PF McCarthy's Bar & Restaurant is a beloved establishment in Kenmare, known for its friendly atmosphere and live music events featuring traditional Irish and contemporary tunes. The menu offers classic dishes such as fish and chips, meatloaf, and lamb stew at reasonable prices. This traditional Irish pub is a favorite among locals, serving delectable bar food along with a selection of beer and spirits, including the renowned Guinness.
Very good food and the portions are plentiful. I had the Sausage and Bean Casserole. It is more like a hearty stew than the normal sliceable casseroles in the United States. I really enjoyed it along with the shrimp, corn and Coriander fritters. The fritters are not fried which is a warm welcome more like a pancake. All the as very good and I would recommend a stop at PF McCarthy’s while in Ireland!

We had a very good meal at PF McCarthy’s. There’s a lively bar and it’s a bit noisy but it wasn’t hard to hear. The service was efficient and the food was quite good and came out promptly. The salmon special was delicious, tasty sauce and a good portion. The turkey dinner was really excellent, with the meat melting in your mouth and a well seasoned gravy. Both plates came with a mountain of mashed potatoes. Overall we had a nice dinner and it was a good experience. Lovely staff and casual atmosphere.

Food is fabulous. Service was great. No matter what you get it would be absolutely delicious. There are 3 sisters that 2 of them working here and the third one join them for playing guitar and the other 2 are sining. Amazing amazing amazing

Best stew I had my entire trip! But to be fair they were all amazing it was hard to choose. The service was great and we had a lovely dinner after a long day of exploring.
Kimberly C — Google review
Had a decent enough meal here. The food quality was acceptable for the prices but the Blaa roll didn't really work for the burger, which also lacked seasoning. Still, it's reasonably priced and staff were friendly.
Ben B — Google review
We had a great experience at this restaurant! We were a group of 7, quite hungry, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The service was also excellent — friendly and attentive. The bill was more than fair for the quality we received. And whatever you do, don’t miss the dark chocolate pudding — it was simply outstanding!
Raluca C — Google review
The food here is really good. A step above your usual Pub Grub. Husband ordered a bacon cheddar bacon jelly burger which was more ground steak than cheap beef. I ordered the Irish Stew which I ordered to get some veggies but it was totally hearty and full of meat. My picture was after I was full - still so much meat left. Luckily others in my family finished it off. Really appreciated their draft list. Got a Murphy's Stout and a couple of Tom Crean's EXpedition Red. First time trying Tom Crean's. So good.

After a lovely day of driving the Ring of Kerry, we decided to finish our day with a nice dinner, we chose this place after reading all the good reviews, and now all my thoughts are how did this place got those good reviews? It was the worst experience ever, I have been in many dinning places and I wouldn't give reviews even it is just ok place, and this one is something else. Ordered food (place was quite quiet at that time), and nothing came for 40 min, asked staff and told just few more minutes, and nothing has came for another 10min, we were all starving by then, and asked staff again and she told us kitchen is busy and we have to wait longer, so we decided to ask for a manager to talk. Few minutes later food came, and both of our burgers were undercooked, raw in the middle, mine I asked for no cheese(lactose intolerant), there they were stick on the burger bun, we couldn't eat ours, my son's pasta was tasteless so he didn't eat his, my parents had their food not because the dishes were nice, only because they were starving. Called staff to complain, asked for manager again, and after 10 minutes no one came and we were completely ignored. Grab a staff to ask for manager again, he just said manager was busy in the kitchen, I think he just try to avoid dealing with us. Honestly, with undercooked food and waste of our time we did not want to pay anything, however, we paid everything apart from the burgers. This place if you want to grab a drink maybe ok, but keep away if you want some food. And if the owner of the pub ever see this, please train your manager on customer service, I have worked in hospitality and there is so much better way could deal with this situation then trying to ignore.

Restaurant
Located on Main Street in Kenmare, Mulcahys is a stylish and intimate restaurant that was previously a pub. The interior features low-hanging lights, brown leather seats, and small wooden tables, creating a contemporary chic atmosphere.
Server was very friendly, the service overall was great. Food overall was good. Beef Wellington was cooked perfectly. Guinness pie was really good. Desserts were done well. Mushroom risotto didn’t seem like it was cooked how risotto was supposed to be cooked, it was very runny and saucy. Flavor was good. It was about 90 degrees in the dining room. Not sure if it’s always like that or maybe it was just that night. Would recommend if you’re in the area.
Justin E — Google review
The food was tasty and very well presented. The service was very good. However, the portions were small and pricey. We had the roasted cauliflower appetizer which was delicious. The wild mushroom risotto main was tasty. The salmon, monkfish and braised beetroot main were good. For dessert, we had the baked Alaska and the chocolate mousse with ice cream which were delicious but very small portions. Overall, tasty food, very good service, nice atmosphere but very expensive and the portions were small.
Dr. S — Google review
If you want a fine dining experience and high quality food, this place is for you. We loved the braised brisket with mashed potatoes and steamed greens. The fresh local butter and Guinness bread were divine. The atmosphere was romantic and cozy and the service was quick and friendly.

Absolutely incredible dinner in Mulcahys! Service, wine, food and atmosphere, all 10/10. We didn’t have a reservation and the wonderful staff squeezed us in, despite being very busy - thank you! A must-visit in Kenmare.

We ate at No. 35 and Mulcahys during our stay in Kenmare. Both were good but Mulcahys was better!! Both restaurants are in the same price range, but for a Michelin Star restaurant, not insanely expensive. Very fair pricing for the quality of food. We found it challenging to make a reservation as they only accept phone reservations. Would recommend calling mid day as they seem not to answer the phone during dinner service. We ended up reserving our table the night before in person. Book it, it will be one of the best meals on your trip!

Restaurant
No. 35 Kenmare Restaurant is a cozy and ambitious eatery owned by Dermot Brennan, a renowned pig breeder. The menu, curated by chef Tony Schwartz, features top-quality Irish ingredients with a focus on rare-breed free-range pedigree saddlebacks from Brennan's own farm. Dishes like pork collar with braised cabbage and apple puree or homemade sausages with champ and onion jus showcase the precise culinary technique of Chef Schwarz.
A True Taste of Ireland – A Must-Visit This traditional restaurant offers an excellent opportunity to experience Irish culinary identity. The staff and owner were welcoming and highly professional, offering thoughtful guidance through the menu and insightful suggestions about local dishes and ingredients. The food was outstanding—authentic, expertly prepared, and a true reflection of Irish tradition. For those seeking a genuine taste of Ireland paired with attentive service, this restaurant is a must-visit.

Book a reservation beforehand (necessary because of local popularity!) as it is worth it for a great culinary experience at great value. Each component of each dish was cooked perfectly - the prawn and spinach filo pastry being a great example of complexity executed exceptionally. The mains have wonderfully balanced flavors with elements that elevate them beyond their contemporaries! Highly recommend the lamb ragu for a staple dish - and if they have the grilled sole special it is a must order. The fish fell right off the bone, and the tomatoes lifted the dish. Any restauranteur would be thrilled.

What a fantastic restaurant. Staff are super friendly and it's so quaint inside. A great selection of dishes. Not surprising that it is in the Michelin Guide. High quality produce cleverly used. Really worth a visit. Best to book a table in advance on line otherwise you probably won't be able to get a table. .

An excellent evening with splendid food and professional unassuming service. The menu is small and yet offers the variety to have options almost for everyone. The starters and mains are prepared with great care and arrive quickly after ordering.

I appreciate the extended hours of operation at Apache Pizza Kenmare, as it came to the rescue on a Tuesday night when I was in search of late-night food. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, willing to customize their vegetarian pizza by making it vegan without cheese. They even went above and beyond by adding extra vegetables instead of the cheese. It is well-organized with the option to dine upstairs or get takeaway, including home delivery service.
Excellent service here. When I visited it was busy but the ladies that were serving were excellent. Food was excellent too. Building is a little worn but I couldn't deduct anything as the staff and food made up for any short comings.

Me and my friend ordered two kebabs and two milkshakes , the kebabs were mid for the price and the milkshakes were the problem here, they tasted expired and whatever i did the flavour wouldn’t go away, it tasted like pure expired milk with sugar, we waited for about half an hour which isn’t horrible, after i tasted the milkshakes we decided to call and the workers wouldnt answer my questions and proceded to ask for my adress which i understand but i just needed to know if the ingredients used were expired or not so i dont see the point of them knowing my address. Not a bad place just stuck with stomach pains after.
Miga B — Google review
Burger was very disappointing. Stale bun, almost no dressing, burger overcooked. I won't recommend or buy a burger again. Pizza was fantastic, I can highly recommend the pizzas, great toppings lovely base, lots of flavour. I'll be back for more.

Foleys of Kenmare is a long-standing family-run gastropub and inn located on Henry Street in Kenmare. The establishment offers informal rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. With over 50 years in business, Foleys of Kenmare prides itself on offering some of the best dining experiences in town, featuring locally sourced fine dining options such as chowder, fish & chips, chicken wings, gourmet burgers, and traditional Shepherd's pie.
I just had two diet cokes here. They serve food as well. There is accommodation for people too. Spent maybes 2 hours there. The staff are very friendly and professional and I had a nice chat with one. We were born in the same year!!! This was when the establishment was quiet. Understandably, they can’t be yapping when business gets going. Pay Foley’s in kenmare a visit!!! God bless
Liam O — Google review
We are reviewing the restaurant. We had dinner last Saturday. We were disappointed when we were asked to pay in advance (immediately after ordering before receiving the food). The waitress said the owner or the manager asked that we pay in advance because we were seated outside. As if we will leave without paying. There were others eating outside and were not asked to pay in advance. It seems it is because we were from the Middle Easte. It is a shame because the Irish in general are nice. We had the soup (pumpkin) which was delicious. We also had the baked goats cheese (main dish). It was fine but the goat cheese was too soft. We had two pizzas, the veggie and the goat cheese. The toppings tasted good but the base was too hard and not tasty. The baked salmon was too dry and didn’t taste good. Overall, not a good experience.
Dr. S — Google review
Honestly this is a little gem. Its not a 5 star hotel but doesn't claim to be. Its just perfect little hideaway that makes it so easy to travel the whole area. The owner made us feel at-home and staff were amazing. Nothing was to much trouble. And as for food. That was better then I could have imagined. Good honest and wholesome.
Morgan C — Google review
The staff and food during our 3 day stay were excellent. Joe, Cyrus and Kendra made us feel welcome and engaged with us during meals and drinks. Prices were reasonable with generous portions and great quality. My wife thought the fish n chips was the best of our trip and my hake was flaky and delicious. Bangers n Mash were top notch too! Gladly we’d stay here again.
Paul C — Google review
Foley's was a great hotel. The staff were the best we encountered on our tour. They made our visit most enjoyable. Best thing was, they were able to let us park our motorcycles in the secure yard at the back of the hotel.
Roy F — Google review
A very noisy spot, music from the bar was loud until 1am, a gym beside the hotel starts classes at 6:45 on a Saturday morning and this could be heard clearly from our room. The walls are paper thin, we could hear the conversations of the people next door to us. Rooms were clean with a nice shower but the beds and bedding was fairly uncomfortable. The breakfast was less than average. Overall, very overpriced for what it is, plenty of better options in Kenmare. A very disappointed customer.
Emily M — Google review
This is a review of the Foley's Restaurant and Pub. In ten days of traveling across Ireland this was the worst restaurant we ate at. The service was incredibly slow to begin with, but we finally got our appetizers. After that, it seems they forgot about our entrees as other tables literally sat down, ordered, ate, and left before we got our food. We asked and they acted like nothing was wrong. Once the food finally came, it was terrible. Greasy, chewy, inedible meat. We literally each took a few bites and then couldn't eat anymore. We asked for the check and they could clearly see that no one had eaten their food and yet they didn't not even ask if anything was wrong. Clearly a restaurant that caters to tourists and does not care if the food is bad as they don't expect you to ever come back.

Quinlan's Fish in Kenmare offers a delightful dining experience with its delicious fish cakes, fried squid, and chips. The friendly service adds to the pleasant atmosphere, although it's worth noting that alcoholic drinks are not available. Whether you choose to dine in and enjoy the cozy upstairs seating or opt for takeout, the tasty chowder, fish goujons, and chips are sure to leave you feeling satisfied without being overly full.
Delicious chowder, fish goujons and chips. Felt full but not bloated. The only thing they didn't sort was the weather. Definitely eating here again.

Fish cakes were awesome. Fried squid (calamari) and chips were good but the chips felt a little undercooked. Very nice service. FYI, no alcoholic drinks. Take away is cheaper than eating in. If you eat in, just head upstairs and grab a table and they'll come take your order.

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Kenmare Brewhouse. Not quite as popular as Kenmare Stone Circle, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 6 hours.

Kenmare Stone Circle

4.1
(1018)
Kenmare Stone Circle, also known as the Shrubberies, is a significant pre-historic monument from the Bronze Age. It stands out for its egg-shaped design and consists of 15 boulders with a central Boulder-Dolmen believed to be a burial site. The stones are aligned with lunar and solar events, indicating its likely use for rituals or ceremonies. This attraction is easily accessible from town and forms part of the Kenmare Heritage Trail.
It is a drive through the town to reach the stones. There is an honesty box out for donations and a small shop of gifts. They hand you a tag that you write a wish to hang from the fairy tree. It’s cute and a quick stop.
Lisa B — Google review
There is no entry fees but there is a board at the entrance requesting €2 per person to be dropped, for maintenance and upkeep. Not much except a nice round arrangement of stones. Lots of parking adjacent to stone circle. Quiet place with a stream flowing behind
Kevin T — Google review
If you are doing the Ring of Kerry yourself, this should be on your list for a stop. We were there in the off season, February, and there was no one else around. It costs a couple of euros, and there is an honor box, so bring coins. The walk is very short. The circle is well preserved. There is a tourist-mistreated fairy next to the circle. It is obvious that no one has a history of fairies and wishes by the items hung on this tree. It would be a better experience is people read about hawthorne trees before "making a wish" here, or if there was a placard with some of that information.
Nicole B — Google review
Small but nice stone circle, was busy when we arrived but soon we were the only ones there. Magical feeling to stand among the stones. 2.50 euro entry, and you can write a wish and put it on the tree. Maybe mine will come true one day!
Lewis G — Google review
Super cute spot and fun experience for €2.50, the hawthorn wishing trees are a really nice touch
Monique H — Google review
The stone circle is charming. It is a very short walk from Kenmare, which is equally as charming! The stone circle offers history, fairy trees (were you can leave a wish!), and cute souvenirs, with an authentic and respectful air. We really enjoyed it.
Jessica S — Google review
It is a short walk from the town centre. Parking is available. Lovely location next to the river. Honesty box available when entrance is unattended. If in Kenmare, definitely worth a visit. There isn't much to see, you really need to use your imagination as to what went on there up to 4000 years ago. You can write your wishes on a card and attach it to a hawthorn tree, card supplied at entrance.
L C — Google review
Who knows what happened here. We can only wonder. In ancient times, Hundreds of years before the dawn of history Lived a strange race of people, the Druids No one knows who they were or what they were doing But their legacy remains Hewn into the living rock, of Stone circle Stone circle! Where the demons dwell Where the banshees live and they do live well Stone circle! Where a man's a man And the children dance to the Pipes of Pan

Cromwell's Bridge is an ancient structure dating back to AD 500, originally built to connect monks to a sacred well. Despite its name, it was not actually associated with the military leader Oliver Cromwell. The bridge was funded by Sir Richard Shireburne for the purpose of aiding Protestants in crossing the river to attend services at a nearby church.
Small ancient bridge, full of charm. Worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood
Floriana D — Google review
I actually found this little bridge to be quite fascinating. A mysterious structure just in the back of a neighborhood. There is a pleasant little green space around it and a bench. But the bench area was a bit messy, and again, you are sort of in peoples back yard to some extent. Despite some of the litter, I found the whole scene very peaceful, and the bridge itself very interesting.
Kevin M — Google review
No easy way to see it, walked in the river to view. Super cute though!
Jamie A — Google review
Fantastic spot for a few drinks the morning after a wedding.
Ryan S — Google review
Difficult enough to find. Dates back to about 500AD. Worth giving a look if you are passing.
L C — Google review
Lovely setting, with an amazingly well-preserved arched bridge over the river on the western edge of Kenmare. The spot is easily accessible, yet feels secluded. We were the only visitors during our 20 minute stop, and it was refreshing to feel solitude in an otherwise busy area. The name, Cromwell, refers to the shape of the bridge, not to Lord Cromwell. In Irish, cromwell roughly translates to 'moustache', and is a reference to the bridge's distinctive shape.

Kenmare Brewhouse is a popular spot in Kenmare that offers an extensive selection of in-house roasted coffee, craft beers, cocktails, and a great collection of gin, wine, and spirits. The place also hosts traditional music nights and serves delicious food such as chicken tagliatelle, steak sandwich with butter garlic sauce and mushrooms, pastrami sandwich, and salmon. The bartenders are friendly and the atmosphere is spacious, clean, and comfortable.
Great pub and great food. I had gluten free bbq ribs which were great, chap said they could do most dishes gluten free (except the chips)

It was a real nice diner. Service was quick and friendly! The local beer was tasty! The food was really good and the portion large! And different music every night!!! Really recommend it
Vincent B — Google review
Salmon was perfectly cooked and the bed of carrots were sweet and delicious. Loved how they had non alcoholic erdinger too. They've also got a proper coffee machine 👍🏻 and nice service. There's a combination of booths and small tables in there.
Wing C — Google review
We had lunch at the Kenmare Brewhouse and it was absolutely delicious. The service was fantastic and we would love to come back one day! I had the classic sandwich without ham, but the fish and chips were great too.

Called in on off chance & wasn’t disappointed. Great welcome from all the staff, fast service & lovely food at good prices.
Lorraine — Google review
The staff were super friendly, and the food was great. There is street parking available and a few free public lots within walking distance.
Trevor B — Google review
Passing through on our travels we decided on the Brewhouse as it covered the three requirements for the family, nachos, ribs and fish and chips. All three were really good , but the flavour and tenderness of the ribs were quite simply out of this world. Friendly and helpful staff kept us fed and watered with whatever we wanted, and we finally just had to try the sticky toffee pudding and the apple crumble, and they did not disappoint. Overall a really good evening with great food and service. Would definitely recommend a stop here.

We had a great meal and a wonderful couple of pints!!! My wife had the beef and leak pie and I had fish and chips. My brother in law had the ribs - which were fantastic!

Gleninchaquin Park is a family-owned park and working sheep farm that offers stunning landscapes and scenery. Visitors can wander through woods, grasslands, streams with log bridges, mountain paths with carved steps, rock passages, glens, and lakes to higher altitudes. The park features tumbling cascades and mountain lakes that provide breathtaking views of delicate green meadows.
Well worth a visit with spectacular views and plenty of opportunities to take breathtaking photos and videos. We were greeted by Sheila, who was very friendly, chatty, and informative. It's a bit of a trek, but I'll definitely be back.
Orla F — Google review
This spot was amazing! We spent our last full day in Ireland following part of the red and purple trails here. We were a group ranging from 4 to nearly 70 snd everyone loved it! The views are amazing! We loved walking with the sheep, that was the highlight for my two girls. The host at the reception at the entrance was super helpful in helping us to decide which hike to do and even provided my girls with some lollipops! We loved it here, definitely a must do if in the area!
Sarah B — Google review
Absolutely beautiful. Lady at reception was so friendly as well. Perfect 2hr hike if you're in the area. We did the purple trail and then joined the red trail back around. Would highly reccomend
Jack D — Google review
Amazing views on any trail wht you pick. Proper boots need for the yellow trail. The purple is lovely heritage trail. River walk available The red trail touch the top of the waterfall. Enjoy
Szilvia B — Google review
Incredible place, so many beautiful spots and angles for photos. Do pack some good waterproof shoes if visiting. The routes are really well organised and marked and the park owners/staff were very welcoming and helpful. A unique example of Ireland's spirit!
Andreas A — Google review
We discovered this beautiful park almost by accident as we found ourselves with a half day in the are we were not expecting. We were delighted to discover that our dog was welcome. The road in is exhilarating and a really fun drive. Sheila is fantastic and although we arrived at 4.30, we were assured that there was no problem setting off at that time. We didn't really have any proper walking gear with us so she recommended we do the Heritage trail which takes about an hour. We took a bit longer as we loitered at the punch bowl lake and the beautifully evocative famine cottage . I would 100% recommend a half day or full day here if you have the time. Bring a picnic! €7 entry is a bargain! Thanks Sheila and family
Mark E — Google review
Fabulous views. The red trail is a good hike … recommend starting from the waterfall as that’s the hardest part done first and then you can really enjoy the views on the way down. The yellow route has the steeper part done by the time you get to the divergence of the route into left for Red & right for yellow (waterfall start). There’s still climbing/scrambling over rocks and inclines but wow, the views. You definitely need boots for the yellow and would recommend for red too as rocky and mucky in parts. Both trails are easy to follow. You’ll feel tired & elated at the end!
Aileen H — Google review
Oh my- what a wonderful decision to stop at Gleninchaquin Park on our Ring of Beara Drive! We drove into the most beautiful Irish vista of a sheep filled valley, a stunning waterfall and green mountains. Síla and her family were the most gracious hosts - so welcoming and helpful as we planned our time there and for the rest of our day on the Beara Peninsula. We chose to hike the red loop up to a lovely mountain lake and while part of our group turned on to the purple loop featuring a famine home, the rest of us continued on the red loop to hike up the mountain above the waterfall. On our way back down we were thrilled to walk through sheep grazing and lazing on the mountainside with their lambs. We ended our hike with the charming river path. All of the trails were so well marked and every vista was beautiful- so beautiful that our daughter’s boyfriend decided it was the perfect place to propose!

Uragh Stone Circle, located on the Beara Peninsula, is a prominent Neolithic site surrounded by stunning scenery. The isolated spot overlooks Lough Inchiquin and offers a glimpse into ancient lives as visitors stand among the towering stones. Accessible via a winding dirt road, it's a worthy detour for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The area also boasts great views of mountains and a peaceful atmosphere. Additionally, there are opportunities for hiking and enjoying the picturesque surroundings.
What a majestic stone circle in a breathtaking landscape. I highly recommend taking the windy road up the valley to see it. We were alone there on a Sunday. There were "offerings" left in the circle, showing it is still important for some today. Very moving.
Agnès ( — Google review
Absolutely worth the drive and short walk! Was lucky today. Had the spot to myself, and for one brief moment, the sun peaked out and lit up a rainbow for me. Couldn't have been more perfect!
Megan G — Google review
Very boggy around it. This was my first experience with bogland in Ireland, its a firm spongy land in areas, almost like a gym mat or rubberized track. So dont freak out if you see the ground moving!! Its just your weight bouncing it. There was some construction nearby (stone drilling) when we went, so it was hard to feel any energies here. It felt distant, hidden, solemn. Beautiful area, waterfall at the far end of the lake. Sept 5, 2024.
A ( — Google review
Super cool highly recommend the stop. A little off the beaten trail, you take a one lane road some distance but when you there you have the most amazing view and the whole place to yourself
Caroline C — Google review
This stunning stone age circle is in a stunning location! You can hear the cows and sheep from all over! The site is situated near Gleninchaquin Park. It is easy to access and worth your time!

This place is amazingly beautiful. The drive in was also over the top. The wildflowers and sheep add to one of the best views you will ever see.

Magic ! Such a lovely place, it’s magnificent! You’re surrounded by mountains, cascade, and the calm of the place. Also perfect to enjoy the sunset 😎

Impressive stone circle in the midst of a beautiful mountain valley above the lake. We were there in the morning with perfect light over the mountains - humbling and breathtaking. Well worth a stop. There is a box for admission on the honor system. Drive in is narrow, use caution.

Nestled at the base of Kenmare Main Street, The Horseshoe is a delightful bar and restaurant that exudes an inviting old-world charm. Known for its warm hospitality, this cozy spot serves up traditional Irish cuisine with a focus on hearty dishes like stews and roasts. Diners rave about the unpretentious atmosphere where laughter fills the air, complemented by live music on certain nights.
We 4 had a fabulous dinner at The Horseshoe on Sat night. The food was great but the service made this visit. All 3 FOH staff were wonderful, Ava in particular, was a star. Well done everyone.
Jon F — Google review
One of the best pub meals I have had in years. The ribs were deserving of their famous status while the beer battered fish and chips was very special; the mushy peas were probably the best I've tried. Also a lovely atmosphere as it's in the heart of Kenmare, and the staff are great. Highly recommended.
Ben B — Google review
Super fun place, had your typical bar food, steak was phenomenal. Came back every night for a drink😌 Our server and bartender Ava was very nice and has loads of great recommendations. She really knew her stuff. Thank you for the hospitality from the US!!

Delicious food, drinks and great service! The waitresses were very interactive and our one year old loved them! We would definitely return if we had the time.
Dan P — Google review
We’ve been traveling through Ireland for the first time, and up until this point the hospitality everywhere has been nothing short of amazing. Unfortunately, our experience at The Horseshoe, in Kenmare, was the exact opposite. After a long drive from Dublin to Kenmare, my family and I were excited to enjoy an authentic Irish meal—especially since this trip is part of my mom’s bucket list. We were seated quickly upon arrival, and the establishment wasn’t that busy, but from there, we were essentially ignored. The staff was inattentive and unprofessional, leaving us feeling unwelcome in stark contrast to the warmth we’ve experienced throughout the rest of the country. It’s rare that we’ve had such a disappointing dining experience, and it stood out even more because every other establishment we’ve visited in Ireland has been wonderful. Sadly, The Horseshoe was the only place on our trip where we felt let down. For anyone planning a visit to Kenmare, I’d recommend spending your time and money at one of the many other restaurants in town where the hospitality truly reflects the spirit of Ireland.

I was with a friend last week in this place. Nice and sweet staff, delicious food, I recommend!!

Amazing food!! They have limited options however, we have been twice on our visit to Kenmare and both times each dish has been amazing!

Very young girls behind the bar. Attracting boys, too young to drink. No pub atmosphere, more a youth club.

Rookery Lane Food & Lodging, located on Bridge Street, is a family-run establishment that has been serving delicious meals since 1977. The Buddha Bowl salad and fluffy pancakes are highly recommended by visitors. The food is described as incredibly delicious and would be a sensation even in Berlin, known for its food scene. Guests who stayed at Rookery Lane were impressed with the immaculate rooms finished to a high standard, equipped with all necessary amenities.
Ate here so no comments on accommodation. But food was fabulous! Best breakfast in town, and frankly one of the best breakfasts had recently period. Really well thought through menu, some interesting Mexican flavour combinations as well as traditional dishes, really good!

Was down in Kenmare with work and was recommended the cafe by everyone I asked for local food recommendations. Across my two day stay I came to the cafe twice and loved it. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I got the Breakfast Sambo (and added the hash brown), it was great. If you’re in the area and need a good feed, look no further - 5 stars.

We visited the cafe a few times during our trip to Kerry. After a long cycle it was the perfect place to stop to refuel. Nice menu with vegetarian and vegan options. Lovely location. Five star customer service.
Emma — Google review
This cafe is a must-visit! The lunch menu is wonderfully diverse and delicious, offering high quality across the board. We especially enjoyed the flavourful Asian Miss Thi's soba salad—a true standout. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is simply lovely: super cozy, relaxed, and welcoming. It has a great vibe and worth seeking out for a coffee, pastry, breakfast or lunch.

Arguably one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Excellent service. Wonderful vibe and great music. Very accommodating to children. Really well priced also, considering the quality.
Colin L — Google review
Came here for lunch and had a fab meal. Great vegan option (Japanese Buddha bowl with added tofu scramble) and they also had a vegan sausage roll too (though I didn’t eat). My husband had a v tasty looking hallloumi toasted sandwich and an Irish coffee. Would highly recommend it you fancy some tasty and vaguely healthy food as you pass through kenmare!
Anna M — Google review
Did not stay overnight. I'm not one to leave reviews but in this case I had too. Breakfast was amazing - nicest I've had anywhere - pancakes were devine. Companion had the full Irish - never had better - highly recommend.
Margaret D — Google review
Easily, one of the best restaurants in Kenmare. A small and casual spot, the vibe of the place is relaxed and a little eclectic, punctuated with great music playing in the background. The experience was lovely and welcoming from start to finish. The team are genuinely friendly and you are made to feel at home and looked after. Breakfast was delicious…the menu offering included more than the usual full breakfast or pancakes if you’re feeling for something a little different. Mushroom and Truffle toast and a Mexican inspired option ticked the box for us. (The coffee is also really good if you’re looking for a spot to get your caffeine fix.) The chef is clearly passionate, travelled and skilled. The food quality is high and even though we had read good reviews we didn’t expect the meal to be that good. Everything was fresh and delicious. We did explore a few other places in the town centre for lunch options but none of the other menus sounded as imaginative or appetising as The Rookery so we headed back for lunch. They didn’t disappoint as lunch was equally as fabulous and the welcome the 2nd time around was even warmer. Btw, there is free parking around the corner which makes this spot super convenient so we highly recommend and we will definitely be back whenever in Kenmare.

Absolutely delicious pizza. Very friendly staff and the restaurant was really nicely designed inside too. Some of the best pizza we've had. It lives up to the reviews which we were worried about. 10/10 and definitely recommended!

Nice work Lily and Co. This place was perfect after a long day driving the Ring of Kerry. Great food and amazing service. Even got a red Peroni which I've not enjoyed until today. Bostons north end...eat your heart out. EAT HERE!!!

Tiny, casual pizza joint. Hands down, one of the best pizzas I've had from all the places I've ever visited. The pizza crust was better than almost any bread of the type. Highly, highly recommend if you can get a table. ...and the company at the next table was 😍 (see 3rd Pic!)

We were lucky to happen upon this great Pizzeria, the dough is exceptional, the toppings are of very high quality and some beautiful combinations of great ingredients. The place itself is relaxed and has some eclectic music to listen to and great art to look at displayed on the walls. It is warm, comfortable and cosy. Highly recommend trying this well run establishment, you will not regret it.

Ate here on our first night in Kenmare, after almost 20 hours of traveling, so we were very tired! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the pizza was probably the best I have tasted! Wine portions were generous and service was quick, which was just what we needed after a long day. Would definitely eat here again if we come back to Kenmare.

We dined here last evening, and had a wonderful experience. As a long time home pizza maker, this crust would be a crowning achievement. It was so light, tender, and airy, with amazing flavor. The owners were so welcoming and even gave us some good advice on sites to visit. For a memorable, economical meal, Boxed Wood Fired Pizza is a winner.

Happened upon boxed while on a day trip to Kenmare from Tralee. We came with two kids in tow. We ordered some margarita pizza for the kids and a sandwich for the adults. Never have I had food like it. The sandwich was filled to the brim with fillings. The pizza was the best pizza we have ever had. It was so good that both my kids begged us to come back again during the summer for pizza. 10/10 for everything. Even the swiftness of getting the food out was exceptional. If you want a decent pizza this is the place. Will definitely be back and will travel just for the pizza.

We stayed 3 days at Kemare and 2 times pizza in Boxed restaurant - this tells you everthing!!! Quite busy the restaurant, but they called us back when a table was ready for us. Perfect pizza, you can bring your own wine and a very good Espresso at the end. Clear recommendation when you stay at Kenmare.... Take a pizza from here.
