(Translated by Google) 20250110 Yichang Museum Yangtze River Night Tour When I come to a city, I always like to visit museums and set off after having breakfast in the hotel. We arrived at the museum before ten o'clock and the sun came out😃. The museum is four stories tall. It is quite interesting to walk through the time tunnel from the Paleolithic Age to present-day Yichang City. There is an outdoor antique street on the fourth floor, which is great for checking in and taking pictures. At the end, there are trophies to add. Opposite is the Yichang Planning Exhibition Hall, so drop in and take a look. The sun is setting in the west. (Translated by Google) Every time you go to a place, you must go to a local museum to learn about history, geography and culture. Although the Yichang Museum is not big, the cultural relics and planning inside are still good and worth a visit. I was surprised that the materials from the Republic of China period were so well preserved and displayed and organized in such an orderly manner. Seeing the statue of the Founding Father reminds me of the photos and scenes from childhood to the Grand Commandery. There is a brief introduction on the wall next to the on-site antiquities. Compared with many museums, this is a museum with relatively complete information display and thoughtfully conveying the significance of the cultural relics. The overall feeling is pretty good, the environment is clean and tidy, there are not many people, there are clean restrooms, there are volunteers patrolling the museum, and it is free to visit. It is recommended that friends who visit Yichang take a look at the Yichang Museum. Local people will also take their children to learn about their own culture and history. It is a cultural city. Yichang Three Gorges Dam Tourist Area is home to the largest power plant in the world, boasting an installed capacity of 22,500 MW and 32 massive 700 MW turbines. The dam spans the Yangtze River and required the relocation of around 20 million people during its construction. Despite controversy, it stands as a modern wonder of mankind. Visitors can take electric carts for convenient transportation within the area.
This is the largest Power Plant in the world with an installed capacity of 22,500 MW. There are 32 number of 700 MW turbines. The Dam is constructed across Yangtze River and the total relocation was around 20 million. Everything about this power plant is enormous. This is a modern wonder of mankind. The water capacity and everything about this power plant is so huge. This has been rejected by many construction companies considering the impact it creates. But at last China could do it on their own. The ship transferring canal too is one of the man made wonders.
Akhila R — Google review
Impressive to see the world's largest dam. In my view there's no need to buy any of the short ship tours nearby. The entrance fee will shuttle you by bus from viewpoint to viewpoint. When I visited it was winter, so the smog/fog mix certainly obstructed the view. Nevertheless the project is very impressive and the viewpoints well-chosen and decorated.

This hydropower dam in the mainstem of the Yangtze river is a disaster for people and wildlife. It is altering the flow and the hydro morphology of the river, hence creating problems with water availability downstream. It has the potential to decrease the fish stock and creating environmental and water quality problems and the extinction of fish species and river dolphins.
Herman W — Google review
This dam was the only reason I came to Yichang, and I must say it was worth the trip. Despite the controversy surrounding its construction, the structure is doubtlessly a feat of engineering brilliance. There are almost no Western tourists visiting the dam, so if you decide to go here you'll most certainly be the first among your friends.

Crowne Plaza Yichang

Hotel
Nestled along the picturesque banks of the Yangtze River, Crowne Plaza Yichang is a luxurious retreat just a short drive from the vibrant city center. This hotel boasts four delightful dining options, including Nippon Restaurant, which serves authentic Japanese dishes with an impressive Teppanyaki counter. Families will appreciate its kid-friendly atmosphere and proximity to cultural experiences that make exploring Yichang enjoyable for all ages.
Excellent hotel, with good location and service, the rooms are spacious and comfortable! Breakfast is varied and delicious
Aniya — Google review
One of few choices of Western style hotels in Yichang. Staff is friendly and the hotel itself luxurious. Two minus points. Despite having a consierge desk nobody felt obligated to man that position. And the internet was surprisingly unreliable, and I mean the connection itself, not the usual censorship. Still, it's a good place to recharge your batteries.
Fabian B — Google review
Choices for western hotels are limited in Yichang so you'll likely just stay here. It's a good hotel for being in the middle of nowhere and the location is great. It's along the river and right next to a massive shopping center (make a right when you step outside). The shopping center has a McD, Burger King, KFC etc if this is the last leg of your trip and all you want is some cheese for the first time in weeks. Breakfast is ok and staff is friendly. Rooms are clean and you get fruit as an IHG member. Ridiculous amount of lobby decorations though. Who is it for? A+ for effort but damn..
Mike X — Google review
Good location facing the river and next to Wanda mall with a good IMAX cinema, HaiDiLao, Walmart etc. We were assigned to a room on a non smoking floor but it has a lingering scent of smoke. Managed to get a switch to another floor and have the windows opened. That helped. One of the staff named Jim was very helpful to make this happen. The other ladies behind the reception on the other hand were not. Seemed to be more interested in their computers, is it so difficult to lift their heads up when guests are standing in front of the reception? Overall, still a good experience - there are not many international hotels in Yichang.
Bill K — Google review
The best hotel in Yichang, the Crowne Plaza is exactly what you need if exploring the city, with a clean respite from the surrounding development of the Yangtze River. Highly recommended with a professional (and English speaking!) staff, if I ever pass through Yichang again, I would certainly stay at the Crowne Plaza...
Matthew J — Google review
Elegantly decorated with a grand reception lobby, with a view of the city. The room was quite large, comfortable bed and very clean. Excellent!

Fangweng Restaurant

Chinese restaurant
The Fangweng Restaurant receives a 5-star rating primarily due to its spectacular views and unique location, nestled on the side of a cliff. While the food itself is rated at around 4 stars, the experience of dining on the edge of a precipice while observing thrilling activities across the river is undeniably worth top marks. The range of activities available for entertainment includes bungee jumping, flying boats, sliding swings, and gliding chairs, all situated on the opposite cliff.
I gave this restaurant a 5 star because of the views and its location (built on the side of the cliff). I would say the food was probably a 4 star. But having a reasonably good meal on a cliff side restaurant while watching all the exciting activities across the river, off the other side of the cliff is worth a 5 star. What activities, well, there were many, such as bungee jumping, flying boats, sliding swing, gliding chair, all of the cliff across. One drawback was that one would be hearing screaming while eating :-). At least they all seemed like they were having such fun!
Tammy L — Google review
MOST EXTREME RESTAURANT LOCATIONS AROUND THE WORLD. 1. Fangweng Restaurant, China. Located in China's Hubei province, Fangweng restaurant looks as though it is clinging on to dear life on the side of a cliff. The restaurant is carved into a limestone cliff in the Happy Valley of the Xiling Gorge. After passing through the restaurant’s unassuming gray entrance, patrons walk along a precarious path leading to the dining area, set several hundred feet above the ground. Part of the dining area is set over the cliff, a few lucky diners can sit on the terrace and watch the Yangtze River flow by, hundreds of feet below. While other tables are located inside a natural cave. Low lighting and traditional furnishings give the dining area an intimate, mysterious ambiance. The menu is a blend of local specialties and dishes commonly offered throughout Hubei province. ✍🏽: CultureTrip 📸: Pinterest

This airport is new but it's not comfortable with many things because there are few shops to go shopping. Unfortunately it's closed too. Moreover there are flights delay frequently to make passengers bored so much. And I'm not appreciative about their toilets where there are no flush toilets like Beijing. OMG.
