Tropical fish will come and check you out if you snorkel over the coral. Be careful not to step on sea cucumber and look for Nemo !

This is one of the most beautiful places I have seen in my life. I wish I'd had more time here. The ocean is clear, and the island greenery is so lush. There are so many beautiful sights and hiking trails. It's almost unreal. The entire island is walkable if you're up for it. The hills are daunting, but the views from the top are stunning. I cannot recommend this island enough. It's an easy ferry ride away from Naha.

Hands down one of the best islands ive been to in awhile. The water is pristine with beautiful beaches and many outlooks giving you once in a lifetime views of the Kerama Islands. I would highly suggest renting a scooter or bike and explore the island. There are many trails to coves and wild beaches as well. However, given its a national park, swimming should be only done at the beaches. Out of the two main beaches, Ama beach gives you upfront and personal with Sea Turtles! They come around high tide and feed on greens on the seafloor. They come as close to 20 feed from shore. Please keep in mind to not touch nor bother them and keep a good distance for them to freely swim. Also do not tread water wildly around them and startle them.

THE most beautiful, clear and lovely beaches in the world are here! I visited AMA Beach and GAHI uninhabited island a 10 minute boat ride from Zamami port this July 2021 and was rewarded with glorious water but I must warn you no shade as both places are completely ( and luckily) totally undeveloped ! I think Zamami exists only for tourists, however with the Covid plague it offered few options for eating as many places were shut. I rented a bike for ¥3,000 for the day as bus services are sparse. A really wonderful day trip from Naha port and well worth it. I hope I can return between December and March when the humpback whales visit for breeding!

Great beach for snorkelling! Lots of fish near the shore and the water is so clear and refreshing! A 15-20 min walk from the pier that has one big uphill and downhill section but it is very easy to navigate to. There is also a public bus that takes you to the beach for a small fee that leaves near the pier.

This is the very famous beach in Zamami. Even tho it’s quite touristic, density is not very high during August. A lot of snorkeling gear u can rent there. We did a bit of snorkeling ourselves! The big coral reel is very nearby the coast. U just have to swim couple of mins to reach there. Water is extremely clear, a lot of fishes swimming under the water! Incredible experience!! :)

This might be the best beach I’ve ever been to in Japan — and definitely in Okinawa Prefecture! The water is crystal clear, like a natural aquarium filled with so many different species of fish. We truly enjoyed the entire day here. You can rent parasols and sunbeds at very reasonable prices, and there’s a lifeguard on duty, which is great for peace of mind. There’s also a small café where you can grab lunch, a drink, or rent snorkeling gear. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the port, or you can take a bus if you prefer. I totally recommend this spot — I’d definitely come back!

Beautiful beach and scenery as if out of a travelling catalogue. However, the swimming area is heavily restricted and the water was less than knee deep at the limit. Some people had snorkeling gear but the water was too flat to submerge at all, it was a pretty tragic sight. Like everywhere here, it's difficult to walk on the washed up corals and limestone ground without footwear. There is no place in the shade with view of the sea so definitely bring a parasol. Definitely only come here during high tide, research a table when planning your trip. There are some nice food places nearby.

Worst ferry experience I've done. They cancelled the fast boat we booked so we we're forced to take the slower one which leave's earlier. They also only repaid us half what they owed us because of the cancellation. It's sad because Zamami Island was stunning and I would go back anytime but service and price was horrible.

Super easy to navigate, English speaking staff they have lockers for 700 yen a day if you do not wish to travel with all of your stuff around the island. It's the center from both beaches.

Website with announcements and to check reservation availability is terrible and can only load half the time. It does not help that they cannot determine cancellations until the morning of the scheduled ferry. Refunds are at their mercy and supposedly can take two months to process. Poor service for relatively high prices.

We arrived arrived early and still missed our boat. Beware, the boat heading to Naha boards at different locations depending on what ship you have. Delicious food, they take card payment too. Closed on Wednesday. No reservation is needed, unlike some of the other restaurants in the village. Had the beef steak set, stir fry vegetables set, and braised pork belly. All were full in flavour. Would come here everyday to try out all their menu !

This place is only worth going to taste the Jimami tofu. IT WAS AMAZING. The tatami mats and oldschool Japanese vibe was albo nice. The staff however was 50/50. They ran out of rice so when I asked for a dish with rice, without rice (I wanted to order eel) lady was almost screaming at me.... The tuna I ordered instead was probably the worst tuna I ever ate, gross cut with lots of hard tissue. Rest of the dishes was OK, nothing spectacular.... So go there and order as many jimami tofu as you can and leave xD

Items are clearly marked with allergens. But when asked, they said they had no vegan or vegetarian options. But they were able to make a mixed veggies with tofu with salt and pepper. Not too bad and decently large portions! Tofu, cabbage, carrot, bean sprouts, green onion. Also agedashi tofu and mushroom salad available.

We were there yesterday for a full day snorkeling trip. It was amazing, the best snorkeling experience I’ve ever had. So we went to four spots in total, and every one of them are fantastic. It was raining a little bit but the visibility under water was still great. Lots of fishes and corals surrounding. Mr. Wayama is really friendly and good at tour guiding. The food there was also super good. I’ll come again if I had the chance.

We did a half day tour with Wayama-San and it was a great experience. Wayama-san picked us up from the port even though its a short distance to his shop. He then brought us to two beautiful snorkeling spots where we see beautiful corals, fish and sea turtle. BEST SNORKLE TOUR! We did a full day snorkelling tour yesterday and it was incredible - we did a few on the island but this was by far our fave! The guide was so happy, cheerful, passionate and full of knowledge! We speak English so although there is a language barrier he was able to communicate all the important info and he was a joy to have as a guide!!! Can’t recommend more!

Great find footsteps from my accomodation. Prices are more than reasonable for the quality, not sure what everyone is on about. Tuna sashimi is island caught and best I have had over the course of my 3 month stay in Japan. Second visit, other sashimi options when available are fresh and delicious.

Fantastic fresh fish and local dishes. Extra special kudos for the Saba no Shioyaki (Salt-grilled mackerel) and Gyu-suji (slow cooked beef with konnyaku) which were both top tier izakaya plates! If you're all about delicious fresh authentic local food, and you're not fazed by the rough and ready spartan (h/t previous reviewer) interior, then this will be a special experience for you! Just don't try to bring any vegans here!

Stopped here for drinks and appetizers. Drinks were amazing! My husband and I loved the shikuwasa (Okinawan lime) vodka drink. We shared the fried chicken (7.5/10) and the fried pork belly (10/10). The staff was so nice. And it was a very local, relaxed feel! The menu was not expensive.

We had spaghetti pastas, Margherita pizza and beef steak dish and Caesar salad. The spaghetti tasty and flavorful could compete with some chefs in Tokyo, pizza with huge amount of mozzarella cheese and steaks crispy bites. Caesar salad had tons of fresh leaves unlikely found on the island. Little slow though to serve but you can do!

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and kind. Their warm hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place!

Really nice restaurant on the island. The steak was surprisingly good—tender and juicy with a tasty sauce. Fries were decent, overall just incredibly solid meal. We had a bottle of Montepulciano which paired really well with the food and wasn’t that expensive (4000 Y). They also served their own homemade awamori—in peach and coffee flavors—which were both fun to try and tasted actually very good. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely come back.

I loved the vibe of the place, the amazing food was icing on the cake. There's English menu for peeps who'd prefer that. With an amazing value,definitely recommend one night of dinner there if you're in Zamami

Came again in winter time, OMG this is BY FAR BEST RESTAURANT on Zamami! Should really get some Michelin stars! Penne gorgonzola finger licking delicious! Coriander salad, ordered it twice! Juicy spare ribs! The chef has such a rare sense of perfect mix and ingredients are fresh, even the decoration lemon was edible and crispy delicious! ------------------------------------------------- Late summer early autumn Zamami is so crowded, lucky we got a reserve and went for dinner. Everything was extremely delicious and rich! The pizza had a lot of cheese on it, the pasta much delicious sauce, the pork Rafute had 3 pieces because we were 3 at the table, the Tako rice was a generous portion. Staff were nice too although they rush you through a bit but that is understandable because so many people want to eat there so better do your long talks in your hotel's lobby and come here to just enjoy the food. Needless to say you NEED DINNER RESERVATION booked by lunchtime or you will be starving on this island (or eat frozen pasta from the supermarket). Went through that!!! It is imperious you book a restaurant because by 6pm all places are full and you'll wander the streets from door to door in vain. And this in September not even high season! This place also servers lunch, a pity we didn't go.

Really good! Highly recommend and totally worth the price! The oyster and mushroom confit (in garlic olive oil) is so delicious, and they even make their own desserts!

The best restaurant in Zamami is also the most unassuming. Conveniently on the way to the ATM, this hidden gem serves a hearty and tasty variety of dishes fit for any taste. I had the pork yakiniku, which I had no idea what it was; and what it is, is delicious. The chef is super accommodating and the lady who took my order was so nice and helpful. It’s also very nice to communicate with someone in perfectly clear English. I can’t recommend this place enough. After a few less than optimal experiences in the island’s most popular places, Torajiro gave me back my hope of having delicious and hearty Japanese food in Kerama. Oh and the prices are great too.

If you want to savor delicious Osaka food on this island, 🍱 this izakaya is highly recommended. Delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. There are also cats who hang out here, and if you enjoy cat company they always come by and say hello. If you aren't sold by the cat friends, the food is cheap and amazing. The drinks menu is solid and they are cheap and strong, but the food is where this one man show really shines. The tofu champuru (stir fried tofu on the English menu) is absolutely bomber. The rest of the menu doesn't disappoint either, with daily availabilities written up front ranging from seasonal side dishes to fresh fish. Local specialties along with izakaya favorites in a relaxed friendly atmosphere with locals makes this izakaya a best in class experience. The owner/chef is only one man, and thus it often ends up full, but it's worth checking it he has space, or even coming by early (6-630)

This is like the best Japanese food. I had my entire trip in Japan. I had the ginger pork and I forget what the other thing was. But both of them blew my mind. 10 out of 10 would recommend

When I came to Aka Island this time, I found that the people on the island were very different from the Japanese I met in Tokyo and Osaka. They seemed more relaxed and smiled more brightly! I spent the evening with them at the bar, and their smiles were something I had never experienced anywhere else in Japan. When you order a cocktail, you can tell what flavor you like. You can also pay by credit card and electronic payment in the bar, which is really great. It was a very enjoyable evening!

Great local bar on Aka island. Drinks are reasonably priced and the bartender there can mix you up cocktails of your preference. The food and snacks are good too.

Incredibly friendly bartender, had a genuinely lovely evening chatting to him about my holiday and teaching each other about our homelands. You can request any cocktail and he will do his best to recreate it for you! A true indicator of a great barman. For tourists: you can easily pay with credit card and the barman's English is very good. Would definitely recommend you go here. Popular with the locals and for good reason.

Perfect small bar with a beautiful interior, good beer, great cocktails and food. The owner is very sympathetic. If you go there, you‘ll meet open-hearted locals, who are interested where you come from and like to communicate.

Lovely local bar, you can request for cocktails to the owner. There are also some simple food items. I recommend the Sardines!

I came here 2 times while in Zamami, the owner probably love to cook and his dishes are delicious! it's located just in the middle of the little village, at least one night you gotta try it! prices very honest!

It took a while to get seated, order, and get our food, but the food was delicious and worth the wait. We would eat here again. The gyoza, soba, and pork curry were so yummy!

Good food, can do vegetarian versions if asked. Had the goya champuru, fu champuru, and okinawa champon.

Very friendly staff, as soon as we walked in we were greeted with big smiles and friendly greetings. The menu is large enough to have a few choices but not overwhelming. My wife and I both got the stir fried vegetables with pork. It comes with a small bowl of Udon noodle soup which was also really tasty. This is definitely a place where the locals eat as we were the only Americans there and everyone else that came in was Japanese. This is a great little restaurant that is located near the downtown area so it’s easy walking distance to everything else in the area. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area, a great taste of Zamami.

Nice japanese style restaurant for lunch. We got Okinawa soba soup which was delicious and fried rice with pork, vegetable and egg. Valuable for the price. They have english menu with pictures, so it’s easy to choose for you :)

We dropped in, looking for a quick bite. We got the udon and the curry. Both were quite tasty...quite standard. I would definitely had preferred a cold noodle option since outside was at 40 degrees Celsius and there was no AC in the restaurant. The outside of the restaurant looks more rugged these days.

It’s a small restaurant only has a few seats inside but does good food on this small island. Katsudon was fantastic.

I took the food to-go and ate it at the beach with a beautiful view. It was soo delicious!

On our 1st day in Zamami, we decided to go and try this place attracted by the great reviews left by other clients in google and Tripadvisor. We were 2 adults and 2 kids. I have to say the burger was delicious, the bun super soft and the Zamami sauce incredibly tastey. Service was a bit slow and the waiter not really engaging but overall it was a great food experience. Really recommended if you are visiting Zamami.

The burger was ok and the Pizza was nowhere near an Italian (or American) Pizza, but alright. Unfortunately, the owner and the male staff was extremely rude. They made it seem like a burden when trying to make an order, slammed the food on the table and the owner didn't even greet, nor said goodbye. However, the Japanese guests sitting next to us were treated oddly nice by the owner - who is obviously not Japanese himself. Additionally, the prices are quite high. Stay away!

We ate at Zamami burger and pizza 2 nights in a row, it was that good!! It was a great taste of American food on a Japanese island. We got the cheese pizza and classic burger. The pizza was on a thin crust and cooked in a brick oven, great simple pizza with lots of flavor. The Classic burger was char broiled which is sometimes hard to find in Japan. It was thick and packed with flavor. The service was fast and they were very helpful. The chef and waiter both spoke perfect English. We only used Yen while eating here so not sure if they take card. Also highly suggest calling ahead of time and making a reservation. They book up fast!

Great burger and awesome pizza at an affordable price! If you can’t decide between the pizza or the burger, order the pizza! It was soooo good. They are open irregularly so add them on insta to get an update on their sched and specials.

Simple burger and pizza place. Pretty standard quality as you would expect on the island. No complaints.

The patty is really thick and tasty. Bread, cheese, and sauce are from supermarket so very casual. It’s not amazing but it’s a good deal for ¥800, as the most important part (meat) is good quality.

Okinawa Naha Airport. An airport which serves both domestic and international flights. It is well served by the monorail which allows travellers who had landed at the airport to travel to city area seamlessly. There are many shops and F&B located at the level 2 of the airport, but mostly on the domestic terminal public area. Furthermore, after passing the immigration centre, there are 2 cafes available for passengers before boarding the international flights. Plus, there are viewing areas at level 3 & level 4 of the terminal for the public to have a bird eye view of planes taking off and landing.

Easy to navigate around the terminal on arrival. Staff at the taxi stand were great and spoke enough English to be able to communicate with.

Nice airport. Lawson right outside of luggage pickup. Connecting footbridge to railway. Convenient enough to get to the nearest town without hiring a car. And it’s only ¥320.

I was sitting in the international departure area and had the meal at Ramen Takoyaki. It was very usual that returning the tray once after finishing the meals. The moment I returned the tray to the areas of returned trays, that old Japanese grandma staff was mad at me and instantly pulled a face. I didn't do anything wrong. I have been to many airports. This is the worst customer service I have ever been received. Is it because I'm not japanese, you can treat customers badly and rudely.

The domestic terminal is pretty basic. After security there are a few small shops with a very limited selection of food options. I regretted not buying something from the convenience store before security, and eventually had to skip lunch. The toilets get very busy. On the other side, there are many seats available which is good.

Nice airport! Unfortunately cause I arrived at 9:30 p.m., all the stores were closed. The airport is near the monorail station.
