Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park is known for its dramatic limestone peaks, deep gorges such as the Garganta Verde, and extensive cave systems. It’s one of the rainiest spots in Spain, creating lush forests of Spanish fir (pinsapo) that are rare in the Mediterranean. Well-marked trails make it popular for hiking and birdwatching, especially for spotting griffon vultures and other raptors. Traditional white villages like Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra add cultural interest with their historic architecture and local cuisine.
With favorites like Restaurante Loren, Zahara de la Sierra Castle, and Mesón-Bar La Peña D'Ely, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like La Era and Bar Restaurante Las Cuatro Maderas so you can get the best taste of Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Bodies of Water
The Municipal Recreation Area Playita is a charming natural pool nestled in a mountain, with a conveniently hidden road that can easily be missed. It's a popular destination, especially in late June when the parking lots are fully occupied. The water is crystal clear and refreshingly cold, surrounded by lush greenery and under a beautiful blue sky. It's an ideal spot for locals and families to escape to, offering laughter, playfulness, and the delightful melodies of singing birds.
Fab :) we visited on a week day, it wasn't too busy, I'm sure it would be busy on the weekend. There was parking available, and the guy in the carpark was very helpful. It cost €3.50 entrance, well worth it, its very well maintained, the water is lovely and clean, and there's plenty of spots to sit in the shade with a picnic. Felt very chilled, and safe for children. Lovely day out :)
Sally — Google review
I'm hooked, straight away got to my list of favourite places. Might be small and man-made but damn it's beautiful, with super clean, cold (yes!) water. Perfect for the 40 degree heat. Crowded, but bearable, during the summer weekend, an absolute bliss during the week. Bonus - restaurant serving really good menu del día with several choices at an excellent price. I'll keep on coming back, for sure. Bonus - free motorhome parking (not overnight though!).
Dawid D — Google review
Really nice please but very busy on the weekends. Coffee and restaurant very good food. We would love to do the Zip line but is not open yet !!! We hope they open soon should be a nice expirience
Paco R — Google review
Lots of shade and breezy when the area around is sweltering hot. Well equipped with a family area, cafe and bar and a restaurant. There’s picnic tables too, which you can reserve at the weekends, and play areas for kids if you have them. This is a cool spring water artificial lake that’s accessible and welcoming. Gorgeous setting.
Vera C — Google review
It's the best place for s swim in fresh water. They even have a bar and they way their staff is trained is amazing. Everyone is so charming and nice and I loved the way they made us feel at home. David and his team are amazing and the security guard Jose is also the most gente and kind man I have met in a very long time. I can't wait to come back and see them all again.
Stephy R — Google review
Very nice place with super clean and super cool water. It is really great in hot days. It is not natural place, as we tought, but still great.
Pavel R — Google review
Nice place for a day trip but parking is a dirt car park. The showers also dont work and the toilets dont have any toilet paper.
Paolina — Google review
A pleasant small nature pool has hidden inside the mountain. A side way out of mountain road where is easily skipped. It’s late June and the parking lots are fully occupied! That surprised me for the first time, but soon I understand the reason. Crystal clear cold water with green surroundings and blue sky, how lovely! A little escape for locals, families favorite spot. People laughing, children playing, birds singing... We enjoyed our picnic and swimming in few hours over here.

Zahara de la Sierra Castle, a key Moorish outpost strategically located in the Nasrid border, was part of a network of watchtowers and strongholds. The village of Isleta del Moro, with its population of about 200 people, is charming and worth visiting. The castle offers stunning views and requires good walking shoes due to steep slopes. It features an archaeological information center with glass floors and outstanding views.
This was the perfect setting for my daughter's engagement, at sunset at the top! The caretaker of the castle even let us stay beyond closing hours to let them continue celebrating. So special and kind. It was absolutely beautiful.
Christine S — Google review
Beautiful view from the top. Steep and slippery hike up on cobblestone so wear sneakers, but worth it. Stop in the visitor center to see the underground ruins.
Caysie D — Google review
Amazing views from the top. Compact castle with not an massive amount of things to see inside. But lete face it, most people don’t climb up for the artifacts.
T H — Google review
Quite the hike alllllll the way to the top but it had great views! And clean toilets. Rocky path is steep in areas and can be slick (yes, even when dry). Be careful!
Kate R — Google review
This is a “must” if you’re somewhere nearby Ronda, only 2h away from Malaga. We spent half a day there, exploring the charming town of Zahara and did the hike to the castle on top (3€ fee).
Katarzyna W — Google review
Well worth the visit, though it is a climb to the top, which is hard work in the heat of the day. There is not much shade on the way up. Some of the pathways and stairs are slippy underfoot, so wear grippy footwear. Excellent views.
Lucy S — Google review
What an amazing little village, and the walk up to the castle, and the castle itself offer fantastic sceneries. If you are in the area it's definitely worth also visiting this town!
Yannick B — Google review
Fabulous hilltop medieval town with ruin of castle on top. Park at the bottom and do a slow climb up, you will see pretty vistas and courtyards and street. Lovely church with beautiful baroque alter piece. Castle is well worth a visit, with a very helpful guy on the entrance

We did this hiking walk from El Bosque Town to Benamahoma. The entrance was not well signposted on the El Bosque town side if you are a tourist in the area, but we asked 2 local ladies who gave us ample instructions. This is a walk that you must not miss if you are in the area. The nearer you got to Benamahoma, the more beautiful the river became. The walk is fairly simple, although some areas might be more tricky if you have mobility issues. It was supposed to take about 2 hours at a comfortable pace, but we stopped several times to admire the areas and the beautiful birds. On reaching Benamahoma, there are public toilets very clean and well kept. Restrictions in the area are no swimming in the river or putting up picnic chairs, etc.
Annabelle C — Google review
Beautiful track, really worth it! You can walk in a circle, when you reach the botanical garden be careful not to walk down, there is a sign that you have to go down, but that’s directing you to a local bar. The gardens are closing @1500.
Sietse M — Google review
We loved this short route. We did it by road bikes (bad idea, we had to carry them most of the way) but it's a medium difficult path on foot. And the possibility of cooling yourself in the brook is exceptional! Just please take your garbage with you!
Viktor K — Google review
Excellent hike for most. Along the small river and lots of shade. Got busy mid day but not much people around 9
Andreas F — Google review
Awesome trail along the stream (officially a river) from Benamahoma to El Bosque, about 10 km round trip. The trail is shaded along much of it's route which helps keep it cool even on a hot day (is was 30+ degrees when we walked it but with the shade it was fine). There are some rocky sections and stone stairs so you need to be in reasonable shape but in general an easy trail.
Dave C — Google review
Nice and easy walk, very refreshing with a lot of shade. We were told that it can be very busy during the Weekends, so we went on Thursday and we didn't see many people there.
Laimonas G — Google review
Nice easy walk. Lot's of shade cover. Avoid at the weekends as it can get very busy.

Brilliant walk, about 1hr 30 mins each way. Loads of waterfalls and a really enjoyable few hours in nature. With a nice drink half way.

Really beautiful
Juan G — Google review
Fabulous Botanical Garden ! Plants clearly labelled and lots of information. Lots of orchids and springtime plants in flower. Such a well kept space ! I did read a review saying it was all dried out in summer 😂 it's the South of Spain, the flora here does it's thing in spring and early summer. It is free to enter.
Frangolalala — Google review
Cute little botanical gardens, great walk through with many wonderful plants, all superbly signed.
Dave S — Google review
I'm English but I lived in Ubrique for 2 years several years ago. I also attended some of the workshops in the gardens. I love this botanical garden and can spend hours here re learning the names of the plants in Spanish and re connecting with la Sierra de Grazalema every time I come back to visit the area.
Claire S — Google review
Boring and not well-kept so-called botanical garden. Most of the plants were dried out, and the best thing was that there is no entry fee. Do not consider driving far to visit.
Martin K — Google review
Lovely well-labelled gardens and free of charge. Just really tricky to get to and google maps isn't quite right on its directions. Otherwise a great hour and a half!!!

What a fantastic place to get artisanal sheep and goat cheeses, in a variety of flavors, ages, and treatments! Might be considered a little 'off the beaten path' for some, but their products are incredibly flavorful and worth it. As others have mentioned, they offer vacuum packaging for your travels... and it is just as awesome days and weeks later!
A.L. P — Google review
Great cheeses, as in many places in Spain. Probably a bit difficult to drop by them, as their shop is in the industrial area where they manufacture the cheese. Nevertheless, they have many options all vacuum wrapped, many of their cheeses won international prizes and the taste... Ohhh the taste! 🤤

Bar & grill
Bar Restaurante La Era is a bar and grill that offers a variety of dishes at reasonable prices. Their fresh octopus salad, known as ensaladilla de pulpo, was satisfactory, while their tosta solomillo was superb. The carillada was also decent. The affordability of the menu aligns well with the quality of the food. The generous portion sizes and swift, friendly service were highly appreciated by customers who visited for lunch during the school holidays in April.
We had a wonderful dining experience at La Era. We ordered the risotto, Spanish tortilla, and a selection of mixed croquettes. All the dishes were absolutely delicious — flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, which made us feel very welcome. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. Highly recommended!

Lots of locals here. Excellent, friendly service. Reasonable priced. Opening/closing times vary day-to-day. Suitable for drinks or casual dining. Favourite in ZdlS.

They are very nice and knowledgeable about celiac. The owner is a young man and speaks English very well. Our server, Stephanie was a younger female who also knew a lot about celiac and spoke English pretty well. The fries are GF, also you can have any salads, fish and meats. Additionally, they gave me a packet of GF crackers when they served my family bread. My husband and daughter are not GF. She had the chicken nuggets and he had the Gamba- they both said their meal was amazing!
Jo W — Google review
Travelling alone. Reserve a table! La Era has excellent service, food and athmosphere. One of the waiters speaks very good english and what the others might lack in language skills, they make up for with their excellent service attitude. I got a table without reservation, but all tables seemed reserved. So book a table or prepare to be disappointed.

Bar Restaurante Las Cuatro Maderas is a delightful spot that truly stands out in the heart of town. Upon entering, you're welcomed with warmth and friendliness, setting the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The menu offers a variety of delicious dishes at great prices, ensuring there's something for everyone. Diners rave about the homemade options like cheek, meatballs in tomato sauce, and croquettes—each dish crafted with care.
(Translated by Google) Good treatment and service in the center of town. Close and friendly staff. Varied menu and very cold beers to choose from. Good bread and very good "sucking" olives (by the way, I ate them all before taking the photo). Near the municipal swimming pool and there is usually parking nearby. It's worth coming to try. It is very economical and you can pay by card. (Original) Buen trato y servicio en pleno centro del pueblo. Personal cercano y amable. Carta variada y cervezas a elegir muy frías. (Translated by Google) They serve quickly, friendly waiter, good price, but for my taste... most of the garnish is typical fries, the pijotas... too fried, stiff. The chicken cheese sauce is very delicious. The scrambled eggs...some chorizo tasted rancid and the black pepper was very fried. The bathrooms are spacious but not adapted for people in wheelchairs, old but clean. Inside there is no access step but it is very narrow. There is no background music.

Exquisite. The best meal of our six days in Andalusia. Every single item was delicious and the server (the owner?) was so friendly and helpful - he went the extra mile in terms of helping us through our limited understanding of the menu. Recommend 100%

This restaurant was buzzing when we went for lunch on Saturday. We got there early as they don't take reservations and we were lucky to get a table. People were waiting patiently on the pavement for a table. The food is amazing. We had artichoke and spinach salad with walnuts and black aioli, steamed cockles and a beautifully cooked, fall off the bone leg of lamb with garlic and chips sprinkled with sea salt. The waiting staff, although rused off their feet, were great. We'll be back.

Mesón Los Estribos is a modest and pleasant restaurant with a veranda that offers stunning views of the lake, suspended above the village. The staff is accommodating, as they were able to adjust dishes for dietary preferences. The menu includes options like fried potatoes, meatballs, beans, tripes, gazpacho soup, chicken and chips, fried fish and Tocin de Cielo for dessert. The food is simple but flavorful and reasonably priced.
Went for some lunch we had gazpacho soup. It was cold so I sent it back..... Lol! No just kidding! it was really good. I had chicken and chips, fried fish. Very tasty. Could have had pudding but we were stuffed. All for 9euro each. Good value. Nice waitress quick service and a view to die for looking over the aqua blue reservoir. Just do it! Layton and Jill. 😉

The view is amazing, but the food is just ordinary. There are better places where to eat. A beer here would be nice just to enjoy the view
Alessandro M — Google review
Great lunch with an amazing view. It offers a 10 Euros menu for lunch. Worth every penny of it. Instead of the french fries you typically find on menus for 10 Euros, they serve fried potatoes. A good change of pace. Otherwise all the typical items like meatballs, beans and tripes...are available and done well. Friendly service. This restaurant is at the top of the village. It is well worth the extra climb. Would recommend parking your car at the entrance of the village unless you like to navigate on steep and narrow streets.
Franklin Y — Google review
The food was good (especially the chocolate mousse!), but not spectacular. I had a salad which I could not add oil and vinegar to, because the bottles for these were so dirty and slippery that they could not be removed from their holder. The soap dispenser was broken. Service was quite awkward. View is good, but it was a bit cold inside.

The flavor was amazing. The codillo has the best seasoning I had in Spain. The wine was top notch. And the price was good! Also the view. The entire family agreed it was our best meal in Spain.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Ocuri Archaeological Site, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Sendero Puerto de las Presillas. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

The archaeological site of Ocuri in Ubrique offers guided tours by knowledgeable and passionate guides who provide excellent explanations. The site, which was unfortunately pillaged in the 18th century, still has surviving foundations, walls, cisterns and a surprisingly intact mausoleum or Columbarium. Visitors are urged to watch the video interpretation for better understanding. Highlights of the Roman settlement include the cyclopean wall, thermal baths and mausoleum.
I visited Ocuri (just outside Ubrique, in the Sierra de Grazalema) a couple of days ago and loved the location and the guide Isabel! She knows a lot and is very enthusiastic. We did a tour in Spanish, so I can’t say how an English would be. Only 10% of the old Roman city has been discovered until so far. Which means that there is still so much more to discover! I am already looking forward to return in a couple of years🥰. So I definitely recommend a visit to this archeological site when you visit the Sierra de Grazalema in Andalucia! By the way, if you are interested in Roman sites, you should also visit Baelo Claudia (Costa de la Luz) and Acinipo (near Ronda)…

We had visited the Ocuri site last year while it was closed. However, we made it a priority on our visit to Spain this time. Booking online is easy and very prompt, we received confirmation within 12 hours. The visit and escorted tour is exceptional Isabel our guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative.

Went here in May with the family. We have 3 kids, one of whom is a baby. This is a very family-friendly walking tour, very informative, entertaining, and the guide is very considerate.

I went to enquire about bookings for the 23/ 24th October but unfortunately it was fully booked for a group of students. The two ladies at the reception were lovely, friendly, spoke english, and were very accommodating. She took my details in case there were any cancellations. Apparently, October/ November are their busy months. Such a shame, not to get tickets for the day but given the popularity, Always book in advance.

Amazing iberan and roman ruins that tell the ancient history of the region. The experience is great: you can join a 2 hour long guided tour every morning to climb up the area where the old city of Ocuri lays. After a short walk up the mountain, where the necropolis and the old roman pathway are found, you get to an ancient stone wall first built by the iberan people and expanded by the roman people. Then you get into the rest of the city proper: the baths, the forum and several houses and water wells have been discovered already, but there is an amazing amount of ruins that still lay waiting for their time to see the light again. All in all, visiting this place brings the oportunity to picture a small bit of the old ages. Acompanied by our kind guide Isabel, the tales both of the ancient times and of how these ruins were discovered are enlightnening and fun.

A small Roman-period hill town in a spectacular setting... visit with a guide by reservation only ... the staff member who took us around was knowledgeable and spoke English well. Interesting remains of the necropolis, city wall, forum, bath buildings - well worth a visit!
Roger U — Google review
This was a wonderful experience. It is named for the Roman city, but its origins date all the way back to 6th century BC. Our archaeologist guide was happy and energetic; it was easy to see that she loves to share the history. It is an exciting time to visit, as investigations and discoveries are still ongoing.
Jai J — Google review
Our guide, Inma, spoke excellent English and had a good knowledge of Roman history in the area. The visit was worth it just for her input. Sadly the site was pillaged by its original owner back in the 18th century. However the foundations, some walls and cisterns survive. The mausoleum or Columbarium is, unusually, still intact. Make sure you catch the video interpretation, it puts everything into perspective.

Maribel will show you the facilities and tell you with the deepest passion possible about all the beautiful history of Ubrique and its relationship with leather. Maribel has devoted her life to safeguard and show thousands of pieces of the town's history for the last 25 years, with little support from politicians or institutions. A work she can be really proud of.

Very nice visit! You need the guide to tell all the interesting stories. He speak only Spanish. The tour covers the history, how to color the leather and to work it. Many examples of craftsmanship and a small demonstration.

There are some fine examples of leather work, well worth seeing, but not a word of explanation in Spanish or English, possibly due to the leather manufacturer's quest for secrecy of their processes.

The staff was very friendly, helpful, and spoke English well. The exhibits were interesting and had enough detail to make me feel educated about the history of the Sierra de Cádiz. An excellent pairing with a tour of Ocuri, and an absolute MUST for any tourists in the area. English guidebooks were available, and I spent a fasconating hour enjoying the museum.

On the outside it looks like a modern building, but inside you'll see the old brick arches of a church. The exhibit on the old Roman town of Ocuri is a little small. I wanted more. However, upstairs is an extensive display on the history of the town. All the information diplays were in Spanish but we were given a booklet with all the English translations. The museum is well worth the 3 euros entry.

Sendero Puerto de las Presillas is a pleasant and straightforward path that offers stunning natural surroundings. The entire trail can be completed in around 3-4 hours, depending on your speed. It provides beautiful vistas and is slightly demanding without being too overpowering. This location is ideal for both short day hikes or longer expeditions, making it an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the area's hiking options.
Lovely hike with great views surrounded by the highest peaks of the Grazalema natural park. Starting from this end, close to Boyar view point, is the easier way. It’s about a 30 min moderate climb at the beginning and then mostly flat or easy downhill. You can make it a loop taking the Camino de los Charcones back up, which is an easy walk along the main road. There is a small parking area and easy access.

The employees were exceptionally friendly, and the cuisine was delightful. This establishment is a hidden gem with limited new patrons, predominantly frequented by regulars. The waitstaff exclusively converses in Spanish; therefore, it is advisable for visitors to possess sufficient linguistic proficiency for effective communication. The appetizers are extraordinary, particularly the Pirueleta de Gambas Calabacin which merits recognition equivalent to a monument in the local park.
The staff was very nice, and the food was delicious. It's a hole in the wall, and doesn't appear to have many new customers, mostly regulars. The staff speaks only Spanish, so visitors should know enough to communicate.

Restaurante Loren in Ubriquet is a delightful family-owned eatery that offers a truly exceptional dining experience. The journey alone to this establishment is well justified, as the restaurant's unique charm and inviting atmosphere are worth the trip. The menu boasts an array of delectable options, with their succulent roast leg of lamb being a particular standout. Whether you're a meat lover or vegetarian, Restaurante Loren has something for everyone.

This is a credit to them, because other places offer less and charge you for the entire portion. It's a place I'll return to on my next trip to the Ubrique area. Abrasador El Laurel is a delightful spot for those seeking a satisfying lunch experience, especially after exploring the charming town of Ubrique. The menu offers excellent value, featuring well-prepared and flavorful homemade dishes that are sure to please any palate. The service here stands out; guests have praised the friendly and efficient staff who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
This was the perfect place for our large group to have lunch after exploring Ubrique and shopping at the leather stores. Our waitress was the best! She answered all of our questions, was quick to serve us and helped break down the bill for each of us. The food was delicious!

Definitely a nice place for a quick lunch. We took the menu that is really excellent value for money. It was well cooked, tasty and home made. The service was fast and pleasant (nothing like I saw in other reviews). Don’t go there for a romantic encounter or being in a fancy place. But I think they serve good honest home made food for a reasonable price. And these days, this is no small thing at all…

This place aspire to be a fancy restaurant but it miserably fails! Although the food is looking fancy it tastes simply bad due to wrong the ingredients composition. Maybe a new chef is needed? Moreover the service is extremely slow and the restaurant fails to serve all the main dishes at once - some dishes came out cold and we ended up eating in turns! Do not waist your time in here go and better visit the city and eat elsewhere. Also, no soap in the ladies bathroom, no place to change a baby.

Catholic church
Nestled in the charming town of Grazalema, the Iglesia de San José is a hidden gem that beckons visitors with its historical significance and serene atmosphere. Dating back to the late 16th century, this church reflects the architectural style typical of Carmelite convents dedicated to Saint Joseph. Although it may not always be open to the public, those fortunate enough to visit can admire its striking facade adorned with anagrams of Jesus and Mary, topped by the emblem of the Carmelite order.
(Translated by Google) Church somewhat hidden in the town and with a lack of conservation. Its name is San José del Salvador because this is the usual name that the Carmelites gave to the convents they dedicated to the Holy Patriarch. Its elements allow us to date the Church as a work executed in the last years of the 16th century. Above the semicircular arch that tops the façade are the anagrams of Jesus and Mary and crowning the entire complex is the shield of the Carmelite order. Inside, the valuable images of Saint Anthony of Padua, Saint Francis of Assisi and the Immaculate Conception are preserved and worshiped along with the Image of the Virgin of Carmen, the work of the famous sculptor Navas Parejo. All sizes from the 17th century.

(Translated by Google) This path ascends gently between pine trees until reaching the bifurcation point where we find two different paths. One takes us to the ruins of the Calvary hermitage and the other to the Image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus or the Saint, located in a magnificent natural viewpoint. From the chasm of the saint there are extraordinary views of the Grazalema town. To the north is the Fresnillo dam, which supplies the nearby towns and the port of Las Palomas; to the west the Peñón Grande and San Cristobal peak; To the south is the Endrinal mountain range; and to the east the Guadalete valley, Gastor rock, Malaver and the Mesa de Ronda la Vieja. Upon reaching the Hermitage of Calvario we can continue along a path that continues climbing behind the Hermitage very well marked which will take us very comfortably to the Port of Ratacapa and from there there are several options where to go, you can reach the Cave of the Two Doors or the Clock Chozo or the Green Pond.....etc. (Translated by Google) I think it's nice there. You have a great view of Grazalema, and it's a short hike if you don't have a lot of time, but it still has its charm due to its steepness. When we were there years ago, there was a fig tree with ripe fruits in front of the Ermita. Our 3 year old son didn't want to come down! We had previously asked the tourist information about a short hike and continued hiking, believing that we would soon be back in Grazalema. That didn't work... Ultimately, according to the employee at the tourist information center, we ended up on the ruta de la cueva de las dos puertas, through adventurous "paths" and five to six hours with a three-year-old (who couldn't get enough). We definitely deserved the opulent dinner in town!

(Translated by Google) A short route, ideal to do with children. The only drawback I see is the journey from when you park the car to the beginning of the trail since you have to go along the road with the risk of being run over. It is curious when entering the ruined hermitage how people have left different images of Christs and virgins in a space inside that apparently was an altar in its day.

Geologic Formations
El Torreón is the highest summit in the province of Cadiz, measuring 1,654 meters in elevation. The panoramic vistas from its peak are breathtaking, offering a clear sight of Africa, the Strait, Gibraltar, and numerous towns across Cadiz province. However, conquering this ascent demands strong physical stamina as it takes over two hours to reach the top. This mountain trail is highly recommended for its remarkable scenery and should not be missed when visiting the area.
The trail is closed from June to mid-September. In other months, you must reserve a place in advance. It's free and the easiest way to do it is online, but places are very limited, especially on weekends. I haven't met anyone who checks them, but I've heard it happens (I don't know what happens if it isn't). The route itself is 3 km long and goes up all the time. It's not difficult, but it is tiring. The walk takes 2-3 hours, depending on your fitness level. You can go down in an hour. At the top, but also along the way, you can admire beautiful views.

Hiking area
Sendero La Garganta Verde is a breathtaking 2.5 km hike through a narrow canyon with towering rock walls in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. The trail offers stunning views of the gorge and surrounding landscape, making it well worth the challenging trek. As you descend into the lush green gorge, you may spot various bird species flying near their nesting grounds. However, be prepared for some difficulty as the trail becomes rocky and steep closer to the gorge.
A beautiful hiking trail. But it definitely is a hefty one. After about 1.5 km of relatively easy hiking up the hill the decent into the canyon begins. It is really steep, slippery on some rocks and, of course, the way back is even more exhausting. The view and the canyon below is absolutely worth it, tho.

Managed it today, in-between 3 days of heavy rain. But it was really good. A real work-out, so be fit. You need to be able to climb around boulders down the bottom of the gorge. The track down the last third of the 2km, is basically a stony dirt and stone steps, sometimes hand hewn from the rock. About 3 hrs return, for us fit 61yr olds.

Historical landmark
Villa Medieval de Zahara de la Sierra offers a great value for its stunning views, natural surroundings, and historical sites. Visitors can explore the historical complex surrounded by trees and walking paths to discover ruins and viewpoints. The entrance fee includes access to an interpretation center and a recreation area in the keep with breathtaking views. Additionally, the site provides facilities such as bathrooms and a water vending machine.
Unlike other reviewers, had no issues with buying tickets and entering. Stunning landscape views from the top. Really interesting historical castle and keep.
Ripunjay A — Google review
imho too expensive for what it has to offer, 3.5 per person, including children, for the same view you see from the mirador below.. no toilets. the castle is two rooms with couple of swords, need, and plastic cheese - a reproduction of how the guards lived
Michael H — Google review
Automatic ticket machine is broken, and the ticket office is closed for 4 hours from 14:00 to 18:00. Further accessible elevator to the ticket office is also out of service. Recommend calling ahead or planning your visit accordingly.

It was just a stop for us between Ronda and Seville. What a beautiful place to be! It very scenic to walk up all the way, to see the great view of the “white village “, the lake and mountains surrounding it. Definitely worth the little climb.

(Translated by Google) A visit to Zahara is not complete without visiting the 'villa' or the tower. This is the highlight of Zahara not only from the meters above sea level; The 3.50 euros are absolutely well invested. You have a breathtaking view over Zahara and the surrounding area and a small exhibition provides insight into the history. (Translated by Google) An essential visit to learn about the history of Zahara de la Sierra. Price €3.50 which is well worth it, the place has impressive views of the mountains, the reservoir and the town. (Original) Indispensable visita para conocer la historia de Zahara de la Sierra. (Translated by Google) Single price entry. You have to climb stairs and slopes. The views are very beautiful. Interesting interpretation center. My bad rating is because it is not cared for at all, too many weeds, large trees/bushes that cut off part of the route. Honestly, it is not worth paying to not enjoy 100% of a place that can be spectacular. Ticket machine out of service so if you don't go during tourist office hours, even if the villa's hours are longer, you can't enter.

(Translated by Google) The village encompasses the historic complex surrounded by trees and a path for walking and visiting the various ruins and viewpoints. Admission costs €3.50, and you're given a QR code to scan at the entrance to the village. When the automatic ticket machine is working, you can enter before the information desk opens, but it wasn't working this weekend. There are restrooms and a water vending machine.

Tapas restaurant
La Maroma Grazalema is a highly recommended restaurant in Grazalema, known for its excellent service and incredible food. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is passionate about providing a great dining experience. The menu offers a variety of fresh local dishes, including traditional tapas with a modern twist. Diners rave about the Moorish Style steak and the delicious cheese cake made with queso de cabra. The restaurant also boasts a selection of recommended red wines to complement the meal.
I strongly recommend this restaurant! the grilled muchroom was superb, other dishes were very impressive too. This was one of the best meal I have in south spain.

If I live here, I'll know which one is my Grilled wild mushroom - 6 stars. Must try. You won't regret. It's sweet and properly grilled. Amazing. Moorish streak - Very nicely marinated. Well done! However, the meat was too well done as well. Wish they can medium rare it.

This was a fantastic experience. Genuine, local, welcoming and delicious food. Highly recommend a visit.

When traveling I tend to structure my trips around a region's gastronomy so I have eaten in many wonderful restaurants. After having the pleasure of enjoying a dinner at La Maroma, I think I have found my all time favorite. The atmosphere, the server's EXCELLENT service paired with incredible food...I simply have nothing but good things to say. I highly recommend the cheese cake, (best one I've had the pleasure of enjoying) and the Moorish Style steak. We were a party of 5 and called ahead to reserve a table.

Our favourite restaurant in Grazalema. Delicious food at very affordable prices. The staff is very friendly and professional. Try the burger, it's great. Also the tartar and the cheese platter. But this list can go on and on since everything we have tried here was delicious.
Mila C — Google review
Superbe place. Amazing food: original, with local products and homemade. And super nice waiters too! And very clean
Alice M — Google review
Nice rural ambience, VERY good food (forget the insalata caprese con buffala from Italy and try the better one: ensalada de tomate con payoya). Thereafter beef and chicken, both tasty. Nice and attentive service. Seems to be a hot spot for younger families. Sitting outside on Grazalema streets it can even in July be windy/(re-)freshing in the night so take a pullover with you.

Restaurant
Restaurante Bar Josefi had been closed for a duration of two years, but upon its reopening, the opportunity presented itself to visit on the first day. The establishment proved to be highly commendable, serving as an excellent choice for lunch. Despite limited English proficiency among most staff members, they were exceedingly pleasant. Furthermore, the cuisine was delectable and made from fresh ingredients, all at reasonable prices. The olives served prior to the main dishes were particularly favored by the husband.
It was closed for 2 years, and we managed to go there on first day of reopening. We stopped there for lunch, and we can only recommend this place. The staff was very nice (even if most of them didn't speak english :) ) , the food delicious and fresh, and the prices are reasonable. My husband espcially loved the olives wich they served before the main dishes. Lovely place!
Varga Á — Google review
This was a fun discovery. The food was homemade and quite tasty. Tagarninas are in season, so they were included in the potaje, quite yummy. The second course was the berenjena rellena, great flavors. For dessert, the Tocino del Cielo had great texture.
DAL — Google review
We chose this restaurant based on the former reviews, since it had the best average in the city. However it was a true disappointment. We sat for 75 minutes before receiving our food even though it wasn't a busy time at all (a few other tables with guests). We had scrambled eggs with potato and chorizo, shrimps in marinated oil and entrecote. The eggs were bathed in half a liter of oil, the meat was completely tasteless and dry and the shrimps had not had their intestines removed which made them taste rather gross. All in all a very bad experience.
Nichlas W — Google review
Very nice stuff and good food! Would return here if will be around here again.
Rihards K — Google review
Best place to eat in town hands down. Good service and decent menu although some vegetarian options would have been nice. Outdoor seating was uncomfortable and mixed in with smoker's. Deserts were delicious.
Paul B — Google review
Very good place. Prices start from 10€ for the main dish.
Konstantin M — Google review
Don't be fooled by the name: this is not a bar, but a quality restaurant. It is a little bit far from the city center but it is well worth the walk (and the price tag). You absolutely have to try the Berenjenas San Jacobo, the perfectly fried chipirones, the excellent Ali-Oli sauce and the piquillos but, above all, the mind-blowing cheese cake. My mother literally broke into tears eating the cheese cake, saying she hadn't eaten one like it in 15 years.
Manuel V — Google review
Nice little place outside of the busy center. Food is plentiful and feels homemade. Recommended!

Restaurant
Restaurante Cádiz El Chico, a former Michelin Star establishment, offers excellent service and a pleasant dining experience. Although there are some minor areas for improvement in this upscale venue, such as serving vinegar in plastic containers and offering store-bought bread, the quality of the food remains high. The menu features a delicious steak option, as well as swordfish and a standout wild boar stew that received high praise from patrons.
I miss here and Grazalema! Several years ago, I accidentally visited in El Chico by myself on my road trip in Andalusia. The server was very warm and lovely, pleasant place, foods were taste so good! I hope to be here again! -from Seoul-
KJ Y — Google review
Ok at best. Dishes are pretty unimaginative and it's more of a bar with more tables than a restaurant. The portions are big but low quality. The prices are high for the quality offered. Very sad looking potatoes and salad/vegetables. I think the wild boar stew wasn't all boar, and I found some regular pork in it. I find the Michelin star stories very hard to believe.
Joanna J — Google review
Came here with the tour guide on the Ronda excursion and the food was amazing. We are vegetarians so we were worried about the options but everything we tried was better than I expected. Definitely recommend the pasta and fried cheese bites. Lasagna was good too but I personally found the pasta better. Highly recommend if you are coming to Grazalema!
Gagandeep J — Google review
An amazing find for lunch! We visited here for lunch as recommended by our tour guides and we were pleasantly surprised as how delicious the food was. We ordered the Queso Frito , vegetarian pasta, a mixed salad for 2, and Tinto de verano. The Queso Frito was our favourite dish, fried cheese on a raspberry sauce and honey. Similar to fried Halloumi, it was very unique and so delicious. Very reasonably priced meal and quick service.
Sigrid L — Google review
My husband and I came for a meal here on the last night of our honeymoon and I can honestly say it was the best meal we had all holiday! The staff were friendly and looked after us well. The food was impeccable. I had the swordfish and it was unbelievable. We would definitely visit here again the next time we are in the area !
Melissa M — Google review
We shared the salad and leg of lamb with potatoes. This by far has been the best meal we have had while visiting Spain. The lamb was so tender, potatoes and salad excellent. If you are able be sure to eat here!
Coleen H — Google review
I am not a high end restaurant consumer but let me tell you this place came out swinging. The traditional dish of shrimp in garlic was one of the best I have consumed in Spain. The cuts of meats were a little too red for me but still very juicy and tender. Now the cheese cake was a different style. It was a little more robust and harder inside. Highly recommend trying this place during the week because I can only assume during the weekend you will not be able to reserve a table.
Christian A — Google review
Our tour guide bring us to this restaurant, we found out that it’s a Michelin restaurant. They serve nice oxtails stew, tomato soup. Overall we are satisfied with the food. Food: 4 stars Environment: 3.5 stars Worth to try: 4 stars Value for money: 4 stars

The restaurant Restarante el Cortijo de Zahara is an adorable establishment with exceptional service and delectable cuisine. It was stumbled upon by chance while exploring, and upon entering, it immediately captivated with its charming ambiance. The attentive waiter provided prompt and courteous assistance amidst other patrons. The menu boasted delightful Spanish dishes that truly showcased the region's flavors. Prices were reasonable, portions generous, although unfortunately, the fireplace was not in use due to a lack of firewood.
Such a romantic place to celebrate my daughter's engagement, just after coming down from the castle. We had the patio to ourselves, and our waiter let us stay as long as we liked. The food was very good and the atmosphere perfect, with twinkling lights in the tree next to our table. A wonderful experience!

It was so good the first time we returned the following evening. First day my husband had meatballs, which he loved and I had a spinach salad. The second time I had hake(merluza) my husband had churrasca de cerdo, some kind of pork fillet that he raved about. Quite funny considering he was expecting a burger for some reason. The first evening we sat inside, the second time in the courtyard. Lovely atmosphere.

We stumbled upon this restaurant at Zahara de la Sierra and had a fantastic meal! It really lives up to its good reviews. The grilled prawns were bursting with flavour, salad with tomatoes and avocado was really good, and the chicken skewers…*chef’s kiss*
Renee L — Google review
Great courtyard that looks out over the hills. Food is excellent and my portion of couscous was *huge*. Adam did a great job, probably the most attentive service I had in Spain.
Josh O — Google review
We were visiting the area and stopped for a late lunch. This restaurant doesn't seem to close for the typical afternoon siesta hours and therefore draws people from all over the city looking for refreshments and food. It has a very cozy vibe outside where kids can play and adults can relax. For food we had the burger and chicken skewers. Both of which were a big serving and completely delicious! We also tried the fried cheese which was a very interesting flavor that could have been a dessert or a starter. The prices were excellent and service was friendly. I highly recommend this place and would definitely visit again!
Zack P — Google review
The tanjines with vegetables as well as the couscous with vegetables were good and very plentiful. The grilled prawns were really really good. It was the lamb and couscous that was outstanding with wonderful flavors of raisins cinnamon and cloves and meat so perfectly cooked it literally fell off the bone.
Jeff B — Google review
Nice place friendly and welcoming service. Food was good too but beware of the bill. The waiter was really good service but he over charged us for a beer. Told him we only order 2 beer but he insisted 3.

Good food. Large portions. Menu is on your phone and you order on your phone. This makes it difficult to ask about dishes. However food was tasty and good quality. We had a good night.
