Shopping mall
Shopping
Merry Hill is a large shopping center located between Harrow and Watford, just 15 miles from central London. Despite its proximity to the city, it is nestled in a rural and wooded landscape, making it popular with local residents. The shopping center features over 250 stores including well-known brands like Argos, Boots, Debenhams, Clarks, Topshop and Marks & Spencer.
Visited today for the first time in 12 years, and it was better than I remember. Lots of free parking spaces, lots of great stores and eateries, particularly in the Eat Central food court. Looked and smelt nice and clean. I'll definitely be visiting more often.
Dal — Google review
Really big place with loads of great stores and a huge world foods restaurant area. The only downside for me as a disabled person was the lack of working lifts. It meant a lot of people with wheelchairs or mobility aids had to walk the extra distance and wait in line just to get to a different floor. It could also benefit from more maps showing the store layouts as it's easy to get lost in there! It's definitely worth a visit, though.
Caroline M — Google review
I have been shopping at Merry Hill quite literally since it first opened and it’s always a great place to shop. There are plenty of restaurants and food outlets not to mention the recently added bowling alley so there is plenty to keep you busy and make the visit fun. There is plenty of free parking and most of the big name stores you would expect all indoor to keep you dry on those wet and windy days.
Phil S — Google review
Located very close to Dudley this is a large shopping complex with plenty of free parking. There are many clothes stores and coffee shops and plenty of places to eat. There is even now a bowling alley with a number of good eateries next door. If you fancy the 'bargain' option just go to the on site Wetherspoons. Everything on one site including an Odeon cinema.
Andrew W — Google review
Hey guys. Just visited again and this time I was presented with a sterling member of security staff called Bill. He was absolutely lovely and very helpful. I can't recommend this guy's worth enough. Merry hill management.....take note. This guy should be running the whole security outfit. I'm blessed to be in and around a shopping mall that had dedicated, friendly and helpful staff. Well done and keep up the good work.x
Dinesh P — Google review
An awesome place to visit when you have shopping in mind!!!!🐣
Striding C — Google review
Merry Hill Shopping Centre is a large indoor shopping destination offering a wide range of high street and everyday brands and stores. It's family friendly, has buggies available for young children, and features a very large Eat Central with numerous eateries and restaurants. The centre offers a large, free car park, but be prepared for it to be very packed on weekends and holidays. Entertainment options include a Hollywood bowl in the facility an Odeon cinema nearby, along with many restaurants and supermarkets in close proximity. While Merry Hill is a good okish for general shopping needs, it may not be the best place for luxury or designer clothing. However, for everyday items, dining, clothing, home and entertainment, it provides a pleasant and convenient place for visitors of all ages.
Indi — Google review
Massive shopping mall WITH ALL THE traditional mall shops and eateries. Very popular with families. Probably has something for everyone..plus many other large stores outside (T.K.MAX. B&M. PLUS OTHERS)and a wetherspoons 🥳. Massive carpark with dedicated spaces for disabled. People with small children. Electric vehicle charging. Absolutely fabulous area.

Katie Fitzgerald's is a pub that offers nightly live performances of rock, folk, and blues music, as well as open-mic nights. It also serves real ales. The venue is described as superb and unique, with a chilled out garden entrance. Visitors enjoy watching comedy shows here instead of large arenas due to its quirky and intimate atmosphere. Some suggest that the club could benefit from hosting bigger or independent bands in addition to its existing lineup.
BRILLIANT VENUE!!! We had an amazing evening watching the sensational Dizzy Lizzy. Wonderful staff, great drinks and free mince pies!

One of the friendliest and intimate gig venues I’ve ever been to. Had a great night watching The Circles on their official Anthology LP launch night.

Great venue for music, lovely secret garden and a friendly crowd
Dawn S — Google review
Great live music venue now accessed via Mable Road. Welcoming environment and hosts, definitely worth a visit but book tickets to the event in advance to save disappointment.

What a superb comedy club and such a great way to spend the afternoon watching comedy. Needed that. No problems parking on the street and loved the entrance into the chilled out garden. So much better to watch comedy here rather than a soulless arena. Quirky and unique. Look forward to returning in the near future.

Leisure center

Sports Complexes
Crystal Leisure Centre, located within the Stourbridge Ring Road, has been a popular destination for locals for generations. The main attraction is its large swimming baths featuring slides and rapids, but there are also other activities available. Stourbridge itself is a town that has flourished over time and offers both modern and picturesque rural areas.
For the second time a member of the front desk has spoke to me with attitude, she looks like shes in fancy dress for Halloween and has lost her broomstick, there opening times are different to what they advertise on google, all i said was the company needs to update the google time, as its misleading people, and with a filthy look, just look on our website ok ! Was the reply. The pool staff etc are always polite and friendly, the sides of the pools especially by the jacuzzi area need cleaning and the changing room areas need cleaning, good fun though
Dannyt E — Google review
Crystal leisure centre was alright. There were the occasional waves in the pool and a cool slide. There were two slides in total and the one that was higher up wasn't the best experience. It was supposed to be a flume water ride with clear parts where you could see the outside through a glass window while riding the slide but yet nothing was visible at all because it was very dirty! It was a good experience but might try something different next time thanks.
Ziyad M — Google review
Firstly, £21 for myself a 5 year old and a 10 year old is ridiculous for just over an hours swimming. The changing rooms are disgraceful, a lot of the doors don’t have locks and the whole place stinks of piss! We come pretty much every week but it’s getting worse as the weeks go on…. and to top it all off both of my kids feet were cut and bleeding when we got into the minuscule cubicle.
Benjamin S — Google review
We all had a great time loved the slides waves and the rapids. Only downside and reason for the 3 stars is because one hour isn’t enough otherwise wud have gave a five star! By the time kids have really got knees deep into the fun it’s time to get out again which is a real shame ! Place seemed clean enough wouldn’t complain
Ch90 E — Google review
Whilst the rapids and slides were great it’s very run down. Broken tiles, patched together! Don’t look at the ledges under the slide-I don’t think it’s ever been cleaned! Plasters galore and a mucky build up of slimy dirt! Even rizzlers Enough to turn your stomach! 🤮
Lydia W — Google review
While the kids had a great time I was disgusted how dirty the tiles were around the pool not only were they black with a build up of scum, the tiles were also full of chewing gum I know the six weeks holidays are here and the place will be really busy but surely when the leisure pool closes could a team not clean the tiles. Also the floor in and around the jacuzzi area needs looking at. While I hope for your continued success please tidy your act up. We paid enough to get in.
Ann C — Google review
Lifeguards need a reality check I don’t know what makes them think they can speak to the member of the public the way they do. One lady in particular has the rudest attitude. They also don’t like it when they’ve been brought up on the way they talk to people. Because I won’t allow someone to speak to me or my family like that. From someone who used to come every other weekend as a kid to then bringing my own child for the first time you’ve most definitely taken that experience away from us. Definitely won’t be coming back again.
Nicole H — Google review
Traveled over from Worcestershire as my son has been asking to go to The Crystal Leisure Centre for ages. If you Google ‘Crystal Leisure Centre’ is clearly states 6am-10pm for the opening times. We have come over on a Tuesday. We arrived at 2.15pm only to be told along with another family in the queue that the Crystal Leisure Centre closes at 2.30pm and reopens at 5pm. I informed staff that on Google it says open! Only to be told - you have to go into the website, find the centre you are looking for, then find school opening times etc etc. even the staff admitted it is confusing. Misleading, incorrect and confusing is what I would call it. Staff even told me that I should have rang before coming over! Why? Google should be up to date and correct! So I ended up with an upset son, a waste of a long journey and a waste of time! Dudley Leisure really need to sort their act out and clearly document the correct opening times on Google as people rely on this. It’s hard enough juggling work with the school holidays without being let down due to incorrect information.

The park offers a wide range of amenities, including a pond, water play feature, outdoor gym, tennis courts, and various sports areas.
Lovely place to walk round and see some wonderful wildlife ! They have muscovy ducks there and we even saw a buzzard !! Good sturdy paths with little mud. Theres a wonderful cafe there that serves lovely hot drinks, cakes and warm food with very lovely staff !

It's such a lovely, clean and well maintained park with a lot of facilities. There is a massive pond with lots of birds, a big children's playground, crown green bowling, tennis courts, a cafe, toilet facilities, and lots of pathways that are nice and easy to walk on. Very good disabled access. Also, there is plenty of parking and very close bus stops. The trees here are absolutely beautiful, stunning to see and walk through. Well worth a visit at any time of year.
Caroline M — Google review
Lovely park, took my mother in law round on her mobility scooter for a blow of air as she's still trying g to get used to it. Some Lovely birds around the pond to look at and feed. The actual park is very well kept and I found it to be very clean. Good play area for little kids and basketball courts and lots of grass for elder kids to play on and ride their bikes. And, to top it off, a lovely ice cream van to finish the walk off, lovely.
Phil R — Google review
Excellent and lovely park and always busy with parents and children for the play area. Also has a coffee lounge and bowling green. Often frequented by Pokemon Go players.

One of my favourite places in Birmingham. The atmosphere reminds me the old good times. Time for a tea and relax feeding the birds. Lovely coffee shop, try the coconut dark, my wife’s favourite

Mary Stevens Park in Stourbridge is a really lovely place to visit. The lake is great for a peaceful walk, and it’s always nice to stop and feed the ducks. The play area is excellent for children, and there are plenty of open spaces that are perfect for games and family activities. There’s also a café on site, which is ideal for a quick snack or drink, and the free parking makes visiting really convenient.

I come daily to walk my dogs, well kept park always neat and litter free ( unless tramps have frequented area ) great circuit to walk around field and pond. The cafe serves amazing food, cakes and coffee. Quintessential Britishness.

Cafe Express is a delightful regional counter-serve chain that specializes in an array of fresh salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes. The ambiance is charming, adorned with antiques and beautiful artwork that create a cozy atmosphere perfect for dining. The staff at Cafe Express are known for their warmth and friendliness, always eager to assist guests. The menu boasts generous portions at reasonable prices, catering well to both vegetarians and vegans alike.
Oh my gosh this is such a lovely place to eat. The decor is brilliant with the antiques and gorgeous art work, etc. It's so cosy and comfortable inside. The staff are fantastic, always kind, friendly and welcoming and happy to help. The food is top class, very tasty with generous portions that are not overpriced. They have lots of vegetarian and vegan options too. I had a baked potato with feta and caramelised onion today and it was a huge serving!! 😋 The oat milk chai latte was delicious too!! They do lots of dishes, including cooked breakfast, soups, panini, wraps, toasties, sandwiches, toast with various topping, and cakes. Honestly you don't leave feeling hungry. I can't recommend this cafe highly enough. It's an absolute gem in the middle of Stourbridge 😍

Best coffee anywhere. Food is great and all at reasonable prices compared to the usual big chain cafes. Staff are very friendly and eager to please. Great atmosphere, dog and child friendly.
Bob S — Google review
We loved our meals: I had the full Monty English breakfast, wife had eggs Benny and kids had buttermilk pancakes. Get value and loved the decor!
Shane B — Google review
Popped in on the way through to visit family - as a vegetarian I often struggle to find food with protein but they offered Quorn and Plant Meatballs! I had “meat”ball panini (with real cheese because I’m only vegetarian) and it was great - fresh, hot and super tasty with a nice spicy tangy sauce and a big side salad! The pork sandwich had by my partner was also brilliant and really tasty and packed with pork! Staff were really helpful and friendly and the latte was also really good! Great experience and will be back again!
Peter T — Google review
Wonderful staff, service and food with many options that cater for all! Baby friendly and now a regular on a Friday with me and the Mrs for lunch! Definitely recommend the full Monty breakfast and the Cuban panini!

Great fish and chips have been going for over 10 yrs won loads of awards I won't eat anywhere else locally. Only 1 thing I'd change it needs a make over other than that just great.
Steve P — Google review
Wife's gluten free fish was beautiful would have given 5 stars if staff had been more pleasant have been since and staff very pleasant and helpful now given 5 stars must have been a bad day
Neil S — Google review
Great food, terrible service. The food is always cooked to perfection & absolutely delicious, the best Fish & Chips around. However, the blonde scrawny server, is sloppy & lets the food down. She didn't ask me if I wanted salt & vinegar & poured salt all over my food, when I can't eat salt. She said, well you'll have to wait 6 minutes! (So the alternative was to eat the salty food). She then left my curry sauce on the side getting cold while I waited & went to put in the bag when she'd done my food. I had to tell her to put me a fresh one up. She did so, slopping it all over the side, wrapping it up & putting it in the bag upside down! 🙄 As I turned it the right way up, she said its OK, the lid is on! I ordered 3 lots of chicken nuggets for 3 kids, she piled all of the nuggets into one box!! She's very sloppy.
Tina F — Google review
Great food. Chips are better than anywhere around, fish is always top quality and way bigger than you get elsewhere. Kebabs are far better than any other chip shop I've been to, salad is always fresh and the kebab meat is better quality and not greasy like most places. Portion sizes in general are very good.
Adam S — Google review
At Merchants you are definitely going to get a very good meal - guaranteed! They are multiple award winners in their category. I have been using this place for many years, even from their first opening & I've never had anything to complain about, with the food & they keep the place spotlessly clean.
Deborah T — Google review
I have yet to try the fish, but I can speak of the donner and I will say its solid. Went large and it did the job, the meat is up there and was pleased to see some chunky cuts in there (its what the fans want). The chips are of a good standard, only feedback would be on the curry sauce, nice enough but wasn't blown away

Restaurant
Lockside Steakhouse is a charming eatery that invites you to indulge in a delightful array of steaks, refreshing cocktails, and an enticing bottomless brunch. Nestled within its cozy brick-walled dining area, the atmosphere is both inviting and relaxed. Diners rave about the superb quality of food; from beautifully cooked rump steak to a trio of meats for Sunday lunch accompanied by perfectly prepared vegetables, every dish seems crafted with care.
All I can say is WOW The food is out of this world, we had the scotch egg starter which was so full of flavour, it was lovely, then I had the rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth, my wife had the chic chicken which she said was lovely also, the service was superb and all the staff where really nice. Unfortunately when I rang shortly after leaving to try and book a table for Sunday lunch for us and our daughter and son in law you where fully booked at the time we needed due to family travelling home. Just to let people know, I booked our break away in Birmingham solely because I wanted to come and eat at the lockside as I follow Matt and lockside on Facebook. Such a shame we could not share our experience with our family, before we head back to norfolk
Kevin B — Google review
First visit to Lockside and we was not disappointed at all. The food was absolutely superb. Partner had the rump and was absolutely beautiful it wasn’t cooked to his specifications but that was a minor issue with the kitchen BUT it did not stop him eating it and enjoying it that much the plate was cleared. I had Sunday lunch trio of meats and it was beautiful veg cooked perfectly and plenty of veg to accompany the plate. Been a long long time since we have enjoyed food to that standard. The service was amazing all the staff were fab and soooooo friendly was a breath of fresh air. I have lowered the atmosphere stars and this is not locksides fault but a BIG AND LOUD table arrive shortly after us and when I say loud they could have drowned out a nightclub DJ - could we have said something to the staff, yes but where would it have gotten us no where that’s up to individuals to have a little bit of self restraint however, it did not reflect poorly on the staff or the restaurant. The puddings were literally heaven !!! We will definitely be returning to this absolute gem. The decor is beautiful and itruns all the way to the smallest of details. Excellent place and staff management and owners should be proud
Kelly M — Google review
Been wanting to try the food here since seeing Matts videos on Facebook. We had to travel from County Durham to Basingstoke today so decided to detour purely for a Sunday Roast. The food is amazing. Nice and fresh and the red cabbage is out of this world! I had a standard gammon roast and my husband had a large trio of meats, which he struggled to finish. The staff are super friendly and nothing is too much. We will definitely be back
Hayley S — Google review
The food was absolutely lovely — the steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavour. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in what they serve. Friendly service, however service did let things down a bit. We had to ask to place our order after waiting quite a while, and being seated right in front of the pass wasn’t ideal — it felt a bit hectic at times. It would also be nice if a sauce came included with the steak rather than being extra. With a few tweaks to service and seating, it could easily be a five-star spot. Already told family friends about this spot and will return again 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Bee G — Google review
What a fantastic place to eat! Staff couldn't do enough for us. Food was amazing, plenty of choice & loads of different cuts of steak! Met the owner, Matt on arrival. Really down to earth & friendly. Full of interesting info on the old building itself! Prices were very reasonable. Can't wait to go back again! Well done to everyone.

Had a lovely evening meal here. I had the Porkies burger, very large couldn't eat it all. It had 2 pork patties in it, which I not know about. Took half home 😋 my partner had sirloin steak, he said its the best he's ever had 😋 the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The venue is very well laid out, comfy chairs, large bulky 2 seater table we sat at. You can see them cooking the meals, which is great. Well set out beer garden, and lovely toilet laid out in wood. Will most definitely be going back there again. Thank you for lovely time 😁
Faye W — Google review
We had a lovely lunch time meal to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Was pleasantly surprised when I walked in at how great the restaurant looks. Really airy and clean. I had an 8oz sirloin steak with chunky chips and my husband had a brisket burger with skin on fries. They were both cooked to perfection. The service was amazing and the price was really good for the quality of the food we received. We will definitely return.
Rebecca J — Google review
Wow! Absolutely blown away. Right from the booking process and all the questions and a family cream allergy, the staff just got it 100% right. Nothing was too small. The food, well i dont have the words really, but I will try. Daughter and I had chateaubriand to share, switched chips for dauphinoise potatoes. It was delicious. They still brought chips as well as the dauphinoise and just added a £3 charge instead of full price! Everything perfectly cooked, The first steak I have ever had you could have eaten with a spoon! It was so soft and the char! OMG! that char! Other meal was the lamb, absolutly massive. It looked like a full half shoulder, I never got a proper look cos Vicky ate it so quick and mopped plate. Again swapped mash, due to allegy risk and they gave her a huge amount of chips, which were like individual roast potatoes. Loved the presentation too. They both had chocolate fudge cake to finish one without condiment. Huge portion and again delicious. Drinks also lovely. My lagers were ice cold, frost on glass and daughters cocktails perfect. Even soft drinks tasted up market! Will return guaranteed and will recommend. I know it looks expensive but its not really when you consider the cost of the ingredients. Altogether a fantastic experience. Thank you Lockhouse! Thank you!

Soha took it over some time back and it's now unrecognisable. Smart decor, clean with a 5* Food Hygiene Certificate, excellent staff but more importantly the food is faultless. Soha can cook! Well at least in my opinion. The chicken tikka Desi karai I had tonight was one of the most flavoursome dishes I have had in years. Indeed it prompted me to write this review as soon as I got home. If your are tempted, it's hot and spicy but be sure to ask for it with less oil. OK this may be less authentic but at least it's better for the waist line. You can take your own alcohol and there is ample parking outside the door. I have been back a few times since the above post, and am still a fan of the food but I suggest that part of the dining area needs to be tidied up to make it more 'comfortable'.

I wish Google would let you rate, with no stars. Food was diabolical, never had watery Chicken Tikka Masala before. Tasted like a Chinese curry cross Chicken Korma and plus the rice was cold, not even room temperature (cold). Vegetable spring rolls... They key is in the name, not just mash potato. If you contemplating food here read this review. ●1, do you own a microwave? ●2, do you want better quality food than here and cheaper? If you answered yes to both of above. Get yourself to your local supermarket and buy a decent microwave meal. Puts the quality of food at Sohas to shame!

Ordered delivery so can't comment on the atmosphere of the place. By far the worst pathia I've ever had. It tasted like someone just added lemon juice to a tomato sauce. The egg was burnt in my egg fried rice. Poppadoms were soft. Naan was like a shop bought pizza base. Just bad food all around. Arrived on time though, so there's that.

As you walk in there is a motorbike dumped in the restaurant like someone had come to work on it, not exactly great for custom. Also, we were the only people inside, the lady that served us was really nice. We asked for the offer they have advertised on the window 5 courses for £14.95, what they don’t put on the poster is that 90% of the menu isn’t included. Moving onto the food, it was really poor my curry had a funny taste and smell to it, not sure what it was but couldn’t eat it. My friends ordered a Pathia curry but it was more like a Midras out of a jar! So watery.

Worst Indian restaurant we have ever been to! Slow service, food was bland & watery. One of my friends ordered a chicken tikka biryani & found bones in it! Toilets were terrible. Men's was closed & only 1 of the 2 ladies toilets in use. Toilet seat very loose, not enough loo role in there. One of the male staff went in the ladies for a dump & my friend had to go in afterwards!!!! Not pleasant! Service was very basic. Will not be going back ever & wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Very disappointed Soha's - we have had several takeaways from you before, but this one wasn't up to scratch. We ordered a takeaway treat for tonight and we looking forward to a delicious meal. Unfortunately that wasn't to be. We ordered fairly simple dishes (shish kebab starter, chicken biriani with plain naan and butter chicken with garlic rice). The food was delivered promptly and politely. However, the biriani was well flavoured but barely warm, the naan, also cold, had been reheated and was like rubber. The butter chicken was only just warm but had good flavour. The poppadoms were limp and obviously quite elderly. The only items that delivered properly were the shish kebabs and the garlic rice.

Not many decent Indian Restraunt’s here but this hidden gem is out of the world . Came here with a few friends from Birmingham and i can’t complain. Food was amazing and the staff just made it even better. Would definitely recommend.

As you can see from the images a distance view the restaurant looks great however when you look closer at the tables (pixtured) it was clear that the table cloths haven't been changed in a while as there was food on them. Today I went to this restaurant with a large party. We booked ahead to ensure they could cater for us all. After nearly 3 hours of waiting, most of the party still hadn't received even a starter let alone their main. When the food eventually started to arrive it was of fair quality however due to the slow service it still meant that a large number of our guests were unable to eat and ended up leaving the restaurant after 11 p.m. without having eaten. I have visited this restaurant several times before and each time have been very disappointed with the quality of service and quality of food. Whilst today's quality of food has been better than previous visits, the service remains the same. There is wheelchair access to this restaurant. And around 10 to 15 parking spaces directly out front for the restaurant.

Castles
Dudley Zoo and Castle offers a unique experience with its diverse collection of exotic mammals, reptiles, and a farmyard area. Visitors can also enjoy face painting while exploring the zoo grounds. The castle's history dates back to the 11th century when limestone was mined in the area for construction purposes. The ruins of Dudley Castle provide a breathtaking panoramic view from its keep, which was once used as a place of imprisonment for Mary, Queen of Scots.
Been to this zoo a few times now and have to say it has improved loads over the last few years. Loads of different animals, play areas and small rides for the kids. Most enclosures have had referbs. The only one that looks dated now Is the sealions enclosure. We always bring food as we feel the food is slightly overpriced. A great day out and the kids always want to go back.

We visited this attraction for the first time and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was better than expected, with the whole family enjoying the beautiful animals and stunning gardens and castle. We were surprised how much it had to offer. Many varieties of animals, big to small, cute to scary and everything else in between! The gardens themselves were absolutely amazing, it was a pleasure to walk around all day, soaking it in. There were also a number of playgrounds for the kids a long the way and we all loved the chair lift. - We managed to get over 20,000 steps! The facilities were a little dated (restrooms and restaurant) but functional and offering what you would expect. Overall, good value for money for a family of 4, will likely visit again if we are in the area.
Kevin K — Google review
Good selection of animals, enjoyed photographing them all. The site is on quite a hill, and there are lots of hills and steps. Land train is useful for getting to the top. Some areas are rejuvenated and look great, other areas look tired. We had eaten before arriving, which I am glad we did, as food prices were very expensive. £5.50 for a sausage roll is too much.
Damian F — Google review
I visited Dudley Zoo and Castle with my wife and two kids, and we had a great time. There’s plenty to see and do, and all the animals looked healthy and well cared for. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day, and the grounds were clean and well maintained. The castle grounds are particularly impressive, with lots of interesting information about the site’s history. It’s a long day out, but there’s enough variety to keep everyone entertained. A couple of small downsides – the signage could be clearer, as it was sometimes difficult to get your bearings even with the map. The food was also quite disappointing and expensive: a £6.50 burger was just a plain patty in a bun, with no salad, sauces or cheese, and the chips were cold. The main café building itself looks quite tired and could do with a refresh, though I can understand that much of the money rightly goes towards the care of the animals. Overall, I’d definitely recommend visiting, but I’d suggest bringing your own food or picnic to make the most of the day. It’s a great family outing with a lovely mix of wildlife, history, and scenic views.
Randeep — Google review
Dudley Zoo is a great day out in any weather! The membership is amazing value, and the new playground is fantastic. We went most recently on a grey, rainy day and still saw the tiger, lions, lynx, giraffes, arctic foxes, owls, red pandas, flamingoes, giant tortoises, lemurs, penguins, meercats, all the reptiles, wolverines, geladas and much more. Great fun for children and adults alike. Also love the BSL signs up on some of the animal enclosures.
Sarah E — Google review
This zoo and castle combination is a nice place to visit. The enclosures for the animals are suitable and they seem well looked after. I got some great views and photos. You can see Lions, Tigers, Red Pandas, Giraffes, Tapir, Lemur, various monkeys so there's a lot to see. There is a fun chairlift and a few rides. The buildings are not in great condition, but it does have a certain kind of charm. My impression is that this zoo will not last forever, and no one will build a zoo in a castle grounds again, visit while you can.
Sholto D — Google review
A fantastic day spent here. Loads of animals to see. Went to the bird of prey talk/display. It's really interesting & well worth doing. History of the castle was great to discover. Would definitely recommend this place to visit.

Absolutely fantastic time at Dudley Zoo. We went on a Thursday afternoon and it was really quiet. The non-zoo animals were baking in the sun, it would have been nice to see bowls of water out for them (the birds and so on). Great selection of wild animals, absolutely beautiful.

The Lace Guild is a fascinating and vibrant establishment that showcases the art of lace-making. Contrary to rumors, it is not being disbanded but rather continues to thrive as an important organization. Visitors are welcome to explore its premises, which currently boasts a captivating loan of lace from the V&A museum. This loan includes exquisite pieces that provide a delightful viewing experience.
We visited as walk ins the other day, were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us around, an informative video and were able to have a go at some bobbin lace making. It was such a great experience I picked up a bobbin lace starter kit, would definitely recommend a visit.

We had an absolutly amazing night at Indiluxe last night. The staff there went above and beyond to make my daughters Birthday extra special. The food was beautiful and stunningly presented. I would recommend Indiluxe to anyone who wants to celebrate a special occasion, a nice date night or a get together with family and friends.

Yesterday I enjoyed a meal here for my Birthday, with my family. They made the table up with balloons and banners and had a huge welcome. The staff were amazing friendly and courteous. Food was also amazing and served very quickly, despite it being busy.. I was so shocked when at the end of the meal the staff bought out music playing happy birthday , with a cake with a sparkling candle and cocktail. It was just so unexpected and so thoughtful. Absolutely without question this venue is a must for a great evening with great food and welcoming staff . Will be back very soon!!!

Just come home after celebrating my friends 67th birthday at this wonderful restaurant. The staff were amazing - friendly, funny and extremely attentive. The food was delicious with generous portions! There were balloons on the table and after the meal the staff brought a lovely little chocolate cake complete with a candle, sparkler and celebratory music played at the table. This was followed by a special drink ( bailies and cream I think!) and a box of chocolates for the birthday girl! Amazing! My friend hadn't been before and was really impressed with the food, service, staff and the lengths everyone went to to make the evening so special! A big thankyou to everyone at Indiluxe - can't wait to see you all again soon! (Norma and Alison.)

Having had both takeaway and meals in the restaurant, I wouldn't go anywhere else for indian food. The staff are friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. When celebrating a special occasion in the restaurant they add decorations and little extras to make your evening perfect. The food is Exceptional, always fresh using quality ingredients. The portion sizes are good and food is always hot even with delivery.

My partner and I often order takeaway from here, and we've been in together a few times too, so I decided to have my birthday meal here as I know it's always great food and great service. And I definitely made the right choice, as the experience was truly remarkable. We were taken care of at every step with every request. The starter, main, and additional bits were to die for. Cocktails weren't too expensive and were quite strong (a lovely combo!) And as it was my birthday, they played music, gave me a free cake (with enough to cut slices for 5 people!), a free large cocktail, complimentary shots (2 for each of our party of 6) and a box of truffles. Wow. Never before have I seen so much generosity in a birthday meal, and it's already confirmed that I'll be returning for my next birthday in 2026. Wonderful restaurant with caring staff, great food & drink, lovely atmosphere and just a feeling of getting your money's worth -- which is becoming rarer and rarer in this day and age. Until next time! 🥂

We went for a meal as you enter the restaurant it oozes professionalism and clearly this is engulfed/engraved into everyone's work ethics and the team were witnessed to ensure customer got the highest standards of customer care for the whole duration. The food was plentiful hot and attention to detail was clearly evident adequate time was given between dishes and the staff checked in with you in a unobtrusive manner. All public areas were visibility spotless and tables were attended/cleared to in a timely manner. The staff were well presented knowledgeable and clearly wanted their guests to have the best experience possible. It is difficult to find anything that would impact/reduce the 5 star rating. A place were memories are made and that's priceless

First time visiting, I got sever very quickly. I’m autistic, so I always have an awkward order. They catered for my needs. I think I was served by a woman called Donna. She was so understanding. It’s normally quite difficult! I can’t have things touching and she separated all my meat for me, and gave me sauces in a separate pot. I really appreciate people who go above and beyond. I will definitely be back! Thank you!

Visited 09-06-24 at 12:40. Two adults (one in a wheelchair) and one 5yr old. What has happened here? Has it changed ownership? As soon as you go in it's so clearly gone downhill. There was no customers in, but a table full of dirty plates, and a very messy counter top. The salt and vinegar condiments were filthy. Outside is messy with weeds and litter all over the place. This used to be such a gem of a place. We ordered an adult fish, plain chips and mushy peas, a child's fish bites and chips, and an Adults chicken meat, chips and salad. The kids meal was ok, but enormous. The portion was bigger than one of the adult meals. The adults fish, chips and mushy peas was ok, but the fish had loads of bones in. The chicken meat, chips and salad was just disgusting. The salad was a pile of two day old lettuce with some badly chopped tomato and cucumber. No onion, tasteless and dry. The chips were ok, but in comparison to the children's meal the portion size was small. The biggest one issue was the chicken. Whatever it was. It was barely recognisable as chicken. It was a red sludge, with tiny shards of burnt meat and globs of 'meat'.. terrible. Absolutely disgusting. It took not more than a couple of hours to have bad stomach cramps and all that follows 😬 The lady serving was so happy and polite, it's such a shame that the rest of the experience didn't match. . We used to come to sit in frequently when we lived near, but we're not going back again any time soon.
Paul G — Google review
The restaurant was very good and staff friendly but unfortunately the fish was bloody awful in fact we put in a plastic bag and gave to the dog. It didn't flack up in portions just broken into bits. This isn't as cod should be. Hence 1 star.

Fantastic Sri Lankan lamb curry, definitely recommend. Staff and service also fab.! (Donnas our fave member of staff 👌) Thanks Shen for your hospitality tonight 🙂
Debs J — Google review
This place used to be bustling. Since it’s been taken over the place has unfortunately gone downhill. It’s such a shame because the food is lovely. But the service isn’t up to standard. Very slow and not very attentive. The ladies toilets were very dirty and outside the restaurant was littered in chip wrappers and rubbish. The establishment wasn’t busy so the staff should be maintaining cleanliness during these quiet periods. It’ll be a shame to see this place go downhill when it just needs some simple measures implemented to bring some life back into the place.

A very well established Indian restaurant serving a delicious range of dishes. A good selection of authentic chef specials to tempt you with some dishes on the menu, allowing you to be able to select a combination of two currys that are very tasty. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and provide great service. I've been here quite a few times, and food is served quickly and piping hot. There is also a good range of deserts to finish off your meals. You can order beers and wines with your meal. This is a very popular restaurant, especially on a weekend where you are advised to book. Not too busy early in the week.

**UPDATE OCTOBER 2023** I've not been here for a few years but went back there this evening to order a takeaway, and as always very welcoming and friendly staff, Prices are slightly higher than any other Indian restaurant around the area but food was very nice. Next time I will be making a visit to eat in. ************************ Great food, reasonable prices, a good week day offer of 3 courses for £10.95 very friendly and polite staff, never had any complaints with the food, either with delivery or dining in. personally I think it's the best Indian restaurant in the area. Staff are always willing to go out of their way for you and nothing never seems to be too much bother. they don't keep pestering you either while you're eating. I come over a couple of minutes after your food has arrived at the table just to make sure everything is ok then they leave you to it they come back every now and again to see if you need anymore drinks. I've used this place for years, dining in and takeaways. I'll be using this place for many years to come.

Considering the history of this place they need to obtain new awards or remove the old ones as not winning one since 1998. Service good, nice pleasant people. My choice was a ginger special lamb curry with lemon rice, lamb was very good, other than that quite average. More stars? When you quote a special fusion as a special it should stick out as one of those meals but again quite average, not any taste of ginger or much else to be honest

What a great place for a walk. Well worth a visit. Amazing views, incredible scenery. Plenty of different trails. Some trails are steep and tough but worth it for the rewards. Muddy at times.

Clent Hills is a beautiful spot about 30–45 minutes from Birmingham. The views from the top are absolutely stunning, especially on a clear day. Parked just outside the National Trust Nimmings Wood car park on the roadside. There's free parking along the road and there's also the main car park (pay-and-display) which has toilets and a small cafe. The walk is a relaxing mix of woodland and hill paths, with the Four Stones viewpoint being the highlight. It’s great for photos and a quiet sit-down. The area’s popular but still feels calm and spacious. Would 100% recommend for a walk, some peaceful time, or even a light hike.

One of the best loved hills around the midlands. Stunning views especially as the sun is setting. There are many routes to the summit, some very very strenuous others an easy climb. My good lady who is a gym energy bunny was shocked at the route we took and now sees it as a challenge and wants to run here. There was a variety of people up on the summit from young to elderly. I absolutely love this place.

Hagley Hall is an 18th-century neo-Palladian historic house located in the Clent Hills on the southern outskirts of Stourbridge. It has been the residence of the Lyttelton family since its construction and is surrounded by picturesque landscaped gardens that are open to the public. The hall is available for private hire, making it a popular choice for weddings, parties, and other special events.
Throughout my visit, I encountered various wildlife. Squirrels scurried playfully, birds flitted from branch to branch, and I even caught a glimpse of a deer gracefully bounding through the undergrowth. It was a gentle reminder of the delicate balance of life within this pristine ecosystem.

Pre booked guided tour of the lovely house which took 1 hour 15 minutes. Very interesting history. Guide did not rush you around. Tours are only offered during selected days during Feb and March. Good signing and parking. No photos allowed as private residence. Tea room was very special with great coffee and cakes offered only. Service was impeccable and all the staff had smiles! Highly recommended.

We had our ring ceremony, drinks reception and wedding reception party at Hagley Hall alongside the Fews orangery and it was the best time of our lives. The staff were very helpful, friendly and available in advance of planning the day as well as being there on the day itself too. Our guests were full of compliments for the venue and our pictures/videos captured the moment perfectly. Thank you to Richard, Charlotte, Rebecca, Molly, Carlie and all of the team at Hagley Hall.

The tour was very informative and the number of rooms to see is just right. The tea room is in the house and has a nice atmosphere. If you’re not a big eater, I suggest to share a slice of cake with someone. The servings are very generous!

Went along on Easter Sunday. They use the words “ Easter extravagance. “ Wow Extravagance was not a word I’d use. 3 Adults One elder, she will hate me for that. And a child. £38, what a rip off. If it had not been fur wanting to enjoy our Easter break I would have asked for a refund. What was the charge for. Not even an Easter treat for tge 3 year old. And please don’t say I should have asked. Fur £38 I expect. You failed. Who ever is in charge should look long and hard at themselves. Be honest. Do you think there is any value?

Beautiful historic house with amazing plaster-work, artefacts, gorgeous views, incredible rooms and dedicated staff. We were very well looked after while waiting for the tour to start, the guide, Jan, was very knowledgeable and entertaining and we had tea and sandwiches served with a smile by Janet and Wendy. Well worth a visit. But only open early in the year so check before you go.

Finally got to visit Hagley Hall, we had a stroll around the Church very interesting and then a guided tour of the Hall, by a very knowledgeable lady. We finished the afternoon with tea and cake, extremely good value. A lovely housekeeper of 30 years served us and was wonderful. Many thanks

This wonderful paladin style stately home , is under the historic house umbrella. So if you are a member then entrance is free. If not then pre booked adult ticket is £10 or £12 on the day. The house is open for house tours between 16th Jan and 19th March 2023. The tour I was on , was first class , the guide knew everything without referring to notes. The house and grounds are beautiful . Everyone we spoke to was so welcoming including lady Cobham. There is a cafe and toilets on site. Parking is by the adjacent church (also worth a visit) . There is no photography allowed on the tour. An excellent and informative day out

Wychbury Obelisk

4.4

Historical landmark
Nestled in the Stourbridge area, the Wychbury Obelisk stands as a fascinating landmark steeped in history and intrigue. This site is not only known for its striking views but also for its eerie past, including the haunting tale of Bella, whose remains were found nearby in 1943.
Extremely muddy foot tracks up to the top field. Wellies are advised. Took our young Lab for a walk up to the top and around the temple boundary. The temple has had more graffiti added to internal walls. Good views though, worth the clay-sodden walking boots 😂
BigBearLogic — Google review
Easy to get to. Well maintained paths thru woods and meadows. Windy on the top. Obelisk is fenced off to prevent vandalism and getting cows to it. Nice place for a picknick with astonishing views. Meadow is perfect for the kids and dogs to play. A hidden gem near Hagley.
Marc D — Google review
Seen this place whilst driving down the Hagley by pass soo many times and the local Ramblers had a walk on today passing this very spot so i joined in. Lovely walk from Stourbridge town itself through woods which then open up giving you panoramic views of the local countryside with the Clent hills and Hagley hall in the distance. The walk up is fairly straightforward and anyone with reasonable fitness can do it. Great spot to take a picnic and enjoy a few hours just enjoying the views. You Dont really hear the noise of the traffic although you can see it. As usual visit, enjoy and please take your rubbish home! ( no bins provided ) and only leave footprints behind for others to enjoy the same wonderful spot!

Let's be honest it's not the sort of place I would go for an expedition, I went on training for DofE silver orienteering. However, some nice views and a bit of mystery of 'Who put Bella in the Wych elm'. Some nice views, historic site on the hill (iron age settlement), nice place to take your dog for a walk on a nice afternoon.
Thomas S — Google review
An easy hike with good enough views. Not many people around. I noticed people walking their dogs. It's funny how the cows looked at me, as if I was the most interesting thing they saw this week. Watch out for cow dung though!
Animekh M — Google review
Great place for views and dog walking and kite flying. Park at the double gate and the foot path is hidden in the hedge along side the fence. Follow that 100m and then right through the turn style gateway. Just as you are getting to the main field its very cow hoof puddled, we found it best to stick the barb wire fence hard left for 100m until your past it. If you do walk through be careful of turning your ankle on the hundreds of hoof print holes. Majestic views and a great spot to see Malvern and mid Wales as well as the west midlands. A clean wind area and great for a smooth air flow.
Hedgerowpete — Google review
Great panoramic views of hagley, Kidderminster, Worcester and Clee hills. I go over there nearly every day with Megg the dog, she loves it. It's always a good idea to check for cows before you enter the field or loose your dog off the lead. Cows are ace, but if you spook them, they can get pretty violent and are more than capable of smashing you and your dog to bits. Beware of cow pats, they are plentyfull, and in the woods amongst the bluebells there are a few doorways to hell, but remember if you pass through, you trade places with a devil. Beware of Harry and his hounds of hell, too.
Dan S — Google review
Depending on which route you take (there are a few ways up) this can be quite taxing but once at the top its worth it. Lovely woods just off here too.

Wychbury Hill

Mountain peak
Wychbury Hill, located in Hagley just a few miles south of Stourbridge town center, offers stunning views of the Severn Valley and Malverns from its 224-meter summit. The hill is home to the historic Hagley Obelisk, a memorial monument for the Lyttelton family dating back to 1758. Visitors can explore the remains of an ancient hill fort and admire the enormous ancient yew trees along its paths.
A very nice place to come. It has the remains of an old hill fort with ancient yew trees that are huge. The paths are not for those who have difficulty walking in tricky or steep terrain. There is the monument stack up on the hill and an old replica temple both are fenced off with the temple being in a bad state of repair. Nice on the evening to sit and watch the sunset and definitely worth a visit in the spring as there are bluebells everywhere. A favourite place of mine by far.

Stourbridge Golf Club

Golf club
Stourbridge Golf Club, established in 1892, is a renowned golf course located on the southern edge of town. The 18-hole par 69 course is set in picturesque parkland and is well-maintained with modern facilities and a fully stocked pro shop. One of its standout features is the challenging signature hole, the 2nd, which presents a test for golfers with its dog-leg left and strategically placed bunkers around the green.
Played in the well organised winter open on 13 December and thoroughly enjoyed the course. First things first, you can get a seriously good (and reasonably priced) breakfast roll to start things off. The welcome in the pro shop and the bar was very friendly and welcoming, both from the staff and the members we met. I enjoyed the variety in the course, which was in very playable condition. The par 4 15th was my favourite hole, involving a tough drive, dogleg and steep climb up to green. I got a 5, but it felt like a par!! Definitely intend to visit again.
Rich E — Google review
The course was in excellent condition on the day we played. There are some challenging holes which add to the enjoyment. A few of the fairways do cross each other, so you have to be aware of other golfer's shots. The meal in the clubhouse afterwards was excellent. The table staff were attentive & welcoming.
Malcolm H — Google review
Went with 20+ neighbours for Christmas lunch. The golf club looked after is all very well indeed. We all without exception had a thoroughly good time.
Simon P — Google review
My friend and I asked to film there for our YouTube channel and they were extremely friendly and accomodating. The greens were very well maintained. It is actually the smallest land area for a golf course in the entire country, although the course is actually pretty long! Would definitely recommend it.
Benjamin K — Google review
I've played here several times over the years, most recently yesterday. The members we played with were very welcoming and excellent hosts. There are some quirky holes where the fairways cross over each other, which I can imagine may cause a bit of confusion if you hadn't played here before. The course itsself was in very good condition, after all the rain we'd had over the past few days it wasn't damp under foot at all, and the greens ran true. We had a very lovely chicken dinner which was served by the kitchen staff who were very professional and polite.
J P — Google review
Played using the 1892 reciprocal agreement with 7 others. We were made to feel so welcome by both staff and members. Course was in great conditionwith challenging greens. Would go back anytime.
Andrew L — Google review
Great course and club house. Enjoyed my round. Hopefully will get to play it again soon. Minor criticism would be that a course map would be handy on the scorecard as with a few cross over holes it was a bit confusing.

Stambermill Viaduct

Bridge
Stambermill Viaduct is an impressive industrial structure located in Stourbridge, where it spans the Stour River and the A458. Built in 1850, this viaduct features ten arches and can be best appreciated from Stamford Road, offering a stunning view of its grandeur. Visitors can take a leisurely walk along the riverside or through the nearby woods, enjoying picturesque views of the viaduct while breathing in fresh air.
The brick buttress with arch shaped brickwork immediately alongside which you can clearly see in the photos is the abutment of Brunel's original timber viaduct which the present viaduct replaced. Brunel built all the viaducts on the GWR originally in timber as they cost a fraction of brick built viaducts and quicker to build, that enabled the GWR to open the railway quicker and get the money rolling in. Then go back 25 yrs later and replace them with brick viaducts alongside. Genius.

Nestled in the charming village of Hagley, The Lyttelton Arms is a vibrant and contemporary rural pub that beautifully marries British cuisine with Mediterranean flair. Its art deco-inspired interiors are a feast for the eyes, featuring modern artwork and plush velvet seating in striking colors. The marble-topped bar adds an elegant touch to this inviting space.
Even though we are local, it was our first visit to the pub. We were very impressed with the pub Although we hadn’t booked and the pub was very busy the lovely hostess (dark hair and glasses) was very welcoming and found us a table within a few minutes. We ordered a bottle of wine and 2 mains and we were blown away by the quality of the food. Perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Our Waitress Tia was very friendly and attentive and couldn’t do enough to help. Watching the other staff everyone seemed very happy and it was a really nice atmosphere to dine in. Nice selection of wines too. We will be back.

This was quite nice, we went on a Sunday and it was very busy, staff were friendly but busy, it took a while for us to be seated and for drinks to arrive. Food was good. There were some GF and V options available. Decent sized car park attached, seating inside and out.

First time visit and was greeted by a friendly receptionist who gave us a really spacious table. The decor inside is beautiful & the restaurant was really clean. They have taken steps to ensure that the premises is open to all and is child friendly. Ample parking is available. Our server was Luca, who was attentive & professional with excellent hospitality skills. We ordered the butternut squash soup & black & pepper squid (calamari). Both starters were delicious and presented beautifully. The fish & chips were huge & tasted great. We will be returning in the future. Good selection of non-alcoholic drinks, the bramble lemonade was refreshing. 10/10

We've visited here a few times now, and have been really pleased each time. The indoors restaurant is superb, and the staff are incredibly attentive. We've had birthday parties and general sunny afternoon drinks. The outdoor seating area for the summer is brilliant, and has thoughtful smoke free areas that are maintained for families and those who just don't like to be around smoke/vape. Prices are very reasonable, and the overall experience is more luxurious than your normal pub. Very highly recommended.

We went here tonight. The atmosphere here is nice and the waitress who served us was friendly. The food was nice although my partner found a hair in his pizza. We didn’t complain or comment on this as it was near the end of his meal. It was only after we paid the bill and were finishing off our drinks that the previously friendly waitress came over and rudely stated that she needed the table back. We booked for 6.15pm and it was 7.25pm, so we’d been there little over an hour. In fairness, if it had been a couple of hours since our booking, I would have understood. No where on the booking email does it state the table is only available for a set time. Sadly, the rude way this was delivered to us has put us off going back. I was planning to book for my son’s 18th next month but now if we can only have a table for 1 hour 15 minutes and due to the rudeness of the waitress has made me reconsider. A shame as overall it was a positive experience that was ruined at the last moment.

We had such a fantastic experience! The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. Our waitress, Kelsey, was absolutely amazing – so friendly, great fun, and really made the whole evening special. When we mentioned it was our husbands’ birthdays, she surprised us by bringing out cake with a candle, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebrations even more memorable. Couldn’t have asked for better service – thank you, Kelsey, for making it a night to remember!

We just hosted a funeral reception for 50 at the Lyttleton in the room downstairs. Sam was our bartender and ran the event beautifully, call out to Hannah too. The team were accommodating of our requests, allowed us to bring in desserts, set up the computer so we could project photos and allowed for our selected music tracks to be played. The food was delicious, and we were all so comfortable and well taken care of for this memorable event. Thank you!

Thought we would give this place ago as we hadn’t been in for a good 5 years, well all I can say is it’s got worse. Still shoved in like sardines in a can, food was bang average, service was ok. The fun bit was the bill, £15.50 per head for food x 4 people £62.00 that’s not bad.we did order 2 extra portions of chips but they never came and we didn’t get charged for them. Now the best bit, £36 for drinks!!!! We had in total 2 glasses of wine (£5.50 each) 2 large Pepsi (only one price in the menu £2.50 each) then 2 large apple juice and 1 large apple juice with lemonade, neither of these drinks in the drinks menu but after deducting the other drinks from the £36 charged leaves £20 for those 3 drinks???? Obviously I questioned this, I was told the large apple juice is £5!!!! You want, £5 for a large glass of TESCO apple juice!! What a joke. Well all I’m saying is, if you come here it’s worth having I think your drinking choices rather than having a shock at the end as the price of drinks isn’t what’s in the menu and also massively inflated Tesco own brand Apple juice.

Booked for early Sunday evening and the place was heaving. Took some time to get food ordered, the set menu seemed good value - the starters were really good but the mains were poor. Staff were friendly but so slow - we wanted knives and forks and I had to go to the counter and ask 3 times, by which time our food was cooling. Took ages to clear our table and again had to go to counter to request coffee included in menu. We hadn’t been there for over 20 years and don’t think we will bother again

Staff were nice, service was fine a good pace no issues there. The food was not great, my quarms with it was the quality of it was okay but the portion sizes here are tiny. Nice place for seating and everything tables were comfortable to sit at. A few dogs in here didn't spoil it either so fair play to them. Overall it was okay, just think the food needs a little touch over.

Popped in for breakfast with my brother who loves their breakfasts. It was very quiet and lots to offer for unlimited breakfast, full English, pastries, coffees, teas fruit juices, cornflakes etc etc. I had a full English 2 of everything with a cappuccino (help yourself to drinks) must say poached eggs where cooked perfect and overall good value for money. The only comment I would make about the breakfast is that the bacon is thin and dry. Also the place looks tired and could do with make over.

I do a lot of travel around the country on a weekly basis and eat regularly in Beefeaters, more out of necessity really than choice and haven’t felt the need to comment negatively or indeed positively as the food is just what it is (Food) nothing more and nothing less . In my opinion not really requiring a positive review or indeed negative either way . Thing is that today is my second day here and I’ve eaten twice ; once yesterday and once today and if the food had been poor just the one day I would have let it slide; but as the food was again really poor on day two this somewhat convinced me that it’s worth posting my experience. Yesterday my salad (Lettuce) was brown ; literally the whole bowl was just off . When mentioned it was acknowledged that it looked really bad and that was pretty much it . The food itself was in my opinion just a mess and tasted utterly greasy and my colleague also experienced the same as we ate together. Today I stupidly tried again ; again out of more of an eating necessity as I’m in the area for a while and again the food is meager and just (without swearing) - Total Junk. What actually happened to Beefeater ? When did it start to not give a crap about the food they put on a plate or indeed serve up without any kind of quality check for brown , rotten salad and greasy food . It’s a shame as it once had a relatively good name . I would not recommend the food here at all, as in my opinion, there is virtually no care given to what is actually sent out to customers. On reflection , Im actually a little angry I paid good money for very poor quality food . Nightmare Oh and if you look closely at the image of todays food and blow it up ; you maybe able to spot the brown peas too

Museum
The Stourbridge Glass Museum, located in Wordsley, Stourbridge, is a fascinating destination for visitors of all ages. It offers interactive displays and live glass making demonstrations that captivate both children and adults. The museum provides an educational journey through the history of the Stourbridge Glass Quarter, showcasing the industry's impact on the region's reputation for creativity and skill worldwide. Visitors can explore the site of the former Stuart Crystal Works and learn about working inside an iconic glass cone.
The Glass Museum is great. I booked onto a tour of tunnels where we got to go under the museum and learn even more about the glass making process and how the site used to work. Our tour guide Karen was absolutely brilliant! Incredibly knowledgable, friendly, and a great host. Would highly recommend! The museum itself has lots to look at and learn, with new exhibits coming to the museum frequently. The Red Cone over the road is also worth popping to whilst you’re in the area.

Fantastic museum with an amazing range of glass showcasing a wide variety of different styles, techniques and history. The layout was very slick and had some nice interactive features. Great to speak to a glass artist about her craft and see her work up close. Will definitely be returning with my family in future!

Wonderful little Museum. Well worth a visit. Everyone was so welcoming throughout. The glass on display is stunning. The hotshop work was fascinating to watch and they were happy to answer questions about their work. I was floored to see the oldest piece in the collection is dated 1450BC!!! Wow!

A fantastic gem in Stourbridge. The venue is both historic and modern. We attended one of their events on a Saturday evening. The event was sake and sushi tasting - they also do a lot of other tastings and events. The volunteers were fantastic and really looked after us. The event was really good and we had an opportunity to explore the museum too. We really enjoyed our entire experience and we’ll be back again soon.
Ian C — Google review
This is a fantastic museum! The volunteers are so informed and passionate, Antonia was brilliant! I'd read about it through Art Fund and it exceeded my expectations. The glass museum has magnificent pieces explaining the development of glass in Stourbridge and beyond. Upstairs the exhibition continues to more modern glass artists. It was fabulous! The Chris Day Exhibition was thought provoking and so interesting. I would strongly recommend a visit.
Jeanne F — Google review
Very interesting look into the world of glass working. We especially enjoyed watching glass blowers at work shaping hot glass. I don't think I could enjoy it if I took a child along, as there are far too many delicate things they could break.
Bill R — Google review
An absolute must! I love history and creative minds and this was perfect. I was met with incredibly friendly staff and then a lovely lady called Antonia showed me around. Antonia was very knowledgeable, showed me some of her favourite pieces and even had a personal story on why she is so passionate (if I remember her grandad worked as a glass maker?) I spent about an hour here reading all the information and admiring the beauty in each piece. I was particularly blown away by the Chris Day exhibition. The art was powerful and moving especially reading the stories behind them. I also loved Madeleine Hughes Plastic Beach, such a creative mind! At the end, I went to the gift shop and purchased a vintage glass bowl which had been donated. The gift shop is very well priced and I would recommend looking here if you're looking for some beautiful glass items! Thank you to Antonia for going above and beyond with knowledge and friendliness ☺️
Kit K — Google review
Absolutely fabulous venue! Lots to see and do. Resident artists on site - amazing watching the hot glass demos! Staff are welcoming and friendly. If you check Eventbrite for the museum, you’ll find all types of events you can sign up for. Tunnel tours, heritage walks, glass fusing and hot glass experience. Worth a visit!

The Red House Glass Cone, built in 1790, is the best-preserved of the four remaining glass cones in the UK. Once home to Stuart Crystal until 1936, it now operates as a museum run by Dudley Council. Visitors can explore underground tunnels and climb a platform for an inside look at how the cone functioned. Adjacent to Stourbridge Canal bridge, it's a prominent local landmark and now houses independent creative businesses.
Certainly should have given myself more time to look around such an impressive site. Free admission around the cone and a well stocked gift shop to end your visit. Free parking plot across the road - gates close at 4:00pm.
Mark N — Google review
We had a great time learning from Martin how glass was made there, in Red House Glass Cone. Absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience. We were shown the whole process of glass making and all our questions were answered. I would recommend to everyone to visit this place. We are certainly coming again
Elena B — Google review
It’s open! The restored cone was opened to the public in August 2024, to coincide with the International Festival of Glass. And what a brilliant restoration! It is empty, sadly – the internal fire and internal structures are all missing, but the main structure is super-impressive. Importantly, the world’s only surviving moving Lehr is there. So long as you have someone knowledgeable to guide you, it is truly fascinating (and without a guide it might be boring). We were fortunate to be shown around by Jez, from Dudley Council, who explained everything brilliantly.
Marc F — Google review
Wow! I was visiting the glass museum over the road and decided to pay a quick visit here... I was not disappointed! Such a beautiful site next to the canal, I can't believe it was free to view! The cone itself blew me away, so much beauty in a structure and it's been recently renovated. It was so interesting and beautiful The staff were all super friendly and lovely and had fantastic knowledge. I love visiting places like this where the staff genuinely care and love what they do. The gift shop was lovely and spacious and I brought a few items from here. The staff were helpful and friendly too! A must see! 👀
Kit K — Google review
The cone was a massive chimney to allow glass to be made. Now it's an interesting museum with some small workshops and, of course, a glass staircase.
Steve R — Google review
This impressive structure that dominates the skyline is one that must be visited. You need only spend a few hours here to learn about the rich history of the local area. The staff are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. It was a pleasure watching them work, from the caterer in the cafe, to the glass blowers in the sweltering studio out front. I would not bring small children, on our visit I couldn't see anything that would interest them and there are lots of beautiful glass creations on display.
Richard S — Google review
This was so interesting, the volunteer who was o. Reception was so knowledgeable and brought the whole place to life. The furnace and tunnels are fascinating. This was the glass production centre, exporting to the world! The museum was fascinating.
Jeanne F — Google review
The Make Time Friendship club, really appreciated having a guided tour, which was made very interesting and brought the glass works to life. I don’t think any of us realised how skilled the job was and certainly very hard work. All the Museum staff was helpful and friendly. Our visit was Wednesday 18th June, 2025

Stourbridge Canal

Canal
The Stourbridge Canal, a picturesque waterway stretching just over five miles, has a rich history intertwined with the glassmaking industry of the 18th and 19th centuries. This charming canal not only served local glassworks but also supported brick manufacturers and ironworks. Today, it remains open for exploration, seamlessly connecting the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal to the Dudley Canal, which links Birmingham to the River Severn.
Best way to walk if going to Stourbridge.
Stuart ( — Google review
Absolutely stunning walks and views on any season. Great well maintained footpaths.
Anthony B — Google review
Lovely stretch of canal way leading upto Kinver and beyond
Linda C — Google review
The canal has a very nice atmosphere about it. Even though it starts in the middle of the town it feels nothing like it and has a variety of historical building and even local canal trips out of the bonded warehouse. Whether traveling along by foot bike or narrow boat you will have plenty of time to enjoy the canal, apart from certain areas where factories border the canal or where it cuts through the town it is near impossible to tell that you are not in the countryside. Although Stourbridge canal it self is only a 40 minute walk at a more leisurely pace the Wollaston and Kinver canals join it at the end and you can continue along those the. The junction between them is seamless and is just a turn (and a lock depending which way you go) to go down either one. The canal has a nice park at the end of it with fairly decent equipment and a large size, it is a nice place to stop before continuing on. If you head down towards Kinver you can expect a 3-4 mile journey before getting their but it is all along the countryside with some spectacular views in places and is a nice way to continue your journey.
Peter F — Google review

Restaurant
Ruby Cantonese Restaurant is a delightful dining destination that promises an exceptional culinary experience. Many patrons rave about the attentive and friendly staff, who go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcomed from the moment they step inside. The restaurant boasts a beautiful ambiance, making it perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. Diners can enjoy a unique table setup featuring a large rotating table, ideal for sharing dishes with friends or family.
We went as a group of 4, and from the moment you walk in, you're given a 5 star experience. The restaurant is so beautiful. The staff are incredibly polite and friendly, and they couldn't do enough for us. We'd never been before and were unsure about the table set up and the food, but everything is placed on a huge rotating table so you can share and try whatever you like. The food was exceptionally good, all freshly made and piping hot, with very generous portions. We needed a take out box for leftovers as there was so much. Including drinks, prawn crackers, starters, mains, and rice, it was around £27 each, which was very reasonable considering the quality and quantity. I highly recommend going to Ruby Cantonese. I'm vegetarian and they have a nice selection, we'll definitely go again!
Caroline M — Google review
I hope you like walking because there’s no parking! Inside is very pretty but very small and cold, it was my bday and wanted to go to a BUFFET but it was a set menu that you had to choose! That’s not what a buffet is, a buffet is a restaurant that customers can go and pick which food they want at any time and as many food as they want. The food was delicious I must give them credit for that one thing, but they let themselves down with the portions! Very misleading menu, in the pictures the food may look big but I assure you we left hungry. OVER PRICED People rushing past our table with flaming sizzling hot dishes inches away from our faces whilst they go service other customers was quite unpleasant and unsettling. Me and the person I came with to enjoy this experience did not enjoy this experience to much unfortunately we really wished we have kept our money to spend at a Chinese/ Thai takeaway because at least we would be getting more for our money and feel comfortable.

We’ve been a few times over the last few weeks after a work colleague recommended it. For a staff meal & a family meal. Staff are very helpful & efficient. We enjoyed the early bird special it was very good value and lots of variety. The kitchen is open plan and looked very clean tidy & efficient. I love open plan kitchens when eating out. Highly recommend for a large or small table booking you will be well looked after
Andrea C — Google review
The best Cantonese restaurant around. Very good value for money. Food is delicious and the service is excellent. The only areas for improvement are the soft drinks, the draft pop and fruit juices don’t taste very nice at all and clarity on whether MSG is used (it isn’t mentioned either way on the menu). Other than that, great restaurant!
A2ME T — Google review
Well my friend made a booking here and they had her telephone number, but the following week when we arrived 10/08 the place was closed with a note saying closed till the 20/08. So can’t comment on the food but it would have been nice to have had a courtesy call informing us the place was closed,
David S — Google review
We had a lovely succulent meal today from the Ruby Cantonese. The staff were all very professional and polite, as well as helpful as it was our first time eating here. We were recommended by countless different people to come and have a meal here. So we had very high expectations, and even then we were still blown away by the service and quality. On top of that, the price and quantity was very reasonable. 5/5 would definitely come again!

Indian restaurant
Khatris Nepalese and Indian Cuisine in Stourbridge is a delightful dining destination that promises a warm welcome from its attentive staff. Many patrons rave about the flavorful dishes, particularly highlighting the Nepalese specials as must-tries. While some have had mixed experiences with certain menu items, the overall consensus is that Khatris stands out as one of the best Indian restaurants in the area.
Thoroughly enjoyed the meal here. The food is a notch or two above the other Indian and Asian restaurants in the area and competitive on price too. They serve alcohol so you wo t be able to take your own but prices are good £4.50 for a reasonable sized glass of red! I just wished I'd taken a photo of the nasn bread - it was a sight to behold.
Janet C — Google review
Amazing place definitely the best Indian/South Asian place around Stourbridge. Very attentive staff and most importantly delicious food we had the Nepalese specials (the 2 first ones in the category). Highly recommend and will be back soon!
Alicja O — Google review
Our second visit here and it would have been better if I hadn't had trusted my instincts. My usual choice off the menu is for something very flavoursome and on the hotter side. Unfortunately this resulted in our waitress recommending the Gurkhali special, apparently it's one of their most popular dishes but I wasn't sure and subsequently found it really bland and watery, possibly the most tasteless dish I have ever had. I should have returned it but waiting for a replacement would also spoil the night for the wife. Her meal was just the opposite which she couldn't praise highly enough. There was nothing wrong with the starters or sides either which were better than most places . I did mention my "issue" to them and TJ was very apologetic and rectified the issue. If in doubt with the menu please seek his advice. The friendly and efficient service, ambience and presentation of this restaurant is excellent, and we look forward to a different dish when we return.

5* absolutely earned on our visit. Having never eaten Nepalese food previously but able to cook authentic Indian food we wanted advice. Our waiter not only offered advice to suit our pallet but explained even what spices were used. Wow what a fantastic meal. I really hope you’re not disappointed WE WEREN’T Thank you to all the helpful staff.
Susan W — Google review
For some reason it appears i now have two accounts, one as Local Guide John Ireland which I can't edit and one as Curryholic. Following our last visit I was keen to return to try another dish as I had previously made the wrong choice, and we also really enjoyed the exceptionally friendly and efficient service. We stayed with the very tasty sheekh kebab but this time I opted for a Tawa, and it was as hot and as flavoursome as I was hoping for. The wife really loves her minty clay pot dish so no changes there. The chicken in both dishes was excellent too. Overall I couldn't fault the night. Unsurprisingly it is therefore very popular so booking is recommended.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Absolutely outstanding! Khatris is hands down the best restaurant I've eaten at in a long time. The food is truly out of this world — full of rich, authentic flavour and beautifully presented. Every dish was delicious, and you can tell they really care about quality. What made it even better was the incredible staff. Friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive — they made us feel completely welcome from the moment we walked in. It’s rare to find a place where the service is as fantastic as the food, but Khatris nails both. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you for such a memorable dining experience! 🙏🍛🌶️
