The Olive

Restaurant
The Olive Cafe is a popular spot on Norfolk Island, known for its inviting aroma of sizzling bacon and freshly brewed Campos Coffee. Open from early morning to mid-afternoon, this bustling cafe offers a budget-friendly menu displayed on a blackboard. While it attracts both locals and visitors, it's often dominated by tourists due to its high-quality food and beverages served by friendly staff. The cafe is especially praised for its breakfast options, including delectable scones and hot coffee.
We had breakfast and coffee, plus morning tea 3 times while on Norfolk. If you ask the can do a gf df corn fritter. I found the coffee a bit weak but perfect with an extra shot in the mug.
Rob P — Google review
Lovely little cafe in the centre of town. They have your standard brekky options (the relish with the scrambled eggs was so good) and a nice selection of toasties for lunch.
Aden — Google review
Great cafe on Norfolk. The only thing they need to do is let google know they’re not open on Wednesday’s. I’ve been over twice recently and found it closed. But the food and coffee is very nice. Will be back next visit.
Dom D — Google review
Recommended by our host. Coffee smooth and full flavoured. I had pancakes for breakfast, light fluffy and the local bananas on top exceptional.
Colin B — Google review
This would be the go-to Café in town! A modern take on the historical township of Burnt Pine shopping precinct of Norfolk Island. Great vibe, tasteful and in-theme decor, good, quick and effective service (tell them your table number when ordering). Most food up-to-spec (toast (sour-dough bread) on the Avo Smash not really toasted and I felt this would have enhanced the dish), coconut slice and bit dry (may have been on display a little long), however the Poppy Cake was moist and and delicious. Wraps were tasty and coffee’s good, considering all using UHT milks (no fresh milk available on the island) Free WiFi - Tick Easy to Park - Tick Plenty of and a variety of seating options - Tick Self-serve Water, Cutlery & Serviettes - Tick If you’re visiting (or a local - but they would already know this) - well worth the visit (and re-visit). Highly recommended.

The Olive was my go to for breakfast and coffee whilst on the island. Friendly service and plenty of options on the menu. The scones were a particular favourite as well as the delicious, hot coffee.
David M — Google review
It's a lovely spot for a bite to eat. Especially breakfast. Serving sizes are good. Lovely food, great coffee, and friendly staff
Dena D — Google review
Very satisfied with the coffee and the service! Meals are good. Sweets are fresh and balked daily. Staff are very friendly. Could not resists to not come back every day for coffee! Just one feedback: poached eggs need to be a little bit runny rather than being hard boiled

Nestled on the picturesque Norfolk Island, Hilli Restaurant & Cafe offers a delightful dining experience that perfectly embodies the island's laid-back vibe. The name "Hilli," derived from the local dialect meaning relaxed or lazy, invites diners to unwind and savor their meals at leisure. Open throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, this charming eatery encourages guests to linger over their delicious offerings.
We had the best dinner experience that outdone our expectations. We’ve enjoyed every bite of food we had, everything is so delicious! We loved the most seafood crepe, steak, fish and the desserts.
Lana F — Google review
Lucky enough to have lunch in this beautiful setting. Sat outside under shade enjoying the beautiful cool breeze and awesome service by Steph. Mum had the seafood crepe and I had the Crispy Chicken salad…both were absolutely delicious and generous serves. Drinks were also very tasty and beautifully presented.
Kelly F — Google review
Loved the food here. Seafood crepe was delicious and lemon tart wonderful. The three of us really enjoyed our long lunch here.
Jo-Anne L — Google review
On our last night in Norfolk Island, we had dinner at a very nice restaurant, Hilli. We started with nice cocktails before dinner. The young ladies who looked after our table were very good and the food quite exquisite. For entree: Quatro Fromage Soufflé Gourmet, Pâté de Canard. For main: Tender Beef Eye Filet wrapped in smoky bacon, Slowly roasted pork belly. Our hostess was quite helpful and always smiling. Good way to end the holidays
Lindsay ( — Google review
What a gorgeous little spot! I enjoyed a weekend lunch here and polished it down with a couple of glasses of champagne. Charming venue with friendly service. The salt and pepper squid was melt in the mouth. Sirloin a little over cooked but I ordered it rare so still came out as a medium. Loved it especially the sticky date pudding which was drowning in caramel sauce
David M — Google review
This place is excellent. Great setting with nice outdoor seating and lovely service. Both the owner and Joyce (?) went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Lovely dishes and big portions. Went twice during our stay on the island.
Hans M — Google review
First time at Hilli’s, and YOU have to go! It’s a fantastic spot with amazing food. The pork is to die for. IT WAS FIRE!! The service was outstanding, and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an incredible experience.
Herllyn S — Google review
Great service. Good price. I had the pan fried Trumpeter . It was excellent. I'm here for a week and will definitely eat here again. Probably dinner tonight

Bailey's Restaurant

Mentioned on
4 lists
Restaurant
Nestled within the charming Governors Lodge Resort, Bailey's Restaurant stands as a culinary gem that beautifully marries history with modern dining. Under the stewardship of Mat Christian-Bailey, a descendant of Fletcher Christian from the infamous mutiny on the Bounty, this restaurant has undergone an impressive transformation during the 2020 lockdown. With six talented chefs at the helm, Bailey's menu now highlights Norfolk Island’s local meats and seafood alongside fresh island-grown vegetables.
Bailey’s Restaurant is an absolute gem in Burnt Pine! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with warm smiles and an inviting ambiance. The interior is beautifully decorated, balancing modern elegance with cozy charm, making you feel right at home. The menu is a culinary delight, offering a diverse range of dishes that cater to every palate. The seafood is particularly outstanding, with the freshness that only a location like Norfolk Island can provide. I highly recommend the grilled barramundi—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Their vegetarian options are equally impressive and thoughtfully prepared. The service is impeccable. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They go above and beyond to ensure you have a memorable dining experience. Don't forget to try their homemade desserts! The chocolate lava cake is a decadent treat that is the perfect end to a fabulous meal. Bailey’s offers a dining experience that is both exquisite and heartwarming. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this restaurant is a must-visit.
Garry F — Google review
Fabulous food and staff, we started with cocktail happy hour celebrating my birthday. The waiters were fun and very helpful and even bought out my dessert decorated with happy birthday in chocolate sauce. The food was delicious. Great evening at Baileys Restaurant.
Diane M — Google review
We went to Bailey’s on our last night on the island. Having made a reservation we were seen straight to our table and our drinks and dinner order were taken quickly by the friendly wait staff. Unfortunately, an hour later we were still waiting for our dinner to arrive - which it did shortly after my husband pointed out how long we’d be waiting. Once it arrived though our meals were superb. My chicken breast was succulent, as was my husband’s lamb and the servings were generous, there was definitely no room for dessert! I would recommend Bailey’s just be prepared for a possible wait.
Golden G — Google review
Wish we had discovered this restaurant earlier in our holiday. The service and food was top class. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a night of delicious indulgence.
David B — Google review
We had no choice but to dine here late at night as everything else was closed — and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. After a long wait, we were served cold steak, something I’ve never experienced before. The restaurant offered a complimentary steak worth $52 to make up for it, but even that was cold. Service was inattentive, and we felt completely ignored. Despite the poor experience, we still paid $185.75 AUD and left unsatisfied. Definitely not worth the money or the time. I won’t be returning there for another dining experience.
S P — Google review
We went to Bailey’s restaurant a few time over the last week, we started at the bar which had happy hour for cocktails that were made to perfection. They even made a mocktail for our little man who absolutely loved it. The bar was well presented and looked beautiful as did the rest of the restaurant, then went to our table where we were given a complimentary amuse-bouche (palate cleanser) before our meal, this was a lovely surprise and very delicious. All our meals were delicious and of high-quality foods, the staff were super friendly and very attentive, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We highly recommend Baileys Restaurant to those who want great food and the best service, we recommend trying the home-made potato ricotta gnocchi for your entrée as this was one of our favourites. We can’t wait to come back to the Island and will definitely be dinning back at Baileys Restaurant
Brad D — Google review
This is a very special restaurant. It is a really lovely historic venue with lots of character, the service provided by their friendly staff was very professional and the food was superb. I would recommend a visit here while visiting NI. All the dishes we ordered were delicious, but the seared scallops were amazing!
Fran O — Google review
The best food I have ever had. Every meal was 5star . The staff amazing. The chef, I take my hat off to you and your staff. Thankyou for a wonderful dining experience everyday

The Homestead Restaurant

Mentioned on
3 lists
Western restaurant
The Homestead Restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its wood-fuelled Argentinian Perilla grill, which intensifies the flavors of seasonal produce, meat, and seafood. The restaurant is housed in a 1930s island home and embraces the farm-to-plate philosophy by sourcing ingredients from the local 100 Acre Farm and Norfolk's clean wild waters. Guests can enjoy dishes like lamb and creme brulee while appreciating the beautifully presented meals.
Always look to get a dinner booking for the homestead on my trips and once again this was a fantastic evening. The entree special, a hot smoked kingfish, was just divine... I could have happily had a larger portion for a main dish! The steak was fantastic as well. While I was sad that the liquorice ice cream sandwich dessert was sold out, the chocolate decadence was moreish! Fantastic cocktails and service.
Tank — Google review
Staying a week on Norfolk Island we decided to treat ourselves to a meal at The Homestead - and we were not disappointed. The food was sensational, my husband declaring it to be ‘the best lamb I have ever eaten’. The service was impeccable. Our young waitress was knowledgable about the menu, friendly and very helpful, even making sure we secured a loaf of the house speciality sour dough to take home with us. If you want a special dining experience on Norfolk, this is the place. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
Golden G — Google review
This was a standout on our trip to Norfolk Island. Service and food were exceptional. The hanger steak cooked over charcoal had the most amazing flavour. As did the duck pate (which was a special) beautifully paired with a sweet French white wine.
Matthew M — Google review
Great setting and great food. Order the degustation menu: the kingfish was an absolute highlight. Highly recommend.
Judy R — Google review
Tonight was special, not because of the occasion, but because of the experience. We don’t go out often and when we do we hope for great service, food that we want more of and an a place that makes you feel like you are someone. Homestead tonight met all of the above and more. To to waitstaff who made us feel welcome, the cocktails that were perfect, Kurt and the kitchen staff that delivered our beautiful meal, we can’t thank you enough. See you soon x x
Island H — Google review
A lovely location in a restored island homestead, surrounded by tropical gardens and magnificent old moreton bay figs. We were seated on the verandah. Service was friendly and attentive and the food excellent. I chose to have the kingfish on spiced rice which was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. Highly recommend that you book a dinner at The Homestead whilst visiting Norfolk Island, but book ahead as it can be busy.
Craig H — Google review
Our meal at Homestead restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip to Norfolk Island. The staff are friendly and provide excellent service. The food is spectacular and the wine of a high standard. We are very pleased that we included an evening at The Homestead in our holiday schedule. Thank you for a great dinner.
Laurelle A — Google review
We have just dined at The Homestead Restaurant tonight , and both my husband & I agreed that it would have to go down as "one"of the best , if not "the" best meal we've have had at any restaurant in our 35 yrs of marriage. To the chef , thankyou & keep up the great work . To the bar & wait staff , keep smiling & thankyou for a memorable evening .To the owner/s , be proud & appreciative of your staff & reward them for a job well done .

A Slice of Paradise at Golden Orb Cafe Nestled in the heart of Norfolk Island, Golden Orb Cafe is a true hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality. The service at Golden Orb Cafe is top-notch. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you feel right at home from start to finish. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy your meal, surrounded by nature’s beauty. Golden Orb Cafe is a must-visit spot on Norfolk Island and I’ve been twice already.
Jake S — Google review
Pleasant garden setting. Smallish sized fish burger and steak sandwich so not too big for a lunch. One of our party of three had the prawn carbonara which was also tasty. Good coffee and chai latte extra hot as requested. Quiet in the garden but a bit noisier inside.
Jo-Anne L — Google review
Lovely cafe at the end of the leafy arcade. Happy staff, very happy customers. Great coffee. Yummy range of cakes and muffins.
Kay B — Google review
A great little cafe in Burnt Pine. I had the eggs benedict & my wife had the breakfast burger both were delicious as was the coffee. The service was friendly & efficient & judging by the amount of customers at the cafe it was also extremely popular .
Neil — Google review
An amazing place to get breakfast, lunch or a cuppa & cake Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, you can eat inside or amongst the tree ferns. The toasted coconut bread is superb! 🙂🙂🙂
K C — Google review
Very accommodating to special requests, they have been making us delicous vegan creations all week. Best coffee too amd a beautiful setting among the trees. Love your work guys 💚

A little garden oasis, peaceful. Good size serves. Nice place to meet and chat. We didn't feel rushed.
Susan H — Google review
A big thank you to the staff at Golden orb for catering to our vegan needs. They ended up making us a delicious vegetable stir fry on sourdough bread with avocado. Also the soy chai latte and soy cap and babyccino were so good. The barista knows what they're doing, even offered help on finding other vegan options on the island.

Bounty Bar & Grill

Mentioned on
2 lists
Western restaurant
The Bounty Bar & Grill is a recent addition to the island's dining scene, offering a contemporary menu that highlights local meats and produce. The restaurant features a variety of share platters, with the surf and turf dish being particularly noteworthy for its juicy steak and crispy prawns. The establishment is known for its popular steak dinners, so it's advisable to make a reservation in advance.
Myself and my two travel companions dined for lunch at this excellent restaurant and bar. We decided to dine outside as the weather was a perfect summer day in Norfolk Island and well suited to sitting outdoors. I had great joy with my brioche beef burger and my companions went for a lighter toasty and hot sweet potato chips. To keep us extra cool, we had large iced coffees served which had the best cream I've ever tasted under large Norfolk pine trees. We were amused by the local wild chickens rummaging around and hoping to get the odd titbit of food which we obliged, they were very friendly. The waiting staff excelled in their job and were cheerful and happy and helped our selections. A+++
Mark R — Google review
We had dinner there last night. Simply fantastic. A lovely old house set in nice grounds tastefully renovated into a restaurant. Off street parking, inside and verandah seating. Being an old house it utilises various size rooms for various sized groups and tables which helps provide quieter more intimate spaces for those who may not want the chatter in the main dining room. Lots of light with the windows with the exception of a central room but that had its own 4 seat table and lounge area with windowed doors to close it off which would be a great place for a couples catch up. A tour group arrived on a bus after us so the main dining room had lots of chatter and laughter which gave the restaurant some good energy that we could enjoy from our two table 7 seat room that had a bay window with garden entrance view. The decor and furniture are warm, comfortable and welcoming. A lounge with fireplace is a nice space on a cold day. The service was friendly, attentive and welcoming but not intrusive. And coped very well as the restaurant filled. From entering to leaving the service was fantastic. Young staff but clearly well trained with a high service standard expected by the owners. The drink and food menus were very nice with plenty of great options. We both had the special of the day which was spot on as was the baked Brie entree. Dessert options were also very nice. We will go again before flying home. We both agreed that this was one of the best dining experiences that we’d had in a while anywhere. Highly recommended dining experience whilst on Norfolk Island. Thanks for a great evening. Ps……we went back for lunch the day we flew out. Lunch was another faultless meal with great service from Ernie. A great place close to the airport and better than sitting at the airport or a crowded cafe across the road from the airport.
Cameron C — Google review
Great little place. The food was ok but the service was excellent and very kind. A nice dinner

Elegant cosy retreat just off the main street. Excellent for a morning coffee cake or sumptuous dinner. Don't miss the visit when on the Island
GREG F — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We enjoyed a number of lovely lunches and dinners at The Bounty Bar and Grill. Our meals featured the barbecue chicken pizza with a sour cream topping, beef burger, and a mushroom crêpe that was on special during lunch- all beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The setting is wonderful, with the choice of sitting in the beautiful garden or the elegant dining room, both offering a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. A special mention to the Lucas , the young man from Brazil who served us - he was always friendly, attentive, and made our visit even more enjoyable. It’s easy to see why we kept coming back!
Chantelle — Google review
Friendly service. Very good food. Lovely friendly Labrador dog.

Seriously one of the best meals of my life. I visited with two family members for dinner and we were all blown away by the quality of our meals, as well as the friendly, attentive service and the beautiful setting. Just brilliant!
Rebecca B — Google review
My wife and I visited here for lunch when we were on Norfolk Island in May. The whole dining experience was sensational. The restaurant is set in a beautiful old house with various eating spaces including an undercover outdoor area. We chose to sit in the main dining area inside. The service was exceptional and the food was excellent. Prices were reasonable. We were so impressed that we will be having lunch here with our family when we visit in January for our 50th wedding anniversary.

What a place! A beautiful big outdoor area, very friendly staff, and delicious food. Great happy hour specials in the afternoon also. I've been several times and each time I've been greeted warmly, my drinks have been prepared well and quickly, and my food was high quality and out in no time. I especially recommended the steak sandwich, one of the best lunches I enjoyed on the island.

Called in for a late meal and were pleased to be greeted by friendly staff, cold beer and sensational food! We had grilled local fish and local fish tacos for mains, and both were fresh and really tasty. For dessert we had sticky date pudding and pavlova, also both great. Down to earth beer-garden style place with simple food done brilliantly, run by friendly staff. Thanks!!

While prices are a bit high and there might be a wait time, the tasty food and friendly staff make it worth the visit. Great pizza, even better some places in Melbourne. Although they can take a while to come out they're worth the wait. Great crust, and fresh ingredients. Very chilled atmosphere - we played cards outside on the table while we waited. And the Nutella Calzone is dangerously good - but perhaps don't have it too late in the evening as the sugar high might keep you up!!!
Amir A — Google review
The tastiest takeaway pizza I've had in a very long time. The dough was delicious. I had the BBQ meatlovers & the garlic cheese starter bread which was delicious. Prices a bit high. & a longish wait time (45mins) but a quick drive around the island whilst you wait is a solid idea. Highly recommend.

The most delicious pizzas we've had in a long time. A must try place on norfolk island 🇳🇫, for one of the best meals we had on the island. Staff were awesome and friendly and service was fairly quick.

We came across this little gem, tucked away from the main Street. A really wonderful place to have lunch, dinner or a cuppa inbetween. Lots of lunch meals to choose from, l can personally recommend the chorizo & chicken toasted wrap, really yummy! Well worth a visit, l would seriously suggest to management, to place a sandwich board, so others don't miss out on this fab little spot! 🙂🙂

I expected more. We waited about an hour for two $30 pizzas, which were small and not extraordinary. The non-stop drum-n-bass music made conversation difficult.

A very peaceful place; friendly people; lovely scenery; very interesting history; some great tours (but not all were); fish was magnificent; some excellent restaurants, if very pricey. A lovely ten days. Throughyl recommend esecually for anyoan who needs arest fromthe mad rush of life on the mainland. You just have to "slow down" as soon as you arrive. Oh yes the prices of alcohol (some anyway) at the main bottle shop are very cheap, lower even than airport duty free. Eventhough it's "part of Australia " (weeeel that's debatable !?), you are allowed to bring home duty free. Highly recormmend a visit to this lovely Island.

Easy to get to and from ,friendly and helpful staff. It didn't take long to get to go through customs and onto your bus and going back was great as well , all you do is check luggage in and then go accross the road for coffee and something to eat while waiting. The last hour in international went quick as you have now made new friends to talk with while wating. Thumbs up.

It's a small airport with limited space, so don't mind it too much

Very small, quite antique and outdated, but that serves the purpose for small tourism rate. Even though small and crowded, quite beautiful waiting room and placed on a gorgeous location.
