Senaru in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Senaru, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Senaru is a small mountain village on the northern slopes of Lombok’s Mount Rinjani, known as a key gateway for treks into the national park. Travelers come for its lush scenery and easy access to two of Lombok’s most famous waterfalls, Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep. The area also offers cool highland air, rice-terrace views and a chance to see traditional Sasak village life. It’s a good base if you want a quieter alternative to Lombok’s beach towns while still being close to major natural sights.
With favorites like Mount Rinjani National Park, Lake Segara Anak, and Sendang Gile Waterfall, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Waroeng Senaru and Rinjani Lighthouse Cottages so you can get the best taste of Senaru while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Mountains
Mount Rinjani, located in Lombok, is a massive active volcano known for its stunning natural beauty. It is often considered one of the most breathtaking volcanoes globally and features a crater lake with crystal-clear blue water at its summit. The area surrounding the mountain is lush and cool due to abundant rainfall and protection by forests and jungle. Hiking expeditions are available for those looking to explore this majestic natural wonder over multiple days.
Without doubt one of the best views in the world, at over three thousand seven hundred meters it’s absolutely breathtaking and that can be taken literally, as the climb to get here is very challenging. Statistically only twenty five percent of people who start make it to the top. So if you plan on coming to see the incredible vistas from the top be prepared for hot days at lower elevations and freezing windy conditions to the summit. Get fit, especially your legs, prepare months in advance by doing steep hikes on loose slippery terrain.

Mount Rinjani, located on Lombok Island, is the second-highest volcano in Indonesia at 3,726 meters. It's a popular destination for trekking enthusiasts, offering a physically demanding yet rewarding journey. But beyond the adventure, Rinjani is rich in cultural and spiritual meaning. The local Sasak people and Balinese Hindus consider the mountain sacred. Segara Anak, the crater lake within the caldera, is believed to be a spiritual place where rituals and offerings are often held. Along the trail, trekkers pass through tropical forests, savanna grasslands, and dramatic volcanic terrain. Wildlife like ebony leaf monkeys and exotic birds are often spotted, making the hike not just physically engaging but also ecologically rich. The sunrise view from the summit is unforgettable, offering a sweeping panorama of Lombok, Bali, and even Sumbawa on a clear day. Rinjani is not just a mountain—it's a living blend of natural wonder, local tradition, and spiritual depth.

I did the 3D2N trek to the summit of Rinjani. It was an amazing experience. The hike is hard and some paths are dangerous but if you follow the guides and eat snacks and plenty of water you will have the best time. I was impressed with the porters and guides for hiking twice a week wearing flip flops. They are the real heroes!

Probably the best viewpoint from the top of any hike I’ve ever been on. It was totally worth not being able to sleep at all in a tent for one night to get here. It’s definitely possible to do this in one day, but there’s a high chance of altitude sickness from going that fast and it also seemed like the mountain tends to be clearer in the mornings, so for both those reasons it’s probably best to hire a trekking company. The major downside to this is you’re potentially locked in to a single day to summit, so you really need to get lucky on the weather if it’s not peak dry season and also hope you don’t get food poisoning or something from the unhygienic campsites.

One of the most beautiful views on this planet and i have been hiking in Austria, Australia, New Zealand and Norway! We did 3D2N, the following things were included: apartment one day before the tour starts, transportation from the harbour to the apartment and then to the start location, from end location to kuta! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks were very filling and very good! Our guide was very nice and helpful. We had one porter for us both who carried our tent, sleeping mattress, sleeping bags, food, water and rubbish! Our clothes and stuff we had to carry ourselves of course. The hike is very difficult, because the ground is 1/3 of the hiking time very loose and sometimes slippery. You don’t make much kilometres, but you do gain a lot of altitude meters! You should be definitely very sporty, otherwise you will have bad muscle soreness the days after. And your knees will hurt during the trip if you don’t hike/walk a lot in your free time! Bring definitely warm clothes, big jacket, gloves, hat, warm socks, headlight and a face mask with you. If you don’t have, no worries you can borrow everything at the apartment the night before the tour starts! Good luck!

Good 3days 2night hike experience Porter will carry your extra weight with charges Miss the indomie cook up there Building the camp under rain Hike is tougher than I expected during the peak at 2am Overall good life experience must go once if u like the immersive volcano view
DEREKWAH — Google review
Great mountain - very challenging hike, hiking poles are an essential for the loose volcano scree towards the summit and for the path down. Biggest downside is the large amount of waste, plastic, food and human waste around the mountain - a cleaning fee should be imposed so that a cleaning team can clean up the mountain. No facilities are there either in terms of toilets or mountain huts, toilet facilities would be beneficial and a solution to fix the human waste issue (as seen in European mountain).

Amazing experience, we did 2 days/ 1 night. It's a difficult and intense trek because the ground is very technical but it deserves to be done because the view at the top is breathtaking.

Hiking area
Mount Rinjani National Park is a mountainous area on Lombok Island, offering guided hikes, breathtaking views, and a campground for trekkers. In addition to Mount Rinjani, the island boasts other charming and historic sites worth exploring. The trek to the summit is challenging and requires good fitness levels. It takes about 6 hours of steady hiking to reach the crater rim for camping before embarking on a 4-hour summit trail in the early morning.
I climbed the mountains Ringani on a two-day trip and one night’s stay. It was not an easy experience, but the moment you reach the summit and watch the sunrise makes you forget all the fatigue and effort. Just prepare yourself, especially for such a night, which is physically and mentally exhausting, and the cold on the Top, is not for beginners.

The hardest thing i ever done so far , but just really enjoy the moment the view the people, although it's really dirty in the camp site little and stool just beside my camp .But the view really amazing. And my team and the tour guide they all amazing i will miss them alot.

Its hella worth it, just not as you're first hike ever. Its gonna be hard, not gonna lie. Everyone thst comes down almost all tell you its the hardest thing they've ever done. Which is true, just go! Hotsprings are another full day of hiking extra, we did not do that one but it sounded like not something we would have fount it worth. Sleeping beds arent the best but okay ish, just dont expect to have perfect nights, bring earplugs for the wind maybe. Bring wipes to clean yourself a little. Its a lot. Its really cold up!!! So please dont underestimate that, i had a sweather a wind proof rain jacket and 2 shirts and it was cold, wish i had gloves and a thicker jacket. A lot of the ground moves away under your feet, so know if you find thst scary a lot dont do it. You wont make the top anyway and its a lot of thst in the last part of the first day up.

I climbed Mount Rinjani on a 2-day, 1-night package together with my brother. We hired one guide and two amazing porters—real "supermen"—who carried all our necessities, including food and camping gear. This hike is not for beginners; it's definitely recommended for experienced and physically fit climbers. The terrain is steep, challenging, and requires stamina, especially during the ascent and descent. We spent the night by the beautiful Segara Anak Lake, a serene crater lake nestled within the mountain. The view was breathtaking—surrounded by dramatic cliffs, misty air, and the calming sound of nature. Soaking our feet in the nearby hot spring after a long trek was the perfect way to relax. On the second day, we started the final push to the summit before dawn. We reached the top just as the sun began to rise, and the view from up there was absolutely spectacular—golden sunlight illuminating the peaks, casting shadows across the clouds, and revealing the vast landscape below. It was very cold, but the beauty and sense of accomplishment made every step worth it. Reaching the summit of Mount Rinjani was truly one of the best experiences of my life, and I sincerely hope I’ll have the chance to do it again in the near future.

Exceptional trek from tetebatu, with a good part starting in the jungle (cooler trek as there is shade compared to the other side to the north). You need to plan to sleep one night so that you can climb a short section only in the morning from the last camp before seeing the sunrise at the top. The wind can bring a lot of clouds or make them disappear in a short time. An exceptional lake at the summit.
Luc B — Google review
One of our best hikes we've done. It's challenging and demanding but the view is worth every step! You have to be fit to do this hike. Make sure to reach the summit before sunrise as the colours are amazing! It's gets really cold on the summit so make sure to take some warm clothes and jackets. We've done it twice and if we have the change we would do it again. 100% recommend

A really beautiful hike on a amazing trail. This should be in the list of mountains to hike for every serious hiker. Went there in August which is dry season. The ground is dry and some parts are quite loose and slippery. It is definitely colder during dry season so be prepared to stay warm at base camp and crater rim campsite.
LK O — Google review
Different people different view ya but for me its a lovely place for hiking to volcano mount as you can experience different type of sand during hike and the view along the journey to the top is worth it. Its tiring so please make sure to really exercise and train for this hike. Never give up and just enjoy the nature the world that God created for us to enjoy. If you feel tired, stop for a while and continue again. Please be extra careful along the journey ya. No worries your guide and porter will follow you along the way and prepare the bestest food ever during this trip. Dont be surprise to experience nature of your toilet at the campsite 🤣. Overall its worth it to try hike at least once in a lifetime but since i didnt go to Torean route as my leg already jelly after summit, maybe i’ll go again. Definitely!!!

Conquer one of Indonesia's highest peaks with carefully curated trekking packages. Experience a seamless journey from booking to trekking, including smooth arrangements and comfortable accommodations. The knowledgeable guides provide encouragement and support throughout the challenging yet manageable hike, while the porters impressively carry heavy loads with unwavering smiles.
We had an unforgettable time trekking 3D2N with Rinjani Trekking Official. Our guide Sapar was fun, engaging, and made the journey feel easier with great conversations and humor. The two porters were incredible - cooking amazing meals, serving us soft drinks, and even bringing food to our tent when it was too cold or windy. They went the extra mile, moving our tent for a better view and again when strong winds hit. The trek was challenging but doable, and thanks to the good weather, the views, summit, and landscapes were absolutely breathtaking. We even ran down on the last day with our guide! Highly recommend this team for an unforgettable Rinjani experience!

Well organised and professional. JOSI gave me a great explanation of the route and what to expect during the trip. The food was delicious too. Owner Tony was also very friendly and the room I stayed in the night before was perfect and comfortable. Our guide spoke great English and kept checking that we were safe the whole time! The porters as incredibly strong people

The best teamwork - all the way to the top! We had an amazing 3 day - 2 nights Rinjani trekking!! The hike is quite a challenge (not gonna lie) but it is totally worth it! The service from Rinjani Trekking Official is definitely superb: Jupri the guide and porters Rrrrrangi and Pur did an amazing job! Always helpful and thoughtful and the food prepared by Rangi and Pur is Michelin star worthy! And last but not least: Nanang crossed the entire island to get us and bring us back to our accommodation in Kuta! We truly felt taken care of every step of the way (literally). Whilst we are giving our legs a well-earned rest, we wish you guys many more safe trips up & down. Definitely recommend this great trio! Best, Jan & Am

3D/2N: I cannot express how much respect I have for our porters - Carrying 40 Kilos each on their shoulders - from sea to summit and back - in thongs or barefooted, smoking, smiling and still being faster than you. I will think twice before saying I'm hard working next time. The food was great and delicious. Thank you so much for everything. I had a lovely experience hiking with you guys. Also a huge shoutout to Anton, our guide - We had a lovely time and he's very kind and professional. Thank you! You guys rock.

We had really good experience with Rinjani tekking official...they come to pick up us at Sengiggi harbour and in a hour we reach Senaru village where we do the chek in and then we had a meeting with the stuff who explain us the "tour" organization. After a quite afternoon at Senaru waterfalls, sleeping early to be ready for hiking...The hiking at Rinjani Puncak it was very well organize in all the parts, from the beginning to the end Rinjani trekking official supply us with water and local food plus some energy biscuits who helps during the hiking. Reach the Puncak of Rinjani can be difficul but we follow all the raccomandation and suggestion of our super guide Sapar and everything went well... follow his step and i will be more easy 👌🏼 . nothing more to say only big thanks to the Rinjani trekking official and all the teamwork who can permit us to live a great and unforgettable experience

I had a great experience with rinjani trekking official and would recommend to everyone - 1. extremely smooth communication with Josi. I reached out only couple days before my hike but he secured my spot immediately and arranged my pickup. 2. Flexible and customer-centric: I booked two nights before and after the hike with Josi. The first cottage was good and very clean. But since i wanted to book a place with more outdoor space and better view to chill out after the hike, i asked if i can cancel and get refund of the last night accommodation and book on my own. Josi was very understanding, refunded me immediately and recommended me a very good place to stay. 3. The trek was great, especially the service and food provided by the team was amazing, which really helps during this demanding hike.

Tiu Kelep Waterfall

4.8
(705)
Tiu Kelep Waterfall is a stunning natural wonder located in the small mountain village of Senaru in North Lombok, Indonesia. Situated at the base of Mount Rinjani and surrounded by lush jungle, it offers a breathtaking sight for visitors. The journey to reach Tiu Kelep involves traveling approximately 175 km from Mataram city, taking about 4 hours via different routes. The road to the waterfall can be steep and thrilling, adding an adventurous element to the trip.
One of the best and biggest waterfall I’ve ever seen in lombok. Entrance was 20k per person and the track to get here was pretty easy. I didn’t hire a tour guide and still got here just fine. Every junction leads to the same spot anyway, so you won’t get lost. The highlight for me was going back down using water tubing. You’ll glide through a narrow passage on an inflatable tube at a thrilling speed. They handle documentation for you (using your own phone) and bring your bags to the meeting point, so you don’t have to worry about anything getting wet. I highly recommend trying it because I think you won’t find something like this in many other places.
Dwi F — Google review
Both waterfalls are very beautiful. It's difficult to swim but it worth it. About 20 minutes walk between the two waterfalls. Be careful, you must walk in the water (flip-flops or water shoes required). For the rest of the walk, it’s best to have walking shoes. Lots of tourists, best to go before 9:30 am. Price (see photo). Parking fees. At the entrance, the locals will offer you a guide. It’s absolutely not necessary!
Co C — Google review
Loved it! Entered via Gate 1 and walked down steps, past monkeys to the first waterfall. No guide needed and the monkeys don't take any notice of you. After the first waterfall, we back-tracked about 50m and turned left along a path that warned of falling rocks. Following the path was straightforward, but you need to cross the river on a couple of occasions, so take sandals. The path was easy to follow and although most people appeared to have a local guide with them, we didn't need one. The waterfall is very impressive and worth the effort to get there. We spend ages just sitting on rocks in the river, watching people come and go and enjoying the view of the huge waterfall.

Tiu Kelep Waterfall is the 2nd waterfall you can access via Gate 1 followed via Sendang Gile Waterfall. It’s about 20mins walk 🚶🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️from Sedang Gile Waterfall. (You can read 🗣️ my review 📝 on Gate 1 and Sedang Gile Waterfall separately) What a beautiful 🤩 waterfall that mother nature provided. Wide, powerful water drop and perfect for taking pictures 📸. The walk from Sedang Gile Waterfall to Tiu Kelep Waterfall will bring you through water 🏝️bodies and forest 🌳 trails. You need proper footwear like water sandals? Not advisable to wear slippers 🩴🩴. Enroute, there are many picture 📸taking opportunities. If you have a drone with you, it’s even better that you can fly 🛸 it along the water body leading directly to the waterfall. You can walk right up to the waterfall, go under it and take lots of pictures. (Might need to queue ⏳up if you are late) Then walk 🚶‍♀️🚶🚶‍♂️back a little to the runoff and there is a pool 🛁 you can dip 👙🩲🩱 in and enjoy. It’s really nice when the sun rays hit the waterfall and the rainbow 🌈 forms. Truly a beautiful gift from Mother nature. Do be afraid to walk in and enjoy the moment. 🥰

Breathtaking!! Along with Benang Stokel, the most impressive waterfall in Lombok. You will get your feet wet as you have to walk in the water at some point but the walk is easy. Only 10 minutes from the first waterfall which is nice but not stunning.
Claudio C — Google review
The journey here is adventurous but absolutely worth it! You walk through the jungle and sometimes have to wade through the river, so open shoes are best. The waterfall and the surrounding area are truly breathtaking!

Entrance fee 20k. A lot of tourists had a guide, however pretty straightforward to get there by yourself. One section where you need to wade through ankle to knee deep water. Some monkeys around as well so keep snacks in a bag. Whole area is pretty rubbish free which is nice to see.

We visited this waterfall the day after our Mt. Rinjani hike. It's the second waterfall after Sendang Gile waterfall and absolutely picture-perfect. You can reach it in about 20 minutes from the first waterfall. The trek is relatively flat, except few stairs to climb. Overall it is a must see waterfall.

Sendang Gile Waterfall

4.6
(1994)
Nestled in lush, scenic surroundings, Sendang Gile Waterfall is a picturesque site featuring two different waterfalls accessible via trails. A 20-minute walk leads to the spectacular Sendang Gile, while a further 40 minutes along the track brings visitors to the beautiful Tiu Kelep falls and natural swimming pool. It's recommended to bring swimwear for an invigorating bathing experience.
Sendang Gile Waterfall 🏞️ can be accessed via two popular entry Gates. North ⬆️ side is Gate 1️⃣ and to the West ⬅️ is Gate 2️⃣, my entry was via Gate 1️⃣. (Read my review on Gate 1 to understand why Gate 1 is better) This waterfall is about 15 to 20mins walk from Gate 1, entry fee is Rp$20,000 for tourists 👒👗. It is mostly walking 🚶🚶‍♀️downhill. So, just be mindful that you will need to walk uphill when you want to get out! 😆 This waterfall is a straight drop from about 4️⃣ stories high. We walked in and took a massage under the water Lol 😅 It is strong 💪 so, be careful! Catching the sun 🌅 rays at the correct angle, you will get a view of a rainbow 🌈, it’s beautiful. It’s a nice place to take pictures 🤳📸, relax, and have a break. Shops sell snacks 🍿, drinks 🥤🧃, public toilets 🚾🚻 to change and use. If you are going in, be mindful of your belongings 🎒📱. Keep your eye 👀 on it or rotate with your friends to enter. The other pro tip I will offer is, if you have a drone, bring it with you and fly it. It was amazing to fly up the path and see where the water came from. After this, you can continue to walk to Tiu Kelep Waterfall. Another 20mins walk, see my other review 📝.
Ivan P — Google review
Must see! Bring water shoes, you will need to walk through water streams for the second fall. When you arrive at parking they will try to sell you a tour guide and tell you it’s hard trail and you can get lost and hard to find waterfalls. This is not true, you can go by yourself and impossible to miss the falls, just follow the path.
Emmanuel P — Google review
Amazing waterfalls! Cost 20k each to enter and took about a 15 min walk down/up jungle steps to reach, but they were gorgeous and very worth it! There is also toilets and people selling food/beverages but I didn’t use or buy any so can’t comment on those.
Megan W — Google review
2 of the Best waterfalls I visited sofar. Took a guide from the village to help me pathfinding . Easy walk from the village along the water Channel which supplies the village. 20-25min walk, almost flat. You can Even Go there (or on the way back) by bike taxi- let your guide know. To the second fall its another 20-30min. Path gets a bit more rough, climing rocks and wading through the river. At least for this Part you have to take off your shoes. Bring towels and stuff to clean your phone/ Camera. Dry bag or Camera housing helps too. Great nature and good place for picture taking! Be there early, it can get crowded.
Sandro P — Google review
Going down the stairs for just a few minutes and you’ll arrive at this beautiful waterfall. It’s a nice spot to take a short break, enjoy the scenery, and cool off before continuing your journey to Tiu Kelep.
Dwi F — Google review
The path to this waterfall is very easy and beautiful. It involves about a 10-minute walk down some stairs. At the bottom, you can buy drinks, corn on the cob, etc. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed at this waterfall. From here, you can reach another, even more beautiful waterfall in 20 minutes.
Armon — Google review
Visited this waterfall the day after completing the Mt Rinjani hike. This is the first waterfall which is just a short distance from the entrance - probably around 10 to 15 minutes. The second waterfall which is Tiu Kelep is a must visit as it is much spectacular. From here it may take like 20 minutes to reach the second waterfall.

THE VIEW!!!! WOW. Had a chance to camp here one night and it was unforgettable moment in my life. To be here was uneasy after you did Rinjani tracking, however the track was quite plain. After you reached here, you will feel awe by its charm, it was beautiful. To be advised to not swim in the lake, because the water contains sulfur. One thing that I remember when we hike here, we had a chance to see local people doing their ritual. It's once in a year event and we managed to see it. Really awesome experience that wont be easy to forget!!

I swim in this lake in the morning. Even though the water is cold, but the air in Segara Anak much more colder. So I prefer to swim because it's warmer than you stay on the land. Not really clear water but many local people do their traditional ritual here. They here together here before go down back to their village. Really beautiful lake in the top of the mountain.

Waroeng Senaru is a charming accommodation in Senaru, Indonesia, offering comfortable rooms and a perfect location for hiking Rinjani. The staff's kindness and care are exceptional, as they go above and beyond to assist guests, even rescuing a stuck motorbike in pouring rain without expecting anything in return. The homestay is recommended for those wanting to visit the waterfalls, with clean rooms and convenient access to the waterfall entry.
Rooms are on the smaller side but super clean. Beautiful garden. We were booked in here by our trekking company women adventure, that we can highly recommend for rinjani trekking. Breakfast was a good sized omelett or three banana pancakes. Couldnt complain about portion size.

I loved my stay here! The rooms were clean, water was hot, AC was cold, room was dark, no bugs inside. What more can you ask for! Breakfast was omelet, fruit, and coffee. And the staff was very helpful.

During check-in, I was shocked to find both hair and a blood stain on the bedsheet. When I brought this to the manager’s attention, I was told it was an isolated incident. Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case. Over the course of our stay, I observed several housekeeping staff simply pulling back the sheets, sweeping the bed lightly, and then putting the same sheets back in place—without changing them. This was done consistently across multiple rooms that I could see. The lack of basic hygiene and cleanliness is deeply concerning. I would not recommend this hotel under any circumstances. If you do choose to stay here, I strongly urge you to thoroughly inspect the sheets and pillows upon arrival. Cleanliness should never be optional. This hotel failed that standard.

We stayed one night before going for a rinjani trekking tour. Rooms were almost clean and spacious. Unfortunately, the towels had a very unpleasant smell after we used them, and there were some ants on the bed. Food was good, although it took a little while until it was prepared. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful.

We spent one night before our Rinjani hike there. The rooms were spotless and modern, so nothing to change here. The management seems a bit chaotic and needs some work, when we were dropped there, nobody was at Checkin, towels for the room came only in the evening and no explanation was given about anything. The food was sadly the worst of our stay so far. Dinner was very simple and the Iced tea was only water. The breakfast was even worse. We got to choose between 2 options (2 were bot available) and only got one small omelette and tea, no toast and the fruit platter was also not available. Not the best breakfast before a hike. So there definitely needs to be some work done by „management“ to use the potential, otherwise search for a different stay.

We spent a night at Waroeng Senaru and it had the best hospitality in Lombok! The gardens were beautiful, the rooms were charming, and everyone was so kind, accommodating, and proactive. Thank you so much! Their restaurant was also delicious with super friendly staff.

Rinjani Lighthouse Cottages is a charming mid-range accommodation located at the top of a hill near the starting point for the Mount Rinjani trek. Owned by a friendly German family, this property offers traditional Lombok-style cottages with wooden frames and thatched Aleng-Aleng roofs. The lobby is welcoming, overlooking a spacious garden, and the cozy rooms feature wooden beds, mosquito nets, and hot showers.
We stayed for two nights, either side of our overnight trek to the crater. The first night we were allocated a ground floor room. It was pleasant but we were very aware of the occupants of the room above us. A kettle was provided but no tea bags or coffee. The staff were very helpful and their English I thought was of an excellent standard. The food served for dinner was plentiful. Whilst they do not serve beer, we noted that guests were not discouraged from bringing their own. Our luggage was stored safely. Upon our return from our trek, we had an upstairs room which seemed more spacious and had a lovely balcony. The breakfast of banana pancake and fresh fruit was delicious. I can also recommend the chocolate brownies, which were freshly baked. There is an ATM 10 minute walk down the hill.

Stunning location even more beautiful people. We had an incredible time relaxing and exploring the area around Rinjani Lighthouse. It is walking distance to the most beautiful waterfalls and a very family friendly property! Our kids loved exploring the lush grounds and playing soccer in the grass field. The staff was attentive and some of the kindest people we have ever met. Coffee is spectacular, you can eat every meal on the property - delicious food and great prices. Can’t wait to come back!

We dropped by spontaneously after a local recommendation and were warmly welcomed. Within minutes, we had a private coffee tour organized – guided by two incredibly kind and funny women from a nearby village (great English!). We learned about coffee processing, tasted three varieties, and hiked through beautiful plantations to meet a local farmer. She showed us how high-quality coffee is harvested and answered all our questions. We even got to pick some cherries ourselves! The tour ended with a scenic viewpoint and a delicious lunch back at Lighthouse. A perfect mix of nature, culture, and coffee – highly recommended!

We stayed in Senaru at the foot of Mount Rinjani for four nights and discovered Rinjani Lighthouse Cottages on our second day. The place is beautiful, well-kept, and very inviting. After our first visit, we enjoyed it so much that we came back at least once a day for the next three days. The coffee is amazing, and the food is also very tasty – a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

We had a lovely stay at Rinjani Lighthouse Cottages. This place is beautiful and the staff is amazing! They are kind, helpful and speak good English. The rooms are open, spacious and the bed is really good. There is no AC but you don’t miss it because the temperature is nice due to the open character of the rooms. It can be a bit noisy though and the bathroom is flooded after showering. We had a great stay, the restaurant is really good and we would recommend this place to others!

Please come here! The restaurant is open for everyone! We probably had the best food here throughout our 3 week trip. Also very cozy atmosphere. So we had not booked rooms. Can't say much about that except that the facility is well maintained and the stuff is absolutely great.

Beautiful location, which feels like a green paradise. Staff really went out of their way and the cottages were very comfortable, and the bathroom was exceptionally nice. Also ate at the Warung on site, and the food was excellent. Included breakfast is great too. Would definitely return!

Stayed for one night before our rinjani hike. Our welcome was warm and the food was excellent! The view is great and the staff tries really hard. Kudos! The rooms however need some attention. Decent bed with full protection against bugs. However, the cealing was half broken and very noisy with hearing everything from our neighbours above us. The shower left something to be desired too (which is one thing you'd like to be good before a long hike). And to top it off, we found an enormous spider in our room when we entered. Luckily, a staff member helped us with that. (And too be fair, you are in Forrest type of area). Recommend to pre check rooms before letting guests in. Everything else was clean and as you'd expect. Another pointer is the breakfast. The staff seemed to be very familiar with early morning pick ups, but do not have take away breakfast options. We had breakfast included, hoping, like other hotels, a decent take away breakfast would be possible, especially with so many guests doing the rinjani hike. But the only thing what the staff could do was to offer cold coffee and cold pancake?? The argument that was used is that the hike organisation would give us breakfast. Which basically means that we paid for something and didn't receive it. Id strongly urge the hotel to look into this. In short. Come here to eat and the staff will work hard to facilitate you. And if you don't mind the basic nature of the rooms a night here is ok. But don't book it with breakfast or book many night here if you're looking for comfort. Hope this helps.
