Bodies of Water
Peasholm Park in Scarborough is a captivating oriental-themed park featuring Japanese statues, pagodas, and replica boat battles. It's a popular destination for leisurely strolls, picnics, and various activities like mini-golf and boating on the lake. The park boasts a rich history and has received accolades such as the Green Flag Award. Visitors can explore its picturesque gardens, bridges, streams, and waterfalls while enjoying open-air concerts at the bandstand.
Gorgeous park with a cafe serving tasty food and drinks including vegan ice-cream. Lots of birds, squirrels and a lake and streams/small waterfalls. We come here every time we holiday in the Scarborough area. There are disabled toilets and my husband can navigate about 95% of the park using his electric wheelchair. There were cute goslings there this time round and there are plenty of ducks, gulls and geese with a few swans also gracing visitors with their regal presence. Definitely worth a visit, with boat rides and picturesque walks etc to keep you active Lots of benches and there are a few covered areas if it starts to rain.
S O — Google review
The park has multiple entrances, includes a lake (with island), pedalos (dragon boats), cafe, mini golf etc. We visited straight after having some train rides just over the road. There was a bit of a wait for the dragon boats, but it is the school summer holidays...! We comfortably fitted the whole family in... although I regretted being volunteered by the kids to do the peddling!
Andrew C — Google review
Fabulous walk around the lake with paths suitable for all mobilities. Also woodland walks, again with proper paths. Wild animals and water fowl to watch. Plenty of seating. Nice little cafe
Cath F — Google review
Not been for too many years but getting back remember why I love it. The walk around the lake is lovely watching the birds and plenty of seating so you can watch the world go by. Wonderful little piece of tranquility in a crazy world.
Steve D — Google review
Stunning park close to North Bay beach. The park has something for everyone. The main attraction would be the pedal boats. There is an elevated island in the middle with an oriental building to the top. There is ample seating and toilet facilities. You can also observe wildlife here. Very well designed gardens. Great place for family picnics.
Legends L — Google review
Lovely setting. Enjoyed the walk around the lake, Didn't go on the paddle boats but they looked great and didn't seem overly expensive. Really nice Chinese style buildings and a gazebo with a band stand in the middle of the lake.
Nigel W — Google review
A little gem of peace and quiet, just a couple of minutes from Scarborough North Beach. We visited in mid-September. Lots of waterfowl, grey squirrels begging for food. There's a cafe with very pleasant, friendly staff and lots of benches to sit and watch the birds on the lake.
John D — Google review
Beautiful setting, perfect place to switch off and relax away from the hustle. Woodland, boating lake, streams and water falls. Lots to see, geese, ducks, swans, squirrels all really friendly. Boating lake with dragon pedalos, and rowing boats, cafe on site. Theres a long stay car park straight across the road.

Scarborough Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Scarborough Castle is a magnificent medieval fortress located on a rocky promontory in North Yorkshire, offering breathtaking views of the North Sea and the town of Scarborough. The castle has a rich history dating back to the Iron Age, with its earliest fortifications built in the 12th century. Its strategic location between the North Bay and South Bay made it an important defensive stronghold during historic wars. Today, visitors can explore its expansive grounds and attend live events while enjoying its stunning coastal vistas.
Wonderful visit to a unique castle site. The castle is ruined, but the site has amazing views in all directions. Very pleasant walk around the hilltop. Viewing platform in the top of the curtain wall is not to be missed. Definitely worth buying tickets online the day before to get a good discount. Cafe for good drinks and snack. Good toilets and gift shop. Well worth a visit.
David P — Google review
We used our English Heritage membership for entry to Scarborough castle for a slightly more relaxed hour or two after visiting a rather busy south bay area! The walk up the hill to the castle was broken up by a quick play on the playground... Upon entering we was given the option of audio guides and also advised that there was some taskmaster activities, which obviously appealed to the kids as they have limited attention for actually going round the castle ruins! After listening and reading about some of the history we proceeded to the taskmaster activities, given instruction on how it runs and got started. There were 6 activities in total, all slightly different. These are great if you can be in a group of 4 to 6 people (with one acting as the scorer / judge for points). Kids (and grown ups) all enjoyed this and it was a bit different! After taking some 'winner' photos we carried on round the headland. The views from the headland / castle are wonderful, and there is so much history to learn about. They did have some guided tours which when I listened in on one sounded really informative! It's useful as a reminder that in terms of a castle there is not much left, you can climb part of the keep and walls and walk round the headland area. We enjoyed our visit, and the weather being pretty good certainly helped!
Andrew C — Google review
Visited while we were in Scarborough for a few days. Bit of a climb if you’re walking but worth it. The castle itself has much to explore and there’s a surprisingly large meadow to walk around too. Epic views all around. Shop, Cafe and seating on site. It was a lovely day when we went but given its location I’m pretty sure you will feel the elements if you catch it on a bad day!
Jonny T — Google review
A magnificent ruined abbey, very atmospheric and well interpreted by the audio tour and guide book. The car park y just outside the site and entry with pre-booked tickets was straightforward. The gift shop is very well stocked and just about managed not to overdo the Dracula connection! The cafe is good but the whole site would benefit from provision of more toilet facilities.
John D — Google review
An amazing monument and historical site. There are 16 acres to explore and plenty of history. The interactive aspect via the audio tour is very good and it wasn't too crowded when we attended. There was a small cafe and public conveniences. There is a lot of walking to get to it and a lot of uneven ground, so those with mobility issues might be challenged. All in all a great experience.
Mark C — Google review
Great impressions from the visit. Very beautiful overview of the entire coast. There is a cafe, a place for children to have fun, an ice cream van. At the entrance there is a souvenir shop. Free maps of all the attractions of Great Britain. Welcoming, friendly staff who are ready to help with any questions. For Ukrainians, the entrance is free. I definitely recommend visiting, you will definitely not regret visiting.
Serghei L — Google review
National Heritage site. Beautiful views over both the North Bay and the South Bay. Great place to walk along the cliff path. Exhibitions to see, refreshments available at the Refreshment Shed. Clean public conveniences. Plenty of picnic tables and games for kids Access to most mobilities, quite a steep road and slope up to the castle itself. No problems for mobility scooter but a hard slog for people who have weakened walking. Weather on the day we visited was glorious, if a little windy
Cath F — Google review
Visited today with my wheelchair bound mother, we were initially concerned regarding wheelchair access but the gentleman on the gate was extremely helpful and allowed me to drive into the Castle grounds and park closer. Whilst pushing the wheelchair over the grassed areas and sloped sections proved to be a bit of a challenge, it didn't stop us from having a wonderful experience and see some magnificent views. The coffee hut provided us with welcomed refreshments and scones and there were plenty of seating areas, some that catered for wheelchair users too. All of the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful too. The Audio Guide Devices are a great idea, they allow you to navigate the site at your own pace and gives you the freedom to roam around at will. Our visit excelled my expectations, so I do recommend a visit. 👍🏻

Scarborough Spa

The Scarborough Spa is a grand Victorian building located on the cliffs overlooking the beach, offering a variety of entertainment options for visitors. The complex includes the Grand Hall, which can accommodate large audiences, and the Spa Theatre with seating for over 600 people. In addition to these venues, there are several other spaces within the complex for different events and gatherings. Despite its historical appearance, the spa is equipped with modern facilities and is home to one of the last seaside orchestras in the country.
We had our dream wedding made a reality thanks to the Scarborough Spa! We booked the Sun Court after our first look around with the fantastic Naomi, who painted a vivid picture of how stunning our day could be at this historic and breathtaking venue. We had always admired it from afar, but it is even more beautiful when inside and set up for a special day. We booked not only due to this, but how much we felt we could trust Naomi and the team to handle something as special as our wedding & were proven right many times over. Nothing was too much trouble for the team & the dream never too big, with every suggestion or request we made (including on the day!) met with a smile and a “no problem, of course we can”. We and our guests were floored and were raving about the service and how friendly all of the spa team were and how they had understood our vision as if it were their own. The food was another amazing highlight, with the daube of beef just MELTING when pressed with a fork and the vegetarian options met with surprise by our guests who chose them, at just how generous and considered they were. Wedding food can be incredibly generic, but the dishes really stood out and were another memorable part of the day. We could carry on forever about what we loved about our day; so will just say that we would absolutely recommend anyone on the fence to go ahead and book their big day here!
Thomas M — Google review
Absolutely great here lovely views of the coast from high ground. It is very hilly to walk around and the views are great. There is many amusements and gift shops plus many places to eat .

We had our wedding in the Sun Court and it was amazing from start to finish! From the moment of booking, to every part of our day, Naomi, and the team were outstanding! We had so many comments from our guests on, not only the stunning venue itself, but the gorgeous food and excellent service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it as a wedding venue, thank you so much to all the staff at Scarborough Spa.

The Scarborough Spa is a great building 😁 parking is either in local car parks or street parking which can be difficult in the height of the summer season so we parked on a paid for private driveway for £3.50 just 10 minutes away. Security getting into the gig was quick with polite staff👍 No food allowed inside but you could buy inside at reasonable prices or go out with your wristband pass. Plenty of bars and a decent amount of very clean ladies loos 😜 you could take a small bottle of water into the venue but the biggest annoyance - nowhere to refill if needed and as it was sweltering outside it was double sweltering inside🥵 The bands were as always fabulous 😍 the lights and sound quality inside the Spa are brilliant and you can move around the venue whenever you feel like a change of view 😁 really looking forward to Ferocious Dog there later in the year 💯🥰

Been here twice for Fortress Festival. Great venue in a beautiful location and it's nice to see that someone money has been spent on the upkeep over the past year too. That's certainly not something you see in London or most other parts of the country. Already looking forward to coming back in 2026!
Jackie S — Google review
Amazing venue for a festival. Absolutely loved the building and its architecture. The location couldn't be better, right on the coast of the North Sea.
Tim P — Google review
Fantastic location for a black metal festival. Very nice venue. Staff was very friendly. Plenty of bars. Great view.
Christian S — Google review
Fortress Festival amazing! Staff brilliant! Could do with checking up on the 2003 licensing act though. They tried to deny me water. Other than that great staff all round.

SEA LIFE Scarborough is a family-friendly sanctuary featuring a variety of sea creatures, including penguins, otters, sharks, and seals. The highlight is the Seal Hospital where rescued seal pups are nursed back to health before being released into the wild. With 12 themed zones offering interactive rides and displays, visitors can learn about marine life conservation while having fun. The sanctuary also offers group packages and VIP experiences such as breakfast with the seals.
The workers were very kind and passionate people. The exhibits, displays, and touch pool were very well taken care of. I enjoyed the entire experience, though not all animals were available for viewing at the time I arrived. It was a wonder to see the land and sea life at this aquarium. My fave was the chameleon at the rainforest exhibit! And absolutely adored the photos we took at the start of the tour. We just had to buy prints and downloads of the photos. Great experience!

Very good for adults and children. We found it very interesting and factual. We spent two and a half hours here, we didn't rush. You have to pay for parking which is not very much. I would recommend buying tickets online before you go as I paid full price which was £22.00 each. Had i booked online it would have been £16.00. But really good nevertheless.
Jonathan C — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to this sea life adventure. Easily accessible from town center via bus, it is open from 11-3. The tickets are affordable. Toilets as you enter and you can also take photographs which you get to buy later on in the trip. So many beautiful aquatic creatures in this well maintained habitat, the staff is very well informed and there are many places to rest during the trip. We spent 3 hours there and could have spent more if the only bus out was not running at 1350 (the next bus is 5 and sea life closes 3). Otter display was closed but the sharks and sea lions were our favorite. We got to see the sharks being fed and the gift shop was reasonably priced. We also met vipers! Each staff member was so friendly and lovely- thank you. Loved our visit and will go again.
Aromal N — Google review
Lovely day out for adults and children. Plenty to see and do. I advise coming for 11 am to see the animals being fed throughout the morning. Staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals, they were all happy to answer questions. We had lunch here also which wasn’t too badly priced and a decent selection available including veggie stuff.
Callum G — Google review
Visited with 2 friends using my Merlin Annual Pass and prebooked tickets to have cheaper tickets. We attended the Seal, Penguin and Shark/Ray feeds and talks. Niamh was amazing. The knowledge provided was educational but also fun. Engaging for both children and adults. Niamh’s visible love for the job made for an energy that was just contagious. She was very friendly and answered questions when asked by anyone. The only negative was that there was construction work being done on the Otter habitat meaning that we were unable to see them. This also meant there was drilling and digging causing loud noises and re-directions around the complex. However this did not affect our day. Just means we will have to come again when it re-opens next year. A Fintastic day was had by us all.
Dale F — Google review
OUT IF THIS WORLD!! I bought special tickets to to feed the Seals as a surprise for our 25th Wedding anniversary. This included a guided tour of the rest of the exhibits and our guide Bev was brilliant. We both use walking aids to get around and we didnt feel rushed. Once we made it to the seals we weee givena bucket of fish to feed them it was great to see them swimming round and catching the fish, we also got to feed the grey mullet. Included in the ticket was admission tickets to look round after the tour and a great breakfast cooked fresh, this was all before the doors actually opened to the public. We had also booked to go to the Deep a few days later, but we found ourselves comparing it to the sealife centre and felt let down because of how great the sealife centre was. If you have the chance to do something special then I recommend paying to feed the Seals. A big thank you to all the staff (especially Bev) at Scarborough Sealife centre for making our visit so special and memorable.
Iain M — Google review
We went here to go and see a wide variety of fish and to spend a bit of time in Scarborough too. We arrived at opening time and there was a very short queue as there was a school - even though it is half term - going in just before us which was no problem. We were told that the otters were closed due to refurbishment, disappointing but not a problem. Going in, it is a bottle neck.. there is a small tank with fish in (obviously, its a sealife centre) and everyone wants to stop and look (understandable). We wanted to be respectful and not put any pressure on families who went in first so we stayed back slightly to wait to be able to step forward and to look at the fish and get photos... however the amount of ignorant people just barging in was ridiculous and children not under control. Once we went round you go up a couple of stairs you see some more fish (obviously) and again as it is opening time it was slightly more busy and no one seemed to be aware of any other person around them... Going around it did thin out a lot so you could spend time looking at the variety of fish which is lovely. The seals and penguins were outside... so if it is raining... take an umbrella and wrap up warm! They were very cute though! The tunnel you walk under to see the sharks etc. was very short... As per normal you get a lot of children just charging around and parent being ignorant and ignoring their behaviour. To be able to get around the centre it is very confusing you have to go back on yourself a couple of times and there is no signs for direction or anything... leaving you going round and round. The centre is also very small, so for the money it doesn't feel worth it for the amount of time you are there. If you're expecting a grand day out, don't. If you're expecting somewhere that is small and nice to have a wander round for an hour to two hours at a push then this place is for you! I gave four stars because it is a lovely centre and the animals are very well looked after.
Kelly G — Google review
Booked online in advance. I loved this place and the staff are very knowledgeable and approachable, more than happy to answer any questions. So many different things to see and a very good restaurant if wanted or there are picnic tables near the otters to have your own food

The Rotunda Museum, a historic landmark opened in 1829, is a treasure trove of coastal heritage and geology. It houses an impressive collection of archaeological relics, including finds from the renowned Mesolithic site at Star Carr. Visitors can marvel at dinosaur footprints and fossils while exploring exhibits that showcase Yorkshire's Dinosaur Coast. With over 5,500 fossils on display, this iconic rotunda offers a captivating journey through time, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts.
What a fantastic little museum really friendly and helpful staff. Gorgeous building everything is laid out well very interesting will definitely be going back
Steve B — Google review
I didn't know what entirely expect from the museum, but it's really just a museum about geology and costal things. IT'S TINY and you will be out in just about 30 minutes, but then it's just a fiver. On the other hand, that grants you entry to the gallery too. You can go in the big oval room and then there are two more rooms. Really not the biggest. If it was not ant history of the town, I'd be giving 5*. But the entry is still reasonable unlike some other museums.
Ondra V — Google review
Small but interesting museum in a fascinating building. £5 entrance fee for both museums is good value.
David P — Google review
Small museum, but still some interesting exhibitions, especially the old maps/pictures of Scarborough. Visit takes around 30 minutes I would say, but I'd still recommend the Rotunda Museum. Buying a ticket also gives you admission to the Scarborough Art Gallery, so it's definitely worth the £5.
Tim P — Google review
Lovely little museum. They had great crafts and activities on the day we visited. They also had lots of activity sheets for the kids to do too. It was great to have the sensory back packs too. The play area is well thought out with lots of different activities and toys.
Erin P — Google review
Very interesting museum for everyone who is interested in topics such as fossils, biology, archeology, and similar. The museum seems to regularly host events. While we visited there was a fossil handling event going on. Everyone was extremely friendly and we learned a lot. It was very captivating.

Very small museum in Scarborough. The tickets cost 5 quid per person for an annual pass and it has a small display of fossils and further attraction for literary geeks.

Scarborough Open Air Theatre is a historic 6000-capacity arena located on an island in the middle of a lake. It has hosted well-known bands, opera performances, and various entertainment events. The theatre underwent significant refurbishment in 2010 and was reopened by The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Since then, it has welcomed renowned artists such as Elton John, Britney Spears, Noel Gallagher, Lionel Richie, Little Mix, and Lewis Capaldi.
Excellent venue. Easy to get to and to get around it as it's quite small. We were sat in 2 different places (low and high) in the White section for different shows and the sound and view was spot on for both. I definitely recommend going.
Rich G — Google review
Great venue, feels quite intimate she closer to the stage than other venues of the size. Seating is quite steep which means a better view of the stage, and reasonable leg room too. Several food options, and quite a few bar counters as well. Sound quality was pretty good, far too loud despite being so close to the stage, as can happen sometimes. Overall enjoyed watching Snow Patrol and support here, still keep an eye out for what's on next year
Jamie P — Google review
Visited Scarborough open air theatre this evening to see shed seven as well as opening acts. It is a lovely outdoor theatre with a very large capacity. The music atmosphere was great and obviously the band were amazing. Only thing that lets the venue down is the lack of bars / food to accommodate the large capacity of people! There were 2 bars to queue at for drinks but the lines went on forever so I didn’t bother and a gig is always better with booze!
Abi — Google review
Saw the Smashing Pumpkins here and they absolutely blew the roof off—figuratively, of course, since it’s open air! The venue itself is fantastic: great acoustics, brilliant atmosphere, and a layout that makes every spot feel close to the action. Getting in and out was a breeze, with loads of parking nearby and well-organized entry. It’s rare to find a live venue that nails both the vibe and the logistics, but this one does. Only downside? The prices for food and drink inside are steep—bring a full wallet or eat beforehand. But honestly, for a night like that, it was worth every penny. Already looking forward to the next gig!
Paul S — Google review
25 July 2025 - Texas ……..The most amazing venue. My new favourite place to see a concert. Easily accessible bars and toilets and such an amazing atmosphere. Fantastic concert too.
Karen H — Google review
Amazing venue that felt very intimate. We chose the tiered seating. From our view, you could see that the standing area was very narrow and main entry was from the left side as you look towards the stage. If you can definitely enter standing from the right side. The bars had literally no cues. Obviously food and drink pricing was quite high but that’s expected for any type of concert. Would love to visit again but not sure if it would be any good in the rain so that might put us off.
Becky B — Google review
Great outdoor music venue with good views wherever you sit. The weather was sunny, which made the experience even better. We went to see McFly and it's was a fantastic show.

Brilliant venue, really easy to get close and have an excellent view. Saw Judas Priest for the first time since the 80s and they rocked the place. Will definitely be back for more bands.

Scarborough Art Gallery, housed in a charming 19th-century Italianate villa, has been showcasing art since 1947. The gallery features a diverse collection of artworks, including both permanent and temporary exhibits from across the UK and around the world. Visitors can also enjoy a quaint cafe on-site. Additionally, the gallery often hosts temporary exhibitions with artwork from renowned artists. For those interested in history, the nearby Rotunda museum is worth exploring as well.
This is a little hidden gem tucked away in a beautiful crescent just off the city centre. When I visited they had a wonderful if compact exhibition of works by Atkinson Grimshaw and another of works produced by local prisoners, which was powerful and moving. And the staff were lovely - friendly and welcoming!
Steven F — Google review
£5 to get here and in tut rotunda museum. They have a temporary exhibition on the ground floor and paintings on the first floor. The best thing was seeing the scrap book that someone made in the last century. Ehm, the paintings are good too, but just not really my thing.
Ondra V — Google review
In Scarborough for a trip to the theatre and not very mobile at the moment, I decided to visit Scarborough Art Gallery. There is a charge of £5 but this is actually for an annual pass to the Art Gallery and the nearby Rotunda Museum. I explored the ground floor which had a small shop and 2 excellent exhibitions in place. I would have liked to go up to the first floor, but there is no lift and the beautifully sweeping staircase was a little too challenging for me on this occasion. Unfortunately the toilets are on the first floor.
Anne S — Google review
Fantastic exhibitions at Scarborough Art Gallery including East Coast Open Studios and Who Am I? Great local talent and some fascinating paintings of Scarborough's landmarks and people. Let's not forget the Atkinson Grimshaw Collection, too. Great staff, too. Well worth a visit if you're in the town. And there a new exhibits ready for Autumn 2023 are now ready to see.

Totally worth it for £5, which also includes admission to the Rotunda Museum. The exhibition 'Atkinson Grimshaw: At Home in Yorkshire' is gorgeous. The staff is friendly.
Tim P — Google review
Beautiful artwork. I was a bit dubious at first paying £5 each to get in, but the artwork moved me, so it made it worthwhile. It's not a big place, so we were only there around 15/20 mins.

Great place to visit and the current sand exhibition is very interesting. Created our own more eco friendly mortar, corn starch and sand in a 1:5 mix. Looks like there was something else next door as well but ran out of time. May be next time
Barry B — Google review
Outstanding gallery, definitely one of my favorites. A wonderful, charming, oasis, of creative calm. These days a small entry fee is required, three pounds. Which, considering, these extremely challenging, economic times we find ourselves in, is more than fair. Once purchased, it allows multiple visits. On this occasion I particularly, enjoyed the exhibition of newly restored, John Atkinson Grimshaw paintings. I really can't recommend this lovely gallery enough. If you're a local or a holidaymaker, take a little time out for a visit. Well worth it.

Scarborough Beach is a popular destination known for its fine, sandy seafront that extends from Scarborough Spa to the Grand Hotel Scarborough. Families often gather here when the North Sea waters recede during low tide. The beach park features two play areas, Railway Place and Pirate Place, as well as a Cotton Tree Forest with climbing opportunities for kids. Additionally, Scarborough's South Bay offers a variety of attractions such as arcades, sailboat rides, and renowned fish and chips from Harry Ramsdens.
Lovely beach, easily accessible and at least a part of it is dog friendly all year round. Much better than Whitby beach, which is not only difficult to access (down many steps/ramps) but only has a tiny section which is dog friendly during the summer, which is not well advertised.
Rachel R — Google review
Went on a sunny day but during the evening time, the parking is not so far from here, can park down the road or they have free parking underground after 6pm. The beach was nice and was not so busy but maybe this was on this particular day, the pier side with the shops was really busy. I'm sure if you go during peak sunlight hours it would be a great day out.

Had a fantastic day here a lovely place to visit. We went on a coach trip to Scarborough for the day and really enjoyed ourselves, unlike a lot of places there is plenty to do here. We had a great time looking around the shops on the front looking for bargains, all the shops were open which was nice to see. We went on the beach that was Clean. We also went on a speed boat ride (highly recommend) and we also found a great place to eat fish and chips and there was plenty of eating place to choose from. We will definitely go again fantastic day out.

Never been to Scarborough before and didnt realise how big it is. Stayed at the North Bay which has Sea Life and is quieter than the South Bay which has the amusement arcades. In between is Scarborough Castle and a lovely shopping area. Both beaches were very good. From Scarborough there are plenty of places to visit, Whitby, Bridlington, Filey, Robin Hoods Bay. Goid train station & bus services.

Scarborough Beach is a wonderful place to visit, full of tourists, energy, and a very welcoming atmosphere. The beach itself is beautiful, with plenty of new experiences, great people, and excellent food options all around. It is definitely one of the highlights of the town. However, after playing a few games in Gilly’s Casino, I had an unpleasant moment when two employees made a racist comment as I was leaving. I chose to ignore it, but it was disappointing, especially as this was the first time I’ve experienced anything like this in my three years of living here. Overall, Scarborough Beach is an amazing destination that I highly recommend to travelers. It offers a mix of fun, culture, and relaxation, and is truly a must-visit spot despite the isolated negative experience I had at the casino.

Absolutely stunning sandy beach. Clean & tidy beach for a long walk. Dog friendly even feel not good for young kids. Seems very popular among kids because there were a lot of kids were busy playing and enjoying time at beach. First time visited here and really enjoyed as it was a good bright day. Very well maintain, no litter at least. Plenty of shops, pubs and cafes around. Beautiful views around of harbour and castle on top of the hill specially. Highly recommend

Scarborough Harbour

Scarborough Harbour is a historic and picturesque destination in North Yorkshire, offering a self-guided walking tour of its old town and waterfront. Established in the 13th century, the harbor is located between South Bay Beach and Marine Drive, providing level paved surfaces for easy exploration. Visitors can capture stunning photos of the colorful fishing boat fleet while enjoying fresh seafood from various eateries.
Went to see the Spanish Gallon Nao Victoria moored up in the harbour for 1 week. This reproduction of the vessel that circumnavigated the globe in the 1500, lovely glimpse back in time.

We stopped on the visitor moorings for 2 nights. Its a fab marina. Decent enough facilities. Nice pontoons. All the staff were friendly. The berthing master Chris was fantastic. Looked after us and made us really welcome. We had an awesome stay here.

What a lovely place to visit. The decor and atmosphere were really good. Took us back to sunny summer holidays here and in the U.S. The owner was there on our visit being interviewed by BBC Look North which provided extra interest. Quality ice cream treats and drinks.

Visited September 2018 - Scarborough lives up to every fondly-celebrated cliché. Tangy, salty, moisture-laden air carries the low tide’s waft of seaweed on rocks. Lobster pots and trawlers line the harbour, their crews still speaking in gravelled voices worn by weather and tide. Alongside them: fish and chips, whelks, and the hum of gaudily-lit arcades spilling light into dusk. Beyond the quay rise resorts of long-tired grandeur, echoes of when Scarborough was the nation’s first seaside spa. It is, at once, the working port and the pleasure pier - the quintessential northern seaside town.

Central Tramway

Transportation
The Central Tramway in Scarborough is a historic funicular railway that has been operating since 1881. It runs along a 71-meter track with a steep 50% gradient, connecting Marine Parade near the town center to Foreshore Road on the beachfront. Unlike other funiculars in Britain, this one operates swiftly and efficiently without the need for tickets – passengers can simply pay at the tollbooth or use a contactless card.
Quaint but very practical. I could even take my e-bike with no extra charge. With Scarborough being very hilly, the two of these in the town are absolutely essential. The central one was closed to my hotel, so a real boon. Don't miss going on one if you are in the town.
Michael S — Google review
This was a lovely little attraction to visit, moving sharply up the cliff with beautiful views of the seaside! The seats are smoothly laid out and the tram's vintage design is refreshing to see, priced cheaply for a one way ticket too. Upstairs boarding place has plenty on sale in the shop and even a cafe, also appreciated the old Rowntree's advert!
K. P — Google review
This tram was great. I was nervous but there was no need. It only took a couple of mins to get to the top. We were on a coach trip to Whitby and couldn't manage the steps. It takes you to the main shopping area lots of shops. We had a cup of tea in the cafe next to the tram stop at the top. Really lovely views up their.
Antoinette L — Google review
Scarborough has so much to offer. The tramway is one of the attractions that makes this town so unique. There are two funiculars in Scarborough. This tramway is situated next to St Nicholas Gardens at the top and Olympia arcade to the bottom. Journey time is about 30 seconds. There is a cafe to the top station. On the side wall to the top, you will also find seating with views overlooking the sea. Watch out for the seagulls.
Legends L — Google review
Great little ride up from the beach to save tired legs from walking. Fond memories of getting this tram as a child and love to see that it’s still going. Bonus points for being super cute, retro, quirky.

Fun adventurous way of communising up and down the hill. £1.30/p and kids free. My son loved the experience. My wife who suffers from vertigo, not so much. No jolts or jerks made it a smooth ride. Lots of space for buggy’s too.

Italian restaurant
Giannis is a long-standing, family run restaurant with a Venetian-themed function room and a chic bar area. The menu features authentic Italian dishes and the restaurant is well loved by locals. The exterior is inviting with seating, while the cosy dining room offers intimate surroundings. There's also outdoor seating available.
Having been let down by another restaurant we phoned and got a booking straight away. Once inside, this gem of a restaurant just got more impressive. Three floors of small dining rooms, a lovely bar area to have a pre dinner drink and peruse the menu, and fantastic waiting/bar staff. The food was outstanding. I’m very particular about my filet steak, and this was perfect, and the pasta dish was 10/10. Lovely staff, fab ice cream, perfect view of the castle, it was perfect and I would recommend to anyone loving Italian 🇮🇹 food and steaks.

We had dinner here with a friend of my husband who booked the table. I started with the calamari, my husband had the chicken pâté, and our friend ordered fresh oysters – all of which were delicious. For mains, I had the seafood marinara pasta, our friend had ravioli, and we also shared a pizza. Everything was great, no complaints at all – we all really enjoyed the meal. We didn’t order dessert because I was already full, but I did have an aperitif – a Frangelico, which I enjoyed. The service was consistently great throughout the evening.

Took my Wife for Dinner at this restaurant/bar. It is a lovely place and the food was excellent. It was very busy and we did have a bit of a wait for a table which is fair enough as we did book with fairly short notice. Unfortunately it was very warm and stuffy upstairs while staff did make efforts to cool it down with the air conditioning I think it would benefit from a window being open from time to time to let some air in. All in all I love the authenticity of the place, the decor is lovely and I would eat here again.
William B — Google review
Beautiful-looking restaurant with a charming outdoor terrace—our evening started well with a fantastic cocktail and a warm atmosphere. We were lucky to get a last-minute table booking, and the place came highly recommended. However, the service let the experience down. Despite arriving early, we waited a long time to be seated, and even longer to be served. Our starter took over 30 minutes to arrive and was tiny. Mains (steaks) didn’t come out until nearly 10 PM, by which point we were too tired to enjoy them. Staff mentioned they were short-staffed when I asked, but communication and attitude were lacking—especially from the young man handling our bill, who was unnecessarily rude. A real shame, as the setting and cocktails had so much potential. Unfortunately, we left disappointed. 50:50 whether I’d give them another shot.

Wow - quite simply the best Calzone pizza I’ve ever eaten. Luckily we managed to get a table booked in advance after reading previous reviews and good job we did as restaurant appeared fully booked out on a Monday night. We were seated straight away, drinks order taken quickly and delivered very quickly too. Food order was taken quickly and food arrived within about 15-20 minutes. Well worth the wait and we were in no rush. Huge calzone pizza for me and absolutely stuffed with filling and tasted incredible. Wife had a great pepperoni pizza also. Such a pity I’m not local but if I’m back in Scarborough I will definitely make another booking.

Food was excellent quality. I found the staff to be a little vague when asked about specifics on the menu, like they didn’t actually know. Also, served another table before us, though we were seated first. But they were all friendly enough and the food-delicious. A cute little cosy smoking area outside was a lovely little touch too.

Offers Spanish and Italian food. Had a very pleasant waiter, all smiles and polite. There is plenty to order. Starter was nice and arrived at a reasonable time. It was quite busy but that was fine for waiting for food. Had a nice atmosphere, would definitely come again. The toilets could do with a bit of upgrade and clean.

Excellent Meal and Truly Wonderful Service! 5/5 Stars My recent dinner at Licorella was an absolutely fantastic experience. I simply must rave about the food, particularly the fish, which was utterly superb. It was perfectly cooked, fresh, and seasoned beautifully—easily the highlight of the meal. Beyond the delicious food, the service truly stood out. Our server was exceptionally attentive without being intrusive, making sure we had everything we needed. More than that, the service was genuinely sympathetic and warm, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. From the culinary skill to the gracious hospitality, Licorella provides a top-tier dining experience. Highly recommended!

This was very hard to rate. The restaurant feels like it's reaching for something beyond the average in its menu, although with mixed results. Excellent seafood. The decor and even the menu (as in the paper in a plastic folder) feel rather last century. However the service was super friendly and we got to meet the family. I could see the waiting staff chatting with the customers, so if you like that, this the place for you.

Nestled in a 17th-century farmhouse, The Foulsyke Bistro offers charming country-style rooms with complimentary WiFi and a hearty hot breakfast. This family-run establishment also operates as a bistro serving light lunches and dinners six days a week. Guests can enjoy the cozy atmosphere and relax in the outdoor seating area on sunny days.
My wife and I have had breakfasts, evening meals and Sunday lunches here and the food is always fantastic. In this day & age of expensive eating out, the Foulsyke gives very good value for money. Casey and Joe are very pleasant and helpful, willing to oblige where possible with any dietary concerns or requests. We would thoroughly recommend eating out here. Keep up the great work Foulsyke!

This is the second time we have stayed here, and I cannot praise it enough! Casey and Joe are the most amazing hosts. Genuine, lovely, helpful, and they go above and beyond. Such truly lovely, amazing people. We were made to feel like family as opposed to guests. The rooms are beautiful and luxurious. The decor is quirky and gorgeous. Immaculately clean. Joe does the most wonderful tasty breakfast, and Casey does a great coffee!! Stay here. You will love it!!

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here & I have to say it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish, Joe & Casey were great, very welcoming to all our guests. The hot & cold buffet selection was amazing & plentiful, as was the gazebo, so beautifully decorated. We stayed the night with some of our guest staying also, & we all had an exceptional fresh breakfast next morning. I would definitely recommend this beautiful B&B for private functions as you get total privacy. It really is fantastic.

Coffee tea and biscuits. The drink options in the bedroom were fantastic something for everyone's taste. The tv had sky netflix all the channels... this really is a hidden gem of a place where the owners go above and beyond with every possible perfect extra touch. I can't say a single bad word about this place. From the moment we arrived, we were greeting by our hosts, Casey and Joe, and they couldn't have been nicer. They are such genuinely lovely people and they have a really nice B&B with a fantastic atmosphere. The place is spotlessly clean and the room was gorgeous. We had the attic room. The room has plenty of space and a very comfortable bed. The room has all the facilities you would need including a TV, fan, hairdryer and kettle. They also provide you with plenty tea, hot chocolate, several varieties of coffee and some tasty cookies too. The room also has plenty of sockets for any electrical items. The bathroom is stunning and has a large free standing rolltop bath that faces the window and there is a nice view out the window. There is also a nice shower. The bathroom is stocked with plenty clean towels and plenty toiletries are provided too. The room was serviced each day, towels were changed as needed and tea and coffee etc. was re-stocked. For breakfast, the options are varied to suit all tastes and the quality of food is excellent and delicious. The cooked breakfast is particularly good and certainly sets you up for the day. We didn't get to eat any evening meals there, but the menu looks great and from what I have heard, their food is fantastic. Based on how good the breakfast is, I was not surprised to hear such positive words about their other food. The B&B is also licenced and they have a bar. We did not have a drink there, but they have a decent selection of beers and quite an impressive selection of spirits, and in particular, a good selection of whisky. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Foulskye. We have booked again for next year and we are already looking forward to going back. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Fabulous. It's quite surreal walking across Scarborough then finding this green decorated quietly cool and shady restaurant opposite the steampuss cat lounge (think a Victorian curiosity shop meets car barber). It was quite busy when we were in and think the staff were a bit worried about our 2 children disturbing the other guests on a Saturday but it turned out they were on their best behaviour. To the food. Foie gras parfait starter with a "wold" ale chutney and toast. Extremely well presented but slightly under seasoned. I mis-read the menu initially and asked if this came with a small beer but the beer was in the chutney. I think a half pint of ale on the side would finish this dish off and lift it to a higher level. Wife had lobster bisque that was incredibly deeply flavoured of the sea. Mains lamb rump dish had a super shiny gravy delicious mash and perfectly cooked lamb. Kale was in there somewhere. This is the best lamb dish I have ever eaten in all the (Michelin) restaurants I have been to. Wife had a ravioli that was top drawer. Pudding was the kind of thing you see at the banquet on great British menu a trio of strawberry delicacies in this case a strawberry sorbet, strawberry ice cream with chocolate lattice and strawberry cheesecake along with a crunchy spun sugar. By this stage I didn't notice what everyone else was eating as I was in strawberry heaven. Both children well catered for with fish goujons. So we had a superb time and the server's had personality and were happy to talk to us and this was the best meal we had of 5 on holiday across the north in the week. So why not 5 stars? A couple of small things. The gents door lock was broken and the loo roll ran out. With children we were back and forward to the toilet a few times so it was clear the toilet roll situation was not being checked. The second thing which is perhaps more important was the timing and taste of the wine. I ordered a glass of white to match my starter and it didn't arrive until after I had finished it. I was after something dry and crisp but it didn't quite hit the spot. I didn't fancy the standard rioja to go with my lamb so ordered the £30 crianza. This was a bit ropy and I think it should be ditched from the menu altogether. When we first arrived we were provided with a bin end wine list. Not sure why. There was a separate drinks menu on the table. This was a bit confusing. Surely the bin ends can go on sale or return? My pre dinner cocktail was delicious and I highly recommend all the cocktails. I loved this restaurant and the staff and I think they should get some advice from a sommelier and shorten the wine list a bit but add some quality. I would be adding some french organic white and Provence rose as well as some Grenache and Australian pinot as well as some old rioja reserva if I could however I'm aware wine is very much in the tasting. Not sure when I will be back in Scarborough but if you like proper cooking book a table and get down there. A real hidden gem.

We visited Scarborough as part of our honeymoon and decided to dine here and what a fantastic choice we made. The food was impeccable and more than enough in portion size too. We were made to feel welcome by the staff from the outset and they are very efficient and courteous. They asked if we'd eaten there before and we told them we were on our honeymoon. Everything about our meal here was 10/10. We were greeted by the incredibly friendly staff immediately upon entering the building and felt extremely welcomed. The menu had a wide selection with very reasonable prices, and the portions were unbelievable! Our fried haddock was the most delicious fried fish we ever had. We loved this little chippy. So glad we managed to get a seat inside. It’s a shame it’s such a small indoor seating area because the food is so so good. The fish was cooked perfectly. We ordered the Light Fish & Chips with cod, and even this lighter option was impressively generous. The fish was fresh, tasty, and pleasantly light – not greasy like in many other places. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Makes us wonder how huge the standard portion must be if the light one was already so big! 🙂

We came here for our daughter’s birthday, the four of us and we booked in advance, knowing how popular this place is. We arrived five minutes early and the table was already waiting for us. Service was top notch. The staff were friendly, attentive, and really knew their stuff. We all went for burgers, and honestly, they blew me away.Fresh, flavour packed, and cooked to perfection. I’m a bit of a burger obsessive, and this easily makes my top five. With portions of loaded fries with lots of options these were banging too. We had a few beers, the kids had soft drinks, and we wrapped it up with one of their baked cookie desserts. They told us it’d take 5–10 minutes, and sure enough, they arrived warm and gooey, which was the perfect finish to a brilliant meal. If you’re in the area, get yourself down here. Just make sure to book as it gets busy for a reason. Cracking food and spot on service.

The menu is long and if you like seafood then you will struggle to decide! In the end we both ordered the crab salad - my wife with the added prawns and me with chips! The food was excellent- a full dressed crab with a nice green salad. Reasonable price for what you get.

We wanted a nice quiet breakfast with a lovely view and this was a perfect spot. It was a lovely sunny morning, a lovely breakfast with a lovely view of the Scarborough marina and sea. The staff were very friendly and a perfect start to the day.

Fresh seafood. Great price. Haddock was meh Hot seafood platter was a great choice of you don't want lobster Chowder was ridiculous meaning you get a lot for the price! Crab cocktail fresh and no shells. Excellent service from the young 16 year old lad ... Great asset to the team (Haddock was a add on afterwards)

Yeah, really good. Had breakfast here and wished I had waited 30mins as I had serious food envy for the main menu. However, breakfast was class with options for everyone! Recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to eat in Scarborough. Not unreasonable prices either, very reasonable for the quality!

Amazing experience. Restaurant situated on top of fisherman docks. Crabs and lobsters locally caught served in the restaurant. Very nice atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff. I will definitely come back. Recommend to book a table. Place is very popular

Super friendly and attentive staff members. We did not have a reservation, however we were very lucky to get a table as they were at capacity. Food and drinks were served without long wait. The fish, oysters and the mussels were fresh and tasty. Very friendly atmosphere on the pier in Scarborough. Highly recommended.

Cafe
Nestled on a quiet backstreet behind the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, Eat Me Cafe is a charming and trendy spot that offers a diverse culinary experience. The cafe's industrial-style ambiance sets the stage for an all-day dining affair, featuring classic brunch options like Full English breakfast and egg-based delights. As the day progresses, the menu transitions to an Asian-influenced evening selection, showcasing small plates such as Japanese gyozas, chicken satay, and crispy Korean chicken.
Fabulous find whilst we were exploring Scarborough. They were really friendly to our rather large dog and the number of vegan options was just amazing. Really delicious food. Such a shame we aren't locals as we'd be there all the time

My god, just had the most delicious lunch at Eat Me, my wife & I shared 6 small plates, which was probably a couple too many, but they were all delicious, our favourites being the monkey fingers, saté & crispy cauliflower. Can’t wait to return!

I so wish I had discovered this absolute gem earlier in my trip. Everything about it is lovely. The setting, with the huge art-deco windows, is perfect for a start. The menu is adventurous, adding twists to standards. My full English, for example, came stacked in a toasted ciabatta and was lovely. ( £9). But I could easily have opted for the Middle Eastern tomato and egg Shakshuka (£10), a croque madame (baked ham and cheese with bechamel sauce with an egg on top) or a rarebit 'pimped up with crispy bacon'. (£10.50). A pot of real Yorkshire tea (£2.40) washed it nicely down. Much else to eat too, including an impressive specials board. Something for everyone, for sure, reflected by the client base. Families, young folk, older couples and workmen at the end of their night shift. It's all very informal and undoubtedly my favourite eatery in the town

What an absolute gem this place is. Food was lovely and plenty full. The staff are fantastic and helpful And the vibe is perfect. We stopped in at Eat Me Cafe after we found out it was dog friendly and we weren't disappointed. It was a busy Friday night when we arrived so we had to wait 5 min for a table but we are glad we did. I had a custom beef burger what could be the best I've had this year while the home made meatballs my daughter had where simply stunning. Will definitely be coming back

Straight opposite the railway station in the theatre. I'd already researched where I wanted to go, but I wouldn't have known it was there otherwise. Asian fusion and burgers. Super-friendly service. Lots of options for all dietary requirements. I had a rice bowl with tofu Katsu curry. Very tasty indeed. Very dog friendly too. Will be back next time I'm in Scarborough.

Visited for the first time today with my sister. What a lovely little gem of a place. Nice, friendly, relaxed place to go & eat. We only had one main course plus a drink which was fine for us. Will definitely recommend to others.

Wow. Not what you expect upstairs in a Theatre. Food was genuinely exceptional, amazing vegan options and very good filling portions. I had the creamy mushrooms and my partner had the vegan meatball option, so much food and every bite was amazing. We didn't book but I can see it getting busy at peak times to probably better to book. Will visit again if in the area 👌🏽

Group of 8 we pre booked Ribeye steak from the legends menu. Ribeye was ok, not the best I've had but the garlic flat mushroom, skin on fries, peppercorn sauce all for £19.50 was good value. Two cocktails for £13.50 were great. Nice waiting staff, and atmosphere in the SJTheatre cafe/Bistro.

Clark's Restaurant in Scarborough offers a refined and innovative modern British dining experience with a focus on using local ingredients. Located in the historic Old Town, this restaurant has been serving award-winning dishes since 2016. The menu celebrates the abundance of seasonal produce available in the area, with a heavy emphasis on locally sourced seafood. This is a superb restaurant, wonderful food, in fact out of this world food. Superb service, really friendly and helpful. The ambience is lovely, relaxed dining with a touch of class. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back!!!

Decided to try something different for dinner and ended up here. The staff were very friendly and we were offered a warm welcome. The food was very tasty and very well presented on the plate as well as being hot. We enjoyed the food and left feeling quite satisfied. We would go back again

Great atmosphere, food and staff. The place is extremely well designed, chic and pleasant. We ordered the cheesy doughnuts, the salmon and the half lobster, the chocolate dessert and cheesecake. The food was extremely good, the lobster was soft and tasty. Staff was polite and not intrusive, we spent a lovely dinner and we highly recommend it. Best to reserve a table.

Food was mostly good. The quail egg tapas was a bit disappointing as it didn’t taste any truffle and the egg was extremely over cooked (blue ring showing already), yet did not carry any flavor. Staff is friendly but not the most attentive to details - didn’t offer more water although the bottle was obviously empty. Took the bread basket away (but not the butter) without asking us if we still wanted it. They were very nice and smiling though. There is definitely room for improvement overall! And it’s definitely better than the touristy ones by the beach...

We took our family there on a recommendation There was no kids menu and with an autistic child who is a fussy eater we were a little nervous. The team accomodated things like sauce on the side and the four of us enjoyed one of the most memorable nights of our lives. Just wonderful food. Such fresh food, wonderfully prepared and beautifully cooked Of course this was not cheap, and cost half the price of our holiday but it was 100% worth it. Amazing experience that none of us will forget. Highly recommended.

Clarks - wow! What an amazing find, worth a trip to Scarborough alone! From the understated exterior to the paired back interior, the focus is on service and food and Clarks delivers both in spades. We had the risotto “the best risotto i’ve ever had” and the Clarks Surf n Turf - an 8oz filet ( m rare ) and a half lobster. The steak was melt in the mouth delicious and the lobster - SO fresh, SO delicious. I think i could eat here every night and never become bored. An awesome place i implore everyone to visit. There’s also a free car park nearby in case Scarboros one Uber driver is busy. Essential 5*

Lovely service, nicely renovated. Not overly chic, but certainly one of the nicer places in town. Food was excellent, with a down to earth touch. Prices slightly elevated bit justified by the overall quality of the experience!

Restaurant
Lezzet Mediterranean Bistro, established in 2019, has quickly become a popular dining destination in Scarborough. Situated on Aberdeen Walk, this cozy restaurant offers authentic Turkish cuisine with the option of outdoor seating. The family-friendly bistro features a children's menu and provides options for vegetarians and those with gluten-free dietary needs. Known for its delicious Mediterranean dishes, Lezzet is particularly famous for its hanging kebabs.
I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this restaurant is. I've come from London and I come here every time I go on holiday because this restaurant is just perfect. The food is amazing and well seasoned and cooked on top of that the staff is welcoming and kind and meet your needs and the atmosphere is very calming and not too loud. It is absolutely perfect. I wish I could give it 100 stars not five!!

We just happened across Lezzet in Scarborough as we were wandering around and so glad we did! The food platters were excellent between 4 of us, a meze sharing platter for 2 along with a mixed grill platter was ample for 4 and incredibly tasty. The sauces were great and the chicken on the mixed platter were delicious The service and staff were all really nice and so helpful and pleasant

Absolutely cracking food on offer. We had lamb on hummus, which was incredible and the halloumi which was lovely. We shared the platter for two. It was delicious and so much food, we took a box home. The team were excellent, great service, attentive. Thanks guys.

Lezzet Mediterranean Bistro is absolutely one of my favourite places in Scarborough. From the moment you walk in, there’s a feeling that this is somewhere special. The interior is warm and inviting with lovely decor that makes the meal feel like more than just dinner—it feels like a treat. The food is spectacular. Every dish bursts with flavour. Their mixed grill is amazing: tender meat, beautiful char, generous sides—and the sharing platters are genuinely excellent, plenty to go around without feeling skimpy. Vegetarians and people with dietary restrictions will be pleased too; there are good options, and everything I tried felt fresh and well prepared. The hummus, dips, fresh breads, salads—all of it contributes to a rich and satisfying meal experience. The service is another highlight. The staff are always polite, attentive, and genuinely seem to care that you’re enjoying your meal. Small touches—asking how things are, being helpful about the menu, accommodating allergies—all done with a smile. Even when busy, they manage the flow well so you don’t feel forgotten.

Came here on one of our random selections for some late night food (got here around 9pm on a Saturday). Place was busy inside so we decided to sit outside as the weather was nice and was still under cover from the sea gulls nearby. Manager was nice and recommended dishes to us which we decided to have. Food was amazing, and if we were local, this would be one of our regular haunts and we will come back again if we are ever up this way.

Whoever put that lunch bowl (plate) on the menu is a genius. A little bit of everything for just over a tenner. I had the chicken version and It was absolutely delicious.

Really impressed. I had the Adana kebab and bf had the ottoman platter. Recommended the place to friends who were also off to theatre and it was fully booked. But of course, no dairy free dessert, other than peeled fruit......

Transportation in Scarborough

Getting around Scarborough can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Humberside Airport

Airport
Humberside Airport, situated in North Lincolnshire, is a small airport with limited flight connections. It primarily offers domestic flights to Aberdeen and serves as a convenient departure point for travelers in the area. Despite its size, the airport boasts efficient check-in and security processes, ensuring quick and hassle-free travel experiences. Additionally, passengers appreciate the lack of long queues at passport control and baggage claim.
Humberside is a small airport which is a big advantage. The approach roads are not busy and the carparks are less than 5 minutes walk from the terminal. If booked in advance you can make big savings on the fees. Once inside the terminal there are no queues, but there is ample comfortable seating in the departure lounge. There are not many flights each day which means that they take off on time. Incoming flights are dealt with quickly by passport control. Pay for the carpark at the Information Desk and you're good to go. A far better experience for flights to Amsterdam than from Manchester or Leeds Bradford.

Terrible airport, lack of international flights is an obvious issue but with what they charge to take off and land here I’d imagine most airlines would rather stay clear. Flights are always delayed out of here and as for the state of the place, it’s like a shed. Literally, if you fly domestic your baggage claim is an old wooden hut, if you fly international you get a tin roof so a slight improvement but still rough plasterboard walls etc. it’s like a farmer has turned his barn into an airport and just got bored half way through the renovation. And the baggage!!! Wow does it take a long time to come off, considering how tiny the airport is and the short distance the bags travel you’d think they’ve been taken out for a day trip somewhere.
Joe M — Google review
Very small airport, one taxi company on arrival… waiting time will be longer if you not pre booked…one shop when you enter through security and one little food stall, with nothing worth mentioning but here you can grab a bite. Staffs are friendly …quick security check as the queue is not long…parking is right outside the front doors. Check-in and security went smoothly .. one small duty free….one small cafe…the waiting area by the 2 gates doesn't really have plug point for charging.. need improvement here..
Animesh P — Google review
Humberside airport, what can I say, actually has to be one of the most stress free airports I've had the pleasure of tackling, both going away and coming home. Amenities for an airport it's size are good, but the price for a bacon sandwich, a beer, and a small bottle of water nearly £20 is a bit much.
Warcup 8 — Google review
Great small and handy little airport with very friendly and welcoming staff. I use HUY regularly to and from Amsterdam and was recently very impressed by the new boarding service direct from the lounge. It is a great initiative and I hope that it continues.
Paul L — Google review
Amazing little airport, I really hope it doesn't end up like doncaster sheffield... If you live in the area it's much better to use this as a hub to amsterdam and then connect to anywhere in the world through there, then trek all the way to london / birmingham and face long queues and chaos and delays. The lounge is also excellent, you can use it for £20 if you have revolut or free if you have an amex, you get a wide range of free hot food and drinks and you get to even board from the lounge, making it feel like you are boarding a private jet... The only downside is of course the flight fares, as airlines cant really take advantage of economies of scale , you have to pay a minimum fee of 80 pounds per person to take a flight to amsterdam ,compared to london or birmingham or manchester where it often is as low as £30-40... so if you have a family it adds up. side note : you'll be shocked at how many people will be commuting to humberside from all over the world on your flight, including canada , argentina, usa, australia etc. It really makes you think...

Great little airport. Ideal for us visiting friends and family in Lincolnshire without having to slog up and down the motorways. Limited flights but for us we use the KLM City hopper to and from Schipol

Very tiny airport, one shop when you enter through security and one little food stall, with nothing worth mentioning but here you can grab a bite. Staff was friendly when I visited and parking was right outside the front doors. Check-in and security went smoothly and the waiting area by the 2 gates doesn't really have sockets for charging if needed (just FYI).
