Kangaroo Bluff Reserve is a hidden gem offering stunning water views, walking trails, picnic spots, and a playground. Visitors can enjoy activities like kayaking and paddleboarding. The reserve provides easy access with available parking and features breathtaking views of Bellerive and Mount Wellington. It's a tranquil place with historical ruins to explore, providing information about the battery. This spot is highly recommended for those seeking wonderful experiences in Australia.
A great stop on our way to the airport. Spent some time here reading about the history and walking around. Great views too!
Kerry T — Google review
Interesting place to visit, easy to look around and explore. It would have been cool to be able to access the tunnels or get more info, as I didn’t feel I could completely absorb the experience or got to understand some little pieces of it. You can probably see everything in around 15min. Gates close at 5pm but you can park outside and access walking.
Anto N — Google review
Fantastic fort worth a visit as it still has its massive cannons in place very rare in Australia
Corrion1 — Google review
After walking along the Bellerive Beach Reserve Path and Shoreline and pass Bellerive Oval, you'll find yourself walking up to the historic Kangaroo Bluff Battery Reserve. There is still remnants of in ground passageways and rock walls that was in operation during past war times. The views are magnificent and settled in a hilly residential area, it is quite peaceful to spend some time there.
Normandy J — Google review
This is a great lookout and historical lookout place very close driving distance from Hobart CBD. There are plenty of parking spaces available, and there are plenty of grassy areas around to set up a picnic. The views of the harbour are amazing. You will also find some information posted about the fort, guns, and what it was built for. This should be something to see if you are thinking of visiting Hobart.
DD — Google review
Very picturesque location with great view of Hobart and harbour, along with significant historical value. Note there are no sanitary facilities there.

Richmond Bridge

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Richmond Bridge, located in Tasmania, Australia, is a picturesque sandstone bridge that was constructed in 1825 by convict labor. It holds the distinction of being the oldest bridge still in use in Australia and is also the oldest stone span bridge in the country. The bridge serves as a main thoroughfare for both vehicles and pedestrians crossing the Coal River.
Stopped by Richmond Bridge and it’s a charming spot, perfect for a quick visit and some great photos. The historic stone bridge is picturesque, and the surrounding area is lovely with heaps of friendly ducks waddling around. It wasn’t busy at all, which made it nice and relaxing. The town itself is full of historic charm with plenty of nice cafes and eateries to enjoy. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Mark H — Google review
The Richmond Bridge is a beautiful and historically significant spot, and definitely worth stopping by if you are visiting Richmond. Built in 1825 by convicted prisoners, this picturesque sandstone bridge spans the Coal River and stands as one of Tasmania’s oldest and most iconic structures. It is a wonderful place for a short walk where you can appreciate the combination of history, architecture, and natural beauty all in one scene. The surrounding landscape is peaceful and scenic, with friendly ducks waddling around adding to the charm of the place. Behind the bridge, you will find a lovely area filled with blossoms and colourful flowers, perfect for taking photos or simply sitting back and enjoying the view.
Alvin K — Google review
What a beautiful piece of history! I still can’t believe this stunning bridge was built by convicts back in the 1820s – it’s the oldest surviving stone bridge in all of Australia and still used today. The craftsmanship is incredible, especially knowing it was all done by hand using local sandstone. The setting is just gorgeous – peaceful, with the Coal River running underneath and ducks paddling about. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet walk, picnic, or some great photos. You really get a sense of Tasmania’s colonial history just standing on it. Richmond itself is a lovely little town and this bridge is the highlight. A must-see if you’re in southern Tassie!
Daniel R — Google review
Title: Beautiful Historic Bridge Review: “Richmond Bridge is absolutely stunning and full of history. The architecture is beautiful, and the peaceful surroundings make it a perfect spot for a walk or photos. A must-visit if you’re in Tasmania!”
Noman R — Google review
DUCKIES! Such a beautiful small town with adorable duckies around. A lovely place to spend the afternoon with lots of greenaries and the duckies are an absolute gem! A very peaceful vibe. Absolute loved it and I came back from Hobart a second time during my short trip.
Euswary K — Google review
The atmosphere is nice, but today there was no sun, so I just stopped to take a photo for a short while. Richmond village is cute and friendly.
Naddawan ( — Google review
Richmond Bridge is over 202 years old, and it’s amazing to see how well it’s been preserved. I was so happy to walk around the area and take in its charm. The peaceful surroundings and historic feel made the visit even more special.
Elmer S — Google review
Richmond Bridge makes history feel beautifully immediate. Built by convict stonemasons in the 1820s, its sandstone arches still carry cars and walkers over the Coal River without fuss. From the middle of the span you get that classic view: willow trees dipping into the water, St John’s Church steeple rising just beyond the ridge, and ducks tracing lazy ripples below. Early or late in the day, warm light turns the stone a soft gold and reflections double the scene almost perfectly. Take a slow wander and the craftsmanship stands out. Hand-tooled chisel marks remain visible in many blocks, and a few stones bear the initials of the men who laid them nearly two centuries ago. Plaques at each end share the bridge’s backstory without overwhelming you, so even a casual stroll leaves you with a sense of the engineering challenge and the convict lives behind it. The surrounding parkland invites a longer pause. Grassy banks make an easy picnic spot, local swans drift by hoping for crumbs, and a short path leads to a vantage point ideal for photos. Parking lines the road near the bridge, public toilets sit a minute’s walk away, and Richmond’s bakery and cafés are close enough to grab a pastry or coffee before you settle in. Whether you visit for colonial history, photography or just a quiet riverside break, Richmond Bridge rewards every unhurried step.

Richmond Gaol

Mentioned on
1 list
Historical place
Museums
The Richmond Gaol, built in 1825, is a notable prison with tours of its cells, holding rooms and yards. The gift shop adds to the attraction's appeal. This oldest jail in Australia features displays that depict the lives of convicts, gaolers and administrators. Visitors are treated to an actual experience of what took place during that time period. Of particular interest are the solitary cells without windows where convicts were confined for up to 21 days without exercise or fresh air.
It's a very old site, haunted, oozing with suffering history and you can feel it through these old walls. My young son got a mysterious nose bleed as soon as he entered the Gaoler's residence (near the steps), started crying and said he felt weird and left! 😬
S C — Google review
A must-visit piece of Australian history! I’m so glad the public can now access Richmond Gaol—it’s incredible to think this place was a private residence for so long. The site is beautifully preserved, offering a powerful glimpse into Tasmania’s convict past. The lady at the entrance was especially lovely and helpful—she shared some fascinating details about Richmond’s history that really enriched our time exploring the area. There were also some great activities for my 8-year-old to do while we walked through the jail—she had fun spotting things and ticking them off her scavenger hunt, which made the visit even more enjoyable for her. And just outside the jail, we found an excellent pie and pastry shop—perfect for a snack before or after your visit. Highly recommended stop if you’re in the area!
Daniel R — Google review
It was truly excellent. Rod, the staff member, was incredibly friendly, professional, and full of helpful information. The goal is breathtaking, with stunning displays that really wow you, and the condition of the building is impressive. We've driven past many times and are so glad we finally stopped to explore. The informative plaques inside beautifully tell the stories of the men and women connected to this place. The gift shop is packed with a wide variety of products—you'll love browsing through it. I’m not posting too many pictures because you really need to experience it for yourself. Keep up the fantastic work maintaining this gorgeous building and its grounds!
Matuka — Google review
Being older than Port Arthur, the restoration is well done. Solitary confinement rooms where you can experience what it would have been like - dark and tiny. A piece of history captured in completion compared to ruins of other Gaols from original settlements. Worth seeing
Michelle S — Google review
It’s very small but the experience is very unique and interesting. Bit pricey for the experience but cheap otherwise... It’s a bit tricky, you will like it or maybe you will think it was a waste. We enjoyed it and found the experience alright. If you go there enjoy the Richmond town as a whole and then it will satisfy your enthusiastic mind. Thank you. Enjoy...
Fallguy — Google review
The oldest existing Gaol in Australia and it has been well preserved. Would have preferred a tour guide or maybe an audio tour but still thought it was worthwhile.
Donna D — Google review
The restoration of this place is very well done, and it's amazing how much was able to be retained/restored when you compare it with other facilities from the same period. The self-tour was informative and there was plenty of information around the place. I appreciated the recreations to demonstrate what conditions would have been like.

Superb little gaol museum. Well worth a visit if you find yourself in Richmond. A completely different experience to Port Arthur.

Hobart Zoo and Aquarium

Wildlife park
Outdoor Activities
Zoodoo Zoo is a small to medium-sized wildlife park that offers a range of interactive experiences, including animal feeding and informative talks throughout the day. Visitors can enjoy seeing a variety of birds and mammals, both native and imported. The zoo has excellent farmyard and wallaby feeding paddocks, as well as efforts to preserve Swift Parrots. One highlight is the Lion experience where visitors can see these amazing creatures up close. Additionally, guests can watch zebras and other Australian animals in their enclosures.
We had such an amazing day out with the kids at ZooDoo! What makes it really special is how up close and personal you can get with the animals – something you just don’t experience at the bigger zoos. A real highlight was seeing the Tasmanian devils so active and visible, which is a rare treat (you never see them at Melbourne Zoo!). The animal encounters were an incredible add-on, absolutely worth it for such a unique and memorable opportunity. The kids’ playgrounds were incredible! You can really see the investment that has been made recently, and it’s exciting to know there’s even more to come. Stuart and his staff went above and beyond to make the day an experience to remember. The kids were thrilled, and we all left with big smiles. We can’t wait to come back and see what’s in store next!
Fly G — Google review
I'd give 10 stars if I could. Stuart is an incredible host, the staff are all lovely, the animals are healthy and well loved. The scenery is gorgeous. You can feed beautiful cows, roos, all kinds of animals. The meerkat experience is fantastic. Our entire WA state masters team canes through and we had such a good time, we came back with our families. 10/10.

It was my wife and I second time visiting Tasmania visiting from Melbourne and first time visiting Hobart Zoo and Aquarium. Words cannot describe how amazing our experience was. From seeing all the animals and the newly addition aquarium and also being told there will be more in the future, we will definitely come back. I was told of the owner Stuart’s vision of the zoo and aquarium in bringing more animals and fish which excites me and can’t wait to come back. Being able to feed the animals was such a magical experience and something I will never forget. Lastly our first time feeding meerkats and that was a priceless and unforgettable moment for my wife and I. Special mention to Karinda for guiding us through the meerkat feeding experience, she’s such an amazing and lovely person who is so passionate about not only her job but importantly animals. We will definitely be back!
Johnny P — Google review
This zoo is located on a farm site. It is fairly easy to drive to and has a good variety of animals. adored the highland cows and the rare white lions. Little kids seemed to thoroughly enjoy animals as you can feed some of them. There is also an indoor kids playground. There is ample parking available. A small Cafe is located inside pricing is reasonable. Good experience, inexpensive and can now say I saw a Tasmanian Daredevil in Tasmania!
TRISH S — Google review
We recently visited Hobart Zoo and Aquarium, previously known as the ZooDoo, and honestly had such a great time! It was a spontaneous little outing for us as a couple, and it turned out to be a really fun and wholesome way to spend a few hours. Admission is $37 per adult, which at first felt a little on the higher end for a smaller zoo - but once you’re inside, you start to see why Hobart Zoo and Aquarium is not a huge, commercial-style zoo- it’s more personal, interactive, and down-to-earth. It’s clear that they care deeply about the animals, and the whole experience feels thoughtfully curated. We spent about 2 hours walking around, and that was the perfect amount of time to see everything without feeling rushed. The layout is easy to follow, and you get up close to many of the animals. One of the best parts was being able to feed some of the animals using tokens that are $3 a pop - which you can buy only at the entrance with multiple stations to redeem them inside. Feeding kangaroos, cows, smaller animals like rabbits and guinea pigs and even some farm animals was such a fun touch, and would be especially exciting for kids. Although the Zoo is clearly geared toward families and larger groups (which makes sense, given how interactive and animal-focused it is), it still worked really well as a smaller outing for just the two of us. There’s something really sweet about wandering around, feeding animals together, and just enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. We saw lots of laughing kids and families having a blast, so if you’re thinking of coming with children, they’ll absolutely love it. A pleasant surprise during our visit was the newly added aquarium, which you’ll find through the café area. It’s a small but nicely done space, and a great little bonus to the visit. There’s even a small touch pool, which adds an extra interactive element - especially fun for kids, but honestly just as enjoyable for adults curious about marine life. It’s a quiet, calming space and a great addition to the overall Zoo experience. The café itself is also a nice spot to take a short break, with indoor seating and some outdoor views. It's perfectly located if you want to grab a coffee or snack before heading into the aquarium. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the animals looked well cared for. Enclosures were clean, and many of the animals seemed comfortable approaching visitors, especially during feeding. If you’re in the Hobart area and looking for something light-hearted, easygoing, and interactive - whether as a couple or with friends or family - Hobart Zoo and Aquarium is definitely worth a visit. It’s not a massive zoo, but that’s part of its charm. You leave feeling happy, and maybe a little more connected to the animals than at a larger, more commercial park. Highly recommend for a fun half-day activity. We’ll definitely come back again!
Emily B — Google review
I'm thoroughly impressed with the recent upgrades they are truly impressive! The staff's warm hospitality makes the experience even more enjoyable. The aquarium is a major highlight, and I really enjoyed hand-feeding the animals and bird feeding. The gift shop offers a good variety of souvenirs or gifts for loved ones and the food at the cafe is delicious! I highly recommend this zoo.
Grant S — Google review
We loved our time at this zoo! We were surprised by how fairly priced the tickets were and being able to interact with the animals at no extra cost. You can tell the zoo keepers love what they do and love their animals. So lovely to see. Thank you for an amazing experience!!
Laura — Google review
I recently visited Hobart Zoo and Aquarium (formerly Zoodoo Zoo) with my sister who was visiting from the US, and I wanted to give us an experience we couldn't get anywhere else. I'm so glad I splurged on the $750(AU) VIP encounter package for two – it was absolutely worth it! While I realize that it depends on how many others happen to sign up the same day, we were blessed to have a dedicated keeper for the two of us. The Incredible Encounters We participated in encounters with koalas, a black-headed python, cotton-headed tamarins, marmosets, a black cockatoo, meerkats, squirrel monkeys, servals, Tasmanian devils, and the highlight – the lion encounter with Lions Raw. Each experience was thoughtfully curated and genuinely special. Outstanding Staff Emma was our primary guide throughout the day and she was phenomenal. She ensured we learned fascinating details about each animal, never once making us feel rushed. Her passion and knowledge really enhanced every encounter. The lion experience was absolutely breathtaking. First we were able to feed them with tongs through the fence at the front of their habitat. Then Emma and Karinda (who was hilarious and wonderful – we could genuinely be friends!) took us behind the scenes to the lions' holding area. We were told about the safety protocols, the health care and enrichment activities for the lions. Then they set out the food and brought each one in. Hearing the lions vocalize up close – feeling the vibrations in my chest with only the cage between us and no plexiglass – was truly awe-inspiring and something I'll never forget. Jody at the front desk was also fantastic, answering all our questions and making sure we had everything we needed. The Owner Makes All the Difference What really impressed me was meeting Stuart, the new owner. When we stayed until the end for Lions Raw (4-5pm), he asked for feedback. I mentioned that we'd somehow missed the koala and squirrel monkey encounters, despite being told the package included everything. Without hesitation, Stuart personally took us to both encounters after closing time while the zoo was shutting down. His dedication, humor, and passion for the animals and his vision for the zoo really shone through. This level of customer service is rare and deeply appreciated. The Transformation It's clear Stuart is investing heavily in the zoo's future. New aquariums have been added, and construction is ongoing in various areas – all without interfering with the guest experience or animal viewing. The park is evolving beautifully and I can’t wait to see how it progresses. One Small Disappointment The only letdown was that the open bus ride through the paddocks (which allowed guests to pet and feed zebras and camels) is no longer offered. This was actually why I chose to return to this zoo after visiting in 2017. While you can still see these animals in the fields, the interactive experience is gone. Given the premium price we paid, I'd hoped this might still be available, but I understand changes happen under new ownership. It does sound like there is a plan to bring something back but in a different way. Final Thoughts Despite the one disappointment, this was an extraordinary day that my sister and I will treasure forever. The animal encounters were incredible, the staff was exceptional, and Stuart's commitment to both his animals and his guests is evident. If you're visiting Tasmania and want a truly memorable wildlife experience, I highly recommend Hobart Zoo and Aquarium. The VIP package is pricey, but for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, it delivers. Thank you to Emma, Karinda, Jody, and especially Stuart for making our Tasmanian adventure unforgettable!

Old Hobart Town, Richmond, Tasmania

Museums
Souvenir store
Specialty Museums
Old Hobart Town is a tourist attraction that allows visitors to explore a miniature replica of Hobart as it was in the 1820s. This model town is filled with interesting and historical items, such as Tasmanian tigers and depictions of daily life, making it both educational and enjoyable for people of all ages. The proprietor is friendly and willing to share knowledge about the history of old Hobart town, adding to the overall experience.
Love this small scale model representation of Hobart during the 1820's. The people including convicts and redcoats, families and animals and the bay with ships is a real must-do when in Richmond. Only 20 minutes from Hobart this little stop over is a must. Toilets & gift shop available.
David N — Google review
Old Hobart Town is a delightful surprise tucked behind the main street of Richmond. The scale model recreates 1820s Hobart in impressive detail; you wander along winding paths while tiny schooners sit in the “harbour”, convicts push wheelbarrows and ladies in bonnets chat outside Georgian cottages. Informative boards at key spots explain the stories behind each scene, so you pick up pieces of Tasmanian history without feeling like you are back in school. Kids love hunting for the cheeky Tasmanian devil hiding among the figurines, and adults tend to linger over the craftsmanship in the sandstone facades and shingled roofs. The gardens around the model are well kept, adding splashes of lavender, rosemary and native grasses that frame the miniature streetscapes. There are plenty of benches if you want to sit and take it all in, and the looped layout means you can browse at your own pace without doubling back. Staff at the entrance are welcoming and happy to point out easy-to-miss scenes, like the bushranger ambush near the quarry or the tiny greyhounds racing beyond the city walls. Practicalities are straightforward. Parking is available on the adjacent side street, the gift shop stocks local books and postcards, and the site is mostly level, making it manageable for prams and wheelchairs. Tickets are valid for re-entry on the same day, which is handy if you want to duck out for lunch in the village and return for another look. As a compact blend of history lesson, garden stroll and model-makers’ showcase, Old Hobart Town offers something different from the usual heritage stops and is well worth the visit.
Le G — Google review
Old Hobart Town in Richmond is a very interesting and well-crafted attraction that offers a unique look into Tasmania’s past. The miniature models are impressively detailed, with carefully designed figures, buildings, and scenes that bring the early days of Hobart to life. The characters look surprisingly realistic, and if you take the time to look closely, you will notice many clever and amusing details hidden throughout the display. One of the most fascinating parts of the visit is realising that some of the buildings represented in the model still exist today in Hobart’s city centre. Seeing the models first and then spotting the real buildings later adds a special connection between history and the present day. The entry fee is slightly high, but when you consider the level of detail and the effort required to maintain such intricate models, it feels justified. It is clear that a great deal of time and care has gone into keeping the exhibit in excellent condition.
Alvin K — Google review
Excellent. The models are built with great attention to detail. It gives a great insight into Hobart's beginnings. You are also challenged to find certain figures hidden within the village which adds to the experience.

We visited a small town in Tasmania and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, with beautiful scenery all around. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, take a deep breath, and just enjoy the moment. The locals were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more special. It’s definitely a great spot for a peaceful getaway — perfect for relaxing, daydreaming, or simply doing nothing at all. A hidden gem that’s worth a visit if you’re exploring Tasmania.
Bennie A — Google review
A Miniature Marvel Full of Heart The delightful Miniature Hobart in Richmond is pure magic. Every tiny detail bursts with character and cheeky charm — you can almost hear the laughter of the whimsical townsfolk frozen mid-mischief. It’s more than just a miniature world; it’s a love letter to imagination itself. But what truly touched me was the clear love and dedication between the creator and his son — a bond that breathes life into every tiny street and scene. Their shared joy and humour shine through in each playful vignette, making this enchanting little world feel alive. An absolute must-see — heartwarming, creative

I was one of 29 Carseldine Probus members who were on an extended holiday from Brisbane, Queensland to have the opportunity to visit Old Hobart Town. We were on day tour to Port Arthur Historical Site and passing through the township of Richmond stopped off to visit the historical Old Hobart Town. This is a unique multi-award winning model village that dispicts life in Hobart as it was in the 1820's. Hobart itself was named after Lord Hobart the then secretary of the state for the Colonial Department. John Sullivan was the under secretary. The colony remained part of NSW until 1825. The beautifully handcrafted work that has been done over a 3 year period by Andrew and John Quick is some of the most authentic that I have ever seen. Such attention to detail! Old Hobart Town is ideally located at 21a Bridge St,Richmond TAS 7025 and is definitely a great family friendly place to enjoy quality time. There are plenty of shops and cafes in this part of Tasmania and the tickets you purchase when visiting Old Hobart Town can be used during the day. Old Hobart Town is easily accessible to people with wheelchairs or mobility scooters being on the ground floor level. Toilets are located nearby with further amenities available in the township of Richmond. I will definitely be recommending anyone visiting this magnificent area of Tasmania drop by and take the time to enjoy visiting Old Hobart Town.

Puddleduck Wines

Vineyard
Food & Drink
Puddleduck Vineyard is a charming, family-friendly winery with ample space for kids to play. Visitors can enjoy a delightful wine flight featuring the crisp and creamy 2021 Bubbleduck, the lovely dry 2023 riesling, and the easy-drinking Fume Blanc 2023. The cellar door also offers delicious treats like brownies and coffee in a friendly atmosphere. Additionally, guests can purchase Puddleduck paraphernalia if they're fond of ducks.
My group had a wine and cheese pairing and owner Darren was amazing!! Darren is very down to earth and he could be working on the grounds one moment and explaining all the wine and cheese pairings the next moment! It’s a great family owned place and he told us the funny story of how him and his wife got the name of his vineyard, which took years for them to name! You have to visit to hear the story though!! It’s a nice mid-day or afternoon getaway place, where you can enjoy a quick bite to eat, sit with the ducks that waddle around and enjoy the views of a vineyard and pond! They also have a play area that the little ones can enjoy!

Great fun for the kids. Grab some duck food for some feeding frenzy experience. Absolutely would recommend for the kids while the kids at heart enjoy their “wine o clock”

A random winery pick turned out to be a hidden gem. Fantastic wine, food, location and staff (thanks Sammy and Sandy). The tasting platter and some shared desserts was ample food for 4. The guided wine tasting was delightful (particularly if you have the platter as there’s an interesting twist if Sandy passes on her advice). Sammy made us feel like family and made it a memorable afternoon. Don’t forget to feed the ducks before you leave - why should kids get all the fun!!

Puddleduck winery was recommend by one of our friends who had visited previously and we were not disappointed. Our wine guide "Emily" had a wealth of information and was very attentive to us! The selection of wines on the tasting palate was very good and we had the little local cheese platter too! And of course the lovely ducks! Highly recommend this lovely winery in Richmond.

It was a bit of a whim, on a day that turned too cold to pursue the walk we had planned. Our plan changed, we decided to visit Puddle Duck vineyard in the Coal Valley. It had been a few years since my last visit so I was excited to see what was available. Firstly, there was space inside, warm and cosy (perfect for this time of year in Tassie). Next up, the service was prompt and friendly, true Tassie style. Susie ordered a glass of Bubble duck vintage sparkling, I ordered the tasting paddle. The sparkling was so good Susie needed a second one. The tasting paddle included the Vintage (2022)Sparkling wine along with a sample of Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot noir (all from 2024). None of the wines disappointed and all were a lovely match with the delicious Bread olive oil and Dukkah, and the newly listed Pulled pork tacos. Got to love local done well. Thank you for your hospitality guys, see you again soon.

Beautiful vineyard to visit and one of the best homemade lasagna's ever. Love the duck theme of the vineyard, and especially love the Bubbleduck Sparkling wine.

The service here was so good! We randomly picked this winery to visit on our very last day in Tasmania, to fill in time before our flight home. We both had a tasting flight of wines, and some snacks to go along with them. The wines were lovely, as was the food. They also have a nice little lake situation going on right next to the seating area, so you're able to wander over after lunch and feed the ducks. Well worth a visit!

My step daughter booked a baby shower over 2 weeks ago at Puddleduck Vineyard in Richmond for yesterday Sunday. The day arrived and she was told that her party had to sit outside because inside was booked out? Naturally she had table decorations balloons etc, as she was celebrating her baby news with family and friends. So having to sit outside in cyclonic winds wasn’t suitable. She decided to take the so called “platters” she’d ordered )which was disgustingly expensive for what she got).Even the quests asked who prepared the platters. Luckily one of her friends provided a last minute venue for her.She was charged $700!!!! 😡for those platters. This is obscene. There was a small tray of fruit that had maybe 1/2 a pineapple, a punnet of blueberries, 1 or 2 oranges, a handful of grapes and a few slices of watermelon. There was 1 tray of cucumber and cheese ( processed sliced cheese) sandwiches ( she ordered a variety). A small tray of rolls with a filling. A small tray of sausage rolls and pies that were horrible. I have never in my lifetime seen so much greed and obscene overcharging. She is 23 years old and to have to outlay $700 for nothing is very heartbreaking.

Visitors praise Charlie, the knowledgeable and engaging host who adds a delightful touch to the tour with his enthusiasm for each wine's unique characteristics. The rustic charm of the location enhances the enjoyment of their Riesling and other wines. Guests also appreciate Tristan's expertise in serving delicious wines and extras, making their experience enjoyable and unique.
We had a nice wine and decided to track down the winery. The drive was very pleasant, even if we took a slight detour over the mountains. The winery itself was stunning, a nice quiet deck to sit on even for a busy day. The pizza selection was extensive with some delicious platters to accompany them. And a useful selection of wines. Nestled amongst the vines it was a great lunch stop. The tasting room looked brilliant but did require a booking.

Had a great experience doing a wine tasting here! Came for pizzas but we were a bit early, turned out for the best because the wine tasting was amazing, tried some new wines for me personally and had a lovely young guy who talked me through each wine and gave us some great recs for restaurants in the area too. Definitely recommend! The venue itself is beautiful too.

Second stop for our winery tour! Amazing wines they have to offer. Such a nice venue as well with the amazing views of the valley. The wines were top notch being the Syrah as the favourite! Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable!Highly recommend for anyone to visit and enjoy some of Tasmania’s finest quality wines!

Pooley Wines feels like stepping into the Italian countryside—such a charming and picturesque setting. Even on a busy afternoon, our server was incredibly attentive and took the time to answer all our questions with so much knowledge and care. The wines were superb, each glass full of character and beautifully made. We’re already looking forward to coming back, especially to try their wood-fired pizza next time!

Perfect day. Found it a little challenging getting a park but that is because it is a very charming spot. The service was fantastic, all staff were amazing very natural and accomodating. The food was lovely had two pizzas and the cheese board. In the wine tasting the woman was informative and friendly. Adjusted her pitch to our bogan personalities. It was my son’s first sample of wine and was a great introduction into the subtleties of flavours and what makes a great drop. We left with a bottle of wine. Thanks for a great day

We booked for the lunch and wine tasting during our day visit to Richmond. Everything about Pooley Wineries is gorgeous! The smell of wood-fired pizza greets you on entry and the lunch area looks out over a gorgeous farm at the top of Richmond. The wine tasting has a variety of selections. We did the 6-wine tasting for $15 and it is certainly worth the money, especially after having a delicious fresh pizza. ** EDIT: I should mention, we did the day trip to Richmond from Hobart without renting a car. The Pooley Winery is an easy walk from the Richmond city centre.

A wonderful Richmond winery with original sandstone buildings. They cook great wood-fired pizzas. We had the Prosciutto, rocket, parmesan and balsamic, plus the Pepperoni and mozzarella and the Duck, hoisin, spring onion and red capsicum. All very, very tasty. Can't wait to go back.

Coal River Farm

Coal River Farm is a modern Australian cuisine farmhouse kitchen that specializes in small batch cheeses and artisanal chocolates. The establishment was visited during Easter Sunday, where the staff was overwhelmed with customers. Despite some areas being messy, the marzipan chocolate was exceptional with a taste sensation. True marzipan has a set percentage of almonds, which this establishment seemed to have used. They offer cheese and meals as well and have an unusual building design.
Had a lovely visit to Coal River Farm. The Camembert and Brie were rich, creamy, and full of flavour, perfect for any cheese lover. I also tried the Tasmanian caramel and vanilla truffle chocolate, which was absolutely delicious. Paired with a hot chocolate, it made for a cosy and satisfying treat. A modern farm with delicate chocolates✨✨ It’s so hard to choose them in front of the window case. The flavor and the design of the chocolate are special and represent the features of Tasmania!! My favorite one is PECAN. A little bit crunchy inside with easily melted chocolate especially the golden leaf outfit🍂 The animals there are so cute and interactive 🐐🦫It’s a great place to enjoy chocolate, wine and the time on weekends with family and friends 👍🏻

Aa a cheese lover, I just had to have the baked brie. It came with accompaniments that really enhanced the dish, sourdough toast, walnuts and figs. I added the vegetable side to make it a perfectly balanced meal. Our group of five included my young grandson, so it was great to have farm animals nearby to keep him entertained while we awaited our meals.

Pre-booked a high cheese and chocolate platter for my wife’s birthday. The platter on first appearance seemed like it might not be enough but our eyes fooled us as we only just finished it. A great selection of cheeses and chocolates to choose from that were all high quality and well presented. Topped off with a beverage of your choice was a great addition. The farm isn’t anything real fancy, has a nice outlook down over the valley into the hills, but it could use some further additions and upgrades for a more up market special feel. Consideration to decor and displays could be worked on too. The staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. Overall a very nice experience, it’s worth the venture.

Church of Saint John the Evangelist

Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
St John the Evangelist Catholic Church is a picturesque and historic church located in Richmond, Australia. Situated on a hill overlooking the Coal River and Australia's oldest bridge, this church dates back to 1836, making it the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country that has been continuously used. Visitors are drawn to its stunning stained glass windows and well-maintained grounds. The churchyard features tombstones dating back to the nineteenth century, offering a glimpse into history.
I left the car in town and started walking pass the bridge. I saw a cross in top of a small hill and followed it. It was St John Catholic Church. There was sign at the entrance reminding people it is a house of God so please show reverence. This was listed as a tourist spot but people must remember it is the house of God. Kindly show reverence. It was so peaceful to pray there in front of the tabernacle. The statues of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Joseph were beautiful. I'm happy to put in donations for this church. Outside was a cemetery and a beautiful view of Richmond Tasmania. God is not mocked in this Church.
B C — Google review
St John the Evangelist Church in Richmond is truly a national treasure. Built in the 1830s, it’s not only the oldest continuously used Catholic church in Australia, but also one of the most beautifully preserved examples of early colonial religious architecture. Perched on a gentle rise overlooking the Coal River and historic Richmond Bridge, the church is striking with its stone Gothic Revival design, elegant spire, and peaceful graveyard. The architecture has evolved over time—originally quite modest, then expanded in the 1850s with Pugin-inspired additions like the chancel and sacristy. The copper-clad spire seen today dates to 1972, giving the church its distinctive silhouette. Inside, the craftsmanship is just as impressive. There are beautiful stained-glass windows, a carved marble altar, and a limestone baptismal font brought over from England in the 1840s. Every element seems to tell a story of the faith and dedication of Tasmania’s early settlers. Whether you’re a lover of history, architecture, or simply after a moment of quiet reflection, this church is a must-visit when in Richmond. It’s a proud and sacred part of Australia’s heritage.
Daniel R — Google review
Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery is a historic burial ground associated with Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a parish that has served its community for many years. The cemetery is the final resting place for many parishioners, including early settlers, clergy, and local figures who played a role in the development of the area. Like many Catholic cemeteries, Saint John the Evangelist Cemetery follows traditional burial practices, with headstones and monuments reflecting deep religious significance. Many graves feature crosses, angels, and inscriptions of prayers, emphasizing the faith and devotion of those buried there. Family plots are common, showcasing the strong ties within the Catholic community. The cemetery is often well-maintained, with its peaceful atmosphere and historical significance making it a place of reflection and remembrance. Visitors come not only to pay respects to loved ones but also to appreciate the history captured in the headstones, some of which date back many generations.
Cady L — Google review
Very beautiful church, specially on the outside. Really well taken care of gardens. There’s a cemetery on site as well. Plenty of parking. Within a few min walk from Richmond bridge. A must see in town!
Anto N — Google review
Lovely church. Great to see the old altar still there, would have been better if the post Vatican II novus ordo mass table was not there so you could properly see the 1930's hand carved altar. Cemetery needs some more care taken of it, the older part specifically. There is the original schoolhouse there too and brief history both there and in the foyer of the Church which was fantastic, not too much, not too little.
Melody X — Google review
Beautiful historic church. Reminds me of ones I was dragged to in my childhood... Really good history photos and story in the entrance vestibule. More than what's in the photo. Cemetery out the back is very interesting too...

Pooseum

Museums
Pooseum is a unique museum in the Richmond area that offers an intriguing look into the world of animal feces. It's not as gross as it may sound and is actually quite interesting, especially for kids with a curious mind. The museum features quirky facts about poop, such as the square shape of wombat poo and how some caterpillars can eject their waste up to 1.5 meters away.
What a unique establishment. Never imagined there could be a museum about Poo 💩💩💩 The owner is very passionate about her business and is extremely involved in ensuring the visitors have a pleasant insightful experience. Very thoughtfully done place. Use of modern technology at multiple places to make the whole experience an interactive and informative one. Well done ✅

I highly recommend you to visit this museum. It is small but very informative. Karin the owner was so helpful and dedicated to create this museum, maintained the objects, kept them clean and accommodated every single visitors. You would need to spend time to read so you could learn heaps of interesting things. The museum is for 16 years old and above so I would suggest you used your time wisely for exploring great things like this.

It was marvelous. Kids (8, 12, 16) loved it. So did their mother and so did I. It is cute, informative and funny. The toilets are a must see. Don't be afraid it is not gross, well maybe the fart button is a bit gross, but mostly it is just interesting. Videos and questions and art and lots and lots of scatological facts.
Derek W — Google review
What an eye opener this Pooseum is. Karin has a passion for all animals and their faeces which she displays in such an inventive way, that young and old can't help but become interested too. The only Museum of this kind in the world, is a credit to Karin. You won't regret visiting when you call into Richmond.

What an amazing place this is? So funny but full of fascinating information about the one thing people often don’t want to think about!!! Karin is a wonderful person with an amazing mind for creative ways of tackling this often taboo subject. And we only saw the reception area and the toilet as we turned up too late and she was closing. But she took the time to chat with her for over an hour! And what a mind of curious information she had - lol! The exhibits and educational posters and items are so well done. This is a must visit! LOVED IT!!

For those planning a wedding, Frogmore Creek offers a seamless and professional experience with friendly communication throughout the process. Had a nice lunch at this winery. Oysters and scallops were topped with very nice sauces that brought out the sweetness of the shellfish. We were not really drinkers so we ordered a 3-wine tasting series to share. Service was prompt and friendly too.

Restaurant seemed to be bustling for a Sunday lunch session but our food was brought out quickly. All items of food were delicious. We aren’t red wine drinkers so didn’t partake in the paired wines but we enjoyed a glass of curvee followed by a dessert wine each. Wait staff were attentive and courteous. Lovely atmosphere next to the fireplace. Can’t really fault anything.

**✨ A Magical Day at Frogmore Creek: Helicopters, Wine, and a Fairytale Dessert! ✨** My visit to **Frogmore Creek Winery** was nothing short of spectacular—an unforgettable blend of luxury, flavor, and Tasmanian charm. From the moment we soared over Hobart in a helicopter, gazing at the River Derwent and Mount Wellington, I knew this would be special . Landing like VIPs amid the vineyards set the tone for an afternoon of indulgence. The **wine tasting** was a masterclass in cool-climate excellence. Frogmore’s pinot noir and chardonnay stood out, with the staff’s passion for their craft shining through every pour . But the real showstopper was the **seasonal lunch** on The Deck. The menu celebrated local produce—think fresh seafood, artisan cheeses, and dishes paired perfectly with their wines . Then came the **Sleeping Beauty dessert**—a lyrical creation of lychee panna cotta, amaretto mousse, raspberry cremeaux, and rosewater sponge, crowned with almond shortbread and lychee sorbet. Each bite was a symphony of textures and flavors, as delicate as it was decadent . It’s not just a dessert; it’s an experience! The cherry on top? Lingering over our meal with vineyard views before a relaxed drive back to Hobart. Frogmore Creek isn’t just a winery; it’s a **Tasmanian gem** where every detail—from the helicopter arrival to the last spoonful of dessert—feels like a celebration. **10/10, would fly back in a heartbeat!** --- *Tips for future visitors:* - Book the **helicopter tour with lunch upgrade** for the full experience . - Save room for *Sleeping Beauty*—it’s as stunning as it sounds . - Check opening times (closed Tuesdays!) and ask about seasonal menu changes .

This is the best Italian restaurant we have been to in Hobart. And it was the perfect way to end our visit to Tassie. The service from staff here is fantastic: Friendly, welcoming, showing interest in how our day was, coming over at the perfect times, and always so professional. The food was amazing: Taste, portion size & the time it came out. Tried the Carbonara fettuccine and regular size bbq pizza which was the perfect size for 2 people and had a great amount of toppings on (chicken, ham, pineapple, mushrooms & bbq sauce). They even cooked the fettuccine slightly longer for us to suit our preferences. We shared the dishes and NEARLY made it through the final slice of pizza. We left so full and content. The menus options are substantial and prices are fair. Wish we had room to try the dessert! Next time… The atmosphere is lovely and lively here with nice dim lighting. Views of the yachts and water. The restaurant was basically full and we still managed to get a seat without reservation. However I would recommend making a reservation if you don’t want to miss out or for a special occasion. Parking is available down the road where the Bellerive pier is. Was free after 6pm.

Forget roast of the day - how about ROAST OF THE YEAR. Perfectly cooked fresh vegetables, tender roast meat and the perfect amount of gravy. Service was excellent 👌🏻

Thought we’d give the local a try. We left so disappointed. To begin with the service was really slow. It then took 45 minutes for the meals to arrive. In the mean time any time we approached the bar for a drink it took longer than it should have for service. The meals finally arrived and how very disappointed we were. Seriously the meals didn’t even appear to be cooked by a basic cook let alone a chef! The Garlic prawns were inedible, the rice was hard and under cooked. The crumbed scallops looked like they’d been cooked in very old oil. I’ve given 2 stars as the dining room is nice. This place has so much potential. They just need to get the staff on board!

Please give some love to your kitchen. Everyone loved the view and the venue was lovely. Unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed with the food. Maybe there wasn't a cook available 🤔 Everything was burnt scallops schnitzels, sausages were of the lowest quality and suffering malnutrition. The time well ...... what a pity. Oh and sesame oil on the salads !??

Went as a Group of 15 for dinner on a quiet Sunday night (6th oct) , there were only a handful of other tables. We waited for close to 1 1/2 for our meals. One was still waiting after 2 hours for a schnitzel. Numerous requests were made with no satisfaction. Were told the long wait was due to other large tables needing to be served. This was in fact untrue as we were the largest table, and ordered long before a few of the other tables ( our booking was for 5.30pm) Out of the 10 adult meals 5 were refunded due to fact they were inedible. The remaining meals were sub standard, crumbed scallops burnt, seafood basket watery ( which caused 24 hours of gastro) I've not even had the courtesy of response to my email sent to management. As locals this was our local for many years, but after a few years of average service we changed to our new "local". We decided to give them another go , never again.

Room was clean and comfortable. As its a pub there is a cigarette undertone smell. Food was amazing! So much I couldn't finish. Street noise is a bit much so pack earplugs.

I went to the Beltana with my family and it was a mixed experience. Firstly it is a really awkward parking lot which takes some figuring out but that can’t be changed. Secondly it was a really stressful event. I don’t know why but I was really stressed out the whole time when I am normally quite relaxed. Third the ladies were excellent and their service was great. Fourth my children went to the toilet and in the way back the youngest thought she knew the way back to the table but accidentally got her directions mixed up and accidentally went into the gambling area and got screamed at by a bald man they said he was. My oldest told me that her younger sibling quickly realised her mistake and walked out when she realised that it wasn’t the way to the toilet. Fifth they didn’t have many “good” options in my opinion but if you like a generic pub meal go here. In conclusion I had mixed feelings about the beltana, but I would recommend to someone who wants a good meal with kind servers

Refused to sell me a pint at schooner price despite it being clearly on the front page of their website and on a bar sign. Person serving us also said she was afraid to talk to the chef. Sounds like a toxic workplace. 😢

Beaches Restaurant & Bar

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
The evening at Beaches was delightful, with a dinner reservation at 6pm. Upon arrival, the restaurant was bustling and disorganized due to a wedding function. However, the staff promptly assisted us and restored order in the establishment. The waitress named Angelina was kind and the restaurant manager Jean went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. The service was efficient and the food surpassed expectations in both taste and timing.
Surprised to see all of the bad reviews recently as we had such a lovely experience! Our waiter was lovely and friendly, the food came quickly and tasted great. The location is peaceful and relaxing, perfect for a catch up chat with friends or others. Would highly recommend the vegetarian pizza, take it outside if you can their outdoor tables are the best and the plants are a lovely addition! Will be back again ☺️

We stopped in here for lunch. We shared a garlic bread to start. My wife had the fish and chips. It was such a big serving! I had the bbq meat lovers pizza, which was nice although the base seemed a little stale and the chicken was particularly dry. But on the whole was a nice meal for the both of us

Came here for dinner when we stayed at the nearby accommodation. We didn't have a reservation. They accommodated us despite being busy. I ordered the fish dish which was on the smaller side. The salad was tasty. I am not sure the fish was cooked through because I had a sore tummy later on. 😅 I should've said something at the time. Hubby was happy with his schnitzel. It was a generous portion.

Lovely place and was our lunch spot before flying home as it was very close to the airport. Quiet spot and really nice. We sat outside and or kids had fun running in the outdoor area. Service was prompt and food was super tasty. Calamari was juicy and fish and chips were great! Highly recommended. Because it was Easter the chef came out with special cookies for the kids (and maybe me ..😂 )....great end note to the meal!

This was a last minute decision to dine here and we are so greatful that they could squeeze us in. Right from the moment of arriving the customer service was fantastic. Food beautifully prepared and full of amazing flavours. To finish off with desert, with Jean going to the extra effort by placing a candle on my slice of cake and sang happy birthday. Highly recommend this venue and we will definitely be back again.
Sue K — Google review
The place is family oriented, great service from all the staff especially Jean, so very welcoming. The food is so great especially the battered fish and chips. Prices are modest and is so convenient from the resort were in. The broccoli and cauliflower bites were so fresh and crunchy the batter but the salmon profiteroles wasn’t my favourite.Battered fish and chips was the top notch of all. The atmosphere is so good and there’s outdoor dining as well with a dj so got admirable voice with lovely choices of songs serenading us. I’ll come back again for sure whenever we’re in Tassie

Disappointing experience for coming here for a birthday celebration for lunch. Table of 5 and 3 dishes were a big let down. Halloumi burgers on g/f bread were foul. No flavour or substance, very dry and just taste really bad. The Halloumi was not grilled or only the slightest bit that made no difference to the taste. The fries were gross, tastes cheap, very greasy as if they were old and put into deep frier a second time. The fish tastes old and definitely not fresh. Also was charged extra when asked for a sides of aioli for the fries- just put it with the dish it’s not like I didn’t pay for it in the high price and low value food! We voiced our complaints and disappointment over the food. The manager/chef came out and apologised but was also defending the food and did not offer any compensation apart from one desert but it was ill fitting considering we had a birthday cake for someone at the table which was known to them. I’m so tired of such low standards of food at restaurants in Hobart, unfortunately this place is just another let down to add to the list

The service was poor – we had to approach the waiter multiple times ourselves as we couldn’t get their attention. The Brown Sugar Braised Pork Cutlet was genuinely delicious.

Nate's Family Restaurant

Temporarily Closed
$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Nestled within a charming caravan park, Nate's Family Restaurant may not catch your eye at first glance, but it certainly delivers an unexpected culinary delight. The ambiance is relaxed and unpretentious, with simple decor that sets the stage for a cozy dining experience. While the menu might be somewhat limited, the quality of the dishes truly shines—offering everything from delicious pizzas to perfectly cooked steaks and mouthwatering pasta.
5 star steaks with 6 stars service! We were staying at the caravan park and had not booked a table. The restaurant was very busy and we were told they were booked out. Feeling a bit disappointed and also a bit silly for not booking we sat at the bar to have a drink and think about our options. The owner came out of the kitchen and said he could squeeze us in which was really amazing as we could see how busy they were. The food was real quality. The steak was cooked exactly how we asked for it and was easily one the best we have had anywhere. Dessert was another winner with brownie and creme brûlée. Both amazing. Thanks guys for the great meal and awesome service. Your passion for what you do really shows.

The kids and us love this restaurant, friendly environment for kids and Nate is always there with a welcoming smile to greet us and have a chat. The food is always consistent and the steaks are cooked to perfection! I recommend the eye fillet or the grilled chicken breast. Sometimes the meals take a little while to come out but we know that is only because every detail is being expertly checked over, meals never disappoint once they arrive!!!

Situated within a caravan park I had no great expectations. Upon entering the restaurant the atmosphere is pretty low key with very plain decor and no windows. The service was outstanding but the greatest surprise was the food, it would rival many top end establishments. The menu was a little limited but more than compensated for by the quality of the food. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. All up it was a most pleasant surprise at a very reasonable price. Plenty of parking also. Well positioned for a meal before heading to the airport maybe.

Absolutely loved, will be our go to place now for sure. Tonight we went for my son's 18 and wow the food was amazing, staff was just wonderful and really looked after us nothing was a bother to them and a really nice atmosphere. Really happy we found Nate's, felt terrible for not leaving a tip as I didn't have any cash on me but I will definitely make up for it next time.

What a great family restaurant !!! Delicious pizzas, great steaks cooked perfectly and yum pasta ! We recently had a ‘ Christmas 🎄 in July’ party in the function room. The owners Nate and Jade were very accommodating and let us go all out with the decorations as long as we took them all down again on leaving. I highly recommend Nate’s for ‘private dos’ as well as dining in the main restaurant. Great food 🥘, great friendly staff and wonderful cosy venue in a central location. Martina 🎈

Was expecting a great experience after all of the great reviews on here, but I would not recommend coming to this place. The atmosphere is dark and there are no windows, and after being seated we Waited 30 mins to get our drink and food order. I ordered fish which was average and my wife ordered margarita pizza which was burnt and honestly could have been out of a box.

Driftwood Restaurant

Modern Australian restaurant
Event venue
My first visit to Driftwood Restaurant was a delightful experience. The cuisine offered an array of delectable flavors, with fresh and carefully selected ingredients. The staff members were professional and punctual, exceeding expectations in accommodating my dietary requirements. The venue itself was impressive, situated in a fantastic location. I highly recommend Driftwood Restaurant for a splendid dinner experience. While the portion size of the potato sides could be improved slightly, it wasn't a significant issue.
5-Star service for a 5- Star Menu. Every dish was beautifully crafted and presented, in a harmony of colours and flavour combinations. I really liked the meat paired with red onion and beetroot. Very delicate were the potatoes and the carrots. The coat cheesecake with blueberries was a delicious conclusion to a beautiful dinner. The service was impeccable. Highly recommended.

Brilliant restaurant in an unexpected location. Great food and drinks. Asked for a gimlet which was not on the drinks list and got it perfectly made. Shaken too, as was evident by the shards of ice floating on the surface. Also had the Whisky Ginger Snap which had the right blend of ginger. Food was great as well. Service from Oliver was fantastic. Can’t recommend it more!

Last weekend, I finally visited Driftwood Restaurant — a place that had been on my "must-visit" list ever since I moved to Tasmania. It's one of those places that stays in the back of your mind for years, waiting for the right moment. And this weekend, that moment arrived. Set in a stunning coastal location, Driftwood is the perfect spot for a relaxing, romantic lunch. We chose a table with a beautiful view, ordered a glass of sparkling white wine, and let the calm of the setting sink in. To start, I chose the polenta, and it was absolutely divine. It wasn’t fried, but gently cooked to a creamy texture, made with cheese and served in two generous slices. Accompanied by perfectly roasted pumpkin, it came beautifully presented — the kind of dish that makes you pause and smile before taking the first bite. It was comforting, flavourful, and felt like something made with heart

Really lovely casual restaurant. We had a late booking and arrived about 40 minutes early on Christmas Eve. They welcomed us and showed us to a great table. We are light eaters and shared two vegetarian dishes being the risotto and cauliflower sukkah. The wine list has good Tasmanian wines at reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly. We’ll come back because I loved it and wouldn’t mind trying the desserts. They looked fab as they left the kitchen. Another year has rolled past and due to Christmas holidays, I had time to visit again. Once again, lovely food. I love the selection of smaller plates. We had fried zucchini flowers, beetroot, chips and tomato tart. The latter was not completely successful. In my opinion, raw tomatoes are not compatible with pastry. As one tried to cut into it, tomatoes bounce about the plate/table!! Roasted caramelized tomatoes would be better. Will pop in again early in new year. Staff are helpful.

Went on a Tuesday night and we had the whole place to ourselves! Although very surprised that it was so empty. The place is elegant inside although minimalistic. The best thing was to sit near the glass wall facing the river, where you can see the ducks swim peacefully. Just a really great setting. Had their vegetarian pasta which was the best vegetarian dish I ever had! It was very flavoursome. I tried my husband’s salmon pasta, and it wasnt as great as the vegetarian one so kudos for them to nail vegetarian dish! I love the shallots and mushrooms, I still dream of this dish to this day!

Abundance on the Quay

Cafe
Abundance on the Quay is a popular brunch spot that has garnered praise over the years. The restaurant offers top-notch meals and their bacon is particularly outstanding. Although there may be occasional delays in service, it is well worth the wait for perfectly crispy bacon. The friendly staff provides excellent service and the food is of high quality and delicious. With reasonable prices and tasty coffee, it's no wonder that customers are eager to return to Abundance on the Quay.
We stopped into this little spot today and were really impressed. The food was great — you could tell they use quality, local produce. The atmosphere felt relaxed and cosy, and the staff were super friendly without being over the top. Definitely somewhere we’d come back to.

Very aesthetic little cafe. Service was a bit slow but it was a busy Saturday and they were very friendly. The halloumi was SO YUMMY and salty! I loved it. I don’t know why a brownie is $8 but I still bought it and really enjoyed it haha. I like that they don’t cram too many tables inside.

The vibe at this cafe is fantastic, enhanced by its charming location near a pier. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, all of high quality. The corn and zucchini waffle was particularly impressive, and the mocha’s presentation was visually stunning. Our group of seven enjoyed a delightful breakfast here on our first morning in Tasmania, leaving us with a wonderful impression of the place. Highly recommend!

Came in for breakfast one morning by and was seated and coffee orders taken straight away which was nice. Nice cosy environment with plenty of plants to make the place feel fresh. Food orders were taken and our meals came out quickly. The bacon was some of the best I have had, sourced from a local producer. The eggs also delicious, no doubt from a happy local hen. Great environment and friendly staff.

Tucked away gem. The food was lovely- the veggie waffles are a must try! Lovely atmosphere with great service and don’t get me started with the interior design. The food and coffee was very scrumptious and the place had a lovely view of the water! Thanks guys, lovely last spot to visit before catching our flight back to Syd 🌞

The corn and zucchini waffle was the perfect combo of crunch, chili sauce flavoring on the salad and the avocado gave it that creamy goodness! I could eat this everyday. The savory waffle had an amazing combo flavor of bacon and banana. It really worked and was very tasty. Everyone needs to try this place out. Yummmmmy!!! The staff are wonderful.

Single terminal airport for international and domestic routes and specialist flights to Antarctica.
First time at Hobart International Airport and I had a great experience. The place has good vibes — small, cosy, and easy to navigate. Everything felt relaxed and welcoming. A nice change from the usual hectic airport scene.
Niki P — Google review
A good domestic airport. It is very small but has some shops and comfortable waiting areas. There is some development happening outside the airport but this didn’t seem to affect the experience. The design of the space is pleasing but the sculpture shown of some native animals on a luggage trolley is great. A good experience over all.

Much improved experience here , rental cars are the easiest to pick up and drop off now, still alot of building underway though. Also security and customs is very good, but when we were there a small child got their finger caught in the customs baggage scanner rollers so beware of those when going through customs if you have small children.

Probably the tiniest airport in all of Australia – you can see the entrance from the exit in one glance! Love the local animal sculptures inside, they’re full of character. Can’t help snapping a photo every time I’m here. The only reason I didn’t give five star is the lack of a McDonald, my travel time craving satisfaction provider.

Hobart Domestic Airport is one of the smallest airports in Australia—cozy and compact. There are only a handful of food options and a few gift shops. My flight was delayed, so it got a bit crowded. The highlight, though, was the adorable animal sculptures carrying suitcases—definitely the cutest part of the airport!

New developments including the updated security and expanded terminal is dramatically improving the experience. Excited to see it all finished in a couple years!

It's under construction at this moment..very small cosy airport with all basic facilities and food options. I have bad experience with jetstar though who is ripping off clients and the staff is rude and unhelpful. I loved hobert and overall tasmania ..enjoyed holidays..

Enjoy the ease of travel at the airport. The process is very easy. Unfortunately the service at the bar was very unfriendly and we felt like a nuisance when we ordered 3 drinks. The ginger beer on tap was flat as was my husband's beer. We were not offered ice in our drinks. For the over inflated price I would expect good service and decent drinks!!
