Castello Cini Monselice, also known as Ca Marcello, is a historic castle complex dating back to the 11th century. Once a stronghold, it was later transformed into a more peaceful residence by the Venetian Marcello family. The castle offers stunning views and attracts fewer crowds compared to other tourist spots. Nearby restaurants serve delicious pasta and local wine, adding to the overall experience.
We saw this from the train on our way to Montegrotto from Rome. Used the rail to go back and visit. The walk to the Castle is moderate difficulty. (We are seniors) Guided tour is in Italian but they have a room to room guide in English for you to follow along. The host does speak English and can answer any questions and encouraged us to ask questions. Very knowledgable about the history and artifacts about the place. The fortress on the mountain is only open in fall and spring. I would have loved to have seen it. It is closed from noon till 2:30. Tours are on the hour 9, 10, and 11. Small groups and for summer tours, 9 or 10am.

Definitely worth a visit. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative. She spoke in Italian, so I can't comment on her English. The castle is well preserved and furnished making a visit more interesting. The Armory is particularly good along with the rooms of the piano nobile. Also, the kitchens contain many original features.

Very nice ancient building complex. First block built in approximately 1100 and further enhanced in the 1500 and 1700. Great collection of ancient armoury I recommend RR

A beautiful tour of a wonderful castle. The items in the castle were collected in the 1700s-1800s and were not from the castle, but were from the medieval period. You have to take the guided tour to see the castle, but it is worth it.

Lovely to visit, very good experience and castello is magnificent and noble place

Beautiful everything. The views are just stunning. It attracts other kinds of tourists, so it is not crowded. The surroundings are also beautiful and many little restaurants nearby offer amazing pasta and the local wine. Totally worth a visit.

The Sanctuary of the Seven Churches, also known as Santuario delle Sette Chiese, is a religious complex located in Monselice. It was commissioned by the Duodo family and consists of seven medieval churches built into the rocks of Colle Rocca. The architect Vincenzo Scamozzi was responsible for its construction. The sanctuary holds relics of important saints and is considered a place of great spiritual significance.
Serene small church with easy walk up. Inside the church are remains of many saints in glass coffins 😱😱

Beautiful easy walk from the town centre of Monselice uphill with a view on the Euganean Hills area. We’ve been there in December and the sunset was spectacular!
Claudia M — Google review
Strangely calming place compared to the rather over bearing and slightly touristy Venice. It has some similarities to places like Caernarfon in the UK. We walked up Citadel Hill (Chiesa di San Paolo) and reached St Grancis Exedra with great views over the town and surrounding valley. It is not quite clear what you are seeing unless you do pre research. It was well worth the climb although it would be difficult if you have mobility issues. However lovely little Italian shops including a tasty Gelato shop near the very friendly Visitor Information Centre.

Easily worth the climb and effort. Open all week although to climb higher only open on a Sunday. Visit all seven and see St Valentine tomb at number 7

(Translated by Google) Short Jubilee route (about twenty minutes) that starts from the castle and arrives at Villa Duodo, skirting the chapels dedicated to the churches of the Roman route. The walls on the left are beautiful with the caper plants that were in bloom on June 2. A slightly uphill route to do possibly on cool days, as the sun is "merciless" (even if, being short, it can still be done).

(Translated by Google) You start from the center of Monselice and take this beautiful little road uphill with the castle immediately on the left to continue with historic buildings, incredible villas, ornamental statues, a large church and the six smaller churches. Doing this route is like doing the jubilee in Rome, you can do it here or by going to Sant' Antonio in Padua (since it is part of the Vatican). By concession of Pope Paul V, since the seventeenth century, pilgrims who will walk the climb of the six churches with a devout spirit, will obtain plenary indulgence. The route is very suggestive and you can take beautiful photos. (Translated by Google) The Jubilee Shrine of the Seven Churches represents the miniature Holy City of Monselice. Walking up Via del Santuario, you come to the Porta Romana, or Holy Door, which is the entrance to the Shrine. After passing through the entrance, still along the street, there are six chapels designed by Pietro Duodo, a Venetian nobleman who named the churches after the seven major Roman basilicas. At the end of Via del Santuario, in the square, is the Church of San Giorgio, which houses various relics. Here, you can also admire Villa Duodo, built by the noble Venetian Duodo family in the 16th century. Also visible on the left is the exedra dedicated to St. Francis Xavier, a 17th-century stone staircase adorned with statues of the Four Seasons. Along the road that leads to the Sanctuary of the Seven Churches you also come across the Church of Santa Giustina, built in 1256. It is a Romanesque-style church with a single nave inside that houses several works of art, including the sixteenth-century statue of St. Giustina.

(Translated by Google) From thought to thought, from mountain to mountain, I finally arrived at the Sacro Monte closest to where I live. I go there often, because, as the people of Monselice claim, it truly is the most beautiful walk in the Veneto. From Piazza Mazzini to Villa Duodo, there's an uninterrupted series of monuments, including the castle, the Pieve di Santa Giustina, and the Porta Romana, which leads to the sanctuary of the "sète ceséte"—as they are called in the local dialect. It's a relaxing walk, a quarter of an hour on a gentle slope. The climb continues steeper to the top, to the Mastio Federiciano, the "Fortress" that gives the hill its name. Access is by reservation or on special occasions. Upon returning from a tour of the Sacred Mountains of Piedmont, Lombardy, and Switzerland, the "homegrown" one seemed more modest to me: "small chapels" instead of the "large chapels" of Varese, and the church of San Giorgio, crowning the sanctuary, little more than an oratory compared to the basilicas of the others. But the sanctuary of Monselice boasts two special features. First, it is a Jubilee: since 1605, following a privilege granted by Pope Paul V to the noble Duodo family, pilgrims have obtained plenary indulgence there as if they were traveling to Rome. Second, the church of San Giorgio houses the relics of a Saint Valentine, who has nothing in common with the saint of Terni, apart from the name, but that's enough to attract crowds of lovers on February 14th. Finally, some logistical information on how and when to get there. If your goal is a romantic visit to the sanctuary, avoid traditional means of transport: Monselice can be reached by water from Padua aboard a boat or rowboat. As for the best time: like love, this place is perfect at any time of year, any time of year, any time of year. Especially if you choose sunset, when the first evening star lights up and the full moon begins to rise. (pictured: the church of San Giorgio and a glimpse of the chapels at sunset) (Original) Di pensier in pensier, di monte in monte, sono infine approdata al Sacro Monte più prossimo a dove vivo.

I didn't visit Villa Duodo, but I only went to the San Giorgio chapel. Later, I returned to Castello Cini for a guided tour. Unfortunately, I'm unsure about the opening hours for Villa Duodo. The opera evening held there was enchanting, set against a lovely backdrop of stunning scenery and historical chapels.
We actually did not enter the Villa Duodo but only the San Giorgio chapel has we had to return to Castello Cini for a tour time. Also, not sure what the opening hours for Villa are.

Nestled in the charming town of Monselice, Villa Pisani is a stunning example of Palladian architecture that dates back to the 16th century. Originally built as a country residence by Venetian noble Francesco Pisani, this well-preserved villa showcases an impressive facade adorned with four faux columns and a grand tympanum featuring angels supporting a heraldic coat of arms.

(Translated by Google) Villa built in the 16th century by the Venetian noble Francesco Pisani of Zuanne. Although born as a country residence, it appears well-kept and valorised, it is currently owned by the municipality. The facade with 4 fake columns has a large tympanum inside which two large angels hold up a now worn heraldic coat of arms (probably of the house of Francesco Pisani). The building has a square two-storey plan with a similar layout of the rooms. The entrance to the villa leads directly into the main room on the ground floor, a room with entirely frescoed walls with landscape views and views. The remaining rooms on the ground floor are occupied by offices and lounges. Going up to the first floor, you enter the main room which, similarly to that of the ground floor, is entirely frescoed with prevalent landscape scenes, all well preserved thanks to the last restoration dating back to 1983. The other smaller side rooms see the presence of frescoes linked to sacred images or simple representations of sculptures. What can be appreciated are the painting styles of the villa which seem to belong to different painters. The rooms are unfurnished.

Campo Comunale Di Monselice is a historic football stadium that exudes an old-world atmosphere, reminiscent of Venetian football history. The structure, which saw the glories of the C2 series from 1978 to 1983, has a unique charm with its English-style design that allows for close interaction between players and fans. While it offers an excellent view of the pitch, there are limited parking options and the facilities such as changing rooms and toilets are in need of improvement.

Fantastic place in sleepy little Monselice :) Hip, cozy, yummy, well-curated. Extremely kind host that took the time to chat about the region and its wines/products. Absolutely delicious foods; I only wish I had more space to eat everything on the menu! And try all the wines I did not get to this time around. The interior is modern, but very well-designed, with a high attention to detail. Love the wine-ish silhouettes lining the walls and glasses. Fantastic value for the experience and fresh products... next time, hope to be able to stop by for their homemade breakfast treats as well! Definitely check it out if you're in the area.

(Translated by Google) It was a nice surprise, discovering a place like this by chance. We felt welcomed at home, like in the places we frequented in the 80s and 90s of the twentieth century. Excellent craft beers and delicious dishes (the face of my sandwich was heavenly), kind people and "de noantri" music. Well done. I went with some friends from Monselice a few weeks ago. Pizza was really good! Unfortunately, though, they kept us waiting for almost one hour and a half before serving it, without giving us any explanation! At the end of the dinner we were not given any discount! They replied to our complaints telling us that they had had some problems with the wood used in the oven! Service and Customer Service were horrible!

(Translated by Google) Very homely atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, not a lot of choice in the restaurant part! They mainly prefer fresh fish, when I went the weather was not the best so little fish caught that week. Little choice as a meat base, perhaps adding something more meat helps in the period when the fish is scarce. I will return to try the pizza made in a wood oven. Nestled in the charming square of Monselice, L'Osticella Spunciotteria & Vineria is a delightful gem that stands out from typical bars and restaurants. With a rich history, this cozy trattoria exudes warmth and passion for authentic Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is genuine and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to enjoy hearty first courses at reasonable prices. While the service is swift and attentive, patrons have noted that the music can be a tad loud at times.
Quaint place with excellent service and food. Cant go wrong

Really wouldn’t recommend this place. There were flies all around our table, which was inside, and at times even on our plates. There was very loud dance music playing. The food was quite poor but not terrible so felt might be a little harsh to only give 1 star. The waitress was reasonably friendly and spoke some English which was very helpful.

We have been traveling Italy for over a week. Florence, Rome, Milan. On the way to Venice we stopped for a last on shore meal and chanced upon this great place. We speak very little Italian They went out of their way to help us. Eating vegetarian makes it harder to find great food. Every dish was amazing. Fried cabbage, yes please. Pasta and beans dish was excellent too. Even the cauliflower was great. Great service all around. Best meal so far. I wish I took pictures !

One of the worst experience during our stay in Italy. We want to order some food, but noone cares. reaction to restaurants answer: Please dont make a fool of you :) We have been there this Saturday evening, around 20:00-21:00. We came inside, they said us, you place is fully booked, we asked if we can sit outside. Your employe said that no problem, we also have our table setted outside. We order sparkling watter and two shots. We get them, than after like 20 minutes when NOONE cares, we decided to leave. Friend of mine paid for that. Restaurant inside was half empty. So I dont get you reaction. You want to tell to me that I am liar? Please delete it. Thanks. We also have prove in internet banking that we been there and paid... So please do not try to make idiots of us.

Nestled just a stone's throw from the highway exit, Osteria La Campana is a delightful culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, this charming eatery offers a menu that rivals high-end gourmet restaurants while maintaining affordable prices. The selection may be limited to just a few dishes—3-4 appetizers and main courses—but each plate bursts with creativity and exceptional quality, steering away from the typical local fare you might expect.
Without question one of the best meals I’ve had in Italy! The food takes time to come out (as it should) and the attention to quality is exceptional! Do not miss this gem if visiting this area!!!

They call it "Osteria", but this stops at the wooden tables: the menu is the one of a high quality gourmet restaurant, yet at affordable prices. Wine is also very good: we had the Prosecco they propose, whose quality was remarkable, and this is not at all common (sadly) for this very abused wine. They do not have many dishes (3-4 first course and 3-4 main course) but what we tasted was excellent and creative, not at all the traditional local cuisine as you could expect in an "Osteria". If you are around Monselice, go there. If you are passing along the highway between Bologna and Padova, get out at the Monselice exit and come eating in this Osteria, rather than in one of the abominable Autogrill (it's just 5 minutes off-road). You will thank me :-) Mind, the place is small, you'd better reserve a table...

(Translated by Google) No set menu! The dishes served were excellent, including the appetizer of Angus Roast Beef with marinated zucchini (14 euros). The first course was fresh pasta, pappardelle with rabbit ragù, "delicious" 🔥❤️ (14 euros). Then came a medium-rare Angus sirloin with a side of beans and onions (22 euros + 4 euros for the side). To finish, a coffee and a bottle of still water, already opened, "perhaps from the tap." The final price was €58.00 for 1 person. I still wanted to try the cuisine, and I must say that the dishes served were excellent. The menu is written on the blackboard as you enter the restaurant, to the right of the bar counter. Being an osteria, the price is perhaps a bit too high, but there's no arguing with the quality of the food, which I confirm is excellent ❤️💯🔥 As for the service, perhaps a few more smiles would be better than a new customer who, upon entering for the first time, visually appears unwelcome, 👎 but that's still my personal impression. Anyway, recommended for the excellent food🥰!! PS: If the place closes at 2:30 PM, why not let customers who came in at 1:45/50 PM and others around 2:00 PM eat, asking to eat but were turned away?? I've never seen anything like it👎 😏 (Original) No menù fisso !

Really nice place... The waitresses at the bar are great but the lady behind the counter is a mean person. A smile will do when you have clients, be them black or white! Eremo Santa Domenica is a hermitage located on Montericco hill, accessible via the Colli Euganei path n.6 from Monselice train station. The journey involves an uphill asphalt road followed by a dirt path, leading to a panoramic viewpoint at "Ercole del Montericco" and then a long staircase to the hermitage. The trek consists of 18 hairpin bends but rewards hikers with stunning views above the plain's fog.
interesting place, you have to climb up, but it's worth it to see the views

I admire this hill, which was a bit of a challenge after my trip to Venice before that. The scenery was really great as seen on one of the pictures. I also liked the challenging path I chose -> at the end realised that it's not as easy as it looks. But with that comes a bit of problem. It's hard and flat surface when you start from Monselice station and follow the road all the way up, so be prepared for that. 4 stars

(Translated by Google) Ancient hermitage located on the top of Monte Ricco, the south-eastern limit of the Euganean Hills Regional Park. Its origins date back to 1203, when the municipality of Monselice donated land for the foundation of the monastery of San Giovanni Evangelista, which after 1258 became a dependency of the Benedictine monastery of Padua. Monte Ricco, a fertile area cultivated in terraces, has attracted interests of a religious, economic and military nature and its territory, over the centuries, has been a spiritual point of reference for the hermits of S. Agostino until 1769. In the 1920s, Count Vittorio Cini built a villa for himself and his family and in 1947 donated the entire property to the Friars Minor Conventual of the Basilica of the Saint, with the request to name the place “Hermitage of Santa Domenica” in memory of his grandmother. The area becomes a nursing home, a spirituality center and then a recovery community. The property was put up for sale and purchased in 2023; it is a stop on path N.6 of the Euganean Hills Regional Park.

In addition to the excellent and easily digestible whole-wheat pizza, we had a piadina with porchetta and mushrooms, made with a very thick dough that I've never found anywhere else, and which I think is one of the best we've ever had. The cured meats were quality, and for those of us who don't drink beer with pizza, they even served an excellent glass of Cabernet. Limoncello was included at the end, and the price was excellent. Hats off, I'll be back. (Original) Piadina mondiale. Limoncello finale offerto e ottimo prezzo finale. Chapeau tornerò

Trattoria Dal Santo da Fufi is a recommended lunch spot that may seem unassuming at first, but surprises diners with its delicious food. The mixed starter and the schisciotto are particularly noteworthy, while the gnocchi is described as heavenly. This traditional eatery offers a taste of authentic Italian cuisine in a setting reminiscent of a 70's bar.
Gnocchi like the one at Fufi, you will get it in Paradise. They are to die for.... Marvelous...

(Translated by Google) Don't stop at appearances... recommended by a friend I go to this place for lunch I arrive and at first glance the place looks like a 70's bar a little hesitant I order and I'm amazed I got the schisciotto (I don't know if it's really called that) with a mixed starter very good. and the best beans in tocio that I have ever eaten. the muso stew without infamy or praise but I will certainly return to try other dishes (Original) Non fermatevi all’apparenza … consigliata da un amica vado in qst locale per pranzo arrivo e a primo impatto il posto sembra un bar anni 70 un po’ titubante ordino e meraviglia ho preso lo schisciotto( non so se si chiama realmente così ) con antipasto misto buonissimo.e i fagioli in tocio più buoni che io abbia mai mangiato lo spezzatino di muso senza infamia e senza lode ma sicuramente tornerò per provare altre pietanze

(Translated by Google) Fantastic Oscar known as "Fufi"... but who is the Saint? 😁 At the Dal Santo trattoria we go back to the past... a dive into the memory of places and traditions... the Second World War, local history... You eat well and spend very little. The food is quality, well made, excellent raw materials, respectful of local traditions, without frills: in our area (Romagna) they say "few pugnette". The jocks and the pretentious of the living room can avoid experiencing the Oscar and son experience. Good, even too honest, and courteous... in their own way, children of their culture as Venetians from Padua. I will definitely return even if it means extending the tour by a few dozen km. See you soon. A presto.

(Translated by Google) Spectacular restaurant! Homemade pasta, sensational ragù like the appetizers and cold cuts it offers, last night we then ate stewed donkey (musso) cooked very well with polenta warmed on the fireplace and the same bread, to finish it cut at a price that in another restaurant would certainly exceed 50 euros for the amount of food eaten.....I'll count 20 euros each....if you're lucky enough to be able to book go there... highly recommended!!!!! P.S. If you are looking for a cool place to bring snotty VIPs there, the place is not for you and I think that's a good thing ;) (Original) Trattoria spettacolare!
