Visiting the Shankari Devi Shakti Peetham in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, was a profoundly spiritual experience. Koneswaram Temple or Tirukoneswaram Kovil is situated on top of Swami Rock. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva, and it is one out of five such temples situated around Sri Lanka. It is believed that this Kovil has been in existence since 2500 years ago, and was renovated by the South Indian Chola King Kulakottan and maintained by other Sinhala Buddhist Kings. In 1622, the Portuguese destroyed this temple which they referred to as the temple of a thousand columns by shoving the temple over the edge of the cliff into the deep blue seas below. The revered Shiva lingam (mark of Shiva) was subsequently rescued by divers. The Portuguese used the building materials of the temple in the construction of Fort Fredrick. Car parking place is near very closer to Kovil hence people who has difficulties in walking even can visit this beautiful place. Many wild animals like monkeys, deers and variety of birds can be seen living peacefully

A Fort built during the time of the Portuguese. It’s maintained by the archeological department and you need to buy tickets to explore it. There are ruins of old bunkers,and look out points, and weapon mounts. Interesting if you’re into history, you might need about and hour two depending on how much you like to look and learn. They need to add more signs to explain.

I wish if they can show more details and directions inside the fort.

Built in the time when Portuguese invaded, it has changed hands to Dutch and to English, there is an army camp in this location and the Kodeshwaram temple separately. There is a small fee for locals and different fee for foreigners ( been told its too expensive) The views are stunning and the overall fort is spectacular, The Kovil was destroyed by the Portuguese back in the day and the statues are still underwater near tye sawmi rock, the dives is about 80 feet and an experience of a lifetime, the water has such a unique colour, Do this if you can, any local dive centre will take you there if you ask for " Swami rock"

The view points were gorgeous, without these the entrance fee for the rest wouldn't be worth it. It's interesting to note that the history of the area, but there isn't lots to see and not much information about the historical aspects. If you're going for some nice views and a wander, great! If you're going for the history, I think most would be disappointed due to the lack of information.

The fort also houses military installations, so certain areas are restricted, but visitors can still explore sections that lead to breathtaking views of Trincomalee’s coastline, including the famous Koneswaram Temple perched on the cliff’s edge. The blend of colonial architecture, sacred sites, and scenic ocean panoramas makes it a unique stop in the city. Wear comfortable shoes, bring a camera, and keep an eye out for the friendly deer that often wander close to visitors.

The museum exhibits interesting historical artifacts and shares vast knowledge about the maritime vessels along with facts on Trincomalee harbor. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The building and the surrounding premises are badly in need of an upgrade. However they said that they were out of tickets since it's a weekend (Sunday) so we were asked to pay Rs. 100 per head. I saw some reviews which said they were free to enter while others have paid only Rs. 20 per head, so it wouldn't be certain until you visit. The lights were flickering in certain exhibit areas and some exhibits were in the dark. There seemed to be a few empty rooms and the place doesn't seem to be well maintained. They must give priority for the renovation.

An understated museum in a beautifully restored historic building. It tells the long history of trading and the navy in a small number of exhibits. The staff are very enthusiastic and will put on an interesting 10 minute video if requested. There's a good view over Dutch beach from the roof. No entry ticket but voluntary contribution at the end.

Setting foot inside this museum is like travelling back in time. It primarily showcases the naval history of Trincomalee. The guide passionately describes each exhibit in detail which makes it more enjoying. You get to know a lot about the region. The museum is open everyday between 9 am to 4 pm except Tuesday. Entry fees are LKR 100/= for foreign adults and LKR 50/= for foreign children. Though its a small museum but for me, it's one of the best museums I have visited around Sri Lanka.

Shows the history of invasions and changes overtime in the country and around the area. Officials who looks after the place got good knowledge and willing to explain the history of the items on display. Building was in ruins and was rebuilt. They have done a brilliant job in restoring the building. You can see pictures of its former state. Can climb to the floor around the roof where you can get good views of the sea front.

You must visit this place when you travel to trinco. This is a very good place to explore the naval history of Sri Lanka. a lot of knowledge and information can be obtained here. The building is restored well. It is free for all. A lot of monuments and artifacts can be seen and it all preserved well. Parking available.

We had the best scuba diving experience ever with Pigeon Island Diving Center! From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel so safe, welcomed, and excited. They took the time to explain every single detail in the most patient and friendly way, which helped calm our nerves as first-timers. You can really tell how passionate they are about what they do, and that made all the difference. The dive itself was absolutely unforgettable—breathtaking underwater views, vibrant marine life, and the most calming, supportive guidance throughout. They turned our first dive into a memory we’ll never forget. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to share this with. Truly grateful for such an amazing experience. Highly recommend them to anyone visiting Sri Lanka and looking to try scuba diving—it’s an absolute must!

We visited the diving centre on 14th June 2025 and had a highly positive experience. The staff were professional, welcoming, and demonstrated a strong commitment to providing quality service. The diving instructors, in particular, were well-experienced and highly knowledgeable, offering clear guidance and practical tips tailored to each learner’s needs. Their calm and patient approach helped build confidence behind the wheel. The overall environment was well-organized and supportive, making it an excellent place for anyone seeking to develop or refine their diving skills.

We stopped by the Pigeon Island Diving Center quite spontaneously and ended up doing six fantastic dives. The dive instructor Shyam guided us with a wonderful sense of humor while always keeping a strong focus on safety – both during the briefings and underwater. This gave us complete confidence, allowed us to learn new things, and made every dive an absolute joy. The staff member Sabeena welcomed us so warmly and organized everything with great care. During the breaks we were even served tea, and as a special extra, besides our own shots, we also received GoPro photos free of charge. Both of them truly grew close to our hearts – Shyam as an outstanding instructor and Sabeena with her kind and thoughtful support. This is a dive center where you feel completely safe, warmly welcomed, and among friends – all while discovering beautiful dive sites. Absolutely recommended! 🌊🤿✨

Marble Beach is beautiful but can not see any waves. It is like a tank but anyone can swim and enjoy the sea water there. In order to enter you have to buy a ticket which is really affordable ( 0.1 - 0.3US$ ). Vehicle parking is also free. You can find drinking water for free too.

A stunning, quiet beach with minimal facilities. Entrance fee is 50 rupees only. Feels very safe and its beautiful. Beach looks like it's kept clean. There are toilets, not cleanest but not stinky, so still okay (ALWAYS BRING TOILET PAPER!) Theres a drinks and tiny snacks shop (crisps), but no real food. Better to bring some food with you if you hate walking in the heat. I was one of the few ladies in bikini there, but I felt okay. I saw some navy/police guy patrolling there, I think that's why it stays calm. In a 10-15 mins walk you can get to Marble Beach Resort to eat good, diverse food. I read a lot of negative reviews about that restaurant but the food I ordered there was good and prepared quickly.

When you first arrive at Mable Beach, the entry process is pretty simple. You purchase a ticket for just Rs. 50, which gives you access to both the hotel grounds and the public beach. After that, you drive forward and reach a Y-junction take the left turn for the hotel or the right turn for the public beach. The public beach is free with your ticket. It’s nice but can get quite busy during long weekends or public holidays. On a regular day though, it’s fairly quiet with just a few people around. We decided to check out the hotel side, which is partially managed by the Sri Lanka Air Force. They offer a really good day-out package for Rs. 2000, which is worth it in my opinion. With this, you get: * Access to their private beach (only for hotel guests), * A buffet meal, * Use of changing rooms, * Plenty of comfortable seating by the beach, * Plus, optional activities like scuba diving and water sports in the mornings. The private beach is spotless, peaceful, and not crowded at all a huge contrast to the public side. The views are stunning, and it’s the kind of place you can really relax without interruptions. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, which made the whole experience even better. The hotel also has rooms you can book on a full-board basis. While we didn’t stay overnight, the rooms looked clean and decent, making it a nice option for a longer getaway. Overall i would say Mable Beach turned out to be a really refreshing escape in Trincomalee. Whether you just want a quick dip in the public beach or a more relaxed, all-inclusive day by the private shore, there’s something here for everyone. For us, the day package was definitely worth it clean beach, good food, and great vibes.

Mabel Beach Treenco is a peaceful and beautiful place by the ocean. The view is amazing, especially during sunset. The staff are very kind and helpful, always with a smile. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the beach is just a few steps away. Perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

A truly beautiful and relaxing beach with stunning blue water. Giving it 4 stars due to the overly large and sometimes disruptive crowds. Highly recommend for the scenery, but expect it to be very busy.

Beautiful quiet sandy beach suitable for swimming 40 minute drive from Trincomalee. It costs 20 rupees per person (August 2025) to enter via a Police gate. There’s a small snorkelling centre on the beach, but the places to buy food and drink were closed when we visited. Also don’t be put off by the rubbish strewn car park. The beach is clean and largely litter free.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Visited the ISSO outlet in Trincomalee yesterday and had a fantastic experience! The food was absolutely delicious 🤤 we ordered the Freshwater king prawns 🦐, Chicken burger with sweet potato fries and Banana spring rolls with ice cream for dessert. The Prawns were fresh, juicy and perfectly seasoned. The Chicken burger was flavorful with a crispy patty and soft bun and the sweet potato fries were a perfect side, crispy and tasty. The dessert was the highlight 😊 crispy Banana spring rolls paired beautifully with the ice cream. It’s my second time dining at ISSO but first time at the Trincomalee outlet. Loved the beautiful interior designs and friendly, welcoming staff. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Today I visited ISSO Restaurant in Trincomalee . The restaurant was very clean, The food was amazing as always, with that same authentic taste in Colombo ISSO we’ve loved from the start. I saw the staffs working happily. They gave 15% to local this is a good plan . I am looking forward to the upcoming seafood BBQ in 3rd floor with sea-view.

We had lunch at Isso during our stay in Trinco. Food and service were great considering it was during peak hours. I hope the restaurant would do something with the flies. I understand that this is inevitable when serving seafood, but a candle per table would be a big help. It can be annoying having to shoo away flies every other second.

We were living near the ISSO restaurant for several days and always passed by, because we thought it looks expensive - we were so wrong! The prices for the food quality is definitelly adequate, and the portions are generous! Everything that we ordered was delitious! The tuna, prawns kottu and deserts were fantastic! The food here is quite good, and what surprised me the most is how affordable it is. If you're looking for delicious vegetarian options without breaking the bank, this is the place to go. I especially loved their Kottu with soyameat; it was a delightful combination of flavours. Also the portion size was really good.

Vegetarian food in Trinco, really near Dutch Bay. We paid 1020 rupees. Rice and curry, some snacks (savory and sweet -3) and a ginger beer. The waiter was really attentive. Tasty food, good environment and nice vibes. I reccomend it with my eyes closed. Coming back soon if you are at the area!

One of the best places I have found in trinco town to have a good meal. This is a vegan place with very big verity. Food is not expensive and place is also cleaner when compare to most places nearby. Limited seats available so its getting bit busy with people on meal times. But a pace to try.

This easily found restaurant quickly became our favorite, drawing us back three times in just two days—for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, offering a true taste of the region. The service was also top-notch, making each visit a pleasure. Arafa's popularity means it's often bustling and a bit noisy, and while the food is fantastic, the cleanliness of the dining area could use a facelift. Despite the lively atmosphere and minor imperfections, Arafa’s fantastic food and exceptional service make it an unmissable experience for anyone seeking a genuine Trincomalee meal. It's a true local gem!

Ate here two days in a row because it is that good! they bring over a plate of roti snacks first. then we ordered other items like string hopper and dhal curry. milk tea was so good! friendly staff and very helpful. 2 people for lunch and takeaway snacks was only less than $4usd

We randomly spotted this place on our way to our accommodation and absolutely loved it! We came back 3 more times. We tried many different things. We loved the Parata and Hoppers the most. Especially the sweet hoppers in the evening were an absolute treat! If we wouldn’t travel to a new city now, we would definitely go again. It’s also very cheap and full of locals. Definitely recommend!

Disappointing Experience – Overpriced and Misleading We had a very disappointing experience at Arafa Hotel. Despite its reputation for being affordable, we found it to be extremely overpriced. Worse, they placed several curry items on our table without our request, then charged us for them. Even for basic items, the prices were shockingly high. It felt like we were being taken advantage of. I do not recommend this place to anyone expecting honest service or clear pricing. Be cautious if you choose to eat here

If you want to try the local unusual cuisine, then in this cafe. Nice fast staff, friendly service. Everyone smiles. The prices are cheap. Very tasty kotthu. They will also bring you very sweet tea and water. You can have dinner for $1.5 per person. Kotthu roti is made from various flatbreads called "Godhambara roti" originating from Indian paratha. The wells are not very deep, with a maximum depth of around 4 feet, making them safe and accessible for most visitors. Along the road leading to the site, there are small shops selling sweets and little accessories, adding to the charm of the visit. However, be cautious with your belongings, as monkeys in the area can be mischievous. That said, there are some areas for improvement. The changing rooms are currently not in a usable state—they lack locks, and the washrooms are closed. Additionally, the floors of the wells can be slippery due to algae, so it’s important to be careful while bathing. It would also be helpful if more buckets were provided, ideally at least one bucket per well, to enhance the experience. These improvements would make the place more user-friendly and enjoyable for everyone. Despite these shortcomings, the natural hot water bath is a truly special experience that shouldn’t be missed.

However, the area is not maintained at all. The surroundings are very dirty, with litter scattered around and stagnant water in places. Facilities are poorly managed, and there’s little information or guidance for visitors. It’s a shame because the site has potential, but right now it feels neglected. Worth a quick stop if you’re curious, but don’t expect much in terms of cleanliness or comfort.

This is a nice place where you can find hot water springs 🫧. You can bath 🚿 but without shampoo or 🧼 soap. The water is not for drink. There are plenty of shops to buy local sweets, herbs,hats 🤠, bags, etc. The ticket price for locals is Rs 100 and foreigners Rs 500. They have free parking space. Can park buses, vans, cars. There is a wide area for parking.

Nice location. It has free carpark facilities, only a 5 min walk. I recommend go to the historical site directly. No need to buy tickets. There is only few steps. Can travel with old people or children. Wheelchair access to the site is not there. But can see from a distance. The stone carving are impressive.

Hindu temple in golden color. Close to Upavelli beach. A large territory, before entering the temple, you must take off your shoes and wash your feet. Sand and asphalt are hot, you need to run. For men, knees should be covered, but the shirt should be removed. Women must wear long skirts. Inside are beautiful Hindu statues. Bypass clockwise. No photography allowed. I recommend to visit.

Golden colour temple. No photography allowed inside the temple. Men can't wear shirts inside the temple but can walk around the temple.

New kovil. Interesting. If you are a guy, remember, to take off your shirt before entering temple. Entry is free.

Highly recommend for tourists visiting eastern province to visit this temple. Just be aware that all male youths and adults has to take off the shirts or any dress above waist to go inside.

Food was unreal. Would highly recommend, got the hot butter chicken dish and it was one of the best dishes I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Also got a nice beer, and it was probably the coldest beer I’ve ever had. Service was fantastic, vibes even better Highly recommend

A cozy place with lovely hosts and delicious food. I tried coconut roti with dhal curry and coconut sambol. It felt like a warm hug. While the food came, we enjoyed some refreshing beverages made with king coconut and local fruits, with toes dipped in cool sand. Recommended!

Had dinner with my family here. Food was very good- ordered fish and chips, grilled chicken. Bolognaise wasn’t great but ok. Prices are a little high compared to restaurants nearby. All staff are friendly and welcoming. Like most places in Trincomalee, the food took a while to be prepared as it is freshly made. Waited approx 50mins -meanwhile daughter fell asleep and couldn’t eat the food but they were kind to provide a container to take some food back to the hotel for her. Lovely atmosphere.

I stayed in the hostel and had breakfast here. The coconut roti breakfast was delicious and I got it multiple times. However, the lunch was pretty average and I wouldn’t have gone again, except for our hostel discount.

I ordered chicken sandwich, it took 45 minutes to come - dry bread and, cold, small portion and small salad :( I wish it was better and hope you’ll learn from this ! I saw the restaurant recommended in a list online and really wanted to try it. Turns out, it was extremely close to our stay. Every time we passed it on our walk, it was always bustling with people. The vibe’s chill with good music and friendly hosts. We did have to wait a little, but it was worth it. We had crab curry and rice with a side of a super refreshing salad. The crab was as fresh as it gets, huge, juicy, loaded with succulent meat. The curry was aromatic, tempered with a variety of spices, made in traditional Sri Lankan style. Definitely recommend.

The crab curry is a must try if you come to this restaurant. All the other dishes were average.The staff is friendly and recommends items on the menu. The ambiance gives vacation vibes. There are a-lot of choices for drinks as well.

Amazing vibes day and night but matched with even better food! I had crab curry and it took me back to having great homes cooked food, but a refined version with the kuzhumbhu (gravy) so smooth, flavourful and punchy. Lots of my family came at different times and all spoke about their excellent experience! Hospitality and service was excellent - managed expectations, but also went above and beyond - we were with my 9 month old and when they saw him, they gave him a complimentary large plate of fresh juicy fruits. Also when I knocked my cocktail over (which was soooo tasty) it was replaced free of charge. Then to find out it is a family run restaurant with the owner's daughters being the cooks and his son, and nephews from across the country that he has given opportunities to, look after service was refreshing - it is so rare for a restaurant run by a local family to flourish for all the right reasons, so this was great. Next time we're back we'll try and do a cooking lesson in the morning!

The food was very good. You may find some local cuisine as well as more general options. The owner is such a nice person! He told us the story of the restaurant - it's such a nice work for the local community. He explained everything about our dishes and talked a bit about Sri Lanka. They also pay attention to the tourists' stomachs - food is not spicy and light and they use packaged ice. Definitely worth a visit!

Lunch for 6 people. Restaurant practically empty but they took almost 2 hours to serve us. Fresh water finished. Waiters polite but disorganised. I understand waiting an hour, but 2 for 6 rice dishes with the place practically empty is too much.

We came here for dinner on a 2 day trip to Trincomalee and had our best meal in Sri Lanka! I got the whole fish in a curry and my friends got the grilled fish and the sea food platter. Ohhhh I went for the dosa because I read a good recommendation from another user, I can said that the dosas are so tasty!! And the portion is 2 dosas filled with masala veggies and dhal curry to dip them in it!!! I love local food and the owners seems to be a family, you can feel the warmth welcoming:) I will come back to this delicious place.

Great food, probably the best food I've had in Sri Lanka. Great service, family establishment and everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. I have tried fish curry and crab curry, both were fantastic. If you can handle the spice, definitely worth trying Sri Lankan style. I also had egg kottu, watermelon juicez both of which were excellent. Their pineapple fritter with ice cream was great. Excellent food and service, very reasonable prices.

We reached here at nearly 4pm, very very hungry, after snorkelling all morning! The lady running the restaurant was super kind enough to cook us up some lunch. She made veg fried rice and seafood fried rice, both excellent, super flavourful. we ordered veg noodles and veg chopsuey, both delicate and delicious. their freshly made iced tea is also very refreshing. but what was best about the place was the love with which she cooked for us and fed our hungry tummies! thank you!!!

Sana's restaurant in Nilaveli offers a great opportunity to experience authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. My visit there, especially the experience with the Rice & Curry, was extremely positive. BEST CORDON BLUE EVER! its not on their current menu but they make the most tasty cordon blue!! It comes with a super delicious fresh salad and crispy fries. ! Note: because they need to prepare you need to order 1 day in advance but its worth the wait! Also other meat dishes (chef specials of the old menu, you can pre order) !! note that the prices on the old menu are not accurate but its worth every penny!! The guys make you the most delicious food, you should eat here if you are in Trincomalee !!

I had an amazing experience at Wood Cape! The hot butter cuttlefish was perfectly crispy, the deviled calamari had the right balance of spice and the fish nasi goreng was full of flavor. Enroute to Nilaveli we stopped here for lunch. We ordered fried rice, crab curry, cuttlefish fry, cuttlefish curry and prawns fry. The food was excellent and the meat was fresh as it gets. Wonderful staff and fast service. Prices are reasonable and they do provide take away facility. We ordered dinner for take away and 2 days later had our lunch again when returning home. Can improve on the ambience and sanitation facilities for customers. Highly recommended for travellers who visit trincomalee & Nilaveli.

Great location on the beach. Clean and nice surroundings. Fernando’s basically has the monopoly and therefore charge way too much for what they have on offer. Drinks are about 5times more than bars further down the beach. The staff were also pretty rude. Mandatory service charge when there was no service. They only serve you if you are a large table, otherwise you will need to go up to the bar.

The most expensive beer in Sri Lanka (1200 rupees) and served WARM! I don't need my beer ice-cold... Just not warm, please... the food in the "market place" is very good though. The "cafe on the 18th" very good but somewhat expensive. The focaccia of the "pizzeria" was delicious.

We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at Fernando's. At first we didn't understand the concept, as it's not a restaurant where you just sit but there are multiple food stands where you can order and they either bring you your order or you have to pick it up when it's ready. The prices are quit high - but we really apreciated the good coffee!!

Good location, very close to the beautiful beaches. Nice place with some shadow. Good variety of cocktails, especially watermelon one is awesome. However prices are insane, so the value for money is not balanced

This place is prime location and therefore expensive. But it’s still less than half the price of the UK! The food we had was also really good, so I didn’t feel ripped off. You can go to one of the places further down the beach if price is the primary concern. Sun loungers for anybody to use and a great selection of food and drink. Plus the excellent dive school is right next to it.

It's a great spot, the food is nice, good music but it gets so dirty. The management don't seem to put anyone properly cleaning beyond occasionally half heartedly clearing a table - tables left full of food waste that the crows get at and throw stuff on the floor, so with the amount of people that come through it gets really quite gross by 3pm with overflowing bins, plastic trash on the floor and generally unclean. Really depressing. With management that cared about keeping this continuously clean it'd be the perfect spot.

This place has amazing food and an incredible view. The cocktails are really nice too. I wouldn’t think twice about coming here again whenever I visit Trincomalee. Such a lovely place!

Such a lovely shop with some gorgeous things and some delicious tea flavours available. I got some really nice coconut bowls with the most beautiful elephants on them. The owner was so nice, took the time to speak with us, she can speak various languages and even gave us a gift and some fruit. Such a nice experience and would recommend anybody in the area to visit this hidden gem!

We got two rings, two sets of earrings and a pendant made here. The son and father were both really friendly however coming back to England we are appalled with the quality of the products. One ring we had to return before we came back because the quality wasn’t good. One ring (see below) supposedly 9kt gold has lost its colour and it so scratched - it’s been on month. The pendant’s sapphire fell out of the setting on the first wear. We paid a lot of money for these pieces and they are not worth it. Had asked for a partial refund and am awaiting to hear back. DO NOT purchase from here.

We’re staying about 15–20 minutes away by tuk tuk, and we actually found this place on Google. We came here for breakfast — my friends ordered breakfast bowl, and I went for more of a lunch-style plate. The prices are reasonable — not cheap, but definitely not expensive either. And the portions are fantastic! We’ve had trouble with small portions at many places, but here you actually feel full after your meal. Fruit bowls were served cold, hot dishes were nice and rich, and everything was super tasty. We’re leaving very happy. Great food, great service — such a lovely experience, thank you guys ☺️

Chill restaurant at the beach, nice view, medium comfy hammock and very tasty food. It is not the cheapest place around, but the tuna really worth it. Also, one of the best coffees I’ve drunk in Sri Lanka! I really recommend it

Really enjoyed Uppaveli and Cafe on the 18th was amazing. The food is really good and presented really well, great choice and we went for lots of our meals. Yeah it isn't cheap by Sri Lankan standards but still cheap for us westerners! On our final night we ate on the beach next to the fire sat on beanbags, it was very memorable. The coffee is quality and you can order from the other food stands (Chinese - great dumplings!, Mexican & pizza truck) if Japanese isn't your thing. Great beach in front, really clean and lots of shaded seating. A*

Our favorite place in Trincomale. In 8 days we came here at least 6-7 times. Process are high for Sir lanka. But food was great, service -top. The owner often greeted us. They have enough space to eat, tables to play board games. Salads and Sushi were our common orders.

Good Tacos, Great Vibe — but a Few Misses The tacos were really good, definitely a treat after nearly a month in Sri Lanka without any Mexican food. As a big foodie, I wouldn’t call them fully authentic, but they hit the spot. I get that the area has a lot of foreigners who might be sensitive to spice, but I do wish there were better spicy options than just Tabasco. Something like a proper salsa or chili sauce would go a long way. The guacamole didn’t quite wow me — it was okay, but missing that freshness or flavor punch. The salad had potential to be great, but unfortunately came drenched in dressing, which overpowered everything else. The garlic sauce however stole the show, definitely a winner! It’s hard to justify the price point. You’re definitely paying for the beachfront location more than the food itself. Service was a bit off at first, borderline dismissive (generally kinda rude) when I approached the counter, though I don’t fully blame the staff, as I noticed other customers being rude to them. Thankfully, someone else from the stand later made a clear effort to turn things around, which I really appreciated. The atmosphere leans very beachy and party-like, lots of loud music and a vacation vibe. Probably best for travelers who enjoy that kind of scene. All that said, I’d still come back if I’m in Trincomalee again….. I’d just bring my own salsa verde to the party next time…..

Food is absolutely amazing! After a while in Sri Lanka you would never expect it but it is really worth the hype! Yes a bit pricey but beleive me worth it. We had partially self service, but also preparations were quick. Place is on the beach you can see the beach cows and the beautiful ocean 😊 Lots of tourist compared to other locations.

The food ia great, fresh ingredients and lots of flavor. Same for the drinks, perfectly refreshing for a day at the beach. The staff is also really friendly. Definitely recommend.

I usually don’t like to repeat visit a restaurant, I would rather sample what the area has to offer. That being said, today was my third visit to Abrazo for lunch at the beach. The food is prepared well and the portions are generous and the quality of the ingredients is superb . Our waiter, Nishan , was wonderful and very attentive. The atmosphere is also great with a spectacular view of the beach and ocean. The next time we visit Trincomalee, Abrazo will definitely be at the top of my list to revisit.

This was our first visit. The entire experience from being greeted at the door by the staff, atmosphere and the service was wonderful. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and really large portions. Discounted for guests which is great. Thank you so much Mr. Sumudu for the special dish. Fantastic Grilled fish, with creamy and sour sauce. The local spice Fragrant was delicate, teasing our palate, whereas the Garlic and Sour Cream was addictively aggressive. Perfectly balanced with the veggies and salad. Everything was so fresh! Very hearty and indulgent. High Tide has a great ambiance, all mixed together with an upbeat dining experience leaves an impression that lasts. Dine here once, and you'll be sure it will not be your last. “YOUR CHOICE” is THE BEST PLACE TO GET FRESHLY PREPARED AND SERVED SEAFOOD IN TRINCOMALEE. If you're going to seafood places in Trinco, you're probably spending too much. If you go here, you get the essentials. You get more seafood than you can eat. Definitely the best seafood ever had. Nice beach bar. Went here a few times and nice chilled atmosphere. The menu is international, and pizza is exceptionally good (the sweet Nutella pizza is surprisingly pleasing!). Bit pricy vs other options off the beach in the area, but setting and chilled atmosphere makes up for it!

The museum features a wide array of weaponry, including rifles, machine guns, artillery, armored vehicles, tanks, and rocket launchers used by the Sri Lanka Army—and notably, captured equipment from the LTTE. Visitors can climb inside some of the tanks for a hands-on view. Perched atop Orr’s Hill overlooking Trincomalee Harbor, the museum provides tranquil vistas and vivid sunset views that complement the educational displays.

A museum showcasing weapons used during war time, well maintained, some have interesting descriptions while others don’t. You can go inside the tanks but if crowded there will be some waiting time, there’s a small shooting range as well.

Old war guns and equipment are exhibited here. You have to buy tickets at the entrance. A good alternative instead of visiting the Navy museum where hard to enter.

Located along the Trincomalee coastline, Dutch Bay is an incredibly wholesome and charming place that is a quintessential representation of coastal living. Its gentle, sweeping beach and relaxing ambiance make it a wonderful place for slackers and adventurers alike to escape. You start your day off beautifully here. The sunrise is nothing short of spectacular as the sky blushes with soft pinks and oranges in the approximate. The utterly calm sea, tranquil as a swimming pool, mimics these colours, going from deep morning blue to crystal, scintillating turquoise as the sun rises higher. Often, you will see fishing boats in their silhouettes embark on their daily fishing trips adding to the idyllic scenery. Throughout the day, the bay itself is an open refuge. The water is so crystal clear and the waves rolling in are so gentle that it can be thought of as a safe and well-used area for swimming and splashing for families with shallow waters. The fine golden sand was beautiful for sunbathing or leisurely walks. Water sport enthusiasts could also benefit from nearby vendors for fun activities, anything from jet skiing to snorkeling. As the heat of the afternoon begins to mellow, Dutch Bay becomes more active and social.

There is the hotel andbthe free beach and the free beaxh is popular spot for dining even though there are limited facilities. No wash rooms availabe on site and place is infested with crows looking to snatch your snak any time. The trees are a wecome site due tobthe scroching sun in the afternoon. There were some deers spotted there and they are not easily botheredd by the crowd. Government can enhance the facilities and charge a small fee. At the momnet thisbis kor very much recommended.

A proper locals beach, so does get quite busy. Overall, absolutely minging. Years of litter stretched across the beach along the surface and under the sand. Close to the road so there is lots of unpleasant traffic noise. And … there is raw sewage flowing out into the sea, which is not nice to witness. We give this beach 1-star which is purely for the backdrop of trees in parts and the views, otherwise, we would not recommend this beach at all – not even if passing. Out of all the beaches uber been so far, this is the best I guess. This is because l, it is watched by life guards a d also the water Is way more safer. To add on, the water is jot that salty as well. It's more clear. This is a beautiful place as well. Trés bien......(.......very good........in French.........). After a hit as well, the tide starts to come in and the life guards are on guard. Some people in the later hours are advised to leave the shore and the beach since the bigger waves come in and it also gets darker. Very protective. This is better than the beach in Colombo......(.....Galle......face*.........beach........which is in one of my previous reviews which you should definitely read). There are no life guards there. You go in at your own risk. Your life is in your hands because no one really goes in more than 2-3 yards I the sea shore.

Dutch Bay Beach is a beautiful and peaceful spot in Trincomalee. The water is calm and clear, perfect for swimming or snorkeling, and the view is amazing, especially during sunset. It’s not too crowded, so you can really relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The beach is also close to Fort Frederick and Koneswaram Temple, which makes it easy to combine with sightseeing. There are lifeguards on duty, and you can find snacks and drinks nearby. Only small downside is a bit of litter in some areas, but overall it’s clean and safe. Highly recommended if you want a quiet beach with both natural beauty and history around it.

There are places that shape who we become places that hold the essence of our beginnings our joy our courage and our peace. Trincomalee Beach is that place for me. It isn’t just a stretch of golden sand or another coastal escape it’s a piece of my identity woven into the sound of crashing waves and the scent of salt in the air. My love affair with the ocean began right here. I grew up in Trincomalee back when my father worked there and our home on Dyke Street was only a few steps from the beach. Every evening my friends and I would race to the shore our laughter blending with the waves as we built sandcastles collected shells and watched the horizon fade into a palette of tangerine and rose. Those years were pure magic the kind of simple sunlit happiness that stays with you forever. Even now when I return I can feel the echoes of that carefree child running barefoot through the same sand. During our recent weekend getaway I was reminded again why this beach feels so sacred. We set off at dawn on a boat ride to watch dolphins and though whales were out of season (they’re most visible between April and August) the dolphins were spectacular entire pods leaping through the waves beside us their reflections glimmering in the morning sun. It’s one of those moments that makes you pause and realize how extraordinary nature is when left untouched. After the ride we visited Ravanan Vettu a striking rock formation with mythological roots that only adds to the region’s mystique. Later that day we went snorkeling in the open sea and though I’ll admit I was nervous (being a fairly new swimmer) I couldn’t resist the pull of the ocean. Once underwater the fear melted away. The corals though bleached in some areas still held traces of color and life. Bright fish darted past and for a moment it felt like being inside another world silent boundless and achingly beautiful. Sadly seeing how coral bleaching pollution and rising temperatures have scarred this natural wonder reminded me how fragile it truly is. Even so Trincomalee has an unshakable spirit. At a second snorkeling spot the reefs were more vibrant glowing in rich hues of violet gold and coral pink proof that nature can heal if we let it. We didn’t see turtles that day but the sight of the thriving marine life filled me with hope. In the evenings the beach transformed into something even more magical soft winds the scent of salt and jasmine from nearby homes and the tranquil sound of waves touching the shore. If you visit early morning you’ll witness something unforgettable fishermen chanting as they pull in their nets at sunrise their silhouettes framed against a sky turning gold. It’s a scene that captures the soul of this place resilience rhythm and harmony with nature. Trincomalee Beach isn’t just beautiful it’s alive with stories of generations who lived beside it of travelers who fell in love with its calm and of the sea itself which continues to nurture heal and inspire. The people here are warm and genuine their hospitality reflecting the same serenity as the ocean. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down to breathe to listen. Whether you come for diving sunsets or silence this beach will leave a mark on your heart. For me it always feels like coming home a timeless reminder that the sea doesn’t just hold water it holds memories emotions and the purest form of peace one can ever know.

Very easy access - not even a long way to go because it is in the city center. Clearly - Most people in the city get together in the evenings and bathe and play. Struggles and Simple Beaches - Foreign hotels and luxury restaurants are as low as other beaches. Simple. Retreat Scene - City, Navy Vessels, Distance Costal Landscape Games, sports and bathing are very popular for school children and many locals.

Water is the most beautiful colour here of all beaches in Trincomalee. Also not crowded at all, mostly some locals around. However, the downside is there are not many bars/ restaurants close by and a lot of trash laying around.

Gokanna Viharaya (ගෝකන්න විහාරය) was an ancient Buddhist temple located in Trincomalee in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. The temple lies in the premises of Fort Fredrick close to the fort entrance. History... According to the references of Sri Lanka Archaeological Department, Trincomalee had been known as Gokanna in the ancient times. The Mahavamsa chronicle recounts that the Gokanna Vihara was built by King Mahasen in the 3rd century (275–301 AD) by destroying a Shiva temple that existed on the Swami Rock, where the Koneswaram Kovil stands today. It is said that in the reign of King Agbo V, the temple was modified by adding a preaching hall. A Tamil rock inscription which was found near the main entrance to the fort, states that the Hindu temple that existed at this place was destroyed by the Portuguese. The Hindu temple was later rebuilt in 1963. In correspondence from the Government Agent of Trincomalee, dated 8 October 1964, to the Secretary, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, it states that the Bodhi tree in front of the Koneswaram Kovil had been destroyed. Recently divers have discovered submerged Buddhist and Hindu sculptures in a nearby sea area and brought them ashore.

This is an ancient temple situated in a corner of the fort, surrounded by the ocean with a beautiful view. Temple is calm and quiet. There’s a view point on this end of the fort but it’s not accessible to the public.

We spent one night in Hotel blue waves, Staff were caring and friendly. Room was quite satisfactory for the price and food was great too. I lost the room key card by mistake but they handled the situation gracefully. I do recommend Hotel blue waves for a quiet and enjoyable stay

Probably one of the best place to stay a couple of day in Trincomalee. Rooms are very very nice the staff is really friendly and we had good breakfast and dinners. I strongly recommend this hotel we found by chance while we was looking for a restaurant. When we found it we left the place where we was to stay here. And ... since we thought to stay just a night in Trinco ... we decided to stay two nights :) Ps: not far from nice hindu temples (Sri Pathrakali and Kandaswamy) and the Fort Frederick and Koneswaram Kovil. Also bus station is not far. Per gli italiani: vista l'offerta bassa di Trinco, il Blue Waves è stata la svolta. Stanze pulite, cordialissimi, e ottimo cibo. Ci è piaciuto così tanto da lasciar stare sistemazioni in Nilaveli e Uppuveli. Ottima anche come posizione per visitare i fantastici templi hindu della zona ed il forte che a sua volta ospita un bellissimo tempio. In 3 minuti di tuk tuk si arriva alla stazione dei bus. Che altro dire: ottimo!

Happy Cream House has a decent selection of ice creams and snacks like samosas, but it’s nothing extraordinary. The staff are friendly enough, and service is okay—not too fast, not too slow. The biggest downside is the cleanliness; it definitely needs improvement. If you’re not too picky about hygiene, it’s an okay place to hang out with friends and family.

Yesterday I visited Pizza Hut Trincomalee yesterday for dinner with some foreign guests. We ordered pizza,  lava cakes andsoft drinks, including Coca-Cola and Sprite. However, they initially served only carbonated water instead of Sprite. When we brought this to their attention, the person in charge checked the machine and confirmed there was a connection issue. I witnessed it myself. They apologized and provided the correct drink afterward, which I appreciated as good customer service. However, I was disappointed with the overall experience. I don’t feel confident returning to this branch again. It’s the staff’s responsibility including the manager to ensure their equipment is functioning properly before serving customers. Food and drink safety should be a top priority. Unfortunately, I left unsatisfied..

I went in and the place was very full. Many people were ordering, but the guys at the counter were excellent at coordinating all the various operations. I want to make a special positive note for the assistant manager, who served me the best and was able to handle the situation wonderfully! This is especially impressive considering how many people were ordering, both those in line at the counter and those who had placed an order online. I had a great experience and the pizza was very good. I will definitely be back. Everyone did a great job!

Often I have habits to visit here mostly it was too busy. Nothing expect much in service because all are too busy but the pizza is delicious main goal is always in success.

In the days just after the Buddha attained enlightenment, two kind-hearted merchant brothers named Thapassu and Bhalluka traveled from India to trade across the seas. On their journey, they met the Buddha and offered him vilanda and honey. Moved by their devotion, the Buddha gave them a most precious gift—eight strands of his sacred hair. The brothers promised to protect and honor the relics. Their ship sailed across the ocean and arrived on the eastern shores of Sri Lanka, near a place we now call Kuchchaveli. There, they came to a peaceful coastal hill covered in white jasmine flowers and built a small shrine. This place is known today as Pichchamal Viharaya—the first spot where the relics touched Sri Lankan soil. As they continued their journey inland, they reached a quiet, golden beach near Pulmoddai. The brothers rested there and offered rice once more in gratitude. That beach became known as Arisimale, meaning “Mountain of Rice.” It is said the relics blessed the land with peace as they passed through. Finally, they climbed a rocky hill at Thiriyaya, where they planned to build a lasting home for the relics. But as they set the relic casket down to prepare a meal, something miraculous happened—the casket became too heavy to lift. The brothers realized the Buddha’s relics had chosen this place to rest forever.

This is a very important place for buddhist. The Princess Hemamala who brought tooth relic has been got down to Sri Lanka to this place. This place has been destroyed by the terrorists, but now a days it has been rebuilt. When you climb the steps to the pagoda, large area can be seen.

One of the most historical place in srilanka. The place where Prince Dantha and Princess Hemamala are believed to have landed in Sri Lanka while carrying the left tooth relic of lord Budda. The Google maps shows wrong way to the temple when travelling from kinniya. So rely on direction boards on side of the roads.

Lankapatuna Samuddragiri Viharaya ලංකාපටුන සමුද්‍රගිරි විහාරය, Another popular tourist destination in the Trincomalee District is Lankapatuna. Lankapatuna, the place where Prince Dantha and Princess Hemamala landed in Ceylon with the Sacred Tooth Relic, was used as a camp during the war. However, a small dagoba was built shortly after the end of the war in 2009 and the temple has recently become a popular pilgrimage site. 🧭Location Lankapatuna Vihara which is also known as the Samudragiri Vihara is in the Uppural Grama Niladhari Division of the Serunuwara Divisional Secretariat in the Eastern Province. This temple is built on a rocky outcrop like a high hill bordering the sea. Located at a distance of about 300 kilometres from Colombo, this historic site can be reached by taking a bus from Arippu Junction. It is said that Ven. Dambagassare Sri Sumedhankara Thera discovered this sacred place around 1940. After 1984, the area was under LTTE control and no one was allowed to visit Lankapatuna. After the end of the war, monasteries were once again built in the premises. 🏞History The Buddhist revival that took place with the arrival of Arhat Mahinda in the Third century BC also affected the Eastern Province. Brahmi inscriptions found at several places such as Tiriyaya, Seruwila, Ichchalanpattu and Nachchiyaramalai indicate that Buddhism was prevalent in the area at that time. It is certain that Lankapatuna was one of the areas where Buddhism was established at the time. Prince Dantha, the son of King Udeni and Princess Hemamala, the daughter of King Guhasiva, boarded a ship and arrived in Ceylon hiding the Sacred Tooth Relic. This incident is mentioned in books such as Datha Vamsa, Dalada Siritha and Mahavamsa. The Mahavamsa states that they landed in Ceylon from Lankapatuna, where there was a famous port at that time. The Mahavamsa also states that they boarded the ship from Tamralipta and suffered immensely due to the storm in the high seas. However, they eventually arrived in the country and at that time there was a devalaya at Lankapatuna. Later, they had taken the Tooth Relic to the Meghagiri temple near Anuradhapura and then to Anuradhapura, which was the capital at that time. 🏯🌉🌅Beautiful view The remains of an ancient dagoba can also be seen at Lankapatuna. The rest of the dagoba have been destroyed by treasure hunters. The mortar used to plaster the remains of the dagoba is still well preserved. Remains of three chambers have also been found inside the dagoba, which was destroyed by treasure hunters. It is speculated that there may have been nine chambers in it as in many other dagobas. It is clear that the construction technology belonging to the Anuradhapura period was used to build this dagoba. After the archeological excavations, part of the dagoba has been preserved. Devotees can reach the top of the rock on which the said dagoba is located, by climbing the stairs. There is also a beautiful view of the ocean on the foothills. Ancient Seruwila Dagaba can also be seen from the mainland. The small dagoba on the recently built arches at the site of the old dagoba does not seem to match the antiquity at the premises. Near the courtyard is a recently built shrine room and a standing Buddha statue. Below the rock where the dagoba is located, there is a cave and it is believed to have been used by Bhikkhus who practised meditation. The cave is about four feet wide and about 20 feet deep. There is a pond built at the foot of the rock for the benefit of the monks who lived in the temple. The pond is 188 feet long and 76 feet wide.

Following the visit to Hoods Tower Naval Base, we were escorted to the jetty bellow. Cruised the Habour in a big Troller boat modified by the Navy for this purpose. Trinco Harbour (Koddiyar bay) is one of the finest, largest natural deep water Harbour‘s in the world. There had been many wars throughout history by Portuguese, Dutch, French and British due to its strategic location. In 1942 Trinco Habour was attacked by the Japanese Air Force sinking 3 British ships of the Royal Navy.

Trincomalee Harbour is a big natural seaport of Srilanka on the Indian Ocean. The harbour is surrounded by mountains. Since the harbour is surrounded by mountains the port will not be visible from Indian Ocean. The port is at Northeastern side of Srilanka. A big Dutch Fort is just adjacent to the port.

I had an amazing diving experience here, probably the best ever! I did a wreck dive and went to navy island, both dives were incredibly beautiful. Sam is very nice and professional. I felt very safe with him. He took such nice photos as well I‘m so glad I did my dives here. If I were to come back to Trincomalee I would definitely dive here again. I went diving here for five days in a row, and I would certainly recommend this scuba center to anyone going for fun dives are doing courses. The owner Sam and the other divemaster, Buddi, always took great care of me, making sure I always felt safe. We went for a different dive site every single time and I got to see so many different sea creatures. The equipment I rented was also very good! When you come here, everything is taken care of, no need to stress if you are out of practice! Oh, and Nilu, Sam's wife, is an excellent cook, which is great after coming back from a dive! The whole family is involved in the business and you will feel like part of the family soon enough ❤️

I did Discover Scuba Diving on 12th August 2025 with these people. Had one dive of 38 minutes at the navy island site while other institutions only take you 15 to 20 mins dives. The divemaster Buddi was thoroughly experienced and the trainer divers were helpful. Their equipments were unto standards and new. I highly recommend this place

Most Beautiful Nature’s Rock Fissure! According to Mythological (Some characters existence are proven by Archeologists too) history said to be rock Split due to an Anger of 10,000 yrs old King Ravanan & Rock area is also referred as Dhakshin Kailash ( Southern Himalaya) where he used to do Thabas ( Devine Meditation). Presently used as a Romantic spot for Lovers and failed Lovers are said to have taken deep leaps as a spot to suicide! Hence certain area of this rocky areas is named by local tourists as “Lovers Leap”

Actually I did not go to this place, I saw it when I was at the Hindu temple, just in front of it. I'm gemeral: nice place. Nice views and beautiful surroundings. A nice Hindu temple worth it to visit (20 ruppes the entrance that you pay when you go out). Calm place as well. We went in midday time and the floor was burning (you enter with no shoes), so just saying-but is not the end hahaha As well, there are different stores on the way where you can treat yourself good with some juices, sweets, snacks or items. Some pictures from some juice on the way to the temple and in the temple. Dutch Bay reccomended as well!

A beautiful natural site near the famous Koneshwaram kovil in Trincomalee. This place has got a bad reputation by several suicides and suicide attempts. Indeed this place has got its name after a daughter of a Dutch commander committed suicide by jumping off the cliff.

Lover’s Leap Trincomalee There is a love story which says that a girl named Francina van Reed jumped from the top of the rock due to a broken relationship with a Dutch Officer. She was the daughter of a Holland civil service officer and had jumped off the rock when the ship carrying her former lover passed beyond the horizon.

Located in the vicinity of the Koneswaram Kovil, this place is related to a tragic story that took place during the Dutch Reign.

Beautiful long narrow strip of white sand that stretches for miles with a lush back drop of Palmyra trees. At our time of visiting this beach – the more northern end of the beach – it was very quiet, but we imagine that in peak season that it could get very crowded as many big resorts open straight out onto the beach. The sea is stunning and very warm, but there is a bit of an under current in the wash in places to be wary of if you are not a confident swimmer. There are many dogs along the beach and several with ticks and/or fleas, but most generally leave you alone – like most of the dogs around the island. Our only criticism – and what a lot of online sites and the gram don’t show – is the amount of washed up litter and waste, it’s really quite bad in parts. It would be good to see the government make the local beach front resorts pay in together for mechanical beach cleaning throughout the year. Other than that, it is a banging beach to have a swim at! Just watch out for those occasional sand fleas, they can give you a whoooopa of a bite – worse than a mozzy! Update: having visited several beaches in the northeast and in the south of Sri Lanka, our comments about dogs, sand fleas, strong under or cross currents in the sea, the mass of general waste/litter, and in some places, raw sewage, etc, is pretty much the same at many beaches. Of course, there is probably some beaches that are more pristine than others elsewhere around the island, but we are only providing comment on the beaches we have visited and/or seen. This is something that is generally not shown on Instagram reels or any other social or online platforms – makes it all somewhat a bit fake really. Still pretty beaches though! Well, it’s a beach With cafes and dive shops. But with waves and not very clean. Stray dogs around , but that’s a plus for me) I witnessed an interesting tradition- when fishermen gathered together and divided the catch. That was the most memorable part. We also had a few whale tours, they start at this beach as well

Another beautiful beach in Trincomalee 🌴⛱️. Tourist attraction is a bit higher than other surrounding beaches, as I noticed 😉. Calm and quiet place. If someone needs staying calm , avoid unnecessary crowds, This is the best beach place in Trincooo. There's no secure vehicle park here as my understanding🤔. The entrance is free.

The water is nice and the beach could be an absolute paradise, if there wasn’t so much litter flying around. Plus there seems to be a constant smell of burnt rubbish in the area. What a shame.

Uppuveli Beach offers an amazing sea view, especially during the off-season when it's less crowded. It's a peaceful spot, perfect for enjoying time with friends. There are no lifeguards on duty and water is not clear as other beaches in Trinco ( Nilaveli, Marble, Town beach). The beach is conveniently close to the town and has many hotels nearby, making it easy to find accommodation. The clear waters and calm atmosphere make it a great place to relax and unwind.

The best beach in Trincomalee. Long, wide, beautiful. Located in the bay. Pleasant fine sand, comfortable entry, slowly deepens. Great for kids. The best sunrises are perfectly visible from it at 5:55. On the beach there are sun loungers, showers, cafes, snorkeling and diving stations. From here you can go on an excursion to whales and dolphins. The best time is from 6:00 to 9:00, from 15:30 to 18:00. Enjoy life!

Went for a couple of dives with Delphine and had an incredible time - equipment was taken care of and fitted well, the briefing and communication was good, and the dive sites were beautiful!! We saw lots of beautiful marine life & coral and enjoyed watermelon in between. I hope to come back soon!

We had an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime diving experience with Blue Whale Snorkeling Diving Centre Trincomalee. We went to pigeon island by boat and the whole crew was so friendly helping us to get ready for our first dive ever. The instructor explained to us the most important things to know and calmed us down when we needed it. (Thank you!!!) He was 100% competent in what he was doing and it was easy to trust him. The dive was just amazing and something we will never forget. It’s a whole different world down there you have to see for yourself. It was probably the highlight of our whole Sri Lanka Trip :)

Had the most amazing swim with the dolphins courtesy Endeshan Fernando and crew! Endeshan told us that we would be going in the opposite direction of all the other boats for the best experience and he completely delivered on his word. We first saw a giant manta ray just a few feet from our boat and kept going further till the point where we were surrounded by dolphins. Jumped in the water and got to swim above 20-30 dolphins which was absolutely surreal. The trip is about 5-6 hours and on the way back we stopped by coral island for about an hour and then web to turtle island for another 45 minutes. Will definitely come back to see the whales. Thank you Endeshan !
