International airport
Airport
Domestic airport
Domine Eduard Osok Airport, located in Sorong, is a modern and clean airport serving the Jakarta-Sorong route with airlines like Garuda Indonesia, Nam Air, SriwijayaAir, and Batik Air. The airport has strict inspections but rare traffic jams and queues. It offers clear passenger announcements and a small smoking area on the second floor. Despite being busy with travelers heading to Raja Ampat, it has limited departure gates and baggage conveyors.
Not much to expect here, but at least the airport was clean and staff trying their best to make passengers comfortable. I have no bad experience here, only in one Cafe that charge minimum price for Indonesian but no minimum price for foreigners.
Ilman I — Google review
The first entry to Sorong Island. It's a little airport but with many international visitors coming here to do the raja Ampat route holiday. The airport has lots of art work decorations of the local people and environment. The airport aren't the cleaness or the most organized but the people are very friendly and welcoming
Sandee T — Google review
A very clean and basic airport, with basic features a spacious terminal with amenities like ATMs, check-in desks, and comfortable waiting lounges. There are retail and dining options, including local eateries and coffee shops available but limited choices.
Janice C — Google review
We love Indonesia, Indonesian people who are so generous, thoughtful and kind. The Airport is very clean, the staff very nice. But how come the Airport lets places like 'AVRAC LOUNGE & CAFE ' impose to their potential customers to have a minimum order of 88'000 Rp PER PERSON ?! This is shameful and undignified of the great Indonesian people ! We hope than the Airport Direction will remediate to this shameful and disgusting behavior not seen in other places in the world (From Paris to Japan to NYC) !
YourTrip A — Google review
Banning Grab will just annoy tourists and make them like your city less. Ok, a few loud and aggressive taxi drivers will make a quick buck by bullying and overcharging visitors, but in the long run it means we leave feeling taken advantage of, so we never want to return to Sorong. If there was any other way to reach wonderful Raja Ampat, I would avoid sustaining this dishonest rort. The airport's fine otherwise.
Oliver H — Google review
This Class I airport is one of the airports on the Bird's Head Peninsula of Southwest Papua. Quite modern, clean, lots of clean toilets. Inspections are quite strict, traffic jams are rare, queues are rare. The loudspeaker for passenger announcements can be heard clearly even though the language feels foreign to the ear. For smokers there is a smoking area on the top 2nd floor, although the area is very narrow, it is enough to satisfy smokers. There is a small playground for children to play too. Then there are many shops open. Prices are of course a little more expensive.
Rahmat J — Google review
Small but really nice airport with free wifi (I guess they all have that nowadays). The stairs and toilets are really special with landscapes, underwater paintings. It's clean. They are not many shops and restaurants though. The funny thing is that there is no taxiway. So once the plane has landed, it has to do a U turn to get to the airport.
OMPBL — Google review
In the airport there AC was not working bathroom were so dirty and smelly also people's smoke and I could smell smoke in some cafe...And be care full with your stuff stay alret. I never faced any mosquito in any airport of the there was..

RAMAYANA Mall Sorong is a popular shopping destination in downtown Sorong. It features a variety of stores including Ramayana for men's and women's wear, Robinson for groceries, and Shoes Mart. The mall also offers dining options such as Solaria restaurant. During special occasions like Ramadan or Christmas, the mall provides significant discounts of up to 70% on famous brands.
One of big Department store in Sorong city. Located in down town and on Ramadhan or Chrismast, they offer big discount up to 70% from normal rate. Also famous brands available here.
Edwin J — Google review
My recent visit to XXI Cinema at Ramayana Mall Sorong left me feeling indifferent. The overall ambiance was average, lacking the wow factor one expects from a movie theater. The seating was uncomfortable, and the cleanliness was subpar. The staff seemed disinterested, providing minimal assistance. The sound quality during the movie was satisfactory, but the picture quality left much to be desired, hindering my overall viewing experience. Additionally, the snack options were limited and overpriced. While the movie selection was decent, the lackluster environment overshadowed any enjoyment I could have had. The ticket prices were reasonable, but I expected more for what I paid. In summary, XXI Cinema at Ramayana Mall Sorong is a passable option if you're desperate to catch a film, but don't expect a memorable cinematic experience. There is room for improvement in terms of customer service, cleanliness, and overall comfort to make it a more appealing destination for moviegoers.

Very nice pagoda sitting on the top of an hill. There is a nice view over Sorong harbor. You have to pay a small fee to get in. The person at the entrance showed us around and tried to explain us some various customs. Her English was very basic but she was very nice.

Great temple. There are 2 ways to get here one is a nice road and the other is a trail, best to follow the signs off the main road to go up the road.

Only open on a Sunday. Thought the temple would have daily service. Had to pay, great view, massive gong. Payment was to access the perimeter of the temple.

Very nice pagoda sitting on the top of the hill. Followed google maps to walk there and it took us through a local residential neighbourhood and met met the nicest people. Young boy helped us find the final way as the trail went various ways. An enjoyable experience. Everyone in Sorong is so friendly and smiling.

Located up in the hill, this vihara has a great view of Sorong. There is a buddha statue in a color of gold, a pagoda, and to visit you must pay entrance fee of around IDR 10,000. The monastery guard sells souvenirs made of pretty gemstones at a small kiosk where we pay the entrance fee.

Taman Wisata Mangrove Klawalu Sorong

Taman Wisata Mangrove Klawalu Sorong offers a unique escape from the typical water adventures in Sorong. The mangrove swamp is a haven for birdwatching, with sightings of Scrub Honeyeaters and Little Kingfishers. The well-maintained boardwalks provide an opportunity to observe various bird species and tropical sounds, although the presence of washed-down rubbish raises concerns about the ecosystem's health.
Hidden gem in Sorting. Beautiful arranged pathways through the mangroves with several bird watching towers. For me an absolute highlight in Sorong

An interesting spot to view birds and nature. The incredible amount of rubbish in the mangroves is an issue - it flows in from the city and all around.

Easy access. Extensive boardwalk. Not many birds showing. Opens at 9 am but I opened the door at 7.
Peter E — Google review
Interesting walk through the mangroves. Many birds and tropical sounds. Sadly tons of garbage wedged in the mangroves. There are elevated stands so one can have a fabulous view. The government is expanding the area and removing rocks from the area to enhance the water access.
E M — Google review
Came here for birding. Found a pretty good number of Scrub Honeyeaters. Failed to get a good view of Little Kingfisher but I know they are around. You probably will not find Blue-and-black Kingfisher here as it was too crowded with tourists when I visited it, but it still offers some nice look into the mangrove to find some other species of birds

The food was great and the staff was very friendly. Very reasonably priced. The menu is not available in english but one of the staff had many pictures of the different meals on his phone and we chose our dinner that way. Fun adventure on a layover stay in Sorong.

Their location was little bit hidden from main road, it’s behind the mariat hotel and look like closed store. But it’s the way it look, just open the door and come in! They specialized in chinese food and the option for food was a lot, dining area also equipped with A/C. Food taste was really tasty, I’ve tried the fried shrimp (the shrimp was quite big and taste sweet indicate that it was a damn fresh) and the sapo tahu also quite big (portion up to 3 people). It cost us 230k for 3 people and it was worth it!

The grilled fish is also highly recommended for its moistness and flavorful honey sauce. Additionally, the Padang crab curry has been described as the best ever tried in Indonesia.
Really great grilled fish here. I ate at 3pm but no problem. Fish was lovely and moist. Honey sauce did not over power the taste of the red snapper. Really good food.

Best seafood I've had in Indonesia. The prawns and calamari were fresh and juicy. And it was very tasty. We got two rounds of everything. We had The special kitong prawns (amazing flavours) and crispy fried calamari (cooked perfectly with a tasty batter). And 2e also had seafood fried Rice which was really good too. The beer is normal price for sorong restaurant in my opinion. And they picked us up and dropped us off which was very convenient.

I had a lunch here while transit at Airport Sorong. I walked from airport and maybe around 15-20minutes but actually you can take yellow cab at mainstreet, very cheap but you must walk to outsite airport about 5 minutes, or if you are with families or friend, just take taxi from airport, easy. It’s clean and tidy inside the restaurant, grilled fish that I tried was tasted OK, nothing special, i wanted to try crab but i cant afford. Service was good. Second floor is Karaoke room. It’s quite at the time when i was there. Recommended place to eat but the price quite above average.
