Le Grau-du-Roi in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Le Grau-du-Roi, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Le Grau-du-Roi is a Mediterranean seaside town known for its long sandy beaches, including the wild and windswept Espiguette beach. Its working fishing port and nearby Port Camargue marina create a strong maritime atmosphere, with plenty of opportunities for boating and fresh seafood. The town also offers easy access to the Camargue’s distinctive landscapes, where you can see marshes, lagoons, and wildlife such as flamingos and Camargue horses. A compact center with shops, cafés, and a summer fairground adds to its appeal as a relaxed, family-friendly destination.
With favorites like Babyland, Casino Tranchant Le Grau-du-Roi | Casino Flamingo, and Seaquarium Institut Marin, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Restoro and Pizza camargue so you can get the best taste of Le Grau-du-Roi while you’re here. Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Seaquarium Institut Marin, located in Le Grau-du-Roi, is a family-friendly destination open year-round. Situated on the left bank of Grau du Roi in Petite Camargue, it's easily accessible with elevators for visitors with reduced mobility. The massive aquarium houses over 200 different marine species including sharks, turtles, seals, and sea lions. Visitors can enjoy unique and fascinating experiences observing these creatures in specially designed tanks while learning from caretakers' explanations and presentations.
Large aquarium with lots of different areas and break out rooms. We have been to aquariums all over but this one is very good with the variety of fish and sharks to see. The kids loved it, there is lots of toilets and lifts available throughout the whole experience. It took us around 1 hour and half to get around the whole tour followed by a gift shop and cafe at the end.

One of the best oceanariums I have visited in France. I think it’s pretty cozy and definitely can be an attractive touristic spot in summer.
Kirill M — Google review
Nice way to get out of the heat. But apparently everyone else in the entire south France has the same idea. Parking a car was not the easiest. Saw lots of fish. Some very large things. Some tiny things. The shop was good. WiFi didn't work.
Douglas S — Google review
It's a nice place to spend time with kids or anyone who's interested in underwater life. For 16€ for an adult, you can see sharks, rays, huge turtles, different fish, other sea creatures and seals. The place is full of information about sea life, endangered species, water pollution puzzles for curious minds. The day I visited the seaquarium, there was a quest for children : they got a task at the entrance and had to look for clues around the aquarium. So their time there wasn't just wondering around and watching fish. There's a parking next to it and a few places to eat. The photos I post can't show the real beauty of the place, so go and check it yourself 🤗

Very nice place to visit. Was quite packed, but it was a nice experience for us and our 16 months old
Peter S — Google review
Great Aquarium for a 2-hour visit! Plenty of activities for kids, clean and tidy aquariums. The fish look healthy and well taken care of. The entrance fees are reasonable for what you can see and do. There are some booths for pictures, an area where you can touch mini-sharks (highly recommended, really cool experience also for kids as they cannot bite). Overall a nice experience and time well spent! Really educative especially with regards to sensibilisation to waste in the oceans.
Jean-Pierre T — Google review
Nice and modern sea aquarium. We were there during end of season and some items were not in use or was being cleaned. Fair money for value. Staff friendly and helpful. Highlight is are the baby sharks wich can be touched. That was a stunning experience. Interesting story of the monk seal. Visit is worth it.

Water & Amusement Parks
Theme Parks
Babyland in Grau du Roi is an amusement park designed for children up to 12 years old. The park offers a variety of attractions including rides, a pirate river, kiddie pool, electric cars, bumper cars, slides, and more. Entry is free and the rides operate on tokens. There are dining options available such as La Peche aux canards and other snack kiosks offering ice cream, pancakes, and sweets. Additionally, there are mini-golf courses on-site.
Good place to go with kids for adults its not enough;)
Agy G — Google review
Great place for kids from 2 to 10 years old. It is not paid directly with money, you have to purchase chips for each entertainment, at the cash register. There is a restaurant near by, also toilet with tax of 0,50 Eurocents. An ice cream Kiosk, pancakes, sweets. The water park is just for little kids, nor for adults but there are plastic chairs for free on which you can sit on the shadow and read a book while your kids play in the water. There are also 2 tables with benches if you brought some picnic with you.
Cristina-Maria H — Google review
Babyland is a small amusement park that’s perfect for little ones, especially toddlers and younger children. There are plenty of age-appropriate rides from mini cars and boats to trampolines, bouncy castles and a little roller coaster. I really liked that parents can control the start and stop of many rides, which makes it easy and safe for younger kids. The token system works well (buying a pack gives you better value), and entry to the park itself is free. It’s a nice way to spend an hour or two away from the beach, and the children had a great time. That said, the park could do with a bit of care and updating, as some attractions feel old. The toilets aren’t the cleanest, and we found the snack bar slow with staff not particularly friendly. Prices also felt a little high for what you get. Tokens work out to be roughly around £2 each per so per person. Overall, it’s worth a visit if you have small children and want something simple and fun, but don’t expect a polished theme park experience.
Liam S — Google review
Difficult to find parking close by but a really good set up with 3 nice mini-golf courses in a beautiful setting. However, the practice of only giving one golf ball to each group, however big the group, really slows things down and can cause traffic jams. Good fun though.
Paul G — Google review
Lovely place and delightful staff. Fun golf courses. Three to choose from.

Historical immersion....our children were engrossed as technology of tablets and games were smartly used for the tour. It was fun and worth visiting.

Very disappointing. Went there for a meal at the restaurant. Lots of empty tables but were not accepted because they already had too many orders. The staff obviously cannot handle a regular work load on a Friday evening and is unprofessional/rude.

I have lost my sunglasses last year in this resaurant. Yesterday the waitress of the restaurant was wearing the same type of sunglasses. After he refuse to discuss with me, I called the police. The management of the restaurant ask me and my family to leave the table without finishing the meal. The waitress become also very aggressive, attempting to hit me. What a shame.

This was simply the worst experience we could have had. Mistakes, like missing placing the order to the kitchen can happen but the arrogance, not-my-problem attitude , even pointing out that they don’t care after one hour waiting time with a small child was simply the worst. If you want to be spitted in the face by the manager attitude wise this is the place to go. If not just save yourself the experience.
Simon E — Google review
Nice welcoming team when we arrived. We ordered drinks, one starter to share and 5 main courses. After the starter was cleared (which to be fair was really tasty) we waited what seemed to be a really long time. My mother got up and asked what was going on when we saw a table arrived after us was already served. The waiter told my mother they forgot to communicate to the kitchen to send the mains. If we hadn't asked, I guess we would still be waiting. Poor management of the floor. We decided to leave as one of us was a 2 and a half years old starving. When leaving really disappointed we refused to pay our drinks when really the restaurant should have been volunteering to offer the drinks after forgetting our table and letting us wait for so long. The manager even shouted at my mother that she couldn't give a shit about what we thought and the reviews we would write. Really not professional at all.

asked three waitwes to place an order. we were ignored for 15 minutes. others sat down and could order immediately. we left.

(Translated by Google) Officially the worst pizzas of our lives. Served 30 minutes late, with no apologies, of course. The pizza was tasteless, bland, and we're still looking for the topping. We wanted to try it, but seeing the positive reviews, we should have stayed away! We ran away. (Original) Officiellement les pizzas les plus mauvaises de notre vie. Servies avec 30 minutes de retard, sans excuses bien sûr. Pizza sans goût, fade, on cherche encore la garniture. (Translated by Google) Pizza with very dry, almost biscuit-like edges, and the center of the pizza under the topping was also very hard. The pizza didn't really have any flavor (neither the tomato sauce nor the cheese); the condiments overpowered it because it was so salty. The toppings were nevertheless generous, and the service was also very good.

(Translated by Google) Very disappointed with the order, ie We were supposed to be delivered, nothing... supposedly we didn't specify, in short let's give them the benefit of the doubt even if we know what we asked for, we went there... What a disappointment to open the boxes to discover all the pizzas burnt and with so few garnishes, they look like frozen pizzas forgotten in the oven, they all crunch under the bite and none tasteless Gentlemen, ladies flee!!!! To post this message I had to put a star, but I would have preferred not to put it (Original) Très déçu de la commande, c'est à dire On devait être livré, rien... soit disant on avait pas précisé, bref laissons leur le bénéfice du doute même si on sait ce qu'on a demandé, on y est allé...
