Restaurante Bodega Charolais

Mentioned on

$$$$affordable
Spanish restaurant
Restaurante Bodega Charolais is a charming culinary gem located in Fuengirola, known for its refined Basque and Andalusian classics. The restaurant offers a cozy space lined with wine shelves as well as a delightful patio for outdoor dining. It is the only restaurant in town listed in the Michelin Guide, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. The large sun-trap terrace and cheerful staff add to the joyous atmosphere of this establishment.
The only thing I regret is that we found out just this year about Charolais! Amazing food, great wine list and a team that takes care of the guests in every way!! We went 2x this holiday and took a lot of the daily specials. From the regular menu the Russian salad is the best we had in Fuengirola. We will be back here more often for sure.

We came for my boyfriend’s birthday celebration but we were a bit disappointed. We came here because it was on the Michelin guide. The starters and the drinks were good but the main courses were a bit sad. I ordered the salmon and it was a bit dry and definitely needed something more. My bf ordered a steak and asked for it to be medium rare. First time it came out rare and when he asked to change it, they burnt it. If you go here, maybe don’t order the salmon or the steak. The staff were a bit rude too. I usually don’t give any restaurant 2 star but this one doesn’t deserve any more star. The couple sitting next to us also said they didn’t enjoy thier dinner!
Subhalakshmi D — Google review
We had dinner at Charolais with mixed results. The setting is pleasant and the staff were friendly, but the food was hit or miss. We started with a salad with burrata and the fried aubergines, both quite tasty. The Russian salad was just okay, nothing memorable. Unfortunately, the biggest letdown was the chicken pastela, which we couldn’t even eat. The flavor was unpleasant and completely threw off the meal. Overall, there were some enjoyable bites, but considering the reputation and price point, it fell short of expectations. Worth a visit if you’re curious, but we likely won’t return.
Naomi S — Google review
Came here twice. The first experience was great. Definitely try the millefoies for starter, the salads are very good too. Meat is their speciality. The second time around I wanted to try other things, and I was a bit disappointed. Do not get the pasta: as an Italian I can say that's not pasta. The sauce was very liquid and extremely heavy. Overall good if you pick a quiet night and you know what to select from the menu, otherwise you might end up disappointed.
Lucrezia — Google review
Amazing food and services. Can highly recommend. Recommend booking a table in advance.
Linn A — Google review
Fabulous food. Well done everyone. Great experience
Sharon M — Google review
We came here in recommendation, I must say it was a pleasant surprise. As any nice restaurant they focus on a semi short menu narrow choices but that’s when you can deliver quality. There is something for everyone from meat to fish. The food was seasoned well and had amazing spectra of flavour. We tried a bit of everything. The service staff were attentive and very kind.
Edvin B — Google review
Amazing delicious food - great wine list and sommelier suggestion was mid range in price but matched food

Restaurante La Escollera

Seafood restaurant
Restaurante La Escollera is situated in the vibrant Estepona port and is renowned for its fresh seafood offerings. The restaurant boasts a prime location on the western Costa del Sol and prides itself on serving simply cooked, daily-delivered fish from its own boat. Despite being a popular spot, the venue offers excellent service with quick table turnover, ensuring minimal wait times.
Food delicious. You don’t have to choose fried dishes to enjoy what this restaurant has to offer. The natural, steamed or raw are amazing. The razor clan 1/2 racion was not enough so we had to order a second full one :). It’s busy & understandably so. So don’t expect fawning from the staff.
Suzanne B — Google review
Great place with amazing selection of seafood! 🍤 if you want to try different things this is the place to be. Make sure you are there for 20:00 or you book a table in advance as it gets busy. Menu has plenty of choices so take your time to review. You have similar options fried and grilled.. all amazing.
Kasia P — Google review
Amazing authentic sea food restaurant in estapona port,a simply amazing variety of every fish incredibly fresh and delicious. You can't book just turn up and queue so may have a 20 minute wait. Definitely worth visiting
Simon V — Google review
Authentic and delicious 👌🏽 Worth the waiting time. Ordered too much food but took in with us in a doggy bag, so had a delicious lunch today with the leftover from seabass, veggies and fries 😍
Rikke L — Google review
Food was superb. We arrived on a Saturday at 2pm which is their peak time. I don't recommend coming at this time. I didn't like the way we were welcomed, I asked how long we'd have to wait he just said "ni idea", also he didn't mention that we could have eaten cold dishes in the tall tables without having to wait 2 hours to get a table.
Alexander ( — Google review
An amazing night of seafood dishes, good company and amazing service. Highly recommend and will be returning soon.
Mark L — Google review
Went here because of the reviews but I don't understand..the food was just ok, overpriced, service was ok, the place just seemed dirty. The way they treated these poor lobsters...Alive and sitting on top of ice/dead fish just seemed weird and gross. Would definitely not go here again.
Carlos R — Google review
Delicious food, good service, just to long to wait without reservation.

Restaurante Skina

Mentioned on

Fine dining restaurant
Andalusian restaurant
Restaurante Skina is an upscale dining venue in Malaga, known for its creative tasting menus featuring seasonal Andalusian ingredients and an extensive wine list. The restaurant is part of the gastronomic capital of Malaga, which boasts more Michelin stars than any other city in Andalucia. Skina's cuisine pays tribute to the multicultural and vibrant gastronomic tradition of southern Spain, showcasing the closeness and seasonality of its ingredients.
I shared a truly unforgettable dining experience this evening at Restaurante Skina in Marbella, Spain, one that left us feeling inspired and energized. From the moment we walked in, every aspect of our visit was exceptional, with bold flavors, meticulous attention to detail, and outstanding service all coming together to create a truly exceptional experience. Thank you!
Becky A — Google review
We chose the chef’s tasting menu with the wine pairing. The opening non-alcoholic aperitif and snack in the separate wine room was a nice touch. Then we moved into the chef’s kitchen where you stand at an island and are presented with another set of appetizers. They were mushroom themed with plenty of shaved truffle varieties. Also a unique part of the experience as this happens before you are seated at your actual table. The courses and pairings are served at well timed intervals. Positives: filling meal, amuse bouche was 5 or 6 bites, dishes really intimated art and were delicious, wine pairing had a wide range of Spanish varietals. Cons: Upon being seated we told the server of a shrimp allergy and he repeated each 3 subsequent visits to the table that this should’ve been communicated prior; we understood this and said we could’ve gone the a la carte route if modifications could not be made. Instead the chefs were able to accommodate, but the server kept reiterating how we should’ve let them know - reinforcing a feeling of guilt. After the bread course and crumbs were quite literally all over the table, the restaurant did not remove these (despite having asked) until before the dessert course. Attentiveness seemed to taper off toward the end of the meal as the staff could be seen chatting amongst themselves. Overall the food was incredible, presentation was stunning, and it’s worth a visit.

*Intimate Fine Dining at Its Best* Our experience at this 2 Michelin star seafood restaurant was truly unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, we felt incredibly welcome and valued. What made our evening truly special was having the entire restaurant to ourselves, creating an intimate and exclusive atmosphere that allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the culinary journey. The highlight of the evening was witnessing the chefs at work, watching them skillfully prepare each dish with precision and care. This behind-the-scenes look added an extra layer of appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship that went into every bite. The seafood was exquisite, with each dish showcasing the chef's creativity and expertise. Every bite was a masterclass in flavors, textures, and presentation. The service was impeccable, with our every need attended to with warmth and professionalism. This dining experience was more than just a meal; it was a celebration of fine cuisine, impeccable service, and personalized attention. If you're looking for a special night out that feels like a private affair, look no further. We left feeling sated, impressed, and already planning our next visit.
Valeria B — Google review
This is overpriced and now focussed on extracting money from clients. It used to be in a different location and different vibe. There is no real al la carte so if you only want one course you still pay a minimum of 300 euros pp. They have a fake a la carte menu. I suspect this place will not last. Much better mitchelin star retaurants in Marbella. We travel globally so know good restaurants. We went to another Mitchelin star restaurant called “Back”, amazing food and customer service oriented. Highly recommended.

One of the best fine dining restaurants I’ve visited. Food is mind blowing, service is flawless, wine is impressive. I am thinking the will get the third *** very soon ❤️

An experience out of this world. Amazing staff. Amazing food. A beautiful location. I can only give them my best recommendation.

Had been to Skina a few times over the years but this was our first visit to the new location and the new Skina experience. If there would be a words that expresses superlatives better - I would use them. It was ‘amazing’ ‘creative’ ‘attentive’ ‘delicious’ - a true 3star experience!!! Congratulations Skina team! A wonderful evening and the flowers for the birthday girl was such a thoughtful gesture!

With a reputation for serving the best quality and variety of fresh fish along the Costa del Sol, it has become a must-visit destination for seafood enthusiasts. Amazing experience! Great food! The service is World Class! One of my best dinner experiences ever! The service matches three star quality. A must visit!

You get the freshest and widest range of seafood here, also a very attentive and friendly service. However, when you pay 50-60 euros for dinner, i would expect a better presentation, a bit more vibrant and appetising look. But unfortunately my dinner plate came with a sad looking lonely sole with no real marination other than salt, no dressings, or any souce 😕 . Same story with the octopus starter dish.
Prince T — Google review
Great food. Good service. Over priced. We ate in same dishes in top end restaurants in Malaga city for 40% less. If money isn't an issue go for it. Most of our bills on the trip were 250 to 280. This was 450. Same amount of food and wine.
Jared K — Google review
Agreed to be the top 50 restaurants. Anything to change? Nothing… 🌟 Top service and wine selected by the manager, It was a pleasant meal and very professional, fresh seafood (menu changes every day), they adapted some of the seafood based on our requests
Cecilie N — Google review
We had a wonderful evening with fresh local dishes and high end service. Never tried a sea urchin before, but it tasted lovely. The prices are a bit on the higher scale, but definitely worth it. Can only recommend this place.
Katja S — Google review
One of the best restaurant in my life! Everything was better than i hope!

So unassuming from the exterior but really excellent and exciting atmosphere inside !! Lively, buzzing and fun ambiance yet five star professionalism ! The menu is exciting and the food is fun and delicious. We enjoyed several bottles of this excellent Chardonnay too!
Angela S — Google review
This place nails the vibe – cozy, with friendly staff and a menu full of ocean delicacies. The only downside for this type of restaurant is that you have to remove the bones from the fish. Still worth a visit for seafood lovers, just watch out for those sneaky bones!

Messina Restaurante

Mentioned on

Fine dining restaurant
Messina Restaurante is a relatively new addition to the Michelin-starred scene, having earned its first star in 2016. The restaurant offers a comfortable and contemporary dining space where guests can enjoy innovative dishes and excellent service. Head Chef Mauricio Giovanni's culinary expertise combines Italian, French, and Spanish influences to create unique flavors and textures. Alongside his wife Pia, who serves as the Maitre-d, they have garnered acclaim for their exceptional service.
I did a small Michelin tour in Andalousia, this is the Michelin Star I tried the first day. Follow me for all the reviews on this, on others tours and on every Michelin stars in Paris and 3 stars in France. The chef has a lot to say. What’s interesting here? The chef is exploring in plenty of ways and directions. So you’ll be surprised and entertained. In hindsight, he is quite different from others in the region. And bonus points, there’s an interest for mixology. The dishes may differ at lot in the sequence (in intensity and style), so it’s not your regular ride. I can surprise the usual Michelin gastronome, as it makes a bit more difficult to read him. Also some side dishes were not up to par. The atmosphere was pleasant, the crowd international and the service agreeable. It’s great for a date or a friends dinner. Does deserve its star
MichelinStarsChallenge R — Google review
We had a great anniversary dinner at Messina! We got the shorter pescatarian menu and it was more than enough food. Highlight for me were the sourdough bread, scallop, and squid. Oh and their glorious home made chocolates at the end! Definitely save room for those and an espresso martini. Everything was lovely! The only slight improvement I may suggest is may be to offer more varieties of old world whites from Bourgogne, Alsace and loire. Thank you for taking care of us!
Karen C — Google review
The best dinning experience we had in Spain. Food was amazing and the environment was super cosy and warm. Thank you 🙏
Armen M — Google review
Reservation went smooth. The restaurant is tastefully decorated - modern style - and with good acoustics. We had had the small menu which was plenty of food for us. We also ordered the wine menu. The shrimp was our favorite. Very delicious. No doubt a lot of thinking had been put into the individual dishes but some nevertheless did not work for us, either taste or texture i.e. the squid. Wines are local which we appreciate. They were not highend but well matched with the food. Servings of wines were very small glasses. I went dry of wine twice during the meal which should not happen. The service was polite and correct all the way through but also a bit mechanical. We are used to and hoping for a more friendly and hospitality kind of style where you discuss the food and the wine along the way. The total bill for the experience was definitely reasonable.
Tommy H — Google review
I typically have a lot to say about my dining experiences, though I don’t have a whole lot to say about my experience at Messina Restaurante. I chose the Menu Messina for dinner. I usually mention a “standout” dish, though no dish in particular stood out to me. The presentation was very nice but the food and the service were just okay. Personally, I wouldn’t rate this experience very high on my list of fine dining experiences. For the price tag, and in comparison to the other Michelin star restaurants I’ve reviewed, the value isn’t quite as high. Though I left relatively underwhelmed, it was not a bad experience overall and I would be happy to give it another try if some improvements are made.
Nicholas M — Google review
Lovely experience from start to finish. We did the 14 course tasting menu which was reasonably priced for what we got. Each meal had a beautiful presentation and unique flavors. Service was very welcoming and helpful as well. Parking can be validating for 2 hours at hotel next door
Zach S — Google review
Excellent Michelin restaurant with an eye for the details. Best shrimps ever, beautiful lamb and spanish/local wine menu with great knowledge behind the wine paring. Try the big Messina menu. There are a couple surprises you wont find anywhere else. The only thing I will point out is I expected more of the desserts. It was good but not for a restaurant in this level. But the fantastic homemade chocolates with the coffee was an really good final of this evening.
K L — Google review
The food was lovely, worth their star, however they didn't handle any kind of changes very well, meat was replaced with vegetables when fish was an option which is a pet peeve. They also served several dishes with chili as garnish after being told that someone of our party couldn't take the heat, we had specified that chili was okay in prep work was but it was litterally placed on top of two dishes. I think the food is worth the five stars.

Fine dining restaurant
Sollo, located in Fuengirola and boasting a Michelin star, offers a charming dining experience with an open kitchen and stunning views of the Mediterranean. Chef Diego Gallegos is dedicated to creating modern and delicate dishes with a sustainable approach, incorporating South American influences. The restaurant's commitment to sustainability is evident through its use of an aquaponic pond to farm fish, providing them with a variety of sea plants for their well-being.
Clean, fresh flavours in a beautiful setting. No show ponies, just quality, sustainably sourced produce and beautiful cooking that is elegant and delicious. Each dish beautifully presented and introduced by a member of the kitchen team. The service from the front of house team was also impeccable. This menu won’t leave you feeling over-full and overwhelmed like other tasting menus can. Perfectly balanced. Loved every bite.

We went to dine two weeks ago. Overall I appreciate the service, attentive act of the staff, good prep I would say. However… the food doesn’t stay in my memory, I can’t tell any dish is strike out and give me impression. So I would say generally I would say 4 stars, but somehow the taste of the dish doesn’t register in my memory. It could be just personal experience. Staff did good job.
Helen H — Google review
Visited with my wife for the tasting menu (€170pp) and we were very impressed. Food was amazing, atmosphere and service were great and it was fun to be able to see into the kitchen where the team were busy preparing the dishes. Would certainly recommend!
Chris T — Google review
Quality you expect from Michelin starred restaurant. Extra points goes to innovative use of fish and roe across the menu, certainly different and something to remember ! Only neg point on chairs that look elegant but are not very comfortable to sit
Heikki K — Google review
Went to the Sollo last year with three colleagues and everybody was impressed right from the beginning. The atmosphere is very calm and quiet because the restaurant only has a few tables and the service was exceptional right away. We ordered the tasting menu and were stunned by the creative presentation and taste of each individual dish (mostly fish). Definitely a place I highly recommend when you‘re a foodie and don‘t mind spending +150€ for an exceptional dinner experience.
Patrick B — Google review
Similar to others, the visit left us a bit underwhelmed. The food was good and varied, but there was nothing outstanding in either the ingredients or the tastes. There was what we felt was an over reliance on grandiose effects, like lots of caviar and Dom Perignon champagne. But no overall concept to tie it together. The wine pairing consisted of good wines, but again nothing outstanding or unusual. On the positive side, service was friendly and there was no issue accommodating my wife's pescetarian preferences. All in all we have had better, including in Michelin star restaurants in the region.
Ingo ( — Google review
Amazing 🤩 Top class Michelin restaurant with very good value for money, both the food and the wine pairings
Lasse R — Google review
Good but, tbh, not that spectacular for a Michelin star restaurant. The greatest strength of that restaurant is, in my mind, it's sustainable approach to supplying and serving food as it uses an aquaponic pond/tank to farm fishes, providing them with a great variety of sea plants to keep them healthy. That is a wonderful endeavour. The other positive sides were that (a) it was easy to get a booking, (b) no problem to park in the hotel, (c) the service is well coordinated, (d) the originality of the dishes (e) the presentation of the dishes is very good, and (f) the chef was Very careful at adapting for my food intolerances. We liked 3 out of 5 appetizers, 3 out of 3 starters, and 2 out of 3 mains. Out of the 3 mains, the Trucha was very strong in taste and the beautiful decoration made of dry green beans and the sauce were not enough to compensate. On the other hand, the sturgeon with foie gras, with this brown sauce of tuber (root vegetable) was excellent. The dish even felt meaty. The appetisers that we didn't like was the taco of sea weed and carp..far too strong in taste for our liking. The macaroon of barbel was ok but borderline for our taste. The Michelin Estrella, made of cucumber and, I believe, sea weed, was fresh not nothing too interesting. On the more negative sides: (a) the restaurant is small (which is ok) but does not have either a relaxing nor posh/elegant style, (b) the waiters were very relaxed... too relaxed... (c) there is not a good selection of wine by the glass, (d) the wine bottle we got served was warm, to the point it destroyed the taste of the wine. We complained that we didn't like it and that it was warm. They offered to put it in an ice bucket and that's it. We did that which improved the taste of the wine. Later on I had to get it out of the bucket as it was then getting too cold. (e) the restaurant/hotel location is isolated (which could be a strength) but does not yield the benefits in terms of space nor freedom of movement to the customers (f) it has no special view, just of the new house developments on the over side of the colines (f) the restaurant only offers fishes and sea food which is its particularity but also a weakness as it does not account for a variety of tastes. May be my thinking got biased by the incredible experience we had the night before at the restaurant "Le Moi" but even if I compare to other Michelin Star restaurants we have been in Spain, UK, Ireland, France and other top restaurants like Central in Lima, Peru... Me and my wife felt like we would not repeat.

Restaurant
Lobito de Mar Marbella is a trendy and multi-room restaurant known for its Andalusian seafood, rice dishes, tapas, and cocktails. It's the brainchild of Dani Garcia, a renowned Michelin-star chef celebrated for his culinary creativity. The restaurant offers a modern Italian dining experience infused with fresh ingredients and passion.
My husband and I found this wee gem because the Asador was closed and we kept walking… what a stroke of luck! Half way through our meal we said, “this has to be a 5 star by everyone!!”, it is INCREDIBLE! Service and food is 10/10! We loved it so much we’re going back tomorrow as it’s our last day! This is the best we’ve been to in Marbella in years. Love it! A must for anyone who appreciates good food :)
Dawn A — Google review
Lobito de Mar was good. The anchovies with charcoal butter were salty and smoky with a soft texture. The tuna carpaccio was very thin and fresh. It was made from the best parts of the tuna and you can really tell. The octopus noodles with black ink had a strong rich taste and looked cool too. The hippo ice cream dessert was fun and tasted like something from childhood. This is the second restaurant we try by chef Dani Garcia and he didn’t disappoint. Big salute to the chef.

Stunning restaurant! Very classy and well decorated. At the entrance a beautiful setting for the perfect pic! Service was truly brilliant, everything was well explained and always someone coming to check if everything was okay. We had and fried aubergine that’s was beautiful and what was like oysters and my hub said was good. Creamy rice was very very tasty, truly delicious but disappointing it didn’t came with much seafood as you can see in the pic. So my overall is 4⭐️ for not much seafood in the dish and also not really children friendly because it doesn’t have any kids meal in the menu. Many families around and having to pay for a full meal for a 6 year old in a nice restaurant definitely discourages a bit.
Mirela K — Google review
Overall we had a really good night and enjoyed our dinner, we would come back, we notice a difference of level between the quality and level of thought put in each dishes, we also would like to see the portion size increased for the price tag.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend who explained the story of Dani Garcia. Honestly I think it was one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve been to. The raw sweet shrimp, the shrimp carpaccio, the tuna carpaccio, the guacamole 🥑 with fried white shrimp 🍤 , everything was just excellent. A must for any seafood lover

A wonderful atmosphere, beautiful décor, friendly and polite staff, fast service, and delicious foods. It was the perfect choice for our wedding anniversary. We loved it and will definitely come again.♥️♥️
SEBNEM M — Google review
This was one of the worst disappointments in a restaurant I had in a long time. While some of the staff were very nice, our waitress was completely incompetent, ruining the entire experience. Most annoyingly, we ordered a lobster, which, without any additional order, is just served "plain", that is grilled with nothing else at all. We therefore ordered some Beurre Blanc together with the lobster, as it was the only thing they had on the menu that you could consider going along reasonably well. Well, the lobster arrived, the Beurre Blanc did not. After asking two more times, it finally arrived, at that point we had already decided to rather eat the lobster warm, than with some sauce. The overall experience of the lobster was comparable to what you get at a restaurant in Essaouira in Marocco. Grilled, slightly charred, that's it. Total waste of time and money. Same with ketchup for the fries of our son, asked 4 times, arrived after they were cold. High chair for the baby, yes sir, 15 minutes later, still nothing. Complementary soup as a starter, no spoons. Oysters with Mignonette, also no spoon. For the lobster, no utilities for eating it, not even a wet towel for the hands. No salt, no pepper during the entire lunch. Except for the side dish of vegetables, everything else was badly prepared as well. Overall this is just some wannabee gastronomy, trying to appear fancy through high prices. This was not only a waste of money, but also of a perfectly nice Sunday lunch, which would have been more enjoyable pretty much anywhere else.
Patrick M — Google review
We had a delicious lunch there and would definitely go back to try more dishes! We ordered an omelet and a seafood rice to share. Great portion sizes and flavors. We also wanted to order the guac but it was too much food for us already. May be next time!

Seafood restaurant
Casa Juan Los Mellizos is a popular restaurant located in La Carihuela, Malaga. It's an ideal spot for dining with friends, family, or business associates. The restaurant can accommodate over 170 guests and features a spacious terrace, VIP room, and private meeting room. Known for its fresh seafood offerings like deep-fried fish and various rice dishes including lobster rice and black rice flavored with squid ink, it's a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
We were given a recommendation from the hotel staff we were staying in to visit this restaurant if we wanted to have a good seafood paella. And they didn’t disappoint us. The paella was very good . I also saw them serving grilled fish that looked pretty good. So we decided to come back the next day for dinner to get fried anchovies and grilled fish and they were amazing. They had live music the next day we went to and the crowd was cheering. Surprisingly it was a Wednesday night not a weekend but it was so much fun. The first time we went they had enough customers but you could empty tables so we were not worried that we might not find a table since we did not make reservations ahead of time. The next day the restaurant was packed and honestly I was worried that they wouldn’t be able to accommodate us since also we went without reservation. But the staff was very nice and was able to get us a table for 2. It was a great meal to end our vacation before heading home.
Fida J — Google review
The fried mix was quite good, but unfortunately the two burgers were terrible – they had a strange taste and even the kids refused to eat them. Service was disappointing: during our meal no waiters came to check on us, and each time we wanted a drink we had to walk to the reception to ask for it. When we decided to take the leftovers home, the waiter simply brought a box to the table and we had to pack the food ourselves – something I’ve never experienced in a restaurant before. It also took 20 minutes just to pay the bill. Overall, it wasn’t worth the hassle of going there. There are plenty of other seafood places nearby with much better service and atmosphere.

What can I say? The food here was absolutely delicious! I tried the paella once and was so blown away by the flavor that I had to come back and order it again before leaving. The open-air setting of the restaurant adds such a lovely touch, and the service was impressively fast. Overall, a truly delightful experience from start to finish.

Had a lovely meal here b and will return on My next visit. Excellent service, fabulous food and a lovely atmospheric part of town. We had the mixed salad, pil pil prawns and mixed paella. So fresh and tasty. You won’t be disappointed!

Very good restaurant with several dining areas, including a nice terrace perfect for enjoying the sea breeze. The menu offers a large variety of meals, mainly focused on fresh fish and seafood. There are only a few vegetarian options, but the dishes are generally tasty and well prepared. I highly recommend trying the boquerones al limón, they were excellent. Service was okay, but the staff didn’t seem particularly friendly. The waiter who served us was quite rude and looked like he didn’t enjoy his job. Overall, the food quality is very good, but the service definitely needs improvement to match the restaurant’s reputation. Enjoy 😎

One of the best restaurants in Málaga! The food is absolutely delicious, especially the fresh seafood. The location is beautiful, the place is cozy, and the service is outstanding with genuine hospitality.

A nice local restaurant. Food were very good. Unfortunately I think they forgot my fried fish and that dish took at least 30 minutes to come

Always a pleasure to have lunch at Casa Juan Los Mellizos when we are in Torremolinos. The food is always good (the fideua is amazing), the staff very professional and the place is clean. Special thanks to Sofiane and Jessy for their big smile and kindness every time we come.

Restaurante El Lago Marbella

Spanish restaurant
Restaurante El Lago Marbella is a Michelin-starred gem located in the picturesque Greenlife golf course in Elviria. The restaurant offers a stunning backdrop of the Elvira Hills and a serene lake, making it an ideal setting for a memorable dining experience. Known for its innovative and creative dishes, this establishment has contributed significantly to the culinary scene of Costa del Sol.
El Lago has a fantastic and tranquil location by a lake and a golf course. The entire dining experience was decent with a variety of a la carte dishes to choose from. The dry aged entrecôte was my favorite dish and I had it accompanied by some mashed potatoes. Both were incredible and definitely worth the visit. While the atmosphere was peaceful, it was a bit too quiet and awkward at times, since there were no other visitors besides my table during my visit. That said, I suggest booking at a later hour when most of the other visitors start to arrive.

We had a very enjoyable meal here this week for our holiday treat. We knew the restaurant had held a Michelin star so it wasn’t going to be cheap. The choices, while limited for all courses, turned out to be excellent as between the 5 of us we tried most of what was on the menu. The menu is beef oriented so be prepared for that. The service was excellent and very attentive and helpful. The only downside was that it was very quiet for a Saturday night which was a shame as the food and staff deserve better.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and had an amazing experience. The food was incredible. The service was exceptional. Sitting outside overlooking the lagoon, was so peaceful. A must visit when you're in Marbella.

A great experience at El Lago! Friendly and attentive staff, delicious meals. We chose this restaurant for our Valentine’s Day dinner and we were pleased. Great atmosphere, the place had a buzz yet we felt private at our table. We went for a la carte menu, chose the burrata, goat shoulder as goat is typical at the area and the red tuna. Loved the recommended wine too. We only wished we had space left for dessert but we were too full.

What an experience. We came to El Lago now knowing what to expect. We were blown away by the chef‘s creations. We chose the vegetarian menu which is stunning and apparently the only one in Andalusia. All products seem to be sourced locally which is fantastic. The staff are proud of what they serve and rightfully so.

We enjoyed our evening and the tasting menu was delighted. Service, hospitality & all courses were splendid. Perfect break times between courses, not too quick nor to delayed served. It was just outstanding with a pleasant atmosphere

Service needs to be a lot better honestly. I wanted to call for the waiter but they weren’t very attentive and I had to wait so long. Also the receptionist changed our tables, and one of the waiters was not friendly. You would expect better at a fine dining restaurant like this one. Food was amazing though, seriously one of the best in the area. I liked it.

The views were amazing and the ambience very nice. About the food…I should’ve read the reviews first. The prices are on the high end but the quality is not that great. I ordered presa ibérica and it was dry, and as a side you get fries (my husband got fries as a side as well). Yes, regular fries as a side like in a fast food restaurant. So the whole meal was very dry. I am not the only one who thinks like this, so I would consider changing the menu/chef in some point.

A bit disappointed that we asked for a table on the restaurant and was told fully booked yet we watched a two tables for two stay empty up until We left We ate in the bar area and the food was very good and staff were very friendly and helpful minus the receptionist who didn’t want to let us dine in the restaurant area !!

Went here with my wife a few weeks ago. Had a drink in the bar before being seated at the table. The food and service were fantastic and I would highly recommend. The views are incredible and you can see fuengirola in the distance

Absolute perfection! We were treated so well and everything was delicious. Prices were reasonable for the quality offered. The most amazing ladies room ever found in Spain. With three full vanities just to touch up your make-up. In sum an absolutely forth it experience!

It's mixed experience about this restaurant. The food was no doubt excellent, proper gourmet restaurant. But we couldn't book it in advance because their website ( supposedly Spanish/English) kept returning to the Spanish so we came early to make sure we can get the table and spent a couple hours in the bar. Here's another thing - as the bar is in the inside room you're missing all that beautiful sunset view and it's really breathtaking from there ( you can still walk to the panoramic window to take a picture). My husband's veal steak was to die for, so delicious. And I had a spider crab moose ( very good) and decided to try their famous Fabada ( the half of it us more than enough as it's very filling). It's nice but I would say you need a good stomach to digest it, I could afford only a few spoons. Don't miss their deserts, especially the Chocolate Bar ( enough for 2 people at least)). Would definitely recommend this place

Transportation in Costa del Sol

Getting around Costa del Sol can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Tangier-Ibn Battouta Intl. Airport

International airport
Airport
Tangier-Ibn Battouta Intl. Airport is a convenient and efficient airport located in the heart of Tangier, Morocco. Travelers have praised its fast customs and security processes, as well as the availability of food, drinks, and shopping options on-site. The airport offers clean facilities with ample seating areas and a designated prayer room. Visitors also appreciate the easy access to taxis for transportation to the city center.
It’s totally hassle-free. When you arrive, you can easily get a SIM card. They have fixed prices, but you can still negotiate a bit. Passport control was smooth. The airport is only 25 minutes from the city, and I paid 160 DH for 2 people and 2 small bags — card payment is also accepted. For the return flight, you need to collect your ticket at the counter (I think until 04.11.2025), and passport control might take longer. There’s an Illy café where you can get a cappuccino for €3.00 and a pain au chocolat for €1.80.

Beautiful airport but very disorganised. Long very long queues at the check in and followed by longer queues at the passport control followed by another person checking the stamps on your passport. It's ridiculous.... If you don't like queues... Best to book fast track or wait upto 2 hours or more... In a way they force you to buy fast track which is very expensive Food is also very expensive at the airport.

Nice airport close to the center of Tanger, situated next to the free zone, small airport with a big parking lot that has no covered structures to provide protection from sun or rain 😤. People take time to go out from checking and I think thats a problem who needs to be solved, as always white taxi giving bad reputation about our beautiful country, bad words, and other pathetic acts in front of public. Bus is good but a little expensive, small taxis not controlled about pricing limit and this what we call corruption. I would like to thank police officers, sanitation workers, bus drivers, parking lot staff.
RICHIRICH L — Google review
This small airport with just 10 gates, is a 25min drive from town. On arrival, and right outside the airport, there are taxi kiosks you can purchase taxi coupons (yes they take credit card) - just bring them to the taxi rank. Airside, you'll find a handful of shops including duty-free, two cafes and a single toilet.
Ling — Google review
Small but simple and easy airport. There are useful comments shared on the internet and a video on youtube. For transport to city, there is an airport bus line number: AE run by Alda (the city’s bus company for all lines) The airport bust stops just outside the exit. I was not able to find much information before getting there, except the comments on Tripadviser. even at the airport when I asked about the bus details to exchange bureau, I was recommended to take a taxi. However my journey was super easy and quick and good value. My destination was near one of the stops so it couldn’t be any better. The bus has air conditioning, you can pay with card/cash. I think the main challenge was if you had any questions, despite trying to be helpful and using google translate, we struggled to communicate with the bus driver about the journey duration and take off time. The total drive from airport to Nejma took like 30-40 minutes. Here is a picture of a leaflet about the route

Small airport for how busy it seems, but they got us through customs pretty quickly, and there was Wi-Fi. Not too many places to eat after the passport line, but not terrible either. It was a bit of a walk to the curb and way further to leave the airport area.

A poorly designed airport! The service is awful too. The location of airlines check in counters kept changing without notification. Check in counter staff are least helpful and unwilling to even consider looking for alternative seats for us. At the gate, economy passengers were placed in two different lines according to their seat number. People having seats in the back half of the plane were asked to go first. However, it was clear that some in the front rows were allowed in because they were Moroccan. Two of those people were standing right next to us before our tickets were checked and separated into two rows. Further, we usually enter a lounge through the use of our elite master cards, but the lounges refused to let in despite the fact the lounge was empty! We found Moroccan airports are generally unpleasant. During our travel within Morocco we cancelled our domestic flights and opted to travel by Al Barq fast train
Dr. S — Google review
The worst airport in Morocco and probably in Africa. I am sad to say this as a Moroccan but this is the reality. I was extremely deceived by air Arabia staff being so rude, asking me to weight all of my personal baggage even my camera and anything on me, saying it shouldn’t exceed 10kg. I flew with air Arabia probably 50 times before and I have NEVER been asked this! Same thing with other airlines, never before! I was forced to empty my own stuff to loose 3 kg before getting my boarding pass. The staff was heartless and mean. I wish to see us doing better than this in our beautiful country, either with locals or tourists. If this keeps happening, we are literally destroying the experience for everyone.

Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport

International airport
Airport
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport serves as a gateway to the wonders of Andalucia, offering easy access to popular destinations like Marbella and Malaga city. The region boasts a mix of modern attractions and rich cultural heritage, with options ranging from trendy vegan eateries and unique boutiques to ancient Moorish palaces and traditional markets.
Airport has air conditioning so waiting inside is very comfortable. Toilets are clean and in good shape. There are a lot of seats so you can find space to wait for the plane. The amount of restaurants and shops is sufficient so you can can buy whether you need to eat or drink. In addition you can find Spanish and local souvenirs. The security control is smooth and quick but more demanding than on Chopin Airport.

Ah, Málaga Airport — my beloved hometown gateway. A sun-drenched portal to Andalusian bliss… or rather, a deeply frustrating paradox: modern on the outside, maddening on the inside. Let’s start with passport control, the crown jewel of inefficiency. Welcome to the chaos: endless queues, overheated tempers, and a tragic ballet of underutilisation. Yes, those automated passport gates — you’ve probably walked past them — are real. They’ve been standing silently in corners for over a decade like forgotten IKEA furniture, never switched on, never removed, just there… gathering dust and existential resentment. A poignant metaphor for wasted potential, really. Fortunately, I can slip through the crew channel like a shadowy VIP — but for the average traveller? It’s purgatory with fluorescent lighting. Tense officers doing the job of ten, facing an avalanche of sweaty tourists while the airport’s actual infrastructure lounges in a coma. And then, the moving walkways — or rather, the non-moving walkways. Ah yes, those graceful steel carpets designed to spare passengers a long trek through endless terminal corridors. Except they’ve been out of service since the Jurassic. Perhaps they’re on a break? A decade-long sabbatical? Or maybe they’re protesting the conditions too — I wouldn’t blame them. It’s astonishing. Málaga Airport has all the bones of a top-tier European hub: sleek architecture, prime geographic position, year-round demand. But it’s run like a pop-up tent at a beach festival — the difference being, a tent might at least offer shade and a smile. What’s truly sad is that this airport could be magnificent. It should be. Instead, we have a gleaming façade disguising a logistical mess, where passenger experience is clearly the lowest priority, and the only ones holding things together are overworked, underappreciated border police who bear the brunt of managerial indifference. I say all this not out of disdain, but out of love — because this airport deserves so much better. As do its passengers. Is anybody reading this? C’mon, guys, wake up!

A truly excellent airport: very clean, well-organized, and with friendly staff. Getting around inside is easy and pleasant. I especially appreciated the water fountains available throughout the terminal. Food prices are affordable, and the airport also offers several entertaining facilities. A wonderful experience—this airport really made my trip exceptional.

Málaga is one of those places that has left a mark with me and my wife. We enjoyed the hospitality, climate, food and location. There's plenty to do whether for friends of nature, culture or culinary. I just stayed for a long weekend, but we have decided to come back and stay for a week, to enjoy the beaches and leisure activities. Thanks to the city and its people for making our stay so enjoyable 🫶🏼

It’s a forever growing airport angle feels like it takes forever to get through security ; but to be honest when you look at the timings it’s usually around the 30 minutes. Really quick Lounge is also upgrading and the bar and food areas are much more accessible Plenty of seating too
Chris L — Google review
Drinkable water from a water fountain is available once through security. There is one fountain that I found by gate c34 as pictured below. (I believe there are more though) I must admit as others have mentioned it isn’t the greatest tasting water but it states its drinkable so thats something at least. Note: Still as of end of October 2025 you cannot take bottles with liquids through security even though they are supposed to have installed better x-ray machines by “2025”….whenever that actually means exactly? The airport itself is very nice and very modern.
Paul S — Google review
Málaga Airport - sunny, lively, and just chaotic enough to remind you you’re in Spain. The views are great, the vibe is relaxed, and you can practically smell the vacation in the air. One star off only because your gate will always be the one farthest away. Still - four solid stars and a ¡bienvenidos!

We recently spent 10 days exploring southern Spain during the Easter holidays with our children, and Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport was a fantastic introduction—and farewell—to the region. As a family traveller, I look for efficiency, cleanliness, and clarity in an airport. Málaga Airport delivered all of that and more. Despite the busy holiday season, everything from passport control to baggage claim was incredibly smooth. We were off the plane and through arrivals in under 30 minutes, which felt like a minor miracle with kids in tow! The airport is modern, well-signposted, and surprisingly spacious. Clean washrooms, plentiful seating, and helpful information desks made navigating with children much less stressful. Staff members were courteous and spoke good English, which made things much easier for international travellers. What really stood out to me was how well-organised the transport connections were. Whether you’re picking up a rental car, catching a train, or hopping on a shuttle, the signage is clear and walking distances are short—especially important when you’re hauling luggage and trying to keep young kids happy. On our departure day, check-in was quick, security moved briskly, and we found plenty of dining options past security—including child-friendly choices. The airport lounge areas also had great runway views, which kept the little ones entertained while we waited to board. All in all, Málaga Airport was a pleasant surprise and set a positive tone for our Andalusian adventure. It’s efficient without being overwhelming, and clean without being clinical. For families flying into southern Spain, this airport is a perfect gateway.
