Jambi in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Jambi, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Jambi offers a quieter, less commercialized side of Sumatra, with the broad Batanghari River running through the city as its main backdrop. Nearby, the Muaro Jambi temple complex—one of Indonesia’s largest ancient Buddhist sites—draws visitors interested in history and archaeology. In town, the Gentala Arasy Bridge and its riverside area provide pleasant evening walks and city views, while markets and food stalls showcase local Malay-Indonesian dishes. Jambi also serves as a practical base for exploring the surrounding lowland forests and national parks of the province.
With favorites like Simon & Sons Coffee And Bakery, Masjid Agung Al Falah Kota Jambi, and Restoran Internasional, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Pondok Pindang Sarinande and Restoran Internasional so you can get the best taste of Jambi while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The Monument of Keris Siginjai in Jambi has quickly become an iconic landmark, boasting a rich history and cultural significance. Formerly known as Tugu Monas, it was transformed into the Keris Siginjai Monument to better represent Jambi city. The monument is located in a well-designed public park where visitors can enjoy various sports activities provided by the government.
One of the monuments that became the icon of the city of Jambi, with its shapes and ornaments that describe the history and characteristics of the city of Jambi. This keris-shaped monument is located in the government office area. For drone pilots based on DJI products, there must be a special permit to be able to fly their drones in this area because this area is included in the red zone to flying. This area is now a multifunctional area, a place to relax, exercise, culinary tourism, CFD on Sunday mornings, and even CFN on saturday night.
Umar A — Google review
Great view at night and there are food stalls along the road.
Eka R — Google review
It's a good place to spend night with friends or family. We can see the monument is very beautiful with lights at night and it's near of Jomblo Park. There're so many kind of food like tekwan, pangsit, sate padang, angkringan, etc.
Hafilda — Google review
Situated at the center of Jambi municipality, surrounded by government office with some beautifications to make the monument good looking. There is Taman Jomblo nearby built with pedestrian access, benches and some manual gym sport facilities. Good for relax a while in the Taman/garden before continuing your travel or just wasting your weekend while the road closed from vehicles movements.
Putra N — Google review
Great atmosphere at night. Plenty of street food to choose from.
Asad M — Google review
This place used to have name Tugu Monas, copying Monad in Jakarta . But 2 years ago to represent Jambi city more. The government changed it into Tugu Keris Siginjai, Keris Siginjai is Jambinese traditional knife. Before this place was not really well managed, but our mayor designed it for public park.we can do excited by using some sport tools that government provide there. People start to come for spending time with their families. The activities will start to be crowded when it's around 5 pm. Many foods seller here. There are also some amusement park for kids. On Sunday there is always morning exercise led by the exercise, many people com to join the exercise. The road usually will be closed around that time.

Masjid Agung Al Falah Kota Jambi, also known as 'Mesjid Seribu Tiang' or 'A thousand Pillar Mosque,' is a popular tourist attraction in Jambi city. The mosque, located on Sultan Thaha's palace grounds near the Angso Duo Market, is famous for its beautiful architecture and cleanliness. With its unique wall-less concept, the mosque provides a cool breeze even in hot weather.
An iconic masjid in Jambi with unique architecture. A must-visit when in the city!

Very serene and peaceful mosque.

Great mosque nice architecture, very clean as well definitely must visit place in Jambi
Ferry B — Google review
Beautiful mosque, too bad it was not well-maintained. During my prayer, I saw a cat taken a pee on one of the pillar. I do hope the local government have a serious budget calculation to bring this mosque back to glory.
Reyga R — Google review
Beautiful mosque especially the night view! It has hundred white and bronze poles, also hundred lamps! The mosque is quite big, maybe the biggest in Jambi city. It is really easy to access (at the main road). There is a 'lake' around the mosque, thus it has many bridge entrances. However, only three entrances that were not locked. The parking area is very muddy when the rain comes.
Istiqomah N — Google review
Also known as "Mesjid SeribuTiang" or "A thousand Pillar Mosque" a religious place for moeslem people to pray. There are several bench surounded by trees great place to spend afternoon with family.
Fitriangrm ( — Google review
Haven't had time to pray here. At that time, there was a short time because I had to catch a flight schedule to Jakarta. So, it's just taking pictures and enjoying the beauty of the mosque from the outside. The nickname of the mosque of 1000 poles is very suitable even though the number is only 256 pieces. The cleanliness of the mosque is maintained well like a large provincial mosque. The location of the mosque was erected on Sultan Thaha's palace grounds, adjacent to the Angso Duo Market. It looks like the mosque was crowded at the time of prayer.

As a first-timer visitor, this masjid is really beautiful. The wall-less concept provides breeze cool air even when the outside temperature are really hot.

Sultan Thaha Airport

Domestic airport
Airport
Sultan Thaha Airport, situated approximately 6 km southeast of Jambi, is a relatively small yet modern airport with only two gates catering to domestic flights. Despite its size, the airport boasts a clean and stylish design, offering amenities such as spacious boarding areas, free Wi-Fi, and a rest area with nap chairs and power chargers. Additionally, the airport features a large parking area and convenient access to taxi and car rental services.
This airport not too big but clean and comfy. We can see tourism board on the wall in corridor. Has large parking area, and so many spot instragamable. Near to the city, so we can go around the city in only one day trip.
Lia I — Google review
This airport were so lacking, it doesn’t have many options for food, the waiting room uses synthetic grass but it looks really bad because there are lots of bald spot, it did have smoking room for the smokers out there. But the bathroom was dirty, the prayer room were small, charging station was for show, wifi was slow af. The good thing is it has a good mosque outside that is not far from the main building, and it has a spacious parking lot.
Muhammad T — Google review
Like airports in other regions in Indonesia, the check-in process was standard. The airport was very quiet for 12 noon, with few airline slots. The airport is relatively new and well-maintained. There's only one minimarket (Alfamart) in the waiting area.
Ria R — Google review
When I arrive here, people (probably VIPs (or wannabe's), seems like a lot of them here at Jambi) parked their cars at pickup zone, holding traffic to almost a complete stop. Trouble at parking gate making it worst. Aviation security was absent. Else, just a basic airport. Poor management!
Anofan N — Google review
Jambi domestic airport without good facilities. Air-conditioning is for displaying, not ON at all. Less fresh air circulation. Toilets are less maintenance. A lot of things need improvement.
Sen S — Google review
Toilet cleanliness are good. Hope it will be maintained constantly as the time flies. Wifi superb fast and easy to connect even need to pass some ads. Need improvement in the following : 1. Access road to airport (enlarge the scale) 2. International route (Uk maybe) 3. PLAYGROUND area
Hazry H — Google review
Very nice and clean, maybe because it is new. It is bigger and much better compared to Jambi's old Airport. Varies of shops available. Pempek shop available near drop off area before departure hall. ATM center in the middle. Now the middle outdoor area still under construction, sure it will be more beautiful when its done.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Jembatan Gentala Arasy, also known as Gentala Arasy Bridge, is a popular tourist attraction in Jambi City. This curved pedestrian bridge spans about 503 meters and features an 80-meter tower with Islamic-style architecture at one end. Built in 2012 and inaugurated by the Vice President of Indonesia at that time, it has become a landmark of Jambi province.
An iconic bridge and attraction in Jambi. Great spot for exercise and sightseeing, especially with the night lights
KT S — Google review
Gentala Arasy Bridge offers a stunning view, especially in the late afternoon as Maghrib approaches. We relaxed here while enjoying grilled corn and sipping fresh sugarcane juice. The atmosphere is calm, the breeze from the river refreshing, and the golden hour lighting makes the scenery even more magical. This spot is perfect for winding down after a long day, whether you’re a local or just passing through Jambi. A must-visit for anyone who loves peaceful river views and simple street snacks.
Angga B — Google review
I love this place, especially in the night days. The bridge is so beautiful with the light animation. Road along bridge was pretty good and clean. Recommended to take photos with your friends or beloved family.

Nice for take a while resting with a view batanghari river. Some facilities need to be repaired
Ardi S — Google review
This bridge is specifically for pedestrians, it cannot be passed by motorized vehicles, because it is not only functioned as a pedestrian bridge, but also as a tourist attraction. The shape is curved like the letter S, and in another part there is the Gentala Arasy Museum. A good time to visit here is in the afternoon, of course to see the sunset, to be honest it's so nice, especially at night, we can see the beauty of this bridge because there are lights that highlight the bridge poles that rise upwards, beautiful!
Umar A — Google review
GENTALA ARASY GEnah TAnah LAhir AbdurRAhman SaYoeti Means Born Land Of Mr. Abdurrahman Sayoeti. Governor of Jambi Province since 1989 until 1999. This bridge dedicated for him. Seems like a pedestrian. You can walk or ride a bike through the bridge. No motor vehicle allowed. Very compatible for a family photos. Architecture it self very good for photos. But, since it is a suspension bridge, you can feel the smooth shaking while walking on the bridge. On night they put a colorful lamp. Maybe more attractive.
Mbak I — Google review
Gentala Arasy Bridge is a landmark of Jambi province and one of the must-visit locations when coming to Jambi City This bridge is only for pedestrians, it will be very good if visited at night because there are many lights that make the scenery very beautiful If you visit here in the afternoon and sunny then a hat is an item that you must bring because it is very hot here Around the bridge there are also many vendors selling food and drinks so it is perfect for relaxing with friends and family

Gentala Arasy Tower is a captivating landmark in Jambi, offering visitors a unique blend of cultural and scenic experiences. This ornate tower, designed in mosque style and adorned with a clock, provides stunning views of the Batanghari River. Although the museum within is currently closed due to pandemic restrictions, the surrounding park remains lively with local street snacks and fun activities for kids like electric car rentals.
One of Jambi Icon it has a mini stage / theater a museum (sadly in this pandemic, the museum is closed) a park that has local street snacks and kids toys rental (electric car, bicycle, mini go round) but, it is the view on top Batanghari river that you should enjoy, strolling with your love one just enjoying the view and the wind blow, can help to reduce stress from working all days😊

But i will really recommend the fish, especially patin. They also served them in a wide range of flavor : bumbu kacang, tempoyak, pindang, etc. Tempoyak is the unique one. A sauce made from fermented durian mixed with chillies. Taste really different from other things, the sweetness of durian and spiciness of chilli, really appetizing. Tempoyak Ikan Gabus and Pindang Ikan Patin are the best!!! The servers are very kind and helpful. The price are also worth the taste.

Restaurant International Is one of the Chinese food in Jambi City. Located in the business area district in Jambi amongst the rows of the shopping complex. Has parking space in front of the restaurant The premises is not so big but looks nice and clean. Normally this restaurant used for the family gathering or small party but they always prepare some spaces for public or for impromptu customers. Menu in this restaurant is vari from the seafood dishes to another traditional Chinese food. So you have no worry to find your favorite food. What I like in this restaurant we can request for the vegetarian menu even though most of the menu is using meats. For sure they wash them clean or use other cooking tools to prepare the vegetarian one. I recommend eating in this restaurant if on one occasion you come to Jambi city for a holiday or business trip.
Anthony B — Google review
An old and historic restaurant. Serves most of Hakka dishes. Located in the heart of Jambi old town (pasar). Favorite menu are, 1. Bun pork leg. 2. Fried fish chips in sweet and sour sauce. 3. Bun fish belly coocked with black mushroom. Though the restaurant is old but price could consider premium with Jambi city standard. But Restaurant International is a must try restaurant and will be unforgettable.

It’s quite hard to find such cafe in Jambi. Their salmon, and chicken basil is recommended. The price is quite pricey compared to any other restaurants in Jambi, but if you compare with Jakarta’s restaurants price, it’s cheaper.
