A small little zoo located just uphill past the shrine. It's free admission, and easy to navigate as the map is just a loop. Paid parking is available, but I walked here instead. A lot of the animals were present and relaxed under the summer heat. It was cute watching the zookeepers tend to the bunnies and chickens! You can also interact with the sheep by purchasing the feeder from the gift shop to feed them. They're also one of the noisiest animals in the zoo. 🐑 Overall, Satsukiyama zoo is great for all ages and families to visit!

If not we would have gotten to see more animals. I really love this place! Avoid 12pm to 2pm as it is their lunch time.

For a zoo with no entrance fee, Satsukiyama Zoo is a very generous & welcoming zoo to many. There are petting zones and several animals to see. Do note that most of the animals seen here are animals that can also be found in Australia, because of its sister city relationship with the Australian municipality of Launceston, Tasmania. It is also highly understandable that they don't take care of too many animals. Do take note, that travelling to this zoo will require some walking and some light hiking up slopes as the zoo is located around the base of mount Satsuki. I’d also cover your shoulders if possible, knees didn’t seem so much of a problem. The smaller shrine near it is the centrepiece in my opinion though. Great for pictures under the line of Torii gates and also a quiet place to respite from the city life.

The stalls were nice and the fireworks was good, but nothing really special. Leaving the venue was very difficult, as it was totally overcrowded. Overall, nice one-time experience.

The shrine is very crowded and traffic restriction is imposed during Tenjin Festival happening around end of July. Ceremonies, performances and parades are conducted around 3pm during the festival.

There was an interesting event happened. Man wearing traditional clothes on horse back doing archery. It was so cool and unexpected interested experience for me as a foreigner. The only thing was that the main hall was under maintenance and covered.

For now, you may want to skip this visit as they are undergoing some renovations. I hope to pop by when they completed the renovation. Locals still come by and do their prayers as per normal.

The narrow alley leading to the temple, Hōzenji Yokocho, felt worlds away from the busy streets nearby—quiet, atmospheric, and lined with lanterns. I got a goshuin here too, a nice little memento from such an unexpected hidden gem in the middle of the city.

A wonderland of greenery with adorable route and mild slope up and down, great for the runners for the elevation training. It possesses a massive land of woods with shades covering most of the pathway, as a joy walking in it during the summer heat.

I visited this place in the last few days of October. Some trees are beginning to change into autumn leaves. Place is full of locals and not very popular for tourists, mainly because of location but it’s accessible by train (Midosuji line) there are historic houses/buildings and the rest of the park is clean, peaceful and perfect for picnics.

This park specially in Autumn gets another vibe with its Colorful leaves and people's togetherness. It has enough space so that people can come enjoy their day long tour with family, friends or even in groups to have picnic, B-B-Q and relaxation. It has also a Museum so if anyone wishes to know about the traditional housing system of different prefecture of Japan can visit as well.

Nice park with a lot of different spots to chill, walk, relax and enjoy a nature break. Amazing colors during the Fall, I specially liked the lights in the Gingko and Bamboo trees. Pay a visit to the open air Farm Museum nearby, really good experience there aswell.

Wide open area of greenery in the middle of Osaka. Lots of people and family in the weekend but you will not find it is packed since the area is so wide. Fun activities can be found here such as street bazaar, gardens, campings, barbeque, children playground, and many more. Very recommended place to have a healing.

I do jogging there. It is a good place for that if you circle around it with lot of shade, same if you just want to tbke walk. There is even a small bamboo area. If you go inside the park on evening the central plaza kind of become skater territory. Big playground to kids. So not so many shade if going in the center.

On a recent business (ahem) trip to Osaka I decided on a whim to get sushi in the Naniwa Ward in Osaka. I googled, yelped, and perused Instagram for a lunch spot. Sakanaya Rokusen Sushi Honten hit all the marks and it was just a short stroll for me. I arrived just before opening so was second in line just behind an influencer from Singapore. I figured she was either that or a hungry tourist with the latest vlogging set lol. We were warmly greeted when the doors opened and both led to the bar area which is perfect for travelers like me. The menu was traditional paper or modern tablet. I ended up using the OG menu for the pics and the tablet to place my order. The menu had many choices and I decided on the Unagi lunch set and Japanese Beer on tap. I also added three pieces of Tuna Nigiri with a dash of Wasabi. Service friendly and efficient. The Unagi, Tamagoyaki, Miso Soup in front of me before I could quote my romantic love and death Haiku to the lovely waitress. The Tuna Nigiri followed with a second round of icy cold Biru! I enjoyed every bite of the high quality Unagi, savored the fatty Tuna, and every drop of Biru! What amazing sushi and tempura! It took us a little time to figure out the digital menu tablet in English, but once we did the 6 of us dove in. We started with single sushi orders and then built up steam. For people with 6 different tastes, this system and their great choices gave us a great dinner. I was thrilled with the eel, the handrolls, and the shrimp and vegetable tempura. One of my table mates ordered one of the sashimi boats...and a literal wooden boat showed up at the table. The restaurant was easy to find near the base of the well-lit Tsutakaku tower.

Side is a compulsory non foc item after 5 pm and explained to you upon entry. Menu has interesting items like fried whale skewers and bbq eel liver. We had the eel set which had a variety of sides like tempura etc. Overall a nice first meal in osaka
