Hanbury Botanical Garden is a 19th-century terraced garden located just over the border, boasting a stunning peach-hued Palazzo Orengo and 30 acres of grounds. The garden is home to 5,800 exotic plants thriving in the Mediterranean microclimate, including agaves, palms, rare fruit orchards, and over 60 species of citrus. Visitors can also enjoy a small pebble beach within the garden's premises.
Loved the experience there! It was very hot the day we went, so we decided to change our shoes into open once, bad choice! Make sure you have your sneakers on, and be ready to walk a lot. We spent 2 hours inside and weren’t able to see everything, take into account a 3/3.5 hours visit, also take with you something to drink and maybe a snack, you can go all the way down to the cafe and consume your own things as well. The price of the ticket is very good considered the amount of things you can see, my suggestion (OF COURSE) is spring, to be able to enjoy fully all the flowers and roses that are in the garden.
Marta P — Google review
Visited end of July. Perhaps there was a water restriction as the gardens seemed dry. Places needed trimming or at least tidied up. A bit run down. Paths and stairs need renovating. A few areas/paths closed. I would love to visit again when not so dry and renovations finished. Free parking limited to the street. Lovely view of the sea.
P E — Google review
What an incredibly beautiful property. This garden is absolutely worth a visit. It's best to allocate at least 1hr to visit and discover the beauty of this garden! Parking options are a bit limited and visitors need to park alongside the main road.
Joyful J — Google review
I love botanical gardens and try to visit at least a new one each vacation. The location of Hanbury botanical gardens is very special, with great views of the Mediterranean sea, and have interesting features, in terms of the antique buildings, plants and decorations (statues, etc) but imo it really needs more care! We visited in August, which I understand is a hot and dry month, but in comparison to other botanical gardens -in the same region- also visited in summer, this one could really gain with more irrigation, plant care, and some details as more labeling of the plants species and some additional informative data (origin, uses, etc) Hope this comment is taken into consideration for improvement.
Odilie B — Google review
Would not have missed this botanical gardens. We've spend approximately 3 hours here. The garden is beautiful even at early September. It is true that some parts need some maintenance, but it also gives some extra charm to it. Imagine the potential! A big plus is the silence, especially since the rest of Cote d'Azur is such a busy and extravert environment. Highly appreciated!
Jan-Thijs K — Google review
Just a fantastic garden and setting. Put aside a few hours for a walk around the garden. Numerous viewpoints and benches to sit and soak up the plants, cactus and trees. Even a cafe!
Stuart — Google review
Very impressive and beautiful. Unfortunately some parts were closed due to storm damage. But still it was a walk of wonder and delight to see all this exotic flora and spectacular views! Take notice there is no dedicated parking lot so be prepared to park your car along the street, hopefully not too far off.

Huge garden, expect some uphill walking. The view is spectacular. An interesting place but a bit run down.

The Museo Preistorico dei Balzi Rossi, established in 1898 by Sir Thomas Hanbury, is a small waterfront museum dedicated to preserving archaeological remains found in the caves. Divided into two areas, the museum offers archeological exhibits and visits to prehistoric caves. The site holds great significance as it was inhabited by Neanderthals and later Homo sapiens, evidenced by findings of projectile weapons. Although small and with explanations mainly in Italian, the museum boasts astonishing exhibits.
Best 4 € ever spent on a museum visit. The staff was friendly and explained every in detail. The staff was super helpful, and although all signs and explanations in the museum were in Italien+French, they went out of their comfort zone and spoke English. They took a lot of time to show us around the cave and in absolute detail. I would recommend it to everyone.
Seema — Google review
If you are interested in archeology and the early human experience make your way to this small but very interesting museum. The staff were absolutely amazing. My wife and I walked into the museum and were greeted by a staff member who basically gave us a guided tour of the entire site. We have traveled all over the world and to seven continents and it is experiences like we had today at this museum that keep us excited about the next adventure.
Ed D — Google review
This museum and excavation site is absolutely incredible. This museum sits on a system of caves and so far, only one is accessible, but the area is the epitome of archeological significance. The museum itself is small, and you might have to translate the explanations and descriptions to English. It was inhabited by neaderthals and later, homo sapiens, as evidenced by the findings of projectile weapons. This site also was also part of the transition for homo sapiens from hunter gatherer lifestyles to more agricultural, as they have found evidence of domesticated animals and grains. Given that the landscape changes and where the ocean is now, it once was plains, you can see that the humans lived off of animals about 20,000 years ago, had perfect teeth because of their diet, required no dental work or braces because they chewed a lot (you can see the wear on the back teeth of the fossils) and therefore had straight teeth, were tall (about 6 feet), and had rituals. The museum shows the landscape change, the human remains (some are replicas though), the crafts and tools, and figurines. This has been my favorite museum because of the significance in human history. And it's only 5 euros per person. I hope to see the other caves one day but they look like they're under active excavation.
Rachel K — Google review
This is not a big museum. That's okay, just don't be surprised. It's in two separate buildings - new and old. A lot of effort has been put into the displays. I was disappointed I didn't get to walk up to the caves because I checked the opening times on their website after reading the reviews on here, but they had changed the time by an hour. The staff do a good job. In the first museum she spoke Italian and I spoke English, but we got by. In the second museum the man was very informative in English and Italian (maybe more). All the displays are in Italian. But these days Google Translate can solve that. The cost was €4.
Helen P — Google review
Very worthwhile given that it’s only 4 euros per person. Shout out to Jessica in particular, the staff member who happened to be working at the ticket desk when we arrived and was super friendly and helpful and gave us a tour of the caves. She gave the whole explanation in English despite it being out of her comfort zone, and did a great job! Others have mentioned that the signs in the museum are all in Italian & French only, but they seem to have solved this problem by now having a printed pamphlet version with English translations of all the displays, so be sure to ask for that if you don’t read the other languages. If you’re in the area and interested in history definitely give it a go. As long as you’re aware that it’s a small museum and will not take you an hour at most (and that’s only if you read all the detailed info).
Anisha N — Google review
I thought this was a very interesting museum to visit. Yes it’s small and you can only visit one cave but it has some good artifacts and interesting info! If you don’t speak Italian just use Google Lens (Translate app).

The Museo Preistorico dei "Balzi Rossi" and the surrounding archaeological area are significant sites located near Menton, specifically in the region known as Balzi Rossi. This museum and archaeological zone are dedicated to the prehistoric period, showcasing the findings from the nearby caves that have revealed important insights into early human habitation. The Balzi Rossi caves, which date back to the Upper Paleolithic era, are famous for their well-preserved artifacts, including tools, ornaments, and remains that provide a glimpse into the lives of prehistoric peoples. The museum houses a rich collection of these artifacts, allowing visitors to explore the evolution of human society in the region. Exhibits include prehistoric tools, artistic objects, and information about the lifestyles of early humans who inhabited the area. In addition to the museum, the archaeological zone offers visitors the opportunity to explore the caves and the surrounding landscape, where significant archaeological excavations have taken place. The site is not only of scientific interest but also provides stunning views of the Mediterranean coastline and the natural beauty of the area. The Museo Preistorico dei "Balzi Rossi" is an essential destination for those interested in archaeology, history, and anthropology, providing a unique opportunity to learn about the prehistoric past of the region while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

You are lucky if you get the chance to meet Alessandro C for his super friendly smile and immense knowledge for history and Philosophy! He treats visitors with respect like king of Monaco and friendliness like a school buddy He took care specially to explain the artefacts and history of the museum in detail and in English, along with the caves, taking as much time as needed to answer my related and unrelated questions The musuem also provide a English information sheet on request which is a translation of the posters on the wall in Italian, just ask for it ;)

Le Calandre Beach is a popular spot for surfers, families, and young crowds alike. The fine white sand and shallow seabed make it ideal for children to play while the clear, warm waters attract swimmers. Visitors can enjoy amenities such as showers and a beach bar offering ice creams, cold drinks, and snacks.
I came to Ventimiglio on a day trip from Marseille. I checked out some of the other beaches on the east side of the town but the rocky beaches did not appeal to me. Lovely sandy beach with showers and a patio serving drinks. Spectacular views while on the way down and while swimming and the water was perfect for June. Well worth the hike down. I came on a thursday and the beach was somewhat busy for a weekday but still plenty of space, but given that it is a very small beach I don't know how crowded it could get on a weekend.
Erik — Google review
Getting there is a 15min walk, if you don't park far away. Parking in Ventimiglia was challenging. The beach is nice 6/10 if you compare it to other places. The water was clean and warm. There's a bar and a shower, but there was barely any place to lie on the sand, since the sea was high and the sand area is tiny.
Familia C — Google review
The beach is beautiful with tge great views. However, getting there without the elevator could be challenging. The place is rocky so the watershoes are highly recommended.
Kateryna L — Google review
Renting a parasol and 2 sun beds for 35€ and then stepping on glass and finding the disgusting cigarette butts isn't what one looks for when going to the beach for some ocean time. The sand is very rocky as well. Could be easily cleaned with a rake from the big stones and especially the glass. Then it would be a very nice small place, otherwise, like this, it is not a recommendation to rent anything, just go into the free space for free.
Durim K — Google review
Nice and beautiful beach! It is free, with fine sand. The only problem is that there is no infrastructure. So, go prepared to protect from the sun, by taking a beach umbrella, and some snacks!
Camila N — Google review
This beach is easy to reach by foot. It takes about 15 minutes to walk. On the beach there is a bar with food and drinks. And a shower, but only one. So there is a queue. Visitors of the beach are families and youngsters. Nice sandy beach with enough room for everyone on a hot summer day. Bring a parasol because there isn’t any shade. To find a parking spot can be a hell of a job. I parked my car eventually on the street partly on the curb nearby.
Mpb B — Google review
Like someone else put, a very nice, sandy, shallow beach. It's clean and the water is fairly warm, at least compared to Miramare Beach. There is a small beach bar as well, which accepts cards. Prices on par with cafés/bars. Aka €5 for an aperol spritz and €5-€10 for sandwiches and plates. Beach was crowded when I went; it’s not very large. Lots of families and young crowds. Dogs allowed which I LOVED 🥰 : didn’t see any dog waste anywhere! Wish the same was allowed in the U.K. during high season.
Jennifer S — Google review
I visited Spiaggia delle Calandre while visiting Ventimiglia, and it was truly a beautiful moment. The beach in itself is relatively small, however the water is incredible - clear, warm, and you can go far out while still standing up. It’s a great experience for anyone who enjoys a secluded beach with a little walk to get there.

Marina di Cala del Forte is a stunning new marina complex that caters to modern tastes and offers a unique experience for visitors. As a satellite port for the Principality of Monaco, it embodies sustainable port management while providing top-notch hospitality and security. The marina features an efficient shuttle service connecting yacht owners and their guests to Monaco's Port Hercule, making it incredibly convenient for day trips.
Winter is protected from the winds Good restaurants Places to go just for aperitif Don’t miss it Then just next to the entrance of the tunnel there is an elevator going directly to Ventimiglia Vecchio Personally I like that place

Flea & Street Markets
Friday's Street Market is a bustling and lively market with an array of stands offering various goods. Visitors can find great bargains, although some items may not be of the highest quality. It's advisable to take the train as parking can be challenging. The market offers a typical Italian experience with fresh vegetables, fruits, and beautiful flowers at good prices. Additionally, there is a well-regarded fish shop. The atmosphere is vibrant and friendly, but visitors should remain cautious of their belongings in crowded areas.
Great market. Loafs of stands. Some real bargains (some absolute tat). Get the train. Don't try to park. Enjoy the experience. Lively and very friendly, but watch your handbag or purse just like any other crowded place. If you are not interested in the goods being sold by the wandering African men, just ignore them and don't respond. Don't even say 'no, thanks'. They will move on with no hard feelings.
Mike M — Google review
I don’t get the hype of this market, we drove all the way from Nice and sat in traffic, then circled for about 2.5 hours to find a parking spot. Upon arrival, I already knew this market was not special. It’s the same stands I’ve seen everywhere else, just loads and loads of them. Everything repeats itself within a street or two, you’re bound to see the same items every corner you look. Didn’t need to make a special trip for this market, wasted half a day.
Shirley Z — Google review
For someone who is used to old Italian street markets, this one is a really low quality one. It is not Italian but it is Chinese. You can find some good quality Italian leather products but that is all. But this is the opinion of someone who knows the old good Italian street markets. For somebody who is visiting for the first time, it is a marvellous market or for some others like French who does not have this type of street markets in their country it is exceptional.
Asli S — Google review

Hotel Trattoria dei Pani is a charming restaurant that offers top-class service and delicious food. Visitors rave about the tiramisu, which is described as the best in years, and the amazing meatballs. Despite being busy, the staff provides genuine and recommended service at good prices.
The trattoria is a very, very fresh and good restaurant! The service team is very professional, the pasta was the best ever the kids had eaten. All the charming Italy in one place 🩷

Prices were good, and the food was pretty good! Service was friendly and fast!
Michael J — Google review
I found the pasta to be on the heavy side, leaving a somewhat weighed-down feeling after the meal. The flavors were decent, but the overall experience fell short of my expectations. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was cozy, but for me, the heaviness of the pasta was a notable drawback. It's possible that individual preferences play a role, so if you prefer heartier dishes, this might be a suitable choice.

Worst of worst service I've ever experienced. After shopping at the market, we were hungry and tried to eat lunch at 13:00. We are not tourist and live close by so we've already been many other restaurants in Ventimiglia. How we decided to make an adventure. We wait at the entrance, 3 servers tried not to see us. After 5 min waiting, finally one of them comes and we finally sat down. After sitting down, we were totally ignored. We called one of server many times but she just say "wait". Nothing comes and 20 min passed. Finally we got menu, again nobody comes to take order, and we had to insist many times. 3 servers are all so null and not working well. After 40 min waiting just with water, I noticed that they first serve people who speak Italian came after us. It seems an Asian woman, European looking husband but can not speak Italian and a baby are not welcome at all. Anyway, our baby is very hungry and can not sit down 40 min without any food so we insisted at least bread. After asking 3 times, finally we got bread. When we finally got our order it was nearly 14:00. And food was very very small and menu of 17 euros hardly filled my small Japanese stomach. We were very unpleasant with this discrimination and stood up to leave without coffee nor dessert. Only when we pay, a server came immediately. My husband took gnocchi and the price written outside was 10 euros but they charge 11 euros. We all are still hungry and bought a slice of pizza and ate on the street and went to a nice cafe to finish our dessert.

Went in for lunch , received food which was fine Although there was 1 waitress managing the entire restaurant. surprisingly restaurant was full. We ordered coffee at the end and after waiting 20 minutes and no coffee we decided to go up and pay. After another 5 minute waiting to pay at the till we found out they only accepted cash. Very frustrating for everyone in the restaurant it seemed . Service was minimum to non existence, not surprising they were forgetting orders .

Good food, good prices, we had lunch here at a busy hour, the staff struggled a little but they provide a very good service, recommended!

Marixx offers a highly exclusive and intimate dining experience with a remarkable tasting menu that includes mouthwatering Buttoni Ripieni and a delicious crudo dish made with local fish, palamita. The restaurant boasts tasteful decor and a lovely view of the port. Chef Riccardo is incredibly inventive, friendly, and carefully selects dishes and wine that suit every palate. The staff are courteous and provide detailed explanations of each preparation.
Вот финальный текст статьи с обновлёнными хэштегами — только текст, готовый для публикации: Marixx: Where Monaco, Italy, and America Meet—On a Plate When Monaco roars with the thrill of the Grand Prix, and the sound of engines drowns out human voices, there’s a lesser-known extension of the principality—just 20 minutes away in Italy—where one can experience a true gastronomic climax. This tiny country, with the world’s highest port density per capita, long ago ran out of physical space. So, a few years back (Monaco officially signed a 99-year lease with Italy in 2016), the principality secured a stretch of coastal land in Ventimiglia, the first Italian town across the border—only 12 km from Monte Carlo—and built a new port. Thus emerged a fascinating Monegasque enclave on Italian soil—a place where two cultures blend seamlessly, framed by the Mediterranean. And nestled within this harbor, an American woman with exceptional taste launched Marixx, a refined seafood-focused restaurant that unites the culinary elegance of Italy with the finesse of Monaco. Marixx is not just a restaurant; it’s a diplomatic table where continents meet. Today, I tasted pigeon—a dish revered in haute cuisine as a benchmark of a chef’s mastery. The best pigeon I’ve ever had was by Mauro Colagreco in Mirazur (Menton, World’s Best Restaurant in 2019), the second—at Chez Gerome in La Turbie (2 Michelin stars), and now Marixx claims a very respectable third. That’s no small compliment—it’s a sign of excellence. The selection of ultra-fresh seafood is equally impressive. Pricing sits comfortably between Monaco and Italy—another pleasant surprise. The short drive through the Riviera becomes a culinary journey, ending with a glass of wine by the sea. I wholeheartedly recommend this hidden gem to anyone living nearby who hasn’t discovered it yet. And for tourists, it’s a delightful detour—well worth the short escape. Marixx is more than a restaurant. It’s a gastronomic intersection of Monaco, Italy, and America—where flavor speaks the universal language of pleasure. And yes, it truly deserves a star. #Marixx #Ventimiglia #MonacoPort #GrandPrix2025 #GastronomicJourney #MauroColagreco #Mirazur2019 #ChezGerome #LaTurbie #MichelinStar #MichelinGuide #PigeonDish #SeafoodHeaven #RivieraCuisine #MonacoItalyAmerica #FineDining #HiddenGem #GastronomicOrgasme #HauteCuisine #MonacoStyle #MarixxExperience #Tripadvisor #Worlds50BestRestaurants #LuxuryTravel #GourmetDestination #FoodCritics #RestoLovers #EpicureanEscape #CulinaryTravel #LaRivieraGastronomique

Absolutely loved our experience at Marixx! The seating is stunning, right in front of the port with a view that sets the mood perfectly. The food? Pure culinary delight, every dish was crafted with care and full of flavor. Don’t make the mistake of comparing it to the typical restaurants outside the por, Marixx is in a league of its own. If you're looking for high-end food, great ambiance, and good vibes all around, this is the place. Highly recommend!

I’d recommend more by-the-glass options, especially for the reds. Most people order whites but I drink red and honestly had to go for the best glass option, which is at the same time not matching the dishes. There are so many interesting reds that can be a company to seafood… Anyway, great service, great meal, see you soon:)

High end dining on the sea! Believe it or not we were a walk-in, no reservation we had decided 40 minutes before being seated. We went for the tasting menu and we opened with a very nice glass of champagne. The sommelier was very nice and recommended a bottle of Ligurian vermentino that we liked very much. The food was what you expect at a fine dining restaurant. The highlight was their dainty ‘button’ ravioli with pesto and fish that were literally an explosion of flavour in your mouth. We had a great night and we’re sure there’s scope to improve even further: the main dish can be made even more flavoursome adding some tweaks and so could be the hazelnut based dessert. Both were very good but could be made exceptional. We were a bit surprised to be charged for the final limoncello as it is customary to offer it in Italian restaurants especially after such a grandiose meal. No complaints on the flavour though it was amazing. I wholeheartedly recommended a visit to make your evening in Ventimiglia very special.

Restaurant
Il Giardino Del Gusto offers a tasting menu with excellent and innovative dishes. The chef's expertise is evident in the tasty creations, while the passionate service adds to the overall experience. Despite being slightly overpriced for some, it's still worth a visit for its cozy ambiance and comfortable service.
We were here on Friday for lunch. To say that it is delicious, wonderful, is to say nothing. The chef is a great master and an extraordinary talent! Each of the dishes was a real feast of flavor! It's haute cuisine! The restaurant itself is clean, cozy and very pleasant. The cozy atmosphere is also created by the beautiful classical music. The service is very neat, tolerant and caring! Thanks to this restaurant for a true pleasure and for the real feast of flavor we received.

Food is great but not followed by service and location. Experience not worth the price. Group of 6 we were forced to take all the same menu, not to change any plate unless all table was changing it, and bread was actually finished by the time we started to eat… location basically inside a parking lot. Not a prime experience

An experience will not be repeated, fast food can be one of the best. What is the relation of mushroom with ragu ?! Among other things, the sauce was not cooked well and half the raw pulp was wrong. I would recommend "Restaurant La Caravella" for lunch. Because the waiters here are very polite and the food is very tasty. And here the table is available according to the demand.

I was so excited to try this place because it was recommended but unfortunately I didn't like it. My gnocchi sauce had tick, lobster, salinity and deficiency levels. It was as if they had just dropped a bunch of cheese on it and that was it. Excessive cost and frustrating

I had dinner at this restaurant with my girlfriend and we were very disappointed. At first my girlfriend (who was not very hungry) just ordered a tuna prayer and the waitress (false blonde with obscene attitude and presentation) was not satisfied because she wanted us to order more. I ordered an Arabiata pasta for myself and it was full of oil. And finally a few slices of bread that we didn't order cost an extra 4 euros. Trust us it is a tourist trap. I would recommend "Ristorante La Caravella" for dinner. . Tables are available here as per demand. And because the waiters here are very polite and the food is very tasty

Restaurant
Palosanto is a restaurant that has received positive reviews for its pleasant ambiance and friendly service. While the food and people are generally enjoyable, there have been instances where the staff's disorganization led to forgotten food orders. On the other hand, they can also be attentive and helpful. The meat dishes receive praise while the lasagne falls short. It is recommended to visit in summer when the large building provides a cozy atmosphere, though it might be a bit chilly during winter.
we got here by getting lost in a town and this was our best experience on that day. Amazing food, beautiful - delicious drinks and top ⭐ service. Highly recommend!!! Would give 6⭐

Palosanto in Ventimiglia is a fantastic spot with a great mix of Italian, Mediterranean, and Spanish flavors. I tried the ribs, the sweet burger, and their churros—everything was delicious! However, I’d love to see their burgers be a bit bigger and even more flavorful. The atmosphere is lively, the service is great, and it’s definitely a place worth visiting. Absolutely gorgeous location with incredible views of the marina. It’s also one of the only places that stays open midday. We stopped just to have some coffee but the food all looked and sounded great. We loved our pistachio and Nutella espressos. They have beautiful indoor and outdoor seating.

First time to PaloSanto and really enjoyed the food here! Service was prompt and friendly too. All the cocktails looked very tempting, we tried the Floradora and Holiday Spritz. I couldn't really taste the alcohol in the cocktails, so that's why I have rated one star less. The Dj came out around 3 pm to play some music which was really nice too, we were there on a Sunday.
Mimi M — Google review
Nice modern venue at the new port of this town with a charming atmosphere. And unfortunately, that is where my praises end. The service was problematic and the quality of the food lackluster, which seems to be in line with many touristic spots in this area. I was there for an impromptu birthday brunch and the first impression was that the place looked slick, in line with this newly constructed area. The decor seemed curated and very "Pinterest inspired". In the end, we only settled for a quick late breakfast (which means an overpriced coffee or cappuccino, orange juice, and a savory or sweet pastry) since it was getting kinda late for everyone. After 10/15 minutes sitting at the table, we had to go and ask for someone to come and get the order, which is fine, there were a few people coming in. I appreciated the waitress (one of only two servers working the entire venue) apologizing in advance for the delayed service, however, having to then wait almost 30 minutes for a coffee seems a bit excessive. I do not blame the staff, they were working very hard and were incredibly nice. I blame the management who decided to only put two servers and two baristas in service when they clearly needed at least 2 more servers and a runner. The kitchen is located at the back of the venue while the bar is almost at the front separated by a wall and another open-view kitchen that was not operating while I was there. This odd placement seemed to create communication issues between the two areas. The two servers, while taking orders, had to run in the back to get pastries for the bar which then prepared the coffees that sat there on the counter, waiting for the servers to come and collect the order. This resulted in warm coffees/cappucinos and pastries that I don't know if they were heated or were just on the verge of being stale. The small jar of juice was nice and fresh, though. Judging by other reviews and how the venue replies to critiques, I doubt they'll ever better themselves or that I will be back voluntarily. But you might love it if you like a cool ambiance and you don't care about time, money, or the taste of food.

I had a great time dining experience at Palo Santo Restaurant in Ventimiglia, Italy. From their aged meats and large burgers to the fish and hams. The hip atmosphere adds to the experience, and the service is top, friendly, and attentive. I can't recommend this place enough! #Ventimiglia
AJ G — Google review
I’ve always liked this place, but my recent visit left me puzzled. We came in later for dinner, and things felt off from the start. The waitress seemed impatient—especially when I tried to translate the menu for my friends. After taking our order, she never came back. We ordered hummus, which tasted fine, but it came with only four pieces of pita bread—barely enough for sharing. I tried to get another beer, but that turned out to be impossible. The food overall was okay, but honestly, you’ll find better (and cheaper) burgers at the BBQ spot downtown in Ventimiglia. If you're in the restaurant business, shouldn't the goal be to make guests feel welcome and cared for? This time, it felt like we were more of a burden than customers.

(Translated by Google) The municipal theater of the city of Ventimiglia is a building that dates back to the first decade of the last century. Also adapted as a cinema, it reached its splendor around the middle of the last century in which theatrical performances, operas and musical revues alternated with important film premieres. Closed around the end of the sixties, it was reopened for four years between 1981 and 1984 in which it was transformed into a sort of arthouse theatre. Once closed, it was expertly restored inside to be reopened both as a theater and a cinema in the first decade of the present century. The façade is precious and is a typical example of the so-called Nice Art Nouveau style.

When exploring the charming Old Town, make sure to step into the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta. This 11th-century church is a sight to behold, boasting an octagonal Romanesque baptistry that holds a remarkable 13th-century limestone basin. Admire the stunning frescoes and artwork within this beautiful cathedral, which stands as a testament to centuries of history and artistry.
Very rustic yet original with a nice and serene environment, unlike many other touristy places in the region.

Historic church that has undergone several restorations, in the centre of Ventimiglia Alta. Beautifully built and designed, inside and out, and also hosts a small and very old Baptistery beneath. Free to enter and look around.
Matt W — Google review
Very quiet but awesome interior. The exterior street, buildings, is very unappealing, the area is a falling apart mess. Facades crumbling, exposed rebar, ugly. The streets are tiny but deserted, just a few shops about, folks hanging around, smoking. But do go inside the church. The very rough stone exposed, dirty, crumbling mortar, showing its age and its shear mass. Nothing spectacular but a little grace in an otherwise mundane little Italian town. Folks were here long, long ago and they spent a lot of effort (time, money) to make something that will last. They was no compromise, each rock, each stone, cut, worked, levered and lifted, clamped, mortared...move on. Hard to find anybody doing that anywhere, anymore.

We came here because of the reviews, but I regretted a bit not going into town for a bite after eating there. I had pasta with seafood and it was ok, but nothing spectacular. Having been to Italy countless times, I had high expectations. My husband ate a diavola pizza and it was ok. Ig you’re on the beach and really hungry, it’s worth checking it out, but if you have time to go into town, I think it’d be better. The staff is friendly but I don’t think it was worth paying 41 euros for our food + 2 aperol spritzes

Lovely meal and setting, and look forward to returning. This place will do many of the standard menus, but also has some unusual dishes which we can highly recommend. Look out for the seared tuna steak pieces served on a cold melon mouse sauce; wonderful. This was followed by a pistachio fondant pudding - a small cake sponge with a soft runny center (Often you see this served as a chocolate pudding, but great to see it work with pistachios). All beautiful. We also had an excellent pasta vongole and a good homemade lemon tart.

Spent the day at the beach and ate at the beach side restaurant. The beach is not the best with rocks, but the water is fresh and very clean and the floor is sandy once you are waist deep. We were a group of 12 and had a nice long table at the beach side restaurant. The setup is great, protected from the sun and breezy. The food was excellent and our kids had a blast. Our friends are regulars here and maybe we benefited from their prior knowledge and relationship with the staff. In any case I recommend. Comparatively affordable day at the beach, great food, clean water, good service.

1 star is for the ambience. But still the ambience was average at best, super dirty exterior. Awful service. Super rude tall male server. Tried to ask why the wifi wasn’t working and he walked away as I was speaking and said it’s just like that. Dirty dishes were on my table for over 20 minutes, waiters walked by multiple times and did not clear. I asked the rude waiter to clear the dish, and he gave me a glare (?) lol as if it was an offence to ask him to do his job. (??) Just to note, I was the only person of colour in the restaurant. He seemed to be more polite to the other customers. Food was disappointing. I only ate the clams, pasta had no flavour and couldn’t even be saved with salt and pepper. This is our favourite restaurant in Ventimiglia. We have been coming here for a number of years and every time, we have a pleasant experience. The seafood is always fresh and cooked wonderfully. The staff are friendly and the service is good. The restaurant has a beach and a wonderful view onto the sea.

Wow! We thoroughly enjoyed eating right on the beach. The seafood was amazing - simply spiced to let the grilled seafood flavor shine. Our waiter, David, was wonderful. He speaks perfect English and was so helpful and happy to share the wonders of Italy!

Pizza restaurant
Pizza Max is a local eatery in Ventimiglia that offers a variety of delicious dishes such as pizza, hamburgers, and pasta. During a 7-day stay in the city, this restaurant was visited multiple times for dinner due to its perfect pizza with a crispy bun and well-balanced flavors. The lasagna also received high praise. The hamburger could benefit from experimenting with different types of bread. The restaurant attracts both regular locals and visitors, creating a nice mix of clientele.
A lovely local restaurant close to our motorhome parkup Camping Roma. Pleasent waitress, good prices.

People there were very friendly and welcoming. The pizza was tasty. The location is near the roundabout like a casual bar.

Last chance Italian standard pizza before France. Located by the roundabout like a casual bar, they produced better pizza than I've ever tasted anywhere else (outside of Italy). For a scandinavian tourist this was in a sense the complete stereotypical experience.

Perfect place with real pizza, pasta and tasty hamburgers! They make it in front of you the old way and the pizza bottom is nice thin. And the price is incredible cheap!

Local pizza & hamburger restaurant with also some primi and secondi. In our 7 day stay in Ventimigla we visited this place 4 times for dinner. Perfect pizza - the bun/bread had correct crunch and tasted very good without excessive salt. Lasanga was also perfect. Hamburger well over medium - perhaps experiment with other type bread? Nice crowd with a mix of local regulars and visitors like us. If we come back to this city, we will definately come back.

Hiking area
Ventimiglia Alta, located in the historic center of Ventimiglia, is a fascinating and historically significant site in Liguria. Once known for its rough reputation, the area has since undergone significant improvements while maintaining its original charm. The old town offers a mix of ancient architecture and modern establishments, with winding streets and narrow alleys to explore. Visitors can enjoy stunning views near the Mediterranean Sea and appreciate beautiful old buildings that have stood the test of time.
Small and winding paths around this interesting little town, with lots of excellent views and historical buildings. Various nice restaurants too, and feels very authentic with few tourists. There are several paths up into the town as well as a lift accessible inside the tunnel that runs underneath the town.

I recently placed an order on Cactusmania's website and was impressed by their wide selection of plants, particularly their unique and rare collection. The prices were competitive compared to other online vendors specializing in rare cacti. The delivery through GLS was remarkably fast, arriving in perfect condition just a few working days after placing the order. The packaging was done well, ensuring the plants' safety during transit. I appreciated the thoughtful addition of a small gift with my order.
I just recently received my order from them last week and I am very pleased with the quality of the plant. I also received a free plant! :-) Customer service is also fantastic and was very helpful regarding my questions since it was my first time ordering a plant outside of Germany. Looking forward to ordering more from them.

I recently made an order on the website. Great plant choices, very interesting collection, and the prices are relatively good compared to other vendors of rare cacti that I was able to find on the internet. My order arrived via GLS very quickly, just after a couple of working days in perfect condition. The packaging was well done. The little gift in plus was also well appreciated! The customer service is also very nice, they answered me very quickly on WhatsApp and always with a very positive attitude. Overall it's been a great customer experience, I'm happy to discover them and hope to make a visit to the nursery as soon as I can so I can avoid the shipping costs. :)

2022 Update: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 I went back to this one of a kind place and, this time, the staff was super helpful and very welcoming. Plus the plants are gorgeous. Well worth the drive to Ventimiglia. So happy to bring back home a few new gems for my garden & already thinking about my next visit! --- 2021 To all the cactus lovers out there, this place is incredible: gorgeous plants as far as the eye can see, some truly spectacular & rare species too. Upon our last visit, the staff was not very warm or attentive... but it might have been a bad day. If that place had a few cactus senseis eager to share their passion with their customers it would be heaven on earth!

Amazing!! Never thought I'd be writing a review for cacti, but here I am. Amazing selection, and staff was very friendly. We spoke zero Italian, but the staff was accommodating from the start. Alla Farmacia, a remarkable dining spot in Liguria, is highly regarded by regular visitors. This special establishment boasts an outstanding staff that warmly welcomes and treats their guests like cherished friends. The cuisine is exceptional, with a focus on fresh and distinctive dishes. By sourcing high-quality ingredients from local markets daily, the menu offers a variety of options including delightful antipasti, flavorful pastas, savory vegetable dishes, and succulent meats.
Freshly cooked authentic food in the Old Town of Ventimiglia. Worth making the effort to get up to this part of town and wander round the narrow streets. Alla Farmacia is on the main street and has some tables at the front under parasols. Menu is short and locally based, tasty dishes including rabbit and pasta with beans. Tiramisu interesting if a little runny. Good wine by the glass or bottle.

My wife and I travel to Liguria regularly and Alla Farmacia is a very special place we enjoy for dinner or lunch. The staff is wonderful, welcoming and caring for us as friends. The food is fresh and unique. The menu features new items daily based on high quality foods they find at the market. We love their antipasti, pastas vegetable dishes and meats. And, we always feel we get a great value. If you get a chance, go for dinner and sit outside. It’s a wonderful off-the-beaten-path setting in the old historic center of Ventimiglia Alta. Then enjoy a beautiful stroll and view from Ventimiglia Alta after dinner.

We had the first two simple, pasta dishes, the Sciancaa & the Tajarin. Beautifully prepared & cooked. Simple honest little restaurant doing things in the right way. We paid €75 for 3 pasta dishes, bottle of still water, a Coke Zero, two glasses of white wine, & 2 desserts. It was excellent.

This is the best restaurant in Ventimiglia Alta. Samuel and his team offer a fantastic service, food in a charming setting with good music. I keep coming back and recommend it to everyone who passes in the area! Update 2024 July: I keep coming back. Samuel just offered a selection of 4 Barbarescos from a selection of over 300 wines in his cellar, decanted the elixir and served it with passion. In the background blue music. What’s more to want?

Delicious dinner. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Reportedly a great selection of wines: they claimed to have more than 300 labels, we ordered only one but we ended up being quite happy with it. Some very good ideas: caprese salad with peaches instead of tomatoes. A must try if you are in Ventimiglia’s old town and in search of a great meal.

The worst chocolate shake i have ever had... Plus the quantity of the fries they gave was a joke. Today's experience was pathetic! Just look at the quantity of the fries and the texture of the shake. It felt like drinking a timirind drink.

Nice, quick and cheap snack. In many McDonald’s hamburger’s bun is lukewarm, but here it was nicely grilled. Perfect stop for us, two backpackers. The only minus was that USB charging port wasn’t working next to our table.

I love McDonald because its the same wherever you go or at least i should be the service is terrible i tried asking for no ice and said i have to edit it out from the kiosk the problem is theres no way to do so and they repeatedly get orders wrong or miss food so you should be careful especially in the drive thru and this doesn’t happened only when they’re busy, I once went when it was completely empty an ordered a single MChicken and received a doubled cheeseburger… it is the only McDonald so you don’t have a choice i guess(that’s why i eat there) just be careful that you get what you ordered

Pizza restaurant
Ristorante/Pizzeria Porta Nizza is a family-friendly restaurant situated at the entrance to the historic center, Alta. The lovely terrace offers a sunny spot with a view of the sea, making it an ideal place for a relaxed lunch or afternoon drinks. Visitors praise the delicious pizzas and seafood dishes, such as fresh orata and pulpo. The friendly staff and authentic atmosphere add to the overall dining experience, with some guests even receiving complimentary limoncello.
And another Example that Google reviews don't always reflect the reality. 3,8 Stars. Good thing we didn't let ourselves deter from going there anyway. First of all, my 5 Stars rating is to be seen as a bang-for-the-buck rating. Yes, I've eaten better Pizza before. I've also had Better wine. But I also hat far worse of both. Here some in-depth points: I had the MAXI Pizza Arizona. I love this combination (Salami, capers and anchovis) and if a Restaurant does not provide it, I usually combine it myself. And man believe me, it was MAXI! The images (Foto is my Pizza) dont do it justice. Woman on the table beside us ordered it and barely made a dent. Not me, I ate it. I ate it ALL. And it was really good. Granted, the dough might have been a bit undersalted on it's own, but with the Salami and toppings there was more than enough to balance it. So much for the under-seasoned reviews here, cannot confirm. We had half a Liter of sparkling wine which was refreshing. Then we had another mezzo litro which was slightly intoxicating. For 7 Euros each, mind you. So much for the price Review. My daughter had Spaghetti carbonara which I tasted and was also very good. And also a lot. We closed with a Tiramisu, which was not the burner I must damit. Thats something I can create better myself, but I am a bit of a fanatic in that regard. Finally the Service: we came there quite early and there were no Problems whatsoever. But I can see that it might be if it gets crowded. We had none. Also, there was some might Action where half of the City gathered in Pirate costumes in front of us. See the photo. Finally the price. We payed 77 Euros for 4 ppl, which made me and my wife drunk, made me stuffed (it's the morning next day and I will not eat today until the evening), we had a nice view and an extra Event. So here, take my Stars!
Christian P — Google review
Porta Nizza is a rare find. We came across it today as we toured Ventimiglia old town. The restaurant has a stunning view of the sea, great food (I had escalope with champagne sauce & porcini mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 , my wife Shirley had Lasagne. I don’t normally have pudding 🍮 but they had Tiramisu - and I had to try that - best one I’ve had in years, my wife had chocolate cake which she said was delicious). I finished off with an espresso ☕️ which was nice & strong. Service was prompt and friendly and the entire experience was borderline magical
Kevin H — Google review
Service was friendly, though I think it helps if you speak Italian. The food was OK and, if you go for a bottle, there are some local wines to choose from. We sat outside on a warm evening but unfortunately had a table full of smokers next to us. Good views down to the town and marina.

This has got to be the best pasta we had in Italy! Amazing food. Great prices. Good service.
Gord D — Google review
The restaurants is beautifully situated .. they definitely have that working for them ... The service and food are good and worth the price . However the menu had nothing gluten free ... I ordered mushrooms with escalope but the mushroom sauce was creamy ... It was definitely tasty for sure but I'm not allowed to have dairy ... I did eat it because we had already ordered it and I'm not highly intolerant but I just wanted to avoid ... We also made another mistake we ordered the pepperoni pizza .. it doesn't have pepperoni on it it only had bell peppers 🤣 that was both enlightening and hilarious ... But overall it was a good experience and we would definitely go back ... Event he pizza was reallllyyyyy good
Suzan Z — Google review
The only good thing was the view. Unfortunately everything else was a big disappointment. The service didn’t really seem to bother, the mixed “salad” was clearly from last week, “mixed” is a crazy word if you serve some salad leafs, old tomatos and a few dry olives. The Lasagne was cold in the middle and the Aperol Spritz was a disgrace for every Italian who knows how to make a decent Aperol Spritz. I can’t recommend this place.

(Translated by Google) This resort is suitable for family vacations. There are few people on the beach, more only on weekends. For ten days I heard no Russian language, only Italian. And it's so nice to rest without clothes that you don't even care that the toilet is far away. There is a shower. Free admission. You can lie on the stones or on the sand, because the beach is mixed. After Yalta, I found my peaceful place on the mountain in Camporosso. Disadvantage, you definitely need a car.

Area Archeologica Della Citta' Romana Di Albintimilium offers a glimpse into the life of ancient Romans, showcasing a well-preserved theater and the ruins of the old Albintimilium. The site is an important archaeological location along the Via Iulia Augusta and has recently hosted theatrical performances. Despite ongoing excavation, it provides a unique and unspoiled experience, often with few visitors present.
Very interesting, smallish site. It's in the process of being dug up. The most amazing part of our visit, there was nobody else on the entire site. The only two visitors were us. About 11 am, I would expect it to be more popular. But very pleasant visit.

(Translated by Google) A remarkable place. We can see some remains of the town of Albintimilium (or Albium Intemelium), Roman capital of the city of the Ligurians Intemelians. In addition to the ancient theater, remains of thermal baths, mosaics and even some fragments of the late-Republican surrounding wall are visible there. In the small museum, numerous discoveries are exhibited, accompanied by valuable explanations, reconstructions, videos, numerous plans and models. There is something for everyone, experts, curious people and children alike. The only drawback is that these remains are visible discontinuously, separated from each other by a major road and modern buildings. (Original) Un lieu remarquable.

The Biblioteca Civica Aprosiana is a Baroque public library established by Augustinian monk Angelico Aprosio in 1648. It serves as an important cultural hub, often hosting conferences and literary events. While the ancient collection of Baroque texts by Father Angelico Aprosio is now located in Ventimiglia Alta, the modern collection is housed in this historic building since 2010.

The real downside, in my opinion, is the opening hours: it's unusable for children and teenagers who are at school in the mornings and find the library closed in the afternoons, when they could use it. A real shame. (Original) Gli spazi sono molto belli e ben tenuti, ma la sezione per bambini potrebbe essere valorizzata, magari disponendo i libri in maniera più attrattiva per i piccoli. Un vero peccato

Do not expect a gourmet restaurant, but if only there were more of places like this. It's an old railway workers canteen, which still serves the nearby station and trains staff but welcomes external punters. You can choose between a cheap fixed menu and a la carte menu. The dishes are traditionally Italian homemade cuisine, you will find more refined choices around in the town, but not with these popular prices and such a family-run atmosphere. The service is quick, the big TV on the wall showing popular prime time entertainment adds to that after-work relaxation vibe. What's not to like?

Seafood restaurant
Ristorante Da Daniele is a charming local restaurant located at the end of the promenade towards Vallecrosia, offering authentic Italian cuisine. The menu may be small, but the food is absolutely delicious, especially the pasta with shells and fresh seafood. It's advisable to make a reservation due to limited space inside. The house wine is surprisingly good and reasonably priced.
Great fish restaurant, inside and out, have a very good atmosphere. The food is great. Lots of fish, in different forms of preparation. Friendly staff. Wines are good. For lunch and diner. Recommended!

Superb little restaurant with lovely interior decoration. The menu is quite small in selection, but the food itself is absolutely delicious. Loved the pasta with shells. If you search for fresh seafood, this is the place to go. Also the tiramisu was very yummy. A reservation is btw. recommended, since the space inside is rather limited. We've been positively surprised by the good house wine. Prices are in our opinion totally fair. The service was quick and friendly. We felt well here.

Nice place right on the beach. Food good, service good. Nice atmosphere. There is a little pond with Terrapins in with was nice and the kids liked it. Very nice Italian ice cream. Parking can be a bit tight on the road side and a bit of a walk if the beach is busy, but it was nice. I would recommend if nearby.

I've been here several times now and I think it's the best restaurant in the area. Fantastic location on the sea, excellent service and very friendly people. And the most important the food is superb!! Especially the taste of the mussels. You must try!! :-)

Location: Good, but do not expect anything fancy. Right in front of a public beach with the reassuring noise of the sea, both the interior and the exterior are curated yet simple and overall the vibes are those of a seaside bar. Service: Great! The service is quick, polite and well prepared. The waitress that accompanied us on our "culinary journey" had a very deep knowledge of the dishes and the surrounding territory. Food: Great, with a clear seafood focus! This is the second time we dine at "Da Daniele" and the food might have been even better than the first time. Indeed this week they sourced some very large and juicy "Gamberi di Sanremo", a type of prawns that is fished in the western Ligurian sea, and we had them both as appetizer and on the pasta. Price: Very Good, in line with the amazing quality of the ingredients and the great job the kitchen does. A seafood dinner for two, and we both eat a lot, sits between 100 and 150 eur, wine included.

Really cozy ambiance. Very well cooked fresh fish. The tuna tartare is amazing. Good selection of wines. Sciac trà rosé is my favourite. Honests prices for the quality that they offer. All the waiters all gentle and take care of their guests. Really of of the best restaurants not only in Ventimiglia but in the all province of Imperia. Go definitely there.

I highly recommend Brazzeria 31 - Pizzeria e Brasserie in Ventimiglia as an excellent dining establishment to enjoy a meal with friends. The friendly staff, quick service, and delectable cuisine make it a great choice for lunch or dinner. They serve top-quality pizza made with premium ingredients, exquisite meat dishes, and amazing desserts. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food you receive.

(Translated by Google) I went with family and friends on the evening of July 12, 2025, for dinner, with a reservation. We ordered four pizzas and a hamburger. The person who ordered the hamburger wanted it split, and the restaurant was very accommodating. The rest of us ordered two Napoli pizzas (one with onion added) and two Genovese pizzas. All were delicious, with a delicious dough. The only caveat: the olive pits are there, just to be safe. 😊 Otherwise, everything was good, and the quality/price ratio was excellent! Come by! Passateci!

(Translated by Google) Premise, if the menu says tagliolini with shrimp and zucchini I expect shrimp. The price is not worth the dish. For 18 euros I would have eaten something else if the dish was this. I could have overlooked it, but I was terribly dissatisfied with the service. For health reasons I cannot drink while eating and being mocked by the waiter (Emanuele) in front of colleagues and customers was rather unpleasant, regardless of the fact that it was clearly visible. I had a good memory of the place, but after this experience we will definitely not return and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND anyone to go if these are the assumptions. Also keeping in mind that it is not the customer who has to ask for bread, paying 3 euros per person for the cover charge. As a restaurant worker for several years and knowing the job I expected more professionalism, respect and courtesy. Too bad. Total disappointment. Peccato. Delusione totale.
