Nagoya Castle, originally built in the 17th century and reconstructed in 1959, offers a glimpse into Japan's history during the Edo Period. The castle features artifacts, costumes, weaponry, and artwork that tell the story of ancient Japan. One of its famous features is the shachi-hoko, a creature with the head of a tiger and body of a fish. Surrounding the castle is Ninomaru-en garden known for its picturesque teahouses.
Visiting Nagoya Castle was a delightful experience. The grand architecture and the iconic golden shachihoko shining atop the roof were truly impressive. The grounds were spacious and beautifully maintained, perfect for a relaxing walk, and the reconstructed Honmaru Palace showcased stunning craftsmanship and rich history. Although the main keep (tenshukaku) is currently closed, there’s still plenty to see and enjoy, from well-curated exhibits to helpful multilingual guides. It’s a must-visit spot that beautifully blends cultural depth with visual charm.
Taeho K — Google review
The castle, or rather part of it, is obviously very beautiful, but unfortunately the main building, i.e. the actual castle, is not open to visitors. Renovation work has been ongoing since 2018, as the castle was seriously damaged during an earthquake. Only the gardens are open to visitors, something like the outer bailey, i.e., the representative rooms where you can admire the craftsmanship of Japanese renovations. The castle was completely destroyed during World War II, with only the foundations surviving, so what we visit is a magnificent reconstruction. Overall, it is worth visiting this place. It may not be as spectacular as other castles, such as those in Osaka or Kyoto, but it is worth spending an hour visiting this site. Important information: you visit the castle along a set route, wearing slippers. I recommend leaving your bags in the cloakroom, otherwise you will have to carry them in front of you. We visited on a very rainy day, and despite this, the queue was very long. The ticket price is 500 yen, so it is worth arriving early and buying a ticket. People with disabilities, e.g., in wheelchairs, will not be able to see the exhibition, as it is narrow, the route has many turns and narrow turns, and the entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
Kamil W — Google review
Rebuild, not original. But used high quality materials. Entrance was ¥500 and completely wasted of money. I thought we get to see the actual inside castle. But not, Stay outside and take the photo with actual castle. Spend roughly an hour here. If you happened to go to Osaka castle, you can totally skip this one. Can call this is a mini version of Osaka.
William L — Google review
Affordable ¥500 entrance for adults. I believe the castle is closing soon for extensive restorations, that seem needed. During my visit in June of 2025 you can already spot construction vehicles and work sites beginning. The gift shops are worth visiting and have some unique and quality items. Drink machines can be found conveniently throughout the grounds. After the main entrance connected to the bathrooms and drink machines there is a nice stamp to be collected.
M M — Google review
Admission is 500 yen. There are three lines for the tickets. Two are cash only, and one accepts cards. The main castle is closed but you can walk through the reconstructed Hommaru Palace… it is very beautiful!
Yereen O — Google review
Dont be discouraged by the ongoing renovation. The castle still worth to visit. You still can enjoy the castle premises or the estate. Worth to mention, while I was there, there are several ninja on several spot, that can be asked to be photographed with. Thank you for this. I enjoyed my visit.
Mario K — Google review
Admission to the park is free while visiting the (outside of the closed) main castle + Honmaru Palace is 500 yen. The Honmaru Palace takes around 20mins to walk around and you will see where the lords and their retainers used to stay or hold banquets. Quite impressive given it was built in the 1600s. However, if your goal is to take a picture of the Nagoya castle, walk the other way round the outside and you will still be able to see the back of the castle without paying. Do also note that it’s quite a long walk from the Nagoyajo metro exit to the castle.
Meeeliaaa — Google review
The castle is easy to access and will cost you 500 yen to enter. Sadly you cannot enter the castle as there has been damage to the structure due to earthquake damage. T HR w gardens around the castle are green and lush. Some good photos can be taken from many good vantage points.

The Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, also known as the Nagoya TV Tower, is a prominent 180-meter steel structure in Nagoya's Hisaya Odori Park. It boasts two observation decks and a local produce market. Completed in 1954, it predates Tokyo Tower and offers stunning views of Nagoya and neighboring Hisaya-odori Park from its 100-meter-high observation deck.
I visited Chubu Electric Power MIRAI Tower on a public holiday, and it was an amazing experience. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, with beautiful surroundings and modern architecture. The view from the tower was stunning, especially during sunset. The area around the tower is clean, well-maintained, and perfect for taking photos. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Nagoya. It’s a great spot to hang out with friends or family and enjoy the cityscape.
Billal H — Google review
The view from Forre is incredible and very beautiful. The tower is beautiful during the day, where you will see it reflected in an artificial lake in front of you. At night, the tower is even more beautiful because it is illuminated. You can buy some souvenirs of the city in the same building next door. You will also find a cafe, and right at the entrance you will find some coffees and a trailer with a wide variety of drinks and snacks. There is also a park for you to walk right in front of the tower, and if you are lucky, you can participate in an event. At night, the city is well seen and lively.
Claudia M — Google review
The admission fee for Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER is ¥1,300 for adults and ¥800 for elementary school children. From the observation deck, you can enjoy panoramic views of Nagoya, and it’s especially worth visiting on a clear day. There’s also a souvenir coin machine where you can stamp your own name, or you can purchase it as a keepsake or gift.

Located at Hisaya Odori Park, Sakae, Nagoya, Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, originally known as Nagoya TV Tower, is a notable 180-meter steel building. As the first consolidated radio tower in Japan, it was finished in 1954 and has since come to represent the city's post-war rebirth. Offering expansive views of Nagoya's metropolis and far-off mountains, the tower has two observation decks: the inside Sky Deck at 90 meters and the outdoor Sky Balcony at 100 meters. In 2020, it underwent a significant refurbishment that improved its seismic strength and added contemporary conveniences, such as The Tower Hotel Nagoya, which is located on the fourth and fifth floors. At night, the tower is illuminated with dynamic LED lights, producing a stunning display that matches the city’s skyline.

Oasis 21 is a unique oval-shaped complex in Nagoya, featuring a glass ceiling and housing various retail shops, eateries, and a bus terminal. The highlight of this shopping center is its incredible rooftop garden designed like an oval UFO, offering stunning views of Nagoya and the iconic Nagoya TV Tower. The rooftop plaza features a large pond that cools the shopping center below and provides picturesque cityscapes, especially at night.
Stunning structure. We figured it out just on our last day that you can walk up on to this stunning roof top terrace. Beautiful at night with the lighting and illuminated water flow. Great eateries in the building as well. For more hidden gems in Japan and around the world, catch our IG: @the_travelling_uncles

We stopped by for dinner during our overnight layover in Nagoya. One of the top attractions here was this plaza. It was pretty at night and felt very safe (as in the rest of Japan). Most stores and a lot of the restaurants were closed by 9 p.m.

famous tourist spot in Nagoya, there telecomunication tower and roof top pool. in the evening will be good time to see surrounding area, the light, the pool and have the breeze. the pool is the top of the doom. the the water is flowing. there are many resto and shop below the doom. you can take the elevator or stair to go up to rooftop.

A very uniquely designed shopping centre. Only a single level but it host a ghibli and Harry potter and a gashapon store. Visit during dawn or evening for the night views, u can even climb onto the transparent roof( with water) for an interesting experience. For an even better view , go to level 10 of the arts building next door. But the reflective windows makes it difficult for any photography

Oasis 21 is located right next to Mirai Tower, with convenient access by both bus and train. There are several nice photo spots, including one with the Nagoya city sign. Downstairs, you’ll find various shops — including gachapon (capsule toy) machines, Harry Potter merchandise, and many others. You can take the elevator up to the rooftop for a great view overlooking Mirai Tower. It’s a beautiful spot to visit.

Its a very nice attraction. The Sky Walk is stunning and worth the visit. The surrounding shopping is first rate with everything from international restaurants to fashion. From Mc Donald's to Louie Vitton. This place has everything you will need for a casual weekend stroll. I will come back!

I love this bus station. The design of the rooftop pool is amazing especially at night with a view of the tower. There are so many amazing shops, cafes, and restaurants on the lower level with so much to offer while you're waiting for a bus or a train. One night we came and there was a musician playing flute music that was amplified within the space for a lovely atmosphere. This was my first time in Nagoya and I would come again just to spend time here.

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Osu Kannon is a stunning Buddhist temple situated at the end of Osu Shopping Arcade in downtown Nagoya. Although its buildings are modern due to being rebuilt after destruction in 1945, it still holds historical significance as it was originally constructed in 1333 and relocated to its current location in 1612. The temple is dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist Goddess of mercy and compassion.
I went here a few times during golden week. Definitely crowded, but manageable. You can try to go very early or much later in the day to avoid crowds. I love the temple and all the shopping here. At the temple, be sure to buy some incense and charms. Donate coins and pray as well if you feel inclined. Most things around here open at 10am. There's a cool morning antique market that happens once a month and we were able to explore that and haggle a bit! 🍀 I recommend the taiyaki place "Gin no An" and the takoyaki place right next to it (and the odango mochi place next to that!) 😉 Don't forget to explore the side streets, never know what you'll find.
Clover J — Google review
Osu Kannon Shrine is a peaceful gem nestled in the heart of Nagoya’s vibrant Osu shopping district. With its striking red architecture and massive paper lantern, the shrine instantly invites curiosity and calm. Despite being surrounded by bustling shops and modern life, the moment you step onto its grounds, there’s a shift — a quiet, almost sacred stillness. Locals come to pray, offer coins, and draw omikuji (fortunes), while visitors often find themselves lingering longer than planned, soaking in the serene atmosphere. Pigeons flutter around the stone steps, and the scent of incense drifts through the air. Osu Kannon isn’t just a place to visit — it’s a place to pause, reflect, and feel connected to Nagoya’s spiritual roots.
CVM T — Google review
Just take the train to Osu Kannon Station and it will only be few minutes walk to the place with it sit right next to the osu kanon shopping street. The place is not really crowded and can be a good choice for a quick stop by to enjoy.
Oui O — Google review
The place is nice, but it was really crowded. There were many pigeons, and while the nature was beautiful, there was quite a bit of droppings that made it a bit dirty. But it's okay — overall, it's still a great place.

Osu Kannon (Kitanosan Shinpuku-ji Hoshoin) @ Nagoya ⛩️📿🇯🇵 🗓️ Visited: 17 April, around noon 🚶‍♂️ Just a short walk from Osu Park and Osu Shopping Street A serene and spiritual temple nestled right next to the vibrant Osu Shopping District. As always, we stopped to pray for good fortune, wealth, and a safe journey. 🙏 The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, a peaceful contrast to the busy arcades nearby. We drew an omikuji (fortune slip) and received a chū-jō-kichi—a moderately good blessing from Kannon-sama, reassuring us that our trip would go smoothly. It gave us a comforting sense of clarity and peace. To carry the blessings with us, we also bought a protective omamori (amulet) for good luck and prosperity. 🍀✨ 🧘‍♀️ Highly recommended for a moment of reflection and spiritual grounding—especially if you’re already exploring the Osu area.

I didn't planned to go. But Shoutengai strees made me get there easily. 6/28/2025 they have frea market. Nagoya kinds. Also enjoy nearby street is good things to do. I bought 200yen candle to put.
Michiko I — Google review
Another site to visit in Nagoya is this Buddhist Temple adjacent to the Osu Shopping District. We went there late in the afternoon. The pigeons that flock that place had already gone to roost for the evening. There were only a few devotees who lingered to pray. We took some photos of the temple before leaving the area.
Travel T — Google review
The Temple is famous and seems to have numerous worshippers who would stop over for short-time worship. The Temple is essentially a rebuilt after the 2nd World War; thus, unlike most of the temples in Kyoto, the Temple's worshippers may not feel the classic style or sentiment from the Temple itself. The Temple allows visitors to donate 50 Yen to buy pigeon food and feed the pigeons in the courtyard. But worshippers or visitors should be cautious for large number of pigeons may fly around the pigeon feeder or visitor for the food immediately. The Temple is free for access and for toilets, but it does not allow photo taking aiming at inside worship hall.

Yuri Jazz & Coffee is a cozy cafe that offers not only delicious coffee and food but also a great selection of jazz music. The place has a relaxing vibe, making it perfect for enjoying some quality time alone or with friends. Despite minor criticisms about the temperature and ambiance, visitors appreciate the rare experience of enjoying jazz music while sipping on superb coffee. The friendly staff and generous servings add to the homey atmosphere, making it a spot worth revisiting.
I went alone. The place was really nice and had a relaxing vibe to it. It's rare to see places like this in my city! Nevertheless, I had a fun time with my coffee. Sadly, because I went at night, there were no more cakes. Instead, I got a cheese and crackers set. The coffee was really nice, and the servings of the plates are generous! Definitely had a homey vibe! Would go again.

A small restaurant with great style and atmosphere. There is no English menu, but one of the young staff members speaks English. The curry rice is very delicious and quite large; people with smaller appetites might not be able to finish it.

Ordered the rum cake and Brooklyn beer. Beer is smooth. But the rum cake I’m not sure if it should like hard like a rock. The plate where the cake is, is so cold. It’s like just out from the fridge. If just to rate the rum cake, I’ll give 1star. The ambience is nice.

Magic from the entrance to all of the cute stuffs inspired by Alice in wonderland theme. Something might a bit pricey but worth to visit.

The girls working there really have an attitude problem. And whenever they saw foreigners, they followed a couple steps behind them and made sure they didn’t steal anything. They also didn’t let anyone take any photos of anything the entire time. That’s fine. It is what it is. But what sucks the most is all of the merch looks cheap and of poor quality while being overpriced. I’ve seen that locals have noticed deteriorating quality over time.
F F — Google review
I used to love Alice on Wednesday, but I went back in summer of 2024 and I notice the product quality has really dwindled. Bought this pair of earrings (¥800) and I’ve only worn it three or four times, and the “gold” plating has already worn off. Maybe it’s due to the excessive sweat given the summer heat, but needless to say product quality control should probably aim for more than just four wears. Quite disappointing.

Chicken restaurant
Torikai Nagoya Cochin is a popular dining spot located near Nagoya Castle, offering a pleasant experience with friendly and attentive staff. Guests receive complimentary tea and wet towels, and there's a convenient basket to store belongings under the table. While some may not favor the open kitchen due to odors and cleanliness concerns, the food is delicious and promptly served even during busy times. The portions are just right, making it an ideal stop for lunch or dinner after exploring Nagoya Castle.
We tried okayodon for the first time in Nagoya, and it was absolutely delicious. The yuzu powder added a refreshing citrus kick that elevated the dish even further. The steamed chicken was also excellent, with a pleasantly charred flavor that complemented its tenderness perfectly.

We found this place while looking for a lunch place after visiting the Nagoya castle. All the staffs were friendly and attentive. We got free tea (hot or iced) and a wet towel which is lovely. We love that they had a basket where you could put your belongings under the table. I am not a big fan of the fact they had an open kitchen because oil and smell traveled and their kitchen did not look so clean but the food was good and served quite quickly despite that the place was full at the time. The portion was also perfect for us. :)

Located in Nagoya, the Hilton Hotel offers a variety of dining options, including the renowned Japanese restaurant GENJI. The restaurant boasts an authentic Japanese design and serves traditional cuisine with a touch of elegance. Inspired by the famous tale of Genji, the entrance hall is adorned with glass decorations. Guests can enjoy Japanese delicacies from the menu or watch as tempura and teppanyaki are prepared at individual counters.
The best Teppanyaki experience we’ve ever had! We had one of their sets and it was all delicious, end to end. The quality of the beef was just excellent - I don’t think it was A5 we had, but it tasted buttery and had so much of that rich beefy flavor all the same. The chef also used the beef fat to fry up the vegetables, adding another layer of flavor to the dish. What was unique was he got us to sandwich the vegetables in between slices of bread that had gone on the grill too, “like Japanese taco!” he excitedly told us. Loved the experience!
Celest W — Google review
This place was as you would expect from a teppanyaki restaurant at a nice hotel. Food was ok, meat was good and service is fair for the price you pay. The chef was nice.

We took the 21000 menu and it was extremely short. The meat was good but for 100g I consider the restaurant overpriced. I was expecting a much better Tepanyaki considering it was in a hotel like Hilton.

Yoyo L — Google review
Last September our family trip from Seoul, Korea in 2024, we had the pleasure of dining at Genji, an exceptional Japanese restaurant located inside the Nagoya Hilton. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm and elegant atmosphere, seamlessly blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern sophistication. Led by the talented **Chef Masashi Hisada**, Genji delivers an authentic and refined Japanese dining experience. We opted for the omakase sushi platter, which showcased the freshest seasonal seafood, each piece carefully crafted and bursting with delicate flavors. The **wagyu beef teppanyaki** was another standout—cooked to perfection on the teppan grill, with a buttery texture and deep umami richness that made every bite unforgettable. The restaurant also offers an impressive selection of beer and Japanese teas, perfectly complementing the meal. The service was impeccable, with the staff providing detailed explanations of each dish while ensuring our comfort throughout the evening. Genji at Nagoya Hilton is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic and luxurious Japanese dining experience. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or a first-time visitor to Japan, Chef Masashi Hisada’s culinary mastery will leave a lasting impression. We will definitely return on our next visit to Nagoya!

Stayed at the Hilton (Genji is inside, upstairs), and Genji was a pretty convenient dinner spot for a long day to grab dinner with our group for some teppanyaki. Having been to really high quality teppanyaki places, I had a high bar set. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the chef at our table was great. Absolutely no complaints there. Unfortunately the food was just ok, and I have had far better Teppanyaki at small local places in town in both Nagoya and Tokyo. The real issue bringing this down to 2 stars is the insane cost for this place. It's easily over 10,000 yen per person. Anyone sitting at the table must order something, I think they would make you leave if you said no too many times to the repeated ask of "well you need to order something to..." (I'm sure the hotel requires it to keep the revenue up I suppose). There are some pre-fix options ranging from 75,000 to 200,000+ - which have some appetizers and a small desert dish + meat and fish on the grill, or a la cart which is actually a lot more expensive if you go that route. Tap water is not an option, it's 6,000 yen for a small bottle, ~ 8 oz. Anyway, you see the point, you go in and feel like you're nickle and dimed, and the food doesn't stand up to that cost. Next time we will be going out on the town no matter how tired we are =). The Hilton hotel itself is a great place to stay though, just skip this restaurant during your trip.

Atsuta Jingu, a revered shrine located in Nagoya, is known for housing the sacred Kusanagi-no Tsurugi sword and hosting the annual Atsuta-sai Festival. The shrine attracts around 6.5 million visitors annually and is surrounded by picturesque cypress trees. Its Treasure Hall showcases over 4,000 ancient household articles and materials, offering insight into the deep-rooted beliefs associated with the shrine.
A beautiful shrine located a ride away from Sakae area in front of Mitsukoshi. We visited it on a holiday- Japan Culture Day. Small kids dressed up in traditional costumes. There were a lot of people but not that crowded. The shrine is surrounded with trees and lush foliage. It also has a small Ginkgo corridor where family photos were taken. Small food stalls lined up on the path leading to the shrine. They gave the place a festive vibe. Nov. 04, 2024

I had the opportunity to visit Atsuta Jingu, the sacred shrine of Nagoya. If you ever visit Nagoya, one place you shouldn’t miss is Atsuta Jingu, an ancient shrine with a history of over 1,900 years. It is one of the most important shrines in Japan, as it enshrines Kusanagi no Tsurugi, one of the three sacred treasures of the Japanese imperial regalia. The moment you step into the shrine grounds, you can feel the peaceful and serene atmosphere. Centuries-old trees surround the area, creating a calming environment. Despite being located in a bustling city, entering this place feels like stepping into another world. Atsuta Shrine is deeply revered, especially among the Japanese, who often come here to pray for good fortune, protection, and success in life. The shrine features worship areas and a grand torii gate, a symbolic element of Shinto shrines. I am truly delighted to have visited this remarkable place and to have experienced the beauty and deep cultural heritage of Japan.

The giant tree, Ookusu, has stood for over 1000 years. It represents the flow of life energy: absorbing sunlight and distributing it to the soil for all of its life. It radiates strong spiritual energy. Many pray before it. I too was overwhelmed by its magnificence. Tht Atsuta Jingu enshrines Amaterasu; Goddess of the Sun. And it was very sunny when I was there.
Pandu M — Google review
Very local experience. There was basically no English and almost everyone there was Japanese. People visiting go there to pray and display Japanese tradition (throwing a coin, bowing twice, clapping twice, then praying) to receive blessings. You could also buy charms from this temple, which many locals do

Atsuta-jingu is a peaceful area in the heart of Nagoya full of natural beauty. All Shinto shrines honor nature and this one is must see as it houses one of three imperial objects - the sword. However, it is not on display. Enjoy a nice walk through its spacious grounds and don’t miss the cafe with some tasty delights.
Ray O — Google review
Came to Atsuta Jingu just to “check in” at one of Nagoya’s most famous landmarks, but it turned out more impressive than I expected. I am not usually into shrines, yet the grand architecture, with its strikingly large roof, truly impressive. The grounds are home to centuries-old trees, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. The shrine’s history stretches back about 1,900 years, and while the current buildings are reconstructions, they still carry a strong sense of tradition and timeless beauty. Many inner shrine areas do not allow photography, so please be mindful. Parking is free, with staff on-site to coordinate traffic.
Leh P — Google review
Beautiful shrine in a bustling city. And beautifully hand drawn goshuin. Please pay your respects first before requesting for a goshuin. Similar to Meiji shrine in Tokyo where you can also enjoy the grand forest before entering.

Osu Shōtengai Shopping District, with a history of over 400 years, is a vibrant and historic merchant quarter in Nagoya. It's home to over 1,200 businesses including Buddhist temples, food stalls, clothing shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and more. The area offers a mix of traditional and contemporary culture with hidden surprises waiting to be discovered.
An authentic, Showa era style shopping area, but with a mixture of buildings old and new. There are various shops that look like they're decades old, but also various cafes, bars, and an eclectic range of eateries (with food from several countries). Not too many people either, so easy to walk about.
Jeremy F — Google review
With its covered arcades and blend of contemporary and traditional stores, Nagoya's Osu Shopping Street provides a bustling and delightful strolling experience. The food stalls stood out, especially those with large queues, which indicated their popularity, even though many establishments didn't have anything that tempted me to buy. You can try some of the local street food and snacks there. You might find some hidden treasures or better bargains in the side streets if you have the time to explore. Even if you're not there to buy much, the lively environment makes the trip worthwhile for the experience. It's perfect for taking leisurely walks, observing people, and sampling delectable snacks as you go.
CVM T — Google review
Rather underwhelming to be honest. Not many of the shops are very interesting. It's definitely not Midosuji or Namba. There are a couple of interesting ones, esp. Kannon Coffee. The Osu Kannon Temple at the end is a beautiful site.

Osu Shotengai Shopping Street @ Nagoya 🛍️🍡🇯🇵 🗓️ Visited: 17 April, 12 PM ☀️ Dropped by after a great breakfast nearby We parked at Osu Park, which was just a short walk to both Osu Shopping District and Osu Kannon Temple—super convenient! This vibrant shelf district features covered walkways, making it easy to explore in any weather. The arcades are packed with shops, food stalls, vintage goods, souvenirs, and anime merchandise. We easily spent half a day wandering through the maze of alleys, enjoying local snacks and browsing quirky items. We even picked up a handy check-in luggage here—plenty of practical buys along with the fun stuff! 🧭 A great spot for casual strolling, street food, temple visits, and shopping—all in one area. Highly recommended for a half-day adventure in Nagoya.

Worth visiting for casual walk. Vintage clothing, cheap electronics and plenty of food stalls are main attractions. Those who love ornaments & watches don’t miss to visit komehyo.

This place is so convenient for strolling as it is not so crowded with more locals than tourists. You wouldn't notice time running as its great for window and actual shopping. Has variety of street food to try which are all delicious. But I find the tanghulu quite pricey though keeps ordering to my daughter's delight. And of course has shops with cosmetics, medicine and supplements galore. Had wonderful vintage stores. A leather shop with the coolest belt color/ buckle selection that can be customized. An authentic matcha shop with an accommodating owners that shows the process and explains the variety.

Very nice high end department store in the heart of Nagoya. My kids love coming here especially for the Pokemon Store. They have gourmet/specialty food section on the lower level B1 and B2. I still love coming here in 2023.

Matsuzakaya has lots of luxury shops. You might find almost all of the western luxury fashion apparel here. I usually go the baking shop on the 6th floor which has whole meal flour for bread and pastries, baking items and lots of pastries ingredients.

This location offers a wonderful mix of shopping, dining options, and more, making it a fantastic destination for families with children. The environment is kid-friendly, which adds to the appeal for those looking for a place that caters to all ages. However, one notable drawback is the parking situation. Due to the limited number of elevators within the building—three, to be precise—finding parking can be quite time-consuming. This issue is particularly pronounced on weekends when the crowd size increases, leading to even longer waits for elevator access. To mitigate some waiting time and ensure a smoother experience, I highly recommend making dining reservations in advance of your visit. Overall, despite the parking inconvenience, the variety and quality of options available make it a spot worth visiting.

Don't pay with your Amex card if you need tax free service. An old gentleman refuse to process because my Amex card bears my English name and initials. He then ask me to sign my card signature on my passport or sign my passport signature on my card just for him to match, which is not making sense either way. I spent a lot of time explaining to him and end up leaving frustratedly. I had no problem in claiming the tax-free service elsewhere and this is my first time being rejected. Sad with the Matsuzakaya and would shop at other department store.

Lots of luxury brands but excellent food at accessible prices on the restaurant floor. The Pokémon centre is not in this building, it is in the Parco mall. Hands in the basement (B1) has excellent stationary and other things.

I had never visited the store before, but we came here to participate in some workshop events. We particularly liked a workshop that you can use kimono fabric to make a bag hanger. We could choose a fabric to use from various antique kimonos, and it's useful and pretty. Kids loved the experience too. The artist was very polite and helpful. The other workshop was to make flowers with gibier leather. It was an unique experience that I've never seen before, and it certainly became our great memory of this year's Golden Week. I would like to attend another workshop if there is one.

Nature & Parks
Tsuruma Park, located near JR Tsurumai Station, is a historic public park established in 1909 and celebrated as one of Japan's top spots for cherry blossom viewing. The park features a beautiful cherry blossom forest, ponds, tennis courts, and gardens. It offers visitors the chance to experience the cherished Japanese tradition of Hanami, or Cherry Blossom Viewing party.
Went there for 花見 (flower viewing 2025). Although the place was filled with people the park was really nice. Definitely would go there again on a day with fewer people. It's a good spot for flower viewing.
Ranitha M — Google review
We went at the end of March 2025, which was unfortunately a little too early for the full bloom. Regardless, it was still pretty and I could tell that this would be a good location for cherry blossom viewing. They cordon off the hanami areas, where many people will be picnicking. However, they leave a trail in the middle so that you can still walk through and enjoy being in the midst of the flowers. There are numerous food trucks selling festival food. Overall, you can have a good time here admiring the cherry blossoms.

A dreamland! Beautiful around all the seasons, day and night, evening or morning and, even in rainy days Tsuruma park never fails to amaze me. One of the best sakura in Japan blooms here. 🌸🪻🌷

It is a beautiful park which is tastefully adorned with flowers, trees, bonsai with a lovely pond and thematic gardens and plots. Every view is picturesque and weather although warm and slightly cloudy. Great place to visit in Nagoya City!

I was in Nagoya for 2 days and one night and decided to visit this park it’s about a 30-minute train ride from the city and the station that you get off is across the road from the park, there were quite a few visitors to the park despite it being a very hot day. I decided to walk the perimeter of the park and watching that I would follow the shade. The park is a nice escape from the bustle of the city, I enjoyed the tranquility of the park and the beds of roses and somewhat dense areas where it nearly felt like walking in the forests. Unfortunately, that time of year some of the settings were without water but it was summer, I enjoyed taking many pictures to view later. The center piece of the park is the fountain, it seems the crows were enjoying the cool water, if you are in the vicinity of this park, it is worth taking a look at, you could lose an hour or so here easily but I do suggest to go in any season other than summer for obvious reasons, follow the walk trails, sit at certain spots where there are stone cubes to sit on as well as the park benches.

Yoshinoya is a restaurant known for its efficient and courteous staff. The wait time after placing an order usually ranges from 5 to 10 minutes. The interior is equipped with dividers on each table, ensuring social distancing measures are in place. The entrance and exit are also separated, enhancing safety for dine-in customers. Yoshinoya offers both dine-in and take-out options, with distinct menus for breakfast and lunch. Additionally, they provide delivery services within the nearby areas.
I ordered the set meal with unagi, and although it may not be smooth in terms of texture, the taste was great! The beef bowl that comes with a set was amazing! It was classic Yoshinoya goodness. This Yoshinoya looks a little fancier than what I can remember, and the ambiance is slightly better than usual. Great place!
Renz C — Google review
Does exactly what you expect from Yoshinoya: Beef bowls that aren't too expensive. This store's food was decent quality and came out quickly. Located amongst all these stores it's very easy to just drop by, fill up, and head back out for more. That karaage is a very nice way to add another layer of flavour to the curry rice, and of course cheese always makes people smile. Try it. Enjoy it. Say thank you, then continue shopping without thinking more about it.
GB C — Google review
I have been to different Yoshinoya restaurants before and they always maintain their standard. Sure, this is cheap fast food, but not the kind of fast food one would expect like at McDonalds or KFC. This is Japanese style fast food, where your order comes in one or two minutes. As far as I know, all foods are done and ready to be served. And they consist, yes, mainly rice. Their signature dish is probably gyuudon (beef with rice). You can also order side dish like raw egg to go well with the beef and rice. I went for black curry with rice and it was good, although the flavour was not as curry restaurants - bit bland. But not bad at all. Yoshinoya restaurants offer menus with pictures and I have seen also website with english menu, however that seems to be outdated in comparison to japanese menu. But the pictures are, as always, self explanatory. Simple, quick, cheap, tasty and clean.

The crew is fast and polite. Its take 5-10 minutes of waiting after you order. Inside, there's a divider for social distancing in every table, entrance and exit are seperated, so the safety is good inside for a dine-in. They serve dine-in and take-out. The menu is diffent between breakfast and lunch. Deliverys in near area's are available

Restaurant
Osso Brasil is a Brazilian restaurant located in Osu, offering delicious chicken dishes and a great dining experience. The automated kiosk makes ordering easy, and the friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere. The roast chickens are particularly popular, accompanied by tasty French fries and salads. While prices have increased slightly, the lunch specials remain a good deal. Customers can also opt for takeout or delivery through Uber Eats.
Great reprieve from all the miso and traditional Japanese food! The roast chickens are delicious. The French fries were also solid The system is fairly simple, order your food at a ticket machine. A whole chicken is about ¥1800. If you’re eating in, I advise ordering is carved up. You can also order take away and Uber Eats was picking up chickens for delivery while we were there.

It's delicious but kinda overpriced when regarding the portion size and taste, I ordered a set with chicken, salad and Brazilian fried pastries, everything tasted fine but nothing spectacular, I would love to eat here again but the price doesn't encourage me to do so, as I can eat food with the same quality and portions and pay much less money, regardless it was still a good experience. Overall, I recommend trying the food here at least once, although I recommend avoiding chicken and salad dishes as they are pretty average.

Unagi restaurant
Atsuta Horaiken Main Restaurant is a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts, offering a delightful dining experience. Established in 1873, this restaurant's Nagoya location is its flagship branch and is immensely popular among locals. The restaurant's dry landscape layout creates a beautiful environment where guests are required to remove their shoes upon entry. The eel rice set meal, particularly the eel bones and eel rice for four, comes highly recommended.
Another Unforgettable Restaurant This is another must-visit restaurant for me whenever I come to Nagoya. I have to say, they serve the best unagi rice bowl I’ve ever had in my life. If you’re planning to eat here, I highly recommend getting in line and writing your name down for a reservation. I arrived at the restaurant around 10:40 AM on a Monday, even though it opens at 11:30 AM, and I finally got to eat at 1:10 PM. While waiting, you can visit a nearby temple to pass the time. Whatever you do, don’t miss out on the unagi rice bowl! And let me warn you—don’t hesitate to order the largest size, or you’ll regret it. When you’re here, you have to go all in! The hot, fluffy rice paired with perfectly grilled eel, coated in a secret sauce perfected over nearly 200 years, is simply unbeatable. The eel’s skin is thin and crispy, the aroma is incredible, and the taste is rich yet never overwhelming—there’s absolutely no fishy smell. I love this restaurant so much, and I think about it every time I visit Japan.
Wwaanwwaannn — Google review
Other than the restaurant doesn’t take reservation and the wait time can be very long (in our case it was over 2 hours), this eel fish specialty restaurant is excellent. Highly recommended you leave you name to the restaurant and they will tell you around what time you should come back, then go to nearby izakaya (Japanese tavern) or a cafe to have a drink and some snacks before the proper meal. The eel fish is grilled to perfection, they teach you to eat it in 3 different, personal favorite is still eating the original way without any extra seasonings or soup. Highly recommended the grill eel fish liver, it is very tasty and the taste texture is surprisingly chewy instead of silky. Service wise, is friendly and efficient once you get into the restaurant. Atmosphere wise they have a tiny little Japanese garden which is quite pretty, the dinning hall are very traditional style meanwhile you get to seat on comfortable chairs and proper table instead of tatami.
Charmander L — Google review
I visited the main branch, which is very beautiful and has the feel of an old house with a lovely garden around it. I didn’t have to wait long—just 20 minutes (I arrived 5:20 PM). Hitsumabushi was quite delicious! The rice is delicious! The rice is mixed with a lot of sauce, which makes it very flavorful (while at other restaurants, the sauce is usually only on top of the rice) But the skin of grilled unagi isn't very crispy and doesn't have much of a charcoal aroma The soup poured over the rice is well done and served hot—pouring it over the rice is fantastic! (At other places, the soup is only warm and cools down quickly.) Normally, I don’t enjoy the soup poured over it, but at this restaurant, I really enjoyed it. I tried the Deep-fried eel bones as well. Eating them with salt was fantastic. They were delicious, super crispy, and didn’t soak up any oil. The staffs were lovely and can speak ENG.

Came at 1130am. A waiter was at the entrance to take down the name for queue and we were told to come back at 2pm for a table. Immediately brought in when we arrived at 2pm. The Unagi rice was so good and fragrant. Will definitely come back again

The restaurant maybe iconic by historical events but the current culinary skills and services are not good. Another tourist trap catering mainly for Asian expats. After waiting for about 90 minutes outside we were allowed by “big boss inside” and were greeted by “cold” acting unfriendly staff. There was kind of quiet and eery atmosphere as people silently awaited “famous” food. The food arrived after more than 25 minutes and was not same as advertised, the website food photos and actual food photos are so much different. There is almost no unagi in the bowl and the strips of seafood covering boiled rice have thickness of fried bacon. After having unagi in many places like Tokyo or San Francisco we were totally surprised by poor food quality and dissatisfied. On the top of that the menu is overpriced at least 5 times costing ¥5000+ while the better unagi dish at local market is about ¥1100. Overall we were totally disappointed and had a very bad experience. Lessons learned don’t ever believe web media food stories.

food is great. I didn't have much to complain about except I ordered sake and I received a shot glass to drink my sake 😅 is it worth the price and wait? no. should you try at least once? yes.

The best eel food I’ve ever had! Eel meat was soft and juicy. The top of the eel was crunchy. Very tasty !!! The atmosphere was gorgeous and very traditional Japanese style! If you travel to Nagoya, I highly recommend!!!

Tenmusu Senju is a bite-sized rice ball filled with deep-fried shrimp tempura and wrapped in nori. Originating from Mie Prefecture, it has become a specialty dish of Nagoya. Slightly smaller than the standard onigiri, Tenmusu offers a delicious crunch with its single shrimp tempura filling. It has remained popular as a take-out item and can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a bento box while on the go in Nagoya.
I stopped by here because I heard it was so delicious. There were about three tables to sit and eat, and there were a ton of products prepared to take away. But, of course, eating the meal while sitting there was the most delicious. The rice was slightly cooled, chewy and deliciously prepared, and the fried shrimp were savory and sturdy. The seaweed was also delicious.

Came here to grab a takeaway. So lucky that there was no queue after 1500. The food is simple but tasty. 5 pc is just right for me. Seat is limited in the shop.

A hidden gem in Osu area! It's a rice ball stuffed with deep-fried prawn, half wrapped in seaweed sheet. Very delicious - rice is cooked well, taste is well balanced. When we went there it is take out only day. So we took one package (5 pieces) and find a quiet spot in Osi to devour them... wish we got more, haha. The place itself is very small, only two table 4 seats each.

The onigiri were delicious but I feel like I paid a lot for the packaging, when I really don’t care about packaging. This would probably be a very nice gift to bring someone, or for a picnic. The ladies inside the ship were very kind and sweet. I wish there was more onigiri glove because I think it’s only fish tempura. Even though it was delicious, it’s not my favourite either…

<Pros> Can enjoy Just-made Rice ball (Matsuzakaya brunch served too, but only 990 set menu) Kind service Traditional atomospher Tasted perfectly balanced salt Rice ball is not too loose, not too firm <Cons> Limited seats (2 tables) Inside is a bit messy *Note* eat-in is from noon to 2pm only

I think these make nice おみやげ. They are nicely packaged, and a Nagoya food, but I didn't think they tasted better than what you can buy at a スパ.

Only take out. Well balanced rice, seaweed & shrimp. Famous local food with taste.

This is one of the special food in Nagoya. There are rice balls with fried shrimp tempura in it. Also there are pickles (?) as sides. The rice is chewy and tender! In-store seats are available only during lunch hours.
