Staryy Vladimir

Museum
Heritage museum
Staryy Vladimir is home to a converted 1912 water tower that now serves as a museum and viewing platform. The red-brick tower houses a multistorey exhibit showcasing everyday objects from the city's history, including old clocks and stopwatches. Visitors can climb the curving staircase to reach the observation deck, which offers stunning 360-degree views of Vladimir, with the Klyazma River meandering into the distance and golden church domes dotting the landscape.
A very interesting museum with a great view from the top. It feels a bit overlooked by tourists, but is really worth the time since it really gives a detailed look into Vladimir's history through XIX to early XX centry.
Molotilkin — Google review
The nineteenth century life of Vladimir is well depicted here. Models of shops like clocks, office, people working in the offices, house materials, are all exhibited here. One can understand the quality of life and the style of life are visible through this exhibits. This is an educational process that will shed light on the history of Vladimir. Anyone who visits Vladimir can visit this place if one is interested in the evolution of life in Vladimir.

(Translated by Google) The place is just great! There are three in one here: a former water tower building with unusual architecture, a small interesting museum with very funny newspaper articles about life in Vladimir in the 19th century, and an excellent observation deck on the top floor of the tower. We specially planned it so that we could be there at sunset, it was very beautiful ❤️ (Original)

(Translated by Google) An ancient tower with a small museum inside and an excellent observation deck at the top. The views are wonderful! The museum is very interesting, the caretakers are happy to tell you something additional. A small exposure - you won't get tired. Inexpensive and good souvenirs. The inside of the tower building is very interesting.

(Translated by Google) It is interesting to learn about the life of the townspeople. Museum workers are not very helpful. They did not show the slightest interest in the visitors, did not say a word to help them become interested in the exhibition, and were clearly burdened by our presence. There is no toilet in the museum. There was not a single visitor except us. But the ministers insisted on masks. And about 20 minutes before closing they began to pack up and set off the alarm. Formally, no one is obliged to entertain guests. But if a city is developing a tourism business, its guests must be loved.

(Translated by Google) Interesting historical museum! A little bonus: if you come on Sunday after 15:00, entry will be free. If possible, visit the museum with a tour, you won’t regret it, it’s very informative! The tower is crowned with an observation deck, offering a beautiful panorama at any time of the year. I hope we will return in the summer. Dom-Muzey Pryanika

Museum
Specialty Museums
Dom-Muzey Pryanika is a family-friendly museum that celebrates the art of gingerbread. Visitors can enjoy classes, exhibits, and tea pairings at this charming museum. The museum also offers chocolate-making programs and guided tours where guests can learn about the history of chocolate and create their own sweets with various fillings and designs. Additionally, there is a souvenir shop featuring delicious gingerbread cookies, mead tastings, and handmade crafts from local artisans.
Nice place to visit with small kids. They offer small tour about history of ginger bread. Followed by a work shop to draw on ginger bread. And tee drinking event at the end. Kids age of 7-9 liked it so much. Friendly staff. They smile. Cash only. Otherwise good.

(Translated by Google) We attended a master class on making chocolates with children. Making the chocolates takes about 20 minutes. The children don't have time to get tired. After the master class, tea with Ivan tea and gingerbread. And a fascinating lecture on the history of chocolate. The room is a bit cramped. But overall it's comfortable. We liked it with the children. And the chocolates turned out delicious.

(Translated by Google) Disappointment at the Gingerbread Museum: Rudeness, Insolence, and a Complete Lack of Comfort I rarely write negative reviews, but this museum deserves an exception. From the first moments of my visit, it was clear that there's a complete disregard for visitors. The receptionist at the entrance wasn't just impolite—she was downright rude, as if I owed her something. No smile, no basic greeting—only irritation in her voice. But the most shocking moment occurred when, during the tour, a museum employee barged into the restroom without knocking or warning. I was horrified—how could such a rude violation of personal boundaries be tolerated? It's not just unprofessional, it's a direct threat to the comfort and safety of guests. After that, even being in this place became unpleasant. The only person who brightened the visit at all was Malena, the workshop leader. She really tried her best, was welcoming, and professional. But one good employee can't compensate for the disgusting attitude of the rest of the staff. The apotheosis of tactlessness was the "gift" at the end—they simply shoved a bag of some crooked, poorly made gingerbread (clearly a defect) into my hands, without even bothering to apologize for the incident. This isn't a gesture of goodwill—it's yet another manifestation of a disregard for the situation. Conclusion: if you value your nerves, time, and self-esteem, avoid this place. There's no respect for guests or basic decency here. A museum? More like a bad example of how not to work with visitors.

(Translated by Google) Oh-oh-oh-oh, what a delight!!!🤩🤩🤩 The delight of the city, the walk to the forge, the Borodins’ forge itself, the blacksmith Eduard - that’s the talent of the storyteller!!!, and the process of forging a nail with his own hands😄👍... The hour flies by in one breath! You plunge headlong into an interesting story about forging: the history of this craft, the process and “simple” secrets, tools and, of course, the people who chose this craft for themselves. Or maybe it’s the other way around)), this craft itself chose them😃! One thing becomes clear, blacksmiths are special people😊: they thought so before, and so it is now! Look at the impressive works of the masters, listen to the story, and try to forge a nail yourself! At first, everyone is a little monstrous: both men and especially women 😆😆😆. But the process and the result pleases everyone! The master, of course, helps and controls everything. We left feeling like we had a great time!!! There is no parking nearby, this is a walking street. Tickets: 550 RUR for adults, 450 RUR for children (summer 2021)!!! Entrance for each group at a certain time, which is announced at the checkout. The tour lasts approximately an hour. Hence the wait for the next performance is no more than an hour +-5 minutes. My entire family unanimously declared this place a “MUST VISIT in Vladimir”)))!

Monument to Duke Vladimir I of Kiev (956-1015) and Monk Theodore the Baptists of local lands. Vladimir founded first settlement here in 990 A. D. About Theodore we only know that he was the Greek and was the founder of the Rostov and Suzdal Bishopric and became first Bishop of mentioned bishopric in 992 A. D. On the background is the Cathedral of Holiest Assumption of Virgin Mary the Mother of God, built in 1158-1189 according to orders of Duke Andrey of Vladimir and Suzdal (1111-1174) also known as Andrey Bogolyubsky (Godloving). On the side bas-relief are Saint Elias of Murom, Saint Sophia of Suzdal, Saint and Equal to Apostles Duchess Olga and Saint Duke Alexander Nevsky.

(History Museum). This is a museum that mostly tells the story of Vladimir. Although the building itself looks like an old building, the display inside this building is made neat and seems very contemporary so it is interesting for visitors to see. This historical museum provides in-depth evolutionary data about humans living in this area. From the stone age to the 19th century. All items in this museum relate to aspects of human life from simple equipment made of wood, bones, iron, to equipment for sewing clothes, printing equipment, children's toys including dolls Everything on display is an outline of human life and the early history of the city of Vladimir to develop into what it is today. Worthy and very interesting to see. Before you go home please walk to the left of the entrance gate and find there a souvenir shop that sells a variety of souvenirs from Vladimir in particular and from Russia in general. Good stuff and interesting souvenirs.

(Translated by Google) Hello to all readers! I'll tell you about the perfume master class there. It's like in the "expectation-reality" meme. In the photos for the presentation of this master class, there is an openwork tablecloth, and flasks with antique oils, and a board with pyramids and components that the presenter talks about. Forget it. You will be taken to a stuffy room, where there is transparent oilcloth on the table, and in boxes there will be a few bottles with pipettes. There is no board, the presenter briefly said about the pyramid and how to make perfume now, from her statement that "expensive perfumes hold up better" it became clear that she understands little about perfumery, if anything. She did not say anything from what was stated in the advertisement, she just sat on the phone while those present mixed their perfume. The master class was held mostly in silence, the presenter answered questions that periodically arose sharply and rudely, as if everyone was bothering her here. Of course, you don't expect much from 600 rubles for a master class, but this is really bad. I don't know the host's name, because she didn't even introduce herself to us. I don't recommend it.

It was the city day, there was no one in the museum, it was very comfortable. There were two exhibitions on the third floor, both were beyond praise! I did not expect it to be so interesting and atmospheric. After the third floor, there was less energy and strength on the second floor, and after such an impression, the paintings on the walls seemed less exciting and we quickly went through both halls. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendliest women at the entrance and on the third floor. On the second floor, everything is strict and not at all nice (including the workers 😁). In general, the museum is excellent, modern. Interactive first floor, amazing reading room and tea room. Natalya Mikhailovna is the best thing that happened to this museum! Can I ask where, and most importantly, why did the children's exhibition from the 1st floor go?! The exhibition was so lively and interactive that it was interesting to both adults and children. It could be used to show and tell a child how their ancestors lived, but now all the halls are EMPTY!!!! And the exhibition itself is located in the CORRIDOR! This is just a ridiculous and absurd disgrace of a museum!!! Instead of an exhibition, there is now a completely empty library with fashionable ottomans and tables that no one needs. The presence of a library in itself is a significant plus, but it should clearly be an addition to the museum, and not its key point. I came to the museum with my children not to study the modern design of tables, chairs and sofas, but to show them the history of the city in which they live. Bravo to Ekaterina Vladimirovna Pronicheva for destroying the museum and erasing history, you are a talent! Soho is a delightful dining destination that stands out for its inviting two-story interior and vibrant atmosphere. Known primarily for its exceptional steaks, this restaurant also offers a variety of other menu items, including tasty soups and hearty burgers. While the food quality is commendable, be prepared for longer wait times during busy periods like weekends or holidays—sometimes even 30 minutes just for soup! Planned to celebrate my son's birthday there. Planned everything a great in advance-reserved place, requested for a cake. On a whim, decided to check in the evening if all was in place. Nothing was. Nobody there knew about the cake. Asked if I could get a cake from elsewhere. Was told categorically to buy it only from a specific bakery, which as my continuing rotten luck would have it, did not have one. So, the birthday treat to my son was a total disaster. Had a drink each, and cut from there. Wouldn't step in again-food is secondary, the patron needs to come first.

Restaurant
Located in the historical core of ancient Vladimir near the Cathedral Square, Panorama restaurant offers a breathtaking view of the city. Despite being somewhat hidden, this cozy Russian eatery surprises visitors with its stunning panoramic vista and delicious cuisine. While not ideal for vegetarians, there are still plenty of menu options to enjoy. The restaurant is known for its outstanding service and delectable food, making it one of the best dining spots in Vladimir. Guests highly recommend making reservations to secure a table with a view.
We found this place on our own. It’s location makes it somewhat a surprise. But once you walk through inconspicuous archway, a breathtaking view opens up of entire plane upon which this city rests, and then right there in front of you this cozy very russian and very tasty place. This is not a place for a vegetarian, which is what I am. Nevertheless, there were enough items on the menu to fill me up. (Cappuccino mushroom soup sounds counterintuitive but I was hungry and it was worth it). Come for the views, stay for the food and lively live entertainment in the evening.

Outstanding service. The food was delicious and the view is incredible! One of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Vladimir. Highly recommend! Make sure you make reservations to ensure you have a table with a view!

In early June, or rather it was the 4th, we came to Vladimir from Moscow, it was terribly cold, but in this restaurant it was warm, cozy, hospitable and all dishes ordered by us are very tasty. We arrived in Russia from Texas, after Vladimir our journey lasted almost two months, there were two more countries and of course other restaurants, but the staff of the Panorama restaurant left pleasant memories. Thanks guys. Angela Dallas, Texas

Nothing special, overpriced, duck was cold and they do not know what "confit" means and how to cook it, mushrooms were below average, pickles are ok, but just ok... Very disappointed, the score on Google maps seems to be faked... On Yandex maps they have 3/5 and that's a true score for this place.

Питейный дом "Купца Андреева" is not just a brew pub, it also offers delicious food. The self-brewed beers are of good quality and the service is quick and friendly. The cozy atmosphere adds to the overall experience. It's recommended to grab the two seats table by the narrow window on the left side for a more intimate setting.
Not only a brew pub but also imho serves very good food. Ate dinner here a few times and wasn't disappointed even once. A few types of self brewed beers, in the good to very good range (as craft beers tend to be). Nice waitresses, quite fast service. Cozy ambience. Tip: if two people, get the two seats table by the narrow window in the left side of the room.

Don't be misleaded by its high rating in Google Maps. It might have been ok place previously, but now it is a touristic place with awful food at the high price. Soup is empty like a cup of water, teapot is only with a pinch of tea, half of a menu is missing. So skip this place and switch to another.

The only thing that didn’t suit us was potato pancakes with a lot of flour. And so, in general, we did not leave hungry or upset. Well, we were amazed that highly moral people work here, they even prop the doors with books! (Translated by Google) Great place: cozy interior, delicious food, pleasant service. Caesar is good, pork steak is on a real grill, chicken wings are slightly burnt. But fried dumplings were disappointing: too small for a fork, taste so-so and sweet sauce is not appropriate for them at all. (Translated by Google) Very interesting interior. Cozy. Stylish. Like a merchant))) we didn't eat anything special there. We went in to have some coffee. Unfortunately, they don't brew coffee in a Turk, only a "coffee machine" one...it was a pity. It seems to me that it would be very cool for them to brew coffee...but no) they brew beer, but not coffee. Well, since we were drinking coffee and it was so interesting inside, we decided to try their desserts...in the photo there is a strudel with apples and sour cream cake...these, with all due respect, are not really desserts))) they promised sour cream cake as a sponge cake with sour cream cream...it's not cream at all. It's 15% sour cream with sugar, poured on top of an unformed...fallen sponge cake. Strudel...well, I don't know how you can ruin strudel?)))) It always works in the most average electric oven with convection! It works! If you are not a clumsy housewife))) in general .. in almost raw dough, without any crust at all, the filling of apples is wrapped.... at first I even thought that these were pancakes. Everything is sweet, edible, but not appetizing and not of high quality. We did not return to eat here, although we wanted to, the interior and the name were very tempting)))) But nevertheless, the toilet is clean. And with care for smoking customers, a smoking room is right inside the establishment, for which we were grateful. Maybe the beer there is good?

(Translated by Google) We ordered three dishes: broccoli soup, pizza with ham and mushrooms (I don’t remember the name), lasagna. We also tried to order vitamin tea, but there was no mint in the restaurant, and almost all vitamin teas contain this ingredient. The soup didn’t look bad, but the portion was tiny (half a rug) without salt and spices, the pizza was so-so, also by the way, without taste or smell. But the lasagna “exceeded all expectations” - without bechamel sauce... When the waitress asked about the cook, she honestly answered “new.” I do not recommend this establishment (Original) (Translated by Google) I am adding to the review on 06/25/24. Approximately 13.00: Arriving in Vladimir, a visit to Pepperoni is always included in the trip schedule. Only this time, I note that for the first time since the establishment opened in the city - I am so disappointed! We ordered cappuccino, aldente carbonara, aldente bolognese, 2 focaccia with all the toppings. They brought coffee: they brought normal, hot coffee to my husband, but they gave me cold coffee and the foam had time to settle by half, and the bubbles were large, which indicates that they either forgot about the coffee or it was someone’s first time making it. I asked them to change it, but they did it, although it was more coffee milk. I was surprised, but I wanted something hot and drank it. Then they brought focaccia without basil and tomato - we had to say again that we asked for it with all the toppings - they added it separately in gravy boats. Pasta is a separate issue. We go to Pepperoni because the pasta is handmade and they cook it perfectly. This time I am completely disappointed! The pasta, whether for carbonora or bolognese, was overcooked - it was impossible to pick it up with a fork - it simply tore. al dente is never torn with a fork, because it should be almost cooked, which is called a clove. I quote: “Al dente is the state of culinary readiness of pasta or rice as hard when bitten. In modern Italian cooking, this term refers to the ideal consistency of pasta and implies a short cooking time.” Immediately we received overcooked pasta! Moreover, there was no taste of carbonara at all. I can’t even imagine how it was possible to ruin the dish on all counts. There was no time to reorder. So, I made it through half of it, realizing that the next time I would eat no earlier than 9 pm and I would have to go back to Moscow. I explained this situation to the administrator, who said that she would exclude carbonara from the bill, but even here it was a deception - carbonara was on the bill. The cook who came out did not admit the mistake and began to ask me with an insolent face: “What does carbonara taste like to you?” She didn't admit the mistake or apologize. I answer YOU: the taste of carbonara is all those pastas that I ordered BEFORE this day. I always take the same thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a weekend and there was a rush, but it was Tuesday and the place was empty (3 tables with couples is an empty place). The husband ate the bolognese with the words - “I ate it because I was really hungry. The first time I eat at Pepperoni is without delight and pleasure - like in a canteen.” I definitely won’t recommend anyone to go to Pepperoni again when coming to Vladimir. Just to avoid embarrassment. Very disappointed! Every dish came with a joint! And by the way, I heard how someone was very unhappy that I refused cold coffee and the poor waitress even had to ask to try it to prove that it was cold. This time we didn’t even leave a tip; we left so upset that we didn’t even want to! People come to a cafe or any other establishment to enjoy the atmosphere, the taste of their favorite dishes, and the service. Otherwise, you can eat at home or eat a burger at a “famous establishment.” I hope that you will teach chefs to cook or hire those who really love to cook and do not sell dishes haphazardly. And by the way, be that as it may, even if the cook is very confident in himself, he needs to apologize, at least for the overcooked pasta, and then there’s “what do you think carbonara tastes like?!” Nightmare.

Time was getting closer to evening, and after the spiritual food that we had been actively satiating with all day, it was time to think about bodily food. We are walking along the street behind the shopping rows and cannot choose, because there are catering points here literally every 3 meters. We stop, read the menu, move on: everything is somehow not right. We looked here. I liked the interior. This, coupled with our already tiredness, predetermined our choice. We met, sat down, and introduced ourselves to the waiter(s). Well, since “Salmon” is in the name, we decided to stick with fish + white wine. The Riesling was well chilled and served in a bucket of ice (respect!). And the fish from local reservoirs turned out to be amazingly good. And the service was fast, correct and unobtrusive. And the final price turned out to be quite reasonable (the establishment honestly deserved its tip). Our choice turned out to be correct. Thank you! I’m afraid I didn’t have a good experience at Hotel Vladimir. The walls and doors had no soundproofing, so I had to resort to earplugs so as not to be woken by the sound of shutting doors, snoring, etc... Moreover, there was a water shortage in the morning. I understand this is force majeure but still expect the hotel to offer a partial refund, even if a symbolic one. I would also have chosen a hotel closer to all the restaurants and churches of the city centre.

Many thanks to the workers of Ivanovo airport for their responsiveness and professionalism! Special thanks to Tatyana Yuryevna Mineeva! Just a golden man! If it weren’t for her, my friend would have had to go to Moscow to the airport, but Tatyana Yuryevna figured out the situation, which helped a lot. Thank you very much again!

(Translated by Google) Small airport. In the waiting area (greeters), it is very hot in summer, there is no ventilation, there is a small buffet. The staff is friendly! In the departure area there is a small area for children with tables and crayons, there is no buffet, there is a machine with coffee and drinks, but the drinks are hot (the refrigerator does not work). In general, you can fly, but it’s probably better to arrive later so as not to be here!

(Translated by Google) Everything is nice and homely. It doesn’t feel like you’re about to go to jail because you blinked an extra time, like in big airports. And you can watch TV and there are no people around. At the same time, there are no complaints about the quality of work of the employees on the passenger side) The restroom is a bit dirty and there are no hygiene products, but hopefully this is temporary. There is a children's room for post-apocalypse games.

(Translated by Google) By chance, fate brought me to these untraveled places and I saw here a rare island of “SovDep” in the vast expanses of my homeland. Ambivalent impression. It’s sad because you understand how miserable, grey, dejected, ugly... the Motherland looked under the communists, and it’s joyful that time is erasing these “monuments” from our lives, dissolving them without a trace with its gentle flow. This is a typical building, I have definitely seen such buildings at least in Arkhangelsk and Kaliningrad and I am sure that there were many of them. The airport now is a rather sad sight, empty, the passage to the second floor is closed, there are no people, no shops, no restaurants... no drive, no anticipation of the joy of flying, no what you get used to when traveling around civilized countries. In general, guys, if you miss the USSR, then come here, but there’s nothing good to do here!!!

(Translated by Google) For a regional airport, everything is very good. The staff is friendly. There’s just nowhere to eat, and in the waiting room after going through passport control there isn’t even a vending machine with snacks.
