Gerokgak, in northwest Bali’s Buleleng Regency, is a quieter coastal area known as a base for exploring Menjangan Island and the surrounding coral reefs, which are among Bali’s top diving and snorkeling spots. Parts of West Bali National Park are nearby, offering opportunities for hiking, birdwatching and mangrove/coastal scenery. Villages such as Pemuteran within the district have a more laid-back atmosphere than Bali’s southern resorts, with small-scale accommodations and local eateries. The area also provides access to sea temples and traditional Balinese villages that see fewer tour buses than the island’s major tourist centers.

With only 1 day to squeeze in as much activities as you can, we strategically grouped the must-sees, West Bali National Park and Menjangan Island with surrounding point of interests to make sure you don’t leave Gerokgak without getting the most bang for your time. West Bali National Park

West Bali National Park, also known as Bali Barat, is a protected area that spans about 3% of the island's land. It is home to diverse flora and fauna, including the endangered Curik Bali. Independent trekking is not allowed, so visitors need a guide and permit to explore the park's rainforests, mangroves, savannahs, and beaches. The park offers hiking routes with varying difficulty levels and opportunities for outdoor exploration.
You can take motorbike tour for 500k with a guide here. What an experience! The staffs were so nice and I am so sorry that I couldn’t make my promise to send the new map design as I got an accident and lost all of my data during the trip 🥺

This is terrible! It's a scam! Before we even got in, we were approached by someone claiming to be a ticket officer who told us we had to hire a guide for 950,000 IDR to enter. It's absurd! I wouldn't recommend this place at all - they're not transparent. Shut it down!
Decent, quite ugly. You can spot some unique animals.
We went snorkeling at Menjangan Island, which was wonderful. "Lots" of tropical fish, turtles and deer on the beach. (Unfortunately there was litter in and around the jetty area where all the boats stop for lunch.... the National Park should clamp down on this litter and ensure the tourists and guides clean up)...
Very beautiful part of Bali. We did a brilliant trek in the national park, our guide Idris was very knowledgeable of the wildlife and we loved our tour with him. Then took a boat over to Menjangan Island for snorkelling a saw so many fish and turtle! Great day and would recommend getting in touch with Idris if you want a great adventure.
So I rocked up with a driver and the price for a safari for which you had to have a guide was 900000 for 1-2 people but because we only had an hour spare the guy really came down in price to 750k - he jumped in the car and talked for a bit then we got out and saw a wild pig in a puddle and a couple of deer and some black monkeys then we went back. I went on a snorkelling tour from Lovina the next day to the national park waters - it cost 550k including lunch transport from Lovina and snorkelling and of course the boat - we saw the sme animals on the shore - do this instead
I often bring my guests to West Bali National Park, and it’s always an amazing experience. The park is full of wildlife, mangrove forests, and beautiful sea views , perfect for nature lovers who want to see the real Bali.

Deer Island really does have friendly deer that you can get great pictures with.
The snorkelling/diving is great, reefs good with plenty of colour & fish, highly recommend this for a day trip. The weather always seems good here so a good trip for the wet season.

Menjangan Island, located in the West Bali National Park, is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts. This unspoiled island boasts a rich marine reserve that attracts divers and snorkelers with its phenomenal coral garden. The area is also home to a diverse wildlife population, including Javan deer and Bali Starling. Unlike the bustling tourist spots in Bali, Menjangan offers a tranquil escape with pristine beaches and lush jungles.
When you want to snorkel or dive this is a beautiful place to visit. Just book a tour and have a nice experience. And when you are lucky you may see a sea turtle beside the coral 🪸 where you find real colorful fish.

Loving every corner of this Island! You could see the view of Mount Raung and Mount Ijen from here.
There are also deers living in this Island as Menjangan means Deer.
I think the fish here also friendly 😆 there is a group of small fish (10-12 fish) circling me around like more than 10 times when I was snorkeling. They literally followed me until I get back into my boat.
The minus is around the Sri Ganesha Temple there are a few of trash. Please do take an action.
One of best dive side I ever been. There was not or small currents and the visibility was super clear. lees of divers here.
Part of West Bali National Park. On the land, you can find many Menjangans (kind of deers), that is endemic animal of Menjangan Island & West Bali area. We are phohibited to touch and feed them since they are still wild animals and those actions can change their habit and behaviours.
Under the water, we can explore beautiful yet healthy corals & see many of sea creatures from sea fans, eels, and macro creatures like nudibranchs, etc.

Such an amazing place in North Bali. It is hot but worth the effort. Takes 15 minutes boat ride from the harbor to this island.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting Banyuwedang Hot Springs and it was a unique experience. ♨️🇮🇩
As soon as I arrived I was impressed by the picturesque surroundings - surrounded by lush nature and the soothing sounds of the water.🌴
The hot springs are arranged in different pools and the mineral-rich water is pleasantly warm, perfect for relaxation.😌
The facility is well maintained and the relaxation areas invite you to unwind. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the visit even more enjoyable.⛱️😌
Overall, I can only recommend visiting Banyuwedang Hot Springs - a perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Bali!🙏💯

While on holidays in Bali, the family i was staying with took me to the Hotspring. When I say hot it was really hot. I could only stay in for a brief time. I was enjoyable. My friends ordered us delicious lemon drinks that the staff brought down to us. They were very cheap but so nice and refreshing. There was a creek at the back with a lizard swimming. See photo.
A truly beautiful hot spring, located right next to a temple and a mangrove forest – definitely a special place. It’s by locals, for locals, and it carries the spirit of authentic, original Balinese culture. ❤️🙏🏻
I went here early in the morning (around 6:45 AM) and there were already few people there, most of them were locals.
Ticket was affordable (15k), no parking fee, locker is available to keep your stuff (5k), and i can say this hotspring is way better than Toya Devasya in Kintamani, because it was really hot, and great for relaxing.
They provide bathroom for you to shower after relaxing in the pool, but don’t know if they have towels for you to rent, because I brought it by myself from my hotel.
Definitely will come back here when I’m on the area.

Banyuwedang hotspring better to come here to relax after a busy days 😊, well the hospitality is good, but the monkey a little bit aggressive like to steal a food or something. The monkey sometimes appears sometimes not. But I enjoy it here
While the hot spring has great potential, I think it would be better if the dress code for bathing was more clearly defined. Soaking in the hot spring with clothes on can be a bit unhygienic. Nevertheless, the surroundings are lovely.
There were only 4 locals and when they left I had the pool for myself.
There are showers, toilets, lockers (5K) and a restaurant and everything is clean.
The water is very hot so you can't stay too long in the water.
The price is much more than before. Locals pay 15K and foreigners 45K.

After observing Google and conducting a search on warung, I opted to visit Dapoer Chandra and give it a shot. The portions are generously sized, reasonably priced, and the flavors of the food are exceptional. It's difficult to understand why some individuals would claim that the food is unremarkable and not worth returning for. When tourists visit Bali (or any other destination), they often expect high-end Hilton-like cuisine for just $3.
Love this restaurant. The prices are very affordable and the food is simply brilliant. The portions are huge and all is so so fresh. Staff is very friendly, we will be back many times.

Best restaurant in Pemuteran. Beautiful decoration. User-friendly. Just excellent!! All dishes are delicious, homemade and served in large quantities. The prices are not expensive. The hosts are professional and smiling.

Food does not get better than this. By far the best dishes we had during our trip to Indonesia! Writing this review more than half a year after leaving Indonesia, so yes this place is a core memory. Pure perfection. Definitely going back one day to try more of their food. The Ayam Sambal Matah, Mie Goreng, and Terong Balado are especially amazing!!
This is my favorite restaurant in the world currently. Enough said. But I will add that I have visited it repeatedly on two trips to Indonesia. They specialize in vegetable dishes, but there are also excellent chicken dishes on the menu. Prices are great. Service is gracious and kind.

Tried to get more drinks and no one to be found after I got my food. So ended up walking to the kitchen to look for staff. The table next to be was feeling the same way when trying to order more drinks.
They aren’t attentive. And the place wasn’t even busy so no excuses.
Great food, great prices! Thank you for making us feel full and feel at home! We would also recommend for kids, as there are toys and cushion seating as well. A family favorite.
