Bannockburn Hotel - Wine Country Restaurant

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of wine country, Bannockburn Hotel - Wine Country Restaurant is a must-visit destination for food and wine enthusiasts. This iconic establishment, dating back to 1862, boasts a charming beer and wine garden that offers stunning mountain views. The menu features an array of locally sourced tapas designed for sharing, reminiscent of culinary delights from Melbourne—thanks to co-owners Andy and Anna's experience in the vibrant food scene there.
Simply the best food we have had our entire trip. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the weather played its part which allowed us to sit outside too and enjoy the stunning views. Cannot recommend enough for a nice treat meal on your trip through this arrangement

It was my mom’s absolute favorite during our NZ trip. So many veggie options available. Wine list is amazing+service is also sweet. Highly recommended.
Rani W — Google review
One of the best restaurants in Bannockburn area I have ever tried. Love the warm pub atmosphere here. Service is warm-welcoming and fast. Most of the dishes I tried today are fantastic. Many vegetable options. Huge wine collection and good on-tap beer list. I and my mom ended up with an IPA which is very satisfying for a sunny afternoon 👍
Uyen ( — Google review
If you are looking for a nice pub and/or to snack - this is the place. This was recommended to us and it was so good. When we arrived, we weren’t sure if we wanna stay or go somewhere but lovely Jules greeted us with such a warm welcome. She is seriously so lovely and the reason we’ve stayed for a drink and snack! The duck liver parfait and fish croquettes - WAS SO GOOD! Thank you, Jules for looking after us. I forgot to take a photo - that’s how good it was.
Kat B — Google review
Another nice lunch at Bannockburn Hotel. Jules was our waitress today. Full of friendly knowledge regarding the menu and dishes we ordered.
Neal R — Google review
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at the Bannockburn Hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything was spot on. The service from Jules was exceptional. She is warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish prepared to perfection and full of flavor. We also had the chance to enjoy a wine pairing experience and each wine matched beautifully with the dishes, clearly chosen with great care and expertise. The atmosphere was calm and family-friendly, the kind of place where you can truly relax and enjoy a quality meal. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a memorable dining experience.
Agustin T — Google review
We booked into a table on the day and we mentioned in the booking that one of us was vegan. As soon as we arrived they made us welcome and took the dietary requirements very seriously, giving options and altering the menu where possible. The menu is based upon sharing dishes so getting a dish for yourself isn't advised. Be prepared to get dishes based on what's best for the group, not for an individual. I got a provoleta dish (cheese) that only I was able to eat. It was great for me but could be too much cheese for some - if you're the only one eating it. portions are based on 2-3 people shareing.

Absolutely sensational food!!! Came for lunch from Queenstown before heading east. A must for people who like food and wine.

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Cromwell, New Zealand, Carrick Winery & Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that perfectly complements its stunning surroundings. With breathtaking views over Bannockburn and the striking escarpment of Felton Road, this winery restaurant boasts a relaxed atmosphere ideal for enjoying meals al fresco during the warmer months. Cyclists traversing the Lake Dunstan Trail will find themselves riding through lush vineyards right by Carrick, making it an inviting stop for those exploring the Otago Trails.
We have dined here for lunch before, it is such a beautiful setting overlooking the lagoon at Bannockburn and on a gorgeous autumn day you can't find much better. All the dishes we chose were delicious - especially the duck! - service was professional attentive and personable - thank you Zoe. Also a nice added touch when we advised we were celebrating a birthday. Definitely recommend as a lovely location for a special lunch at the Restaurant or a casual pizza on the lawn at their new addition.
Michelle S — Google review
We arrived on a super quiet wintry day and were made super-welcome Even though the kitchen was closed, there was a pizza menu, and the staff were crappy to work with dietary requirements. An unbelievably special spot to enjoy views… and obviously a ridiculously good glass of pinot. Would wholeheartedly recommend. I sincerely hope that the bike path through the property continues to support this business
Lee P — Google review
Delicious wines and food, and amazing service from our lovely Italian host! His smile and laugh was infectious, and made our experience that much better! Would 100% recommend for a great lunch and day with friends. The views are absolutely amazing too!
Dayna P — Google review
Fabulous 4-5 course 'Trust the Chef' meal for a large group. Service faultless & friendly. Food fresh & enticing. The stuffed ravioli with remarkable fungi a favourite & the tender flavoursome lamb memorable. Ambience & view - very special. Highly recommend for a large group or an intimate meal for two. Good value.
Marian S — Google review
The food was truly delicious as we choose the long lunch trust the chef. But it was a small amount of food for the price. The pairing wine flight was very expensive for just a sip. A shame as we come regarly as locals🤔
Ine J — Google review
This winery is absolutely stunning and a MUST VISIT !! We did the ‘tasting flight’ of their organic wines while eating the most divine food. ( make sure you have the pâté, omg ! ) The wines are as delectable as is this estate. We walked around the premises and tasted a few more wines in the gorgeous cellar door which overlooks another pretty space ‘the glasshouse’ and garden. All areas have breathtaking views, amazing staff and service !!
Jade M — Google review
A second time here, and it didn’t disappoint. The menu was little bit different, but every dish was of top-quality and flavour paired beautifully with their wines. Service was great and attentive. We were aiming to eat outside in the more casual setting, but there was a table available inside, so we opted for that. One of the most picturesque wineries in the region.
Rob C — Google review
Awesome location. Very knowledgeable waitress , first class Pinot noir, would recommend to anyone wanting a food and wine Bannockburn experience.

Nestled in the charming town of Ophir, The Stoaker Room offers a unique dining experience that beautifully marries rustic charm with gourmet cuisine. This bistro and bar is renowned for its innovative "Barrel Cuisine," which originated from a creative idea to smoke seafood using repurposed wine barrels. Guests can indulge in the delightful Stoaker Banquet, featuring an array of gourmet game, meat, and seafood perfect for sharing.
We went for the meat but the star of the show for us were the desserts. Really enjoyed the charcuterie board that come with great portion of cold meats.
David L — Google review
One of my favorite restaurants in Cromwell. Came back here after 2 years and always felt satisfied with food and service here. I like the marquee style, decorated with yellow lights and warm atmosphere inside. There’s good selection of beers, tasty dishes. I would recommend pork ribs and cheese fondue 👍
Uyen ( — Google review
The Stoaker Room is a grilling masterpiece. Their meats are cooked to a perfect, flavorful char with unbelievably tender interiors. The quality is exceptional, making every bite a smoky, juicy revelation. However, be prepared for a long wait, even with a reservation. The verdict: The wait is absolutely worth the feast.
YK C — Google review
We stopped by the Stoaker Room after having a wine tasting at the neighbouring Mishas. Was a nice surprise to be welcomed into a very warm outdoor seating area. Heated perfectly for a cold wet day! We had the Steak Sandwich and Mac n cheese to share. The sandwich was flavourful with the steak cooked perfectly to my liking. The highlight of that dish was the chimichurri, it compliments the dish so well. The Mac n cheese portion could be bigger. To finish, we had the toffee baked Alaskan which was dangerously good, my father stole my plate and finished it off! That was after he enjoyed his own affogato! Definitely recommend if you are in the area.
Tor95 — Google review
We loved our food and experience at Stoaker! The food was amazing! We ordered pork ribs, stuffed mushroom and orange roughy. My mum can finish the whole stuffed mushroom. The staff was also amazing! really calm and attentive! We would definitely come back again!
Ailey V — Google review
Superb find on the side of the road, in amongst lots of other marquee style venues. Use barrels for a lot of their cooking in a ranch vibe place, stunning food and in a really rustic warm marquee.
R2thebizel — Google review
What a beautiful evening! We saw this place on the road and stopped. The location is stunning! The table overlooking the trees is truly a peaceful place. The wines are excellent and there is a wide selection of food. The dishes we saw were simply fabulous. We are vegetarians so we tried a limited selection of items, but they were all delicious. The staff is very friendly !A special thanks to our cheerful and smiling waitress who was very professional! Highly recommended,
Francesca F — Google review
Pulling into the carpark, we were excited by the smells. Unfortunately the carpark is where our excitement remained. A very cold welcome to start off a child free dinner. Walked through a lovely EMPTY outside dining area, only to be hidden away in a 'backroom' / half renovated extension. I ordered a venison and at over $30, I did expect it to be cooked as I had asked. How wrong was I. Ive never dined in a 'restaurant' that hears 'medium' and 'cut my over $30 venison into little bits' when I've only asked for a medium rare cook. My vegetables tasted like they had been boiled and left outside in the arctic air to cool off. The mac n cheese, I had hoped would atleast tick half a box but my gosh, what a fail that was. 1 x venison and 2 x sides = almost $60. Needless to say, the disappointment hit really hard.

Restaurant
Plato is a seafood restaurant located in a charming modernist building near the Otago Harbour in Dunedin. The former dining room features original furniture and a fine collection of unique dishes, including southern-style fish curry, fish pies, and clams in horseradish broth. The restaurant offers high-class dining with sea views and is known for its generous portions served on vintage plates.
Amazing experience. This is the most extensive seafood restaurant that serves fresh produce and variety of different fishes that are of top quality. The desserts are a sneaky over achiever of a restaurant that’s known for great seafood
Michael — Google review
Food and service was 10/10. Probably the most friendly service I've gotten in Dunedin. However the restaurant got too loud for me. They sit you all next to each other, rather than spread out. But restaurants do that I guess?
Chynal P — Google review
The entrance was kind of confusing for the first time visitors like me. The interior decorated with various collectible items, that created a unique vibes. Started with the raw oysters, following a fish main course, finally finished with crème brûlée. Overall the dishes and service were good. Reasonable value.
Kenny M — Google review
I've been coming to Plato from time to time for years. I have always thought they were very good but tonights meal has just elevated them to the best restaurant in Dunedin (for me). The new menu (don't know when it changed) was excellent. We had 3 drinks, 3 entries, 3 mains, 1 side, and 2 desserts. Each dish was superbly presented, tasted amazing and surprised the pallette e.g. Pork Belly and Clams in a curry sauce, shark and squid, or Licorice Ice-cream. The portions were large and no one left unsatiated. The service was fantastic with the ambiance homely and unpretentious. I really loved that they had multiple fish options; Mackerel, Gurnard, Tarakihi, Tuna, shark. I can't wait to go again.
Rueben S — Google review
Could not get a table yesterday! Glad we came back. Four weeks into our tour of New Zealand and this was our best meal to date. Both our fish dishes were excellent as was the broccoli accompaniment. The Gold Digger pinot noir is well worth sampling!
Cliff H — Google review
Salmon and tuna were absolutely perfect. Our favorite meal of our trip! Cooked perfectly, perfect flavors, and such a reasonable portion of fish which I never come across. Amazing 🤌🏽
Paloma R — Google review
Awesome high quality dishes and with generous portion. Best to share the mains if you have a small appetite. Came here due to online recommendation and did not disappoint.
Weber M — Google review
Such an awesome experience!! Such a cool place you always have something to look at with all the knick knacks! The staff were just so lovely and helpful, the food was incredible, I'll be honest it was very pricey.. the cocktails were very small for over $20, my steak for some reason tasted like it had been marinated in salt and the bill blew my socks off. Other than that 10/10!

Two Chefs Bistro

Restaurant
Two Chefs Bistro is an upscale restaurant in the heart of Dunedin, offering a Parisian ambiance and traditional French cuisine. The dark wood interior with antique furniture and leather seating sets the stage for a charming dining experience. The menu features classic French dishes like onion soup, croque-monsieur, and rib eye steak with Cafe de Paris butter, as well as innovative options such as pan-fried veal rump and braised cherry belly duck.
Great vibes at this restaurant. Loved the music playing solely, the friendly wait staff, and the wait staff's uniforms, with the smart shirt and the aprons, very on point with the vibe. Lovely old building that was warm and toasty inside. The food was very nice, and we had the spanner crab pasta to start, which was a wonderful treat especially to fine a dish with spanner crab. I had the fish main, and my husband had the venison, and we shared the vegetable side. Overall, it was a lovely evening evening out.
Lindsay H — Google review
We decided to check this out based on reviews. Great customer service from the young ladies & selection of wines but the food wasn’t great! My salmon was cooked to perfection but that’s where it ended. My husband’s linguine wasn’t tasty either. Because of this we decided not to stay for dessert. We don’t mind paying for good food but this place was very pricey based on the lack of quality and attention to detail.
Mariah — Google review
I had oversea guests visited so we thought taking to very nice restaurants as welcome. We were arrived at 8pm and restaurant was quite busy and which we understood there will be delayed however we sat down and staff were friendly but we had been ignored for at least 10-15mins. Before someone came over and said hope it is ok for us to wait 30-40mins for food. We said ok. Then I asked for menu. They ignored us for a while. kept telling us one second. But couple of ppl arrived after us got menu and drink order right away (as soon as they sat down) I had to asked at least 3 times before get some water, we had to kept asking as we wanted to order drink and food. We almost had to beg for menu and water. My daughter was upset as she was quite thirsty so she left to get drink from daily. I never experienced this bad service. I had to go up to counter to order orange juice and water. At the end We only got serve water. Finally we got to order. Food was very good though( but we ordered chips but didn't come.) We spent $275 in total. They could get more money if they would ask for dessert. We end up go else where for dessert. Our guest were disappointed. It was embarrassing. We had such a high expectations in service for such a fancy restaurant. However the food was beautiful. Really enjoyed the food.
Lena K — Google review
Superb food, wine, service, ambience. The onion soup: ‘to die for’. Ditto the “silere lamb”. Excellent value. Really, not expensive for what you get. Thoroughly recommend.
Linda W — Google review
We just had one of our best meals in Dunedin at Two Chefs Bistro. Both the food and the service were perfect.
Joel S — Google review
This is a great place for dinner in Dunedin. The service is exceptional and the food good.
Roger H — Google review
So glad we stumbled on this amazing restaurant. Everything was awesome. The service was first class. The food was some of the best I’ve had. Many classic French cuisine inspired dishes. Well seasoned with the best flavours and plated exceptionally well. Dunedin needs places like this where you pay for what you get. I’ll definitely be back and I’ll tell everyone to come and enjoy Two Chefs fine dining

Olivers Restaurant

Mentioned on
3 lists
$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Olivers Restaurant is a charming establishment housed in a 19th-century stone-walled store, exuding historic appeal and recognized as one of Otago's significant heritage buildings. Whether you're looking for a leisurely lunch or an evening meal, Olivers offers a diverse experience. You can savor upscale New Zealand cuisine prepared with superb local produce, watch talented chefs at work in the open kitchen, or enjoy coffee in the courtyard.
This is my 2nd time dining here over the past two months, the food is amazing I am a passionate cook and rarely eat out due to disappointment. Oliver’s is fine dining yet very generous sized meals. I had a lovely waiter tonight his customer service was exceptional I can’t remember the last time I had such an amazing experience dining out. I had the strip sirloin tonight med rare perfection all of it and the gorgeous Indian lentils and lamb rump last month I have thought about several times that’s how I know it’s good!!! Do not miss out on Oliver’s in Clyde.
Michelle O — Google review
We arrived at Olivers at 7:30pm, on recommendation from friends in Dunedin, who come here all the time. We were told that we could not be seated, nor order anything off of the quite dear “main menu”… despite the hours online being listed as 6pm-10pm. There were still many tables open and available. We were offered the “bar snacks” menu instead. I had been willing to pay $50 for a ribeye, $30 for seared scallops, and perhaps $200-300 for a two person dinner. But alas, instead we ordered one beer, one coke zero, and a two person anti pasta platter for $69. A full half hour later we have been served nothing. No update. For a “fine dining establishment” I would be appalled if I were the owner. I recommend you skip Oliver’s or at very least, use an American Express so you can dispute their overrated and underwhelming service and food. If we hadn’t paid already we would have walked out.
John S — Google review
REALLY disappointing in so many ways. We were excited to dine at Oliver’s tonight as we have dined there many times over the years and love the venue, and were keen for our friends to experience it as they had never been there before. We arrived punctually for our booking and waited by the sign to be seated. Two waitresses came out and stood right in front of us, talking to each other. We would consider it rude to ignore us like that at a budget restaurant but Olivers is not cheap, and when you pay good money at a restaurant you expect a level of service that justifies the prices. It would have felt more welcoming if they had stopped chatting to acknowledge us and tell us they would be with us shortly. They continued to ignore us and finally the barman who had been watching this came round and said something to them and one responded ‘Oh we thought they were the people who didn’t have a booking.’ There was no apology for the rude welcome. They then led us to our table and we ordered 4 drinks and as it wasn’t busy we were surprised that they didn’t remember who had ordered what - again something you expect in a good restaurant. The menu sounded delicious and 3 of our group ordered the pork belly with chargrilled asparagus and roast parsnips. There was a side dish of sticky honey carrots that sounded so good we ordered that too. A few minutes after serving our meals the waitress asked if everything was ok and we said yes. As we started eating we all agreed the carrots were really disappointing - there was nothing nice or sticky about them as described on the menu, they had just been boiled. Then we noticed that we had been served beans instead of asparagus. When the waitress cleared our plates we told her the carrots were nothing like their description on the menu, and that we had ordered chargrilled asparagus, not boiled beans and she said the asparagus was no longer in season. We suggested they should have told us that before we ordered. We asked her to relay our concerns to the manager. She didn’t. When we went to pay we expressed our disappointment again. Our waitress came over and acknowledged that they should have told us the asparagus was no longer available …..but then told us we should have told her when she asked if we were happy with everything just after she had served us. We reiterated that they should have told us when they gave us the menus. They agreed to deduct the carrots from the bill and discount the pork dish, and if they had done that, we probably wouldn’t have left this review, but it was only after we had left the restaurant that we realized they hadn’t even honored that - all they did was deduct the carrots - there was no discount for the 3 pork dishes. We got the feeling they were used to getting complaints. It was so disappointing in so many ways. We are all foodies, we love dining out in nice restaurants and love leaving good reviews, but this experience definitely left a bad taste, the lack of integrity of the management there being the most disappointing factor. We’ll never go back under this ownership.
Anna A — Google review
Generous portions mains. We dined on the lamb, beef, and pork belly. All absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere and very friendly service.
Stacey S — Google review
Really didn’t expect the quality of food we received. The prices are up there we thought but once the meals were in front of us and the consumed we knew why, absolutely sensational. Our very attentive waiter was fantastic and spoke freely of his own personal favourites. We all had the steam pudding for dessert and rate it 8/10. Would’ve been 10/10 if they’d used burnt sugar (but that’s a personal thing, no one makes steam pudding like our nana ❤️). Definitely recommend 😊
George M — Google review
Terrible iced coffees. Had a consistency of a smoothie. Tasted like oat milk was used, and the coffee was almost non existent. Never had an iced coffee like it before. Would not recommend
Jess D — Google review
Came to the place as the atmosphere looks great. We got a scallop starter which was the only good thing we had during dinner. Very soft and tasty. Order thrice cook potato that came slightly cold and wasn’t crispy or tasty. Not sure if Ive had such badly cook potatoes. Mains were average. Would not recommend
Jamie — Google review
This excellent restaurant is located on the main street of Clyde. The historically themed setting has been beautifully restored and has both indoor and outdoor areas. The food, presentation and service was excellent. High quality all round. Definitely recommend to all fans of fine dining.

Margo's Queenstown

Mexican restaurant
Margo's Queenstown is a vibrant Mexican restaurant offering a tantalizing menu of traditional and innovative dishes. The eatery is known for its flavorful spices, delicious vegan options, and bold, colorful flavors. From crumbled Cheetos fried chicken to apricot pastor glazed edamame, the menu features unique and mouthwatering options.
Really cute place with a nice vibe! Cosy and warm inside with friendly staff. I ordered the guacamole and chips and they kindly added some salsa for me to try! The food was a decent size and found it filling.
T T — Google review
Many vegan items available! They have happy hour daily from 4-6pm. Service was great and portion sizes were quite large! I would not order the Hippie Nachos again. The nachos tasted sweet rather than savory - I think the sweetness came from the cashew queso. The nacho chips were a bit thick, oily and overly crispy. The salsa was fine.
Jan — Google review
My husband and I ate at Margo's tonight. Joe our waiter was fantastic, he explained the menu, gave us his opinion and recommendations and then left us to choose. Service was quick. Food was amazing. Our drinks came out pretty much straight after we ordered them. All round 10/10 for Margo's
Rosea L — Google review
The food was good, the menu options were limited compared to other Mexican restaurants. Margo’s fat rice was by far the best meal. The drinks were good. It would be so much better if we got our main meals at the same time.
Shads J — Google review
Oh my LORD!!! Eat here! The cauliflower thing is AMAZING! As well as the ribs, fried chicken and bad ass hippie nachos!!!! You might need more tortillas for that. And the churros ❤️
Karla C — Google review
Great Mexican place with clearly marked vegan section on the menu. Went here for an early dinner. Food was tasty, staff were helpful, service was quick, drinks were good, would definitely recommend.
Cam A — Google review
Cute little restaurant in the heart of Queenstown. Our server was a nice person, we had 2 drinks which were good. Everything we had: cauliflower popcorn, chicken taco and vegetable fajita were super delicious, and well seasoned. We tried churros for the first time here, and well… no thank you. I don’t know if the restaurant didn’t make them right or it’s just us who didn’t like it. But they were quite doughy and very sweet. I was expecting chocolate to be hotter.
Divya J — Google review
We decided to try this place after seeing all the great reviews. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to our expectations. We ordered the pork ribs as a starter and the steak fajitas to share as a main — both dishes were quite overpriced for what they were and tasted fairly average. Overall, great service but the food quality and value didn’t match the hype.

Nestled in the heart of Dunedin's Octagon, Prohibition Smokehouse is a culinary gem that brings a taste of smoky Americana to the local dining scene. This vibrant eatery, adorned with roaring 20s decor and infused with a Miami Vice ambiance, offers an enticing menu crafted by talented chefs. Guests can indulge in southern classics like creole-spiced half roast chicken, buttermilk wings, and mouthwatering pecan pie.
Oh I love it‼️ My 2nd visit Dunedin, my 1st time here in this smokehouse. Randomly walked in to try my luck around dinner time at a Friday evening, luckily we got a table for two. Thanks to that lovely young lady. Very chic design you realise soon after you step in the restaurant. Reasonable price even they are just right at the corner of key attraction the Octagon. The food is amazing! I love the steak, perfectly done. I love the mash potato the most, the best I ever had so far 👍 The only "negative" part to myself is the portion is a bit small 😅😅😅 I have a big stomach 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, a fantastic experience, I love it!

Heard so much about the place and finally booked a table for a 40th Bday dinner. The night manager Holly was on the ball, friendly, attentive and knew her stuff. The food was brilliant! Had the dry age steak and worth every cent. Had the fries and beetroot salad to share and easily could've added a 3rd person to devour it. Overall it was a great night-walked out very pleased and super full! Will be back!
Monica B — Google review
Not overly impressed, service was slow and not what i would rate as a top reastaurant. Had to ask for Salt and Pepper, and when they arrived, both grinders were empty and they couldn't find any salt and pepper to fill them. Not a huge choice of mains. Small plates are good. Well we went back again with the Southbase team the service was great food was great very enjoyable 😉 well done
David B — Google review
Ribeye was tough and dry; beetroot salad is bland without seasoning / sauce; oyster seasoning was too salty. Salmon wing was good as a starter. Waiter was nice but not attentive enough and often forgot what we asked for.
Kevin — Google review
This was just a really special evening. We had a Tomahawk steak, mash and Beetroot Salad. I also had a couple of the tequila cocktails. I can’t remember its name but it was so pretty and yum. The steak was perfectly cooked, the sides were great for sharing. Everything was awesome. Thank you so much for a great evening

Prohibition Smokehouse – 4/5 Stars I had a great dining experience at Prohibition Smokehouse. The ambience was lovely—stylish yet relaxed—and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. The food was impressive. The beef croquettes were absolutely delicious, and the boneless chicken thigh was full of flavor with a sauce that had just the right touch of heat without being overpowering. I had the tomahawk steak, which was perfectly cooked—tender and packed with flavor. The sides were just as good: the fries were crisp and well-seasoned, and the Brussels sprouts were a standout—rich, caramelized, and bursting with flavor. For dessert, the passionfruit crème brûlée was smooth, creamy, and not overly sweet. The only downside? They had run out of coffee, which was a bit disappointing and the only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars. Otherwise, a fantastic meal and I’ll definitely be back.

an expensive shout but the dishes were enjoyable and high quality! we really liked the lamb rump, ribeye, and beetroot salad however my friend did find her ribeye (not pictured) was more fatty than others.

The food is out of this world, best place to get a steak, I normally am not the type to order a steak but this was melt in your mouth perfection. I was having a terrible day, where my day started at 5am calling an ambulance, Holly gave the absolute best service, was compassionate and custom making me a gin cocktail to my tastes, and had turned me around from being upset to walking out happy. Highly recommend Prohobition Smokehoude, best place to dine in Dunedin.

Restaurant
Good Good is a trendy eatery located in a Vogel Street warehouse, offering a unique dining experience with ample seating and live music events. The restaurant is known for its gourmet-quality burgers, which have been recognized as some of the best in Dunedin. The menu features juicy and generously portioned burgers made with grass-fed beef, American cheddar, fresh vegetables, and house-made sauces served on toasted brioche buns.
Burgers were very good. Had a beer at lunch. Atmosphere was nice, quite a cool spot.

I’d heard good things about Good Good but I wasn’t blown away by my experience there. The burgers are decent and fill you up but not worth returning for. I think it’s a good place large groups wanting a drink and bar snacks. Service isn’t memorable but the staff were friendly. Would have liked to try the loaded fries but for $25 I didn’t want to risk being disappointed by meat on chips. Overall it has a nice atmosphere with lots of space.

I was a little disappointed with this place. I paid $38 for a burger and fries. The burger was not a true smash burger as it was too thick and lacked the crispy edges you would expect from a proper smash. There was no special sauce, just an overwhelming amount of tomato sauce and mustard. All I could taste was tomato sauce. For the fries, I opted for Parmesan and gravy, which was a huge letdown. The Parmesan was just a small sprinkle and had no noticeable flavour. The gravy was so thin it could have been sipped through a straw. The portion size was tiny, and I even wondered if they had given me the small size instead of the large I ordered. Even if it was small, it felt more like a kids happy meal The atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly, but the food was not worth the price. A burger and fries from a food truck should not cost $40.

Long time fan of Good Good, but the last two times I've been there in recent months, the burgers have basically come out cold. Like the buns are being heavily chilled and not being warmed up before being served. Even the smashed patty in my cheeseburger last week wasn't hot. And it was a quiet mid-week lunch too.

The place is nice and is well decorated. The kitchen is in a caravan. All the ingredients felt super fresh. I couldn’t help to look where they were cooking and the girl doing the burgers seemed to put so much love while doing the burgers that surprised me. Should definitely try.

love love love Good Good!!Their beef burger is seriously amazing!! 10:10 The new changes to the menu are awesome too, can’t wait to try the new Hallomanati Burger! Always such a great vibe and even better food. Awesome that they offer GF Buns free of charge!

I asked chat GPT where the best burgers were in dunedin, and good good was the first one! We went and ordered takeaways , and these burgers did not disappoint! We will definitely be returning customers when we come back to dunedin!

Good Good is my favourite restaurant, and their chicken burger is easily the best in Dunedin. The vibes are high, the staff are friendly, and the food comes out quick. 10/10!

Nestled in the charming town of Ophir, Pitches Store is a delightful seasonal inn that beautifully marries contemporary luxury with its rich 130-year history. This stone building offers cozy rooms and features a stylish restaurant where guests can indulge in exquisite comfort food, such as lamb paired with gooseberry chutney and braised beef cheek, all complemented by fine New Zealand wines. Pitches Store also participates in the Eat.Taste.
This is the kind of place you don't forget! I've dined here several times, all for differing occasions, always leaving extremely impressed with the food, service and atmosphere! Our last visit included our teenage boys, who are also foodies, rated their meal very highly as their first taste of three course finer dining. Thank you to Colleen and the team for providing our area with such a special place to frequent 🙏🙂

Had dinner at this charming place on one of the nights we were riding the Otago Central Rail Trail. We were collected from our accommodation and given a tour of the quaint town of Ophir, then dropped back home at the end of the night. Fabulous courtyard, beautiful meals and very friendly service. Highly recommend this place for dinner.

Fabulous hotel and cafe/restaurant. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Bedroom was on the smaller side, but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. The room opened out into a nice courtyard with seating and views of the surrounding mountains. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Both meals were 10/10. There's a nice wine list with excellent by the glass options. The cafe served nice food and awesome coffee. The bonus was the spa pool. We jumped in at 8pm and watched the stars appear in the dark sky as we lolled in the warm water - luxury.

After a full on day 1 on the rail trial, Colleen was an amazing host, everything was so beautiful. Dinner cooked by chef Sousz was one of the best meals we had had in a long time. Superb. We had the most divine afternoon evening. Sue looked after us for breakfast & made a great coffee. It was what we needed to get back riding into the wind. Thank you from Jaz & Rob

We recently stayed at Pitches Store when riding the Rail Trail and loved our experience. We felt really welcomed in and everything we needed was right there. The rooms were comfy and well appointed, the food was delicious and the staff were so friendly. Highly recommend.

What a charming little café! Being from Australia, I felt so welcomed by the warm and friendly staff. The coffee is fantastic, and the food is absolutely delicious. Next time, I’d love to stay the night and soak in more of this cozy atmosphere. I’ll definitely be making it a regular stop whenever I’m in the area!

Four of us arrived for breakfast at the cafe to a very grumpy and rude greeting and made to feel most unwelcome. Such a bad start to a great day ahead so we decided to leave and go for breakfast at the Muddy Creek cafe just a few minutes away in Omakau where the service is excellent and the food is great.

Dunedin Airport

International airport
Airport
Dunedin Airport is a single terminal airport located in New Zealand's southeast corner, serving international flights. It offers convenient and affordable car rental options from various domestic and international companies. There are several nearby service stations for refueling, such as Z-Mosgiel and Z-Green Island. Travelers can easily access the airport by flying in or embarking on a scenic road trip from Christchurch or Queenstown. Car rentals are available 24/7 at multiple locations.
What a pleasant experience you show up at the airport. Very friendly people, Air New Zealand or Jetstar. We checked our bags. The airport has regular couches. You can relax on beautiful seating. They actually have a chef at the restaurant. It's quite nice they have a game room for kids. They have really everything to make you comfortable at the airport. I wish more US airports were like this place.

Arrived one morning here. It was an autumn entrance. Dunedin Airport is uniquely situated near the shoreline, offering impressive views of the surrounding landscape. As you approach the runway, the sight of hills and meadows encircling the airport creates a peaceful and striking atmosphere—whether you’re landing or taking off, the scenery adds a special touch to the journey. Though small, the airport is modern and well-equipped, making it a convenient spot for both departing and arriving visitors. The layout is easy to navigate, ensuring a smooth experience from check-in to boarding. There’s plenty of parking available, and the access to both the departure and arrival halls is straightforward, adding to the overall ease of travel.

Can't be compared to the big 3,but as a regional airport it's right up there. When I arrived here everything was winding down for the last flight out. But all staff were pleasant and helpful, parking and ease of use made it a breeze 😉.

Not the greatest if picking up someone from plane. You now need to park in the parking lot and hope their plane lands on time and the baggage belt flows, because you only get 15 min free parking . 1/2 hour would be more reasonable. Or just wait somewhere on the side of the road and arrive at parking lot and aim to pick up 10min after plane lands. So- dont go into parking lot u til then. Hopefully then the 15min may be enough time to pick up for free.

Air New Zealand lounge is fabulous! The airport is slick, modern with a few cafes My main moan would constantly being publically patted down every time my bra pings the xray machine. Every time - shoes off, cardigans off, jacket off, scarf off which basically leaves me wearing a tiny dress, bra and panties. Its cold, I feel exposed publically and then I get a public pat down of my breast area and my tummy. It's humiliation at its finest and the staff member that told me to " smile" while in the body scanner needs to work on his professionalism and his kindness. He would be mortified if someone treated his mother or his daughter like that! It's not funny and it's not necessary and it smacks of sexism. Staff on security are never very friendly- it’s not a super pleasant experience. The team really need to take a long hard look at their communication skills and polish them up.

Dunedin Airport – Small, clean, and easy to navigate I’ve only used Dunedin Airport for domestic flights, and it’s always been a smooth experience. The airport is small and very manageable, with short walking distances and a calm atmosphere. It’s clean and well-organised, with friendly staff and quick check-ins. International arrivals are rare, so don’t expect the services or size of a major hub – but for domestic travel, it works perfectly. A practical and stress-free starting or ending point for exploring the South Island.

No coffee or snacks are available after you pass through security until 10mins before your flight boards. Then it’s a huge rush and chaos to try and assist everyone waiting. They don’t even have a vending machine. This is definitely not a modern first world airport.

Small but not regional sized for sure. Overall, was still pleasant looking inside, however there is a ton of construction going on right now that can make finding your gate confusing as well as driving around the front and not going down the parking lot ticket side. An Air NZ check-in baggage belt was also broken today so the lines were held up. Other than that, there's a handful of shops inside and I'm assuming at least one restaurant although we didn't stop to look. One thing I have to particularly call out in a great way is the accessible dual flush toilet buttons, best ones I've ever seen, that should work especially well for the blind.
