National Mustard Museum

Museum
Condiments supplier
The National Mustard Museum in Middleton, just a short drive from downtown Madison, is a quirky and unique attraction celebrating the history of this beloved condiment. With over 6,200 mustards from around the world on display, visitors can explore the diverse flavors at the tasting bar and browse through mustard-related exhibits and artifacts. Founded by Barry Levenson in 1992, this museum offers an extensive collection of mustards along with memorabilia and artwork dedicated to this flavorful staple.
This place is so dang cool. History of mustard. They have so many different mustards here from all over the world and in each state in America. Such a cool little place and it was free. They did have where you can donate to the very cool museum. The staff working there and in the store are just so very nice and informative. The store is neat as well being they have so many different types of mustard to buy. Bonus you can taste over hundred and fifty different kinds of mustards. I bought some Honey Raspberry Mustard and it is so tasty that I am going back to buy more.
Jeremy — Google review
Great little stop that is packed with information about mustard. All the stuff you wanted to know and all the stuff you didn’t know you wanted to know. Like, did you know the Egyptians buried their dead with mustard seeds? Sounds like a great idea. Also, go to the store and try a bunch of different kinds of mustard. Did you think that one was a little too heavy on the dill? They will suggest a different one. Are you a yellow mustard lover? They have a specific mustard they will suggest for you. I personally bought five different kinds of mustard.
Brenda P — Google review
Great little FREE museum to find out more than you ever needed to know about mustard! Did you know there used to be a thing called mustard baths that were supposed to make you feel divine? Also, there is a mini theater that shows you the process and history of mustard. Finally, at the end of your visit there is a taste testing station with hundreds of different flavors and varieties! Even a mustard hater will find one they like!
FunThings F — Google review
Mustard Museum is a surprisingly fun stop. It's free to enter and packed with unique mustard history and memorabilia. There is a free tasting bar where you can sample dozens of mustards—from mild to wild. Great gift shop with every mustard imaginable.
Asiri B — Google review
The little town of Middleton, Wisconsin has an off the beaten track museum that’s really interesting; The National Mustard Museum! Started on 1982, the museum is located downtown and houses a collection of over 6,000 mustards from all 50 states and a whopping 70 countries! It’s free admission and it’s a really neat informational place to see different types of mustard seed all the way to a prepared condiment. Plus all the paraphernalia supplies that go along with serving it. The store has 1,000’s of mustards for sale but thankfully they have them categorized and each country even has its own shelf. They made it fun by having a large tasting station in the rear of the store that has over 100 mustards ready to taste. We had a lot of fun tasting and settled on a mutatde’ (French) whereby the original recipe dates back to 1760. It’s still sold the same way- in a ceramic jar sealed with wax. Also a Japanese hot mustard and a couple others. They have an online store which will be great to order gifts and more mustard. It’s a fun place and believe me, the mustards are all amazing!
Michelle F — Google review
A very cute museum. Small but jam packed full of information about mustard! You have to appreciate all the little quirks and jokes inside the museum. That reminds me, the museum is downstairs - I don't remember seeing if there was an elevator, which may prove a challenge for folks with physical disabilities. You can spend up to one, one and a half hours here if you stop and read every placard the way I was. Very small museum, but admission is free. Donations appreciated. The best part was the mustard tasting upstairs. Shopping for mustard was great. Parking is free. Beautiful fountain outside.
Kiki 6 — Google review
Free admission, and yes I was surprised at first that there's a mustard museum, but it makes sense since there are so many different flavors possible. The museum displays are downstairs and the gift shop and tasting area are on the first floor. There are tons of different mustards to choose from, and it's hard to know which ones to sample since you're basically going by jar labels and the taste can't always be captured by the words. We spent a long time trying different samples to decide which ones to take home (staff was patient and helpful). The sampling isn't self-serve so they give you a small scoop on a disposable spoon for each one you want to try. Came home with a few bottles of different flavors
Sarah R — Google review
This kitchy, quirky museum was a large bit of fun for this mustard lover. The museum itself was small, but packed full of fun facts about mustard from its history to its making. But the highlight of the experience was the gift shop. Be sure to ask to try any (or all) of the 106 mustards they have available for sampling. There are many more choices than that along with some fun merch to buy. Even better? The entire event is free. What are you waiting for?

Pheasant Branch Conservancy

Mentioned on
4 lists
Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Pheasant Branch Conservancy, a 550-acre protected wildlife area, offers a variety of landscapes and outdoor activities. With hiking and biking trails that provide downtown views, visitors can enjoy easy nature walks or day-long hikes. The conservancy is part of Middleton's extensive network of sidewalks, paths, and trails that connect residents to various parts of the city. Additionally, wayfinding signs along many trails feature QR codes that provide helpful information when scanned with a smartphone.
Love this place. Trails to walk, run, or bike. Different habitats to view birds. Eagle nest with young to view early May 2025. Well maintained & beautiful. Several small parking areas around the perimeter.
Rebecca F — Google review
I went on the Pheasant Branch and Fredrick's Hill Loop trail, about 4.2 miles, with my dog. I loved how the scenery changed over the course of the trail. My favorite part was Fredrick's Hill Loop. While the most strenuous part, the view was beautiful! Most of the trail is paved or gravel and there was a fair amount of traffic. Next time I want to check out the dog free trails that go down into the sedge wetlands.
Lucy Q — Google review
Absolutely stunning walking/running/biking trails in the middle of an urban/residential area with plenty of natural beauty and wildlife. The trails are cement paved which makes it perfect for a variety of activities. There are multiple entrances to this park, the area I entered didn't have a specific parking lot but other entrances do. This park is free and open for public use.
Grace M — Google review
I discovered Pheasant Branch Conservancy when I worked at Common Ground Cafe & Gathering Place at the corner of Branch St. and Century Avenue before the pandemic. One of the entrances into the conservancy was across the street. It's a wonderful place to hike, bird watch, and generally enjoy nature. Walking along Pheasant Branch Creek is relaxing and beautiful. The huge prairie, oak savanna, wetlands, and intermittent woodlands are teeming with floral and fauna. It is one of those diverse places that is beautiful and captivating throughout all four seasons.
Robin K — Google review
What an amazing gem to have in our backyards! To be clear- as someone that plans entire vacations around visiting national parks and hiking through some of the most beautiful nature on the planet, PBC is not somewhere I would recommend going out of your way to visit. But as a place to just stop and take a stroll on a random day after work, it cannot be beat. Springs, streams, ponds, native burial mounds, forest, prairie, and two of the tallest hills around all lie within the boundaries here, and you can see it all within a couple hours of relatively easy walking. Or you can skip the side paths and get through the main 3 mile loop in about an hour, but you'll be missing a lot of what makes it so special. The hills have just enough incline to get your heart going without getting too sweaty, and the loose gravel is well maintained. I've also biked the loop many times on hybrid tires without issue, but you do need to watch out for gravel that has washed away, and parts of the southern path narrow and get a bit uncomfy if there's any traffic. There are almost always deer & geese to see, but it's not rare to spot a less common bird (like the resident bald eagles). The river otter was the most exciting wildlife spotting to me though. And it's a phenomenal backdrop for sunsets. I've just started my journey into mindful photography, but so far this is my favorite spot in the area to capture both the sunset itself and the beautiful light that a setting sun casts on everything else. All-in-all, it's an amazingly diverse and beautiful chunk of land, and it's almost hard to believe that it's just sitting there as part of our local neighborhood. I think the only other places around that have any more beautiful or unique parts are Devil's Lake or Gov. Dodge, both of which are so much further away that it becomes a whole day event to go visit them. How fortunate we are to have this in our backyard!
James M — Google review
There are beautiful views from on top of the burial hill and plenty of long, wide enjoyable walking/biking trails. Far out into nature, there are few city sounds and a nice quiet peace of mind. The area is well kept up. I especially enjoyed the wooden bridges and the creeks below.
Patrick K — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous urban park! I was reading through reviews and I found pretty much every single one of the low reviews to be laughable! People complain of getting 4 mosquito bites, being able to see houses and not feeling out of the city, and there being better prairies or trout streams or whatever in the area etc. The thing is....this is an URBAN park and wetland. If your intent is to find remote hiking, then this was never the place you should be seeking out and giving it a poor rating based on that is unfair. That's comparing apples to oranges. This park is literally 15min from Downtown Madison. It is in no way remote and given it's size and being surrounded on all sides by city, it is foolish to expect to have trails to yourself or not be able to see houses etc I love visiting urban parks and green spaces and this is the best one I've seen in a long time, certainly the best I have seen in Wisconsin so far. The prairie was in full bloom and there were dozens of different types of flowers in bloom with several species of butterflies and bees all about. The main 3 mile loop trail around the park offered tons of different vantage points and types of habit to walk through. I was there after heavy rains and it was nice that all the boardwalks had anti-slip materials on every other board so it was super easy and safe to walk on. I can honestly say I can't think of a single improvement I would like to see. It was spectacular!
Christine N — Google review
Gorgeous conservancy in the heart of the Madison Metropolitan Area. While in this beautiful nature escape in the middle of Middleton, you'll think you're in a nature retreat and forget you're only 10 minutes from downtown. With miles of dirt, paved, and raised wooden trails, you can come back several times and find new views.

Came to grab a quick beer between activities. Bier Garten was the only section only, but very relaxing in the shade, with some good music and a great selection of beer. Sat early PM stop recommended.
Tim — Google review
Excellent, knowledgeable bartender. I described what makes a beverage tasty. Sarah presented several samples, we narrowed it down to 3, creating the perfect triumvirate for a 90+degree afternoon.
Kathleen K — Google review
Capital is an old standard in Madison brewing. 15 of there beers on tap plus a seltzer and a couple guest taps. My last stop they had Munich dunkel, IPA, Pils, lager, amber, maibock, doppelbock, sour, NE IPA, barleywine, shandy, pumpkin, kellerbier, and some ciders. All the are good. They are clean, many crisp, and tasty. Their beers generally aren't thick, creamy but if you like dark beers like I do this should still be a place to stop. There tasting room has a lot of history and the service is very friendly. They have a ton of space for events especially in the summer I have attended several charity outings. I will come back again.
Adam D — Google review
Needed to kill some time and saw the people gathered so stopped in. Like their beer for sure and have had it at home. Didn’t know what to expect, thinking it was a beer tour but didn’t see anything like that. Just a beer garden, beers on tap to pick from and then sat down. I even bought a couple T-shirts. Hot day, fun atmosphere but wish they had had more of a gift shop or tour type experience.
DC T — Google review
Good beer. Nice beer garden.
James L — Google review
Wide selection on tap Something for all tastes. Very helpful staff. Great space inside and outside. Live music outside during summer months.
Larry H — Google review
The bier garten is a delightful summer hangout spot with plenty of shaded seating and a large bar area. The bartenders were friendly and helpful in recommending a beverage for the afternoon. I'm looking forward to checking out one of the many events they host in the future.

With two bars available, patrons can enjoy a wide selection of beer, wine, cocktails, and whiskey while watching a game or socializing with friends.
Cool spot with a good tap list and tasty food. The Pesto Cavatappi was fantastic. Good Korean fried chicken sandwich, smash burgers, and waffle fries, as well. We also discovered the little upstairs lounge on this visit!
Daniel ( — Google review
We stopped by The Free House and got an outside table for dinner on Friday night. We had a good smash burger and a cod plate. The food was very good and the outside seating was also very good. As with a lot of restaurants, they seemed short staffed, with the staff apologizing for the delays. All in all a great experience, we will definitely go back to try them again.
Jim B — Google review
Quaint pub-style restaurant with a large selection of outdoor seating options and a great variety of meal options to fit a variety of tastes and dietary needs. This restaurant is a perfect option for a group diverse group of friends- there are plenty of classic pub style classics alongside salads, pastas, sandwiches and plant-based protein choices. Our service was excellent and the food came out promptly. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I especially enjoyed my Teriyaki Chicken & Rice bowl. It offered a great variety of savory and sweet flavor profile. There is free street parking available.
Grace M — Google review
Service felt slow, compared to the low number of patrons. The seating space outside of the main bar was very loud and echoed a lot. Food took a while to get to the table, but it was good.
Tammy B — Google review
Great lunch experience with a client! The food came out quickly and was reasonably priced.
Todd — Google review
What the ?!?!?!?! 2 people, basic fish fry, over an hour to get the food AFTER ordering. Nope. It's not that good. No apologies from them either. There's five other good places a stones throw from here.... this was bad
Keri F — Google review
Keaton was a great bartender, bbq chicken sandwich special hit the spot, draft list was solid, good vibe even on a rainy Monday night. Glad I stopped in.
Kristofer R — Google review
We stumbled in here based on a previous review and we’re so glad we did. Fabulous ambiance and super chill vibe. The people working at the Free House are very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks. The mustard flight as a shareable was creative and very fun. Colleen was our server and she was absolutely phenomenal. We will go here again next time we visit family in Wisconsin!

The conservancy features moraines, restoration projects, crop fields, and miles of walking trails that provide ample opportunities for photography. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the prairie and savanna restoration areas while exploring the diverse landscapes.
One of the best places in the greater Madison area for a walk outside. Sunflowers in August are the most typical attraction, but it is a great year-round visit.
Trent P — Google review
The website said "no sunflowers in 2022". I guess it should say "we stopped sunflowers since 2022" Pretty view over corn fields. A self-guided booklet is available at the main entrance
Craig B — Google review
Very nice place to take a walk, run on grass trails at all times and there are picnic tables. Good place to do bird watching. Crops are rotated every year. This place is very popular when there are sunflower fields.
Karla E — Google review
Most of the reviews here will highlight Pope Farm Park's beautiful walking paths, or fields of sunflowers, or birdwatching, or any of the variety of other natural out-of-doors experiences that can be had here. I'll focus on the beautiful eastern horizon and potential unobstructed view you can get of the sun or moon rising above the city of Madison, WI. I've included just a few photos here taken with telephoto lenses of the sun and moon rising over the skyline, including the capitol dome. Note: it takes a lot of careful planning to obtain a shot like this. You won't just luck into these shots. Enjoy the views from Pope Farm Park!

Lakeview Park

Park
Fun & Games
Lakeview Park is a beautiful community park with many athletic fields, playgrounds, and a splash pad. It's great for families to enjoy sports and outdoor activities together.
Lakeview Park is great resource for Middleton! Right off Allen Blvd with lots of easy parking. In the warm months, the disc golf course is challenging but not too challenging…and a nice cool location with lots of trees! The city has redone the picnic shelter and play area. There’s plenty of room for a really big group to gather and eat…I think it could handle 100 people I bet. And having the play area directly adjacent makes it convenient for events with families with little kids. The walking paths are nice for strolling around the pond and fields. So many big fields! There tennis courts too. And purple fish in the pond! And a water spray park for the summer. This is a wonderful resource for middleton!
Aj S — Google review
This park is truly amazing! There is a nice little pond that people were fishing in, a nice park for the kids, and there was an indoor area that an event was being held. The park was very clean and there are plenty of spots to sit at picnic tables. Would highly recommend this park!
Kyle W — Google review
Had a great time djing w photobooth at Nancy n Johns reception. Great venue for medium to small weddings etc.
DJ R — Google review
Went for the disc golf and loved it! Quiet 9 hole course that was enjoyable and good for little kids. The first and ninth holes were closer to the parking lot, and two-eight were down a path adjacent to the water retention area. The course was free to play, and we will be back! There was also a playground that looked amazing, but we did not have time to play when we were there. Maybe next time!
Megan B — Google review
What a nice, beautiful, big, open public park with nice paths and scenery! There's a clearwater pond in the middle with seaweed and an abundance of fish! There are docks spread throughout the pond that you can walk out onto. There are native plants growing around the pond and in the park, in general! It looked like they were working on a native plant restoration project, which is great! I ran into an unexpected war memorial, at the park, which was really well constructed. There were signs next to trees educating people on the types of trees they are. I thought that was really cool. :D It's a nice park to have a picnic at. There were people hanging out on the grass, people walking their dogs, and children playing at the playground. It was a very inviting place.
Reannah J — Google review
Kids and I go here all of the time. And amazing park within walking distance or our home, we are truly lucky to live next to this park.
Andrew S — Google review
Solid lil spot! Pretty busy all the time when its nice out. Very cool splash pad and playground. Easy access and approachable for panfishing with the kids.
Richard I — Google review
Came for the disc golfing. A bit tricky to find if you've never been, as I did not find any signs for it anywhere. But once found, I enjoyed every moment. The holes are a bit close together, but over all a peaceful 9 hole course

Beautiful grounds. Comfy furniture, spacious rooms. There are also a lot of areas outside to sit and meditate and gaze at the beautiful scenery, but the most wonderful thing is the food. The chef is phenomenal at preparing and presenting the meals. The food is delicious.
C C — Google review
I came here for a break from work and school. By the end of the retreat, I felt at peace with life. Volunteering on the prairie was great. Hiking everyday was amazing. The staff was awesome. Not one bad experience!
Kevin P — Google review
We really enjoyed having our wedding ceremony at Holy Wisdom Monastery! Leading up to the wedding, Brooke was very helpful with answering any questions we had and was great at setting up times where we could come see the monastery and envision the decorations for the ceremony. Brooke was wonderful with helping/leading during the rehearsal and made sure everything went smoothly the day of. We’d highly recommend Holy Wisdom as a ceremony site! This is also where we had our pictures taken in the outdoor photos. It was beautiful even at the end of November.
Kathleen C — Google review
Terrible place for a musical event. Neither the stage (as there is none) is raised nor (as an alternative) are the seats tiered. Therefore if you see an orchestral chamber music event here, you're not going to be able to see the musicians. Plus the room is too bright during the performance, and the walls are all solid drywall which affects the acoustics. The lack of visibility should keep anybody from buying tickets here. They should strongly consider procuring an interlocking stage that could be assembled and then disassembled for this otherwise versatile space. Last but not least, there is no light along the sidewalk to the lower parking lot, which is a considerable fall risk.
Cheryl C — Google review
I came to the monastery for a personal retreat to unplug, reset and restore. I was looking for a few days of slow, relaxed meditative activities. I sure found them! Hours spent strolling the paths through gorgeous native prairie, oak savanna and woodlands. cozy, clean, simple room for rejuvenating sleep. tasty meals and extremely kind, accommodating staff. The whole experience felt very caring. Can't wait to return to see the autumn landscape!
Sarah M — Google review
I’ve been to Holy Wisdom for a retreat, prairie work, bringing students to learn about environmental spirituality, a fall colors tour, and more. Their “community of communities” achieves a truly remarkable fusion: hospitality, hiking trails and land stewardship, justice, a spirituality that is inclusive and nourishing. Because of all these dimensions, a wide variety of people can enjoy HWM for a wide variety of reasons. My personal retreat couldn’t have been better: three days to walk the prairie, read in my hermitage, and enjoy delicious meals with the sisters. Holy Wisdom is a hidden gem that I recommend to everyone I know.

Middleton Hills South Park

Park
Middleton Hills Park offers a delightful and enjoyable experience. It features a compact soccer field, alongside a scenic boardwalk that leads to an adjacent plaza, perfect for observing birds. The pathways within the park are constructed from wood, providing a sense of being immersed in nature while still being close to the city. Moreover, there is a charming playground available with basketball and volleyball courts for recreational activities. This small but lovely park is conveniently located right in town, making it easily accessible to residents and visitors alike.
So beautiful! Feels like you're completely out of the city walking on the wooden pathways through the nature reserve.
Solveig H — Google review
Always a nice little stroll. Small field for soccer and a boardwalk to the adjacent plaza is pleasant for bird watching and ends at a small playground with basketball and volleyball courts.
Peter G — Google review
Fantastic neighborhood park! Small playground area, soccer field, and basketball court at the main entrance to the park. No parking lot, parking is limited along street at main entrance of park. Parking available street-side along other sides of park. Boardwalk takes you through about a third of the marsh area. The rest of the loop runs through the residential area. The trail stops, but the sidewalk continues all the way around the park.

Great park. Usually not very busy. It has a basketball court and and a volleyball pit, although no net is up. Two structures and a gazebo with picnic tables. There is a water fountain and some grass and shade.

Super convenient. Multiple playgrounds that are age appropriate. It would get 5 stars but there is no bathroom.

Johnny's Italian Steakhouse

Steak house
At Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, patrons can enjoy a sophisticated dining experience in an elegant setting reminiscent of a supper club. This upscale establishment offers a delectable menu featuring steaks, pasta, and cocktails. The attentive and efficient service ensures that guests have an enjoyable time. The restaurant's ambiance is enhanced by the display of memorabilia from iconic figures such as Frank Sinatra and The Rat Pack, creating a relaxed yet refined atmosphere.
We had a wonderful night out for my mother's 70th birthday. The location was easy to access with a free parking lot. The hostess was friendly and brought us too our table. The server was not only friendly and attentive but stayed on top of all of our drink refills and knew the menu inside and out. We ordered steak risotto mushrooms scallops, lobster, mac and cheese and salads. Absolutely, everything looks delicious. The manager came to the table and spoke with my nephew and my mother telling us about how their foods are made and hoping that my mother had a wonderful evening. He made himself available if we had any needs. He even took a photo for us. They also provided a delicious piece of cake for my mother's birthday. The kids finished off with some ice cream and we had some great coffee. If you're looking for a nice dinner and a beautiful environment, I would highly recommend this location.

Best steak I’ve ever had! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, always smiling. The service was fast and professional. Steaks were cooked to perfection—real quality meat. Great music and cozy atmosphere made the whole experience even better!

I am not a steak eater but my friend said his steak was one of the best he ever had. I am not a steak eater myself and choose the channel #5 meal. The sauce was to die for but it was not the best pasta dish of my life. Was it good? Yes very. Next time I will try something else. House salad was excellent.

Great meal. I had the beef Wellington. I wish it was left uncut and had the chance to cut it myself. But overall very good. The artichoke dip was fantastic. Good Moscow mule. I would come back here.

so im going to give an honest review. i dined in here tn. Sunday, Aug 31st 2025 at like 7:45PM. sure there were major issues with the side dish… but the entree did make up for that significant problem. the steak trio omfg, delicious and made perfectly. the server suggested this and omg it was so good. im from canada and exploring all the restaurants here…i paid way more money at en vino for a lower quality steak meal. this was the best steak ive had since moving here. toppings were amazing. with that being said. the ambience needs work. the interior needs new everything. tables have scratches and holes. menus have scratches, markings, and look ancient. cuterly seems old, lots of markings. if ya’ll renovated and updated, this would have potential to be top notch for middleton for sure.
Sunera R — Google review
We arrived there late afternoon for a dinner before the night guests arrived. When we were asked where we wanted to sit it was suggest at the bar. We wanted a nice dinner not drinks. We inquired about their nicest table since we were the only guests. We were put at a table that was nothing short of a runway. The staff paraded by our table nonstop. This was the most uncomfortable dining experience we have ever had. The food was some of the worst we have ever had. We up charged our meal and ordered the spinach salad. What a mistake , it was nothing like any salad we've had. Instead of bacon it was like pieces of jerky, the dressing wasn't hot bacon dressing at all. My steak was over salted ,tough, and smothered in crusty spices. My husbands dish with scallops had very few with a saucy overkill to it. This definitely wasn't a $100 meal. Only plus for it was location to our motel so we could walk to it.

Craftsman Table & Tap

$$$$affordable
American restaurant
Craftsman Table & Tap, located on Frank Lloyd Wright Avenue in Middleton, is a popular American eatery known for its craft beers and cocktails. The high-ceilinged establishment offers a polished ambiance with a patio for outdoor dining. The menu features artisan sandwiches like the Russian Reuben and signature entrees such as the New York strip with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes. Additionally, patrons can choose from a wide selection of craft taps to accompany their meal.
I wanted to try this restaurant after my fiancé & his cousin went during restaurant week. His rave review & leftovers led me to get there! My pal & I went there on a Tuesday at 330p for an early dinner. I was undecided what to try & wanted to try the Mac n Cheese and I had a nice salad. My pal had a Rueben sandwich which she loved. We had cheese curds appetizer & creme brulee for dessert - both were excellent. We also had Old Fashioned cocktails which the server took additional time to explain some options to us. And from 3-530p weekdays is Happy Hour with Old Fashioneds at $5! The interior is classy, the servers are attentive, personable & speedy and the location is convenient with plenty of off street parking available. **highly recommend **

We had such a great experience at Craftsman Table & Tap! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed. It’s the kind of place that manages to feel both modern and cozy at the same time, perfect for dinner with friends or just a casual night out. The food was fantastic—everything came out fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The menu has a great balance of comfort favorites and creative twists, and the drinks list is equally impressive. Service was spot-on too: friendly, attentive, and never rushed. All around, it felt like one of those spots you’re happy to discover and can’t wait to return to.

Good experience. Server was helpful with both drink and food suggestions. Both were good choices. Had the peach mango cider, pleasant , could taste the fruit. Not over powering. Had the caprees resoto. Good flavors, nice pesto touch. My son had the fish wall eye fish, decent flavor, lilely breaded and fried. My wife had a burger
Dell O — Google review
We've eaten brunch and dinner at Craftsman over the past few weeks and both have been excellent. The food is fresh and somewhat unique, the portions are filling, and the drinks have been tasty--I especially love their espresso old fashioned at brunch, and their chocolate mousse is life altering. The staff has been fine but nothing exceptional. We will return!
Jennifer K — Google review
If you’re looking for a place with a great atmosphere, this spot delivers. There’s a nice bar with plenty of seating, a spacious dining room, and a comfortable outdoor area to enjoy when the weather’s nice. The beer selection is impressive, and the cocktail menu has some solid options. As for the food—it’s just okay. Not bad, but nothing that really stood out. Come for the drinks and the vibe more than the food.
Ryan W — Google review
We ordered the BBQ hamburger and added bacon and waffle fries, as well as the Caprese risotto with salmon. The burger itself was underwhelming—very little flavor and definitely not worth the $17 price tag. The bacon was the best part, adding some much-needed taste, but overall it fell flat. The Caprese risotto was just okay, and at $18 it felt overpriced for what you get. The salmon ($6 up charge - which felt worth it), however, was the highlight of the meal—perfectly cooked as requested and tasted great.
Jamie H — Google review
I was surprised how nice this restaurant was. The food was wonderful. I had the walleye that was cooked to perfection. For Oktoberfest, they had a pretzel special that was also very good.
Jay S — Google review
I have been a customer of Craftsman for years, but we hosted our first event with them yesterday in their upstairs event space. Everything from start to finish was exceptional. Josie was the event coordinator who we worked with and she was communicative, efficient, and flexible. The planning process went incredibly smoothly thanks to Josie! The event itself was also well-executed, thanks to Jake and the event team. He went above and beyond ensuring all guests were comfortable and happy. The food was amazing and the prices were reasonable, with many diverse options for people with specific needs or dietary restrictions! The potatoes, salmon, and asparagus were especially delicious. We will definitely utilize them again in the future and would recommend for business events or really any gathering!

Louisianne's Etc.

Mentioned on
1 list
$$$$expensive
Creole restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Middleton, Louisiannes Etc. is a charming downstairs restaurant that transports diners straight to New Orleans with its authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. This intimate eatery features stunning stone walls and offers live jazz and blues music from Tuesday to Saturday, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for a romantic evening or a cozy gathering with friends. For over thirty years, Louisiannes Etc.
Wonderful experience!, Gwen remembered us from our last dinner there! Sat us at the same table,as she recalled! I had jambalaya and Judi had the duck. Prior to that we enjoyed escargot, which was awesome. I finished with key lime pie, Judi was able to pry four pieces of the same to offer to her family.
Michael W — Google review
Great vibe and service. We had the pork tenderloin and jambalaya. Both were good. Not the best jambalaya I’ve had, but the portion was a lot more generous than I expected. The dark chocolate crème brûlée was a must have too!
Tammy T — Google review
Walking into Louisiana Etc. felt like stepping straight into a Tom Waits song soulful, and dripping with character. The atmosphere is rich with mood: dim lighting, rustic details, and a hum that makes you feel like the night could go on forever. It’s the kind of place where you settle in and lose track of time. What really sets it apart, though, is the service. Every staff member we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They struck that perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness—making sure we had what we needed without ever hovering. Altogether, it’s not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. If you’re looking for a spot that makes you feel transported somewhere between New Orleans grit and back-alley poetry;this is it.
Lucas — Google review
The menu sounds intriguing. My issue was that it's like the food and plating (as you can tell by the pictures) is from the 1980's and has never been updated to today's standards. There was an overall lack of seasoning and spices on every dish. I went in expecting soul food but instead got bland dishes filled with dried parsley or cheese garnishes on the plate. Soul food means flavor - it doesn't have to be hot spicy. I got the feeling they cater to older people who want large portions and don't care much about taste.
Shannon C — Google review
Great spot close to where we live. We’ve lived by this place for years, but this was our first time dining there. Nice vibe and atmosphere. Can be a little hard to hear though if there’s a loud group. Food was all excellent — prepared and seasoned well. We had the combination platter for starters and we enjoyed each item. I had the special pasta dish with shrimp and crawfish. Really good. My wife had the catch of the day and loved it. Great service and an overall great value. We’ll be back.
Matt L — Google review
It is difficult for me to write this review. Our server, Jamie, was incredibly wonderful. Most of the food was fabulous. The ambiance and Saturday night jazz piano were sublime. But, in all fairness, the problems we experienced were too egregious to ignore. This venue is NOT friendly to those with disabilities. The entry stairs are steep, and many, with no visible alternate ramp or elevator. We arrived just after opening. Our seating area was nearly empty. I immediately advised the server I could not eat hot, spicy foods and was assured they would adjust my preferred dish so that the Cajun spices were not added. We also ordered the appetizer sampler platter. The platter took an inordinately long time to arrive, but was DELICIOUS! Our soups/salads were also top-notch. Then, we waited for our entrées ... and waited ... and waited. We became increasingly impatient, especially because most patrons who arrived after us were already eating their meals. Our server did come round to apologize for the delay, but there was no offer of a complimentary drink, dessert, or discount. Finally, over an hour after we placed our order, the entrees arrived ... with an apology because Cajun seasonings had been sprinkled all over the top of my roasted shrimp! Now, I could not eat my dinner. They offered a new entrée, but I didn't want to chance waiting another hour. Instead, I ordered a simple appetizer. They removed the charge for my entrée ... but added a charge for the appetizer, which I truly felt should have been complimentary considering all the problems. To top it off, it took approx 20 minutes or so for the appetizer to arrive. By then, my companions were finished with their meals. Thus, while our server did an outstanding job, because of (un)timeliness and (in)accuracy, I give service a low rating. And while most of the food was amazing, I gave it a low rating for the same reasons. Not really what I was hoping for during my first visit. Pictured: crab puffs, roasted shrimp, and appetizer sampler for 4
Bethanie G — Google review
The restaurant has gone down hill since the last time we were here. Service was slow. Soup was cold. Escargot tasted dirty. Dinner portions ok sized. Way too loud with the piano player in bar area.
Steps — Google review
The atmosphere and ambiance were cozy and inviting. The vaulted ceilings and live jazz piano were just right for the sound. Food was amazing. Crab cakes melted in your mouth. The Shrimp and Crawfish Diablo special was just the right amount of heat and the salmon with the REAL butter flaked perfectly. The real butter had a hint of lemon and possibly garlic? The deserts were this pecan chocolate cake that was like a fudge brownie and so decadent. But the chocolate creme brulé was divine. Fresh whipped cream for both. We will definitely be back and won't wait for our anniversary next time!

The menu features farm-to-table dishes such as salads, sandwiches, burgers, and specials like fish fry.

Sofra Family Bistro

Eastern European restaurant
Sofra Family Bistro is a casual eatery in Middleton that specializes in creative Mediterranean, Balkan, and Albanian cuisine. Previously known as Bavaria Family Restaurant for over two decades, it underwent a transformation with a new concept and an Albanian-inspired menu. Despite the change, this family-owned establishment has maintained its commitment to quality food and service throughout its 31 years of operation.
This breakfast restaurant is one of the better options in the Madison area. They are sparing with oil so you wont feel heavy leaving, the coffee is good, and fresh fruit available. They have hash browns or a lightly roasted potato. Nice and quiet early morning. It’s a great place to stop with a quick kitchen and the restaurant is very clean.
Douglas G — Google review
Great gem in this fun neighborhood. Fantastic Albanian fare with many other options in the extensive menu. We couldn’t get enough of the homemade Albanian sausage. The hash browns with cheese and onion were stellar. Service is prompt and helpful. This is a simple easy going place. Other tables were all enjoying a peaceful calm day and moment to eat great food. The crepes were incredible, better than ones I have had in Paris. Tender, just right in sweetness and not gummy. Now let’s talk about the coffee! They have their own blend and it’s fantastic, real coffee with flavor and depth. We had 2 cups each. They also sell the beans. Great place for brunch. Will look forward to go and have dinner.
Barbara G — Google review
We stopped for our first visit around 11:30 am Sunday. I had Tuscan chicken sandwich and chicken tortilla soup (see pic) both are great! My guy had southwest chicken skillet and he liked it! Very busy, our wait for table was longer than wait for food.
Jennifer B — Google review
Sofra is the real deal when it comes to authentic Turkish cuisine. From the moment you walk in, you’re transported—warm hospitality, cozy ambiance, and food that feels like a love letter from Istanbul. Highly recommend the Turkish coffee—rich, bold, and beautifully presented. And if you’re there for breakfast, don’t miss the Albanian sausage and eggs—perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. It’s one of those dishes you think about days later.
Benjamin B — Google review
The atmosphere is beautiful, cozy, and classy. The food is unique and service was excellent. This is truly a family business and the family was very attentive and eager to please.
Brenda D — Google review
I've eaten here many times and have only ever had great experiences. The food is great, servers are friendly, and while I may be biased, it's located in a very cute area in Middleton. My go-to place for breakfast. Can certainly get a bit crowded at certain peak breakfast rushes, but worth the wait and very nice if you can dodge the crowds.
Abigail S — Google review
Good quick stop for brunch food. Gyro was a bit dry. Fries were good.
Beth D — Google review
We had very tasty gyros for lunch. The owner, Zamira, was very friendly and her friend even left us with some complimentary caramel apples. They also have beautiful arrangements outside that make lunch feel like it is in Europe. Best spot in Middleton.

Villa Dolce

Italian restaurant
Villa Dolce is a charming eatery located in downtown Middleton, offering a delightful selection of Italian dishes such as flavorful pastas and thin-crust pizzas. Nestled in the historic Weinberg-Schroeder building, this cozy restaurant has been serving patrons for 16 years. One of its highlights is the house-made gelato, with a rotating menu featuring a dozen smooth flavors out of a total of 46 options made on site.
We had an amazing experience at Villa Dolce! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We ordered the arancini, the prosciutto and arugula pizza, the butternut squash Tortellini, and finished off with some delicious gelato. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. It’s clear they use high-quality, fresh ingredients. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
Ximena A — Google review
Such a nice place. Slightly expensive, but very worth it. The food was delicious, I had a pizza, and tried some of their pasta. And their gelato was perfect. Every dessert came with a chocolate covered strawberry, which was so good. You can't go wrong with whatever you order
Macy M — Google review
Tried this restaurant for the first time and can’t believe I waited so long! The mocktail list is great and includes more than simple sugary drinks. The food was excellent. I appreciated that the dishes were familiarly fine-Italian but leveled up! It’s always nice to find dishes that are not ones I could recreate at home. So good! And the ambiance is perfect. I find stuffy restaurants feel awkward. I felt at home and very comfortable here. Will definitely be back!
Liz M — Google review
I had the wild mushroom pizza. The presentation was phenomenal. The only issue was I could not taste the truffle oil.
Donald R — Google review
Their gelato was fantastic, and calzone I ordered was the best I've ever had. Their food is good the service was great but their prices certainly reflected that. All in all, I'm definitely going back!

We had a great dining experience in Villa Dolce! Delicious meals, excellent service, nice outside seating on a warm summer evening with an amazing pistachio gelato for dessert. We will definitely be back soon! 🇮🇹
Yekaterina P — Google review
Such a special place, and one of our all time favorite restaurants! Each person in our family orders the same dish every time we visit, as they are each too good to try something new. Always a friendly welcome when we come in, and a tasty drink as well. I would recommend reservations, as it is a popular place!
Nicole G — Google review
One of my favorite Italian places in Madison so far! It’s on the fancy side but isn’t too expensive, so it’s perfect for a date night or nice dinner out. My friend & I got the Arancini and Margherita pizza to share, and it was enough for two. Highly recommend the Margherita pizza, tasted very fresh and the crust was light & airy. Ended the night with some Pink Grapefruit gelato (perfect amount of tang & sweet and a great way to follow up a heavier meal). Overall, great food, lovely atmosphere, and pretty good service! Can’t wait to come back!

Vin Santo

Temporarily Closed
Italian restaurant
Restaurant
Vin Santo is a charming, family-owned Italian restaurant that offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for enjoying hearty meals and fine wines. Known for its generous portions, the eatery puts a unique spin on classic dishes, like their calamari served in a spicy tomato sauce and spaghetti with fresh mozzarella. Diners rave about the creamy bread pudding infused with cinnamon and grappa—an absolute must-try!
An awesome, old school, simple, and cozy little Italian restaurant. Located in downtown Middleton Vin Santo might be the best place for Italian food in the Madison area. Staff is very attentive, friendly, and personable. Vin Santo ravioli was superb. My girlfriend went with the Campenelli with goat cheese, and tomato basil sauce. She said it was very tastey and fresh. For dessert try the bread pudding a staple they are known for. If you are looking for great Italian food stop in and check out Vin Santo. You will leave very full and satisfied.
Nathan J — Google review
Excellent local Italian restaurant. Small romantic location. One of the best Italian places in town. Excellent Caesar Salad, Baked Lasagna with Spicy Sausage, and Tiramisu.
Patrick J — Google review
Had dinner with two others. Service was good and attentive. Calamari appetizer was different (not breaded, and served in a slightly spicy tomato sauce). Entree's were generous, pasta cooked perfectly and ingredients fresh and continued the theme of a slight twist on old favorites (my spaghetti and sausage had fresh mozzarella added). House wine was very nice. Desert, a chocolate cheese cake variant, was very tasty and the portion was generous enough for three to share. I think this is one of the better Italian restaurants in the Madison area, and it compares well to the ones I have visited in Milwaukee. However, I do think it is a little on the pricey side for some menu items, and you should know that (at least from what I have tried) they do add a bit of a culinary twist on some of the standard Italian items (which I personally like, but may surprise those with a view based mostly on chain Italian). I have eaten here many times and never been dissatisfied. And while all meals have been good, I have had some that were truly excellent (a wild boar and pasta preparation). I recommend it to friend's, and the ambiance, makes it a nice setting for an imitate meal, particularity during the week when its quieter. Would give it 4.5 if that were an option.
Carl K — Google review
Love this restaurant - cozy atmosphere and delicious, fresh pasta and sauces. The lasagna is definitely worth the wait (around half an hour). If you manage to save some room, I highly recommend the bread pudding.
Alex S — Google review
Really good Italian in a spot you may miss if you aren't looking for it. Smaller wine list than some Italian restaurants but the choices didn't disappoint. Very busy on Saturday night when we came in but staff was attentive and got us a table close to our reservation time. Wife ordered the ravioli special which was excellent.
Michael G — Google review
This place is wonderful! All of our meals turned out amazing, and the bruchetta was great. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and never let a glass get empty. The owner (I think) even heard a spoon fall of the table and had the waitress bring another set. And the bread pudding is to die for! Will definitely be coming back.
Alex F — Google review
We enjoyed an excellent wife's birthday celebration centered on the special ravioii and special lasagna for the evening, following calamari and mixed-green salad starters, and concluding with the tiramisu and near-famous Vin Santo bread pudding for dessert. As always, the food was well prepared, the service was prompt and cordial, and the atmosphere was very comfortable.
W. K — Google review
Enjoyed our anniversary dining at this cozy restaurant. With all the Italian restaurants in the Madison area, Vin Santo really is a wonderful spot. We've each have had the opportunity to dine here and we haven't been disappointed one bit. Service was attentive but not swarming. We shared a salad prior to our meal and each enjoyed a glass of wine. Salad was crispy, and the dressing didn't overwhelm. They did run out of their specialty, but their menu doesn't disappoint. We had a wonderful dining experience and will come back again.

Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano

Italian restaurant
Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano is a popular Italian restaurant in Madison that offers delicious food at an affordable price. The restaurant has a wide variety of dishes, including pasta, pizza, seafood, steaks and desserts. The wine list is extensive and the bar features specialty cocktails. All aspects of the restaurant are casual and relaxed, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends.
Besides a small issue with our order missing an item, the overall experience and food was very good. Our waitress and the manager made things right and we appreciate that. The food highlights: The Rigatoni Bolognese and the Chicken & Wild Rice Soup were delicious. We ordered the lunch Half & Half but still got great serving sizes! The Spaghetti & Meatballs was great as expected. I really enjoyed the Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer. The Italian sausage stuffing was so tasty. We came for lunch and we will be back!
Tom ( — Google review
Came in at 7:45 to find out that they would be closing at 8, which was how I was greeted. Sat at the bar. Felt very rushed and a bit of an inconvenience. Bartender interacted with me a bit, but wasn’t really engaging and more interested in closing things up. The bartender and what appeared to maybe be the manager were opening discussing other employees and I was able to hear the whole interaction and this happened twice. Food came out good and it was delicious, but made me a bit nervous that the kitchen staff might be a bit miffed with a close to closing time order. In my mind, I have never in all my travels had restaurants that close at 8pm. In my head I made the assumption that most likely it would be open until 9 or 10, like most restaurants and bars I go to, that’s on me to make the assumption. Staff, in general, didn’t give the “happy to see you” or “enjoying my job” vibe at all. I went to the sister restaurant the night before, and they were the polar opposite.
Patrick S — Google review
The perfect experience to take the edge off a rough week or three - big foodie here. This became my new favorite restaurant tonight. Amazing food, attentive service and cozy atmosphere. Noise level is a concern for me when trying new places, but the volume was nice here. The room was alive with conversation but I could easily hear my friend sitting next to me.

I came in a few weeks ago with my grandchildren for a nice dinner and my experience was amazinng! I was first greeted w an amazing hostess, i remember her becuase of her hijab and her big smile. She was very nice, loved her greeting, and she got me to my table right away! When we were seated we were given bread and I absolutley loved it! It was so crispy but still soft. The food was amazing and very high quailiry, I got the alfredo!
Ilya Y — Google review
This place was suggested to me by someone who raved highly about the food, so I did come with expectations high. The food was ok but not what I expected. The mushrooms are stuffed with sausage and cheese but its very little if any sausage. I will say the salmon was cooked perfectly and so was the shrimp but fell short on taste. I did love the service, waiter was very attentive and atmosphere was cozy. I would go back and try something else on the menu because I like the environment.

Excellent food and great service first time here and what taste really nice Italian cuisine with awesome taste

If you love Italian food, this is the place. They serve the BEST bread, and they have oil, parm, salt, and pepper at the table! A delish lunch menu and an incredible dinner menu! Tried it on a whim, and now it's my preferred spot. Even the salads taste amazing! Plus, they have Pepsi products, which is my favorite. Reasonable prices, around the same as OG but the quality is way better.

Multiple great lunches with mom. The food was really great. We tend to order too much but take some home. Excellent and attentive service. Lasagna, short rib ravioli, chicken marsala were super! I love the fresh bread with dipping oil. Tiramisu, chocolate cake all good. Another great visit with mom- chicken Marsala, lasagna, beet arugula salad, berry crostini and tiramisu. Thank you

The atmosphere is described as lovely, with beautiful lighting and art. I haven't been here in a very long time and I'm really glad that I tried it again tonight. Extremely good cooking and not greasy at all. About the only improvement I would suggest would be for better plates. Other than that, excellent! My girlfriend has asked me why we have not come here sooner because she loves Chinese and warns me that we will be going back again often.

Excellent food, generous portions, and very attentive and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere and an amazing value. We really enjoyed our meal: two hot and sour soups, moo shu chicken, and beef and broccoli. It looked so delicious I couldn't wait to eat it and forgot to take pictures! We will return!

Good food, good service. Eat here with Father often when I come to Middleton. Plenty of parking and friendly staff. I had shrimp with lobster sauce and he had sizzling shrimp rice. Egg rolls were good too. The servings were ample, I was full when we left. Recommend!

Absolutely fantastic! The building is positively gorgeous and we had a fabulous meal! I highly recommend the spicy lamb meat! The service was wonderful and they've been around for a long time; since the early 80s! Definitely will be back!

Our family of four had dinner here last weekend and it was great! We found the food to be great quality and value, and our server was wonderful. I hadn't been here for over 20 years and while the building has aged, the level of service felt similar. Certainly recommend!

Nice Chinese restaurant. Better than usual, featuring white linen tablecloths, multiple forks and spoons, china teapot and cups. It seemed the whole staff were of Asian decent. Our waitress explained the lunch menu came with an egg roll. Plenty of rice, cooked perfectly, came with my cashew chicken. We even got a fortune cookie!

Almost everything here is made fresh in house. The flavors are much better than what is more commonly found in the commercial type Asian restaurants. The hot and sour soup is fantastic with a wonderful balance of flavors and spices. If you haven’t tried this or it’s been a while give it a go.

Monk's Bar & Grill

American restaurant
Nestled conveniently next to Costco and just off University Ave, Monk's Bar & Grill has been a beloved spot in Middleton since 2011. This contemporary sports bar is the perfect blend of casual dining and vibrant atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for both families and professionals looking to unwind after a long day. With a diverse menu featuring mouthwatering burgers, Wisconsin cheese curds, and unique options like The Beyond Burger and Sweet Chili Cauliflower Bites, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
We stopped by Monk’s on a Monday night just to grab a local beer and a little something to snack on — and ended up staying for 2 hours! We ordered the cheese curds with marinara sauce, the deluxe nachos, and a couple of beers. Everything was absolutely delicious — like, crazy good. We couldn’t decide on which beer to get at first, so they brought us a flight of 3 local favorites to sample — for free! That was such a nice touch. The staff was super friendly and helpful, giving great recommendations from the menu. It wasn’t too crowded since it was a Monday, with most people hanging out at the bar. There were TVs playing sports, and the vibe was casual, fun, and bright — really cool decor too. Our total bill (with tip) came to just $53 for two people, which felt like a steal for the quality and experience. Definitely recommend this place!

Family friendly experience with many kids selections among numerous adult meals. We enjoyed prompt service followed by immediate serving of drinks. Wait staff was very responsive on a busy Sun night with a Packers game going on. Many TVs to enjoy the football games. Will return and recommend.

We had such great service here. There is a lot of food to choose from. We ordered the veggie pizza, chicken pesto mac and a kids burger. At first bite it was pretty good but after that it quickly became food I wished I didn't have to eat. I'm sure others would like it but it just wasn't for me. The cheese is very thick and the toppings were underwhelming. The chicken pesto was very rich. I think it would be better as a small side but as an entire meal it was just too heavy. My kid loved the burger. The side salad is just lettuce and cheese. They have really good balsamic dressing. The atmosphere reminds me of an Applebee's. I should have ordered a burger.

Always a good meal. Great spot for a casual dinner with friends and family. Looks like their trivia night is a bunch of fun.

Great cheese curds! We went there after a tiring shopping spree, food was great we ordered the brisket hamburger and the Caesar salad. The service was amazing the hostess was kind and Diana our service was very attentive (the food was also very quick but we came at a slow hour)

Went for opening Badgers game and had a great time. Perfect location off the main roads so it was busybut not absurdly busy. Our server was awesome and the food was fantastic too. Great place for a Badger event.

Great bar! The food is really tasty and the service is totally committed in making you have a great experience. The briskets burger is unbelievable!!!

Ate here around 1:00pm on a Sunday with wife and kids. We loved everything we tried except the pop, tasted too carbonated almost like an old school Italian soda. Surely the CO2 tank needed swapped out. Otherwise 10/10, will be visiting again. Very much appreciated how spacious the booth we sat at was.

Airport
Nestled in the heart of Rockford, the Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) offers a delightful travel experience that combines convenience with comfort. This airport is not only easy to navigate but also boasts modern amenities, including recently remodeled restrooms and quality dining options. While it may have fewer flight routes compared to larger airports, RFD is continuously expanding its offerings, making it an increasingly attractive option for travelers.
Easy to get in and out. Allegiant Airlines. Small airlines. Friendly service and good parking area well lighted. Super easy and not stressful to get to your terminal. Got to love that. It is also very clean and the restroom is also clean. 😊I will be using this airport again.
Noty K — Google review
The check in agent for Allegiant was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. He laughed about how he was about to "ruin my day" when he told me my dog carrier would not be allowed on the flight due to size. I asked for a supervisor and she was just as rude. I asked for her supervisor and I was lied to and told she was the top person. I persisted and finally spoke to James who would not provide a last name and made up some nonsense about the FAA not allowing collapsable (soft sided) carriers. The carrier fit fine as it was collapsable. My dog flew the route several times before in the same carrier, and we were forced to spend money on an Uber to Ohare then one way flights on United. They had ZERO sympathy for a mother stranded at the airport with her 3 children and suggested I send my dog home with my disabled parents in order to board the flight.

Love the airport, but the Avis employee was horrible. I am an Avis Preferred member and have rented from Avis many times, but my recent experience at the Rockford International Airport location was unacceptable. I had reserved a rental car in my own name using my own credit card. Upon arrival, I was denied my rental because my husband’s name is also printed on the card, and he was not physically present. This policy made no sense in my situation — I was traveling for work, my husband was in Florida (where we reside), and the credit card account is mine. The representative (elderly man) showed no flexibility or willingness to work toward a solution, despite all of my identification matching the reservation and payment method. As a frequent traveler, I have never encountered such a rigid and impractical policy from a rental car company. This incident left me stranded and forced me to make last-minute arrangements at additional expense. After years of loyalty, this experience has made it clear that my business is no longer valued. I will be moving all of my future rentals to another company that values flexibility, common sense, and customer service — even if it means flying into a different airport just to avoid this location and the employee who caused this issue.

The airport itself is wonderful. It's small, easy, and convenient. Security and other be airport staff are lovely however, the female senior citizen bartender is an absolute nightmare. She's flat out rude to any and everyone for no reason at all. I've been on 9 flights this year, 4 of them out of Rockford. She's the worst. I also encountered her last year, nothing has changed.

Friendly staff. No separate TSAPRE entry line today though. Only 10 minutes in the regular line. New AA luxury motorcoach service to O'Hare is perfect. Starlink WiFi and cell phone usage allowed on the bus.

Took a quick trip to Nashville. Easy to get through checking in and security. Got a sandwich to go (handmade and delicious). I didnt use parking so I am unsure about it.

Catalina was so kind and powered through a line of impatient rude people to check us in and get us to our flight fast with no help from other employees. she needs a raise for dealing with the rude people who obviously saw she was by herself.

Huge complaint regarding the restaurant bar area employee, I did not get her name but she was an older lady serving the bar area. I put my computer on the table in view and went to get my coffee, she asked who's computer it was and I said it was mine, she said u can't leave a computer unattended, I did not and it was in clear view, she went on to bully me and he extremely rude threatening me to call security, gave me really dirty looks while I was in the store. I called the complaint office and reported her, she was super unprofessional. Update: I heard her name was Mary, I don't know why she has not been fired!

Dane County Regional Airport

Regional airport
Airport
Dane County Regional Airport, located just a 15-minute drive from downtown Madison, offers a pleasant travel experience. The airport features a rotating showcase of international art in its lobby and has received praise for its cleanliness and efficiency. With ample parking and intuitive signage, the airport provides convenience for travelers. Additionally, it offers comfortable waiting areas with leather lounge chairs and even a massage chair. Security is quick, with TSA pre-check available in the security line to the right.
Flew to MSN in April to visit daughter. She picked me up and dropped me off, so can’t attest to parking. However, pick up/ drop off easy and convenient. No trouble with quickly getting luggage. Printing ticket and checking bag easy. TSA quick- they only have a metal detector- so a bit old school. The terminal itself is very clean and relaxing. It is a single row with various gates. It has your typical pick me up item stores, bars, coffee and eateries for a regional airport of this size. The decor is fantastic, plenty of seating areas and connectivity/power, and even meeting rooms. Great job Dane County! Yes, it is a little more expensive to fly directly into Madison, but well worth the little cost increase. Only complaint: no luggage hook in bathroom stall. The rest of airport makes up for this though!

This is one of the most beautiful regional airports. It’s easy to navigate, with very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and also very efficient.

The world’s most kid & family friendly (intentionally designed) airport is in Madison! This is honestly one of the best airports I’ve ever been in look at the colorful family area. And I didn’t even have a layover but if I did, I would’ve been happy to spend a few hours here. Not because it’s huge or full of endless food options (it’s actually a smaller airport), but because it’s so beautifully and intentionally designed. I would fly into this airport any day. The first thing that stood out to me was the family-designated area. As a mom of three little ones, it was so refreshing to see a space made specifically for kids to play. I didn’t see any kids there when I came in, but just knowing it existed made me smile. Whoever designed this clearly thought about families I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve won an award for it. And the nursing room? Wow. It had a microwave, a refrigerator, a sink for washing your hands or bottles, and even a stall inside for privacy. If you’re pumping or breastfeeding, it’s the kind of space you wish every airport had. They also had a children’s restroom which most airports don’t. Usually, you’re all packed into the same restroom with everyone else, trying to hurry. But here, they actually had features that made it more accommodating for kids, like step stools so they can reach the sink and just an overall more kid-friendly setup. Some stalls even had built-in little seats for toddlers, including double seats for multiple kids, which is a lifesaver when you’re traveling solo with little ones. Of course, they also had changing tables and large stalls for wheelchairs, strollers, or just when you need extra space. On top of all that, they had a business center if you needed to work, everything was spotless, and the staff was incredibly helpful. The entire layout is on one level, which makes it super easy to navigate no hauling luggage up and down stairs or escalators. I was also traveling with my baby at the time, and it was so nice to move through the airport easily without stress. Getting in and out was quick and straightforward. I didn’t eat there because there were limited vegan options, but I’d imagine they have a few vegan-friendly options. Either way, I wasn’t there for the food I was there for the experience, and it was such a pleasant one. Highly, highly recommend this airport. I’d choose to fly through here over and over again. 🤎🙏🏾

The most nice and friendly airport! On the gates at 2nd floor there are family lounge, mother’s lounge, pet relief area, and meeting rooms with glass walls Within the regular women’s restroom there are rooms with two toddler’s seats.

Dane County Regional is one of my favorite airports, anywhere in the country. Great parking options just across the street from the terminal. Easy access to the TSA Precheck security points allows you to arrive at the airport 20-30 minutes prior to boarding. The terminal is clean and well maintained. Currently, large sections of the parking ramp are closed for maintenance, making for a slight inconvenience. The airport is served by all major carriers. A wonderful option when traveling into or out of southern Wisconsin 😊

Has really been improving in the last couple of years. It’s generally a pleasant experience and has a lot of very good food and drink options for a regional airport. Delta staff are always great at check in and the gates. There is one gentleman who is always extremely friendly and helpful wherever he’s posted and whether or not having to address delays and other issues.

Worst airport ever hear me out Yeah it’s small and technically easy to get around but as someone who flies monthly sometimes multiple times a month this airport just makes things unnecessarily difficult. No restaurants once you get past “no turn around point”. When departing, I thought that would be at least a few good options in the airport itself but there’s isn’t even a McDonald’s and barely anything is open at 6 AM except for like one random spot. Security is a joke they had me pull out my laptop, toiletries, food, etc (really is it still 2008?) and even an IPad? Who even does that anymore domestically? They also asked people unnecessary questions when checking IDs which I’ve never seen at big airports like Atlanta or even smaller ones in North Dakota. Then I got flagged for the button on my work pants (happens all the time to me) and had to get patted down and not the usual quick kind. They took extra steps and dragged it out. Something that normally takes two minutes turned into a multi/car inspection and dance. Gate check in and onboarding (Delta by the way) wasn’t much better. Just a horrible airport because of how inefficient it is.

Clean, kind staff members, such a relaxing vibe. A really welcome change from the big city airports I'm used to. (I'm looking at you LAX! 😩)
