Feiro Marine Life Center

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Feiro Marine Life Center is a small aquarium dedicated to showcasing local marine life through hands-on exhibits and three touch tanks. The center was founded by Arthur Feiro, a passionate marine studies mentor, and finally opened its doors to the public in 1982. Visitors can get up close with various sea creatures such as sea stars, scallops, anemones, and even a giant Pacific octopus.
The staff and volunteers really made this an excellent family outing. We spent plenty of time of time learning and interacting with the animals. Controlling the mini submarine was also a hoot. Yes, the place is small, but the entry fee is low, so it think it is well worth a visit. Just make sure that you engage with the staff - the know their stuff! I hope that they get their website up soon, because we had to call them to figure out what they had to offer! So don’t let the lack of a website put you off!

Wonderful collection of marine life! The natural habitat water is pumped from outside! Perfect for children and enjoyable for adults. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I felt very welcomed there and observed genuine kindness and patience with young inquisitive minds. Restrooms are outside, building next door. Free parking, picnic tables, too.
Rochelle D — Google review
Super cute little aquarium! I would say better for little kids, but we adults enjoyed the touch tanks too 😁 I heard about how and octopus eats, saw the cutest baby fish, and watched my sister feed algae discs to the sea urchins!
Jonica C — Google review
This center thoroughly exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be a good experience, but it was fantastic thanks to Joseph, an outstanding tour guide volunteer who was extremely knowledgeable about every exhibit and question we asked. The touch tank was super fun, too. Highly recommend visiting here, and I hope you get a tour from Joseph, who needs a promotion from volunteer to paid employee for sharing his impressive marine life expertise.
Deanna K — Google review
Great little aquarium and learning center. There is plenty to see and learn here all for $6 entrance fee. Facility maintained well with ocean water inlet. The volunteers are knowledgeable and answer questions patiently. Must see Jelly fish section and touch exhibits. No restrooms. Plenty of free parking.
Ganesh K — Google review
A wonderfu hands-onl expereince! The staff were very friendly and knowledgable. Was a great to look at the sealife before tide-pooling to know what to look for.
Mariel M — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit today! The staff was not only warm and welcoming, but regularly did rotations walking around and answering questions. We had a super personable experience and learned a lot about the area for next to nothing $6 per adult entry. The tanks were clean looking, each display was well labeled, and sea life seemed to enjoy being there. There was also an exhibit recreating the bay estuary at Hollywood Beach which was super cool to have an explanation of the little environment there, animals and seaweed, that you could see before swimming (or not swimming) while viewing it through the window! Nice skeletons of turtles, orca skull, a truly thoughtful space that is small but packed out with exhibits. I hope they expand one day to include the octopus and more like the staff talked about!
BREE P — Google review
A must do while in Port Angeles! The volunteers were great and so knowledgeable. We spent an hour or so with our volunteer, Joseph, and he was excellent and I got to touch so many critters and learned so much! Great for kids too!

Ediz Hook

Mentioned on

Peninsula
Ediz Hook, also known as "The Spit," has a rich history dating back to the 1850s when it was initially settled after the establishment of the US-Canada border. The area was once referred to as "False Dungeness" and later as "Cherbourg" before being named Port Angeles in 1862. The Port of Port Angeles was established in 1922.
Incredible views including regular visits from wild seals! A very relaxing and low impact beach stroll, but be aware of the tides, there's narrow areas of the beach that dissappear during higher tides
Christopher — Google review
A nice place to catch nice views of Port Angeles, the sea and sunset. The drive is very pretty
Bharathi M — Google review
Great spot for sunsets, beach combing and saying hi to the resident seal. Unfortunately some people are being allowed "extended camping" along the side of the road via a trailer without a vehicle and accumulating garbage, but mostly a beautiful spot to visit.

Have been coming here since 1984 and this June was my first Orca sighting....so awesome to watch them....totally amazing they have survived our polluted planet..........choose to have a good day.......it's always a Choice........:)

Great views and lots to see. Kayaking there is a boat launch one side is the calm bay and the other is the Strait. Coast Guard station at the end makes for some interesting sights. There is also a bunch of random cats wandering around which are kinda fun to see what they are up to.
Adrien — Google review
Beautiful place to come watch the sunset. Bring a jacket! It can get super cold and windy, even on hot days. PLENTY of spots to park your car! There is a small population of feral cats. They dont like people, volunteers come and give them food.
Indaris N — Google review
Super cool spot to drive out to and catch the sunset. We were lucky enough to to catch the sunset from two different spots on the Olympic Peninsula and this was one of them. Seemed a little sketchy when your driving out there because you drive right through an industrial parking lot (so weird). But once your past that you can stop along the way and get an awesome view from the rocks of sun setting over the water. Then just hop across the street and an awesome landscape view of the mountains.
Monica L — Google review
Cool recreational area near the Port Angeles waterfront. You have to drive/bike through a small industrial area to reach it but it's well worth it! Lots of parking along side of road if you need it. We saw plenty of birds and a large otter hunting for fish. Expect to see a lot of bicycles out here as well. Definitely a worthwhile stop if you're on the Discovery Trail! - Olympic Otter

Port Angeles Fine Arts Center

Mentioned on
7 lists
Art gallery
Museums
Nestled in a stunning architectural gem, the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center offers visitors an enchanting blend of art and nature. Originally the home of Esther and Charles Webster, this modern Northwest structure was transformed by the talented architect Paul Hayden Kirk into a vibrant space for creativity. The center not only showcases impressive artworks but also boasts breathtaking views that captivate every visitor. As you explore, don't miss the chance to wander through Websters Woods Sculpture Park, which spans five acres of lush second-growth forest.
Only visited the outdoor exhibits, walking through Webster’s Woods, and enjoyed the trails and sculptures. Would recommend the detour for anyone in the area! A nice walk to stretch your legs. For kids, it encourages curiosity and a sense of discovery to look for art in unexpected places. There are descriptions posted for many of the art installations. We also saw deer along the path during our visit. While we visited during the day, I can imagine it would be enchanting to stroll at dusk when the paths are illuminated. Free entry to the sculpture park daily.
Meredith M — Google review
I would rate this institution 6 stars if that were possible. We concentrated on the outdoor sculpture exhibit during this visit. There are many wonderful sculptures hidden off hiking trails within the outdoor space. I will share pictures. Many were a surprise which made one intensely study the forest to find more. Many were also accompanied by new 2024 poetry. I must say that the employees were very friendly and helpful although quite busy preparing for a special event.
David S — Google review
Wonderful place to spend time. And few people, too. It's park meets art installation.
Stephan C — Google review
As we arrived early to Port Angeles to catch the ferry we thought we would stop by to kill some time. There was quite a bit of repair/construction going on so we did not get a chance to see everything but it is a nice strol. Some areas are paved while other paths that we took were not. The gallery itself is small as it was a house that belonged to the artist. She donated it to the city along with the 5 acres. Quite an interesting story. We had a nice chat with the volunteer and had a nice stroll through the forest seeing a fawn with its mother. There is no cost, but donations are welcomed.

Great little stop to get out and stretch the legs after driving for a few days

My review is only of the forest sculpture walk aka ‘Webster’s Woods’—peaceful, beautiful bliss! If you like nature and you like art, spend an hour wandering through the trees and discovering surprises at every turn.Thumbs up!

How very haunting… it could have been a thousand years ago by now.. An art museum set atop sacred stolen ground nestled in idyllic Port Angeles between tribal reservations. The town library sits upon an old underground downtown or maybe it’s the jail… I’ve forgotten my way around by now. None of the art reflects any sign of nazism. At least not back then when I took my last stroll through. My dad loved the place, I wonder if my boys remember this magical outdoor art museum? How very sad no trace of holocaust victims show up here through art. How painful… so painful I no longer feel anything at all. I guess hope was still promising back then. Hope is the enemy. Hope is the enemy. The tribes did come out though in loving celebration and tribute to my father a very soft spoken gentle wise man. That meant something back then… to even be given second notice or second thought by the tribal reservation community. Compass Counselling. I have nothing at all to prove my history or anything of familial value, art, sentimental time pieces… art. Rare fine relics of history. If there is any treasure of the Stagg family left at all… well I hope it is in the form of living treasure, walking and talking and eyes that truly see both the future and authentic history. Be safe🇺🇸 Heather Marie Stagg POTUS in distress🇺🇸🦌🌸🦄 Trade me. I would not and could not bear for this to happen to any of you. Trade me. Until you finally save everyone. Just please do not save them for later. All we ever have is this very moment. Trade me until you save me. Just do not save me for later. It is my job to live as a testament tribute to the Great American Dream. To rewrite the rules of engagement. To change the nature of securities in a dangerous timeframe and broken election. I secure the living and pull the military through a nuclear event. The constitution was attacked. I had to pay the bill of rights for us all to get through. Pay your taxes. Rights are not free. It is illegal to charge hostages for YOUR bill. The founding fathers knew oppression. However we still have yet to educate of the indigenous holocaust history… the last Navajo code talker has reportedly died. Until the lamb has a publisher… Only lions report and record history. Or the shepherd. At least Germany educates and preserves their concentration camps and does their best to be accountable. First responders die at the hands of their very own. I had to get on the ballot. I had to go to war. This is the last known safe reporting location.

It will be nicer when the construction is done. I found it funny that parks now days can’t have swings or teeter-totters but we can have old rusty bandsaw blades. 🤣

Gastropub
Next Door Gastropub is a lively downtown venue that offers an elevated take on American bar bites and craft beers in a cozy setting with outdoor seating. The pub serves up generous portions of casual eats, featuring unique specials like the Black & Bleu Totchos and the Black & Bleu burger. Locally sourced ingredients are used to create delicious cuisine, complemented by a full cocktail bar, regional and local craft beers, and live music on Sundays.
I really liked the vibes of this place. It has a mix of indoor and outdoor seating and very lively. It's very popular so there is quite a bit of waiting at peak hours. Put your name on the list and walk around. We were a vegan and vegetarian group and found some dishes that worked for us. The veggie burger and onion rings were amazing. The veggie taco was okay. The tomato soup was delicious! All the food was made fresh and piping hot
Bharathi M — Google review
Had a fantastic meal in April with my hubby while we're visiting Olympic national park. Back again and looking forward to dining here again! Came early in a Friday evening and sat at the bar. Service, atmosphere was great! We ordered the buffalo wings to share and had the clam chowder. Both hit the spot. Main course was Fish & Chips. The fish cold and the batter was still wet and gooey. Fries were undercooked. Totally a different dish from the time we ate in April! I left the fish basket there and the fishy smell lingers... totally unacceptable. Oh! The bartender didn't asked about my unconsumed food as the bar was getting super busy with Mariners-Blue Jays playoffs goung on. I was so disappointed I didn't take any pics. Photos from the first visit...

We stopped by this cozy, stylish, and casual restaurant during our trip. The interior has a nice, open layout with bar seating, booths, tables, and a terrace. There are no dividing walls, which gives the space a unified and relaxed atmosphere. It was quite popular and fully booked when we arrived, but we only had to wait about 30 minutes. They sent us a text when our table was ready, which was very convenient. We ordered the chicken wings, a beef gyro, and the “Mrs. Newton” burger. The burger came with brie cheese, house-made jam, stout mustard, and arugula. The sweetness of the jam paired perfectly with the savory patty — absolutely delicious. The chicken wings were simply fried without sauce, and you can choose your own dipping sauce, which was a nice touch. The gyro can be made with either beef or chicken; we chose beef, and it was juicy and flavorful. The drink menu was also very impressive. In addition to soft drinks, they offer a great selection of wine, beer, cocktails, and even mocktails. It’s a great option for those who don’t drink alcohol. Overall, everything was fresh and tasty. A wonderful spot that I would definitely recommend - for families with kids too!
Kay T — Google review
When we arrived, we waited for a little over 25 minutes. I believe it was one of the few restaurants open nearby, so the wait wasn’t a problem. The sandwich was very good, but the soup was cold, and the other dish wasn’t great either. On top of that, we paid the bill with a debit card and were charged a fee—which I would understand if it were a credit card. The overall price was also higher than I expected.
Tai P — Google review
First visit and I was very impressed! Jessie was my waitress and she was excellent! I ordered the Ron Burgundy burger and was very happy with it. Delish! We also had the Pub dip with pepperjack cheese and jalapenos!! Can't wait to try other items on the menu!
CJ H — Google review
Excellent food and friendly staff! The Ron Burgandy Burger was excellent, and so were the truffle fries! We also ordered a chocolate cake for dessert which was very tasty.
Michael P — Google review
A decent pub open late(ish) on weeknights. The clam chowder tastes great but the bowl is on the smaller side. The tuna melt was quite delightful though! I'd recommend to someone looking for a casual hangout spot to grab a drink, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this place again.
Matthew B — Google review
Bartender was so nice! Food was great. We had the poutine, steak tallum and tuna melt & grilled jalapeños. Good list of drinks and decently priced.

Olympic National Park Visitor Center

Visitor center
The Olympic National Park Visitor Center is a 38-acre campus that offers educational exhibits, nature trails, and backpacking information. Situated 18 miles from Hwy 101, the center provides access to National Forest and private land. Visitors can find restrooms and facilities for day hikes and multi-day backpacking treks at the campground and trailhead.
I had a fantastic experience at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center! The staff was incredibly friendly and provided excellent recommendations for hiking trails suitable for my family. The exhibits were very well-designed and gave a great overview of the park's diverse ecosystems. The gift shop had a good selection of souvenirs. Parking was easy to find. Highly recommend stopping here before heading into the park!
Jay M — Google review
Closed. The center appears to be closed. I visited today, October 4th and it was closed. There was no sign or information to tell you the status. Just closed down. Bathrooms closed! Does some very nice trails behind the center that are still accessible and very beautiful. So you can still Park and have a nice hike.
Tim T — Google review
Nice place to visit and get a map. The road to hurricane Ridge is right there and you should go up there. Great view from the top in there are actually flushed toilets up there in a little mobile home type set up, but I would still use the bathroom at the visitor center before you go cause it may take you a while to get to the top. We got there two days before the government shut down began. We stayed for several days and I would say that by the third day some of the bathrooms were looking pretty bad. We stayed in the Crescent Lake Lodge, and it was very nice. I’m guessing it’s privately run because they were still open after the shutdown.

17 Aug 25- Spent 2 days in and around the park. The drive to the park from Bellevue is very scenic lined with tall trees. As we gain the elevation very many beautiful sites greet us. Majestic Olympic range mountains are seen one after the other. The weather was playing truant so we could not see very many of the promised vistas that we see in pictures. We also took a small guided trek conducted by Ranger Ellie Paxson. She was very passionate about the local flora and fauna and explained in great details . She also explained the causes of wild fires and their long term ecological implications. She also answered questions from the visitors. An excellent experience.
Anand S — Google review
Breath taking views amazing nature .... From rainforest to ocean from mountain peaks to lake shore trails... The only down side is you can not share this with your dog. Dogs are not allowed in any trails. Please make sure you check the park web site for possible road closures and current weather conditions. Be prepared for different weather conditions in the same day. Do not skip the visitor centers.

Just love the Olympic National Park. Will definitely come back to explore more when up the Oregon coast and explored several places. Stayed at Push Mora, South Beach, All were great places with great hikes on the beach

One of the most breathtaking places I’ve visited so far — the Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park! 🌲✨ Without a doubt, it’s the crown jewel of the park. The drive itself was nothing short of majestic, winding through lush greenery and dramatic mountain views. To visit, you’ll need either a daily entry pass or the America the Beautiful annual pass — totally worth it for this unforgettable experience. If you're looking to immerse yourself in nature's magic, the Hoh Rain Forest should be at the top of your list.

Great National Park. Leaves were just starting to change color. Nice Ranger Station. Smokey due to fires. Stopped at Hurricane Hill for a photo. Very windy, but worth it.

Black Ball Ferry Line

Mentioned on
3 lists
Ferry service
Transportation
The Black Ball Ferry Line offers car ferries departing from Port Angeles to Victoria in Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Travelers can enjoy a day trip to Victoria, exploring attractions like Butchart Gardens and the provincial museum. Booking in advance is recommended as the ferry can fill up quickly. The vessel provides amenities such as a commissary for food and drinks, spacious and clean bathrooms, but some passengers found the boarding process chaotic with little signage or direction.
Easy to purchase tickets online, loading process and going through customs was straightforward in Victoria. Everyone was so polite. Ferry was exactly on time, safety protocols were shared and it was a smooth ferry ride. Once we arrived in Washington, going through customs was quick and straightforward as well. Walked around near the government building while waiting for our ferry which was very pretty. We saw whales and dolphins from our ferry. What’s great way to travel - stress free and on time for a reasonable cost.
Susan C — Google review
Lots of seating options both inside and out. Very punctual departure. We did the passenger only option which was easy walk to either downtown port angeles or main area of Victoria. Relatively smooth ride as the waters were fairly calm on both trips. Can't speak to the vehicle aspect. All in all was nice.

We had a great experience on the Black Ball Ferry. We pre-booked our ticket and we took the first ferry in the morning. Everything went smoothly. We watched the sunrise and we even got to see porpoises! The crew was super friendly and they had a few food options. Everyone was well organized. The boat and bathrooms were very clean. The views were spectacular too. I definitely recommend!
Melissa L — Google review
Buying tickets online was easy, and the boarding process in Victoria, including customs, was quick and straightforward. Everyone we interacted with was polite and helpful. The ferry left exactly on time, safety protocols were clearly explained, and the ride itself was smooth and comfortable.
Manik G — Google review
The people at Black Ball Ferry Line have excellent customer service. We don't have any experience with auto ferry services, much less crossing the border by ferry. To avoid showing up at the terminal without a clue, we called ahead to get answers to our many questions. The agent we spoke to was extremely helpful. She made sure we knew what to expect when we arrived at the terminal, where to get in line to purchase "first come, first served" tickets, how they're sold, which documents they'll need to see, and where to get coffee while waiting to depart. She also gave us fantastic advice on how to maximize our chances of getting on the first sailing out of Port Angeles when all reservations for the day were sold out and they were expecting many others to show up hoping to get on any sailing scheduled for that day. We probably would have made it across to Canada eventually but we were very grateful for her advice so that we didn't have to wait around for hours for an opportunity be available. The guys guiding drivers to their loading lanes made sure we had our documents and made sure we were aware there was a still chance we wouldn't make it onto the first sailing. We thought it was great how they kept us informed and managed our expectations. At this point, we didn't care if we were able to board the first ferry because we knew the Black Ball staff was looking out for the us and likely the rest of the travelers that day. The deck hands loading drivers onto the ferry were very good at it. Their directions were direct, concise, and very clear. They alleviated a lot of the anxiety I might have had if I were trying to maneuver my car in and around the vehicle deck without their excellent direction. We didn't have much contact with the ship's crew while we were underway but they seemed pleasant, professional and ready to serve the passengers and ferry. Off loading was just as efficient as loading. Again, the directions were clear and concise. We would have figured it all out ourselves if we had to. Thankfully, the Black Ball staff was very helpful and essentially walked us through all our questions and then some. The Port Angeles Passenger Terminal is clean and comfortable. The restrooms are clean. If you're walking on the ferry, you'll be comfortable while you wait.

Great 90 min ride over to BC Victoria. Ship is clean lots of seating. Pretty area we took our bikes on the Ferry and rode all over down town also Chinatown. We had a blast.
Tracy L — Google review
My family and I took this ferry up to Victoria for vacation, and generally enjoyed the experience. I showed up early despite having a reservation, because I wanted to explore the dock area and grab lunch. The process of boarding was very organized, if a bit slow (every car coming off the ferry had to go through a booth despite having already gone through customs in Victoria before leaving). The seating is plentiful if you don't mind sitting outside on the deck (we were lucky and got a family booth inside). The reason I do not give them 5 stars is that the unloading experience was uncomfortable and actually a bit dangerous. There was some sort of parade happening on the road right outside of the ferry, and gobs of pedestrians blocked the entire ferry from unloading. It was extremely stressful to try to leave the terminal, even if you were turning right, because hundreds of people with zero survival skills were stepping out in front of each car en mass. While I know the ferry staff aren't responsible for festivals, I felt like they could have sent one staff member up to the entrance to control and direct pedestrians, or even coordinated with local law enforcement to have an officer do it. It would have been SO much safer with just a little extra effort. I bet it would have been less stressful to the staff too, since there is no way the ferry stayed on schedule with each car taking 5 minutes or more to leave the lot one at a time.
Rebecca F — Google review
Clean and pleasant with lots of good seating, refreshments, gifts, books, alcohol, vegetarian options, meals...anything you could need. Also very dog friendly! A great way to go to Canada! (It does rock quite a bit in some places so be prepared if you get seasick easily.)

Marymere Falls

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Marymere Falls is a 90-ft.-high waterfall that can be reached via a short and popular trail through old-growth evergreens and ferns. The falls are located near the site of the Marymere resort hotel, which was built in 1906 on Barnes Point. The hotel gained popularity due to the hospitality and excellent food provided by Mrs. Rose Littleton and her assistant, Mary Daum.
This is a hike that I have done many times, and it never disappoints. It is always a wonderful experience. The parking was fine and the hike is not too hard. It is family friendly, with lots of phot-taking opportunities. After entering the trail, you get a view of Lake Crescent, where you can walk along the water's edge (and maybe even skip some rocks). The water is very cold, but also very beautiful. Then, you walk under the highway to the forest, where you walk amongst magnificent trees. The forest is always cool, so be sure to bring a light jacket or hoodie. Finding a walking stick as you enter the forest is always a 'must', as it will come in handy and make a nice takeaway from the experience. After walking through the woods for about a mile, you come upon Barnes Creek, where you can wade in the river. Be aware that running water here can be fast and powerful, so use caution. Then, you walk over the bridge and enter the deeper part of the forest. To your left, you'll catch a glimpse of the beautiful waterfall. Going in the spring or after a heavy rainfall or period where it rained a lot will make for a full waterfall and a more majestic view. Once you're on the other side of Barnes Creek, you begin the hike to the waterfall. It is uphill and steep, which is why the walking stick will come in handy. Once you start your ascent, you can choose one of two trails to the falls, the first (to the left) has stairs and railings, while the second has only rails. Coming down, the stairs is much easier on the knees than the other way (pro tip). Once you reach the falls, there is a wonderful picture opportunity. Just above the first picture spot, you can walk a very brief trail up just a little bit more to another picture spot. Then, when you leave, you get to enjoy the beautiful experience again. I would recommend bringing a backpack with water and first aid supplies. Photos of the falls and creek were taken with Google Pixel Pro 8, using the long exposure setting.
Jeremy A — Google review
Starting from the parking lot, the trail isn’t very long. For groups with slower walkers such as seniors and children, completing the loop with photo stops takes about 2 hours. For average adults, it can be done in around 1 hour. The path offers a refreshing forest walk, with two viewpoints for waterfalls. Although the waterfalls aren't particularly grand, the overall route is easy, safe, and a great choice for a family outing.
潘先生(帥潘) — Google review
You reach to the waterfall through a super easy walk alongside a lush forest with ferns and canopies. My partners tagged this place as the dino forest. It can be quite crowded of course. Definitely worth a visit. Parking is tight.
I. A — Google review
Fun, easy hike to the falls with other more challenging trails for those wanting options. It says it takes about 1.5 hours, but we did it in 50 minutes at a fairly quick pace but stopping to enjoy multiple views and sights along the way. Crescent Lake is absolutely beautiful and so incredibly clear with green and blue colors! Don’t let the idea of crowds worry you either; it was peak season but didn’t really feel crowded except when in the parking area.
Mary M — Google review
Walk through the Marymere Trail up the Falls is interesting. It was not thatmuch adventures as expected. Still to be carfull while walking. Years old Pine trees are the major attraction on the walk.
Kozhisseri R — Google review
The Marymere Falls trail in Olympic National Park is one of my favorite easy hikes — super scenic and perfect for photos! I’m an elopement photographer and love shooting here because it’s short, flat, and surrounded by that dreamy mossy forest everyone pictures when they think of the PNW. The last few minutes go a bit uphill before the waterfall, but it’s an easy climb and totally worth it. I always recommend starting the hike from Lake Crescent Lodge instead of the Storm King Ranger Station — that route is way prettier, and the lake views by the lodge are incredible. Parking can get busy in summer, but off-season it’s quiet and peaceful. If you’re visiting Olympic National Park or looking for an easy, beautiful trail (and maybe a perfect elopement photo spot!), Marymere Falls is a must-see.

Pleasant walk on hard packed trail. Lots of wooden stairs to climb to the overlook during last 0.2 mile. Very busy on this Sunday, but the forest is very pretty.

They say the trail takes 45 minutes out and back, but if you follow your heart, your courage, and your inner child, it could take three times as long.

Salt Creek Recreation Area

Park
Nature & Parks
Salt Creek Recreation Area is a beautiful public park on a former WWII military installation with trails, ball courts, and campsites. It's a great place to camp near Olympic National Park, with excellent views of rugged sea stacks and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Over the years, I used to “drag” my kids into the car to explore the state with me. Sometimes we found hidden gems, other times we just drove around and ended up with nothing more than some quality time and a few laughs. But one day, we stumbled across Salt Creek—and that was it. We loved it immediately and it quickly became one of our go-to spots. The park is absolutely beautiful. You'll find sweeping views, a peaceful atmosphere, and tons of wildlife—bald eagles overhead, sea life clinging to the island wall and rocks, and some of the best water views around. There's a nice beach here too—but fair warning, it’s connected to a massive stretch of private beachfront. And if you so much as glance in that direction too long, security might appear out of nowhere to kindly (or not-so-kindly) remind you to look away. That part is a bit frustrating—feels strange that someone can own that much coastline. Still, I won’t dock the park for it. Salt Creek remains one of my favorite places to visit with my kids. Whether you’re here to walk, explore, or just sit and take it all in, it’s a gem worth seeing.

One of our favorite places. It has incredible tide pooles with low tides. Fun candy beach to play in and we love the camp sites. Oh and a great playground and fields to play in. The military pieces from the past are very cool. And there are always deer.
Kina D — Google review
When visiting Salt Creek, keep in mind that most the beach is owned by Crescent Beach RV Park so there is a fee to use the beach. Salt Creek Recreational Area is to the right of the creek. The day we were there was free parking near the campground area. When parking at the campground there are three sets of stairs going down to the beach. We went down the most western set of stairs. On our prior visit, we parked in the “lower” lot just to the right of crescent beach and I don’t recall there being any stairs. There are tidal pools to search. We saw sea urchins and anemones. We were also delighted to see a family of sea otters run across the beach and into the surf. Bring sturdy shoes for walking over the rocks near the tidal pools. There were slight waves and we saw someone surfing. Even though the water was icy cold, our kids went in…without wetsuits.

We love this area! There's lots of parking, day use is free and there's some great hikes around the park. It's a beautiful coastal area as well. We recommend the striped peak trail which was beautiful. Great views, wonderful forest section, well kept and marked. Go have fun!
Tim T — Google review
Gorgeous area and some neat history. We had a little time to fill before going to our Airbnb after Crescent lake and found this gem. Tide was high so we didn’t get to go tide pooling but enjoyed some trails and walking near the beach. Very pretty area
Marcinda — Google review
This was our favorite thing!!! We got lucky and visited during one of the lowest tides in a long time. We were able to walk all the way out to the large stack and do lots of tidepooling. Such a cool experience. Only tough part is getting down the rocks at the stairs. Not for the faint of heart or slippery feet! Highly recommend!
Kelsey L — Google review
One of our all time favorite places to stay, interesting history and tour the artillery installations. Our site is well shaded and the restrooms are clean and neat. We appreciate the hard work the staff does to make our stay enjoyable.
John P — Google review
Discover an incredible recreation area featuring playgrounds, many affordable camping spots, and convenient amenities like a free RV potable water fill-up station and a complimentary dump station. Enjoy clean restrooms, along with benches and tables available for events. Plus, take advantage of access to tide pools and the beach, as well as scenic walking trails.

Madison Falls Trailhead

Hiking area
Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Madison Falls Trailhead, also known as Madison Creek Falls, is a hidden gem tucked into the Elwha Valley of Olympic National Park. The 0.2-mile round-trip hike leads to a stunning 76-foot waterfall that maintains contact with the bedrock behind it, creating a visually striking sight. Visitors can dip their toes in the small pool at the base of the falls or simply enjoy the mood-boosting mist while sitting on benches at the end of the trail.
Super easy, short hike, perfect for any ability. Probably less than 200 yards each way. Definitely the easiest waterfall hike that I have experienced in the area. The parking lot is right beside a big river basin that would probably be good for kids to explore.
Greg S — Google review
Gorgeous small-ish but still beautiful waterfall! Hot tip, if you park and start to walk through tall grass or trees, there is an actual paved path that is accessible (which I love)! You can also come off the paved path and explore in the small creek/water and surrounding nature. Good, quick stop for a short hike.
Leah B — Google review
Very short walk - paved one and nice view of the waterfall. Loved big mossy trees at the bottom of the trail - maples I think 🤔
Agata L — Google review
Nice little waterfall with a 0.1 mile paved walk into the forest to reach it. Anyone could make this hike so don't worry if you're not feeling fit. There's an extremely fragrant bathroom on the way if you need it. Plenty of parking and some picnic tables nearby too.
Tim T — Google review
Madison Falls is a super easy and beautiful stop in Olympic National Park. I wouldn’t really call it a “trail” — it’s a short, paved walk (just a few minutes) to the waterfall. If you’re looking for more of a real hike, check out Marymere Falls instead. The waterfall is still stunning, though! If you want quick photos with a beautiful waterfall, this is exactly the spot. I’m an elopement photographer and often bring my couples here for a short session — even guests can easily join since it’s so accessible. It does get busy, so I recommend visiting early in the morning or near sunset to avoid crowds. Totally worth the quick stop!
Valerie P — Google review
Great place to stop and visit the beautiful elwah river in all its glory. Very historic area as it's the first explored river valley of the Olympics! You can also bike in for a few miles and hike if wanting to. We had an excellent time!

Bathroom yes Pass not needed Wheelchair accessible and family friendly Limited parking and does have other trails you can walk along

Super easy trail. It's paved, so you can easily take a stroller. Takes about 5 minutes to get to the waterfall. Beautiful place.

Port Angeles City Pier offers stunning waterfront views of the harbor and Strait of Juan de Fuca, making it a perfect spot for capturing postcard-perfect photos. The pier is a great place to watch sailboats against the fiery sky and enjoy the friendly atmosphere with locals. Visitors can also climb a tower for panoramic views of the town, wharf, and coastline. Nearby amenities include good food, drinks, and accommodation options.
Great view of the bay and pier. Go to the pier and up on the tower for an even better view. Plenty of stuff to see and also birds and crustaceans too. Remember to bring a jacket because it tends to rain whenever it wants to including summer months too.
Doua M — Google review
Port Angeles is very disappointing place but the proximity to the Olympic Park entrances is compensating the above. Could be a great base for many hikes in the adjacent Park. City Pier is worthy to visit. Stayed in a small renovated (expensive) clean house equipped with everything you need.
M. D — Google review
Great view from the tower! Visited here from the sunrise, sunset and the most important one…super moon!
SH — Google review
We love the view from this tower. It's an easy climb on marine heavy duty stairs that are nice and wide, too. You can see the town, the wharf really well, and there's plenty of room on the platform. Although the whole town basically has great views due to tiered coastline where the mostly uniform building heights rise evenly and do not obstruct the vast Strait of San Juan de Fuca and Olympic mountains!
BREE P — Google review
Wonderful location but would advise visiting during the off season. I've been here many times and although it's beautiful in the summer, it's crowded as heck and will just spoil the fun with the gobs of tourists. Find a pleasant day during the winter and you'll be able to actually enjoy the scenery without a bunch of people rubbing elbows with you. Worth the trip though.
Daniel B — Google review
Good place to hang out and kill time while waiting for the ferry. You can get some good photos here and it’s a pretty peaceful spot.
Kiet T — Google review
I love stopping at the pier when I come through Port Angeles gives me a chance to try to conquer my fear of climbing to the top of the tower. But once you get to the top of the tower the view is spectacular a complete 360-degree View another amazing beautiful sight is the murals painted on the wall of the museum

Nice views. Peaceful. Tower was closed but still nice views on a somewhat cloudy and rainy Sunday.

Kokopelli Grill

Seafood restaurant
Kokopelli Grill is a top dining spot in downtown Port Angeles, offering waterfront views from its upstairs bar area. The restaurant is known for its handcrafted southwest cuisine and fresh local seafood, including dishes like cedar plank salmon and seafood risotto. With an extensive wine list and a full wine shop, guests can even purchase a bottle to take back with them. The cozy atmosphere and Pacific Northwest-inspired menu make Kokopelli Grill a must-visit for those who love seafood.
The best of the best! 🐟🍝 Just be prepared for a bit of a wait for the food. I loved the chowder with the crackers—so comforting and flavorful. The oysters were amazing—super fresh and delicious! I wouldn’t really recommend the crane shrimp though—it was a bit too sweet for my taste. The Kokobelli combo was great, offering a variety of seafood to try, and the seafood pasta was also a hit! Overall, it was a bit pricey, but definitely worth trying at least once.
Yongqi Y — Google review
My fiancé and I ordered the gumbo and salmon chowder, both were pretty good. We also shared the coconut shrimp which was probably the best coconut shrimp we’ve ever had. However, the crab cakes were so so so bad. I cannot stress enough how bad they were. I couldn’t get one bite down without gagging. My fiancé had two bites. Nobody inquired about the entree. By the time we were checked on, the side of fries (which were delicious) were pretty much done. Manager said the best he could do was 10% off and hopes we return in the future. The check was brought to our table immediately. Despite that we were ordering food in increments - we still had menus with the intention to order more. Respectfully, the bare minimum is to ensure the quality of your product. We’re not only disappointed by the crab cakes but the overall lack of hospitality. We left the restaurant still hungry. The dish was $29 so we boxed it for the dog..
Brittany G — Google review
We would definitely recommend this restaurant.. We had the coconut shrimp to start and our entrees were the salmon and the crab and avocado salad. Both were delicious! The clam chowder was amazing. The service was impeccable. Definitely make a reservation and enjoy a truly amazing meal.
Betty H — Google review
An absolute gem in downtown Port Angeles! Huge portions of outstanding seafood in a town that truly could use more. The New Orleans grilled oysters were honestly some of the best I've ever had, and the smoked salmon chowder is a unique twist on a classic. I would highly recommend the smoked salmon fettuccine or the kokopelli platter as an entree. Definitely the best restaurant in Port Angeles and I would go out of my way to come back!
Matthew B — Google review
We were visiting in the area, and were looking for a unique place for dinner. Their smoked salmon chowder caught our eyes, so we decided to give this place a try The butter that comes with the bread is made in-house with honey and some type of chili pepper 🌶️. It tasted so good! The prickly pear vinaigrette salad dressing also tasted great to us. Salad we order was fresh We would have loved to have roasted oysters, but they were out. We settled with raw oysters instead, which was delicious. The sauce that comes with it was on the sour side to us The rest of the entrees were all seafood, and we were not disappointed Our server was very friendly and was happy to serve us. Whenever we said the food was good, she got very excited and would say, "Yay!" Very cute We will definitely stop by again when we visit the area in the future
Opinion T — Google review
After searching for a place in Pirt Angeles as a follower to our great experience at Yodelin, we chose Kokopelli. It was heavily seafood focused. It had a wine list (with vintages listed). The menu looked good. So we made a reservation and went tonight. Service by our server was good. We got our caesar salads (as they came with the meal) but it was just ok. We set the plates off to the side. They stayed there for quite some time. My wife noticed two plates had been brought to our general dining area but had been there for 10 minutes. Wauting to be served to someine. Just sitting there. The next thing you know, a different staff person puts our appetizers in front of us and then asked if we were done the salads. Of course we were. But maybe he did not realize they had been sitting there for over 20 minutes. The grilled oysters involved cheese and were meant to be eaten while still gooey. But it had re-solidified. Why, because the dish was now room temperature. The crab cake appetizer was fine but lacked basic seasoning. Fortunately there was salt and pepper on the table. Moving on, while still eating the appetizers, our actual server drops our entrees to us explaining that she wanted us to get our food before a large party placed their orders (which I do appreciate, but hold them appropriately in the kitchen for 5 minutes while we finish the appetizers please). Initially the entrees were seemingly great. The miso glazed black cod was expertly cooked but too sweet. And then the fish stew. On paper the fish stew was an interpretation of a french bouilliabaise. Scallops, salmon, halibut, shrimp and more. Very well executed grilled crostini. And perfectly diced tiny potatoes. And andouille. But the chanterelle mushrooms listed on the menu were .missing, instead replaced with tiny beans (not on the menu). The shrimp was overcooked but all of the other seafood was very good, especially the scallops. But man alive the dish was almost inedible due to the amount of salt in the broth. The broth is what makes the dish. You want to to soak all of it up with the crostini, but no way I could do that. I tasted each element in the dish separately and they were all fine. It wad the broth that was massively oversalted. So. Would we have raised these issues (all of them) to the restaurant staff in real time, sure, but i would still be at the dinner waiting still. I did tell our server, prefixing it with an 'I do not want anything at all, but you should know this' and she apologized and said she would bring it to the attention of the management. The thing is, I could consider this a fluke. Every restaurant can have a table on a given night when things go off the rails. It happens. But the table right behind us did complain in real time about one of the dishes because they were served a dish that contained pork in some form. Which was not on the menu. And they could not eat pork. But it took them 30 minutes to get the fixed dish served to them. So two different tables with problems. Busy night, sure. Blame the 'big party'? Sure. But acknowledge your limits and don't take on more than you can handle. At the end, we were leaving and approaching the fro t door, the manager was there, a said not a word. Your mileage may vary, but we experienced a pretty off night there.

Just stopped in for drinks and apps. The clams in garlic and wine was very good- probably had 10 cloves of garlic. Ordered the fresh oysters , only wished they also served w cocktail sauce as well as the horseradish vinaigrette. Would recommend bc the menu looked great

We had a wonderful experience dining here with our entire family including small children. The selection on and quality of their menu is impeccable, with many seafood and steak selections to choose from. Our server was top notch, and following our visit the manager went out of their way to ship my lucky fishing hat back to me in Wisconsin, that I had left behind on accident!

With its warm hospitality and convivial ambiance, Bella Italia provides a memorable dining experience for both locals and visitors. We went there for dinner last night after a hike in Hurricane Hill. We were welcome with very good service and really enjoyed the food. I highly recommend the meatballs, mushroom ravioli, smoked salmon fettuccine and Caesar salad. You definitely need to have dinner there if you pass through Port Angeles ! We also learnt that this is a twilight saga famous restaurant and the mushroom ravioli the dish featured in the first movie !

A little disappointing. Starting with what was great, the food was delicious! Ordered the mushroom ravioli and meatball appetizer, which were both wonderful. The service, however, was not so great. The staff member who was filling water was very attentive. However, our main server was not as attentive and the food took quite some time to come out. Overall, food is great, but service was a bit on the slower side during our visit. Just something to keep in mind! 🩷

Cute little place! Obviously went here because of Twilight, but also it was the only Italian place I could find in Port Angeles that didn't serve only pizza. I had the manicotti (Bella's mushroom ravioli was sold out) and it was SO good! It's a very small local restaurant so keep that in mind and make reservations or you may not get a spot.

Just visited Bella Italiano for my birthday! The food was truly wonderful, as well as the staff and atmosphere. We started with a wonderful Caprese salad, my boyfriend got the Chicken Marsala, and I got the Butternut Squash Ravioli. Nice portion sizes and great quality. Awesome recommendations for our trip, great conversation, they also comped our dessert as a birthday treat. I don’t know if that’s standard or what — but it’s so appreciated. Thank you to RJ for wonderful service. I hope we get to come back again!

Had really high expectations for this place given the famous Bella mushroom ravioli. I’m a huge twilight fan but this place looks nothing like in the movie. It is still a cute atmosphere. The food however was not great. We ordered clams and expected them to be nice and fresh given how close it is to the water, however they tasted less than fresh. I also added shrimp to the mushroom ravioli (for 12$) and it was awful. The shrimp was overcooked and had pieces of shell on it still. There was also some odd spice on the shrimp that was like eating sand. My boyfriend got the smoked salmon fettuccini Alfredo and was also thoroughly disappointed. The salmon was waaaay overcooked and had a funky taste to it. If you eat here definitely stick to the simple mushroom ravioli. It was delicious. The focaccia bread was also delicious. The service was great. Just had high expectations for the seafood and was sadly disappointed. Also very pricy for the quality.
Mikayla J — Google review
So….to be completely honest The food was average and didn’t feel worth the high prices. We ordered spaghetti, Caesar salad, Alfredo, zucchini noodles, and a scallop appetizer (which only had five very tiny scallops). While the food was disappointing, the service was excellent, and we really appreciated that part of the experience. We visited because it was mentioned as a Twilight movie tourist spot but honestly I didn’t feel the twilight vibe 😭🤣🤣 I regret spending $145 for three people. I personally don’t think it was the best value for what we got. It’s cute for maybe a drink and a small appetizer - I’m Giving it 4 stars because of the service. It definitely was top notch!
Stephanie J — Google review
I may not have Italian in my blood, but I certainly have it in my stomach after eating here! This little harbor of Italy in Washington is home to a wonderful little establishment that can provide excellent food, service, and a wonderful atmosphere! We were served by the ever so gentlemanly RJ, who helped us with our menus and made sure we were sat promptly! The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, not too busy, not too empty, and they have lively Italian music playing at all times! As for the food, it’ll send you for a wonderful wash of flavor! I had the baked manicotti with the pine nut pesto and meatballs on the side, and it was simply divine! The ingredients all tased fresh with a sprinkle of “mama’s love” kind of cooking, and the pine nut pesto tasted like Christmas in June! I would absolutely recommend this fine establishment to anyone coming through! As a nice blackberry atop the lemon panna cotta to finish this, it’s wonderful that they stay open till 9, since so many places close at 8. I cannot recommend it enough!

My Mom and I went here during the Forever Twilight in Forks Festival. We had to try Bella's Mushroom Ravioli. That, along with the other items we tried, are simply delicious. The restaurant is one large room that gives off a comfy, family vibe. The staff was very friendly & took our picture for us to document the meal (iykyk). It's a place I'll visit again the next time I travel that way!

The restaurant is dedicated to providing an immersive dining experience with its traditional decor and use of genuine Thai ingredients like lemongrass, coconut milk, coriander, and sweet basil. Known for its vegan-friendly options and generous portion sizes, Sabai Thai is a popular choice for both lunch and dinner.
We arrived soon after they opened and see why our lodging suggested reservations if you go at dinner time--there was a line to be seated once we left! The food was delicious and staff was friendly and helpful in providing suggestions on the menu. We ordered the Chicken Satay, Spring Rolls, Chicken Pad Thai and Tofu Basil Noodle. We had more than enough for a second meal. High value experience! We wish we had more time in the area to try out more of the menu. Highly recommend dinner here if you are in the Port Angeles area.

After a long hike and driving, this is just what we needed. The first day was so busy we could only do takeout and even then that was phenomenal food. The next day, we loved it so much we went again, got seated, and the vibe and decoration, service, and food were absolutely spectacular. Waiting time was over an hour; however, it was worth it. We were a group of 3 and ordered a lot(portion sizes were also good) and finished it all. This picture is all you need to know that it was great (no garnishes left either) 🤣🤣

🌟 Hidden Gem We found this Thai restaurant completely by chance after leaving Olympic National Park and it was incredible! The food was delicious, super fast, and the portions were generous. Our favorite Thai food in the Port Angeles area! I got the duck curry special and it was delicious. All the dishes are made very mild so you can add spice levels to your preference (I appreciated this since I can’t do spice). The duck was tender and the coconut meat was delicious! My husband got the Pad Thai and it was super flavorful. Everything was very fresh and flavorful!

We stopped here for dinner after spending the day at Cape Flattery. The food was absolutely delicious; a flavor explosion with every bite! We ordered the tofu appetizer, Tom Kha soup with chicken, Pad Thai with chicken, lamb shank green curry, and mango ice cream for dessert. For drinks, we had Bhodi beer and blackberry cider; so refreshing and the perfect pairing with the food. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Friendly wait staff and owner; definitely worth the drive for authentic Thai cuisine or those with discerning tastes. We will definitely be back for another exciting culinary adventure! We returned two months later and had another stellar experience: fabulous food, friendly owner and waiter, and perfect booth tucked away from the main entrance. This time around, I chose the duck and hubby had chicken Pad Thai. Naturally, we added the Tom Kha soup and fried tofu appetizer. See the pics.

While it may not have the best reviews, its scenic dining room provides great views from every table. If you're exploring Port Angeles, this spot offers delicious seafood lunches and was voted as having the best fish and chips in Clallam County. Visitors rave about their perfectly cooked cod fish and chips, juicy fried oysters, and attentive staff.
Excellent seafood with good views of the water. At first I was disappointed because of the lack of exterior seating but now I realize that you have an awesome view of the water/docks without the wind. Service was phenomenal and the food was fresh and perfectly cooked. We had the clam in the bread bowel and the cod.

Solid Happy Hour with Friendly Service We stopped by Downriggers on the Water for happy hour and were pleased with the selection. The tempura asparagus and French dip sliders were definite highlights—fresh, flavorful, and nicely portioned for the price. Don't order the onion rings. The staff was friendly and service was prompt, which made for a relaxed experience. While the restaurant does offer water views, they weren’t especially memorable, and nothing to write home about. Overall, a good place to grab happy hour bites with attentive service and a casual atmosphere.

My dad and I are visiting here from out of state and stopped here for lunch/dinner. We started off with the poutine and it was amazing. Some of the best we’ve had. He had the salmon and chips which he absolutely loved. I had one of the burgers and it came on a pretzel bun and a house sauce. It was delicious. I ate about half of it. We would definitely come back here again.

Food price / quality (value) rating 8. The atmosphere is seaside tourist restaurant. Next to the ferry wharf in a multi-use building that includes an ice cream shop, low end art gallery, and game arcade, this restaurant also has mediocre ocean views. The restaurant itself is sparsely decorated, with a four seat bar, a bar dining room, and a larger dining room. The menu is pretty middle of the road. I had the Chicken Oscar which included a very small chicken breast filet, four nice, thin asparagus spears, and about three tablespoons of lobster meat and a nice Bernaise sauce. They allowed me to substitute a baked potato for rice. The entree was well made and tasty. The wife had the Cashew Vegetable Stir Fry, and it was quite large with a tangy teriyaki sauce. The vegetables weren't crispy, and it had a little too much teriyaki sauce. The service was very good.

The shoestring French fries are amazing and something you don’t just find anywhere. Really beautiful decor with pendant lights high windows, plants, and a great combination of warm light and natural light. Be warned, it’s a small restaurant. Whether you're craving fluffy pancakes, hearty omelets, or homemade bakery items like muffins and scones, Chestnut Cottage has something to satisfy your morning cravings.
Such an adorable place and wonderful spot to stop for breakfast. They were a bit short staffed so we had to wait a while to get a table but it still didn't take too long. The coffee was delicious and they refilled often. They have a great variety of unique menu items and baked goods. The chicken fried steak was the best my husband has said he has ever had. And he orders that regularly. I got potatoes instead of hash browns and they were perfectly cooked. The atmosphere here is very cute and cozy. All the staff were incredible.

Bomb breakfast! Everything we ordered was so tasty and generous portion! Especially love the coffee cake (huge slice) and my husband had country fried steak said it was the best one he had in a while. Our waitress was super lovely and kind as well. She made sure to double check my coffee cake had no coffee (I know I just learned today too!) Will definitely visit again next time we are in Port Angeles.

Woke up in Port Angeles hungry and we needed a great breakfast restaurant. Did a search and this one popped up first. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Cozy atmosphere and the best service I've seen in a while. I chose the Avocado Toast Benedict, one of their house specialties. It did not disappoint. The flavors were delectable and everything was so fresh. I was extremely pleased with this find and excited about the next time we are in Port Angeles, so we can try another of their delicious dishes.

I will travel to visit my friend here in Washington every year to explore national parks & this year it was Olympic. We are ALWAYS looking for the best breakfast/brunch places and this one was perfection! Such an amazing restaurant and atmosphere. The staff and owner were beyond perfection. All of the food was spectacular. If you are in the Port Angeles area this is a MUST dine location. You will not be disappointed in the least.

Wonderful food, atmosphere & service! We have been on the road since March and have eaten at many restaurants across 7 states and this made our "come back to" list. It was a very calm & pleasant environment, the wait staff was friendly & attentive, and the food was delicious! Good job management & staff! I had quiche & a salad and my husband had and omelet & a delicious piece of coffee cake. Great choice for brunch!

The atmosphere was great and I came in a big group of 10 and we were seated quite fast on a busy Saturday. I had the fish tacos and I actually shared the dish with my wife and the server (Suzanne) was wonderful and split the dish before bringing it to the table. She was great with the whole and made sure we all had a great dining experience. 5/5 Suzanne. My dish was wonderful!!! Best corn bread I've ever had and probably ever will. The fish tacos weren't fishy, and were cooked perfectly.

Pretty decent breakfast. There was wait on a Friday morning even though it was a work day. Once we sat down the service went by pretty fast and our food came out quick as well. No complains about anything.

Chestnut cottage was a cute restaurant, they have paraphernalia from various places for sale. The reception staff was polite and courteous. We were seated within 10 minutes of arrival. The table already had water set up for us and the kids. The coffee was good, we had ordered capacinno, mocha and jamocha. It did take a little time for breakfast to arrive, but the food was delicious. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, the Belgian waffles were light and airy with delicious fruit on top. I had ordered the vegetable hash brown which was crisp to perfection with well sautéed vegetable along with it. Even the sourdough toast was delicious.

Seafood restaurant
Nestled in Port Angeles, 929 Woodfire Grill is a casual-chic tavern known for its wood-fired pizza, BBQ, and inviting fire pits on the deck. This spot stands out as one of the top steakhouses in the area, offering a full seafood menu with access to incredibly fresh seafood from the nearby coast. The restaurant's specialties include faultlessly cooked filet steaks, Caesar salads, and pork ribs.
One of if not my favorite places to eat while visiting Washington for several reasons. 1: extremely well crafted food, most of which is cooked in a woodfire stove (as the name suggests) . 2: One of the best creme broulee's I have ever put in my mouth. Extremely perfected recipe so hats off to the chef. 3: Great atmosphere and heating on the deck for cooler days. 4: lastly, the staff. Shout out to Mika who did a extremely good job at handling all the tables and duties she has to do (at some points I felt she could have used more assistance). She deserves a break, raise, and a vacation. As a avid foodie I pay attention to this. Overall, I could not recommend this place enough to locals, or travelers afar. Very good job 929 Woodfire Grill!

The waitstaff was very friendly and they were very busy. They seemed to enjoy working there. We got the enjoyed our apps and shared the seafood platter entry. The lemon cheese cake was also phenomenal.

One word - PHENOMENAL!! Appetizers to desert this place is FABULOUS. We have been traveling for 2 weeks and this is the best place we have been to. All dishes were so fresh and had so much flavor. Cajun shrimp were amazing. Entrees were spectacular. Deserts were excellent. Highly recommend. A++

5 Star food and service! Holiday weekend means a little bit of a wait, but take your time and enjoy the beautiful historic house turned upscale jazzy funky restaurant that is also kid friendly. The blankets were a bonus for the cool evening breeze and the food was literally hand made with love, every bite was prepared with through understanding of the dish and authenticity/freshness that you don't find nowadays in our busy world. Fresh chanterelle mushrooms, extensive wine menu, and entrees to leave you full and cleaning your plate! Love 929 Wood fire grille and all the staff! Perfect Port Angeles Welcome for us to the PNW!

Food and service has been great for the last 5 visits, but I won't be going back after last week. My friend (visiting from Texas) ordered the special, Cajun blackened sirloin upon my recommendation. I've eaten this special 3 times now, and it's always been amazing. Best steak I've ever had. However, this time it was way too spicy, even for my Texas friend. When we notified the staff, they took it back and "washed" it? It came back without sauce and well done (dry), and STILL too spicy. When asked what could be done, they said we should have known better and there were no substitutions. Rude and disrespectful. What a shame.

The food is excellent and we love coming here. Tonight our group had chicken parmesan and baby back ribs. Both were incredible! Our server was Lily and she was knowledgeable and cheerful. Checked on us enough without being too much. A great evening!

A cozy, warm restaurant with a relaxed and welcoming environment that is perfect for a date night, catching up with friends or a family dinner! The at-home feel of this restaurant is a pleasant change from your classic restaurant booth/table setup, but doesn’t take away from the service which was fast and attentive! The best part was the incredible food, which was not just delicious but was a generous amount as well. The peanut butter pie was literally the best pie I’ve ever had; 10/10 would recommend.

I came to listen to live music. What a cool little venue Bruce & Cathy (owners) have created. I had the small (3-piece) fish & chips with sweet potato fries. The fish is beer-battered. The pieces are huge. It was super yummy. The peanut butter pie is to die for. It has a tangy cheesecake taste. My server, Jackie, was fabulous.

My wife and I popped in for a beer and snack while our EV was charging, early in the afternoon Friday Aug 29th. We were pleasantly surprised with the service and the quality of the food we received. It was some of the best nachos we've eaten! The lone person on staff was exceptional (playing both bartender and server). She had such a positive attitude and gave great service. We would definitely visit again!

Very pleasant family restaurant. Generous portions, fabulous service, clean, quiet for weeknight dinner. French dip with side salad. All very fresh, a little too much food for me. Great Margarita rocks!

I don't know why this place has a 4.0 out of 5.0 rating on Google because this place was great! The servers were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing! I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was honestly better than most burgers I've had lately, including Red Robin. Give this place a try, you'll love it!

We came on New Year’s day. Nice place to get dinner, but service was bad. Someone placed us at a table immediately, but our server forgot about us completely and did not even bring us water until someone else noticed and did. When ordering, the server was not very friendly and made me uncomfortable of asking questions even though it was my husband and I’s first time there. When we ordered, she didn’t even care to clarify how things work. I got the fish and chips and my husband got the Joshua burger, I think. He got the clam chowder as a side, but we actually had to pay extra for it. According to the menu, it says it’s included, but I guess not. I will say the clam chowder was delicious though. We also asked for ketchup for the fries and lemon for our water, and they forgot about it. She eventually remembered to bring our ketchup, so there’s that. I’ll try other places before going back here when I visit Port Angeles next time.

We had a great lunch at New Day Eatery. We were returning from Hurricane Ridge after our day hike and are so glad to find this vegetarian friendly restaurant with a large selection. We had egg shakshuka, vegan BBQ and pesto burgers which comes with salad or fries sides. We also enjoyed butternut squash soup and cooled off with amazing mangonada and peach blended lemonades. We chose to sit outside under the umbrella to enjoy our lunch. Overall a great find. I highly recommend this place who is looking to enjoy a meal in this town.

Omg omg omg!! Guys if you are a vegan or vegetarian or one that enjoys good food… this place is the BEST! From the time we got seated to ordering and having our breakfast brought over by the Chef Hammond snd Team… We were super excited and all of our family loved all their meals. My fav was the vegan breakfast sandwich, but everyone’s meals were equally delicious and soo flavorful. After the meal I asked to speak to chef Hammond, and learnt, that they cook everything fresh inhouse! Hope this place would open in my town Orlando 🙌😍

My god I had NO IDEA vegan breakfast sandwiches could taste so good. I left this place feeling culinarily inspired and honestly as someone who has lived in and near NYC most of my life, famous for it's breakfast sandwiches, these were the best I have ever tasted. Does this place have a Michelin star?? I feel like it might!

Charming restaurant with a lovely menu. Food was great. Fresh avocado toast did not disappoint. The pickled onions were perfect on the avocado. The egg over easy was done to perfection. Veggie burrito was delightful... first one filled with a variety of vegetables and no beans. Amazing. I would definitely go back and try more on the menu.

New Day Eatery - Port Angeles, WA Heading to Victoria, BC for their VegFest event by way of Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles. If you're looking for vegan options in Port Angeles, wow ... New Day Eatery is THE place to be! They have a large separate vegan menu with Breakfast, Brunch and Sandwich options. Their vegan menu isn't the only thing that's large, as their portion sizes are huge! But wait, in addition to a large vegan menu, and an amazing variety of options with large sizes, there's ... more 🫢! They also have an extensive array of vegan desserts available, cakes, scones, brownies and cinnamon rolls 😮. We ordered a slice of both, their Peanut Butter Cake and their Espresso Cake. These can best be described as dense and very hearty cakes (as opposed to light and fluffy), absolutely delicious and one slice will fill you up easy! Side note, their bathroom is huge and so cheerful lol See, I told you this is THE place to grab vegan chow when visiting Port Angeles 🤤😉, you don't want to miss it!

Fantastic spot for breakfast in Port Angeles. The Breakfast Poutine was good all around and the French Toast just the right balance of rich flavor without being overly sweet. The coffee was also very well done and everything had decent portion sizes.

When I saw there was a place in Port Angeles with a whole vegan breakfast menu, I had to make sure to stop on our way back from camping on the peninsula. Food was incredible, service was warm, and food came out pretty fast.

Service is pretty good but the food leaves room for improvement. They ask you how you want your egg but don’t listen to it, guacamole burger came without guacamole and when I asked about that they gave me a side of “guacamole” which was literally just mashed avocado nothing more nothing less… bun on the burger was a little stale. And there was a bunch of food under the tables.

Nice little pizza place! Greeted by a very sweet, soft-spoken, and very kind lady by the name Sarah at the front counter. We got here 30 minutes prior to closing, and it was busy for a Saturday night. We ordered our pepperoni pizza and 2 Mac n jack beers. She stated that if we dined in, it was not a worry and reassured us. She brought us our beers, and 10 minutes later, pizza arrived super hot from the oven. They have so many pies and cheesecakes fresh in a cooler and many flavors to choose to please everyone! I highly recommend this place if you ever add Port Angeles to your travel itinerary. Thank you Gordy's for a great experience and Yummy Pizza!!! We will be back!

In town on a Saturday night. It was 930 at night, and we were running out of options. We talked to a local who suggested Gordy's. We were greeted by Sarah. We were overwhelmed with the many menu options, and Sarah was so patient and helpful. Our beers arrived quickly and the pizza arrived only a few minutes later. The pizza was delicious. Ours was just a pepperoni pizza. The pizzas we saw going out to other tables looked amazing. There are plenty of beer and wine options. The desserts looked so good, but we had no room. The cheesecakes, pies, and baked goods will be sampled in the future. Great place, I'm so glad we chose Gordy's.
Stephen T — Google review
I appreciate that Gordy's makes great food, and we're happy to pay for the quality. However, our recent carry-out order took almost an hour instead of the promised 15-20 minutes. My wife waited inside for almost 30 minutes, and we felt a little put on the spot when the tip option came up, especially since there was no offer to make up for the long wait. A small gesture, like a complimentary soft drink while waiting or a discount on a future order, would have made the long wait feel much more manageable. The food is great, but a little customer gratification goes a long way.
Roy — Google review
Garlic bread was rich and delightful. Just the right amount of crisp. In the salmon fettuccine, the salty salmon flavor reveals itself through the sauce, the tastes of both of them combining into one crescendo of alrightness. Better than the Costco chicken alfredo. The pasta also came out pretty quick. Hawaiian pizza was alright.
Brent H — Google review
Place is really awkward. Lacks a manager there. You place your order at the cashier, the waiter doesn’t go to your table, you must get your own cutlery and napkins- they do not bring with them food. Spaghetti was extremely plain. And How you manage to make a garlic bread that doesn’t taste like garlic lol?! Restaurant was super dirty and there were dirty dishes all over the tables. I was starving and that was my only option close to 9pm. Just don’t eat there

We visited Port Angeles for a day and a half and came here twice! Food was good and the menu has something for everyone. Trying to pick a good pizza or sandwich alone was hard because of al the great options! Service was also amazing! Super friendly and helpful staff. If we're ever in the area again we will definitely return!! The chocolate mint creme pie was also amazing 😍
Nicole D — Google review
This is an old-school, locally owned place that is just a delight. The staff are super nice and the food is fresh and tasty. I rate a pizza place based on the quality of their dough, and Gordy's is excellent. The prices are also very reasonable. I'll definitely be back with my family.

We were on a trip and decided we wanted pizza. We picked this restaurant off the map and took a chance. This place was everyrhing we hoped for. The freshly made pizza with a wonderful crust exceeded our expectations! We had a great amber beer to go with the pizza. The atmosphere was wholesome with many locals enjoying their favorite pizza. We ended our meal with fabulous desserts. Thank you for the great service and great food!

Transportation in Port Angeles

Getting around Port Angeles can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Bellingham International Airport

International airport
Airport
Bellingham International Airport (BLI) is conveniently situated just 6.2 miles from Joe Martin Stadium, offering direct flights from participating destinations through Allegiant Airlines and Alaska Airlines. Despite being smaller and more compact than other airports in the region, BLI provides a hassle-free travel experience with minimal crowds and efficient TSA/security procedures, including the option for TSA PreCheck. As a sister airport to Abbotsford airport, it offers a similar number of gates and flight options through low-cost carriers.
2024-July. This is a small airport. We had to de-board outside upon arrival. We arrived 2 hours before our departure and we got our luggage checked in and we went through security in about 5 minutes. The airport was clean. 5-stalled ladies' restroom & water bottle refill station is across Gate C. There was one nursing pod beside Gate C. There were 2 quick bites stores when we arrived early in the morning. Benches do not have the armrest so we can lie down across the seats. There are plug-in stations along the windows. Have a safe flight ✈️.
Cindy R — Google review
Bellingham International Airport – 9.5/10 BLI is a great option for anyone looking to skip the chaos of larger airports like YVR or SeaTac. It offers a clean, well-organized terminal with a friendly, small-town feel that makes the whole travel experience smoother and less stressful. Staff are helpful, lines are short, and everything from check-in to security is efficient. Daily parking is only $10 USD, which is a huge plus, and rental cars are easy to access right on site. The airport also has a small restaurant that serves a solid espresso and some light meal options—great for a quick stop before boarding. While it’s not a large airport, it covers all the essentials with ease and comfort. A super convenient and pleasant alternative for regional travel.
Julio Y — Google review
Sister airport to the Abbotsford airport, but on the other side of the border. Like the Abby airport, this one has 5 gates too and offers some decent flight options to US and some international(?) destinations through low cost carriers. Because of the small size, you tend to be in-and-out in no time. Security is pretty easy as well. Have found the staff here (of Allegiant air, which is what I have flown) to be very helpful and courteous. Airport also has long term car parking with options to park closer (more expensive) or at a small distance to the airport (cheaper at about USD10/day) with shuttle service. I have noticed though that this airport typically does not show as a "Nearby" airport when searching with SEA or YVR. So I have to literally search with BLI
Jagdeep R — Google review
Canadians be careful flying out of here. U.S. customs opens up 2 lanes these days, promises 70 minute waits but it actually takes 3 hours to cross the border. I almost missed my flight. If you are flying out of here, try to cross the border 8-9 hours before your flight. Waiting 3 hours and getting sent to secondary will pretty much ensure you miss your flight. Crossing the border into the USA isn’t simple anymore.

I never thought I'd have a pleasant experience at an airport. The airport staff are genuinely very kind and helpful. Everything is very clean. Things are run efficiently. Great airport!

Really like this airport! Landed and departed from this airport in July 2022 for our Southwest Airlines flight to/from Denver. We usually use SeaTac International Airport when we visit family/friends in Vancouver, but this airport gives SeaTac a good run for its money. Bellingham International Airport (BLI) is much smaller/compact, no huge crowds, and TSA/security was a breeze to get through - no long queues, no wait, no fuss. And they have TSA PreCheck too. There are only 5 gates, all at ground level, so you have to use a ramp to get on/off the plane, but it's all part of the fun of using a small airport. Luggage came out very quickly, and rentacar desks (Avis, Budget, etc.) are all located inside the terminal building, so no shuttle bus rides to a distant, off-site location. Southwest doesn't fly directly to BLI from Denver, so one can connect through Oakland or Las Vegas to use BLI, but it sure beats the long drive up from SeaTac on Interstate 5. BLI is only 20-30 minutes away from the Blaine/Pacific US/Canada border crossings. There's a Costco nearby too, if you need to get some eats and fill up the petrol for your car. Overall a great little airport!
Shingo I — Google review
This airport is so cute! The way that you board is a throwback to old times. I'll be sad when it gets big and crowded like all the others. Three days b4 Thanksgiving and it was practically empty. All of the employees (especially the lady at the coffee shop) were so friendly! As you can see the SW employees were getting ready for Christmas hanging decorations. Loved it!
CaliGirl919 — Google review
This airport is extremely small, four gates. Park right outside the front doors. This is a fantastic airport to get in and out of quickly. There are a couple things to eat, a great little coffee shop with some food, snacks, and coffee, etc.

Victoria International Airport

International airport
Airport
Victoria International Airport, located about 16 miles north of the city center, offers a convenient and pleasant travel experience. The airport features colorful outdoor sculptures, free WiFi, and a children's play section. Renovations are currently underway but do not disrupt the overall travel process. With about 13 departure gates, it is easy to navigate and security lines are usually quick. Rental car counters are conveniently located near the arrival area, making it easy for travelers to access transportation upon landing.
It's a beautiful clean airport. Big large bathrooms, the coat hooks are little low to the ground but still work. They got local distillery booth inside, Spinnaker's restaurant, water bottle refill station, two baggage claim conveyor belts and lots of rental car booths. One of the nicest airports I have been to. The security is very thorough. I don't think they had nexus line at airport open in the evening, but maybe in the day.

Victoria Airport exceeded my expectations! It’s clean, well-designed, and compact — making navigation smooth and stress-free. The layout is efficient, and everything is easy to find. Staff were courteous, and the overall atmosphere was calm and welcoming. A very good experience overall, especially compared to busier airports.

Another cute regional "international" airport in Canada. The building itself is constructed beautifully and obviously with Blocally sourced wood. Super easy to navigate, limited stores and options before and after security. Expect limited transportation options - there is a bus running from a hub to this airport but this bus does not run often enough.
Tim C — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Victoria International Airport (YYJ) I was really impressed by how friendly, polite, and well-mannered everyone was — from the airport staff to the security and cleaning crew. You can truly feel the West Coast warmth here! The airport itself is quite small, but that’s actually what makes it so pleasant. Everything is easy to find, there are no long walks between gates, and the whole place feels calm and relaxed — not stressful like most big airports. What really stood out to me was the cleanliness. The washrooms were spotless — honestly, the cleanest I’ve ever seen in any airport! You can tell the staff take pride in keeping the place tidy and welcoming. Even though it’s a small airport, it has a cozy and organized atmosphere, good signage, and a smooth flow from check-in to boarding. The people, the cleanliness, and the overall peaceful vibe make it one of the nicest travel experiences I’ve had in Canada. Highly recommend this airport — small but full of heart!

This was our first time flying to Victoria, as we usually drive all the way from Alberta. Traveling to Victoria was a smooth and pleasant experience. However, our return trip to Calgary was not very good. While checking in our bag at the WestJet bag drop counter, the lady with short hair was very rude and acted in a racist manner. It was extremely disappointing, and to make matters worse, our flight was delayed for 2 hours.
Kedz V — Google review
Small and quaint airport. Everything is clean and well spaced. Ample amount of seating and natural light. There is an adequate amount of food for the size of the airport. They also have an Empress gin on site and a convenient store. Not too much to walk around but very easy and straight forward to navigate.

Harbour Air - Victoria

Airline
Transportation service
Harbour Air Seaplanes is a popular choice for travelers, offering smooth take-offs and landings with the opportunity to sit in the co-pilot's seat if it's available. The noise level is lower than other options, providing better views of the surroundings. However, there may be some delays without proper updates. Despite this, complimentary coffee and snacks are provided in a good lounge area with relatively clean washrooms.
One of the best experiences ever. 100% worth it. You go upto 2000ft. Fairly quick, Would recommend you get the extended package and fly upto 35 minutes. Our total air time was 16-17 mins. Amazing crew.

Great experience, beautiful view! Only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because I was sitting on the left side and my views were mostly (not all) of water and small islands, my husband sat on the right and he got the best pictures (see below) I think thought I'd see the same thing on our way back but that was not the case. Recommend sitting on the right (2 seats together) for an incredible view. Great experience and would recommend.

Trip highlight for sure, we booked the priority pass which means we got to get into the plane first and pick our seats (they only allow 3 per flight) highly recommend it as you can get the single seats on the left. This was a amazing flight!

I love the coast - so a harbour airport in the city seems great to me! It's on the water, restaurants nearby. And harbour to harbour is just so nice and convenient!

A favorite beach on Galiano Island, perfect for kyaking, swimming, sunbathing and boating. An excellent campsite near by, an open space to kick a ball, Family friendly and beautiful scenery. Highly recommended, do check out this beach if you're on the Island!

Wonderful park with a lot of outdoor activities to enjoy hiking, biking or camping. Has an easy comfortable trail to reach the gorgeous white sandy beach. Enjoyed admiring the amazing views, watching the sailing boats, the serene ocean, and flying birds until sunset. It was a rewarding and relaxing feeling to commune with nature.

Beautiful location. Provincial Park nearby. Nice beaches. Very sheltered for boats. There are mooring buoys, but on busy weekends they get taken early.

Excellent place for some biking, boating, and hiking as well camping in some areas. Beautiful park with a lot to see. Very quiet and serene, lush vegetation with trees that seem to reach into the sky. I've never seen a beach made of shells before, it was an awesome experience. The water is very calm and clear, take the time to walk in the water and on the beach. Stop and check out the cool marine life during low tide.

This is our family’s favourite campsite. Historic and beautiful white shell beaches formed from a midden where Indigenous people used to harvest shellfish. Stunning sunsets, diverse choice of campsites, and a lot of nature to explore from ocean, forest, bog to bioluminescence, seals, eagles and more. We’ve been coming here for almost twenty years. A gem on Galiano Island. Don’t worry if you can’t reserve. There is usually room in the field.

This is a nice spot for families to enjoy the beach or go for an easy hike around the edge of the bay close to the water. The hike is a loop that ends up back at the parking lot. Some areas allow you to drop down to small beaches along the route.

10/10 the best Harbour Marine Park I’ve ever been to on Galiano Island. Also possibly the only one. The trails are wonderful and relaxed and shady while still providing amazing views of the water. It’s fun to watch sailboats stroll into the bay and weigh anchor. I had a wonderful time on the beach where the beautiful white sand is actually just a million smoothed out sea shells! It’s a beautiful place.

Nice boat harbor with park on the north end. Restaurant and bar overlooking the marina was nice. Small convenience store. Friendly local staff. There is no place here to buy beer or wine for the boat, if you're looking for that you need to go to the other side of the island by the ferry dock. Enormous power lines strung across the harbor take a lot away from the view and ambiance. Otherwise a great stopping point on a gulf island cruise.
