The Basilica of Bom Jesus, completed in 1605, is a stunning Baroque Catholic church located in Goa. It is home to the tomb of Saint Francis Xavier, making it a significant pilgrimage site for Christians. The church's exquisite baroque designs attract visitors with an appreciation for architectural beauty.
The Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa is one of the most remarkable heritage sites I have ever visited. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it holds immense historical, architectural, and spiritual significance. Built in 1594, this Baroque-style church is over 400 years old and houses the sacred, preserved mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, making it one of the most revered pilgrimage spots for Christians worldwide. The architecture is breathtaking – from the intricate façade to the high vaulted ceilings and beautifully carved altars, every detail reflects the grandeur of Portuguese craftsmanship. Inside, the calm and serene atmosphere immediately fills you with peace. The silver casket of St. Francis Xavier is awe-inspiring, and during the decennial exposition, thousands of devotees come from across the world to pay their respects. Apart from its religious significance, the church is also a treasure for history and art lovers. The walls adorned with frescoes, the elaborate gilded altars, and the rich wooden carvings are worth admiring. The museum within the complex also gives a deep insight into Goa’s colonial past and Christian art. Practical tips: The basilica can get crowded, especially on weekends and during feast days, so mornings are the best time to visit if you want a quieter experience. Modest dressing is advisable since it’s a place of worship. Entry is free, and photography is allowed in most areas, but it’s best to be respectful. Overall, the Basilica of Bom Jesus is not just a church but a living piece of history that blends faith, culture, and architecture beautifully. A must-visit for anyone exploring Goa.

The Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa looks like a fascinating piece of history! From what I’ve read and seen in pictures, it’s one of India’s oldest churches, built in the 16th century, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Portuguese baroque architecture looks stunning, especially the simple yet elegant white exterior and the intricate interiors with gilded altars. I’ve also read that it houses the silver casket of St. Francis Xavier, which attracts pilgrims from all over, and the adjoining art gallery adds a nice cultural touch. It seems like a perfect spot for anyone interested in history, architecture, or spiritual heritage. Definitely on my must-visit list for the next Goa trip!

The Basilica of Bom Jesus in Goa is an absolute must-visit! The moment you step inside, you can feel the deep sense of peace and history. The church’s baroque architecture is stunning, and the intricate details of the altars and carvings are truly breathtaking. It’s incredible to see the preserved remains of St. Francis Xavier, which makes the experience even more special and spiritual. The surrounding area is also very well maintained, with helpful guides and information boards that explain the church’s rich history. A perfect place for anyone interested in history, art, or faith — serene, grand, and timeless. Highly recommended for all visitors to Goa!

The Basilica of Bom Jesus is one of Goa’s most remarkable and sacred landmarks, celebrated for its architectural splendor and deep spiritual significance. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it stands as a fine example of Baroque architecture, with its beautifully carved facade, grand gilded altars, and intricately detailed interiors that speak volumes of Goa’s colonial past and Christian heritage. The highlight of the visit is the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, preserved in a silver casket and displayed with great reverence. Standing before it brings an overwhelming sense of peace and devotion. The art gallery inside the complex, showcasing rare paintings and religious artifacts, offers visitors an enriching glimpse into Goa’s history and culture. Visited this historic church during my trip to Old Goa, and it truly exceeded expectations. The architecture is stunning—every detail from the carved altars to the aged stone walls tells a story. The tomb of St. Francis Xavier adds a deep spiritual aura to the place. Despite the crowds, the atmosphere remains peaceful and reflective. Whether you're religious or simply appreciate heritage and art, this is a must-visit. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Goa!

This UNESCO World Heritage site showcases magnificent Baroque architecture, blending Portuguese and Indian craftsmanship, and offers a powerful connection to history and faith. The highlight is the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier, where his mortal remains rest in a beautiful silver casket. The atmosphere of peace and reverence is overwhelming. History Museums
Nestled in the heart of Goa, the Archaeological Museum of Goa is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. Established by the Archaeological Survey of India in 1964 and later reorganized, this museum showcases an impressive array of ancient artifacts that narrate the rich tapestry of Goan history. Visitors can marvel at intricate bronze statues, wooden sculptures, and fascinating inscriptions from Arabian and Persian cultures.
The Archaeological Museum of Goa, located in Old Goa, is a treasure trove of history and culture.Being a visitor at level zero, I found visiting this museum to be an experience that opened up new worlds. One of the highlights of the museum is its collection of artifacts from the ancient period of Goan history. From pottery shards to intricate jewelry, these artifacts provide a glimpse into the lives of the people who lived in the region centuries ago. It was fascinating to see how technology and artistry evolved over time, and how these artifacts reflected the changing cultural landscape of Goa. The museum also houses a collection of sculptures and carvings from various periods in Goan history. These artworks showcase the talent and creativity of the artists who created them, and offer a window into the religious and social beliefs of the people of that time. One particularly striking sculpture was a depiction of Lord Shiva in his dancing form, known as Nataraja, which symbolizes the cosmic cycles of creation and destruction. In addition to the artifacts and artworks, the museum also features informative displays and exhibits that provide context and background information on the history of Goa. From the arrival of the Portuguese colonizers to the struggles for independence, the museum covers a wide range of topics that help visitors understand the rich and complex history of the region. Overall, my visit to the Archaeological Museum of Goa was a fascinating and educational experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about the history and culture of this beautiful region. I left the museum with a newfound appreciation for the people who came before us, and a deeper understanding of the traditions and values that have shaped modern-day Goa.

We were really satisfied with the collection of artifacts, paintings and sculptures in this place. We were satisfied with the variety of it and the ambience. The outdoors were pleasant and the indoors were very roomy.

Visiting the Archaeological Museum of Goa was like stepping into a time capsule. We saw so many ancient idols of Hindu gods and glimpses of old kingdoms, all recovered from different parts of Goa. Many of these sculptures dated from the 4th to the 19th century, and the level of detail and preservation was amazing. Just being in the presence of such history gave me goosebumps. Another fascinating section was the one featuring portraits of all the Portuguese emperors who once ruled Goa. Alongside that, we got to see old Portuguese-Indian currency, ancient coins, and traditional tools—it really helped us understand how Goa evolved over the centuries. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take many photos inside since photography is prohibited, but the visuals are still fresh in my mind. The entry fee was just ₹10, and honestly, for such a rich and well-curated experience, it was totally worth it.

Archaeological Museum of Goa Review: Compact history museum with ancient artefacts’ excavated in Goa, plus portraits from colonial times. There are halls and open corridors with exhibits. The portrait gallery on the upper floor has an impressive collection of portraits of Portuguese leaders and administrators. The exhibits are well arranged, well illuminated and with informative labels. Things from a century is kept here. It’s only the archaeological heritage site in Goa and one from India.

Archeological Museum of Goa is situated in Goa old town just beside of the Convent Church of St Francis Xavier. The white colonial building is very beautiful. It is very well maintained. They have a very nominal amount of rs 20 per person. You can see the history of goan culture. With pictures and relics and statues. A must visit if you are going with kids. There are drinking water and toilet facilities also available inside the museum.

The Goa Archaeological Museum (or Archaeological Museum and Portrait Gallery) in Old Goa exhibits ancient artifacts from Goa's pre-colonial era, including Chalukya and Kadamba stone and bronze sculptures, along with artifacts from the Portuguese colonial period, such as coins, portraits of governors and viceroys, and even a model of a 16th-century Portuguese ship. The museum also houses Persian and Arabic inscriptions, and has displays on Goan culture, Goan freedom struggle, and the Portuguese phase of Goa's history.

Se Cathedral is a Roman Catholic place of worship in Asia, built by Portuguese colonialists. It's the largest church in Asia, measuring over 76m long and 55m wide. The construction began in 1562 and was completed about 90 years later. The exterior has a plain style following the Tuscan tradition, with one bell tower lost due to lightning strike in 1776.
A must-visit in Old Goa! The architecture is grand and peaceful inside. Very clean and well-maintained. A beautiful place to explore history and take calm photos. Highly recommended!

When I visited Se Cathedral, the weather was cloudy and it had started to rain, which made the whole place feel even more peaceful and serene. The massive structure looked even more majestic against the grey sky, and the rain gave everything a soft, quiet vibe. Even though we didn’t spend a lot of time inside, just walking around and taking in the beauty of the architecture felt calming. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the light rain, made the experience feel almost cinematic. It was one of those moments where you don’t need to say much—just stand there and take it all in. A simple but beautiful memory from our Goa trip.

Importance of Se Cathedral Church, Goa – A Symbol of Holiness Se Cathedral, located in Old Goa, is not only one of the largest churches in Asia but also a magnificent symbol of faith, devotion, and history. Dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria, this sacred monument represents the deep Christian heritage of Goa.

Standing just across the road from the Basilica of Bom Jesus, the Se Cathedral remains one of the finest examples of Portuguese architecture. Completely clad in white on the outside, the cathedral can be seen from far and attracts tourists from far. If you are visiting Goa, this is a must visit. The intricate details inside the cathedral will leave you in awe. If you find yourself alone there, the peace you will feel will not compare to anything you have felt before. The premises also houses a museum for tourists to visit and get acquainted with the history of the cathedral.

Amazingly beautiful church! As per the available history, a small church was built in the year 1510 to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the muslim army that ruled the area. Later a new church was planned for construction on the remains of this church. The constitution was started in 1562 and completed in 1619, but the church was was consecrated only in 1640. A must visit place if you are in Goa. The church has dress code for entry. It seems they want to restrict a purely sight seeing visit inside the Church devoid of any respect or devotion.

Located in a former convent, the Museum of Christian Art in Goa is a popular tourist attraction showcasing an impressive collection of Christian works. Established in 1994, it features richly ornamented vestments, vessels, and sacred containers made from precious metals and adorned with expensive stones. The museum also displays intricate carvings, beautiful paintings, and other objects dating back to the 16th century. Visitors appreciate the well-curated selection of items on display and the clear English descriptions provided.
Such a gem of a place! Strolling through this beautiful museum is like travelling through time in Goa. Wonderfully presented and housing so many gems, it’s a definite recommendation for anyone visiting Goa. So heartening to see that so many pieces here were gifted so others can also enjoy them. The Museum also holds many interesting talks, presentations, music performances, quizzes, workshops for all age groups, etc., making it a great spot for locals to also keep coming back to. (Didn’t want to add more pictures here, since you should experience it yourself!)

The Museum of Christian Art in Goa was established in 1994. It was originally set up at the Rachol Seminary before being relocated to the Convent of Santa Monica in Velha Goa in 2002. The museum is the first of its kind in Asia and was founded by INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) with assistance from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation of Portugal, under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Goa. Photography is not allowed and there is little worth seeing here. Best skipped

A few types of crosses, church equipments, old paintings, and other art works are displayed here. The entry fee is ₹100 per head which is a little on the higher side considering the small number of art displays here. The displays are very beautifully arranged and are mostly donated by the members of the community. Other than the members from the Christian community, people may not be interested to see these art displays, that too with such high entry fees!

We were visiting St. Augustine's tower when we chanced upon MoCA. Being a total nerd, we went it and I'm glad we did. It's well maintained, has clean restrooms and a little cafe. The best attraction was the main altar and the viewing gallery. It was quite unique to see the mix of culture and art of different worlds. 10/10 would recommend.

Better than expected! Very well done - modern, neat, well-maintained, air-conditioned with the right amount of explanations. Friendly staff, nice small café just in front of it; clean toilets. Wheelchair accessible. Worth a 30-45 minute visit if you're in Old Goa.

It is a project of the Archdiocese of Goa and was set up with technical and financial assistance from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Portugal and the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), New Delhi. Earlier, it was located at the Seminary of Rachol, Salcete, Goa. The museum which was initially set up to display these unique works of art, evolved over the years into a space focused on creating awareness on conservation and restoration of art and architecture through various activities and collaborations. Noteworthy among these are the restoration of the 17th. century, State protected monument, The Church of Santa Monica and conservation of the museum's collection.

Beautiful place to spend 45 minutes here without wait. Visited on weekends on New year no crowd only 2 to 4 people's are there you can spend very calmly around 1 hour in the museum, cafe area is available at the gate. There is electronic and normal wheel-chair is available inside the premises, place is very quiet and cool. I recommend visit atleast once near to St. Augustine 🗼 tower. Entry ticket 🎫🎟️ is 100 INR per person . Photography is not banned if you are taken pics of articals with you can't take pics of yourself and your friend in that place.

Garibaldi Park, named after the impressive Mount Garibaldi, is a vast and rugged provincial park offering stunning natural beauty and abundant outdoor activities. Situated along the Sea to Sky Highway between Vancouver and Whistler, it's a popular stop for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The park boasts 60 miles of spectacular trails where visitors can spot wildlife such as bald eagles, black bears, and grizzlies.
The Garibaldi Lake area was the most incredible backcountry experience I've ever had. Glacial-fed crystal clear lake, beautiful views of Sphinx Glacier, Panorama Ridge, and Black Tusk. Backcountry infrastructure like I've never seen: tent pad decks, bear pulls, multiple bathrooms, picnic tables and benches right on the water, and panorama shelters for cooking. As an American, I was blown away by what the Canadian government provided to its citizens and tourists. Thank you Canada!

Such a beautiful hike and view! Went on quite a rainy day but despite that, our hike was about 8hrs round trip, 5hrs to the top and a 3hr descent. As someone that hikes like 5 times a year, this was doable but make sure to go early to so you're not heading down when the sun sets. It wasn't easy but it definitely is worth the views. Bring a lunch, snacks, water, music and a positive attitude. When we got to the end, I couldn't believe how blue the water was, and for reference I went end of September.

When we arrived they were checking to see if we had a reservation. Good thing we did. They mentioned due to people leaving so many garbage around there have been active bear activity hence al hikes towards helms lake was closed. PLEASE pack out what you packed in!! Parking lot have been paved nicely. Looks new. Intermediate hike. Initial incline but at the end you get a little treat with some flat trail. With our packs we took our time up and took about 3.5 hours and took 2 hours down. The lake is beautiful and peaceful. They have many shelters with tables, pit toilets and ample food hang. Not many camp grounds and they are all tucked inside the woods. No water front view like some other parks. At night it was relatively quiet and lots of stars ⭐️ ✨. I wish I can look at them everyday. This park is even more popular than before .. I am not sure if I would come back due.

Review for Garibaldi Lake Trail. Essential items include good hiking shoes, bear spray, first aid kit, water, gatorade, snacks, bug spay and poles (if you need them). We started the trail from the Rubber Creek parking lot by booking on the BC Parks page 2 days prior. The hike was between 18.2-20km roundtrip depending on how far you walked through the campground at the end ( we had to do this due to the elevated water levels and could not walk through the side after crossing the last bridge). The first 6km up was a steady incline, with 2km of relief finishing the last 1km with ups and downs to get to the lake - it took us about 4 hours to get to the top with plenty of breaks. If you are sensitive to elevation changes, take it easy. We spent about 45 minutes at the top and it took us roughly 3 hours to get back down moving at a steady pace. It's an all day adventure. This hike is well worth the trek and we highly recommend it!
Unfold M — Google review
This is the best hike I've ever done in my life! This is a pretty normal hike not to steep for the most part but oh boy when it starts to get steep it makes you gain 400-500 meters of elevation in less than 2-3 kilometres but the view of the Panorama Ridge from up top is worth climbing those rocks! Not sure if I'll be doing this again soon but yes definitely going back there for a 2nd time!

St. Cajetan Church in Goa is a 17th-century Catholic church with a facade reminiscent of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Originally dedicated to Lady of Divine Providence, it boasts architecture resembling the iconic basilica in Rome, featuring a hemispherical dome and twin quadrangular towers. This historical gem is part of the World Heritage Site and stands out among the churches and cathedrals in Goa for its stunning beauty and unique design.
After visiting the Basilica and Exposition, the side road gives rise to St. Cajetan Church. It's so neat and beautiful which goes to show how well it's being maintained. Gave me a feeling of intense serenity. Really beautiful architectural structure inside. A rich collection of figures and ornamentation. It is an underrated tourist spot so I think this is a must on anybody's tour list. Well manicured lawns (as can be seen below) and a well maintained surrounding makes it a truly special place to visit. Absolutely loved it.

Inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, the church is built in the form of a Greek cross and is crowned with a majestic dome adorned with Latin inscriptions from the Gospel of Matthew. Beneath this grand cupola lies a covered well, leading many to believe that the site may have once been a Hindu temple. The story of the church is just as fascinating. In 1639, three Italian priests of the Theatine Order arrived in Goa to preach Christianity. Though initially banned from constructing a hospital, they later received royal permission and went on to build both a hospital (in 1650) and this magnificent church (in 1655), complete with a small adjoining convent. Surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden, the church offers a peaceful and scenic retreat from the more crowded spots of Old Goa. It’s not only an architectural marvel but also a testament to resilience, faith, and cultural fusion. A must-visit for history lovers and architecture enthusiasts alike.

St. Cajetan Church, also known as the Church of Divine Providence, is a majestic 17th-century Roman Catholic church located in Old Goa, India. Built by Italian friars of the Theatine order in 1661, it is named after St. Cajetan, the founder of the Theatine Order. The church is renowned for its Baroque architecture, inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. It features a Greek cross layout, an imposing central dome, intricately carved altars, Corinthian columns, and richly decorated interiors, making it one of the finest examples of European ecclesiastical architecture in India. St. Cajetan Church stands as a testament to the artistic and religious zeal of the early Christian missionaries in Goa and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Churches and Convents of Goa.

Built in 17th Century by Italian Friars , this is a very beautiful Church , located within a spawling garden space . Being a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tag , it is very well maintained . The main altar is stunning with intricate workmanship . There are six smaller altars too . The large oil paintings , depicting events in Life of Jesus , add extra charm . The coulmns and niches are made in Corinthian style .

Absolutely Breathtaking....the biggest Church ⛪️ i had seen n Goa...It is grand, imposing and inside is a marvel of beauty...it shocked me this Church ⛪️ was left abandoned due to it being more difficult to move the structure and pieces so it doesn't look as shiny, gold and sparkling BUT you need to look up to see it's true beauty

St. Cajetan Church, a historical architectural gem located in Old Goa, is a holistic place of worship. Its surrounding gardens are meticulously maintained. I was captivated by the church's intricate architecture and stunning interior. It's a serene spot for prayer and finding peace.

Nestled in the heart of Old Goa, Viceroy's Arch is a captivating historical landmark that transports visitors back to the 16th century. Constructed between 1597 and 1600 by Viceroy Francisco da Gama, this impressive brick and stone archway was designed to honor his illustrious grandfather, Vasco da Gama.
The Viceroy's Arch in Old Goa was built between 1597 and 1600, with the arch being completed in 1600 by Viceroy Francisco da Gama, the grandson of Vasco da Gama. It was a welcome gate for Portuguese viceroys arriving in the city and was built near the Mandovi River to commemorate Vasco da Gama's arrival in India. It features a deer emblem from Vasco da Gama's coat of arms and a statue of St. Catherine on the side facing the city.

Viceroys Arch, Goa ⛪⛱️ Walk Through History Under the Viceroy's Arch The Viceroy's Arch in Old Goa, a historical gem, is a must-visit for anyone exploring the region. Built-in 1599 by Viceroy Francisco da Gama to honor his famous grandfather, Vasco da Gama, this arch once marked the grand entrance to Old Goa. Despite not being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India and stands as a Monument of National Importance. This arch is a quirky mix of history and symbolism. On the river-facing side, you’ll find a statue of Vasco da Gama, looking dapper in his ceremonial attire, while the city-facing side boasts a statue of St. Catherine. Legend has it that new viceroys were welcomed with a ceremonial key under this very arch, making it the VIP entrance of its time. Originally, there was also a bronze statue of St. Catherine, which now resides in a museum post-renovation. Interestingly, the arch has seen its share of drama. It collapsed and was subsequently restored in 1954, albeit minus its original third tier. Adding to its charm are the deer emblem from Vasco da Gama's coat of arms and intricate floral designs that have survived centuries of wear and tear. Visiting the Viceroy's Arch is a breeze. It’s located near the Mandovi River, adjacent to the Se Cathedral, and you can stroll under it en route to various other historic sites in Old Goa. The arch is accessible at all times with no entry fee, making it an easy addition to any itinerary. So, next time you're in Goa, take a walk through history under the Viceroy's Arch. Just don't try to move in—those ceremonial keys have been out of circulation for a while!

Constructed in circa 1600, it is amazing that this arch is still surviving! This was constructed by then viceroy Francisco Da Gama, in memory of his great grandfather Vasco Da Gama. The structure is maintained very well by the ASI. Such monuments are part of the country's history and hence Kudos to the ASI for maintaining it very well.

The Arch of Vasco Da Gama. This a historical monument which gives you feel of old goa. It is located at a scenic place and you can get some cool photos clicked here. Nearby is a ferry point from where you can get a ferry to the Divar Island. Ferries are free in Goa so you do not have to pay anything.

A Historical Landmark . Though rebuilt, the old inscription and sculpture have been retained . ASI has installed an useful Signboard with good information about the structure . Worth stopping by and have a look .

The Viceroy’s Arch in Old Goa is a striking remnant of Portuguese colonial grandeur—both symbolic and architectural. Built in 1599 by Francisco da Gama, the grandson of the legendary explorer Vasco da Gama, this arch served as the ceremonial gateway for newly appointed Portuguese viceroys entering Goa. 🏛️ Viceroy’s Arch – A Gateway to History ✨ Key Features - Material: Constructed from black laterite stone with green granite facing the Mandovi River. - Statues: Features a regal statue of Vasco da Gama on the river-facing side. Originally, a statue of St. Catherine adorned the city-facing side, now relocated to a museum. - Symbolism: The arch marked the transition of power and was part of elaborate parades where viceroys were ceremonially welcomed with the keys to the city. - Restoration: Collapsed in 1948 due to monsoon damage, it was rebuilt in 1954 and is now protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. 📍 Location & Experience - Situated near the Mandovi River, close to other heritage sites like Se Cathedral, Church of St. Cajetan, and Basilica of Bom Jesus. - Offers a picturesque view and a quiet moment to reflect on Goa’s layered colonial past. And now, as promised—here are some stunning images of the Viceroy’s Arch to bring its grandeur to life. Let me know if you'd like a walking route through Old Goa’s heritage trail or a deeper dive into its colonial history.

I visited Aguada Port & Jail Complex last year when it was still being constructed, and it seemed very promising. Today, I went there again to see the progress but arrived late. The closing time is supposed to be 10:30 PM on Saturdays, but in reality, it closes at 9 PM with the ticket counter shutting down at 8 PM. The charges for tickets are as follows: Goans - ₹100, other states - ₹200, and other nationals - ₹400.
The place is beautiful done. QR codes all along which take you through an Audio guide of the place. A must visit for all Goans and tourists to get a knowledge of the freedom struggle and history of Goa

Visited this place on a weekend, where the people all around the world come to see this historic place. There is an entry fee which you have to pay. The entire place is well maintained as well as you get a lot of knowledge about the history of Goa. The best part of this place is that the Jail has an amazing sea view. Also u can watch the beautiful sunset as well as enjoy the cool fresh air. Going with friends or family is an advantage as you get to enjoy as well as have some beautiful memories that last for a lifetime. I loved my trip. Hope so you too 😊

Amazing place to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed the interactive exhibits which provide so much history regarding the jail, Goa and the Freedom Fighters. All of the interactive rooms are air conditioned which is a relief on a hot day. The whole area is spotless, even the toilets are cleaner than a lot of the restaurant toilets in Candolim and Calangute! Free fresh drinking water facility. Fee is 400 rupees for international tourist, however only 100 rupees for senior citizens. Highly recommended, however, if you walk, there is a very long, steep climb when you leave the area with no bus service or taxis.

Just one view here is magnificent. Except that view there was nothing much to see. There are historical things to see but no description to get a good understanding.. The museum and jail also didn't get a hold of me. Overall it is a place to go if you have explored all other options.
Abhishek S — Google review
Entry ticket price for tourist is Rs 100 and free for locals. To be honest the price doesn't justify the contents of the museum. It was a jail now converted to a museum. You can see the outside of this building from boats when you go on dolphin rides from Coco beach. On entering a statue of Bharat Mata free from the shackles of foreign rule stands proud. On the left you will see the beautiful sea , guarded by a half wall and coconut trees. On going in further, you can see many cannons placed facing the sea and a long stretch of white building on the right. The view of the sea is phenomenal to be honest. But the museum lacks in show pieces of interest. Most of the prison cells are empty. A few have statues of freedom fighter who were tortured here in this jail by the foreigners. On one wall there are named of martyrs writen in golden letters to commemorate their sacrifices. There were some posters written that light and sound show to be available soon. This place might be definitely a must visit when all the remaining detailings are completed.

Its historic & nice place .. but not affordable fee for tourists The fee structure is like this; Rs 200 each for domestic tourists, Rs 400 for foreign tourists and Rs 100 for Goans to enter the fort. Its open at 10:30 am to 5:30pm.. Go & explore it🙂🌴
