Oh and don’t forget the homemade honey wheat toast! They have treated my 95-year-old grandmother and I very well the past few years. Look forward to my visits a couple times each year.

If you’re anywhere near Kenosha, Franks’ Diner is an absolute must. Walking in feels like stepping into living history — it’s cozy, bustling, and full of character. The staff greets you with the kind of warmth you only get at a true hometown favorite, and you can tell immediately why this place has been a local institution for decades. The food is beyond incredible. Portions are generous, flavors are bold, and everything tastes freshly made. The Garbage Plate is legendary for a reason — it’s hearty, delicious, and keeps you full for hours. Even the simplest items, like pancakes or eggs, are cooked with a level of care that makes them taste extraordinary. The energy inside is contagious, with the sound of sizzling food on the grill and locals chatting over coffee. It’s the kind of place where you feel part of the community the moment you sit down. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, you’re treated like family. Franks’ Diner isn’t just a place to eat — it’s an experience. Between the history, the atmosphere, and the unforgettable food, it’s hands down one of the best diners in Wisconsin and worth going out of your way to visit. the 1100 Tequila Shot celebration needs it’s own review!!!!

This diner is one-of-a-kind! I enjoy the great atmosphere and vibe from the staff. My favorite is the B's & G's, but today the chalkboard said the soup was Bacon Cheeseburger! That really hit the spot after the B&G's. They could have used the creamy soup as a biscuit topper also!

Nestled just a stone's throw from the shimmering shores of Lake Michigan, Waterfront Warehouse is a must-visit bar and grill that perfectly blends casual American dining with an inviting warehouse ambiance. With its charming brick and wood accents, this eatery serves up an array of mouthwatering dishes that cater to every palate. From gourmet flatbread pizzas and juicy burgers to delectable pastas and Tex-Mex delights, there's something for everyone here.
Went to Waterfront Warehouse for dinner. We have been there many times. It was very busy, it often is busy though so plan to wait. But, there is a bar to keep one entertained. Our server was pleasant and attentive. One of the nice things about WW is the diversity of the menu. My daughter had ribs and fries; my wife the Tuscan Pasta; and I had the fish fry. The fish fry was good as was the Tuscan Pasta. There is something for everyone and prices are reasonable.

Post Covid, I find it that good food and good service are harder to come by. We recently tried waterfront warehouse for the first time and were pleasantly surprised by both. The waitress was awesome. We went on a weeknight, so I think she was both a bar tender and a waitress, and she was very prompt with taking our order and on top of checking in on us for refills, etc.. We ordered the loaded fries as an app and burgers for the meals - both were good. I liked their standard fries better than their waffle, but this might just be a personal preference. I ordered 2 drinks - a seasonal Moscow mule and a strawberry slammer, both were STRONG. We went on a weeknight, but it was still pretty busy so I imagine it gets busy during the weekends - I would plan accordingly. We had no wait, but the bar area was pretty full. The only potential downside is that you do have to go down a few stairs inside to get to their restroom - which could be a downside for someone who is unable to do stairs. We will be back for date night soon!

Anthony was our server, pretty cool! Definitely worth a pretty awesome tip. They made me a triple patty burger on Texas toast. It normally came with two, but three is better. The taste was wonderful, you can savor the flavor. No alcoholic drinks this time, my wife had the fried goat cheese salad, and the Greek fries we shared. Good conversation, in the balcony area, it was very relaxing. Nice view out the windows, clean facility, clean bathrooms, I got a chance to look in the kitchen, pretty awesome! I would highly recommend stopping in for a meal or just a drink. I've been here several times before. I would suggest you go and see for yourself! Sorry for the mistakes, I should have proof read before, lol! 😵‍💫

Zach was a great server. Very helpful. When they didn’t have our preferred beverage choices, he was appropriately compassionate and made other recommendations. We love coming here.
E. R — Google review
Even though the food was really good, the service was definitely lacking. After bringing the apps, we didn’t get enough plates and got no napkins or silverware. Some of the plates were dirty. Nobody came by to check until the food came. Even though we asked to make sure that some ingredients weren’t in the salad (the menu and the waitress verified), the salad still included those ingredients. The mistake was resolved and the salad was great, but we had to wait for the mistake to be corrected. Two out of three Greek feast tacos I ordered only had two small pieces of chicken and the chicken dumpling soup had one tiny cube. The name should be changed to Dumpling soup. The deck is nice, but has lots of bees.

We liked the Waterfront Warehouse when we visited. The food was tasty, and it had a fun atmosphere. It was pretty busy when we went, but it didn't feel too crowded inside. We got burgers, cheese curds, and flatbreads, and we liked them all. The drinks were good too. In case anyone is just looking at the name, it's worth noting that the restaurant isn't actually on the water and is a little up the road.

Visited Waterfront Warehouse early on a Friday evening during the summer. Upon arrival I noticed they had a nice outdoor patio that allowed patrons a slight view of the lake. We sat inside however, because.. well summer. Accurately described as a "bar/grill" by Google. There was a bar as well as dining rooms, the building is split level, so everything isn't on just one floor. The menu isn't the largest, but it does show character. Plenty of unique things to order like loaded fries and flatbreads to simpler things like ribs and chicken parmesan. We shared a Pesto Italiano Flatbread which we liked. It was definitely stacked and loaded with fresh basil and chicken. The flatbread itself was more like a pita than a traditional flatbread. No crispiness to it. But it was filling. We also decided that since we were sharing a flatbread, we could both probably eat an order of loaded fries. Yeah, big mistake. These orders are way bigger than we thought and are meant for sharing. They're all prepared with waffle fries, which is a nice change. I also liked that these orders aren't just topped with the toppings but are prepared so that the good stuff is found inside as well. The Kenosha 'Cue BBQ fries were a flurry of different tastes that made the dish too busy to try and pick out individual flavors, but it was delicious. We both decided that WW is a solid 4 (more like 4.2 from me). But we're both intrigued enough to come back whenever we're in town again. We both think it could be a strong 5, but we need another visit to get us there.

La Fogata Mexican Grill offers a relaxed dining experience with a focus on Mexican favorites like fajitas, tacos, and margaritas. The dimly lit space provides a cozy atmosphere to enjoy their menu of small and big plates along with delicious sides. Additionally, the restaurant also offers a variety of margaritas and beers to complement the flavorful dishes. If you're in Kenosha, this is definitely a spot worth checking out for an authentic Mexican dining experience.
I always love coming to La Fogata. The food is full of flavor, I got the Baja wrap this time. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. As always, the margaritas were wonderful. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious Mexican cuisine!
Marisa M — Google review
Stopped here on a warm Sunday night with some friends, and enjoyed sitting on the patio to soak up the summer weather, it felt refrigerated inside. The menu had a tempting assortment of margaritas, but our server said a new item was white sangria, so we decided to share a liter of that. It was quite sweet and pretty strong, but delicious. We ordered fresh guacamole, which had a lot of onion in it, but was a nice accompaniment to the fresh crispy chips. My Mom loved her enchiladas, one friend had impressive looking fish tacos, and another had the Baja wrap, because it was unique for a Mexican restaurant. I’m gluten free and was excited to see enchiladas as an option, but they were barely warm by the time I got them, and corn tortillas at that temperature are kind of tough and hard to eat.

My daughter and I ate there last night and it was a great experience! My wife was working late at middle school conferences and of course our daughter wanted McDonalds, but driving past La Fogata, she agreed to try something different. I tried their new cowboy burrito with cactus and it was delicious highly recommend. But the star of our meal was a new soup they have Pozoloe Rojo I believe was the name. Just the right amount of spice and cooked just right. Our daughter LOVED it. Plus the service was great. Definitely going back in the future!

Been here plenty of times, unfortunately we have had issues in the past but not anything too serious. This time it was different. After eating most of our meal, we noticed a few pieces of very uncooked chicken 🤢 the manager was nice enough to cover the bill and looked just as shocked as we were about the chicken. Just hoping my family and I don’t get sick from this. The staff is very friendly but I have no intention on going back after today’s incident.

After a short walk along Lake Michigan we decided to have an early dinner at La Fogata. The host sat us out on the outside patio without asking us our preference. Since the patio was right at a very busy intersection, it was not the best atmosphere. However, our server (Patty) was wonderful and we chose to stay at that table. She made sure we knew what the specials were and that it was still Happy Hour. We ordered Elote (mild) and it was so delicious that we ordered another to take home! Whenever we are in the Kenosha area, this restaurant is a must!!

Went for a relaxed anniversary dinner a few days ago and the food was great as always. We really enjoy the authentic style tacos. The main reason for this positive review is the excellent service we observed from our waitress, Gigi. Even though we were a bit before the main dinner rush, she was hustling from table to table as if they were running at full capacity and checked in multiple times during the meal to make sure everything was going well. We were really impressed by her effort and hospitality and are more likely to return next time we are back in town.

What a wonderful little breakfast nook!!! While the indoor seating is limited, the food, service, and atmosphere are well worth the wait!! The serving portions are only outmatched by the quality of the food on the menu!! And you absolutely can not beat the prices!!! And their made in the house, both hot and cold coffee's, put both Starbucks and Dunkin's to shame!!! The Daily Dose Cafe has won over my heart, my stomach, and my wallet!!! You're absolutely crazy if you don't go give them a try!!!

It was extremely good. I had low expectations because I am not familiar with the area. Not many vegan options but still very delicious. I especially enjoy the American fries. I ordered the portobello mushroom cabiatta. I sat outside waiting for my food. It was very comfortable and great service!

We stopped in for lunch. Friends suggested it was good. We were surprised to find out that t is definitely a small place. Our only option was to sit outside. We waited for nearly 10 minutes beforw the server came out and told us she forgot about us. Secondly, it was a pretty windy day and all of the umbrellas were out and open- a huge wind gust came and blew over the umbrella right behind me, nearly hit us. Server took our order and came back out 10 minutes later only to tell us that what we ordered wasnt available. This was 3 strikes against this lil mom and pop place. We hope to visit on another day to sit inside. Service was just horrible.

Oooooh so scrumptious! I had the herb and tomato frittata (added a side of avocado) and it was perfection! My partner had the Spanish panini and said it was delicious. We felt the prices were reasonable, especially for such high quality food.

Little cafe on the corner, with unique character and charm! Bring your patience on busy days, the seating is pretty limited. Nice and simple menu, with very fair prices. Breakfast was cooked perfect, and overall taste was good. Something was missing for the “wow” factor. Milwaukee based coffee was a nice touch! Entry is ADA friendly but the overall sizing and spacing inside, makes for a huge challenge if you’re using a wheelchair or other item. Overall as nice locally owned place with friendly staff, and good food. Will come again!

The staff was very friendly and my drink turned out good. However the food took over 10 mins to wait for and my bagel was burnt. The bagel was so hard I didn’t bother finishing the sandwich. Our order was to go, I found the sandwich burnt after we got home.
Jennie G — Google review
We had been looking forward to trying The Buzz for quite some time, and after a full day of great stops in Kenosha, we made this our last destination before heading home. Unfortunately, it ended on a disappointing note. When we first walked in (Saturday afternoon around 2 PM), I was excited to check it out, I often blog about coffee shops and highlight what makes them unique. I asked the barista where they sourced their beans from, and she responded that they came from Milwaukee and were made special for The Buzz. I thought that was really interesting, but she offered no further detail. If I worked somewhere with beans roasted exclusively for our shop, I’d be eager to share more about them, maybe even encourage customers to visit the roaster. I then asked her what their most popular drink was, because that’s what I wanted to try. Instead of answering, she simply pointed me to the specials board and their regular menu. While that’s helpful, it didn’t answer my actual question about their best-selling drink, the one customers rave about and keep coming back for. The biggest disappointment was the service. Rather than welcoming or enthusiastic, the barista came across as dismissive and uninterested. As someone who has worked in coffee before, I know the excitement of telling customers about a café’s signature drinks or unique features. Here, I felt unwelcome and brushed off. It’s a shame, because the shop itself has potential, but the lack of hospitality really soured the experience. Service and passion are just as important as the coffee, and sadly, The Buzz missed the mark for us.

Fruit flies were attacking me and my food! They were flying into my eyes and nose, it was really gross, I ordered the roasted beet and apple salad, with smoked salmon on the side. Most of the salad was Brussels sprouts- which were not mentioned in the ingredient list. The beets were cool and rather difficult to chew, so it was a disappointing meal. As soon as I stopped eating, my plate was over run with fruit flies.

Another fine hole-in-the-wall in K-town that my wife & I recently tried for the first time and we were very pleased with this place. A different approach then your typical café and The Buzz Café is quite unique actually. They pretty much have a drink to suit every different mood and we love the cozy somewhat eclectic atmosphere. Venue is clean, staff provided exceptional service and the menu has some great choices including healthy options. Good coffee/ tea menu but the beer and especially wine list reigns supreme. An all around café that's an excellent stop in for coffee and a bite or a glass of wine/craft beer after work. Always try my best to support local-owned businesses and I'll gladly come back to this one and refer to other family, friends & co-workers.

Transportation in Kenosha

Getting around Kenosha can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Chicago Midway International Airport

International airport
Airport
Chicago Midway International Airport is a major airport serving the Midwest, offering direct train service to Chicago. The airport features a new off-site rental car facility with shuttle service to all rental car company options. For those craving Korean cuisine, Chicago offers a variety of restaurants serving delicious barbecue, bibimbap, and fried chicken.
Today I arrived at concourse B. Signage was very good and readable. The aisle were wide enough for walking and accessibility. I found several shops like Johnston and Murphy, MAC, and Jo Malone as well as several eateries. The local flavor of White Sox eatery and Reilly's Daughter gave a Chicago feel. The central area between concourses B and C offered several Dining options and of course I found Nuts On Clark kiosk with 3 types of popcorn. Accessible mens and women's restrooms most are hands free. Most stalls even if not dedicated accessible have 2 grab bars diaper changers. Free WiFi that take a few minutes to access. Most shops and eateries are accessible with open entry, accessible self order and pick up counters. Several bar height seating areas with accessible tables. No background music in airport and just traveler noise The art work walking out of airport and to parking or public transport pays tribute the city's Soevisl Olympics, Gage park area and several personal glimpses of military service people, with a look at all races and genders

I’ve flown out of Midway many times over the last few years. I love it! Drop off and pick up are always a breeze. Retrieving luggage from the carousel is also quick and easy. TSA lines are efficient swift. Restrooms are a bit dated and limited in terms of quantity, however that is my only negative. Midway is definitely a less stressful option compared to O’hare of course.

I have had good experiences at Chicago Midway International Airport. It is a clean and well organized airport with decent food and shopping options. There are quite a few "Nuts on Clark" shops where you can get cheddar and caramel popcorn which is a nice Chicago touch.

It’s an okay airport overall. We were actually supposed to fly into O’Hare but (our fault lol) ended up at Midway instead. When we arrived, we asked the lady at the information desk for directions to the subway/train station—her response was basically “go here and pass the elevator,” which made no sense since the elevator didn’t even go past level 4. She honestly seemed like she just wanted to shoo us away. Thankfully, a super nice guy working at a pizza stand helped us out and gave us proper directions—way more helpful than the info desk. We eventually made it, but that first impression was pretty meh. On the way back, we also realized there’s no duty-free here, which was another bummer. Overall, not the worst, but definitely not great either. 🥹

Frontier flight number: #3282 - [Flight Number] To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my flight experience on [Date of Flight], flight number [Flight Number], from last Vegas] to [Houston ]. My experience involved a denial of accommodations for my service dog and what I perceived as retaliatory and discriminatory behavior from the flight crew, which I believe constitutes a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Upon boarding, I asked two flight attendants—a light-skinned woman with braids and another individual—if there was a designated area for disabled passengers traveling with a service dog. I was told there was not. I then requested an exit row seat for additional space for my service dog, but this request was denied based on my need for the service dog. During the flight, after the captain announced that all passengers were boarded, I observed the crew allowing multiple other passengers to move to different seats. Despite this, when I got up to use the restroom, a flight attendant told me, "Sir, you stay there." I felt singled out by this instruction. After I finally got to the back of the plane, a flight attendant used the intercom to tell me to return to my seat. When I moved to a different section of the plane that was empty, multiple crew members, including a white male attendant, surrounded me. They insisted I return to my original seat even though no one else was sitting there. This confrontational encounter caused my service dog to become distressed and anxious. The white male attendant then approached me directly and told me, "Don't move section again," despite the fact that I had not responded or caused any disruption. I felt singled out and harassed by the crew's actions, especially when compared to the freedom other passengers had to move around the cabin. This is the third time I have had to complain about this type of behavior from your staff. This repeated pattern is unacceptable and suggests a serious lack of training and regard for the rights of disabled passengers.I am requesting a formal investigation into this incident and appropriate action to be taken against the staff involved. I also ask that Frontier Airlines review its policies and staff training regarding the ADA and the rights of passengers with disabilities. I look forward to your prompt response and a resolution to this serious matter. Sincerely

Well organized and good signage with an extremely efficient TSA-Pre security even after more than a month of the Fedral Govt shutdown and not being paid. SW airline and Air Traffic Controlers did a great job. In ensuring smooth, safe and on time flight arrivals and departure.

Always enjoy flying in and out of MDW. Can get crowded at times but definitely very manageable. Staff is always courteous and helpful. Definitely recommend.

Chicago O'Hare International Airport

International airport
Airport
Chicago O'Hare International Airport, spanning over 7,000 acres, is a major hub serving the Midwest with direct rail service to Chicago. The airport boasts stunning modern art adorning its ceilings and walls, including a large dinosaur statue, adding sentiment and story to the space. While the staff is helpful and the building well-maintained with clean bathrooms, navigating between terminals can be challenging due to their spread-out nature. However, there's ample parking available.
⸻ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Experience at O’Hare International Airport! I recently traveled through O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. From check-in to boarding, everything was smooth, well-organized, and professional. The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient—especially the TSA team who made security checks fast and stress-free. The airport is very clean and well-maintained, with plenty of seating areas, charging stations, and clear signage that makes navigation easy, even for first-time visitors. The terminal had a great variety of shops, restaurants, and cafés, with both quick snacks and sit-down options available. I enjoyed a delicious meal while waiting for my flight. The free Wi-Fi worked perfectly throughout the terminal, which helped me stay connected and productive. Bathrooms were clean and easily accessible, and I noticed that staff were constantly working to keep public areas tidy. Boarding was on time and well managed, with announcements made clearly and in multiple languages. Overall, O’Hare gave me a very positive travel experience—one of the best I’ve had in the U.S. Highly recommend flying through ORD for its excellent service, amenities, and overall efficiency. I will definitely choose it again in the future!

Chicago O’Hare is a very busy airport, so it’s definitely a good idea to plan ahead and allow some extra time. So having TSA PreCheck is definitely helpful to save time 🙂. Overall, it’s a convenient and easy-to-navigate airport. I had a question about where to find the USO, and a staff member kindly explained it to me. There are also plenty of dining options and shops, which makes the wait more comfortable.

Review of Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) We recently arrived at Terminal 5 of Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and our experience there was quite good. The terminal is modern, clean, and well organized, with plenty of seating areas, restrooms, and food options. The immigration and baggage claim process was smooth, and airport staff were generally helpful. However, for passengers needing to travel to Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, it’s important to note that the terminals are not directly connected by walking paths. Instead, they are linked by the Airport Transit System (ATS) — a free automated metro service that operates between all terminals and the parking/transportation areas. The ride itself is comfortable, but you may need to wait for a few minutes depending on the schedule. If you are planning to book a taxi, Uber, or Lyft, please remember that pickup zones are mainly located near Terminal 2. So, after landing at Terminal 5, you’ll need to take the metro (ATS) to reach Terminal 2 before arranging your cab. This can take around 15–20 minutes depending on luggage and crowd levels. Overall, Terminal 5 offers a pleasant experience, especially for international arrivals. But travelers connecting to other terminals or needing ground transportation should plan some extra time for the transfer. Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5) Pros: Clean, modern Terminal 5; efficient immigration and baggage handling. Cons: Distance and time required to reach taxi pickup zones and other terminals.

Chicago O’Hare Airport is one of the busiest yet most convenient airports around. The Blue Line connection straight to downtown is a huge plus—affordable and super easy to hop on right from the terminal. Toilets are clean and well-maintained, even in high-traffic areas. And United Airlines absolutely dominates here, with massive terminals, lounges, and frequent flights to just about everywhere.

O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in Chicago is one of the busiest airports in the U.S., featuring a large, modern layout with clear signage. The Southwest check-in area is clean, and staff are friendly and efficient. Although it can get crowded, the security process is well-organized and moves smoothly. It’s best to arrive early since security lines can be long during peak hours. The waiting areas are comfortable, with plenty of cafés, fast food options, and convenient charging stations.

I've never had a problem at O'Hare. My favorite way to travel is to fly United, and O'Hare makes it really convenient to do so. I usually end up parking in the Economy F parking garage or Economy G, whichever is available. There's a shuttle to get you to the Terminal, but allow at least 20-40 minutes for that whole process. The security line can be long, so I do recommend getting to the Terminal at least 1.5 hours early to allow for the line. For the most part, you get to keep your shoes on and your electronics in your backpack as you go through the detectors. Lots of dining options once you're past security, and the gates are clean and there is good seating availability (for the most part). One thing, though, is that YOU WILL TAXI FOR A VERY LONG TIME! Once you're seated on the plane and it starts moving, don't get excited. You'll be taxiing for about 30 minutes before takeoff. HAHAHAHA!

I recently traveled through Chicago O’Hare Airport and had a great experience. I flew out of Terminal 5, and everything went smoothly. Security was quick and efficient, especially since I have TSA PreCheck, which made the process even faster. The terminal was clean, organized, and easy to navigate, with plenty of signs and helpful staff. There were also nice shops and dining options available while waiting for the flight. Overall, it was a pleasant and stress-free airport experience one of the better large airports I’ve traveled through.

Chicago O’Hare has been the airport I have traveled through the most, and it truly is a huge hub. I have mostly flown United and Spirit from here, and the experience has been smooth overall. What I love most is how easily accessible it is by train - the Blue Line takes you straight into the city for just $5. Even better, a $5 day pass lets you not only get to the city from the airport but also use public transportation all day to explore. The trains run frequently, about every 15 minutes, which makes it very convenient. O’Hare’s size can feel overwhelming, but the excellent connectivity makes it a great starting point for a trip to Chicago.
