Karangasem in 4 days

If you only have 4 days to spend in Karangasem, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Karangasem, in eastern Bali, combines dramatic landscapes of Mount Agung, terraced rice fields, and quiet coastal villages. You can visit historic water palaces like Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung, which showcase Balinese royal architecture and garden design. The region’s coast, including Amed and Tulamben, is known for snorkeling and diving, with easy access to coral reefs and the USAT Liberty shipwreck. Traditional villages such as Tenganan offer a look at Bali Aga culture, weaving, and local rituals.
With favorites like Tirta Gangga, Kura Kura Divers Lodge, and Amed Beach, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Bali Asli Restaurant and Warung Lu Putu so you can get the best taste of Karangasem while you’re here. Nature & Wildlife Areas
Bali Safari and Marine Park, also known as Taman Safari Indonesia 3, is a family-friendly destination located in Serongga Village, Gianyar Regency, Bali Province. It offers a unique experience by combining wildlife in their natural habitat with Balinese culture. The park serves as a breeding ground for endangered animals and houses over 60 species within large enclosures that mimic their natural environments.
What an awesome day out for the whole family! I initially thought the ticket prices were a bit much, but after my visit, I felt it was well worth the price. Seeing the variety of animals was impressive, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was great, and we never had to wait too long. Definitely make the trip, and take the kids, they'll never forget it!

I absolutely loved my visit to Taman Safari Zoo! The animals were clearly well cared for, and it was such an incredible experience to see them up close. The lions were breathtaking, coming right up to the caged vehicle we were in, and the tiger was phenomenal as it leapt onto the truck, giving us an unforgettable close encounter. The elephants were simply beautiful, along with the zebras and so many other amazing animals throughout the park. The staff were fantastic—helpful, friendly, and welcoming—which made the experience even better. To top it all off, we enjoyed a buffet dinner at the on-site restaurant, which offered a delicious and extensive variety of dishes. We were also entertained by a performance. Overall, it was a beautiful place and an experience I highly recommend!
IRSciascia — Google review
It’s a zoo. Expect a zoo. The drinks and food are expensive. The main show was actually very cool with the “domestic animals” being almost circus trained. I’ve never seen Guinea pigs or house cats perform tricks. They wild animals were less trained but still cool. Coolest thing we saw was the bearcats and the hornbills. My son was taught how to play the Rindik (traditional xylophone) for no cost. That was nice.

Bali Safari & Marine Park was an absolutely amazing experience for our family! From the moment we entered, we were greeted with warm smiles and helpful staff. The park is beautifully maintained, with immersive animal habitats and a perfect mix of education and entertainment. The safari journey was thrilling — seeing animals like elephants, tigers, and zebras up close was unforgettable. The animal shows were engaging and fun, and the cultural performances added a wonderful touch to the day. My children especially loved the interactive experiences and photo opportunities. A big thanks to the team for their friendliness and excellent service. This is a must-visit attraction in Bali that left us with beautiful memories.

The place is of great fun for family, the safari journey in the secured vehicle is great. You get to see alot of animals. The animal presentation shows Tiger, Elephant and Bird are amazing don't miss. It's better to go as early as possible since first show starts at 10:00 am. I recommend the first or basic package since you won't have time for the other options in higert pacakges

We had an amazing experience in Bali Safari. An interesting place to visit especially with children (as adults, we really enjoyed it). You can visit their website to buy the ticket in advance, and the price may vary based on what you want to do. They also offer a night safari. You might want to bring a cap or portable fan because the weather can get really hot most of the time.
Ariani — Google review
We were here with the rest of my colleague and their children, Anita and Shirley, Ashley, Aaron and Arion from Darwin. I stayed for 3days and they stayed longer. At the Safari, we met our tour guide Mr. Prasad, and saw not many animals only few. It feels like we were the last people to visit the Safari because its about to close down. As you can see only the stone animal figures I only captured in the Safari because there were only Monkeys, Elephants, Snakes, Tigers, Birds and Giraff. It's the usual animals of all the Safaris I've been to. There were no more wild animals in Safari.
Shirley M — Google review
The Bali Safari & Marine Park is well designed and there are many different kinds of animals and fish. The safari experience itself is okay, and the park definitely provides opportunities to see animals up close and learn more about them. In that sense, I appreciate that the park tries to raise awareness among visitors about different species and the importance of conservation. However, there are also some aspects that personally appeal to me less. For example, I find it unfortunate that there are still shows where animals perform tricks, and that elephant rides are offered. In my view, this is outdated and does not contribute to education or animal welfare. Additionally, I found the sustainability policy somewhat contradictory. For instance, you're not allowed to bring your own (sustainable) stainless steel water bottle into the park, while during the dolphin show they emphasize how harmful plastic is to the ocean. At the same time, plastic Le Minerale bottles are sold everywhere. If the park truly wanted to support sustainability and reduce plastic pollution, affordable water refill stations would be a much better and more credible solution than selling single-use plastic. As a result, the whole thing feels like greenwashing. In short: a beautiful park with great potential and a valuable educational approach, but there is definitely room for improvement in terms of animal welfare and credible sustainability efforts.

Waterfalls
Tukad Cepung Waterfall in Bali is a unique natural wonder that cascades through a cave opening, creating a mesmerizing sight as sunlight filters through. Unlike other popular waterfalls in Bali, Tukad Cepung offers the breathtaking experience of water flowing down rugged cliffs without forming a pool for swimming. The location provides an awe-inspiring view against the backdrop of the sky.
Had a lot of fun 'trekking' and wading through water to get to the waterfall. I was most at awe when looking up at the lush greenery surrounding you. There was also a very cute pool that you could swim in looking at one of the waterfalls. Went on a Sunday, wasn't horribly busy. Definitely need to bring water shoes.
Amanda — Google review
An incredible experience. The sheer force of the waterfall was mind-blowing. There weren't many people when I went on a Sunday afternoon (2.30-4PM) and the 4/5 people that were there didn't feel safe enough to actually get into the waterfall cave since it genuinely felt overpowering and the water pressure and splashes against the rock walls was all encompassing. With only two steps in, I was completely drenched. I did go in all the way and take some photos which were great and it was an amazing experience. Whilst I was walking/wading through the water, I almost stepped on a long brown snake, it then swam into the water past my legs - scary but I guess this is nature and expected. Just look where you're stepping! I also walked to the other side towards the small waterfall + pool - and this was a nice way to feel refreshed. For the adventurers, I highly recommend visiting!!!

Is actually about 40min walk from the car park without the queue for buying tickets until the most beautiful part of the waterfall. The stairs are high steps, pathway to the waterfall is rocky, need to wade through waters as deep as upper thigh. (not suitable for elderly / unfit / people with balancing issues / knee pain). To be able to see the waterfall from beautiful angles just like the photos, you need to be physically fit and no heart attack histories. Really beautiful scenery as in photos on a sunny day. Hidden details of a long walk, not wheelchair or stroller friendly. Risks:- slip and fall because of slippery rocks, when it rains, higher water level unable to see where the rocks are.
Jevon C — Google review
Once you park your vehicle a the parking where there are souvenir shops, you have to walk and climb steps down atleast for 25-30 minutes to reach the waterfall. Once you the bottom of the valley , you can either go left to the waterfall that is shown on instagram or other side where you can bathe. When we reached the cave area, there was along line . People were going into the cave one by one, getting pictures clicked and coming back and then the next couple or person was going. I think we had to stand for 1 1/2 to 2 hours before our turn came. You cant bathe under the waterfall, it is too forceful. You can just get clicked there. We went in the evening around 4pm and our turn came around 5.30 or 6pm and it wasnt bright. Thats why i read somewhere that the best time to go is 10am in the morning. There are changing rooms, toilet and they also rent towels on charging basis.
Prachi C — Google review
Access to the waterfall is quite exciting and requires some physical fitness, as the stairs are steep and the steps are high, you also have to go through the water flowing from the waterfall, and you climb over rocks or crawl between rocks to reach your destination. The current of the river took one of my sandals with it, so I had to buy new sandals that were also sold near the waterfall...so this was not the first time, so be careful with your shoes when going to the waterfall because the current is strong. There are also places to eat there. It is worth going because the journey to it is already an experience in itself and of course the waterfall itself is worth seeing.
Juri H — Google review
Absolutely one of the most magical waterfalls in Bali! 🌿✨ Tucked inside a hidden canyon near Bangli, Tukad Cepung Waterfall feels like something out of a fairytale. The walk down takes about 10–15 minutes — a mix of stairs, rocks, and shallow river crossings — but every step is worth it once you reach the bottom. The waterfall sits inside a cave-like opening where the sunlight streams through the top, creating beautiful rays of light that dance in the mist. It’s a photographer’s dream — and even more breathtaking in person. Go early in the morning (before 10 a.m.) for the best light and to avoid the crowds. You’ll need to wade through ankle- to knee-deep water, so bring sandals or water shoes, and maybe a dry change of clothes if you want to stand under the falls. 💦 There are a few local stalls near the parking area selling fresh coconut water, snacks, and souvenirs, and the locals are always friendly and welcoming. Entrance is very affordable, and the area is kept clean and well maintained. The combination of nature, adventure, and tranquility makes it one of my favorite spots in Bali. If you’re exploring waterfalls like Tegenungan or Kanto Lamp, make sure to add Tukad Cepung to your list — it’s unique, peaceful, and truly unforgettable.

2 beautiful waterfalls. Very very pleasant clean, clear, cool water. 1 hour to and from the carpark. Fairly well maintained paths, lots of steep steps, clean toilets. Reasonable entry fee of IDR300k per person. No one touting or hard selling.
Doris T — Google review
A must visit place when you are in Bali. Though it seems artificial as it is handled so well but the fall is really so mesmerising and not so deep. A water shoes/crocks are highly recommended though there are so many shops who sells these items at good price. The entry charge is IDR 30000.00 irrespective of your nationality. There is a small waterfall as well and a swimming pool.

Besakih Great Temple, also known as Pura Besakih, is the largest and most important Hindu temple in Bali. Situated in the Karangasem regency with Mount Agung as its backdrop, this holy site features 23 temples, including the central Pura Penataran Agung Besakih and 18 companion temples surrounding it.
Besakih Temple is absolutely majestic...known as the Mother Temple of Bali, it’s the largest and most sacred temple complex on the island. Located high on the slopes of Mount Agung, it offers incredible views and a deep spiritual atmosphere. The place feels powerful yet peaceful, surrounded by misty mountains and ancient stone gates. Make sure to wear a sarong (you can find it at the entrance) and go early to enjoy the calm before the tour groups arrive. A must-visit to experience the true soul of Bali!
Souad Y — Google review
Besakih Temple is the largest Hindu Temple in the island of Bali, built on the slope of Mount Agung: to be precise it's a complex of 25 different but related temples. The entrance is marked by a "Candi Bentar", the famous split gateway that can be found all over Bali. Unfortunately when I visited there was bad weather so I couldn't enjoy the view of the surroundings. The temple itself is quite nice.
Francesco X — Google review
The temple itself is absolutely breathtaking — peaceful, grand, and well worth the visit. The views are stunning, and the site is truly a gem. However, the management and organisation seriously undermine the overall experience. The mandatory payment for a guide is completely pointless — the guide service adds no real value. In our case, the guide seemed far more interested in pushing us toward nearby shops offering photography services and souvenirs than actually explaining anything about the temple. When we firmly refused to buy or use any of those services, he simply left us mid-tour, and we ended up exploring the site on our own. The shuttle service from the entry point to the temple is another disappointment. It’s one-way only, which is not mentioned anywhere on the ticket — a very poor system, especially since the shuttles return empty after dropping visitors off. It’s a real pity because the temple and surroundings are magnificent, but the experience is overshadowed by poor management, lack of transparency, and unprofessional behaviour from the guides. I genuinely hope the authorities address these issues so that future visitors can enjoy this beautiful place without unnecessary frustration.

This Besakih Great Temple "Mother Temple" is such an amazing place.. The place itself is good but be careful from those people who will offer you to take a great pictures as the shot taken was not as nice as what we expect and they will ask you huge amount of money.. One guy offer us to take us our picture for 50,000IDR for 8 shots, then eventually ask 150,000IDR after the picture taking and the result was hilarious. The pictures I posted here is self captured not really proffesionally done but still better from those picture that was taken by the paid photographer. Overall the place was amazing and this is where you can appreciates indonesian culture.

Visiting Pura Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali, was an unforgettable experience. The complex is enormous and filled with history, spirituality, and breathtaking architecture. Walking through its many levels with Mount Agung rising in the background truly feels magical. What impressed me most was the atmosphere – it’s both deeply spiritual and welcoming. The views over the mountains and rice terraces are absolutely stunning, especially when the clouds move around the volcano. If you want to experience the heart of Balinese culture and spirituality, this is definitely a place not to miss.

Beautiful temple! I visit 11/19/25 the first day of Galungan. There was ample parking, no wait times, and a free tram up the hill. Though there was a lot of construction and solicitors, my guide and I were able to scale the hill where I took many pictures and learned about how the temples were organized.
L. A — Google review
This is the mother of all the Temples in Bali. Every sect in Bali has been allotted their own temple in and around this complex. We went.around 4pm so there were no tourists. Plus this place is being revered and worshipped by all the Hindus there so foreigners need to be mindful and respect their traditions. Guide is included as part of the ticket for foreigners. But guide may still expect some tips. It is optional but you xan use your own judgement and not yield to any pressure. There is also no need to buy offerings and you xan simply decline if you don't want to go their prayer place in the main temple. If you go late in the evening wait until you get sunset. The whole place is magical during sunset with zero crowd
Rengesh K — Google review
Large temple, very touristic but nice to see, for 150.000 you go with a guide and an electric shuttle bro gs you up the hill. During our visit (November) it is very quiet that why the are renovating parts off the temple. The guides inform you about history, they start to build at the year 800 till 1300 for the first part. Do not forget to have some money for tips (they ask for it 🙃) and the toilets or shops

Tirta Gangga is a serene spiritual retreat featuring stunning gardens and natural springs, offering opportunities for swimming and picnicking. The area surrounding Tirta Gangga is rich in tourist attractions, including the majestic Mount Agung, the Telaga Waja river for water rafting, the charming beach town of Candidasa, and the ancient village of Tenganan. Sidemen Valley is a hidden gem with beautiful rice fields, colorful markets, and a strong sense of community.
A peaceful and beautiful place, perfect for a relaxing visit. The gardens and water features are stunning, with spectacular views all around. There are some tourists, but it’s not overcrowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. While it’s possible to see everything in about 30 minutes, I highly recommend staying longer to truly enjoy the calm atmosphere and take in the peaceful surroundings. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful place located just off the road. Peaceful, colorful, and incredibly charming. A very vast area with many nooks and crannies that many people overlook. It's worth buying fish food at the local stalls. It's quite crowded, but the place is worth visiting for its unique charm. Paid parking is available on-site, with plenty of spaces. Restaurants serving good food and quick service are located both on-site and nearby, and prices are practically the same as everywhere else.

Tirta Gangga, the famous “Water Palace” in East Bali, feels like stepping into a dream woven from water, stone, and sunlight. Built by the royal family of Karangasem, this place is surrounded by lush gardens, clear ponds, and sacred springs that shimmer under the Balinese sky. 🌿 The stone paths float gently over the water, and as you step from one lotus-shaped stone to another, koi fish swirl gracefully beneath your feet. Every ripple feels alive — like time moves slower here. The sound of trickling fountains and the scent of blooming flowers make it a perfect escape from the world outside. There’s a quiet peace in this place — a balance between human art and nature’s beauty. You can sit by the pond, dip your fingers into the cool water, and feel a sense of calm that words can barely describe. It’s not just a sightseeing spot; it’s a place where your soul takes a deep breath. 🌸

This was an absolutely beautiful and historic location that feels like stepping into a living postcard. The grounds are impeccably kept, with vibrant plants and flowers adding to the serene atmosphere. There are endless opportunities for stunning photos, including the famous Instagram-worthy stepping stone area, which surprisingly did not have too long of a line even during the busy season. The small museum on-site was both informative and interesting, giving context to the rich history of the site. Visitors were respectful and courteous, which made the experience even more enjoyable. This is a must-see stop for anyone looking to enjoy Balinese culture, history, and breathtaking scenery all in one visit.

We visited Tirta Gangga as part of our East Bali Tour programme. This is a very well maintained and clean place, which was used as a former water palace. We learned it was named after the sacred river Ganges in India. You can hop on and walk on stones to cross the ponds. There are so many well-fed and big koi fishes in ponds that look lovely. We had also visited Ubud Water Palace before, Tirta Gangga is bigger than that so it was worth visiting. There is also a cafe & restaurant you can sit and relax.
Didem A — Google review
I visited Tirta Gangga and it was truly a sight to behold. This former royal water palace is incredibly scenic — a gorgeous blend of tranquil pools, flowing fountains, lush gardens, and traditional stone statues. Everywhere you turn feels like stepping into a postcard. The grounds are beautifully laid out, with stepping stones that take you across the water and let you wander right through the ponds surrounded by koi fish. It’s peaceful and elegant, with a charming, almost dream-like atmosphere that makes you want to take your time exploring every corner. Tirta Gangga is also full of photo opportunities. From the famous stepping stones to the ornate structures and beautifully landscaped gardens, there’s no shortage of stunning backdrops. Whether you’re looking for serene scenery or iconic Bali shots, you’ll definitely find them here. Overall, Tirta Gangga is a must-visit if you enjoy history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. It offers a perfect mix of calm, beauty, and just enough adventure as you hop stone-to-stone through the water. A truly picturesque stop and one of Bali’s most charming sites.

Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple

4.0
(12026)
Hindu temple
The Temple of Penataran Agung Lempuyang is a collection of Hindu temples located on a hillside, known for its iconic 'heaven' gate and stunning views of Mount Agung volcano. The complex consists of three main temples dedicated to Shiva, along with smaller temple groups. It hosts fifty-five different ceremonies annually, including the significant Betara Turun Kabeh during the full moon of the tenth month in the Balinese lunar calendar.
Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple – A Mixed Experience We scootered 2 hours from Canggu as first time Bali visitors to visit the famous Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple. The ride itself was scenic and enjoyable, especially as we got closer to the mountains. The temple is undeniably beautiful—rich in history and culture, with sweeping views that make the journey worthwhile on their own. What most people don’t tell you, though, is the reality of the photo situation. After paying for entry at the bottom, you’re assigned a number for the iconic “floating reflection” photo. What followed was a surprising 1–2 hour wait just to have your number called. Many visitors spend this time either relaxing or exploring the surroundings, but it’s definitely something to plan for if you're on a schedule. Once you're near the top, you'll likely be offered the chance to dress in traditional Balinese attire for an additional fee. The original price quoted to us was 750,000 IDR, but we negotiated it down to 500,000 IDR—though pricing may vary depending on your negotiating skills or timing. In the end, we decided not to wait for our photo turn and instead took in the atmosphere, architecture, and stunning views. Even without the Instagram-famous shot, it was still a memorable experience. If you're going primarily for the photo, just be prepared for the wait and some extra costs.
S L — Google review
This has sadly become the check box for your Bali trip. So much so like if you haven't taken those special photos at Lempuyang then your trip is incomplete. The peer pressure for social media acceptance is just unreal. The temple and the location is undeniably beautiful. The journey from Ubud or Kuta should take 2-3 hours respectively. However as you may have read in most of the other reviews; the only and only factor is the constant expenditure that you have endure in terms of entrance tickets, shuttle fare, snacks, water etc. The pictures that you see in the all the reviews are the same. There is hardly much to see around if you are going there for those photos. I just wonder who came up with that reflection trick in the first place. This phenomenon has transformed the photo clicking business across Bali. Now it is a multi-million dollar industry. Sarcasm aside; Lempuyang temple is worth visiting. The shuttle ride will be one hell of a roller coaster ride. You can admire the skill of the shuttle drivers on those steep slopes. Food and refreshment facilities are limited. You will need to spend money at the nearby shops for everything that you need while you wait for 2-3 hours for your turn.
Birat B — Google review
Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple is a stunning and culturally rich site, and it truly breaks my heart to give only 3 stars. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the grounds offer countless photo opportunities, including the world‑famous “Heaven’s Gate” view with the mountains perfectly framed behind you. The experience is very well organized with a fair system for guests, calling numbers for photo turns and providing a photographer who uses your phone and a mirror to create that iconic reflection effect. The reason for the lower rating is the wait. Unless you arrive by around 5 a.m., you can expect to wait anywhere from 2 to 6 hours for your turn at the main photo spot. For many visitors this makes the visit exhausting and limits the time you have to enjoy the temple itself. It is still worth seeing for the beauty and cultural experience, but the long wait keeps it from being the magical stop it could be.

This temple 🛕review is going to be a hit 🎯and miss 😖, here’s my honest review 📝. To get 🚶‍♀️to Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple 🛕, you firstly have to park at a common Carpark 🅿️. (See my pics 📸) At this common carpark, you will need to pay 💵 Rp$50,000 to take a bus 🚌up to the hill ⛰️top where the temple 🛕 is actually located. This is a very steep climb 🧗on a meandering road 🏘️, well over 2km, you cannot 🙈⛔️ possibly consider walking 🚶‍♀️🚶up with all the buses 🚌🚍🚎 running at full speed. You will be reminded at this point that women 👩🏻‍🦳👩🏼‍🦰👱🏼‍♀️within their menstrual cycle 🩸will not allowed 🚫 into the temple 🛕. (*With this in mind 🤨, if you are having your period, you can skip this visit completely. Do not contaminate consecrated ground 😔.) Once you get to the top 🔝, you will have to pay 💵 another Rp$70,000 to walk up to the temple. And that’s where they will tell you, in-order to take the famous picture 📸 of the Gates ⛩️ of Heaven, the wait time ⏳ is 2-3hrs.  The walk will take another 10mins from ticket counter to get to the top. Once you are at the top, you can collect a queue ticket 🎟️ and wait for your turn to be called 🗣️ on the loud 📣 speakers and have your photos taken at the gates ⛩️. In-between that, most people walk around, take more pictures and video 📹, or rent the traditional costume 🥻👘👗for another Rp$750,000. Thoughts 🧐 are … the view up there is truly breathtaking 😎. You will get a view like no other heading for miles and miles, it’s pretty amazing. 🌟✨⭐️ The Gates to Heaven will make a perfect IG photo opportunity and that is really beautiful too especially, if it is a clear ☀️ day and the mountain 🗻behind comes out clearly. However, the long wait is something to consider 🧐 and also that short climb from carpark 🅿️ to the temple main door is very steep 🎢 and I think it will present difficulties to the wheelchair 👩‍🦽‍➡️folks and also those with walking 🚷 difficulties.

Is a beautiful turist spot in Bali . You can’t coming here without visiting this Temple . But be prepared to wait in line for 1 1/2 to 2 hours to take the picture at tue beautiful doors with the Volcano behind.! Getting there is to a long trip because traffic is a nightmare in Bali . … but is a nice view and you quill not regret.!

Tourist Trap – Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple Getting here from Ubud takes about 2–3 hours. Once you arrive at the temple, you’re not allowed to drive up with your own car. Instead, you’re forced to take a shuttle bus, which costs 50k IDR per person. However, the shuttle doesn’t take you all the way up to the temple either—you’ll then be directed to motorbike taxis for another 20k IDR per person. You can walk instead, since the distance isn’t too far, but they’ll tell you it is just to convince you to pay. Entrance costs 70k IDR per person. Be prepared to pay for absolutely everything here, usually at prices about 70% higher than normal. For example, a simple bottle of water is 10k IDR. Even the toilets aren’t free, and in some cafés you might be told there are no toilets available at all. With your entrance ticket, you’ll receive a queue number to take photos at the famous “Gates of Heaven.” Waiting time for your turn can be anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. The view is indeed beautiful, but almost nobody actually takes the time to enjoy it—most people are here just to get photos for social media. If you’re genuinely looking to visit a historic temple, this is not the right place for you. The local people here are unfortunately not welcoming; in fact, some can come across as quite rude, seeing visitors only as a source of money. It feels like a poorly managed tourist trap rather than a spiritual site. Honestly, I would not recommend supporting it.
Adem A — Google review
Its a beautiful temple, no doubt. But felt like a tourist trap. If you want to snap your artificially mirrored picture of you at gates, its a long wait. I recommend going early. If you are lucky you can see the mountain behind the gates. It can get foggy and misty in the early hours. However, the queue system is well organised and everyone can go home happy with their Instagramable picture at the gates.
Ananth R — Google review
The gate to heaven— Lempuyang temple is the highest Hindu temple in Bali, the dwelling place of the guardian of peace. Only worshippers are allowed to go to the top. Generally you don’t have to wait for entrance. But you’ll have to wait a long long time if you want to get a photo with the famous gate. For me it was 3 hours and I arrived at 7am. But for me it was well worth it because it was raining so hard at first but the sky cleared up when it was my turn. Be sure to have a relaxed itinerary if you are aiming for a photo with the gate. The staff at the site will help with the photo at no additional cost, only donations.

Taman Ujung, also known as Soekasada Ujung Park, is a former water palace and gardens located in the village of Tumbu in Karangasem District, Bali. Built in 1909 and restored in 1963 after the eruption of Mount Agung, this scenic royal site features large pools, lush gardens, and historical photos. It is often referred to as the 'floating palace' due to its breathtaking beauty.
Beautiful gardens spread out across a spacious property. Not crowded like other popular destinations in Bali. Still some great photo spots. Colourful gardens. Serene water features. A view of the ocean. Very peaceful.

Taman Ujung Sukasada, often simply called Taman Ujung, is a captivating historical site and former royal water palace of the Karangasem Kingdom in East Bali. Unlike the pure Balinese style of many temples, this complex stands out with its unique and elegant blend of Balinese and European architecture, set across expansive lawns and large, serene pools connected by ornate bridges and pathways. It's a vast, peaceful location that functions more like a beautifully manicured historical park than an active place of worship. The key draw here is the phenomenal natural scenery, offering panoramic views of the entire complex, the shimmering ocean, and the majestic Mount Agung as a dramatic backdrop on a clear day, making it an absolute delight for photographers and a popular spot for pre-wedding shoots. While the entrance fee is sometimes noted as being slightly high for what is essentially a scenic walk, the tranquility and sheer scale of the palace grounds make it worth the trip, especially if you are seeking a quiet escape from the more crowded tourist hubs. For the best experience and photos, climb the impressive staircase leading to the upper viewpoint (Bale Kapal), which provides the most encompassing vista of the pools and the surrounding landscape. The best time to visit is during the golden hour in the late afternoon, as the setting sun bathes the entire site in warm, magical light, highlighting the intricate architecture and enhancing the peaceful atmosphere.

The highlight of my trip to Bali. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. The view is magnificent with a mixed view of garden, historic building, mountain and ocean. It is vast and very open feeling. Totally enjoyed every minute in it. Enjoying a fresh coconut under the tree makes you feel the true relaxation and happiness.

A hidden royal garden of peace and reflection in East Bali. Taman Ujung Water Palace is one of the most serene, elegant, and awe-inspiring places I’ve visited in Bali. Nestled in the quiet eastern region of Karangasem, it was built by the last King of Karangasem as a place for meditation and royal ceremonies — and you can still feel that sacred calm in every ripple of the ponds. 🌿 The palace complex stretches across wide grounds with bridges, archways, and perfectly aligned reflection pools. Every corner feels like a painting — water shimmering against white pavilions, mountain peaks in the background, and the ocean visible on the horizon. The blend of Balinese and European architecture gives it a timeless grace. Walking across the stone bridges feels like stepping into history. The reflections of the arches in the water create stunning symmetry, and you’ll find locals quietly sitting under trees or couples taking wedding photos surrounded by lotus blooms. It’s spacious, peaceful, and surprisingly uncrowded compared to other attractions. The best times to visit are early morning or late afternoon, when the light is soft and golden. Sunrise brings a gentle mist over the ponds, while sunset paints the palace in warm tones that make every photo glow. Bring water, a hat, and comfortable shoes — the grounds are large, and the stairs to the top viewpoint are steep but worth every step. From above, you get a panoramic view of the palace layout, the coastline, and even Mount Agung on a clear day. There’s a small café near the entrance where you can enjoy coconut water or Balinese coffee while watching the reflections on the lake. Entry tickets are affordable, and sarongs are provided if you’d like to explore respectfully near the shrines. What makes Taman Ujung truly special is its energy — a rare stillness that feels grounding and royal at the same time. It’s the kind of place where you can pause, breathe deeply, and feel connected to both nature and history. For travelers seeking something more peaceful than the usual tourist trail, this water palace is pure magic.

Beautiful place worth a visit. Vast gardens and intriguing history. Get a guide to complete the experience. It's amazing how old this place and still in commendable condition being so close to the sea.
Touge R — Google review
Beautiful water palace, with very few other visitors. Entrance was 100k each. Not a religious site, so no dress code. There are a couple of small cafes insides serving cold drinks - much appreciated. I had read online there is a 500k drone fee, but I asked a security guy once inside and he said "go ahead, no charge"

This is definitely a MUST visit place in East Bali. The place is incredibly beautiful and there is peace and quiet, where you can just walk or have a picnic. Also a beautiful place for a wedding, if it can be rented for that event. A place with a good view of the mountains and the ocean, a place where you can take beautiful photos of yourself or your partner.

Tenganan Pegringsingan Village

Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village, located in the east part of Bali, is one of the oldest traditional Balinese villages. It is renowned for its unique local community life pattern and cultural significance. This village stands out as an example of Bali Aga Village cultures and offers a more authentic experience compared to other touristy villages in Bali.
We left Tenganan Pegringsingan Village with a heart full of peace and admiration. This ancient Balinese village offers not only a glimpse into the island’s rich traditions and unique culture, but also a sense of serenity and authenticity that’s hard to find elsewhere. The people are incredibly warm and welcoming, and their pride in preserving centuries-old customs is truly inspiring. Walking through the narrow paths lined with traditional homes, watching the artisans weave double ikat textiles, and hearing the stories behind every ritual made the visit unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a deeper, more meaningful connection with the real Bali.
Armağan D — Google review
Tenganan Pegringsingan Village is a very unique and culturally rich place to visit. The traditional houses, weaving demonstrations, and overall atmosphere give you a real glimpse into Bali’s heritage. The villagers are welcoming but not pushy, which made walking around feel relaxed. One thing to note is that while the environment is generally well kept, I did notice a few spots with the smell of dog poop here and there, which can be a little distracting at times. It’s not overwhelming, but just something to be aware of while exploring the pathways. Overall, it’s worth visiting for the authenticity, history, and local crafts, definitely a highlight of the area, with just a few small things that could be improved for comfort.
Choirib M — Google review
Lovely cultural experience. When you arrive they ask you for a donation, this money goes towards the children's education and construction of the new temple. From what we saw, people donated roughly $50-100k, but it's up to you Once you donated, a guide (ours spoke excellent English) will take you through the village and explain their local customs, religion, and the significance of their culture to you. He'll take you to his house and offer you the chance to purchase their wares (our guide had a wife that weaves, so they offered us a chance to buy their heritage listed fabrics). You're not pressured to buy, though it's nice if you do. Overall the tour was very informative, the people were very friendly, and we ended up visiting the local honey farm too and buying some local honey while learning more about the black bees narrative to this region. Great way to learn more about the original inhabitants of this island and their culture.
Cynthia R — Google review
Amazing experience learning culture of original Balinese people here. It's quite an eye opening experience to see what the people here have to offer and their way of life. I like the entrance fee is based on donation instead of standard charge rate, it's earnest and doesn't make the village feel like money making zone. The locals are welcoming and friendly, they're willing to share their history and handcraft skills . It's amazing
Ifix T — Google review
A beautiful old village that's definitely worth a visit. Very peaceful. The beekeeper there invited us for a drink and some honey and told us a bit about his craft and bees. It's a memorable one.
Alex B — Google review
Extraordinary, ancient village. Many textile (Ikat) and antique shops. Teeming with chooks, dogs, cats and birds. Small donation on entry and QR code for self-tour. Really worth a look.
Megan M — Google review
With a small donation most people give around 100K, you get a local guide that walks you around the village. The tour takes about 1 hour and is informative about the history of the village and its culture. There is an opportunity to purchase items from the village if you wish.
S B — Google review
The truest Balinese village without Majapahit and other external influence. In my opinion, it is the most underrated authentic Balinese village that still exist and untouched. Look for Cobby, a young chap who is always passionate about his root and culture, for the best local guide and activities around the neighbourhood. Looking forward to trekking with him in my next visit.

Bali Asli Restaurant is a hidden gem nestled among the rice fields, offering authentic Balinese cuisine and cooking classes. The menu changes daily based on market availability and garden harvests, ensuring a traditional dining experience. With wood-fired mud brick stoves and picturesque views of Mount Agung, this restaurant provides an adventurous yet serene atmosphere for couples. Its location at the foothills of Mount Agung offers stunning vistas, making it a popular tourist spot despite slightly higher prices compared to other nearby eateries.
If you’re taking a day trip to Lempuyang Temple don’t miss the opportunity to have a Meal at this restaurant. What a gem of a traditional Balinese fine dining experience! Set in rice fields, with breathtaking views of Mt Agung, and a very cool chic open air restaurant. Penelope the chef/owner and her friendly team have created something truly unique, beautiful and not to be missed.

📍The restaurant is located in the east of Bali Island. In the Karangasem area. 🖼️🌴 It is located in a very picturesque place, in the middle of the jungle, with a stunning view of the mountains. P.S. The mountains will be visible if there are no clouds. All the furniture, decor, and interior design are made in a Balinese style, which is very authentic and beautiful. 🚽 A special feature of this restaurant is the toilet. The toilet itself offers a stunning view of the mountains🙃 📜 The restaurant's menu is designed in an unusual style. It's nice to have a lot of style in the little things. 🍛🍚 Food . Balinese restaurant. I really enjoyed everything I ordered. Beautiful presentation. 🧑‍🍳 The staff is very kind, friendly, and helpful. 🙏🏼 I recommend this restaurant if you want to try local Balinese cuisine. You will also enjoy the stunning views of the mountains (volcano) and the atmosphere, style, and local lifestyle. 🤗🫶

what a great experience! We found this restaurant by chance while visiting Tirta Gangga. The target group of this place is certainly not Indonesians, however it did not disappoint in terms of taste. It was simple enough to enjoy and not overly made to the point it was pretentious. Not something I would frequent, but it was a great place to bring overseas guests and introduce them to Balinese cuisine. Staffs were very friendly and the owner herself was present to serve some of the dishes, which I found was a nice little touch of detail.

We visited this restaurant for lunch one afternoon and there was literally no one else there. What a shame. The restaurant is so beautiful. Then it has such great view of the paddy field. They even have the bathroom with a view. The staff is so very nice. And the food is great. We even loved their menu. They have a whole asli Bali (real Bali) theme going on and they have taken it very seriously. Since I am vegetarian, they made all the balinese dishes vegetarian for me. It was so very kind of them. While you are waiting for the food, they serve you rice flour chips with such tasty chutney, you would just want to eat those and nothing else.

This place is outstanding. The local food is prepared with love using very fresh ingredients. The lovely owner greeted us upon arrival and explained all of the beautiful food we would have. Warung Lu Putu is a charming restaurant located in the village of Mendira, just a short distance from Candidasa town. The bright orange walls and pretty garden create a delightful ambiance for enjoying a variety of dishes, including local, seafood, Asian, and bar options. However, the standout dish is the crispy duck, known for its perfectly crispy skin and juicy meat infused with traditional Balinese spices. Guests have praised the restaurant for its great quality food made with fresh ingredients and an inviting atmosphere.
Got a great dining experience in Warung Lu Putu. It's not very busy when I've had lunch there, but better make a reservation . They serve Indonesian/ Balinese popular menu, western and sorbet- gelato.the service was good, the food was great and it's kinda ' dining in the garden's vibe. Definitely will come back.

Disappointing Experience The atmosphere in this restaurant is not very inviting—it feels more like a school cafeteria than a cozy dining spot. The food is average at best, nothing special, and the service is slow and not particularly friendly. The only positive thing is that they serve complimentary peanuts when ordering alcohol, but that’s a common practice in most places. Wouldn’t recommend.
Evgenia Z — Google review
Such a lovely Warung- more like a restaurant with a nice ambience and Balinese architecture. They found us a table for dinner at very short notice and sent a driver to pick us up from our hotel in record time. The Nasi Campur is very yummy and I enjoyed the Pepes Ikan too. I highly recommend the Dadar Gulung as dessert and it was very tasty.

The best lunch places for authentic Balinese cuisine, with pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff who are very welcoming and also speak English. Very clean restroom. Blue Lagoon Beach is a serene resort with villas surrounded by gardens, featuring a spa, pool, and a restaurant/bar overlooking the sea. Located on the east side of Bali islands, it's about 1.5 hours from Kuta by car but well worth the drive. The beach is a hidden paradise and a top spot for snorkeling enthusiasts due to its clear waters and rich coral reefs teeming with colorful fish.
Parking 2k idr Snorkelling set rental fee from the shop nearby 75k idr The corals are thriving, fishes are a lot, we saw some gamat and eels as well. Just make sure not to step on corals since it's quite shallow. There are some rubbing near the shore which can dampen the mood, but the fishes made up for it.
Izz B — Google review
Turns out as a gray or green lagoon? LOL! I don't know, you be the judge. Could be due to the gloomy cloudy weather when I arrived, but as far as I know, a lagoon color should not be affected very much by the daylight, unless extreme weather maybe. The beach was not enticing at all, with rubbish all over. There was heavy raining the day before till the morning so I'll give this blue lagoon claim a benefit of doubt. We stayed for a while and left without entering the water because the wave looks rough. Worth a visit? Definitely not. Still want to visit? Than better wait for nice sunny weather.
John T — Google review
The beach is small, but with light sand. The waves are strong, the water is a beautiful color, but since the port is located right behind the cape of the lagoon, at some point there was a lot of debris and muck floating in the water that was thrown overboard from tourist ships or elsewhere, and this made swimming in this place unpleasant. An interesting fact was that tourists book a snorkeling package on the other side of the cape, which is actually just a hill climb away, and then they are brought a few dozen meters around the cape to the lagoon to snorkel, when at the same time you could walk for 15 minutes and then rent a snorkeling gear on the lagoon and do it yourself there 😀. Is this a place where you can ride a scooter for 45 minutes...then the answer is no, it didn't make me feel like I would make such a trip again.
Juri H — Google review
A small lagoon that could be so good if looked after, but sadly is being used and not maintained. A short walk (think meters) from Padang Bai up a steep tarmac slope and down a flight of rough steps. Parking at the top 2K for bikes, 5k for cars. The small bay has a couple of bars that rent out snorkelling equipment (60k for fins, mask, snorkle). The beach is as rubbish strewn as the path down to the bay and sadly this rubbish is floating around the reef. It is only a small area of reef which is basically in the bay you can see. The water was clear when we were there, just with a haze of bits floating around. As you enter the water from the beach there are a few strong waves but as soon as you are past them it becomes easy to paddle around. The reef is not deep and easy to dive down. There are an OK range of fish to see, probably more for beginner snorkellers. A few interesting corals in different colours. An hour is probably all you to need to fully explore the reef.
Paul T — Google review
The views from 1B are gorgeous. Otherwise you need to appreciate a rustic experience. Eg. Showers outside (privacy protected or course) water lukewarm, if it's pouring and you don't like mixing cool rain water with shower, then it's a problem.
M S — Google review
Stopped by on the way—parking was 2k, which is standard. The beach itself was average and a bit messy. I didn’t snorkel, so I can’t comment on that, but on the day I visited the water looked more green and grey than blue. To be fair, the weather was cloudy, so it might look much better on a sunny day."

I love this place so much. My family and I were there in about 2024. We booked 2 tents: 1 VIP and rhe other was Deluxe. Pros - plenty of parking space - plenty of bathrooms - stunning Seaview - perfect for gathering - enjoyed the sunset cruise using fisherman boat - the Virgin beach is beautiful Cons - lots of staircases from parking lot - only instant snack available in the warung - a bit far to get proper foods e.g. Cafe, restaurant etc. - poor internet connection, sometime no service at all Note: I currently heard that investor would take over the hill and build a resort, which is a pity

Not a particularly spectacular camping spot. It is clean, terraced and has a view of the cliffs. You can still see the sunset here, but you can't see the sunrise. If you want to experience it, you should go to the viewing point about 80m further towards the beach. There you will wake up with the sunrise in your window.

We went camping up on Asah Hill in Karangasem. The view is so pretty; you can see the sea and a small island from the tent opening. I’d suggest to book the camp first through whatsapp you can search for their instagram. The village manages the camp rental, offering a few options. The medium camp with a spring bed is only 250k, the Dome camp is more pricey around 440k. They provide wifi, electricity, firewood, public bathrooms, and showers. They also have a small warung in case you're hungry or want to buy coffee. One thing you have to try is watching the sunrise from 5:30 AM- 6:30 AM, the sun is red and very tranquil. See my time-lapse video below. Such a beautiful place & loving the experience.

I had such a lovely experience at the jewelry-making class in Sidemen. I went with my boyfriend and his family, and we all truly enjoyed it. The setting was peaceful and beautiful—perfect for getting creative and relaxed. The staff was incredibly kind and patient, guiding us step by step as we made our own pieces. I’m so happy with the jewelry I created; it turned out beautiful and holds so much sentimental value. Highly recommended if you’re in Bali and looking for a meaningful and unique activity!

We had the best time making rings to remember our trip to Sidemen! The staff were all so friendly and informative, it was in a beautiful setting, great atmosphere and overall a really fun activity to do. There were so many nice design options to choose from, making it difficult to choose. I 100% recommend going here if you're considering it - just make sure you're ready for a bit of a work out!

Great Silver workshop in a lovely spot near a river. Family business with lovely staff. I said I wanted a turtle pendant and they were very helpful. The master silver smith with 40 years experience was very patient and helpful. It was very interesting and I got a lovely souvenir to treasure.

They are the best!! It’s a family-run business in a beautiful place. We went with an idea in mind and they made it come true. They helped and guided us through the whole process. A very fun workshop, and you also get to take home a memory for life. The rings are beautiful, made with so much love. Thank you so much for everything!!!
Mar Z — Google review
This silver class experience was absolutely wonderful. I came here with my mum and we made our own rings together — such a special memory. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the workshop is set in a stunning location, right by the river near the iconic yellow bridge in Sidemen. It’s actually my second (or third!) time coming — once with my partner, now with my family — and the experience is always amazing. The restaurant on-site is also great: tasty local food, super affordable, and such a relaxed vibe. If you’re visiting Sidemen, this place is a must. Highly recommended!
Nicolas L — Google review
Absolutely loved our DIY silver ring-making experience here! The sweetest family runs this place and they are so warm, friendly, and passionate about what they do. They guided us step-by-step and let us craft our rings from scratch, which made it super fun and personal. Such a unique and heartwarming memory to take home from Bali! It was 300,000 IDR (~₹1,500) per person for 7g of silver and 100% worth every bit!
Denver G — Google review
A fantastic experience and a true family run business. 300k each (around £13.80) which includes around 7-8g silver per person. There are at least 200 different designs of rings, bracelets and pendants to choose from. They explain the process and assist throughout. There is a lovely little warung next door with a fab view of the river and the famous little yellow bridge, we visited twice during our three day stay in Sidemen. The experience lasted around 60-80 minutes and we stopped afterwards for a drink overlooking the river. I had lost a small earring and they made one for me without charge, just as a king gesture and even fitted it for me because it was fiddly! A really lovely experience and I would very much recommend :)
Lianne M — Google review
If you’re looking for a truly authentic and meaningful experience in Bali, the Sidemen Silver Class is an absolute gem. Located by the Yellow Bridge in the peaceful village of Sidemen, this family-run workshop has been crafting silver rings by hand for over 45 years, making it one of the very first in the area. Every detail of the experience feels deeply rooted in tradition and care. We had the chance to meet Made, the heart behind the project, who lovingly explained the story of his family business and guided us step by step through the ring-making process. His warmth and passion made everything even more special. This isn’t just a souvenir workshop, it’s a chance to create something with your hands, connect with local culture, and take home a beautiful silver ring filled with memories.

Gembleng Waterfall is a popular tourist spot in East Bali, located specifically in Sidemen, Karangasem Bali. It has gained fame among tourists for its three multilevel infinity rock pools, making it very Instagram-worthy. The drive to the waterfall offers stunning views of local villages and landscapes. Nestled within lush tropical jungle, Gembleng Waterfall boasts cascading levels of water that provide picturesque views of Sidemen.
I liked it. It's easy to reach, following Google Maps. The streets partly a little rough. Drive carefully. It wasn't too crowded on a Friday early afternoon. The way up is OK. Not too many stairs. Maybe 100+/-. Lay in in one of the pools or enjoy the great view in the restaurant on top. For entry, as many here wrote, donate between 20-50K. It's worth.
Andy E — Google review
The stairs are quite high (typical Balinese steps), but totally worth it – the views are stunning! At the entrance you give a small donation, and there’s also a little restaurant with local prices, cheap and really good food. Definitely recommend coming here!
Anna C — Google review
Decent waterfall with multiple levels to get into the water. When we went in late Aug the water flow wasnt strong as rainy season was yet to kick in full force. I am sure the water flow will pick up rapidly in late September and October. The cafe on the top is decent. Good to have a nice beer or light snack after the climb or a dip in water :)
Suresh K — Google review
This waterfall is AMAZING! There is plenty of moto parking and a donation stand to enter. You have to climb many steps, but the views are worth it. There are various levels and small pools you can get in and great spots for photos. The restaurant at the top has an amazing view and toilets. There is a “shower” - water from the fall by the parking lot. Highly recommend it!
Carolina B — Google review
I went to visit Gembleng Waterfall as my last stop on my private tour in East Bali before settling in Sidemen. There were many parked vans, cars and motorbikes when I arrived so it made me think that the queue to take a picture in the "waterfall pool" would be massive, but to my surprise, there were only 2 couples before us. There were quite a few stairs to walk up/down but not as much as some other waterfalls I've already visited. There were changing rooms near the carpark as well as up near the restaurant (higher/further up the stairs past the "pool"). The water was refreshing and clean. Saw a few frogs around too :) Entry was by donation and I paid 20k.
Svetlana P — Google review
Surprisingly cool waterfall. Go to the very top the view is worth it! You can bath there. You can pay a donation to enter (no official ticket needed). Come early or late to skip the tourists (we went at 17-18 o clock, perfect sunset setting!)
Tobias G — Google review
First of all, really good view from the top of the waterfall. Second of all, it's perfect to just soak in the water and enjoy the breeze. The waterfall itself is not really spectacular in anyway, otherwise this place would be a 5 star
Jeffriyono S — Google review
Beautiful waterfall. We got there around 7:30 and were one of the only ones there. More people were arriving as we left. Nice viewpoint and warung at the top. The best pool for swimming is at the top while the middle two pools are more for instagramming.

Warung Tirta Unda, situated on Sidemen Street in Sangkan Gunung Telaga Tawang, Bali, is a top dining spot offering delectable local and Asian cuisine with a variety of vegan options. Nestled in an authentically Indonesian location with stunning jungle views, this restaurant provides an exceptional culinary experience at affordable prices. Visitors praise the authentic Surinamese/Javanese roots reflected in the dishes and the warm, homecooked meal vibe.
This Warung was the best we've tested in 3 days in Sidemen. 👌 At least one where dishes were tasty 😋 Good prices for a good quality. Special mention for the Dadar Gulung ! The piseng goreng were very good too !

Delicious food in a lovely calm setting. We recommend the Balinese curry and fried banana for dessert. Thank you to the staff for a great lunch!

We had fried rice with tofu and vegetables as well as fried rice with chicken – both were super delicious! For dessert, we had pancakes, which were also really good. The owners were incredibly friendly, and we felt very welcome and comfortable. Absolutely recommended!

The villa owner took me to this small, family-run local restaurant near where I’m staying, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip! The food is hands down some of the best Balinese dishes I’ve ever had. Their gado-gado is absolutely to die for—so good that I asked for a second serving of the sauce! 😋 The flavors are rich, fresh, and beautifully balanced. While the menu isn’t huge, they offer great vegetarian options, and they do them really well. Most meals are around IDR 40,000, which makes it super affordable! I also fell in love with their lemongrass tea—refreshing, aromatic, and the perfect complement to the meal. Thank you to the lovely family for your friendly service and delicious meals. This place truly feels like a home away from home. Highly recommended!

Radha Warung in Sidemen is a stunning and growing spot that offers traditional and delicious Balinese food. The well-cooked dishes are prepared fresh by lovely local cooks, providing an authentic experience. Visitors rave about the seafood curry, grilled fish, and delightful desserts like dadar gulung. The owner's hospitality adds to the enjoyable dining atmosphere. With its beautifully landscaped terrace, this eatery is a must-visit for those seeking genuine Balinese cuisine in a tranquil setting.
Best food of my trip. The dadar gulung is INCREDIBLE! And their healthy tea is amazing! They presented us with a passion fruit straight from the garden for dessert which was so cute and definitely the sweetest passion fruit I’ve ever tasted!

Thank you so much for everything! The family team is so kind :) The food is excellent, I had the mix of seafood with spices and rice, yesterday and today because it was so good I wanted to feel it twice 😅 Same for the dessert, grilled bananas! Thank you for your patience with all my questions about ingredients with all my intolerances, it is very very rare when I can enjoy a dessert! And thank you for the passion fruit from your tree! 🫶

Always a good time at Radha Warung! The owners have done such an awesome job building this space. The place is beautifully designed and it was nice to be here with nice relaxing traditional Balinese music. We went here twice and it was really delicious food each time. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch Ketut to have a good chat with and make you his strong and delicious arak cocktails😍 We would look forward to coming back here over our next Sidemen visit🥰

Standout in Sidemen. The food was very flavourful; as we had the Ayam Kare and Ikan Pepes. We also had the Soto Ayam, everything was delicious! You can see the owners take a lot of pride in their restaurant, and the service is second to none. To make things even better; after our meal they gave us fresh passion fruit direct from their garden! Can’t wait to come back when we are in Sidemen again.

The food here is absolutely beautiful. The only issue we had was that there were only 2 other tables eating yet our food took over 45 minutes to arrive. Atmosphere would’ve been better if there was no screaming child, not the restaurants fault just unfortunate timing. The staff are friendly and accommodating

Nice warung in a beautiful setting. While it doesn’t have the rice paddy views, the garden is very tranquil. Lovely staff and tasty food. We had the vegan options of gado gado (without egg), vegetable spring rolls and Tempe curry. It took a little while to come, but everywhere is like this in sidemen - everyone is relaxed. I recommend the healthy tea as well.

Astawa Warung is a delightful culinary gem nestled near Jl. Raya Candidasa in Sengkidu, Karangasem, Bali. This charming eatery has recently reopened its doors and is already making waves among locals and visitors alike. The menu features an array of Asian and Indonesian dishes that are crafted with love by the owner and his wife, who also provides warm service to guests.
Amazing food, big portions , great prices . Clean ,fresh , lovely staff. The best food we had in Candidasa. Will be back

Very nice place in Candidasa. We love it. Indonésian foods are amazing. Staff is so friendly and nice. Thank you for a nice time we spent here.

The food quality is excellent. I visited a few times and everything was always very fresh. The service is exceptional and very observant. On my last night I had the special duck and it was phenomenal!! The Balinese style stuffing and the crispy perfectly cooked tender meat was to die for. The only bitter aftertaste was the 17% service charge and tax. Just include it in your menu prices.
Hardy E — Google review
Astawa Warung is located about 50 meters from our hotel and has been a great find. The menu offers plenty of local Balinese/Indonesian dishes as well as other Asian options. Portion sizes are surprisingly large. Prices are much cheaper than at the hotel — not the cheapest on the island, but absolutely worth it for what you get. The food is really delicious. If you want a more authentic local taste, tell them to add more spice. By default, the flavor is slightly adjusted for tourists and made milder. Service is very friendly and fast. We have eaten here several times and plan to come back again. Highly recommend trying the duck, but you need to order it a day in advance — definitely worth it. Keep in mind: the warung is located right by the roadside, so there is some traffic noise. Most warungs in this area are set up the same way, so it’s part of the experience. Bonus: from here you can also ask for “taxi” service. The local guys can take you by scooter to places where tourists normally wouldn’t go — all for a very reasonable price. Overall, a great place if you want real local flavors, good portions, and fair prices. Recommended.

Mt Batur is a volcanic mountain in Bali, Indonesia, known for its challenging hikes to the summit and the picturesque villages and lake at its base. The main attraction is the stunning view of its caldera and Lake Batur, which fills a large part of it. Visitors can also enjoy the winding road along the lake shore to explore nearby attractions like Toya Bungkah, Pura Ulan Danu Batur, and hot springs.
Breathing sunrise. But the hiking is very hard and you need to have good physical fitness. If not you can choose jeep or motorbike. But they only go to certain height. And you might need to get a jacket because the place is very cold. You can rent them before hike dtart. View is amazing and our guide helped us a lot to ho to the top of the mountain.
Manul M — Google review
We started the hike to Batur with our guide at 3am. The hike was 2 hours and very easy. The sunrise at the top was magical. The view is really breathtaking. You can see the lake, Agung and even the sea. We cooked eggs with the hot steam of the vulcano for breakfast. Recommend you to do this hike!
Armon — Google review
It was a wonderful adventure. We got up extra early to drive there. Met our local guide and started the hike while it was pitch black. The hike was moderately easy. Not as difficult as I was led to believe. Our guide was not only an exceptional guide but also a wonderful photographer. He took amazing pictures and knew all the great spots. He brought us to the top without getting us winded and with well spaced breaks. The breakfast he gave us was very simple but we had fun. The monkeys came and ate the leftovers. Monkeys were all friendly. The views were absolutely breathtaking. We were all in awe of the volcanic steam. This was by far the best experience we had in Bali. 10/10 recommended!

Funny hiking and worth for the first sunlight as the trail not too much incline to make climbers can rest often. At the top there are a lovely wooden benches for those couple and group to sit together and there are small kiosk for drink and snacks. The best highlight is the monkey and doggy.

This is a really touristic attraction, and usually I don't like to go in over-crowded and over-hyped places... but in this case I'm glad I did it. I wanted to do it with my girlfriend alone, without a guide, but I saw on other reviews that we would probably face harassments from locals if we chose this option, and I didn't want to stress...so we booked the guide with our Cottage for 500k: we did the long trekking (with black lava), not only the standard one, finishing with the Hot Springs included (in that day there were no flies and we could really really relax in the splendid hot water. We started around 3:30 AM and reached the top just before sunrise. The view is totally worth it! And the warm breakfast made the experience even better. TECHNICALITIES: It's cold. But when you start to move you warm up (I did it with shorts and t-shirt no problem)... but on top is cold again while you wait for the sunrise. Take something warm with you or practice some Kapalabati breathing ;) The road is crumbly but if you go slow it's okey... it takes 1:30-2 hours in total to reach the peak. If you do the full tour like us, it's 5 hours. Toilette in nature. Pay attention to the monkeys...they can look into your bags for food.
Denis H — Google review
Climbing Mount Batur for the sunrise was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had in Bali. We woke up at 3:30 AM and drove from the hotel to a meeting point, where we switched to a jeep for the adventurous ride up the mountain. The sunrise view was breathtaking — many tourists even sit on their car roofs just to watch the first light over the volcano. It’s very cold in the early morning (even in summer), so be sure to bring a jacket, sweater, or shawl. The organizers also provide breakfast and hot tea, which was really nice. The cost was about IDR 200,000 per person (each jeep seats 4 people). After the sunrise, we also visited Black Lava Gunung Batur Rest Area and the unique black lava fields. The volcanic rocks and dramatic landscape made the experience unforgettable. Overall, Mount Batur is a must-visit adventure in Bali — the combination of sunrise, volcano views, and black lava makes it absolutely worth it.

Amed Beach is a serene destination with its distinctive black volcanic sand and stunning views. It is surrounded by charming restaurants and cafes, offering a perfect setting for relaxation. The beach is located about 9 km from the Amed tourist attraction, nestled amidst picturesque villages and hills. Visitors can witness breathtaking sunrises over Mount Rinjani and enjoy the natural beauty of the hill valley at Lahangan Sweet Karangasem.
Absolutely the best place for snorkeling and scuba diving. The water is clear and you are surrounded by gorgeous choral and thousands of fish! This laid back town in Bali is a must visit!
Deborah S — Google review
Cool and clearish water. Waves are calm but pick up quickly in a storm. There are loads of boats parked on the sand so you have to manoeuvre around them which can be very annoying, especially in the high tide. Absolutely stunning views of Mt Agung during clear sky’s, and there are lots of great local warungs along the beach

Not much beach during high tide and it's a little shameful that the people litter so much but a great area for diving and snorkeling.

We're in a new place - on the east coast of Bali, in Amed. Amed is quiet, almost deserted, and perfect for escaping the noise. Among tourists, we've met only a few couples and families. It's a very charming place - I fell in love with it right away. But staying here turned out to be quite challenging: everyone seems to know everything about everyone, and every step attracts attention. Since almost nothing happens here, people seem to entertain themselves this way. There are endless questions - from everyone, everywhere. Even the villa check-in form asked: Where are you from? Where are you going next? Amed is small, observant, curious — but still, it has its own warmth and quiet truth. #Amed

Not too shabby, plenty of nice coral and life to see, especially around the sunset point cliff area. Gets very deep quickly, but plenty to see in the shallows, explore the black sandy area, especially at night for cryptic critters. Dolphins also come through. Lots of rubbish.. sigh

It's supposed to be a new hotel. Mould in the bathroom. Hot water ran out after 40 seconds. The staff have no experience and unable to assit in anything else than what the hotel.offers. they tried to charge us for breakfasts when it was included in price. We paid for a family room, 2 adults, and 2 children. and there was inly a gueen bed and a sofa. The toilet leaked so the bathroom floor was always wet and slippery. Tiny breakfast. Upper floors around pool and restaurant. Empty bottles and dishes laid around. And never picked until the next morning. We always had to ask for service as the staff just had in the kitchen. We will never return.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Japanese Ship Wreck Point is a fascinating diving spot located in shallow waters near the shore. The World War II-era Japanese shipwreck is now adorned with corals and has become a habitat for various marine creatures such as scorpionfish, nudibranchs, and reef fish. However, divers should be cautious of strong currents. Snorkeling and free-diving are popular activities here due to the wreck's easy accessibility from the beach.
This is a great snorkelling spot!! If you're in Amed, you must go. A variety of colourful corals and fish are just 10m off shore!! Even a beginner snorkeller like me and my 11 yo child could do it easily and enjoy the "view." We saw younger kids enjoying it as well😊 Looks like you normally need to pay at the entrance, but it comes with a drink or sth at the warung on the beach (it's a stone beach, btw). You can also rent snorkelling gear and waterproof camera there. We rented one camera and one set of fins with IDR 225,000. We think it was a good deal. They said they'd give us the data via WhatsApp. Oh, maybe ask the staff at the warung for the entering point. Depending on the current, the entering point will differ.
ぺトロ潤子 — Google review
Do not enter the beach with "main" entry. They charge money for entering, but when you drive a bit more south (not more than 1min). You can enter the beach for free (see photos) and you can also park the motorbike there (also in the photo). Shipwreck itself can be easily accessed from the beach so if you have a motorbike there is no reason to pay for the boat trip. Visibility is better in the morning until 10am. It's nice to see how nature took over man made thing. Nothing special, but imo worth visiting if you have spare time.
Vladimir H — Google review
Great little snorkel spot, close to the beach but it did have a bit of current past the shipwreck so be careful. It’s 25k per person to get in and that includes: parking, 1 free drink (got watermelon juice), seating, shower and toilet. Great deal and the staff were super friendly. Only negative was it’s a rocky entrance so if you have booties that’s best but it’s worth the entrance/exit.
Barry D — Google review
Despite some reviews from a week ago mentioning a lot of trash, today there was none. It seems fair to say that the trash issue depends on currents, weather, and pure luck, not the place itself. The underwater world is amazing, and there was zero current. The coral is stunning. We were lucky: only a few boats around, so swimming was very comfortable — but again, that’s probably a matter of season and luck. About the 25k entrance fee: we didn’t pay it. We parked for free a few meters before the checkpoint and walked down. I don’t recommend going there by boat. The number of boats kills the vibe, and honestly, the shipwreck is just 10 meters from the shore - no boat needed at all.
Ga 4 — Google review
Great spot! The shipwreck is located near the Indonesian flag, so it’s easy to find. I wouldn’t recommend paying for the “diving tours” though — it’s really just a tourist trap. They only take you down 4–5 meters, but honestly, snorkeling here is more than enough. The water is clear, you can dive down a couple of meters on your own, and still see everything perfectly. Locals charge 25,000 IDR per person for access, but a very kind lady explained how to swim around the wreck and where exactly it is. If you don’t want to pay the entrance fee, you can also access the beach from another entry point.

Beautiful spot for 🤿. A bit crowded, but still easy to see everything. Cool place with rent point, shower and toilets. Ticket includes a drink 🥃

Wonderful snorkeling spot if you avoid crowds. Pay 25k at the entrance and get excellent place to chill, have a drink (included in the ticket price) and rent a snorkel gear.
Matej M — Google review
This is my first time snorkeling here in the wreck. The wreck is small but beautiful. Its not far from the shore. Its perfect to bring kids. There is no current at all when I'm visiting.. The water is so clear. Also surround the wreck there are beautiful corals. So so beautiful. I spend more than 2 hours here. Also there is a local warung that you can dine in. The food is very cheap yet very good. We ordered Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng for the kids. Definitely will be back!

Lahangan Sweet is a must-visit local gem located in Bajar Gulinten, Bunutan Karangasem. It offers stunning views of Mount Agung and the surrounding natural beauty. The viewpoint provides nearly 360-degree panoramas stretching from Lombok to Mount Batur. Visitors can take memorable photos at the gates with mirror images and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
What to say, simply perfect. Yes is a place only to take photos, but the view is amazing. I went quite early in the morning (around 9:30) and there was almost no one. The fee is 100k which is a little bit high but for the parking, the shuttle up and down and the view is was more than worthy! I was also extremely lucky with the weather, I would say it’s always better to go in the morning since around lunch and after the weather starts to be bad (clouds and rain)
Giulia D — Google review
A Breathtaking Hidden Gem - Absolutely Worth It! Lahangan Sweet is an absolute hidden gem and worth every rupiah of the 100,000 IDR entrance fee (plus a small 3,000 IDR for scooter parking). We highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for stunning, unobstructed views without the massive crowds of other more famous viewpoints. The main attraction is the spectacular panoramic view of the majestic Mount Agung. The landscape is simply breathtaking. What makes it even better is that it wasn't crowded at all. We arrived in the morning and there were only 4-5 other couples, which made the experience feel private and peaceful. For an additional 50,000 IDR, you can pay a local photographer for the iconic mirror reflection photo with Agung in the background. This might be an excellent investment to get a perfect, professional-looking shot without having to wait in a long queue for hours, which is often the case at other popular photo spots in Bali. Is definitely a better option than Lempuyang Temple! If you want impressive photos and a serene atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle, Lahangan Sweet is the perfect choice. A highly recommended highlight of our trip

The best. Mount Agung view was majestic and extraordinary. The visit is worth trust me. The staffs were friendly and took multiple photos of us. We simple spent some time in the bean bag there with a view. A treat to your eyes. When you are in Amed. Don’t think about it twice just go there. The road was good, we travelled all the way with our scooter. The mirror shot of gate heaven is beautiful which is as same as Lempuyang Temple which I totally skipped and spend the entire afternoon here. Must go place if you are in east bali.

Traveling during the rainy season has its perks — hardly anyone around, which made the experience feel extra special. Getting here was quite the journey: narrow, winding, and steep roads that tested my driver’s driving skills, but once we arrive… wow. The views are absolutely breathtaking! The local staff are incredibly friendly and talented — they know all the best photo angles and poses “Look up! Cross your legs! Now turn around!” It was such a fun and memorable part of the visit, and they work on a donation basis, which felt very fair for the amazing shots they took. At the top, there’s a small warung where you can grab drinks and food, and the bathroom facilities were clean and well maintained. Highly recommend if you're up for a bit of adventure and want to enjoy stunning scenery without the crowds!

Lahangan Sweet is quite far from Denpasar city. I recommend going by car with strong gears, as the road up can be challenging. Before reaching the spot, visitors need to take a jeep – it’s best to use the jeep service as hiking up can be very tiring. Once at the top, the view is absolutely stunning, with Mount Agung as the backdrop. It’s truly worth it for the photos and the overall experience. For Muslim visitors, prayer facilities are limited. You can request water from nearby food vendors for ablution and perform your prayers at one of the small huts available. Overall, despite being far from Bali city, Lahangan Sweet is definitely worth visiting for its breathtaking scenery. The guides here are also very helpful, often offering to be your personal photographer. Basic facilities like toilets and small food stalls are available, although sometimes the shops may be closed.
Azfar H — Google review
This is honestly worth the trip if you are in the area. You don’t need a fancy scooter, the roads are perfectly fine… it is a steep ride with a few pots holes and there are hairpin turns but nothing dangerous if you are careful. There was cloud coverage over Mount Agung when I visited but it was still very scenic on both sides with the view down to Amed and sea beyond being particularly pretty. I paid 3k at the bottom and another 100k at the top. A little on the expensive side for Bali.
S J — Google review
Lahangan Sweet is definitely worth the visit. It’s not overcrowded, which makes the experience peaceful and relaxing. Located a few hours’ drive from Ubud, it takes some effort to get here, but the view of Mount Agung and the surrounding landscape is absolutely stunning. There are professional photographers on site to help capture amazing shots. A calm and beautiful spot for unforgettable photos and moments.
Yasser R — Google review
A hidden gem in Bali! Lahangan Sweet is a beautiful viewpoint tucked up in the mountains. It’s not as crowded as other spots, which makes the experience even better. We tried the swing for 100K and also got reflection-style photos, both were amazing. The views are stunning and perfect for Instagrammable shots. Definitely worth the trip!

Nestled in the Karangasem regency of East Bali, Virgin Beach Karangasem is a secluded and unspoiled destination perfect for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. Accessible via a scenic drive through lush landscapes and rural villages, this beach offers clean white sand, clear waters for swimming or surfing, and plenty of food stalls without being crowded.
Virgin Beach or White Sand Beach is located in Karangasem, Bali featuring it's soft powdery white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, lush green backdrops and serene coastal vibe. Peaceful cove-like setting with surrounding green hills. Hidden gem quality. Entrance fee 10.000/person for local/KITAP and 15.000/foreigner. Free parking. There is clean toilet and shower. Sunbed for rent 100.000/2 beds with umbrella. Small cafes and warungs. You can also find beachside massage and camping option on the Bukit Asah. Access road can be narrow, uneven, and steep. This beach is ideal for people looking for quiet, peaceful, fewer crowds than Bali's mainstream beaches.

Just a Beach! White sand, no stones and wild waves. (Careful with the currents) Full of beach house to rent sunbeds. - Around 100k 2 bed / 1 umbrella. Don’t stay at the very beginning. Go for a walk and chose the one that looks best to you. You won’t see the sunset from here tho.
Carlos R — Google review
What a place. Great ride down the beach with amazing views. 20,000 rupiah for entry ticket before heading down the hill. Has pool and shower facilities and heaps of warungs for drinks and snacks. The water is electric blue and nice coral out the front for a snorkel
Jack M — Google review
I visited Virgin Beach after reading many reviews calling it a “hidden white-sand paradise,” but the reality was very different. To get there you have to go through what feels like a jungle, and the road is in terrible condition. It is full of steep, broken, and rocky paths, and honestly it can hardly be called a road. It is absolutely not suitable for scooters, and without a private driver or arranged transport it is very risky. When you arrive, the sand is not white as advertised. It is more of a grey-beige mix, and the beach itself is overrated compared to the photos online. The water is fine, and there are a few local warungs, but overall the experience did not match the description. Unless you already have a driver and know what to expect, I would not recommend making the trip.
Samiradeny — Google review
A true hidden paradise and one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali! 🌺✨ Virgin Beach, also known as Pasir Putih Beach or White Sand Beach, is located on the quieter east coast of the island near Candidasa — far from the busy crowds of Kuta and Seminyak. The drive to get here takes you through peaceful villages, coconut groves, and scenic coastal roads, and when you arrive, you’re greeted by crystal-clear turquoise water, soft white sand, and gentle waves perfect for swimming or simply relaxing by the shore. 🏖️ What makes Virgin Beach special is its tranquil, uncrowded atmosphere. You can easily find a spot to yourself, stretch out on a lounger under a colorful umbrella, and listen to the sound of the ocean. The water is clean and calm, making it ideal for swimming or light snorkeling near the rocks. There are a few small local warungs (cafés) along the beach serving fresh grilled fish, coconuts, and cold drinks — simple, delicious, and very affordable. The locals are friendly and respectful, adding to the laid-back vibe. If you’re looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the real beauty of Bali’s coastline, Virgin Beach is the perfect spot. Come early in the morning or just before sunset for the best light and the most peaceful atmosphere. 🌅 A truly relaxing, hidden gem — one of Bali’s most naturally beautiful and quiet beaches. Highly recommend spending a few hours here to soak up the calm and the view. 💙

Virgin Beach or White Sand Beach. Scenic view. Clean beach & toilets. There are eateries to fill your tummy & quench your thirst. One may go for a swim, be cautious of the strong current. A stroll on the beach is a must. Entrance is IDR 15K for foreigners. Parking is free. The ride is over windy & conspicuous narrow lanes, however, it's worth the drive.
Kiran S — Google review
Is a beach very different to others in Bali . Despite growing popularity, it retains a relatively quiet and natural feel with fewer large resorts and less development compared to other beaches in Bali. But is far from most popular places in the island . If you want to spend a day here , rent a driver and he will pick you and wait for the day is you pay 40 dollar for the day . In the beach are restaurants and some locals selling food and drink .

Mount Agung, a cone-shaped volcano and Bali's highest point, is renowned for its current and historic eruptions that have had a significant impact on the climate. The area surrounding Mount Agung offers various tourist attractions such as the Telaga Waja river for water rafting, the charming beach town of Candidasa, the ancient village of Tenganan known for its unique culture, and the famous Tirta Gangga Water Palace.
My favorite experience in Bali was climbing this beautiful mountain for sunrise 🌅 The down hill is pretty loose and slippery so it takes about the same time to go down.

The view was breathtaking! We can see the Mount Rinjani from the summit. Went there via the Edelweis Basecamp. For time and energy saving we can use ‘ojek’ (bike service) from basecamp for IDR 100K one way. The track to camp site was quite easy with only around 30 minutes to 1 hour from 1 point to another. The challenging part was the summit. The slope of the track is about 45 degrees all the way to the first peak point. But is all worth the view!

Mt Agung (the highest volcano in Bali) It’s quite a challenging trek! It starts at midnight and finishes by midday, taking around 12 hours, including short breaks. The Trek covers 15km and has an elevation gain of 1850 meters. Trek pretty rough, rocky, gravelly, and sandy. Need climbing and crawling involved. Hard part is going downhill it was very slippery, and I ended up slipping more times than I can count, At one point, I wished for a helicopter rescue 😂, which fun experience!!! It's payoff, surrounded by mesmerising views at the very top of the clouds!!!

Lots of rubbish on the way down . Pls look after the nature .

Amazing experience climbing the volcano. Trail is well defined and easy to follow. I did the hike on my own, it is absolutely doable, not as hard as I expected based on previous reviews. It is demanding, as it starts going up and it doesn't stop until you reach the top, with an average gradient of 20% (this changes from section to section) You're approximately the easy section (well defined path) for about 5.5 kms, thereafter, the difficult part through the rocks begins, where you cannot just walk through, but have to somewhat climb through it, that part kast about 1 km but is the part that takes the longest compared to the rest of the hike. Thereafter you're already close to the summit and it's only a breathtaking walk through the crater, which is easy, but sure footage is still required. I had no guide, but registration and fee is required. With good fitness, the hike to the summit took me about 3-3:30 hours and then a couple of hours down. The going down is quiet taxing on the knees. The entire hike is very much worth it and when you reach the summit it is just amazing. An overwhelming experience that makes you feel connected to the world and very much at peace. If you plan on camping in between, there are plenty of possible camping sites throughout the climb.

Pasar Agung temple to the summer route. Its shorter than the Besakih Temple route. Its steep and lots of scrambling involved. Well worth the effort for beautiful sunrise views over Mt Rinjani in Lombok and south Bali.

Second hiking to roof top of Bali Island Amazing view. Clear and blue sky. The trek downhill is waooow
Yohanes W — Google review
2nd time hiking up Mt Agung. This time from Pasar Agung temple. Rewarded with fantastic views on sunrise and Mt Rinjani. It is a steep hike and lots of scrambling involved. This is a shorter route than hiking from Besakih Temple. 4 hours up and 3 1/2 hours down with a 30 min break at the campsite both ways. I highly recommend this route if people want a shorter route to the top

The seafood restaurant Warung Celagi is located near the Pantai Amed beach so guests can enjoy the beautiful view. The restaurant offers traditional Indonesian food as well as Western dishes from Bali. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the food is excellent. One improvement would be to improve the customer service, in order to make guests feel more welcome. Overall, this seafood restaurant is a great choice for anyone visiting Bali!
I had the grilled barracuda and my son ate a chicken burger. We also had lumpia to start and some mango juice to wash it all down. Everything was tasty and fresh and served with a smile. My son enjoyed stacking rocks while we waited and I enjoyed reading my book. I just wish the ants and flies would have left us alone while eating. Maybe a fan would help?

Only popped in for a couple of cold beers. Service was ok, no stubbie holders. My beer was flat, so I'm guessing it has been frozen at some point. 40k IDR per beer is very expensive for Amed unless it's in a prime location like Sunset point. It's still a nice beach front Warung but too expensive. We won't be back.

Geat food, I had super curry with fish, vegetaboes and rise. So good. And the fresh fruit juices are si nice with a lot of fruit. The Bali local dishes are also great, we had local fish. Great that like other places they keep on going mostly Bali and Indonesian food and not trying to imitate western.

Easily the best fish we've had in Bali! The curry was also very tasty, and we loved the lak lak. Even the juices (one watermelon, one banana mango) were delicious, way better than what we had previously.

Seafront seats in a quiet location. The grilled fish was delicious. We feel that the amount of vegetables provided as the side dish could be a bit bigger.

We found this fabulous warung on the beach our first day and we've been back every day since! They have authentic Balinese dishes which are delicious, would recommend the grilled prawns, the curries, the fish in banana leaf... All yummy. Met Ketut today, one of the chefs and she was so friendly.

We absolutely loved the food here in Trattoria Amed. We honestly weren't expecting such amazing, high-quality dishes. The beef carpaccio was delightful, and the pizza was the best we've had in Bali. And the steak? Simply amazing—perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. We highly recommend both the steak and the pizzas! Unfortunately, we can't say the same for the seafood spaghetti. I'm sure normally its delicious but there was a miscommunication with the waitress. We were first served seafood soup by mistake, and then that same soup was apparently turned into spaghetti, resulting in all the seafood being overcooked. Despite that one hiccup, we loved it so much that we came here two days in a row. Its definetly our favorite spot in Amed!

We really enjoyed our dinner here this evening. We had an octopus carpaccio followed by a pizza and pumpkin ravioli. It was all delicious. The service was great and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is comfortable and overlooks the sea. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is that there weren’t enough by the glass wine options. They have lots of wine bottles so I think this would be possible.

Absolutely love this place! Every time I come here, the food is consistently delicious and the service is warm and attentive. They prepare everything really fast, yet the dishes look and taste like something from a fine dining restaurant. Highly recommend the tuna tartare – it’s so tender with a subtle smoky flavor that just melts in your mouth! Portions are huge, so you’ll never leave hungry. And I love the little touch of a complimentary bruschetta with tomatoes – such a simple but thoughtful detail. Cozy atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. ♥️

Discovering Trattoria Amed was a true culinary revelation! From my very first visit, I was utterly captivated by the simply amazing food. It quickly became my go-to spot, and I found myself returning again and again because the quality was consistently exceptional. Not once was I disappointed; in fact, every single meal surpassed my expectations, leaving me delighted and eager for my next visit. While everything on the menu is fantastic, the steak truly stands out as the undisputed highlight. As someone from a country known for its meat, and having only recently reintroduced meat into my diet, finding such an incredible steak dinner was a game-changer. Trattoria Amed's steak is cooked to perfection, incredibly flavorful, and frankly, everything you could hope for and more. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience where every dish is a winner, especially if you appreciate a truly great steak, Trattoria Amed is an absolute must-try. You won't regret it!

Kura Kura Divers Lodge in Amed is highly recommended for its exceptional service, affordable accommodation, and excellent food. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, providing great assistance to guests. They offer a seamless experience for scuba diving enthusiasts as well as fishing or snorkeling trips. The restaurant/bar serves high-quality meals with the best pizza in Indonesia. Additionally, the lodge boasts a cool ambiance with a free pool table and numerous sports channels at the bar.
I had a wonderful stay! The rooms are spacious, very clean, and beautifully maintained. The food is absolutely delicious and comes at a very affordable price. I also highly recommend diving here , the experience was amazing thanks to the lovely and professional dive instructor, Julie. Overall, a fantastic place that I would happily recommend to anyone!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 days and 2 nights, and overall, we had a pleasant experience. The room was clean and spacious enough, with a nice view of the pool, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and very helpful whenever we needed assistance. The hotel is also in a great location — just a short walk to the beach and close to many restaurants and cafes. Breakfast had a decent variety, though the taste could be improved, as some dishes were quite salty. Considering the affordable room rates, we felt it was great value for money. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Having stayed in the 'sister resort', Puri Wirata on a previous visit, I decided to try Kura Kura for 2 nights this time round. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness, location and hospitality of the staff. The rooms are indeed as gorgeous as advertised, with a big bathroom area and extremely comfortable beddings. The blankets were so fluffy till the point where I almost forgot that I was actually away from home. The resort is also located just a short walk away from decent warungs and restaurants serving international cuisines, making it the perfect spot to try different dining experiences during your stay. A quick shoutout to the guys manning the front desk and the WhatsApp number, making communication with the resort easy. . On top of the reception area, is the Kura Kura bar which has a foosball table and a pool table. There is a decent selection of boardgames which are also free to use at the bar. To those who are deciding between Puri Wirata and Kura Kura, the former is a bit more exclusive since it is further away from the Jemeluk area, with the entrance on top of a hill. It is perfect for honeymooners or for those seeking a little more of a quiet getaway. On the other hand, Kura Kura is centrally located with respect to all the dive sites in Amed and is much closer to the main street, making it a better choice if one does not have a scooter. Kura Kura is also a lot more accessible for those experiencing troubles with elevation. . I wish I had taken more pictures for the review but pictures online won't do it justice. Come over and see it for yourself!

I rarely review accommodations, but Julie and her team can’t deserve it more. I did the PADI Open Water course with them, and every aspect of the experience was fantastic. The space is great—big, modern rooms surrounding the pool, specially set up for diving practice. Breakfast is cooked on demand with plenty of options, and the location is right in the middle of town. A very special mention to Ben, my diving instructor—fun, calm, patient, and truly knowledgeable. I couldn’t have been luckier! They have course-and-stay packages on their website, but if you need something different, feel free to reach out to them. That’s what I did, and they crafted the perfect package for me. Thank you, folks! If I ever get back to Bali, I’ll definitely swing by for a dive or two.

Vincent's is a popular spot known for its generous portions of tasty food and traditional Balinese fruits and herbal drinks. The restaurant offers a great view of the Indian Ocean, making it an ideal place to enjoy a meal. With an extensive menu featuring various options, all dishes are well-prepared and satisfying. The ambiance is laid-back with indoor or al fresco dining options and live jazz music in the background.
Best all round dinner in quite a while, started with an friendly smiley greeting and just got better as the night went on. Live jazz table side was an added bonus. We shared the tuna carpaccio and was just superb (please note the pic is of only one portion), was a little late with the camera 🫢, followed by five spice duck and salmon, both were amazing with refined flavours and a true chefs touch. To follow was dessert time, their take on coconut textures ( flavours were delicate yet complex ) and the tiramisu which definitely didn't disappoint. An added bonus was extensive wine list which led us to an interesting yet delicious bottle of Italian white wine. Anyone looking for a great night out should definitely check this place out, oh and definitely book as it fills quickly.

Incredible place, delicious food. I had the beef tenderloin and the coconut texture for dessert. It was super busy. So you’d better make a reservation if you expect more people. At least today is Saturday night, and there’s a pianist accompanying the evening. The place is beautiful!

Enjoyed the vegetarian salads and canelloni pasta. Food taste and presentation both were very good. Great ambience and good service. I wish they had some cooling mechanism for hot days.

Vincent’s Café is an absolute gem in Bali! I loved everything about this place — from the quirky jazz bar vibe to the friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The decor is gorgeous, with Van Gogh-inspired art, cozy rattan chairs, and walls full of music history. You can sit outside in the leafy courtyard or chill inside surrounded by books, vintage photos, and art. The menu is creative, the drinks list is impressive (check out the wine cellar!), and the staff are genuinely warm and attentive. I had a delicious meal (the prawns with green beans and rice were spot on) and enjoyed a glass of wine in the sunshine. Perfect spot if you want to slow down, enjoy good music, great food, and unique surroundings. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bali who loves art, jazz, and a relaxed atmosphere!

Hand's down the best restaurant in Candidasa From the moment you walk into Vincent's there is a sense of class and sophistication. The staff are polite, courteous and attentive. Food is excellent, fresh and serving sizes are generous
