Shopping mall
Shopping
Aeon Mall Tsukuba is a large shopping complex that offers a wide range of shops, including an Aeon supermarket, clothing stores, food and drink outlets, toy shops, home decor stores, and more. Families can enjoy a one-stop experience with entertainment options for kids and essential shopping for adults. The mall features a cinema and various restaurants to cater to different tastes. While the outdoor parking lot is spacious, it may be affected by severe weather conditions.
It’s pretty much like any other Aeon mall — you’re not expecting anything terribly exciting but it serves its purpose as a nice stopover for decent food, some grocery shopping and even a movie
Marc Q — Google review
a great place to shop. it's a big complex with aeon supermarket (basically gets everything there!) and more shops - clothings, food & drinks, toys, home decor and accessories, really everything. there's also a cinema in it and more restaurants. so it's a great one stop for families to go to on all days. the kids could be entertained and the adults to get their necessities. large parking lot available but at outdoor, so may suffer a bit under typhoon or storms.
Giami L — Google review
It has a nice food court at the top level. And on the ground floor, it has a good array of restaurants with reasonable price. The mall is huge and not crowded at all. There's plenty of parking spaces. Most Aeon supermarkets are crazy by the evenings but this is not at all. Hence it's a comfortable to do your grocery shopping.
EH T — Google review
This relatively new aeon mall is pretty good except for the main entrances to the mall itself. They seem like bottlenecks. The layout is pretty similar to aeon tsuchiura... Roughly. Food court is just okay with freshness burger as the only burger joint, and they are painfully slow.

Museum
The Tsukuba Space Center, operated by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), is a top destination for space enthusiasts. It offers an educational and fun experience for visitors of all ages, showcasing technologies that have propelled human exploration into outer space. The center provides free tours and features interactive exhibits, including a real spaceship and information about Japanese space exploration. Visitors can also enjoy close-up views of a large static rocket and learn about astronaut life in space.
This place it's amazing. My 4yo son loved to be able to see a real spaceship, to feel like an astronaut, to see the food they eat at space. Another great thing was to be able to listen the sound of a spacecraft launch. And the best part it is totally free.
Rafaela C — Google review
Highly recommended. Easy to reach from Tokyo main station with the almost non-stop bus used by commuters of the Tsukuba research / university area. Book in advance the private tour! I did not but got lucky as one person did not show up and got their place. As I was the only non Japanese on this tour, I got a private tour guide providing information in English. We visited real operational buildings (ISS control center and astronauts training center). The rest of the museum is great as well and free. It is full of life-size models of spacecrafts, engineering models or back-up flight models!
Luca S — Google review
I was always amazed by exploring space. An exciting place to visit. It has a short facility tour by reserved ticket only. The tickets are released once a month online, and it goes quickly and may be within half an hour.

Do you want to stimulate your child's curiosity? More than enough! There are also capsule toys containing rocket fragments. I think kids will love them.
Google review
If you love space explorations you won't be disappointed. I got a sort of private tour in English since I was the only foreigner. The lady who made the tour was so nice and enthusiastic.
Giampaolo F — Google review
Did the tour and it was comprehensive and educational. This place is a miniature version of NASA visitors center in Houston, TX, USA.
Itchy A — Google review
This is great educational experience for kids and adults alike. I strongly recommend it. Ample parking and very friendly Staff. Please ask at the front desk for tickets to the free tours. Although they are free you can't go on the official tours without a wristband ticket. The other areas except the tours are unrestricted.

Amazing place with lots of information about Japanese space exploration. There is a cool large static rocket you can get close to and take photos with. And many other exhibitions in the main hall with English translations.

Museums
The Geological Museum in Tsukuba, Japan is a spacious location that houses an impressive collection of rocks, minerals, and fossils. The museum also hosts earth science events and offers special exhibitions featuring the latest research results. Visitors can explore a permanent exhibition focused on minerals as well as a relief map of Japan. While English explanations may be limited, the museum is well-arranged and provides an enjoyable experience for those interested in geology. Admission to the museum is free with advance reservation required.
Organized in a nice manner. There are fun interactive experiences when you first come in, and a large abundance of interesting rocks to enjoy. Upstairs there are additional interactive exhibits that help learn more about Japan in general.
David H — Google review
A very neat rock museum (stones, not Rolling Stones). The staff was friendly and the displays very interesting. I really enjoyed strolling through this place. Only cons are the limited English and the gift shop was quite small. Great as part of a science themed trip to Tsukuba.
Otaku J — Google review
The word "impressive" would be an understatement. This museum is my favourite one in Japan, and I've been to dozens. You could spend half a day in this building and there's something new to discover in every room. Their design team also did an amazing job on the interactive displays. I still can't believe it's free entry.

Visiting this place was a fantastic experience that exceeded my expectations. The staff were exceptionally friendly, making us feel welcome and comfortable right from the start. However, the true highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the diverse range of expositions and exhibits. Each one was thoughtfully curated and incredibly interesting, offering a deep dive into a variety of subjects. The quality and creativity of these displays were simply outstanding. I highly recommend a visit to anyone who appreciates engaging and well-presented exhibits. It's a cultural treasure trove that shouldn't be missed!
Felipe S — Google review
My family and I stopped by at this place because we went to JAXA in the same town and we had extra time. We actually enjoyed this museum a lot. Staffs in each room are very knowledgeable and clearly they love the subject. Displays are beautiful. It is a small museum, free of charge but can easily spend few hours. Highly recommend!

I've been in several geological museums throughout the world. I can say it is one of the of its kind. I do recommend stopping by if you are around AIST. They have explanation in English too and they have an impressive collection of fossils and minerals. They also link how these mineral are used in our lives. Amazing place to take kids and let them walk through the geology of our planet and universe.

(Translated by Google) It was very crowded on the weekend, but I thought it would be okay because the turnover was fast, but things didn't move very quickly, and when I decided not to order udon and just tempura because my child had an after-school activity, the young male staff member at the register asked me if I wanted udon. When I told him I didn't have time and couldn't order it, he apologized for making me wait, which calmed my frustration while waiting in line. Thank you, Shimizu-san. (Translated by Google) I arrived around 1 PM on a weekday. The entire Aeon Mall and the food court were empty. There were no lines at any of the other restaurants in the food court, except for Marugame. I figured it might be the most popular, and since it was getting cold, I thought it would be nice to have some warm udon, so I lined up. But in the end, it was just that the service was slow. It seemed like three staff members were splitting the responsibilities of the noodle section, the cashier, and the preparation, but each and every action was incredibly slow and sluggish. The person in charge of preparation should have stopped and come over to help, but instead they were silently making the tempura base (they could do it later). The cashier was also completely unfriendly. The ginger condiments that were offered for free refills were left empty. The food itself is delicious, but the customers are ruining it.

Western restaurant
West House is a Western restaurant that offers a variety of lunch menus. Among the options, the omurice stands out as it caters to Moslem dietary requirements by offering a sauce without pork. However, those concerned with halal food should avoid the ebi furai, which is cooked together with non-halal chicken. The dish is served with a choice of Italian or curry dressing for the accompanying salad. The overall taste of their dishes is satisfying.
Their top notch service will always drag you. They have a great collection of tea. My favorite is Ayurvedic herbal tea. They have a kind of service for your special day celebration. You can reserve for it over phone. If you like coffee, they have it too. My recommendation is caramel latte. It is great place for groups; friends, family members. Environment of this shop gives you a retro vibe. Staffs are professional.

Really delicious! I got Doria and my friend had omelette rice. It was creamy and good smelling. I really recommend toast here. We said we would regret if we didn't order dessert here. The prices are little expensive but worth it!

The tea was nice. Parfait is also nice but expensive. Visited on 3rd Jan 2022; there was waiting time of 30 minutes. The quantity of food is large and taste is good.

The hamburger was terrible, too salty, and the burger was too fatty. The cheese burger did not taste to cheese at all. And all other dishes were very small. The service is the only good thing.

food was good and parfait was good too. Seems like size of parfait has decreased from last time we ate there.

Nice family-friendly Yoshoku (Japanized "Western" Meals) restaurant that seems like a local favorite in Tsukuba. Tasty food at large portions - if it's your first time and you want an "overview" taste - get the Yoshoku plate (in photo) - Omurice, Salad, Croquettes, Potage Soup. The BPS is also delicious and filling! They accept credit cards too, which is convenient. Just a short walk/drive from the JAXA Space Center, if you're visiting.

It was lunch time, close to 12. We went with our hungry children (age 5 & 1) and the waiters took 20 mins to even come to our table. When they did, the dishes we wanted to eat was either finished or not severed on that day ( wish they had some kind of notice telling us that. We are fluent in Japanese, FYI). So had to look through the menu again…which took more time. The kids menu didn’t look like the picture on the menu. Food wasn’t that bad but not great too. Overall it was not a good experience. Wouldn’t go there again, even though it’s just opposite Doho park.

Soba noodle shop
(Translated by Google) I visited the restaurant for the first time in a year. I ordered tempura soba and my companion ordered duck soba. The thin soba noodles dipped in the spicy sauce were exceptional. It's been a long time since I've had soba noodles with such flavor! The tempura was very filling, and the duck my companion had was very thick but soft and delicious, so next time I'd like to order duck soba. I thought it was expensive, but now it's not at all and I was satisfied with everything. I was surprised that I could eat all of this for just 1,970 yen tempura soba. It was even more delicious than before, I'll be back soon (Original)

The food was excellent but the service is poor. There are many parking space, front and rear of the building. The lady who was taking orders and serving was always coughing with no face mask and her attitude (way she talks and moves) is not good at all which ruined everything. The atmosphere inside is not good. I felt that its not organized.

(Translated by Google) The tempura includes shrimp, vegetables, and a rare banana tempura, so it's quite filling, but the soba noodles are a little lacking. Since the unit price is high, you may be hesitant to order a large portion. I recommend the spicy radish soba, but the spiciness of the radish overwhelms the flavor of the soba, so if you're going to eat it, I recommend cold soba. The hand-made soba noodles are so delicious that I think I would want to come back again and again if I could get a lower price without the tofu provided.

(Translated by Google) It suddenly appears in a residential area, or rather, it looks like a one-story house. When you open the door and enter, there is a sign that says, ``The owner changes the taste of the soba every day on a whim.'' I'm not that picky about the taste of soba, so as long as I can eat delicious soba, I'm totally fine with changing it every day. I was shown to a small raised seat and ordered three dishes: ``Tsuke Kamo Soba ¥1,760,'' ``Kizami-age Soba ¥1,540,'' and ``Seiro Soba'' ¥880. All are served chilled. The soba noodles are thin and slightly uneven in a good way. These fluffy noodles seem to mix well with the soup. The first thing I had was ``Tsuke Kamo Soba''. Submerge about half in the warm dipping sauce. Not only does the soba have a rich aroma, but the dipping sauce that comes with the duck stock is delicious. It's a rich but not persistent feeling that permeates through your body. I like this dipping sauce. It also contains yuzu peel, so you can enjoy the refreshing taste. ``Kizami-age soba'' is full of fried tofu, bonito flakes, gray green onions, and shiso leaves. Mix these together and enjoy. The combination of chilled noodles and these ingredients is perfect. If the Tsukekamo Soba from earlier is something you want to have as a late night snack after drinking, then this Kizami Fried Soba is something you want to eat the next morning after drinking. It's refreshing and has just the right amount of bitterness from the green onions, and the balance is irresistible. That's why ``Seiro'' is simple is best. This is where you can enjoy the richest aroma. Finally, please enjoy the meal with soba-yu (soba-yu).

(Translated by Google) I had a large bowl of tempura soba at Nayuta, a soba restaurant with no signboard. They said it would take a while to prepare, so I was given cold tofu as a complimentary dish. It was delicious. The soba was just average (a fairly harsh review). What about the aroma of the soba? But that was probably due to my rhinitis. I thought it was shishito pepper tempura, but when I tried it, it turned out to be santo-mame. For some reason, there was a banana in the tempura. I was given an eclair as a complimentary dish, but I didn't need banana tempura. I would have preferred squid, but I imagine that would be difficult given the cost of cooking. Personally, I think local lotus root tempura would be better than sweet potato tempura, but maybe locals prefer sweet potato?

Shopping mall
Shopping
iias Tsukuba is a large shopping mall located near Kenkyugakuen Station on the Tsukuba Express, making it one of the largest in the northern Kanto region. With over 200 stores offering daily necessities, fashion, interior design, and dining options from local and international brands, this mall caters to various needs. Additionally, it features amenities such as a movie theater and a wedding hall. The location also offers ample parking for both cars and bicycles.
My favorite mall!! I feel very safe here. The Kasumi grocery store supported me for many months. All the restaurants are very good, high quality food. There is a wide variety of shops, I love buying clothes here. The food court is large and very busy. The arcade is great, and has several purikura as well. I really love this mall so much!
Bailey J — Google review
a big shopping mall that provides one stop entertainment to the neighbours. a good place to shop at.
Giami L — Google review
Iias is the biggest mall in Tsukuba city! It have 3 floor. And many stores. And you can find everything that you need. For example ( clothing, restaurant, bakery, electric shop, entertainment and fun! And many other more.
Misa H — Google review
About 5 min walk from Kenkyugakuen station, iias Tsukuba is home to many local and international brands for shopping and dining. There are adequate parking spaces for cars and bicycles, and the place is family-friendly. Weekends can be crowded, but on weekdays, I find shopping and doing errands much easier. The food court at 3F has many options in case the lines are long at the restaurants at 1F.
Angela M — Google review
It's at the center of town. It's possible to spend whole day. So many shops. Dining area with restaurants located in first floor and third floor. Parking is available around the building and on the roof.
Rasanja R — Google review
Went here to do some last minute shopping before heading out from Japan. Has quite good collection of stores. Items are reasonably priced. Has plenty of parking lots but on that day most of the car slots were full. Loved the shopping experience here. As usual in Japanese style, the service at all shops were excellent.
Chathurika R — Google review
Good shopping and hangout place. A lot of the stores offer really good items but it can be quite expensive for some. Still, it's nice to look around in this mall. The parking is free and theres a lot of slots. It can get crowded on weekends but weekdays should be fine.
PRINCESS A — Google review
It is a huge shopping mall with infinite outlets. Starting from clothing, groceries, food and what not! It is so big that you need a whole day to visit this place. Make sure to carry a lot of money. Every outlet is irresistible.

Tsukuba Onsen KIRARI annex is a well-run onsen resort with both indoor and outdoor baths. The men's side offers outdoor heated pools, stone 'beds' to relax on, whirlpool, ice pool, and a sauna room. The facility provides everything needed for a convenient experience including bracelets for access. The restaurant serves great food and drinks, with the matcha soba set being highly recommended. The staff is friendly and accommodating despite language barriers.
A wonderful onsen that made me feel relaxed and at peace. This is truly a great location to visit during the cold winter months as the whole place has heated floors. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the food was good too. The wristbands that we received at the shoe locker were convenient as we could use them to purchase any product or service at the onsen. Once you are ready to leave, you can use that same wristband to pay for your stay at the exit machines.

We had a wonderful, relaxing experience. The baths are fantastic and the facilities are very clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming even though we do not speak Japanese. We were there with our 10yo daughter and she also loved the experience. None of us have tattoos, but keep in mind that they have a strict no tattoo policy. Even though we were the only foreigners, we felt welcomed. We had such a great time that ended up coming back the following day!

My boyfriend and I went yesterday. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The facilities are very clean and tidy. The restaurant area is beautiful, with a tatami area and traditional seating. The food prices are excellent, and there's a wide variety! We'll go again.

I love that their sauna has automatic ロウリュー and a window. The outdoor bath is under tall pine trees and they have honey that you can put on your face while at the うたたね湯。They don’t welcome kids below elementary age into their facility so be careful about that before going there.
Krantzl K — Google review
It seems a bit luxury place, required age more than 7 years old, so I can’t visit with my kid.
Thang V — Google review
I had an amazing experience! When I arrived, they had someone who spoke some English help explain the process to me, you leave your shoes in a lock box, get a bracelet that you can buy stuff with. You pick out which size clothes they give to you to walk around in. For an extra 300 yen you can use the hot stone room, you lay on a stone floor with your outfit on and a towel, the room next to it has a cold room with misty air to cool off. To use the onsen you shower at a mini wash area after you leave your clothes in the ladies locker room and take the key. They have several pools to use, some with jets, some with electric shock thing (kinda cool), and outdoor onsens. They have mud masks you can put on and lay down on a slanted stone that streams warm water down your back. They have rest areas, sleep areas, reading material, a sauna, food and I definitely recommend the massage. 90min for 9000yen. Best-massage-I've ever had!! Seen a variety of ages here, don't come here with a tattoo -they are clear about that rule. Best part of my trip so far!!
Nicole L — Google review
Dont go. Horrible experience. They kicked out of me and my child because of my birds tattoo. They literally scold us loud as if we were criminals, and that scared my child as hell. I know its my fault but there should be process to kick out of parent and child with innocent bird tattoos. My child did nothing wrong!!!
Taeko K — Google review
Cold water and rock laying is my favourite part of this onsen. On top of that they have a relaxation room where you can lie down fully and have a blanket

Matsumi Park

4.0
(716)
Park
Matsumi Park in Tsukuba offers a serene escape into nature with its cherry trees, tranquil carp pond, and a unique concrete observation tower that provides stunning views of Mt. Tsukuba. While not the largest or most historically important park in the area, Matsumi Park's expansive green spaces and picturesque koi pond offer a peaceful setting for leisurely strolls or relaxing picnics.
Beautiful and peaceful city park near University of Tsukuba campus/med center. There are a lot of wonderful features for its size. The observation tower (¥100) is not something you get in your typical city park; it's cinder block construction, but it affords nice views or provides some solitude (depending on when you go). It's open 0900-1700 (last ticket 1645). Your choice of elevator or stairs! You can also feed the koi fish, watch the birds, smell the flowers, take a stroll, or just meditate by the lake. If you're thirsty, there are more vending machines than you can imagine.
Maxwell K — Google review
Great park in downtown tsukuba. Very close to expo science museum. Lots of ducks and koi fish. Peaceful waterfall and many benches around the water. There is a tower, you can purchase tickets to ride an elevator to top. Also can purchase koi and duck food at same place as elevator tickets. Indoor seating area. Play place for children could be better. Pay to park is easy to reach.
Neil B — Google review
Beautiful, although not big it is well scaped with several terrains and you can even buy food for the Coi fish and feed them, legally! Watch out for the pigeons as they want some action too~

This park is nice for a walk with family. It has a lovely pond in the middle and the park is connected to the University so one can walk around and enjoy. I deducted one point because the pathways are a lil rough and bumpy, not suitable for a baby stroller. Would recommend people with infants to carry them in a baby carrier , if visiting this park.

Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant
Fortunately, this establishment remains open and offers a variety of chicken dishes, with their tasting menu being particularly outstanding. Additionally, the prices are quite reasonable. When visiting on a Monday afternoon around 13:20, the wait time to be seated was approximately 20 minutes. Another noteworthy restaurant has a shorter waiting period of only 10 minutes despite its high popularity. The food and service at this place are exceptional and come at an affordable cost.
Luckily this location is still open. They have many chicken dishes and the tasting is the best. Also the price is very reasonable. The waiting time to get into the restaurant was about 20 minutes on Monday afternoon at around 13:20.

Dislikes - The table, menu, and screen were dirty (although I guess it's within the acceptable range...) - I like light flavors, so the miso soup and sweet and spicy sauce were too salty and thick, and I needed more water than usual (this was my first time at Ootoya, so I don't know what the standard is). ShichiFukuKen is a popular noodle house in Tsukuba, known for its delicious ramen, mazesoba, and gyoza. The restaurant offers a down-to-earth dining experience with friendly staff. While the location may not be in the best neighborhood, the food is described as great and delicious. However, non-Japanese speakers may find it challenging to order due to the lack of English menus or pictures on the ticket machine.
This place was excellent. The food was my favorite meal I’ve had while in Japan. As an American, it was very easy to order on the kiosk with the google lens. You could even order beer from the kiosk. The staff was very nice. I highly recommend this ramen shop!

They only serve 油そば on Sunday. It was good but not my style. Dear owner, Thank you for your reply. The spiciness of 担々麺 is pepper(胡椒), but we prefer chili 🌶️(唐辛子) since it’s not common for Thai people. This is the reason. We will try normal ramen next time.

the food is really great and delicious 👍 the only problem for us foreigners is that we cant read what we are ordering and don't know what it looks like. if only you will have a separate menu with pictures of what you sell it would be more convenient for us costumers to use the ticket machine. but overall the food is 👍 great.

La Porta trattoria e bar offers a wide variety of delectable Italian cuisine including pizza, pasta, seafood, meat, and wine. The restaurant has a relaxed and casual atmosphere with an outdoor patio where patrons can savor their meals. Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled in a serene mountain setting, Tsukubasan Shrine is an ancient Shinto sanctuary known for its distinctive undulating rooftop and vibrant festivals. Enshrining the spirits of Mt. Tsukuba, this revered shrine has a history dating back almost 3,000 years and is associated with Izanagi and Izanami, deities known for bestowing blessings on marriages and harmonious unions.
Great place to visit in the new year. You see lots of Japanese from all over here to give their prayers and give offerings plus their wishes for the new year ahead.

Went through the shrine on the way to the cable railway. The roofs were very impressive.

Tsukubasan Shrine⛩️✨ is always filled with a majestic and sacred atmosphere. Every visit clears the mind and strengthens the spirit 🌿. With its deep history and stunning views over the Kanto Plain, it’s also known as a powerful spiritual spot

Beautiful grounds and buildings, especially the azaleas and wisteria. We visited during Golden Week, so there were lots of fresh green leaves. I'm sure the large gingko tree is beautiful in fall. If either of the shrines on the mountain peaks are closed for weather-related reasons when you visit, you can purchase the goshuin at this temple. I believe they will confirm that you visited the mountain peaks in order to purchase though. The cable car is nearby as well as a hiking trail, so there were many people in hiking gear.

Nice place. Famous for autumn leaves. There’s cable car station right behind the shrine. Have pay ¥300/¥500 for the car parks(per 1day). Hiking can be started here as well. Restaurants are also available around. Entrance is free.

This is a lovely little shrine. I’ve been in Japan for over a decade and it’s one of my favorite. It’s less known so not so crowded and there are several great hiking courses on the mountain.

Its a nice walk to the shrine up the hill. It was quite busy but with kind employees keeping things clean. There were nice wood carvings not on the main shrine but a few stories down. The main shrine and omikuji stations had some social distancing. People are friendly.

The cable car at Miyawaki Station, also known as Mt. Tsukuba Cable Car, offers a quick ascent to the top of Tsukuba Mountain in under 10 minutes. The panoramic view from the summit is breathtaking, especially during the autumn season. Additionally, there are multiple hiking trails that begin at the entrance near the cable station. However, be prepared for a long wait when descending as queues can extend up to an hour.
Wooww, challenges yourself hiking from parking area to cable station 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️then take cable to the top of Mt.

(Translated by Google) We went on a Sunday evening with a drizzly rain and strong winds. It was near the end of the day, so there were only two other passengers, including us. The round-trip fare for two people was cheap, about 2,000 yen, so we weren't expecting much from the low-riding Tsukuba Cable Car. The ride took 8 minutes, and we went through a tunnel along the way, so it was a lot of fun. Since we went late, the snack shop was already closed, so we couldn't eat any Koufuku Dango. The view was foggy and extremely cold, so we headed back down the mountain straight away. On the way down, we were able to see the view towards Tokyo again, which was enjoyable.

Observation Decks & Towers
Koma View Terrace, located atop Mount Tsukuba, offers breathtaking panoramic views. Positioned between the peaks of Mount Nantai and Mount Nyotai, this observation deck allows visitors to marvel at the stunning vistas while indulging in local delicacies available at its on-site restaurant and souvenir shop. While the food served here is satisfactory, adjacent eateries offer a wider range of delectable options.
It is on the top of Tsukuba san and just close to Tsukuba cable car.🚠 This observatory offers a nice view of Tsukuba City and Kanto area. We had a chance to visit around evening and we could enjoy the night view of city scape from the mountains. Open observatory is on the third floor and second floor is cafeteria with 360 degrees viewing. Cafeteria has many local delicacy and nice coffee. You can spend hours there.

I was here in June, together with a Japanese friend. We walked up the mountain, starting close to the cable car station, had a nice dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed the fantastic views from the Terrace. We took the cable car back down to where we parked the car. This is a bit off the beaten path and not easy to get to using public transport, but if you have a car and want to get away from the hustle and bustle in Tokyo, this is definitely a worthwhile visit.

Mount Tsukuba never disappointed me in anytime ! I’ve hiked a lots of time with my friends and hiking circle ! And Koma View Terrace is in the top of the Tsukuba san and the middle of two peaks of Tsukuba san (Mt. Nantai and Mt. Nyotai). Inside the terrace you can find omiyage, restaurant and the most amazing views. The foods are okey. But just next to the terrace you can find more restaurants and which are more delicious! Please go and enjoy the view !

Observation deck located close to the cable car station in top of Mount Tsukuba. The building is quite old but the view from top is very beautiful especially on a clear day.

Felt like an oasis after hiking for two hours. The dango sold near the cable car ticket office tasted great for my cold, tired stomach. The view from this exact place might not feel great after coming from Nyotai peak, but it is only ten minutes tops to the peak, so I highly recommend going a little bit more.

Mount Tsukuba, located in Ibaraki Prefecture, is a renowned 2,877-foot mountain with two peaks that offers stunning views of Tokyo and Mount Fuji. It features a cable car and hiking trails for visitors to explore its natural beauty. While not as tall as Mount Fuji, it still provides breathtaking scenery and is a popular destination for hikers looking for a slightly less challenging experience.
Map says 90 minutes up but a brisk pace will get you up in 60. Gorgeous views, not super crowded. There are some portions that are very rock heavy. Would recommend going on a dry day. Cable car option is nice too.

If you are a beginner like me…It’s a good hike for Saturday..so that you may take some rest on Sunday before going back to office on Monday. I went on 05.01.2025. There was snow near top making some places slippery. Though it was not so crowded, a proper pathway is not available and we had to stand aside to make way for hikers coming down (especially on the last 200m to top to nyotai san) View from the observation deck between nyotai san and Nantai san is amazing. We had to Carry our water/ refreshments for the hike. However there are a few restaurants on the top but with no vegetarian options 🥹. On the way back we took the cable car as it was already late and the last bus to Tsukuba station (40-50 min bus ride away) was at 5pm.

Fairly challenging trail with huge rocks and sometimes slippery, near the top is narrow and crowded. Overall a good hike near from Tokyo. View from the top is awesome. There is options for cable car and rope way as well.

A beautiful mountain an easy bus ride from Tsukuba Station. Dotted with cozy restaurants with views, a cable car, and ropeway, it's a lovely day trip. The cable car takes you to the saddle between the two peaks. Each of them are rocky to reach, but only a few meters above the saddle. A prime thing ti do in Ibaraki.
Richie H — Google review
The ropeway will take you up to the summit with ease! There are several restaurants at the summit. It should be noted, however, that most of them only accept cash. We then walked down from the summit. It was exciting, with steep slopes and lots of huge rocks. This is a great place to enjoy nature.
Rintaro — Google review
Nice and beautiful. Good for hike. The path is clearly maintained in natural way. No concrete or any other artificial material. However, in rainy days, it's muddy and slippery at some places. Anyway nice experience to hike it. For those who unable to climb it other options available. Cable car is cheap and easy. It's 600 ¥ per adult. Ropeway is what available. There are shops around the base of mountain. And also few shops at the top. But, as expected, price is bit high. After reaching the top you can enjoy the panoramic view. That's marvelous. It will refresh you. If you can bring food and water the hiking will cost nothing. Wash room facilities available. So I recommend this place for your next trip. Congrats

Conveyor belt sushi restaurant
HAMA-SUSHI Tsukuba Kenkyugakuen is a well-regarded eatery where patrons can quickly enjoy their meal thanks to prompt service and the availability of seating. With on-demand ordering, there is minimal waiting time for food. The establishment boasts numerous plastic dividers between diners, ensuring a sense of privacy and safety. Although the waiting room may become crowded at times, the restaurant offers attractive pricing for its delectable sushi dishes.
First of all, I love kaitenzushi places like Hama. The fish is good, and it's overall incredible value. Compared to sushiro, Hama has better seating, a brighter look, and convenient individual fast conveyors. Sushiro has better seasonal specials, better Macha, and better desserts. Both have good quality fish.

(Translated by Google) A rare restaurant where you can enjoy delicious Hitachi beef while looking out at the scenery of Mt. Tsukuba! There were 12 people on Golden Week, but we were able to smoothly guide them through advance reservations. The charcoal-grilled course (4,000 yen) not only lets you enjoy plenty of Hitachi beef, but it's also great value for money. The high-quality fat and softness didn't leave your stomach feeling heavy. If I tried to eat the same quality food in Tokyo, it would probably cost almost twice as much, so I was very satisfied! I added set A (rice, miso soup, pickles, salad), and the miso soup was especially delicious. The gassho-zukuri style buildings were relocated from three 200-year-old traditional houses in Okuhida Shirakawa-go, and the historical and tasteful appearance gave us a sense of the extraordinary. The view from the window is beautiful, so I think it's perfect for family gatherings. It was a wonderful restaurant where you can enjoy both elegance and the warmth of an old folk house.

You can enjoy a leisurely meal in this quiet, elegant space. The Hitachi beef hitsumabushi I ordered looked luxurious and appetizing. With one bite, the sweet, rich sauce clung to the dish, bringing out the umami of the Hitachi beef. The meat was tender, and the sweetness of the fat spread the more you chew. You can add condiments to change the flavor as you go, and finally pour dashi over it to make it like ochazuke. When you start to tire of the strong flavor, add some dashi to transform it into a mellow, gentle taste, making it the perfect finale. The ability to enjoy three different flavors in one bowl - rich, refreshing, and refined - was appealing. The staff were very polite and the explanations of the dishes were easy to understand, making it an easy-to-understand restaurant, even for tourists. This restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy local brand beef.

On a Sunday morning in August, at around 7:20, we arrived at 松屋製麺所, a popular pasta shop. Despite the early hour, there was already a queue forming and it took approximately half an hour to reach the entrance. The establishment offers three parking lots, although for first-time visitors it may be challenging to discern which one to use.
Could get nice noodles and condensed soups. Several variation of noodles and soups can be selected.

🌟 Home-Cooked Miso Ramen Perfection! 🍜✨ I recently tried making miso ramen at home using fresh noodles and soup from Matsuya Seimenjo in Tsukuba, Ibaraki. 🏞️ The noodles were firm and silky smooth, perfectly paired with the rich, flavorful soup. Honestly, the result was better than eating out at a ramen shop! 😍👏 What an amazing noodle maker! 🌸 About Matsuya Seimenjo 🌸 Nestled at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba in a beautifully renovated 100-year-old building, Matsuya Seimenjo has been crafting high-quality noodles since 2015. 🏯✨ They use 100% domestic wheat, including the local variety “Yume Shihou,” and their noodles and soups are free from chemical additives. 🍃 What makes them extra special? 🌅 They offer an eat-in space called the “Tasting Section,” where you can enjoy freshly made ramen, even for breakfast (their famous “Morning Ramen” 🌄🍜). Open from 7 AM to 1 PM, it’s a unique and wholesome experience. Their signature dish, “Matsuya Ramen,” features chewy, wavy noodles with a light and delicate niboshi-based broth. All toppings, including char siu and menma, are handmade. 🍖🥢 🏆 Recognized as the best ramen in Ibaraki (Ramen Walker Grand Prix 2018 & 2021), it’s a must-visit spot for both locals and travelers. You can also order their noodles as a gift or through Tsukuba’s hometown tax program! 🎁📦 Whether you’re exploring Tsukuba or looking for an exceptional ramen experience at home, Matsuya Seimenjo is the place to check out. 🌟 #Tsukuba #RamenLovers #MatsuyaSeimenjo #JapaneseFood #FoodieAdventures

(Translated by Google) Although it is merely a tasting from a noodle factory, the portion is enough for one full bowl, so make sure you go with an empty stomach. I arrived at 7:55 on a cloudy Sunday in June, and two of the four parking spaces in the first parking lot next to the store were free. There were five customers in the store ahead of me, and I ordered smoothly with only a 2-3 minute wait. Food and drink payments are only accepted in cash. Char siu noodles 1,100 yen + large portion 200 yen + roast pork rice 350 yen = 1,650 yen. A clear soy sauce ramen in the same category as Kitakata Ramen Sakanai, it may be unorthodox, but the white pepper goes really well with the flavor change, so give it a try. The roast pork rice has a smoky aroma of roasted meat that fills your mouth, and is definitely worth more than its price. This goes really well with black pepper. By 8:30, only the rice dishes were sold out. After the meal, I purchased a Matsuya Ramen Set for two servings for 650 yen as a souvenir (payment by credit card or Pay is accepted for merchandise purchases), and by the time I left the shop at 8:35, there were about four people waiting on the benches in front of the shop. With the refreshing early summer morning air, it was the perfect place to experience a morning ramen at the foot of the mountain, and to mark the beginning of a new page in my travels. The ramen I brought home was also delicious, and I was able to savor the afterglow, making it feel like I'd gotten even more value for my money. The refreshing soy sauce soup, rich with the aroma of dried sardines and chicken, is paired with thick, handmade-style noodles. It's a more soy sauce-based version of Sano ramen. It's so comforting and delicious. 😌 The noodles are bumpy, so they really cling to the soup. Next, the soup, which was rich in seafood broth and matched well with the homemade soy sauce, was rich in flavor, but the richness was a perfect match with the noodles. There were two types of char siu: thigh and belly, and they were also outstandingly delicious. While each was a main dish, they complemented the homemade noodles. We finished the broth in no time. It was very delicious. I'll come again. Bonus: Because of the high temperature, we weren't able to purchase takeout ramen. If you're buying takeout, it's recommended that you prepare a cooler box in advance. When I left the store it was around 9 o'clock. By that time, the line had disappeared. So if you want to eat without waiting, I recommend coming after 9 o'clock.

(Translated by Google) The noodles are a little soft, but I personally like how the chewy, hand-kneaded, curly noodles cling to the soup. If they were a little harder, I'd give it a +1 star! The grilled pork rice was also delicious! However, the eating space is small, and people who don't mind won't pull out their chairs, so it can be difficult to move around with your ramen...

Theme park
Tsukuba Wanwan Land is a popular destination in Tsukuba, Japan, offering a unique experience for dog lovers. This interactive zoo features around 500 dogs from 90 different breeds, providing visitors with the opportunity to walk and play with these furry friends. The park also includes shows and a cat house, although some visitors have noted that the cat area can be crowded and has an unpleasant odor.
If you are a dog/cat lover. This place is for you. Affordable, clean and their animals are well-trained. You can also rent any available dog they have to walk around for 30mins. My youngest super adore this place🐶🐱.
Cheianakaely F — Google review
A dog cat park. There are many dogs and cats. Their living conditions were ok. You can rent a dog for 20 mins at the cost of around 1000 yen extra. Entry fee for adult is 1000 yen. If you are coming from Tsukuba center, you can take hokubo shuttle bus and get down at Namuta stop. It is front of the bus stop. There is parking lot too.
Agamoni P — Google review
dog HEAVEN 2000¥ to go in and you can rent a dog for 20m for 1000¥ had so much fun would definitely recommend if you're a dog person! (there's a cat area too)
Sho T — Google review
It’s a place for immersing yourself with dogs, but not much interaction is possible beyond cuddles. They should have provided toys so visitors can actually play with the dogs. There is a show to enjoy, though. So I would say, if you want a real ‘playing with dogs’ experience, go to a dog café instead. Oh, and the smell is bad in many areas, so wear something you wouldn’t mind getting dirty.
Mm — Google review
If you love dogs, this is the right place (there is a cat house too). You can bring your own dog if you have one, or rent a dog for the day. There are petting areas and a stage for events, like races. Entrance is not expensive but the playground is limited if large. And the restaurant selection is small and unremarkable. Handicap/wheelchair friendly. Credit cards OK in the entrance only.
Wisterian W — Google review
Normally I get nervous when it comes to zoos and animal activities in Japan as they don't always have the best animal care. This place however, the dogs seem happy and healthy. It was very fun to get some much needed dog time in and roam around the park.
Max K — Google review
Visited this lovely Cat and Dog Park. This place is very lively both with animals and humans. You can a lot of dogs of different breed. They also have a husky and separate section for Big Dogs and Small Dogs. You will have to pay 1000 yen to roam around a dog of your choice. There are events that happen all day. The cat house was relatively small and crowdy. Must visit with family.
Sanjeev M — Google review
They have many dogs they you can play with. The dog park is 1500yen entrance but you can get discount tickets online. It’s not really worth the price. You have to pay extra for other services like walking the dog for 20 mins which costs 1,000 yen, but the dogs don’t really want to walk. They are very playful with the staff but not with the customer. There are onsens and soba shops near by but they finish early as the soba sells fast.

An awesome preserved place in Tsukuba. Although there are not much things to see here but the sunsets and the big ground with beautiful backgrounds of Mountains always amused me. I love the place and I use to go to here every afternoon in the summer time. It’s so much pleasant. I’m gonna miss if I leave Tsukuba. 😍

Mountain View in some parts of this consortium is spectacular. Other than that it felt little empty. When I visited the place It had a notion that U am waiting in cemetery for something, something that I don’t know of. Poetry aside, a beautiful cycling road called ’Kasumigaura Rin Rin Road’ cross through this place. So I are a cyclist like me happen to pass by, you can take break and admire the amazing View of Mountains.

It's beautiful, and good place to relax especially in spring time, a visit to these ruins can give you an idea about sengoku period architecture
Rima C — Google review
Although he was ridiculed as the weakest in the Sengoku period, Oda Ujiharu(小田氏治) managed to recapture castles eight times through hard work and perseverance. He is not the weakest. He is a symbol of indomitable spirit. And this is where indomitable spirit is inspires. It's the home of the strong soul.

Chinese noodle restaurant
Stamina Ramen Gamusha is a charming eatery that serves unique local ramen noodle soup with a twist. Their standout dish features an amalgamation of flavors, combining pumpkin, liver, and cabbage in a distinctive way. The restaurant boasts an easygoing atmosphere and has garnered a reputation for its great ramen options that deviate from the typical offerings. The staff members are known for their politeness and helpfulness, ensuring diners have a pleasant experience.
The ramen was excellent and a huge portion for the price. Pay attention to order the regular size if you're a normal human. I can eat a lot, but had difficulty to finish the mid size ramen. The queue was huge, on the other hand it's not worth to wait one hour, there are other good restaurants around it.
Mark K — Google review
It is a popular restaurant for Ibaraki Prefecture's gourmet stamina ramen. Stamina chilled ramen is a soupless ramen with red bean paste. It is sweet and spicy with pumpkin, carrots, cabbage, and liver. It is a very popular restaurant, so you will have to wait in line for about an hour. Only cash and prepaid transportation cards are accepted.
Yutaka K — Google review
I often wanted to go here multiple times per week, but was afraid the owner would get tired of seeing me that often. Great Ramen with vegetables and liver, not the typical Ramen dish. Very polite and helpful staff. You can add gyoza as a side, or have a soupless version. I was afraid at first time to go here with the language barrier but it is no problem at all. I would fly and come to Oho again just visit that place again, one of the best food experiences I had. Thanks for readings. Thank you to the staff there for the meals.

I have not been here. No matter how many times I press the button "I have not been here" Google keeps asking me to rate this and tells me that I visited three weeks ago. Well I didn't visit this three weeks ago or any other number of weeks ago, I've never been here, Google get your act together and stop asking me to review places I haven't been to.

The stamina ramen (a ramen with liver and pumpkin) it's a tipical dish of the Ibaraki prefecture and it's highly recommended because it's delicious! The largest one costs less than 1000¥.
