Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Nestled in the picturesque Conwy Valley, Welsh Mountain Zoo is a conservation zoo offering breathtaking views and a diverse collection of rare animals. From red pandas to tigers and snow leopards, visitors can marvel at exotic and endangered species while strolling through lush gardens. Families can enjoy interactive experiences, educational exhibits, and daily animal encounters. The zoo also features a quiet farm with rabbits and ducks for children to enjoy.
Such a unique place. Staff are friendly and helpful, we went to a few talks which we don't normally do but was easy to get around, not too busy and well worth going to them. The enclosures are a little smaller compared to some other larger zoos but the animals are well loved and cared for. Fabulous views, great playground. A couple of cafes. We got chips/drinks from the safari which were reasonably priced. Plenty of parking and right by the beach so we went there after. Would highly recommend. My 13, 11 and 7 year old loved it. We will definitely go back. Arrived about 10:15 and left approx 15:30.

The walk from Colwyn Bay town to the zoo is intense as it is uphill but it was so worth it. The views were beautiful. Ticket prices are reasonable, staff are friendly & as we went before the schools break up for the summer holidays it was quiet. This gave us time to see everything. We were in awe of the bear, seeing a brown bear was an amazing experience. Even the food was reasonably prices
Kat A — Google review
A lovely little zoo with a beautiful garden a views of the ocean. We saw 90% of the animals during our visit which was amazing, especially the snow leopards. The animal talks were interesting, our favorite was the sea lion training. Only reason for the 4 not 5 stars is due to the food and drink options. During our visit there weren’t any ice creams and the only drinks available were limited warm cans and hot drinks. We ate in the penguin cafe and a basic baguette was £9, which shocked me. Definitely bring your own food. Hot dogs and chips are available in the restaurant for slightly cheaper but were sold out. Toilets were very clean. We spend around 4 hours here. For those wondering you can easily get a taxi from the train station. It cost us £6 with Dales Taxis, walking down to town was fine but you don’t want to have to walk up the mountain to the zoo.
Ella H — Google review
Just visited for the first time and loved it. Spent hours there and even had dinner there. Lots to see on the walks around the zoo. Check out the website. The food was a little expensive but it all helps to keep the place open and the cafe was really clean and modern and well looked after. All the staff were great. Little talks every hour or so but we missed them lol. Would highly recommend.
Skycamvideo — Google review
Brilliant zoo with brilliant talks. Alex was excellent with the bear talk, she was so knowledgeable, not just with bears but with a lot of other animals. Sea lions and the show were fantastic. Food in the penguin view place was really nice and reasonably priced. We took about 5 hours to go around the whole zoo with a 3 year old and 5 year old and stuck around for two talks. We didn’t go at a rushed pace around the park. Gift shop is pricey but then they always are in these places. All in all, a great day out! Just a heads up, it’s cheaper if you book online before the day you choose to go. Don’t book on the day you’re going because it’s more expensive. No family ticket available if you don’t book before the day you go.
Emma M — Google review
Now this is a Zoo! I went here with my partner and 10yr old son. We absolutely loved it from start to finish. The animals were brilliant. The staff went above and beyond; answering any questions or just talking to us about the animals they cared for. I made some amazing core memories with some of my favourite animals. I will be back as soon as I can that's for sure. There are accessible parts of the zoo but it is very much hills and slopes at parts. There are plenty of food places and toilets dotted around the place. There is always some fun activity for the kids to do to keep them busy and interested throughout your visit. Could not recommend this Zoo more highly! It's amazing!
Paula D — Google review
A really nice place to visit. The staff where all friendly and the animals looked well cared for. We spent a good 4 hours + wandering round taking everything in. The paper map is a little hard to follow and I would suggest that perhaps an app maybe better but I can't remember what the phone signal was like.
Lee W — Google review
Recommend coming here Variety of animals and well maintained the habitats were made as well close to orginal habitat of the animals. All of us loved the butterfly enclosure. One thing I'd say is that its kinda confusing trying to find the animals because of the lack of signage and people were ignoring the exit only sign to get into the butterfly enclosure so it created a traffic jam.

Shopping
BayView Shopping Centre, located in the heart of Colwyn Bay, offers a variety of shops and smaller bargain chain stores. It's a great place to find clothing, shoes, and household items while also providing an opportunity to escape the heat during warm hours. The center features ample free short-stay parking, toilet facilities, and coffee shops like Costa. While it may not offer top-end market names, it remains popular despite the decline of high streets in the area.
Nice bright shopping center with loads of shops. It was clean and tidy in there. Nice to walk through from the Travelodge to get to the train station and also to the beach. The parking meters could do with been upgraded to take card payments though. The security guards were on point too kicking out the kids misbehaving. Fair play.

What a great place, everything you may need inside, lots of shops and a good cafe too. Definitely worth a visit.

For a small town it was good. There were a good selection of shops and it was clean, no litter about. Overall I would say if u driving through just pull over and stop in one of the many coffee shops around or have a browse in high st.
John D — Google review
The 1st thing you need to know , their is a ginger cat who looks after B&M shop .. check by the plants and introduce yourself ... Recommend the cafe in the centre as very affordable with home made scones .... Parking is not to expensive.

A lovely little shopping centre with lovely shops and seats to sit and people watch. All you could need for your weekly trip. Plus a couple of charity shops too. No dogs allowed however.

Colwyn Bay Beach, also known as Rhos-on-Sea, is a picturesque Victorian resort that has undergone a revival with the addition of the Porth Eirias entertainment complex. This multi-million pound development features a watersports academy offering classes in jet-skiing, kayaking, sailing and windsurfing. The Bryn Williams bistro at Porth Eirias offers superb seafood without breaking the bank. The beach itself spans three miles and offers stunning views of the bay.
Beautiful beach. Very clean. Lovely shells. Van to get coffee and icecreams lovely. Parking was no problem using pay and display.

Colwyn Bay Beach is a wide, clean stretch of sand with plenty of space to walk, sit, or paddle in the water. The promenade is well kept and good for cycling or a long stroll. There are cafes and parking nearby, making it easy to spend a relaxed afternoon here. Even on busier days it feels open and calm, with clear views across the bay and gentle waves that suit families with children or anyone wanting a quiet spot to watch the sea. It's a reliable choice for a classic North Wales seaside visit.
Patrik K — Google review
Colwyn Bay Beach is a beautiful and relaxing destination on the Scottish coast, offering a wide, sandy shoreline perfect for walking, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the sound of the waves. The beach provides stunning scenic views of the coastline and nearby hills, making it a great spot for photography or simply soaking in the natural beauty. Sunrise and sunset are particularly breathtaking here, creating a peaceful and memorable experience. The beach is very safe, with calm waters suitable for swimming during the warmer months, and families can enjoy a stress-free visit knowing the area is well-maintained. Free parking is available for all visitors, with dedicated spaces for blue badge holders, making access convenient for everyone. A promenade runs along the beach, offering a variety of attractions, including shops, cafes, and restaurants. Visitors can easily grab a meal, a coffee, or a snack while enjoying the sea view. The area also has several nearby attractions, providing options for a fuller day out. Walking along the promenade is a relaxing way to take in the fresh sea air and watch the local life unfold. Colwyn Bay Beach strikes a nice balance between natural beauty and modern convenience. While it can get a little busy during peak times, the wide beach ensures there’s plenty of space to spread out. The clean sand, safe swimming conditions, and family-friendly environment make it ideal for both solo visitors and groups. Overall, Colwyn Bay Beach is a lovely spot to enjoy Scotland’s coastline, offering a mix of scenic views, outdoor activities, nearby amenities, and safe swimming opportunities. Whether you’re visiting for relaxation, a walk, or a meal with a view, it’s a highly recommended destination that’s easy to access and enjoyable for all ages.

Easily one of the best beaches in the whole of the UK! The clean, white sandy shores stretch for miles, so there’s plenty of space to find your perfect spot for sunbathing and relaxing. In the summer, the sand can get quite hot, so be prepared for that, and while you should watch out for jellyfish, we didn’t really encounter any during our visit. Parking spaces fill up pretty quickly, so make sure to get there early to secure a spot. Luckily, we found free off-street parking nearby—it’s a bit of a walk, but definitely worth it. One major downside was the lack of available toilets—many were either non-existent or out of use, including those at the one café there, which was really disappointing. Facilities to wash sand off your feet would also be a great addition. This is something you often find in places like Dubai, and adding it here would definitely elevate Colwyn Bay Beach to outstanding. It would also be helpful to have somewhere to buy umbrellas, deck chairs, towels, and other beach essentials on-site. Overall, a fantastic spot to spend the day by the sea—highly recommend!
Arfan M — Google review
Very nice beach and you can see for miles. You can even see Rhyl. Very nice promenade to walk along with plenty of bin, that would explain the lack of rubbish lying around. The kids said the sand was better than at Rhyl, make of that what you want lol.

Theatr Colwyn is an iconic Art Deco building that has been showcasing movies and hosting various entertainments since 1909. Located conveniently next to Colwyn Bay's railway station and accessible via the A55, it offers easy access from major UK destinations. The theater boasts a well-preserved original structure with modern touches, providing an intimate experience for streamed plays, movies, and live performances. It is known for its welcoming atmosphere and accessibility features such as wheelchair access and a decent accessible toilet.
First time visiting this theatre. Had a great night, Su Pollard is a scream. Love the nostalgia. What a versatile lady . Fun, laughter, and memories. The theatre staff were excellent and helpful and joined in with the atmosphere . Will definitely come again. The size of the theatre was lovely and old-fashioned. We had a great night. Thank you, Su and all at Theatr Colwyn. Julie and Wendy x

Took my Momma to see Su Pollard live, we had front row centre seat's which made us feel part of the show. Su spoke to my Momma from time to time & she had us in stitches, we were completely blown away by her singing voice & had a truly magical evening....topped only by meeting Su at the end. Brilliant evening 🩷

Very lovely small theater. Took my 8y/o, the particular show we went to see was a little bit young for him so we left early, however all the younger children seemed to absolutely love it! I probably wouldn't go again but would wholeheartedly recommend it to anybody with younger children (2-5ish)

The Colwyn Leisure Centre offers various outdoor pitches, a running track, swimming pool, gym and fitness suite. The changing rooms are well-planned and designed with the needs of individuals in mind. The pool is pleasant and accessible to all, thanks to the sloping entry option for those with disabilities. Staff members are not only polite but also friendly - from reception staff to lifeguards.
My son Jonah took part in the intensive rookie life guard lessons over half term. As part of the course he got the opportunity to spend time down at Porth Eirias and was taught sea/ beach safety. He spent time surfing, and learnt a lot about how to keep himself safe in the water, which is such an important skill to have living by the sea. What was lovely is that his feedback was that he was having so much fun whilst he was learning throughout the 5 day course. This is the second half term he has joined the course and he will definitely be booking on again in the future. Thank you to the Conwy fit team :)

Hot showers and nice to not have a freezing pool...but it's not changed in years and year...and nothing works anymore...the sprinkler into the big pool has one lonely soul just about still going, no slides up and running, no bubbles in the jacuzzi and the waterfall is now just a stand alone pole hanging out in the middle of the shallow end. Changing rooms are great but the pool needs updating big time.
Enya B — Google review
Plenty of ladies popular labels, coffee shop 1st floor well worth a visit
John M — Google review
Used to love going here with the kids. Took my youngest daughter after not going here for around 14 years and it's run down now the kids pool didn't have any of the features working like the waterfall from the bridge or the water fountains Was a little disappointed don't think I will go again
Paul M — Google review
Visited for family swim after seeing that there was a slide. When we got into the pool we were told that the slide hadn't worked for years. Changing rooms are shared with individual changing cubicle. The lockers cost 20p so a lot are in use but not locked. Some of the changing cubicles were being used as a replacement to lockers. The showers have a trickle of water which isn't enough to wash with. In the pool the water was not cold, it's salt water, and was nice to get into.

So many activities and facilities right by the sea and coast. Perhaps not great the gym is in a hall but great privilege to have all the choices!

Blod's Coffee Corner is a traditional British cafe offering classic dishes like English breakfasts, fish & chips, and roast dinners. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming with friendly staff and activities for kids. Customers enjoy the freshly cooked food, hot coffee, and pleasant ambiance. Although there were some minor criticisms about undercooked beans and limited stock on one occasion, overall the service was quick and friendly. Visitors highly recommend this cafe for a delightful dining experience.
Popped in for breakfast while staying in Colwyn Bay. Seems to be one of the few places open on a Sunday morning. The lady greeted us very nicely and let us sit where we wanted. It's good old fashioned greasy spoon. Laminated menus and fry ups! I had the mega breakfast which was huge and cost £14. My daughter loved her breakfast wrap. Cracking food at a decent price.

I'm sad to say I was disappointed. We ordered two Welsh rarebits at £4.50 each. What arrived was literally just melted cheese on bread. Completely flavourless and very disappointing. 😭😭

First time I’ve been to Blods since the new ownership. The large breakfast was beautifully cooked and great value for money. Looking at the range of food available there is a good range for all ages. During these quieter months they need our support and it is well worth a visit. Good luck with this enterprise.

Coffee Shop @ Bayview Shopping Centre is a family-friendly spot with a diverse menu and generous portions at reasonable prices. The breakfast options, including the large breakfast, are highly recommended for their superb taste and value. The staff is accommodating to various needs, such as catering to children of different ages and ensuring wheelchair accessibility. Customers appreciate the thick crusty toast that comes with the meals.
Took a bit of a wait to get our breakfast but worth it. Plenty of food on the plate and the toast was definitely a door step size! Well worth the money paid.

Love this place! Great selection of food at low prices. The staff are friendly and helpful and the portions are generous. The thick bread is to die for. My only complaint is that you only get 2 sachets of sauce for free before you have to pay 10p each.
L K — Google review
We decided to support local independant businesses and came here for our morning caffeine hit instead of Costa. What a mistake... We had brought a couple of pasties from the pie shop in the shopping centre and even though i know, strictly speaking we shouldn't have taken out the pies at the table, i didnt think it was a crime. There were only 2 or 3 tables occupied and the rest were empty, but at the site of the pastie bags, the lady from the adjacent souvenir shop (who was also occupying a table without ordering any food/drinks) started flapping her arms in the air to get the attention of the cafe counter staff. The staff member ran over to tell us off, but even after we put the pasties away and continued with our hot drinks, she wouldn't take her eyes off us! No smiles, no customer service, poor quality drinks. Its no surprise this place isnt busy.

We received very poor customer service at the till, the staff were rude and they rushed us. The quality of the drinks we ordered was very poor, the coffee terrible and there was a hair in my tea. Very poor service and hygiene.

The Safari Restaurant

British restaurant
Today, I dined at The Safari Restaurant for lunch while visiting the Welsh mountain zoo. This establishment offers self-serve screens akin to McDonald's for ordering and paying for hot meals, which are then delivered to your table. The overall quality of the food was satisfactory, although slightly expensive as one would anticipate in such locations. I opted for the Southern fried chicken burger, which was delicious, while my partner enjoyed curry with chips and my son had child-sized chicken nuggets with chips.
Clean with helpful staff. We went during the school holidays so there was a bit of a wait, bit they were very upfront about that. We struggled a little to find a table at 'prime' lunchtime. The prices were less than I'd expect from this sort of venue.
Louise F — Google review
Stopped in for some lunch whilst visiting the zoo. The food was nice, pretty standard topped fries and chicken strips. Nothing spectacular but also tasty. It was quite expensive for two portions of fries, two drinks and some chicken strips.
Emily K — Google review
Better off just bringing a pack lunch because that's what the food quality basically is, they messed up and didn't make my order and had to wait an extra 20mins after originally ordering and the staff didn't care. Very impersonal and for the price you'd atleast expect some better, friendly and all around politer staff. Not even an apology after an issue on there end, when you're paying the prices they should atleats treat everyone the same and not have such a bad sense of customer service. Also they said there was a system error but knew exactly what was missing.
Jason. B — Google review
Just been to this restaurant that has been done up really nicely since the last time we have been here. We ordered children meals which were just under £8 each ( no drinks or pudding included) and the meal consisted of soggy fries and 3 chicken nuggets. It was really disappointing. Service was good and restaurant really quiet but now I know why. We will not be returning.
Aneta C — Google review
There were 2 screens for self-ordering. One wasn't working showing no connection, to the other one there was a queue, as it wasn't working right either. I went to the regular till. Coffee and Safari hot chocolate were great. The burger was also great, but my hubby had homemade pulled pork loaded fries, and the pulled pork was really nice but the fries were disgusting as we could tell, they were fried in old oil.

We visited the safari restaurant today for lunch during our trip to the Welsh mountain zoo. They have self serve screens very similar to McDonalds for you to order and pay for hot food, which then is brought out to you once ready. Overall the quality of the food was pretty good, whilst on the pricey side but that's to be expected in such places. I had the Southern fried chicken burger which was really good, my partner had Curry and chips which she enjoyed and my son had the child's chicken nuggets and chips.
Matthew C — Google review
My advice would be to definitely take your own food. Although the staff we seen were nice and pleasant the food was shocking and over priced for what you get. The gravy was like water the cheese had no taste what so ever. The sausages were under cooked and the hot dog bun was hard and stale, we were not the only ones to complain while we were there.

The restaurant offers a relaxed and friendly environment, making it an ideal dining spot for families with children. With its striking beachside location, visitors can enjoy stunning sea views while indulging in delicious meals.
Top notch chippy. Chips well cooked not dry but crisp. Fish beautifully fresh & batter even and crispy. Next time might have a bigger portion. Best I’ve had since last year at Rhyl - Les & Rita’s. So, that makes this one of my top 2 for a chippy! 😄

Had a really pleasant lunch today. And the price was a surprise for a seaside town. 2 x fish and chips £15 fed a family of 4 with soft drink £36. Bit cramped inside but bet it's great in summer.

Got 2 fish and chips for £18.50! Great value. This has to be the best fish I've had from a chippy in a long time. Lovely and crispy batter and chips were delicious too! Curry sauce for the win! Would highly recommend.

I can honestly say this was the nicest fish, chips & peas I've ever had. Was delicious. Fresh & hot. Fish wasn't greasy at all and the fish was bright white . Very tasty and bright green peas . Would definitely recommend and will 100% visit this chippy again when we are here again

We stopped here on the way back from Llandudno. A nice clean chippy We were very lucky we just got there in time before they closed as they closed at 6pm on the day we visited We ordered fish and chips and have to say it was good to see that the fish was freshly battered and cooked The quality of what we ordered was very good and would recommend the food here The gentleman who served us was very friendly which was good. It seemed a popular place as there was a few people ordering the food here

Absolutely delicious fish & chips, yummy amount of salt and vinegar (i like alot and the staff listened to me) Perfect way to celebrate our engagement

I don't normally write reviews, but after spending so much on two meals that were disappointing. I ordered the special fish, chips, mushy peas and roll X2. The chips were over cooked, the fish wasn't great either and as for the mushy peas were Very dry. Very disappointed, I will not be returning again.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with RSPB Conwy, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Eirias Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 6 hours of non-stop fun.

RSPB Conwy is a 114-acre nature preserve that boasts various habitats such as grasslands and salt marsh, making it an ideal home to an array of bird species. Its stunning views across the Conwy valley make the entry fee of 6 pounds for adults well worth it. Visitors can enjoy spotting different types of wildlife, including swans and herons flying around or just relaxing at some of the hides on site.
Lovely first stop in Wales and we really scored with the weather. Walked the lagoon perimeter and enjoyed some fantastic views out over to Conwy and the surrounding hills. Staff were great in telling us what birds to expect and where.

A wonderful nature reserve, well looked after with wonderful staff and volunteers. They have a small cafe serving drinks and snacks and very clean toilets. There a week stocked shop too. Definitely worth a visit 5*

What a marvelous place. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were given an excellent overview of the work being done on the site and have to say the enthusiasm of the team is wonderful to see. A special mention for Jake for his advice and guidance. We enjoyed a lovely walk observing many birds and a few squirrels along the trail and in the estuary. We stopped at a number of hides and had great fun trying to identify the numerous species going about their business. The scenery and the abundance of birds made for quite a special day out.

Fabulous place to visit. It's well thought out with beautiful scenery. Great paths for the disabled and chair. Easy walking for the not so able. Great café. Cheap entrance fee. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended

We've been meaning to visit for a long time but actually managed it today as read online there was also a Farmers Market taking place. We had a lovely walk around and spent time in a few of the hides watching the various birds. Hoping for a lot of rain which will sort out the water problems in the lagoons! We would definitely recommend a visit and we'll be back soon.

Seriously beautiful place. Great little family outing. Good value, decent little play area for the kids and the main circular walk was interesting and not too long for our young kids.
Oliver D — Google review
Situated off A55 J18, RSPB's North Wales location takes advantage of a site once used to receive ground excavations for the A55's Conwy Tunnel. The site features freshwater wetland, a modern visitors centre/store, and a cafe. The facilities are excellent, and include ample parking, great accessibility, toilets/baby changing facilities and also a playground. Dog walkers beware that canines are not allowed, however a trail joins the visitor centre to Conwy, and anyone prepared to walk for 20-30 minutes during summer months will probably reach Conwy Harbour before successfully finding a parking place in town. RSPB is a charity, so be prepared for a modest entrance fee unless your visit is restricted to the cafe only, and be prepared for well versed volunteers asking for donations!

A great place to break the journey to Anglesey. A walk round the reserve was relaxing and we saw various wildflowers, including lots of Southern Marsh Orchids and plenty of waterfowl and waders.

Bryn Euryn Nature Reserve, located just a short distance from Rhos-on-Sea, offers visitors a blend of natural beauty and historical significance. The reserve is home to the remains of Llys Euryn, an ancient medieval mansion dating back to the 1400s. A conservation effort in 1999 restored and secured the site for visitors to explore.
Beautiful place the walk to the summit is a killer it's quite steep, but worth it for the views, the ruins were great also, a quiet place with a few dog walkers.

A nice walk up to the top though a small wooded area and a old ruin with some good views at the top. A small walk but step is areas but most people should find it fairly easy to do
John A — Google review
Great place for a back to nature walk, lots of different paths snaking through everywhere. Stout footwear required as the paths can be muddy with stones and tree roots galore. Accessible from different areas, can be quite steep in places with step steps or just paths depending on where you walk. The dogs had a great time in here charging about. Worth the hike up to the summit at the hill fort for the fantastic views!
Claire C — Google review
A beautiful walk up to the summit with amazing views on the way. One of the best views ever experienced. Nice light and easy climb, not too strenuous. Many places to sit along the way and easy signs to follow. Stunning views. A must visit
Maryam S — Google review
Beautiful walks and the ruins are worth the steps to go and look at. There is a more gentler way too. Brilliant for dogs and strengthening your calf muscles. Plenty of parking and kids would love it.
Tracey L — Google review
This is well and truly a gem of a place that offers solitude and tranquility in volume. The woodland walk is by far the best in my opinion, but also the added bonus of the ruins, the summit trail… and the views are profound. With plenty of nooks and crannies to explore it is a great place to have a hike or just a gentle ramble… or to just gather your thoughts. A local place to Rhos on Sea but nature at its best!
David B — Google review
This was a 'childhood memories revisited' trip! It's a relatively steep walk up and down with the most incredible views from the top. The ruins of the former Conway family home are nearer the bottom and well worth a visit. There is parking at the bottom of Bryn Euryn.

Good Facility. Don't like the fact the pitch is astro. All the players came off with no skin left on theor knees. Not compatible with Rugby.

It was hot and sunny, an unusual event, but the park was very quiet, not many kids were about and they're still on school holidays. The menu features delectable options like the SIP eggs, traditional breakfasts with perfectly cooked poached eggs, sautéed mushrooms, avocado brunch, and Miners Benedict.
Such a fantastic family run cafe. Staff are always friendly and make you feel welcome. Love the decor, feels cosy. Perfect avocado on toast. Their Chai lattes are my favourite around. 100% worth a visit will definitely return.

Fish & chips restaurant
Enochs Fish & Chips is a beloved establishment that has been serving up delicious meals for years, with locations in Valley and Llandudno Junction. This charming restaurant takes pride in its ethical approach to sourcing ingredients, ensuring that every bite is not only tasty but also responsibly produced. The menu features an enticing mix of traditional favorites and innovative dishes, including their renowned fish and chips, which boast a perfectly crispy batter paired with fluffy chips made from locally sourced potatoes.
As an East Yorkshire man I love a well cooked Haddock with a light crispy batter. Being From Hull once the biggest fishing port in UK I can say that it's difficult to find a really good chippy outside Yorkshire (bias implied) But I have to say Enochs Fish and chips restaurant is one of the best I've been to ! They have a large selection of fish dishes from traditional buttered to parchment oven baked fish . We even had a Thick milkshake & some monkey fingers For pudding The service is friendly & has a family feeling too. I highly recommend a visit. My Haddock was cooked to perfection with no grease left on the plate either, you can ask for extra chips if you need any we didn't but the offer was there . Overall fantastic food great service. We will be back
Mark H — Google review
Not worth the price! We stopped off here as it was the top rated chip shop in the area, I’ve no clue why people have rated it so highly. We waited over 30 minutes for fish and chips, and also sausage and chips. My main concern being the price they are charging for the portion of food. I have seen bigger children’s meals than what we were served. My sausage and chips was £11 and the fish and chips was around £15. Extortionate prices. Cost us £32 including two drinks. The only good thing was that the food was hot and tasted really good. Complained to staff about wait times and portion size but did not receive a discount, just a few more chips. Don’t believe every good review you see
Megan K — Google review
This was definitely among the best fish and chips I’ve had. I was visiting Conwy on holiday and came across Enochs by chance, it turned out to be an amazing find. The spicy fish was especially tasty, with a flavourful batter and really fresh fish. The whole team was lovely, and the lady who served us was so warm and welcoming. The place had a great vibe, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting Conwy.

Had fish and chips here - overall very good! The fish was fresh and nicely cooked, though I personally would have liked a bit more salt or seasoning as it was quite plain. Chips were tasty and the staff were very friendly, which made the visit pleasant.

What a wonderful fish and chip shop in Llandudno Junction. I took my friend for lunch. She particularly likes plaice in batter which is not always easy to find, as it’s often only offered pre-prepared in breadcrumbs. I checked with Enoch’s the previous evening and they promised to keep a piece of plaice for her to be prepared as she likes it - they obviously use fresh fish and prepare it to order. My friend was delighted - as you can see the portion was massive, the batter light and crispy, and the chips well cooked, firm on the outside, fluffy inside - perfect! Being greedy I asked for a second “bucket of chips” and that came free of charge as promised on the menu. The serving staff were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. All in all a great experience for both of us. Thank you.
Ann J — Google review
The menu is miscellaneous, many types of fish & chips, burgers. I rate this place 10/10. Spicy fish strips and prime hake fillet are spot on 🤌🏽. Next time I'll give it a try for the plaice fillet 🤠. Good service and the staff is very friendly. Dine in or takeaway and one parking space in the front up to 90 min 👍🏽

Beware non-British customers of this takeaway. After taking our orders, we patiently wait in the waiting area. I noticed that other customers that behind us, which are all British/white were being served immediately. We waited about half an hour for two kebabs and a 10 inch Hawaiian pizza. We had a fantastic breakfast experience at this lovely place! The service was excellent from the moment we walked in—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast, and my wife was thrilled with her gluten-free vegetarian big breakfast, which was both generous and full of flavor. Our kids were especially happy with the children's menu. Their smiles said it all when the kids' hot chocolates arrived—piled high with whipped cream and marshmallows! It's rare to find a spot that caters so well to everyone's needs, and this place nailed it. Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for a great brunch spot!

Such a good spot to eat, highly recommend! The staff were amazing from start to finish, especially Neil! Came here this morning for a birthday breakfast with my cousin and best friend. The food was very delicious, I didn’t have time to take a photo of my pancakes because I was too busy eating them as they were sooo good!! Atmosphere was amazing and food came out straight away. Special thanks to the team, and for my free cake as it was birthday !! Thank you for making birthday extra special!

#colwynbay Straight in 10/10 👜 handbag restaurant review for all the food today especially the ‘perfect’ Baked Alaska 👏👏This is one of our favourite restaurants. Check out the open kitchen it’s immaculate. Love the fab views overlooking the sea. Love the vibe in here very relaxing. Well trained and informed staff all in uniform and kitchen staff and chefs in clean whites. There is also a cafe to the side for walk ins from the beach. Great to walk or cycle along the coastline outside the restaurant. Highly recommend you try here for breakfast/lunch/afternoon tea and dinner 😁 We will be back.

Positives. Lovely views. Lovely interior and outdoor area. Drinks well presented. Nice little instagramable place. Tea was nice. If you’re a dog owner you can bring it here to the outdoor area Negatives. Cappuccino was a bit bland. If you’re not a dog person be prepared for them to be sitting there whining and shaking themselves everywhere on you from them being in the sea. Staff, could be a bit happier. Couldn’t see any kind of light bites options (sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc) on the menu we was given, only starters, mains and puddings (unless they was on a menu we wasn’t given) but I guess if you want 3 courses you may like it.

Having read the reviews and following Bryn on tv etc we Booked a table for lunch after staying over for a night locally before travelling home to Manchester after a few previous days holiday at Portmerion. Absolutely worth the visit, fabulous Crab Rarebit and S& P Squid starters followed by wonderful regular Fish Finger mains. Topped off with a Nojito and Gower Zero Ale. Cannot praise the staff service and food enough and cannot add more( apart from a couple of other photos) than what has already been said in other reviews plus other great photos. A special thanks to Josh who looked after us even though we didn’t stay too long as we wanted to try and beat the forecasted stormy bad weather and tea time traffic jams around Manchester which we just ran into when nearly home. Hope to revisit again when we return to lovely Wales. Barbara and Hugh Williams

Thanks to the host for quick thinking after some confusion. I visited in August for my Nan’s birthday and it wasn’t clear on the website that afternoon tea was served later than the time we booked. With a flight to catch, it looked like we might miss out, but the host and team pulled it out of the bag and managed to whip up a fantastic afternoon tea. The food was delicious, the cocktails were beautiful, and the service was excellent. All round, I would definitely recommend this place for afternoon tea and special occasions.

We only stopped for a coffee, but will be back for the Eggs Benedict another time. Being by the sea is just magical and finding the place excited us as we love a good quality restaurant/bar. Very dog friendly with water bowels and an outside area to bring them to. Inside looked very inviting, and is on our to do list next time. ♥️

Lovely setting. Good atmosphere. Had the daily catch fish fingers, very nice. The chips were very disappointing, looked like fries from McDonald's. My friend had the smoked haddock with poached egg and the other friend had the belly pork. They were really nice. Both my friends had the baked alaska. Looked and tasted amazing.

Awesome View. Enjoyed Sunrise, people are blessed to stay here may be more places we are yet to explore but really loved our stay during our trip.
Raghu — Google review
A sadly truncated erection, that sits underwhelmingly back and away from the sea. The structure as is has been faithfully built to replicate the original, which had declined burnt, and had been allowed to run to ruin. After magnificent murmurations, the derelict pier allowed a safe home for starlings to roost overnight. They say that they intend to lengthen the structure, in the financial climate, we find ourselves in, in 2023 that project seems at best fanciful. Strange to say, they have built a fishing pier at the Old Colwyn end of the beach, combined the two structures might well have made perfect sense, but that no doubt would have been a political decision therefore sense would have had little or nothing to do with it.

If you're on the hunt for unique antiques, look no further than Coast Antiques in Conwy. This charming shop is not only home to exquisite pieces like a Victorian post box but also boasts a proprietor who is both knowledgeable and helpful. Customers have praised the seamless buying experience, with Shane being particularly noted for his honesty and efficiency when collecting items. He arrives punctually, sticks to agreed prices without haggling, and ensures that transactions are smooth and professional.
Had table and dining chairs to sell which Shane was interested in. He agreed a price and a date and time to collect the items. He purchased the items for the agreed price. He did not quibble. The whole collection process lasted no longer than 30 minutes. He is honest, efficient and a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend him.

Shane, came to my parents property whilst they were moving out and collected a dining table and chairs, two sideboards and a display case. Clearly competent and knowledgable, he turned-up when he said he would and he did not haggle on the agreed price. So if he sees something you are selling on Facebook Market and agrees a price you can be certain that he will stick to his word!

Buying over a distance can be difficult. Firstly the description needs to be detailed and accurate. The Edwardian Display Cabinet had a detailed description and the measurements were perfect. Shane sorted out a very good Courier, and was delivered with no problem. A real pleasure to deal with. Thank you.

We visited on Easter Sunday dinner. The restaurant doesn’t look so inviting on the outside as it is a bit further inside. Lovely Indian instrumental music playing with a nice cosy ambiance. We ate 1. Chicken Bhuna gravy 5/5 2. Chicken balti 5/5 good quantity. 2 can easily share 3. Chana masala - 5/5 4. Chapatis 5/5 hot, straight off the pan We had a wonderful value for money meal. We paid 32.5 for 3 people. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely family meal for my mother’s birthday. The buffet was delicious. The staff were very polite and welcoming. At the end of the meal they gave my mum some bubbles and a birthday card from their staff. Lovely evening many thanks will definitely be back.

It pains me to say the place was quite DIRTY, and I feel like a fool for paying 52 pounds for the pleasure of eating a plate of old burnt rice. With which confidence they offered me and my husband the buffet option, knowing the trays were mostly empty? Sticky tables and lots of flies. 52 pounds, they charged me with no shame. How is this place still open? One wonders.

A quiet night in winter. We were one of only two tables in the restaurant. You can bring your own alcohol as they don't have a licence. There is a bargain booze shop across the road. We opted for vegan dishes and the owner was very helpful recommending what dishes could become vegan. Overall very tasty and if I have any criticism it would be that the portions were very large. Overall very good.
Paul M — Google review
We had dinner here with a larger group on Friday. On that day, the restaurant offers either a buffet option or dishes from the à la carte menu. A buffet had been prepared, although most of the tables were empty and the place was far from busy. Unfortunately, the buffet offered very little variety. The overall impression was quite poor. Instead of proper tablecloths, the tables were covered with old plastic sheets, which were sticky and dirty. The entrance area already looked filthy, and the toilets were even worse – they had a strong, unpleasant smell of urine, which made them almost unusable. Some of us chose the buffet, while others ordered from the menu. Although the buffet was set up quickly, we waited over 40 minutes for the à la carte dishes. The food itself was disappointing. The chicken biryani, for example, wasn’t salted at all, and the flavours were bland, lacking the spiciness and richness you would normally expect from Indian cuisine. Nothing was particularly well-seasoned or memorable. The drinks were also a letdown. The “mocktail” was nothing more than mango juice from a carton mixed with lemonade and ice – no fresh fruit, no mint, no garnish. Everything seemed done in the cheapest possible way, yet the prices were comparable to those of a high-end restaurant. Overall, the experience was very poor, and I cannot recommend this place.

The staff were super welcoming and lovely and once we mentioned it was my girlfriends birthday they gave her a HUGE slice of cake which was super tasty! The food was super good value for money and super cheap (only £23 for 3 people and amazing size portions). I got the full english and my only comment was that my sausages and tomatoes were the cheaper options they could serve, but for the value of what I got I wouldn't complain. Flea & Street Markets
Colwyn Bay Street Market is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, especially during the holiday seasons. The market offers a wide variety of goods, from fresh produce to fashion, accessories, household items, plants, and tools. Visitors can expect traditional handcrafted items and artisan stalls on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Additionally, the market hosts a vibrant street market every third Saturday of the month with homemade products, music, food, and street artists.
Fantastic ice cream van down bottom end of promenade. It's also very clean and tidy down by sea front great for walking or biking.
Malcolm G — Google review
Saturdays and Tuesdays are market days in Colwyn Bay. A fairly typical street market, nothing too special or unusual about the items on sale. Having said that occasionally one finds a treat of a stall offering local produce. We used to have a continental market that visited the town (a pitty but not of late). On a sunny day the market and even the town is worth a visit! Update January 2023 - the market has as good as gone.

Unable to review as despite everything saying g the market was on and open it clearly wasn't. A local shopkeeper said its been closed for ages

Plenty of stalls , for a change. Brought some needed trade to the town. Regular market stalls are few these days so this week- end was nice to see.
Viv B — Google review
Great artisan street market, every 3rd Saturday of the month. Lots of great stalls all hand/home made. Music food and street artists.
Joy B — Google review
Just a few stalls, nothing to tempt me. HS a shopping centre with 3 hours free parking below or 2 hours above. Must stick card in payment machine to validate before leaving ☺️
Stephen S — Google review
Colwyn Bay's street market takes place every Tuesday and Saturday. As I work in Colwyn Bay I tend to visit more or less every Tuesday, as much as anything because it would be difficult to avoid given it's location in the town centre. There was a time I used to look forward to it. Colwyn Bay has a very limited selection of shops so lunchtimes can be a bit boring and repetitive so the market meant new things to see and perhaps purchase. Sadly though these days the number of stalls has diminished and it seems that every Tuesday sees exactly the same stalls in exactly the same places so the market has become as boring as the rest of the town. It really needs an injection of fresh blood with some new traders to mix things up and provide a bit of variety.

Market
Colwyn Bay Artisan Market is a monthly event held on the third Saturday of each month, featuring festive stalls offering a variety of gifts, food, and crafts. The market extends from Station Road to Sea View Road, showcasing high-quality artisan products. Visitors can explore the pedestrianized area behind the Bay View shopping center for an enhanced experience, with options like vegan cheese, pies, and handcrafted items available for purchase.
We thoroughly enjoyed the vegan market again, it was even better this year as it was sited in the pedestrianised area behind the Bay View shopping centre. I bought vegan cheese (horseradish and parsley - seriously savoury, absolutely delicious), several vegan pies (only tried the Kate and Sydney pie so far, also delicious) and some knitted animals from Idlewild, Animal Sanctuary who need all the support they can get. Other family members bought a bamboo windchime, and metal bat to hang from the ceiling, skin lotions and some jams/preserves. All the stallholders were lovely, and it was good to see so many people there shopping. Look here for more vegan markets from the same organisers: https://www.theartisanmarketcompany.co.uk/markets
Mike B — Google review
The artisan market takes place once a month in Colwyn Bay, on the third Saturday of each month, and spreads down Station Road and into Sea View Road. Whilst I didn't buy anything I was surprised at the number of stalls, all of which looked to selling what I would class as proper "artisan" products. It's certainly a step up from the market that takes place on the other Saturdays and which is mainly made of stalls flogging cheap tat. The most surprising thing for me though was the number of people attending the market. It was a dry, mild and not especially cold day but even so I haven't seen Colwyn Bay so busy and vibrant for many years. It's a shame it only happens once a month, but perhaps it wouldn't get so busy if it happened too often and they know what they're doing by not overdoing it.

Today I visited Llyfrgell Bae Colwyn Bay Library after a long time. Kate, a helpful young girl, showed me how to borrow books and even provided information on computer courses. The library has a friendly atmosphere and offers a variety of good books. It has both ramps and steps for easy access, as well as facilities for classes and courses. St Paul's Church in Colwyn Bay is a delightful place that truly embodies the spirit of community. Recently, I attended a Civic Service for the Mayor and was pleasantly surprised by the church's charm and cleanliness. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly locals making everyone feel welcome. While the organist's music can sometimes overshadow the choir, it doesn't detract from the overall experience. It's worth noting that some have wondered about the absence of chiming bells—perhaps there's a story behind it?
Why are the bells not chiming the hour, has someone been offended by them?

The flowers are great but the fountain is neglected and not working covered in weeds it needs cleaning and reinstating. Its a nice place to sit by Rydal school buildings loads of benches distanced for privacy lovely place for a picnic or just a sandwich at lunchtime. But it could be better. Come on Colwyn Bay Council get it fixed please.

We went to the Civic Service for the Major of Colwyn Bay, not been in this church before but what a lovely church. The only comment I would make is that the organist plays to loud and you cannot hear the choir or singer.

As a disabled photographer, and a local to the area, I really wanted to see the Pier Closing Time exhibition, but thought it would be difficult in a wheelchair. How wrong was I? A lift up to the gallery, some great photos, and a welcome chat with the owner afterwards. A thoroughly enjoyable hour, and made to feel very welcome. Many, many thanks. I'll certainly be back.

It was a delightful experience visiting Bay Gallery, where the staff provided exceptional assistance and were very pleasant. This was my third visit and once again the customer service was excellent. I made a purchase of a large framed photograph by Dave Smith, which exceeded my expectations. The gallery showcases original artwork, woodturning, ceramics, and jewelry created by local artists. The prices may be slightly steep for some items but overall it is a fantastic initiative to support local talent.
Great gallery with a nice selection of paintings, glass items and jewellery and cards. Felt able to browse but staff also very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

Freshmans & Co. Fish & Chips is a popular spot for delicious takeaway meals, offering convenient curbside pickup options. Visitors have praised the generous portion sizes and non-greasy batter of their Haddock, battered sausage, and chips. The indoor seating area is family-friendly with highchairs available, while outdoor seating is also an option. Customers have raved about the impeccable service and affordable prices, recommending the homemade fishcake as a must-try item on the menu.
One of the best fish & chip places I've visited to in quite a while. The place was nice & clean, and very well lit. I ordered the homemade fishcake, chips & peas The fishcake tasted superb, nice & creamy texture to it. The chips were well done & not too greasy. I also tried the spam & cheese fritter which was a first on me, and gets a thumbs up, very tasty. The service was quick & very welcoming, the place isn't too noisy either.

Took a look at the menu and decided to go in fish chips peas bread and butter and a mug of tea. The food was cooked fresh and arrived steaming hot. The nicest fish and chips I have had for ages and at a nice price to. Will be back!!!!!

We ate in and I had a special fish with chips and mushy peas nicely presented at a sensible price with brilliant old fashioned service and a large mug of coffee. Excellent !! We'll be back.

Really good fish and chips! Would recommend! Just knocked a star off as we asked for salt and vinegar but got none and you'd closed by the time we were home and realised :(
Sophie W — Google review
Really great bargin, but I couldn't work out the difference between the special cod and standard fish and chips. A family came in about 10 minutes after me ordering 3 specials and then another guy did the same alongside a couple of men, all served before me. Not sure why mine took longer as the portion size was the same as the soecial. I'd go again and get the special...no point in the Fish and chips.
Shontelle W — Google review
Wow! This place offers the most amazing portion sizes , fantastic quality and all for a great price. Cheapest fish and chips I’ve had for ages. So glad we chose to eat on our way home from Llandudno and call in at Colwyn bay. The girl who was serving was friendly and helpful and seemed to be running everything on her own - well done! Will definitely return . Outstanding !

We had a lovely lunch today at Freshman’s. The fish was cooked nicely & the batter was crisp. We couldn’t believe the fantastic value & the waitress even advised us on the specials. The restaurant was dog friendly as well which was great as we were with our cockapoo ☺️.
Emma W — Google review
Great place to eat. Clean and tidy, the male staff member is humorous. If you don’t want to take away you can eat in which I saw a few people doing. The batter wasn’t too hard that it will break your teeth like it is in England, but between nice and soft in Scotland and hard in England. Would deffo return if I come back to Colwyn.

Fast food restaurant
KFC Colwyn Bay, a renowned eatery famous for its buckets of deep-fried poultry, offers an array of value meals and accompanying dishes. Although the staff were tidying up as the closing time approached, options such as boneless chicken, rich gravy, and creamy mashed potatoes were no longer available. To ensure a wider assortment of choices, it is advisable not to leave your visit until the final moments like I did.
10/10 service and fast hot food 5 stars clean area

This is the worst KFC we've ever been in. We arrived on a Monday evening and ordered our food at the electronic order screens. The food took an extremely long time to arrive. Everyone in the queue was complaining with one man asking if the staff were having to kill the chickens. But that wasn't the worst of it. As soon as we walked in, all we noticed was that the place was absolutely filthy. The bins were overflowing, there was rubbish lying on the floor, on the counters, it was literally everywhere, although it wasn't busy. At all. Clearly the staff don't have any pride in the place. It's disgraceful. We watched one member of staff come out to the drinks machine and refill his own flask and then go back behind the counter completely ignoring the mess of the place and the ever impatient customers waiting to be served. What an awful experience. Don't eat here. It clearly needs a new manager.
Charlotte E — Google review
SLOW FOOD definitely not fast food!! Slowest service ever. One person in front and took twenty minutes to be served. Then 32 minutes to get the food. Wouldn’t eat in. Was dirty. Deliverooo and Just Eat are obviously more important than individual customers. Manager is lazy stays in his ivory tower office. Came out to do a refund and went back in. Waited another 32 minutes to receive food. If I hadn’t of said where’s my food I’d still be there now. Oh and surprise surprise the order wasn’t complete. Missing fries in the box.

The Harlequin Puppet Theatre, located in Rhos-on-Sea, Wales, is Britain's oldest permanent puppet theatre. Established in 1958 by Eric Bramall and currently managed by his former puppeteer partner, Chris Somerville, the theatre offers performances during school holiday periods and the main summer season. Visitors of all ages have described it as a magical experience that captivates both young and old alike.
I recently had the pleasure of attending a performance at the Harlequin Puppet Theatre, and it was incredible from start to finish. The theatre itself is a charming and welcoming space - perfect to draw you in. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and well-cared-for. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Took a trip down memory lane at the Harlequin Puppet theater, a fabulous experience and well entertained. Great team at the theater and good to see such passion to entertain the audience, would fully recommend to anyone looking to step back in time or allow youngsters to sample such a historic entertainment.

A beautiful historical site the first built purposeful puppet theatre - it’s a pity it was shut - though they was someone in the office you could see but they did not say much to you even though we knocked on the door - quite eerie but I’m sure if open would be great to see some of the productions
Gurraj J — Google review

A treat if you haven't been before. One man's passion to keep puppets from history alive. Children will love the magic tricks. Theatre could do with a face lift but Rhos needs to support this gem.

This is one of the most magical experiences I have ever encountered. I highly recommend anyone book and go to a performance - it is fabulous for everyone both young and old. My 3 & 4 year olds both turned to me and said ‘mummy I just love this’. Chris your show is incredible and so endearing - we can’t wait to visit again, you and the magic you create in your theatre is a beautiful masterpiece like no other. Thanks so much for having us :)
Sonia S — Google review
What a find! Me, my husband and our 4 year old absolutely loved the show - puppets, magic tricks and an ice cream interval what's not to like! Chris is such a lovely man, he's fantastic with the little ones and runs the whole place single handed. You should be very proud. We will definitely be back and will be telling everyone about you!
Katie A — Google review
We have been here twice and it was very enjoyable. It's old fashioned entertainment which won't be available for ever. It's run by one man who does everything from box office to manning the marionettes and includes a magic show. It's very geared towards the children but it's very entertaining for adults as well. The theatre is a bit run down but it's good value for money and should be supported more.

Duncan B — Google review
These woods are perfect for exploration, the wildlife, the flora and fauna is wondeful. Many well kept and wide paths all located on a fairly steep hillside. The views across Colwyn Bay towards the sea, to Rhos on Sea and over towards Rhyl and Prestatyn are framed and seen through branches and foliage. Runners, joggers, walkers and dog walkers. One too many discarded and full black bags, a branch is no substitute for a bin of which there are plenty. There is no dedicated parking but access from the town is easy. A walk from either end of the woods starting from, at one end Kings Road or at the other end Nant y Glyn Road allow for easy access. Access is also available from Colwyn Hights.

Magnificent church in Colwyn bay with the ebullient Father Frank (2018). Friendly, welcoming atmosphere and spirited singing of hymns in the Sunday morning 11 o'clock mass. If you're on holiday in the area, do call in and you won't be disappointed. At the weekends there is also a Saturday evening mass at 6 pm. Church set in spacious grounds with ample parking nearby. I was very fortunate to have a lunch date at this wonderful restaurant on Sunday. From the moment you entered you felt a warm and friendly vibe. Staff greet you with a warm welcome. The setting is idyllic and the autumnal views into the garden are magical. Our server Kai G is a credit to the team. Whilst I waited for my partner I had a Guinness poured by a barman from Queensland. He was very jovial and informative of local dark ales that are served. A log fire created the perfect ambiance and we were seated by Kai G. The menu is extensive. We ordered the beef salad, calamari and lamb shoulder roast dinner. The food was delicious and all cooked to perfection. The gravy, roasties and seasonal vegetables were all a delight. The lamb was melt in your mouth perfection. The portions were hearty, wholesome and nothing was wasted. Kai G was attentive, charming and very professional. No service charge is included in the bill, however I tipped to show my gratitude. Highly recommended.

We made reservations and so had no wait. Apparently when making a reservation, you have to know to ask for a table with a view. As we were being seated, I asked for the table next to the windows and was told it was reserved. Hostess was fairly abrupt with me. Since this was our first time, we couldn't have known. The crispy squid with sweet chili mango. Very tasty and nice balance between the sweet and spicy. I had the prosciutto wrapped halibut with muscles as my main. The halibut itself was perfectly cooked and the sauce was very tasty. I thought the dish was overwhelmed a bit by the amount of peas and potatoes. My glass of wine paired wonderfully with the fish. Though hostess was abrupt, my wait staff was fabulous. She was warm and kind. She helped make the evening better.

Beautiful place with stunning views. Food was plentiful and very good quality. Need to sort out kimchi because it didn’t taste fermented. Staff helpful. Had to chase waitress for the kids menus as she forgot to bring them. Relaxed atmosphere. We all enjoyed ourselves celebrating my gorgeous granddaughter’s 3rd birthday here.

Recently went here on a Sunday with the Family whilst we were visiting up in North Wales for the weekend. Food was amazing, the service was second to none and the place was absolutely beautiful. The staff were just on another level, so helpful, efficient and friendly. My son is non verbal with learning difficulties, and they catered for him effortlessly. Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

my husband and I came here yesterday for our wedding anniversary meal. we came here 8 years ago for our wedding reception, and service, food and atmosphere has always remained top notch, ever since then. our waitresses yesterday were great (so sorry I didn't catch their names), took my allergy seriously. the restaurant was clean, tidy and peaceful. we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there, as always. thanks again to the Pen-Y-Bryn.

Delicious food! Very friendly staff. Excellent cask ales. Dog friendly in the bar area but open plan so you still feel connected to the restaurant.

The Toad is a renowned restaurant in Colwyn Bay, offering traditional British home-cooked food with stunning sea views. The establishment has been a staple for over 100 years and is known for its warm service and timeless interior. It's a dog-friendly pub where patrons can enjoy a laid-back pint alongside their furry friends. The menu features dishes like fried salmon, fish and chips, rump steak, chicken supreme, teriyaki glazed pork belly, and Jamaican banana and vegetable curry.
Excellent bar to watch sunset on the beach with clear view and less to no crowd. Good variety of drinks available. Definitely a place to visit more then once, will be coming back soon.

Booked here for a Sunday teatime meal based on the good reviews, but I gotta say I was very disappointed and completely underwhelmed with both the food and service. We arrived 10 mins early and was seated straight away and given menus, but it was another 15 mins before staff approached with drinks that were not for our table before belatedly coming back to us and asking if we had ordered drinks! Another 15 mins went by before I asked a staff member if someone could take our order, only to be told there were several tables before us that needed to be seen first! When staff did arrive for the order we asked what the fish of the day was only to be told it was not on the menu today, which should have been mentioned when we were initially seated. 2 lots of sirloin steak and a haddock and chips were ordered for mains, with 1 mushroom pate for starters. The pate was nice. The haddock was cooked nicely. The steak was not nice, I left more meat than I ate. The mushroom brandy sauce was the redeeming feature on the plate, it was lovely, but looking at what was on the plate there was no way it was worth £31 - I’ve had far better steaks with more accompaniments for far less than this. We then tried a dessert, 2 lots of churros with toffee sauce and an Eaton mess - I’ve had better churros from Tesco and the sauce was cold. The mess was exactly what it was, a mess - a meringue nest with a scoop of ice cream with a tart berry sauce thrown on a plate. Not once were we asked if the food was ok or if we wanted any further drinks. I’m not sure if we were just unlucky here or what with lots of other good reviews, but I won’t be going back here after this, for those prices and for what we got, just not worth it!!

Went for a full meal getting the Prawns, Short rib and onion ring, everything cooked to perfection, and the onion rings being some of the best I've ever had, as you bit into the onion wasn't chewy or stringy at all and just pulled apart perfectly. The place was short staffed at the time but staff were keeping on top of it with no issue.

We had 2 evening meals here this week during our holiday, great recommendation from our accommodation owner. The food was excellent, great quality, and not overpriced. Good portion sizes. Friendly and efficient service on both visits, and nice atmosphere, lively but calm, not rowdy. Nice warm and cosy interior, very clean and well kept. There is quite a steep set of stairs to get in, to be aware of if you have mobility needs. Strong recommend!

I was looking for a nice restaurant to take some close family who were visiting from overseas and chose this from looking at the menu and reviews. It was a really good meal enjoyed by all in a well run restaurant . The restaurant is informal but smart with good service. The menu has a good variety of choices all cooked and served with care. They claim to have the best fish and chips in the area - and indeed the fried fish was as good as by I’ve had anywhere. The chips a bit ordinary but still enjoyed and the portion size generous. The dishes we had were pan fried cod and pork belly both cooked to a high standard. The deserts were all served with some flare and imagination. All in in all it was a really good eating out experience which il be happy to repeat when next in the area. Update July 25 - Visited again on my next visit to the area. Good service, food is restaurant quality (rather than pub). Prices are reasonable for what you get. Very enjoyably meal with my family.

Me and partner went away for a couple of nights in North wales. We saw some reviews so decided to give it ago on our first night, the customer service was excellent with very friendly and welcoming staff, the restaurant itself was beautiful with a gorgeous view and the food was absolutely incredible. We ended up going the following evening aswel as we both loved it so much. Will definitely be going back when we are in the area. Great place to eat and highly recommend.

Very disappointed tbh I've been looking forward to trying this place for a while. I put the order in on the website. There's no way of changing the order time and no way to order a gluten free kids burger, so I put a note on the order, then I also phoned up to ensure the messages about picking the order up half an hour later that automatically put, and that the kids burger needed to be gluten free. Oh yes. We got the message. That's absolutely fine, said the polite lady on the phone. I arrived a few minutes early at 5.41 said I was picking up the order, and he said Oh. You're a bit late. And pulled the order out of a just eat insulated bag. I said "The order was supposed to be for 5.45, I phoned up to make sure". He did say it would probably be ok and offer to redo it all, but the reason for getting take away at that specific time was because I had to go out, so redoing it all wouldn't have been possible. I then mentioned about my son's gluten free burger. He hadn't seen the message about that either (said something about doing several orders at once) so my son couldn't have his burger as he'd ran out of Gluten free buns at 5.15pm.. Again, I was given the option of a refund for my son's burger or to wait which wasn't an option. If the burgers had been amazing, it wouldn't have been so bad, but for almost £43 they really weren't great at all. Shame because I'm desperate to find a nice local place to support that does gluten free food. We used to get take outs at least once a week.

Simply the best burger takeaway in town! Bit on the pricey side? Absolutely not! Worth every penny! Pork belly bonbons are simply outstanding! And the chips are Stunning! Obviously homemade and delicious. As for the burgers...... I have never tasted a burger so good in my life! 4 of us ordered and we all ordered different. My husband had the "All You Can Meat" and as a seasoned burger lover he was absolutely impressed, he described it as simply amazing! One daughter had "You Got Beef" and her description, in her words was a "flavour explosion". My other daughter had the plain cheeseburger meal but added maple cured bacon and mac & cheese (photo below) and in her words it was "an unexpected, stomach satisfying, completely delicious surprise!" In simple words... You would be missing out if you did not experience the wonder of this restaurants food! AAAAA*****

Great bottomless brunch - food was delicious and arrived fast (we sat down at 1pm & our food was with us by 1.25pm), the waiting on staff were great and frequently asked if we wanted more drinks and the atmosphere was great! I’d highly recommend, I’ll definitely be returning!

A group of friends stopped here on the way home from Ireland. Just off the A55 at Rhos on sea so quite handy. They got us a table for 7 at short notice and the service was excellent. They are really friendly as well. We all ordered burgers and we all enjoyed what we had ordered. Everything was tasty and hot. The food was served in baskets but we were more than happy with this. We had 4 Americans with us and they really enjoyed the burgers as well. We will definitely return next time we are in the area. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

I've had food from hear a few times now and it never disappoints to be fair. Unfortunately this time they did forget to put the pot of peppercorn sauce in, but if I'm honest I could have popped back as I don't live that far, but the burger was just so tasty not to eat there and then. If I could give 6 out of 5 stars I would.

Just sent son down to colwyn bay subway and they have absolutely nearly nothing to what they are meant to have in the restaurant considering it has just reopened it is a joke tbh! .. either make sure you are fully stocked with what is meant to be in the shop or don't open at all

Staff are more concerned about chatting in the kitchen than actually coming out to the front and serving people. Waited for at least 5 minutes and even tried shouting into the kitchen for attention. Suprised this branch hasn't shut down with this kind of attitude

The hygiene and care for their work is absolutely abysmal I can't believe they managed to re open in the state it's in, I would not recommend eating here if you like subway because it's a far cry from what it should be like.

Asked for a 6inch tuna and got told NO they didn't have any and he was not going to make any for 1hour because he had some salad prep to do (counter full of salad). Good customer service think a little more training wouldn't hurt.
