Flea & Street Markets
Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market is a traditional market that has been around since 1953 and is highly recommended for visitors. With around 450 stores, the market offers a variety of goods and food options. While it can get crowded, the seafood vendors are particularly popular for their fresh and delicious offerings. Visitors can enjoy watching the lively atmosphere with fresh seafood on display, although some may find the persistent soliciting from merchants to be a bit uncomfortable.
A lot of food! Absolutely recommended when you visit to sokcho! There is an actual fish market below to buy fresh seafood. The menus are not really English translated. A lot of sweets choices too.

Great place to have a wander. A fantastic display of fish, shellfish and crabs. Lots of lovely seafood restaurants around the market to have lunch or dinner. The people working in the market are very friendly and welcoming 🙂
Ann C — Google review
Great fish and seafood! Also all the market staff was super friendly and chatty which was really nice. No options for vegans and vegetarians
Varvara M — Google review
Walked the market selling street food. Plenty of choices and i tried their cake (white color) which is tasty. Bought their teokkboki, it was a bit spicy and less chewy compared to what i have tasted before. Headed to the basement for seafood - bought snow crab at stall 153 and had them cooked for me. Its 29k won per kg and additional 10k won charge for cooking. The crab meat was sweet and the owner was friendly. The fried rice was the bomb - the best i have tasted.
Iced L — Google review
A nice market to visit in Sokcho. Good number of shops around. We tried some local specialties here which were nice. We visited on a weekend so it was crowded
Rennie L — Google review
It had been a long time since I visited a traditional market in Korea, especially in this charming seaside town. The market was brimming with life—tanks filled with all kinds of fish, still swimming and waiting to be sold. Stalls offered a vibrant array of fermented and marinated side dishes, perfect companions for steamed rice. There were also colorful rice cakes, crispy seafood tempuras, fresh fruits, and snacks of every variety. It felt like a feast for the senses, with every corner offering something new to discover. For lunch, we couldn’t resist the allure of a grilled seafood restaurant. The freshness of the catch, combined with the rich flavors of the grill, made for an unforgettable meal. Traditional markets like these are more than just places to shop—they’re a window into the heart of local culture. The variety and freshness of the food, the lively atmosphere, and the friendly banter of the vendors all contribute to an experience that’s as rich and fulfilling as the food itself. It’s a reminder of the importance of preserving these spaces, where tradition and community come together so beautifully.
Peter S — Google review
The market is pretty big but you’ll notice only a few vendors are really busy. Definitely try the seafood vendors they’re really good and you can watch them cook in front of you. What I thought was weird is we went to one place and wanted something and they said it was sold out even though it was on display, and they said everything on display is actually fake. Crazy huh!
Warren W — Google review
Love the market. Plenty of fresh or dried seafood. They also sell cookies and cakes which you can bought as souvenir. Plenty of stalls selling deep fried prawn, cuttlefish, hotteok, twist doughnuts - to name a few. Will definitely come again.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Yeonggeumjeong Pavilion is a stunning seaside structure located on a rocky outcrop, accessible by an illuminated bridge. The pavilion was named after the geomungo, a traditional Korean musical instrument, due to the sound of waves hitting the rocks resembling its music. Visitors can admire the breathtaking view of the East Sea from this picturesque location. Additionally, nearby attractions such as Yonggeumjeong Sunrise Pavilion and Sokcho Expo Tower offer further opportunities for exploration and panoramic views of the city.
That wind breeze and the view is definitely 10/10. It’s my first visit this winter and I’m looking forward to enjoy more with calm weather ☺️
Lilian K — Google review
Pavilion located by the sea. It’s so lovely! Quiet, not crowded, nice views! I enjoyed the visit. The bottom pavilion was sadly closed for maintenance, I think from March to July this year. I was surprised as I didn’t see it online but do check! Still worth a visit as the top pavilion is accessible (where I managed to have some really good views)! It’s not crowded so the small pavilion manages to fit all the groups here. Some nice locals moved over to the sides once they were done with photos, so we could have a nice photo spot~
Rennie L — Google review
I had the opportunity to visit Yeonggeumjeong Pavilion during winter season, when the temperature was below zero. It’s an incredibly beautiful spot, especially for watching the sunrise early in the morning. 🌅 The atmosphere was peaceful with a refreshing breeze, though it was so cold that my hands went numb. 🥶🥶 The area was clean, and traveling there was very convenient, which made the whole experience truly memorable. ❤️
Ammiie A — Google review
Yeonggeumjeong Sunrise Pavilion is a beautiful seaside spot in Sokcho, perfect for enjoying the ocean breeze and stunning sunrise views. Perched on the coastline, the pavilion offers a peaceful atmosphere with the soothing sound of waves crashing against the rocks. The pavilion itself has a traditional Korean architectural style, adding to its charm. A short walk along the bridge leading to the pavilion makes the experience even more enjoyable, especially in the early morning when the sky changes colors with the rising sun. It’s an easily accessible spot near Sokcho Harbor, making it a nice addition to any Sokcho itinerary. While it’s not a large attraction, it’s a great place to relax, take photos, and appreciate the natural beauty of the East Sea. Overall, Yeonggeumjeong Sunrise Pavilion is a must-visit for early risers and those looking for a peaceful scenic stop in Sokcho.
Thắng M — Google review
Luckily, we went here during autumn. And it was not hot. Just bear in mind to bring your sunglasses. This place is clean and not many people went here during that time. Really nice view from the pavilion. I saw many stalls and shops selling food, but I did not have enough time to try any food here. Maybe I need to come back here again and spend my time walking on the street and buy food.

Place to see sun rise...very simple but beautiful ocean view. Spend 10-15 minutes- took few photos and left.

This is one of my favorite places in sokcho so far. Beautiful panoramic views of the sea beach and the place has an aesthetic touch to it. Very calm and full of solitude vibes. If you want to spend some lonely time or if you want to come with your lover, in both ways you will be satisfied! No entrance fee

Parking lot
Sokcho Central Market, also known as Sokcho Tourist and Fishery Market, is a vibrant destination for tourists offering a wide array of street foods and a lively atmosphere. The parking lot is small and can be crowded on weekends and holidays, but the fees are reasonable. Visitors can receive a 30-minute coupon for parking by spending over 10,000 KRW at the market. The public parking lot is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the market.
a public parking lot for people visiting Sok Cho local traditional market. parking fee is so cheap - 300 won / 30 min and very close to market, 5min on foot.

Clean and lots of seafood. They got the basement area full of sea food restaurants that I found on my second to last day. Wish they had more alternatives to sea food like fried chicken etc..
Mike C — Google review
It’s a huge place with many food options.
Geraldine T — Google review
The parking space is very small, especially, we have to wait lots of time to park the care at weekend or holiday. but the fee is very reasonable. If buying any good and food at the market over 10,000 KRW, you would be having a 30 minute coupon. but the coupon can not be used more than two sheets at one time. the mean is we have to pay cash from over one hour even though we have a coupon. For the easy parking to enjoy Central market, let me suggest you to use City hall or nearby city hall parking area because they are closed from central market, about less 10 minutes by walking and additionally it is free.
CY Y — Google review
Good location and parking lot that can accommodate many cars. However, the price is high and the coupon is only discounted for 1 hour. You have no other options.

If you're in Sokcho you should visit this place; it offers a nice view of the surroundings for only 2,500 won entrance. Unfortunately you can't buy any drinks or food for now. The park near the tower is great for slow walks and relaxation.
Melline G — Google review
It's quite worth to have a short stay here. We came here for the night view, but the time a bit early, so we also have some wall and rest at the park down the tower. The view of morning and night of the tower are different. So after became dark, we bought tickets and go up to see sokcho night view. It's very quiet when we there so we able took a lot of photos at upstairs and there's not so many people. After see the night view, we came down again for it's night time colored tower.

Ferris wheel
Sokcho Eye is a captivating ferris wheel that offers breathtaking panoramic views of Sokcho. It stands tall, providing stunning vistas of the East Sea, cityscape, and natural landscapes. The slow-moving ride allows ample time to admire the beauty of Sokcho both day and night. Whether for a romantic proposal or a fun outing with family and friends, each group can enjoy their own car for an intimate experience.
It's located nearby the Sokcho Express Bus Terminal and Sokcho Beach. A good place to visit with your families, friends, or lovers. The ticket costs 12000 won and maximum 6 people on board. The ride lasts for about 15 minutes. I think it will be good to ride during sunset. You can purchase the ticket on site
Ellana A — Google review
A gently moving ferris wheel offers nice views of the ocean, an island, Sokcho beach, and Sokcho city. The price per adult is 12,000 KRW (approximately $10). Air-conditioned capsules.

스닠왇SNIKWAD — Google review
It costs 12,000 won for an adult fare. The Ferris wheel moves slowly so you have plenty of time to take in the beautiful views of Sokcho. We waited in line for about 10 minutes. It also lights up at night making for a cool photo op. I would recommend checking it out if you are visiting Sokcho !

Best boneless spicy chicken I have ever tried! One good thing about this chicken is that you don't have to finish it all after you open the box. It still tastes as good after you bring it home or next day. I also love the box design. It comes with ventilation holes and is neat and pretty to look at and carry around. And considering the recent chicken price surge in Korea, its price (20,000won) seems reasonable. If a branch were near my place, I would not hesitate to order this chicken. Lastly if you can love spicy dishes, go for a spicier one rather than a regular one. I think the former tastes better!
Benjamin J — Google review
I was puzzled why all the chicken has already packed into boxes. When ordering, mentioned in the menu. It's good to eat when cool down. Must be special and give it a try. Oh no, worst fried chicken in Korea. Totally agreed those negative reviews.
Jessie G — Google review
Chicken was better than expected! I still prefer hot ones in restaurants but this was pretty good. Nice marinade and the chicken was still crisp and tender even when cold. Worth a try! Box was huge though. Would be better if they had half size!
Rennie L — Google review
I think it was alright but not worth coming all the way from Seoul just to eat here. When I was there, the market was packed, but the service was quick. Every thing was already packed in boxes and there is only one size, one item, so you just pay and go. There are no places to eat around and the box is large so you will have to find a place to sit down and eat. They also recommend to eat them when cooled, so I think it's something you supposed to take back home to eat. But afterwards when I ate it later at night it was already sticky and soggy, I think I liked it better when I was still a big warm and crispy. Sauce was okay, not too overly savory or sweet, but not a surprising kick to it either. I still think fried chicken served hot and fresh is still better. The portion is large, and there is only one portion, you will need atleast 2-3 people to finish it. Probably should just get one with your friends and enjoy it over beer or something. But yea, nothing overly special that you will have to get out of your way to try. Price was high as well.
Natthakul — Google review
I had my doubts because usually chicken like this that is boneless is all batter and no chicken. But I was extremely pleased that it's very lightly breaded and has huge chunks of chicken. Was tasty and good even cold. I don't even like fried food. But would get this again.
David C — Google review
I don’t know why this food english name is “sour chicken” anyways if you like chicken, you should taste this! Actually i also didnt expect alot cus in Korea has lots of nice taste chickens but here is different especially after day! When you bought should left some, then if u taste on next day its really more tasty! Some of shop who dosent use fresh chicken for fried.. you cant feel that day but if you left some then taste after day you can feel some fishy smell But here is totally not anf worth to wait if there is not much line.. please endure!

Abalone restaurant
Sokcho abalone seafood casserole is a popular dish in the area, known for its rich and delicious flavor. The casserole typically contains an abundance of clams and raw abalone that quickly cooks in the boiling soup. While some have found the soup to be on the salty side, others have enjoyed its savory taste. The restaurant itself may be a bit secluded, but it offers a great opportunity to savor ear shells and other sea products with family or friends.
I was a bit worried considering the reviews but it was near my hotel so went in the morning. There are only two things on the menu, so naturally we got the most expensive one (~22,500 won) which was the abalone soup. It was absolutely DELICIOUS. Soup had heaps of clams, the abalone is raw but cooks quickly in the boiling soup. There is a rich seafood salty taste and the banchan was good as well. I am so glad we went! Best to catch a taxi there as there’s not much around there.

Great place for enjoy an ear shells (3) and other varieties of shells with some of sea products. You never forget the great taste from the soup in the hot pot. The soup will be salty sometimes. Or you have to remind them not to make to strong or salty. Good for family. But you have to wait to enjoy the food, sometimes more than an hour.

I visited again this time and the old taste came back~^^ The price is a bit expensive, but the soup is really refreshing. I ate it when it was 20,000 won, but now it's 22,000 won...ㅜㅜ It seems like there is no choice as prices are rising these days. It's still delicious, so try it even if it's expensive~ It's especially great for hangovers~~ In the past, they kept refilling the salted fish. Now just one episode...ㅜㅜ It's delicious to eat herring roe seaweed with rice~~ The amount is quite large. I feel really full after eating~^^ I enjoyed it because I felt like I had found my old taste again.

Dongmyeonghang Daegyemaeul is a hidden gem located at the end of the dried fish street in Dongmyeong Port. The facility is clean and the owners are generous. The price of crabs varies depending on the market price, but visitors have enjoyed various side dishes such as water sashimi, tempura, jeon, and more along with delicious snow crab.

Squid sundae, potato rice cake assortment, raw fish, raw fish, salted fish, shrimp, steamed flounder, corn cheese, fried snow crab, maesaeng transfer, mushroom sweet and sour pork, conch? at? Surprisingly, if you order a set menu, you get a side dish as a side dish. I give you all these configurations;;;; Do you call it sukidashi?? I'm embarrassed because it's my first time giving this much money. Snow crab ramen and snow crab fried rice included in the set menu... This is my first time leaving snow crab behind... The composition is really the best. They say it was aired on Delicious Guys, so if you go to Dongmyeong Port, be sure to go there. The price is highly recommended. It is 70,000-80,000 won per kg when it is cheap, and 150,000 won when it is expensive. This is a restaurant I visit every year when I go to Sokcho. Since the price of crab is not cheap, I went to Daege Village after choosing where to go. I ate breakfast and lunch as snacks, so I went to eat crab around 4 PM. Since it was not meal time, the store was quiet. There was no parking lot in front of the store, so I parked near the beach and went. There was a villa in front of Daege Village, so the sea was blocking it, but when I went up to the second floor, I could see the sea view on one side. There were 8 people, including a baby, and we ordered two large crabs for two tables, but as expected, the price was shocking... Shrimp, green onion pancake, raw fish sashimi, raw fish soup, and abalone sundae came out as sashimi, and scallops were served as a service. The crab was well-cooked and came out after about 20 minutes, but the food was all delicious. They gave me a pot and noodles for ramen, so I cooked them myself, but the sauce was weak, so it was a bit bland. After eating all the crabs, they mix rice with the crab intestines, which is delicious. I can't eat there often because of the price, but it's worth coming here once. However, I think it would be better to eat at a place with a view of the ocean.

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's is a well-established fast-food chain widely recognized for its burgers and fries. Recently renovated, this particular branch boasts modern amenities such as touchscreens for ordering in both Korean and English, the option to pay by card, and customizable meal modifications. With convenient features like WiFi, outdoor seating, and parking available, customers can also opt for online ordering with delivery service.
Korea's MacDonalds is on another level. They give you reusable cups when you dine in and it looks classy with the (unfortunately disposable) caps and straws. Burgers looked a bit small but were very nice. The price is half of Lotteria's (another burger joint) so i guess that's why there was a crowd there. Has parking onpremise too.

McDonald's is here. You can enjoy the most famous and the fastest food.

This McDonald's just got remodeled over the winter, so everything is nice and new. After the remodel, they added touchscreens for ordering (available in both Korean and English) and you can even pay by card and make modifications to your meal. It's all very convenient. Wifi, outdoor seating, parking all available. Plus, you can order online and have your food delivered from this McDonald's. However, the wait time for online delivery is a minimum of 2 hours, so if you want to order online, your better off just ordering in advance of when you want your food (you can order days in advance if you really want to). Overall, it's a nice, clean McDonalds, but the service could be a little faster.

Day 2

Proximity is everything
For day 2, we bundled attractions like Seoraksan National Park Seorak District and Seoraksan Sinheungsa Temple and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

I have spent half day at Seoraksan park, and I'd recommend to be there a full day or even more if you like trekking, and being in the outdoors. There are quite a few treks/hikes for different levels. I personally did the Ulsanbawi Rock ascent. The last bit is very steep so be sure you are fine with heights and in a decent shape. I loved it!

We visited Seoraksan National Park while on our annual trip to Korea to visit my wife’s family. We drove to the park and found parking easy. It was a very pleasant way to spend a day enjoying the beauty of the mountains and the history.

Had an amazing day hiking in Seoraksan! I did Towangseong Falls Observatory, Ulsanbawi Rock, and Geumganggul Cave — honestly one of the best hikes I’ve ever done. The autumn colors were just incredible, and the trails were super well-marked. Totally worth the effort! 🍂🏞️

Very nice place to visit and generally easy to navigate. That being said, if you are Seoul based it does take a very long time to go back and forth. You will likely spend 6 hours back and forth for a two hour visit. Unless of course you choose to take the scenic route instead of the cable car. In that case the walk will definitely be 3 hours trekking and including stops more. Definitely worth a visit though if for nothing else just for the fantastic views.

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks

Seoraksan Sinheungsa Temple is a Buddhist temple located on a mountain slope in South Korea. It is a popular attraction, especially during the fall season when the surrounding area is adorned with vibrant colors. Visitors can reach the temple by hiking or taking a cable car. The temple features a bronze Buddha statue and offers stunning views of the serene winter scenery. Additionally, there are opportunities for challenging hikes to Ulsanbawi and visits to Geumganggul cave.
One of the most popular temple/hike attractions in the fall of S. Korea and it did not disappoint. We just missed the height of the fall colors but was told it's beautiful on all 4 seasons and the winter scenery is amazingly serene! As popular as it was the driving into the park was very long and slow so we ended up parking lower and walked an additional mile each way. Hiking up to Ulsanbawi is challenging but the views from the top are worth the trip. No longer required a ticket to enter.
Kummi K — Google review
Famous temple here! I didn’t realize but it’s actually located at the bottom of the mountain (you don’t have to take the cable car up to reach the temple). It’s nice as you can see mountain view from temple grounds. It’s also my first time seeing a temple blanketed with snow. What a nice view! It was a nice walk around :) Free entry, and the grounds a really quiet and serene. Not crowded too

Along with the mountain track, this is the ultimate place to visit and get some spiritual vibe. Typical 17C style of Korean Architecture but the environment is surprisingly cozy and inspiring.

This a Beautiful temple next to the mountains. There are several buildings on the site and you should take time to visit all of them. It is definitely worth stopping by on your way to Ulsanbawi rock. If you are there at 10AM, you will have the chance to see a monk singing while praying.
Jérémie T — Google review
The biggest temple in the national park and one that has quite a long history related to Seoraksan. It's also on the pathway to the most popular trek (to the exposed granite tops) so its worth a stop here.

Absolutely stunning !!!! We we on a cruise around Japan, which had one detour stop in South Korea. We had great weather to explore this incredible national park. It is breathtakingly beautiful. Take the cable car up to a great vantahpoint from which you can get an arial view of the national gem. You can also pay your respects at the base of an enormous Buddha and visit an ancient temple. There are lots if hiked into the mountains, but we only had a couple of hours to explore. You could spend a few days in this park. We only got to scratch the surface of what it had to offer. The gardens are spectacular and beautifully maintained. This was a great way to spend what little time we had to explore a patch of South Korea.

Visited on a windy day when the cable car up Seoraksan was suspended. There were very few visitors on the trail to Biseondae Rock. Had a lovely windy time there. The trail went along a rocky river which was frozen over.

It's an easy out and back hike to view this huge piece of rock. Worth to do it on a separate day as Ulsanbawi Rock hike as it's in the opposite direction but possible to do this and Ulsanbawi in a single day.

Visited on 27 Oct 2024. The foliage are peaking. The colors get more intense at the higher elevation. Last 600 before reaching Buseondae is rocky. Might get quite slippery if it rains.

If You Visit One Place in Korea: Biseondae If I were to recommend just one spot on the Korean mainland, it would be Biseondae. This is a place that welcomes everyone—young or old, local or foreign—offering a relatively easy and accessible hike that leaves no room for excuses. 1. A Place That Never Disappoints I’ve visited Biseondae countless times, and not once has it let me down. It’s a place that adapts to your emotions and elevates them in ways you can’t quite explain: In happiness, it doubles your joy. In sorrow, it gently cradles your heart. In snow, it transforms into a breathtaking winter wonderland. In rain, it feels as though you and the mountain become one, an almost magical connection. 2. A Place for Love and Reflection Biseondae is not just a destination; it’s an experience meant to be shared with someone you cherish. It’s the kind of place that solidifies the reasons you’re with the one you love. And if life leads you to part ways with that person, it’s also the place that will help you find the reason why. It’s a space for reflection, healing, and rediscovering what truly matters. 3. Beyond Words Biseondae isn’t just beautiful; it’s a place that words fail to capture. It doesn’t need grand descriptions or convincing arguments. It simply is. *** Just Come. Drop everything. Let go of your worries. And just come. Some places aren’t meant to be explained—they’re meant to be experienced. Biseondae is one of those places.
석신 — Google review
Biseondae Rock is a large rock located in the Cheonbuldong Valley of Seoraksan Mountain. The rock blended with a giant surrounding rocky wall creates a mysterious atmosphere. When it rains, water flows down through the rock and forms a small waterfall. The stream of water winding around the rock is considered the magnificent view, which is similar to that of the Manpokdong Valley in Geumgangsan Mountain. When the season changes, its landscape boasts different scenery: full-blown flowers in spring, green and refreshing trees in summer, colorful autumnal leaves in autumn, and white snowy view in winter. Due to such a mysterious landscape, Biseondae Rock bears a legend in which Taoist hermit called Magoseon enjoyed scenery of this place and ascended to heaven. The name of Biseondae, meaning the rock (dae) where a Taoist hermit (seon) flew up (bi) to the sky, originates from this legend. Nice, flat walk. We wanted to continue to Oryeon Waterfall, but it was closed, so at least we went up to the cave. There is a sign, its closed from 9 to 14, but we saw people even at 15 and it seems its not an issue. There was a monk in the cave (he must be incredibly fit). The way up to the cave is steep, from stones or stairs, nothing for a person who is afraid of heights. But the view is totally worth it, it was amazing. Conditions: Rocky, Great!
Sohan.14_ — Google review
I recommend visiting the cave at the top as the views are absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. Even though the trail is well built it can be quite steep with lots of steps... the ending part can be challenging for those with fear of heights. Going up and coming down took me about 40mins of intense cardio. P.s.- did not seem like a major trail given I only saw two people on its entire durations. Be sure to take precautions, specially while coming down when stepping on semi-loose rocks

After a long, beautiful hike at the Seoraksan National Park this was a delicious treat for our feet! It's a small, basic place, clean and for 1000 Won you pay for the towel to dry your feet and a little mat to keep your bum dry as you sit and soak your feet. After paying, you take off your shoes and clean your feet at the rinsing station only then go find yourself a nice spot to sit. If you enjoy boiling your feet like I do, sit near the source where hot water enters the pool! Test and see what you prefer. The locals are friendly and we even had a great laugh at my red feet. They gestured that we walk the cold stream lined with pebbles after, to get the max out of this experience. Again lots of laughter as I struggled to keep my back straight and "relax" as I walked barefoot on these pebbles. Our feet felt SOOOOOO good after this!!! Really recommend this experience especially because it's local, small and friendly.

Market
Located right in the heart of the city, Jungang Fish Market offers a vibrant and bustling experience for visitors. The market boasts a diverse selection of fresh seafood and cooked dishes, including Korean traditional pizza, fried finger foods, natural juices, and desserts. While some vendors accept cards and transfers, it's advisable to bring cash. Additionally, parking is convenient with each purchase granting a 30-minute parking card for up to two cards per transaction.

Crazy huh!

Beautiful scenery. In the summertime it's really busy. Fireworks (but security limits them), night market food stalls, carnival games, and lots of photo ops. Daytime it's packed with families and night time you're not allowed in the water but it's bustling with people out for an evening stroll. Worth visiting in the summertime for day time and night time experiences. They gave public washrooms (really clean), and air or water pumps to clean your shoes or feet once you're out of the sand. Safe, kid friendly, and lots to do/see here.

The renowned restaurant 감나무집 in Sokcho is famous for its delectable potato noodle soup, a dish similar to gnocchi but with a chewier texture and served with soup. This establishment prides itself on offering an authentic version of this specialty, evident in their exclusive focus on serving only potato noodle soup. Customers simply need to specify the desired quantity, and within minutes they are presented with piping hot bowls of this flavorful soup.

The potato noodle soup was great. This is the most well-known place in Sokcho. The potato noodle is like knocchi except it's more chewy and comes with soup. If you want authentic potaoto noodle soup, this is the place. Their confidence show in the fact that they serve only one dish: potato noodle soup. You just tell them how many you want and the hot soup is delivered with minutes. Be sure to get there before the lunch crowd as the line can get very long.

We were lucky to take a seat right away. We didn’t wait at all. I recommend to get there a little before rush hour lunch time. Ingredients were fresh and tasty. Service was amazing. Server gave us extra side dishes that we liked. Nice ocean view was a wonderful!

It was too crowded, especially during lunchtime on weekends. When I left around 1 PM after finishing my meal, there were 90 groups waiting to be seated. The ocean view from the restaurant was nice. The food was served quickly and tasted okay, but it wasn’t particularly impressive and was a bit overpriced. The cold raw fish soup had a sweet and sour flavor, contained crispy shredded apple.

The restaurant is famous for 물회 aka cold raw fish soup, which is Sokcho’s local food, but we came on a rainy day so we didn’t wanna eat cold dish, and we’ve already tried 물회 at another place. So, we ordered: Abalone Porridge 보양 전복죽 (16,000KRW) Mussel Soup 섭국 (15,000KRW) Squid Sundae 오징어순대 (14,000KRW) The food was delicious, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is really good as it’s located just beside Chungchoho Lake, so you can get a nice view.

Great taste of mulhoe. The raw fish was fresh. The restaurant gets busy during peak meal times, so recommend to come slightly earlier to avoid the queue and to get a window seat table overlooking the lake. Recommend to try when you're here. There is many local tourists visiting and enjoying their meals with their family.

The restaurant offers a lovely view and has friendly, attentive staff. The place is also very clean, which adds to the overall pleasant atmosphere. However, the food was underwhelming—flavors were mediocre, portions were small. Given the high prices, it didn’t feel worth the value.

Amazing mulhoe with a stunning lake view! The restaurant is clean and cozy, and the staff are super friendly. The café downstairs is also lovely. Plus, they give 10% off for restaurant guests. Highly recommend!

Tasty Mulhoe (물회 - Iced Raw Fish Soup) but very very pricey - mainly because it's in one of the top tourist cities in Korea - Sokcho (속초). Great view towards Chungcho Lake (청초호). Plenty of parking. Got there at 10:30am and no line. Came out at 11:30am and huge line.

Fresh seafood for the haejeon mulhoe, the mussel soup is nice. Superb side dishes. Really love the sweet bean and pasta side dish. The uni bimbap is average though. Great view for lunch time, too bad we came during dinner. Do note that takeaway is not allowed.

Dongmyeonghang Saengseon Sutbulgui is a must-visit for seafood lovers, especially those who enjoy grilled fish. The restaurant offers an array of delicious side dishes that perfectly complement the smoky flavors of the freshly grilled fish. Diners rave about the mixed grains rice, which adds a delightful touch to the meal. While you may encounter long waiting lines and need to grab a waiting number ticket, many agree that the generous portions and reasonable prices make it worth it.
Very nice

Famous, but not up to its title. The fish is cooked well and tastes good, but its a bit greasy.

Restaurant
Yeecho buckwheat noodle is a highly recommended establishment in Sokcho, offering the most delectable noodles that one can find. They also provide both hot and cold broth served in kettles, allowing customers to savor different flavors. It is certainly worth a visit either when visiting Sokcho or en route to Seoraksan. However, it is important to note that their opening time at 1010 may seem unusual.
You rarely get the chance to try home-style cooking as a tourist! Do not miss the opportunity to try cold buckwheat noodles at this underrated restaurant! Suitable for lunch or dinner.

This place has the best noodles I've tasted by far, and they give you got and cold brother in kettles for you to try both! Definitely worth a visit when you're at Sokcho or oyw to Seoraksan. One thing to note is that they open at an odd time at 1010.

Delicious cold noodle dish. When I heard about korean cold noodles, I thought it was strange (me, a Westerner from Europe). But it's delicious! And the buckwheat pancake (메밀전병 memiljonbyong) was great!
Matthias D — Google review
The noodles are served cold, with ice. Not to me or my wife's taste. Maybe in the summer...
