Gliwice in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Gliwice, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Gliwice combines a compact historic center with reminders of its mixed Polish and German past, from the Old Town and Piast Castle to prewar townhouses. The city is known for the Gliwice Radio Tower, often cited as the tallest wooden structure in Europe and linked to a pivotal 1939 incident. Green spaces like Chopin Park and the Palm House offer relaxed promenades and plant displays, while the presence of the Silesian University of Technology gives the city a lively, student-oriented atmosphere. It’s also a practical base for exploring the broader industrial-heritage region of Upper Silesia.
With favorites like Gliwice Radio Station, Bo Grill&Restaurant, and Gospoda Casa Austria, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Radiola Lunch & Pizza and Gospoda Casa Austria so you can get the best taste of Gliwice while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Nature & Parks
Gardens
Palmiarnia Miejska w Gliwicach is a botanical garden that features displays of flora and fauna from the 19th century, as well as tropical palm houses and art exhibits. The garden is compact and well-designed, providing visitors with a joyous experience of walking, watching, and breathing in nature. Despite the limitations due to Covid-19, it remains a beautiful place worth visiting for approximately an hour.
Very friendly fish, but they were a little bit surprised by our presence. Plants 🪴 were nice too but a little less friendly than fish 🐟
Dominik W — Google review
Okay, so we just expected "some palms in a glasshouse" and in fact, that is what it was... But, the flora here is really impressive, the place is wonderfully taken care of, the added fauna adds wonderfully to the entire experience (especially the aquarium section at the end) and all this at a very fair price. Some more info boards would've made this a bit more educationally valuable, but already as it is, it's a lovely nature-exploring experience.
Markus V — Google review
Not very large, however a pleasant place with (not only) old palms, tropical flora and a few aquariums (piranhas included). Very reasonable price (20 zl adult).
Lenka M — Google review
Amazing place. Really worth to visit
Nikola R — Google review
This is a truly incredible destination! The atmosphere is vibrant and unique, offering more than just a beautiful botanical display—it's a living ecosystem where you can discover both plants and animals. It's a fantastic and engaging place for families. Kids will love the "explorer" program: pick up a passport at the entrance, collect stamps during your visit, and get promoted to an official explorer!
Iskandar — Google review
Awesome place to visit during winter. Temperature of this place has been well maintained to help plants and animals live in harsh cold of Poland. I would recommend this place to plants and aquarium lovers. There are smallest to largest fishes. I would love to visit again as there are plants which grows in only certain temperature and climate. Well maintained but should have been well exhibited as the details or name of the species is in polish and would be difficult for a foreigner to understand.
Dheeraj K — Google review
Awesome place to have time with kids, lots of check points for kids map, exotic insects, reptiles and parrots. Also they've got a hall with aquariums! Cafe with ice cream and cakes. Lovely photozones, we saw wedding fotosets there.
Lidia S — Google review
One of my favourite place Not too big, compact, well designed Not only plants itself but also point of view Joy of walking, watching, breathing (unfortunately during the Covid-19, not 100%)

Gliwice Radio Station

Museum
The Museum in Gliwice, also known as the Gliwice Radio Station, is a significant historical landmark with a compelling story. It gained fame due to a 1939 raid by the German army and holds great importance as a symbol of the city. The museum offers an intriguing experience for history enthusiasts and those interested in World War II, featuring old radio equipment and a short film about its provocative history.
It's worth the visit if you are in the area. A small exhibition with a short film for free. The surrounding park is well maintained.
Lenka M — Google review
The Gliwice Radio Tower is a former radio transmission tower located in the northern part of Gliwice. Made of larch wood, the tower has a height of 118 meters, making it the tallest wooden tower in the world. After construction, the transmission tower went into operation in 1935. The transmission tower acquired historical significance when the German SS staged an attack on the transmission tower by Polish soldiers in 1939 and, a little later, used this as a propaganda justification for the attack on Poland and thus the beginning of the Second World War. Today, there is a park around the transmission tower and a museum for broadcast history and media art in a building next to the tower. A relatively unknown but nevertheless important place of remembrance that maintains the reminder of the Second World War in the present.
Florian M — Google review
The tower itself is an interesting point to visit. With over 100 meter long vertical antenna and wood structure with brass bolts, it is a marvelous piece of engineering. Next to the tower are 3 museum buildings. I was there during the museum night festival and the show there was good.
J K — Google review
An interesting historical spot, worth visiting.

Interesting place to visit, especially for those who studying history and World War II. Also for people working with radio electronic equipment it wil be interesting to observe old apparatus. The radio station is still working. We were proposed to watch short movie about the provocation and history of the place. It is available on Poland language with English or German subtitles. On Saturday the museum is free for visitors. There is small playground for children near museum.
Мария Б — Google review
For anyone at least remotely interested in the history of the 20th century, a visit to Gliwice would be incomplete without visiting the site of former Radio Gliwice. This is the place where WW II started in 1939. The monumental radio tower and the buildings of Radio Gliwice are a short walk away from the city centre. The site is freely accessible and there's also a museum of the historical events around Radio Gliwice.
Miroslav K — Google review
The Radio Tower is stunning! The park is also lovely and very well kept. Great spot for a walk. There are toilets and car park and loads of benches to sit on. Children can play on the grass. It lacks the playground for children.... it would be perfect if it was there. There is a sensory playground, but most of the equipment is broken and my child didn't found it attractive... Didn't go inside the museum so cannot comment on that.

City park
The Culture and Recreation Park, situated near the Old Town, offers the opportunity to engage in hiking and cycling amidst a hilly forest. Spanning 200 hectares, this significant woodland has been preserved since the Middle Ages despite urban development. The park is home to diverse wildlife such as hares, deer, and boars. One notable feature of the park is a tower that uses salt evaporation to create mineral-rich droplets.
I just love it. It's big, great for walking, running, cycling. There is road for skating, but full of leaves and branches...

Arena
The Gliwice Arena is a remarkable venue that showcases an array of events, including concerts and exhibitions. It presents an interpretation of the city, aspiring for a green, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment that fosters a pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly atmosphere. The Arena also promotes art and aims to eliminate unsightly concrete information boards at the Market Square to enhance its overall visual composition. Moreover, it recently hosted a Christian concert featuring gospel musicians from Hillsong United.
A location far beyond expectations. It is impressive both inside and outside. I love that it can host such large events. The only remark would be that the restaurants available inside the arena do not have a very varied food offer. Anyway, a great experience!

One of the best places I've been this year. If you want to spend a few hours and learn about light while having a lot of fun this place is for you.
B S — Google review
We visited Funzeum in Gliwice on a whim and were pleasantly surprised! While the entrance fee is on the higher side, it’s well worth it because there’s so much to see and do. We went in the late afternoon and only had about three hours—next time, we’d definitely plan for more time to explore everything. The exhibition is beautifully designed, perfect for selfies, but also very interactive with plenty of things to touch and try out. The play area is fantastic, and the workshops included in the ticket price were a highlight for us. We made slime and painted T-shirts, which was a lot of fun! Special thanks to the staff, who took the time to explain everything in English just for us—truly above and beyond. Funzeum is perfect for kids and families, and we’d definitely recommend it for a great day out!
Momo K — Google review
5 stars just isn’t enough! This place is amazing. Not only did the kids have fun, but I did too! It has a lot of ‘Instagram-ready’ places, but also fun labs and play areas for kids.
William G — Google review
I visited the Funzeum on Friday 08/08/25 and I must say that it was a very special and unforgettable experience! The museum consists of several rooms and ranges from colours to light effects with state-of-the-art and interactive exhibits (here you can discover what colours smell like!). All this is topped off by the childlike atmosphere here: even if you are an adult (like me, a 27-year-old boy), you can feel like a child without limitations or distinctions. But what really struck me were the workshops they offer: here too there is no age distinction, even an adult can try their hand and have fun like a child. Several workshops are offered: artistic where you can customise a garment that you can buy on site (T-shirt, hat, handbag) at a more than reasonable price; a science workshop where you can see live and replicate some simple chemical reactions; a workshop where you can create your own slime (we took it home!). We did the day ticket and enjoyed this beautiful place from morning to afternoon (time flies when you're having fun). The only downside is that the museum is designed for Polish speakers and therefore the descriptions in the various rooms are difficult to understand for those who don't speak this language, but the problem is easily circumvented thanks to new apps that allow you to instantly translate a photo. The workshops are also presented by people who speak Polish but I really have to thank them and compliment them for the effort they put into speaking English with us (practically the only ones on that day who did not speak Polish so a very niche audience). My wife and I felt really pampered and helped at all times during the workshops. In conclusion, a modern and clean facility, young and really well-prepared staff. It is really worth visiting this beautiful museum!
Simone P — Google review
Such a beautiful and interesting place for every age. Everyone will find something interesting for it self. A lot of foto shooting zones, playing areas for kids 2+ and a cafe. The minus is that there is no snacks or food for small kids, so better think of it ahead. Hot dogs, ice-cream, soda and an AWFUL coffee 😝
H H — Google review
Amazing place ! Worth visiting! Only thing I do not agree is to payment for extra time while you are attending workshop for which you pay separately anyway apart of that had amazing time !
Magdalena P — Google review
An absolutely great place to visit and such a sensory experience great for adults and children alike. Plenty to do, see, feel and hear. Little cafe for drinks and a shop at end . Toilets available inside. Definitly you can easily waste half a day in here and at a reasonable price.

Restaurant
Radiola Lunch & Pizza is a delightful establishment that offers a pleasurable dining experience. The menu boasts an impressive selection of delectable dishes, including both cooked meals and pizzas, all of which are exceptionally tasty. However, the beverage options may be somewhat limited. It is worth mentioning that they do not provide receipts for expenses, for reasons unknown. The affordability of the food in relation to its quality is commendable.
Delicious food, great service and prices.

I ate pork roulades with dumplings. It was tasty but the sauce was way too salty. The servers were not very happy to see customers but that's the Polish character so don't expect too much friendliness from them. It's a nice place overall especially if you eat outside. You can see the Gliwice famous from its part in WW2, radio station Tower. It's very impressive.

Bo Grill&Restaurant in Lovingston, Virginia offers a diverse menu with options ranging from seafood to sandwiches to steaks. The food is highly praised for its great taste and variety, especially the grilled and cold meats. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance with fresh flowers, making guests feel at home. While the service is excellent, some visitors have experienced long waiting times. Bo Grill&Restaurant also boasts a good selection of Czech beers and wines, adding to the overall dining experience.

First things first. The food is great. The menu is well varied, with offers ranging from fish to chicken to mutton to beef. The side dish selection is fantastic. We were a large group so we were able to taste almost everything in there. The only negative point is that it was a bit chilly since we were sitting at the back of the restaurant. Service was also great. Recommended.
