Ashgabat in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Ashgabat, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Ashgabat stands out for its vast boulevards and striking white-marble architecture, including grand government buildings and monumental squares that have earned it Guinness World Records. Visitors can explore the ruins of ancient Nisa, a UNESCO World Heritage–listed Parthian site just outside the city, for a glimpse into the region’s long history. Museums such as the National Museum of Turkmenistan and the Carpet Museum showcase archaeological finds, traditional crafts, and Turkmen culture. Ashgabat also serves as a base for trips into the surrounding desert and Kopet Dag foothills in Ahal Province.
With favorites like Independence Monument, KOPETDAG PROJECT, and Ashgabat International Airport, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Grand Turkmen Hotel and Ak Altyn Hotel so you can get the best taste of Ashgabat while you’re here. International airport
Ashgabat International Airport, also known as Saparmyrat Turkmenbasy International Airport, is a significant hub in Turkmenistan. It has been receiving flights from various countries, including those operated by Turkish Airlines, Flydubai and Belavia International Flights. The airport's terminal was built in 1994 with a capacity to handle 1,600 passengers per hour.
【Ashgabat International Airport, Turkmenistan】 My first visit to Turkmenistan. This time, I entered and exited overland from Uzbekistan, so I didn't use the airport. However, on the fourth day of the tour, the guide showed us the beautiful Ashgabat International Airport. Built by a Turkish construction company. Construction cost approximately $2.3 billion. It's a new airport that opened in 2016. Modern, stylish, and imposing in design. The new terminal building is designed to resemble a bird spreading its wings, making it quite a sight to behold. Routes Turkmenistan Domestic Flights International flights: Flights from Russia, Turkey, and Dubai and flights from Urumqi, China.
ぼくサノス — Google review
Not having basic internet access is very difficult for international travelers, can’t check in for other part of our journey. The front of the building is in the shape of a falcon, so cool. This a very new and modern airport, with plenty of security stations before getting to our gate. The custom checkpoint was super slow. Maybe be it was 4:30 in the morning? Not much duty free shopping, I think that’s a good thing for us😄
Jesse L — Google review
Very unique compated to other airports. Even though it looks scary at first with the guards everywhere, it is actually chill unless you try to take photos or stuff. The duty free shops sell local snacks and unique things. There is also cafes after the passport control that sells things like Turkmen Manti ( Turkmen Dumpling ). Very unique for stays ( waiting for next flight ). But its not the best if you will stay there over 10 hours. Even though i didnt explore the whole area, it is small. Small but VERY UNİQUE. For transfers to Thailand, Germany and more, it is a very unique transfer, and if you see the empty security room after entering the transfer passengers part, just cross and set all the alarms off. Sometimes there are security though. The bad part? The wifi is insanely limited. Most of the time theres no wifi. Thats the only very bad problem.

I flew to Ashgabat as I had a transit flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Istanbul, Turkey. It was a nice experience, but the airport had no Internet. It’s 2025 and although I was amazed by its modern architecture, I was still puzzled by its Soviet atmosphere. I didn’t buy anything so I can’t comment there. The toilets were fine, my first flight arrived at 1am so it wasn’t crowded. There were modern Dyson hand dryer machines! To my surprise, many people (the Turkmenistan people) came early to wait for our flight to Istanbul at 5am. More than 3 hours waiting at the airport is truly tiring, especially when there was no internet. I didn’t like the queuing process as people kept cutting the lines, or actually there were no lines.
Khanh T — Google review
Ashgabat International Airport, or Aşgabat Halkara hоwa menzili, is a modern, well-equipped airport located in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat. The airport, opened in 2016, is renowned for its striking architecture, designed to resemble a soaring falcon, symbolizing Turkmenistan’s heritage and spirit. The terminal is spacious, clean, and features high-quality facilities, including duty-free shops, restaurants, and comfortable seating areas. Passengers often comment on the airport’s efficient immigration and customs procedures, which facilitate a smooth arrival and departure experience. However, some travelers have noted that flight schedules can be limited, with fewer international connections compared to other major hubs. Despite this, the airport’s design and amenities provide a pleasant experience for travelers. Additionally, the airport is located just a short drive from Ashgabat's city center, making it convenient for visitors to access the city. Overall, Ashgabat International Airport reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to showcasing its culture through modern infrastructure, offering a unique and enjoyable gateway into the country.

We arrived in Ashgabat airport from Mary. It was quite a quick flight with fast luggage and passport control. Beautiful airport with few people inside. I was surprised to see taxi drivers outside though )) The thing I did not understand is that after we arrived the bus took us to the main building, then we went up to the 3rd floor and moved on. Then we moved back on the 1st floor. It was strange to me.
Shukhrat U — Google review
Not as bad as I thought it would be! Used Turkmenistan Airlines to fly from Beijing to Istanbul, via Ashgabat. The Ashgabat airport is pretty large, but of course, pretty empty at the same time. If you want wifi, go to the cafe near gate 110. The network name is SPARK and the code is 10203040. Worked sending texts through Whatsapp, Instagram, Messenger (without VPN). I could also buy a fridge magnet in the airport for just 1USD. You can pay by card (Visa/Mastercard). Other than that, pretty good experience flying with Turkmenistan Airlines.

Ashgabat Airport is impressive — clean, modern, and very comfortable. We had a transit stop here on our way to Makkah for Umrah. The atmosphere was calm, facilities were excellent, and the staff were friendly. A great airport for a peaceful transit before continuing our sacred journey.

State shopping center Gulistan, also known as the Russian bazaar, is a popular spot in Ashgabat. It's a great place to shop for souvenirs and enjoy local cuisine. Visitors can find various stalls offering cooked corn, doner, manti, and other affordable food options. The market is also known for offering beluga caviar at very reasonable prices.
Great place to walk around, shop, access WiFi and to talk to the Asgabatis. Can pick up decently priced souvenirs too.

This is one of the most clean and organized bazaar I have ever seen from around the world, trash isn’t around and so well maintained. It carries everything from cling, shoes, restaurants, and they even sell fake caviars 😄

Very nice open air market selling everything. Very clean and well stocked. Might be tough to English speakers but everyone was friendly and helpful. Lots of handmade souvenirs and fresh produce.
Upstate W — Google review
Good market for fruits, food and drinks. We found some cheap beluga caviar in the markets . You can also get good local food/ soups and dumplings around the north side down some steps. And doesn’t cost more than 10 Manat.

The "Russian Bazaar" as Gulistan shopping center is popularly called, is the oldest covered market in Ashgabat. The bazaar was built between 1972 and 1982 within the framework of the "Ashgabat Reconstruction Program 1970-1980". Despite the emergence of new stores and malls in Ashgabat, markets continue to be popular among locals and tourists.

With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Sha Coffee aims to bring people together to create beautiful memories with friends and family.
Great place with perfect service and delicious food. No wi-fi but this is not something to criticize due to country’s situation. The place is in the park so it was the end of park walk from Diwan Hotel. Staff is very helpful to make you feel special. Turkmen people are very kind and helpful in general so this place no different. Highly recommended. Will visit again once in Ashgabat.

Grand Turkmen Hotel

Hotel
The Grand Turkmen Hotel is centrally located in town, adjacent to the Russian bazaar. It used to be home to Turkmenistan's only casino before gambling was prohibited. Despite slightly dated and less pristine rooms, the hotel's prime location near various markets and shops makes up for it. The staff is highly praised for their helpfulness, particularly Regina at the front desk who offers excellent assistance with transportation and local information.
The rooms are bit dated and not as clean as you expected however the location of the hotel is perfect. Groceries, russian bazar, teke bazar and shops all around. The reason for 5 stars is that All the staff was very helpful and kind but Regina at the front desk was awesome! Her English is perfect and she helped me with transportation around the city and made sure I had the hotel number in case of anything! They kept my luggage for free. Wi-Fi was ok! Breakfast was good and pool was closed!
Virginia L — Google review
I didn’t stay here so gave rooms a five star just to be fair to the hotel . But I did not have a good experience here. I went in to check it out as I was thinking I may stay here for a few days . The lobby is very blah and not inviting . An old lady followed me everywhere. And she was very obvious about it . I turned a corner to look at a painting and she turned the corner as well and just stared at me . Every move I made. Looking at gift shop - she was there behind me staring . I went to front desk . They said no sauna even though sauna sign . And restaurant only serves breakfast. I asked front desk who the old creepy woman was and they said security. All hotels have security here but are a lot more discreet
Will — Google review
Good hotel. Rooms are definitely dated but that’s part of the charm. Staff are pretty friendly. There is free luggage storage. The pool is great and the lounge next to the pool serves ice cream and cold drinks which is great to cool off after a hot day. Conveniently located close to a good shopping center to get a Turkmenistan track suit and also souvenirs. Wifi is restricted like in the rest of the country (only non restricted place is the Yyldiz hotel - if you’re craving Facebook and Instagram just go there and buy a pass while eating at the restaurant) so so not plan to be able to access WhatsApp or other social media. Did I mention karoake on the main floor? Breakfast is decent. Good experience here. Don’t expect anything too modern though.
Emily T — Google review
From the outside & foyer it looks impressive & modern. Don't let this fool you, the rooms are tired & scruffy. Cracked & worn laminate flooring, mould around the bath & stains on the basin. Electrical sockets that pull away from the wall mounting when unplug lights, electrical items with cables exposed. Two bar fridges in the same room, both smelt musty & damp. No safes in the room. After housekeeping had been around, new bedding was threadbare & holes in pillow cases. Thick dust on hairdryer & around skirting boards. TV stations unwatchable due to terrible reception & poor picture quality. Apparently a good location, would prefer a better hotel in a "worse" location given how much it cost to visit.
Simon E — Google review
Large room, staff helpful, wifi strong in the room, and the heater is really great! The breakfast is buffet, though mostly cold. Had to ask for chef to cook eggs to have hot meal. Location is also great. Just across the Russian bazaar. We just walked around to see the large park in front of the Congress building.
Edmund R — Google review
Clean and solid beds. The room fittings were outdated, the fridge was empty, TV channels were fuzzy and the shower sprayed everywhere. Room service had no soft drinks or alcohol available. We were put off laundry by excessive pricing. Breakfast buffet had some good options but plenty of confusing ones too. Reception staff spoke good English and were very helpful. Looks good on paper but doesn't deliver.
Paul L — Google review
Soviet hotel, beds too firm, slightly rundown decor in rooms and halls. Must put used toilet paper in open wastepaper basket. Reception staff courteous with passable English. Good air conditioning and shower. Not so good breakfast, instant coffee.
Ronald R — Google review
A few ears ago, this "5 stars" hotel belonged to the Sheraton chain. But since it has been retaken by the governement, it is more and more run down. The pool is large but it is hard to find a space for swimming with all the kids splashing around and diving. The elevator by the restaurant is quite frightening seen its bad state. That said, beds are very confy and the bath tube is large. And the position of the hotel is central. So, the latter deserves 3 stars but could be improved.

Ak Altyn Hotel

Hotel
Ak Altyn Hotel, formerly known as Sheraton, is a contemporary hotel offering bright accommodations with complimentary breakfast. Situated in one of the last remaining older parts of Ashgabat, the hotel provides a unique experience with its small buildings and tree-lined streets. Guests can enjoy amenities such as an eatery, sauna, outdoor pool, bar, and gym. The hotel also boasts great views of the city and a popular night club among locals.
Stayed several nights. As others have said, the rooms are a bit dated, but very clean. AC was variable depending on the room - some upper floor rooms have a dedicated mini-splits. Mine worked well. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The front desk always had someone with useful English. The nearby market and cafe are convenient and excellent, respectively (southeast of hotel). Overall, had a very good stay and would certainly re-visit.
Joel W — Google review
I agree this is a tourist hotel but the funny thing is they don’t treat the tourist very well. Our room was old and dated, the people next to us were smoking cigarettes on a non-smoking floor. When we mentioned to the staff they just sprayed our room with air freshener that didn’t really covered up the cigarettes. The hotel restaurant was a little expensive for average food. Nice staff but food could be better.
Jesse L — Google review
The hotel has clearly seen better days. There was no power in the room but everything in the bathroom worked. There was hot water. The amenities are not worth mentioning so carry your own soap or shower gel.
Bon A — Google review
As wonderfully clean and white as the city of Ashgabat is, the hotel is dirty and shabby. The bathroom was completely filthy and there was mould in the gaps. The cupboards are old and the veneer is swollen. The beds were not freshly made. The dirt from the previous guest was still there. You didn't want to touch the AC thermostat, it was so dirty. What a pity. That clouded the impression of the clean city.
Susanne S — Google review
Location is great. Many markets and restaurants walking distance away but the hotel is old. The interior of the rooms are soviet style. Room amenities are old. But if you live in a higher floor, you can have a great veiw of the city at night. I loved that part. Staff is very friendly.
Shovkat K — Google review
Stayed here as part of a tour with Saada tours. I stayed in a private 1 person room, it was clean and everything was provided but I heard from some friends their room was missing some things like a towel. The service was super good. It’s an excellent hotel that’s seen better days but it’s in Turkmenistan so it’s not bad
John K — Google review
We were part of the Lupine Travel group visiting the 5 Stans & this was our first stop. We arrived at 3am, the rooms are ok & air didn’t work well. We had to take cold showers to sleep well at night. This hotel is very convenient though next to a grocery store on the right side & an incredible cafe.
Essie D — Google review
Overpriced for tourists and very bad rooms. The lobby is nice and the breakfast is okay. the location is good for reaching stuff. The staff is friendly but due to the fact that the rooms is the most important thing of a hotel, I can not recommend it. Felt just ripped off.

The Ashgabat Olympic Complex was constructed for the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and has become a popular tourist attraction in the city. The venue encompasses a stadium, an aquatics center, and a tennis stadium. Even if one doesn't attend any events, it is still worth visiting to appreciate the contemporary and futuristic architectural design of the complex. This picturesque location in Ashgabat offers stunning panoramic views and provides an exceptional tennis experience with world-class facilities.
One of the most known stadiums of Turkmenistan, which hosted the opening ceremony of 2017 Asian indoor and martial arts games, from a perspective of Olympic village at night.
Derkarberdi 2 — Google review
The stadium held 30,000 people and was built in 2003, named for Saparmurat Niyazov. In 2017, it hosted Asian Olympic Council’s Asian Indoor & Martial Arts games that included participation from Australia and wider Oceania. The wider Ashgabat Olympic Park also hosted the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships. In 2007 the Turkmen government decided to reconstruct the stadium and to enlarge it. The new arena seats up to 45,000 people. The stadium closed in 2012, and was partially demolished in 2013 for redevelopment. The most prominent feature of the new renovations is head of an Ahal-Teke horse, which resembles the national emblem of the country.
Vahid S — Google review
A wonderful stadium with cutting edge technology and great facilities. The primary stadium amidst the Olympic Complex that housed the Asian Indoor Martial Art Games 2017. A grand official opening was held with many performances and parades. Truly a great sporting event of international magnitude. This Stadium was built with these games in mind and was used for the first time for these games. Platforms on the stadium playing field were electronically raised and lighting/sound systems were first class rated. Gigantic wide LCD screens were also placed and the hallmark of the stadium was the huge stallion’s figure head. A momentous event in sports and we were lucky enough to be part of it. The Games was held under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia and the General Assembly Meeting was also part of this incredible event. It was a most memorable event and visit to beautiful Ashgabat in Tukministan!

I can not comment the Olympic Stadium because I did not go inside to observe the facility. I was there for the Asian indoor games which was very nice. Dining and village were wonderful. Friendly people. The big Stadium looked beautiful from the outside. You can see there are beautiful government buildings. It was a very weird place because streets were empty and not many people walking around. But very beautiful city.

This is a beautiful place in Ashgabat with many scenery view and has great experience of playing the tennis. The tennis courts and bowling place is amazing and world class level. More tournaments should be organised. Unfortunately this place is not opened to be used by public and hardly someone allowed to use the facilities. The authority should allow the kids to prepare for various games and tournaments.

Bagt Koshgi, also known as the Wedding Palace or 'happiness Palace,' is an eccentric and modern building located in Ashgabat. The white and gold structure features lower floors that are stacked in a staggered star-shaped fashion, with an oversized disco ball on top enclosed by Turkmen stars. Visitors recommend seeing it at night when it lights up in different colors. It's a popular spot for newlyweds to take photos. The palace also offers marriage registration services for locals.
Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Ashgabat. Do enter the building because you’re able to visit the shops that offer various rental services for wedding dresses, as well as photography services.
Jordan T — Google review
It was looking cool for sure! But the people are so paranoid by me just wanting to take pictures. At the end they were quite friendly and welcoming. The building from the outside was quite decent so just check it out it's just not
Backpackingpeanuts — Google review
Highly recommended visit this place! The architecture is very unique! On the sphere inside the star is the map of Turkmenistan. Bus stop across the street can take you close to the neutrality monument!
Virginia L — Google review
We stayed here for two nights as part of our guided Turkmenistan tour and weren't really satisfied with this hotel though the building is really interesting from the outside. The rooms were already really run down, the personnel was not the least bit friendly (opposite to most other Turkmen people we met) and breakfast was ... frugal, to put it euphemistically. Also the WiFi was super slow, even for Turkmen conditions. I would not recommend staying here, not even for one night.
P R — Google review
Anyone standing in front of this wedding palace can only draw one conclusion: getting married is a huge event in Turkmenistan. Built in the same modern-Turkmen style as the rest of the new Ashgabat, this very recognizable building literally and figuratively rises above that new city. If your not getting married, this is a good place to take a look at the new part of Ashgabat.
Koen — Google review
Fascinating building and a must see. There is a fantastic view over the city from here. It is worth visiting both day and night (to see all the lights).

Modern looking hotel and nice enough rooms but scratch beneath the surface and it’s a little tired in places and the WiFi doesn’t work at all. Breakfast was so-so and during my stay of two nights I was the only guest.

The Alem Entertainment Center in Ashgabat is a must-see landmark, boasting the world's largest covered Ferris wheel according to the Guinness Book of World Records. The impressive structure, illuminated with vibrant colors at night, cost over 315 million Turkmen manat to construct. This indoor Ferris wheel holds another Guinness record for being the largest of its kind, featuring a 57-meter diameter and 24 cabins.
Very beautiful designed wheel it has got restaurant and kids play area inside. You can even sit inside and have a view of Ashgabat from it. Best time to go is near sunset as you can enjoy day and night time..after lights are lit it looks totally different 😊

This is site has an amazing architecture! I visited on a Wednesday and no one was around. There isn’t any information on the working hours too! I was so looking forward the experience! Still worth stop by for pictures!!

A very strange visit. The ferris wheel was in a beautiful building but there were no people at all, despite it being a Sunday. Nobody in the building, nobody outside and nobody on the roads. After some time, one employee arrived and switch on the ferris wheel especially for me.
Joost V — Google review
It is the world's largest indoor observation wheel. 16 see-through gondolas are running around. The scenery is not very good, but I was excited by the feeling of being in a flashy building beyond that.
Syuu M — Google review
Nice on the outside, but the visibility from the inside is poor (The windows are dirty, the glass frame of the building is broken...) and the wheel is awfully slow. More for show than a functional thing

AlpEt Steakhouse is a unique dining spot in Ashgabat, known for being the first steakhouse in the area with a distinctive concept. Their specialty lies in their 'dry aged' method of preparing meat, which involves aging it for 28 days to achieve the perfect steak. The restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience accompanied by soothing music in an elegant setting and an enchanting garden. Additionally, AlpEt Steakhouse features an outdoor play area and a summer terrace with fountains.
Great and cozy location for a family dinner. Food is cooked to perfection, outstanding service and overall amazing atmosphere… a must visit destination if you’re in Ashgabat!!!

T bone was a bit of strange shape and too thin. Salads were good, service ok, but far from excellent. Parking is right at the tables, selection of meat is decent.
Andrii K — Google review
Very good meat done to perfection. One star off as we got kicked out at 11 PM. Sure, this is the closing time, but if aiming to be the best steak in town, you don't just turn off the lights in customers to let them know it's time to leave! That's just poor service...

The Independence Monument, constructed in the year 2000, boasts a golden dome with a central spire and is surrounded by fountains and statues of national heroes. It is located in a stunning park where visitors can witness significant figures from Turkmen history. The monument also contains various memories related to the president's legacy. A brief visit is essential as it offers an opportunity to explore the vast gardens surrounding the monument, which are adorned with impressive structures and monuments.
Our 1st monument we visited was Independence Monument. It’s a beautiful peaceful area. I was impressed and had taken several photos. Very quite in the morning.
Shukhrat U — Google review
We can take pictures of the independence monument but not of the guards. So it make it challenging to get close up or interesting shots. It’s a tall, tall building with the founding father on top. Too bad we can’t go into many/any of the buildings to see the interior.
Jesse L — Google review
Such a big park to explore. Impressive built. Very clean park and many beautiful flowers along the pathway.
ANIS R — Google review
Unfortunately the monument's interior was (allegedly) under construction during our visit so we couldn't go inside. But the surrounding park and the large Türkmenbashi statue in front of the monument is already worth visiting. As for all other places in Turkmenistan: don't take pictures of the soldiers!
P R — Google review
The independent monument is impressive but also guarded. You can't take pictures of the military and they will approach you and wanting to delete. It's very clean and not a big visit, for sure check it out.
Backpackingpeanuts — Google review
We visited independence monument as part of my tour program , clean and big attraction , saw young locals visiting too . We are not allowed to to take photo of the guards .
Kenkeh H — Google review
You don’t realize the intricacies and details in the statues until you get up close. The photos are not enough. In person it’s absolutely stunning. This country has so much culture. They acknowledge poets here not just soldiers. I have never seen such a clean city as well. No trash or papers. The sites are impeccably maintained. I could have spend at least a full hour admiring the works of art.
Susan B — Google review
The Turkmen independence monument built by Saparmurat Niyazov (the first president of independent Turkmenistan) in 2000 consists of a yurt-modeled dome crowned with a huge spire. The date of Turkmen independence, 10/27/1991, is reflected in the dimensions of the building: a 27-meter high, thick spire and an observation platform with a diameter of 10 meters on top of a 91-meter tower. Surrounding the building are statues of the great heroes of Turkmenistan, and of course this includes a gilded statue of Niyazov.

Turkmen Carpet Museum

Museum
Nestled in the heart of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Carpet Museum is a treasure trove for anyone fascinated by textile artistry. This remarkable museum is dedicated to celebrating the age-old tradition of Turkmen carpet weaving, showcasing an impressive array of handwoven carpets that boast intricate designs and vibrant hues. Among its highlights are some of the largest carpets globally, alongside historical and contemporary pieces that narrate the evolution of this craft from medieval times to modernity.
Definitely worth checking out. I learnt a lot about the carpet industry in Turkmenistan here. My guide was very detailed and meticulous with her explanations, which i really appreciated.
Jordan T — Google review
Totally recommended museum and the tour guides are amazing, giving details and stories behind the main carpets. The Guinness world record one is really impressive. Highly recommended
Zaccaria O — Google review
It was at best ok. No real description in any language on the carpets. Went with a friend, so no option of a guide to explain anything. Basically then it was a walk around carpets..
Helen M — Google review
We opted for the guided tour, it took about an hour and explained how the carpets were made as well as the unique differences in design between the regions. It was really worth the tour, otherwise it would look like a carpet shop. Our guide Maya was friendly, had beautiful English and a wealth of knowledge that she was obviously truly passionate about.
Gavin W — Google review
Wonderful examples of the beautiful workmanship of the Turkomen people. We had an english speaking guide from the museum who was very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended if you are interested in crafts and carpets.
Cindy J — Google review
Fascinating Only takes around 45 minutes to be shown around by the guide from the museum. You get a good understanding of the meaning of the patterns, and the importance Turkmen people place on their carpets Small gift shop though, so if you want to buy a carpet it would be best to find somewhere else
Sean H — Google review
If you should see a single museum in Ashgabat I guess it's should be this one. Carpet weaving is proclaimed to be integral to Turkmen culture (the five traditional carpet patterns even found their way to the national flag) and at this museum you get to learn a lot about this. From dying techniques, the different materials and tools used, the meaning of each pattern, everything is very well explained by the guides (most of them speak Russian and a few of them speak some good English). You also get to see some impressive pieces, including the largest hand-woven carpet in the world and a number of carpets using special techniques to create beautiful relief patterns. Totally worth the price (which is high by local standards)!

Formerly known as Sofitel, Oguzkent Hotel is a luxurious 5-star hotel located in Ashgabat near the Finance Ministry and Ministry of Horses. The grand reception area welcomes guests to a classy experience with spacious, royal-style rooms and well-designed interiors that exude elegance. The hotel offers three restaurants serving Turkish, French, and International cuisine, with the French restaurant on the roof being a preferred choice for many.
Beautiful and amazing hotel.. we enjoyed it very much during our visit to Ashgabat Turkmenistan. Luxurious and amazing super fast service. Extremely reasonable prices.
Samer S — Google review
Hotel is a fancy looking supposedly 5 star hotel. It looks the part. The buffet breakfast was nice and the rooftop restaurant is a must for the views. However the lovely rooms are let down by lack of air con, for someone unused to heat at night, it made for very poor sleep. Every person in the group had issues with air con in their room and it seems to be a common complaint. Some were moved to working ac most were attempted fixing multiple times and moved to no avail. Also some of the rooms were missing toilet paper, soap etc . A call to reception did have these delivered, but check before you sit on the loo! The staff on front desk were either extremely incompetent or ignored concerns. Issues from one day and then the night were unheard of in the morning and advice given in morning was unheard of in evening. The reception staff were unhelpful and quite demeaning in nature. Whether it was because of gender or not is unknown. Issues were only listened to when other guests were queuing up behind to check in. However, the restaurant and bar staff were delightful and friendly. That saved the service rating..... Overall despite the elegance of the hotel I would not recommend. The WiFi worked from time to time and when it did we could access the outside world. It was the only place we could in Turkmenistan, which might be a deciding factor for some.

Hotel is located in the heart of the city. Rooms are clean, large and so comfortable. Has got three restaurants, Turkish, French and International. I prefer the roof restaurant which is French Rest. The hotel is very nice, rooms are big and clean. Breakfast is poor. Internet is fast but as you all know without certain proxy you are not able to access almost anything. There is one thing i like to share. Unfortunately before traveling to Aşgabat i didn't find enough reviews about the city to read, and from what i read no one mentioned about changing USD in local market. In hotels or ATM machines 1$=3.5 manat In local market 1$=18 manat. It was shocking to me. I hope it helps you out.

There was menu in the room. We wanted to order something to eat as you find in attachment, there was the sentance says "our price are in manat" and there wasnt even one us dolar price in the menu. Before check-out we wanted to pay our extras as manat, but they told we can not pay in manat. We have to pay us dolar after that miss elvira discuss with us about payment during her speech she was behaving as we are her staff she was very rude. When we check-in he gives us some info about hotel but he never maintained about payment system. The hotel was very nice but the staff were not professional.
