Brasserie
Restaurant
Du Progres is a long-standing family-run brasserie located in the historic heart of Ghent. The restaurant offers traditional Belgian dishes such as Belgian steaks, beef stew, Ghent stew, and pork cheek stew with Westmalle beer and Tierenteyn mustard. The establishment is known for its reliable and delicious food, earning it a reputation as a 'trusty go-to' among locals.
Lovely atmosphere, great food, local beer and helpful staff. We were able to access a menu in English and there were plenty of local food options; we were trying to avoid eating at a chain and just passing through, so this fit the bill and they looked after us. Thanks!
Emily D — Google review
Nice place. They use good ingredients. The food was too salty, with little other spices or flavor. There was no sauce for the fries. The creme brulee was delicious.
Marcin B — Google review
The service here is nothing less than outstanding. Nikolas delivered the most above and beyond service I have ever experienced in my life. Never have I ever felt so taken care of throughout the entire dining experience, and it truly was a breath of fresh air. Nikolas paid us so much attention and delivered above and beyond what I could’ve ever expected from a dining experience. Safe to say my favorite place I have ever been to— and I WILL be back. Aside from the absolutely OUTSTANDING service we experienced, I had the chicken waterzooi which was BEYOND delicious, we also had the steak tartare which was to die for, and the vegetarian spaghetti which was amazing! Nikolas, thank you so much for your care, you have genuinely changed how we view dining forever.
Bella H — Google review
Absolutely amazing. From the moment I stepped in, they were welcoming. The ambiance is elegant but relaxing. The servers are spectacular. Mine showed me the proper belgium was on how to eat the flemmish stew which I found endearing as not many would go out of their way to explain how they typically consume their natural meals. The food was definitely filling and hearty but given the service I had to do a dessert. I highly recommend coming here. If not for the food, definitely for the service. Its above and beyond. You arent rushed. And you are well taken care of in the same regard as all other diners. Thank you for making my last meal in belgium memorable!!
Neena O — Google review
The food was very good, and the appetizer (chicken fingers) came out very quickly. Although the remaining food items all tasted good, and the service team was very friendly, it took well over an hour for us to receive or main lunch courses. I will say the stew was outstanding (although the mashed potatoes were terrible), and I would probably wait another hour to have it again. All in all, it was a good meal, expecte a wait.
Ken O — Google review
I am still sitting down waiting for all this food to let me continue my journey. Since I leave reviews, I rely on them to make decisions as to where to eat while traveling. The reviews of this place was amongst the best in town and the ppl reviewing not only recommended the place, but also the stew as the favorite dish to order. And so I did. Mind you, I had eaten a waffle earlier and was not that hungry, so I thought, I was not gonna finish my meal. I finished it and savored every piece of it. You can taste the beer on the stew and together with the crunchy fries, perfect pair. I just don’t know how my life will continue not having this around !! A must stop in Ghent!
Heidy T — Google review
Trying the Waterzooi was a must after learning that it is a staple dish in Ghent. No exaggeration when I say this was the best dish that I had in the whole of 2024. I savored every bit and flavor of that stew and hope I am able to re-live the experience in the foreseeable future! Note: I was here a year ago but thought it would still be useful to share memorable dining experiences while reminiscing!

Very avarage food. Highly surprised with good reviews. Worst meal that we had in Belgium .

This picturesque spot not only offers delectable dishes that celebrate local flavors but also provides an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. The combination of delicious food and stunning views makes De Graslei an unforgettable experience for anyone exploring this vibrant city.
We had an incredible lunch at De Graslei without a reservation, and they were able to accommodate us with a perfect table. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was delightful. The weather was cool and comfortable, making our dining experience even better. The steak was delicious, and the asparagus, a summer vegetable, was exceptionally tasty. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a wonderful dining experience

Lovely spot by the canal with outdoor seating that’s perfect for enjoying the view, especially around sunset for a romantic vibe. After ordering, we were served bread rolls with a small complimentary appetizer, simple but a nice touch that added to the dining experience. [Broodjes met kruiden & lookboter] Crispy toast served with rich garlic butter, a fragrant and flavorful starter. [Mosselen look & room en verse frietjes] Mussels were fresh, generous in portion, and very satisfying. The Gruut Amber beer paired beautifully with the mussels, smooth, slightly spicy, with a fruity note. [Steak 230g met fris slaatje, saus naar keuze en verse frietjes] The steak which was decent though not a standout, but filling for the price. [Gentse waterzooi van kip met julienne van groentjes en natuuraardappelen] A traditional Ghent dish, was mild but delicate, the chicken tender, with vegetables in a creamy, buttery herb broth. Overall, a great place to experience some authentic local flavors while enjoying the charm of Ghent’s canalside atmosphere.

Staff is really helpful, we did not have any reservation but when we arrived there, they arranged us a good place which had a view of Graslie. Location is really great. Good choice for dinner, we ate oysters, cheese croquettes, fish and calamari. Everything is really delicious except calamari. Next visit, definitely I will shpare time at “De Graslie”.

One of my favorite meals in Belgium. Amuse bouche was also very very good! It is in Picture 4 that is hard to tell what is in it Asparagus was amazing. Never knew asparagus could be so good. Smoked salmon came with it and it was also delicious. Got tiramisu and it was so good. The server told us it was made by an italian company. Our server speaks like 5 languages and was very professional. Amazing experience!
Yinan L — Google review
Amazing atmosphere next to the river, with a beautiful view. The food was amazing. One of the best entrecotes I ever had. The service was also really good. Fast and polite. A 10/10 in my opinion!
Job K — Google review
I had the waterzooi, which looked wonderful. It was a very big portion that I couldn't finish (there's A LOT of cooked meat under those vegetables). The staff were very polite, and the amuse bouche was unexpected but definitely appreciated.
Martina J — Google review
The restaurant is located in the heart of Ghent, with a scenic backdrop along the canal. The fire added a warm touch to the cozy and elegant ambiance of the place, perfect for a cold rainy evening. Before our main dishes arrived, we were pleasantly surprised with a basket of warm toasted buns and an amuse-bouche, adding a delightful touch. Every dish was delicious, meticulously prepared and bursting with flavour. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, making for an enjoyable dining experience. Glad we made the choice to be here for our evening.
CP — Google review
We really liked this placed. Despite living in the city for more than a year I never happened to visited before. They have create a really nice outside area which is very warm even during the winder and has a nice atmosphere. The location is perfect as it is next to the river. The staff was very polite and helpful and the food was very tasty as well. We were impress by the fact that we even received the so called “chef welcoming” that we did not expected. I small appetizer but very tasty as well. The characteristic stew and salad with goat cheese were both well made and taken care as to how to serve.

Kin Khao - Thai Eatery

$$$$affordable
Thai restaurant
Kin Khao - Thai Eatery is a popular restaurant located in the heart of Ghent, offering a cozy atmosphere and a menu filled with traditional Thai dishes. The restaurant follows the Thai tradition of food sharing, allowing diners to enjoy a variety of curries, fish, meat, and poultry dishes. Reservations are highly recommended due to its popularity. Visitors praise the unique dining experience and recommend trying the chicken satay skewers with cucumber salad.
This was our first destination during our time in Belgium and I would say my favorite out of all the restaurants I visited in Ghent (or Lisbon) during the two-weeks abroad. This place offers a sharing-style menu selection which are sure to satisfy. We had the following: - Chicken satay skewers with cucumber salad: Never tasted anything like this at any of the Thai restaurants I've visited in the US. We appreciated that they provided some bread pieces to scoop up the phenomenal sauce they prepared. - Shrimp donut/croquette: Very unique and satisfyingly dense! The chili sauce is definitely not something you get in to-go packets. - Glass noodle seafood salad: very refreshing along with the freshly made green sauce which was very well put together. I think you'll enjoy the squid and octopus! - Red curry salmon: I don't know what they did but this really tempted us to come back. It had such a great melding of all flavors: sweet, sour, salt, but nothing too overpowering. Highly, highly recommended. - Crispy chili chicken: At this point we were so full, but we managed to finish this dish as well I don't know how the crispiness managed to persist being glazed in this sweet and spicy sauce, and the chicken itself was so soft. - Mango mochi & sorbet: Reasonably portioned given how much food we had, which we appreciated. I really don't know how I could say they can improve. We loved every bit of it! When we visit Europe again. We'll have to make a trip especially for Kin Khao!

100% authentic thai… foods taste very good, service is hight class, the restaurant is very nice and prices are reasonable

Good ambience and service. Appetizers were 5/5, while the main dish & curry were just too salty. We had: Papaya salad 5/5 - perfect flavor; not salty / sour like some other places make it Chicken satay skewers 5/5 - tender meat Pork egg rolls 5/5 - crispy, and not greasy Salmon red curry 3/5 - too salty, ruined the dish Spicy pork belly 3/5 - too salty, crispy spin was good but rest of pork meat was a bit chewy for my liking Would still recommend this place while dining in Gent.
Paul T — Google review
We booked this place but didn’t realise that it was a set menu for 50€ person but it was ok, we still decided to try it out ! Many choices and food was great but I gave 3 stars because it’s ridiculous that almost most dishes requested 5€ extra person , which was way too much honestly, so if we ordered dishes with beef, it’d have ended up 70€ + maybe per person, that’s the price for a decent fine dining almost . I won’t recommend to go for this reason but if you don’t care spending this much on regular Thai food restaurant, then just go ahead !
Hsu J — Google review
Wonderful authentic Thai flavors! We walked in with no reservation on a Monday evening and were seated right away. The menu is a bit funky with their base pricing of €50 per person PLUS additional cost on top of certain dishes. As long as you are prepared for that additional cost it’s all good. Service was prompt, bathroom was nice, a little cramped seating wise but overall I’d definitely recommended it.
Pearl P — Google review
Perfect Thai meal. Quality of ingredients and preparation. Great wine (faim de loup / languedoc) Sharing menu is the way to go ) Congratulations.

Best fusion Thai food we had so far in Belgium, the waitresses are enthusiastic and attentive

The food was really delicious! the place is small and has a nice atmosphere. The service was a little slow, they forgot our drinks twice, I ordered a cappuccino and got a regular coffee. Overall it was a good experience

Royal India Restaurant, located in the Donkersteeg area of Ghent's city center, offers a diverse selection of Indian dishes. The menu features an extensive range of curries including options for chicken, vegetarian, and lamb lovers. In addition to popular choices like Aloo Gobi and Palak Paneer, they also offer a wide variety of vegetarian curries.
Great food, Great vibes and Amazing people. Food was amazing and you dont feel away from home. Enjoyed the food with my Belgian friend and would come here every time. Owner was kind enough to share his birthday cake as well.
Brijrajsinh J — Google review
Where to begin. Life changing meal. I got the garlic butter chicken with garlic naan and my friend got the chicken tikka masala. The flavor was insane. Our server was super sweet and the ambiance was lovely. I genuinely wish I could build a time machine and go back to a few minutes ago and eat this all over again ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
Risa B — Google review
Very authentic Indian restaurant. The lady was attentive and served us in a courtesy. We ordered Butter chicken and Paneer curry with Cheese Naan and rice. We liked Butter chicken most and of course Mango Lassi!
Karam I — Google review
Fantastic restaurant! I recently went to dinner with a group of 12, the owner placed an extra table to give us even more space. We were generously served and everyone enjoyed their meal to the fullest, we also took extra Naan bread garlic & cheese.. mmm delicious! The service and the food is always great, every time I eat there, the staff also always checks in if this is the case. Highly recommended!
Talia G — Google review
Visited the restaurant because of the high reviews but I was far from impressed. The server was not friendly at all and he scoffed at me when I asked a question. So the service could have been way better if they are more polite and less arrogant to customers. The place is small so it gets crowded and loud. We had to wait quite some time for a table. Those are expected I guess, but what we didn't know was the long wait for the food. We waited for 40 mins for it to arrive. I do think they prepare orders or cook in batches. The table beside ordered a same dish and got their meal the same time as ours despite arriving 20 mins later than us. So it depends. Although, we saw a lot of other tables still waiting at that point. The food was alright, not the best Indian food I ever had, but probably good enough for Ghent. Is it worth the wait? Probably not To sum it up : long wait, rude server, subpar food
Michelle P — Google review
Probably the best Indian restaurant in Belgium. The food felt so tasty and juicy. Naan was exceptional.
Saurabh T — Google review
Loved the ambiance and the food was awesome. Had a great experience dinning at royal india restaurant. There is no delay in serving food overall loved the place
Kapil K — Google review
One of the Indian restaurants in Ghent. The taste is average, with noticeable use of lot of colour additives. The ambience is pleasant, and the staff is kind. However, the food flavors feel somewhat bland. The waitstaff mainly inquire about reservations and ask if everything was okay, but it seems more like a formality. A decent spot if you’re just looking to satisfy your hunger. The taste of indian foods should be improved.

With options like the 32 euros menu or the 52 euros "wine a gogo" menu, guests can enjoy ample portions of delectable dishes with the added bonus of wine during their meal.
Very cosy, friendly place. Had set menu choosing prawns, salmon and crème brûlée. Wife had croquettes, pork and crème brûlée. All wonderful. Staff were very friendly and accommodating to us and our three year old who also enjoyed some salmon and an ice cream. Thank you and we hope to see you again.
Dmitriy L — Google review
The staff were incredibly endearing and friendly, contributing to a warm and cozy atmosphere that made the dining experience quite special. The appetizers were a highlight, offering a delightful burst of flavors. However, the main courses, while adequate, didn't quite reach the same culinary heights. Overall, it's a pleasant place for a meal, especially if you're looking for a welcoming environment with lovely service.
Ngọc M — Google review
Great variety of local cuisine. Portions are big. Order accordingly.
Kerim K — Google review
We had by far the best meal in Gent at 't Klaverblad. We foolishly arrived without having made a reservation, and somehow they managed to squeeze us in. The food was fabulous, and the staff were exceptional: friendly, fun, helpful - they absolutely made the evening for us. If you're in Gent, be smart, and book a table here! :-)
Annemieke W — Google review
Superb its as simple as that. Food, Service, Wine, Atmosphere all you could not fault. I cannot wait to return. It is small and it gets very busy so booking is essential.

Very nice dinner. Lots of food with decent price for 32 euros menu or 52 euros menu "wine a gogo" included (beware, only during meal you can drink wine orelse they charge you extra).

Restaurant Cocotte

Restaurant
Diner
The dining experience at Cocotte restaurant was fantastic! There was an impressive selection of dishes, each offering a distinct and delightful flavor. The ambiance was pleasant, with friendly and attentive staff ensuring a memorable evening. Special appreciation goes to Raphaela, who played the role of an exceptional hostess. The lobster and pasta dish I had was exceptionally delicious, complemented by excellent service. The location itself was also very appealing.
Great vibe and atmosphere. Modern but classic interior and good selection of wine. The menu has nice pairing recommendation for each selection of food that you can enjoy together. Julie F was my server and she was fantastic, helped me with her recommendations and made sure that I was looked after as I dined alone. Will definitely come back next time :)
Claudia — Google review
Very nice restaurant located inside the hotel. The service was quick and attentive. The menu has quite a number of options, and our mussels and the lamb were delicious. I like the fact they have some items in the menu sourced locally from Ghent. Recommended!
Giulio C — Google review
Cozy place a bit classy. Have to reserve as a lot of people are coming to eat here. Food was ok, service can be improved as they forget some things or need to be called at. Overall nice restaurant in the hotel
Za_zsc — Google review
I really enjoyed my experience here. The food is thoughtfully prepared with delicious flavors and the wine fits the meal perfectly, particularly if Didier is your server. He paired the most lovely Bordeaux with my tagliatelle, and it was perfect. Highly recommend. The servers are all very kind and I like the “fancy” yet “family friendly” vibe. Relaxed, and still a very nice place.
Marie T — Google review
It’s pretty good. The stoofvlees was quite tasty but the burger was a bit too salty and lacked a salad/greens which I don’t recommend. My colleague had the schnitzel which turned out to be nice. They serve with bread on the side. Water (tap water in a bottle) is a rip off (€6.50) I’m sorry but it’s simply ridiculous. Service was great, every staff I met at reservation and the waiters were very friendly. I suggest making a reservation because it’s usually quite full.
Jonathan W — Google review
I wouldn’t recommend spending this sort of money for the service or food that was provided. Took over 10 minutes for the server to get to our table once seated, and infrequent visits from then on out. The 3 AM burger was good, as well as the beef carpaccio, but the lousy service wasn’t redeemable even with these items.
Keaton A — Google review
We had a lovely dinner experience that was not only delicious but also incredibly baby-friendly! They provided a baby chair and even gave us some painting tools to keep our little one entertained—such a thoughtful touch that let us enjoy our meal in peace. The staff were absolutely exceptional. I had planned a small birthday surprise for my husband, and they went above and beyond. They surprised him with a mini firework on the dessert, and when they noticed my birthday card saying “papa-to-be,” they gifted us an adorable piece of baby clothing with their brand logo on it. Such a sweet and unexpected gesture! As for the food, everything was delicious. We had the rye eyes, catch of the day, crispy cauliflower, and king prawn pasta. Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared. The only tiny letdown was the cauliflower—it wasn’t as crispy as I had expected, as I thought it would be deep-fried. Still tasty, though! Overall, it was a wonderful night with great food, heartwarming service, and a family-friendly vibe. The staff are definitely stars !! Highly recommend!

't Klokhuys

$$$$affordable
Brasserie
If you're in the mood for a delicious dish from Belgium, then 't Klokhuys should definitely be on your list. The brasserie specializes in classic dishes that originate from Ghent, such as the Waterzooi - a creamy stew made with fish or chicken. During your meal, don't forget to try some of the other famous Belgian dishes like the Stoverij.
Super duper good! The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the “Flemish beef stew” with fries myself, and it was truly phenomenal! The atmosphere is super cozy, and at the same time, the waiters were kind without being overbearing.
Simon B — Google review
Very good Belgian restaurant. We ordered Waterzooi, Flemish stew, Roquefort Steak, Tiramisu and chocolate mousse. The Waterzooi and the chocolate mousse were the best dishes we ordered. The meat is a bit hard to chew on in both the steak and Flemish stew. The two employees serving us were very friendly and helpful, they made sure everything went smoothly. Recommended.
Joe — Google review
An absolutely lovely place to have dinner. The beef stew was tender and flavourful with an accompanying side salad and fries, which balanced the meal well. Would recommend!
Kathryn L — Google review
A fabulous spot for a traditional Flemish meal. I had starters and a main course that were quintessentially Ghent. And of course fantastic Belgian beer. The staff guided me to some great choices and were very friendly. The location is very central to my hotel in many other places, but a block away in a sense that makes it not feel like a tourist trap. They clearly had a passion for representing their food and their country. This was a perfect first night in Ghent sort of restaurant !
Ben B — Google review
Let's start with the good things. The food was fine, no complain on that part, hence the two stars. Even though the waiters were nice and polite, the service was extremely slow, we waited more an hour to get our food. I understand that it was a Saturday evening, but still, if you can't handle that much customer, you should not let that much customer in. When we arrived, our table was not read by the time of our reservation (not really surprising if you take the slow service into account), it took 15 minutes to take our drink order, but then we had to wait for a different waitress since our initial waitress wasn't familiar with the chef's recommendations. Not the mention that the the ventilation of the venue is substandard, all our clothes had to washed after our visit in this establishment. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are in an emergency.

Seli's Noodlebar

Chinese noodle restaurant
Ramen restaurant
Seli's Noodlebar is a chinese noodle restaurant that serves up delicious and fresh noodles in a comfortable and relaxed setting. The restaurant has an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare your food. There is also an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy the warm weather. The menu features a variety of different types of noodles, as well as soups, healthy lunches, and dinner options. There is also a full bar serving wine, beer, and cocktails.
Highly recommended this restobar is excellent surroundings, great menu choices and such a friendly service, really satisfactory food and drinks at affordable prices. The waitress is so pretty i wanna know her name can someone help me?
Eva A — Google review
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant and I will never order from here again. I would advise others to avoid it altogether unless it's an absolute last resort, and even then, I can't imagine a situation where it would be worth it. The fried rice with fried chicken was a total letdown - the rice was mediocre at best, but the chicken was horrendously overcooked. When I called to address the issue, the person who answered the phone rudely dismissed my complaint, insisting that it was how the dish was "meant to be cooked." As an Asian individual, I know a thing or two about fried chicken, and this was definitely not it. When I sarcastically asked if she had ever even tried fried chicken, she defensively claimed she hadn't. The lack of accountability was astounding. When I requested to speak with the manager, the staff member initially told me to call back tomorrow at noon, but then backtracked, saying she had no idea when the manager would be available. The chicken was so dry that it was practically grey in color, as evident in the photo I uploaded. I also ordered the duck and fried rice, which were passable at best - the portion of duck was disappointingly small, and the flavor was bland. Even Carrefour instant food would have been a better value. Save yourself the trouble and dine elsewhere. Not at Seli’s Noodle Bar
Ashiqin A — Google review
The restaurant is in a great location. The noodles themselves are quite good – fresh and well-prepared. Portions are very generous, so you definitely get value for money. However, the noodle wonton soup was a bit disappointing, as the broth lacked depth and flavor. Similarly, the noodles with pang sauce didn’t quite deliver on taste; it felt like something was missing. Overall, it’s a nice spot with potential, especially if they can improve the flavor in some of the dishes.
Marisol R — Google review
Tried the chicken udon noodles in broth — warm, comforting, and tasty. The broth was flavorful, and the noodles perfectly cooked. A great choice for a cozy meal!
Olvolv7 — Google review
Came once, repeated next day, and next day. All my days in Ghent I found myself eating at this place. That's just how good it was, noodles were incredibly delicious and the duck I never ate something like that before so amazing.
Antonio A — Google review
Didn’t believe the reviews, wanted to try myself. Never going again. Really bad food.
Ivan P — Google review
Poor service and the food is only just ok. Went there with our three year old and asked for a smaller portion of fried rice. This was denied by the waitress. The two different types of Seli's noodles we had were just standard food. Any precooked alternative from a supermarket can beat this poor flavor. Save your money and time by skipping this restaurant.
Thomas B — Google review
Don't go. Just walk on by. We were so hungry that the alarm bell of not offering a noodle soup with veg without a beef base was not enough as we had to eat. We ordered the house speciality noodles. My husband had the black pepper and was hugely disappointed, as there was little flavour. My kungpo veg noodle were pretty flavourless. My kids both ordered veg udon noodles, but the sauce tasted different for each of them, despite being the same dish. Insultingly, it cost almost 60 euros. We feel we've been robbed. When I tried to raise it, the woman pointed out that it couldn't have been bad, as me and my husband had eaten it. As I told her, we were incredibly hungry. Between the girls, we left almost 2 portions. They literally picked out noodles. Dissatisfied. I wish we never paid.

't Oud Clooster

Belgian restaurant
Nestled in a former monastery, t Oud Clooster is a charming restaurant located in Ghent, Belgium, where history meets modernity. This intimate eatery offers a delightful escape from the bustling tourist spots while remaining accessible to all guests with features like ramps and accessible restrooms. The menu is small yet playful, showcasing well-prepared Flemish dishes alongside vegetarian options and gluten-free delights such as bread, pasta, and desserts.
It's very important to make a booking in advance. They are very busy and it's easy to see why. The food was really good. And the staff very friendly and helpful. Wide selection of beers to choose from. We had a seabass special and a steak with blue cheese sauce. The seabass was really good but may not be on the menu if the future. The steak was slightly less tender than expected but was still really good. For dessert we had a cheese board and a tiramisu. With a latte and hot chocolate. Which made a perfect end to the meal. Not the cheapest place but well worth it.

One of the best meals I had in Belgium. We thought we were in the back of the restaurant but the back is the front. Server was great and just attentive enough. Lots of food of the day items and a large menu to choose from. My red curry was a great take on red curry which is my measuring stick for an Indian restaurant. This is not an Indian restaurant but it was beautiful and very good. I could have used a bit more spice. The beef stew was very flavorful and the fries and salad were great. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

LOVED it! I tried the special of the day. Liege meatballs. Beautiful to look at, smelled wonderful and tasted out of this world! Great fries! The drinks are very good. Everything we ordered was excellent.

This place was cool! The entrance is kind of hard to see, even with the big sign hanging up above the door (I walked past it twice!) but the search is worth it. The interior and back terrace are nicely decorated and the story of the place is explained on the menu. The staff were patient and answered all my questions, and the service was top notch. The food was reasonably priced, as were the drinks, and both were phenomenal. I was served some delicious buttery and slightly spicy popcorn while waiting for my main dish. The proportions were generous. Highly recommend!

My husband and I recently visited 't Oud Clooster during our lovely city break in Ghent, and it proved to be a wonderful spot for dinner. The building itself is absolutely stunning, boasting historical charm and a beautiful atmosphere that made the experience feel quite special. The menu offered an ample selection of dishes, and we found the service to be highly attentive; the staff were friendly and prompt, ensuring our order arrived swiftly and that we were well looked after throughout the meal. The only minor niggle in what was otherwise a great evening was the proximity of the dining tables. They are placed rather close together, which meant we felt slightly lacking in privacy for our own conversation. That said, this small point certainly wouldn't deter us from highly recommending this restaurant to anyone visiting the city. Make sure you book in advance, as it's clearly a very popular spot in Ghent!

It’s a very good Belgian food to bring my friends who visiting from oversea. Been here a few times and always happy with the food and service. We were very happy with the duck breast yesterday! Beef stew was decent. The fried chicken was on the dried side tho.

I was lucky to get a table without a reservation, but I recommend booking a few days in advance. All the tables were fully booked when I arrived. I came here based on a local Flemish colleague’s recommendation, and it was definitely worth it. I ordered the beef stew and beer. The stew was rich, flavorful, and delicious, though a bit heavy for me to finish on my own. Thankfully, the fresh salad and marinated citrus onion balanced the heaviness and helped me enjoy the whole meal. The dessert, with strawberries and mint, was refreshing and a perfect ending after such a hearty dish.

We were excited to try this place out, especially after seeing all of the positive reviews! However, we were not impressed by the food or the service (the atmosphere was nice). The duck breast was absolutely inedible, it was completely tough and rubbery. The burger was quite gamey. We did like the potato croquettes and fries. The service was super slow.

Brasserie
Bridge Brasserie, located in Sint-Baafsplein Square, is a popular dining spot in Ghent that attracts both locals and tourists. Known for its Gentse specialties and mussel dishes, the brasserie has even received culinary award nominations. Visitors praise the delicious food, with highlights including mussels and fries, beef stew, carpaccio, vol au vent, lamb dishes, and delectable desserts like moeilleux.
Seems to be very popular place for locals, we came by this area and decided to give it a try. Fine food & great ambience, chill place for food, drink and chit-chatting.

The meal and beer were quite good. However, it took hour for the dish to arrive. I’m not sure if it was a mistake or if the dish naturally takes a long time. Observing the serving speed at nearby tables made me feel a bit uncomfortable, but when I addressed the issue to another passing waitress, it was promptly resolved.

Nice place. Best mosselen in town! Stoofvlees also really good. Excellent dessert too. Been here second time after 6 years ago, still delicious food and good service.

I visited with friends for Sunday lunch and made a reservation beforehand. We were running late, and the staff were very accommodating in holding our table. One of our group was also pregnant, and so they offered a table downstairs. The location is very central and so we expected to pay tourist prices for average food. I ordered the lasagna and was pleasantly surprised. The prices were inflated, but the dishes are reasonable, with big portions. My friends also ordered the shrimp pasta, spaghetti bolognese, mussels, and beef stew and were happy with their food as well!

Was really craving something simple, fresh and with seafood. The spaghetti scampi diabolique didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend.

My wife and I dropped by Bridge on Christmas Day after having a terrible time finding open restaurants (despite what Google said!). Very thankful to get in at all, but it did seem like the restaurant was under serviced. We opted for kaas croquettes, chateaubriand, and vispannetje. It was delicious

Wonderful place, awesome location, the best stew we had in Gent and an awesome self made moelleux au chocolat! On top of it all, great service with a genuine smile. Great experience for us.

Airport
Brussels Airport is a convenient hub for both domestic and international flights, with easy train connections to the city center. While in Belgium, history enthusiasts can explore the Belgian Army Museum and Museum of Military History, featuring original World War airplanes. For automobile aficionados, the Palais Mondial showcases over 300 vintage cars and motorcycles. Cycling enthusiasts can embark on a picturesque journey from Ostend to Brussels via Bruges and Ghent.
I like this airport — it has everything you need. A basic airport with good facilities and easy access. I was here only for a connecting flight, and there was no additional control in between; I could just pass directly and wait for my next flight.
Syrina — Google review
Brussels Airport is generally a pleasant and well-maintained airport, with several features that make the travel experience smooth and comfortable. The terminal is clean throughout, and the toilets are large and spotless, something you definitely appreciate on a long travel day. It’s also very accessible, with excellent connections via train, bus, and tram, making it easy to get to and from the city. There are plenty of vending machines available, and water can be purchased for as little as €1, which is rare for airports. Staff were kind and helpful, and I really appreciated the effort put into making the airport feel welcoming. There are great facilities for both kids and pets, including a nice grassed area with a fake tree for dogs. The duty-free section is solid, and the Tintin shop is a highlight, offering some really fun souvenirs and bags. However, there were a few areas that could be improved. At one point, the toilets near my gate were being cleaned, and I had to walk nearly 10 minutes to find another one—not ideal when you’re about to board. Prices throughout the airport are steep, even compared to other major airports. The signage can be a bit confusing, especially for first-time visitors, and the food options in the B section are quite limited—especially late at night when many places close early. There were also slight delays with Brussels Airlines, though nothing major. All in all, Brussels Airport offers a clean and mostly smooth travel experience, with some unique touches—but it could definitely benefit from clearer signage and more late-night amenities.

This airport is impressively well-preserved, offering a clean, organized, and efficient travel experience. Facilities are maintained to a high standard, with spotless restrooms, clear signage, and comfortable seating areas. The blend of modern amenities with careful upkeep of original design elements gives the space both charm and functionality. Staff are professional, and operations run smoothly. Whether you're arriving or departing, this airport reflects a strong commitment to quality and passenger comfort.

Brussels Airport is a vast and generally clean hub that offers a pleasant travel experience. The sheer size of the airport means you'll have plenty of space to navigate. A standout feature is the abundance of excellent chocolate shops, a true highlight for any traveler with a sweet tooth. "The Chocolate House" is particularly noted as a top destination for indulging in some of the world's best chocolate. While the airport can be busy, especially during peak times, planning for an early flight can help you avoid the crowds. Overall, Brussels Airport is a great starting point for your journey, especially if you're looking to stock up on delicious Belgian chocolates. I also love their water for cause idea. Make sure you are prepared to pay for excessive baggage… because you know…. You can never have enough chocolate!

Nice airport but horribly insane lines. Someone from our group took almost 3 hours to get through the customs line for all passports when entering the country. I thought maybe it was a off day but when leaving the country it also took us about 2 1/2 hours to get through the security line to fly international. It’s a shame there aren’t more close options to fly out of Belgium. If you do have the unfortunate experience of flying out of here, arrive 3-4 hours before your flight leaves.
Zak C — Google review
Be prepared - Flights arriving from outside the EU have an extremely long corridor to walk down to passport control (with often broken people movers). Then, if you don’t have an EU passport, be prepared to stand like cattle for 1-2 hours in the “all passports” queue. (Even as a resident here with a protocol ID or residence card.) Roughly 3-4 agents servicing hundreds of passengers, utilizing no new technology or procedures since the 1950s. My ancestors from Ellis Island would feel right at home. This often leads to backups in passengers getting luggage, so it will pile up on the conveyors or get moved to another area.
Peter N — Google review
Small, efficient, and overcrowded. It’s taken us 40 minutes from queue to pass security checks. Officers seem to work professionally but I think it's not enough with the passengers

I fly for more than a decade and I still think this is one of the best airports I've ever seen. It's clean, smooth, interesting and there are a lot of seats in the gates. This is one of the few airports I've flown where bathrooms are regularly clean! Gates are well-organised too, I can even sit down at the gate when I have to take a crowded flight! It's full of great shops and comfort areas. There's a big variety of food, souvenirs and more in the shops! I recommend you trying some sushi at the Japanese mini market before leaving the airport after you disembark the plane; it's so nice!! The lounge is bright, comfy and well-organised and food is amazing too. Terminal B is my personal favourite, it's spacious, comfy and easy to navigate in. When my flight from here to Helsinki was diverted and turned back here, the organisation of the staff in that situation could have been better, but they gave us an amazing 4-star hotel as compensation. It's pretty well-connected to the city, you can just take the train to Schuman which is in the core of the city or you can take bus 12 Express to Trône/Troon which is a great option too. I recommend flying to Brussels Airport, you will have a great experience there.

Brussels South Charleroi Airport

International airport
Airport
Brussels South Charleroi Airport, established in 1919, is a hub for budget airlines such as Ryanair. It's often used by travelers heading to or from Charleroi. The airport is conveniently connected to nearby cities through bus and rail links, with a bus departing every 20 minutes from Brussels South station. Despite its small size, the airport provides all necessary amenities including dining options and clear signage. Travelers should note that the toilets before check-in are pay-to-use.
I’ve traveled to about 15 countries, and I must say—Charleroi Airport truly stands out from the rest. It’s the only airport I’ve ever seen that proudly offers paid toilets with free smells. What a combo! And just when you think luxury can’t get any better… the paid toilets don’t even have a sink. Who needs hygiene when you’ve already paid for the experience? My flight landed around midnight, and my bus from Brussels to Amsterdam wasn’t until 9 a.m. My original plan was to wait comfortably inside the airport until morning. But thanks to Charleroi’s unforgettable amenities and cozy charm, I felt so inspired to leave that I ventured into Brussels in the middle of the night. Funny thing is, on my last trip I was in a similar situation at Vienna Airport—stuck overnight, waiting for a morning connection. But Vienna had way too many empty, comfortable benches. I sat down “just for a nap” and ended up falling asleep, completely missing the chance to explore Vienna by night. Charleroi, on the other hand, solved that problem beautifully. With only two benches in the entire place, it made sure no one got too comfortable. Instead of snoozing, I found myself strolling through Brussels under the stars. Wandering through the quiet streets, I unexpectedly stumbled upon the Grand Place, glowing beautifully and completely empty. It was magical—something I would never have experienced if the airport hadn’t been that comfortable. So yes, credit goes to me for my adventurous spirit—but let’s give a round of applause to Charleroi Airport for making sure I didn’t get too comfortable. Truly, an airport that changes lives.

Charleroi Airport is a small but efficient airport, known for offering many low-cost flights to destinations all over Europe. It’s a popular choice for budget travelers looking to explore the continent without breaking the bank. However, one major downside is the lack of a direct train connection to the airport, which can be inconvenient and time-consuming for many passengers. This limitation makes planning your transport in advance essential, especially if you’re relying on public transportation. Shuttle buses from Brussels and nearby cities are available, but they require extra time and coordination.
Ammar A — Google review
The biggest negative point is I didn't find any free toilet in the terminal 👎and all were paid ones, which is very unfortunate as this is basic free facility that every airport should have. The airport itself look modern. Lot's of eateries joint just outside the terminal building and the prices seems to be reasonable as well.
Rahul — Google review
It's one of the most important airports in Belgium. However, it's quite far from Brussels (about 1 hour by bus for €20), and there is no train or metro connection to the airport. Some parts of the airport feel disorganized and unfinished, while the duty-free shop is very stylish and visually impressive.
Persico — Google review
I recently flew from Charleroi Airport and had an overall neutral experience. We arrived about three hours before our flight since we’d heard there could be long queues for security. Luckily, everything went really smoothly that day. No long lines at security or in the parking area, which was a nice surprise. We had booked parking in advance in P1, and it was quick and easy to access. Security was efficient, and we were through in just a few minutes. The bathrooms were clean and free to use, which is always appreciated. There’s a food court with a decent selection, though the seating at the gates is quite limited, so it can get crowded when multiple flights are boarding. Overall, the airport is small but organized, and staff were generally helpful. It’s not the most modern or spacious airport, but it gets the job done for short European trips. I’d say the experience really depends on the season and time you’re flying, it might be busier during holidays. For us, everything was smooth, and we were at the gate two hours before the flight.
Kaèy E — Google review
Charleroi Airport is a good choice if you’re looking for low-fare flights with airlines like Ryanair, Wizz Air, or Air Corsica. The airport offers a variety of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy food or drinks while waiting for your flight. However, there are several areas that could be improved. Firstly, the airport is quite dirty and would benefit from more frequent cleaning — the bathrooms are especially bad. Secondly, flights are often delayed due to staff shortages or strikes. Thirdly, the security lines can be quite long, so make sure to arrive with enough time to spare. Tip: there are two security lines — one towards the front of Terminal 1 and one towards the back. Both are fine for entering the gates. Lastly, the airport is quite small and can become very crowded, especially when it rains and the rooftop terrace is unavailable. It might be sensible to bring your own food, as the available options are limited and there may be long wait times.
Edward W — Google review
The worst airport ever, especially terminal 2. Everything is dirty, no places to sit, people are laying down on the floor. A scandal to human dignity. Also one of the only airports where before passing security control (when you land here) you should pay for going to the toilet, insaaaane 😳 a bottle of water is 4€ min 🙃
Alya — Google review
1 star because: You need to pay at the toilet . There are frequent delays. The information on the site is not up to date for the flight information. It is difficult to drop off people. The wifi and internet coverage is bad. There are no trash bins. The security check process is slow and extremely strict compared to other airports. For example, if you have headphones or cameras, you are stopped. Upd. The longest wait of my life to collect baggage.

Rotterdam The Hague Airport

International airport
Airport
Rotterdam The Hague Airport is a modern international airport located between Rotterdam and The Hague, specializing in scheduled flights to various European business destinations. It offers a clean and tidy environment with a good selection of shops and a food court. The airport is easily accessible, with convenient 15-minute parking available. Travelers can also reach the airport by train from Amsterdam or The Hague. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the vibrant cocktail scene in Rotterdam before departing from this Dutch-owned airport.
One of the best small airports I’ve used! Rotterdam The Hague Airport is clean, efficient, and incredibly easy to navigate. Security was quick, and the staff were polite and helpful. It’s a great option if you want to avoid the crowds and long lines at larger airports. The facilities are modern, and there’s a relaxed atmosphere throughout. Perfect for short European trips — I’ll definitely fly from here again!
Pratik R — Google review
Very small airport, great for a stress free flight. Not so great if you’re looking for a variety of amenities, small duty free and insignificant lounge, in my opinion the Starbucks is way better than the restaurant, which is significantly overpriced for the quality of food.
MSJ — Google review
This is a small airport, but definitely not a smooth one! Passengers have to walk to the airplane 😂😂 There are 4 security checkpoints, but only 2 are ever working. Only 2 passport control counters — and long, unmanaged lines. You’d think that with fewer than 20 flights a day, everything would run smoothly. Big mistake! The lines and crowds are surprisingly large. Poor resource allocation and lack of management make the whole experience frustrating. Please avoid 🙅‍♂️this airport if possible — use Schiphol Airport instead.
Maximus M — Google review
Rotterdam The Hague Airport (formerly Rotterdam Airport, Vliegveld Zestienhoven in Dutch), (IATA: RTM, ICAO: EHRD) is a minor international airport serving Rotterdam, the Netherlands' second largest city, and The Hague, its administrative and royal capital. It is located 5.5 kilometres (3.4 mi; 3.0 nmi) north northwest[1] of Rotterdam in South Holland and is the third busiest airport in the Netherlands. The airport handled over 2.1 million passengers in 2019 and features scheduled flights to European metropolitan and leisure destinations. It is also used extensively by general aviation and there are several flying clubs, a skydiving club and a flight training school located at the airport. After World War II, the Dutch government decided that a second national airport was needed in addition to Schiphol. Rotterdam had previously had an airport before the war; Waalhaven airport, but it was heavily damaged in the German bombing of Rotterdam, and was later completely destroyed to prevent it from being used by the Germans. Reconstruction of the airport was not a realistic proposition, so a new location was found in the Zestienhoven polder, giving the airport its original name.[3] Construction of the airport began in August 1955 and the airport was officially opened in October 1956. Several large international airlines, such as Swissair, Lufthansa, Air France, Channel Airways, and British Air Ferries (Channel Air Bridge) were soon operating to Rotterdam. However, in the 1970s plans were made to either close or move the airport to make space for housing. Its uncertain future halted the airport's growth and led to many operators leaving.[3] Development since the 1990s edit For almost thirty years the airport faced closure, but the economic growth of the 1990s caused an increase in passengers again, and in 2001 it was decided that the airport's current location would be maintained for at least a century.[citation needed] The route with the longest continual service, to London Heathrow and operated by KLM Cityhopper, was suspended in 2008. This marked the end of KLM's involvement with the airport. However, in December 2012, British Airways began a service to Rotterdam from Heathrow.[4] In October 2014, British Airways announced they would suspend the route again in March 2015.[5] British Airways now flies to Rotterdam from London City Airport.[6] The name of the airport was changed from Zestienhoven to Rotterdam Airport and finally in 2010 to its current name Rotterdam The Hague Airport. Most flights today are operated by smaller mainline jets such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 series or the Embraer 190. There is also a fair amount of business aviation. State and military aircraft also use the airport frequently, due to its proximity to The Hague, the seat of the Dutch government and various international institutions such as the International Criminal Court.[7] With the closure of nearby Ypenburg Airport in 1992 and Valkenburg Naval Air Base in 2006, Rotterdam The Hague Airport is now the only remaining airport in the area. The airport experienced significant growth in the 2010s, doubling passenger numbers from 1,000,858 in 2010 to 2,133,976 in 2019.[citation needed] Bus edit The airport is served by bus line 33, which runs between Rotterdam Centraal, the airport, and further to Meijersplein station. At Meijersplein, transfers are available to metro line E, with frequent service to Den Haag Centraal, Rotterdam Centraal and Rotterdam city center.[37] Car edit The airport is situated next to the busy A13/E19 motorway, which makes it easily accessible via car.

treatment I received during the security check One of the officers operating the body scanner behaved inappropriately and treated me very rudely. Instead of maintaining a professional attitude, the officer spoke very rude to me for no reason, taking advantage of his position of authority. The airport is very good but the treatment by this security was very bad.

Absolutely amazing airport! Security was quite quick for 4pm, gone through in about 5 minutes Staff recognised the sunflower lanyard, which is for hidden disabilities, without me having to saying anything and were amazing with it and were super accommodating!!

Well, there's not a lot here, but it's really convenient airport that is really efficient because it's so small! Food court area is very basic, toilets are downstairs and duty free is tiny, but somehow it all works. Does not feel like an international airport. Very quick to get through to departures. Best to get a taxi from Rotterdam Centraal Station if travelling by train. The buses are slow and infrequent.
