Makarska in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Makarska, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Makarska draws visitors with its dramatic setting between the Biokovo mountain range and the clear Adriatic Sea, offering striking views in every direction. A long pebble beach, palm-lined promenade, and lively waterfront cafés make it a classic Croatian seaside resort. The town’s compact old center, with its Baroque church and open-air market, adds local character and history. From Makarska, you can easily take boat trips to nearby islands or explore hiking and cycling trails in Biokovo Nature Park.
With favorites like Restaurant Riva | RIVA - MAKARSKA d.o.o., Pivnica Pivac, and Jež, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Grill Vučko and Mr. Wok so you can get the best taste of Makarska while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Nature & Parks
Parks
Biokovo Nature Park is a mountainous national park offering hiking trails, rock-climbing, and stunning views of the landscape. The entrance fee for adults is around 10 euros. Access to the Skywalk can be challenging due to limited vehicle capacity, but the breathtaking views make it worth the effort. The road to the Skywalk is narrow and demanding, but once there, visitors are rewarded with fantastic panoramic vistas.
Absolutely breathtaking experience at Biokovo Skywalk. The views are out of this world — the Adriatic stretching endlessly below, islands floating in the distance, and the glass platform gives you that amazing thrill without feeling unsafe. But what really stood out to me is how untouched the whole park feels. It’s wild, raw, and real — we even saw horses and cows grazing freely along the mountain roads. That said, YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND: this is a nature park, not a polished tourist attraction. This is a narrow, winding mountain road shared by cars, motorcycles, and bicycles — and sometimes horses and cows. GOOD DRIVING SKILLS ARE ESSENTIAL!!! You must be able to handle tight spaces, back up confidently, and park parallel without stress. Most importantly, leave your ego at the entrance. Everyone shares the road equally; no one is more important than anyone else. Be patient, courteous, and respectful toward others — that’s the only way everyone can safely enjoy this beautiful place. We came unprepared without an online ticket, but the staff was very kind and told us we could wait in the parking lot while purchasing it online. We had five minutes to complete the purchase, then joined the line. In total, we waited about an hour. They let in around 20 cars every hour, but it depends on how many visitors are already in the park — people can stay as long as they want, so entrance is regulated to preserve the experience and the environment. Be patient — it’s absolutely worth it.

Experience is beautiful! It's such a good feeling being there, enjoying the nature and breathing fresh air. There are horses on the road so drive carefully, don't feed them and pet them 🤗 Skywalk is such a good and a bit scary experience if you are afraid of heights. But don't worry, it's completely safe! And view is majestic!
Nikola M — Google review
Tip extreme will take you up and down the mountain safely in comfy small orange buses. Very professional and friendly guides, AMAZING drivers make sure you enjoy yourself with some local delicasies whilst absorbing stunning views and nature. Definitely wear wind proof jacket and trousers, it’s windy and cold at the top on the skywalk. Prepare for an adrenaline filled drive down the mountain when cars have to pass by the coach on the narrow road. There is only one road going up and down. We are happy we chose this company to drive us safely.
Gintare P — Google review
Purchase of tickets online was easy but advance booking is recommended. Even in Oct, there were only few slots left for some timings. The drive up is difficult as the lane is shared by cars going up & down. Was nerve wrecking to be so close to the rocks or the fence-less sides when giving way to oncoming cars. Driving on Amalfi coast is now considered easy after Biokovo. Entered the park at 10am and took 30mins to drive up to the skywalk. Proceeded to drive to the highest point, Sv. Jure, which took us another 30mins. As you get closer, the drive becomes more demanding but still do able. The landscapes change as you drive higher up. Along the way, we saw horses! I would definitely recommend going to the summit as the views even more fantastic. Biokovo turned out to be more one of our fav sights in our Croatia road trip.
SPmoochi C — Google review
Awesome experience driving to the top . It is 14 km drive and narrow street. The move you go up the better the view becomes.. It was unfortunately cloudy so we did not had good view from the skywalk but the experience to go to the top was amazing.
Sunil K — Google review
Skywalk is cool but it's maybe 15 minutes. The ride up and down are very cool, great views, hairpins and steep dropoffs. A great view from the top, a fire devastated this area and they are in the process of cutting and stacking the trees. We're not sure why they have the timed entry we must have encountered at least 30 cars on our way up.
Robert Q — Google review
This skywalk is a curved, glass-bottom walkway on a mountain ridge in Biokovo Nature Park. You'll get the feeling of floating in the sky at an elevation of 4,000 feet—not an experience for the faint of heart! You need to buy tickets online in order to get a spot to drive up the mountain at a selected time, otherwise you're out of luck. You get a determined amount of time up on the mountain / walkway, but it's highly worth it.
Mat B — Google review
These two didn’t accept our tickets. They told us that we were late, even though the ticket is valid for the whole day. Very unfriendly staff in the park — they were rude, turned away, and didn’t want to talk to us properly.

Skywalk Biokovo

4.8
(5457)
Skywalk Biokovo, located in the Biokovo Nature Park, is a popular attraction that offers breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding islands. The glass walkway, which opened in 2020, provides an adrenaline-inducing experience as it stands 1,228m above sea level. Visitors can also explore hiking trails within the park for a more immersive experience. It's recommended to book tickets online and plan your visit strategically to avoid crowds on the road leading up to the skywalk.
Amazing view, whole platform have glass panels, so you feel like walking in the sky. Driving up is bit tricky, but worth a it. Go by smaller car. Weather can change in minute, you never know if it will be cloudy or not, take a risk!
Jan V — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! The views from Skywalk Biokovo are breathtaking - you can see the whole Makarska Riviera, islands and the mountains at the same time. The glass platform is exciting but feels safe, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Try to go early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid queues and enjoy cooler weather. Totally worth the drive (don’t have to be pro, but extra careful advisory) and the ticket price!
Mateusz M — Google review
Worth the journey, provided you have pre-booked your tickets. You need to book (at least) a day ahead for a time slot to enter the park. Once in, you can spend as long as you like within the park and on the skywalk itself. Stunning views from the skywalk, better than the pictures portray and it gives a sense of ‘floating’ above the coast below. The drive up can easily take 20min, so make sure to accommodate time for that.
Mat B — Google review
Amazing experience. Well worth the views. We paid on the day and did not pre book. We visited in October and it was not crowded. The road is narrow and precarious in places, especially driving to the highest point. Take a jumper or jacket particularly in the later months.. it can get cold at the top. Beautiful scenery... worth a visit!
Nikki W — Google review
Went as part of an coach excursion so had priority access. Cars can wait upto 30 minutes. Saw amazing views of tucepi and makarska and islands of Hvar and Brac. Then enjoyed a walk into Biokovo national park
Michael — Google review
We parked behind the church in upper Tucepi and walked towards the village of Podpeč, turned right along the footpath as the Garmin led in the direction of the Biokovo road and after 2 and a half hours we reached the skywalk, which was closed on 1.11.2025, but it is possible to take wonderful photos on the right. This path is easy and after 1 hour on foot there is a spring of water. You need to have at least 1l of water per person. The path from the Jabuka Tavern is also marked, it is more strenuous and goes straight up the hill, it is very strenuous and steep, the skywalk is currently closed.
Ivanna S — Google review
Went over here and was there for about an hour. Got some stunning photos on the way up there, I'll include some here. It's 14 kilometers from down to the actual Skywalk. I highly recommend getting tickets in advance if you don't want to wait longer. Also, the line gets a little long so it kinda blocks the road for a few moments before you get to drive up to the Skywalk. There was some cows blocking the road on the way down. There's also some wild horses up there.
Snarp — Google review
Check the cloud cover before you go! If you cannot see the top of the mountain, when you get to the Skywalk, even though it is 500 metres below the very top, you won't see very much! I speak from experience. However, the cloud did lift somewhat and we could just make out the lights of Tučepi and Makarska. Top tip: if you're a man and it's raining, take off your shirt and leave it in your car. When you go back to your car, you have a warm, dry shirt to put on. Again, I speak from experience.

Cocktail bar
Mediterranean restaurant
Restoran Bounty is an elegant beachfront dining spot in Makarska, offering a terrace with a focus on serving cocktails, wine, and traditional cuisine. While the restaurant doesn't have a dedicated vegan menu, it does offer options like veggie salad and quinoa salad (minus the feta cheese) as well as veggie burgers (though not entirely vegan due to mayonnaise). The burgers come with delicious fries and Guacamole Mayo sauce.
We come here every year when we're on vacation. Our favourite restaurant in Makarska with beautiful sunset seaview and the beautiful mountain behind. The food is always good. The waiter and waitress are very friendly. They were also very playful and kind to our son Luka. Love this place and would recommend this restaurant to everyone!
SK M — Google review
Lush! Loved it! Beautiful view of sunset when I came to eat which made it all the better. I had the steak and mash which was delicious. Cooked perfectly and had a nice cocktail to go alongside it. It is one of the more expensive places however service was amazing and you definitely get what you pay for
Caitlin B — Google review
Beautiful seafront historic bar & restaurant! We visited in low season (April), so it wasn't very busy. Friendly staff, gorgeous views. The female waiter recomended the Dalmatian local 187ml red wine (so fruity!) and my Fiance enjoyed a local draft 0,5l beer. Red Wine measurements in Croatia - is not like the UK. Croatia prefer 100ml, 187ml (from a small bottle) or a full 750ml. The whites and rosé have a variety of sizes. We think it's because it's a hot climate, so drinking cooler wine is more popular! Lots of seating outdoors on the actual beach stones, lovely balcony literally waves lapping underneath you, and we sat indoors with around 10 tables. I can imagine summer will be packed.
MISS C — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant Bounty renowned for its exceptional grill steak, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. This establishment truly knows how to deliver a steak that is cooked to perfection, leaving me with a memorable and satisfying dining experience. The service at this restaurant is also worth noting. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu 👏🏻☺️
Olga N — Google review
Difficult to rate this restaurant 5 stars, as some dishes they do very well, while some they fell to. Overall is a nice culinary experience but it depends to ones taste also. The rib eye was very good, along with the sweet potato purée, on the other hand the t-bone seemed they rushed to get it out to the table, a bit uncooked and quite greasy. The staff is friendly but at times they seem overloaded and I have never liked being told that the tip is not included, showing that they expect tip. Tip is up to the customer consideration and should not be put under pressure to feel the urgency to leave tip. I recommend it, but make sure to book a table next to the sea, this way you will really have a nice view and good food, if chosen carefully
Dania — Google review
Food: Oberall very good food. The BBQ Ribs were great. The Tuna steak was overcooked but the service was excellent and we got a new dish. Service: Very good and friendly service. Very attentive and customer focused (see comment above). Location: amazing location right at tha sea with lots of seating options. We very much enjoyed it. Prices: Prices are ok, certainly considering the location. Verdict: Great Restaurant. I can highly recommend it.
Andreas J — Google review
Took 15 minutes for a waiter to come to the table to welcome us and order drinks, despite going up to the bar and then being told someone will come to us. Drinks were slightly overpriced for what they were (€4 for a bottle of iced tea) but lovely outside area and because the service is so slow it's basically like a free place to sit in the shade in a comfy seat!
Josie F — Google review
Spacious restaurant located right at the beach with various sitting possibilities ranging from couches, sofas, comfy chairs and dining tables. The dining tables are located right at the sea, giving the impression of floating above the water. The looks and design of this place are 5/5. We only had drinks here, several days. They serve food, open beers, coffee and cocktails. We tried different cocktails every day and they were all well made, tasty and nicely served. A big downside of this restaurant are the waiters. The staff is untrained and seems lost in its job and forgetting orders. Two times on different days we were given the menu and instead of giving us time to choose, the waiters waited impatiently until we chose our drinks (even though the restaurant was almost empty), giving us a bad feeling and need to hurry. In summary, good drinks and ambience but the experience is ruined by the bad service.

Pub
Pivnica Pivac, also known as Rooster Pub, is a popular spot located on the waterfront in a renovated 200-year-old building. It's a favorite among locals and tourists alike for its relaxed atmosphere, pub quizzes, good music, and wide selection of drinks at the bar. The pub offers pleasant views of the main promenade and stays open until 2 am with an uncommonly good music playlist.
As a live-music, rockband bartender myself, this was definitely the place to go. Although I only went for coffee as it was my last day of vacation; excellent choose in beers, great service, very good taste in rock music playlists, plenty of seating inside and out, wonderful atmosphere and creatively decorated bathroom! (Ladies, idk about the men's).

Good variety of craft beers. Staff are attentive and helpful. If you wish to sample a beer you only have to ask. Lively atmosphere. Can get very busy. Only downside for me is that people sometimes smoke inside, however there is plenty of seating outdoors.

Fantastic selection of all beer and they have my favorite, Pilsner Urquell, on draught. Great craft options as well. We went each night we were in Makarska. 10/10

Great beer, fast service! Authentic place. Always full!
Sebastian K — Google review
We went to Pivac to taste the craft beer and we were overwhelmed. Service was really nice and they explained us everything regarding the craft beer and the selection of whisky. We've tried local whisky and we were not disappointed. I personally recommend local Croatian sour beer and Croatian whisky. The atmosphere of the place is something to look forward to if you want something different than the 'beach' bar. I strongly recommend this place and we will come back for sure.

Osejava Forest Park is a stunning wooded peninsula in Makarska, offering forested paths for hiking and biking with panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea. The park is covered with dense pine forest and Mediterranean vegetation, and its rocky shore provides beach access. Visitors can enjoy activities like jogging, cycling, or cliff jumping into the crystal-clear sea. The area features beautiful pine forests, breathtaking viewpoints, and enchanting natural scenery along the coast between Tucepi and Makarska city.
A beautiful park close to Makarska. It’s a vast area with plenty of spots for walking, biking, relaxing, and enjoying the stunning views. You can access this wonderful place from the port side of Makarska. Highly recommended for everyone!
Dariusz S — Google review
Absolutely beautiful park that connects the town and port, right by the promenade and stretching toward the southern side under Makarska. There are a few paths to choose from, but I’d definitely recommend the one closest to the water — amazing cliff and sea views. The terrain is super varied too, with rocky spots, little hills, and different levels — one path runs much lower than the other, which makes the whole walk more interesting. Along the way you’ll find a few benches, plenty of shade, and the whole walk takes about 30 minutes to get to Nugal beach. The views? Unreal. The colors? Stunning. Just a perfect spot.
Karol K — Google review
Winding paths lead through rocky terrain at varying elevations, revealing dramatic cliff- and sea‑side views throughout. Warning - wear good walking shoes and bring water as the paths to the various “beaches” are long, steep, and primarily rock.
Cody R — Google review
Very nice place for a short walk in the nature - it is an easy track however you can take beautiful pictures. I would recommend you to come here before sunset so you can see it from above, it is breathtaking, you will enjoy it for sure. After the sun is set down, you still have like 30 minutes to go back to the city - during the night I donw recommend to go without flashligh because of rocky road it could be dangerous. Definitely if you come here, come in hiking shoes or at least running shoes - definitely not in “slippers” (you would regret doing so)
René Z — Google review
Rocky roads, good views and relatively clean. Plenty of seats are available along the route. Regardless, walking through the entire park in 38+°C is not worth it. No animals besides cicada and other insects.
Sara M — Google review
Amazing place for relaxing or hiking. Spectacular views and fresh and salty air. It's a relaxing place, and wonderful to visit. Bring your own water while hiking. Proper shoe wear is a must. The trails are prepped but I would recommend hiking shoes or trail shoes.

It's a nice place to take a walk. You can take a look at the town and make some nice pictures any time of the day. Visited this place a few times. It would be nice if you can take a walk during the day and another one when night comes. The night view is very nice, it's quiet and you can see half the city and the harbor. It's a good place to take some night photos.

Shopping mall
The SPOT Mall Makarska is a compact and modern shopping center that offers a diverse range of stores without overwhelming visitors. Despite its relative newness, the mall boasts all the essentials one would expect to find in a larger complex. Notably, it features a spacious Tommy Grocery store, which seamlessly integrates into the vibrant city atmosphere. Additionally, there is ample parking available with a complimentary two-hour limit, making it convenient for shoppers.
Typical Mall “American Style”. It’s very convenient that Müller is here (on two floors), you have several clothing stores (I was so happy to find Intersport here!) and a huge supermarket that is open till late. Some parking options outside before the building, a larger parking area on the lower level (basement). Here you can also “cash in” old, empty cans and plastic bottles. You also find a cafe on the upper floor, a car rental and a tech-store. For rainy days and shopping trips.
Chiaradina C — Google review
Good and nicely decorated center. In the summer months it is small for the amount of visitors. It takes a lot of effort to find parking, even in the underground garage. Parking is free for 2 hours for visitors and customers of the center.

Men's toilets were unusable. Other than that a decent tiny mall. Many arcade games to try and a cotton candy machine. Could use more cafe/food selection.

Outdoor Activities
Nugal Beach, situated approximately 2 km south of Makarska city on the Makarska Riviera, is a well-known natural haven. It is celebrated for its secluded ambiance and stunning surroundings. The beach features soft white sand nestled between sheer rocky cliffs and is famous as Croatia's most popular nudist beach.
Beautiful beach — about a 30-minute walk through the park from Osejava beach, right at the end of the port in Makarska. Super easy trail, even with small kids. Gorgeous cliffs, colors, and views all along the way. Lots of shade and a few benches here and there. The beach itself is amazing — next to a big rock wall, with plenty of trees and spots to hide from the sun. Even in May, with maybe 20-30 people around, there were a few nudists. The wall has spray-painted signs saying “no nudists,” but they’re crossed out — so yeah, looks like there’s been some kind of back-and-forth about it. Either way, the beach is super accessible, which makes it kinda awkward when older naked dudes just hang out in plain sight while there are kids around. Not cool. But hey, that’s on the people, not the place. The beach itself? Brilliant. Just check out the photos. Easy walk into the water, crystal clear sea. Really, really nice.
Karol K — Google review
A dreamy path leads to the beach. However, the nude beach was very small and didn’t really feel like a proper nude beach (only a few people).
Arash T — Google review
This was the best beach we’ve visited during our trip in Croacia. We parked the car in Kaufland and walked around 20 min to get there. Google maps provided the route and it worked well. We went on a Sunday during June and it wasn’t crowded. There’s no services so make sure to bring some food/water
Mariela P — Google review
The beach is beautiful, but since people with children started coming here, it is no longer a nudist beach — now everyone wears clothing. Be aware if you’re looking for FKK beaches: this one is no longer one of them!
Olha K — Google review
Nugal Beach, located near Makarska on the Croatian coast, is a true hidden paradise for those willing to go off the beaten path. Reaching the beach requires a moderate hike through a forest trail that winds along rocky terrain and eventually descends a steep cliffside — sturdy shoes and a sense of adventure are essential. The walk may be challenging, especially under the summer sun, but once you arrive, you’re greeted by a stunning, secluded cove surrounded by dramatic cliffs and untouched nature. The beach itself is small and made up of fine pebbles, with incredibly clear, turquoise water that invites you to swim and relax for hours. It’s peaceful and uncrowded, partly due to the difficult access, and it maintains a wild, almost untouched feel. It’s also known as a clothing-optional beach, so nudists are a common sight, adding to the laid-back, free-spirited atmosphere. There are no facilities, shops, or shade, so bring everything you need — water, snacks, and sun protection are a must. Despite these limitations, or perhaps because of them, Nugal Beach remains one of the most beautiful and authentic beach experiences in the region. If you’re willing to make the effort to get there, you’ll be rewarded with serenity, natural beauty, and some of the clearest water you’ll ever swim in.

Beautiful beach just 30 minutes away from Makarska! Accessible by breathtaking hiking rail! Beach is clean with plenty of shadow! Recommended! P.S. this is a clothes optional beach, we were not aware of it, but there were few nudists around. Everyone was respectful though

In price to quality ratio, I would say it's very good. I got the tuna steak and my fiancé bought a whole fish. The other people in our company bought the fish in breadcrumbs and whole fish. Overall I would say it's worth a visit. It's very cheap for being right by the ocean. Nice view.

Very delicious food on top location on the beach. Top to come and eat by the sounds of the waves. I can recommend it to everyone who is in Makarska.

Food was delicous, loved the amount of garlic in my dish :) We didn't wait for too long and the waiter was very friendly.

Loved it, visited several times while we were in Makarska. There is an great number of dishes on the menu, but what is more surprising is that all of them seems to be actually available and freshly prepared. We tried fishes, seafood and traditional balkan foods, all of tasted very good. The service is excellent, the waiters are very nice and helpful, they even knew a couple of words on my language (Hungarian) that was funny. The prices seemed quite reasonable.

Quality of food and service is very poor for this price range. For this price I expected some quality. Drinks came in plastic bottles and the glasses were hot, we ordered pizza for cca. 65 kn, but they brought us frozen pizza from Lidl that's 20 kn. I've eaten much better and bigger pizzas for less, and it took them too long to prepare it. They are practically ripping you off just because tourists don't know the price ranges in Croatia. you can get much better food in Makarska, hell, even i local bakery.

Very good food, nice service! Great portions. The only thing is that for bigger groups (there were 8 of us) there was no space to sit. They relocated other guests to make room for us. Luckily the guests wanted to move so that we could sit at one table as a group.

Mr. Wok, located in Makarska, Croatia, is a highly recommended street food restaurant offering a variety of delicious dishes. Visitors have praised the amazing food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. The menu includes options such as dumplings, gyoza, noodles with shrimp, tuna tortillas (wraps), and flavorful pizzas. Customers have also enjoyed the chicken and shrimp wok dishes as well as the chicken wrap.
One of the best fast food places we have ever been. The wok noodles were amazing, and the pizza was just great. You guys did a very good job and I wish you a great business. We will come back.

Avoid this place at all costs. The food was absolute garbage not fit for humans or animals. Service or should I say lack of service especially by the older blonde lady was disgusting. I ordered a beer and asked where the beer was as I am not used to having beer stored in same fridge as soft drinks and she rudely yelled and pointed its in the fridge. Also cash only but no signage to say this. Overpriced rubbish. The food had zero Asian flavour or any flavour and of very low quality. Do yourself a favour and save your money, AVOID Mr Wok. I would give this place a zero if I could. I forgot to take photos of the crappy food as I was so blown away by the mouthy old blonde giving me attitude. On a positive note the beer was cold but nothing else positive about this place.

Bleurgh. Super oily. Barely any vegetables and maximum carb (rice/noodle), poor quality ingredients, weird and bad service. Just go to the Thai place instead, it is phenomenal.

Ordered food with delivery and it was so slow, we waited for about 1h 30min. And sweet and chilli wok “Prvi poljubac wok” was too spicy (not sweet and chilli souce) and it was 98% rice with few pieces of chicken.

Biggest disappointment of our stay in Croatia. Never had such disgusting food in any restaurant/bar. WOK dish we ordered were completly greasy, prepared from cheapest ingridients - we didn't even make it to half of the box. Pasta mixed with carrots/ cabbage / chicken & big pieces of fat called 'bacon' in menu. The only thing we thought of after tasting was puking... hope we wont get sick. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Delight in their innovative dishes that showcase a fusion of Mediterranean flavors using locally sourced ingredients with hints of international cuisines like Asian. Indulge in an array of creatively presented snacks that promise to surprise and satisfy your palate.
Really interesting, super comfy, and most importantly — absolutely delicious restaurant right at the end of the main promenade, where the port wraps up and the park trail to Nugal Beach begins. Right next to the big corner parking lot. It’s not right in the middle of the busiest pedestrian zone, which actually works in its favor — you’ll find plenty of garden seating and a good number of tables inside too. Technically it's called street food, but the quality is way above what you'd usually associate with that label. The menu is super diverse — from chicken to sushi — and everything was well-prepared, nicely plated, and served with great care. The waiter took excellent care of us, really made the whole experience pleasant. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

• The location is fantastic—right in the heart at the harbour of Makarska, with a great vibe. • I absolutely loved the vegetarian poke bowl. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. • The overall food concept is excellent: a creative mix that has something for everyone. • I really appreciated the vegetarian options on the menu. Adding just a few more would make it even better. • The venue itself is stylish and well-designed. Tables were tastefully decorated, adding to the experience. • The staff was very friendly and relaxed. Even though we were tourists, we never felt like we were being treated as “just another table.” It felt personal and welcoming. • For a trendy hotspot, it exceeded expectations—I’d definitely come back if I ever return to Makarska. • It was on the pricier side. You do pay for the quality and atmosphere, but it’s something to keep in mind.

Both the sushi and the pork ribs were delicious. Portions are big. One of our best meals in Croatia. Service was also good. The restaurant is located on the left side of the promenade which appeared quieter in Oct. However, it allows you to take pictures of the town & yielded beautiful photos of the palm trees in the setting sun.
SPmoochi C — Google review
Very disappointing experience. This restaurant is absolutely not vegetarian-friendly. I asked for a poke bowl without meat, and the waiter suggested tofu — but the tofu came covered in a barbecue-like glaze, clearly grilled on the same surface as meat. It was absolutely not vegetarian. This is unacceptable, especially after I clearly explained my dietary needs in advance. On top of that, the music was loud, annoying, and totally out of place. There were only two couples in the restaurant, and yet the waiter refused to lower the volume when asked politely. It made the atmosphere tense and uncomfortable. No effort to adapt, no care for customer comfort or dietary concerns. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all — especially if you’re vegetarian or just looking for a peaceful dinner. UPDATE in response to management to my review: I appreciate your reply, but I’d like to clarify a few points. I clearly explained my dietary needs when ordering and was told the tofu bowl would be a suitable vegetarian option. What I received was tofu coated in a glaze that looked, smelled, and tasted like a meat-based barbecue sauce. It also appeared seared or grilled in a way that raised doubts about how it was prepared. I even included a photo to avoid any misunderstanding. You mention that I should have raised the issue during the meal — but when I politely asked for the music to be lowered in an almost empty restaurant, that simple request was dismissed outright without explanation which i obviously accepted right away. That already made it clear my comfort wasn’t a priority, and it didn’t create an environment where I felt comfortable bringing up further concerns. Your response focuses more on defending the restaurant than on taking responsibility or showing understanding. Suggesting that my review is “exaggerated” or “venting,” and ending with “wishing you better experiences elsewhere,” only reinforces a lack of accountability. That’s not the tone of a place that values real feedback or guest experience. I stand by my review. It’s not written in anger — it’s meant to inform others who care about dietary transparency and a welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted kindly by the staff, but unfortunately, our needs were not truly heard. Nothing personal — just honest feedback.

Ohhhh lala, this place is craaaazy good! Amazing service – the staff is so friendly. The decoration is super sweet, and the food… I’m speechless. You know the food is truly delicious when you’re sitting at a table with ten people and the only thing you hear is the background music (great taste in music, by the way) because everyone is too busy being overwhelmed by the brilliant flavors. I had the brisket – can only recommend! If you’re in Marsaska, you have to come here.

We were a group of six and ordered three starters along with one main dish per person. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short of expectations. Here’s what went wrong: – We waited over an hour for our food. – We ordered three rib eye steaks (36€ each on the menu). One of them, shown in the photo, was meant to be medium rare. It arrived medium-well in the center and overcooked on the outside. More importantly, IT WASN’T EVEN A RIB EYE. As someone who’s had dozens, if not hundreds, of rib eyes, I can say this with confidence. When I brought this up with the waiter, he insisted it was a rib eye. Later, after I had finished eating, another staff member cleared the plate and asked if everything was okay. I repeated my concern, and he admitted that I was right - the rib eye was on the menu yesterday. What we had been served was simply “beef steak.” The menu, however, had not been updated, as you can see here in reviews. So lying to customers seems to be normal here.🙂 None of the steaks were cooked as requested - all came out well done, despite asking for medium. The tuna, which was supposed to be medium, was served extremely rare. Sadly, this experience was disappointing on multiple levels, and we won’t be returning.

Jež is a renowned restaurant in Makarska, located in the center of Makarska Riviera. The town is a top destination for international travel agencies and holidaymakers, offering a beautiful tourist environment. Jež is one of the famous restaurants in the area that prepares Dalmatian dishes using fresh domestic ingredients such as fish, meat, seafood, seasonal fruits, and vegetables from surrounding fields and the Neretva valley.
We wanted somewhere that the local people go, our guide had lived in Makarska for two years suggested that we eat here. Just up from the main waterfront. I asked for there most recommended meal, Fish with a salt crust, our fish was Bream. Takes 25mins, but it was worth waiting for, they gave us bread and dips, to eat while we waited. I ordered their local white wine, like a New Zealand Chardonnay. The ceremony releasing the fish from the salt crust was an event, and the way the fish was served very special. Service very attentive and always checked we were ok. The bill was fair for what we had.

I was skeptical, only intriguing thing were white tablecloth. However, my perception shifted dramatically due to the attentive service and exceptional quality of the food. The restaurant offered a selection of raw fish, and our choice, a beautifully cooked Red Snapper, was a delightful culinary experience. The ambiance is notably cozy and serene, providing a refreshing contrast to the bustling and noisy outdoor venues along the Makarska shoreline. This tranquil setting adds an extra star to the establishment. I highly recommend it for those seeking an escape from the hectic shoreside of Makarska to enjoy a meal with a touch of elegance.

Got the meat plate for two. Lamb and pork chops were very good, the seasoned beef patties were not to my liking and chicken brests were dry. The meal came with french fries which I think was inappropriate for this setting. Dessert was a very disappointing scoop of tiramisu flavoured whipped cream. They can do better. Especially with dessert.

Had one of the best dining experiences ever. From the starter, to main dish and wine everything is perfect. Recommadation of swiss chard risotto was so great - it blended perfectly with the grilled fish and the taste of it was simply amazing. Also, grilled fish was so fresh that you could smell the sea. Waiter and service overall was top notch. If you are looking for a fine dining experience this is no. 1 in Makarska. I would highly recommend.

A truly fantastic Mediterranean dining experience! Very friendly, experienced & helpful staff, delicious food and amazing wine. Waiter was very helpful with explaining the menu, and recommended some wines which were perfect for our dinner. Good value considering the quality (three fantastic courses each, plus good wine, for under £100 total) - the best place for a special occasion evening in Makarska.

Beach
Makarska Beach, situated in the picturesque coastal town of Makarska in Croatia, is a top attraction on the stunning Makarska Riviera. This 2-kilometer pebble beach offers visitors an ideal setting to bask in the sun and revel in the clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. Flanked by the impressive Biokovo Mountain, it provides a breathtaking backdrop for relaxation and leisure activities.
🏖️ Makarska Beach – The Adriatic’s Underrated Coastal Treasure ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) If you're searching for a beach that gives you crystal-clear water, mountain views, and peaceful energy all in one — Makarska Beach in Croatia is your dream come true. 🌊✨ Located right along the sparkling Dalmatian Coast, this beach blends natural charm with modern comfort, offering a complete coastal experience that’s both relaxing and Instagram-worthy. Despite not being as world-famous as beaches in Greece or Italy, Makarska’s shoreline easily competes — and in some ways, exceeds expectations. --- 🌊 Water & Shoreline The water at Makarska Beach is incredibly transparent — you can see straight to the bottom, even several meters deep. It ranges from emerald green to sapphire blue, changing shades as the sun shifts through the day. Unlike sandy beaches, this one is covered with smooth white pebbles, which might feel strange underfoot at first, but they help keep the water cleaner and less cloudy. Bring water shoes if you're sensitive, but most locals and regular travelers enjoy the pebbles as part of the authentic Dalmatian experience. 👣 The waves are calm, making it perfect for families with kids, older travelers, or anyone just wanting to float and relax. There are no dangerous drops, so you can wade in safely for several meters. --- 🏖️ Facilities & Comfort Makarska Beach is well-developed without feeling over-commercialized. You'll find: 🪑 Lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent (affordable daily rates) 🚿 Showers and changing cabins every few meters 🚽 Public restrooms that are reasonably clean 🧃 Kiosks and beach bars serving fresh juices, snacks, and local ice cream 🚑 Lifeguards are stationed during peak hours Everything is walkable and organized — the beach stretches long but never feels too packed. You’ll always find a spot whether you arrive early or late. --- 🧘 Vibe & Atmosphere One of the most magical things about this beach is the peaceful vibe it carries. It's not too loud, not overly touristic, and most people are here to chill, swim, sunbathe, or read a book. The only sounds you'll hear are waves, gentle music from beach cafés, and the distant laughter of children playing. 💆‍♂️🌞 And then there's the view — directly behind you rise the Biokovo mountains, creating a stunning contrast of blue water and jagged green cliffs. At sunset, the whole beach turns golden-orange, and the reflection on the water makes it feel like you're swimming in liquid light. 🌅 --- 📸 Photography & Content Tips If you're a content creator or aspiring Google Local Guide: Golden hour shots here will blow up your photo views 📈 A drone view captures the beach curve and mountain range — iconic! The water texture and boat shadows create perfect depth for vertical shots Pro tip: early morning (7–9 am) and pre-sunset (5–7 pm) give the best natural lighting without harsh glare. --- 🧃 Food & Local Vendors There are local stalls just off the beach path selling: Fresh cut fruits like watermelon and pineapple 🍉🍍 Dalmatian seafood snacks (small fried anchovies, calamari) 🐟 Homemade ice cream in Croatian flavors like fig and lavender 🍦 Nearby cafés offer espresso, cocktails, and light meals with shaded seating. One spot even lets you sip fresh lemonade with your feet in the sand! --- 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Ideal For: Families with kids (safe, calm water) Couples (romantic, clean, peaceful) Solo travelers (friendly, relaxed) Elderly tourists (easy access, seats, soft vibe) --- 📍 Final Verdict Makarska Beach isn’t just a place to swim — it’s a multi-sensory escape. It combines the feel of a quiet cove with the convenience of a developed promenade. The combination of crystal water, white stone coast, green pine trees, and majestic cliffs makes it one of the best-kept secrets of the Adriatic. ✅ If you’re traveling through Croatia and want one beach that gives you everything — come to Makarska. Stay for the view. Swim for the soul. --- Let me know if you'd like a similar in-depth review for: 🏰 Stirling Castl

Makarska Beach stretches for a long distance, offering crystal-clear water, smooth pebbles, and a lively promenade lined with cafés and shops. Perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and soaking in the vibrant coastal atmosphere.

Immaculate place, beautiful sea views, this is place where you can relax. From the 1st of June you have to pay for beach deck chairs, till this time it was free! In May water is a bit cold yet. Also you have to wear special shoes if swimming in order not to hurt you feet. Toilets are somewhere on the coast line, but cabins are usually closed. You have to ask keys in bar of cafe nearby and give it back. I didn’t find any open showers, either paid or free Along the beach coast there are a lot of cafe and restaurants. Portions are usually big. Be ready to spend not less then 10€ per person for a light meal, and 20€ per person for substantial. Or Even more, depends on the restaurant and type of meals You can also rent a bicycle there or another electric transport

Great Beach for Fun and Convenience! Makarska Beach is a fantastic spot with a lively atmosphere and plenty to do. The long stretch of pebbly shore is great for sunbathing, and the clear, blue water is perfect for a refreshing swim. What really makes this beach stand out is how well-equipped it is. You can easily rent sunbeds and umbrellas, and there are lots of cafes, restaurants, and snack bars right along the promenade, so you never have to go far for a drink or a bite to eat. It's a very family-friendly beach, and the shade from the pine trees behind the beach is a huge bonus on a hot day. It can get busy, but the energy is great and there's a lot of space. If you're looking for a beach that has everything you need for a fun, easy-going day, this is the one!
Valentino S — Google review
Lovely beach, nice with the trees hanging over and give you some shade too, it has alot of pebbles so we bought beach footwear for going in the water and beach mat so we wouldn't need to pay for sun loungers. Very scenic place.

Nice landscape but the beach is badly maintained… trash bins are not common for this place, you need to walk 100-150 mt to find one, on top around noon they are already full, so as a result people are throwing trash where they sit.. or just make mountains of trash next to the bins.. showers are not for free (1€/30 sec), toilets as well 2€, so you can imagine people do their needs right into the water, as a result a lot of cases of rotovirus amongst tourists.. lots of bakeries and local serving food but only for cash, no card/applepay, feels like you’re back to 1990s.. waiters are quite irritative and really welcoming people with sever faces :) we went there as it was 4.5stars but didn’t get for what they got such high rating.. May be it was a good place 10 years ago but not in 2024.. try to find something better.. places are occupied by people at 6:00 so when you come around 9:00 you see not many people but all beach is “reserved” with towels ..

Starting with the highest rated eatery in Makarska, we have Restaurant Riva. Garnering an impressive 900 reviews, it stands as a top choice among diners. Following closely behind is Hrpina restaurant, which has amassed over 1500 reviews. The cuisine at Restaurant Riva is nothing short of amazing. Patrons rave about their angler carpaccio, served with an assortment of about 15 pieces and paired with two locally produced olive oils from Croatia.
I had the pleasure of dining at this remarkable restaurant, and I must say—everything about the experience was top-notch. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, attentive service that set the tone for the evening. Our waiter Dragan was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely cared about making our visit special. The food was nothing short of outstanding. Every dish we tried was expertly prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. You can tell the chefs use high-quality ingredients and put thought into every element of the menu. The atmosphere was another highlight—elegant yet cozy, with tasteful decor and just the right lighting to make the space feel both intimate and vibrant. Whether you're on a date, with family, or out with friends, it's the kind of place that elevates the occasion. Despite the high quality of both service and cuisine, the prices were surprisingly reasonable. It’s rare to find a spot that delivers such a complete dining experience without breaking the bank. Highly recommended—I’ll definitely be returning soon!

Fantastic seafood restaurant in Makarska! We ordered the house fish platter, which came with a generous and tasty selection of freshly grilled and perfectly cooked fish – everything was flavorful and well-seasoned. The mussels we had as a starter were some of the best we’ve tried: fresh, tender, and full of flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout the meal, which really made us feel welcome. The outdoor terrace is charming, with a relaxing vibe and a lovely view – a perfect setting to enjoy a great meal. Highly recommended for seafood lovers!

Wonderful experience! We had an absolutely amazing evening – we ordered the tomahawk steak, which exceeded all our expectations in both taste and presentation. We were served by Milan, who is truly one of the few remaining professionals in this line of work. His attention to detail, warm hospitality, and genuine passion for what he does made us feel truly special and welcome. Thanks to him, the entire evening was flawless from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone looking for top-quality food and exceptional service!

Restaurant Riva, Magaskar – A Tasteful Oasis by the Water Guests shouldn’t feel ashamed for choosing not to leave a tip. If the alternative is not visiting at all, it’s the restaurant that ultimately misses out. A beautiful restaurant with a fantastic location by the water. The food was fresh and well-prepared – the fish dishes in particular were excellent. Lovely atmosphere, stylish decor, and overall good service. Unfortunately, one incident affected our overall impression: when it was time to pay, we felt pressured by the waiter to leave a tip, even though we had already planned to do so. After we left, we were told that a staff member had said in Croatian, “Everything was good but no tip?” – followed by a swear word. That felt uncomfortable and disappointing. To be clear, this was not the chef’s or owner’s fault – the food and setting are top-notch. Hopefully, this was just a one-off situation, because otherwise Riva is a wonderful restaurant I would gladly return to ZazaPress "P.S. We made some changes to the review."

My boyfriend and I didn’t have reservations at all but the person in charge, a very kind gent, sat us at a beautiful table even though it was packed in the restaurant. We definitely got lucky - I highly recommend making a reservation on a busy evening - but it was high season so perhaps not too hard later on in the season. But to add to the lovely intro, our server and food was incredible. We had the seafood platter and it was way too much for 2 people but so worth it! Thank you team of Riva!

On the last evening of our holiday my husband and I went for dinner at Riva. Our first impression was positive. We got a table for 2 and very soon our water and the menu came. The menu is wide varied; so for me who doesn’t eat fish, the meat options were welcome. I tried the beef in mushroom sauce (well done) with puffed patato and creme and extra salad. The plate with our dinner looked like a little masterpiece. The beef was half well done, the thicker side was still red. But I ate the beef and I liked it very much. My husband was very happy because I ate for the first time beef. I am very picky when it comes to meat. So that was an extra point! Point of interest: -We told the waiter I don’t eat fish. Unfortunately the starter was made of fish. -Due to rush the waiter forgot our salad. I would recommend this place for people who want a fancy dinner.

Do yourself a favor when visiting Makarska Riviera and make sure you visit Riva restaurant. The place is amazing. Great vibes, amazing food and the service is top-notch. Our server was Milan and he did an excellent job.

We are usually the kind of tourists who try a different restaurant every day. But Riva actually managed to get us to eat there twice. If you’re in Makarska, trust me – you absolutely have to treat yourself to this restaurant!!

Hops! Beer & Food Factory is a craft beer brewery located in the heart of Makarska. It offers a great selection of local craft beers, including IPA and stout, along with delicious pizzas and burgers. The prices are reasonable, making it the cheapest option on the Makarska front for beer. The atmosphere is lively with lovely views of Makarska marina, and there's plenty of space to sit and enjoy your meal.
Amazing craft beer and delicious food! Hops is hands down one of the best places in Makarska! They brew their own craft beer, which is super tasty and pairs perfectly with their food. I’ve tried all the burgers from the menu — each one was absolutely delicious! The pizza is also amazing, and the fries… wow — super crispy and full of flavor. Their sauces are great too. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality food and drinks in a cozy, welcoming place.

The burgers weren’t bad, but I’ve had better. They had plenty of ingredients and good sauces, but the meat was overcooked, making it too dry and difficult to eat. A tip for the future – ask customers how they would like their meat cooked. The service was very kind and efficient. The place offers good craft beer. On top of that, the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, with views of the old town, port, and sea. Overall, I recommend it.

Great food, beer and service, with a nice view! The veal cutlet was perfect. Possibly the best I ever had! Just the right tenderness and slightly crispy exterior. The chicken stew was great as well! Pretty quick service with a nice view, though we did come in October when it’s less busy.

Me and my boyfriend give this a try as it was close to our hotel in makarska and I’m so glad we did we did. We were that happy with the service and food we even returned back on the last afternoon before our flight home for pizza and drinks. The wagyu burger we had was one of the best burgers we’ve eaten, the place looks lovely in the evening all lit up. Definitely give it a try if you travel or stay in makarska. 5*

Craft beer spot — a must-visit for any fan of good brews. Perfect location right by the port with awesome views, sitting right on the promenade. Super friendly waiter offered us a free tasting of a few beer options before we decided. I went for a pilsner and an IPA — both were solid. On a hot day, this place is an absolute oasis for beer lovers. Plenty of outdoor seating, with three types of tables — high tops, low ones, and regular dining setups. The food menu’s pretty solid too. Definitely worth a stop.

Our burgers (the dragon burger, I think) were absolutely amazing. They were not too spicy even with the peppers on them. They also had an amazing dip that came with the chicken wings, I used it for my fries and loved it. Our waiter was nice and helpful. It was a hot day, but their patio has shade.
Suzanne S — Google review
Great place to visit when in Makarska. They serve home crafted beer and have good choice on what to eat. I wanted to have barbecue ribs but they were out of it so I took barbecue wings instead. They're served with crispy wedges and creamy sauce, which was too heavy for my taste but it was good. The staff was fast and friendly and gave some good tips. I tried home crafted beer Summer and APA and they were both good. The place looks nice and has enogh space for lot pf people, whith green theme and plenty od plants. I would definitely visit again and hope to get to try the ribs 😊

Beautiful location facing the Markarska Riviera Marina. As an American, I know what makes a burger good … and let me tell you, the beef burger here is amazing! It was juicy, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection. It came with fries, which were perfectly crispy. There was a delicious sauce on the burger that gave it a nice zing. I enjoyed the burger so much, that I visited Hops 3x during my trip (twice for burgers, once for coffee). On all three visits, the service was wonderful (Gabriel 2x, Branco 1x), and both gentlemen were very welcoming and fluent in English. The beer was cold and the prices are very reasonable.

Specialty Museums
Located within the Franciscan monastery of St. Mary, the Malacological Museum is a fascinating attraction founded by scientist and monk Friar Jure Radic in 1963. The museum boasts an impressive collection of over 3,000 seashell specimens from the Adriatic and around the world, making it Croatia's most renowned malacological collection.
I have been coming to this little pearl of a museum for years since I have been a child and it never fails to charm me and make me wish mermaids are real and I can grow a tail. It is a bit raw and not particularly polished but I feel that is part of its charm. It obviously was a labor of love. And the little courtyard where the museum is set is just so pretty, just wished it is used a bit differently.
Ivona A — Google review
I've recently paid a visit to this place as I had been told multiple times of an impressive collection of fossils and shells coming from multifarious countries of their provenance which I could find in this museum. I came there to see these for myself and as a matter of fact the collection surpassed my expectations due to the impressive sizes of particular pieces of fossils and their huge array. Sightseeing lasted about 30 minutes and the price for an admission ticket was quite reasonable. But if you're a student or a child, you are entitled for a reduced ticket, which compared to the standard one costs way less so it pays off to make sure to bring student id cards. Another thing about the Malacological Museum in Malarska is that even if you don't speak Croatian the staff will willingly tell you about the exhibition in English to make your visit worthwhile.
Kamil P — Google review
Beautiful little shell museum, good varied collection. You can see everything quickly in 20 minutes or take your time appreciating maybe up to an hour. Cash only, adult I think €4/5. Can’t buy in advance, no need to, no wait. Worth a visit if you like shells or are artistic or have a bit of spare time :)
Olivia J — Google review
Very interesting place to visit and specially with kids. Would highly recommend it. There is a great variety of shells from around the world, impressive exhibit of corals, and some big turtle shells. We enjoyed touching a giant clam. It vas refreshing, felt like a marble. Glad we visited. I would say it's informative just about enough to digest when visiting.
Dubravka S — Google review
During our visit to Makarska, we discovered the Malacological Museum — and it was a true highlight! My daughter and I both love collecting sea shells, so this place felt magical. 🐚 The collection is stunning — so many rare and beautiful shells from around the world, all thoughtfully displayed in a small but charming space. If you’re in Makarska and love nature or sea life, don’t miss it. A real hidden gem! 💙
Zsuzsanna K — Google review
An amazing collection of shells in an old monastery, it made for a nice, calming break out of a busy day. It’s a good experience for the price (€4 per adult).
Edward M — Google review
A beautiful, beautiful collection of sea shells by the sea shore! Both my wife and I loved it so much. If you're ever near Makarska, you have to come see this collection of more than 3000 shells from all over the world - they are mesmerizing! All the museum lacks is a gift shop, because I would love to take some of them home with me! The displays inside are impeccable, but one small remark for the staff: clean up a little bit the ones that are outside in the courtyard (does not hurt the experience, though). We'll be back there soon, I hope.
Branimir F — Google review
The Malacological Museum is a hidden gem that survived against all odds. Tucked inside the Franciscan Monastery in Makarska, it was founded in 1963 by Dr. Fra Jure Radić, a friar and scientist who started collecting shells in the days of Yugoslavia. Coming from a modest background, he built something extraordinary through passion and persistence. What began as one man’s fascination has grown into a dazzling display of more than 3,000 seashells, corals, and marine wonders from the Adriatic and far beyond. Walking through its quiet halls feels like stepping into both a natural treasure chest and a story of human resilience. Radić’s legacy is a reminder that curiosity and dedication can turn even the smallest objects – seashells – into history worth preserving.

Located in the heart of old-town Makarska, Cathedral of St. Mark is a 17th-century church that stands as a prominent landmark in the main square. The picturesque setting offers a fantastic backdrop for capturing timeless photos. The church's beautiful exterior and historical significance make it a must-visit for tourists exploring the area. Surrounded by restaurants, cafes, souvenir stores, and fruit markets, the square also features a charming fountain.
The signboard out front said this used to be a cathedral until 1969. It is very beautiful, not like other Roman Catholic churches where every square inch is covered in art. It was quiet and peaceful. It is surprisingly large as from the outside, it looks rather small.
David L — Google review
Picturesque landmark. Wished we could have spent more time here exploring Makarska. A very pleasant & less touristy port town.
Pei — Google review
The whole setting of the cathedral is dramatic and nobel at the same time: held in between the sea and the Biokovo mountains it offers the possibility to ritually ascend to the entrance in preparation. It’s flanked by restaurants and high end shops and the whole place gifts you with uplifting, opening energy. We passed through here several times and always enjoyed it.
Chiaradina C — Google review
The church formes the cultural heart of not just the city of Makarska but the hole region. One of the oldest structures of the riviera. In having the largest square in the city there is allso a lot of activity, concerts etc in the evening.

Nice place, amazing atmosphere due to big mountains behind the cathedral.
Martina Š — Google review
The Cathedral of St. Mark is a quiet masterpiece of stone and light. Its baroque facade draws you in, but it’s the calm, reverent interior that stays with you. Step outside and you're greeted with a breathtaking contrast – ancient steps beneath your feet, soaring mountain peaks behind you, and a horizon that melts into the sea. A place that makes you slow down, look up, and breathe a little deeper.
Holiday F — Google review
Picture postcard church in the heart of old-town Makarska, sitting atop a popular town square, or Trg, with the most dramatic backdrop one could imagine. The Biokovo mountain range dominates the skyline behind Makarska reaching over 1400 metres and it was impossible to stop admiring it during my stay. Many restaurants, cafés, souvenir stores and a fruit markets adjoin the square.

Most amazing dinner, with outstanding view on the mountains around Makarska, the crew was open, warm hearted. It shows that they are doing it from the bottom of their heart. The food was just the single best meal we had around! I would recommend the chefs choice, and I will definetly go again. ( I hope I didnt offend them with my tip after leaving)

We arrived with a group of 10 people and were met with fantastic service. Our waitress was great at recommending dishes that suited us. The food was fantastic, and we agreed it was the best meal so far in Croatia. We can recommend the carpaccio, as it was probably one of the best dishes I've ever had. Couldn't be happier. Thank you for providing good service and food 😊

Pizza restaurant
Centrum is a popular spot located in the heart of Riva, offering delicious pizzas and a charming atmosphere. It's a great place for tourists to enjoy premier league matches while savoring decent meals. The restaurant provides good service and tasty food, making it an ideal choice for families. Although some dishes may be a bit pricey, the overall experience is enjoyable with polite staff and satisfying options like ham pizza and cevapi.
Great views, the outdoor seating is on a platform so you can see over the cars better than the neighboring restaurants. The Sea Bream fish was excellent, tender and no fishy taste or smell. It was brought out while and filleted tableside.
Rafi A — Google review
The food was good but I didn't like the service. House wine is priced 2.50 € in the menu, but that's per half a serving, about which you're not informed beforehand. Two glasses per person for a couple totalled 20 €. The waiters (two of them for extra effect I guess) tried to appear intimidating while explaining why there is 8x wine on the bill. Ended up paying more for the drinks than for food. That reeks of a tourist trap.
Sebastian M — Google review
The place made us wait a long time before we could order. The drinks took forever. The food was tasteless. The waiter rolled their eyes when we asked to pay separately. They even had the nerve to complain that we didn’t leave a tip, even though the service was terrible. We didn’t expect much, but we got nothing.
Kristian J — Google review
Lovely meal, but let down by the €15 price tag for a glass of prosecco. I had 2! Should have looked at the menu. €15 for a lovely main, €30 for 2 glasses of bubbles. Left a sour taste. Went 20 minutes down the coast and paid €3 for a glass. I know you pay a price for a front-line restaurant, but honestly ... I've learnt my lesson!!
Beth O — Google review
We bought some groceries before going to the restaurant. When I asked for a table, the bald waiter told me that we couldn’t enter the restaurant with food. I told him that it was our breakfast and we obviously weren’t planning to eat any of it at the restaurant. He became extremely aggressive and told me to get out of the restaurant. He got right up in my face as if he was planning to assault me. No idea what caused him to react this way, but this is unacceptable. Horrible service, would not recommend.

We ordered 2 picas. Prices were reasonable. But the service was really cringe. The waiter kept pacing behind us the whole time. And when was finished eating we waiting like 15min before I got frustrated and asked for the check.

Fast Food&Tobacco Shop ToGo is an ideal location that saves valuable time and caters to even the most discerning gastronomes. The service is prompt, and the cuisine is delectable, all while managing to keep rising prices in check. Adjacent to the fast food establishment lies a tobacco store that offers a comprehensive selection of smoking products. Visitors can expect courteous staff members who can assist them in obtaining Cuban cigars or other cigarette-related items.
Delicious chicken kebab so many flavours and lots of salad. Huge portions it was enough for two meals! The lady working was so nice and welcoming. Highly recommend for a quick bite to eat!

The food is not as good as on the photos and review suggests and the service is bad. The girl was inpatient when I wanted to order, and after I order she made fun of me with the other coworker of hers and made me unconfortable. For sure I will never return there and i do not recommend it to anybody.

Different price on menu vs. at the counter. When I asked why is it so, I was told one is old the oter is new and asked if it is a problem. Make your own opinion. Food was good, but I cannot understand why all the places in Makarska don’t accept card payments. Who knows, but overall, I would not recommend the place.

Restaurant
Sunshine, located in Makarska, stands out among the numerous restaurants available. It offers a pleasant dining experience with competitive prices and ample servings of mussels, which are particularly notable. The grilled squid and fried calamari are also highly recommended for their exceptional quality. This establishment provides great value for money due to its generous portions. However, it is advisable to avoid the lamb chop as it seems to be lacking in taste according to the waiter's explanation in broken English.
An excellent restaurant in the center of Makarska Riviere. The staff was very nice, responded quickly and the operator, it was nice here.

Three years ago, we were in Croatia And we accidentally found this bar right away. We really liked it, and since then, every time we come to Croatia for vacation, we visit this place. The service is excellent. The main thing is the cuisine, which is simply wonderful, the best restaurant in Makarska, and probably in all of Croatia. The waiter who always serves us (we're sure you'll recognize him from the photo) A big thank you to you, you are a master of your craft!

Amazing restaurant with excellent food – every dish was full of flavor and clearly made with care. But what truly made the evening exceptional was Ramatuella, our waiter. An absolute 12/10 – incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. He made us feel genuinely cared for from the moment we arrived. A true gem and a big reason we’d love to come back. Highly recommend!

An okay restaurant near both the marina and the beach. Prices are reasonable for the area, although food is not great, not terrible. The vegetarian lasagne was actually pretty good, but the vegetable soup seemed it was made with instant soup and a few frozen vegetables. Staff is friendly and attentive, and although they are hard working, it seems they struggle a bit handling the restaurant at peak hours, maybe understaffed? The oil and vinegar bottles on our tables could have been cleaner.
Antoniu G — Google review
Pizza was good, but a bit dry. Service too fast to recognise followup of order. Beer was obviously from the bottle and not drafted. Restaurant is a bit cheaper than others.

Quite a nice gem in Makarska amongst so many restaurants to choose from. To start I think it has one of the best prices for mussels on the whole strip with a very generous portion. They were delicious. Other things we ordered were the grilled squid and fried calamari. Both were excellent. Overall it's a great value to portion restaurant and I would recommend it. Stay away from the lamb chop, apparently it's not good. Tried ordering it and the waiter told us in broken english that everything else on the menu is good except for that. Also the side bread we got was absolutely delicious. It comes warm and man it was so good.
Leo A — Google review
Reasonable prices for seafood dishes compared to other restaurants on the strip - we walked the whole strip and did our research.... Ordered mussels, fried calamari and grilled squid, and the fresh baked bread was a nice warm touch. If you are looking for a nice filling, cheap meal for 2, this place is for you!
