Waterfalls
Nachi Waterfall, located in Japan, is a stunning natural wonder with a height of 133 meters. It is considered the tallest individual waterfall in the country and consists of several streams that flow from Mount Ogumotori. The falls are surrounded by an old-growth forest, adding to their majestic beauty. The waterfall holds great cultural significance as it is revered as the sacred body of Hiro-jinja Shrine. Visitors can witness traditional events held at the falls in July and December each year.
Quite a unique experience. This is a must visit if you are along the coast of Wakayama. From the parking lot, there's a 100 metre pathway which leads to series of stairs (3-4 storeys) to get down to the viewpoint for the Nachi Falls. Expect to spend up to 30 minutes here not including the hike up to the Temple.

This is one of the must visit place in Japan. The view and the surrounding nature was awesome. The torii and the pagoda are in different places. For torii you have to go down the stairs from the parking area. And for the pagoda there is 15min hike through the stairs. But the view is really worth the hike.

Beautiful sacred place to visit in Japan. This is one of the places made you feel like it captures the spirits of Japan, keeping the tradition inseparable from nature. The lush green of the trees around already won my heart, not to mention the majestic shot of waterfalls like arrows. It can't help reminding me of the dragon gate. Further as I learned about the myth of Jimmu and the dragon statues providing the waters, I felt a deeper connection with this place. In any event, come to find your personal connection to this heritage!

It’s one of most scenic landmarks or sacred ground in Japan. Its verdure will definitely blow someone’s mind. Natures serenity gives you complete immovability. The waterfall itself so pulchritudinous that you reluctant to leave. Note: pagoda and falls are not in same place, therefore you have to go little uphill. I went there by car but majority goes by foot. Transportation: Easy accessible by both private or public transport. Parking & bus stoppages both are within 100m. Nachifall Entry:¥300 Parking: ¥500~¥1000

Beautiful waterfall only a short walk from the parking lot. Huge mature trees along the path. Another walking route from the parking lot takes you uphill to the pagoda around a small area with a few shops and cafe with views of the waterfall.

Nice waterfall. Need to pay 300¥ If u want to get closer. And 200¥ for a plate to drink dragon water if u want to live longer. (so they say).

Kumano-Nachi Taisha is a significant Shinto shrine situated in the Kumano Kodo UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is part of the Kumano Sanzan, which includes Kumano Hongu and Kumano Hayatama shrines. The area features ancient pilgrimage routes, with the Nakahechi pilgrimage route being the main path from Kyoto to Kumano since the 10th century. In 2004, these routes were designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This shrine felt calm and beautiful even on a rainy day after walking up the Daimonzaka slope. It was a bit crowded which is expected since it draws visitors in any weather. From here, you can walk further to reach the viewpoint of Nachi Waterfall and the iconic pagoda.

Walked on KK trail arriving at 2.00. It was Saturday so busy with local and foreigners alike. Amazing Shinto and Buddhist temple. I just loved the wooden structure of the temple. It's a large site on side of mountain so lots of stairs. The 3 tiered pagoda has only recently been opened again after being repainted. Be aware buses are packed. I managed to get on my bus while queuing but many many left behind and have to wait another hr. Down hill stops noon picked up. Waterfall beautiful.

Beautiful shrine. Amazing view. There are 3 levels to it: the grand shrine, the pagoda and the torii in front of the waterfall. Goshuin: 500¥

Japan's highest waterfall. If you're in the area, it's a must see. Worth a small detour as well, since there is not just the waterfall, but a very beautiful temple and gardens as well. A lot of things to discover, half day trip!

Beautiful temple and waterfall. Can also hike along the Kumano-kodo to another temple 1 hours walk from the main temple really worth it. About 40mins on the way back.

This shrine is one of the Kumano Sanzan and famous for its location with the Nachi Waterfall. The shrine is quite normal but like the main shrine, you will need to walk many steps to reach its level (esp. from Waterfall level). You can just spend time on the pagoda and waterfall instead of here which are more scenic.

Wakayamaken Shingushi Asuka Shrine is located at the foot of Mt. Horai, near the mouth of the Kumano River. It is believed to have been built in 423 BCE to commemorate the landing of Chinese explorer Jofuko on his quest for the elixir of life. The shrine's surroundings, including Mount Horai and the mingling waters of the river and ocean, are seen as embodying divine principles.
One of the Kumano Koudo Jinsha, but i could not find the stamp here. Maybe the staff holds the stamp?

Def worth visiting and I almost missed it. The high priest spoke to me in good English and even gave me a gift. He brought be to inside shrine and played a song with flute called "Kamano Kodo". Such a beautiful performance and memorable experience for me. I'm also doing the whole trek by the same name. Highly recommend a visit to this quiet shrine.

Kumano Hayatama Taisha is a renowned Shinto shrine and pilgrimage site located next to the Kumano River, surrounded by lush woodland. As one of the Kumano Sanzan shrines, it has stood on the riverbank since at least the 12th century. While its buildings have been reconstructed recently, it houses ancient religious artifacts dating back to the 3rd century, showcasing its enduring significance in Japanese folklore.
It’s a bit walk from the train station and most shops are closed for business but it’s still nice to visit. The temple itself is magnificent and the surrounding area is beautiful.

Felt there was nothing extremely special about the Taisha. Conveniently beside another attraction, the shopping alley. But worth skipping even if you are passing by via car.

One of the Kumano Sanzan (3 Grand Shrines of Kumano), it is the smallest but yet most accessible which is near to a railway station. The shrine is quite quiet on weekdays, and it does not have much to see other than the building itself. Would be a good start for the 3 Shrines Journey

Great place. If you take the walk, be prepared for a slightly higher difficulty. The nature stones are really slippery in rain, but you can easily get close via bus. Main problem might be fog. I recommend the pagoda for a great photo of the waterfall

Kamikura Shrine is a sacred site located on Mount Kamikura, where the Kumano gods are said to have first descended to earth. The shrine is situated near a massive boulder overlooking a steep cliff and can be reached by climbing over 500 stone steps. It holds great historical significance as the birthplace of Kumano worship and is considered one of the oldest sacred places in the Kumano region.
Highly recommended the steep walk up the steps for the great view. Best time to go is just before sunset. When we we t we were the only ones there with a perfect view of the city bathed in pastel subset light

This ancient shrine is located halfway up Mt. Gongen, where the gods are said to have first descended to earth. It is at the top of a very steep cliff, called Amanoiwa-tate, on the Kumano Pilgrimage route, and is reached by climbing 538 very steep stone steps with no hand rails. At the top of these steps is a large, sacred rock called Gotobiki-iwa, which is revered as the dwelling place of one of the shrine's deities. The shrine has the best view of the entire Shingu area, as well as of the Kumano Sea, and is also the site of the Oto Matsuri Festival 🔥, which is held on February 6 every year. In the darkness, men holding lit torches run down the steep stone steps of Mt. Gongen! Free parking is available. No goshuin stamp is offered at this site. You can only get the goshuin stamp at the main shrine at Kumano Hayatama Taisha.

I walked to shrine. Up steep climb of around 400 steps. Lovely little shrine set into rock. Great views over Shingu. I was only foreigner. Worth the climb. I don't think I'm wrong it's UNESCO recognised. Easy walk from town. Places to stop eat drink along the way.
Redfern R — Google review
Locate at middle of a mountain, you will need to walk 500+ steps before arriving at the shrine. The steps are very steep so going down is quite troublesome, you should only go when there is no rain and when the ground is dry. But the view of Shingu from the shrine is very nice and spectacular.
Eric C — Google review
The Kamikura Shrine is where a very big stone located. I don’t think the stone itself is particularly noteworthy (albeit it being very big), but the walk up is notoriously difficult and memorable. Half way to the shrine the walk is very steep to the point that it felt like rock climbing, and it’s very tiring. (The locals would say,”it’s tough to the point you feel like dying!”). Yet it’s this walk that I think made the trip memorable. As we went down also because of the steepness I had a sense of vertigo, and was scared, but after overcoming it I felt like I learned something. No wonder it’s part of the ancient Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage route. The other halft after the steep part is relatively easy, and pleasant. It’s also nice that once from the top we can see the sea and have a good view of Shingu, the city it’s in.
Prasanti S — Google review
Very steep steps are leading to the shrine where the old gods of Kumano once descended. I was gratefully bowing to the tori gate when I was back down in one piece.
Risto P — Google review
Steep steps of irregular rocks uphill. Went on a morning after rain. Not particularly challenging (especially after hiking the Kumano Kodo) but had to be really careful as the algae may cause the rocks to be slippery. The view on top of the hill was ok. Overall a good hike.
Laybit — Google review
You definitely have to walk up those stone stairs. It is amazing experience. I guarantee you that. I ended up forgot to take the photo of the stone shrine itself. Believe it or not. After all the work walking up there!!!

Oyunohara is a significant Shinto complex known for its historical and natural beauty. Originally the location of Kumano Hongu Taisha, the area suffered damage from a devastating flood in 1889, leading to the shrine's relocation. The highlight of Oyunohara is the imposing 33.9-meter tall torii gate, which was constructed in 2000 using steel-reinforced concrete.
The tallest torii in Japan, it stands in defiance in the middle of the flood plain (don't let the rice paddies fool you), silently reminding us of it's past glory and long history. While it is a modern production, the nearly indestructible torii nonetheless signifies people's undying faith. The shrine itself has been relocated to nearby hill side, and the old ground of the shrine has only a few Stony pieces to evidence it's prior life, leaving this massive torii the most stunning sight from miles away. A birds eyes view (too bad no drone allowed here or anywhere) must be awesome.
Jerome M — Google review
Oyunohara Sanctuary sits just beyond the huge Otorii gate, surrounded by towering trees that give it a calm and sacred feel.
Ced A — Google review
The former location of the shrine have a small forest remains which is quite spectacular and spiritual.
Eric C — Google review
We hiked to get here and you could see the edge of this torii all the way across town as soon as you step out from the trees because it is SO big. Its open 24 hours but during the night there was no lighting at all, and if you plan on seeing the shrine nearby it closes at 5. There is a stamp here and one at the shrine too. Busses get more rare in the evening and there are less places to eat at night.
Louise T — Google review
Wonderful structure and you get lost on its size and calmness. The whole area is extremely beautiful and peaceful. In the uphill shrine stairs, we happened to confront a group of 200 local students visiting the place, and every single of them say hi to us one after the other- surprisingly lovely and memorable :)
Abolfazl V — Google review
The largest Torii gate in Japan, the title itself is worth visiting. It has a large site, behind it is a cedar forest which nestles the old site of the Hongu Taisha before it was flooded and rebuilt at its current spot. Do not miss out visit the river site just beside the old site, it's a nice place to have a rest before returning on the route atop the flood barrier for a different angle of the Torii gate.
Rtexal T — Google review
An absolutely mind blowing experience. The feeling of calm in this area is incredible. Not only is the view stunning, but you’re walking on such an ancient piece of Japanese history! Be sure to check out the travel centre and learn all you can about the region of Wakayama. You won’t be disappointed!

Such a cool place to visit ! Next to the Kumano Hongu Taisha and a few little cafes and restaurants ! . I would recommend going earlier in the morning or late after noon for the best photos/viewing of the Tori gate. I visited during the midday sun so the Tori gate was cast in shadow which made photos a little underwhelming.

Kumano Hongu Taisha is a serene Shinto shrine located in a tranquil mountain setting, accessible via a scenic trail and stone steps. Buddhist or not, you cannot help but be impressed by the size and magnitude of the OTorii gate and the Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine and complex. It is one of the 3 main shrines on the Kumano Kodo network. It is a Shinto Shrine with 4 main Buddha's to worship. In these shrines, common folk are to look through fences. I don't personally connect with that. I like to look at the statues I'm praying to and connect with the eyes, etc. But this is the Shinto way. The complex is bustling with pilgrims, both Japanese and foreign, mixed together. Some are there because one of the most frequently walked Kumano Kodo Trails ends a stage here, and some are visiting Japan. It's well worth a visit and you could spend an hour on the grounds. It's blossom season, so I'm lucky!
Redfern R — Google review
As the main shrine in the Kumano Sanzan, the outlook of the shrine is more ordinary. You would need to walk up a long stairs before reaching the main shrine, which is quite spectacular when viewing from top. The place is quite spiritual with not much tourist and people but nature sounds and beauty. For me, it was quite refreshing to visit this place.
Eric C — Google review
The fifth stop on the Kumano Kodo Hosshinmon-oji hike is Kumano Hongu Taisha, the main shrine of the trail. It's a beautiful and peaceful place to get your stamp and take a break after the walk.
Ced A — Google review
Our pilgrimage along the Kumano Kodo trails began at Kumano Hongu Taisha, and it felt like both a natural and symbolic choice. In the tradition of the three Kumano shrines, Hongu represents the «present» — the moment that is lived here and now. For me, as a practicing Buddhist, this was a profound spiritual experience: the journey begins with the very moment where life, breath, and meaning exist. The shrine stands deep within the mountains of the Kii region, surrounded by dense forests and rivers that have been considered sacred for centuries. The landscape is both harsh and generous: the rushing waters of the Kumano River, the mist shrouding the peaks, and the thick greenery all give it a sense of being apart from the everyday world. It is no wonder that since ancient times people have come here seeking purification and renewal. The mythology of Kumano is closely tied to deities of death and rebirth. Susanoo-no-Mikoto, the storm god, is worshipped here, as is Izanami, the primordial mother associated with the realm of the dead. Yet through these figures also runs the idea of renewal — entry into the «Pure Land», where past and future converge. It is no coincidence that emperors of the Heian period came here to pray for rebirth and the salvation of the soul. The history of the shrine has not been without hardship. In 1889, a flood destroyed the original sanctuary that stood on the banks of the Kumano River. Since then, the main shrine has been rebuilt on higher, safer ground, where it remains today. On the site of the former shrine now stand the great Otorii — the largest shrine gates in Japan. There is a rule that the inner sacred area should not be photographed, and it is important to respect that. We traveled between the main shrines mostly by bus, walking only parts of the route, and this became a reflection for me on what truly defines a pilgrimage. Yes, in the past people walked these mountains for weeks, but what matters is not the means of travel, but what you carry within. This journey is made with the heart. Each visit to a shrine, each prayer, and each pause became part of an inner journey, regardless of how I physically arrived there. The Kumano Kodo is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and to walk (or ride) along it is to join a thousand-year-old tradition. Beginning at Hongu means beginning with the present — with the living moment that opens the path to awareness. Pilgrims then usually continue to Hayatama Taisha (the past) and finish at Nachi Taisha (the future). This order carries a deep inner logic: to live the present, to recognize the past, and to face the future.

End of Kumado Kodo pilgrimage trail 😃. Serene place where you can just close your eyes and medita... until the tourist next you starts eating chips 😃. You can buy some "merch" tho the hemp bracelet is overpriced and low quality but I mean it is what it is. The final stamp is awaiting you pilgrim. If you are dual pilgrim (did Camino) show up at the shrine office. The head priest will initiate drumming celebration of your achievement :).

(Translated by Google) I visited this restaurant because I wanted to try the local specialty, mehari sushi, while visiting Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine. The parking lot can accommodate about six cars, but the road is narrow, so it may be difficult to wait on the road if the parking lot is full. I visited on a weekend afternoon, but it was full, so I couldn't wait inside and had to wait in my car for a table to open up. The seats were like semi-private rooms, which was great because I could eat without worrying about being seen by others. I ordered the summer-only mehari sushi set meal, and although I'm not a small eater, three pieces of mehari sushi were enough to fill me up. It would be nice if you could specify the number of sushi pieces you want. It was a great memory from my trip. One of THE BEST meals we’ve had during our 6 weeks in Japan! The lunch set for 1700 yen is a great value and absolutely delicious - includes an appetizer plate, pasta entree, bread, dessert and a non alcoholic beverage. The flavors and presentation are exceptional.

Soba noodle shop
I came to this place after locals recommended Tanukiya, a soba noodle shop in Shingu. Their specialty is curry udon, which offers a delightful balance of sweet and spicy flavors. As someone who enjoys spicy food, I particularly appreciated the combination of Kosho and Shichimi spices on top. The udon itself has a unique softness typical of the Kansai region, although some may find it an acquired taste.
Great Find! Great spot to cool off after a day of hiking. The cold soba is so refreshing! And trying the local style sushi with mustard leaf was also hearty and tasty! After a long day this was exactly what we needed.

(Translated by Google) Maybe because it's New Year's Eve, I was doing it even after 8:30 pm. The fact that the curry udon is quite spicy is refreshing. I definitely think the noodles are delicious. It's great to be able to eat just one piece of Mehari sushi. Is it because they have taken pretty good infection control measures? Tissues were only found at the entrance and no trash can was found. I get a runny nose when I eat hot food like curry, so I should have brought tissues and a garbage bag so I could concentrate on eating. Depending on your taste, pair it with seaweed, soy sauce, green onions, and mustard, and it will taste like a different flavor. There is also a cup of hot water (?) next to it. The store owner said that after eating the soba noodles, pour it into the soy sauce cup and drink it. It's quite an interesting way to eat it. The taste of soy sauce has different flavors as the concentration changes. The rice balls wrapped in leaves at the end are said to be a local specialty. I don’t really understand this, but it is just to experience a different food culture. (Translated by Google) There are both tatami rooms and table seating. Each menu item has its own unique character. The chilled curry udon has firm noodles and the soup contains grated daikon radish or something else. It has a lot of chili peppers (about the same level of spiciness as CoCo Ichibanya?), so children may not be able to finish it, but those who like spicy food will probably enjoy it. The chilled grated daikon radish soba is a bit sweet with just the soup, but when you mix in the grated daikon radish and wasabi, it creates a wonderfully delicious balance. Shingū Castle Ruins, once the residence of Tankaku Hime, daughter of renowned samurai Minamoto no Tameyoshi, are nestled by the Kumano River. Although the castle was demolished in the Meiji era, its historical significance is evident as it was listed among Japan's Top 100 Castles in 2017. Today, visitors can enjoy leisurely walks and picnics while taking in panoramic views of the river and ocean.
There isn't much to see when it comes to the castle itself. Only some walls standing and the rest have been converted to a park with a small pond. However the views from here especially on the river and mountains are really nice and worth climbing if you are nearby.

Jofuku Park, located in Shingu, is a memorial park dedicated to Xu Fu from the Qin Dynasty. According to legend, Jofuku traveled the world in search of immortality medicine under the order of the Emperor of the Qin Dynasty and discovered a medicinal plant called 'Tendai Uyaku' in Shingu. The park features traditional gates, stone statues, and even houses Jofuku's tomb.
There is a cozy Taoistic park. I like it here!

1. In the present day where CCP China is becoming increasingly unpopular and unwelcome thanks to its government's tireless brainwashing and reckless endeavors, I found this park amazingly well constructed, and respectfully maintained, considering how crazy some of the Chinese nationalists have behaved in recent memories both in China and overseas. 2. For a historical figure mentioned in every Chinese elementary school history text books, this park (claimed to be Xufu or Hsu Fu's resting place) is also remarkably low key and rarely visited. Of the tens of thousands Chinese visitors to this country, there are more of them visiting a LV store in Ginza in a single afternoon than to this park all year long. What an irony. 3. I appreciated the peace and quiet of this park, as well as the few ancient memorials. Again it's ironic that one cant find any real historical memorials of Xufu in China, despite the fame. This is a prime example of “礼失而求诸于野”

This is a memorial park of a mythical figure from ancient China. It was told that the envoy of Jofuku was sent by the first emperor in ancient China, the Emperor Shi of Qin Dynasty to find him the immortal elixir from the god paradise island in the East. After Jofuku set his foot in the land of Shingu in Kumano, he never thought about to return to his home country.

I wish the restaurant had an English name, so it would be easier for English-speaking individuals to locate this adorable little establishment. If you find yourself in Japan and craving a delicious burger and fries or a mouthwatering crepe filled with any topping of your choice, make your way to this charming vintage pink burger/crepe stand near the New Palace Hotel in Shingu. They offer a delightful burger deluxe accompanied by perfectly cooked French fries, as well as melon soda for a refreshing beverage option.
This is a great little restaurant / take-out burger joint. I didn’t give it a 5 star for atmosphere only because it has a small dining area and lots of people order at the window. The staff are friendly, the prices are decent for Japan, especially when it comes to specialty food like “Western Style” burgers which can get pricey. The patties are 100% beef which is sourced locally. Their fish burger is a MUST try and any of the other beef burgers such as the avocado burger and their deluxe burger are delicious as well. All in all you won’t be disappointed if you give this place a try 😎👍🏻

Hot Springs & Geysers
Tsubo-yu is a popular tourist destination located in Japan known for its traditional hot spring experience. It is situated in the town of Nyuto Onsen, Akita Prefecture, and provides an authentic Japanese atmosphere with its rustic architecture and natural surroundings. The hot spring water used in Tsubo-yu is rich in minerals that are believed to have healing properties. Visitors can immerse themselves in the outdoor and indoor baths while taking in the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
It was such an amazing experience to have an spa in an 1800 year old onsen on the Yunotani River in Yunomine which fits only 2 people. Purchase your ticket in advance at the vending machine, around the corner, in front of a shrine. Number of tix holder is displayed on door of onsen - each party has 30 minutes. When your number is next, take your place at the waiting area on upper level of onsen. Clean yourself properly before slipping in. Water is naturally and constantly replenished and discarded. You dip into very very hot water in a rock pool the size of a small spa and depth up to your waist when you sit. The bottom is strew with pebbles. And you enjoy!
Mighty M — Google review
Oldest onsen in Japan. 800 yen per person. You have to pay per person whether you are using it by yourself or with your partner. It's a unique experience that you are only able to experience in Japan. The onsen water can be really hot, so you need to turn on the cold water. Sometimes you have to wait more than an hour.
Taeho K — Google review
You need to bring your own towel. There’s no queue for the public bath, but if you want to try the special blue onsen, you’ll need to purchase an additional ticket. The blue onsen allows 1–2 people at a time for 30 minutes per session. When buying the ticket, you’ll be informed of the wait time. You can also buy onsen eggs nearby.

Great experience! Tsuboyu was quite an experience. 1) buy the tickets at the automated machine close to the normal onsen (800yen); the person there will give you a number 2) buy towels there or bring your own 3) line up (if necessary) according to the number you received 4) remember: shower before coming here, there are no showers 5) enter the barrack after taking off your shoes 6) check the water temperature: if it is too hot, you can use the massive water outlet to cool it down (recommended) 7) mix the water with the wooden stick 8) enjoy! 9) use the small warm water tap to fill the buckets and rinse yourself

This is the oldest hot spring in Japan. Strong smell of sulphur in the area. It is also part of kumano kodo pilgrimage area. Pilgrims soaked here to purify themselves before visiting kumano shrines. The color of the hot spring water changes several times a day due to natural minerals. You are allowed to buy eggs at the nearby convenient stores and cook in the boiling hot spring water. It will cook in about 12 minutes. You can pay small amount of money to bathe in a tub of a tiny stone hut privately about 30 minutes per session, but it is a long wait.

Great public bath. Quite new, very clean, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner us even provided. We brought our own towels and therefore only paid 400 Yen. Great value as they have two different temperatures baths. Would have wished for a cold plunge bath. Overall great experience for this little money we paid. Tattoo friendly place.

But a ticket on the vending machine, and then you will get a ticket entry. You need to go back a bit and then straight, until you see a sign on your right to the onsen. There you put your number card next to the door and enter when called. The water were very hot as we were the first of that day and took about 10 minutes to cool them down. The ones was very cool, you can go as a couple and tattoos are ok

Doro Kyo Gorge in Shingu offers an unforgettable jet boat tour experience along the Kumano-gawa River and Kitayama-gawa River. The two-hour journey treats you to stunning views of emerald waters, towering cliffs, and unique rock formations visible through large windows and an open roof. The boat makes a 20-minute stop at Doro Kyo Gorge for visitors to immerse themselves in its natural beauty.
We had come here expecting the autumn foliage but it was still very green all around. I can only imagine how beautiful the entire gorge will look in orange leaves. Nonetheless the 2 elderly men operating the cruise was really nice and kind. Despite a language barrier our boatman was friendly and warm in showing us the sights along the way and helping us with our photo taking. Highly recommended to all to ride the cruise for a scenic view and hoping more tourists will help support these small local businesses

Majestic & stunning view, every corner is a wow. Friendly & helpful boatman & lady at the ticket booth. The water is soooo clean & clear. The boat ride took about 40 min, we had the whole boat to ourselves. They even provide a soft blanket for me to stay warm.

Maruyama Senmaida

4.5

Scenic spot
Farm
Maruyama Senmaida is a stunning traditional terraced rice field located in Yunoguchi Onsen. The road leading to the site is easy to navigate, but becomes narrow as you enter the mountain area. The rice fields, though empty after harvesting, are still impressive in number and are situated on the slope of a mountain. There are parking lots halfway up the mountain with restroom facilities and a rest area available.
The view is amazing and it changes with seasons. There is no walking path so you do need to share the road with car traffic.

Amazing place to be in the spring . Visited in April and the rice patties were filled with water. Spent there over 1 hour walking among the terraces and could have spent more time. There is a few designated parking areas (like 3/4 to the top and on the top as well, a toilet.

It was a scenic spot for rice terrace. Nothing special to see at the moment. Looked unattended. Road was narrow. Be aware of oncoming cars.
Martlet — Google review
A beautiful traditional terraced rice field. Come here in April-May to see the planting season. Come in June/July/August to see the rice fields in full growth and come in the autumn to see the harvesting. There are a few places to park your car here but not many so it may be difficult to park. I recommend parking elsewhere and walking. There is a lovely hike nearby where from the top of the mountain you get a great view of the rice fields.
Joshua C — Google review
Went to see the Maruyama Senmaida rice terraces. Absolutely incomparable views, unforgettable experience! The hills are cut into terraces, fill them with rainwater, and plant paddy (rice). As scenic as it can get, when the coloured clouds and sun is also reflected from the water filled terraces; the sight offers great opportunities to the avid photographers or even amateurs. The landscape changes throughout the year, from the beginning of planting season where the terraces are water filled, then to the fields of green of the young rice plants growing up, and finally ripening to golden hues at harvest. These rice terraces are absolutely stunning! Definitely worth the trip out there.

Shikaroku is a hidden gem that offers simple and traditional freshwater eel dishes. The restaurant is well-known among locals for its great food, and it's a popular spot for those looking to enjoy delicious unagi in a nice atmosphere. Visitors can expect super fresh eel served with omelettes, and the Japanese waitress speaks good English, making it an accessible dining experience for international guests.
Very well marinated and grilled unagi, definitely worth it for a once in while big treat.

Quite local grilled eel restaurant which is near to the Hayatama Taisha. It is a little bit pricy than those in City but it is quite delicious, both the eel is grilled to a firm but soft texture, the sauce is not overwhelming so that the rice is not soaked in sauce. Additionally you can add the premium sansho (Japanese pepper) on the table which greatly enhanced the flavor.

Toho Chaya is a local Japanese restaurant that offers a unique dining experience, particularly for sushi enthusiasts. The restaurant also features an exceptional dish made with 30-year-old fermented fish.

Jeremy T — Google review
Love this local Japanese restaurant where you can fully embrace the origin of Sushi! Our aim in visiting there was to try the primitive form of Sushi called Narezushi, and we also discovered they have their own kind of Narezushi, called Hon-Narezushi. The difference between them is the length of time they are fermented in barrels. The Narezushi is kept between 1-6 months. In contrast, the Hon-Narezushi is kept for 30 years. Both are brined. So, it does not have the modern taste of Sushi with vinegar, but rather has a fermented lactose taste. It was nice of the proprietress, making sure that the Narezushis we wanted to order don’t have the colorful flavor like the modern Sushi has. She was super nice. We had it with soy sauce and ichimi sprinkles. As she mentioned, it had a much simpler flavor than modern sushi, but the fermentation gave it taste. We started with Narezushi, Hon-Narezushi, and Meharizushi, a regional vegetable-wrapped sushi, and then a regular plate of Sushi as the finale! We kind of loved the our choices, walking through a taste of the history of Sushi while enjoying their warm hospitality. If you want to be kind of a Sushi buff, it is a wonderful experience which you can gain only at the restaurant, and we highly recommend going there!

Kobaido is a traditional Japanese sweets shop located near Kumano Hayatama Taisha in Shingu City. It is famous for its Suzuyaki, a bite-sized sweet sponge snack that makes for a perfect souvenir. The shop tends to get crowded, especially on weekends, with long lines forming outside and the popular Suzuyaki selling out quickly. To avoid the crowds, it's recommended to visit in the morning. Additionally, there is parking available next to the shop for convenience.
You can smell the pleasant aroma outside the store. Even in the morning there are many people queuing to buy their goods. Recommend visiting early. The store may close on irregular days so visit in advance if possible to check their rest days.

This place is really popular, I think there's always a line. I thought the red bean jam pancake sandwich, dorayaki, was really special. Full of whole red beans. The steamed red bean jam manju was normal tasting. It's a small shop and I don't think they use preservatives like some of the larger confectionery shops. This is their only location. Because of the reluctance to expand their business they can preserve the original taste and maintained high quality.

Despite being near the train station, the quality of the sushi exceeded expectations. The chef is friendly and accommodating, even offering recommendations and free gifts to patrons.
It was raining when I arrived on the train, so I made a beeline for this cute tiny sushi restaurant next to the JR Station. I had a wonderful welcome, and they are certainly accommodating to tourists with a very extensive English menu, that you just need to point at. The price was extremely cheap for the amount and quality of fish, and to my delight, quite a few vegetarian rolls were available. I had a set of sushi, an extra roll and soup and walked out with change from 2000JPY. Quite a mix of locals and quite a few tourists, but they all seem to be hikers, so most of them were well behaved, not huge party crowds. Very welcoming to solo diners, too.

I was a bit sceptical of some of the sushi that was unknown to me like the whole fish on a roll, but it was really good! Also I asked what is recommended and they gave me nigiri of shimaaji, island horse mackerel(?), with shisou and salt (no soy sauce), and oh my god it was incredible. The chef even gave us a free gift of kajiki, swordfish!! Which is a delicious fatty tuna species you will rarely have the opportunity to eat, so we felt very lucky :D

I've been there a few times, and there was a special exhibition that carefully investigated the complicated relationships between Haruo Sato and Junichiro Tanizaki, and the level of the museum as a literary museum was very high. The building was also elegant. The sunroof in particular is worth a look.

A unique feature of these Kawahara houses is that they can be easily assembled and dismantled, without using a single nail. They were dismantled before the riverbank was flooded by the Kumano River's flood and transported to agariya, an evacuation site in Funamachi (the townscape next to Hayatama Taisha Shrine), and then returned to the riverbank and reassembled once the water receded. This Kawahara House Alley is known as the "Niitaka Kawahara House," and was restored and revived by students from the Construction Engineering Department of Shingu High School using documents from other sources. Hiking area

Koyazaka Slope is a picturesque trail that forms part of the Kumano Kodo, stretching from the Hirotsuno bus stop to JR Miwasaki Station. The area features a small stream with clear water and a railroad track resembling the Kumano Kodo. Following the track along the stream leads to a vast gravel beach and steep rocky shore.
Beautiful section of the Kumano Kodo, much more overgrown (in a good way!). One important note that Google Maps will NOT bring you to the correct entrance if you are coming from the Hirotsuno bus station. Instead of following the map directions uphill, make a left at the first stoplight. Walk past the police station, then make a right. There will eventually be signs for the trail.

If you get off at the Hirotsuno bus stop on the route bus that connects JR Shingu Station and Kii-Katsuura Station, it's a 10-minute walk to the starting point of Koyazaka Beach, where there is a large parking lot and toilets. There is a river flowing behind the toilets, and you can reach Ojigahama Beach by going under the JR Kisei Main Line (Kinokuni Line) tracks. There is a large rock towering to the right of the beach, and it is easy to imagine that you will cross it on Koyazaka Beach. Udon noodle restaurant
Masaya is a charming, family-owned establishment that offers fresh and flavorful udon noodles. The broth is delectable, and the mountain veggie udon as well as the tempura udon are both exceptional. This place truly captures an authentic taste. Although language may be a barrier, the friendly and helpful staff ensures a pleasant dining experience. The food arrives promptly and in satisfying portions suitable for lunch.

One of the most authentic experience we’ve had in Japan. Despite talking exactly zero word of English, the owner welcomed us on a quiet evening and served us what might be the best bowl of noodles we had on our trip. We sat on the ground in a very decorated room with the TV, making us feel like we were having dinner at someone’s grandma. I highly recommend!

Wandered in on a stop on our trip in Japan and it was lovely! You take off your shoes and sit on a cushion on tatami mats. The menu is both in English and Japanese and there’s a variety of udon and rice dishes. I got the matsutake mushroom udon, which varies in price depending on the day. I believe they’re foraging the mushrooms as the walls are covered in photos of mushrooms out in the forest, in the soil, etc… it was excellent with thick chewy noodles.

What can I say about this place, except that it's a very nice family run establishment with very fresh noodles and delicious broth. I had the mountain veggie udon, and my wife has the tempura udon. Kinoshita is a culinary gem that offers an authentic taste of local cuisine, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. Guests rave about the diverse menu featuring unique dishes such as dolphin sashimi and whale innards, which are surprisingly delicious and reminiscent of horse sashimi without any fishy aftertaste. The restaurant also serves an array of grilled meats, miso soup, prawn toast, and even tuna heart to tantalize your taste buds.

Nice and delicious food, and the price is so reasonable!! You can experience typical Japanese bar restaurant and I definitely recommended this restaurant. However, the reason I put 4 stars of Atmosphere is because you can smoke downstairs and we didn’t know that. We asked if we could move to the non-smoking table and it was ok so that was no problem. This reminds me of smoking culture is still exist in Japanese country area.

(Translated by Google) [Enjoy a variety of delicacies] [Comfortable service with caring attitude] I visited this restaurant while traveling. Based on my research, I found that they have many unique menu items, including local specialties. When I sat at the counter, my eyes wandered to the menu that was posted in front of me, and it was true that there were many dishes that I could only see here. There was also a whiteboard and a list of dishes, and I had a hard time getting the whole picture as I looked back and forth several times, but it was fun to choose while being distracted. I ordered a beer while looking at the menu, and the egg tofu that came with it was topped with a generous amount of salmon roe (or harako?), which was a good snack on its own. Since I was traveling, I wanted to try as many unique dishes as possible that were unique to this place, so I ordered tuna stomach, dolphin sashimi, fried moray eel, hairtail with vinegared miso, and shirasu radish, each of which I paired with local sake. The tuna stomach was boiled. The tuna is quite big, and the stomach is quite thick. The texture is chewy but soft, and although it has a slight hint of innards, it doesn't have any strange smell. The ginger soy sauce is refreshing and delicious. The dolphin meat was much different from whale meat than I had imagined. When I put it in my mouth, I first felt the firmness of the tendons, then noticed the unique aroma with a slight fishy smell, and the faint sweetness of the oil lingered. The overall taste was soft, and the fishy smell disappeared with the use of ginger as a seasoning, but for someone like me who doesn't know how many times I'll eat it in my lifetime, I thought that if I didn't enjoy the aroma, there would be no point in eating the dolphin meat. The fried moray eel was surprisingly soft and had a sweet white meat. The skin was crispy on the outside, but it felt thick. The softness of the meat and the texture were a nice accent. The hairtail vinegar miso is very elastic, or rather, hard, but I think it is a delicacy that allows you to enjoy the texture. It was perfect with sake. It was winter, but I was also happy that it contained myoga. I also enjoyed local sake such as the dry Pacific Ocean with a strong volatile taste and the Kumano Sanzan Ginjo, which was cold but had a very dense flavor. When I ordered alcohol, they brought me cold water without me having to ask, and the staff were very friendly even though they were busy. In the middle of the meal, they even served me soup and gratin, which were both delicious and I felt bad about it. It was a great experience and a memory for one night of my trip. The izakaya restaurant Ajito offers excellent food and service. The dishes are tasty and served quickly, meeting the standards of any Izakaya establishment. The portion sizes in relation to the price are favorable. What sets this place apart is the exceptional service provided by the owner/manager, who personally checks up on customers and engages in pleasant conversations with them. This place is full of life! Later in the night, the locals trickle in and bring positive spirits here. The owner loves fishing and has photos of his dog in the restroom, so I couldn’t help but admire the personal touch there. Order at least one drink here and enjoy the assortment of omakase yakitori skewers. But if you’re more hungry, definitely order sashimi here it seems well known for this. The people here are social and friendly, so if you are looking for good company and food, you must come! English menu is available so there should not be communication issues, but my advice is to come right when it opens because it gets busy here. When it gets busy, be prepared to compete for attention with a sumimasen! 😂 I think you’ll have a good time in this establishment if you aren’t too shy.

This small, local Izakaya has absolutely delicious food made fresh and served quickly. It's a popular, high energy, fun place that fills up quite fast, so reservations can be important if you have a larger group or It's a weekend. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much I went back for a second dinner in the same week!

Food is so yummy. It’s different from other octopus which is really fresh. Boss is friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Food and the service was absolutely great! The food came quick and just to any Izakaya standard taste. Quantity for price is good. But the service was even better, the owner/manager would personally check up on you to see how things are going and have a quick conversation with you. If you're looking for a bar to go to nightly/weekly, to just relax, this is the place in Shingu. I recommend the moriawase Sashimi set, chicken wings and other yakitori.

Yakiniku restaurant
If you visit Yakinikuden Shinguten, a yakiniku restaurant, you can enjoy high-quality meat without breaking the bank. Unlike other places where prices are much higher, this restaurant offers free rice replacements and includes additional items in their set menus. You can even ask for more servings without any extra charges. The cuts of meat like loin are tender and satisfying. However, there are some downsides to consider.
You can taste a very good quality beef with a reasonable price. High cost performance.

(Translated by Google) I went for the all-you-can-eat lunch. The prices were reasonable and the staff was courteous. There is a children's space in the waiting room, which is great for families with small children. You can also make reservations for your visit online. There are many wonderful things as mentioned above, but the most noteworthy thing is the food. After all, the (only) thing I recommend is the ketchup that comes with the fries. It has a perfect balance of sourness and sweetness, and I think it's a testament to the efforts of a company that has been making ketchup for over 100 years. Furthermore, the taste of the other menu items at this restaurant perfectly complemented the deliciousness of the ketchup, so even though it was a Yakiniku restaurant, I ended up (reluctantly) ordering nothing but fries. Also, despite the all-you-can-eat option, I was able to keep my stomach to 60%. I think the staff's customer service and the taste of the ketchup are 5 stars, without any bias. I think this is a unique service that is unique even in Japan, but as clearly stated on the store's signboard, this is a charcoal grilled restaurant. (Not written) It will be a yakiniku restaurant.

The Kumano Boat River Cruise is a highly recommended activity in Shingu, offering two daily tours. Visitors can take a bus from Shingu Station at 8:40 am to connect to the boat tour that runs from 10 am to 11:30 am. Despite varying weather conditions, travelers have had wonderful experiences on the cruise, with friendly and entertaining guides providing clear English explanations of the river's history and points of interest.
Lucked out with weather and had a lovely cruise down the river. Recommend to have a different view of this beautiful area (we hired a car but there just weren’t enough stopping points to take it all in!). We parked the car at the start point and they shuttled us back to it 🙏

I truly truly recommend this trip to everyone who don’t have to walk the whole Kumano Kodo! The view is fantastic and the guides are amazing doing a great job explaining things we see. And the price is very fair for what astonishing views you get on the boat!

The Kumano Boat River Cruise was truly one of the highlights of my Kumano Kodo Trail journey. The experience was both serene and unforgettable, offering a peaceful change of pace as we floated down the river toward the next shrine. The boat drivers were clearly experts, skillfully navigating the current with ease, and our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating stories and cultural insights along the way. Ones particularly special moment was when she paused to play a traditional Japanese flute, filling the river valley with soft, melodic notes, it was absolutely magical. The combination of history, nature, and quiet reflection made this cruise an experience I’ll never forget. I highly recommend it to anyone walking the Kumano Kodo, it’s a beautiful, soulful, and perfectly guided experience.

A must do. Especially if you don't plan the walk the entire Kumano trail😅. Not only it allows you to appreciate the natural beauty of region, it also reminds you of its brutal power--the same tranquil river (Kumanogawa) was a whole 30meter higher a decade ago during a direct typhoon hit, killing many and destroyed towns along the way. It's amazing to see some of these pictorique villages bouncing back and ever more beautiful, but can't lose sight of the might of the nature that can take away everyrhinf it gives you Note: the boat trip, like everything else in Japan that requires reservation, needs to be planned ahead in advance about 30-60 days (the window doesn't open till then).

Nice Boat Tour going down the Kumano River. It also part of the pilgrimage while going to Shingu. Our Guide is Kioko. she explain to us about the pass and also the damage typhoon does to the region. We also have a deep understanding about the river and the region. Her flute playing skill is also good. cya all again soon :)

Highly recommend the cruise by boat down the river to Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine - the route that connects Hongu and Shingu. Plan to spend around 90 minutes experiencing magnificent nature and listening to the call of wild birds as well as an explanation of points of interest provided by a "storyteller" in English!

We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon on the boat tour. Despite it being cold and windy with a little drizzly at times, we still had a wonderful experience. Our guide was friendly, spoke clear English and was entertaining. The river scenery was beautiful. And it amazing to know people have taken this voyage for over 1,000 years. The perfect way to travel to Shingu after walking Kumano Kodo to Hongu.

Beautiful waterfall in a nice setting. Getting to the fall isn't too difficult. If you're driving a small car (we drove a Toyota Raize), you should be able to get across the narrow bridge and park right next to the small cemetery. Parking area should be able to accommodate two cars easily. Hike in the forest was about 20 minutes, path is clear but some rickety old wooden steps in some places. When you get to the falls, the view is semi blocked to the left, and you'd have to clamber across wet rocks to get to the right side of the stream for a better view. Crossing can be dangerous due to slippery rocks - be careful. But the remoteness of these falls means you'd practically have the whole place to yourself - we only saw two other hikers during our 1.5hours there. Overall a nice trip out in the forest!
Wayne H — Google review
This is not a difficult trail to go to the waterfall. It's going to be a 20-minute trunk from the entrance area. However if your feet are very big it might be difficult to find a foothold because some of the areas are bit narrow. There are many tree roots. It's easy to trip or sprain an ankle. What day in mid-November there was no one there at all at around 8 in the morning. So it's a nice place to enjoy quiet breakfast and enjoy the sound of the water. The water was refreshing and tasted neutral. I don't recommend drinking it but at the same time, I don't think it's dangerous. Many of the areas have a sign that say only one person at a time should cross. Be careful and make sure that not too many people are on the bridge.

(Translated by Google) Although it is not very well known, this waterfall is also included in the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, and it is truly a wonderful waterfall. I saw the waterfall in the morning, and the halo was just right, making it a fantastic sight. It was a struggle to get there, but it was really wonderful and I was mesmerized for a while. The waterfall itself is wonderful, but it is difficult to get there. It may not be a big deal for those with good walking skills, but those who are not confident will need to be prepared. ① The bridge at the entrance is narrow, so park on the side. ② The start is at the entrance to the forest next to the graveyard. ③ When you see the stone wall, turn right! The left is off the course. ④ The moss-covered stones and wooden boards are very slippery. ⑤ It is not flat at all, and there are many ups and downs. Especially ③, if you miss the stone wall steps and go straight along the riverside, you will be off the course and end up right under the bridge. You can somehow get back, but it is dangerous when the river floods. It is not flat at all, and heels are out of the question, and sandals are also not allowed. You need sneakers and long pants. There were also lots of animal footprints, so maybe we'll even see a bear? The reward is great if you work hard, so do your best to reach the waterfall.

Scenic spot
Dorokyo Gorge, situated near Shingu City, offers a 31 km stretch of stunning natural beauty and exciting activities. Visitors can embark on a water jet boat tour along the emerald green river, marveling at peculiar rock formations and the picturesque Boshi-no-taki Falls. Accessible by rental car or bus, the boarding point for the boat tour is "Dorokyo Meguri-no Sato Kumanogawa River".
The most gorgeous gorge! ❤️ In the morning there was no people around since the hotel and cafe opens at 11:30 so it was very peaceful. Parking is free and they also provide water sports rental at the hotel, but you can also bring your own gear. This place was so unbelievably beautiful and one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been in Japan!

It has been tough for me to find information on where to go in the Dorokyo Gorge area, so hopefully this is helpful - this is an absolutely beautiful scenic spot. The hotel/cafe next to it is closed from January to March (at least in 2024) but you can still walk around the cliff side and down to the rocky beach. This turn of the gorge is absolutely beautiful. In the winter, a lot of the gorge looks dry, but this part is full and vibrant. A beautiful scenic point to take in this amazing landscape!

Waterfall
(Translated by Google) It was the height of summer, so the upper half was obscured by trees. From what I could see, it was a simple, ordinary waterfall that was satisfying to see in person, but I don't think it looks very picturesque in a photograph. The waterfall is easily accessible from the road, and there's an open space in front of it so you can enjoy the view. However, the road to the village was incredibly stressful. I headed south from Oguchi village in the north, but the road through the mountains was endless and difficult to pass other vehicles, so I worried about what I would do if an oncoming car came.

(Translated by Google) 2023.11 Revisited The original winding path of Ichi-no-taki was almost a straight path, following the remains of the old promenade and leftover ropes, but there were trails along the way that seemed to lead directly up, creating a branch. After climbing downstream and changing direction upstream, you will find a mixture of tiger rope and hemp rope on the left once you have climbed halfway up. The slope is steep with some cliff-like parts, so even those who are used to it should be careful. 2021.11 revisit 2019.9 Country 168 If you go south on Prefectural Route 44 from the Shingu direction, you will see a sign just after passing the Takimoto Power Plant and it will be closed as soon as you enter the forest road. Several cars can be parked in front of the road closure barricade. The entrance is steep and depending on the height of your car, you may get scratched, so it's safer to park in a vacant lot along the prefectural road and walk. A few minutes walk along the forest road from the barricade leads to an open plaza with an entrance at the back. After 1-2 minutes you will see Horyu Falls on your left, so cross the wooden bridge on the left and proceed. There is a walking path, but there are some slippery spots and climbing up and down rocks, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. If you walk for about 10 to 15 minutes from the prefectural road, you can reach the basin of Ichi-no-taki. It is truly a famous waterfall, but the prefectural road 44 that leads to it is a continuous bad road from the Shingu direction and Nachikatsuura direction. I still think it's better to go south from Shingu, but it's a tiring road. I think it's better to look at Street View beforehand. There is Ni-no-taki above Ichi-no-taki, but the route to Ni-no-taki is extremely dangerous.

This is a spectacular waterfall that is also called Ura Nachi. About 10 minutes walk from the signboard on the road. You will need to wear comfortable shoes as there are parts of the trail where you will have to cross rocky areas. Ichi-no-taki is a direct waterfall, and you can get close to the basin of the waterfall, but the water is spraying so violently that you will get a little wet even if you are far away. To approach the basin of the waterfall, it is safer to climb up the bushes on the left rather than up the slippery rocky slope. However, when the water rises, it is so intense that it can be scary, so it is dangerous to get close to it. The second waterfall is a tiered waterfall with a basin similar to the lower tier. You can go to the front of the waterfall, but the winding of the first waterfall is unclear and quite difficult, so please think that there is basically no path. The way to wrap it is to attach it from the back right facing the waterfall. If you are going to wear a waterfall, wear something that is easy to move around in and does not expose your skin. Sturdy shoes are required. If you're going to enter the valley from here, it's best to wear rubber shoes. Parking space available. You can park somewhere nearby. Although it is not a very long distance, the road conditions leading to the site are so bad that you might get driving sickness, so please be careful. The wind around the waterfall is difficult and difficult to drive, but there is a great sense of accomplishment when you reach it. The first waterfall alone is enough to satisfy you, so I think it's worth going there.

There is a signboard for Horyu Falls and Nono Falls near the quiet bridge. Park your car nearby and walk along the forest road for 5.6 minutes. You can see the waterfall. If you look from a distance, you can see that there are 1 and 2 tiers. The entrance gate to the waterfall is closed, so cars cannot enter. There is a walking path leading to the waterfall, so you can get there without getting lost. You can reach the waterfall in about 15 minutes on foot. There is an abundance of water due to the rain. A stepped waterfall with a drop of 105m. Therefore, I was able to get closer and check only the bottom row. You have to either view the upper tier from a distance or wrap around the lower tier to get to the upper tier. You can enjoy the beautiful basin of the waterfall just from the lower tier. (Translated by Google) It is a famous waterfall in Wakayama, also known as "Ura Nachi". Simply put, it's amazing. There's a rock jump at the end, but if you slip on the moss or rain, you'll be out in a lot of ways. Also, if you go, be sure to go south from the north. The roads are horrible if you come from the south.

The end of the road is a plaza where you can see a small portion of the two-tiered waterfall. It's about a 10 minute walk from there to the waterfall basin, but the road in front of the wooden bridge has collapsed. Therefore, you need to be careful. This place is only open 1130 to 130pm so be sure you don’t miss it. Excellent ramen.

Rich broth but does not reek of pork. Broth is thick enough to cling onto the noodles and doesn't stick on your mouth. The Charshu is tender and I could bite it easily even though it was thick. Highly recommend.

No English menu but some photos hanging on the counter were helpful, or google translate could help too. Big serving & ok with tastes. Chewy noodle. Gyoza a little bland. Close 9pm. A few designated parking opposite the shop.
