Dandeli is a popular adventure and nature getaway in Karnataka, set amid dense forests and the Kali River. With favorites like Dandelappa temple, Syntheri Rocks, and Dandeli River Rafting Tours, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Wali's Hydrabadi Biryani Hotel so you can get the best taste of Dandeli while you’re here. The Syntheri Rocks is a park area that showcases a river with small rapids and rock formations that have been shaped and hollowed out over time. Visitors are required to pay an entry fee of 50/- per person and must navigate narrow roads for some off-roading before reaching the destination. The area offers ample parking space for both cars and bikes, but visitors should be prepared to walk down several flights of steps to access the rocks.
Good place/ falls for a picnic with family. Suggestion: 1. Can't swim 2. No network 3. Carry some cash. 4. Carry your food. 5. Entry fee (50) per head.
Manjunath D — Google review
I visited here on 20-Apr-2025. Serene place. Parking available. 80 rupees per person. There is a small stall where you can get water and other stuff. From parking to the view point there are steps, climbing upstairs will be a little breathtaking so do have water in hand. One of the best places to visit in Dandeli. Some people do park their vehicle at the ticked counter and tend to walk, trust me it’s doing to be tiring better take your vehicle till the parking place.
Abhishek J — Google review
One of the unique natural monolithic rock formations to see which has been preserved. Recently opened. Do visit when it's not raining since it's a mud road which poses risk with downhill bends and elevation while returning. Cash only tickets. Either way you won't get any network.
Amit T — Google review
Syntheri Rocks is a towering granite monolith in the heart of Dandeli, shaped millions of years ago when molten magma cooled and later sculpted by the relentless Kali River. Its caves, potholes, and honeycomb patterns tell stories of centuries of erosion. In monsoon, the river crashes against it with wild force; in dry seasons, it stands calm and majestic. Visiting feels like meeting an ancient giant — silent, powerful, and timeless — a perfect blend of nature’s beauty and deep history.
Prajwal C — Google review
It's a wonderful heaven-like place. You can see various types of rock elements in one giant Syntheri rock. The beauty the rock has with underwater has a great impression.
Mallikarjun P — Google review
A really beautiful place, it would’ve been better if we were allowed to go down but there was a fence, it’s really worth a visit, car parking was available but the washrooms are unusable
DHANJITH K — Google review
Nice place but have to go down a long way. Going down is easy, while coming up ita tiresome. Carry water no shops nearby. From gate its no proper road to point/steps atleast 15 min.
Alwino D — Google review
“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence."... ............ Exploring Karnataka....at Dandeli...... The famous monolithic granite.....Syntheri Rock..... At a distance of 31 km from Dandeli and 16 km from Ulavi, Syntheri Rock is monolithic granite structure with a height of 300 feet, which is located in the dense forests of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. It is one of the top Dandeli tourist places to visit. Syntheri Rock is a huge, massive limestone rock formed due to volcanic eruptions some million years ago. It is named after an English lady called Ms. Cinthera who is believed to have discovered this place in 20th century. River Kaneri passes along the side of this rock. Owing to the flow of the river from the vicinity, erosion has resulted in the rocks getting hollowed. The corners of this rock cave are inhabited by numerous pigeons and honeybees. Entry to the venue is controlled by forest department. The site can be reached either by jeep or by walk through the dense forest from the entrance. At the entrance visitors need to pay nominal entry fee and vehicles can go up to the parking area from where visitors need to climb down to reach the base. There is a 15-20 minute walk from the vehicle parking to the rock. A flight of 200 odd steps downwards lead you to the base. The steps are very steep and various types of rocks found in the forest are displayed along the steps.

An amazing place to view nature. To paraphrase Kuvembu , the river looks like a God's Signature among the infine sky and the green mountains from here. You need permission to go here and also try to go before 5pm.
Makishima S — Google review
We were searching for some view point and visited this place randomly. Really amazing to see and fantastic view. Only thing is photography not allowed inside premis. You can get some photos outside. Best view point i ever visited, soothing cold air and fog passes through you, we visited after noon so couldn't see much fog, morning is best time to visit. Do carry any ID proof as they will ask in checkpost. Must visit place.
Parashuram L — Google review
Sykes Point is a must-visit destination in Dandeli, offering stunning views of the valley and surrounding forests. The confluence of River Kali and Nagzari River is a sight to behold. Trekking enthusiasts can enjoy the trails, while bird watchers can spot giant hornbills. Don't miss the sunset here. Permission from Karnataka Power Corporation is required, but it's worth the effort. Try for permission from KPCL security office at Ambikanagar in advance. Photography was not permitted.
Radhakrishnan N — Google review
It's beautiful and exciting side seeing into heart of the teak wood forest of Ambikanagar, Dandeli, But one to be noted you need to get permission from the Authorities of Karnataka Power Corporation Limited, Kalinadi Hydro Electric Project, Ambikanagar. Please keep the surrounding clean, so that our next generation can visit.
Chintamani N — Google review
Indeed, visiting this place is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, offering breathtaking views of nature's wonder. However, to access this beautiful destination, it's essential to obtain permission from KPCL (Karnataka Power Corporation Limited) in Ambikanagar, Dandeli. Once permission is granted, you'll be rewarded with a mesmerizing viewpoint of River Kali as it flows through a deep V-shaped gorge. The river gracefully curves around 90 degrees first towards the right and then towards the left, creating a truly awe-inspiring sight that showcases the raw power and beauty of nature.
Chethan K — Google review
Heaven of dandeli😍, such an amazing view no words to explain, just go and enjoy🤩. I took permission from one my friend who working in KPCL,thanks Vinay Math.
Shashank R — Google review
Beautiful place. One must need permission from the KPCL to reach here. The view of the river flowing is a Man made and not a natural one. Must visit for the view and the Sunset.
Akshay K — Google review
Mesmerising views and the aesthetics of the place are just too good. Restricted to the general public. In order to visit, one must obtain prior permission from the authorities at KPCL. Well maintained. Parking is available too. I recommend visiting during the evening to experience the sunset. Photography is restricted too.😬

I am taking time to draft, about this resort, because I want to help people who r planning to visit dandeli & stay in this property. We had been to this resort just 3 days before. Most dis gusting stay it is believe me. I am not exaggerating. Most unhygienic stay I xperienced & below par food. Public restrooms are much better than this resort's restroom. Leaking wash basins, No mirror in the wash room, full of cobwebs. Foolish people they don't even change the bedspreads in the room after every check out. They r using red bed spreads & bed sheets. Food court was too hopeless. Head cook & all the staff of this property looks shabby, and don't know the maning of cleanliness. They used to keep both veg & nonveg in the same table. None of the indoor activities were in good condition. No proper maintenance in pool. All these about property. Out door activities & sight seeing is completely fille with lies. We had to pay & arrange vehicle for everything & we have to take entrance fee too in addition. All the places are 20kms away from property. Most interesting part in Dandeli is river rafting, we were cheated in that also. They will not reveal anything till u reach dandeli, once u reach there u will be in their control. Then they will start telling about all the loop holes of the place. If u people r planning for long river rafting pls book in advance through Govt. Otherwise u will get just 15mins rafting for 600 per person. No attractive water games. Wonderla in Bangalore is much better place to enjoy water games then Dandeli water games arranged by this property fellows. Joseph is the contact person for this property, but he is not connected to the resort and only markets on behalf. He will not visit the property at all. I think he is just a booking agent of this property. He speaks nicely & fool the people & make them to book the ticket. By seeing the reviews I asked him about more negative reviews than positive, without seeing the reviews I booked the property by paying 1000rs as advance. I told him that I am expecting most hygiene stay & food. He promised me that if any one thing is not good in resort he will refund the money, but in the resort nothing is good. Our trip was most disappointed trip. I never ever had this kind of experience in my life. Just think twice before u book this property. Choice is urs. I was planning to take the pic of toilets, but I couldn't see that area to take photos. I took the room photos with cobwebs. I attached that photos here. Only positive thing is outside of this property looks very nice because of nature. Secondly Joseph will pickup the call anytime, but zero network with in the property. Not even inter com fecility from the room to enquire. No proper food choices. In conclusion our trip completely spoiled, because I ignored the reviews of previous visitors & believed Joseph. Pls u people don't do that.

An unforgettable adventure! The Dandeli river rafting experience was thrilling from start to finish. The rapids were exciting yet safe, making it perfect for both first-timers and adventure lovers. The instructors were well-trained, professional, and made sure everyone felt confident and secure throughout the ride. The natural beauty of the river, surrounded by lush greenery and peaceful landscapes, added to the experience. All safety measures were properly followed, and the gear provided was in great condition. Overall, it was a perfect mix of adrenaline and nature. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Dandeli this is a must-do activity!

Disappointing experience. The place was overcrowded with school students, leading to a frustrating half-hour wait in line for kayaking and river rafting. Not recommended if you're seeking a peaceful water adventure.

River rafting is good but entire Hotel stay and the business run by local is monopoly as per my travel experience. They charge u per person start from hotel rivers rafting photo if u want to get 500 per person 1100 per person go pro video. Batter don’t stay there in dandeli

Majestic experience with skilled rafters guiding us into gushing white waters was an epic event , the river is a killer in some curve movement , heart wenching ,gut testing utter madness river rafting carried out nearly for two hours , thick jungle either side with rocks surfacing out from the depth to outside of the water which scary with sharp side of it .Only a true adventurer is blessed for this type of event .

A great experience that everyone should have but the only concern is people here are only business minded and treat the tourists in a very rude way. We had an rafting accident and my leg was hurt very badly the only reason was the guide didn't tell us to get down and was just sitting and watching.

Dandelappa Temple is located just a short 8-minute drive from Dandeli town, near the crocodile park. The temple houses an idol of Lord Shiva and is dedicated to God Dandelappa, who is believed to be the town's owner. Situated on the banks of the Kali River, this ancient temple has a rich mythological history and is a must-visit when in Dandeli.

It happens to be around 3+ is away from dandeli town. Just 8 mins drive from dandeli town. One can find the crocodile park opposite to this temple. We can also find an idol of Lord Shiva here. God Dandellapa seems to be the owner of this place dandeli, hence the name Dandeli to this town. The temple is situated on the bank of the river KALI. Very old temple with mythological history. Indian restaurant
Vali's Hyderabadi Biryani Plaza in Dandeli is a favorite among non-veg biryani lovers for its affordable and delicious offerings. The restaurant offers various types of biryani, with the Red Chicken Biryani being a popular choice. Visitors also praise the authentic taste of the biryani and the budget-friendly shawarma rolls.
Biryani here is too good. Not so spicy, tasty and cooked well. They provided complimentary Chicken gravy too. Service is a little late but you can visit this place for good non veg food.
Chetan C — Google review
I recently dined at this restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfying. Here’s why I’ve given it 2 stars: 1. Hunger vs. Quality: To be honest, I was extremely hungry at the time, and I would have eaten almost anything. However, that doesn’t excuse the poor quality of the food. 2. Biryani Disappointment: As someone who has enjoyed authentic Hyderabadi Biryani in cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad, I can confidently say that the biryani here doesn’t even come close. It lacked salt, spice, and flavor—essentially everything that makes biryani delicious. 3. Incorrect Orders: When I ordered Chicken 65, I was served Chicken Manchurian instead. It seems like they only know how to prepare a limited number of dishes and aren’t attentive to specific orders. If you’re craving authentic Hyderabadi Biryani or well-prepared Indian dishes, this is not the place to visit. The food quality and attention to detail are severely lacking. I hope the restaurant takes feedback seriously and works on improving its menu and service.
Nishchay B — Google review
The Hyderabadi Biryani here is excellent! The diner upstairs offers a cool ambiance with a comfortable seating area. There's even a unique Afghani-style seating space where you can enjoy your meal in a traditional setup. Both the quantity and quality of the food are quite decent—definitely worth a visit!
Melito — Google review
I recently visited this place and would like to share my honest experience. Ambience & Seating: The way to the sitting area has cartoon superhero paintings/stickers, which could look fun, but they were dirty and even had stains. This gave a poor first impression. The upstairs sitting area is nicely designed with quotes, flowers, and showpieces, but tables, floors, and lighting need proper attention. The small sitting area near the payment counter was just okay—sofas need new covers and the floor needs cleaning. Hygiene & Cleanliness: Cleanliness is a major issue here. The washroom is available but not properly maintained. The handwash area outside the washroom, where plates and spoons were also kept, was dirty. Forks and plates provided were oily—we had to wipe them before use—and no tissues were placed on the tables. Ice cream fridge was almost 85% empty, and the few ice creams inside were not appealing. Raita and chutney were kept open behind the counter, and soft drinks in the fridge looked poorly arranged, giving a careless impression. The entrance to the kitchen also looked dirty, especially the floor mat. Food & Portions: Food tasted decent overall, though the salt was a little more than required. Portions were average—not bad, not great. Shawarmas were already made and kept wrapped on the table, which is not preferable. The shawarma stick itself had hardly 100 grams of chicken left, which made me doubt freshness. The shawarma counter is also just a few steps from the road and uncovered, which is risky during rains. Service & Billing: Service was okay but not impressive. We had to wait 10–15 minutes for our parcel despite no other customers around. The steward was fine but nothing special. Billing was disappointing—the person at the counter rounded up the amount (₹99 as ₹100) and only corrected it when questioned, saying “I rounded it up.” This does not give a professional impression, especially when customers expect exact billing as per the menu, whether paying cash or online. Pricing: Rates are slightly high for some basic items compared to the hygiene, cleanliness, and service quality offered. Overall: This restaurant has potential—the food taste is decent, and the sitting area is designed well—but serious improvements are needed in cleanliness, hygiene, service speed, and billing practices. If these issues are worked on, it could become a great place. For now, I would say it was just an average experience, and I may not visit again.
Alisha P — Google review
"Having recently visited the non-veg restaurant at this hotel in Dandeli, I must say it was an exceptional experience. The food was not only delicious but also offered a wide variety of delectable options. The ambiance was welcoming, and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for the best non-veg dining experience in Dandeli. It's a must-visit for everyone seeking great food and a delightful atmosphere!"
ZAKASIPTHAIN J — Google review
Worst biryani I’ve ever eaten in my life. Totally misleading by calling it Hyderabadi — nothing authentic about it. The flavor was bland, the texture was off, and honestly it felt like a cheap imitation. They should change the name immediately, because this is an insult to real Hyderabadi biryani.
Syed I — Google review
Original and authentic biryani for biryani lovers. Being from Andhra and love for biryani and shawarma, I thought of trying shawarma with beer 🍻. Then got two rolls of shawarma, it was delicious and budget friendly. Tasting shawarma, I decided to have biryani here for tomorrow after sports and safari. As planned had biryani (Mutton, chicken fried piece and chicken hyd dum, baby corn biryani, Dragon chicken as starter). Everything tasted delicious. People who want to try biryani in dandeli, it's the best place. Even starters too (for Telugu guys, it's suggestible). Owner also good, if you want any information on stays, water sports and safari? You can ask them. Finally budget friendly and delicious food.

Best place for biryani in Dandeli, this place is in the local Dandeli town not at the location of the water sports, the location for water sports and campings is at a distance of 20kms for the local Dandeli town.
