Vico Equense in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Vico Equense, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Vico Equense offers classic Bay of Naples scenery, with dramatic cliffs, small beaches, and sweeping views of Mount Vesuvius and the Sorrento coastline. Its historic center has quiet lanes, seaside promenades, and landmarks such as the cliff-top Church of Santa Maria Annunziata. The town is known for traditional pizza and dairy products, and has several well-regarded restaurants and gelaterias. With a Circumvesuviana train station and nearby ferry connections, it’s a convenient base for visiting Sorrento, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast.
With favorites like Il Duomo, Basilica Sant'Antonino, and Saporì Pizza e qualcos'altro, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Wembley and Il Barrio osteria so you can get the best taste of Vico Equense while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Villa Comunale di Sorrento is a charming park that resembles a town square and is a popular attraction due to its exotic plantings, seasonal flowers, and large shady trees. The park offers panoramic views of the Bay of Naples, with tourists flocking to capture the endless coastal scenery. Visitors can enjoy sights such as Marina San Francesco, Marina Piccola, Marina Grande, and Mount Vesuvius from the park's railings.
Amazing view of the sea and beaches! We really loved it. You can take a beautiful photo and then walk down to the sea and the beaches. On the way down, you get to enjoy the views of the charming houses in the hills and all the stunning scenery around you. I’ve also added a photo of the sunbed and umbrella prices — not cheap, but pretty much the same as everywhere along the Sorrento coast.

Villa Comunale in Sorrento is a truly fantastic spot that offers some of the best views in the city. It's a great place to just relax and unwind, especially in the evening. We spent some time there watching the sunset, and it was a genuinely calm and soothing experience. The panoramic views of the entire Sorrento coast from the park are simply breathtaking. The way the light hits the water and the cliffs is beautiful, and it makes for a perfect place to just sit on a bench and take it all in. It's a simple pleasure, but a great way to end a day of sightseeing and escape the crowds for a bit.

Beautiful view of the sea. You can enjoy a coffee or some drinks at the local coffee shop. I ordered limoncelo spritz which was delicious and got some side snacks included, that were a treat!

A beautiful park with breathtaking views over the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Peaceful and relaxing, with lovely gardens and benches to sit and enjoy the scenery. A perfect spot for a quiet break in Sorrento.

A fantastic public park offering commanding, panoramic views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. It's a peaceful spot for a relaxing break. Crucially, the park features a dedicated elevator down to Marina Piccola (the port) and the beachfront, making cliff access quick and easy

Basilica Sant'Antonino is a centuries-old church located in Sorrento, Italy. Its Romanesque facade and grand nave with marble pillars and frescoes make it a sight to behold. The basilica's origins date back to the 11th century when it was built on the remains of a 9th-century oratory dedicated to Saint Antonino, the city's patron saint.
Stayed at an Airbnb right in the Square... excellent location to see it all within walking distance to restaurants, beach and ferry..

Quiet church with old paintings. St Antonio is a patron of sailors, fishermen and travelers. There are nice sea and sailoring themes inside. Don't forget to go downstairs near altar to pay visit to st Antonio himself. Must see if you consider traveller yourself. Free entry.

A beautiful church located quite in the city center of Sorrento. If you're visiting Sorrento during the summertime, there are A LOT of weddings that are held in this gorgeous basilica, so that's also a nice addition if you get a chance to take part in one.

Il Duomo, also known as the Cathedral of Saint Andrew, is a must-see in Amalfi. The cathedral is located in Piazza Duomo and offers a stunning display of architecture and history. In Sorrento, the historic center boasts attractions like the Romanesque cathedral called Il Duomo, dedicated to Saints Philip and James. This beautiful cathedral features remarkable artwork and statues, including one of Saint Rita of Cascia.
Raki near by had a very long line so we walked a few steps to find the place. They had great flavors and a bonus macaroon included in your purchase! My wife loved the Bounty(coconut and chocolate) flavor. Staff was friendly. We went 2 times in our 3 days stay. Would recommend!

The best lemon cake, lemon sorbet and gelato in Sorrento. Ask for Maria and Diego. Fantastic servers. They always bring little surprises. You won’t be disappointed.

We found this incredible Italian gelato shop on our first night in Sorrento. We came back all 3 nights of our stay. Maria was our beautiful host serving us the most delicious high quality gelato in over 20 flavors. She welcomed us each night with kindness and little extras and made our time in Sorrento extra special. They also serve a variety of other treats, drinks, food so plenty for everyone to enjoy. The shop is clean spacious with tables inside and outside. Location is so central to the heart of the Sorrento walking street. You will love this lovely shop.

We had the best gelato in Italy at Gelateria Il Duomo and the most delicious lemon cake prepared by Maria Rosa presented like a piece of art. Meraviglioso! We will be back, grazie.

Best Gelato in town! Me and my wife tried the “Ricotta cheese and Pear” gelato on our first night and we got addicted to it! We literally planned our next day in a way that we end it on a high with the same gelato. Unfortunately, the staff mentioned that the flavour was sold out. We got really bummed as we were actually waiting for the whole day to get our hands on the lovely gelato. After hearing our plight, fortunately, the lovely lady on the counter asked us to wait for 5 minutes. She came out with the fresh gelato of our beloved flavour and we relished every lick of it!!! Cheers to the staff, their kindness and love, and the amazing gelato they serve!!!

Museums
Museo Correale di Terranova is located in the heart of Sorrento, housed within the Palazzo Correale, a historical 18th-century villa. The museum showcases an extensive collection of art and artifacts across three floors and 24 rooms, with additional exhibition space in the attic.
A serene oasis in the heart of lively Sorrento! The Museo Correale di Terranova is wonderfully quiet, with only a few visitors wandering through its elegant halls. The collection of antiques is stunning—a graceful tribute to the legacy of the Medici and Correale families. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a peaceful escape from the bustling shops, restaurants, and traffic outside.
Tarah N — Google review
An excellent private collection given to the town. The archaeological rooms were closed when I visited but very much enjoyed the mainly 19th paintings of Sorrento and Naples and wished it looked more like that now rather than the present day chaos with the traffic and tourists. Some beautiful views from the villa across the Bay of Naples. You'll spend about an hour here.
Chris J — Google review
The grounds are beautiful and the archeological movie is the basement gave me some great perspective on what I was seeing around the town. If you follow the path all the way to the end you end up on a terrace of a very expensive hotel - Grand Hotel Ambasciatori Sorrento ($1,300€/night). Guess that view alone might be worth the $15€ admission each. The art and furniture displays are interesting but after everywhere we have been it's not really comparable to other options in the general area. No pictures of the art, furniture and collectibles displays as they ask that you don't take pictures.
Brian H — Google review
It's okay, it's a nice museum but hard to see the value for money here. 15 euros was quite a lot for very little. I would say that the marquetry on the furniture is amazing and it's good to see the historical furniture on show. The painting exhibition wasn't particularly well lit so we didn't feel that it was a pleasant experience overall.
Stephen K — Google review
Great place to see and learn about the origins of the city. It wont take much time to visit.
Richard R — Google review
You will need time to go through this Museum, which is a short walk from the Town centre. It has a very large collection of paintings, furniture, clocks and ceramics. Sadly there were few translations in English, except in the section on the excavations of Sorrento. However, one member of staff on watch, who spoke English, was really helpful when we came across an exquisite "multipurpose" ladies dressing table. Dore was really knowledgeable and told us so much about this interesting piece of furniture. The Correale has engaging gardens and grounds with pathways leading to a lovely cafe area overlooking the sea, though the cafe was shut when we were there.
Amy — Google review
Fascinating eclectic exhibitions of art and furniture in a fine old building that is now sadly quite neglected, as are the gardens. The entrance charge is quite high in comparison to far better museum/galleries. Nevertheless, an interesting visit providing an insight to the region's history.
Rent M — Google review
Beautiful exhibits detailing the vivid history of the region. For 8 Euros a person, this museum is a must if you're visiting Sorrento. Top it off with a leisurely stroll through their gorgeous garden - you will not regret it!

Visitors rave about their pistachio gelato and Delizia al Limone, praising the rich flavors and delightful textures.

This place is unbelievable! Always very busy, and popular with Italians and tourists alike. It's so much more than just Gelato. I watched many Italians order what turned out to be the Lemon delicia, so decided to try it and my word, it didn't disappoint. We all had dessert from here every night, no matter where we'd been prior.

I wanted to try everything on the menu—it all looked so tempting! In the end, I went for the classic Lemon Delicia, which was simply outstanding 👌💕👌. However, some friends in our group ordered the classic chocolate ice cream and weren’t as impressed.

In September 2024 my husband and I read an article in the New York Magazine by Tamara Shopsin about her trip back to Gabriele’s 14 years after her first visit to see if it was still the best gelato she had ever tasted (it was!). The article became the inspiration for our trip to Rome and Sorrento this October. We made 3 stops at Gabriele’s and it definitely was everything we hoped it would be. It is truly amazing. The yogurt gelato with fresh strawberries and whipped cream was a high point. Every flavor of gelato we tried was also wonderful as was the lemon delight dessert. There’s a full deli as well and we enjoyed the prosciutto and mozzarella rolls for a lunch break in between servings of gelato. Gabriele’s is absolutely 5 stars - not to be missed!

The Deliziosa al limone is something that everyone passing by there should try. We do so every time we are nearby. But it not the only thing. Not many place keep that level of tradition, passion, and quality as they do. I definitely recommend to everyone!!!

Omg, this place was beyond perfect!!! We ordered gelato and lemon delizia. Both were absolutely delicious. The only thing we’re upset about is not being able to try all the amazing pastries there. They all looked perfect, and I’m sure they tasted just as good!

Fantastic desserts and service at cheap prices. The gelato was tasty especially the nut topping which was crispy and sweet ! The lobster tail and lemon pastry was fresh and great quality, takeaway was packaged nicely. Staff were friendly and spoke English.

Wembley offers ample outdoor seating, satisfactory customer service, and consistently broadcasts football matches. The food is respectable and reasonably priced, making it a convenient option when in need. However, there are numerous other enticing establishments in the vicinity that may be worth exploring first. This bar has been frequented for evening aperitivo as well as breakfast occasions. The cuisine is enjoyable and the ambiance relaxed. While prices slightly surpass the average range, this can be attributed to its central location.
This is a beautiful bar and restaurant in the heart of Vico Equense. We went there as a group, a couple of times, last July (I thought I uploaded this then but there was a tech error), the first time for lunch and the second for drinks, to watch the England vs Switzerland game. The food was delicious, all made with quality and fresh products, the drinks were strong and tasty. The owner is the best, very friendly, really lovely, funny and entertaining man with a lot of stories to share about the Italian national team (some of the footballers are from the area and he knows them!). He knows the area very well, so it was good to get some tips on what to do, weekly local market etc. This is definitely a welcoming place, in a central location, great for drinks and food! All dishes tasted delicious and you may want to try: gnocchi alla sorrentina (very very tasty) and their various bruschette. Drinks: Limoncello spritz, Hugo, Falanghina and Aperol Spritz. They also sell Limoncello in really lovely bottles and it tastes great. We will definitely visit again.

This restaurant looked great at first, but when we ordered and our food came out my friend had a LARGE glass shard in her sand which. I have absolutely no idea how that happened but throughout our dinner we heard glass breaking multiple times and no worker even flinched. They also charged her for her sandwich and were not nice and ignored us multiple times when asking for the bill.
Marisa K — Google review
Avoid Getting the rosemary oil bruschetta. It was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen being served in a restaurant. It was just a big peace of toast with the tiniest bit of grated cheese. I couldn’t contain my disappointment when it was served at the table. My boyfriend ordered the capriciosa pizza that had cubes of regular ham instead of prosciutto, basil that looked a week old and no artichokes as it said in the menu. We ate only because we were starving
Florencia C — Google review
Should have went with my gut instincts when we sat for 10 minutes with no service. Finally we asked for pizza only to be told, they don't serve pizza till 7pm, we're in Italy right??? So I ordered a flatbread which was a tortilla served dry with prosciutto, mozzarella (that was not melted) and a sorry looking tomato that should have been peppers. When I asked for sauce, as in marinara, I was given a ketchup and mayonnaise packet. Are you friggin kidding??? Sad and waste of money!
Deb V — Google review
Wow! Some varied reviews here but we found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. If there are no seats upstairs (seating is limited inside) then there is plenty of space on the lower floor. Beer and cocktails were good and so was the bruschetta.
Mike T — Google review
It’s funny, am I paying or asking for free food? I went with my girlfriend to this restaurant and we were completely ignored by the attendant 3 times. He just looked into our faces and ignored us. Besides that, the food and drinks came fast, which is a good point, but the pizza almost has no taste and it was not even sliced. I have ate pizzas at Rome, Genova, Pescara and definitively at Wembley’s was the worse. Even Paris pizzas are better. The worst part was to watch an elder attendant yelling at a new girl who I supposed was a new employee. She was having difficulties and he humiliated her in front of all customers. Sad. Two stars only for the good location and agility to serve (after being ignored 🤦🏻‍♂️).
Fernando M — Google review
Food was dry and bland, then to top it off it had a hair in it! Waitress came over and offered a replacement meal. I said I’d rather another drink instead, which they charged us for! The young waiter also seemed more interested in loitering with his mates outside than working

Il Barrio osteria is an incredible dining establishment that offers a wide array of delectable seafood dishes. The fried calamari rings and grilled shrimp are particularly mouthwatering, while the catch of the day and prawn pasta are also highly recommended. The restaurant staff goes above and beyond by inquiring about any potential food allergies. Additionally, the ambiance of the outdoor courtyard, adorned with orange and lemon trees, adds to the overall charm of this delightful eatery.
Excellent food with incredibly fresh seafood and ingredients! My partner had raw shrimp with tomato sauce—an unexpected but amazing combo. I had pasta with clams, and you could really taste the freshness in every bite. The wine pairings were spot on, thanks to the staff’s great recommendations. The place has a cozy, welcoming vibe that’s perfect for a casual date night or a relaxed family meal. Highly recommend if you’re looking for top-quality seafood and a warm atmosphere!

The best meal we’ve had in Amalfi coast! And the service, added to the overall charm. Sitting under lemon trees, we were served the freshest seafood. We ordered the pumpkin tartlets, their signature Cacio Pepe with Prawn Tartare and pan-style fish with pesto and toasted nuts - stunning. To top it all, we had the dessert of the day - lemon meringue tart which was made from the lemons from the tree we were sitting under. Highly recommend the place and make a reservation, we were lucky to walk in on a weekday. Our table was served by lovely Sashi and a bearded Italian gentleman who suggested the best wine to go with the overall feast, a fine crew. Thanks for making it a memorable evening!

Hands down the best experience we had during our whole Sorrento and Vico Equense trip! The outdoor area felt dreamy — exactly the vibe places O Parrucchiano La Favorita try to create, but without the cheesy, overdone feel. The service was on another level. Everyone who served us was amazing — attentive and friendly! Our waiter, Raphaële, was truly one of a kind. He gave us incredible recommendations and made sure each of us absolutely loved our meals. And the food… unreal. The beef tartare was the best we’ve ever had, the pork ragù was perfect, and the cacio e pepe with shrimp tartare was just as amazing. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Amazing meal! Had the truffle tagliatelle and pork ragu - one of our best meals in Italy. The location was gorgeous in a lemon and orange grove. Raffaele took great care of us! Make your reservation now.

Went here because it was a cold windy and rainy day and they had an indoor area. But it turns out that was booked. However the way the garden is setup it was clam, warm and dry. The service was lovely and friendly and polite. Food was great. Would recommend.

What an amazing setting and beautiful food and service. The courtyard full of lemon and orange trees that hang around and above you as you eat adds to the special atmosphere. We dined at night so it was dark which only added to that special atmosphere. We hadn't booked so sat having an espresso martini as we waited for a table. I should add that the staff were so attentive without being overbearing, so very welcoming. My lamb was beautiful and my wife said her tagliatelle with sausage was equally as beautiful. This unique restaurant is a must visit if in Vico. It was the evening before the big match so I got a bit of football chat with the chef when we were leaving. When we found out we were Scottish we got an extra warm exchange. Thank you McTominay and Gilmour Again the warm welcome and beautiful surroundings make this a must visit when in Vico Equense

Nestled in the heart of Sorrento, A'Marenna - Sorrento Bakery & Bistrot is a delightful gem run by two spirited local women. This charming bakery and bistro boasts a rustic ambiance that invites you to unwind while savoring their generously filled panini crafted from fresh ingredients, served on ciabatta or panuozzo pizza-dough bread. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by lively music and singing from the owners, creating an enjoyable dining experience.
Without a doubt the most incredible sandwich I have ever eaten in my entire life! 🤩 I ordered through the app and would highly recommend doing this if you're eager to get a sandwich at lunchtime and skip the queues.😌 otherwise the line will take between 30-60 mins.. although it's most definitely worth the wait! The owners are the most fabulous ladies 😍 they burst into song when I went in to collect my sandwich! A lovely surprise on my birthday 🙈😄 This is one place that you cannot miss if visiting Sorrento! I'll dream about this sandwich for a long time to come ❤️

The best hot sandwiches you’re ever going to eat! Full of filling and flavour! Freshly made to order. Friendly service and fun atmosphere. We made it just ahead of the lunchtime queue, still a little wait but well worth it!

Brest sandwich ever, super fresh and really good ingredients. The owners are very welcoming and you can tell that they love what they do. Also the atmosphere is really cool, you can eat there or take away. Definitely a must visit if you are staying in Sorrento or near.

A small but lovely place! The paninis are absolutely amazing — with different types of bread, options for every taste (including vegan ones), and great ingredients. We’ve eaten here during our trip around Naples, and these were the best sandwiches of the whole trip. You can eat at the counter or on the small tables outside, and they don’t charge the cover fee, which is rare in Italy. The service is fast, the staff is super friendly and always smiling, and the nice music makes the atmosphere perfect. 100% recommended for a quick and delicious meal while visiting Sorrento.

Plain and simple best sandwich ive had in a long time. My wife and i split the Antonio it was excellent. I have two minor complaints 1) sandwich took forever but thats because how busy it is and def worth wait 2) the shop is small To cancel these small complaints Drinks are $5 euro and $6 euro for aperol spritz and limoncello spritz so you can have a nice cheap drink while waiting also the two woman making the sandwiches were so nice and made it fun as they dance and sing along while we Wait it was fun and cute atmosphere

beautiful little sandwich shop, with lots of options.... The girls working are very helpful, cheerful and give the place a special charm. the prices for this kind of product are decent, and definitely great value for money... And a special experience is when the music starts.... we will definitely come back here...

I was only in Sorrento for 3 days and came here 2x - it’s that good. Best sandwich I’ve ever had and I went to all the popular spots in Rome and Florence. #5 was my favorite but you can’t go wrong with any of them. Every single person there walked out saying “that was the best sandwich of my life” - I’m not exaggerating. I’m traveling solo and the ladies made me feel like family. Remembered me and my order when I went back the vibe there is just so positive and upbeat. You cannot miss this place when in Sorrento and you have to go more than once.

Outstanding little restaurant serving the most amazing toasted sandwiches and filled ciabattas. Two lovely ladies own and run this wonderful cafe and one broke into song while making the sandwiches. Such a delightful happy place to have a delicious lunch. The limoncello spritz is to die for 😆

Pizza restaurant
Saporì Pizza e qualcos'altro is a renowned pizzeria located in Seiano, boasting stunning views of the Gulf of Naples and Vesuvio. Specializing in fried pizzas like San Marzano dop and Margherita, as well as oven-baked options, this restaurant offers a beautiful outdoor seating area. Situated within a five-star hotel, it exudes an intriguing ambiance with its terrace. However, some accessibility issues arise due to high and uncomfortable patio benches.
Amazing food, lovely waiters & a beautiful view. We’ve been twice now and absolutely love it!

The place is gorgeous, and the food was delicious, but the service was awful. I’ve never seen such rude behavior from a waiter before. Maybe he was having a bad day, but he was rude. On the other hand, the gentleman with the darker skin tone was so kind and polite. It was really disappointing to witness.

The location is stunning. Very pretty during sunset. We even had a fire work display during dinner. One thing to note: the Ciummarella - half tray says it feeds 4 people. I chose this option thinking I’d have some left overs but I was sadly given 4 large squares of the ciummarella that would absolutely not feed 4 people. I had it all by myself and felt satisfied after. Could maybe be shared among two people if you weren’t super hungry. Tasted so good tho.

A super relaxing spot with a beautiful outdoor ambiance. We started with the amazing Cacio e Pepe Corquette, Fiori di zucca, and Ceasar Salad. Following we had the Homage to Bologna, which was my favorite, and the Ariccia. Our waiter Vincenzo was excellent! Great spot if your staying nearby, especially for groups.

Absolutely beautiful location & very attentive staff. We all loved our experience and will definitely be returning before we have to head back to the UK. Will recommend on trip advisor so more people know about this beautiful place. Tha k you .

Beautifully located pizzeria, slightly off the main thoroughfares, with an excellent view over the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. Staff are extremely attentive and friendly allowing you to enjoy the atmosphere and setting. The food is excellent, one of the best pizzas I've ever had and everything else is to a similar standard. Recommend making a booking as it is extremely popular, especially later in the evening. No bookings are available on Saturday, so be prepared to wait - there is an incredible bar attached to the hotel above. Prices are reasonable and there is an excellent selection of local wines. Card payments are accepted but do note that, as with many restaurants, tipping should be in cash.

The restaurant is located in five star hotel. It’s appearance and terrace are very intriguing although has poor accessibility and the patio benches are very high and uncomfortable. We tried neapolitan mixed fried appetizers that some of them were just batter balls and also fiore di zucca which the filled cheese tasted terrible. However, the restaurant pizza is great. The pizza crust is very airy, thin, and crispy. We had sant'ilario, l'estiva and il conciato, all of them were very delicious and also reasonable.

Sapori Pizza is very famous in the surroundings. The quality of food, the setting, the service is near perfect. We enjoyed every moment of our visit and those special Pizzas we ordered very tasty. The taste of bread and the taste of ingredients were wonderful. The combination of eggplant and cheese is so delicious.
