Worksop in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Worksop, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Worksop is a handy base for exploring North Nottinghamshire’s historic estates and countryside, sitting close to both Clumber Park and the grand Welbeck Abbey estate on the edge of Sherwood Forest. The town itself has a long monastic and industrial heritage, reflected in sites like the Priory Church of Our Lady and St. Cuthbert. Nearby walking and cycling trails, canals and country parks offer easy access to woodland scenery and wildlife. Its location also makes it a practical stop between Sheffield, Nottingham and the broader Peak District.
With favorites like Jhinook, Cafe-Neo, and B&M Store, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Cafe-Neo and 62 Worksop Fish Bar so you can get the best taste of Worksop while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

National Parks
Clumber Park is a vast National Trust estate located in Nottinghamshire, known for its woodland walks, scenic lake, and Gothic chapel. The park is part of the Dukeries area and offers a rich aristocratic heritage with abbeys, stately homes, estate parks, woodlands, and meadows. Visitors can explore Clumber Lake, Greek and Roman Garden temples, and the Chapel of St Mary the Virgin.
Wonderful day out,an incredible place stunning walks through woodland, along the meandering river, beautiful water rills, lots of things going on for youngsters, bike hire available from trundle bikes to adults. The historical grand house sadly is no longer standing but the history is mind blowing. The walled garden and greenhouse is fantastic and you can actually buy some of the produce at the entrance to the walled garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

This is a decent park for a gentle stroll and spot of lunch. Entry price is very reasonable and there is plenty of parking. There are a couple of cafes, one of which is dog friendly inside. A second hand bookshop. Discovery centre. Shop and various cycle routes. There is a lovely pink stone chapel that is worth a look and the walled gardens were really well laid out. The lunch in the cafe was the usual NT fare and filled a hole. There is extensive parkland where you can walk if you wish to venture further than the main pleasure gardens and surrounds. There are two secure dog paddocks to let your dog off lead and one of them has agility equipment. They could do with more dog poo bins and the signage could do with improving. Near the cafe and shop the signs are clear, but elsewhere the signs and maps are pretty vague. We heard other visitors complaining of the same thing. All in all it is a lovely site for a walk and picnic with the family and a good stopping off point of you're traveling further up or down the country.

This is a very large estate with the parking lot a good distance from the entrance. So be prepared to walk after parking. There is no manor house to tour as it was demolished in 1938 due to the expense of maintaining it and paying taxes. But the formal vegetable garden still remains as a walled garden and there are several wooded and open paths that one can take on the property. There is a gothic style church on the grounds and one is welcome to peek inside. The lake is very scenic with swans floating in the water. The path along the lake is very long and we tired out before we could make it to the far end. The vegetable garden has numerous varieties of apple trees, brussel sprouts and rhubarb. ( I never realized how many different varieties there were.) Green houses near the back have placards explaining the various job titles and techniques used when the house was an active estate. There is a farm equipment museum in one of them which is quite interesting. The estate has a tea room near the stables if you want some refreshment. This place could be a full day adventure if you plan to walk along the many paths on the grounds.

Nice big spacious car parking area which is a short walk from the main toilets, play area and cafes. Nice walk about a third of the way round the is a food/drink place with outdoor seating and toilets. We live going here with our doggy

Fantastic place to visit as it’s so close to the A1. Great walks available with a long circular route around the lake or you can just explore the area. Great cycling routes and bike hire available also. Has multiple cafes, activities in the garden and play areas for children.
Kat S — Google review
This is my favourite place to visit for a lovely walk around the lake. We go several times a year. The walk is approx 3 1/2 to 4 miles. Some times I struggle with that because of my health. You can hire a mobility scooter free if you book in advance. Also there is a free shuttle bus that picks up and drops off in the south lake car park. The cafe has some nice food too I love the home made soups and cheese scones. Staff are friendly, I would highly recommend.

Been many times but Clumber is a beautiful park with a stunning lake and scenic paths through woodland and open fields. Easy to access and has plenty of parking. Great prices if you have NT cards. It’s also located near some brill cafes, such as Thaymar or Bird Hide Lounge (Cobbs), if you need lunch whilst visiting.
AJC 0 — Google review
Large area with lots of woodland walks, although it was busy you can still have a quiet walk. Great parking along driveway although it's a national trust area, you don't need to show your membership until you go to the actual buildings. But you are advised to. Has hard surface paths and of track areas, theses could be very muddy in the wet months . Very dog friendly.

Nestled in the heart of the community, The Canch is a delightful park that has earned its Green Flag status for good reason. This hidden gem beautifully combines ornate flowerbeds with an array of facilities designed for family fun. Visitors can enjoy free parking on Sundays and ample space to engage in various activities, from ball games to exploring nature. The park features two playgrounds catering to different age groups, ensuring that children have plenty of options for play.
Very little seating for grandparents parents and caregivers etc. bring your own seat or picnic mat. Otherwise a great place. I visit with the grandkids and have to lean on the fences as I have mobility issues. So we can’t stay as long as we would like. Shame the council can’t add a few more seats??? Maybe they can comment?

Really lovely area. Great play area for kids, with a bit for disabled children too. Water fountains that come up out the floor. Exercise equipment area. Skating area, there's a cafe that's open sometimes, otherwise pop into the aurora cafe. And a canal that runs through the whole area, that's lovely to walk along
Helena H — Google review
Very nice playground for kids especially in sunny days ther is water playground for kids swings fresh air
Bog H — Google review
Really lovely park, lots of things to see and do, kept the kids entertained for a couple of hours. There's two sizeable play areas, an exercise gym, basketball / tennis court, BMX / skate park and large green areas. There's also a splash pad which would have been ideal for today but sadly was closed due to leak issues. The park is surrounded by streams and waterways, a small takeaway serves hot and cold food and drinks and ice-cream. There are plenty of toilets but sadly they were all closed, even the radar accessible ones? A short walk away there is the grand Worksop priory. Definitely worth a visit and will return.

beautiful gardens with pathways everywhere. Cafe with view of priory church children's play areas with swings ect. Water playarea with soft child friendly floor area. Skate park with outside gym lots of small wildlife nearby

Great park Parking opposite free for 1 hour see pic for more details Free parking all day sunday No card meter change only Two parks altogether a smaller kids one with some great things on and a bigger kids one both very good. Big water features to play in in the summer Skate park as well a pretty big one It also has a stream and stepping stones which the kids loved with a few ducks pottering about Cafe towards the back as well All in all a great little hidden gem
Andrew ( — Google review
The park was fantastic in terms of all the different equipment for the kids to use. Skate park, younger and older playground, feeding the ducks and water park. Even though it was busy the children played nice. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there were a lot of people using unnecessary foul language, a domestic argument that was way too loud for children's ears and some kids started a fire. So the police/fire brigade turned up. A woman also grabbed my son in a panic thinking he was going to fall in the stream. He wasn't going to fall in and she overreacted. He doesn't recall it as a positive experience. Saying that I would still visit again 😊
Vicky S — Google review
Great day out with the kids in the summer. Has a water play area, gardens, climbing frames and zip wire, skate park, concrete basketball/ football area. Has a toilet but don't use unless you have too. You can park in the car park for an hour for free. Then £1.70 for two hours.

I like the shop very much but a lot of the staff seem to not care or are not respectful to the customers. It's like they really don't want to be there and that working there is a chore. Maybe they need to find another job and let someone who can show respect to customers and will be more enthusiastic about working for b&m.
Helen T — Google review
I always go to B&M to get my house cleaning products and I always have a look around the store but just lately I have noted the prices and getting more and more as to how the shop was. Also it is not a great look for the store when you arrive at the store to see employees just sat on the floor smoking just near the entrance. One thing that is a big positive is the new bargain range now that I do like. The other big bear is that when you ask a staff member if they have something in the store they say not sure it might be on this aisle or the aisle? And never enough stuff on the tills when it's busy.

With modern decor and mellow lighting, it creates an inviting space perfect for any occasion. Guests rave about the friendly staff who provide exceptional service, ensuring every visit feels special.
Not been here for few years and decide to come back. Food was absolutely outstanding and freshly prepared. The chef has brought out the food himself, staff were friendly and easily available. Will definitely be back. Also great prices, highly recommend.

We went into the restaurant to order a takeaway and was impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and comfortable seating. The staff were professional and courteous. The food was outstanding. It's a bit more expensive than a lot of places, but it's definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for' and, in my opinion, well worth it.

We booked a last-minute table for three. The staff really made our experience here a 5 star visit. The food was delicious and very well presented. The atmosphere was nice and lovely, modern, mellow lighting, but the thing we noticed the most was the friendly and polite staff and the exceptionally fast service . The only downside to this is that there isn't a dedicated car park, but there is a pay and display car park a few feet away from the premises which we used. Would definitely recommend

Did extremely well to say we were a group of 12 including 3 kids! All the food came out together nice and hot, didnt take longer than youd expect for a group that size and the food was phenomenal. Best curries ive ever had. I opted for the Venison Shangri La which was beautiful but I also had some Korma (best ive ever had), as well as some other varies bits. Everything was just top top quality. Can't recommend this place enough! Very very fair prices for the quality you get.

We used to enjoy going to Jhinook so on a celebration night, I booked a table for myself and my wife. I booked a week in advance. We arrived and it was rammed, people waiting everywhere. The man asked if we had booked so I said yes, 7:30, he mumbled and walked off. After standing there 20 minutes, he still hadn’t come back or communicated in any way. There was 2 other couples also waiting for their 7:30 spot, when a group came in and said they had booked for 8pm, they went straight to a table which wound everybody up. Basically we were stood waiting nearly 40 minutes with no sign of a table being available, I told the man to cancel and we’d go elsewhere which we did. What’s the point in booking a table, when they just don’t reserve one for you? Seems they like to let anyone sit anywhere to get the business and others wait. Anyway, on a positive, we found another amazing indian restaurant locally that beats Jhinook in every way so we will be going there in future. Thanks 👍

Not ordered from here for a couple of years as we thought the quality had dropped off. But we decided to return and ordered a takeaway. We were not dissapointed, the food was superb and was delivered in just over 30 minutes. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be placing regular orders, top notch.

Creswell Crags is an archaeological museum located in a limestone gorge, featuring caves and fissures that house prehistoric tools and art. The site offers the Creswell Crags Circular Walk, a 3-mile trail through the stunning limestone gorge on the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire border, providing breathtaking views of rock formations and surrounding countryside. Along the walk, visitors can explore caves and rock shelters once inhabited by early humans.
Amazing place to visit, and we have returned many times. Free entry to the valley and lake, cafe and shop. Charge to park a car (free for blue badge holders). Charges for cave tours and exhibition, but these are not essential for a lovely day out. The cafe is attractive, but the only real option for lunch is paninis and service is slow. All of the paths are suitable for a mobility scooter, except to cave entrances. A lovely day or half day out.
David P — Google review
What a great day out. The guide was informative, with a sense of humor. He made the talk interesting and used exhibits, which were handed round. Loved the caves and the immersive experience. My granddaughter loved the whole experience. Nice gifts available in the shop.

I have wanted to go here for years and had built it up in my head quite a bit. I was delighted to find that the site is i. Actuality ad atmospheric and beautiful ad I had hoped, but also with excellently displayed archaeology! You pay to park, but can access on foot for free. The museum is extra as is a cave tour (limited numbers). We had a pleasant half day there including lunch and felt no need for those extras, but plan to return and pay for both. The visitor centre is very attractive in a modern way while sitting into the landscape. Vibe is of a sub spine gorge. Lovely meadow for children to run off steam in. Includes a play area etc.

Pay to park, free to walk all areas, museum, gift shop, restaurant with inside/outside seating, picnic area, loads of rest a while benches, wood carvings everywhere. Huge pond to walk around. Cave exploration by special arrangement and a fee. Perfect for school trips.

What a fantastic place!! We spent a good few hours in awe of this place We went on the ice age cave tour! The guide is a friendly funny man with second to none toilet humour! He also informed us that there is 1 person that takes care of the whole place and does t really receive much credit.... so to whoever that person may be a gigantic thank you from us, you're doing an incredible job!!!!
Hannah C — Google review
A visit to this beautiful limestone gorge steeped in prehistory was a real treat. We couldn't visit the caves as the tours had been booked well in advance but the walk around lake which was free and a look round the museum (£5 for an adult) was really enjoyable.
Anita M — Google review
Fantastic day out. My family and I booked a cave tour. It was handled brilliantly. Plenty of interesting information for both adults and children, yet not too much to overwhelm or bore. Exploring caves and learning the history of the location was great fun for all. Lots to look at and explore on a walk around the gorge, a fun play area for the kids and a nice café and museum indoors.

We had a fabulous tour today with John. My kids (6 and 8) were completely absorbed and he was so good in his manner with them. He obviously is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject and humoured us when we went off on tangents about Robin Hood. Brilliant value for money and a lovely day out. Thank you

Cafe-Neo is a delightful spot that offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a long day. With its friendly and attentive staff, including the wonderful Carl and Diana, guests are treated to exceptional service alongside delicious food. The menu features tasty options like the Neo burger, omelette, and particularly the highly praised Caesar salad. While the prices are impressively reasonable for such quality fare, there’s room for improvement in maintaining cleanliness in the restrooms.

Good and great price £22 for a great Neo burger , omelette and chips with two drinks so I was impressed with the price and the food tasted good. Toilets need a bit of TLC as a general cleanup, but other than that good food good service
James R — Google review
As a previous fan of Neo it really seems to have gone downhill. At 9am the doormat was filthy as was the floor signalling a lack of cleaning the night before. There were crumbs all over the seats, the booths are in disrepair. The food is adequate but very expensive given the relatively poor quality of it. When theres only 2 customers in, cleanliness and service should be top draw but the tea had white floats of off milk and had to be returned. If you can't take pride in your own business how can you expect customers to want to enjoy it? Will be off to morrisons next time

If you're in Worksop and craving a classic meal, look no further than 62 Worksop Fish Bar. After a long day, this charming spot offers not only delicious fish and chips but also exceptional service from friendly staff who ensure your order is just right. The portions are generous, the prices reasonable, and the quality consistently impresses diners. Update: Still fantastic fish and chips just like being beside the sea. Fresh and lovely batter cooked to order almost every visit so expect a 10 minute wait, Well worth a visit. The menu has changed and the mini fish is quite small but the regular fish special and chips with peas or curry is just right... Good value at £5.50

Ordered, chips, Yorkshire Fishcake, larger battered sausage, peas and curry. Worried that the Yorkshire fish cakes wouldn’t be good, I was wrong! They are well cooked (although looked pasty), and tasty, chips again were pale but tasted great! Sausage was good too; curry sauce spicy for me cos I’m a wimp lol but really enjoyed it, mushy peas, as they should be, mushy and salty - good chippy 👍

Visited Clumber Park Cafe for lunch during a trip to Clumber Park. However, the bean chilli with only 399 calories was tasty and satisfying. Another option chosen was a baked potato with cheese, which was enjoyed. The cafe itself had a nice variety of food and drink available in canteen style.
Nicely located near Sheffield. A very big place to go lakes, walking trails, Activities for kids, cricket match absolutely paradise. I will definitely recommend this place, specially in hot weather. DO NOT FORGET YOUR COLD WATER BOTTLE 😀

Ordered 2 sandwiches and a kids meal, they forgot about 1 of the sandwiches. Went in to chase it 2 times untill waiting for it to be made the 3rd time. Then the sandwich was stale so I asked for a refund. £9.50 for a stale sandwich with a spoon of coleslaw... Anyone thinking of a day out just bring a packed lunch. 3.5 for an orange juice aswell!! Rip off Rubbish would be 1 star but you can't do that.

So far is the best coffee shop in visited, plenty of choices , go for a sweet treat or some hot food, vegan and vegetarian options available and dog friendly.

Nice coffee, scones and flapjacks etc but could do with more food variety. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Nice atmosphere. I think access to public WiFi would be a good addition especially as the mobile coverage is so poor in Clumber. I look forward to seeing the café redesign when it's completed.

Hog roast wrap was not in a wrap ,in dry sliced bread. Stuffing rock hard. Tiny portion of pork which was also hard and tiny portion of apple sauce. Staff not directing people to coffee and cake counter regularly enough to ease the large queue. Customers clearing own tables outside. Not enough seating externally . Children's play area had several pieces of equipment out of use. For £15 spent on gate and nearly £8 for the "wrap" I was looking forward to eating something of quality and substantial fir the price. Very, very poor National trust. I used to love the reliability of Clumber Park. What happened???

Disappointed that the walled garden cafe is no longer. Otherwise had a lovely day sketching with friends in the glass houses before coffee on the main centre.

With over 20 miles of cycle paths, it's a great way of seeing and enjoying this National Trust Property. If you don't need to make use of the NT Car Parks it doesn't cost anything either (Free parking if you are a NT member).

I would like to offer a name change to Swan Park I have never seen more swans in one place!!! The following pictures are on the same day taken at the same time apart from the last one that was nice showing lots of swans in a row. What a great place to go also for a picnic
