Bastia in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Bastia, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Bastia, on Corsica’s northeast coast, mixes a lively working port with an atmospheric old town of narrow lanes, baroque churches and faded pastel facades. Its Vieux Port is framed by cafes and overlooked by the citadel quarter of Terra Nova, which offers sea views and small museums. The city is known for its Corsican charcuterie, cheeses and wines, featured in bustling markets like Place du Marché. Bastia also serves as a convenient gateway to the wild Cap Corse peninsula and the island’s mountain villages.
With favorites like U Paese, Place Louis Vincetti - Piazza Luigi Vincetti, and Oratoire Saint-Roch (San Roccu), we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like A Scaletta and Brasserie Le Palais des Glaces so you can get the best taste of Bastia while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Place Saint Nicolas is a lively seafront square in Bastia, featuring regular festivals and a weekend flea market. The 280m long and 80m wide square offers charming attractions such as Maison Matei where you can purchase local liquors and specialties. Visitors can also admire the conning tower of the submarine Le Casabianca displayed opposite the ferry port. The square is perfect for people-watching, enjoying meals at cafes, indulging in Italian ice cream, or having refreshing drinks.
Beautiful place bordered by an avenue. You can sit in the shade, there are a variety of restaurants and bars. We were allowed to attend the fireworks on July 14, great atmosphere, highly recommended.

Huge main square in Bastia. Toward the port are parking spaces . Surranded by trees, there are planty of bars and restaurants in the shade. On Sunday you can find flea market and also different resellers. We checked it and then grabed a coffee. In the evenings is emptier, you should check the old market by the main church or marina with restaurants.
Rok S — Google review
Nice plaza to walk around with plenty of bars / restaurants. Worth looking behind the main square to get real feel of the city and it's quaint back streets and bars which are just as good but easier on the wallet.

Very nice clean Place with statues Market and lots of cafe style tables. Mature trees and shade if needed

Place to explore when you are waiting for your ferry. There was a flea market on Sunday morning. You can grab coffee and snacks from nearby shops.
Kushant V — Google review
We were there, when the yearly salon de chocolat was happening, a sort of trade fair surrounding the production of chocolate and sweets in Corsica. This was worth it. Otherwise its a lively space with lots of cafés and restaurants right next to the harbour. Heart of the town.

A good place to park, close to shops and the citadel. I recommend parking inside to beat the heat. The entrance to the underground portion is close to the exit on the right, so, it is a little confusing.

Mattei Concept Store is a captivating establishment that used to be a club, exuding a distinct ambiance. The store offers an extensive selection of beverages, including both local and international options, giving patrons the opportunity to indulge in tastings. Currently awaiting their bar license approval, it's exciting to imagine the possibilities for further enhancing this already beautiful location.
Well worth just calling in, even if its just to see the way the shop is displayed.

A beautiful store with a unique atmosphere (it used to be a club). They have a wide range of drinks, not only local ones, and you can taste some of them. The establishment has a pending application for a bar license, can't wait to see what they will do with the place once they have it!

The Office de Tourisme Intercommunal de Bastia proved to be highly beneficial for visitors, as it provided Emile with easy transportation options and resulted in a successful visit. The center also displayed helpfulness by addressing both common and unique inquiries from guests. Furthermore, the staff members were friendly, considerate, and accommodating. Overall, the center's services left a positive impression on its patrons.
Very helpful center, plenty of information and maps - plus we were able to buy our concert tickets let’s there for the evening show in a church .

The train left late (15 minutes after the scheduled departure time). We had to walk and stand at least 30 minutes - we travelled only 10-15 minutes by the train. This was not a train trip, and we did not get previously any correct information about that. The office gave us a satisfaction questionnaire which was only in French, and we did not get any compensation.
Anikó S — Google review
Just came back from a holiday in Corsica, I must say the place is totally stunning and full of wilderness and character but the welcoming to tourists is almost totally not existent. Arrived on a Sunday morning at 7am by boat from Italy, no public transport available until Monday at 6:30 am…. 😱 the only available method of transport around the area is taxi which costs 90€ for half an hour journey to saint Florent… it seems it’s all planned so that the trekking tourists are totally left with very high transportation bills and no support from the local Corse touristic board. Really sad, as this is an absolutely amazing place to be but a shot to the head with transport pricing. Be aware!!

If you want more information than just the "petit train de Bastia", you're better off asking elsewhere, or simply searching online.. it doesn't seem like this office deals with Bastia tourists. I understand that most people coming to the island drive, and Bastia is merely a stop in their trip, but can't you have more information for the few that decide not to drive? No recommendation of beaches to go to, actually we were told that they had no clue on how the beaches are like???!!! They advise you to wait for a "minibus" to take you to l'Arinella, that comes every 2 hours.. and when it arrives, a 6-seater vehicle shows up, first 2 families standing took all the 6 availvlf seats .. would anyone call that a minibus I understand that the city wants to mostly cater for people that rent cars .. but can't you have at least someone with little more knowledge for tourists that choose not to rely on cars? I'd advise anyone coming to Bastia to simply search online and gather information from the big mess that is the web, because this office will give you no additional knowledge beyond that

Bastia Offices De Tourisme Attention to cheat and to your security!! One of the worst experience in my life. A place full of incompetent people. My girlfriend and I took electric bike two times. During our second trip they gave us a bike with the front wheel a bit broken (we didn't notice it at a first time), so after riding for some time it suddenly exploded. My girlfriend risked to have a serious accident and be hit by cars. We tried to explain what happened and they just answered "It happens also if you drive a car to have an accident. Now you have to pay the damage". So they wanted us to pay 105 euros to change the wheel. But that's not all folks! While I was paying the 105 euros, I discovered just by chance that they took 300€ from my credit card on our first trip. They tried to cheat me. Fortunately they gave me back the cash. I know that this story seems invented, but I have all the receipts to prove it. Trust me, don't go there!!

Nestled in the heart of Corsica, Église Saint Jean-Baptiste stands as a remarkable historic Catholic church that captivates visitors with its stunning opulence. As you approach from the Old Port, its grand facade and twin bell towers soaring to 70 meters are impossible to overlook. Inside, you'll be greeted by an enchanting atmosphere adorned with intricate frescoes crafted by renowned Florentine artists Olimpio Bandinelli and Oreste Malfanti back in 1870.
Main cathedral now, when the town of Bastia grew. It is partly hiidden in a small alley because of the houses in front of it, but still large enough to dominate over the port. A nice hideout from summer heat and to find peace. It is a little dark but in stead of frescoes on the ceiling you can marvel church ornamentation from stone carvings.

Best delicious Corsican flavours we had on our travels around the island in such a gorgeous restaurant with beautiful views from the terrace. my wife recommends the lamb confi, I loved the tuna

We really enjoyed our dinner at A Scaletta - we waited 15 minutes for a table outside the little balcony and it was worth it! We had some buratta, tartar, shellfish and duck with a view and a nice rosé from Corsica. The service was also very kind. Unfortunately the duck was more well done than medium. We would definitely recommend the restaurant.

Maybe the best octopus plate I‘ve eaten. It was creamy, dressing was perfect and risotto as side simply tasty! We also had the filet de loup which was really great as well. And Focaccia as starter to share just perfect. Added to a very nice service; no need to look for another place.

Café Au Palais Des Glaces is a charming spot located in Bastia, offering both outdoor and indoor seating with art-nouveau decor. It's a popular choice for a quick break or leisurely afternoon. The reasonably priced menus du jour, delicious ice cream desserts, and well-presented coffees make it a favorite lunch spot for many. Visitors have praised the seafood poke bowl and highly recommend trying the ice cream, especially the sorbet varieties.
We had great ice cream in the shade sitting below trees and right next to the ferry departure. The service was great and did not hesitate to pull several tables together for our nine person group.

Upsetting and insulting experience. I wanted to dine here, because my travelbook recommended it. Beside a few older couples the terrace was basically empty. My boyfriend was on the way and I chose a nice table at the square. The very rude waiter made me leave the table, because it was a larger table. He laughed with disdain and surprise that I even considered sitting there. He pointed me to a table in the back and told me to sit there. I thanked him and he even got pissed. I felt very uncomfortable because he was very rude (not the french directness, but really insulting). Bad vibes at this spot.
Marjolijn V — Google review
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! The food was somewhat okey, but while the place was mostly empty except for some boomers, the waiters were extremely rude, insulting and derogatory. After asking for a manager they said there weren't any available (I think he was inside some some tax stuff).

Terrible burnt overpriced coffee. We were charged 10euros for black coffee with ice.
Tereza H — Google review
Good experience until I was given the bill. They tried to add 2x desserts valued at €18, which should have been included in the Menu Corse. When I pointed it out the staff member at the cash register, left asked a waiter and I was told that it was a mistake and the bill was adjusted accordingly.

For a satisfying break at an outdoor cafe overlooking Bastia's ferry port, or just inside the art-nouveau-decorated interior restaurant, Café au Palais des Glaces is a pleasant spot for a quick pause, or a nice place to while away an afternoon. Reasons that Cafe au Palais des Glaces is my husband's go-to lunch spot when working out of his Bastia office include the reasonably priced, delicious menus du jour, ice cream desserts and coffees all attractively presented with low-key good service. I love that one can have lunch there long after long most other places have stopped serving lunch for the day. Open year round both locals and tourists frequent Café au Palais des Glaces.

Restaurant that is intimate, has character that is paired with delicous food. We finished our meal with Tarte Tatin which was so worth the wait to get. It was stunning and showed the talent and love with which they prepared the food for us. The Tatin will forever remain a life long memory of this trip. Music selection was great as well. Wine was good. Views over the harbour are wonderful and just complimented the whole night. Walking around the area is magical end to the evening.

I came across this place walking in the Citadel in May 2024. I was looking for a place that served a particular dish. There were a couple of guys sitting outside. One of them - turns out he was the owner - told me the dish was out of season (later confirmed by two other places). After walking around for a bit, I headed back, ordered a couple of classic Corsican dishes, and a glass of red. The food was fantastic and copious. The wine excellent. The owner – Andy, I think –is gruff, incredibly welcoming, and very entertaining once the conversation starts flowing. It felt like his space - home even - and not some generic touristy spot. Ended up at the bar speaking to him and a few other customers for nearly 3 hours. In short, go there! I'll definitely go back.

Very nice position with nice view. I had a dish called "Squid and Chorizo". Nice idea but it was definitely too salty! Honestly I could not eat to the end.. The quality/price was acceptable, a bit too expensive for what we had. A final negative note to the service: the two waiters were friendly, but unfortunately always busy and difficult to reach. No-one came to ask if we like it or not. And we waited almost half an hour to have the bill! We asked two times until we decided to make a "block" at the entrance door.. Unbelievable, we left a bit disappointed

We had the strangest experience. First off, in Corsica - don't go anywhere without a reservation because most restaurant apparently don't take tourists, even with the place practically empty. We were looking for a nice place to eat and with the good reviews for this place we opted for A Casarella. Upon arrival half the restaurant was empty but when we asked for a table, without reservation we were shown the door. We walked around for a few minutes in the area looking for other options, but as it was a Monday most places were either closed or also asking for a reservation. We found ourselves back at A Casarella and as a joke decided to call - "no problem, when would you like to come?" Seem waiter who showed us the door earlier, without blinking an eye seated us to a table. Why still 3 stars? We had a fun night, the location is good, the food tasty (but very oily) and the people serving our table were friendly and funny. We won't be back.

The meal was good, some dishes were even delicious (aubergine a la parmigiana) but the service wasn't that great: they forget to bring us one dish ,the plates for kids, desserts menu(at the end we abandoned the dessert)...the ideea was that after we have ordered they "forgot' about us. Probably because just one single person was handling the orders and she was overwhelmed. Beside these the location was very nice.

Ordered a Pizza Frutti di Mare and received a pizza with only cheese on it. After asking, the staff took the rest of my pizza away and then told me, that's the way, Pizza Frutti di Mare is served on Corsica. It's not, shame on you.

Outdoor Activities
Plage de l'Arinella, located near Bastia, is a beautiful sandy beach that offers a range of family-friendly activities. Visitors can enjoy water sports such as windsurfing and sailing, and there's even a children's playground at the southern end of the beach. The clear waters make it perfect for snorkeling, and there are plenty of opportunities for other activities like jet skiing. Parking is free with shaded areas available, and there are also dining options nearby.
Top beach. Need to stop if you come to Bastia.

This beach appeared to be quite empty in mid-July. Not the cleanest sand and water, but good enough for a short stay and refreshing swim. Public toilet is available. Some kiosks are also available.
Maria T — Google review
A sandy beach approximately 3km south of Bastia. A free mini-bus takes visitors to/from the Bastia Tourist Information Office - runs approximately three times per hour. The walk itself, if you’re up for it, is very picturesque, with frequent benches etc. The beach itself isn’t pretty - not helped by flooding from the waterspout that hit the area the day before!!! Showers on the beach are provided and there are two bar-cafés selling basic food - hot sandwiches and deep fried offerings. Toilets are available for customers of these establishments only. If you have a car you wouldn’t visit here.

Citadelle de Bastia, also known as Citadella di Bastia, is a charming place with lovely restaurants and beautiful surroundings near the old port. Visitors can use an elevator or take the beautiful stairs to explore the area. The citadel features a delightful herb garden offering stunning views of the old harbor. It's recommended to take the elevator by the harbor for easy access. The site offers a magical experience with great views of the old port and city, making it well worth a visit.
These tiny streets are very cool to explore, eventually leading down to the harbour. Quite a few little cafes around with very friendly owners.

Hidden behind the city walls is the old part of the town. Here was the power centre of Republic of Genoa over the island. Explore the narrow streets, enjoy the view on harbor/marina now, have a coffee, spend a nice afternoon.

The old Citadel has lots of hidden bars amongst the narrow streets. Plenty to see and lots of informative boards around the area. Museum close by and well worth a visit but check opening times (12-00 to 14:00 closed). A number of very good cafés and restaurants near the main square and good views over the marina.

Catedrale Santa Maria Assunta is a significant religious site in Bastia, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's rich cultural and historical heritage. Visitors can explore the church's unique features and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of reverence within its walls.
Great cathedral from end of 15th century. The most important altar is a Maria's, entirely made of silver. And lovbedthe one in back, made of stone, John the Baptist with Jesus.

Beautiful cathedral in Bastia, close to The Citadel. Both French and Italian influences. I particularly loved the ceremonial hats of the former bishops (all of whom are now buried in the crypt) suspended from the arches by both sides of the choir. Really peaceful - until the peace was ruined by a coach load of loud-speaking, camera-flash using tourists. Would have given five stars if they had someone on hand to prevent such disrespect behaviour.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful cathedral which houses several beautiful paintings, a magnificent altar dedicated to the Virgin Mary and above all a silver statue for the Virgin Mary. The only small downside, the coin mechanism system to be able to light the cathedral. Of course it pays for the electricity but when some people come home and the light goes out, they think it's closing... Funny. Specialty Museums
Nestled within the historic Palais des Gouverneurs, the Musée de Bastia - Museu di Bastia serves as a captivating gateway into the rich tapestry of Bastia's past. This prominent museum showcases an array of exhibits that delve into the city's political and cultural evolution, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Its striking orange facade is hard to miss, especially when you find yourself at Place du Donjon, which also sets the stage for further exploration of the citadel.
A must see place in Bastia: its history together with that of Corsica are fascinatingly explained, with lots of local artists and personalities represented here! Superb ticket price (5 euros) that gives you access to the rooftop of the museum (good views of the city and a small garden).
Ricard G — Google review
Not very tourist friendly, starting from the receptionist, who doesn't speak basic English to all artifacts that are not clearly labelled and everything is in French, or Corsican dialect. They are also not very well lit. The view it's lovely from the gardens and from the windows.
Tania M — Google review
The museum showcased a rich tapestry of artifacts and paintings spanning the past few centuries of Bastia’s history, offering glimpses into the lives of the city’s elite and, curiously, a nod to Napoleon IV. The layout was well-lit and thoughtfully arranged, making it easy to navigate. The staff were doing their thing, pleasant enough, and mildly helpful in that “I’m technically here” kind of way. One notable drawback: the artifact descriptions were only in French. While the broader section summaries had English translations, the treasures themselves remained mysteriously untranslated. A few English captions could go a long way in opening the experience to a wider world.
N.O.D M — Google review
A lovely museum that has explanations in English, Italian, French and local Corsu. For the price of 5€, you stsr to understand this politically relevant city through time, and even see it evolve throughout that time. It was an interesting visit, and to see the cultural and political influence Corsica and Bastia had on the island and regions around. A lovely rooftop garden makes for a perfect retreat.
Dylan F — Google review
Wonderful museum of Bastiais history. Lots of beautiful and unique artifacts. Super cool walk through the citadelle, with a viewing plaza at the top. Description panels for artifacts are mostly in French, but historical explanations are in French, Italian, English and Corsican. Definitely will visit again!
Renée T — Google review
It is cheap and has AC so it is definitely a good choice in a summer afternoon. The permanent exposition is quite bland but the current ( August 2025) Napoleone IV exposition was interesting and talked about a lesser know (by me) historical tragic figure.
Emiliano V — Google review
The museum was really easy to walk through, the permanent collection was very good, even if I would have liked to get a bit more informations about the paintings. (Such as the dimensions, informations about the stories behind them ect and not only about the painters). My friend and I went there mainly for the new temporary exposition about ‘Napoleon IV’ (Napoleon IV, le prince Corse oublié), which was really interesting, had a lot of pieces, a lot of informations ect about that dear ‘Napoleon IV’ and even clothing pieces which were beautiful. The staffs of the museum were really kind, professional and guided us when we got lost while looking for the garden 🤣 The only flaw was the path of the visit which was a bit messy, you had to follow number to find where you had to go next (and that was a good idea instead of signs) but also you could go how you liked and end from room 10 (per exemple) to room 14 in a single step, making it easy to pass some parts. Beside that it was perfect, a really good experience.

Chez Vincent is a must-visit in Bastia, located at 12 rue St. Michel with a terrace offering stunning views of the harbor. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring Corsican cuisine, pizzas, burgers, fish dishes, and more. The cozy stop is known for its inventive Mediterranean cuisine and charming decor.
This place is fantastic. I stumbled upon it as I was exploring the Citadelle. One way up is the elevator from the port level. Then a short spiral staircase et Voila! Staff was super. They were kind about our lack of French language skills. Seated us alfresco on a beautiful night. The maitre d works really hard to accommodate all the guests. The gentleman at the cocktail bar was super cool. I had two Martinis. Superb. We had some scorpionfish ceviche, fish of the day (dorade) and Supreme de Poulet. Very savory and delicious. Finished off with a liqueur de myrte. Delicious! Go here! Great view of the port. Very lively, energetic and fun.

4 star resort and spa? Avoid. The ac doesn't work. The rooms are small and in need of refurbishment. The 'Spa' features are low rent. The massage, for example, a joke. No idea why it gets such good reviews. Avoid at all costs. If it was priced at 50 percent, you might stay one night on transit, in a pinch. The location is in a kind of industrial zone 20 mins drive from Bastia.
Jonathan B — Google review
The receptionist was very friendly, but apart from that our stay was disappointing. The Spa Area is just a small swimming pool and our room could have needed a renovation (the bathroom fittings were partially broken, the TV Screen was heading towards the Window and couldn’t be moved and the seal at the balcony door was partly gone) All in all extremly overpriced in my opinion.
Chrissi — Google review
The staff and restaurant are perfect... But the hotel is not well located (especially if you do not have a car). The restaurant on the beach can be reached thanks to the hotel personnel driving back and forth and you can spend a lovely day at the beach, eating yummy things in a great environment (the downstairs is better than the tapas upstairs). All in all I found it very expensive given that we had a small room on the second floor facing a parking lot but I liked the beach part and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff very much

Bedbugs! I saw them in the room and left. The staff is unhelpful. The place is mismanaged. They didn’t seem to care and had no manager available.

This hotel was an incredible value. Blown away by #1 the spacious rooms #2 the delicious restaurant #3 the free cookies #4 the views #5 the friendly English/french/Corsican speaking staff and #6 the pricetag. I had low expectations considering what we paid but I will definitely be staying here again the next trip to the Haute-Corse. The spa services were great. The pool was overrun with children most of the time, but I didn't hate it. Super close to a lovely beach and if you're facing the water, you'll have the most marvelous sunsets and moonrises. Very glad we came!

After spending 10 days around the Cote d'Azur & the formula 1 in Monaco I booked this hotel for a change of pace. First off as others have said the service is 5 star all the staff went out of there way to help you, always a please & thankyou. I arrived & was given a map & the lift was broke but some one carried my suitcase up 4 floors for me. The food in the restaurant at night is exceptional, very surprised, the breakfast is average. The carpet on the stairs is old and unpleasent & the doors connecting the floors to the stairs is very close, 1 step out if you are not looking, you will fall down the stairs. My room was nice, big & clean, the hot tub in the spa was warm but the swimming pool was very cold. The beach was a 15 minute walk away & is nice enough but no public toilets anywhere, so I had to keep walking back to the hotel. The big downside for me is the area, no shops, restaurants or any civilization, I got quite bored after my first day. All in all its a lovely hotel & worth a stay but, if the weather is bad you are really stuck with nothing.

Really good level of the hotel. Everything here was top. Room, breakfast, wellness, garden, staff of the hotel... Only the location of the hotel is a disadvantage. It is in not very interesting part of Bastia To the beach it's not a short way. Because of the highway around the shore, you need to walk 1,2 km. Through one underpass, through railway station, 100 m along the rails etc. To the nearest supermarket it is 1,4 km. Without a car it is not very comfortable here.

An excellent restaurant, which is highly recommended! I really liked the great and attentive service. The food was very nice including the atmosphere under the trees.

I had a great experience at this restaurant! As a starter, I had the aubergine dish, which was incredibly tasty and fresh. For the main course, I chose the truffle pasta – absolutely delicious! Both dishes were full of flavor, made with high-quality ingredients, and the price/performance ratio was spot on. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The outdoor seating area is also really nice a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the food. Highly recommended!

Went for an early lunch on our way to the airport. Both of us had a risotto which was just perfect. No remarks whatsoever! The rest of the menu had some great options as wellbut one can eat only so much. Staff was friendly and serving with a smile. Highly recommended!

Honestly we had different plans for tonight but finally we found this place and read their menu, and it looked all veeery tasty. They found a table for us even with no reservation, very kind :) The dishes were all good and so was the wine. Service is very attentive. Also, the terrace in the small square next to the fountain is suggestive.

Excellent restaurant, highly recommended! I liked the nice service but especially the good: basic and very good quality with a special Marocain twist. Try the tuna tartare and the ice creams, they are really nice. Very nice and pleasant atmosphere/interior as well!

A bit too expensive for what they offer. Food was ok but not especially tasty. One dish was a bit cold. The waiter didn’t bring us the right wine so we had to pay extra. I think that since it was their mistake they should cover the difference.

Great place with nice atmosphere and super good food, highly recommended. The tuna was fresh and very soft, while the meat was extremely juicy and tasty.

Oratoire Saint-Roch (San Roccu)

Place of worship
Oratoire Saint-Roch, also known as San Roccu, is a small church in the heart of Bastia that dates back to 1604. This charming gem showcases the opulence of Ligurian baroque with its red damasks and religious splendor. The interior is adorned with beautifully carved walnut panels and a main altarpiece painted by Giovanni Bilivert in 1626.

Some decorative excesses today border on the ridiculous, others speak of virtuosity that would be difficult to replicate: all this in just a few square metres! (Translated by Google) Walking along Rue Napoléon it is possible that you pass in front of the Oratory of San Rocco without even noticing. Yet this small church is a little jewel and manages to condense in a few square meters the opulence of a Ligurian baroque (with its red damasks), the religious splendor and also a considerable artistic richness, which is fully expressed in the altar and in the Finished and gilded walnut organ. The reference to Italian Neoclassicism is strong and it is no coincidence that in the mid-seventeenth century the Oratoire de la Confrérie de Saint-Roch was chosen as the main building for Corsican youth devoted to the confraternity of Santa Croce, then led exclusively by Genoese. Entrance is free.

Nestled in the heart of Bastia, the Oratoire de l’Immaculée Conception is a stunning example of Baroque architecture that captivates visitors with its opulent interior. (Translated by Google) Splendid church in the center of Bastia, recognizable by a tastefully decorated external floor but very sober on the outside, you almost don't notice it. However, if you let yourself be attracted and approach the entrance door, you will see something superlative. The church dates back to 1600, in Baroque style, and is dedicated to the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception. It is wonderful overall and in every detail. It was certainly an unexpected and breath-taking visit for me. PS: In Bastia, in the center, you will find more churches than more Brotherhoods. Each Brotherhood has an objective and brings together a certain group of people, so as to guide children, then teenagers and then adults on their journey, moving from one to another. A beautiful thing. È stupenda nell'insieme e in ogni particolare.

Ghjesgia Santa Croce, also known as the Church of the Holy Cross, is a historic site in Bastia. Built in the 15th century on land belonging to the Basilica of Saint John Lateran, it was later rebuilt and now features a beautiful altarpiece depicting the Annunciation by Filiberto. The church is part of the Sainte Croix monastery and is considered the oldest Catholic church in Bastia.
If you explore the streets around the old cathedral you might find it. It is a good story about this chapel. The fishermen found a black cross with Jesus floating in Mediteranian see, rescued it and brought it to Bastia. They build this amazing chappel for it.

Le Mademoiselle is a charming eatery located in Bastia that specializes in authentic French cuisine. This lovely restaurant offers a modest yet impressive array of delectable dishes and refreshing cocktails. With no doubts the best restaurant in Bastia, ticking all the boxes when it comes to delighting guests: excellent food, central and idyllic location, the best warm and welcoming host. Starting with the food, the menu has a small and selected offer with daily dishes that vary according to the food availability (one day you have the seabass, another the tuna for instance). The common ground is the freshness and high quality of the food, sourced by the best producers. As a starter I highly recommend the « salad mademoiselle », made with freshly sliced tomatoes, some rocket and some homeade pesto sauce with a burrata gently placed on a tart..indeed perfection comes from simplicity! As main dishes you shall absolutely try their octopus, perfectly grilled and placed on a sweet potatoe mash to elevate the taste of the seafood. Also their meat dishes are worth trying. The location is in the center of Bastia in a calm road with other small restaurants. The building is an old palace renovated, surrounded by majestic trees that make the perfect atmosphere for a « al fresco » dinner, in the open patio. The host is extremely friendly and welcoming, very attentive in making sure his guests have the best experience. Value for money absolutely excellent. You can’t miss it when you come to Bastia!

Le Petit Vincent is a charming restaurant located in the Citadelle district of Bastia, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean from its terrace. It's recommended to arrive early to secure a table for an aperitif and enjoy the golden glow of the sunset over the city walls. The restaurant is beautifully situated on the old town heights, providing protection from the wind during winter while still allowing guests to savor panoramic views. The kitchen operates seamlessly, with Antony running the service proficiently and professionally.

Very nice place located with a beautiful view of the old port. We did not make a reservation but still got a very nice table. The food was a bit more expensive as in the other restaurants we ate but the quality of the meat was amazing. I ordered the duck and it came presented very nicely with different sauces and bread. The house wine was very good. I would recommend this place for a romantic sunset dinner.
Sascha T — Google review
The restaurant's location is good, but it is too bad we could not enjoy it since we were at a table beside the wall, away from the sea view. Although we asked to be allowed to change tables, given the heat and the poor view, the manager told us it was impossible because they were all reserved. However, some tables remained empty for most of the evening, and no one had the foresight to move us. My "entree" was forgotten; when I asked, the manager told me it was in the fridge waiting since there was a misunderstanding with the kitchen. So she brought me the dish just taken out of the refrigerator and the entrecote that had already been cooked and was also waiting in the kitchen. To apologize, the manager said she would offer us coffee. We did not take the coffee; the bill of 123 euros arrived, and the manager didn’t take off either three euros as a courtesy. The staff is friendly, although they speak only French, the menus are in French, and the dishes found on the Internet seem to refer to previous management, so they are unreliable. Much work still needs to be done to improve the kindness in fulfilling the clients’s need.

The bad experience started with a host that was unprofessional and extremely arrogant. We had reservations but for some reason, they treated us like we weren’t welcomed. We ordered a dish that had porc but it wasn’t clear in the menu, the waitress came back with the menu threw it on the table to show us that “pancetta” was indeed included with the dish (pancetta is porc) learned something new! we had to give it back unfortunately but, they made a bit of a scene and my partner and I ended up not eating at the same time..the food was not that great and overpriced. To top it off, at the end of the evening, the unprofessional host came to us and said “we could have charged you for the meal You gave back but, this time we will let it slide” we were so shocked and disappointed, we had to get out of there as soon as possible. Never go there, shallow staff. Yuck.

Strange. The location, food and service lovely. Nevertheless the manager really bad. We had a reservation and they gave us the worst table. While sitting two persons came without reservation and got the cool table with the view. If you do not mind a bad manager, the r3st is lovely.

Incredible views and wonderful food at this beautiful restaurant. We were staying at the hotel next door and they were kind enough to let us order take away and eat outside our rooms. The Iberico pork ribs were some of the best I’ve ever had. Great smokey flavour with a side of cous cous and salad. The risotto de mer was fantastically done as well. Great service and views for an affordable price. Highly recommended for late dinner!

Booked a table in advance, arrived on time, got the only table without any view in the corner. Asked if we can change it to another one with better view, the waiter said “no, it’s booked”. It was not, when another couple arrived they let them chose the options. If you want to enjoy seaside, be well-dressed as if you have a lot of money to spend, then you’ll get a nice table.
