Kimitsu in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Kimitsu, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Kimitsu offers easy access from Tokyo to some of the Bōsō Peninsula’s standout natural scenery, including the forested Yōrō Valley, known for riverside walks and vivid autumn foliage. The area features popular spots like Nomizo Falls and the photogenic Kameiwa Cave, where light and water create striking reflections. Nearby Mount Nokogiri, on the city’s border, provides hiking trails, dramatic cliffside views, and large Buddhist carvings. Kimitsu also has several onsen facilities, making it a relaxing base for exploring rural Chiba.
With favorites like Hotel Kimitsu Hills, Mt. Kano, and Hitomi Shrine, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like SOBA ABIRU and 喜楽飯店 so you can get the best taste of Kimitsu while you’re here. Mother Farm, also known as Mother Bokujo, is a popular destination in Chiba, offering a wide-open area filled with friendly farm animals like sheep, cows, pigs, goats and donkeys. Visitors can pet and feed the animals in designated areas and take part in activities such as horseback riding. The Mother Farm Tour DX provides a tractor train ride through the meadowlands with stunning views of Tokyo Bay.
Farm, with lots of farm animals accessible, including horseback riding, milking cow show, pigs, sheep, a sheepdog herding demonstration, lots of flowers, grass fields to play in, walking paths, a sizable restaurant, animal feeding opportunities and an amusement park. Plenty of activities to keep you and your children busy for at least half a day or more. It does tend to get busy during weekends and public holidays. On a school day in Japan it will be calm. Very enjoyable, meticulously clean and friendly staff. Reservations advised, especially during weekends / holidays, though walk in mostly no problem. Definitely a recommended destination with children. Large parking.

Fun place for kids and family! Mother Farm in Chiba is a great place to visit. The duck parade was cute, and the sheep show was interesting—they showed different sheep from around the world. The dog and sheep show was really good, and the pig race was fun. Kids will love it! The cow milking was okay but a bit overrated. There’s also a small amusement park with kids’ rides and an overhead cycling track. On a clear day, you can even see Mt. Fuji! A fun day out for the whole family.

September 14th 2025 it was warm weather and since we were up in Mother Farm the breeze is cooler. We sweat a little bit during that day. We took our 11mo old baby, 5yo child and Father-in-law and his wife. The farm/park is beautiful. We didn’t get to the flower field because they cannot walk far. We only get to do the sweet potato harvest and watch the show that started at 1pm. Some of the animals like the sheep are in the barn with the pee and poop around them but it looks like soaking in pee and not too many hays. Some sheep you will see them outdoor. Our 5yo fed the horses. That was fun. We walk around and eat some of the food from the food truck. The restaurant has a long line. To get there was a little bit of a hassle because we drove and didn’t have ETC to pay for the toll. They dont have card or cash option. I enjoyed seeing the scenic route even though it took us 3hrs instead of 1hr and 20 mins. We didnt purchase the ride around the farm which i thought it would be helpful.

It's a wonderful place and it seems like it's especially made for children, so I think it's a great place to bring the family. If you are lucky, you can watch your child chase a pig around. Watching children chase pigs seems to be a very popular event here. The place is very large and there is a lot of other things to do as well. My only advice is, if you want to take the tractor tour around the farm, you should get there right when they open and get your ticket right away. Space is limited and they sell out fast. The tours are every 30 minutes. Even if you get there a little late, you may have to wait several hours before a tour is available. Overall I think it's a great place and I still recommend it.

An incredibly comfortable glamping experience. We were fortunate to score the NZ Cottage which was similar to a hotel room stay, but with that glamp factor. Just a suggestion for the bedroom window near the roof to be curtained up... The package comes with half boarding, and the bbq dinner is very well prepared for your cooking. We stayed during autumn, but the tent awning kept us warm during the cold windy night. The seafood option was especially tasty - we'll opt for it tomorrow. Mother farm itself has many activities to occupy the family. Strongly recommended!!!

Visited in mid June 2025 when the hydrangeas were in full bloom. The farm was huge with many zones for all members. The shows in Agro Dome were great. Plenty parking only 1000yen for a day. Entrance ticket can be bought at booth or online for 1,400yen per adult.
Sivaporn S — Google review
The guinea pigs and rabbits can be petted even though they seem stressed. Many of them are in tiny separate cages, I wish they were in a non stressful comfortable environment where people can just watch and not touch them! More consideration should be given to the animals.

Kanozan Kujukutani outlook park is a scenic viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the mountains and valleys, making it a popular spot for stargazing and watching sunsets. Although the parking spots were closed during our visit on May 24th, street parking was available. The park has benches to sit on while taking in the breathtaking vista, as well as a wheelchair accessible toilet that was in good condition.
Gorgeous view from the observation deck. I had a packed lunch here. Very refreshing to eat next to the beautiful scenery.

This summer is super hot,I drove around chiba seeking for a cooler place and tried here, it’s about 400m height, expected cool wind from the woods but actually no cool wind. It was still so hot & muggy. Better go Tochigi area if you look for cooler place near Kanto region. This kujukutani look down park is ok if the season is comfortable.not a place for middle of summer. Restroom and a vending machine are here. I could not find the peak of Mt.KANO, it should be around here but not this park is. I’ll try here again in autumn or winter.

At time of my visit (5.24) the parking spots were still closed. But parking on the street was possible. It has nice view over some smaller mountains. There are benches to sit and a toilet which is in good shape. It's wheelchair accessible.

Scenic Walking Areas
Nomizo Waterfall and Kameiwa Cave offer a picturesque setting for photography, with water cascading through a circular opening amidst autumn foliage. Although the waterfall is small, it presents an interesting geological feature that resembles something out of a fairy tale. The location is best visited early in the morning during sunny days to witness the magical effect of sunlight passing through the cave. While not as breathtaking as photos may suggest, it still offers a tranquil getaway with free parking and several dining options nearby.
This is quite a nice place, with a really nice board walk that will look fantastic in autumn 🍁 as the surrounding trees are maple trees. There's two paths leading to the hole in the rock, one is a light forest trail and the other is a wooden board walk. I think the hole itself is famed for when the time and sunshine is right, it will create a heart shape. Otherwise, to take a better picture of the turtle rock, you need may need to step onto some areas with water.

Definitely not worth it the bus trip was 2300 each way and the nearest stop is 1.6km by foot way even though the bus continues right past front gates.. pictures of bus stop inc so you can find you way back from the wilderness.
Vitor T — Google review
A beautiful park with a rest stop and clean toilets. The highlight is the turtle cave waterfall. The trail is easy and short, best during spring or fall. Worth a stop if you are nearby.
Kim S — Google review
Nice little walk, really pretty and I would imagine more so during Autumn when the leaves are in full colour. Only about 15 minutes walk round trip.
Simon R — Google review
The best views are very early in the morning (6am-7am) that too on sunny days, so don’t expect to see sights like in the photos. Apart from that, it’s a nice and peaceful place. Has free parking and a few restaurants nearby.
Viraf P — Google review
The heart shape can only be seen in March and September for 1 hour early morning 6:30-7:30 and the Fireflies can only be seen in May-June so except for these periods it is just a simple forest walk. It has toilets and food stalls (in early August when we went there) not worth it traveling all the way to here just for this but in the area there the Kamogawa beaches so you can just visit it on the way to other local attractions.
ADEYTO A — Google review
A rare cave where a creek comes thru it. Magnificent view when the sunlight shines in at a specific time of the day at a right angle. The place is not big but with parking lots and shops on both ends. It is beginning a popular sightseeing spot in Chiba now and can get pretty crowded especially when tour buses arrive.
Raymond H — Google review
If you pass by it, no harm to stop by for a few shots. However, it’s really not worth driving all the way here just to see the cave as it’s nothing special to see.

Nestled in the picturesque Kamogawa City, Oyama Senmaida is a stunning terraced rice field that boasts 375 meticulously arranged paddies cascading down a steep slope. Spanning approximately 3.2 hectares at the base of Mt. Daisen, this unique landscape is not only visually captivating but also ecologically significant as it relies solely on rainwater for cultivation—making it Japan's only rainfed rice paddy system.
This is quite a nice view for a rice field. You need to be there in the right season and weather to get good pictures else it may just look like a green slope of overgrown grasses. When we were there, it is fairly ok as the weather was fantastic.
Rtexal T — Google review
You need a car to go there but it's really a peaceful place ! You also have the beach and beautiful temples not so far from there, it can be a good discover ! :)

I visited this place on a tour. Seeing it lit up, I thought it was incredibly beautiful. It’s apparently one of Japan’s Top 100 Terraced Rice Fields. It also seems to be the closest terraced rice field to Tokyo.

4/12/2025 Now one of the most famous touristy destinations in Chiba Prefecture. Definitely need a car to get there as it's almost on top of the mountain range. Around this time of year, they fill water in the rice fields and getting ready for rice seeding. Each time of the day shows you different tastes from the rice fields and worth coming back here in the evening if you've already come in the morning.

Soba noodle shop
Nestled in the serene surroundings of Chiba Prefecture, "SOBA ABIRU" is a hidden gem that beckons soba and tempura enthusiasts alike. This charming eatery, designed like a cozy log cabin, offers an inviting atmosphere where guests can savor handmade soba crafted by the owner. The restaurant's unique ambiance is complemented by its delicious offerings; the noodles are made with 90% buckwheat flour, delivering an exquisite aroma and texture that will delight your palate.

What a great little spot to stop and just relax, have something that is tasty, something you may not have thought you would have known you needed in your life. Have anything off the menu you won’t regret it. Simple, pleasant, relaxing, a moment for yourself or moment to look across the table and be glad your spending time with your special ones.

Very unpleasant owner Clarification update following the owner's response: I visited this restaurant during a hot summer bicycle ride and my friends and I were excited to eat there. We were disappointed to find it closed and stopped in the shade of the only tree in the area (next to the restaurant) to check whether our timing was off or find other dining options. Almost immediately, the owner came out of the restaurant and started yelling at us to get off of his property, threatening to call the police and berating my Japanese friend. He continued this after we moved to the road and ultimately referred to me and my non-Japanese friends in racist terms. Hence the "Very Unpleasant Owner" designation.

(Translated by Google) This is a rare restaurant where you can eat excellent soba. I don't want it to get famous and crowded, but it's a place that soba and tempura lovers should visit at least once. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a relaxed log house, and what's more, the food is handmade by the owner. The building next door is under construction, so the scale of the restaurant is easy to understand and it has a warm atmosphere that is very nice. The owners, a father and son, are also very kind, so I felt that the customers are not only attracted to the soba but also to their personalities. And the water, which is made with a generous amount of locally grown organic lemons, is delicious. After eating the excellent soba, you can finish it off with some soba soup, which is very refreshing. It's about an hour and a half from Tokyo using the Aqua Line, so it's easy to get there, and it's also fun to look for souvenirs at a shop where you can buy local ingredients at low prices (there's a picture of a turnip on the roof). It's a famous restaurant that you'll definitely want to visit again and again.

(Translated by Google) An absolutely delicious 100% buckwheat soba restaurant that was well worth the wait! I went on a weekday during Obon. I arrived around 1:30 PM and there were five other groups waiting. There seemed to still be spaces available in the parking lot. I wrote my name down and waited 20-30 minutes before entering the restaurant. I waited another 20 minutes and finally arrived! I ordered the sudachi soba (150g), and was impressed by how beautiful it looked! And, amazingly, I was told that both the skin and the seeds of the sudachi citrus fruit are edible. The moderate bitterness and acidity were a perfect match with the richness of the 100% buckwheat soba, and it was delicious. I personally love 100% buckwheat soba, and it had a nice chewy texture. I'd definitely like to come back again! I wonder if they'll be serving duck soba in October, so I'd like to come back then to try it. It's inconveniently located deep in the mountains of Kimitsu, but if you're going on a drive, I think it's definitely worth making this your destination. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, and even though they were busy, the staff politely greeted us as we left. It's perfect for a date!

(Translated by Google) I visited here around 1pm on a weekday. At the time, I was the only one in the luxurious space, but there were still customers. The soba noodles themselves were delicious. It was 90% soba noodles, and the aroma and texture were perfect. The sauce was based on bonito flakes, which I like, and was neither too sweet nor too spicy. I was very satisfied with just the soba noodles, but this time I also chose the staff bowl. It was a simple dish topped with bonito flakes, fried tempura bits, and egg yolk, but it was filling and, above all, the harmony with the egg yolk was exquisite. It was delicious. Jazz music was playing inside the restaurant, and the log cabin-style furnishings created a very good atmosphere. I would like to visit again, but since the location is in a difficult spot, I think I will stop by when I go to the Kamogawa area. It is very easy to find from the Boso Skyline. The only drawback is the toilet. It is in a detached building, so please be aware that you will need an umbrella in case of rain.

Banya.Head Hall is a seafood restaurant located in a small fishing port, offering traditional Japanese seafood dishes at affordable prices ranging from $15 to $25. The menu features local fish, squid, and sashimi, with photos for each item making it easy to order even without speaking Japanese. The restaurant is praised for its fresh and reasonably priced seafood, with seasonal specialties available.
Near a fishing port, the dishes made with fresh fish are amazing. Not just sashimi, but are delicious no matter how they are prepared. It's a popular restaurant where you may have to queue, but it's a large and the rotation is fast, so if you queue, you're sure to get in. However, be aware that ingredients may run out if you go late. A car is needed for access.

A seafood restaurant in a tiny fishing port. You can enjoy traditional Japanese seafood dishes. The price runs between approximately $15 - $25. Pretty good stuff. There are photos for each items on the menu, so it's not impossible to order without speaking Japanese, but the staff members don't speak English. So it's helpful to go with someone who can speak Japanese.

I went to this restaurant because I heard it was famous. It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. It is a restaurant that comes with a lot of food with cheaper prices. It was a good experience but I probably wouldn’t go back. It was a big restaurant and I felt like all the food was premade aside from the raw fish. However, compared to the Tsukiji or Toyosu market, it is cheaper and they give you a lot of food.

3.5 We had a great time here and enjoyed our stay. We thought we would have a nice view over the valley, but this view is only available from site 1, we were at site 2 behind the orange grove and in a gully. This was a little disappointing, but site 2 does have powered sites for an extra 1,000yen a night. The phone reception at site 2 is terrible so don’t plan to have access to the internet, you’ll need to climb out of the gully towards site 1 to use the internet. The road to site 2 is also a very narrow road, so be careful! Our last night was in the rain so it made the road quite muddy and slippery. Bonus is free fire wood! A great service to offer, thank you. 3 toilet and 3 sinks is not enough for so many campers, need more as most people had to wait 10-30mins to use. The mikan are delicious, especially the small mikan. Staff are friendly, too. Next time we go, we will try site 1 to get a different experience.

The site was located at the very end of the second site, and we were asked to use the two sites on different levels as we liked, and as they were separated from the adjacent sites, there was a sense of privacy and we were able to enjoy camping in a spacious area. The road up to the site is narrow and steep, but it's paved so even a fully loaded Cross Cub was comfortable. It's a little difficult for big cars, but you can get there somehow. I thought the toilets and hot showers were old-fashioned, but I didn't have any problems using them. I felt that I would like to use it again with groups and families. It's quite far from the nearest interchange in Tomiura, but there are roadside stations and supermarkets on the way, so it's also attractive that you can do some shopping. It was Golden Week, so the sites were almost full. There was a refrigerator and free firewood at the water area, which was very helpful. I forgot my cooler, but I was able to borrow the refrigerator and drink cold beer. There are two free shower rooms, so I was able to use them in the morning and freshen up. The families on both sides of me had set up impressive tents, and my small solo tent looked cute. I also enjoyed being able to greet them on friendly terms. The campsite is on high ground, so it's quiet, and most importantly, the price is reasonable, which is helpful. The mandarin orange orchard behind it is also fun, as you can enjoy the different citrus fruits that can be harvested depending on the season! I would like to visit this campsite again. The Kururi Castle is a reconstructed fortress situated on a panoramic hill in Japan. It boasts of a museum dedicated to local history and weaponry. Although the original castle has been reduced to a small mound, the new one built next to it is an epitome of beauty and rich historical significance. To reach this serene location, one needs to take the JR Uchibo zen (line) until Kisarasu station and then transfer to Kuriru line until reaching Kuriru station.
Great place to get away from city traffic or hassles. Please note after car parking you need to walk like 100-150 meters uphill & then couple hundred stairs to reach at castle. Take extra caution during rainy day

Can believe reached this place. Stunning view of the great castle. fortified structure that was predominantly built during the Middle Ages by nobility, royalty, or military orders. Good place to visit 👍👍

I love peaceful place. So i would give 5 star for this castle. It’s in top of the mountain we need to walk about 500m from parking and you can enjoy the castle and it’s surrounding view.

Nice castle up on a hill, which is easy accessible. Up on the hill it can be quite windy, so during winter time also chilly. You need to take your shoes out when entering the castle and the two stairs take you to the upper level for some nice views of the surroundings

A beautiful small castle on a small hill, but has a long history. The original place is now a small mound and they built a new Castle next to it. To visit this place you have to take the JR Uchibo zen (line) and get down at Kisarasu station. From there change take the Kuriru line and get down at Kuriru station. From the station you have to take a taxi to the castle entrance or if you go by car there is a big parking place. Walk up hill about 15 min. to reach the Castle. Nice view from the top of the hill.

A place where you can experience Japanese culture. A large building stands out. The castle is located on top of a mountain, so you can see the surrounding area for a long distance.

The castle tower is a reconstruction with nothing inside but the views are amazing. The museum shows the interesting history and there is a visitor center with pretty good food (boar curry!) at the parking lot. The castle is a 10-15 min climb up a slope and stairs from there.

The museum has some very interesting pottery and swords and it was free. The castle was closed for some reason so we walked up the hill to discover we couldn't go to the castle. Too bad.

The atmosphere is great, with helpful staff and cute cats. The only downside is that the scones don't have clotted cream. There's also a strong smell from a farm or chicken coop on the terrace, and you'll be bathed in a mist of water.

They were all so friendly, and it was so heartwarming to see them wandering freely around the garden. It's a perfect environment for cat lovers! 🐈 The English-style garden design is truly beautiful; every shot is picturesque, and the sight of the cats blending into the natural surroundings was amazing! We had a delicious meal and enjoyed the view from the window, enjoying a relaxing time. They also have a wonderful selection of antiques and botanical items, and the fact that you can find antiques at affordable prices is a great plus. This handmade paradise, where the owners' love is palpable in every corner, has a truly wonderful, warm atmosphere where people, cats, and insects are all welcome. The location, in a quiet forest just off the Boso Skyline, was also perfect; it felt like I'd wandered into the English countryside. This garden can be enjoyed throughout the year, not just during rose season, so I definitely want to return! 🌿 This is a truly special place that I would recommend to cat lovers, rose lovers, and anyone seeking spiritual healing! Nestled in a bustling area, 喜楽飯店 is a charming old-fashioned Chinese restaurant that has recently gained attention on TV Asahi's "Machikado Report." With its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, it’s no wonder this spot is always buzzing with customers. The menu boasts an array of delicious options, including their renowned special noodles, savory mixed fried rice, and flavorful stir-fried liver. Diners rave about the subtly sweet soy sauce soup that perfectly complements the chashu men.

(Translated by Google) 5/31 (Sat) ☂️ A short train trip from Soga Station on the Uchibo Line to Kururi Station on the Kururi Line. I knew from online searches that the Kururi Line doesn't have many trains running, but I missed the train that stops at Kururi Station and arrived around 8 o'clock because I was determined to arrive before opening. It was raining heavily, so I took shelter in the station for 2 hours and 45 minutes. In addition to the train that arrives at Kururi Station at 10 o'clock, there are trains that arrive at Kururi Station at 11 o'clock and 12 o'clock if you don't mind arriving before opening. I arrived at the entrance to the store more than 10 minutes before opening. The proprietress arrived with her staff while I was taking some commemorative photos. It seems that she has been purchasing supplies. As rumored, she is very charming ☺ There are chairs in the aisle, so I was asked to wait in the back. The store opened on time. I always order ramen and gyoza at local Chinese restaurants. The day before, I watched YouTube to see what everyone was eating, and the shrimp fried rice looked delicious, so I ordered some more. I was also interested in a dish like miso-braised eggplant and meat, but I gave up because it was only available in the summer. There was also a Chinese cabbage dish that was only available in the winter. I read online that they can prepare fried rice in 40 seconds, but the shrimp fried rice was brought to me within 5 minutes of ordering. The taste was subtle and gentle. The shrimp had a nice plump texture. Next came the ramen. The soup was carefully made by the chef over a long period of time. The soy sauce also had a unique richness to it. The noodles were medium-thin and straight, so the soup naturally mixed in and it was easy to eat! Perhaps because my body was cold from the rain, I was so absorbed in the hot shrimp fried rice and ramen that I was eating when the small dumplings arrived. Just as I had heard, they had a strong garlic flavor! I woke up after 2am and drove from Tomisato to my home in Chiba. After changing clothes, I went to the nearest Soga station. At this point, I was disappointed that I hadn't realized that there was a train that stopped at Kururi Station... 🙍 ⚠️Also, be careful because IC cards cannot be used on the Kururi Line‼ ️When I was meeting someone at Kisarazu Station, I saw the information on the electronic bulletin board and asked the train attendant, who told me that I could process the payment at the manned ticket gate at Kisarazu Station, so I went to the ticket gate and paid the fare to Kururi Station. I received a paper called a payment slip, which I handed to the station attendant when I got off. This was my first time using the Kururi Line, and when I told the station attendant when I got off, I was able to take it home as a souvenir! I'm sure Kiraku Hanten used to be open all year round, but now it is closed every Wednesday and every other week (Wednesday and Thursday). Considering their advanced age and health, I think it's a wise decision. My life is that of a wanderer mainly in search of great food in eastern Japan. In the past, I went to a hot spring in Ashinomaki, Aizuwakamatsu, and then ate at Ashinomaki Drive-In (now closed). At the end of last year, I visited the famous restaurant Eika in Tokorozawa. Speaking of the end of last year, Marutsuru, which was run by Jin Shirosaki's father in Itabashi Ward, also closed. It's so sad. Zetmeshi Shokudo near the SL Square at Shinbashi Station has inherited the recipes of a now-closed famous restaurant and is supporting the restaurant industry by donating a portion of its sales to support the industry, so if you're interested, please visit Karasumori Zetmeshi Shokudo!

The communication environment was bad and I couldn't use my smartphone. Therefore, I could not use PayPay for payment. Credit card is Visa and Mastercard only. The terrace seats were not well maintained and were not a comfortable environment to sit in. The atmosphere inside the store is stylish. The price is quite high. There are no photos on the menu, so it's hard to get an idea. Even if I want to look it up on my smartphone, it won't connect. I was told there would be a long wait for the food to be served, but it only took less than 30 minutes. The pasta noodles and sauce were both delicious. The quantity was also reasonable. The ingredients for the pizza were delicious, but the dough was not crispy or flimsy, which was disappointing. Although the size is 20cm, which is slightly smaller than normal, 2100 yen is expensive. It seems like it used to be very popular due to the large number of seats and parking lot, but it seems to have calmed down a bit now. Isn't it bad considering that you can eat slowly and the serving time is faster? Although it's a little difficult to recommend to everyone, it's recommended for people who want to go out with their dog or who want to eat delicious pasta in a stylish hideaway cafe. Nestled along the serene Katsura River, Tokko no Yu is a charming public footbath that offers visitors a unique experience of naturally heated spring water. This open-air oasis is steeped in history, with legends tracing back to the Buddhist monk Kobo Daishi, who is said to have created this hot spring by striking a rock with his walking stick.
You can visit and use this free hot spring at night. There was no one there at 7:00 PM, and the calmness and tranquility were exceptional. Don’t forget to bring your own towel.
Dima B — Google review
This historic onsen embodies the soul of Shuzenji, where natural thermal springs have been cherished since the 9th century. According to legend, the great Buddhist monk Kobo Daishi struck the ground here with his tokko (ritual implement), causing the first hot spring to gush forth - giving the baths their name and sacred reputation. The Experience: • Traditional wooden architecture that has welcomed bathers for generations • Waters particularly valued for their skin-smoothing properties • Peaceful garden views from the bathing areas While not luxurious by modern standards, Tokko no Yu offers something rarer - an authentic connection to Japan's onsen traditions. The adjacent free foot bath (ashiyu) lets passersby sample the waters, continuing the communal spirit that has defined this spot for over 1,200 years. More than just a bath, it's a living piece of Izu's cultural heritage. Tip: Visit early morning when steam rises dramatically from the waters. The nearby Tokko-no-Yu Chaya serves excellent post-bath matcha. Historical Note: Heian-period aristocrats and Edo-era samurai all made pilgrimages to these waters, believing in their restorative powers. The current building preserves design elements from Meiji-era renovations. Perfect for: • Onsen traditionalists • History enthusiasts • Those seeking the "real Japan" beyond tourist spots • Walking tours of Shuzenji's spiritual sites

One out of seven very historical onsen in this town. Nice to imagine how people were taking a bath here several hundred years ago! When we visited the place, there were signs mentioning to „not touch the water“. So just for watching. But there is a foot bath right next to it, which you can use for free. Get I and enjoy!
Ralf B — Google review
A cute little hot spring in the middle of the river. Unfortunately you cannot bathe here or even dip your feet, but you can touch the water with your hands (the English translation on the signs is wrong, you can touch it, you just can't enter the bath).

Beautiful unique hot spring in middle of river of small town! But you can’t use it.though. Nice to take pictures

This is not a foot bath although it looks like one. I don’t think you are actually allowed to touch it.. but you can be sneaky :D most everyone at least touches it by hand a little anyways. It is quite the sight to behold at night or even during the day. It gets your imagination going.

Hitomi Shrine is a serene and picturesque site located on a wooded hill, offering stunning views of Kimitsu and the Koitogawa river. The shrine's elevated position provides panoramic vistas of Tokyo Bay, with clear days revealing sights of Mt. Fuji and Minato Mirai. Adjacent to Kannon-do Temple, the shrine holds historical significance dating back to ancient times and was strategically important in battles.

I also purchased a goshuin book and was given a detailed explanation of the meaning of the embroidery. . After taking a walk around and taking in the scenery that can be seen from the temple grounds while I was having my goshuin written, we had a little chat, and the female chief priest seemed to have lived relatively close to where I live before, so we got into a conversation about Shinkeisei. (Translated by Google) I visited on Friday, June 27, 2025. I was looking for a shrine where I could pass through the straw ring before the "Summer Purification" and this was my first visit. By passing through the straw ring, I was able to purify myself of the sins and impurities of the past six months, and I hope to spend the remaining six months in good health and without illness... It was a hot day with good weather, and I was sweating just by standing there, but the sky was beautiful (^-^) This shrine is not large, but it is very clean and beautiful (*^-^) When I received the goshuin and shared the frog purification fan that I had researched in advance, the female priest politely responded and explained it to me (*^-^) The Boshu fan is one of the three major fans in Japan and is a traditional craft of Chiba Prefecture. The paintings of the frog and the god Hiki drawn by local Japanese painter Kikuchi Ayuko [Danchido] are so cute that I wanted to buy three different ones♡ The goshuin book has a wave pattern on the cover because over 100 of Ihachi's works were donated to the old shrine. I've always loved [Wave Ihachi], so I'd like to share my next goshuin book with him (^-^) Ihachi influenced the famous Katsushika Hokusai, who said, "He is the best in the world at carving waves" and "If you go to Kanto, don't carve waves!" ! The dragon is also very beautiful♡ I've digressed, but after doing some research, I found out that Ihachi's works were burned down in a suspicious fire in 1970 (>_<) This Myoken-sama is loved as the god of "eye disease Heiho" and "beautiful eyes", so you can also get amulets (^-^) (Original) 2025/06/27(金)に参拝しました。

It is a rare combination of temple and shrine. The enshrined deity is Emperor Yamato Takeru, who is said to have been involved in the subjugation of the Boso region. Located on top of a mountain, the grounds are surrounded by nature, with a quiet, pure air, creating a truly pleasant atmosphere. The goshuin (red seal) was handwritten, and it was impressive how carefully and beautifully it was written. The shrine building has a tranquil appearance, and visiting the shrine left me with a sense of peace and calm.
