The Walls of Lugo, also known as Muralla Romana de Lugo, are a remarkable example of Roman architecture and history. Built in the 3rd century to enclose the city of Lucus as a defensive measure, this site spans over two kilometers and boasts 46 remaining towers. As the only intact Roman wall left in the world, it has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its outstanding construction and archaeological significance.
Wow, walking the Roman walls of Lugo feels like stepping into a time machine! The moment you climb those ancient stone steps, you’re surrounded by 2,000 years of history, with every tower whispering tales of Lucus Augusti. It’s free to stroll the entire 2km loop, and the views over the old town and Galician hills are unreal perfect for sunset snaps. Insider tip: visit the Centro de Interpretación first for context that’ll make the walls come alive. Did you know these are the only fully intact Roman walls in the world? Bring comfy shoes, sunscreen for the unshaded path, and maybe a coffee from a nearby café to fuel your wander

We had a lovely calm walk over the city wall. We walked the entire perimeter quite leisurely and it did not take us more than an hour. You can leave the wall and enter the streets of the city in a few places. There are nice views of the city during the walk.

Walls of the Roman city from the 3rd century. They are in very good condition and you can walk along the top of them. We started from the cathedral.

Beautiful walled city in the heart of Lugo. It’s the only intact Roman wall left in the world, and you can walk the entire perimeter in about an hour. There are multiple entry points via stairs, but if you need a ramp, there is one adjacent to Catedral de Lugo and there is an elevator on the eastern portion of the wall just south of Porta Falsa.

Lugo Cathedral, located in the northwestern region of Spain, is a city with a strong Roman heritage and medieval buildings. The city sits on the banks of the Mino River and boasts three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Lugo's historical and artistic heritage includes its famous Roman wall, built over 17 centuries ago. This impressive structure spans over 2 km and features 10 gates, offering visitors an up-close experience with Imperial Rome.
This is a magnificent Cathedral with beautiful towers and a magnificent bell tower. The bells are rang on Easter Sunday and on Corpus Christi Sunday. It is possible to enter one of the towers of the Cathedral under special circumstances through the guided tours, which boasts breathtaking views over Lugo. The marvelous work of Architect Fernando Casas Novoa is the Chapel of Our Lady of the Big Eyes, a beautiful circular chapel to the rear of the cathedral, and faces Lugo's Main Square. The cathedral is a must visit. The exterior architecture of the cathedral is spectacular, both inside and outside.
Deckywalsh1 — Google review
Saint Mary's Cathedral or Lugo Cathedral was erected in the early 12th century in a Romanesque style, with Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical elements. A church existed in the site from 755. In 1129 Bishop Peter III commissioned a new edifice in the latest architectural style. It was completed in 1273. The architecture of the Cathedral is magnificent and with the various other details in the building, this Cathedral is a must see when you visit Lugo.
Vijay J — Google review
Need to buy a ticket to enter. Not allowed take photos inside. You can join misa by its schedule, if misa is going, need to wait for it, but you can visit meseum at first. I enjoied the moment inside, felt peace and quiet even I am not a believer.

Romanic cathedral that dominates the south western side of the walled city and is certainly well worth a visit. It has an impressive main altar as well as some interesting chapels and you can also visit the cloister. Don't miss the small museum upstairs that exhibits religious paintings and artefacts including some exquisitely carved crosses.

My wife and I arrived late to Lugo on Monday after a 30km hike on the Camino Primitivo. We went to the Cathedral and were there at 7pm, and were told by the rude young guy they were closed. I said I thought it was 7:30 and he literally just ignored me, with no explanation. We leave at 8:30am tomorrow for our next stage of the Camino and will not get to see this beautiful sight.

Was here around 19:30 on August 9 before the 8 o'clock Saturday Mass. The gentleman working in the sacristía was so helpful and kind. He was able to give me a unique stamp for my credencial, and also offered a much appreciated memento that I will always treasure.

The Main Square of Lugo, a historic hub since Roman times, serves as the vibrant heart of the city. Surrounded by remarkable architecture, including the grand Town Hall and the serene Franciscan Convent, this stately square is adorned with statues honoring notable figures like Emperor Augustus and Galician luminaries such as Rosalia de Castro. The area buzzes with life thanks to its charming terraces and restaurants where visitors can savor local cuisine while enjoying picturesque gardens perfect for relaxation.
Lugo centre is charming, very distinctly Galician, authentic architecture, beautiful clean streets, flower pots and trees and manicured rose beds surrounded by box hedges and seasonal flowering annuals. The tapas bars and restaurants line the west side of the Square. The city hall is the central building and directly in front down Praza Fernando Casas Novoa you will find the North (back) entrance to the Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria - a must see! You will also find the amazing Roman Bath before you come to the Cathedral on the right directly behind the central Abanca Building.

Park
Parque Rosalía de Castro is a charming and verdant oasis nestled in the heart of Lugo, dating back to 1927. Spanning an impressive 23 hectares, this park offers a delightful escape with its lush greenery, diverse tree species, and serene duck pond. It serves as a perfect spot for leisurely strolls or family outings while providing stunning views of the Mino valley.
Perfect spot to take a view of the Miño river valley and catch a glimpse of the Roman bridge below. The park itself is a hidden gem outside the old wall (and a bit hard to drive to, given the one way traffic and dead end roads). Still worth the walk, if only to sit under the old blue glicina at the south~west corner of the park.

Such a lovely public park and so close to the city , also above and adjacent to the area de autocaravannas , the park is very well maintained with a lot of green grass areas and many intertwined path ways and all with plenty of park benches , there’s a cafe in the park with a full menu , very nice band stand and loads of very interesting trees , this is a lovely park to relax in .
Aidan M — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful parks in the urban areas of Lugo. A hidden gem just footsteps from the bus station, Cathedral, and UNESCO world heritage site - Roman Walls. The park is beautiful to watch the sunset in summer, it features an ornate pond with bridge over and stocked with several ducks, not to mention the beautiful pergola with the wisteria, one of the oldest Wisteria plants around. This park is a must see for anyone of any age whilst visiting Lugo!

Historical landmark
Ponte Vella de Lugo, also known as the Roman Bridge of Lugo, is a well-preserved historic structure that spans the Mino River in the southwest of the city. Although it's actually a medieval bridge built on the site of an earlier Roman one, it still stands as a testament to ancient engineering and architecture. Nearby, remnants of Roman baths can be found beneath a hotel, accessible by appointment only in the mornings.
Lego is a very nice city to visit. The Roman bridge is very beautiful! Walking on the bridge around the old town is refreshing. It took around 1-1.5 hrs around, easy walking.

Well worth to go down to the river and walk across the old Roman bridge. We were there in the morning and the light was perfect to get reflections of the bridge in the water. It doesn’t take long to walk across and you can do a loop up to the other bridge.

Mesón Castelo is a delightful gem in Lugo that perfectly blends modern and traditional elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant boasts an exceptional team, with standout service from staff members like Ere, who truly embody hospitality. Whether you're indulging in their delectable tapas or enjoying a full dinner, the food here is nothing short of amazing—think perfectly cooked scallops and mouthwatering grilled salmon that taste just like home-cooked meals.
Pulpo more than perfect, amazing carne, food is delicious, taste like homemade food. The attendance was marvelous! Everything 100% good and authentic!

The scallops were absolutely delicious! Only went for a light lunch and early so it hadn’t got busy but will definitely be back as the bar itself was really nicely done.

I had grilled salmon and it was very good. It's a bit overpriced and they charge you extra to sit outside. The service is fine, and it's in a scenic spot.

My favourite place to visit in Lugo. This is a charming, cosy restaurant with a beautiful ambience and characteristics both modern and traditional. The staff are wonderful, especially Ere! A real Gentleman! The owner is a very nice man too. The foods served are delicious. This is a wonderful place for dinner or even tapas on an evening with a drink. Definitely worth a visit if dining in Lugo.
Deckywalsh1 — Google review
We had absolutely amazing food and the place was really lovely (air conditioned and spacious). The staff were very accommodating to our needs and really attentive.
Stilyana K — Google review
The worst restaurant in Spain!!! I have been to many restaurants in Spain during the last 4 years but I have never had such a disgusting menu. We ordered "ensalada mixta" and "churrasco". The salad was almost inedible - there was way too much vinagre and no tuna fish, egg or esparagus, however we expected the main dish to be better. We got ribs with absolutely no meat on them! We refused to eat it. When we asked them to charge us the salad only, they asked for 7 euros (while the complete menu with wine, bread and dessert was 9!). The service was very unprofessional and the restaurant itself was very cold and the TV was too loud. This place is better to be avoided.
Tereza B — Google review
We had wines only here before we headed off for dinner. Service was good. We sat outside on a balmy, sunny, Thursday evening watching the world pass us by in a most agreeable part of the world.

Taberna Daniel, a bustling tapas bar, boasts an alert and diligent staff that maintain exceptional service even during peak hours. The ambiance is pleasant, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for patrons. Their tapas offerings are outstanding, with a wide variety of delicious small plates available to satisfy diverse palates. The quality of the cuisine is excellent; each dish is carefully prepared using fresh ingredients that result in delightful flavors. Taberna Daniel receives high praise and earns top marks for its remarkable dining experience.
We sat inside which is a small area, but we felt very comfortable. The tortilla especial is delicious and was made to our specifications. We were asked how wet we like it. The zamburiñas were also delicious. The waiter was more attentive than in other similarly busy places. The menu is marked with allergens. The only thing missing for me was gluten free bread.

Arrived in town on a sunny Sunday in late March hungry and thirsty. Found Taberna Daniel and had boiled ham, omelette, padrone peppers. All delicious. The weather was so nice we indulged in a couple vermouths. Great experience. Be aware: even the ‘small’ omelette is enormous!

I had chips with pork but it was absolutely horrible I mean the potatoes were so sloppy, chewy, and it was like a year in the sun so and the pork was absolutely bland, no marratnation so had to teach the owner how bad was it and he accepted not like most restaurants so he gave us another dish and it was not bland and it was pretty good so Overall don't order what I order and the point to tell this restaurant is be consistent.

During our stroll in Lugo, we decided to try out Mesón Manger based on positive reviews from Google. It turned out to be a great choice as the food was all homemade and delicious. We started off with a plate of octopus á feira, garlic prawns, and scallops, which were all incredibly tasty. The kids opted for milanesa with homemade potatoes, while we ended our meal by sharing a delightful cheesecake.
Good option of you want to have a local experience. Don't expect a fancy place, it's more something where the Spanish working class gets their lunch! Menu del día gives you some options and includes soup, main course, dessert and (a bottle of) red wine for 10 €/person. Food is good! Staff is friendly!

(Translated by Google) The food on the menu (I don't know what's on the menu), very good. Not very abundant dishes and the meat with that greasy aftertaste that makes you know that it is not a good product. The best, the salad 🥗. The average service is bad... You can't treat customers like trash, just for asking if the temperature varies a lot from inside to outside. The place is not bad. Typical inn with a bar on the right when entering and the dining room in the background. (Original) La comida del menú (desconozco la de la carta), muy de batalla. The waitress goes out of her way to serve quickly and is very friendly. The menu of the day, today Sunday 13 euros is fine, the soft tripe and very tender chickpeas, the tasty Galician broth, the abundant and tender roast meat and not at all dry with homemade potatoes, the decent battered hake and the dessert is a cheesecake super homely. It has a lot of movement of people to eat. It is very close to the cathedral and it is easy to park near the park. (Original) Buena comida, casera y abundante. Restaurante Campos is an elegant, long-standing establishment located in an 18th-century building in the heart of Lugo. It offers refined Galician cuisine and is highly recommended for a fine dining experience. The restaurant's white-tablecloth setting and attentive waitstaff create a sophisticated atmosphere, making it somewhat pricier than surrounding eateries but well worth the cost for those seeking a special dining experience.
Fantastic meal. Probably the most expensive we've had in Galicia but one of the best. Service was refined and attentive. The room is light and elegant. We ordered the anchovies, the crab cream, the fried lobster and the sole, and the server's recommended Albariño was excellent. We were too full for desserts, but the ones we saw on other tables looked delicious. The staff are prepared to accommodate english speakers.

Amazing restaurant in an amazing location in the middle of the most happening part of town. Very up market, gorgeous decor, superlative service and excellent food. I will definitely come back next time I'm in this part of Spain.

This is the most luxurious dining experience I have ever had. I brought my parents to Restaurante Campos when they visited Lugo as a treat for my father's birthday. Everything was absolutely perfect, the staff are absolutely wonderful, and the food was fantastic. The food portions are very generous. I was very impressed at how reasonably priced the food is compared with the outstanding quality.

The quality of the ingredients speak for themselves. I would say you get incredible food that is made with a lot of love. And the location is ideal. There is upstairs seating and outside seating. The upstairs seating is a little bit more formal. You get a lot of table service which can be a bit weird but I understand that in a high fine dining restaurant like this you need to have a lot of attention from the waiters. All the food was delicious however the salad came with no dressing but they did bring the dressing on the side. I'm not sure, maybe that's normal. But once we added the dressing it was absolutely incredible. For me the inside seating felt a little bit stuffy but I usually prefer to be in a more relaxed environment and often prefer to dine outside in the summers. I still would come back to this place even though the prices are high but of course you get a lot of value and high quality ingredients.

We had the set menu this lunchtime, with two choices per course. Delicious well-cooked food and excellent, attentive service. We had a good bottle of wine, which was decanted for us and my husband approved of the training being given to a, presumably new, waitress. Nice ambience and obviously popular restaurant. Not cheap, so this will go down as one of our "special" meals this holiday. Would definitely come here again.

Centro Comercial As Termas is a modern shopping center in Lugo that offers a diverse range of upscale retailers, restaurants, and entertainment options. The atmosphere is lively and engaging, with interactive activities and live performances creating a vibrant ambiance. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dining options, including meat, pizza, cheeses, soups, chicken, seafood and more.
Many different shops, nice prices, you can get a lot of good food there too. Everything you need, you can buy at this shopping center.

They don’t have parking spot for motorhome, we had to occupy two vacancies, but that’s fine, at least they don’t restrict the height. I believe the hipermarket bankrupted, probably because there is a huge mercadona in front of it. We went to media market because we wanted to buy a drone, they didn’t have and didn’t help on how to order one… zero efforts! They definitely are not there to sell anything, they don’t need or want our money! Hahaha The website (that is horrible) said they had this product available. Well, only thing that was worth it was the petshop 😅

The atmosphere and interactive crowd engagement supersedes the food, owning up to the name of good company. It was a Friday, which is probably why an MC was present. Games were hosted and visiting with tables for gist, questions, laughter. A live singer present and an open dance floor that was consistently full once music was playing. The food is good, plenty of options ranging from meat, pizza, cheeses, soups, chicken, seafood, etc.

Very good shopping centre in Lugo. It is our go to centre for all our needs, since there is a very good supermarket(Eroski), a pet store(Kiwoko) and a very good hardware store(Ali). It also has a good amount of clothing stores, perfume stores and several other stores that would be of interest to families and young professionals alike. There is a good choice of restaurants too, including our absolute favourite burger restaurant, La Urbana.

As we have been informed, the exhibition is intended to be renewed, but it is not known when this will happen. It would be interesting for the tourist office to inform about this, since the facilities are located far from the most touristy area. Despite this, we have been able to enjoy the temporary exhibition by Silvia Sánchez. A small sample of watercolors and a couple of sculptures, although what we liked most is the immersive experience it has created. Casa dos Mosaicos is a small archaeological site located in the Plaza Mayor, showcasing the remains of a Roman domus with an impressive heating system. Visitors can also explore a 4th-century Roman pool in Plaza de Santa Maria and the remnants of a temple near the Circulo de las Artes building. Despite its modest size, this site offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of affluent Romans through well-presented murals, mosaics, and architectural foundations.
A hidden gem of a small museum with excavated Roman remains including some fine mosaics and painted plasterwork.

An imaginative video and a really helpful member of staff gave us a fuller context to the Roman history of Lugo. This is a small site below ground with an entrance that's easy to miss. Don't expect a huge amount of excavation, the surrounding buildings did not allow for this. But what there is gives enough of a feel of a large villa built for someone with money and power. The explanations are a huge bonus.

Bulló Xantar is an exceptional eatery that offers outstanding cuisine, characterized by its remarkable quality and innovative presentation. I've been a very happy customer of the other restaurant this owner has in the same street, the Anda, for more than a year now. But today it was closed so we tried this one expecting the same standards. The whole experience was just average, the food and service were just ok. We noticed at the end that the bill included two portions of bread that we never asked for. We were offered "some bread" at the beginning but didn't expect to end up with bread for 4 people on the table and then to be charged for two portions (we would be happy to pay for one but not 2 when we didn't even touch most of it). I just thought it would be fair to mention it to the waiter and that's what I did. Then the owner arrives with more than an attitude, and very aggressively tells me that "he knows me well" because I'm the "vegan one" who alway gives a hard time with my requests... I was seriously prettified. I've been loving his other restaurant precisely because in Lugo it's not easy to eat vegan and they've always went the extra mile to accommodate to my dietary needs, which I thought made this place very cool and special. I've been recommending it, and bringing new customers for a year, and to be treated this way was absolutely shocking. I'm very sad to say that I won't be coming back.
Asela V — Google review
The food was tasty and very good! So I definitely recommend this. BUT as a customer I have some complaints about stuff behavior. We got dinner and drinks outside. After we came inside for 2 minutes cause it was very cold. To find a taxi number but an angry waitress did not let us sit 🪑 even for a minute saying that we occupied the table. Seriously? We just got dinner and drinks and we are not welcome anymore ? Wow this is unbelievable!
Iris A — Google review
Some context: on a street with many restaurants and outdoor seating. No joke that every place was full for outdoor seating except for Bullo, why was 100% empty. We decided to roll the dice. Turned out to be the wrong choice. Unwelcoming. Despite being nearly the only customers I 3 x needed to walk inside to get service. (I live in Europe so know how pacing should be) Rude. Server was brusk , often setting things on our table then just walking away. Never smiled or spoke unless asked directly. My wife even addressed him in Spanish so he knew language wasn’t an obstacle Bad value. Small portions including very small pours in a glass of wine- at least for tourists. For an 1 appetizer, 1 main, and 3 glasses of simple house wine =$80 USD. That’s literally double the price than any other place to be treated terribly for average food. COD and potatoes were nearly inedible with salt. Smoked fish tartar with bland crackers lacked any interesting flavor or texture. I’m fine with simple wine, yet every glass was inexplicably different from the last.

This restaurant, Pulpería en Lugo - Aurora do Carballiño, is a unique and contemporary establishment with a distinctive decoration featuring barrel-style dining pods. With the inclusion of octopus dishes on their menu, it's a great choice for those seeking something different. The owner, Chus, is known to be very friendly. Although the portion size for the octopus may be slightly small, the overall ambiance of the place is cozy and pleasant.

Galicia is famous for its octopus, and if you’re in Lugo looking for a good seafood spot, this restaurant is a must-try. Located right in the heart of the city, it offers two floors of seating, making it perfect for large groups or parties. We went as a group of eight and were seated upstairs, which was spacious and super comfortable. The service was quick, and the food came out fast and fresh and cooked perfectly. If you’re visiting Lugo and want authentic Galician seafood, this is definitely a place to add to your list! What we ate: - El pulpo a la feria (octopus) - Croquetas de chocos - Salpicón de rape - Calamares - Patatas Fritas
Michel L — Google review
The food was pretty good in terms of flavor. I had seafood. Portions were kind of small, I believe. And Btw They charge the bread. They had many wines in the menu but didn't have any real cider (like in Asturias). I was surprised since Lugo is located in the north of Spain (They only had little ones in bottles, basically like hard cider that you can find in the US). The Host (a young girl with glasses) had either no energy or was introverted. Very shy... Poor girl... The Server (a dark skin latin guy) wasn't very friendly. Barely had eye contact, his voice was rough and was in a hurry. Didn't know to recommend anything. Price, I would say is high. The inside of the local was beautiful and fancy. Old barrels and everything was made of beautiful wood and thick ropes hanging like in a boat.

Interesting environment, attentive service. Pork Raxo was very good, Salada mixta was more or less OK (with canned tuna and boiled egg - it wasn’t mentioned in menu that salad contains those ingredients). Beef Entrecote was not worth 24 Euro (small portion, with a lot of fat, medium done)

Restaurante España is a popular gastropub in Lugo, offering a split-level dining experience. Upstairs, guests can enjoy a more sophisticated à la carte menu, while the first floor offers a simpler sampler menu. Downstairs, diners have the flexibility to choose from both menus. The modern decor features comfortable seating in shades of blues and greys. The restaurant offers an excellent menu del dia downstairs in a pleasant and informal atmosphere.
I came to the restaurant alone with a reservation. I wanted to order chuleton but the serving is way too big for one person, so I ordered a different cut. The restaurant is tranquil and clean with good lighting at night, which is good for me since I am sensitive to bright lighting. The servers are friendly and observant to my needs. I would definitely come back with friends to try the chuleton!

Small portions for glasses of wine. The bread felt quite dry but the ox was delicious as well as the tartar. We asked for a salad and got very minimally chopped veggies, but the service was great.

One of the popular gastro-pubs in Lugo. Operates a split level, 2 menu foodie experience. Upstairs a la carte and on the 1st floor a sampler more simple menu, if you sitt downstairs you can pick and chose from both menu's, upstairs "a la carte" only,, we sat downstairs... The decor is modern, in shades of blues and grey's, the seating is very comfy and overall a well thoughout presentation. We sampled 5 different plates, skipping from, baby beef to tuna tartar, by way of a succulent chistorra, pausing for a roast beef sandwich, followed by a salmon maki.... The melody of flavors enchanted, of course the usual comments of a bit more of this, less of that and opinions and ranking of each followed 😋 The service was excellent, the prices MORE than fair, all in a very safe/desinfected environment! En Hora Buena España 👏👏👏

Great little museum and ruins adding colour and depth to Spanish history. Could use more English as there was none but still good.

We loved this site and museum. A real treasure. A lovely friendly welcome from the staff who offered to play the English version of the introductory video for us. I believe they also have it in French and German as well as Spanish. Contrary to a review I read earlier, they now have guides in French, German and English in each of the rooms. The artifacts are amazing . The site itself is astounding and very evocative.

Market
Mercado Municipal Quiroga Ballesteros is a beautiful and bustling market located near the Provincial Museum. The market features a unique two-level construction, with the lower level resembling a semi-basement where local farmers and suppliers sell their authentic, tasty, and fresh products directly to visitors several times a week. Recently renovated, the market now has a more commercial and recreational appearance, offering excellent food items including fresh fruits, vegetables, ham, cheese, and a wide range of meats.

(Translated by Google) Walking through the city we find this market, it is located near the Provincial Museum. A peculiar construction on 2 levels, the lowest one we could define as semi-basement, in it we saw street stalls, that is, farmers and suppliers in the area sell their products directly several times a week. At the top or high part is the main part of this market, from what I could see while walking through it, it is quite complete (fruits, fish, seafood, meats, vegetables and cheeses of the most variety), how could it be, buy a little of cheese to try.

A disservice to local businesses to want to scam tourists who you know are not going to return... (Original) La panadería artesana del mercado me estafó deliberadamente. Catholic church
Iglesia de San Froilán is a simple and recommended temple for prayer and participation in the Holy Mass. It holds sentimental value for many, as it has been the site of baptisms, first communions, and cherished memories during childhood and adolescence. The church is located in Plaza del Ferrol Lugo, known for its magnificent location and good public parking. The beautiful facade of the church is illuminated at night, adding to its charm.
(Translated by Google) 👍🏻🍺🖐☕️🌲😎🤠 Originally, it was part of the old Hospital of San Bartolomé or San Juan de Dios, founded in 1621 by the Bishop of Lugo, Alonso López Gallo. It provided care to the sick and pilgrims who arrived in the city on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The current church was built in the mid-18th century with the support of Bishop Francisco Izquierdo Tavira, and has undergone few changes since then. In 1857, the hospital suffered a fire that damaged part of the facilities. Although the damage was not extensive, the cost of repairing a building of its age led the City Council to order its demolition in 1877. The church complex thus became the parish of San Froilán, although the sculpture that presides over the façade of the temple continues to represent Saint Bartholomew.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled in the heart of Lugo, Domus Mitreo is a captivating archaeological site that transports visitors back to the first century AD. This well-preserved Roman house offers a glimpse into ancient life and stands as one of the city's most significant historical remnants. The site has been thoughtfully converted into a small museum, providing insights into Roman architecture and culture. Accessibility features, including an elevator for those with mobility challenges, ensure everyone can explore its fascinating hallways and ruins up close.
A very good site explaining you the history of that specific space opposite to the city's cathedral. From a Roman house following the recommendations of Vitruvius that added a sanctuary to the eastern deity Mitra, to being demolished in order to build Lugo's famous Roman defensive walls. To a medieval graveyard and an aristocratic baroque residence.
Diego R — Google review
The lower level Roman remains was interesting to see. Lots of interactive screen on different facts about the villa and temple. The more modern exhibition was not as accessible as there was no English translations.

This was a very interesting museum, but the best part was the museum staff - their English was extrememely good, they were eager to share with us about the collection, they put on an English video just for us and were generally helpful and friendly. If you are a student, pensioner or a teacher then you get discounted tickets but you need ID. I would definitely recommend this.

What a wonderful place. Alba was so easy to deal with. Organised a tour for 15 of us, and there isn't a more picturesque place in Galicia to enjoy their tremendous wines & some local cheeses. Highly recommend place to spend a memorable afternoon.

We had a wonderful visit to the winery. We did not do our research and did not book a tour ahead of time. There were 3 in our party and we were visiting from the US. Letizia your staff member was absolutely wonderful! She saved the day!!! She recommended a bottle of wine for us to have on the terrace. It was wonderful and we ended up purchasing a few other bottles also. She took such good care of us. Told us about the winery about what's grown there, the different generations and such. She even recommended a restaurant for lunch and called ahead. We so appreciated the wonderful service. I highly recommend your winery and of course Letizia. Thank you, Denise Debbie and Gary

Stunning landscape and crazy location. On the upper hill of the Miño cliffs. Staff was really nice and they explain everythig with detail. We were completely shocked by its views...probably the best views of Ribeira Sacra wineries.

We toured this winery with Carolina and our experience was wonderful. The location is magic! Spectacular. Carolina had an amazing understanding of the importance and details of every step of wine making from which grape grows best where and when to pick them as well as in depth knowledge of the entire wine making process from the vine to the glass. We enjoyed every minute of our time there. Because of it's remote location, GPS is very helpful to get there. Lots of narrow and winding roads. We hope to return to this Sacred Valley again.

Lovely vineyard in beautiful Ribeira Sacra region of Galicia. The views were breathtaking and our tour guide, Carolina, was exceptional. She was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing details not only about the wines and viticulture but also about the region's history. We snuck out with a bottle of aged Galician Aguardiente (never knew they made it here!), plus an Albarino blend and my favorite wine of the flight, the hearty red Fudre. Definitely recommend a visit if you're staying near Lugo.

Excellent, distinctive red and white wines with D.O.Ribeira Sacra. My favourites are the signature and oak matured mencia wines. Their liqueurs are fantastic too..You can visit the distillery nearby in Escairon. My favourite winery to visit in Galicia.

O Mercado casa de comidas is an exceptional restaurant that places a strong emphasis on taste and quality. It offers a diverse menu filled with interesting and flavorful dishes, accompanied by a selection of fine house wines. The desserts are particularly outstanding. If you're looking for something unique and different, this hidden gem is definitely worth visiting. The food, including the Menu del Dia with its two savory courses and dessert, is absolutely delicious.
A welcoming place where the waiters were already quite tipsy and happy when we arrived and offered wine by a generous measure. Several dishes highlighted connection with the Basque Country, in particular the txuleton was of very good quality and scallops were delicious. Mencia grape based tinto wine from the Ribeira Sacra area was appreciated as accompaniment to the meat dishes

They were overcooked with a wine reduction that was surely from a bottle. They looked terrible, dry, and tough. The other dish was raxo with potatoes and smelled bad. My partner ate a piece and realized it wasn't in good condition. The bread was two pieces of dry, stale bread in a basket with a super-reused napkin. El otro plato era raxo con patatas y olía mal, mi pareja comió un trozo y ya se dio cuenta de que no estaba en buen estado, el pan eran dos trozos de un pan seco y revenido en un cesto con una servilleta súper reutilizada. Osteria El Italiano is a charming Italian restaurant with attentive waitstaff and a cozy covered wooden balcony, perfect for enjoying a meal. Guests have praised the delicious pizza with an exquisite crust and the flavorful stuffed pasta. While some found the carpaccio to be less impressive, the homemade tiramisu was a delightful dessert option. The average cost per person is around 20 units of currency, inclusive of drinks.

(Translated by Google) Very good quality Italian restaurant. They serve a glass of cava and some oils with bread to taste for free. The pasta and pizzas are delicious, both fresh and stuffed. Moderately priced without being expensive (€15-20 per person including dessert). Reservations are recommended as it is almost always full. There is more than enough parking space right next door. (Translated by Google) Perfect food in a beautiful place, the very friendly waitress advised us on the amount of food, we even made a mistake when ordering a dish and they offered to change it even though it was our mistake. The pizza is delicious, you can see the good work of the chef. That's how it's nice to go places. In addition, the Covid Protocol is strictly followed and that is appreciated. Restaurant
Restaurante Paprica is a sleek and understated venue that offers inventive Galician cuisine and local wines. The chef, Alvaro Villasante, creates a creative menu that changes with seasonal products, featuring dishes like the scallop maki which comes highly recommended. The restaurant provides a harmonious blend of subtle flavors and textures using high-quality local ingredients, with many dishes showing a Japanese influence. The service is excellent, attentive, and well-paced, making for an enjoyable dining experience.
We were there during San Froilán. We both had the degustación menu, which was sublime. It is difficult to select which of the many courses was the best. Their food is such a harmonious blend of subtle flavors and textures, using local ingredients of the highest quality. Each plate was a revelation. Many of the dishes showed a Japanese influence. The service was excellent, attentive and well paced. Our server was kindly very patient with my weak Spanish, and also communicated some in English. 100% recommended for a memorable meal.

Very nice dining experience. The staffs are very nice and friendly. The girl explained the menu and how the food was cooked and seasoned in English. My favourite is the final dessert!

I love the fact Alvaro’s delicate work goes deep offering different textures and flavors all his creations. I would never imagine egg plant could be so fun, nor I ever thought Flan could be reinvented. Definitely, I have to invent something to come back, with family, to Lugo!

A “want to be Michelin” restaurant, which I would have rated higher, if I had compared it to a regular restaurant. However, compared to a true 1 * Michelin, it is average. On the other hand, prices are very affordable (for a wanna be Michelin). We ordered a Ceviche, which was actually a “Tiradito” and was pretty good, though now wow. Our veal was much tougher than expected. especially after the long introduction. Our rice was too salty, too sour and the rabbit chewy.

Recently discovered this place in Lugo. Really nice spot for elevated Spanish/Galician cuisine in Lugo. Good vegetarian options as well, something that is quite rare in Spain. Great recommendations regarding the wines as well by the staff. Will definitely return.
Jan K — Google review
Poor service. Went there with my parents and ordered 3 tasting menus (the most expensive item on the menu) it took them 2.5 hours for the tasting to finalize, almost 15-20 minutes in between each plate. Aside from that, I had to ask for the menu for us to notice they had forgotten one of the courses. I told them this and they apologized but just offered a cup of wine right at the end of a 2.5hr slow service. If you expect me to pay fully then give me everything I’m paying for, or at least have the courtesy of not charging us for the bread and cokes, for gods sake. If you are busy, then also understand you CANNOT provide a FULL tasting menu ON TIME and LEARN to indicate this to your guests, you are not a McDonald’s. €200 wasted
Alfredo O — Google review
I’m having trouble writing a description of this transcendent meal in English let alone my broken Spanish. Reserve a table yourself and decide if the staff of Paprica are witches, angels, sorcerers, mambos, or generous practitioners of culinary hedonism and hospitality. Either way you will not be disappointed. We can’t thank you enough.

(Translated by Google) The poor state of its construction detracts from this site: the glass is filthy (it should be cleaned daily, or at least like the street). It's absurd to invest money in this added value of (reviled yet deified) tourism and NOT then spend a few "bits of change" to keep it alive and visitable. Furthermore, I know that anti-reflective glass has been around for many years. (Original) El pésimo estado del acondicionamiento desmerece este yacimiento: cristal con mucha suciedad (debería limpiarse a diario o, al menos, igual que la calle). (Translated by Google) I imagine that when you pay a la carte, it must be fantastic, given the restaurant's pleasant atmosphere and the quality of its products. It feels like a classy restaurant, even with a private room. But the menu, as we went, wasn't very appealing. It was one of the most expensive we saw in Galicia and one of the worst we ate. The salad was overly laden with lettuce. The vegetables with burrata were undercooked and had too many large pieces. And the rice with razor clams was tasteless. We left half of it. The millefeuille was pitiful. It was better to choose another dessert. The service was luxurious, truly classy. If I return to Lugo, at 20 euros per person, I wouldn't go back. Si vuelvo a Lugo, 20 euros p.p., no repetiría.

(Translated by Google) A spacious and well-located restaurant in the center of Lugo, with an outdoor terrace and a large interior area spread over two floors, allowing for a large crowd. The place feels welcoming, both due to its decor and the friendliness of one of the bartenders. However, the ordering process leaves much to be desired. Despite having a good staff, the management seems to depend solely on the manager, which creates a lack of control and creates a poor impression. We lingered at the bar after tapas and ordered scrambled eggs with straw potatoes and grated cheese. It took over 50 minutes to be served, which seemed excessive. Overall, I think the place is overrated for the prices and the service. Nestled in the heart of Lugo, Sibuya Urban Sushi Bar is a haven for sushi enthusiasts seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience. This stylish restaurant prides itself on crafting artisanal dishes made from high-quality ingredients, ensuring each plate is prepared fresh to order. The extensive menu features a delightful array of options, including classic Maki and Nigiri alongside innovative Uramaki and Gunkan rolls, as well as tantalizing salads, gyoza, yakisoba, and more.
We loved the food, the ambiance and our waitress Andrea! We felt very well cared for. And the food was prepared so artistically and it tasted amazing! Thank you for an amazing experience!

Poor quality when ordering delivery. Better to order at restaurant. Much better in person. Roll was not fully rolled, so falls apart. Some rolls didn’t have fish. There was so little ginger that it was just one small bag for one bite. The evening is ruined. Not recommend delivery ‼️😫❌

Very stylish location, nice decor, friendly & fast staff. Food is really fresh and the wine is tasty. I had the menu which was very good with a moderate price. The taste was good but for my liking sometimes a bit too much and over the top. A little bit more nuanced favors would be even better. Still I would highly recommend this place for high quality sushi in Lugo. Especially for me visiting as a pilgrim it was great to get something different compared to the default “menu del dis” you get all the time.

Because of the good references, we were looking forward to our dinner at Sibuya, but afterwards it was not satisfying. The woman who served us seemed not to have fun in her job. Later anoyher woman also served us, who seemed to be more enthusiast. We ordered our meals, but did not get exactly what we ordered. We did not get Yakitori, but got double Yakisoba de Pollo. The food was of mixed quality. The sushi was good, the Yakisoba de Pollo was not so good. We got twice that dish, but with a different taste… Maybe it was because we were the first in the restaurant, but for us it was not an experience that makes us wanting to come back again.

Nice place with good service. The free appetizer Edamame with sea salt was very tasty. Yakitori with rice was very good. The noodles Yakisaba I didn’t like.

Lovely sushi in the heart of Lugo. The prices are fair and the quality is too. Unfortunately I noticed others sushi be ready in the bar for 15-20 minutes before being served. That’s not good.

The sushi was absolutely amazing. Very accessible options for vegetarians. Our favourites were the solo verde and the gyoza veggie, they were definitely the best we have eaten. Friendly staff and quick service. All-round great, a shame that we cannot go back easily. Absolutely recommend

Super friendly staff who found us a table inside because we were with a baby and it was getting a little too fresh outside in the evening. The food is supper yummy! Great vegetarian selection. The interior, the ambience… everything is spot on about this place.
