Potala Palace, located on Red Hill in Lhasa, is a grand complex with hundreds of rooms and shrines. Initially built in the 7th century and expanded over time, it became the largest integrated palatial architecture in Lhasa. The palace houses numerous treasures such as frescos, statues, Buddhist scriptures, silver and gold objects, and more. It also attracts countless faithful pilgrims.
High in the mountains of Tibet, Lhasa stands as a symbol of spiritual seeking—a city filled with rituals, prayers, and devotion. The Potala Palace rises in majestic silence, bearing witness to centuries of longing for peace, enlightenment, and truth. And yet, even in all its beauty and discipline, this place echoes a deeper need—one that cannot be met by tradition or human effort. Only Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. No temple, no system, no meditation can bring the soul to God—only the cross. The Creator of heaven and earth, the one true God, has made Himself known not through monuments, but through His Son. In a land full of searching, the Gospel shines as the only light that truly saves. May every heart in every nation come to know that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved—the name of Jesus.
Yuliia L — Google review
The Potala Palace is one of the most famous and impressive palace in the world. At the beginning, there was only a cave where the Dalai Lama used to practice meditation. Over the centuries, it developed into 3 red Towers, a fortress and finally the house of the several Dalai Lama - 14 - until 1959. It was originally built by the 5th Dalai Lama , Lobsang Gyatso - 1617-1682. There are 800 hundred steps to reach the 13 levels to the top but you can take your time and admire the view over Lhassa. A small number of monks are still living there but the actual Dalai Lama had to leave to India - Dharamsala - during the uprising of the Tibetans against China in 1959. The upper part is of course the nicest with the meditation room of the Dalai Lama, the room for the reception of officiels and the square for helding ceremonies and rituals. Actually, it is mainly a site- museum visited by tourists more than a place of spirituality.

Potala Palace is the highest Buddhist Palace in Tibet. It's the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take portable oxygen when you visit this palace, especially for older and unhealthy people. More than 300 stairs, you have to climb. But significantly, we are surprised about its beauty and religious importance and historical importance. Highly recommend for tourists and locals.
Dr B — Google review
We were lucky to be one of the last visitors before Potala Palace closed for the preparation of the 60th anniversary celebration of Tibet as an autonomous region. There are lots of stairs and steps to climb so do be careful. As with the major religious attractions in Tibet, no photography is allowed in the main halls and rooms. No skimpy outfits and make sure your shoulders and knees are not on show.

What an amazing architectural filled with rich history . You would imagine the palace to be on a mountain side in a remote area, but it’s actually right smack in the middle of Lhasa city . I would encourage anyone to have both the day and night view of the Potala Palace, and it captures the different vibes day vs night and it’s quite different . The night view actually is pretty majestic and mysterious at the same time . It is a UNESCO protected site and to visit the Potala Palace. You need to make reservations in advance and visit during your allocated time slot. The potala Palace is divided into the white palace and the red palace, red palace is where all the religious chapels are house and the white palace is the inner sanctum and living quarters of the Dalai Lama previously . You need to walk 356 steps up from ground level up to see the place , feel free to take short breaks as you walk up .
Whiskey T — Google review
Beautiful palace of the Dalai Lama, the building was amazing. It was quite a climb but totally worth it. Not for those who have just arrived and trying to adjust to the high altitude and thin air
Norlida S — Google review
Potala Palace is one of the most beautiful and special places I have ever visited. It is very big and built on a high hill, so you can see the whole city from the top. The palace looks amazing from the outside, and the inside is even more interesting. There are many rooms filled with old paintings, golden statues, and things used by monks and Dalai lama. Walking up to the palace takes some time, and because the air is thin in Lhasa, it can be a little hard to breathe. But if you go slowly and take breaks, it’s not too difficult. It’s best to bring a water bottle and go in the morning when it’s not too crowded. The place feels peaceful and full of history. If you come to Lhasa, you should not miss this place. It’s a wonderful experience!

Park
Lukhang is a park in Tibet where locals gather to relax and socialize without being disturbed. The park offers a stunning view of the palace and boasts clean lake water, a rarity in China. It's a popular spot for visitors seeking a peaceful environment and beautiful scenery.
This park is filled with ordinary Tibetans who use the park to relax and talk together. Here they can usually be allowed to side together without being chased away. There is a super nice view of the palace. The park is definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful park for relaxation beside Potala Palace. Park has wash rooms and restaurants for having lunch and snacks and tea. Tibetan people took physical exercise and passed good times here. Play ground with water tubes for children. Boat ride also available here. Overall, it's good for everyone.

(Translated by Google) Zongjiaolukang Park (also known as Longwangtan) is one of my favorite walking spots in Lhasa. It is located behind the Potala Palace and the entire park is free to enter. It was originally a gravel pit dug for the reconstruction of the Potala Palace. Unexpectedly, due to the gushing of groundwater, it eventually became a tranquil pool of water with a lovely and mysterious name "Longwangtan". It is said that the Tibetan dragon god "Mozhu Seqing" is enshrined here, but now Zongjiaolukang Park is more of a part of the daily life of local people. Whether it is to enjoy the cool, chat, picnic, or wear traditional costumes to celebrate the festival, the whole atmosphere is very comfortable, especially with the flavor of Tibetan culture. I especially like Zongjiaolukang in the morning. The sun shines through the shadows of the trees on the lake, and the whole person is quiet. In fact, if you join a group tour to enter the Potala Palace, the entrance is on the Zongjiaolukang side, so you will pass by here before the morning visit. I recommend that you take a good walk and quietly feel this "back garden" of the Potala Palace while queuing or waiting. It is really worth stopping here. It is not only a beautiful place to take photos, but also a way to get close to the daily life of Tibet. ⸻ 💰Free admission ⏰It is recommended to go there in the early morning or in the morning, the atmosphere is the most peaceful 💡The entrance to the Potala Palace for group visits is on this side, remember to leave more time for a walk #Lhasa Attractions #Zongjiao Lukang #Longwangtan #Potala Palace Back Garden #Tibet Travel #Tibetan Culture #Local Life Sense (Original)

Monument to the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet

2.4
(191)
The Monument to the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet is a striking 37-meter-high spire located in the southern part of Potala square in Lhasa. It commemorates the peaceful liberation of Tibet and was designed by Professor Qikang from South-East University of China, taking the shape of Mount Quomolangma. In the evening, visitors can enjoy a lively atmosphere with people dancing and playing music in the square, while also admiring the beautifully lit palace nearby.
Visit the square in the evening, there are lots of people dancing and playing music. There is also a very nice view of the palace which is lit.

A giant oxymoron. Little more than a monument to Chinese imperialism and oppression over Tibet.
Pierce J — Google review
This has got to be a joke. There was oppression and the government treats it like this? This is honestly disappointing because I was think I would have some fun when I visit Tibet a while ago and then I saw this. This wasn't a peaceful liberation. Make a monument for the people, not for the propaganda.

Ramoche Temple, a Buddhist monastery in Lhasa, is an architectural marvel blending Tibetan and Han Chinese styles. Built in the 7th century by King Songtsen Gampo, it holds great religious significance as the second most sacred temple in Tibet. Often referred to as the 'Minor Jokhang Temple,' it houses the revered Jowo Mikyo Dorje statue brought from Nepal.
Xiao Zhao Temple, located in the heart of Lhasa, Tibet, is a historic temple of immense cultural significance, boasting a rich history dating back to the 7th century. As one of the oldest temples in Lhasa, Xiao Zhao Temple was built during the reign of King Songtsen Gampo and is believed to be the site where the king's Chinese wife, Princess Wencheng, resided. The temple is renowned for its exquisite murals, intricate carvings, and historic artifacts, showcasing the unique blend of Tibetan and Chinese architectural styles. As a testament to the temple's cultural importance, Xiao Zhao Temple has been beautifully restored and remains a revered pilgrimage site, attracting devotees and travelers seeking to experience the temple's serene atmosphere and profound cultural heritage.

Another temple besides Jokhang that has one of the most sacred Shakyamuni statues in Tibet. It’s smaller and less crowded than Jokhang, thus less tourists. The architecture is also quite stunning.

Jokhang Temple, an ancient Buddhist temple in Tibet, was built over 1,300 years ago by King Songtsen Gampo. It is the most sacred building in Tibet and houses the revered Jowo Rinpoche statue of Buddha. Situated at an altitude of 3,600 meters, it is surrounded by Barkhor Street where pilgrims perform ritual kora around the temple.
This is a very important temple for the Tibetans are us their first palace to visit if they've walked here on their pilgrimage to Lhasa as it signifies the end of their journey. It can get very busy but the locals tend not to visit on a Sunday so if you can manage to time your visit for Sunday, you'll be less congested. The temple is well preserved but you cannot tale pictures inside.

Absolutely beautiful experience, filled with wonders and charm with its rich culture. I was here on 2 separate days, day time as well as night. While the day is buzzing with Buddhists on their pilgrimage and curious tourists, the night scene of the Bakhor Street (where the Jokhang temple is located) is equally breathtaking. With so much to see and explore, this place is a must visit when you are in Lhasa! A mindful reminder to be respectful to Buddhists on their pilgrimage making their prayers, to always give them ample space and refrain from taking any photos of them.

Wonderful monastery and and the most sacred Tibetan buddhist temple in Lhassa and in China for the buddhist practitioners. Built in 640 BC, it contains the statue of the living Buddha at the age of 12. This was brought by Queen Wenchen from India. There are a lot of chapels with many statues, some very ancient. The center is compact and you might feel a little oppressed. However, the spirituality and the practices by the monks are lively there. So this The temple to visit in Lhassa, according to my experience. NB No pics allowed in the central part.

Besides the Potala Palace, this is another must visit landmark in Lhasa. One of the statues is 4500 years old which arrived in Lhasa as a princess dowry. One of the most sacret temple here and everything is well maintained.

Lhasa Great Mosque, also known as Hebalin Mosque, has a rich history dating back to the 12th century when Muslim traders arrived in Lhasa. Over time, the Muslim population grew through marriages and social interactions, leading to the formation of a vibrant Muslim community. The mosque was built in traditional Tibetan style with circular arches and a steeple. It features two minarets and underwent reconstruction in 1978 after a fire in 1959.

Nestled in the heart of Lhasa, Dunya Restaurant and Bar is a delightful culinary haven that offers an array of international dishes. This foreign-run establishment stands out for its quality and diverse menu, featuring everything from oregano-infused pizza to authentic Italian pasta. While it leans towards the pricier side compared to local eateries, dining here remains budget-friendly, with most meals under $10.

Nepalese, Tibetan, Western food are available. Not very local feels but kind of International as u may see people from different countries. Food is quite nice tho, we had Tibetan and Nepalese instead of Chinese or Western. The slices one is actually the beef tongue which is very soft and tender, the other was like Indian food back in Malaysia.

Only people in the whole restaurant, waiters never came to our table and spent the whole time chatting downstairs (we had to go to them to ask to order). Pizzas were undercooked and quite frankly inedable, the French fries were chewy and overcooked, and beer was frozen solid (chunks of ice).

The Dunya Restaurant and Bar is located in Lhasa, Tibet and is in my opinion, the best place for a person to relax, enjoy a meal, meet new people and upstairs, enjoy an evening of cocktails with friends [both old and new]. Over the years of visiting Lhasa (2006-20) and over 30 trips to Tibet, my expectations has always been met with warm, wonderful service, great menu of food and a few lifelong friendships were made. I highly recommend anyone visiting Lhasa to stop in The Dunya ... and experience ... The World. The word DUNYA means •World• in 22 different languages. You’ll never know unless you Go. Visit Tibet before it is gone, forever and while there in Lhasa, go to The Dunya, often. UPDATE: When Fred & Jannette left (2018) new proprietors came in to manage both the downstairs & upstairs (restaurant & bar). SMH

Interesting monastery but not well maintained due to the impressive decrease in the number of monks living there. They were up to 5000 and they are barely a few hundreds. The Tibet Museum in Lhasa is a significant repository of Tibetan history and culture, boasting an extensive collection of over 520,000 artifacts. Visitors can explore the rich cultural heritage through the engaging Permanent Exhibition Tour, which showcases traditional Tibetan art, textiles, jewelry, and ceremonial items. This comprehensive tour provides insight into the ancient origins of the Tibetan people, the influence of Buddhism on local culture, and life on this high-altitude plateau.

Chinese propaganda at its best. Some stories were told completely wrong. Their aim of setting up this museum is a wrong interpretation of Tibetan history and does not tell about over 6000 destroyed Buddhist monasteries. Therefore this museum is just showcase and propaganda purpose only so please don't visit this museum if you support human right and cause of Tibet.

Drepung Monastery

4.7
(146)
Monastery
Buddhist temple
Drepung Monastery, one of Tibet's renowned "three great monasteries," was established in 1416 and stands as the largest monastery globally. Nestled at an altitude of 3,800 meters at the base of Gambo Utse Mountain, it is approximately 10 kilometers from Lhasa's center. This architectural marvel resembles a mound of rice on the hillside and has historically served as a vital hub for Tibetan Buddhism, nurturing thousands of monks over the years.
Drepung Monastery, located near Lhasa, Tibet’s capital, is one of the largest and most important Buddhist monasteries in the region. Founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choge, a disciple of Tsongkhapa (the founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism), Drepung quickly became an influential center of learning and spirituality. At its peak, the monastery housed over 10,000 monks and played a significant role in Tibetan religious and political life. Tibet, often referred to as the "Roof of the World," is a high-altitude region in Central Asia, known for its towering mountains, unique culture, and religious significance. The term "Roof of the World" reflects Tibet's vast Tibetan Plateau, which sits at an average elevation of 4,500 meters (14,800 feet) above sea level. Among Tibet's cultural and religious landmarks, Drepung Monastery holds a special place. The monastery is situated on the Gambo Utse Mountain, offering breathtaking views of Lhasa and the surrounding area. Its name, "Drepung," means "the gathering of rice" in Tibetan, symbolizing the large number of monks living and studying there. The monastery is known for its extensive collection of Buddhist scriptures, artwork, and relics, making it a key site for pilgrims and tourists alike. Drepung is closely associated with the Dalai Lama lineage. Before the Dalai Lama's exile to India in the 1950s, the monastery was home to the Ganden Tripa, the spiritual leader of the Gelug school, and was an important center for training future leaders of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery was also a political center, as it hosted important figures in Tibet's religious and political hierarchy. Tibet's title as the "Roof of the World" comes from its geographic position and altitude. The Tibetan Plateau is the highest and largest plateau on Earth, often reaching over 4,500 meters (14,800 feet) above sea level. The region is surrounded by some of the world’s highest mountains, including the Himalayas to the south and the Kunlun Mountains to the north, which contribute to its cold climate and snowy landscapes. Tibet is also home to the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest, which marks the region’s natural boundary with Nepal. The combination of its high altitude, extreme climate, and vast, rugged landscapes gives Tibet its distinct and awe-inspiring identity as the "Roof of the World." This title reflects not only Tibet’s physical elevation but also its cultural and spiritual significance. Tibet is considered a sacred land for Tibetan Buddhism, with numerous monasteries, sacred lakes, and mountains seen as spiritually important. The region’s isolation, difficult terrain, and spiritual heritage make it a place of profound significance for both the local population and pilgrims from around the world. Drepung Monastery embodies the essence of Tibet as the "Roof of the World." It is not only an architectural and cultural marvel but also a center of spiritual life. The monastery has been a place of study, meditation, and prayer for centuries, deeply intertwined with the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Its teachings, rituals, and monastic life have played a central role in shaping the religious landscape of Tibet. Tibet’s natural beauty, combined with its spiritual significance, makes Drepung Monastery an important pilgrimage destination. Visitors who journey to Tibet often visit the monastery to experience the tranquility and sacred atmosphere of the site, as well as to learn more about Tibetan Buddhism. With the backdrop of the "Roof of the World," Drepung serves as a testament to the profound spirituality and resilience of the Tibetan people. In summary, Drepung Monastery stands as a cornerstone of Tibetan Buddhism, encapsulating the spiritual and cultural essence of Tibet, which is known worldwide as the "Roof of the World" due to its majestic mountains, high-altitude landscapes, and spiritual significance.

Enormous monastery complex with many chapels and assembly halls. Many, many steps. Tourists mixed with pilgrims gives the place an odd feel, but the atmosphere was very special.

A quite monastery that is less visited by tourists. However, it used to be the largest monastery in Tibet and its more of a Buddhism university. Drepung Kora is the highlight once you have acclimatized the altitude. There are so many sacred religious carvings on stones. The Kora also offers an amazing overview of both Drepung Monastery and Lhasa city

If you are visiting Lhasa (or western Tibet) and especially if you are interested in Tibetan Buddhism, culture, architecture or history—in my opinion yes, Drepung Monastery is very much worth including. It stands out among Tibetan monasteries for its scale, legacy and living culture. However, if your travel style is more “speed through” sightseeing, or you have limited time and many other stops, then you might treat this as a strong “nice to have” rather than must see. If I had to pick one takeaway: go with sufficient time (say 2–3 hours) and a calm mindset, and you’ll leave with a meaningful experience.

Norbulingka, also known as the Treasure Park, served as the summer palace for the Dalai Lamas. Initially constructed with just one palace in the 1740s, it has expanded over nearly 300 years to include five sections and over 370 rooms. The complex features several lakes and palaces set amidst the highest, largest, and most picturesque gardens in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
A specious place to visit after queuing for tickets to many tourist spots. It used to be a summer palace for the Dalai Lamas.

Came here during the yoghurt festival ( Sho Dan), many families came here for picnic . Everyone brought their sitting mats and food for the festivities . This place used to be the summer palace for the Dalai Lama . There are different building spread out on the compound for you to visit . You can see where the Dalai Lama used to study , mediate and rest . There are the different chapels with Buddhist statues for you to pay respect too .

The summer palace. Children are free. Adults pay less than ¥100 each. The ticket is beautiful. It is a beautiful place to visit and should be on anyone's list when they come to lhasa. There are many buildings and each is beautiful. The grounds are beautiful and there are many nomads and other Tibetan people walking around to visit each of the temples and buildings. We spent two hours here and it was serene. Only one negative comment is that the toilet is awful and so plan your trip properly and aim at not needing to use the toilet here.

The monastery is known for its association with possession, exorcism, and pre-Buddhist rites.

After passing the ticket office at the gate of Drepung Monastery, take the right path up the mountain and walk for about 10 minutes to arrive. Go up to Naiqiong Temple and walk for about 20 minutes to reach Drepung Temple. Naiqiong Temple was believed to have been built or expanded during the reign of the fifth Dalai Lama and the Ganden period, around the early Qing Dynasty. The master of the temple worships Master Lianhuahua and the protector Baihar. Baihar was originally the god of Bon religion, but he was conquered by Lian Huahua. In Naiqiong Temple, there is traditionally a protector named Naiqiong. The Dharma Protector is the acting wizard of Baihar, who specializes in giving oracles to the Dalai Lama and is influential in political and religious decision-making. There are characteristic religious murals in Naiqiong Temple. Unfortunately, my visit was in a hurry and I didn't go inside to observe. If you enter through the mountain gate of Drepung Temple, the entrance fee to Drepung Temple is RMB 60 (in 2018). There is no ticket gate in Naiqiong Temple, so you can enter and exit freely. Anyway, I very like to thanks for I Tibet Travel for hotel and itinerary arrangements.

We spent an amazing week in Tibet with Tenzin travel. Tenzin travel is the number one tibetan travel agency in Lhasa. It was the only agency to accept to organize us a private tour from Kyrong border to Lhasa with stops in Everest base camp and Shigatse (for a reasonable price). Before the trip, it was very easy to communicate with Tenzin and he really helped us to make this trip possible. Then, during the trip everything was perfect from first day to last day. All his staff members are tibetans. Guides speak well English (and sometimes even french). They were all very nice and made us discover the fantastic tibetan and bouddhist culture. Our driver drove very safely and his car was very good. We stayed in very confortable tibetan hotels. Plus, as our train was late in the evening on last day, Tenzin offered us a fantastic visit day in Lhasa before dropping us to train station. Once in train station, we had big diffculties to check in and Tenzin arranged everything for us (he litteraly dropped us into the train cabin and asked our cabin mates to help us with chinese translations). We really hope we will travel again with Tenzin travel someday !!

I booked the nine day Lhasa to Kathmandu Overland private tour with ITibet Travels. Mr. Woaber, the manager, was easy to work with and was able to make some changes to the tour. He added the special 2000 km. train trip from Xining to Lhasa to the start of my itinerary, which was extraordinary. Arriving in Lhasa, I met my guide Testan and driver Kalsang. They were with me for the whole tour. Tsetan is an encyclopedia of knowledge about Buddhism, temples and monasteries. She was a joy to be with and really made my time in Tibet extra special. Kalsang was an excellent driver and had a good sense of humor. They were both always concerned with my comfort and well-being, completely professional. The hotels and restaurants were excellent and the monasteries and temples that we visited were incredible. The views of the Himalayan range and the day at EBC was something I will remember forever. What an incredible view of Mount Everest! It was a remarkable tour with remarkable people. And a final reason why I recommend ITibet tours. Their offices are in Lhasa and they are owned and staffed by 100% Tibetans. They use only Tibetan hotels and restaurants. If you use them, you will get the full Tibetan experience - no one will know more about Tibet than a Tibetan.

We did a 4 days Lhasa-Gyantse-Shigatse tour with 1 additional Lhasa-day on our own. 5***** review for sure. Tsetan (guide), Lobsang (owner) and all the drivers did an outstanding job. Tsetan had so much knowledge about the tibetan culture and religion - outstanding! It really felt like travelling with a friend and we were so tired in the evening :) We were amazed about the scenery and the beautiful tibetan people all along the way. They were caring so much about our reaction on the altitude (no problem for us by travelling by train). What we really liked was that there was no pressure at all to go to souvenir shops/buy things etc. CoVid seemed to be far away in Tibet in July 2023. If you are looking for a local tibetan owned company with a NGO-background, don't hesitate to book with them.

Toilet is a bit tricky so better to plan your trip without visiting toilet… It was very hot but windy when we did the hike so recommend to bring pocari water to drink to avoid dehydration especially for high mountain sickness and put more layers especially wind-proof clothing. Guide said half of the monastery was destroyed during Cultural Revolution so what we see is just half of it. At Golden time, there were 4k monks staying at the monastery and now it is 700… And they are adding more new buildings including a police station next to the monastery. How sad is that…

Big and beautiful monastery at the mountain top (elevation more than 4300m). It’s about 70km from Lhasa City centre, and well worth the visit

Beautiful. This is what is looked like in 2007. The child followed me around for a bit as I recall. I am not sure what he wanted but he was friendly as was everyone else.

I love the way to go to Ganden Monastery. The view is really great. It is a good start to getting well with acute mountain and avoid the sickness with 1 day trip to Ganden to challenge yourself at 4,800m and then come back to Lhasa at 3,600m before taking any higher location

I saw batmans tibetan monks. An avalanche happened and then they just melted it with their bald heads reflecting the suns heat onto the snow. I wouldnt mess with them

The most impressive sight to have visited. The monastery lies perfectly hidden behind the mountain and has a beautiful kora you can walk. Sky burials take place here which is special to see. Actually witnessing it is limited to local people though. The path of the kora will lead you around the mountain and give you photo worthy views on the surroundings.

Lhasa River

4.4
(24)
River
Lhasa River, a tributary of the Yarling Zangpo River, is a stunning natural attraction in Lhasa, Tibet. The river flows through the region at an elevation of 3650m above sea level and offers picturesque views that captivate travelers. With over 3000 hours of sunshine annually, Lhasa is known as the "city of Sunshine." Visitors arriving by air are greeted by the sight of this beautiful river.
You'll notice this river quickly when entering the Lhasa area by air. The river looked dried out when we visited it but plenty of water was still flowing. If you're able to travel further by road you'll have some nice views over the river and local people's life near the river banks. The area is being cultivated with more trees nowadays so expect less dried out surroundings in the near future.

(Translated by Google) In August, on the day of the full moon, when energy reaches its maximum (according to Tibetan tradition), the monastery's gigantic thangka is displayed and pilgrims flock in large numbers to purify themselves from negative karma and accumulate merit. The Ganden Gompa was built in 1409 AD. at an altitude of 4200 m, 50 km from Lhasa. It is the headquarters of the Gelugpa, the Yellow Berets. The tomb of the founder, Tsongkhapa, is the main temple, where the thangka which is unrolled during the ceremony is also kept. (Translated by Google) Zayeba! It is a secret place located at more than 4,500 meters, high altitude, and isolated from the world. It is a special privilege to have the honor to visit it today. Many lamas live in seclusion and practice in the mountains. They do not care about worldly affairs and devote themselves to the Buddha. Their living conditions are as poor as that of Yan Hui, a disciple of Confucius who only had one basket of food and one ladle of water. Their determination is admirable. The air on the mountain is thin and the view is vast, giving people a sense of indifference to the world. In life, we work hard and pursue fame and fortune. After seeing everything clearly, we return to our true nature and live in seclusion in the mountains and forests. All the past things are drowned in ashes and we no longer miss them. Come to Zayeba, wash your body and mind, purify your soul, and prepare yourself to return to the world again. With a different vision and mind, you can face the new challenges in life. I believe you will have different experiences and growth! Beautiful! Zayeba is a place where the soul can be lifted up again, allowing you, who are dusty in the world, to move towards a new milestone with a new vision! In the 8th century, Guru Padmasambhava practiced and preached at Zhayepa Monastery, creating the "One Hundred and Eight Great Siddhas" caves, making it a renowned tantric practice center. In the 11th century, Atisha spent five years teaching and recruiting disciples at Zhayepa Monastery, leaving behind numerous traces. In 1647, the Fifth Dalai Lama established a four-story Gelugpa monastery at Zhayepa Monastery, complete with a Buddha Hall, a Dharma Protector Hall, and the Dalai Lama's bedroom. Zhayepa Monastery also boasts numerous caves scattered among the rocky outcrops. Throughout Tibetan Buddhist history, countless venerable masters have achieved spiritual enlightenment here, leaving countless stories to tell. The Tibet Weather Training Center offers insights into the unique climate of Lhasa, which defies expectations due to its high elevation. Despite being located at a considerable height, Lhasa experiences milder temperatures than one might anticipate. The annual temperature variation in Tibet is relatively minimal compared to other inland cities in China. Even during the winter months, Lhasa enjoys warm and mild days, thanks in part to the region's abundant sunlight.
