Vung Tau is a popular seaside escape from Ho Chi Minh City, known for its easily accessible beaches and relaxed coastal atmosphere. Ben Thanh Market is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Ho Chi Minh City. This bustling hub offers an authentic glimpse into Vietnamese daily life, showcasing a vibrant mix of handicrafts, clothing, and local delicacies. As one of the city's busiest markets, it’s the perfect spot to indulge in delicious street food while shopping for unique souvenirs and home goods. The lively atmosphere extends into the night market area, where visitors can savor popular dishes amidst the energetic buzz of city life.
Ben Thanh Market is one of the must-visit places Ho Chi Minh City. It is one of Vietnam’s most famous and historic markets. Built in 1914, it offers a vibrant mix of local goods—clothes, bags, shoes, dried food, nuts, fresh fruits, coffee powder, souvenirs, handicrafts, and street foods. The market’s bustling atmosphere makes it a lively and interesting place. Bargaining is necessary when you are buying something here.
CS C — Google review
You can spend a lot of time in the market and it can be intense and at close quarters with everyone keen to get your business. Prices are very negotiable. Its a great place to eat at a good price. The shopping is the surrounding streets is just as good and more enjoyable. There are some fixed price shops around which probably give a fair price although there can still be a bit of room to move. Generally at the other shops they will start at twice what they want. Of course if you have time it's best to try a few and you will usually get a good offer when you are walking away.
Paul J — Google review
A nice market with a high energy vibe! There are many shops of many different kinds of products. There's also a food court for your heart's delight. The food was very inexpensive and good. There are many styles competing for your patronage so you will have many food options to choose from with highly reasonable prices. It's also shoppers paradise for cheap bargains. Notice I said bargains because the prices can be negotiated up to 70 to 80% at times 🤪🤪 that of course depends on the shop and the item not everyone is as lucky 😂 but overall it's an enjoyable experience window shopping for a bargain. Hope you enjoy!
Kaveh S — Google review
ben thanh market is giving full sensory overload in the best way possible THE SHOPPING SITUATION this iconic spot is pure chaos but in a good way. the stalls are packed with everything from vintage ao dai to lacquerware that actually slaps. bargaining is expected, so bring your a-game. THE FOOD COURT VIBES the indoor food section is lowkey fire with stalls serving everything from proper pho to banh mi that hits different. it's the perfect place to sample multiple street eats without braving the heat. THE LOCAL EXPERIENCE yes it's touristy, but the energy here is next level. the constant buzz of vendors and shoppers creates this electric atmosphere that's uniquely saigon. come early to beat the crowds and heat. THE FINAL CALL if you want that classic market experience with all the sounds, smells, and flavors of hcmc, this is your move. embrace the chaos and you'll have a core memory in the making. don't forget to ❤️.
Yumz — Google review
I had high expectations for Ben Thanh Market, but the experience was disappointing. The place is extremely crowded and chaotic, making it hard to enjoy browsing. Many vendors are overly pushy and keep following you, which gets uncomfortable after a while. Prices are heavily inflated, and you really need to bargain hard — otherwise, you’ll end up paying far more than things are worth. The quality of some products also felt questionable. Overall, it felt more like a tourist trap than an authentic shopping experience. Ben Thanh Market was not as enjoyable as I expected. The place is too crowded, and it’s difficult to move around comfortably. Most vendors are quite pushy, and prices seem much higher than normal unless you bargain very hard. The market feels more tourist-focused than authentic, which made the experience underwhelming. My verdict: Ben Thanh market experience is not good, annoying vendors with forced sales, sophisticated inside, high price for tourist and arrogant people
Raj M — Google review
Ben Thanh Market is definitely a well-known spot in Ho Chi Minh City, especially for tourists. If you are looking for souvenirs, small gifts or general tchotchkes to bring home, you will find plenty of options here. It is busy, colorful and full of energy, which some people might really enjoy. For me personally, I did not find it particularly interesting. Most of the items felt very tourist oriented and not especially useful. Prices also start off quite high because it is a tourist-heavy area, so you are expected to negotiate. If you do not bargain, you will almost certainly end up overpaying. If you are looking for better quality items or things you might actually use, I would recommend checking out Saigon Square instead. It has a wider range of products, more reasonable prices and a more practical selection overall. Ben Thanh Market is fine for a quick visit if you want the tourist experience, but there are better options in the city for real shopping.
Ron T — Google review
This market is definitely worth seeing, but if you don’t mind wandering through the city you’ll find much better offers. You’ll notice the vendors are far more aggressive than other markets. Everyone is friendly though and they’re eager to sell. If you’re willing to bargain you can get really good deals. I’ll admit, I’m not so good at bargaining.

Art museum
Nestled in a stunning colonial building dating back to 1929, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts. Since its opening in 1987, this museum has showcased an impressive array of both Vietnamese and international artworks that span from the 4th century to the early 20th century.
Didn’t really see this on many guides to Ho Chi Minh but would definitely recommend if you like art museums. Interesting and beautiful building (lots of people there just to take photos standing outside). Good variety of work. Only had an hour and half but could have spent more time wondering round at a slower pace. And as not as popular as other tourist spots was relatively quiet so no rushed atmosphere.
Ama D — Google review
Overall I liked the place, definitely worth the ~$1.5 entry fee. Some rooms have AC, I think that's more to preserve the work than cool the guests. Lots of beautiful young people come here to take photos of themselves, which is in stark contrast to the intent of an art gallery, to appreciate artists and their work. The lighting was a major let down, lots of the spotlights didn't work which meant some of the art had lopsided lighting. Best part was the lower room of building 2, which seems to entirely house work from the last few years. Interesting that there wasn't any of the vapid youth in this area. Some of the art down there was incredible, at least to my tastes.
Devin L — Google review
The museum building is a colonial-era mansion. There are exhibits both outside and inside. There are collections of both ancient and modern art. Overall, a very interesting museum, and it's nice that it's full of young people! Absolutely worth a visit!
Tanya S — Google review
Nice place. Has a great collection, and well categorized sections for people with different interests. A good place for young learners to learn about Vietnamese visual arts mostly. Would recommend to improve the lights of a few galleries as those create high glare on the glasses of the artworks or texts, which makes a bit difficult to understand from a distance. Nonetheless great place and a place I would recommend for the art lovers to visit.
Souradeep D — Google review
Super nice place! could be a bit more preserved but you see that there is an effort on make everything as good as possible. You dont get to see much museums with modern art in asia, so this definitely worths the visit. You can quickly get a ticket at the door, and its around 1,50 dollars.
Gustavo H — Google review
Nice museum, good for understanding historical background and culture. Main idea of most expositions is reflecting on war & peace. But too many people doing photoshoots, they are literally everywhere and sometimes behaving weird like touching paintings etc
Elena L — Google review
Highly recommended to anyone to visit!!! Located in district 1, the museum is lovely from outside. It was used to be one of the most richest guy’s house in Sai Gon back to the past. House with 99 doors. There are 3 floors in total. Each of them show either paintings or art works of numerous Vietnamese artists. Each of the architects very special and beautiful. We went here in the afternoon in weekday so it was not too crowded at all. Beautiful sunshine on the building. The balconies are special and good for taking photos as well. The ticket price is 30.000 (1.2$) per person. I would love to come back here again if I have a chance to visit Ho Chi Minh City Just wonder about the security issues as there are no cameras and guards, how they gonna protect all the works
Q L — Google review
I’ve have visited this museum three times in 20 years. I am never disappointed. The gallery grounds are improving with a new building(s) dedicated to contemporary Vietnamese art. The museum continues to hold one of the best sculpture-garden collections in South-East Asia.

My wife and I were here this late morning to check out this much talked about shopping mall in Ho Chi Minh City - both of us are first time visitors to Vietnam, and we are from Singapore. In my opinion, this shopping mall is on par with the better shopping malls in Singapore and may come across as a more Japanese location with a multilevel Takashimaya store therein as its anchor tenant, and the many other Japanese retail and food and beverages stores, which can also be found here - in particular, Uniqlo, ABC-Mart Grand Stage etcetera. However, this shopping mall also houses local Vietnamese branded stores as well as some familiar global brands. Therefore, this shopping mall in my opinion is worth visiting for tourists and locals alike. By the way, there is a nice rooftop garden here as well.
Edtayjb — Google review
Spent the whole day at Saigon Centre and honestly loved it! The mall is super clean and modern, with so many shops and restaurants. We had brunch there, walked around shopping for a few hours, then grabbed coffee and watched people from the balcony area. In the evening, we had dinner downstairs and the lights made the place look even prettier. You can easily spend a whole day here without getting bored!
Hassen A — Google review
A solid, reliable shopping mall that gives a sense of safety and comfort. It’s home to many globally recognized brands and restaurants, so there’s nothing particularly novel or unique, but with even Japan’s Takashimaya inside, it truly feels like a classic, tried-and-true shopping mall.
Sachi N — Google review
Beautifully designed and decorated, inside and outside. Their food court is amazing with a lot of cute cozy Café bars and restaurants. Big variety of shops, definitely something for everyone

I really enjoy going to this mall It’s always festive or seasonally decorated, and the location is very convenient for downtown There are many cafés to get some work done as well as tons of food options in the basement and upstairs if you’re looking for a meal I don’t really go to many of the shops here, but it’s good for people watching

Diamond Plaza, located in Ho Chi Minh City, is a well-established shopping destination with an elegant Parisian architecture. Situated near popular attractions like the Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Post Office, it offers a diverse range of retail stores including fashion boutiques, jewelry shops, and Korean cosmetics outlets. The mall also features dining options such as Baskin Robbins and Dim Sum House. Visitors can enjoy entertainment activities like watching movies or playing games in the entertainment area.
Diamond Plaza is a stylish, upscale mall tucked in the stylish core of District 1, right across from the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral. The elegant blend of colonial architecture and modern glass design gives it a distinctive Saigon charm. Inside, four floors feature luxury cosmetics, fashion, accessories, gadgets, and home goods. Floor four offers an array of Vietnamese and Asian eateries, plus entertainment like bowling and cinema. You’ll appreciate the thoughtful amenities — kids' play zones, baby care rooms, clinic, and VIP seating — all wrapped in a calm, well-maintained setting despite being in the city’s busiest area. It’s a polished, convenient spot to shop, dine, or unwind — and definitely photo-worthy.

awfully quiet inside, makes you not want to look at anything… otherwise there is a lovely terrace on the fifth floor, great for watching the sunset with a view of the cathedral and the post office !
Yui Y — Google review
A small mall compared to others in nearby vicinity. Shops have limited stock options too. A lot of them are in an open space. It is a high-end shopping mall with high-end brands but you can also find Nike or New Balance in it. The food court only has a few restaurants with a coffee shop in the middle. Only giving four stars because of their beautiful garden on the fifth floor and beautiful Christmas decor on the outside.

It’s supposed to one of the oldest department stores in ho cho minh city, but it does not look or feel old from the outside as well as inside probably the did a good job renovating. There is a rooftop garden with a good view here so you can come and rest or chill when it’s not too hot.

I am writing a review mainly to complain about the cashier system. When I want to purchase a product even some food I have to go pay to some cashiers around the corners and these people are often rude and grumpy, also it makes me feel uncomfortable because I want to pay directly to the sellers not them.

Pho Hung is a renowned noodle shop in Ho Chi Minh City, known for serving classic southern-style pho with either beef or chicken. The restaurant offers a flavorful broth and serves the dish with steamed bean sprouts, lime wedges, chilis, and fresh herbs. Despite being famous for its pho, Pho Hung also offers coffee flan and great service. The prices at this establishment are reasonable compared to other popular places in District 1.
Went here on a friend’s recommendation. Everything was fresh, soothing for the throat, and full of flavor. It’s great that they’re open late, making it the perfect spot for satisfying your midnight cravings.

The Pho was amazing so flavoursome and lots to add at your own choices. The staff were great and the lay out was good. All in great place. I had a mixed meat and it was great I also had an iced tea and dough sticks (quãy) would definitely go back.
Christopher G — Google review
It's probably the most flavoursome pho I've had in Vietnam. You can add as many greens to your soup as you wish. The broth really has depth. It's a local place but caters nicely to foreigners. The beef was ample and was really tasty. The beef at many other places is just bland.
Inspired S — Google review
The service was great. They provide vegetarian option as well. Very fast service.. and flavourful. The watermelon juice is super refreshing. My mom likes her meat well done and the staff were super nice and accommodating. They allowed us to place our luggage while we ate. Thank you so much Cam on :)

It was not very special, but it is delicious enought to try beef brisket noodle. They have quite much of quantity inside the bowl. It was good enough to win the hangover. Try the noodle with the fried bread. If I have chance to visit here again, I will do it. And I can introduce here to my friends too.

It's Phở restaurant, which was selected as "Selected" by Michelin. Actually I visited here long time ago but I cannot remember how they were, so I tried again. When I visited this time, it was rainning so not so many customers were coming. Then I had Pho Tap Cam (all in), then it came within a minute!! The fastest serving in Michelin Pho Lol. Anyway, The pho was quite standard and tastes good. Perfect as standard but not special. The price is a bit pricy due to Michelin. If you are looking for the The Standard Phở, then it's nice place to visit.

BEST PHO AND SERVICE EVER Love the soup and mango smoothie so much. The staffs were so friendly and supportive. They recommended their signature drink and asked me if I get any allergy or no dairy. One time, I didn’t have enough money to afford it — I was short by about 2,000 dong. The staff was very kind and let me have it without paying the full amount. I felt grateful of their service. However, I still decided to come back the next day and pay the full price (don’t copy me, always bring cash guys). I highly recommend this restaurant you all

Phở Bình is not your typical noodle-soup spot. Despite its unassuming appearance, there's a lot to discover at this restaurant. It was once the covert base of operations for a secret organization. The North-style Pho served here is exceptional, and visitors rave about the fried banh quay. While enjoying your meal, you might even catch the owners watching TV or witness the occasional motorcycle being driven inside for parking.
I have been in Vietnam more than 10 years. This is my most favorite pho store in Ho Chi Minh City. Must come and eat chicken and beef pho.
Daniel C — Google review
Pho was excellent. They do this thing, which I've seen elsewhere in Vietnam, they put a puff pastry on the table and say 'you eat, you buy, you no eat, you no buy'. How many tables has that item been to already? Touched? Breathed on? Meat/dairy inside spoiling? Disgusting and uncalled for. Other than that, good place for pho.
Tom T — Google review

Good food, and a special history. This was the Viet Cong headquarters during the American war. The Saigon Communist resistance did its planning and kept arms here. The Tet Offensive soldiers all ultimately answered to the second floor of this noodle shop (which, in turn, answered to Hanoi). The second floor apparently has been kept at it was back then, and it probably will become a museum some day. Today, however, I just enjoyed the pho.
