Thisted in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Thisted, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Thisted is a small coastal town in North Jutland, known as a gateway to Thy National Park with its wide dunes, heath landscapes and excellent hiking and cycling routes. The nearby North Sea coast offers good conditions for windsurfing and other watersports, especially around Klitmøller, often called “Cold Hawaii.” In town, you’ll find a historic center with traditional Danish architecture, a harbor area, and local breweries such as Thisted Bryghus. It’s a good base for exploring the rugged Thy coast, fishing villages, and birdlife-rich nature reserves of the region.
With favorites like Besøgscenter Østerild ved Det Nationale Testcenter for Store Vindmøller, Hotel Thinggaard, and Cold Hawaii, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Klitmøller Røgeri and La Pizza Ristorante so you can get the best taste of Thisted while you’re here. The Hanstholm fortress is a vast assemblage of WWII bunkers and fortifications that showcases exhibits of weapons, uniforms, and other historical artefacts. It presents an informative account of local history and the broader war effort through engaging storytelling techniques in a well-organized display. The museum also provides insights into the German occupation of the Danish west coast during WWII. Overall, it serves as an excellent resource for learning about the events that shaped this period in history.
Outstanding museum! Impressive is that the Museum exhibition gives you the opportunity to learn more about the whole impact of the German occupation on the Danish people and society. But also is able to take a look to the personal situation for the German soldiers. The exhibition in the bunker is thereby more focused on the technical and military historical information. The most interesting point is that if you take the time and walk the tours through the outside area. You can get the chance to understand the complexity of the whole Bunker complex. For some part of the outside tours you should be in physical good shape. The way to the main control bunker has a steep stairs section with no handrail. Solid footwear is mandatory.
Qwen T — Google review
Hanstholm Fortress is a fascinating place, featuring a massive cannon capable of firing 800kg shells an incredible 40km! You could easily fit inside the barrel twice. There are also smaller, original guns that you can rotate and move using their authentic mechanisms. I didn't get to visit the museum as I arrived after closing, but there's a huge parking lot right next to it.
Marek B — Google review
If you are interested in military history this museum is a must-see. As the biggest fortress/bunker area built in Denmark during WW2 this place has so much to offer visitors. More than 450 bunkers were built here so there is much exploring to do when visiting. The museum consists of both an inside part and an outside part. As a guest you get 2 folders, explaining things about each part as you stroll along learning a lot about the war. Everything worth knowing is described in Danish, English and German language. I can very much recommend a visit here for both historybuffs and families as this museum has a lot to offer both young and old...very highly recommended
Rene N — Google review
Far more extensive than we expected including a train ride (although you need to be early in line to get a place on it), and extensive rooms below ground where the soldiers were based. Not just a filler-in place to go but a must-see.
Random E — Google review
A great place to learn about the history of the second world war and how it affected this area. The signs are mostly available in Danish and German, though a separate booklet can be given to you in English on request. You can really appreciate the conservation efforts, the site takes you back in time!
Todor A — Google review
It's a quiet place to reflect on the history. Peaceful, quiet but somber.
Jonathan L — Google review
A very detailed exhibition. Cannon bunker is interesting, but could be possibly restored with more detail. It would certainly be interesting to have a mock cannon. There are several other interesting bunkers around the site, which makes for a good walk.

Great museum!! The bunker were part of a large wv 2 german fortifikation bunker. The 39 cm canons together with the Kristianssand bunker comanded the strait between Norway and Denmark. Great exhibitions and walks arround the museum.

Cold Hawaii, located on the west coast of Thy, is a renowned destination with 31 registered surf spots. It offers good wind and high tides, making it perfect for surfing. The area boasts beautiful beaches with blue waters and stunning sunsets, creating a picturesque setting for both surfers and spectators. While some find it hyped and lacking in amenities for non-surfers, others appreciate its natural beauty and charming town atmosphere.
Take another piece of my heart Cold Hawaii. You’ll have it all one day! One word to some up Thy.. BREATHTAKING

Good wind and high tides. Scenic to watch the surfers. A bit hyped as in there is nothing here other than beach for those who don't surf. The parking was overfull during summer.

Vigsø Batteriet - WW2 Bunker is a spectacular site where visitors can explore and play among the bunkers, some of which are located on the beach and partially submerged in water. The area features impressive graffiti and offers a unique experience regardless of the weather. Despite the persistence of concrete structures over time, locals have come to accept them after many years. Situated amidst beautiful natural surroundings, this location is part of various bunker batteries and holds historical significance from World War II.
very interesting place, free, some bunkers are completely in the see, good for taking photos, dog friendly

Besøgscenter Østerild ved Det Nationale Testcenter for Store Vindmøller offers a fascinating experience of witnessing the world's largest commercially deployed wind turbines up close. The Siemens Gamesa turbine, currently the largest in the world, stands as an impressive sight with its massive 80-meter blades. Visitors can explore an easy-access path along the windmills at the test center and gain insights into windmill technology at the visitor center.
The place does not get advertised a lot, but unknowingly it is seen for miles around. There is a lot to learn on renewable energy from windmills and there are impressive mills and various heavy equipment to build and maintain. The scale of these mills is impressive.
Kristian L — Google review
Test center gor Wind Turbines from various manufacturers. One can see the prototype version of them being installed or in service. Every wind turbine has a distance of 1/2 km or even more between them. For us to cover 6-7 turbines it took almost 2 1/2 hours and 4-5 km of walking. Be prepared even it is sunny or cloudy, it is windy...
Aditya S — Google review
I admit I am a bit biased towards wind power, having worked in the industry for 15 years. Yet every time I see this impressive test center, I am deeply moved—it even gives me goosebumps
Stephan S — Google review
Absolutely incredible seeing the huge wind turbines up close. As far as i can read, the wind turbine in the picture (Siemens Gamesa) is the largest in the world currently commercially deployed (2023). Also pictured are the turbine blades laying flat on the ground, measuring an astounding 80 metres. As cool as the pictures are, it's nothing compared to standing directly below one in real life.
David S — Google review
Great place to learn about the testing of Off Shore Wind Turbines. Was lucky to see a massive 1000t crane being rigged ready to install a new turbine. And its free.

I recently visited Klitmøller Røgeri, a charming seaside restaurant in Klitmøller. The decor was vibrant and reminiscent of the sea. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I ordered their Fish Sampler, which included delicious smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, shrimp salad, Danish fish meatballs, rugbrod (a type of rye bread), butter and dill cream. Additionally, I tried their herbed fish meatball with fries.
I love everything about Klitmøller Røgeri: the place, the atmosphere, the colours, the music, the food, the stuff. I return every year and it's always amazing!

Just stopped in klitsmoller for a look around and jumped into this place for a quick bite. Lovely sea side colours in the decor. Staff are very pleasant. We had the Fish Sampler - smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, shrimp salad, Danish fish meatballs, rugbrød (a type of rye bread), with butter and dill cream. Also took herbed fish meatball with fries. The standouts were the smoked salmon, the dill cream and most of all, the excellent fries. Both fish meatballs were perhaps a little under par, but the rest was all nice. The fries were a huge portion, which it's just as well as- Inc a beer- was around £30. Id recommend for sure

The shooting star was different but not bad. Missing eggs but the fresh mangetout were nice. Really nice for the kids to draw and leave rocks but some people were taking place to play board games when we just wanted to eat.
Céline G — Google review
I enjoyed the place right next to the surfer beach. Facilities were nice and clean and the food was good. I enjoyed the mussels and the kids had fish and chips one day and shrimps the next day. The food was served quite quickly and you can sit inside or outside and the if the weather permits.
Kristina K — Google review
We went out to eat at a restaurant today and ordered a fish platter. Instead of shrimp, the platter only had small North Sea crabs. The fish tasted only of batter and was very, very thin. The salad was okay, but that was about it. On top of that, it was very expensive, and the “plate” was a metal bowl – just like in prison. We do not recommend this restaurant. Better drive to Hanstholm and enjoy fish that’s as fresh and delicious as nowhere else.

Food portion is good, though a dash salty but could be my own taste buds, view is good and beer is nice. Service is decent and staff is friendly.

Italian restaurant
On the way to Thy national park, a recently renovated restaurant caught our attention. Situated in a shopping mall, La Pizza Ristorante offers a diverse menu including classic kebabs, pizzas, and Mexican cuisine. The kebab platter was satisfying without being extraordinary. The pizzas stood out with their abundance of toppings and fresh homemade dressings. However, it's worth noting that this is the only place we encountered that charges extra for dressing on the pizza and chili&garlic.
the food is so tasty and delicious.. Their behave is top class..that is a perfect restaurant for all food lover..

Stopped here on our way down to Thy national park. The place looks to be fairly recently renovated and is located in a shopping mal. The food is a mixture of your classic kebab and pizza place, with also some Mexican food on the menu. We all had a Kebab platter, which all of us were satisfied with. The Hotel Hanstholm is a quiet establishment that offers a low-key atmosphere, with amenities such as a restaurant, spa, and indoor pool. Guests can also enjoy a complimentary breakfast. The hotel boasts a beautiful view of the Hanstholm lighthouse and is situated in tranquil surroundings abundant with wildlife, providing ample opportunities for exploration. The single rooms are spacious and feature 3/4 size beds which are comfortable. Additionally, there is a mini bar available in each room.
The hotel has a good view towards the Hanstholm lighthouse and is located in quiet surroundings. wildlife is abundant here and good opportunities to explore. I slept in a single room and it was a good size and the bed was 3/4 size great. there was a mini total to go out on. the hotel also offered a local fitness center and a small swimming pool at the hotel. the staff were helpful and good service. Will definitely come again.

Poor accomodation. Smelly rooms. Like it's built on a graveyard. No space to store your clothes. What you won't do anyway because of the odour. The place itself looks good. People are friendly.

We had just a weekend at the hotel. But it was not good.We Got a room with broken toilet that we have to sit very carefully to not to fald down.We talk to the receptionist about the problem but she said that she can not repear it with her very arrogant tone. The breakfast was very poor with halfcooked pancakes. The last dinner was with one day old boiled potatoes.Alto my 15 years old child could taste it. I dont think we come again.

It fulfils it's purpose - we had a good night's sleep. The rooms were a bit old plus we had to trudge up a flight of stairs with heavy luggage and the food was definitely overpriced for the limited offering. Maybe i just caught a bad day but I wasn't too impressed with everything... The service was very good though. If you are ever there in the evening, make sure to order a cocktail in the lobby and watch the lighthouse.

❌DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL❌ THIS IS A SCAM. THIS HOTEL DESERVES TWO STARS, NOT FOUR. Please read this!! Be warned, in this review, I will be very bitter, for me and my mother have spent 4 days in this hotel and I have more than enough things to share. For your information, the hotel was barely filled halfway, so these mistakes weren't due to being busy but rather due to trying to save up money on us. Here's the details... After arriving, we had to wait for about fifteen minutes before someone finally came. No greeting, only a cold dismissal with the breakfast times, after which we've been abandoned right away. After coming to our room... Heating did not work. We've been to the reception TWICE and the heaters still weren't working, even after leaving them for hours with differently turned knobs. When we wanted to warm ourselves up, we had to go down to the sauna and wrap ourselves up in the covers. The smell of the hotel and the room was horrendous. That terrible smell of dirty, unwashed carpets was present everywhere, a thorough clean would be very nice. Now, you'd expect glass, or ceramic cups, right? Wrong. Two paper cups. In a 4* hotel, we've been given two paper cups... One thing that's also questionable is the lack of option to choose separated beds. I suppose bringing in variety is way too much work. So here I was, forced to share beds with my mother, in a 4* hotel. The "terrace" wasn't a terrace, but a balcony that didn't even have a table. There's NO mini-fridge, and we even paid for the better room. We were keeping the food and drinks cold by putting them on the terrace. 😂 The toilet paper was put in some plastic box equivalent to a hostel's. We've been to a hostel in Nykøbing Mors that had 1-2* and it had the same toilet paper holder. Even though room cleaning was daily, they barely touched the room, simply making our beds and throwing the trash out. What about a quick sweep, or a bit of vacuum action? When we came back, there were still a few stands of hair, and when we took a closer look, there was a slight mold in between the bathroom tiles. When we asked about the massage service, the man at the reception wrote down a number and gave it to us to call instead of taking care of the reservation themselves. Um, what? The obvious course of action would be to take care of that yourselves, considering that you advertise the massage option as your own... The pool and sauna were the only salvation, though very, very small. The pool was cold, despite being advertised as heated. I came into the water trembling and out of the water, also. What a great wellness service! Trying to save up on us, aren't you? There was no option to rent a bathing gown and other bathing necessities. You're a WELLNESS HOTEL... Though not my own concern, I've been told from my mom to write this down in here - the coffee was offered in thermal flasks. That's something we'd expect in a 1-2 star motel, not a 4* hotel. When we were leaving the hotel, yet again, nobody was there, so because of being sick of the overall service, we just left the keys there and went on our way. Overall, disappointing. For a 4-star wellness hotel, this is very, VERY, disappointing. There's a huge way to go to even deserve even three stars. I recommend for the hotel staff to get out and see hotels that actually deserve their four stars.
Mercury R — Google review
Very bad hotel and restaurant, definitely not recommend. Blood stains or whatever on pillows, quilt and bedsheet, I swear to god the stains were there already before I use them. Came here in summer time, but the curtains can’t block any light with sunset around 11pm. You can hear everything from the hallway and neighbors. Tiny room with spiders everywhere, mold in the extreme dirty bathroom. When I walked into the hotel restaurant, the first question the waitress asked me was: are you a handworker? I was very confused and said I’m not (because I’m not and what is wrong with being handworkers). Then she went back to the kitchen and came out again and seated me in an area separated from other guests where I can’t be seen by others, I waited 20 minutes didn’t get any menu then suddenly I was served with two tortillas without ordering anything. I was astonished and asked what this is, the waitress asked a manager out and told me it’s handworker’s food. Can you believe it? I was shocked, paid the beer and left without any apologies received. For the record, I booked a week here for business trip, the room was 93 Euro per night. My two other friends (engineers) from our partner company have met similar situation, they sat in the restaurant for half an hour and no one cared about them at all. This is totally a new low and serious discriminations I have never experienced in other hotels.

Rooms view looked into the courtyard. There is dreary flute music playing constantly. The hotel receptionist was the dinner waiter so food took some time to arrive. Food portions are completely over sized. Breakfast was great. Hotel has a modern feel along with traditional wooden architecture.

Internet was very poor in the rooms, dogs barking late at night, children running in the corridors late at night. Not good when you are up early the following morning, breakfast was cold and I was one of the first in the restaurant, Staff took 30 mins to come to reception when I arrived in the early hours. After me pre warning them and also giving them arrival time… Nobody in reception which can be a pain, Lovely surroundings and area

Nationalpark Thy is a vast natural reserve in North Jutland, offering diverse landscapes such as dune-backed beaches, limestone cliffs, lakes, and forest trails. Visitors can immerse themselves in the unique nature of the area and enjoy plenty of natural experiences. The visitor centre at Stenbjerg Landingsplads provides information about the park and is located amidst an atmospheric cluster of fishermen's huts. This picturesque spot offers a glimpse into local history with its charming white houses and beautiful fishing boats.
Stenbjerg is one of the most authentic and memorable places I have visited in Denmark. The small white fishermen’s huts by the sea are not just charming – they carry a story. Originally built in the late 17th century, when local farmers were forced to turn to fishing after the dunes swallowed their fields, these houses became a symbol of resilience and culture. Walking down the road towards the ocean, with the dunes on both sides and the huts standing proudly, feels like stepping into another time. At sunset the view is breathtaking, and in the morning light you can feel the calm spirit of the North Sea. The restored huts now serve recreational fishermen, but they still preserve the old atmosphere. 🌿 The surroundings are equally beautiful – the Thy National Park with its wild dunes, heather fields, and endless coastline invites for long walks and bike rides. In summer, the village hosts Stenbjergdagen, a local festival with music and fresh fish, which makes the culture come alive even more.

The part around Klitmoller is better call a national catastrophic then national park, cut trees everywhere, the oldest trees maybe 10 years, the paths in marked trails are actually roads for tractors and full of mud, not any good parking and the best is the golf course in a national park! You Better visit some parks in town…
Alchy C — Google review
The place was beautiful, had a nice beach and so. But it was not what I had expected of the first Danish national park. Also some Americans were drinking, behaving annoyingly. There is a one room museum along the path to the beach, which was nice. In general it was a place to see but I don't have any particular memories of it.

Beautiful place with a variety of scenery. From forest, rolling grassy hills, & a beach that goes on for miles. Little town near by, so better to bring stuff in from the train station. Good camping site only a few kms from the town.

Very large park with lots of different routes to hike. Amazing walks near the sea but they are very windy. We went for a hike in the forest area which was equally beautiful.

Aquarium
Museum of zoology
Nordsø Akvariet in Vorupor offers a variety of attractions such as the shark basin, a tunnel, a cinema, and interactive experiences with water and sand. Visitors can witness shark feedings and get up close to marine life. The aquarium features a captivating glass tunnel where fish swim overhead. It's an enjoyable destination for families with activities suitable for both kids and adults. The friendly staff and diverse selection of fish make it a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in marine life.
I just visited the akvariet. What a cool and fun place. I believe the place is a state of mind. Because you will always have some Germans complaining about this and that. The big pool upstairs is fun, sharks come to you to say hello 🦈🤪🤗 it truly is a fun place! I am on Instagram @juls.jay
Daily M — Google review
Sadly a bad experience. Me and my family visited, 4 people, and the selection and size were disappointing for the price. The staff member sitting at the front was on her phone, talking to someone, not paying attention to customers before we went all the way up to her. I felt terrible for the animals, in most cases there were dead fish on the floor of the tank, or floating in the water, algae everywhere, The walls were dirty, spiders and spiderwebs in the corner, and the place looked very unkept in general. Sadly i would not recommend this place at all. Save your money instead.
Thilde J — Google review
Cheap. Thats why it got 1 and not zero stars. The tanks are tiny and I feel guilty for contributing to this circus. Bathrooms so dirty I tossed my shoes in the garage after visiting. Almost no people, still no soap. Fish-tanks so full of algae, and half of the “aquarium” so dark, that it’s hard to get a good look. The one person working today was just browsing on her phone. Wile litter was everywhere, floors so filthy.. 🤮🤢
Victor L — Google review
Really bad. Not worth the money. Empty tanks. Bad maintained. It is a shame they persuade tourists to pay entry fee for this charade. Do not go there!
Thomas W — Google review
I felt a bit guilty about the state of the fish in the aquariums, there was also a "catch a crab" section, and most crabs were missing at least one claw. This didn't look healthy. I guess a very typical: you get what you pay for. I would not recommend people to go here. Much better to see if you can fit a visit to the The North Sea Oceanarium in Hirtshals into your plans.

Restaurant
Vesterhavscafeen at Nørre Vorupør Landingsplads offers a diverse menu including fish, meat, and Mexican cuisine. Their fish & chips dish is highly recommended and truly satisfying. The added benefit of their waterfront location provides breathtaking views with the constant presence of fishing boats and surfers. Indulge in their delectable seafood options, particularly the Danish specialty called 'stjerneskud' or 'the falling of a star.'
Excellent food and kind service. The wait is not bad taking all the visitors into account. We had the “Fisketsllerke “ and the “Fiskefrikadeller med rugbrød”. All very delicious. If you are not too hungry you may want to share a dish. Definitely a place to dine here in town.
Dan M — Google review
Selfserve Restaurant with a great view. Alltough the meals a very large and not expensive, the really lack of individual Taste. You get pretty big portions of Salad, shrimps, Fries and stuff but its not really seasoned. So ya, if you are hungry go there! Its good food for good price. But if you want really good taste, nah this is not the place to be. Great view of the beach and the ocean of Cold Hawaii. I did like it, but nothing i would Hardly recommend to try.
Valinor G — Google review
Almost only open a nice fish restaurant in no summer season in the area. Unfortunately this time my son got uncooked fish fillet which makes me to get rid of two stars for the taste. Otherwise it’s very typical danish fish restaurant which is nice and waitresses are nice too.

Horrible service. There were two tables and five waiters and we still have to do everything through self service. Food very simple and not nice while being very very expansive. Also nice location but very sad on the inside. Sadly its the only place on the beach but I would not recommended

Excellent pizza. Even better than PizzaHuts pizzas. Really soft bases and crispy. Could not resist not to eat the sides of the pizza. Chicken salad had a fine garnished taste. Very friendly staff. Good theme inside the restaurant.

Great Pizza with truly special toppings. Place itself is quite loud and way too many tables for the space, so it‘s not attractive to sit inside. Mediocre prices. Better to order a Pizza to go and sit on the beautiful beach!

Excellent pizza, they have unique options which is such a breath of fresh air because many pizzarias serve many of the same kinds of pizza. We orded a honey roasted peppers Pizza (Flames & Flowers) and a duck, red cabbage, apple pizza. I preferred the duck pizza a little bit more, because that was truly special. It seemed like it was a wonderful atmosphere for the workers, they seemed to be happy to be there and was like a safe haven for them. Which I am very happy to see. We will definitely be coming back to try some of the other pizzas. And will be keeping a takeaway menu at the beach house, so others know about it

I accidentally stumbled upon a charming shop with an enticing aroma that pleasantly caught my attention. Without intending to, I discovered a delightful eatery called VØ Burgers, where I had the pleasure of savoring one of the finest hamburgers ever. The quality surpassed my expectations, and I wholeheartedly endorse it with a full score of 100%. Apart from the exceptional food, the staff were incredibly warm and amicable.

We were recommended to go to VØ Pizzabar, but got the wrong place on the map. But I can't imagine you get better pizza at the other place. The white potato pizza was delicious, and the sourdough was great. Prices were good 👍 I recommend this place wholeheartedly.

Adam K — Google review
Amazing food, fair prices for the product, very nice and friendly staff, and overall a very pleasant experience. Could use more seating indoors tho.
Thilde J — Google review
First of all - I do believe this place has chairs inside its premises only for show. I would consider it a take out place only. But, as far as take out places goes, it is pretty darn good! I had the chicken/coleslaw burger and it was very tasty! Juicy chicken fillet on top of coleslaw all in a fresh sesame seed bun. I can very much recommend it! Prices are fairly mid range. Not surprisingly cheap, nor did I feel like my wallet was bleeding. Positives - Very tasty food. - Great service. We ordered something from the menu, but they were out of. So, we got the closest thing to it forna heavily reduced price. - Good location. Not in the middle of town, but close enough so you can walk home and still have warm food. Negatives - Very limited parking. ...which to be fair, they can't really be blamed for. - Side salad is a bit dull for its price.

Akash D — Google review
Lodbjerg Fyr is an old lighthouse who is placed in the moorland of Thy Nationalpark. The lighthouse was built in 1883 but lit for the first time in 1884. The lighthouse measures 35 meters and it is possible to climb the lighthouse after larger restoration done in 2019. Surrounding the lighthouse is beautiful nature and even a campsite with a wild shelter and bonfire.
André B — Google review
Well worth the climb to the top, fantastic views with plaques showing distances, the last ladder could be challenging.
Mark A — Google review
The lighthouse is absolutely wonderful and charming! The bathroom is very clean and warm. The exhibition is very interesting and well-organized. The parking is a few meters away from the lighthouse which is great because you don't need to walk a lot. Before you go to the top, make sure to dress properly - it is windy there.
Mickael — Google review
An awefully inspiring area, with excellent routes through the landscape. I took the blue route (4) from the visitor centre at Lodbjerg fyr (which has excellent ice-cream). The information is perfect, so you feel comfortable exploring the beautiful national park.
Tobias L — Google review
It’s a nice addition to the town. It’s a bit too much architecture and too little play and learn. You will not get inspired or fascinated in a way you want to explore every corner of the national park. Rather you will get educated in a traditional way. I recommend taking a little walk in the actual park.

Located on a corner of the Limfjord, with Thy National Park nearby, this beautiful old merchants' centre surrounded by a charming little village and a yacht harbour is well worth a visit. It houses the Danish National Gallery's only subsidiary. The centre has a restaurant where you can sit in the courtyard and enjoy a delightful lunch made with local produce. There is also a Viking boat guild offering occasional sailing tours. Or you can just enjoy a walk among the old village houses.

The art is currently an interactive mental health thing (June 2023) My contribution is pictured. The view from the tower over the harbour with Morsø in the distance is spectacular, but be warned, there are a lot of steps (I lost count) There is also a lift for the faint hearted. There is a small traditional boat building shed that is manned Tuesdays after 13:00 and at the weekend (From memory) Proper boat building is always worth a look. They also have a full scale copy of a Viking boat (Thor) moored in the harbour which is operated by the Neessund Viking Ship Guild. We are local and had wanted to visit for a while and I did enjoy it, but left feeling slightly disappointed with the art display side of things. There is also a cafe and other outside activities.

Indtil okt.

Frøken Fines Bonbonmuseum is a charming little museum and candy shop where you can spend hours learning about the fascinating history of candy making. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable, offering insights into the different flavors and allowing visitors to try almost every flavor they produce. The experience includes a tour with the owner, who shares interesting facts about candy making while showing you around. You can even make your own lollipop!
Small "museum" with laboratory and shop of homemade candies. The owners are really available and ready to explain the whole process. It is possible to taste the 160 candy flavors and of course buy them.

NO pictures allowed to be taken. Hence… no pictures. But the couple know stunning stores to tell. You can spend hours on end talking. The Candy manufacture is fascinating to watch. And the different flavors are brilliant. Well recommended stop if you have ample time

Coastal Battery Klitmöller

Historical landmark
Coastal Battery Klitmöller is a fascinating site that offers a glimpse into the history of World War II. Although the bunkers are now filled with sand and inaccessible, they provide a clear picture of what the coastal battery looked like during that time. The area features four standard buildings for accommodating 10.5cm guns each, along with fire control centers and additional bunkers for personnel and ammunition storage.
A very beautiful place with wonderful sunsets.

Bunker på strand godt begravet .. bunkers on the beach, well buried , visited on a VERY windy day.

Looks destroyed. A bit sunk. If you want to see how a battery is built, then this is not the place. If u want to see how bad a battery/bunker could be then yes, this could be interesting.

(Translated by Google) The bunkers at Klitmøller were built as part of the Atlantic Wall during World War II. Today they stand as weathered remains, partly buried in the sand or painted over by the ravages of time. They form part of coastal history and military architecture, and some can still be explored. A good place to watch the sunset. Kesses Hus - Cafeen med pandekagerne i Klitmøller is a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Cold Hawaii, perfect for anyone craving both sweet and savory pancakes. This charming café offers an impressive menu featuring everything from delectable crepes with mozzarella and fresh eggs to mouthwatering sweet options adorned with fresh toppings. The atmosphere is inviting, making it a favorite spot for locals to gather and enjoy good company over exceptional coffee, including their standout Irish Coffee.
Best cafe in town! Lovely staff who spoke English and didn’t hesitate to offer English menus, we had a sweet crepe each which were delicious and had fresh toppings. Great menu options overall and good coffee - they do a particularly good Irish Coffee. Plenty of seating inside and out on a good day, it’s the kind of place that locals like to gather and socialise. Plus they had great music playing.

When in Klitmøller, a visit to Kesse’s Hus for coffee and pancakes is an absolute must. After all, how can you possibly go wrong with a seaside café that serves some of the best coffee in town alongside a tempting variety of homemade sweet and savory pancakes? The answer is—you simply can’t. After a bit of back-and-forth over the menu (which is full of delicious-sounding choices), we decided the sweet pancakes were calling our names. We settled on the sugared pancakes served with homemade strawberry jam—simple, yet absolutely perfect. I paired mine with a hot latte, while my friend opted for an iced version. Ordering is easy: you walk up to the counter, give your name, and then choose your seat. Options abound—cozy tables and corners inside filled with games and nooks for conversation or work, a front patio with a lively atmosphere, or the quieter side seating. Since the sun was shining, we naturally chose to sit outside and soak in the seaside air. Before long, our name was called, and our order arrived—warm, delicious pancakes dusted with sugar, paired with that heavenly strawberry jam. The combination was everything you want in a comforting seaside breakfast: simple, sweet, and utterly satisfying. My advice? Come hungry, because you’ll want to return again and again to try more than one of their pancake creations. Kesse’s Hus is one of those spots that lingers in your memory long after the last bite.

They offer a wonderful selection of delicious pancakes, with both savory and sweet options 😋 The savory pancakes are perfectly portioned, leaving just enough room to indulge in one of their tempting dessert pancakes. There are so many fantastic choices!

What a great place to visit. The pancakes were delicious and the service was incredible. The member of staff took time to talk to us about local places of interest and was very helpful. There was a very relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of outside space to enjoy. I read about this place on the BBC, a fascinating story, and well worth a visit.

A warm friendly welcome, a waiter who spoke very good English and gave us English Menus. The food was served quickly and was hot and delicious. All in all a very good experience. Highly recommend

Agge Darling! The seafood is unreal – freshest fish , oysters , mussels that melt in your mouth, and those funky non alcoholic IPA cans steal the show. Brunch vibes were perfect, super chill atmosphere.

Went there for Dinner on a Friday evening. Reservation recommended! Service was friendly and very quick. We had moules frites (when at the limfjord why choose anything else?) and rødegrød med fløde. Good quality. Couldn't make it better by myself. Absolut nothing to complain! Can't understand negative comments. Will I visit again? Definitely! Place is somehow strange: it's not only a restaurant but also a venue for concerts! So you might check first if you're having your meal with danish party people. That might be fun, but not as a romantic dinner for two. But hej, it's Denmark, relax!
Christian K — Google review
Although it is not the obvious choice, this place is great. Offering food, drinks and a lot of concerts it has a lot to offer. The concerts held here are intimate and personally satisfactory, which makes it the natural choice for a great experience. I can very highly recommend this place for it atmosphere and really great concerts ❤️

We had a lovely dinner for two. The place was well visited, even though we were in the low season. Several guests appeared to be locals, which to me is always a positive sign. The food was delicious and the service was very kind and welcoming, and gave good recommendations to wine and food combinations. We can definitely recommend this place, as we will visit it again for sure.

Fine dining restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Thy, Hotel Thinggaard is an inviting retreat that perfectly blends comfort and elegance. This airy hotel boasts bright, spacious rooms with high-quality beds, ensuring a restful stay for couples seeking romance or anyone looking to unwind. The polished restaurant offers a delightful brunch experience, although some items may run low during peak hours. Guests have praised the professionalism of the staff and their quick responses to requests, making every visit feel special.
We can only rate the food as we only dropped by for lunch. But the club sandwich we both had was sublime and exceptionally well priced at just 95kr! And they served some excellent local beers. The service was also exceptional. Thank you!
Charlotte D — Google review
This is a romantic hotel, perfect for couples. The beds are high quality. Clean big rooms with perfect temperature. The hotel itself is stunning and the service has professionalism. If you are in Thy I can highly recommend this place. The brunch was high quality with minor flaws but with options you need. Everything was not filled up, missing at least 3-4 things and the options are not widely, so the table feels empty with no sausage and nut cream after 9. No waffles or pancakes options, it's okay but almost all hotels in this price range have this, same with smoothie option or some kind of homemade green or carrot juice was not available. No espresso or fresh latte here, just normal coffee. The bread was not fresh one of the mornings, things you would expect in this price range.
Daniel L — Google review
The room was too hot with no way to cool it. The breakfast was ok, but not great. The dinner menu is too limited for us with only 4 items.

My parents in law booked their Golden wedding anniversary in the ballroom. The food, facilities and service were all excellent. The staff responded very quickly to email requests and were very helpful in helping us set up for the party. I would highly recommend Hotel Thingaard for a weekend getaway or a large event. We will definitely be coming back.

Stayed for one night in a standard double room. Room was very clean and modern. Checking in and out was smooth. The hotel is situated centrally in the small town. Parking was as close as can be, and enough room for everyone at the time. The included breakfast was well equipped. I would recommend this hotel.

Dont be fooled by the exterior. Inside, the hotel is modern, and newly renovated. Rooms are fairly standard, and restaurant well over what you'd expect. Service very pleasant and attentive.
